I’m relistening to “putting down roots” as well as reading through the transcript and the wiki, and I have to say I’m really struggling with it? 😭 I feel very silly, but I don’t fully understand everything. Like…is it supposed to be implied that Maddie left the doctor for Gerald? Why did he have Gerald’s medical file? Was the grief counseling because Maddie left, or had he killed her and it took the police a while to figure it out? Who are the “star crossed lovers” supposed to be?

Again, I’m sorry bc I’m sure this is just me having zero comprehension skills, but I am confused 😔

A/N: I have a pretty dark idea for a part 2, which I’m gonna write too bc I can’t be stopped 😂

She stood across from him, the War Room table between them.  Where was she, really?  That was what Aleksander wondered every time he saw her through the tether, where was his Summoner?  Alina appeared to him in her kefta from the Winter Fete, but he knew that particular garment was long long lost.  How did he appear to her?  Was he how she last saw him, or did she see his scars?

“I meant what I told you, all those months ago,” Aleksander said.  “I promised that you and I would change the world.”  “That is never going to happen,” Alina countered.  “I’ll destroy the only thing you have left.”  Her words were purposeful, her glare icy, and Aleksander immediately knew what she meant.  His Army was fractured, his nation was now embroiled in a Civil War, there was little that Aleksander still held dear.  Except…

“You wouldn’t dare,” he said, his hands tingling as panic filled him.  “Wouldn’t I?  You have no idea what I will or won't do.”  Aleksander stepped around the table, causing Alina to stumble backwards a bit.  “Mark my words, Miss Starkov, if you even think about harming my wife, I will make you suffer as you have never suffered before.”  Alina, to her credit, did not blanch, did not show the fear she no doubt felt, but drew herself up straighter.

“I’d like to see you try.”  Rage filled him, and Aleksander summoned the Cut, slicing the tether-version of Alina in two.  The map of Ravka on the far wall took the brunt of his anger, ironically directly over the ink symbolizing the Fold, and Aleksander let his anger carry him through the corridors to you.  “Inessa!” he called, summoning the head of his oprichniki.  “Yes, moi soverennyi?”

“Y/N is to be guarded at all times from this point out,” your husband ordered.  “I want at least 7 soldiers on her detail around the clock, our most skilled and deadliest.  No one gets within 20 feet of her without my say so, am I clear?”  Inessa nodded, keeping pace with Aleksander as he strode down the hall.  “Da, moi sovernnyi.  Is there anyone in particular you’d like on her detail?”

“Pasha and Liza, otherwise, use your judgment.”  “Yes, sir.”  Inessa bowed and turned to leave, preparing to make her new assignments.  Aleksander found you at your desk in your shared rooms, and as soon as he stepped through the door, he sent four of his nichevo’ya to stand watch.  “Aleksander, what’s going on?” you asked, rising from your seat.  “What happened?”

“Alina has threatened to…” he choked back tears, and you knew then that whatever had happened was serious.  “She threatened to kill you.”  “W-what?”  You hadn’t seen the Sun Summoner since the Winter Fete, but you’d heard how powerful she’d become, and you knew how deep her hatred for your husband ran.  Alina would do whatever was necessary to take him down, and you knew that if you got in her way, you’d be just another obstacle in her way.

Fear had your legs trembling, and you shakily lowered yourself back to your seat.  Aleksander took your hands and followed you down, kneeling at your side.  “Y/N, look at me, darling.  I will not let her hurt you.  If she even gets near you, she will die.  And it will be a slow, painful death.”  “Sasha?”  “Yes, dragotsennaya devushka?”  “I’m scared.”  Your husband gently tugged on your hands, and you fell into his lap, burying your face in his chest, his arms wrapping snugly around you.

“I know, Y/N,” he said.  “I am too.  But I will always protect you, until I am dust on the wind, I will defend you with my life.”  You said nothing, snuggling closer to your husband, letting the scent of his cologne calm you.  “I love you, Y/N,” Aleksander said, kissing your forehead and stroking your hair.  “My sweet darling, I love you so much.  I’ll always keep you safe.”  “I love you too, Aleksander,” you said.  The Sun Summoner could make whatever threats she liked; if she decided to move, Aleksander would be ready.

Team Star Headcanons

This got dummy long so it's under the cut but I am rotating them all in my brain

Giacomo

Despite having the most stereotypical "delinquent" appearance of all the members, Giacomo is actually the closest thing to a model student that Team Star has. He's extremely organized, motivated, and actually pretty staunchly against breaking the rules unless he has to, so he's a straight A student and has never missed a class

However, he still has a little bit of apprehension about appearing to be like the uptight student council president he used to be, so he purposefully does things to make people think he's more of a slacker than he actually is. He turns in assignments after the deadline and shows up to class late so the teachers don't start getting expectations of him, but they quickly realize he's doing it on purpose when all assignments are turned in exactly 24 hours late and he shows up exactly 5 minutes after the bell with obvious consistency

He was student council president during much of the bullying of Team Star, and still beats himself up about not noticing it sooner or putting a stop to it until the consequences were right in front of him

He was and is the most uptight member of Team Star despite his seemingly relaxed demeanor. He's prone to over-planning, panicking when plans don't work out, and overall is pretty bad at improvising. He's far more high-strung than he lets on. Team Star has done a lot to mellow him out and give him the freedom to express himself, screw up without consequence, and just chill for a few. He's much happier now without the pressure

He loves bass-boosted, ear-splitting music and flashing DJ lights, but is also aware that many people have issues with those (including his buddy Atticus). Bc of that he always has a grunt check with any new members or would-be foes to make sure they don't have overstimulation or photosensitivity issues. Someone getting hurt during a rave would, in his words, "kill the vibe"

He's trying SO HARD to be lofi girl

Mela

She's naturally very cute: she has strawberry blond hair, wide blue eyes, freckles, a dainty stature, a high-pitched voice, and isn't very good at most school subjects. It makes her instantly endearing to basically everyone who meets her, but it also means many people find her annoying / frustrating off the bat and/or don't take her seriously, which really bothered her and lead to her very carefully curated Bad Girl appearance

Mela is very easily frustrated and has a hair trigger temper, which her bullies often used to antagonize her. They purposefully riled her up and caused her to lash out, so Mela gained a reputation as a troublemaker from the teachers. This caused her to fall further behind in school and exacerbated the previous issues

To get people to leave her alone, Mela created a very curated, if inauthentic, "bad girl" persona where she made herself look and act immediately aggressive and rude to everyone. If she didn't let anyone know anything about her, they couldn't find things to set her off anymore, and she'd avoid all the bullying. It did actually work, and people left her alone, but she ended up becoming so feared that she had no friends and no one wanted to be around her. She ended up hanging out with all the academy pokemon instead and developing a close bond with each of them.

Even after she comes back to the Academy she struggles the most out of all the students to fit back into things-- she comes across as a "problem child" which gives the teachers expectations that eventually become a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's only after a long, heated discussion with Clavell that they can start to work past her snippy exterior and get to the heart of the matter. When the teachers give her more patience and extra help, however, they grow to realize she actually does care about learning and is quite sweet

She loves making art. She is also not very good at making art. At the start, she's pretty defensive about it, but is shocked to find the students in art club are extremely welcoming and compliment her work, which makes her beyond happy and extremely motivated to keep trying. Those art club members end up becoming her first non-team-star friends in a long time, and she always brings them out to the courtyard so that her pokemon friends can pose and model for them to draw

She gets really really red when she's embarrassed. Her old, derogatory nickname was "the red-hot girl" because of her temper, but Team Star only ever uses it to joke about how she flushes now

Atticus

Low-hanging fruit here but this man has autism. He cannot read the mood of a room to save his life, and has been known to make extended, sometimes uncomfortable eye contact with whoever he happens to be talking to. He once infodumped to Giacomo about Phoenician Purple for three hours

His speech patterns are partially because of his extreme interest in history and partially because he finds older prose to be more precise in meaning than modern day slang. He is very clear about saying exactly what he means and being extremely specific, so he finds modern day slang with all its double meanings to be hard to follow and hard to articulate his thoughts with. Older prose has these same issues, but no one tell him that

He struggles to pay attention to things unless his hands are busy. Teachers often wondered if he was paying attention in class while sketching designs or sewing things, but it actually helps him focus better

His three greatest skills are his fashion design, his flexibility, and his skill as a nail artist. He can make you the most dazzling star of the school prom and then do a standing backflip when he's done

Atticus cares very little about social conventions or expectations. It worries people like Penny, who fears it makes him a target for bullying because he is so outwardly strange, but it's honestly fine by him. Despite receiving some pretty horrible treatment at the hands of his bullies in the past, he's bothered very little by it, and cares even less about what people think of him now. He has good friends all around him, so if people think he's weird that's on them; he's gonna keep doing what he wants whether or not it gives him a reputation

Atticus is easily the most mentally stable of anyone in the group. Nothing bothers this man whatsoever; he is thriving and in his lane. Despite this, however, he is never asked for advice because he only gives it in Shakespearean riddles

Ortega

He is an exceptional mechanic, and with the help of Atticus has actually made far more impressive vehicles than even the Starmobiles. His pride and joy is a pastel pink bedazzled motorcycle with a sidecar for his Dacsbund. He can't actually drive it because he's 12 and doesn't have a license, but still

All his mechanic tools are covered in rhinestones and his jumpsuit is pastel pink. He is also a straight, cis man, he just personally beat gender roles unconscious with his gold-encrusted staff. He would have kicked it too, but that would ruin his dress shoes and he's too classy for that

He's sassy and snarky, but it's not a defense mechanism like Mela or a consequence of social isolation like Penny, he's just kind of a brat. Team Star has done a lot to humble him and get him to understand the ~value of friendship~ but he was and still kind of is a spoiled little demon

In terms of raw intelligence, Ortega might be the smartest person in Team Star. He's skipped a few grades, excels at basically everything he sets his mind to, and couples it with pretty high emotional intelligence too. If anyone needs help with homework and is willing to swallow their pride enough to ask, he'll easily be able to help

Ortega has excellent dexterity, which makes him a fantastic piano player and quite good at working with very fine machinery. He also got really into baton twirling at one point because he thought it looked cool, so he can do lots of really neat tricks with his staff and pens and whatnot. He loves to bask in the attention that the grunts give him whenever he shows off (which is often. He LOVES showing off)

He has no patience for anything whatsoever. Eri has to hold him back like a rabid chihuahua every time they go somewhere because he is very used to being waited on constantly. Rich boy rehabilitation

Eri

Every one and their mother hcs this but [points at Carmen] Lesbians. Carmen and Eri are genuinely THE power couple; they’re both smart and gorgeous and well-liked by everyone. Carmen is still shocked Eri didn’t snap her like a toothpick bc it would have been deserved but Eri is just that nice. Stop bullies by kissing them so good they realize they like girls

Everyone else in team star stays up until ungodly hours for assorted reasons but Eri is up at like 5 so she can work out for two hours before class. She’s a little disappointed no one wants to join in her workouts but that’s ok! They need their rest. The benefit of Eri’s workouts is that she can carry a team star member on each arm like one of those muscle dudes on the beach, and she does, bc it’s cool

She’s a luchadora! She plays a heel named La Princesa in Paldean wrestling tournaments but it’s an open secret that she’s super sweet out of the ring and always treats her opponents to ice cream afterwards. Genuine treat to be suplexed by her. Despite being able to, she would NEVER hurt someone for real

Atticus had to tailor her outfits bc they didn’t fit. She’s like 6’, curvy, and built like a tractor trailer, so she cannot wear unisex shirts without ripping the damn sleeves off. She’s very kyaa about it. Very >o< about it

Cries during kid’s movies. And ASPCA commercials. And most things actually. The power of friendship does and has moved her to tears. She is mesmerized by the beauty of the world

Penny

Another popular hc but (gestures vaguely at Penny's everything) transfemme. She has the dysphoria hoodie, the six cats, the cybercrime, the depression nest, whatever is going on with her hair, etc. She got sent to "study abroad" and went on HRT I will stand by this until the end of time. She washes down her progesterone with monster energy. Gamer girl. I bet she even plays Bloodborne

Has severe social anxiety / trauma that stemmed from the bullying and just got significantly worse over time. She orders all her groceries online and has them delivered, so she never has to leave her room and does most of her stuff remotely. If / when she does go outside, it's always at weird hours so she doesn't run into anyone. The mere prospect of going into the cafeteria around lunchtime is mortifying to her. wayyyyy too many people. Her anxiety is significantly worse in the academy, and she's able to function better outside of it

She has support systems for days. Aside from her new friends Nemona / Arven / the protag, she has Team Star, Clavell, an actual therapist, a xanax prescription, and six emotional support veevees. Team Star especially does a lot to help reintroduce her to classes and get over the worst of her anxiety so she can go back to school-- and it works! She becomes much more open, less stressed, and happier postgame as she and her friends help each other out

Penny's dad is super supportive but also super embarrassing about it. He is the ultimate trans rights guy but also wears neon rainbow shirts that say "ALLY" in big letters. Penny kept the worst of the bullying a secret from him because there is zero doubt in my mind he would just roll up to the bullies' houses and beat the crap out of them. He WILL throw hands with a 13 year old if they upset his little girl and he is not afraid to admit that. I'm hyping up this man so bad

Penny is an only child (or younger sibling if u hc Peony to be her dad) but has so, SO many cousins who are constantly doting on her. She is quick to try and retreat to her room during reunions and whatnot because she's easily overwhelmed by the attention, but it all gets better postgame. She ends up dragging Arven to her house for the holidays because he doesn't have a proper family and the cousins are completely enamored with him. He's polite, he's happy to help with the cooking, he has a cute dog... Penny's family is absolutely delighted she has such a good friend and Arven is more than happy to soak up all that familial attention. It's a good exchange

She is an insanely picky eater. Arven is taking this as a challenge, and is always trying to make new sandwiches that she likes. Seeing as Nemona and the protagonist would probably eat salami off the floor if given the opportunity, getting a good review from Penny in particular always boosts his ego. He's also made it his mission to sneak in new ingredients in the hopes of expanding her absolutely atrocious palette. It's not going well, but damn if he isn't trying

i wanna touch on how your family n friends reacts to the break up first...

well lets just leave it at cove's parents don't talk to you anymore and you are not welcome even near their house

in fact cliff even moves out of sunset bird because he's so distraught and if cove comes to visit, which he does and even moves in with his dad, he sees how sad cove is and it kills him

he regrets ever moving to sunset bird and asking you to be his friend.

cliff never forgives himself for this, even though it isn't his fault, he feels like it is and even if (and when) cove gets over this betrayal, cliff hates that this happened anyway.

cliff doesn't send you any text, he just blocks you

but if you send a text before he can do so, which is possible since he's busy comforting his son

then he responds like this..

"please don't text this number anymore. and leave my son alone. you've really betrayed him.. me too. i thought you were a good person y/n. i hope you're happy with him"

she refuses to waste her breathe or time on someone who hurt her baby

she starts by saying how much she loved you and everything you did for cove, but ends it with how she can never forgive you for leaving cove like this

your family is very disappointed

even though they don't cut you off, you're distant and if you marry baxter, they don't come celebrate with you

your mom is surprisingly very tender about it and she is the one who misses you the most

she cries over your pictures when you were growing up, and when everything was perfect

she knows you're an adult and things happen, this is the way the cookie crumbles sometimes but the holden's were like family too and everything is just hard

she can't even look at cove when she sees him

once she even broke down crying in front of him, she could see the dark circles under his eyes and yet he still smiled at her and gave his best "hello"

cove ends up comforting her in the middle of the grocery store parking lot...

she doesn't leave the house for awhile. she's so ashamed and embarrassed because she can hear the whispers of the townsfolk

shes just blinded with rage and sadness, even thought she's yelling she ends up crying

she tells you not to come around for awhile, she can't bare to look at you and look at cliff (and cove) the next day

"please don't bother coming home, you're not welcome here for the foreseeable future. i thought we raised you better than this."

your sister doesn't know what to do

she never expected this from you

she hugs you while you cry, you're still her sibling but she also can't forgive you so easily

she and cove weren't close, but definitely closer than baxter and she saw how much he loved you. and she sees how much he's hurting, as he's slowly gathering all his stuff out of your shared house.

she helps him pack his stuff and gives him a hug, lets him cry and tells cove that he's always been like family, and will always be

she watches him cry in his car before finally driving off and suddenly liz is so mad

all this upset and upheaval for what? a traumatized, flirty victorian-emo man who stayed for a summer and told you to fuck off and then came back 5 years later?

she doesn't yell, but between the quiet and half empty house, liz scolds you and flies back home the same night...

"i love you but i can't believe you threw this all away for someone you knew for ONE summer 5 years ago... i'm so disappointed in you."

derek is ready to fly over to cove immediately, and he does.

derek helps cliff get cove settled and calmed down, he even makes dinner while cliff helps cove at least get a grip on reality again...

"i'm so surprised you did this y/n... i thought i knew you better but i guess not... listen, i gotta finish dinner, cove hasn't eaten in a couple days. i'm sorry but cove is my best friend, i hope you're happier now.. goodbye."

cove is ruined, to say the least.

you never dated baxter, but cove saw how you looked at him with longing and cove always wished you would look at him like that. i guess you just turned your eyes to him until you could finally have the one you wanted...

cove loved you so much, and now that you've broken up he feels like he'll never recover

cove's personality does a whole 180

if he was "warm", he's not anymore. he can't bring himself to smile and laugh and socialize when his chest feels so hollow yet like he's been stabbed with pins and needles...

if he was already "cold", i need you to imagine him being even colder...

he still says his "please and thank you"'s whenever its necessary, but anything other than a hum when affirming to the cashier that he found his groceries okay

or telling the fast food worker what he wants to eat, which he usually orders online in that case, then he doesn't really talk too much

everyone can see how distraught he is even though he tries to distract himself

he cooks meals from scratch, he even learns how to make bread just to keep his mind away from it all

he tries to surf or look for shells but it just ends up hurting more because he as so many memories of those things with you

his whole childhood was with you... you gave him a childhood and you're the reason he enjoyed life so much, you made him so happy...

cove really tries to keep his head above water but even with the love and care from his parents, he's drowning...

its like when he was a little kid all over again but this time he's the one going through the break up

sometimes he snaps at his dad to please leave him alone and he runs off to the guest room crying.

he's so overwhelmed, overstimulated in every way and hurt.

he feels like he'll never recover from this one

when he does "get better", its still a total change from who he used to be

he definitely keeps his friend circle tight and dating isnt even on the table, and wont be for a long time.

fuck it probably takes him another 15 years to get over you.

all he knew for the last 15 years of his life was you, and now he has to do without you so its hard.

some days he falls apart again, because things are so much harder now that he has to take care of himself in every way possible

you reopened his trust and abandonment issues...

when everyone finds out you eloped with baxter they lose their fucking minds

your ma doesn't even text or call you. you can't even hear her in the background when your mom calls because she can't believe you'd elope to him after all this, no matter how much time goes by...

your mom feels hurt again. it just makes everything so real and she feels sick thinking that baxter is now her son-in-law

your sister calls to yell at you. its less than a 5 minute phone call, she just can't believe you married him...

lee doesn't bother sending any congratulations, doesn't even like your pictures on social media. the next time she texts you she blames it on work, and thoroughly avoids talking about baxter

you better hope miranda and derek don't see it.

derek was certainly the most peaceful when the break up happened, but he would definitely unblock you just to tell you how disappointed he is and he definitely cusses at you.

if and when cove finally sees or hears the news, if this happened soon after your breakup he would lose his shit.

he definitely goes to the gym for a bit to work out some energy. he's so sad but most of all he's angry

that should've been you getting married but you're with him instead.

if you elope later after breaking up: it hurts for awhile. but it doesn't tear him up as long as it did when you broke up

but the first night he does look at your smiling face and he misses you.

in the morning he's talking to his dad and he does realize that its better like this

that you just decided that baxter had everything you needed, and its not cove's fault

unfortunately, this isn't a bad bone in cove's body to wish you ill.

in the end cove is so much stronger, of course he's still vulnerable with people, he's still a crybaby but the walls he's built around himself are high and it took a lot of therapy for him to get over the betrayal

when cove does start dating again and if he gets married especially, your mom's are in the pictures...

he looks so happy, so does cliff and kyra

if your mom's are in the pictures, especially the wedding pictures, it saddens you because you have no pictures of your family with baxter, it doesn't matter how many years go by.

Okay for some reason I didn’t get notified for this ask so sorry it’s a bit late!

But YES thx for the opportunity to rant ab this show

Pros

I actually am a big fan of muppets abc. I’ll get into the cons later but I like the style of humor the show has (for the most part), I like when the muppets have more of an adult spin where it’s not like family guy humor but it’s a little more mature than most muppet projects. The modern muppets have been so heavily targeted toward children in many projects that it’s nice to see them recognize that a lot of modern muppets fans are adults (not that adults can’t like children’s humor, I for sure do, but y’know).

Also I really like a lot of the people they chose as guests for the show, and I honestly like the sitcom style following the muppets backstage of a show. I think it’s a good modernization of the original muppet show premise that allows it to focus less on skits and more on characters. Also normally I despise social media plot lines but I actually like the way this show handles pulling the muppets into the digital age, which is crucial for such a timeless property.

Also, as many problems as there are for muppets fans, it’s a really good show to watch with people who casually enjoy the muppets. This show’s style is more to the taste of some of my family members so I like watching it with them. And separate from the muppet’s characterizations the comedy is really good (but that’s subjective so I can see how it rubs some people the wrong way).

Cons

For one the cliffhanger ending kills me. Even if this show was weirdly received it had a really short run, they could’ve used a few more episodes or another season so we didn’t get left on such an annoying cliffhanger (that left Kermit and piggy still officially broken up since the show didn’t continue long enough for them to get back together).

Ok let me get into characters now, because that’s a criticism that I think is 100% valid (though I also think few people other than jerry juhl have properly understood the muppets and not flanderized their characters in some way)(but yeah it’s really bad here).

Scooter!!

How they’ve massacred my boy!

We’ll get to piggy but scooter is the one I’m most upset about. Why? Why change him from nepo baby humor to haha nerd comedy?? It was 2015 man we love making fun of nepo babies and rich people nowadays why would they change the character whose gimmick gets funnier with age?

His characterization feels pulled from the Big Bang theory. All his comedy is just “virgin nerd” comedy. I love that the show tried giving him more screen time than other projects but they fumbled the bag. He was a spoiled teenager who was wild and fun and could get away with anything because his uncle was rich. I get he’s older now but I refuse to think aging did this to him.

Because I’m a nerd I’m gonna pull some quotes about scooter from the new Richard hunt biography bc that man understood his characters.

“Like Hunt, Scooter is a born performer. Scooter also resembles Hunt in his amiable disposition and his almost nonchalant acceptance of the other characters and their quirks.”

“This acceptance stems from his own quiet confidence in himself… happily amusing himself and the people around him.”

“‘Scooter is a perpetual kid and very comfortable with who he is,’ said Hunt.”

HMMMM? CONFIDENCE? A PERFORMER? COMFORTABLE WITH WHO HE IS?

abc scooter just gives off such anxious vibes it really makes him feel like he’s lost the part of himself that made him so much like Richard Hunt.

Piggy

Ughhh she’s just not fun to watch for the most part in this show. I like the idea of her being the star of the show this time around, reminds me of her unexpected rise to fan-favorite muppet soon after Oz took over her character.

I also really like her friendship with deadly. I think miss piggy so often is boiled down to her love for Kermit that I really love the idea of having her explore platonic bonds. Her looking so hard for happiness in romantic relationships but eventually realizing that deadly is the one who’s been by her side, that he’s her friend and that she really loves him for sticking by her is a really sweet arc (for both of them. Love platonic piggy relationships and I like the modern fashion designer vibe they’ve been doing with deadly, I think it’s a fun reimagining of his original character).

But her diva meter really is pushed up to eleven.

Not to pull more from the Richard hunt bio, but Oz describes piggy as “The tough woman underneath the coyness. And the fact that she had to be coy to get things the way she wanted them, like most women at that time.”

Piggy is from humble beginnings and understands how she needs to act to get people to feel a certain way about her. She also won’t take shit from anybody, though. She knows her worth and knows she’s worked hard to get here, but it also was such an uphill battle to stardom for her I just refuse to believe she would become so selfish and act so privileged the way she does in the show.

ABC piggy doesn’t feel like a girl who tries to be coy but knows to be tough when she needs to be. ABC piggy is mean. She has a thin temper and everyone is scared of her and she’s so removed from the non-famous life that she has trouble bonding with people. She only does community service for publicity and can barely manage to do any manual labor. She’s not tough. She’s angry. She’s short-tempered and violent. And she has no trace of her humble roots, that gratefulness for the position of fame she’s in that she holds in so many other roles.

Others

Sam is pretty creepy. I love his gag of being the censorship for the show, him popping up saying “can’t say that” is a nice little nod to him trying to control the chaos of the original show and his little conservative speech sketches. His crush on Janice is kinda odd tho. I like him getting more modern spotlight, I really like his character in most wanted (though a rewatch of that is needed haven’t seen it in a while). But yeah he’s kinda weird here.

Also why were gonzo and Camilla broken up. Disagree. Idc about your relationship drama they’re the muppets otp.

Uhh trying to think off the top of my head, it’s been a few months since my rewatch of the show. I don’t like the mayhem fight. I think teeth and Floyd fighting over Janice is weird and off for them in modern day. Respect Janice rejecting labels, go off Queen.

Conclusion/TLDR

I had more to say than I realized but I don’t want to make too long of a post. Tldr, I really like the show and it’s humor but it does feel divorced from “the muppets” as a pre-established franchise and characters. The characterization is bad, even though I appreciate them trying to give more screen time to some lesser used characters, it didn’t really work. I just think it had a lot of potential, and I like the idea of a more adult but still family oriented muppet show, but the execution was really hit or miss.

Now that you are no longer avoiding miraculous ladybug spoilers, can I say that it is absolutely bonkers the way the sentimonster theory started out with just Adrien, but then spread to Felix, and now apparently kagami??? And I've heard there might be another person who is one as well?? Like at this point I think we might as well say that every rich kid in paris (or vaguely related to paris) is probably a sentimonster. I bet it was a top secret Agreste collection back in the day, and all of Paris' wealthiest got a slice of it

OHOOEHEHEHE YES AND IM LIVING FOR IT!! honestly I never thought we would get confirmation of the senti theory that is this clear—like I thought it would be hinted but left open enough for the average child viewer to totally miss and for deniers to be able to deny if they want to. And I guess they could still deny? But man I didn’t expect it to become so central!! the felix eps were insane i was yelling !!

A while back I saw this theory that was basically what you said—that all the rich kids in Paris were sentis. Because of that fancy weird cult party from the episode Gabriel Agreste. Which was so fascinating to me back then and now it feels not unlikely?

It’s so interesting bc we know sentis are created from a specific emotion. It would seem appropriate that Emily created adrien out of love, and that’s why he’s such a kind boy who gives undeserving people second chances and who loves people with all his heart. Im not sure what emotion felix would be?? he’s a pretty complex character but his sense of personal justice is strong, wanting to free himself first and then the other sentikids, and using morally questionable means to reach his mission. So maybe something along those lines. And for kagami, idk, is perfection an emotion? Desire for perfection? That idea is brought up more and more surrounding her and her mother is very concerned with kagami’s perfection.

This gets even more interesting to me when you consider Chloe. Admittedly, she makes less sense as a senti bc the other sentikids have a missing parent (presumably the one who wielded the broken peacock and then eventually died from it??). But im just considering the concept of Audrey making Chloe from her own emotions….which seem to consist solely of selfishness and superiority. So if Chloe was made with such ugly emotions, no wonder she is the way she is. And no wonder that every time she seemed to make a little progress, she backslid into her old behavior. Bc any display of self-awareness and kindness and genuine care for someone else goes against her emotional core—her very essence. Is it even possible for a senti to change their emotional core? that would be an insane display of self-control and sheer force of will that would challenge the very concept of sentis as creatures who are made to be commanded. if it’s possible for a senti to break the bounds of their emotional core, is it also possible to break the bond between them and their amok holder and disobey a direct order? Could they even break their link to their amok entirely? This is all crazy talk bc it doesn’t even make sense in context and I doubt Chloe would end up having that big of a role anyway lol but the implications are interesting to think about! It’s even interesting to think about XY and the possibility of him being a senti—emotional core of greed, maybe? or, like, shallowness? lol. his dad definitely controls him and his image pretty carefully so. Hmm!

anyway insane musings aside I am really enjoying this arc with the senti focus!! felix’s Argo fit is so cool. his villain song. Girl help!!! when he had to kill his sentimoon and cried…oh that got me. That was his SISTER !! and FELIGAMI HELLO???? FELIGAMI PRACTICALLY CANON AFTER 2 EPISODES??? i did NOT have that on my bingo card lol but you know what?? Hell yeah!!!!!! to get this out of the way, i like how much worf e riker e deanna was in the b-plot of this, even just circumstantially (i missed data though). i also think riker finally getting fed up with the aliens and giving them shit was really funny. riker is never mean to ANYBODY. i'm also glad he was relatively chill about picard being missing for once lol. like, in NO way were these assholes ready to enter the federation. not to agree with picard, but PART of a world can't enter. if you haven't mastered world peace you can't sit with us etc etc. not that i'm fully buying the propaganda of the federation as the ultimate good or that earth does somehow have world peace but whatever. even i know these guys weren't ready. what a fucking joke

actually, even though i dislike picard, i think sir patrick stewart is a v talented actor and i DO like him. i also really like beverly, so they managed to be charming a couple of times in this episode, mostly when they had a thought we couldn't hear and then started snickering about it

that said, i have no respect at all for jean-luc. the campfire conversation sucked. beverly was DEEPLY flattered and also in a little bit of a vulnerable position and he WAS LYING when he said he didn't feel that way anymore bc he tried to hit her up at the end of the episode. a man would have HELD HER, jean-luc. i would have held her. beverly crusher i would treat you so much better

every single mention of odo's dehumanization in the past makes me HOMICIDAL please treat him really niceys. i would kind of like to know what the cardassian neck trick is though. just not from odo

"i dont drink" fuckin hilarious. i think odo should shapeshift himself a digestive system so he can try food. um one that can digest stuff in 16 hours i guess or it would all just fall out when he gooped again. we tossed around the idea of chewing gum, since you just spit that back out eventually. but does he even have tastebuds, or just the approximation of them? his other senses seem to work ok........

the window in this acted SO sketchy like she was fake crying at her third dead husbands funeral after she just inherited a zillion dollars but she literally was innocent. she pointed at kira and was like girl she did it and we're like NO kira's innocent! and then kira is literally not innocent but shady sketchy widow is. incredible

kira with long hair my beloved. i would hate it if she had long hair in present day but it's perfect for past kira

ds9 looks SO BAD in the past. to have children running around and playing in it now is insane. you can really feel the difference between the cardassian occupation and Now so well in this episode, it's as striking to us as it would be to kira and odo

ohhh my god kira and odo. "will you ever trust me again" he's not even mad she killed that guy just mad that she lied about it. AUGHGHGHG

but when kira did something shady it was for a good cause. when odo was being shady he was indirectly working for the fucking cardassians. "choose a side" so true but he eventually chose kira's <3

final note: rom in this episode was amazing. i've never really given him more than a passing thought before this but him secretly being a fucking amazing thief was truly fantastic. sisko and odo good cop bad copping him was really funny too especially when you remember his son and sisko's son are besties. i would still rank the ferengi as my least favorite ds9 characters but i was pleasantly surprised with how often i laughed

OKAY. I. FINALLY HAVE DONE IT. IT TOOK A LOT OF TESTING AND TROUBLE SHOOTING AND FIGURING OUT BUT I THINK I HAVE IT

My Askr and Co. team!!!!!!! Sometimes I switch one of them out for story stuff (full immersion lmfao), but!!! It's them it's the OGs 🥺🥺🥺

Alfonse is still pretty much the same, but since the Dragon Flower limit was increased, I feel he no longer needs Fury! Which, removing it does synergize better with Florid Cane anyway, beyond the Canto gimmick (having an Atk/Spd bonus if kept healthy).

Biggest thing I needed to figure out though was who I was giving the special skills to (from an extra Acsended Mareeta and Felix). I WAS tempted to give them to Alfonse (head empty he means everything to me) but I came to the conclusion that Ruptured Sky works too well on him. I even think it's fun from a storytelling standpoint, where he's consistent almost to a fault -- can result in him being reliable, or juuust missing the mark (he's still adaptable as well though!). PLUS! Both are speed based skills, and even With my speedy Alfonse build, AND even with all those Dragon Flowers, Sharena outspeeds him at lower investment.

So it did come down to trying to decide which would work best between Sharena and Anna.

Sharena absolutely needed to be completely revised, since I realized I accidentally doubled up on Null Follow Up on her weapon and B slot (and her C slot was a wimpy Threaten skill lmfao). Ultimately I felt Felix's kit synergized better with Alfred's Arcane I gave to her -- espp Bulwark keeping her healthy! In this way I think I accidentally made her a tank. Especially with all the stat bonuses coming together, on top of a damage reduction special. Really my ONLY bit of grief here is she no longer has her special attack voicelines........... I'm SO sad about that 💔💔💔 (HOWEVER. IT. IS REALLY FUNNY.)

She's just standing there..... Menacingly........... (quite literally with the Menace skill too from the Summer Dimitri manual that's up for grabs. I'm not so sure if it Suits Her storytelling-wise but tbh it's funny. GO GIRL START KILLING‼️‼️‼️)

As for Anna! I actually haven't touched Anna's build in years, she's not a unit I ever use outside of the once a month free orb and sometimes for story... last I left her was with Life or Death 3, Vantage, and a Spur skill. I wanted to keep in line with this initial build though... bc I feel like it suits her.

Outside of this one time (very early on, before I really put a lot of thought into things) I Never use Life or Death (I'm too cautious HAHAH) so I was comfortable giving her a Life or Death 4 I had laying around. BEYOND THAT. IT WAS. SUCH A NIGHTMARE. To figure out What the rest of her kit should be. A Lot of trial and error, testing, troubleshooting, everything. Because the BIGGEST THING is I wanted to keep Nóatún on her. She gets INSANE movement from it, and I felt like if I could Just Get This Right, I could pull off something as gimmicky as my Hit and Run Canto Alfonse. You have to trade SO much power for that movement, and she's already made of glass and paper the way I'm building her (but I am SO committed to this idea bc it's EXACTLY how I conceptualize her character in my mind -- strong starter, hard hitter, high movement = speedy and lots of experience on the battle field!! And SOMETHING in her C and Seal slots to communicate teamwork and commanding.)

EVENTUALLY. WHAT I THINK WORKS. Spurn helps her Not Die As Much/As Quickly (thank you damage reduction), and I think the balance between Oath/Solo skills gets the idea across.

BUT ALSO. THIS. THE MOST FUCKED UP THING I DESPERATELY WANTED TO SHOW OFF IT'S SO FUCKING GOOD!!!!!!!!!

LOOK at this. LOOK at how STUPID this is. How by giving Alfonse Odd Tempest HE IS. SO POWERFUL. HE MAKES A KILLER OPENING (EXACTLY AS HE ALWAYS SAYS HE WILL‼️‼️‼️). Reposition into Canto into look at him fucking go. He's fucking gone. Halfway across the battlefield. AND ANNA HAS FANTASTIC SYNERGY WITH THIS!!!!! Being able to get That One Extra Space thanks to Nóatún!!!!!!!! (Unfortunately this was a terrible matchup and she died instantly, but this is more for demonstration purposes 🫡)

I am a little sad that Sharena gets left on the back lines when this works out but. I think she's still doing her part. Esp since I'm testing out Ardent Sacrifice on her, where I typically exclusively only use Reposition and always have a healer. On top of eating hits, she also covers for her allies as well! Making sure they're okay :)

Finally! Takumi! I. Have no idea how he fits in here tbh I don't even know how Pathfinder works. But I love him so much so dearly and he's here because he's a highly respected veteran member of the Order of Heroes. Also everyone say thank you Alcryst for fucking finally giving him a usable weapon and decent skills (I have gone through SO MANY ideations of base Takumi builds and they have NEVER been on the level of stronger units he was ALWAYS WOEFULLY OUTCLASSED. Which is DEVASTATING bc I really like using base forms sometimes!!!!). I'm SO happy he's finally on par w stronger units now!!!! OH. AND. THE MAJOR THING ABOUT HIM ACTUALLY. Is once he gets the ball rolling he is procing Deadeye every fucking turn. Just like in Fates... 🥺🥺🥺 (killing and maiming and violence complete with a cheeky attitude and bravado!)

The exhale leaving her lips died in her throat the moment the notification floated across the pitch black phone screen, dread filled her veins as her anxious mind filtered through every possible scenario starting with the worse and working her way down. 

‘Is this a breakup text? No, he wouldn’t do that… would he? Did Penny get her shot at round two with him? Is he just drunk? Is this going to be an apology for ignoring me for days? Maybe he is just checking up on me?’

She feels like crying as the black lock screen mocks her of what was once in its place, the light blue skies littered with clouds surrounding her smiling face as Pete kissed her temple. But instead it was the black lock screen shined back at her, showing her reflection in the dim kitchen lighting. She can’t help but feel out of place considering everything was perfectly placed in the pristine kitchen, except Y/N who is drowning in her anxious thoughts. 

‘Just fucking open it, you are thinking the worse…. But what if I am right? But it’s Pete, he is always so sweet and kind to me’ she gently slides her finger across the illuminating screen 

Hey Princess, I know I haven’t been around much with work and all but I miss you.. Can I make it up to you please?

The exhale didn’t get caught in her throat this time but the anxiety still gnawed at her from the inside, ‘Peace or violence… he did neglect me for two days…’

“Mmm… I’m listening”  it was still peaceful yet a little passive aggressive in her eyes.

I could come pick you up and we could watch the best Christmas movie ever made

The smile spreading across her face was involuntarily but unwavering  “DIE HARD ISN’T A CHRISTMAS MOVIE PETE FFS”

Christmas Eve at The Kazansky’s Household

“I’m just saying mom, why couldn’t it have been just family tonight? Half of these guys are from Dad’s work, what happened to just a small family dinner?” the sigh departed Y/N’s lips shortly afterwards, Laurie hummed in agreeance with her younger sister’s despair. 

“Sweetheart the holidays are about caring for others and surrounding yourself with good company, this is more for your Father than me.  Just try and act happy for him at least..” it wasn’t though, this was her mother’s way of showing off the house, her cooking, and her marriage to everyone. The dinging alarm from the oven broke Mrs. Kazansky’s pointed look aimed at her youngest daughter “Okay, fine.. I need to go finish wrapping a few gifts if you got the kitchen covered” the only response was a slight wave of her mother’s wrist. 

The stairwell came closer with each step until she turned left into the hallway leading to the backdoor, Y/N took a quick glance at the party taking place in the living room before slipping out.

She hastily lit her cigarette as the cold nipped at her delicate fingertips, she inhaled softly as a small sliver of peace washed over her heated body. “Your Father would kill you if he found out” floated through the air around her, ruining her newly founded  peace,  Y/N turned towards the man sitting on the back porch steps “Yeahh and I don’t think my mom would take kindly to you smoking at her house either” a small hum slipped through his fixed smile, Y/N shrugged her shoulders before making her way over to him “hmm.. But how about we make a deal? I won’t tell if you don’t?” silence followed as his outstretched hand came into view, Y/N didn’t hesitate to slip her hand into his much larger one “Deal, I’m Pete by the way” she hummed at the sound of his voice but also the warmth that encompassed her hand “Y/N.. you wouldn’t happen to be the Pete that flew with my dad back in the late 80’s”  a slight nod of confirmation was thrown her way “Yes, I am that Pete but people usually call me Maverick” amusement danced across her face, this man sitting across from her was the beloved Maverick or better known as her ‘Uncle Pete’ even though this is the first time she has ever spoken to the man. “Hmmm I thought you would look older” curiosity plagued his features and laced through his words “why’s that exactly” Y/N’s eyes drifted across his face and made their way down his frame, “My dad said you didn’t age as ‘gracefully’ as he did, which was clearly a lie” there was an unusual wave of comfort that flooded her system, she wanted to blame it on the warmth radiating off of him but the gap between the two crushed that theory.

“I don’t know what that is if I’m being honest.. So I don’t know if that’s a compliment  or an insult, sweetheart” if Y/N wasn’t so appalled at the newfound fact, she might have blushed at the pet name “ohh my gOd, How do you not know the tropes for a Christmas movie is?? Heard of Hallmark before?” the only response given was a simple shrug “I’m old”

“First it’s not an insult, you just share a lot of characteristics of the main guy in a Hallmark movie” Y/N puffed out a cloud of smoke before passing the cigarette back to her confused counterpart “the key aspects being a mysterious yet well-known guy, who either lives some outrageous adrenaline filled lifestyle or a rather unnoteable one with some weird past skill that somehow helps at the end of the movie, meets this ‘out of this world’ girl, that either saves him or his business. They sometimes might hate each at the beginning, or just bump into each other at random beginning scenes, until they fall in love… and blah blah.. Y’know?”

“Hmm I think you know a little too much about these movies, though I’m curious what’s your favorite?”

“Yeah maybe so, but when I was little, my dad and I would stay up binge watching shitty Christmas movies… annd Holiday Inn, it tops everything… your’s?”

“Aww who would have thought that Ice would be up all night watching sappy Christmas movies, Slider would get a kick out of this... And no the best Christmas movie of all time is Die Hard”

From an outside perspective, the pair would have seemed crazy as they argued back and forth over such a childish topic until the back door swung open to reveal Ron "Slider" Kerner’s head poking out to burst their bubble “Y/N, your father is looking for you, maybe shorten your ‘puff’ break huh..” 

It was an almost comical ‘360’ Slider took when noticing Maverick sitting across her on the porch steps “Y/N anything he has said about me is a lie” the breath of laughter condensated in the night’s sky “Wow someone is either really full of themselves or paranoid, for your information we were talking about Christmas movies”  the exaggerated eye roll from the older man triggered her own before an outstretched hand appeared once again in her peripheral, as the mere thought of having him touch her again with those rough, callous hands, a wave of heat shot through her body.  She couldn’t help but feel disappointed as his hand dropped from her own, as he helped her upright. Until Pete placed it casually on her lower back as he guided her towards the entranceway that Slider just retreated from. Y/N felt her knees buckle at the sweet, confident smile he sent her way as he held the door open, the huff of breath forced itself into the air filled with the overlapping conversations taking place in the living room. As Y/N willed herself to take the first step into the doorway Pete’s voice stopped her in her tracks “Y’Know we could watch the best Christmas movie after dinner, if you like?” the laughter bubbling through her lips was the only confirmation he needed “Only if you sit by me during dinner”  she felt like she could die just by his smile alone until he winked at her... once again the feeling of overwhelming heat coursed through her system “Deal”

“Sweetheart, I’ve been looking for you, where have you been? Your mother is throwing a fit, considering ‘you disappeared on her an hour ago’... I think she’s being dramatic like usual but dinner is about to start, so shall we?” Y/N looked back over at Pete before linking arms with her father as they made their way through the dining room. 

To most people, they saw Admiral Tom “Iceman” Kazansky as a calculated pilot with a cold exterior that was off-putting to what he considered  "sensitive" people but at this very moment, he was a doting father that was putty in his youngest daughter’s hands. As if she was the most important thing in this world, and she was to him. It didn’t help that Y/N was gleaming up at her father as he pushed her chair in, before sitting right beside her at the head of the table. The older Kazansky children couldn't help but roll their eyes in disgust as their father displayed his favoritism towards their sister so publicly, he didn’t even spare them a glance nor the people seated around them.

Present Day

“For the fifty time just because the movie takes place on December 25th, doesn’t make it a Christmas movie.. Don’t get me wrong Die Hard is a classic but not for that genre, baby” did Y/N end up staying up all night watching Die Hard movies with Pete? Yes, she most certainly did and she didn’t regret it at all even as the bags under her eyes throbbed in the dimly light diner. “Y’Know one of these days, you are going to finally agree with me on this, and when that day comes I’m going to say…I told you so” Pete’s gaze was blocked by the inside of his coffee cup, but he knew she was flipping him off behind the ceramic mug when no verbal response was given. His free hand lifted to entangle their fingers together across the table, a soft smile was sent her way as the worn cup clinked against the table  “I’m kidding it will be a lot more dramatic, I’m thinking an air show that spells out ‘I was right, Die Hard is the best Xmas movie ever” Pete could still understand her clear as day even as “I hate you” was mumbled between bites of pancakes, before he pulled their joined hands closer to place a soft kiss across her knuckles “You looove me” a scoff slipped through Y/N’s lips “whatever you say loverboy..”

“Hi, I’m Y/N Kazansky and I was wondering if I could possibly have Maverick’s surprise birthday here on Friday?” Y/N appraised the older woman behind the bar as she waited for her to turn around “Kazansky as in Iceman type of Kazansky? And of course you can, anything for Pete” Y/N didn’t know if the twitch in her right eye was caused by lack of sleep or the possible second meaning to Penny’s words “Yes ma’am, I’m Admiral Tom “Iceman” Kazansky’s youngest daughter.. And thank you!” the giggle bubbling its way through Penny’s lips didn’t help Y/N’s involuntarily twitching “I feel like, Two admirals daughters walk into a bar would be a great navy joke.. Mm do you need help with anything for the party? I can bake Pete’s cake if you want” Y/N simply shook her head “No I’ve got it all covered, plus Pete just loves my cake, but thank you for offering I appreciate it” Penny’s shoulders fell at her words before correcting her posture once again “No problem, hun”

Y/N felt eyes on her the second she rounded the hanger, as she glanced through the rooms before moving to the next one filled with Naval pilots. Her eyes shifted between the group until finding a somewhat familiar face in the small group  “Excuse me Bob, I was wondering if you could help me with something?” Bob’s face went flush at the mere presence of Y/N before stuttering out “Y-yes Ma’am, wh-hat can I do for you?” the flash of her smile made his knees weak he felt like he could pass out as he gulped down the air caught in his throat. “Y/N, what are you doing here?” Until Bob’s moment was ruined, he was so close to hearing her soft voice response if it weren’t for Rooster, Y/N’s gaze shifted between the two men before settling once again on Bob “Hi Bradley, umm I was wondering if you could relay a message to Pete.. I mean Maverick’s students for me” her sweet voice floated through his mind, and stored itself directly into his memory “Yes I can-n do that for you, what’s the message?” his palms felt clammy as he pushed the gold rim of his glasses up his nose “okay this is a secret Maverick cannot know but this Friday at 1900,  we are throwing him a surprise birthday at the Hard Deck.. and I wanted y’all to be there” the nod of confirmation came shortly after that before he clear his throat with a “Yes, ma’am” the sweet smile mixed with Y/N’s hand resting lightly on his forearm almost made him hyperventilate “Please call me Y/N, ohh is it possible one of you can take me to my father’s office?” Bradshaw couldn’t help but roll his eyes at Bob’s fidgeting, but also at the fact that Y/N was throwing ‘good ol’ Pete a birthday party. Y/N’s question hung in the air before either could form words,  and just like that Seresin was towering over her, with his signature smirk playing on his lips “I can take you, sweetheart”

The Kazansky’s put Operation: Birthday Boy into full effect, Y/N cringed slightly at the dreadful name her father gave the op but thankfully everything was going as planned when she received a text from her father saying “be there in 10 :)”.

Maverick was surprised when Ice asked him if he wanted to grab a few drinks at the Hard Deck, but his surprise soon morphed into suspicion at Tom’s unusual behavior. Pete ran through the possible reasons, ‘did he find out about Y/N and I? Is the Navy finally sick of my reckless behavior? Is he dying?’ but even as the uneasy feeling crept its way through his thoughts, he followed silently as Tom lead the way into the bar. 

The screams of ‘SURPRISE!’ bounced off the hard deck walls as Pete’s eyes shifted through the pile of familiar faces washed in bright lights until landing on Y/N, standing in the middle of the mass holding a large cake with candles scattered across the frosted top spelling out “Happy Birthday to the best pilot EVER.. aka Maverick ♡” He couldn’t help as the grin spread across his face, he honestly thought his heart could stop at just the sight of her in his favorite dress with candle light cascading across her cheekbones. She looked like she was heaven sent, as she sent him a soft smile before mouthing ‘come here’ before flicking her eyes down at the cake. 

As Pete came closer to Y/N he finally shifted his eyes down to study the cake in her delicate hands, the cake was littered with almost 70 candles “why are there so many candles on this? I’m not that old Y/N” his pointed look was cut off when Seresin shouted “Start Blowing Grandpa” Y/N moved the cake closer to him “Please just make a wish, I don’t want to eat candle wax”

The cake was cut, thanks were given and people started to disperse into their own little conversations, Tom listened absentmindedly to the conversation Penny was trying to hold with him “I don’t know Tom, don’t you think their relationship is a little bit weird” tilting his head to meet her gaze before drifting across the bar once more “Whose?” her smile twitched slightly at Tom’s inattention “Y/N’s and Maverick’s” hearing his daughter’s name however caught his full attention, raising his brow towards the older brunette as if asking for a continuation before the sound of giggling bounced off the walls. Ice steered his gazes towards the sound until it landed on Y/N,  frosting mixed with bits of cake coating her delicate hands as the rest was plastered against Pete’s face “I don’t know, it’s just something about how they interact and look at each other.. It’s unusual I think something is going on between the two-” before she could even continue Ice was leaning closer to her, with a fixed glare “Shut up Penny, you know nothing about Y/N or Pete. You are delusional and I will not let you slander my daughter like that because you are trying to make her the next Penny Benjamin, the admiral’s slut daughter” if looks could kill Tom would be six feet under, Penny’s jaw was set and eyes blazing with an untamed ire, the overgrowing emotion built at the sight of Maverick’s cradling Y/N’s face in his hands, eyes full of adoration as he smashed frosting across her cheeks and smiling lips.

“Peeete you ruined my makeup” was mumbled through the thick frosting and cake crumbs coating her lips, while staring up in shock at the man who is equally caked “I’m sorry but weren’t you the one that caked me first?” even through the layer of frosting he could tell she was pouting up at him “Let’s go, get you cleaned up huh?” as he guided her towards the bathroom, unbeknownst to them a set of eyes belonging to a familiar face followed their retreating figures towards the bathrooms.

Water rushing out the faucet filled the empty bathroom lined with shiny white tile  contrasting against dull grey stalls on the right-side wall, Y/N’s eyes floated around until landing on Pete’s side profile, as he wiped remnants of cake off his hands and face before turning to her with a wet towel “Alright, your turn princ-” was muffled against Y/N’s frosted lips before Pete hoisted her up on the bathroom counter, Y/N pulled back with a grimace “You put me in water” his fingertips danced across her upper thighs, until Y/N squeezed them together blocking his path to her lace covered heat “What does it matter, if you are already soaked… well probably soaked” the pointed look would have usually made him stop but the soft smile etched on her lips, pushed him to continue “please it can count as my birthday gift” her thighs relaxed against his hand instantly, the tips of his fingers brushed against the soaked fabric before pushing the ruined material roughly to the side, coating his fingers in her slick. Y/N’s hips involuntarily jerked forward at the action waiting for his fingers to slide into her but instead his hand left her body entirely. 

Y/N held her breath as she waited for his next move until the dazed state was shattered at the sight of Pete licking his fingers clean of her “Sweet as ever” those three words echoing off the bathroom tile, forced her to push her thighs together for some sort of relief…  Until the door swung open, the bar’s overlapping conversation along with a huffing Penny broke the room’s stillness “am I interrupting something?” Y/N fought the urge to roll her eyes at Penny’s faux innocence, the question was asked with such certainty as if she already knew the answer. Her eyes stared blankly at Y/N when “No” filtered around her “Oh good, well I brought you some towels to help with the clean up” Y/N couldn’t tell if the smile gracing the older brunette’s lips was actually genuine, that maybe she felt proud of herself for interrupting the moment or if it was a fake plastered on smile in an attempt to hide her indifference, either way Y/N couldn’t stand the sight of it. Maverick broke the tension by thanking her, before moving toward the towels in her hands. Y/n couldn’t help but laugh as Penny deliberately brushed her hand against Pete’s fingers that were moments ago covered in Y/N’s slick.

Y/N sat patiently on the bathroom counter as Pete gently cleaned the remnant of cake off her face, oblivious to the fact that Y/N was struggling with recurring thoughts, Penny’s conceited smile, the way Pete looked at Penny last week oblivious to Y/N across the bar, and then the worst one of them all… Rooster’s words on loop “everyone gets burned by him no matter what, he doesn’t change” She thought about bringing it up to Pete, but it never seemed like the right time, even during the movie marathon, during breakfast, or during the week leading up to his birthday.  She stopped herself each time with the same recurring thought “don’t be selfish, you are probably making something out of nothing.” the gentle tap on her cheek pulled her back to reality, her gaze refocusing on Pete’s soft smile “You okay?” She processed his words for a few moments, conflicted with telling him the truth along with all her concerns, or lie through a fake smile and a ‘yeah I’m good… she chose the latter option, nodding eagerly with a quick “Yeah, I’m good” it seemed convincing enough considering Pete left it at that, as he helped her down from the counter.

“Thanks again for the party, I’ve been so stressed out over this mission…that its just nice to feel some normalcy and spend time with my girl” the soft kiss pressed to her temple would usually be comforting, but she couldn’t brush off the uneasy feeling building in her chest.

Dutch is such an interesting and compelling character. and I think a lot of people don't realize that he's the true villain of this entire game and Micah is just a red herring. Micah didn't make Dutch go crazy or anything, he just told him what he wanted to hear and allowed him to do all the insane shit he's always wanted to do. bc previously, Dutch had Hosea and Arthur as his moral compass telling him "no Dutch you can't kill people" and I think Dutch started preaching that as well bc it goes along w his desire to the smartest, most moral man in the room. but that wasn't really him. then Micah joins and tells him "yeah Dutch maybe we should kill people maybe they deserve it maybe we're stronger than them" and it opens the door for Dutch to lose that facade he's been mastering all these years, and that comes out in blackwater

then Arthur and Hosea start doubting Dutch, start criticising him, but Micah is still there telling him everything is fine and he's doing a wonderful job. and Dutch loves that because he needs to be the big man in charge and he does NOT tolerate feeling stupid or weak or wrong. so he stops listening to Arthur (if he ever did in the first place, judging by how jaded Arthur is and how easily he kowtows to dutchs guilt trips, I'll say no) and half listens to Hosea. then Hosea dies and Arthur criticises him more, and Dutch truly reveals his colors

what tipped me off on his character the most was how he treats women. miss grimshaw was his girl, and now she's older and the matriarch of the gang, but I think all her stuff abt how vanity fades and how she's hideous etc is partially bc of how Dutch cast her aside. Molly says "am I getting too old for you? thats usually how it works with you isn't it?" which is what made me think that. Molly is also in her mid twenties whole Dutch is 44, and she left her life in Ireland bc she loved him while he only wanted her as a thing to fuck. then he started chatting up Marybeth who, if I had to guess, is about 20-22. quite literally old enough to be her father. so he's a dirty old man on top of all of this.

and also hes a closet racist since his grand plan was to paint a target on the wapiti tribes back despite the chief asking him to leave them alone. meaning he didn't give a shit if that whole tribe was massacred (which would have been the punishment for all the shit he made them do) as long as he and his loyal followers escaped. despite all his pro native talk, about how the Europeans are the true savages, how they destroyed this land, he still participates in that genocide gleefully.

he's nothing but a greedy, selfish megalomaniac but he's a damn good showman and that's how he's gotten everyone wrapped around his fingers. saved them, cared for them when no one else has. typical gang emotional manipulation, but also with cult elements like the requirement for faith in their way of life, the set of beliefs Dutch has constructed from the miller books. there's really nothing redeemable abt his character bc all the good bits were just acting, or they were something to hide how truly rotten he is

ofc it's nice to imagine Dutch as being the dashing rogue, father to everyone in the gang with Hosea his best friend at his side. but that's exactly what he wants you to see him as. and a lot of people don't look past that, so they do believe he went crazy bc of Micah or grief from losing hosea, or got a brain injury, or some other thing. but even Arthur says that he just became more of himself, the self he hid all these years

(this might become a tradition lmao of me throwing oc lore at you while you’re probs alseep) okok so the main families in the story are the beckett’s (we know all about them), the biswar’s (janette’s family) and the rivera luzardo’s (carmela’s family)! there’s another one but their not as important to the story at the moment!

Basically janette’s family’s deal/literally janette’s life story (so sorry this is so long akdhdl) is:

-Mum continued the family cult and roped janette’s dad/her husband into it

-When janette and her sister were born, janette’s dad up and left with janette’s sister Mary (name to be changed btw) and janette didn’t have contact with them until she was in her early 30’s

-Her mum made her life shit (its a cult what did you expect tbh/silly) meaning she was very reliant on her mum for most of her teenage years/early twenties

-Janette killed her best friend Huan Lin (cult reasons)

-Then her mum (who’s name is Diana) got really sick and was given a year left to live and janette,who was 25, was like ‘oh thank god i’m out of here’ and left before she could see her mum die

-And basically spent her late twenties running around the cities, trying to catch up on everything she’d missed in her very closeted life (music, alcohol, friends, work etc)

-Then her guilt caught up to her in the form of her best friend’s ghost and her mum’s ghost and went back home to the town that she was raised in to dismantle the cult

-that is basically where the main story starts but the dismantling of the cult isn’t going well (she’s basically started it up again)

The Bargaining

Months had passed before he was finally able to do anything to regain some control over his life. In the meantime, he suffered from temporary weakness and headaches, sometimes stronger, sometimes barely there. He missed some days at work. Had some serious talks with his manager. Begged her to let him stay, promised to pull himself together even though he knew he had no way of keeping that promise. He had to deal with the worried looks of his coworkers, not only Maddie, but the rest of them too. They meant well, but they just couldn’t help him.

He considered going to sleep right after dinner, but he felt quite restless, as if something was about to happen. He kept himself busy, trying to catch up with some work, but eventually ending up reading a book about mental illnesses that Maddie gave to him. In some harsh, though well-meaning words she suggested that he should at least try to figure out what was wrong with him on his own, to make dealing with it easier. It didn’t exactly work but it was an interesting read anyway.

The window opened silently, but Simon felt the change in the air nonetheless. He raised his head immediately, a small part of him already knowing what he would see at the windowsill. The dark-haired man stood there, staring at him with an intensity that made Simon’s skin crawl, and he was perfectly still – so Simon decided to act on his own.

He stood up from the desk, keeping his eyes on the intruder and putting a bookmark between the pages before closing the book. Maybe I won’t get to finish it? Why bother with a bookmark?, he thought before he could stop himself. The vampire stood still as Simon straightened up and very carefully avoided looking at the closed door. Don’t be stupid, he told himself. If he could crawl up the walls and mess with his mind, there was zero chance of escaping whatever was to come.

Despite all that, Simon couldn’t help himself and took a short, nervous step backwards. He realized what he did; he stopped right away. The vampire hadn’t moved at all. Simon was flooded with all the memories he had been robbed of before; all kinds of feedings, the sudden ones, the fierce and quick ones, the oddly gentle ones. It had been going for quite some time, he realized. He was still alive, which was nice, if surprising, but he had a feeling he wouldn’t be for long if this went on like this. Not because the vampire would kill him personally, it was just that Simon felt he just couldn’t go on like this anymore. He had to do something.

The monster finally made a move, seemingly pleased with Simon not running away. As if they didn’t both know he didn’t have a chance. He stood there watching, waiting, as the vampire slowly walked up to him and grabbed his chin with thumb and index finger. Simon suppressed a shiver, realizing that the gesture was familiar, that it had happened before. He wanted to scream, to beg, to run away, almost overwhelmed with memories and the fear they brought up. He couldn’t utter a word. The vampire watched him curiously before tilting his head slightly to the side and burying his fangs in Simon’s flesh. 

Simon gasped. The pain was sharp and short. All the muscles in his body tensed as agony went through him, then left. He was flooded with that odd sensation that felt like being wrapped in cotton, or something else soft, warm but strange. The blood flew away from him and the vampire’s body was getting warmer bit by bit. Simon raised his slightly shaky hands to the vampire’s chest. He wasn’t really trying to push him away but he wanted to be able to do it anyway. The blood drinker ignored that, slowly draining him while still keeping a hold on his jaw, gentle but firm.

A long moment had passed before Simon realized that even though the vampire still held him by the chin, he had already pulled his fangs out of his neck. He also noticed with some surprise he was now shivering terribly, uncontrollably, almost painfully. He let out a choked gasp, dizzy with terror, confusion and desperation. The vampire pulled his chin up after a little while, making him look into his eyes. The rest of the puzzle pieces fell into place in Simon’s mind.

“No!” he blurted out, trying and failing to step back. He kept his eyes closed. The hand on his jaw tightened a little. He swallowed and took a deep breath, then opened his eyes, carefully avoiding the vampire’s piercing gaze. That was his chance and it might have been the only one he’d ever get.

“Please, please don’t do that! I swear I won’t tell anyone about you, or-or try to hurt you, but I just… I can’t go on like this,” he paused, risking a quick glance at the vampire’s unchanging face. Okay. He wasn’t furious yet. Time to keep going.

“Please don’t do this to my head anymore. Every time you do it, I can barely function for a couple of days afterwards, and I can’t lose my job, but I will if you keep doing this, so p-please, just don’t do that… I promise I won’t do anything to harm you, I just can’t go on, I can’t, can’t, please-” he almost sobbed, his fear and exhaustion getting the better of him.

“Very well,” said the vampire after a short while, his voice almost too neutral and devoid of emotion. “We’ll do something different. Look at me, human.”

Simon tried very hard to oppose that command, but in the end, he still looked up, staring straight into the blood drinker’s cold eyes. A sense of failure and hopelessness flooded him as those terrible eyes bore straight into his very soul and he felt tendrils of power wrapping themselves tightly around his conscious mind. At least I tried something, he thought as he was drifting away, barely able to stand with the vampire’s help.

The human surprised him that night. First of all, he shouldn’t have been able to remember the previous feedings, even in the vampire’s presence when the parts of the previous glamours could be accidentally lifted. Even more so he shouldn’t be able to oppose him like that. A thoughtless flinch, yes, a blind attempt to run away, or to fight him back - it all happened from time to time, but this? This was thought through, meaning the boy had some level of understanding of what was happening to him, even between their meetings. This could be dangerous, to let such a human roam free. Egon should either kill him or at the very least wipe him clean and never come back. But… as much as he didn’t like to admit it, he grew accustomed to those feedings, the way the human tasted and acted, his quiet acceptance. It was pleasant, in a way, not to worry about fighting, hunting or paying for sustenance. 

After a short while, he decided. Yes, he’d keep the boy alive. It might be a risk, but a small one, especially since the young human didn’t seem like he could be a threat to anyone, let alone a vampire. He would have to take precautions and, apparently, take what the human asked him into consideration; that is if he wanted him to last long-term. It was all manageable, if slightly cumbersome. He could do it without any issue really, his job often forced him to inconvenience himself more for less.

The boy shivered under his touch and stared at him with terror mixed with exhaustion. Well, no need to scare the human any further, he thought and got to work, driving his will into the mortal’s mind.

Yasmin and Sarp were packing up Ahmet's stuff bc Seval suggested they donate them. Omer was there with them bc Sarp and Yasmin called him. Seval told him that he needs to ask for her permission to come to their house. Sarp and Yasmin told her that they called him. Omer left and Seval asked Sarp if he took any of his dad's expensive stuff and he said no. This woman is still after the money after all she did. I guess this is one more secret, can't wait for Sarp and Yasmin to find out that she killed their father.

Doruk asked his parents about their weird behavior on the day of the wedding and they said that they were celebrating with everyone else. Doruk didn't press them more since their explanation was logical.

At school, Berk asked Omer where Aybike was and she came from behind him and hugged him 🥰

Aybike:”Did someone miss me?”

Berk:”These hands, this scent, is it possible not to miss you? I’ve been looking forward to seeing you since 12 hours, 24 minutes and 7 seconds”

After class, Ayber and Asdor were sitting together outside at school and Berk was laying his head on Aybike’s lap ❤️ Berk was talking about how many times the mini bus rolled and he said he couldn’t count them. Asiye and Aybike told him to stop talking about the accident bc they were trying to forget about it.

Berk:”Okay, I will stop talking about it but before I do that, I was wondering about something ”

Aybike:”What is it? Tell us”

Berk:”If I died unexpectedly in a car accident ”

Aybike:”Look guys, if I die, do exactly the opposite of what he just said, cry! I don’t want to see anyone not crying, especially you sweetheart, especially you! You won’t stop crying for years and years, Do you hear me? And I won’t even talk about looking at other girls because I know you won’t look at anyone *Berk was shaking his head*. Also, it be great if you feed the cats and dogs in our neighborhood”

Then Doruk talked about what he wanted them to do if he died. He wants them to go to a place they went to before and have a picnic there. This reminded me of the picnic they did all together before Kaan died. Then the girls told them to stop talking about death and Aybike told Berk:”If you die, I will kill you!”

idk how you can kill someone who’s already dead but I think Aybike would find a way 😂

Elif made a bet with Oglucan: she will make any guy fall for her. She was playing football at school and Elif said that she will make the first guy who comes out of the front door fall for her and that guy was Tolga. Ofc Tolga is interested in Yasmin so I thought they will be using Elif as a third party in another useless "love triangle”. Elif went to sit with Tolga at the cafeteria but he was sitting with Yasmin so he told her to go away. Back at home, Elif was in the kitchen cutting tomatoes but she was distracted. Ayla noticed that. Elif asked Ayla if she was ugly and Ayla told her that she was beautiful. Elif said that maybe if she wore makeup and pretty clothes, guys would be interested in her. Berk came to the kitchen and told them that they were invited to Akif's house for dinner and Elif asked Berk if Tolga was coming. Ayla told her that she will help her get ready and Elif thanked her and told her that she's like a mother to her. When Oglucan opened the door, he was stunned and kept looking at Elif. Later during dinner, he told her that she looked pretty and she was happy. Oglucan told her that he liked her normal look. She asked Tolga about what he thinks of her look and he said she shouldn't ask him bc he doesn't understand these things. Elif told Oglucan that he won the bet and that she's giving up. I hope she is bc this was so unnecessary. Also, I love the chaotic energy these two have together and I can't wait for them to become a couple ❤️

Aybike was in the kitchen preparing potatoes and Berk was there too. He was complimenting her on her cooking skills bc it smelled good but Aybike told him not to expect such things from her.

Aybike got the potatoes out of the oven but the plate was too hot for her so Berk tried to help her.

Berk:”is your hand okay?”

Aybike:”I am okay but sweetheart, you could've been burned, what were you thinking?”

Berk:”I am already burned, Aybike, by your beautiful love, do you think this will burn me?”

Omer was chosen as the captain for the basketball team but the next morning, Susen noticed that the announcement said that Sarp was the captain. She told Omer and he asked the PE teacher and he said that since Seval is the new owner of the school, she wanted Sarp to be the captain. Omer was over it and didn't want to fight with Sarp over this but Susen was mad and she called Sarp disgusting. Sarp didn't like that. Later, Sarp, Susen and Omer were at the literature club. they were discussing a book and they talked about how the character was hiding a secret but then in the end he went to the police and told them everything. Sarp used this to annoy Susen and as he was about to leave, Susen called him stupid and that set Sarp off. He told Omer “why don't you ask your girlfriend about your brother’s accident”. Omer didn’t understand what he meant and at the same time he was pissed, so he ran after Sarp, shoved him into the storage room and strangled him while asking him what he meant. I think Omer thought Sarp was messing with him since they fought about inheritance the day before. Susen came and tried to get Omer off of Sarp but couldn’t. Omer was really about to kill Sarp so Susen told him the truth about Kadir’s accident. She told him that Melissa was the one who hit him and she saw everything. Susen told him that she wanted to tell him but Akif stopped her every time. She also told him that Akif was the one who brought Kadir to the hospital. Omer lost it and went to Akif’s house. He confronted him and Akif basically admitted that it was true and that Orhan and Sengul knew about it.

Omer called Asiye and told her that Melissa was the one who hit Kadir. Asiye was shocked, Doruk kept asking her what’s going on so she told him. Doruk got into his car and called his dad. He told him to tell him the truth. Akif said that his sister did not have a driving license and she was going to jail. Doruk got so mad and told him how is he going to look at Asiye’s face from now on. While Doruk was fighting with his dad on the phone two people tried to cross the street, Doruk saw them and swerved and his car rolled over. He was taken to the hospital but he died bc they couldn’t stop the internal bleeding. I’ve never seen someone get buried this fast. Berk wasn’t even at the hospital, the last time he saw Doruk was probably at school.

Overall, it was a good episode. A secret was revealed and Ayber got good scenes. I will miss Doruk and I will miss DorBer 😭 Concerning the timeline, I think they did a 3 weeks time jump from the ending of S3. Also, Oglucan talked about preparing for the university exam so hopefully that means this is their last semester in Attaman school.
