As a language & astrology nerd, I can't get over the fact that Astarion Ancunin's full name means 'star rabbit' in Latin.

(Latin: astrum = star, astra = stars, Latin: cuniculus = rabbit, Friulian: cunin = rabbit)

That's why I totally dig the star constellation ship name for Astarion x Halsin. They're both associated with star signs (little bear/little dipper & Lepus/hare).

Also, side note: Halsin stems from the Old-Germanic words 'hel'/'hal' = 'hide' OR 'hell' = 'bright' & 'sin' = 'always'/'all-encompassing'/'constant'.

Thus, Halsin basically means 'constant brightness' or 'always hidden'.

Which is really cool in regards to Astarion.

If the name's interpretation is 'always hidden', it fits nicely with the rabbit's stereotypical behaviour of running away & hiding. Thus, Halsin's Astarion's safe space.

If the name's interpretation is 'constant brightness/light', again, it fits with the star theme - and also the fact that Astarion's a vampire and burns in the sun but can bathe in the light of the moon & stars. Thus, Halsin's Astarion's light (therefore symbolically hope) in the darkness.

Story: Battle strategy cards;‘Stellar Charm’ One Tree Hill

One Tree Hill

‘Angel Casablancas’ and their twin sister ‘Cassidy Casablancas’ are the reigning ‘Stellar Charm Card’ champions of the city. Why? From all the students and inhabitants of the city ‘One Tree Hill’ named after the ominous forest from which the entire town surrounds, the mythos and legends surrounding the condemned huaunted forest and tree upon the top of the highest mountain in the city seems to share a grim tale about a series of suicide that concerned the towns ever budding congregation that used to meet weekly for church gatherings at the foot of the ominous tree at the very top of the ecclesiastical tree, now condemned the fellowship now meets else where disbanded and scattered after the horrific events that were the result of students jumping from the top of the building, tree and mountain falling to the their deaths at the bottom of the city beneath the mountain. Walled off and forbidden territory as the signs and gates proclaim on the walls of the forbidden forest students constantly enter in hopes of finding the lost cards of a popular card game that once reigned within the town. ‘Stellar charm cards was a game of unique personal skill and talents that required one to sing, dance and use personal talents to summon your cards constellations the power from which the cards drew from. Unbeknownst to some of the students and card users, some had more than others and the more you possessed the more powerful you were compared to some who only possed two if only even one. The losers of these card games tragically forced if not pushed to end their lives from jumping to their doom amused the congregation leader who sought posses and collect all the cards. But the two twins, secretly would go from card user to card user in private consoling them and confiding within them in order to collect their card in secret, then adding their card to their book of protection, thereby spearing that student or card user from having to suicide. If one didn’t run the Forest deadly maze a deadly obstacle course of doom and make it out alive then there was no way for one to enter the condemned forest in hopes of connecting with one of the ‘stellar sacred tree’s’ one would find in hopes of connecting their soul with a sacred trees constellation of power. Thus, how the card game was born from the now candy factory that would harvest the strange fruits the trees would produce in order to create their sacred foods the town would consume in order to bring forth the unknown power within them.

Finally homestuck oc posting! I’ve delayed this post for a while because I couldn’t figure out how to explain their lore, so I’m just gonna rip off the band-aid and do it now.

Important to know: this story is set in like, troll biblical times (???) so ancient alternia when the sufferer was still around.

Kij Lepus: Burgundy, lepus (the rabbit) constellation. Due to Kij having a short lifespan and being lowest in the pecking order, the hounds Maera and Laelaps are tasked with eventually hunting him down and killing him to prove their strength. Kij is more than up to the challenge of surviving, though, because he’s a skilled and mischievious puzzle master. His red shoes leave marks on the ground, and by dancing he paints riddles and clues to leave for the hounds. He’s part of the rebellion, and isn’t accepted in troll society. S o m e t i m e s h e t a l k s slowly and sometimesveryfast.

Meve Ursa: Bronze, ursa major (the great bear) constellation. Meve used to be a soldier. However, she’s been accused of eating two of her comrades and is now on the run from the authorities. No one knows if Meve actually commited the gruesome crime or if she was framed, because she likes threatening people as a joke. She has a talent in hiding, and she and Kij are good friends because they’re both hiding from people. (She speaks in parenthases- even her words are hidden.)

Maera and Laelaps Canis: Gold, canis minor and canis major (the small hound and the great hound) constellations. Maera and Laelaps are an interesting case- instead of each holding the dual power that most gold bloods are blessed with, one of the twins holds either side of the power. Maera harnesses her blue energy in her electric lasso, and Laelaps harnesses her red energy in her jaw, which turns into a deadly beam in combat. Due to them splitting the power between them, the twins are convinced that they’re different parts of the same consciousness in two bodies. They are bounty hunters, and they take their jobs very seriously. They work for Ahab Orion, the sheriff, and power his ship, but they seem to do most of the work for him. Maybe if they could catch that damn rabbit they could prove they’re more suited to a leadership role, but hopeful thinking won’t get you far on alternia.

Echo Lyra: Jade, lyra (the harp) constellation. Lyra used to be a popular entertainer for the high court, but one day her audience got bored of her and instead clamoured for her public dismemberment. She was able to flee the scene and joined the rebellion, but the subjugglators still torment her with visions. Thankfully she keeps up the lively spirit of a hostess despite her struggles. Because she’s the only caste that lives exposed to sunlight, she has a special connection to plants, and adorns her harp with them.

Ahab Orion: Teal, orion constellation. Ahab is the cocky sheriff tasked with capturing the rebels and bringing them to justice. He’s also the boss of the hounds. Although trolls of his caste are supposed to be brilliant investigators, Ahab takes advantage of this ability and doesn’t treat his title with much respect. He’s much more talented at socializing and being charming, which often leads to him getting sidetracked or taking bribes. Since he’s a free spirit who only has his postition because of his caste, the hounds do most of his job for him, mostly Maera. Despite his smooth-tounged ways, he’s a little bit obsessed with Caduce and would do anything for his approval.

Tressa Columba: Cobalt, columba (the dove) constellation. Tressa is an interesting case. They’re a mutant, and have wings instead of arms. They would have been slaughtered if they hadn’t proved their talent as a messanger. Because of their wings, they’re able to send messages from land to sky to sea, and are employed by the highbloods. They threw their life into their job, because they wouldn’t have a life without it, and therefore didn’t question the ways of the empire before they got kidnapped by Meve and Kij and later experimented on by Caduce.

Caduce Ophiucus: Caduce is a highblood, and his role is that of the royal doctor. He’s in charge of all research that goes into the troll species, and his ways don’t have to be above code when he’s the one who dictates the code. He’s the mysterious mastermind, watching the bounty hunters chase the rebels like rats through a maze. He’s very interested in mutations, and while Tressa thought she could trust him at first, his ways were soon revealed to be nefarious.

I was watching Doctor Who today and I realized that one ship dynamic that sends me absolutely feral is Unnecessary Whispering.

Y’all don’t need to whisper!  No one is listening to you!  But they do it psychically even when they’re not doing it physically.  Every single conversation is a continuation of a dialogue that’s happening on a level no one else can perceive, or at least that they don’t acknowledge other people can perceive.  They do it with their eyes and their bodies and everyone can see them cutting everyone else out of the conversation because the only people they really want to talk to are each other.  It’s not always healthy but it’s very sexy to me personally.

I think @mashnotesofthemythopoeic​ always gets this, and so do @lepus-arcticus​ and @onpaperfirst​ and @broadcastnews1987​.

Sprawling

This is when a rabbit is laying down on their side or belly, but is not completely flopped over. This is exactly what it looks like, your rabbit is getting comfortable. Sometimes they’ll even put their head down on their paws and look super cute while they sleep.

Like flopping, sprawling is a good indication that your rabbit trusts you. Basically any point when your rabbits back feet aren’t solidly on the ground, it means your rabbit feels safe. A rabbit’s best defense is their ability to run away. LEPUS YOU GOT MY BACK ILY <3

i'm still mad peasley only ever got an appearance in one game in the franchise. he's definitely my favourite character so far in the mario & luigi series, and in the short time he and luigi spent together i think they really blossomed something special. like, the very first time they meet peasley gives luigi a white rose saying it compliments his green quite well (white roses apparently symbolise love, affection and loyalty according to the first result i got when i googled their symbolism so i have a reliable source y'see). there's also a scene where luigi's parachuting through the sky and peasley flies on his steed to receive something from him, but when luigi gives it to him a bird comes by and pecks his parachute loose and he starts free-falling and peasley's reaction is to immediately fly under him in an attempt to catch him despite being on a very unsteady steed. when luigi finds out peasley's going on a dangerous mission which could bring harm to him, he starts crying. then right at the end of the game as mario, luigi and peach are preparing to fly home and peasley comes to see them off, luigi runs to hug him. peasley -- whether unintentionally or teasingly -- flies up out of the way and luigi starts fuckin crying again. like they cared so much about each other and had each other's backs and i am still stomping my feet about the fact that they didn't have a goodbye hug it sucked!!!!!! why would the game not give them a goodbye hug then just never give peasley another game appearance???? >:(((

i really like them they had a really good dynamic that's been expanded on in marvellous fan works such as tangled thicket, a marvellous fanfic in progress by snugglyrabbits on ao3 like they are so fucjing cute in that wjdjgjgk but god does the author also know how to wrench your beating heart out of your chest and smash it against a wall repeatedly

(also the edited "i ship them i want to put them in a jar and study them" is cause there was a scene where peasley was prodding luigi's ass with his sword and luigi started blushing they're so fucking weird they mean so much to me)

I like the information on the celestial realm. Seems interesting especially the place for the constellations 😁 (can't wait for the comic 😍). But, do each group has a leader? For example is Herakles the leader of his constellation group? 🤔🤔

Yes and No. I refer to the ones that live together as 'houses'. Not families. The ones that do not live together are referred to as nothing since there is nothing. However, in Astronomy, the constellations are divided into groups and referred to as families according to Menzel's list (an astronomer). In my story, the ones that are not in a "house", don't refer to themselves as families since they don't live together or are family. This is more of a human concept and ideal like in real life.

Zodiac House- Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpius, Sagittarius, Capricornus, Aquarius, Pisces. Leo is the leader.

Perseus Family- Cassiopeia, Cetus, Andromeda, Perseus, Pegasus, and Cetus (a monster sent to devour Andromeda). Auriga, Lacerta, and Triangulum were also included in Menzel's list. This constellation family do not all live together and thus there is no leader.

Hercules Family- Hercules, Sagitta, Aquila, Lyra, Cygnus, Vulpecula, Hydra, Sextans, Crater, Corvus, Ophiuchus, Serpens, Scutum, Centaurus, Lupus, Corona Australis, Ara, Triangulum Australe, and Crux. This constellation family do not all live together and thus there is no leader.

Orion House- Orion, Canis Major, Canis Minor, Lepus, and Monoceros, located opposite Hercules. Based on Greek mythology, this constellation group shows Orion the hunter, and his two dogs chasing the hare (Lepus). For completeness, Menzel added the unicorn (Monoceros). Orion is the leader. Monoceros does not live with them.

Ursa Major House- The Ursa Major Family includes 10 northern constellations in the vicinity of Ursa Major: Ursa Major itself, Ursa Minor, Draco, Canes Venatici, Boötes, Coma Berenices, Corona Borealis, Camelopardalis, Lynx, and Leo Minor. The eponymous constellation Ursa Major contains the famous Big Dipper. Ursa Major is the leader. However, Bootes does not live with them and Leo minor is missing.

Heavenly Waters House- The Heavenly Waters draw from the Mesopotamian tradition associating the dim area between Sagittarius and Orion with the god Ea and the Waters of the Abyss. Aquarius and Capricornus, derived from Mesopotamian constellations, would have been natural members had they not already been assigned to the Zodiac group. Instead, Menzel expanded the area and included several disparate constellations, most associated with water in some form: Delphinus, Equuleus, Eridanus, Piscis Austrinus, Carina, Puppis, Vela, Pyxis, and Columba. Carina, Puppis, and Vela historically formed part of the former constellation Argo Navis, which in Greek tradition represented the ship of Jason. Eridanus is the leader

Bayer Family- The Bayer Family collects several southern constellations first introduced by Petrus Plancius on several celestial globes in the late 16th century, based on astronomical observations by the Dutch explorers Pieter Dirkszoon Keyser and Frederick de Houtman. The constellations were primarily named for exotic animals reported in the travel journals of that period and were copied in Johann Bayer's influential celestial atlas Uranometria in 1603. The group includes Hydrus, Dorado, Volans, Apus, Pavo, Grus, Phoenix, Tucana, Indus, Chamaeleon, and Musca. Bayer labeled Musca as "Apis" (the Bee), but over time it was renamed. The Bayer Family circles the south celestial pole, forming an irregular contiguous band. Because these constellations are located in the far southern sky, their stars were not visible to the ancient Greeks and Romans. This constellation family do not all live together and thus there is no leader.

La Caille Family- The La Caille Family comprises 12 of the 13 constellations introduced by Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille in 1756 to represent scientific instruments, together with Mensa, which commemorates Table Mountain ("Mons Mensa") in South Africa, where he set up his telescope. The group includes Norma, Circinus, Telescopium, Microscopium, Sculptor, Fornax, Caelum, Horologium, Octans, Mensa, Reticulum, Pictor, and Antlia. These dim constellations are scattered throughout the far southern sky, and their stars were mostly not visible to the ancient Greeks and Romans. (Menzel assigned Pyxis, the remaining Lacaille instrument, to the Heavenly Waters group.) This constellation family do not all live together and thus there is no leader.
