Sing a long song
Was riding in the car the other day with my daughter. Of course, I was driving which means(According to International Law and the Geneva Convention.) that I was in control of the radio. That's the rule us Americans all know and respect. He who's driving controls the radio. So all of a sudden a song came on that I hadn't heard in some time. It was an American Classic. I quizzed my daughter and asked if she knew this one. She said of course it's Rhinestone Cowboy. I was pleasantly surprised. I had raised this girl right. I then started singing along to it. We all know the chorus of where he's riding on a horse in a Star-spangled rodeo. I eventually coaxed my girl to sing along with me to the radio. I explained to my kid how Rhinestone Cowboy is a great sing-along song. I shared how when I was a young lad while in the truck with my dad and little brother Clay, all of us would sing along when dad would put his Johnny Cash Eight Track tape in and "Ring of Fire" would start playing. Dad would sing along with us. I remember how we'd boom it out during the part where Johnny Cash goes "We go down down down in that burning ring of fire, and it burns, burns, burns, the Ring of Fire, the Ring of Fire." I had been thinking about sing-along songs lately since that commercial about electric cars has been on tv and all these car passengers are singing along to FLEETWOOD Macs "Everywhere". It is a catchy commercial. Great sing-along songs in the car let me list a few: Don't Stop Believin', Love Shack, Put on the Spice Girl's "Wannabe", I'll be singing along with some added arm movements. It's a fact the two places where people feel they sound better singing are in the shower and the car with the radio cranked. I try and make sure if others are in the car I do not overpower the sound. My father would always sing so loud. I remember more than once I'd say to him in the truck. Hey Dad you don't have to be Pavarotti. Lower your volume, please.  I think life would go smoother if we had background music. Sing along rules?  Yes they exist!  No singing along to any Kenny Rogers songs. Don't you dare in my car attempt to sing along to Coward of the County or Lucille.....Plus if you attempt to play Bagpipe music and sing to it.   I'll punch you.

Chapter Thirty-Five
Preparing for War
.
1485 DR / Day 38
Ghohlbrorn’s Lair, Gracklstugh
.
“Here we are,
Different paths led us here,
Now we stand,
Happily drunk, united as one, ready to fall.
You will rise,
Warriors of rock, sweet children of mine.
Allfather's best,
Protected by faith, we're an army ready to fall.
Together we stand, together we fall,
When we do die, we meet in the hall,
The eternal feast goes on,
Warriors unite, we will stand up and fight,
See the flagons fly in Valhalla!
If we all die, we will feast on a high.
For the mead is flowing in Valhalla!”
Those were the lyrics exuberantly sung in Ghohlbrorn’s Lair that afternoon. One drink had turned into two, quickly becoming three and then four. Lizva kept them coming. The four companions soon lost count of how much they’d consumed and how much time had passed. Then when Fargas offhandedly asked Zelyra if she knew any tavern ditties, the half-elf shared the ‘mead-song’ taught to her and Arlathan by the half-giant, Krom. The barbarian had periodically chanted those verses and many others throughout their various battles against the cultists of the Gol’Goroth. The song quickly became a favorite of Arlathan’s—it mentioned mead, after all. [1]
The adventure in Goldleaf felt like an entire lifetime ago. Zelyra had been trapped in the Underdark for nearly four tendays now. And yet, the druid could admit that time spent was not all bad…
Fargas learned the lyrics in no time. The halfling currently stood on a table, tankard raised in the air, as he and a red-faced Zelyra led the entire common room in a rousing sing-along. Kazimir and Derendil pounded on the table for background accompaniment. Various non-duergar patrons who had come in to drown their sorrows or were looking to relax after a long day added a chorus. Even the stern-faced barkeep, Lizva, tapped a toe in time with the beat. This was the liveliest the Lair had been in some time, and as she was making a killing from the ale sales, the duergar was not about to stop the chaos.
“What’s Valhalla?!” a random svirfneblin called out.
But in their revelry, Zelyra and Fargas did not hear the question.
“Show no fear (warriors)
We must fight 'til the end (brave and free)
Glorious in battle (warriors)
Challenging death (brave and free).”
It was an extremely confusing scene for the other half of the party to walk into. Specifically, the half that had just spent several hours in the temple of Laduguer with Grinta and Thangus Ironhead after interfering in an assassination attempt against the latter. Fraeya had been fatally wounded in the crossfire. But the rogue still drew breath thanks to Thangus Ironhead’s gratitude and mercy.
The cleric of Laduguer had managed to heal much of the damage wrought by the assassin’s blade but warned that it could be a day or two before Fraeya regained full use of her voice. Due to the stitches that now lined her throat, the drow could only speak in a whisper, and it was painful to do so. So, for the time being, Sarith was Fraeya’s voice. The rogue would telepathically communicate anything she wished to say via sending stone for the warrior to repeat aloud. Sarith was not thrilled about it but recognized it was the best solution given the circumstances. [2]
Fraeya put on a strong front during their walk through the Blade Bazaar. But as soon as the group descended from the public eye and into the Lair, the façade dropped. The rogue lethargically draped an arm around Sarith’s shoulder for support. The warrior was stunned by the action—after all, how often did a female drow show weakness in front of a lesser male—but did his duty to help her along. Balasar, Eldeth, and Nine were also fighting their own bouts of exhaustion and irritation. And now, after their horrible ordeal, to walk into the Lair and find the others reveling…and drinking! They were none too pleased.
“What’s going on here?” Eldeth cried out.

I got a really tough question.
What’s your favorite Twst event of ALL TIME?
I like Harveston
this truly is the hardest question. :( but after much consideration, I think Endless Halloween Night wins out for me, because it's nonstop Characters Being Silly the whole way through. the whole thing is just lots of these little dorks having the most ridiculous interactions, which is always my favorite! and of course the big twist is SO delightfully stupid and doubles down SO hard that it becomes AMAZING and I 100% unironically adore it. AND it's Halloween! everyone is in their cute little costumes and having a spooky adventure! it's great!
however, I am ALSO a big fan of the Harveston event! how can I not be! everyone is wearing comfy winter outfits and getting along really weirdly well with Epel's grandma and he's getting a little worried about that! my terrible loud son sews a plush squirrel and then gives it a silly little nickname and refuses to leave it behind when it breaks! the ending shot with the sled! I LOVE IT.
obviously we need the best of both worlds now

everything about coriolanus and sejanus is sick. because to sejanus, coryo was his everything. his best and only friend, his only companion, the only person in the academy who cared enough for him that he had even risked his life to bail him out of the arena. in district 12, when sejanus appeared in the brink of snow’s hopelessness and brought hope and familiarity to his life, coryo immediately embraced him, and then practically telling him that sejanus just saved him from committing suicide— which obviously only solidified sejanus’ belief that his best friend treasured him and loved him and cared for him unconditionally. (which i believe snow did, just to some extent).
but most of the times, to coryo, sejanus was just a friend. a friend that he tolerated every once in a while, a friend he resented lots of time because of his background, and a friend he really cared for, but not enough. never enough when the other choice was his country. and sejanus died not knowing that. he died without the knowledge that it was his best friend who betrayed him, and that he was still referred to as a “traitor” by him on an occasion with the dean.
and what’s so fucking sick is that coryo did care and mourn about it yes, but then he moved on and took on the ladder by taking pieces of what was left of his friend’s life with his blood on his hands and used it to his advantage.
he was taken in under the care of his dead friend’s family, loved and cared for, never had to worry about money anymore. ma and strabo plinth would never know that the reason their beloved son wasn’t alive, why their son wasn’t there anymore for his 19th birthday was because of his best friend they had just taken in. and no one would ever ever fucking find out.
and coryo. just. doesn’t. care. about. sejanus. anymore. in a snap. because now he has won, taking over panem one step at the time, and that has always been his biggest motivator. he might’ve cared for sejanus, like he cared for lucy gray, but that has never been enough. not when at the end of it all, the only person he has always been striving to save was himself and the glory of his family name and he ends up getting both. all’s well that ends well
