So. Norris! Buddy. Is there any particular reason you decided to read that particular file for everyone?
You know, the file about a man consumed by fear and guilt because he murdered the person he loved?
The file about a man who finds himself trapped in a walled garden, cut off from the outside world, with his murdered lover's voice forever whispering in whatever remains of his ears?
The file about a man who finds himself gradually losing his humanity as his new prison transforms him, slowly and painfully, into a part of itself?
The file about a man who finds that even as this transformation ultimately brings him serenity on the surface, even as he can no longer remember what he once was, "deep inside [him] beneath the roots there is something that still shakes with terror"?
Look, I'm just asking, here, but is there anything you'd like to say to the class, Norris?

Really funny that Colin insists that Alice shouldn't give the computers a personality JUST MOMENTS AFTER he claimed that the computers are fucking with him and him specifically due to their hateful and capricious nature

THEY AREN'T THE FEARS ANYMORE!! THEY'RE DESIRES
(SPOILERS for TMA, and all of TMAGP episodes so far)
Okay, here me out
Tmagp1: Darla wants to hear Arthur's voice again. She even says: "I just couldn’t face the thought of the rest of my life never hearing him again, I had to try" and later on she even says: "But I had to know, so I went to the cemetery."
Tmagp1: RedCanary wants to know about the Magnus Institute. They want to know why it's listed under 'cleared' when there's no evidence of it. Hence why they go and explore it.
Tmagp2: Daria wants that absolute perfection. She wants to change who she is and get out of that dark place. When she talks about the thing that she felt was missing, she says, "... and that’s when I decide I need a tattoo. I had a couple already – just little things on my shin and my wrist – but I decided I needed something big. Something that really changed my look." She also mentions when talking about Ink5oul that "they just kept pressing me about my life, about why I wanted the ink" instead of asking what design she wanted. And when she got the tattoo she describes herself as now being, "Someone I wanted to know more about." Afterwards she even says how "For the first time ever [she] wanted to attempt a self-portrait. Something real and physical, [she] wanted to feel the brushes in my hands and the oil on [her] fingertips." I think a lot of her statement is about her desire and impulsive need for that perfection and that wholeness that she has been aspiring to for her whole life.
Tmagp3: Samuel wants to stay hidden. He wants and he "need[s] to get up, get out of here for treatment." He wants to get better and most of his delirious thoughts are the things that he wants, or feels like he needs. E.g. "I so much want to see it [the sun] again. This night seems endless. I want to be warm again. I am terribly afraid. Thank god for Maddie. I need to treat her better."; "I just need to rest."; "I need to be careful or we’ll drift apart." And then obviously as the narrative continues, Samuel wants to grow and 'put down roots'.
Tmagp4: The narrator wants to be revered and accepted into the Royal Court Orchestra of the Palatinate. He wants to show off and impress. The violin "was a creature with needs and purpose of its own. The needs were simple enough. Blood. Flesh." It has these needs and desires.
So far, I'm interpreting it to be that everything so far can be interpreted as a desire of sorts, varying in the strength and intensity of it. Obviously, fear is still a big part of it all, because if you want something so badly, aren't you afraid of it being stolen from you? Of it being out of your grasp? Of it being unachievable or impossible in some capacity? Of it being a lie?
Even Sam wants to find out more. He wants to know the why and the reason for things. Gwen wants Lena's job. Collin wants to fix all these bugs and keep Freddie running. Alice wants to just get on with it because she found out that wanting to know the 'why' of things is dangerous.
I think that somehow when the Web took all the Fears into a different universe, they morphed into something else. Or they changed to fit what was the most prevalent thing in that universe, because after all, everyone wants something, even if it's something small and inconsequential. Life and aspects of it has always been characterised by that desire for something. Like people wanting food, shelter, safety, love, warmth, happiness, etc. And I think since the Web was so intwined with Jon and Martin, it absorbed some of their emotions when it found its way into this new world, because after all Jon and Martin wanted to stop Jonah/Elias, to stop the apocalypse, to destroy the Panopticon, to be safe, and they wanted each other. I think the wanting and fear of things are really entwined in it all, though this could be absolute bullshit haha

I will do another painting with the "pruning of feet" quote.
Episode 3 of the Magnus Protocol was really inspiring to me. I have a lot of images in my head for that one. There are several images for episode 2 planned as well.
I made this painting with the help of George B. Bridgemans "Constructive Anatomy" book. The Magnus Protocol inspires me to refresh my anatomy drawing skills. Now I just have to figure out how to draw flowers.
Image Description and image without text under the cut.
[ID: Painting of an arm on a green background. The skin of the arm is rotting away, revealing bone. Skin, bones and muscles of the arm are permeated by thin strands of roots. Some strands of green leaved plants are sprouting from the rotten flesh. The ends of the flower stems show big polyps that are about to open. The text on the image reads: "The roots have freed themselves from the weight of my meat as it sags from my bones and drops to the dirt." and "The polyps should be blooming soon."]

I’m glad that Dr. Samuel Weber seems to be much happier as a tree. I mean, the homicide thing was pretty bad and it sucks that his flesh sloughed off but at least he gets the sun and the breeze, and that’s more than the OIAR workers have

[ID: Digital art of Dr Samuel Webber from The Magnus Protocol. He is a white man with dirty brown hair, portrayed from the neck up, clutching his face in his hands and smiling serenely. On the right, his flesh is mostly intact, though there are spots of dried and congealing blood where buds and flowers of sweet jasmine have grown through the skin, and a yellow slime mould grows on the back of his hand. On the left, his skull is entirely clean, and the flesh of his hand has almost rotted away. There are more jasmine buds and blades of the grass beneath him grow through his nasal cavity. Beside his skull is a small patch of black trumpet mushrooms. There is warm light filtering across his face. End ID.]

Okay. Okay, there's a bunch of wildly speculative stuff that I can't quite pin down right now, so for now I'm going to stick with a couple definite points and just a tiny bit of the speculation:
Point 1: The case from TMAGP 4 is dated November 19, 1831, according to its case number. That's only two days before the letter in MAG 127, from Jonathan Fanshawe to Jonah Magnus, that detailed how Albrecht Von Closen died.
Which is interesting not just because of the dates, but because how Albrecht died seems REALLY FUCKING SIMILAR to what we know about what happened to Red Canary. Albrecht took a bunch of books from the Württemberg tomb. He went wildly off the rails. And when he tried to return what he had taken:
"Do I need to tell you what I found, Jonah? Do I need to detail what covered his organs, his bones, the inside of his skin? What clustered together in their dozens, and all turned as one to focus on me as I opened his chest, their pupils constricting in the light, with irises of every hue and color?" (MAG 127)
Point 2: As I said over here, TMAGP 3's case is dated very close to when Anya Villette crossed between realities at Hilltop Road. They're only about three weeks apart, which seems pretty close for coincidence considering Anya's the only character we see definitely make that crossing at any point in TMA. The timing gets closer if you recall that Anya landed in TMA's world two weeks before she went to Hilltop Road in hers.
The tiny bit of speculation that I'm posting for now in a desperate attempt to conserve my sanity:
There's all this emotional/thematic resonance between the case files each voice has read and the characters they each appear to be linked to (if not to be outright), and I've been pretty swept up in that. And still am, won't lie! But I'm starting to suspect that they (or whatever is behind them) are actually searching, very deliberately, for something else entirely, and using potentially significant touchpoints from TMA's world as starting places. And that the cases we're actually hearing, and many of the thematic parallels they contain, may be only tangential to that.

hhhhmmmm today's episode was interesting
things i noted
- alice still treats FR3_D1 as freddy and humanises them
- colin distrusts all and every bit of technology as he should, considering computers and tech in general are insanely invasive and also the narrative he is in
- sam is... non confrontational which is another word for easy victim rather than being avatar behaviour, don't worry sam character arc is coming your way
- gwen... is invited to a party( ???)
things i noted in the statement
- there's an apollo and daphne thing going on (many people have already noticed this)
- the person was a doctor idk why its important but it feels important; corruption and flesh relating to the statement and also doctors in general (also im using tma classification to convey a point, i believe tmagp doesn't follow the same rules)
- the discarded phalanges (i think they will come up later??? it was such a throwaway line but it was good and unusually weird, yk like in older 2d animation you can tell what objects the characters are going to interact with? those phalanges had the same saturated vibes)
- something about watching yourself turn monstrous read by martin norris and fearing about being alone but then ultimately comforted that your partner won't leave you even when youve lost everything that made you you
