So after taking some time to clear my head, and letting the wave of relief and closure wash over me, and feeling like someone literally unclogged my brain, I rewatched season 3 of Young Royals, but only finished just the night before I was going away for Easter weekend, so I didn’t have time to write anything.
But now I can finally say this: I liked it much better the second time.
And it wasn’t just the trepidation and anxiety that i had for finding out what happened in the end that kept me from completely enjoying it the first time. It was also that annoying week-long gap that we had to endure before watching the finale.
(I get that they did it for promotional purposes, and it was a lovely thing to be able to have that event for the final chapter, which obviously could only be one chapter, imagine having everyone there for the entire season, everyone watching for nearly six hours… no good.)
That gap, I feel, made it feel like we just landed randomly on an episode that was meant to tie up all the storylines. And of course it is, and of course it still feels that way in regards to some storylines, but wow, what a difference it makes to watch the whole thing as a whole, the way I’ve enjoyed the previous seasons.
I definitely could process it much better the second time around, watching calmly and carefully, and once I jumped straight from episode 5 into episode 6, it definitely felt more cohesive. It felt like it followed the same pattern as the previous seasons, the conflict at the end of episode 5 is very similar in every season, and it felt right.
And the final episode of each season seems to follow a very similar pattern too, except that it shifts a little each time as Wille gains autonomy. In Season 1, the climax was that Wille had to do what the crown said, on the crown’s terms (deny the video, keep August’s betrayal secret, lose Simon), because he didn’t know what else to do, he didn’t have a choice, sad ending. In season 2, he has to do what the crown says (do the speech, play the part of the Crown Prince), BUT he’s doing it on his own terms (telling the truth about the video, being with Simon, even if it means keeping August’s secret), he has somewhat of a choice, bittersweet ending. In season 3… well, it looks like he’s doing what the crown says still… and then he finally realizes that he does have a choice. Sad ending? Nej! He finally gets his happy ending. He has come to terms that the can have a choice.
The second time around, just when we thought we were getting yet another sad ending or bittersweet ending like the previous seasons, it shifted. Plot twist, he’s getting out of the car. Of course there is a lot up in the air (was your first thought also literally “but Wille, you left your bag in the car! You don’t have a toothbrush! You don’t have a phone charger! You don’t have clean underwear!” or are you normal? I am not normal, I have anxiety about things like that), there are many things that will still need to be resolved after the credits roll, but… it felt right.
And of course there are things that got tied up and still felt a bit quick, and things that felt annoyingly left up in the air, but that was precisely what happened each season, things that felt like maybe would get properly addressed the next season, but that’s not how life works. Not everything gets resolved. And it feels a little sadder or more bitter because we’re not getting another season.
But we are. It’s playing in our heads right now. People are writing fanfiction about it. And I can’t wait to absorb it all.
I’m definitely watching the whole season again, and doing a play-by-play analysis like I did for season 2, because I love hyperanalyzing every detail of this show.
Can I just preliminarily warn that I will be gushing about Edvin and Omar, and Nikita and Frida and Malte, so so much? Because the second time watching season 3, I was in awe, true awe, of how good they have all gotten. I mean, they’ve all been incredible from day one, but I feel like there were nuances to their characters this season that highlighted so much how incredible they all are. Particularly my babies, Edvin and Omar, deserve all the awards. Can’t wait to see everything they do.
I will miss them with all my soul. But I don’t have to let go of them yet.

Fionna and Cake Final Episode Thoughts
Or Alternatively, How A Series Full of Women Managed To Fumble A Story In a Misogynistic Way
Hello everyone, I just got done watching the last few episodes of Fionna and Cake. I haven’t had a chance to rewatch the final 2 episodes out of pure shock, but I have reanalyzed every other episode and have discussed + concluded how/why the finale flopped in the way it did.
Do not get me wrong, I enjoyed a bits and pieces of Fionna and Cake and this is by no means a hate post. But as someone who grew up as an avid fan of both Betty and Simon’s story, I was left unsatisfied by their conclusion. It wasn’t necessarily because they went their separate ways in the end or anything of that nature.
Instead this post will attempt to address the contrasting facets of their relationship in the original series v. Fionna and Cake, the implications of their writing, and how narratively it does not fit in with the rest of the characters or the narrative as a whole. I ask that this is read with nuance + through the perspective as someone who has presented as feminine throughout their life and consider why this story misinterpreted woman characters as a whole.
In addition, I also want to articulate how this series misrepresented Simon as both a character, and how this misinterpretation perpetuates toxic behavior in men across society.
Also, it’s 5 am and I am extremely tired, so I apologize if I gloss over some other things! Feel free to add your own thoughts.
Foremost, the first thing I want to address is how Fionna acts in relation to Simon throughout the beginning of Fionna and Cake.
In many instances, she is shown to be quite apathetic towards Simon’s situation.
Granted, she doesn’t know him. Her first impressions of him are…do not showcase his best qualities either.
Which is fine! It’s quite obvious that it would make narratively more sense for Fionna to feel more empathetic towards Simon as they proceed on their journey together.
Most notably, this line right here foreshadowns the most character growth.
Tumblr media
Except…the contrast of this point falls flat in comparison to the tons of other terrible things that Ice King has done as a character.
He
1. Has comparatively more depressive/manic episodes than this
2. Acts comparatively more selfish AND dangerous at other points throughout the series
3. Was a genuine threat to others at one point, especially women
Although the attempt to frame Ice King’s delirious breakdown as the catalyst to Fionna’s sympathy tried to play…
Tumblr media
the writers missed an incredible opportunity to showcase just how bad Simon could be as Ice King. Instead.
Tumblr media
Instead, it frames him as embarrassing at most.
I’m not a huge Fionna fan by any means, but I think she would have had way more emotional depth if she had been showcased really empathizing with Simon when he was at his worst. It would have made 1. Their relationship more meaningful 2. It would have been nice to see her reflect on how poorly she treated Simon at the beginning of the series. There was a lot of room for emotional growth there.
Which brings me to another point.
I know that as a fandom the general consensus is that Simon is a sad wet cat, and many people hc him as anything other than cishet. But ultimately at the end of the day the writers are trying to portray him as a cisgender heterosexual male.
Which is a big issue when it comes to both him and Betty’s relationship throughout the series.
It’s important to note here: Within the original series, it is well established that Simon is an incredibly selfless man who is equally passionate and obsessed with Betty. Enough to create a time portal see her again, enough to capture princesses as a manifestation of his love for her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yet…
Their relationship is framed in such a way that contradicts any of these established traits of their characters.
Simon is incredibly selfish towards Betty. Not only in his actions, but in his words. Which is INCREDIBLY contradicting to his character, as he is shown to be quite selfless throughout the series.
Not only this, but they are BOTH incredibly dismissive throughout the finale!
Why isn’t Betty allowed to get angry at Simon? She not only gave up her life for him, but her agency as well. Not only this! But she infantilized the fuck out of him! She had to literally place him in the shoes of a child for him to understand how much she devoted herself for him.
And this is not her fault as a character! This is a deliberate choice by writers! They chose to write her character this way.
Also despite the fact that Simon is just as passionate as Betty throughout the original series, she is somehow framed as the obsessive one. Even though Simon’s obsession with Betty LITERALLY MANIFESTED IN HIM CAPTURING AND TRYING TO MARRY WOMEN.
And of course the implications of these scenes also makes the exchange between Winter King and Simon about Betty even more fucked up!
The fact that that line about Betty being the “dead one” was never fleshed out sort of implies that the writers only seen Betty as a way to propel Simon’s character development forward.
And it’s done in the most lukewarm way possible. The way that this series was building up, the fact that Betty sacrificed everything, it would have made sense for her to be pissed.
Instead she just lets him go.
And this wouldn’t make me so angry. Except….
Tumblr media
Gary sacrificed his entire career to support Marshall. And this is framed in a positive light.
But when a woman does the same exact thing she is punished for it…
It’s not fair.
Now that we’ve established this can we stop pretending that it’s okay for male characters in fiction to get away with acting like children? I’ve said this before, but Simon’s development throughout Fionna and Cake feels on par with Adam Sandler’s Click. Except, to quote @tezzaa “Click actually made me cry”.
Which is incredibly sad, because I love Simon as a character. But it’s clear to me that Simon was not written with an ounce of nuance towards women, even though the majority of the cast is largely female.
It’s sad to see what has been done to this character.
Anyways. Those are my thoughts. I’m sorry if you disagree. I don’t want to debate this, I just wanted to point out how these characters are treated from a feminist’s standpoint. Thank you.
edit: i want to note that i do realize that betty and simon are toxic as a couple, i just don’t think that their writing reflected their toxic tendencies in an accurate way in accordance with their characters

Some moments in season 3 of Young Royals that stand out for me ep.3
The day went on, I came back from work, recorded and sent my audition video for singing competition so I'm ready for another rewatch of episode 3, season 3. Let's go!
My posts about previous episodes are here and here
Simon telling Linda what she needs to hear
Tumblr media
I mean - this is another unspoken fact most of us could see in season 1 and 2- Simon protect his mom and Sara for no matter what cost. We saw it with the bill from school after he took some extra lessons, we hear it now straight up from Simon.
Satisfying.
2. Running?
Tumblr media
That was somehow a surprise for me. Like... he runs? Princes do that?!?!?! Kidding. But I immediately compared it to August's way of handling things... So... Wille is actually trying to help himself...? Wille why don't you go talk to Boris?
3. Safety first
Tumblr media
Simon wearing helmet while going with Rosh and ayub on scooters. Finally.
4. Simon crying
Tumblr media
I couldn't breathe. My friends needed to remind me to breathe. The way Wille diminished the comments meaning and left Simon alone with all that was just heartbreaking.
5. School Inspectorate arrival
Tumblr media
I mean it's about the music again. My friend was like "what is it with this music!?", and another one screamed "what? the school inspectors are here! What is it you don't understand!?". And it has such a Skam vibe. I feel like this season is the most Skamlike of them all. What do you think?
6. Wilmon kissing on the piano.
Tumblr media
Iconic. Very classic. I'm glad we have something like this scene with a gay couple. And it's so cool that this gay couple happened to be Wilmon.
Also Simon's hand, pulling Wilhelm down with him. Ooh!
7. Poppe!
Tumblr media
I was just happy I see him again <3 But also, it was so good to see him there for Felice. And them talk.
Also, I don't know what is it with those fathers, but I could find some of my father in Micke and Poppe this season and that really warmed my heart.
8. THOSE HANDS?!
Tumblr media
I felt like I shouldn't look. AND NOONE WARNED ME! Like really...
Tumblr media
Why so fvcking hot gay?
9. Valborg
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The music, the fire. As my friend said: Swedes are freaking wizards.
10. This moment
Tumblr media
The whole sequence. Bottom Wille. But this moment. It makes me feel like I'm gonna pass out bc of the amount of electricity in this scene. But this exact moment is my favourite.
11. Micke
Tumblr media
Heart attack. this is what this series does really good. Makes you feel what the character feels. I thought I will jump out of my body.
12. Simon sharing photo from 1st May
Tumblr media
Like, after all of this... He's there, it's already ok. Why sharing it and causing more attention... Siiimoooon.
Tumblr media
Yikes...
I laughed hard though... It turned out so wrong xDDDD
13. The end of the episode
Tumblr media
Well... I have already seen it in a trailer, but the way it came in the episode... What did you said about breathing? Oh, I forgot to continue one.
Tomorrow is the day. Oh, I'm so sad I can't be in Stockholm. But I believe in ancient spirits that walk on this earth and protect us all, so mine will go tomorrow to Stockholm to hug some people who saved me by creating Young Royals.
Goodnight, beautiful fandom!

Okay, the thing is that I’ve seen some people speculate about the Winter King’s backstory and past assuming, like, that he’s always kinda been Like That. Like, that this version of Simon Petrikov has always been an evil heartless bastard or at least just a little less caring and loving than Mainworld Simon and that’s what led him down the path of the Winter King.
But speaking personally… I think this is a less compelling story as it relates to Simon’s character arc. I think it’s a lot more interesting if the Winter King was indeed ‘once just like’ Mainverse Simon.
Tumblr media
That he used to be that selfless, dedicated and loving man - and he still managed to stoop this low. I mean, well, Simon seems to have come to the conclusion that this version of him was just ‘messed up’
Tumblr media
and that was mostly part of a trend of him in these last two episodes just kinda going
Tumblr media
You know, like, I don’t think that the lesson he should’ve learned from his adventures in Winterworld is just “wow, that one specific alternative version of me sure does suck!”. Farmworld, via its version of Finn, was a reminder for Simon of just how much of a traumatic experience the Curse of the Magic Crown is. Winterworld should’ve reminded him of the torment and indignity he was trapped in and how often he was a danger to himself and others
Tumblr media
And of the truly fucked-up and terrible things he was capable of doing due to that torment and desperation of the Curse.
Tumblr media
The Winter King is like a Whole New Exciting Way for Simon to lose his identity due to the Magic Crown, preserving his mind and memory by destroying the love and dedication and care that the Magic Crown never quite managed to fully burn away - his actual ‘immutable essence’. And this doesn’t work if the Winter King was always just Intrinsically a significantly different and worse person than Mainworld Simon, y’know?
And remember, we know the Winter King was in full on Ice King mode when he ‘conquered the crown’ (AKA cast that terrible spell to condemn Princess Bubblegum to the same terrible fate he’s been suffering).
Tumblr media
And Mainverse Ice King was absolutely capable of trying to perform some fucked-up mind-altering spells of his own.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The only thing is that he was never quite that successful.
The main thing I am still unsure of with my favored reading/interpretation of how Winterworld Simon became the Winter King is…. There’s like, two different mutually-exclusive readings of what happened after the Curse was cast on Peebles and Simon regained his lucidity that are both very appealing to me from a thematic perspective. And I’m really not sure which one I like best.
Because the real issue was never ‘would Ice King be willing to cast such a horrible immoral spell?’, especially as one could easily imagine that whatever lucidity would allow Ice King to understand how his Crown is harming him and devise such a complicated spell would not necessarily extend to enough lucidity to fully understand the consequences of his actions. The issue is Winterworld Simon Petrikov, having regained his clarity of mind, choosing to maintain this spell for a hundred years. There's a reason why that's the thing Mainverse Simon fixated on when he figured out what's going on.
Tumblr media
My first thought (and that’s something I went into more detail in a previous post) was this: Ice King’s madness was never wholly separated from Simon’s personality. Like, yeah, it was the Crown’s Magic that drove him so Mad and Sad - but it was also the trauma of losing Betty and surviving through the Mushroom War and feeling forced to abandon his beloved Marceline.
And that Madness was based on Simon’s psyche. Ice King’s loneliness and romantic obsession and Princess-nappings are all based on how much he loves and misses Betty
Tumblr media
And now, Princess Bubblegum has been forced into a mirrored recreation of them.
Tumblr media
The Candy Queen isn’t suffering from just the Magic Crown’s madness in general - but specifically from how it was shaped by Simon’s heart. And since you can’t actually separate this manifestation of Ice King’s Madness from Simon’s love for Betty - the Winter King ridding himself of one also rid himself of the other.
Tumblr media
And since so much of Ice King’s Madness was interwoven into Simon’s psyche and especially his love and his kindness - throwing away all of this Madness into someone else also decimated these aspects of his personality. Princess Bubblegum already paid the ultimate price for Winterworld Simon’s sanity - but in a way he also paid a grave cost as well; becoming an unrecognizably different person he would previously find morally disgusting - even morso than Ice King.
Because the lines between Simon Petrikov and Ice King are always going to be a bit blurry and messy, and because Simon can’t probably live a life totally free of his Madness and Sadness but he’s gonna have to accept it for an actual mostly happy and sane life as someone who is recognizably Simon Petrikov.
Buuuut… that still basically means that casting of that Curse just kinda irrevocably transformed him into a Heartless Bastard. And that’s maybe not as compelling as if this change from kind and dorky Simon Petrikov into Evil Brian David Gilbert was done of his own free will
Hundreds of years of the Magic Crown eating away at his sanity and memories couldn’t truly destroy Simon Petrikov’s ‘immutable essence’. He still missed Betty more than anything even as this longing was twisted into something horrible, and still loved Marceline like a daughter even if he didn’t understand it. The one thing that could truly destroy this love that is so core to Simon’s being is him choosing to become selfish and cruel and uncaring.
And since he was in Full Ice King Mode when he cast the spell… I dunno if I can actually call it a fully-conscious act of cruelty. Deeply fucked up? Yes. But it’s hard to say how much Winterworld Ice King actually understood what he was doing. And while I think it’s much more emotionally compelling if the Winter King started from the same place as our beloved Mainworld Simon. The only difference can’t just be the pure luck that Mainworld Ice King was just never lucid or focused enough to successfully cast a spell that would transform him into an equally terrible person.
For this angle to work, this decision to continue doing the bad thing has to come from a lucid Simon who is still kinda recognizably Simon and still chose to continue perpetuating the Curse Ice King cast on Princess Bubblegum.
This might seem unthinkable, especially considering how obviously disgusted Mainworld Simon was at the Winter King’s actions. But you have to consider just how much Winterworld Simon would be desperate to not be Ice King again, Mainworld Simon was once willing to die then live the rest of eternity as IK. The fact that he’s so willing to throw away his sanity again now is so worrying because it shows just how badly he’s being doing - because at first, Simon was fighting so badly to avoid diving back into this pit of madness. And that Spell must've seen like the only chance he was gonna get.
And, yes, Simon Petrikov is a character full of kindness and love and selflessness - but that never meant he was the sort of Cinnamon Roll incapable of ever hurting anymore and especially not when he’s desperate or lashing out. That’s kinda the fallacy Simon himself fell into when he had that total identity crisis in the second episode. He just couldn’t find a way to join his previous identity as the patient and fatherly man who took care of Marceline
Tumblr media
With the fact he made a little girl cry.
Tumblr media
But yes, both we the audience and Simon himself have to face the fact that despite possessing such strong fatherly instinct and a desire to help children - Simon can also lash out in his trauma in a very cruel manner that goes against all of his own values.
Tumblr media
And by the end of the fourth episode, he was tempted to let himself die - even though that will also utterly destroy a whole universe of sapient beings living in his head. It was brief thanks to Fionna knocking some sense into him and obviously the Literal Suicidal Depression involved was also seriously clouding his judgement. But that is still Simon nearly dooming a whole realm of other people  because he was feeling absolutely desperate.
Not to mention him kidnapping someone and forcing him into a terrible experiment for the sake of trying to summon GOLBetty.
Tumblr media
A desperate attempt to reconnect with his lost love (and in a way, a missing part of his identity as Betty Grof’s other half). Which I mean, yeah, ‘it’s just Choose Goose’, but also last time GOLB was summoned it nearly fucked up all of Ooo and the only thing GOLBetty could do about that is get herself as far away from Simon as she can. And now Simon is gonna try and summon his Eldritch GF again in the middle of a major population center.
Tumblr media
And of course, Winterworld Simon and Mainworld Simon are never going to be fully exactly the same person because ‘Simon Petrikov’ is not some immutable unchanging concept and we know that they’ve had different experiences. It was really so sweet to see Mainverse Simon pay forwards the kindness he’s gotten from his loved ones when he was stuck as the Ice King towards the Candy Queen
Tumblr media
But it also reminded me that the Winter King himself never got that sort of kindness and grace in the first place. The Curse was cast one hundred years ago. Back then, Marceline was still avoiding him because she couldn’t stand to see what he had become, Finn and Jake were not his friends on account of neither of them being born yet and… they also directly or indirectly helped him get his entire rest circle of friends.
Tumblr media
So Mainworld Simon emerged from an Ice King who was not absolutely free from misery and loneliness… but has also experienced happiness and friends both from people who just loved him for who he was at the moment
Tumblr media
And grace and kindness from those concerned for his condition and honestly doing their best to make sure he’s doing his best in his current state and trying to bring out whatever of Simon was left in him.
Tumblr media
While Winterworld Simon emerged from Ice King at his worst and his most miserable.
Tumblr media
And while the Winter King’s callousness about Betty would kinda always be a worrying testament to how much Simonness he has lost - it is extra disturbing for the viewers and Mainworld Simon because they have seen Betty sacrifice her entire being for his sake. That would just reinforce his own love and dedication to her in his mind… not always in the healthiest of ways.
Tumblr media
But the Winter King has experienced nothing of that sort. He was not freed in a self-sacrifice fueled by love that literally defied time itself. Wintdrworld Simon only regained his lucidity because of a deeply fucked up and selfish action he has taken as the Ice King. And as far as he knew, that was his only choice except death or the eternal despair of being the Ice King.
And so maybe Winterworld Simon managed to convince himself that he can stay like this for just one day. Just one day of enjoying both lucidity and Magic and then he’s going to undo it because obviously he knows that it’s terrible what the Ice King did! I mean, yeah, Princess Bubblegum and the rest of the Candy Kingdom are suffering but they’re also going to suffer when the Ice King comes back so it’s really a lateral move for them. For just one day!
And then by the next day, Winterworld Simon finds one more excuse why he can wait until tomorrow to bring everything back to normal. And day by day it becomes just a little bit easier to justify perpetuating something so terrible. Day by day he gives up a little bit more of his morals and his selflessness and his love. Until he finally finds out that he just doesn’t care anymore about being a selfish heartless bastard.
Tumblr media
The same way the Magic Crown took his sanity and identity gradually - he’s now so desperate to cling to them that he chose to tear away at what was once the core most parts of himself
Until he became just as unrecognizable.
Both of these ideas are really compelling to me but they’re also kinda opposite. Maybe there’s a way to balance them both in a way that preserves what makes them so interesting for Simon’s character in the first place??

A discussion of unwanted physical touch in Young Royals
[specifically between Wille & Simon ]
| TW : discussion of unwanted physical touch, I'm aware this discussion is sensitive for some. If this is something that could make you uncomfortable, please take caution while reading this analysis! |
While the conversation of Physical Touch is EXTREMELY special and vital to the relationship Wille and Simon have, that doesn't mean it's always welcome.
There are many times where Wille will reach out to Simon, or vice versa and that love language will get rejected. It's very rare, but it's important to discuss.
This is a kind reminder that just because someone may have physical touch as their love language, that doesn't mean they owe it to you, or welcome it.
I can't be around you right now.. [ Season 2 EP 1 ]
Tumblr media
This is a really good example of Simon making it clear to Wille that his love language isn't welcome in the conversation between them, at that moment. That has a really intense effect on Wille, and it makes him realize just how badly he's messed things up.
This is also a rare occasion where Simon is using his words to express how he's feeling to Wille, which he doesn't do a lot. He's very guarded. He almost gets irritated at Wille for him not really listening, and just acting like they used to.
Wille isn't understanding what he's saying UNTIL Simon makes it clear that he's not really allowed to reach back out like he usually would. That he needs space and that's something Wille isn't good at handling.
Please I just want to go home. [ Season 2 Episode 6 ]
Tumblr media
The relationship is healed for the most part, well more than what we started the season with. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean Simon will always allow Wille into that physical touch space.
Simon has just been absolutely hit with a BOMB of horrible information, and he can't handle it. Wille can't really express his feelings with his words, so he tries to with his actions.
We just saw this hug happen in a previous episode, and it was beautiful and consensual and loving.
Wille genuinely thought he could recreate that here, but this situation is VERY highly charged with emotions and trauma. That isn't something Wille took into account.
Tumblr media
In this instance, he gets rejected because this is too much for Simon to handle and he can't have Wille pushing for that connection. It doesn't mean he doesn't love Wille, it just means he's overwhelmed and that's okay.
This is a really good example of their communication not being the best across the board. We love to talk about the physical touch love language discussion between them, but not the other love languages and how important those are.
I'm going outside, do you want to join me? [ Season 1 Episode 1 ]
Tumblr media
This one is left out of the discussion a lot which is kind of a bummer, because it's just as important as the others.
Wille and Simon are just starting to interact right, but we know Wille is already whipped as hell for Simon. He is ALREADY bringing the language of physical touch in between them, but Simon is caught off guard almost by it.
Tumblr media
Simon is genuinely looking around at what is going on almost wondering why Wille is already so casual with him, since they just met really they barely have a relationship.
That causes Wille to react, by looking over at him when he takes his hand down. The love language has already been cut short here, and it catches both of them off guard.
could you lend me a pencil? [ Season 2 Episode 2 ]
Tumblr media
This one makes me so sad because we see Wille try to emulate that moment they shared at the manor house watching that horror movie, but here that doesn't work.
Tumblr media
It almost actually does the opposite, because the memory of that is painful for Simon right now.
Wille is really TRYING to get Simon to communicate, and seriously it's making this whole thing worse. He's doing everything he can to either get physical communication out of Simon OR he'll even take verbal at this point. Because he is that desperate.
Yes Wille uses physical touch to communicate, and yes Simon usually does as well.
HOWEVER, that doesn't mean it's always welcome regardless of if you're in a relationship or not.

Ok watched the new episodes, my quick thoughts: (spoiler)
I thought cake dropped the f bomb when she said “puck him up!” In the first few minutes. Sort of disappointed she didn’t tho, that’d be really funny
Episode one overall was really cute! Gave me big bee and puppy cat vibes
I like the relationship Fiona has with both Gary and Marshal. ALSO PEPPERMINT BUTLER WAS SUCH A JUMPSCARE IDK WHY
Also surprising: Hunter?? (Genderswapped human huntress wizard). It’s a different design than the one we see in the trailers! I’m not sure how to think of it yet but I could immediately sense the sort of pairing they are going for obviously with Fiona.
Lsp was lsp
Also the human lemongrabs haha
Intro theme was a banger??? Especially episode 2
Ok episode two: essentially a Simon torture porn episode like oh my god I am not kidding
He’s such a looser (sad)
Like give my man a break
I bet you could easily make a 20 minute compilation of every time Simon gets whacked in the head or punched or something, by the end of the series.
Also Simon and Marcy flashback. Gonna throw up now my heart won’t take it
He is going insane. Like his girl how cute 💕💕💕💕
Betty shrine
Choose goose but EVIL!! yes! This was hinted at in the “wizard city” episode of distant lands, and now he is back but filled with dark magic I guess.
Nothing happens with that little Fiona fangirl
FINN!!! He is very big but thr same the whole time, I am happy to see him back
Jake is dead :’(
Finn hangs out with TV now, interesting. TV even has a little tamagotchi
This episode REALLY earned the tv-14 rating. Lots of blood, but satisfying in a way. A beat up monster actually has visible injuries!!
Well also Simon his arm gets jacked up. Because it’s mandatory I guess
I have no idea what’s gonna happen to finns weird scratch, maybe nothing
Finn makes like at least two jokes about his balls and it’s so good. He’d totally be the person to think balls are funny
Huntress wizard is also mentioned in this episode too!! Not any appearances though. Finn does say he regularly meets with her though, and at the end of the episode even goes to “hang out” with her
Rebecca sugar song!!! I think!!!
OH YEAH WE GOT A BIT OF BUBBALINEEE. Nothing too important, just them having a goofy time and being happy :3
next: Simon summons god /j
Well, he does something to connect with golb, or at least his intentions. But choose goose messes up the chant by saying something about Fiona and cake.
Ok so THEORY: this summoning/portal ritual caused a portal to appear from Simon to Fiona’s world, like the chant eventually said. The portal itself (in Fiona’s universe) was specifically tied to ice, since that’s a point of simons identity. Well, the portal cake wen through was right near human ice queen, so I thought it was because ice queen was the Simon of Fiona’s universe. But cake doesn’t enter her, but just the ice in her ice cream cart. Hmmm,,,, not sure.
Ok I think that’s it for now!!

Simon and Betty, Change, and Acceptance - my thoughts on their story
Tumblr media
(F&C and AT spoilers under the cut!!) (long post warning)
So obviously a big thing throughout the finale was learning to understand just how important letting the past go is.
Simon and Betty were no doubt hopelessly in love with one another, and though it's freaking adorable, you begin to notice how all the Simon and Betty-centric episodes of the main series, without fail, feature Betty making some kind of sacrifice or bending herself over backwards for Simon's sake. And it wasn't as clear back then, since Simon wasn't himself for majority of the episodes (I think the only time where he wasn't Ice King in the present day would be in "Betty"), but it's definitely something that settles in the back of your mind. This is a pretty nice setup for what happens in F&C.
Now fast forward to F&C's eighth episode "Jerry", where we get a LOT of Petrigrof scenes in the form of flashbacks. When I first saw it, I thought it was adorable and wonderfully ideal. But even then, there were still a couple things that rubbed me the wrong way, though I couldn't quite place it then. During my second watch, I started to pick up on hints that maybe their relationship wasn't as perfect as the show previously portrayed it to be. There may be more, but here are the ones I can think of off the top of my head:
Betty readily tossing her 6-month trip aside in a momentary decision to go on an expedition with Simon (who, let's be honest, invited her in a semi-joking manner and didn't expect her to say yes) despite really only being acquaintances at best at the time
She also gave Simon all the credit for finding the Enchiridion, and I actually expected him to insist on Betty getting some credit a little more than he actually did
She tosses her 6-month trip away AGAIN the moment Simon shows up- her roommate(?) also placed a lot of emphasis on not letting her miss her bus, and yet she did in the end anyways
☆When Fionna asks if Simon went on the trip with her, Simon's surprised and confused. He didn't seem to consider it as a possibility at the time, not out of malice, just that it never actually crossed his mind
And throughout all of these, notice that Betty's essentially throwing her research opportunity and even her career's future away over and over again because she wants to be with Simon, and Simon never objected or told her that she should go for that trip, so why not? And you can see from the fourth point that Simon kinda just never thought about it like that, so if he didn't notice, then of course he didn't stop her. In this subtle way, Betty was unintentionally encouraged to sacrifice more and more things for him.
This is still reflected even as she to loses herself to MMS (magic, madness, and sadness), continuing all the way until her ultimate sacrifice of merging with Golb at the end of AT.
---------- ---------- ----------
That was Betty's side. Now let's look at Simon's progress throughout the finale a little more. I think that Casper and Nova (the storybook, not just the episode) was used really well to represent Simon and Betty's situation, specifically from a third-person point of view. It served as a major factor towards Simon's epiphany moment, especially since it bore so many similarities to him and Betty, allowing him to finally understand what it was like on Betty's end as well.
Casper and Nova was a choose your own story adventure novel (or at least the video gamey futuristic version of one), and the nice thing about that is how it lets Simon make his own decisions. And what he essentially does is repeat what he did with Betty all over again, even though he didn't realise it at first.
Tumblr media
"No do-overs with this book, I guess"
I'd like to bring your attention to this part. When Simon wants to pick the other option when his first choice didn't work out, the book doesn't let him, and what's done is done. Sound familiar?
Tumblr media
"I don't want any of those things to happen; I like Nova! There should be more choices!"
"Well, maybe there would be, if you hadn't picked Casper's options every time."
Aaaaaand cue epiphany. Simon realises that throughout the relationship, he was always put first. But just like Beth said, it wasn't necessarily Casper's (and by extension his) fault. Yet Simon agrees that he could have been more considerate.
Tumblr media
When he's given a chance to relive a crucial moment in their story, he acts differently due to his prior grand realisation. And yet, he never gets on the bus. He knows that no matter how he would have handled it in the present, that isn't what he did in the past, and that's that. Same as the story of Casper and Nova- no do-overs.
And yeah, that sucks. But look here.
Tumblr media
Simon's sending Betty- his Betty, not Golbetty- off, properly this time. This is their goodbye. And immediately after, he sees Golbetty on that bus instead of Betty. He's accepted that his Betty is gone.
Tumblr media
If he had just realised the extent of Betty's sacrifices, he would've intervened because the last thing he wants is to do that to her since he loves her dearly, and then things would've been different. Maybe if he had gone on that trip with her, he would've never even found the crown. But he didn't realise, and it's too late now. They've both made their choices and mistakes- not in loving each other, but in the sort of inequality of it all, even while wholly unintentional. But regardless, there's no way to undo them, and there's nothing else they can do about it but move forward.
This doesn't necessarily mean forgetting the past ever happened- they were a massive part of each other's lives. They'll still love each other, and think about each other, and miss each other. But the difference is that they've accepted that they're just no longer the same people they were before, and that's okay.
Simon won't get his fiancée back. Betty isn't really Betty anymore, and will never be again. They've both learned to accept that change. A fatal flaw in Betty's character back in the original series was refusing to accept the Ice King, instead viewing him and not just the crown as something that's stopping her from getting her Simon back. And we all know how that turned out.
Tumblr media
Simon and Betty won't ever be together like they were before again. Though devastating, things like these, at the end of the day, are a part of life. The important thing is that they were both able to learn from these experiences and continue on with the cards they have been dealt, and that's exactly what they did; with Betty's new duties as GOLB (or maybe even possible reincarnation as some have been theorising) and Simon finally seeking help (thank god he realised that being a living exhibition wasn't the best idea) and accepting the life he was put into.
Simon's not gonna just magically be better, and that's okay. Little by little, he's gonna move on from the past and learn to enjoy life again , and I think the realism in the way it's portrayed is absolutely beautiful.

okay some of my thoughts on the last episode right after finishing it
‼️ spoilers for the last episode ‼️
i'm happy wilmon got a happy ending
i would however like to see them actually working on everything that was an issue in their relationship and actually talking with each other
wille's abdication was something we all have seen coming and i'm happy it happened because he really wasn't happy about being the crown prince and the king
the redemption with wilhelm's parents was bit underwhelming but i'm still happy it happened
i'm still not sure about august but i do think he actually is sorry in some capacity
i liked the talk he had with wilhelm about eric, because we will never know what he would say about wilmon but i think this was the best way for wille to get some sort of closure
also i think he's right, we know eric loved him and i think simon was right about what he said when he found out about the initiations (it being peer pressure and such)
sara and august not being together is good because sara was right - august has issues and just because sara was the first one to see him doesn't mean he can just be forgiven for everything
also liked the talk about how now that he got to be in the line for the throne his life is going to be harder and how his position before was much easier
in a sense it could be seen as a punishment for him as well, he got what he wanted in the beginning but it will cost him a lot
i liked that sara decided to put simon and felice over august
sara and felice fixing up their relationship is nice as well, but again i would like to see them talk about it bit more
i'm also happy felice said the truth about the school and how sara supported her
i was really excited for stella and fredrika this season but i was really disappointed with them
i'm happy they got together, but the way they treated felice was just so off-putting
(also stella lashing out on rosh at the party was a reminder that they still have a superiority complex)
madison is still an icon though, no notes
i still don't know how i feel about vincent, like sometimes he's really funny but then he says something completely insane and i want to tape his mouth shut
i did really like the coming out scene with nils august and vincent, it was really nice moment
there was not enough of henry and walter in the last season, truly sad
i'm actually not that mad that hillerska's closing honestly, i think it makes sense with the show ending
(also completely honest, they are all rich spoiled brats with a superiority complex that thought that just because they are rich the rules wouldn't apply to them so i'm not going to be sad for them that much) (still love wille and felice)
overall i have mixed feelings about the whole season 3 but the finale was nice ending for the show
and getting a happy ending really seemed impossible so i'm glad it happened (god knows we all deserve it)
omar and edvin really portrayed the characters so well, their acting was phenomenal and they made this show into what it is
also shout out to all the other actors, they truly were all amazing
and lastly, i'm gonna really miss this show

the fionna and cake ending reminds me of this article
sorry but u show golbetty being capable of so much and simon literally was gonna thank her for eating him but nooo we have to get a "emotionally well adjusted grounded" end about taking your lumps and not having a chaos god wife. god forbid women do anything. also the double standard with marshall and gary's romance i was not fond of-- u are telling me in all possible universes marshall and gary are healthy enough to have a happy ending and simon and betty arent? Because thats what youre saying when you frame all of this in a multiverse story.
the plot selectively gives easy outs like golbetty being happy to pop fionna and cakes world out of his head miraculously but we cant have petrigrof because one time simon didnt get on a bus. golbetty shows fionna a dream that sets her straight-- oh yeah, magic WOULD suck! this example world that is much worse than the original f&c world has shown me the light!! dont worry fionna, the threat of losing the world you took for granted and up until now it was implied you were barely making ends meet in will show you that your fantasy and dream were Bad. But cake can stay magic, because thats a metaphor for self identity and not a metaphor for telling a 20-something to grow up! simon stands there and explains what he learned to the audience just in case u didnt Get the Message about Toxic Codependency tm. it was the perfect setup for a dramatic universe breaking love story but instead we get simon being put basically back where we thought he was before the first eps of fionna and cake revealed he wasnt doing well. and that whole show they didnt budget a single scene for simon and our marceline to like. talk. 10 20-plus-minute AT episodes-- what we have been asking for for years-- and in the whole set we get the convo in ep 2 and thats all.
anyways i didnt like the ending because a message that boils down to "suck it up, reality is good enough, dont throw it all away for your god gf again thats the best ending we prommy" is a real swing and a miss in year of our lord 2023. personally throwing it all away for a hot god gf is probably the most self care thing one could do.
thats the line the world of adventure time winds up drawing, that so many things are possible, but this isnt. idk it feels like a slap in the face to have a quick tropey gay romance threaded between a romance that has such a rich setup and history from season 5 get ripped apart from the second there was a "mistake" in their meet cute moment.
anyways sorry i just felt like it was a cheap ending that was very much up on its high horse when the issue that breaks up simon and betty was only really deliberately written in the past 4 episodes. of a romance arc that has lasted since season 5. if u really wanted to go there they couldve made different choices from episode 1 that wouldve left me agreeing that this is a good end, but right now it feels very unsatisfying.
the conclusion is just that betty had infinite power and decided she did not want simon by her side. sad and boring, just like real life!

Liveblog 5: many words much analysis
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
His favorite parenting technique: Bullshitting
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yet again, we have the tenets of Lou theorizing reiterated here by Kerubim and Simone, as well as this flashback:
She left sad, and unlike many other times, without any anger for Kerubim.
She left Luis with him to watch over him.
She also left Luis because he couldn't go with her, but that could mean many things.
She left after Ecaflip City, obviously, and at that time, their relationship seemed the healthiest. (Well, as healthy as it could be.)
Unlike all the other times, Kerubim didn't go searching for her. It seems this separation was final in a way no other was, and there had to be a reason that he didn't go and try to make up. An unsolvable issue.
Both Luis and Kerubim blame Kerubim, and the first one uses this to make the second one angry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Adieu, translated here as Farewell, is a word used for when you never expect to see one another ever again.
And sure, Luis really hated that. To the point of not allowing anyone to clean him ever again.
And yet...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's what I thought you'd say, you lying asshole. In this liveblog, so far, I had taken a stance against referencing future episodes, but I feel the need to pinpoint this now:
Aux Tresors De Kerubim is a show that will lie, cheat, and deceive you. A show that is incredibly transparent about being at least a little bit, but an in-universe fiction.
Kerubim Crepin is a man who has mastered the art of not really lying, but, more-so, fudging the situation. Usually for the better.
Tumblr media
And, as seen from this screenshot of the shop as it was two years before Joris was born, sometimes, for the worse.
Kerubim had many ways to solve his situation — convince Luis to let him clean once in a while via the use of psychic warfare, find a different house, or clean while Luis was sleeping, which Luis canonically does, like Kerubim will later do, after Simone is gone, because unlike her, he's not good at not pissing Luis off.
Or, perhaps, he could have continued doing whatever maintenance he was doing, during the time Atcham showed up and tried to boil him in a sauna. Because back then, Luis was allowing him to clean the house. Just food for thought!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even Luis doesn't really like the situation they're in.
So, letting himself and their home go, never trying to get them out of this situation, — are both his active failings as a parent, not something he passively went through.
There is absolutely no excusing the way he raised Joris.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So yeah. I will just have to make these two into soup.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The thing is, his lying doesn't come from malice at all.
Kerubim hates disappointing people or appearing weak, because, as we'll see, from his personal experience, relationships just don't end well if you present your authentic self without thinking, or just don't lie well enough. He will keep lying in even the most dire circumstances, because not being good enough is the worst sin he could partake in.
He doesn't really have a self-esteem, or a way to like himself, without outside validation, because of the sheer brainrotting trauma of his childhood and his relationship with Ecaflip. And it just so happens, that being a parent is having a little validation machine running around... As long as the child believes he is competent and an indisputable authority, that is.
Which Joris will, one day, realize, just isn't true.
(hint: before the end of Aux Tresors, but fully set in stone in the movie.)
.......yeah to end it on a funnier note, i really do think Kerubim Crepin shouldn't have been at the club.
he should have been getting therapy. he should have been doing inner child healing. he should have been researching coping mechanisms for cluster b personality disorders, of which he has 2. Imagine having a kid instead of therapy.
Tumblr media
Choosing beggar Keke!
Tumblr media
If they ever make a second Dofus movie via crowdfunding, I will enshrimpify myself. I think she would destroy Bakara's cringe teenager self. I think Bakara would be jealous of her and Joris's aunt-nephew relationship.
...Yeah I love Bakara and Simone a lot. How could you tell?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some canonical info on Luis's cleaning protocols.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Kerubim thinks things are going bad, it's "It'll be ok! Don't worry! We can make it!" When Kerubim is suffering through it, it's "I don't know. Don't ask me. I don't know. Probably. Not a good situation." But when Kerubim truly loses all hope, it's "THIS IS ALL MY FAULT, AND I FAILED YOU, AND I'M AWFUL, AND I'M NOTHING, and it's OVER, and we are going to DIE."
A very helpful thing to keep in mind, to see how distraught he is during various events.
Tumblr media
He's good at putting on a casual front while under stress, but it means that when he cracks, his fears burst out like an ocean and take him out of the commission entirely.
It's both a character flaw, and a strength of his, allowing him to not lose hope even at the worst times / help others not feel as distraught. We will see this in some significant, albeit very subtle, portrayals of his character in the Wakfu OVA, as well as the ease with which he takes control of dangerous situations.
Him being insecure and a liar never really changes, but he really does do it all out of love.
Tumblr media
One of the most significant lines of this show. It appears both in the second episode, and second-to last episode, expressing one of the main themes of the show: the uneven, often clumsy and painful, nature of love and family. From a chance meeting that doesn't go the best, like here, to, well... the way it's used later the second time.
Kerubim's musings on items in this scene introduce the other theme: Stagnation, progress, and memory. In his opinion, it is only natural for artefacts to pass through different hands, instead of being locked up in a vault. Yet, Kerubim himself is stuck in this shop, collecting dust, being a subpar parent to his son, and never moving on from a multitude of painful break-ups that happened decades ago.
Joris's recitation of his words introduces his, for now, unwavering belief in his papycha. Which makes Kerubim's insecure self feel very giddy and loved.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, Simone kicking them out promptly introduces the theme of her being literally the best.
Tumblr media
It must feel nice for Joris to see their home look good for the first time in his life. As sad as it is, I am very happy for him. The way he begins running around the house, looking at everything, while Kerubim is walking around in a literal daze, is just so adorable. Makes me even forget I want to make his dad into soup, for a little bit.
This brings us to a close with episode 2. Here's to more insane posts to come.

Hello, this is essentially my unfiltered, nonlinear thought process when trying to answer the question: Why is Prismo alerted when Cake leaves Simon's head? There are quite a few tangents, but typing this all out helped me understand the Adventure Time world greatly, and deleting parts of it after hours of research would make me too sad. I hope it can be helpful and interesting to other people as well. Warning: it is quite long.
THE BEAM
What sparked this entire post was when I saw someone comment on the fact that in season 9 episode 12 Fionna and Cake and Fionna, it’s shown that Ice King didn’t naturally come up with the concept of Fionna and Cake. Their adventures are beamed into his head while he’s asleep. While we have no idea what the beam is and if anyone is behind it or not, it does have a few implications for the new series.
The first thing that came to me was the idea that a version (the original version) of Fionna and Cake DO exist in their own dimension in the multiverse. There’s no reason not to assume this.
Now, what if The Crown acts as a sort of antenna and can receive multidimensional-signals due to its structure. The center gem of the crown (the one that also supplies the wearer with magical powers) is one of the 9 gems used to power the enchiridion. As we all know, the enchiridion has the power to create wormholes between dimensions. Perhaps this connection with the Enchiridion gives it this innate ability. (and, if I remember correctly, that would’ve been its original use, before becoming a monster’s eye and then part of the crown)
If this were true, what would that mean for OUR Fionna and Cake? Are they true real beings with their own dimension? Or are they in some sort of pocket dimension? Our Fionna and Cake are clearly different characters than Fionna and Cake prime. Their world exists entirely inside of Simon’s mind. In Adventure Time, There are these spaces called Imagination Zones. Typically, Imagination Zones act as spaces only 1 person can access, and the zone is a manifestation of their psyche. If they were to imagine say, a giant fish with wings, it would appear in this zone. If Fionna and Cake are anywhere, it seems very safe to assume they live somewhere in Simon's Imagination Zone.
THE IMAGINATION ZONE
To get to the bottom of whether or not Imagination Zones, and thus Fionna and Cake's world, exist as a fully fledged dimension, we need to analyze Cake’s crossing over.
Simon, when trying to contact Golbetty (as I’ll be referring to this being from now on) used multiple powerful artifacts to do so, the most notable one being the enchiridion. This would suggest a creation of a wormhole was required to allow Golbetty to enter this world, or for Simon to enter Golbetty’s space. But, perhaps due to the the ritual being cut short, the hole created opened a momentary wormhole between the Fionna and Cake world and Simon’s (the Earth Dimension, which is the dimension Ooo is located in. Most of the show takes place in this dimension). Notice how when she crosses over, its through Simon’s head. While this is to be expected of a being that exists in another being’s mind, it also reminiscent of other spaces in the adventure time world. Notably: Lumpy Space.
Now, Lumpy Space are clearly very connected to the Earth Dimension. Lps travels to Ooo all the time, and while bringing outsiders into Lumpy Space is looked down upon, it’s not physically impossible, as we’ve seen in season one episode two, Trouble in Lumpy Space. Clearly, it is not uncommon for different dimensions to sync frequencies and connect (explained later in this post)
While a bit of a tangent, I believe its worth noting that these dimensions tend to be less complex and/or expansive than Ooo. Lumpy Space being comprised mainly of the anti element “Lump” the Crystal Dimension (the dimension Lady Rainicorn is from) of crystal, and the Pillow World of pillow, illustrates this. Lumpy Space also doesn’t have a proper ground, and is multiple clouds of lumps collected together.
With Lumpy Space, there is an actual living being (a frog) that acts as a bridge between the dimension and the prime universe. So, Simon becoming a bridge between his Imagination Zone and the prime universe isn’t that far fetched.
If we analyze other Imagination Zones, something interesting emerges. While they typically do not sync with Ooo and allow for cross over, there are some exceptions. For example, in season 1 episode 23 Rainy Day Daydream Finn is able to experience a knife storm, lava, and more from Jake's Imagination Zone. While Finn was unable to see any of it, he could feel them, suggesting there was some sort of connection. However, there was something limiting the amount of contact possible. This could be explained by the frequencies between the main dimension in Jake's Imagination Zone and the Earth Dimension not fully syncing.
THE SYNCING OF DIMENSIONS
Here is an exert from the Adventure Time Chronology
The physics behind the concept of the Multiverse is somewhat explained in chapter four of the Wizards' Enchiridion, albeit in a very hand-wavy pseudo-scientific way. To prevent all of the dimensions from catastrophically colliding with one another, all particles in a specific dimension have their own unique "frequency". Particles with different frequencies reside in different dimensions. Adjusting this frequency allows for interdimensional travel.
So, perhaps Jake's Imagination Zone's frequency was approaching Ooo's, but they did not quite match.
But here’s where things get a little hairy: if Fionna and Cake are merely from just another dimension, why then, is Prismo alerted to Cake’s arrival to Ooo when its clearly established that interdimensional travel (under normal circumstances) isn't something to be worried about. I have a few theories
THEORY ONE
The original Fionna and Cake's dimension was destroyed (presumedly by Golb). Perhaps the beam of light that Ice King was receiving was somehow transporting the living beings that existed in that dimension into Ice King's mostly vacant Imagination Zone. The beam of light from Fionna and Cake and Fionna was red. This color is associated with both Golb and Grob Gob Glob Grod, two powerful cosmic entities, perhaps suggesting the beam of light was coming from one of them or a related being. We see in the trailer an unnamed red being that looks similar to both of them who's job it is to get rid of Fionna and Cake. Perhaps there is a group of powerful beings who follow these similar motifs in design. Maybe this mysterious being works under Golb, and is seeking to finish the job. He could be a "Scholar of Golb" something the Lich refers to himself as in Season 9 Episode 13 (although he claims he is the last Scholar of Golb). This is the weaker theory in my opinion.
THEORY TWO
Imagination Zones are not merely other dimensions. I believe they can be thought of as smaller, weaker, multiverses. Why do I believe that?
Firstly, it is canon that the prime multiverse takes place in the dreams of the primordials. I personally do not find it much of a stretch to imagine that if multiverse=dream, then a dream that takes place within this dream would=a smaller, weaker multiverse.
Secondly, we have already seen Ice King/Simon's Imagination Zone. We didn't see the entire society of Fionna and Cake that we saw this series. This actually isn't the first time we've seen an entire different dimension existing within someone's Imagination Zone. May I direct you to the season 5 episode 16 Puhoy.
PILLOW WORLD
Puhoy is an episode that is very open to interpretation. As a little refresher: When Finn got dumped by Flame Princess, he got very sad and essentially buried himself deeper and deeper into a pillow fort he created. He eventually found a one way door that lead to a Pillow World. Time in Pillow World went by much faster than it does in Ooo. In a few minutes Ooo time, Finn had spent an entire lifetime in Pillow World. He died of old age, and passed by Golb on his way back to the Earth dimension. Two prevailing interpretations are that 1. Pillow World is a dimension that Finn's frequency briefly synced up with and was able to cross into. 2. Pillow World was a dream. Theory 1 is most prevalent now due to the aforementioned run in with Golb. Theory 2 is also plausible as it explains the time dilation. Finn experienced all of this after being very sad and burying himself in pillows and blankets.
What makes the episode so controversial is the fact that Finn dies on screen in Pillow World and wakes up in the Earth Dimension fine, forgetting everything he had just experienced. I've seen some people suggest that perhaps Finn traded Golb his memory of the Pillow World for his life back in Ooo, but we do not see any evidence of this in the show.
I am going to suggest this alternate theory: Pillow World is/was a dimension in Finn's imagination zone (perhaps created via dreaming). As he was just in an Imagination Zone, his physical body still existed in the Earth Dimension the entire time. So when he "died" in the Imagination Zone, his soul/projection/etc could still be returned to his physical body. And due to the nature of his death being of old age, he would not die. As to why he cannot remember Pillow World for more than a mere second, when he passes through the space between the physical and metaphysical (where Golb resides) Golb heads towards where he came from to destroy that dimension, as Golb does.
IN CONCLUSION
How does this support the idea that Imagination Zones act as small multiverses? Well, we've already seen a dimension in Finn's Imagination Zone in Rainy Day Daydream. It is reminiscent of what we've seen from Ice King and Jake's. If Pillow World truly was another dimension within Finn's Imagination Zone, that is two examples of Imagination Zones with multiple dimensions.
IN FACT, the multiverse takes place in the dreams of the primordials, so perhaps every single character's Imagination Zone is a dimension within a larger multiverse.
What does this mean for the question at hand? Well, to put it simply: perhaps interdimensional travel is not concerning, but intermultiversal travel is for unknown reasons.
THEORY 2.5
Perhaps Imagination Zones are not separate multiverses, but their own unique space. In that case, travel out of an Imagination Zone could potentially be dangerous just by definition.
Well, thank you so much for reading. I would love to hear others thoughts and have a discussion on these topics :)

Ok I see ppl on Tumblr talking Abt how much they liked the final episodes but honestly I was severely underwhelmed by the fionna and cake ending. If you don't want to see me just list out everything I like and dislike and why according to my arbitrary personal preferences scroll now.
The second half of the fight with scabby was meh and repetitive. At least the gumlee was cute. Fionna is still the bestest even if her final fight kinda sucked. I love her dearly and I hope she is living her best life.
The lack of Ooo Marceline in the end was literally so disappointing too I wish we could've seen her again at SOME point.
And just in general the ending felt really rushed, I feel like if they had some more episodes to work with it would've been a lot smoother.
Simons pov was just so severely underwhelming, it just felt like filler to me.
I literally didn't care if it was going to be happy or sad ending for Simon as long as it made me feel things like the last couple of episodes did but it just felt totally flat. It didn't really feel like an ending at all. I wouldn't even mind the breakup angle they took under normal circumstances if it wasn't for the fact he like. Literally spent 12 years basically being in a constant mental breakdown, and a thousand years before that subconsciously searching for her, and her literally driving herself to insanity and becoming golb to keep him safe, but wow suddenly everything's chill cuz he played a video game. Ok. Simon just realized that whoops he didn't always take Betty's feelings into account and they parted ways.
And I will repeat: I DO NOT MIND THE BREAK UP ANGLE. IT MAKES SENSE OBJECTIVELY. HOWEVER. IT FEELS LIKE THERE WAS LIKE. TWO MINUTES OF THOUGHT PUT INTO IT. DEFINITELY NOT SUPER HEARTSTRINGS PULLING TO ME. DO NOT GET IN MY COMMENTS BEING WELL ACTKULLY THIS IS JUST ME COMPLAINING ABOUT CARTOONS.
I liked the golbetty in the bus and the golbetty statue. I could bs something about them going their separate ways on a journey the other can't go on and insert trigun quote here about how the ticket to the future is always blank but I just really like golbetty. She's great shes monsterous she's perfect.
Just in general Simon and Betty felt off to me during the final episodes, I can't really put my finger on it but they just felt weird. I'm sure Betty's been doing a lot of thinking in the void and all but it still fell to the left of them I think. The whole time I was watching I was just like. Hm.
Edit: got it. Betty has always been wanting to keep Simon thinking about her. Always. With AI Betty head she flat out said "I knew it would drive you crazy but at least you'd always be thinking about me" and it's like a core thing she does stuff for the Dramatics. While you can argue she's been doing a lot of thinking in the void and matured because of it she's also been a goddess of CHAOS. If anything she's gonna go more loony rather than more mature.
Not to sound like a doomed crazy yuri enthusiast but there are literally no normal or healthy actions you can take after literally becoming a god for someone.
Maybe I'm just too committed to the bit but I'm a solid believer that if you start a weird fucked up path you gotta end on a weird fucked up note. Although the severe disappointment of nothing happening is probably the most fucked up thing they could do to me.
Ik it's supposed to be some sometimes life doesn't give you a tidy ending stuff but also this is fiction I get enough fuck yous like this from reality and ignored job applications I want my fuck yous from fiction to be not sadly vague. Or at least better written.
At least Simon's in therapy. About time.
And the little emoticons he's using in his phone. :)
Tumblr media
Do feel free to put your own opinions in on whether you liked or disliked the ending just play nice 🤙

This was one of the funniest episodes of the entire season (maybe even the entire series) but it also left me feeling so genuinely sad for Laszlo.
I keep thinking about how much he actually loved this show and the “stars” of it. The way he knew all the lines from the show. The way he memorized even their ad spiels. The way he internalized their design advice. The way he wanted to be one of the brothers.
This becomes pretty clear pretty quickly, and so does the fact that Laszlo has always liked Bran more than Toby. He’s genuinely delighted to see Bran in his foyer and doesn’t seem to give much of a fuck when he sees his lady wife eating Toby. In fact, the first thing he says is that he eventually noticed how very different Bran and Toby were, which implies that he probably has a favorite. (Judging by his response to Toby’s death... I think Toby was Not Favorite.)
He then steals Toby’s clothing and starts to try and insinuate himself in Bran’s life. He starts using the in-jokes the brothers usually share, he starts trying to share his interests with Bran -- hell, that weird little “yeah, fuck Toby!” really feels like him trying to tear Toby down so Bran will choose him instead. He’s not just a fan at this point; he’s trying to literally replace Toby in both the show and Bran’s life.
And at first, I thought that Laszlo just wanted to fuck Bran? But no, I really do think that he wanted to become one of the brothers, specifically Bran’s brother. He wanted family and companionship, not necessarily a quick fuck.
What makes all this worse is that... like... Bran really did seem to share a lot of Laszlo’s interests. Bran’s really into landscaping, which is a close cousin to Laszlo’s topiaries. Bran knew exactly what movie Laszlo was talking about before he finished saying it because they both love it. They both have similar design taste (the poofs!) and uhhhh sartorial desires.
Laszlo is a true super-fan, and it seems to be something he genuinely loved. Bran especially seemed to be someone he genuinely loved. When Simon first revealed himself, his first response was to demand what he’d done with the real Bran, even!
And then he finds out it was all a lie. The show itself was a lie. Bran never existed. All these things that Laszlo had emotionally connected to were not just fake, but were a plot specifically designed to steal something precious from him.
The sad thing is... I think Simon really did steal something precious from him. It wasn’t the hat, though. It was this love that he had for this show and the people in it, for the hobby he’d just learned that he actually really liked. It was the somewhat parasocial relationship that Laszlo had built up in his mind.
I think learning that Go Flip Yourself and Bran specifically weren’t real really felt like a loss for Laszlo. Like someone he loved had died or something. (Toby... aside.) I think that’s why he didn’t even try to go after Simon. I think that’s why he let him take the hat. I think that’s why he sounded so goddamn defeated at the end. (“What are you doing, you got what you want!”)
The hat was tainted. Bran/Simon was tainted. Something that Laszlo truly loved was tainted. Laszlo wasn’t so much mad at the end of the episode... he was sad, and that may be worse. I think that Simon the Devious’s revenge worked far better than he’d planned.
I think the saddest thing about all this is that this episode showed that Laszlo and Simon probably could have been genuine friends if not for the hat. They have so many similar hobbies. They love so many of the same things. They seemed to get along so well.
I think Go Flip Yourself sparked something new and genuine and dear in both of them. Like... Simon kept making the show even after getting the hat. Why do that if he didn’t love it? And he seemed like he was actually fairly touched when he found out that Laszlo was a true fan, even if by then Laszlo mostly just felt wounded over the situation.
idk, I’m just kind of sad. I want Simon and Laszlo to get over their differences and build a tiny house together or something. They can both work on the landscaping. :’)

Young Royals S3 thoughts
EP3
The queen saying it’s all exaggerated and she’s fine, and then immediately breaking down again… not a good sign. Willeeeeeeeee
Wille holding his knees in the fountain with the credits over it in light purple - poetic cinema. But also, aaaaahhhhhh!!!
„Why did you think I didn’t tell you anything?“ - Yes, Simon, please tell her. I really really want you guys to work this out
Those graduation caps look ridiculous
I’m sorry but every time Vincent opens his mouth I want to tell him to shut up. This man annoys me so so much.
Simon looks so rough, like he hardly slept. I fucking hate everyone who makes him feel that way.
@bjarsta.andreas who the fuck are you and what is you fucking problem.
I hate it when they both don’t listen to each other, when they’re so wrapped up in their own problems they don’t see that the other one needs them right now.
It feels a little bit as if Simon realizes for the first time what Wille is going through every day and what he is taking on now.
„All I want is to be with you.“ Phew…
Those girls mock singing Simon’s song can fuck right off. YOU are embarrassing!
Boris & August wheheeee :) I’m glad they’re getting a kind of reconciliation
Simon turns down Pabellón. This is wrong, this is all wrong. Someone give my boy a hug and help him!!!
Is it bad that I think August is handling the situation really well? Like, he’s really trying…!
„Are you involved? … Of course you’re involved.“ - Wille, please, you don’t know what happened. You’re being unfair right now. But then again, if I were him, I’d probably think the same about August.
Siiiimooooooooon….! I’m so so sorry, you don’t deserve this… aaahhhhhhh I can’t handle seeing you crying like this…
Cheeky make out session in the music room :))) they’re trying to trick me into thinking it’s all fine and then they’ll fight in there again. I don’t trust you!
But also love them smacking their lips and acting all innocent when they’ve been caught :) „You two keep rehearsing…“ hahahahaaa
VINCENT HONESTLY YOU NEED TO JUST SHUT UP AND LEAVE SIMON ALONE! Why is Wille not standing up for Simon here?
I feel like Felice is not getting enough screen time. And something tells me she will not just hush everything up but speak her mind! You go, girl!
I feel like Wille could check in on Felice a little bit more. And she on him. He shouldn’t lean only on Simon, he needs his friends too!
Sara laughing and smiling with her dad in the car. Healing. This makes my heart happy.
I bet August thinks he’ll go and sweep Sara off her feet like Prince Charming. Even taking the bus, wow wow… I can already tell you it’s not going to work…
The way her face falls as soon as she sees him….
„August Horn of Årnäs“ - „Micke Eriksson of Bjärstadt“ hahahaaaaaa this will never not be funny
„Better to have a dad with bad episodes than no dad at all“. Ouch, that hurt.
Surprise, surprise, it didn’t work. But also, it’s good that you’re apologizing and showing that you want to make amends, but you’re only talking about yourself! Have you ever thought about asking Sara how she is, or what she thinks and wants?
Sad August is making me sad. What is the world coming to?
The. Baking. Scene. fljkh esPOUFRHQasd mknöwejfnb lhbsdyxkjvcnpq wjbfeasdyx
Not Sara zooming in on the first picture in weeks in which Felice is smiling. They need to taaaaalk!
I feel like Micke deserves some credit for his parenting this season. He is actually doing a decent job at supporting Sara. Just really hope it doesn’t go downhill.
Wille singing is hilarious :))
That song they play when the torch procession comes is a vibe though :)
„You can just stand there and feel things and be open and vulnerable.“ - „Yeah but I wasn’t this time. It’s getting harder to stay relaxed when I sing. It’s not as much fun anymore.“ - I am broken. Simon losing the joy in singing. That is the saddest thing I’ve ever heard.
Sara is so brave for going there. I would have run away before anyone could have seen me.
That kiss by the window in the candlelight is gorgeous.
I love the music over that whole sequence. And the ‚I love you’s at the end. Can we please just pause this here? I don’t need any of the drama, I just want them to be able to stay happy forever.
Ohhhh nooo, Micke! I don’t know if I believe him or not. Please don’t let Sara down again.
„Erik could never have done that to me.“ Oh Wille, you don’t know. You don’t know what he did. And part of me hopes you’ll never find out.
„So how can I ever trust anyone?“ - „You can trust me.“ - This is going to go wrong, I can feel it.
Simon wrapping himself in his purple hoodie. And a woman with purple hair coming up to him with her son. Alt er love.
I really really want Simon to take that picture so that he can feel that people appreciate him. But also, don’t post it on instagram!!! This will only lead to problems. Pleeeeaasseee.
Maybe it would be better if Farima talked to Simon…? Then Wille wouldn’t have to constantly police his boyfriend like that.
Oh no. Oh no. Oh noooooooooooo!!!! Siiiimmoooooooon!!!!
Uuuughhh, whenever this show gives you like a crumb of happiness, it takes it away just as fast. Like Simon was just starting to feel a little better about the online hate and their position in the world, and then - snap - someone throws a stone at his house. He just wants to be safe and be with his boyfriend. Why does the world have to be so cruel?

Ok yay another round of first impressions!!! Again, spoilers for Fionna and cake below the cut! (Episodes 5 and 6)
Episode one:
- I became more invested in this episode the further it went, I ended up liking it a lot!
- farmworld society is real neat. I like how ice Finn became some demonic figure to everyone
- FINN GKT KIDS
- I liked the character if the main Finn kid (forget his name already damnnn)
- the forbidden romance was funny, but they left that universe so quickly, I want to know what happens!!
- Simon curses
- what thr hell is up with the pink goop
- Farm Finn mentions his wife is dead (CMONNN). Not sure exactly who she could be, but I’m guessing farm huntress wizard, based off of a few of the kids designs. Specifically the one with ginger hair and green eyes. The soup thing is interesting too
- OH MY GOD THE OLD JAKE IS SO ADORABLE GRAHHHHHH
- and I love that Cake actually likes him like aughhhhh
- (this is hurting my soul)
- most important note: THERE WAS A CHICKEN FOR A SPLIT SECOND I WIN AUTOMATICALLY
Overall solid episode!
Episode two:
- yeah I know what’s gonna happen. Tumblr prepare yourself
- wait I forgot about the yaoi subplot haha
- anyways time to see photos of half naked Marshall everywhere for a week now too
- ok real meat: winter king. He’s a lot more cunty than I thought. The song and animation was gorgeous!!
- why did they draw his crotch like that. WHAT cmon I can’t be the only one. It’s so… well defined. Anyways
- the whimsical gunters were perfect. Especially the fairy
- the ice Marcy??? What??
- FUCKING. CAKE. SAYING WINTER KING AND SIMON SHOULD MAKE OUT AT THR END KF THE SONG. like damnnnn she is freaky. That would have been quite something though
- oh god. Wait, is this gonna be the oncest thingy now..? Fandom wise… cake you’ve doomed us all!!
- ahem
- oh yeah bubbaline! (Garylee..?) it was a very cute montage!! And I like Gary’s candy kingdom esque idea for his bakery.
- MORE LEMONFEMS (Lemoncarb?? I don’t know how to spell it)
- idk about you guys but I like them. Well, I don’t like how they did Gary. But still. Very good
- ok back to fionna
- yes!! Candy… queen! (The name to no one’s surprise haha) she pretty much was exactly what I expected. I love her
- her song was also great!!
- unfortunately I guess her existence is short lived lol
- won’t stop me… with the power of fanart!
- I like the scene where she rolls off the bed
- yeah at this point I was sort of suspicious of winter guy
- lobotomy… thr best remedy…
- the way winter king just lets Fionna embrace him right in front of actual Simon is fucking crazy haha. I’m sure cake was loving it
- THE HE
- WHAT THR HELL
- well, the team handles trauma together….
- interesting, this universes pb is like, exactly the same haha.
- oh yeah, Fionna ain’t straight at all. You saw how she reacted when pb caressed her
- oh yeah final winter king impressions: I hate him
- also the fact he acknowledged Betty died and couldn’t give a shit. Fuck him forever
- csnt lie I’m a little sad it’s not a direct swap universe like my little theory. But ofc that’s not a problem at all, just me predicting stuff wrong
- not letting that go tho. Passionpeachy I won’t fail you. Doomed yuri is always the answer
Ok that’s pretty much it!!! Overall I really enjoyed these episodes, and I’m gonna have a good time seeing everyone else react to them :3 but now I get some sleep. I got school tomorrow
