At first he’s pretty calm about it

Just casually asked if you wanted to see a movie with him some time

“Like... a-as more than friends?”

You'd kinda expected it so you weren't too shocked when he asked you

So you said yes

And he does a double take

"Wait.... Are you serious? You want to?"

"Well yeah?"

"WHAT WHY"

Was good with flirting but didn't actually think you'd go out with him smh

Now every minute he just contemplates the fact that he has you

And he still can't believe it

He’s with the y/n

You never feel unloved when you're with him

He loves going for long walks, just to talk and relax

Why does it sound like he's a dog here lmao

Will always take as many pictures of you as his phone storage will allow, his camera roll is stuffed with pics of you

Will insist on going to the park for a picnic, he just loves you and the sunshine

He loves to quietly slide your hand into his

But he always ends up giggling because he’s so giddy about being with you

Has to take a moment to charge up his courage before giving you a quick kiss on the cheek

He then goes an unreal shade of scarlet as he covers his face, muttering that he ‘can’t believe that he actually did it’!

It takes him a while to finally gather up the courage to properly kiss you

Like.... a very long time

You were starting to get worried that he didn’t actually like you

Maybe he was just too nervous to tell you that it wasn’t working for him

buT NOPE

On one certain date, Hyunjin had prepared a cute little dinner on the practice room floor

He was so apologetic about the poor setting, but finally had stopped saying sorry when you’d told him for the 2376129th time that you were having fun

At some point, he just went uber silent, watching you not in a creepy way

You eventually noticed, and just stared back

“What?”

He didn’t say anything, but his eyes did widen a wee bit

“What are you lookin at, you’re sorta scaring m-”

He cut you off and just kissed you

BOI YOU WERE SO SHOCKED

Afterwards you both just stared at each other

And then Hyunjin goes all red

“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to do that I’m sorry that was stupid you can slap me if you want!!!!”

“Bruh why would I want to slap you?!”

“You don’t hate me?”

facepalms for days

You meet the other boys only a few minutes later

Go figure

You’re talking casually, the embarrassment from the kiss wearing off

They all come stampeding into the practice room making an ungodly racket

And all go quiet when they realize what they’ve done

Changbin, bless him, tries to reduce the awful level of awkwardness: “*cough* uh hey, Hyunjin.... This must be y/n right?” He waves at you. “We’ve heard a lot about you, Hyunjin never stops talking about you”

He misses the death glare Hyunjin shoots him

Then Jisung

Freakin Jisung, man

Waltzes up: “Hyunjin’s cheeks are really pink”. He gives a cheeky smile. “You didn’t kiss did you?”

The room goes as quiet as a tomb

“OH SHIT YOU DIDN’T ACTUALLY KISS DID YOU????”

Of course Hyunjin completely loses his shit at the sight of you turning a deep red. “GODDAMMIT JISUNG STFU”

Ye your first meeting with SKZ wasn’t the best

But you all bonded rather quickly after

And Jisung buys you little snacks sometimes as an apology for your first awkward meeting

OH GOD THE BOYS ADORE YOU

If you’re ever sick, they always get snacks for Hyunjin to give you

And if you’re really under the weather, they’ll cover for Hyunjin so that he can stay with you and take care of you.

He wraps you in blankets

YOU ARE NOW A BURRITO

And tries to make soup for you

We know what cooking!Hyunjin leads to

You’re chilling on the couch and you suddenly hear a high-pitched scream

You’re up and sprinting to the kitchen at the speed of light still wrapped in a burrito

To find him fanning at a smoking pot

“WHAT THE FUCK HYUNJIN YOU JUST NEED TO HEAT IT UP HOW DID YOU START A MINI FIRE?”

You’re home doesn’t burn down thank goodness

And you end up heating some soup for yourself while Hyunjin watches

And it’s! hilarious! when he’s sick!

He becomes a little ten-year-old istg

But in a really cute way

He doesn’t ask for anything: food, to watch TV etc

Nah he just wants cuddles

The whole damn day

So while you’re struggling to keep a mask on and not getting sneezed on, this idiot is smiling like a puppy if puppies could smile, clinging onto you like a love-filled leach did that sound weird? i think that sounded really weird

Now idk what this dude is afraid of

Something tells me one big fear would be to lose Stray Kids and the people he loves

And so I think he’d get kinda nervous when you both see less of each other and when he gets busier

You can’t talk as much because of his crazy schedule and with lack of sleep, he starts getting more irritated easier during the little intervals of time you get to see each other

At some point he might snap at you, maybe for no reason at all, and you’ll snap back indignantly

Yeah you love him but you’re not taking any attitude

If things get really bad, he just shakes his head, saying he needs some air

You’ll both give yourselves some space, but eventually Hyunjin becomes terrified that you’re too angry with him to talk again

So he goes to find you and talk

You both hug it out and decide to spent the rest of the day together for more quality time

And it’s totally worth Hyunjin getting an earful from Chan the next day

OK back to fluff quickly quickly

On the days Hyunjin goes somewhere, you sometimes join him in the car ride, tho you’re always super careful to never show your face when he gets out

You’ll both send cute little texts throughout the day and OOF just couple goals

We’ve already established that Hyunjin can’t cook for love or money

So if he even steps foot in the dorms’ kitchen

You bet that at least two other of his hyungs will follow for pure supervision

And he is not, under any circumstances, allowed to cook something by himself

And you’re grateful that your safety and world peace had been assured by this rule

Although, you’re allowed to cook together as long as you watch what he’s doing

If anything at all goes wrong, the blame is pinned on you

So it’s natural for you to treat these cooking projects as once-in-a-while occasions

Now when you ask about meeting his parents

Holy Hell

Stutters, clammy hands, flitting eyes, you name it

Hyunjin is so frickin nervous about you meeting his parents oof

You don’t understand why, like hey, how bad could it be right?

But pretty soon you get why Jinnie was nervous

His parents aren’t that trusting within the first hour of knowing you

You guess it might be because of poor past experiences?

Maybe Hyunjin had been judged or dated once too many times just for his looks?

The thought is enough to make you swear by all you know to always treat him like a treasure

You also make a mental note to ask him sometime

Eventually, his parents realize you have pure intentions and they become so much kinder and warmer

They let you know how welcome you are to visit whenever you want, they offer to send you off with some homemade cookies...

And Hyunjin gets so emotional at the beautiful site in front of him that he bursts into tears

Which causes you and his parents to tease and hug him

if you’re thick, let’s just be clear that im making a statement on how you should NOT judge Jinnie purely because he’s good looking, appreciate his talent!

Now, Hyunjin is kinda tall compared to the rest of SKZ hah im joking of course so it’s pure instinct to want to steal his shirts

Don’t lie, if you had the chance, you would take something i see right thru u

And at some point in your life, you stop realizing ‘hey, this isn’t my jumper!’ and just walk around in clothes that aren’t yours

And when this happens, three things follow:

You see a wild Hyunjin crashing through the apartment towards you, yelling happily that ‘that’s my favorite hoodie!!’ he tries to act like he’s angry and fails in 0.0000003 sec

He doesn’t slow down and freakin slams into you at full velocity, knocking you over or off anything you might be sitting on

He proceeds to tickle you mercilessly, until you either can’t breath and turn purple or until you commit an extreme act of violence in the name of self defense

Once this chaotic episode ends, most of the time with both of you are completely knackered and just lying on the floor

You both cool off by just cuddling and watching something on TV

Or reading something together!!!

I can totally see Hyunjin shoving one of his fav books in your face and insisting that you both take turns in reading aloud to each other

And you both react at the same time to shockers in the book, like you start crying together when a character dies who hasn’t had that traumatic experience or you both squeal with joy and hug each other tighter when something great happens

Did I just turn into a puddle of happy goo?

Yes I fuckin did.

I think Hyunjin wouldn’t take that long to tell you that he loves you

That doesn’t mean that he planned anything tho

HAH! Course he didn’t

Probs says it when he can barely think straight

Maybe you’re watching him dance late at night

You’d brought snacks to keep him going ‘cause he was working his ass off

And there you sit, marveling at his skill and fluidity while executing his choreo

You have a talent for hyping Hyunjin up while he dances, cheering when he leaps high into the air, gasping when he performs a complicated move, and aw-ing and his graceful poses ok im done now

When he finishes one of his more dramatic dances, you jump up with glee and tackle him in a hug despite him being sweaty, saying how proud you are

He hugs you back happily and says:

“I should be the proud one, having someone I love so much being so supportive of me”.

You both freeze, still hugging each other

And neither of you move or breathe for a moment

“What did you say?”

“UhhhHHHH NOTHING I SAID NOTHING”

“You said that you love me!”

“WAT NO I DIDN’T I-”

“HYUNJIN I LOVE YOU TOO!!!!”

“N- wait what?”

“I love you, dumbass” same tho

Oof that poor practice room has seen a lot of awkwardness

I’m cracking up just by thinking of how hopeless Hyunjin could become when SKZ are away

“Hey do you guys have a signal and/or data? I wanna Skype y/n and show them the beautiful view”.

Always taking pictures to show you

In the evenings, you get a frickin cascade of notifications of both photos and messages from the poor boy telling you he misses you like crazy

When Skyping, he asks to see Khami, who you have the pleasure of caring for during his absence

You do question (mentally and then verbally) whether he calls to talk to you or his dog

He never answers the question heh

There’s lowkey a competition between you and Khami for Hyunjin’s affection

When the boys make their flight home, Hyunjin keeps you informed about everything that’s happening

Fright or Flight: Chapter 2

Parings: Prinxiety // Logicality // Platonic LAMP

Story Summary: Virgil and Patton investigate the New Prince Castle, when a brutal accident kills Patton. Patton wakes as a ghost and meets friendly ghoul Roman, who has been haunting the castle for 20 years. Virgil is determined to bring Patton back to life and brings Logan, the ghost expert, to help him out. Time is quickly running out, and the four must work together to undo death. If only it was as simple as Logan made it sound.

Unknown to them, a secret entity in the castle does not plan on letting them succeed.

When Patton first met Virgil, his last intention was to become friends with him. Virgil had built up a notorious reputation over the first few months of school, and his grades did nothing to disprove his status. Patton wasn’t the type to judge a person’s character based on rumors nor looks. No one was a higher believer in the benefit of doubt than Patton! However, Virgil’s first impression did not help his case.

Virgil transferred into Patton’s English class the second semester due to a schedule change. When the teacher stated a new team project was to be completed, Patton did not shy away from offering to be Virgil’s partner. He understood how difficult it could be being the new kid in a class full of friends and cliques.

The project was hefty, an collection of novel analyzing, essays, vocabulary, and journal entries. Patton was not looking forward to the Shakespearean project-Shakespeare’s language was alien to him. It occurred to Patton that pairing up with the soon-to-be-dropout may not have been his best idea. Nonetheless, Patton refused to be jaded.

The first day of the project, Virgil refused to touch the work.

“There’s no way I’m touching this project.” Virgil sneered. “Especially about Shakespeare.”

“Huh?” Patton had not fully processed Virgil’s words. “Is it because you don’t understand it?”

“Sure.”

“Neither can I! I guess Shakespeare really has our brains shaken up! Maybe we can ask the teacher to go over it for us?”

The teen huffed and shook his head. Virgil laid his head on the wooden desk and his eyes slipped closed. He napped for the rest of the period.

His behavior continued for weeks. Patton had tried everything in his power to get Virgil to help him out. Patton’s seemingly endless supply of compliments and encouraging gestures served no help.

Patton’s mind had conjured countless excuses for Virgil since Virgil himself refused to give one. At the beginning the excuses had seemed feasible. Lack of sleep? Family issues? However, by week three, Patton was already scraping the bottom of the barrel, trying to justify Virgil’s dismissive attitude with clones and possible mind control. Virgil was no closer to lifting up a pencil, there were ten days left of the project, and Patton still understood little to nothing about Shakespeare. Patton was flying solo and time was ticking.

The final week before the project was due, Patton caught the flu.

Patton would chalk up the flu to the top three sucky sicknesses of his lifetime. His fever was raging, his skin drowning in sweat while the insides of him iced over. Patton couldn’t tell when being awake ended and when sleep began. The only alarm in Patton’s body was the churning in his gut that rushed him to the toilet.

Understandably, the project was the last thing on his mind.

Patton would not remember his Shakespeare mission until the Sunday before it was due, when he was shaking off the final remnants of the flu. The realization hit him like a train, but by the time he went flying off his bed and hurriedly logging on to his computer to check the time, Patton knew it was hopeless. There was no way he could get the project done in a few hours and counting. Not when all his energy was going into fighting of sneezes and headaches.

Patton was dejectedly scrolling through his email filled with newsletters from adoption sites and animal protection agencies when a subject line caught his eye: “English Project.” Linked to the email were word documents and an audio file. Perplexedly, Patton opened the email.

Subject: English Project

Patton,

so apparently you’ve been sick. class is way more quiet without you their, which is wierd.

i think i did everything you hadn’t done. it’s gonna be really mispelled and confusing and shit. sorry. i’m not the best with righting. feel free to fix anything.

Patton hugged his computer screen and laugh with relief. He had no idea why Virgil was so nervous. His ideas were brilliant. A week later, Patton would see an A in his gradebook for the Shakespeare project.

There was a reason why Patton never lost faith in people.

True to his word, the next week Virgil explained his mistreatment to Patton. Virgil struggled with dyslexia. While he was getting tutoring in overcoming his learning disability, Virgil’s writing made him incredibly insecure. His old teacher always let him work individually, but the new teacher wasn’t having it. Before class, the teacher pulled him aside and told Virgil he was no different from any other student and would have to work with a partner. Virgil, determined to spite the teacher and anxious to seem like an “idiot” in front of Patton, would pretend to sleep the whole period.

“All your writing took was a quick grammar fix. The ideas were so good! I’m not just saying that to say that, they actually were! I could never think of something like that.” Patton reassured enthusiastically.

Virgil flushed a bright red. “I didn’t do much. Shakespeare is a lot easier to understand with audio.”

Patton listened to the audiobook of Macbeth that night. Virgil clearly wasn’t giving himself enough credit.

Virgil and Patton quickly grew close once the project was done. Virgil was still quiet, snappy, moody, and detrimentally insecure, but he began to open up more as the months went on. By senior year, Patton and Virgil was joined at the hip. Two peas in a pod.

Virgil had grown a lot since freshman year.

Being joined at the hip with Virgil meant that Patton got to understand Virgil by the simplest change in body language or expression. It also meant that Patton became aquatinted with anyone close to Virgil.

Patton already had a bad feeling while Virgil’s tone had shifted on the phone the night they were chatting about yearbook quotes. Remy sending Patton a text only confirmed the ball of dread in his stomach.

Rem: pat can we talk ?

Patton: You don’t even have to ask! Everything ok?

Rem: it’s about v

Rem: have you guys talked recently ? out of school

Patton: We talked last weekend. Over the phone. Why? Is Virgil fine??

Rem: idk. he came over to my house a couple nights ago at like 5 am. talked about some ghost shit.

Patton: He woke you up to talk about ghosts??(language!)

Rem: looking for affirmation that he wasn’t some obsessed ghost freak. i told him nah

Rem: but tbh he kinda is obsessed

Patton: He is passionate about his ghosts! But that’s not a bad thing.

Rem: v strongly disagrees. the whole thing about the yearbook and ghost quotes really messed with his head

Patton: I didn’t mean anything bad by it! It was just an idea! I promise! I’ll apologize to him!!!

Rem: wait no thats not what im saying. no one blames u

Rem: is he doing any ghost stuff anytime soon

Patton: Yep. He’s going to visit a castle!

Patton: Is that bad?

Rem: don’t you remember last time v became paranoid abt something? he pulled some real stupid stuff just to prove ppl wrong

Patton: Yeah. I know.

Patton: Gosh now I’m worried :(

Rem: i just dont want him doing anything he’ll regret on the trip. can u just…idk watch out for him pls ? ik v can take care of himself. but sometimes he gets into this headspace that’s self-destructive

Rem: tbh i dont like his ghost stuff as it is. i dont need him doing something dumb either

Patton: I understand Rem. That’s really sweet of you <3 <3

Patton: I’ll look out for him! I promise!!!! :-) :-)

Rem: ty. dont tell v abt this convo tho

Despite feeling uneasy about it, Patton understood Remy’s request to keep silent. Telling Virgil about their conversation would only push Virgil away and make him defensive. It’d be impossible to look out for him.

Virgil had already given Patton a way in. Patton had to talk to Logan for Virgil and get any supplies he might need. Patton loved visiting Logan in and of itself. Maybe Logan could help him out.

Logan’s business was located near small shops clustered along the beach. It was a hotspot for tourists, where knickknacks and souvenirs were sold and expensive attractions were advertised. Patton walked along here with Virgil sometimes, stopping at the arcade or mirror maze. Patton had met some of the most interesting people in the small touristy town.

Among the attractions was a dark blue shingled building with a pointy-roofed top. Painted letters on a wooden board spelt out “Afterlife Exposed.” Patton stepped through the door and a bell gently ringed, signaling his arrival.

At the sound of the bell, a tall, dark-haired man turned around. His navy suit blended in with the darkness of the shop. The man’s lean body was captivated beautifully in the suit. Patton quickly averted his eyes, blushing furiously.

“I have been expecting you-oh. Greetings, Patton. What a surprise.”

“Hi Logan!” Patton waved enthusiastically. “Who were you expecting?”

“No one. It’s a new rule Father has implemented. I must say it to every customer to ‘set the mood,’ as he calls it.” Logan dragged his hand over his face exasperatedly. “I find it quite ridiculous. But business shall be business.”

Logan’s father technically owned Afterlife Exposed. But he was always hidden in the back, gathering supplies or experimenting. Logan was currently studying entrepreneurship in college in order to take over the family business someday.

“How may I help you today, Patton?” Logan inquired, stepping around the counter to stand in front of him. He was even taller up close.

Patton filled Logan in about the New Prince Castle family murder and Virgil’s plan to investigate the castle for one of his ghost routines. Logan nodded politely the whole way through.

“I see. What an intriguing case. What exactly does he need from me?”

Patton shrugged cluelessly. “Anything you think might help, I guess.”

“What’s his budget?”

“A coffee and cake pop from Starbucks, if he uses his gift card.”

Logan rolled his eyes. “And he sent you to purchase something from here? Why, he couldn’t even afford a keychain.”

“Come on, Logan! He’s one of your most loyal customers and between us, he’s going through a rough patch. Can’t you help him out? Please?”

Logan massaged his temples and sighed. “Patton, it’s just not something the business can afford to do right now. My Father and I have been dealing with a sort of rough patch as well. You and Virgil have my sincerest apologies-truly, you do.”

Patton nodded dejectedly, “I understand.” Spotting Logan’s hesitant expression and tense form, he rested a hand on Logan’s shoulder and grinned. “Really, I do. I don’t blame you.”

Logan gave a small, tight-lipped smile in return. Gently shaking Patton’s hand off his shoulder, he clasped his hands together tightly. “Well, is there anything else I can do for you?”

“I’m not too sure.” Patton pursed his lips in thought. “Well, actually. I was wondering if you could tell me the dos and don’ts of ghost hunting. The yays and nays. The cats and dogs-actually no scratch that, both of those would be a yay.”

“With all due respect, Patton, I think Virgil has got that covered.” Logan reassured. “He must have asked me a dozen times prior to his first investigation.”

“Oh yeah, I know. It’s for me.” Patton corrected.

Logan raised an eyebrow in perplexion. Patton had never shown an interest in ghost hunting when Virgil wasn’t to be found.

Patton thought quickly. “I just want to understand more. For when I talk to Virgil. Sometimes I really don’t get half the explanations coming from the kiddo’s mouth.” It wasn’t a lie. “Just…how do you deal with ghosts?

“I see.” Logan clicked his tongue. “I’m sure Virgil could explain it to you more in depth. But, if you’re ever in doubt, chalk it up to one thing: respect. Is what you’re doing respecting the afterlife and their home? Are you portraying common courtesy? Treat them with the same respect as the living, if not more. There are exceptions, as with anything, but for the most part, that should keep you out of trouble with spirits.”

“Respect.” Patton repeated.

“You have strong morals, Patton. If you’re concerned about involvement with the afterlife due to your closeness with Virgil, I would not worry. Lack of respect is the last of your weaknesses.”

Logan pulled out his phone from the back of his pocket. “I apologize, I must return to my work. However, if you or Virgil have any more questions, feel free to give me a call.”

Patton gushed and thanked Logan, jotting down his number. Logan flushed a gentle red and held out his hand for a handshake.

“Pleasure doing business with you, Patton.”

Patton swatted Logan’s hand away and brought him in for a hug. “Thank you, Logan.”

Logan awkwardly pat Patton on the back before ungracefully untangling himself from the embrace. “I was only doing my job. Now, I understand it’s none of my business, but I recommend getting some rest. You look exhausted.”

“High school has permanently carved bags under my eyes.” Patton shook his head defeatedly.

Logan gave an amused smirk. “You sounded like Virgil.”

Patton beamed. “Like father, like son!”

Just as Patton was about to turn around to leave the store, something in the corner of the room glistened, catching his eye. “Hey Logan? Just one more thing?”

Logan hummed at him, encouraging Patton to continue.

He pointed to the object at the corner of the room. “How much can I get that for?”

“Walkie-talkies. I sent you to Logan Berry, one of the smartest, most knowledgeable people about the afterlife in this town, and you come back with a Ghost Buster walkie-talkie.” Virgil grunted, dangling the toy by its antennae.

“You can have the Casper the Ghost one instead.”

“What? No! Ghost Busters is better, anyway.” Virgil groaned. “That’s not the point. How about advice? Did Logan say anything?”

“Just to respect the ghosts. Have common courtesy. Which you better be doing anyway, even without Logan telling you to do so.”

Virgil threw his hands up in exasperation and fell down into his sofa as the cushions engulfed the skinny man. “Obviously I respect them! The last thing I need is coming home possessed and cursed! He knows I know that. That’s really all he said?”

“Besides giving us his number.” Patton confirmed. “Which I already gave you.”

Virgil grumbled. “Whatever. One day I’ll get enough money to- wait. The walkie-talkies. There’s no way you could have bought them with my money, I would not have had enough. Please don’t tell me…”

Virgil got a glance of Patton’s sheepish look and groaned. “Patton, we have a rule! No buying each other anything!” He buried his head in his hands. “I can’t pay you back. You know that.”

“Hey…” Patton took a seat next to Virgil and laid a comforting hand on his knee. “It’s okay. They weren’t expensive. You don’t have to pay me back.”

Virgil looked at Patton in between his fingers. His voice was muffled against his palms. “You know how I feel about that, Pat.”

“Virgil, come on.” Patton pleaded.

Virgil shook his head. “Thank you. But, you need to return them.”

Guilty silence settled among the two, but neither made a move to leave. Both were lost in their own worlds when an idea struck Patton.

He nudged Virgil. “I know a way for you to pay me back without money.” At Virgil’s unimpressed look, he protested, “Seriously! It would mean a lot more to me than whatever these walkie-talkies cost.”

“Yea?” Virgil lifted his head from his hands. “What is it?”

Patton stared at Virgil’s stormy eyes as his heart pounded. In all honesty, this was the last thing Patton wanted to do. He was terrified. But, he thought back to the conversation he had with Remy, and the last time Virgil did something senseless unsupervised due to paranoia. “I want to go ghost hunting with you. At the New Prince Castle.”

Virgil’s jaw dropped. His eyes darted around Patton’s face before he shook his head and gave a weak chuckle. “Sure, Pat. Whatever you say.”

“No, I’m serious!” Patton insisted. “I’ll respect the ghosts and do whatever you tell me to do!”

Virgil was dismissing Patton before he could finish his sentence. “No, no, no. You hate ghost stories, Pat! Especially ones that are spooky and gruesome. You’d hate ghost-hutning. It’s dark and there’s lots of weird noises and tons of spiders. No way. I’m not adding more guilt to my conscience.”

Virgil made a move to get up from the sofa, but Patton refused to let the conversation drop. He grabbed Virgil’s hand and pulled him back to the seat. Virgil landed with a clumsy thump.

“Kiddo, I know I hate all those things. I’m sure I’ll be scared. But, you’ll be there too! I love you more than I hate all those things combined.”

“Patton, we can do something else together. Go to the movies. Or bowling. Normal teen stuff.” Virgil reasoned.

Patton retorted, “But ghost hunting is important to you.”

“It’s not that important. It’s a simple hobby. I don’t care that much about it.” Virgil cut off.

“I know, I know!” Patton quickly backtracked. “What I meant was that ghost-hunting has been a cool way for us to bond. It intrigues you-a perfectly normal amount-and I like seeing you happy! Just like you go walking with me along the shops by the beach even though it’s super crowded and you hate it.”

“Patton, what’s your point?” Virgil grilled.

“My point is I want to try this thing that you enjoy with you. Just like you try things for me. It’s senior year, Virgil. No one hates thinking about it more than me, but we don’t know what things are going to be like after high school. I want to find a husband, start a family. Maybe study veterinary science. You could have a publisher for your writing, become a famous author, and move. I want to do this with you. I want to get over my fear.”

Patton stared at Virgil hopefully and held out his hand. “What do you say? One more big adventure for the dynamic duo?”

Virgil stared at Patton, looked down and roughly shook his head, froze, then stared at Patton once more. Virgil’s foot rapidly tapped against the floor, creating a dizzy, distracting melody. Finally, Virgil pulled his hair and glared at Patton. “You’ll be careful?”

Patton nodded eagerly.

“And you’ll stick with me no matter what? At all times? I want you in my sight.”

Virgil dramatically groaned, closing his eyes and throwing his head back. “I guess you can come.”

Patton shot up from his seat, whooping with joy and hopping around the sofa. “Thank you, Virgil! Thank you! We’re going to have such a great time!”

Virgil peeked one eye open and gave a soft grin. “Yeah, I guess we are. You’re sure you wanna do this?”

“Never been more sure of anything in my life besides my love for you and cats! I pinkie swear it.”

Patton and Virgil intertwined pinkies before Patton winked and let go, embracing Virgil.

“Let your moms know you’re going to be gone for the weekend.” Virgil smirked. “We have a haunted castle to explore.”

Punk Goes Pop-Klance au

I’ve got a lot happening in the next few weeks, so I’ll try to get pt 9 up in the next day or so, so y’all have something in case I don’t have time to write. Enjoy!

The rest of the day was spent playing video games and eating junk food, allowing Shiro to let loose and Keith to feel a bit of normalcy after his stressful weekend. It neared 9 when Shiro called it quits, so he could grade a few papers before bed. Keith powered down the X-box and retreated to his room to go to bed early, so he could maybe get a decent amount of sleep.

PJ-clad and ready for bed, Keith crawled under the covers and unlocked his phone to pull up a podcast to listen to. He remembered Hunk telling him about the new video from his “internet rival” and switched from his podcast app to Youtube to check it out quickly. He looked through the comments of his Rihanna video and sure enough there it was.

He snorted and clicked. The page redirected to the video and Keith shook his head when he saw the title, smiling at its ridiculousness, Bring Me To Life Evanescence Remix- also known as Brogaynes is a terrible person and I hate him.

The song opened with an instrumental bit, heavy with anticipation, the beat gradually growing through the first verse. After the first line of the chorus, it dropped hard into a stretch of classic dubstep. The song repeated that pattern, slow build with samples of the original song and heavy drop, one more time before ending on a synthetic trill.

If Keith didn’t have a predisposed hatred of all things dubstep, he would have liked the song. He clicked into the description expecting another snide comment like last time, but it was empty. He scrolled through the comments and saw nothing there either. He thought that was a bit odd and out of character, but dismissed it because they’d never interacted, so there was no reason for him to know anything about this person’s character or be concerned.

He switched back to his podcast app, pulling one up, and closed his eyes. Before he knew it, the hosts said their outro an hour later and Keith was still very awake. He groaned and rolled over to grab his phone. He debated playing another one, but he didn’t feel anywhere near falling asleep, so he opened Twitter with the hope that some mindless scrolling would do the trick.

The racing in his mind gradually slowed as he went through his feed. He passed a list of recommended users, quickly scrolling back up for a double take. No way, he thought, his mind fully alert again, and clicked on the user profile. Sure enough, there it was. BlueTailor69 had a twitter and it was exactly what could be expected. The profile picture was a black background with Fuck You, Brogaynes in white Comic Sans and the description read, I exist solely to spite Brogaynes. Besides, he started it.

Keith couldn’t fight the disbelieving laugh that bubbled up as he scrolled through his tweets. They were pretty much all replies to Keith’s tweets, consisting mostly of various snips and jabs at the songs he covered. He looked again at the most recent tweet, linking to his Evanescence cover, his brows furrowing as he read the caption. Had a shitty weekend so cut me some slack. I can still hate you in any headspace though @BrogaynesMusic ;) That must have been why there was no sarcastic commentary on the video.

Before thinking it through, Keith hit the message button and typed out a quick You ok? Once it sent, he realized that that was probably a bad idea. This guy was likely some troll who just enjoyed fucking with people because he had nothing better to do with his life and wasn’t worth Keith’s time to be worried about. Before he could fully second-guess his decision, his phone pinged.

BlueTailor69: ???

Keith stared at the message bubble, just as confused as to why he was messaging this guy as he was.

BrogaynesMusic: You said you had a shitty weekend. Just asking if you were ok

You stalking me now brogaynes? Was ruining Beyoncé not enough for you?

No, you popped up in recommended and I was just trying to be nice. Sorry for caring. Keith huffed indignantly as he typed the message and sent it.

pairings: hmmmm can we guess

summary: put jenny & giles into my favorite AU (met playing a video game), playing my personal favorite rpg... which is where all the ingame chatter comes from. and don’t you think giles might be a little more confident behind a screen?... tons of easter eggs from the game, buffy, studio killers, and... one david copperfield trick.

brief glossary:

tank = player who takes most of the damage (& redirects it towards themself if necessary) in order to protect squishier targets with less health

tank mage: there’s no term for an offensive (as opposed to defensive) mage so this is the best available one rip

hs = request to heal a player

pots = potions

gg = good game

Whisper messages = this game has no IMing; just a different color in chat and messages nobody can see... so like IMing, just not on a different window/screen

pvp = player-vs-player (in the game i’m using as a base, you’d apply for official pairings to make sure you got someone with the same level range, and it’d be 2v2)

wb = welcome back

tully’s = a real live actual chain of coffee shops

warrior = high defense, low range, high attack

mage = low defense, medium range, medium-high attack (depending) and ability to heal

ranger = medium defense, high range, medium-high attack

She doesn’t care if he is the r1pper, he is a self-entitled jerk and a complete creep and she is not going to play backup for him anymore. If he asks her, a tank mage, for heals one more time, she is just going to--

“Augh!” She rips the headset off and leans back in her seat. Okay, so she’s the only mage in this battlefield. Okay, so there’s three people total. Okay, so he’s taking some damage from the Thorns Curse on the egg that he’s trying to attack. But she’s trying to attack it, too, and now he’s going to get all the EXP, and he expects her to heal him?

jennydarling: use pots

r1pper: all gone

She groans, leaning back in her seat. Okay. Here we go.

jennydarling: i don’t have hs

r1pper: ???

r1pper: are you... serious?

jennydarling: yeah i know i’m a mage with no hs

He gets the last hit, and of course he’s been dealing the most damage because he’s been playing for six years and has probably invested thousands of dollars into this stupid game.

Another reason she Hates This Guy (fame aside, irritating attitude aside) is the way he talks. It’s dw: don’t worry. Nw??? no worries? Just type it out. Or use the normal abbreviation. But of course on him it’s ‘cool’. And he gets thanked for existing.

The ranger begins switching through different costumes. Jenny and r1pper’s characters stand awkwardly, not saying anything. She wants to shoot laser beams at him, but the best the game has is a little face that looks like it’s crying, and also the one you use when you’ve snuck up on somebody and killed them in two shots. So she says nothing, and when the game warps them back to the Village, she gets ready to teleport somewhere where she can train for three hours and not think about stupid famous r1pper and his stupid famous face (currently outfitted in a decorative eye patch she knows for a fact costs over a million Gold on this server) when she sees the little purple message pop up in her chat window.

Great, now he’s Whispering to her.

r1pper->jennydarling: you made a mage account with no hs?

She frowns. Yeah, and what? She tells him exactly that, and there’s a pronounced pause.

r1pper->jennydarling: I thought the whole point of having a mage account was to be able to heal

jennydarling->r1pper: well you thought wrong

jennydarling->r1pper: maybe i just like mana

It’s true. She tried being a warrior once, thinking it might be ‘easier’, but aside from being treated slightly better, the main difference was that she could only use skills after landing a shot with the normal Attack function, and that took forever on a low level. Warriors need to be trained skillfully, and you only have a couple options for attacks, anyway.

Mages? Now, mages are flexible.

She tells him that, too, and he types back haha. Like, what, it’s funny? He just can’t admit that she’s right. Or is totally incompetent at online communications, which is something else she’s also heard, on those forum boards you can’t escape his name on.

‘Huh’ indeed. Jenny spends another half hour arguing with this weirdo about the ‘point’ of using mages before she tells him that maybe he should try using a mage account himself before he goes off at her about what mages are ‘for’, and also to go soak his head. That’s as creative as she can get without the filters catching it.

r1pper: well, thank you for talking to me, anyhow

r1pper: perhaps i’ll see you later

jennydarling: Perhaps I Shall Also See You Later, My Dearest Sir R1pper.

(And it takes forever to type capitals on this game, so she hopes he knows she means it.)

r1pper: dearest!

r1pper: well, i certainly prefer this to fighting

r1pper: good day

And then he logs off, so when she sends are you fucking kidding me it not only censors out the swear, it also tells her USER HAS LOGGED OFF in big yellow NPC text.

Jenny rips her headphones off, makes several violent banging motions with them, and then jams them back on her head as gently as possible because they are expensive and she doesn’t want to break them.

Jenny manages to avoid r1pper for a full week before she applies for PvP and ends up, unbelievably, with him. She prays they can do this without talking, and they do-- and for a moment, it’s easier than with anybody else; she doesn’t have to explain that she can’t heal, and he doesn’t expect any healing: with two tanks, they overtake the opposing side easily, killing first the squishy mage and then their tank.

r1pper: good thing i decided to stock up on pots

jennydarling: a warrior without pots is just an arrogant idiot

JENNYDARLING->CENSOR: a warrior without pots is just an arrogant *****

jennydarling: wow this game is pathetic

r1pper: and now i get to guess what you’re calling me

r1pper: does it start with an f?

jennydarling: too many letters

jennydarling: but close, and i’d call anybody that if they expect every mage in the battlefield to heal them

r1pper: i’ve touched a nerve

r1pper: metaphorically speaking.

r1pper: and i’ve also not gone anywhere near the nerve (anything to do with mages or healing)

r1pper: this is impressive

jennydarling: oh, die

r1pper: that’s just what i’ll do if every mage refuses to heal me

jennydarling: i’m ONE MAGE. let people have their own free will

r1pper: a passionate defense.

r1pper: let people follow tradition?

r1pper: reason?

r1pper: game design?

The system boots them back into the village, where both of them get lost in a crowd of people, and Jenny walks off to find someone to sell her victory pendants to. She has a full set of them now, which means it’s time to get her 50,000 gold, which she will use to save up for a new staff because she is hoping that the prices will drop in the next two weeks.

She’s just hit the OK button on the trade when another Whisper message pops up:

r1pper->jennydarling: hello

jennydarling->r1pper: do you stalk all of your fans?

r1pper->jennydarling: you’re a fan?

jennydarling->r1pper: touche. do you stalk all of your haters

r1pper->jennydarling: i wouldn’t say that, either

jennydarling->r1pper: has anybody told you you talk like if a british bulldog became mayor

r1pper->jennydarling: as a british person, i take offense to that

jennydarling->r1pper: but you don’t take offense as a bulldog or the mayor

r1pper->jennydarling: witty response loading. in the meanwhile, i have a bed to return to

jennydarling->r1pper: with or without a legion of hot chicks who follow your every move and claim you’re the best player to ever grace our humble w

The chat cuts her response off there, and she has to respond with a simple bye, which is unreasonably polite for her and looks unreasonably impolite on screen. But even with the phrase deleted, she can’t help thinking more about it, and also feeling grateful she didn’t get the chance to send it after all.

What do you know? r1pper has a blog.

Jenny finds this out while searching for a tutorial on how to finish Kulin’s quest in the Mushroom Marshland, because she’s been wandering all over the beach and in the lighthouse and absolutely nothing has dropped the Kneecap she’s looking for. She’s not even sure what kind of thing would drop a kneecap. There are skeletons, but they’re bosses and she’s hoping she’s not going to have to deal with them.

Find a party, r1pper suggests. Go together; the skeleton men are likely too difficult for one (even high level) player, especially as opposed to a balanced group of about two rangers, a mage, and a good tank (or two, depending on your level. Better to be safe than sorry). I have now completed the quest twice, and...

It gets worse from there, but the most absolutely awful thing has got to be the twenty comments begging r1pper to be in their party. Or guild, or genitals. Well, the genitals comment is only one person, and it’s probably a bot, but it still frustrates Jenny. She’s been playing this game for almost a decade now, and for what? For some guy with a weird way of talking to out-popular her? She hates him.

Which is also why she asks him to be in her party for the quest the next time she sees him log on (you know, after the barrage of wb r1pper, wb rip!, wb r1pper <3, and assorted other greetings that make her want to vomit).

r1pper->jennydarling: right

r1pper->jennydarling: you understand when i wrote that guide i was under the impression that a mage would heal the tank

jennydarling->r1pper: haha

jennydarling->r1pper: bring pots

r1pper->jennydarling: are you serious?

jennydarling->r1pper: yes. bring your friend

r1pper->jennydarling: ethan?

jennydarling->r1pper: wow i totally expected you to say ‘which of my thousands of friends, and women who want to do me’

r1pper->jennydarling: *and men

jennydarling->r1pper: ????

r1pper->jennydarling: you’re leaving out the men. this is outrageous

r1pper->jennydarling: what kind of social justice mage are you?

jennydarling->r1pper: HA. HA.

jennydarling->r1pper: you get 2/3 if we kill that many; i just need one kneecap for the quest

r1pper->jennydarling: alright

They get four, in the end (being high-leveled and all), and give the last one to Ethan, and Jenny walks away thinking maybe the whole experience wasn’t all that bad. So she goes to r1pper’s blog to find out what he recommends for tanks, and of course it’s all warrior-based and the mage-related advice assumes they’ll be behind the warriors, at all times. Jenny leaves a strongly-worded comment and trusts that he’ll know it’s her.

They join forces a couple more times before Jenny asks if r1pper has any social media. social media? he asks, and then says i don’t have any. And she says you have a blog, and he says, well, i wouldn’t call it anything social, and she says very funny now give me your phone number.

They don’t call each other. Jenny feels like it would just be weird. Instead, they trade stupid phone messages throughout the day. She sits in the library, scrolling through teaching jobs online (looks like a Computer Science/English double major doesn’t actually get you set for life), and occasionally receives a saw this and thought of you (accompanied by pictures of various spitting cats) or just in case (screenshot of a guide for ‘Beginner Mage Players’) or, once, for my biggest fan-- plus a signature so blurry that Jenny can’t even make out the first letter.

She has a guess, though.

jenny: does your name really start with R?

r1pper: yes, actually

jenny: wow

jenny: do i get to find out what it is now?

r1pper: absolutely not

r1pper: you would laugh at me

jenny: and now i’ve got to know

jenny: is it randy

r1pper: good lord

r1pper: no. not half as bad as randall

jenny: randall???

r1pper: it’s what randy is short for

jenny: of course it is

jenny: tell me your name

r1pper: under no circumstances

jenny: tell me what you’re signing, then

r1pper: i’m moving, as it happens

r1pper: a new job in sunny california

jenny: hey, norcal or socal?

r1pper: i feel very uncomfortable telling my most vocal critic that

r1pper: you might break into my home and leave dirt on all my belongings

jenny: (busts every window in south california to find you)

r1pper: that would be frightening

jenny: yay! i live in socal too

r1pper: this is the most excited i’ve ever seen you

r1pper: well, ‘seen’ you

r1pper: for that, if you give me a county, I’ll reciprocate

jenny: who has time for that? i live in sunnydale by the high school

r1pper: really!

r1pper: soon that will be me as well

jenny: wow, nuts

jenny: you know what this means, right?

r1pper: your search will eventually turn up my home and you will burn it to the ground, chanting about mage oppression all the way?

jenny: WE SHOULD MEET UP.

Jenny flips her phone over, rolls her eyes, and doesn’t worry about the texts until she hasn’t gotten a response in five minutes.

r1pper: i don’t think that’s a very good idea.

Oh, of course he doesn’t.

jenny: you’ve been wrong about all your ideas so far

r1pper: not the secret path to the pirate ship on the beach

jenny: fine. not that

jenny: but this isn’t about secret paths

r1pper: it’s about me not knowing if you’re secretly a child!

jenny: say what

She realizes, with a jolt, that she actually hasn’t thought too distinctly about r1pper’s age. She assumes he’s not as old as her, obviously, because what other thirty-five-year-old would waste their time on this, but now it’s hitting her that he might be a teenager.

Not with that speech style, she tells herself, and then tells r1pper that she is a fully grown adult and she has her own house. He relents.

r1pper: so what is your master plan?

jenny: you arrive at my house, i eat your head

r1pper: very attractive.

jenny: how do i know YOU’RE not a kid

r1pper: who just bought an apartment?

jenny: ...fine.

(Okay, she should’ve thought of that. Whatever.)

r1pper: anyway, coming to a stranger’s house is out of the question

jenny: your mommy won’t let you?

r1pper: my common sense won’t let me

jenny: does your common sense let you drink coffee?

r1pper: no, as it happens

jenny: sorry

jenny: what

r1pper: i don’t drink coffee. i drink tea

jenny: right, british

jenny: still not an excuse

r1pper: it isn’t an excuse. it has nothing to do with the fact that tea tastes good, and coffee tastes like pig swill

r1pper: pardon my french

jenny: you’re

jenny: so wrong i don’t even know where to start

jenny: at least let me buy you coffee

r1pper: wouldn’t that be complying with the patriarchal subjugation of mages, or something?

jenny: maybe so

jenny: tully’s on monday at 10 am, and if you’re not there i tell everyone i know ingame that you have a +crit potion fetish

r1pper: i’m tempted to force your hand to see if anyone would believe you

r1pper: it’s possible you’d only lose your few remaining guild members

r1pper ranked the top seven guilds recently, using some kind of Microsoft Excel sheet that was too complicated for Jenny to understand more than the first column of. He gave the excuse that he didn’t actually know of more than seven highly influential guilds, and then tacked on an ‘honorable mention’ for Jenny’s guild, which he knows full well is just her and three other people, no matter how hard she tries to get everybody else to join. For the last six days, she’s had people harassing her to get in, then immediately dropping out when they see it has no members.

jenny: ha. ha.

jenny: show up or else

r1pper: threats! now you see why nobody joins your guild

r1pper: you have to be more personable

jenny: and you’re so personable??

r1pper: actually, yes

r1pper: when not repeatedly harassed by mages

Jenny doesn’t have much of a response to that other than to tell r1pper that he’d better show up at the cafe next week, and she’s going to get him the sweetest possible coffee and so help her he is going to drink it. r1pper says he’d rather stick with his potions, and Jenny slaps her phone down and doesn’t talk to him for an hour.

It’s only while standing in line for her (and his) drink that Jenny realizes she has no idea how she’ll recognize him. She orders a vanilla latte along with her own espresso anyway, thinking that there’ll be enough people who want a vanilla latte later for her to just pass it off onto them in case of an emergency.

Fortunately, she doesn’t have to worry. In the time it takes for her to get her drinks and get back to her seat (behind her laptop, which displays a meta about the game’s stats system she’s been working on), someone has materialized in the seat across from her.

“Oh,” she says, putting the drinks down. She finds she didn’t have a witty opening line planned, and has to compensate. “That was fast.”

“I used my recall scroll,” he says, smiling slightly. He looks a lot more nervous than her, but he does have the promised British accent, which makes Jenny feel considerably closer to her usual confidence.

“And you’re in your level-forties,” she quips, sitting down and sliding him his drink.

“Ouch,” he says, pointedly not touching it. He has light brown hair-- which is the real age giveaway, because it’s thinning-- and glasses. She wouldn’t have expected glasses on the world’s number one RPG star. And a dad sweater-- Jenny wouldn’t have expected that on r1pper, either.

“I feel like I could stand to know your name now,” Jenny says after a moment. r1pper shifts uncomfortably.

“Um-- Giles. Rupert Giles.”

“Rupert?”

“Now you understand--”

“You think Rupert--”

“--why I refused to tell you!”

“--is better than Randall?”

“Yes,” he says, and sits back. “Did you poison the coffee?”

“I didn’t poison anything,” Jenny says, flipping her hair. “Rupert.”

“Well, if you’re going to say it like that, we may as well revert to using our usernames,” he mutters, lifting the top of the cup.

“You don’t do that,” Jenny says, and he stops.

“What?”

“Don’t lift that. It’s going to spill on you and burn you.”

r1pper--Rupert--whoever-he-is doesn’t look like he really believes her, so she shrugs and replaces the cap as best he can.

“Um-- so the rest of my guild is fighting a boss right now,” Rupert says, sort of staring out the window.

“Gee, and I’m so sorry to keep you from it,” Jenny mutters, taking a much longer sip of her espresso than is ever necessary.

“No-- No, I mean that I-- I canceled, to meet you.” He laughs quietly, looking at his cup. “I’ve been coached on how to talk to you.”

“Oh, really?” Jenny takes another sip. “Tell whoever did it that they did a bad job.”

“Everybody in my guild joined in, as it happens,” Rupert says. “I have been told to ask if you like Mexican food.”

“Sure, yeah,” Jenny says. “Do you want to go get some?”

“I feel like it pairs badly with coffee,” Rupert muses, and then takes a sip. “Oh, God.” He scrunches his entire face up and doesn’t de-scrunch it for several seconds.

“It’s sugary,” Jenny tells him.

“So you did poison it,” he says, putting the cup down. “Am I expected to drink this?”

“All of it,” Jenny says. “That’s why you have a Small.”

“And you have... the opposite,” Rupert notes, gesturing.

“I’m very good at what I do,” Jenny says, half-emptying the cup in one gulp. “God, that’s good.”

“This is frightening to watch.”

“Listen--” Jenny puts her cup down for a moment. “If you want to go get Mexican or something--”

“My coaches didn’t ask if I liked Mexican,” Rupert says. Then he adds, “but I don’t mind it, so if you’re offering--”

“I am,” Jenny says, very firmly. She also tosses her hair a bit, for effect. “Next week?”

“I’m starting my job next week.”

“Ooh, let me guess.” Jenny sits back. “Programming?”

“Absolutely not. It’s a, um, daycare center.”

She leans in again. She’s actually not sure she heard. “A what?”

“For the... for the elementary school. You know, aftercare. And then before that it functions as a-- as a preschool, you know--”

Jenny snorts.

“Have you told your guild?”

“Why would I?”

“Because nobody’s going to believe me if I say r1pper works at a daycare,” Jenny mutters, taking another sip. She considers trying Rupert’s drink, but then thinks twice, mostly because it really does have a lot of sugar.

“Right,” Rupert says, fidgeting with his drink. He pulls the cardboard coffee sleeve up and down his cup, and then mentions, “I tried playing as a mage.”

Jenny tries not to act surprised. “And?”

“And it was more difficult than I thought. I’m sorry.” He pauses, and Jenny is just managing to figure out how to take all this when he adds, “You can have my username on that account-- it’s 3619737. I didn’t want any... similarity to my other username. And it’s virtually impossible to remember.”

“Right,” Jenny says. “So you’re... asking me to help you level up?”

“That is exactly what I am asking, yes,” Rupert says, flushing more than when they were talking about getting Mexican food together.

“Can’t use your famous guildmates, I guess,” she mutters into her cup.

“Speaking of guilds,” Rupert says, “I was thinking of asking you to join mine.” And then he takes another sip of his drink, and coughs. “As I said: poison.”

“Clearly the sugar’s going to your head.” Jenny finishes off her cup and tosses it into the trash from across the room; the barista gives her a dirty look.

“Putting your skills as a mage to good use,” Rupert notes, and Jenny looks at him. “Ranged attacks.”

“Oh, shut up. And you know I’m working on my own guild.”

“That’s one way to put it,” Rupert says. “Please let me pour this out.”

“No,” Jenny says. “And what exactly would your guild be offering me?”

“A party member whenever you need one,” Rupert says, “and probably some help if someone tries to player kill you on the beach.”

“I can take care of myself,” Jenny says, crossing her arms.

“I know you can, which is why I’m asking you to join. I wouldn’t take on anyone who needed help.”

“I don’t--”

“I didn’t say you did,” Rupert says, half-smiling. “But you have a talent for dragging me into arguments.”

Jenny mutters something irritably and tucks a strand of hair out of the way.

“Fine,” she says, eventually. “I’ll consider it.”

“That’s all I am willing to ask.” Rupert gets up, giving his cup an odd glance. Jenny sighs; he takes it with him when he leaves. She squints after him to make sure he doesn’t toss it out the second he shuts the doors.

Two days later, Jenny is being plagued with Whisper messages.

20 memories & isms I love about you.

1. He sent me flowers at work. Twice 🥰

2. He left work to help me fix my tire, outside my ex’s house. Never drove on a highway before that day. (no I shouldn’t have dated the guy, but that particular Gemini is the asc degree of our composite chart, he’s the reason we ever met at all, and hubby is the reason we broke up so...lesson learned)

3. He made me eat his mom’s food. Not only that but excitedly. He’d be like “mom is making hot spaghetti and you’re gonna come over and have some”...I’d say no thx 20 times but he wasn’t hearing it. Hot spaghetti day. I felt weird having someone’s mom cook for me. She probably felt weird too tbh, but he was so over the top happy about mom, food, and me, that it didn’t seem to matter and worked out fine 😆

4. He’s so forward, and bold as hell. I’m irritatingly shy and very guarded. Literally the only way he got me was because he’d act before I could really even think about it or think myself out of it. Winners mind.

5. He moved me into his moms house. I was not ok. Not not not. My pride is...well it exists, and burns like fire whenever help is given. I will never ask in all my life and idc, feels better that way. Will gladly die first. My rotors were broken though (I could write a book just about car problems fr), I needed two and it was gonna take awhile. I’d be in the city and he’d be way out there. He’s like nah. You stay. He insisted...and I stayed. Staying was not a me thing, he changed that.

6. He gave me a baby. After all of the years I didn’t have periods, needed pills to have a normal body, all of the times I talked myself out of that sort of life altogether because I clearly didn’t have the guy (ex was not a kid guy) or the working body parts to even do that, must not be for me. First time in our new apartment, boom baby.

7. First time in our slightly bigger and nicer apartment, boom baby 2. We started actually using protection after she was born. Clearly we can.

8. He worked stupidly long hours and put up with so many people that just had no fn clue, it put a strain on everything, most of all him. When he got the offer for Indy, I pushed it. And pushed it. And pushed. May as well have pushed him right out the door, we were going, because those people suck and you’ll never get the chance to be seen while you’re doing that glorified delivery guy’s job for him. We’re going. So, we did, and he got me out of this damn state. At least once.

9. He loved getting lost with me, and it was my favorite thing. Indiana is a beautiful state and I encourage anyone to get lost there, on purpose.

10. I forgot work. He caused some serious change. Everyone else lost their job, including hubby’s favorite person ever, Jonathan. Today he’s the sole survivor of a mom and pop shop, and I’m so unbelievably proud of him. The best part though, is two of the guys from work used to come see me at my new work all the time, with all their bar bitches 😆 They were my favorite people, I was always so excited to see them. Hubby tried to get them back on, and did for one of them. And when the bigger boss needed a new smaller boss bc hubby was leaving the state, hubby fought like hell for Jonathan. Like Highlander, there can only be one *sksksksksksk* They looked at a couple and hubs was like no only Jon knows the ways of the force. They hired him back, Jon has sent him some of the sweetest thank you messages...it changed his life, and hubs still loves him very much. It’s adorable.

11. Screamy baby Shmoo, she was a screamy baby, and so very beautiful. Baby Bam was like a dream, she was the perfect baby in every way. My screamy baby Shmoo was also a perfect baby, with a pitch that could break glass and sometimes she just wanted to practice for hours. Usually I got her to bed with mama snuggles & milk, singing Alison Krauss and rocking. Sometimes though, on the roughest nights, it’d be over an hour before I’d open the door with screamy baby still in a fit, and he’d take her. He’s so warm and calm, he’d win every single time, and I’d be like...zzzzz tysm ily tyty zzzz....

12. His jokes. He’s not funny (yes he is don’t tell him). He thinks he’s funny. He jokes all day every day about everything always. The girls know when dad says something to be skeptical bc he said they gotta go outside and till the land with tiny shovels, and when I roll my eyes they know he’s full of it. What’s funnier, his mom was the kind of person that took things literally always. Every time him and his goofy dad were being sarcastic, I’d have to tell her that because they’d have her believing crazy stuff. My kids share a lot of her isms, that’s one. My son absolutely does not joke, he is quite literal (so far), and I always have to scold hubby or tell lil guy nooooo he’s kidding. I don’t talk about his silliness nearly enough and I should, that’s him ❤️

13. His relationship with his mom. His mom was always on the...I wouldn’t say weaker side, but older, regular pain, on disability. He was her BABY. Her eyes lit up like Christmas when he entered the room. She loves him so so much. His sister... You know the kind, or...just imagine, probably close. He hated it. He got his job pretty young and just kept it. Always had money, always offered to help his mom, always was like IM FINE MOM. She just wanted to do for him, and he’s always been the kind of guy that wants to do for himself. And she was so funny, she’d slip $20 into the diaper bag and tell me “don’t tell him”, putting it on me. So we’d get in the car. And I’d be like there’s $20 in the diaper bag, knowing he’s gonna be pissed if he finds it (she needs it). And he’d get it, run into the house, set it on her table, and run out the door while she ran after him hollering protests 😆 Lots of other stories too. I miss her so much, I can’t even imagine how much he must.

14. His relationship with his sister, and other whirlwind people. He’s like a rock. I’ve spent lots of time with his sister, but not at once. The one day I did, I came home and my brain was so full of her bazillion ideas and impulsive let’s do this and just one thing, opposite thing, different subject, back to the subject, hey let’s do this, omg I have an idea. I love her to death but I had to sit and just...dump my brain. Ask myself for my own input bc I’d lost wtf...what were we doing again?!? Him though? Doesn’t miss a beat. No...no...no...I’ll think about it...no...no..change subject. No issue saying no. Back then I was like thank god, girl would have me on a cruise to Aruba tomorrow with costume jewelry and black face before I could even think to protest. Not him.

15. Making up. The difference between Taurus moon and Sag moon is that Taurus moon stays mad for the rest of their lives (hello...) and Sag moon wakes up in the morning like nothing happened in the history of ever. This was something that irritated me THE MOST. Don’t make me laugh, I’m pissed at you. Over the years, it became the only way we’d talk at all sometimes. Is certainly the only reason we made up, countless times. He never stopped trying to make me smile, even if I wanted nothing to do with it.

16. Acts of Service. Is not mine, which is either words time or touch and I really can’t decide which. All. He speaks a whole other language. He will let me nap, or take the kids somewhere, he will spontaneously clean or go grocery shopping, walk the dog, mow the lawn, hang out at the birthday party. It didn’t start right away, more and more as he learned my isms. He’ll make me coffee as I’m coming down the stairs. I rarely have to ever ask for any practical thing. He knows my orders for anything, recently there’s been twice that he literally read my mind before I spoke. I try to do the same for him as much as I can, because I know that’s his language and I really appreciate him.

17. Bedroom games. The man knows my body like a map, no, an Excel spreadsheet 😭, and how to get every reaction he’s looking for. He is the only man to ever satisfy my insatiable ass. He made me a whole new person in that regard. He says the same about me. Never an issue there. It’s this far down the list cuz it’s not the most important, but it’s pretty important too so there that is.

18. We share the same goals. We judge the same way, like why did they wrap this like that it looks sketchy. We parent the same. We decide the same. We critically think and weigh ideas the same. We walk the same line in the same direction. If anything he’s too negative sometimes, but that’s his own personal thing. Can’t be full of Capricorn and not lean more toward pessimism (not “realism”) sometimes I think. If it’s worth it, I’ll try to coax him to middle ground. Sometimes it’s a battle, but only if I’m really sure. Usually, he’s right, so I just let him lead.

19. When I was pregnant with my son. Initially. It was hell. His car was trashed, mine was broken and thousands of dollars to fix (this particular car in this particular year has this and what a coincidence it was particularly my problem...cars, I’m telling ya). I was two feet out the door with his shit, but his sister’s issues led to my heart. Because her kids. I love them very much, of course they can stay here and not with some strange person hell no. I cannot describe how angry I was at him. HE strapped backpacks onto his back and walked to the nearest store. Hauled so much crap in a huge backpack and just his arms. Over the course of two months. He quit drinking. He went above and beyond to do get offer or provide anything I could even imagine. More romantic then I think I’d ever seen him before. At least...it had been some time anyway. Of course...he was lying to me. The whole time. To what extent idk. Regarding the work shit, idk. Thus the question and the dream and the crazy and the...crazy 😞 Wanted to piss me off boy he got that tenfold. His actions during this time period are 💯 why I stayed. He was clearly trying like hell to prove to me he could try, and it’s more than anyone I’ve ever known has even bothered to “bother” with. I was impressed, and proud. Respect counts for a lot more than love sometimes, and at the time I respected him.

20. He’s an amazing father. There are so many stories I couldn’t possibly write them all. Our son though, he chose daddy, right from the start. Nothing like our daughters, nor any kid I’d known. He’d scream, FOR his dad. He’d only sleep on his shoulder. Hubby held this baby for hours on end. If he didn’t baby would demand it, but it was very natural to them both. Baby wanted a bottle, and hubby to give it to him. It blew my mind. Hubby got his little teammate and together they’ve changed my life and perspective in ways I couldn’t have ever imagined.

I’ve spent so long sporadically venting on here that I don’t think I’ve ever posted the sweet things. So many great memories and daily...everything...are missing, so many years and little moments. That would take forever. Its always been my frustrations, which was the purpose. This is my heart. No matter what happens, all of these things will always be true.

right!! it’s like a main priority for me in character building! ohoooo that combo is very interesting, because i feel like aquarius and scorpio are not really compatible, in that aquarius influence can make you very distant and unwilling to address your emotions and their importance, but your moon (which controls your emotions) is SO preoccupied with exactly that, which might exacerbate that scorpio intensity because you feel that constant pull between hiding and revealing your true emotions. but then taurus rising kind of balances it out and makes you at least appear to be level headed? so even if you’re suffering on the inside at least people think u got it all together.

uh it was fucking INCREDIBLE... i think what sums up the night best for me when i was watching him dance to FROM HER TO FUCKING ETERNITY and it was incredibly reminiscent of watching birthday party vids like he dropped to his knees at one point you just got the impression that he was pouring his fucking life into it, & (Reassuringly) that he’s still passionate about it and about performing like there was something so special about that moment for me because i had been... really worried about the gig because obviously sk*leton tree and while obviously that was an enormous component to the show and the atmosphere OF the show ... i dont wanna be all facetious and say there was a sense of being able to come out on top, of moving through shit because obviously there’s a lot more to it then that but there was something hugely powerful about that particular moment.... ok anyways

he started (sitting) w/ anthrocene and i was crying about a half second in and everyone was just silent and fixed utterly on him... his voice is a lot stronger than it is in the album and what’s already a beautiful song ... idk... fuckin swelled in that arena.... he played jesus alone and magneto after and... for me i felt simultaneously Extremely close and distant to those songs which is sort of the way i’ve always felt about them but something about Being There and him Being There intensified that x1000

uh and then like. what i did not expect in the slightest happened which him singing 'can't remember anything at all' (ie higgs boson blues) and from the first fucking WORD it hit me that this was not a playthrough of skeleton tree (which, don’t get me wrong, wouldn’t have been less of a concert) and it. i mean it really hit me... like his music has been really really important to me for YEARS and i’ve dreamed of seeing him forever and i’d somehow convinced myself there was no way i’d ever get to hear that song live. let alone from her to eternity which was next (and is one of my favourite songs of all time)

like i cant even express how spectacular it was to see him play live at all let alone play that, and yeah like i mentioned that was just about THE exact second i realised it was him i was listening to him and seeing (sort of seeing i was crying a lot at this point lmaaoo) him there... he followed that up with tupelo (!!!!!!!!!!!!) which was ... again, amazing - again, not something i thought i’d ever get to hear but i’m incredibly grateful i did. that song has a really weird really special place in my heart and i was half beaming half crying through the whole thing - he played jubilee street after that and i mean... fuck.

the next four i don’t wanna talk about so much because i a) cried an obscene amount, b) they’re just really important to me i don’t want to touch them but he did hit us with - in the following order - the ship song, into my arms, girl in amber, i need you. goes without saying that i cried but more than that i was so .. idk full i cant explain this at all it was just like listening to them but EVERYTHING was focused on the fact that he was there, singing, and i was more aware of the music than ever, more aware of tiny nuances that change with live performances it was. something else.

he then played red right hand which. obviously went the FUCK off, the lighting was gorgeous in it, he was incredible fucking growling out the lyrics (also, iconically changing you see him in your nightmares you see him in your dreams to you see him in your nightmares you see him in your tweets), warren was KILLING IT... i’d had a sneaking suspicion they’d play it as soon as higgs boson blues started and i realised it wasn’t what i’d expected but despite it almost being a granted it did NOT let me down... it’s already an incredible song but hearing/seeing/living it live was beyond anything i could have imagined

and uh then he played what’s up there with imo his best songs, definitely in my top five ... the mercy seat. i . do not know how i survived this, i do not know how i am currently typing this, i do not know How i exist right now. i don’t know how to talk about it either really but it blew my fucking mind there was so much energy in it so much life so much power and idk if it’s presumptuous to say everyone in that fucking hall was transfixed but i can’t imagine it having been any other way. pretty much every concert i go to i zone out horrendously during some songs but here i was hooked the entire time and this song was the Prime example of that i didn’t take my eyes off him i COULDN’T take my eyes off him screaming and singing and EVERYTHING and i couldn’t think or feel anything but that song.

he finished with distant sky and skeleton tree which obviously was beautiful, and i ... did not expect an encore. until they came on and did one. with five. fucking. songs.

mermaids (he played a lot off push the sky away actually i was pleasantly surprised) - incredible, obviously. then he played jack the ripper which TORE MY fucking lungs out

and then everyone was yelling for stagger lee

like.. the fact that they played 5 songs kind of really... hammered home for me the notion that he’s doing what he loves up there and it was in jack the ripper and stagger lee that personally i felt happiest to be there? the discomfort i’d felt before the gig and all the nerves finally fell away and i was incredibly aware that it was me, there, seeing nick cave, who was also there, play some of my favourite fucking songs, which were also there. like obviously there was that backbone of it’s the skeleton tree tour, obviously he was playing those songs but.. yeah. anyway in both of those his stage presence was incredible and... oh my god he was fckin prowling around and.... he followed THAT up with (’for that guy’) people ain’t no good and i was crying yet again (i cried twice before the gig started it was a Very teary night) and again i feel incredibly lucky to have gotten to see that.

and then push the sky away, which was an ending that was a little surprising to me (idk why) but in the way that i realised as they played that it was perfect. i don’t wanna say much about it because ... i’ve just written about it in my diary at length abt how much it meant to me but... it was as beautiful if not more beautiful than ever and i’m so lucky to have seen it

I was recently involved in an accident on my motorcycle with a Hertz rental car. I purchased the bike 9 days before the accident and was planning on adding the motorcycle to my car insurance policy. What is the cheapest major auto insurance company for a 19 year old male, with no violations or accidents? Going to be buying first car in the next couple weeks and need insurance. Getting a much older used car so I don't car much about comprehensive and such, just want state minimum coverage (20/40/15 in IL) to be legal. I've seen quotes from Progressive, Geico, The General and Safe Auto. So far, geico has been considerably the lowest. I've just passed my driving test and was looking to get insured on my mums 1.6l Audi 80. So I went onto some comparison web sites and put my mum as main driver and me as the named driver and I was getting quotes of around 1900 (Fully comp). So I thought I would see what it would cost if my mum got the likes of a corsa or a fiesta or something. I changed the car details on the website and the quotes came out at 3000 + (Fully comp). I just don't understand how an Audi can be considerably cheaper than a corsa's and fiestas etc. Any explaination on why this is would be much appreciated.
