The Princess and Her Dragons
Chapter 14: Hot and Jealous Shin-ah
Pairing: Shin-ah x Reader
Warnings: explicit smut, jealous sex, exhibitionism (slight), fingering, biting, size kink, cursing.
*requested by anon*
As Shin-ah gets more acquainted in the palace, his new home, he adjusts to almost everything except how you get called away on every occasion that your father needs you to take care of guests. But when someone had the audacity to lay a hand on you, all he sees is red.

Tumblr media
Storming off into the luscious gardens, you barely even noticed the relaxing breeze that normally set you at ease, too caught up in your own frustration to notice the vibrant colors of the flowers and the soft blades of grass underneath your feet.
Groaning loudly in exasperation, you rounded a corner to the pagoda, throwing your hands up and screaming in the empty grounds as the yell ricocheted off of the stone walls of Hiryuu Castle.
You were so done with men.
At least, the ones who weren’t yours.
Huffing, you pouted to yourself and plopped down on the bench, needing to cool off before you went back.
These airhead nobles hadn’t stopped talking to you, preventing you from going back to your room and you were rapidly growing sick of playing nice. Why did your father insist on you entertaining them?
A clatter followed by a crash caught all of your attention and your head snapped up to see none other than the blue dragon.
“Shin-ah?” You called out curiously, a hint of relief painting your tone as you brushed off your skirts and stood up bashfully. “I was just—”
Your voice caught in your throat as he closed the distance between you two in five quick strides, his hand automatically cradling your face.
“Are you… okay?” He asked quietly, worry seeping in his tone as his eyes flitted over you and you blushed.
It had happened twenty minutes ago.
He had been on his way back from the library, wanting to show her the new book he found when Kija introduced him to something called ‘reading’. He found it fascinating but he was struggling with the long and complicated words and hoped that you had some time to read to him.
At least, that’s what he was hoping when he found you but the sight that greeted him was an unwelcome one to him and it made his blood boil.
You were with other men, in your fanciest dress with your hair done up all nice so much so that he would’ve been distracted by your beautiful shoulders and luscious curves of your body if it had not been for those people touching you.
Shin-ah gawked at you from where one of them had their hands on your waist at his audacity. While he knew that none of his dragon brothers or Hak were allowed to brazenly tell off the suitors in public, as instructed by the king, he didn’t know what to do with these conflicted feelings.
And while he knew that the gesture was mostly innocent, just meant to steer you in a direction that was less crowded, it lingered on your lower back for a beat longer than was considered appropriate.
He was willing to let it go until the guy grew braver and whispered something in your ear, making his hands clench at his sides as he held himself back from storming over there and disrupting the tranquil afternoon atmosphere.
On one hand, he knew that you could handle yourself. Seriously, he had seen you flip one guy over your shoulder when he got too handsy, even though you were in your nicest gown with heavy skirts.
Hak snorted so loud when he saw you toss that man twice your size onto the floor like it was nothing.
But although Shin-ah cracked a smile as Jae-ha chuckled off to the side, seeing you handle yourself at the party was one thing; but seeing you here with no protection other than a few guards, he didn’t know how to feel or if he was allowed to go over there and remove their hands from you.
Before he could decide what to do, you deliberately shoved them off yourself, yelling at them to tell them off and then you sprinted away, leaving the guests you were supposed to entertain in the dust.
Shin-ah had quickly alerted the guards of the situation, in as least amount of words as possible since he really didn’t want to talk to them, before he followed you.
At first, he wasn’t sure if you wanted to be alone or not.
But he just wanted to make sure you were okay.
Shuffling his feet, Shin-ah hid in the shadows of the castle, just in case you didn’t want company. But his eyes went wide from behind his mask when you shouted in frustration and at that point, the dragon bond told him of your distress.
And now that he knew, he could feel that you needed him, he didn’t hesitate to take you into his arms.
You sighed blissfully, as his arms wrapped around you and snuggling into his chest, you buried your face into the crook of his neck.
“Don’t worry, Shin-ah, I’m okay.” You reassured softly, nuzzling into him further when you heard how hard his heart was beating.
He hugged you tighter, his exhales making your hair stir with every relieved breath and you squeaked in surprise when he pulled you down into his lap as he abruptly sat down on the stone bench.
Your arms looped around his neck for balance and you yelped when he stuck his face close to yours.
“Y/N…” Shin-ah breathed shakily, resting his forehead against yours.
You smiled softly. “... ‘m okay.”
Now straddling his lap, you laughed slightly when he softly kissed your cheek. His eyes fluttered shut as you held him close and he was unsure at this point whether he was comforting you or you were comforting him.
Carding your fingers through his hair, you slowly displaced his mask when he didn’t make any move to push you away.
Beautiful golden eyes stared back at you with the deepest level of love and your heart instantly softened. A rosy blush was painted on his cheeks, the red marks on his cheeks nearly blending in with the shade of his flush and you giggled as you poked it.
The first time he had shown you his eyes, you had been overwhelmed by the sheer vulnerability shining in them and you had taken his cheeks, smushed them together and declared that no matter what, you would always be there beside him.
Shin-ah had sniffled, nodded and cried when you took him into your embrace and your heart shook at how much he had been through.
Which is why you were currently shocked that he was rumpling your dress in an effort to get your skirts up.
“Shin-ah!!” You chastised, torn between mortification and arousal as he pawed feebly at your hips. “What are you—”
“... Need you, please.” He begged quietly, his mouth working over the expanse of exposed skin as he slipped off the top of your dress. “Please.”
Fire burned in his loins and he needed you. Bad.
Your mouth dried at the sight of the normally so reserved blue dragon pleading for you to take care of him. His hands roamed all over your body, caressing anywhere he could reach but there was a fervor behind it that was unknown to you.
“Yeah?” You coaxed breathlessly, urging him to undress as he bunched your long skirts around your hip, lifting them up to peek at your panties underneath.
Shin-ah’s jaw went slack as he caught a glimpse of the light blue satin with a pretty lace design in front. That tent in his pants grew uncomfortably tight as his cock swelled and licking his lips, he slowly slid them to the side to expose your dripping core to his hungry eyes.
“Shin-ah!!” You exclaimed in shock but threw your head back and he sank two fingers in your weeping pussy to prep you.
Strands of hair from your fancy updo were coming undone as he continued to stroke your velvety walls, peppering butterfly kisses over your collar bone.
You mewled, arching your back into his chest, head falling down onto his shoulder as he slowly pumped his fingers in and out of your dripping cunt. Breathing heavily, you tried to form words to let him know it was okay for him to go faster but you couldn’t muster it and your mouth fell open when he brushed against that spot inside you.
A shrill shriek was barely muffled in time when you clapped a hand over your mouth, squeezing your eyes shut at the onslaught of immense pleasure.
The bond that you shared with them only served to increase it, much to your desire and dismay.
From here, you knew no one would see you, as these gardens were hardly strolled by anyone else other than you; but that didn’t stop from the blood in your veins from throbbing as you realized the danger of a guard walking by to check in on you, only to see you getting fingered by the shy blue dragon.
He wasn’t so shy right now. He was downright jealous.
All his feelings from earlier made his vision blur and clouded his rationality. All he could think about was how they had no right to lay a single finger on you and he was gone. His mouth pulled back in a snarl as he fumbled to undo his robe.
He was unable to feel or hear anything else other than the blood pumping through his ears and the heavy length in his hand as he pulled it out.
Once his cock was out of his confines, your eyes widened at the sight of it resting in between your bodies and your mouth watered.
Look, you knew he wasn’t small by any means, he had put it in you before; but for some reason, it looked bigger than last time.
“S-Shin-ah?!” You squeaked, intimidated by the raw mass of it.
Your head tilted back and you moaned as he rubbed the girth over your puffy outer lips, coating it in your essence to make it easier for you to take.
No matter how many times you guys did this, he always took care of you. Hurting you was the last thing he wanted to do.
Shin-ah groaned your name softly in your ear as he hiked up your legs higher around his waist to give him better access and he shivered as your entrance made contact with his cock.
“Please.” He pleaded quietly, his voice trembling as he kept rutting against your bare pussy without inserting his shaft. “I need you.”
You whimpered, clinging to his neck and nodded desperately against his shoulder, giving your clear consent. “Yes, fuck, holy shit— please!!”
Given the go-ahead, Shin-ah fought to keep a lid on his restraint as he sank you down on his length, jerking as your hot walls gripped around him tightly.
“Ah, ngh, ah!!” Shin-ah huffed into your shoulder, fighting to hold himself back as he sank you all the way down, biting hard on your clavicle as he buried himself into you. “Mmph, Y-Y/N… ah!!”
The unexpected teeth that latched onto the curve of your neck had you pushing your chest into his as he guided you down his thick cock.
Arousal continued to trickle out of you as you heard the usually shy baby be so vocal until he was all the way inside of you and you whined, writhing against him in an effort to entice him to fuck you properly as you started to bounce up and down.
“Shi… Shin-ah,” You moaned, gyrating your hips, encouraged when a particularly loud moan ripped from his throat. “I’m ready, p-please, oh fuck, do something!!”
His cock swelled inside of you and you swore that he was going to burst before you even started.
To your surprise, he kept a firm hold on the back of your thighs and your jaw dropped as he fucked up into you.
You barely cried out before his hand slapped over your mouth, his thrusts growing sloppier as he lost his momentum and rutted into you with reckless abandonment, jostling you in his lap under the force.
Your skirts covered the activities you guys were doing but if anyone were to walk in, they’d know immediately by the suspicious movements as you bounced in his lap.
But he wasn’t going to stop.
Fueled by the white-hot jealousy that spiked through his veins the instant he saw those men put their filthy hands on you, Shin-ah snarled, fucking you harder.
You were his.
His to love. His to cherish. His to touch like this.
Hands roaming over your body under your clothes that you wore especially for this day, Shin-ah couldn’t get but get a sweet satisfaction out of seeing you writhing on top of him like this when you were supposed to be taking care of the palace guests and entertaining them like the good girl you were.
“Hnghh, Y/N,” He gasped out when you clamped down on him. “I’m close.”
You damn near screamed as he thrusted up into you with a strength that shouldn’t have been possible at this angle and you would’ve fallen off if it wasn’t for his strong arm winding around your waist in order to pin you to his body.
“Y/N,” Shin-ah panted, voice hot and heavy in your ear and your thighs trembled. “You’re mine, right? You belong to us.”
Mewling, you nodded, eyes slipping shut as he pounded up into you with such vigor that he nearly unseated you several times in the process. His hips snapped into your ass, each slap barely audible under the heavy skirts and you had a fleeting thought of how it was even possible for him to fuck you like you weighed nothing but the euphoria that coursed through your veins overpowered all comprehensive thoughts, turning them into mush.
“Yes, yes, yes,” You mewled, half-conscious at the speed his girth was stretching you out. You felt so full, completely stuffed with his cock. “... ‘m all yours.”
His breathing grew ragged and his thrusts became sloppier, pumping you on his length once, twice more before he was struggling to hold it back until he felt you were about to cum.
Your eyes rolled into the back of your head. “Shin-ah—”
His golden eyes were nearly black, filled with pure desire for you and you whined, raking your nails across his back as he rocked you mercilessly back and forth on his cock. Locking your lips together, he moaned when your tongue slipped into his cavern.
Overwhelmed by how hard he kissed you and how hot he was pulsating inside of your channel, you panted against his mouth when he broke the kiss. “I-I love you so much, fuck—”
Shin-ah’s eyes screwed shut at those words and burying himself deep inside of you, he came hard. His release triggered yours and you bit down on his shoulder to stifle the scream that tore from your lungs.
You trembled uncontrollably on top of him, thighs squeezing his hips as the high crashed over you.
Shin-ah whimpered as your hot walls convulsed around him, milking rope after thick rope of cum from his cock, shooting it deep inside of you. His fingers dug into your hips and he kissed you sloppily, disoriented from how sensitive he was balls-deep inside of you.
He didn’t pull out of you right away, opting to stay buried in your sweet cunt until your skin grew clammy and the sweat dried on your face.
“Shin-ah,” You whined childishly as you came back down from the spontaneous orgasm he had just given you in your favorite garden. “Wha… What was that about?”
Winding his arms around you, he nuzzled into your chest, suddenly feeling shy.
“What?” You giggled as he mumbled something from between your breasts, carding your fingers through his hair to soothe him. “You wanna repeat that for me?”
Heat crept up his neck but he blinked up at you owlishly, love reflected in the depths of his eyes that had returned back to their beautiful and striking golden color.
“I love you, too.” Shin-ah echoed softly.
A wide smile broke out on your face and you bit your lip.
“Yeah?” You laughed as he carefully rearranged your dress back over your shoulders and draped the skirts over your legs.
Your lips ghosted over the shell of his ear, curling in a smirk against the soft cartilage cheekily.
“It’s a good thing I’m all yours then.”

Happy Hungry Bunch with Modern!AU Jobs
Yona of the Dawn | Akatsuki no Yona
YONA
The princess goes first because she is a princess.
She's that super rare hip hairdresser you stumble upon in salons and you think "Damn I really wanna be like her."
She's rocking that short hair look, as well as the "red" colour
(look it's totally hot pink it's not red people get your colours right)
HAK
He protec
He attac
But most importantly
He Hak.
Keeping with his "General/Commander" kind of title, he works to keep the peace.
But he's that real scary looking guard that no one wants to fuck up around.
Because he just might kill you with his flashlight.
And hidden spear he keeps in the storeroom when he's on his shifts.
YUN
Our precious mother of the group.
(S)He does what he does best.
Mixing shit together to make people feel better. Mamma Yun to the rescue.
It's the headcanon of pretty much every yona fanfic so it makes sense to me.
Got stabbed? Dr. Yun will fix ya right up.
He's super well-known and highly acclaimed and so he's busy all the time.
We'll throw in the fact that he's probs loaded with money too, because everyone loves him and pays him more than what they actually owe.
KIJA
For the life of me
I could not decide if Mr White Snake is a massager or a community worker.
I mean, he's good with his hands (wink wink)
But he really likes to help the community and thrives working in a team.
It's in his nature because he was part of a village in an alternate universe with dragons and stuff
SHINAH
Y'know that saying "pictures are worth a thousand words"?
our precious blue dragon works as a photographer.
Since he doesn't speak a lot.
It was either a photographer or a sign language speaker. Both are hella cool professions
He travels with Ao, obviously.
Ao got his own camera too.
JEAHA
Now jeaha...
this little shit
He made my life so hard, i could not decide what he would be out of six different jobs.
because i kept fangirling all of the different outfits he would be wearing.
so i narrowed it down to him working in the best coffee shop in town or a model.
Or both.
Wine probably is more his thing, but coffee shops are so nice to sit in and bump into nice guys with long green hair.
like that jeaha modern!au oneshot I did (wink wink go read it).
ZENO
Our little ball of sunshine.
He has that quality in him that i think would be really great in connecting with other kids/youth.
He would be a really fun youth leader I think.
But he's also that one that you can go to for help if there's something troubling you.
He's had his own fair share of fucked-up life happenings, so he knows what internal pain feels like.
and external.
He's got scars all over him, but everyone loves him because they know he must've had a hellish life.
still waiting for vanderwood

Misunderstanding (Husband!Jae-ha x Wife!Reader)
Tumblr media
"Jae-ha, could you please pass me the roasted duck?"
You were surprised when he flat out ignored you, choosing to drift over towards Yona. Raising an eyebrow, you slid over to where Yoon was watching the whole thing. He looked just as confused as you.
The Happy Hungry Bunch was spread out around an empty field, lounging around while the pretty boy genius cooked up some dinner. Jae-ha went off with Yona and you suppressed a sigh. Lately, he had become more and more distant with you, and it was starting to drive you a little crazy.
You both were young, even though he was older than you. A lot of people said your marriage wasn't going to last, but you didn't care and you thought he didn't either. Now, you were having second thoughts, the insecurities getting the best of you as you watched him flirt with Yona.
You knew that was just his nature, and that it was harmless. Mostly. But it still sent a turmoil of conflicting emotions inside of you, and you were unsure if you should even be feeling this way.
You pushed up off your feet, wiping your dirty hands on a damp cloth. Yoon gazed at you worriedly as you turned away from them, trailing after where Jae-ha and Yona had disappeared.
A giggle floated through the air, enabling you to find them easily. You crossed your arms and leaned against a tree, staring at them with narrowed eyes.
"Excuse me, Yona, may I talk to him for a moment?"
Yona nodded, just about to leave when Jae-ha stopped her.
"Why do you want her to go?" He questioned, mistrust swirling in the depths of his eyes.
Both your and Yona's eyes went wide with shock. He never took this tone with you.
"I would just like to talk to you for a moment in private, Jae-ha." You picked your words carefully. You didn't know why, but he looked ready to explode at any second. You had no idea why he was so angry.
"She can stay here."
Yona let out a squeak as Jae-ha tugged her back to his side, unprepared for the sudden jostle. A beat later, she was freed by none other than the Thunder Beast.
"Keep your hands off of her." He glared, making the threat obvious.
"Then don't touch what's mine!!" Jae-ha snarled.
At this point, you were completely confused and starting to get mad. "Jae-ha, you aren't making any sense."
"No?!?!" He thundered, whipping around to face you. You had never seen him this angry and it was terrifying. "You think I'm making this up!!"
You huffed. "That's not what I said."
"Yeah?! Well it sure sounds like it!!" His hands flailed in the air in frustration, and you instinctively whimpered, eyes growing as wide as saucers.
He didn't notice the change in your demeanor, but someone else did.
"Droopy-Eyes, knock it off."
Jae-ha turned on him, kicking him harshly in the abdomen. Hak had been ready for it, but it still knocked the wind out of him. Jae-ha reached for Yona again, but that was a mistake.
He was shoved back harshly and Hak brandished his glaive with a feral gleam in his eyes.
"Touch her again. I dare you."
Jae-ha let out a growl. "You can't have them both!!"
You were shocked. You had never seen him like this before. You had never seen either one of them like this, they looked ready to rip each other apart at a moment's notice.
You couldn't stand it any more. You didn't want to fight.
You let out a quiet, reserved sigh. "Jae-ha... it's okay..."
His head whipped towards you and you took step back at the red aura emitting from him.
"Okay?!?! That's all you have to say?!" He yelled at you, continuing to raise his volume despite the way you flinched back, not registering your fear through the red haze. All he could think about was how he couldn't believe you didn't trust him, after all this time together.
After everything you've been through.
You had both saved each other from a life of despair and hopelessness. You brought out the light in him, and he brought peace to you.
You never thought things would come crashing down around you like this. Least of all, now, when it was so critical that your group stayed together.
Quickly, you walked away, praying that he wouldn't follow you. Today wasn't your lucky day. He stormed after you, completely furious with the way you were talking to him, how you were treating him.
"Stay away from her." Zeno demanded, no longer in the mood for games.
"You can't tell me what to do. She's my wife." Jae-ha declared.
Shin-ah stubbornly shook his head. The snarl painted on his features was nothing to take lightly. "Stay... away."
The low tenor shocked everyone, but Jae-ha wasn't deterred. "You can't keep me from her."
Hak stepped up aggressively. "Yes, we can. She's terrified of you right now. We're going to make sure she's alright before we let you anywhere near her."
At this point, Jae-ha finally took in your trembling appearance and he froze. The tears that stained your cheeks and your knocking knees hit him dead in the heart.
You were afraid. Of him.
Jae-ha couldn't believe he let it get this far. He ran into the tent you two shared as you were escorted away by the blue and yellow dragon.
Hak pushed back the flap of the tent once morning came. Jae-ha hadn't made an appearance once after yesterday's fiasco, and it was time to figure out just what was going on.
"Droopy-Eyes, what the hell were you thinking?"
As furious as he was for making you cry, he knew there was something else going on.
The green dragon might have been older, but over time, the former general had learned to read him like a book. There was something bothering him.
He was right.
Ryokuryuu was crouched on the ground, his back slumped and shoulders stiff.
Hak wouldn't be surprised if he had stayed like that throughout the night.
Jae-ha breathed out a heavy sigh, finally confessing, "I thought you guys were cheating on each other behind my back. I wanted to protect Yona, and maybe get back at you. Because no matter how much it hurts, I still love her."
Hak narrowed his eyes and then frowned.
"You're an idiot."
Jae-ha sputtered at the insult, but he wasn't finished. "You honestly think that we're sleeping together? Even though you're probably the only one who understands the depth of my feelings for Yona?"
Jea-ha was floundering to come up with a response.
"But you two have been spending a lot of time together, and yesterday at the market, you spent the entire day together. It's the first day she didn't fall asleep in my arms."
Hak crossed his arms over his chest and rolled his eyes exasperatedly, a blush settling across his cheeks.
"Jae-ha, she was helping me pick out a ring for Yona. She was helping me figure out how to propose." Hak explained quietly. "I wanted it to be perfect for her."
Jae-ha's jaw dropped to the floor, speechless.
"B-But— Y-You... I-I-I—"
"Yeah, yeah," Hak brushed off his excuses. "Just go apologize to her, will you? She's been crying all night."
Jae-ha left without a second thought and the ex-general followed soon after.
Your head was laying in Zeno's lap, and he was stroking your hair softly. Shin-ah was positioned near you, keeping watching out for any unwanted guests. His legs were criss-crossed, and Ao's fluffy tail was brushing under his ear once in a while.
When Shin-ah abruptly jumped to his feet, you knew something was wrong. Zeno's carefree expression was wiped off of his face and his eyes narrowed as the blue dragon snarled the second your husband cautiously entered the tent.
He at least had the decency to look apologetic, but you stiffly turned away from him, not ready to forgive him. His shoulders slumped and Shin-ah nearly growled. "Get out."
"Wait, please." Jae-ha begged. "Y/N."
"The miss doesn't want to see you right now." Zeno's voice had a light lilt to it, but there was an underlying warning that came with it.
"Y/N." Jae-ha whispered brokenly.
Your eyes softened, and you slowly turned around. Shin-ah looked about ready to throw Ryokuryuu out of the tent himself, but you shuffled towards him, pulling on his pant leg to get his attention.
"Shin-ah, Zeno, it's alright. Can you two give us a minute?"
The two dragons reluctantly left the tent, Zeno shooting you a worried glance but you offered him a reassuring smile.
Jae-ha settled down across from you, with respectable distance.
Your face was blank, but your eyes were puffy and the skin around it was rubbed red.
You had been crying.
He felt awful. He jumped to conclusions, and wrongfully accused you of things you didn't do.
"I don't deserve you."
Your head snapped up at his defeated tone.
"What?"
Jae-ha shook his head in regret. "I thought you and Hak were..."
You recoiled back in shock. "W-What?! No, you got it all wrong!! He's going to marry Yona, I was—"
He closed the distance between the two of you, cupping your jaw tenderly. Soft breaths fanned out against your face and warmed your skin soothingly.
"I know, I know. Hak told me what you were doing." Your eyes fluttered closed in relief. "I'm so sorry for assuming the worst."
Your hands reached up to cradle his face. "Come to me next time." You pleaded. "Talk to me."
He nodded furiously, finally pulling you in a tight embrace.
Relaxing in his hold, you didn't hear them come in.
"Yay!!" Zeno cheered.
"Is everything okay?"
Yona's worried voice floated through the air, breaking the two of you apart. You smiled at your husband, weaving your fingers together.
"Yeah... we're alright now."
Jae-ha leaned down, capturing your lips in a soft kiss and you melted against him.
Yona cooed at the display and Hak pretended to barf.
"Lunchtime, you rare beasts!!" Yoon shouted from outside.
One by one, the dragons, the princess, her bodyguard all filed out of your tent obediently. As he dished out the portions, you shared a look with Jae-ha as Hak fumbled with Yona's bowl.
It would be awhile before he got down on one knee, since their journey took precedence, but you couldn't wait to see it.
After all, You thought to yourself as Jae-ha pulled you against his chest, curling his arms securely around your waist. Despite its ups and downs, marriage is worth it.

The Pirates of Awa (Protective!Soft!Jae-ha x Pirate!Reader)
Tumblr media
(This is the first chapter of my fanfic, "Ryokuryuu's Lifeline" but I originally intended for this to be a oneshot, so it can be read as a standalone.)
Words: 3.5k
"Captain, I've got the—"
You stopped dead in your tracks at the sight of the unusual group before you. There were five of them, a tall man with black hair, a man with white hair and an abnormal claw for a right hand, a masked man draped in blue with a squirrel on top of his head, a young boy with feathers in his hair and a cloaked girl, red hair peeking out from underneath.
Your hand holding a bag full of food dropped down to your side, as you strode over to Captain Gi-gan. Jae-ha was near her, but the other crew was scattered all around the ship's deck, poised for a fight.
"Whoa, did I interrupt something?" You asked the captain, hands raised up in faux innocence. Captain Gi-gan's mouth quirked up in a smile, and she gestured to her side with her pipe. You grinned, hoisting yourself up on the ship's rail and leaned forward, resting your elbows on your legs.
The captain ordered the all fighters in the middle, and your eyes widened as the three tall men stepped forward, immediately getting surrounded by the pirates. You caught Jae-ha's gaze, raising an eyebrow questioningly. He smirked, tilting his head to the side, getting you to focus back on the fight unraveling in front of you.
Your eyes widened and your mouth dropped open in shock as your comrades were wiped out in mere minutes.
"How are you feeling, Captain Gi-gan?" The tall man wielding a spear mocked, "Do you want us now?"
Ah... Jae-ha probably recruited them for our next mission.
"It's no use, Captain. Their strength is abnormal." Jae-ha spoke up, and you watched as he closed his eyes, leaning his head against the wall behind him. "It's like having three of me."
Captain Gi-gan tapped her pipe to her shoulder thoughtfully. "Very well." One by one, the pirates gradually began to pick themselves up off the floor.
"Y/N!" The captain called over her shoulder.
A wide smile spread across your face as you pushed yourself off of the railing, bounding over to the captain. Captain Gi-gan turned back to the mysterious but incredibly strong warriors. "Beat her and you pass."
"Captain!" Jae-ha protested immediately, lilac eyes filled with disbelief and concern. Captain Gi-gan shot him a sharp look, silencing him quickly.
Jae-ha turned to you, silently pleading, but you just shot him a reassuring smile, turning back to face your opponents as the three fighters began to circle around you.
"Hey, Hak," The man with white hair addressed the one with the large spear, "Are you sure it's a good idea to fight her? She's unarmed."
Even the masked man seemed reluctant to draw the sword strapped against his back. You rolled your eyes, drawing up your arms and curling your hands loosely into fists.
"White Snake, if you can't fight then you should stay back where it's safe." Hak shot back.
The white-haired man sputtered incredulously and you let out a laugh, eyes shining with excitement. "C'mon," You taunted, "Are you going to make me wait all day?"
Your three opponents shared a look before Hak rushed at you, swiping at your feet with his spear. You leaped clean over it, landing lightly on your feet. The wind rushed past you as you felt the strength behind his attack. He came at you again, and you dodged him again. At this point, the other two had started to join in. You crouched, then jumped back as you evaded the strikes aimed at you. You could tell, though, they were still holding back. Bringing up your arms in a defensive position, you feigned losing your footing, causing the masked man to stumble so his strike wouldn't hit you and you saw your opening.
Curling your hand into a fist, you punched him hard in the shoulder while he was off balance, and swept your leg under his feet. He fell down hard, sword landing a few paces away. You turned your attention back to the other two.
You heard a shout.
"Shin-ah!"
White hair streamed behind him as the man with the claw launched himself at you.
Your eyes twinkled with mischief and you sprang forward to meet him. His right hand grew abnormally large in size as you both got closer to each other. You ducked under it as he slashed at you, catching his upper arm from the outside and pushing down harshly on his shoulder, slamming him into the deck. Wood splintered under the force and you looked up, grinning as you caught the dark look in Hak's eyes.
This was what you wanted.
You moved first, darting forward precisely. He swung at you, much faster than last time, and you didn't get out of the way in time. Your cheek stung from the new abrasion, but you barely noticed it. Not missing a beat, you grabbed a hold of his spear the next time it danced closer to you, just missing the bladed end as you grabbed the staff firmly at its halfway point. Stepping closer to him, you thrusted the blade down firmly; using it as leverage to flip backwards, yanking it out of his hands. You landed in a low crouch right behind Hak as his weapon clattered on the wood deck a few feet away, kicking him forward in the back harshly. Hak tripped for a second before catching his footing, spinning swiftly on his heel to face you.
He didn't see your leg coming.
Your kick caught him ruthlessly in the side, sending him sprawling hard to the ground.
Hak's eyes held subtle approval as he picked himself up off the ship's deck. You readied your stance again, bouncing lightly on the balls of your feet as the three formed in a semi-circle in front of you.
"That's good enough." Captain Gi-gan interjected, effectively causing the four of you to relax. "You pass."
The boy and girl that arrived with Hak and the others let out a cheer at the captain's announcement, and you held out your hand for the fighters to shake.
"Great match." Despite the cut on your cheek, your eyes glowed brightly, body still buzzing with adrenaline. "It was fun! Let's have another one soon!"
Hak shook your hand, resting the other on your shoulder for a split second before he went back to the cloaked girl's side. The white-haired man followed suit a little more reluctantly, and the one called Shin-ah just tilted his head, looking adorably confused.
You shouldered past the crew who were looking at you with a mix of awe and admiration, breaking out of the crowd on the other side and joining Jae-ha's side. His eyes were shadowed by his green hair, and you bent your head, pouting.
"What's the matter, big guy?"
It was a running joke between the two of you, because he was so tall. He would often make fun of you, teasing you every second of the day and using his height as means to do so. You furrowed your brow in concern when he stayed unusually silent, but before you could inquire further, you were cut off.
"Go home." Captain Gi-gan's sharp voice cut through, startling both you and Jae-ha out of the bubble you two were in. You pushed through the crowd once more, this time, with Jae-ha trailing right behind you. He was so close to your back that you could practically feel the warmth radiating from his form.
You both arrived in time to see the white-haired man step forward. "If this person cannot join, then we—"
"Kija." The cloaked girl intervened, "It's fine. It's as Captain Gi-gan says."
Your eyes widened in astonishment.
It.. couldn't be...
"But..." You caught sight of familiar violet eyes flashing with grief and determination. "There's a reason I can't retreat either."
You didn't hear Captain Gi-gan's next words as you frantically pulled the pieces together in your mind.
Red hair.
Violet eyes.
Princess Yona was alive!!
Your mouth dropped open. The rest of her group was staring at you oddly, except for Hak, confused by your reaction.
"Princess?" You whispered. Yona's head shot up, recognition overcoming her features as a wide smile broke out across her face.
"Y/N?!"
You both reached for each other at the same time, meeting in the middle, embracing tightly.
"I can't believe it." You murmured in disbelief, "You're alive!"
Yona sniffled, nodding her head against your shoulder. You pulled back after a few seconds, wiping a few tears from the corner of your eye. You caught Hak staring at you, leaning against his spear leisurely with a cocky smile on his face.
You rolled your eyes with a grin. "Yeah, yeah, it's good to see you too."
Then, you turned to your captain, bewilderment flickering in Captain Gi-gan's gaze as she studied you.
"I trust her." You announced determinedly, "Will that be enough?"
Surprise flitted across Captain Gi-gan's features. You rarely said those words. It took months and many trials for her to gain your trust and even longer for Jae-ha, who you were closest to out of everyone in the crew.
You must've had some history with that girl. Captain Gi-gan noted to herself.
"She needs to complete a task to gain my trust. One that you cannot do." The captain said pointedly to you, noticing that your stance had widened defensively in front of Yona.
"It's okay," Yona placed a reassuring hand on your arm, causing you to look at the princess in surprise. "I can do this."
Captain Gi-gan gave the princess the task of collecting senjusou from the Vanishing Cape. It was a rare medicinal plant that had special properties, enabling accelerated healing. Her comrades had protested against it, but you didn't miss the way the young boy's eyes lit up at the prospect of faster healing, easily concluding that the kid, whose name you learned was Yoon, must have some knowledge in the medical area.
Jae-ha had taken Yona to complete her trial, and you stayed behind with everyone else that was left behind as well.
When you asked him directly about his knowledge on medicine, Yoon seemed taken aback, but then Hak bonked him on the head, answering for the pretty boy. "He patches us up after our fights and takes care of any other injuries."
Yoon rubbed where Hak hit him. "I wouldn't need to if you rare beasts would stop being so careless!" He snapped, glaring at the former general.
"So," You sauntered over to Hak as Kija began bowing, apologizing profusely to the pretty boy. "Glad to see that you're alive."
He grinned, uncrossing his arms, extending them for a hug. You laughed lightly, accepting it without hesitation.
"How long has it been?" He asked, pulling back.
"Several years at least." You concluded, counting your fingers.
Hak chuckled, ruffling your hair fondly as you tried to swat him away.
"Still causing trouble, I see." He teased.
You huffed. "Hak, you big meanie!" You whined childishly.
Yoon looked at you curiously. "How do you two know each other?"
You brought your arms up to rest against the back of your head. "I was a servant in the castle for years but then I left. I served as the late king's personal attendant."
"Speaking of which," Hak looked at you curiously. "Why did you leave?"
You shrugged, "His Majesty wanted me to see the world." Closing your eyes as you remembered what he said to you on that day,
Don't regret your life by not living it.
Then, you turned to Hak. "What brings you here all the way to Awa? Along with..." You glanced at his companions. "Everyone?"
"We're on a mission," Hak crossed his arms. "The Princess is searching for the four dragons."
"Yah, Thunder Beast!" The pretty boy hissed. "I thought we were keeping that a secret!"
Hak cocked his head to the side. "Not from Y/N."
You grinned, gaze turning serious as you faced his friends.
"I'm not a threat," You promised. "I would never bring harm to Her Highness."
Yoon eyed you suspiciously. "Why?"
You sighed crossing your arms against your chest. "Contrary to what you might think of me, I remain loyal to the late king, and Her Highness. I have no ulterior motives."
He frowned, not completely satisfied, but you ignored it. After all, you were used to it.
A pained smile broke out on your face but then, it suddenly vanished.
"There's a storm coming." Captain Gi-gan muttered to herself. "That girl's going to be in trouble if she doesn't hurry."
You and Hak exchanged a panicked look. He banged the blunt end of his spear against the deck, gaining the attention of the captain.
"Take me to her." He demanded, jaw set. The captain sighed but motioned for them to follow her as she made her way off the ship.
There was a knowing gleam in your eye, grinning slyly at Hak as you and the others trekked off the ship and up a grassy incline. "Still like her, do ya?"
"Shut up." He shot back, a pained smile stretched across his face and didn't reach his eyes.
You stopped dead in your tracks. "Wait, you really haven't told her?"
He sighed, "It's complicated."
You let the subject slide. There obviously was more to it, but he didn't seem in the mood to talk, his whole body tense the entire walk up to the cliff-side.
You could practically feel Hak's glare burning into you when they arrived, staring at the nearly vertical drop. "She'll be fine." You reassured him. "Jae-ha's with her."
"I don't trust Droopy-Eyes within an inch of my life." He mumbled.
You let out a hearty laugh, "Droopy-Eyes?!"
Hak grinned. "What? It fits him."
"Just like White Snake?" You smirked, raising an eyebrow.
"Don't call me White Snake!" Kija exclaimed, pointing an accusatory finger at you as a vein popped out of his forehead. You stuck out your tongue playfully in return.
Yona retrieved the senjusou and delivered it to Captain Gi-gan. You shared a side glance with Hak as they returned back, soaking wet. Your expression cleared when Yona explained that she nearly was swept off the cliff, but Jae-ha saved her.
That she didn't accomplish it without his help.
But then, as Yona announced she would go back down and get it by herself this time, you couldn't help it. Barking out a laugh, they all turned their attention towards you.
"Sorry, sorry," You apologized, waving your hand, "You've just come a long way since back then, haven't you, Your Highness?"
The red-haired princess beamed at the praise, but there was a sadness behind it. You patted her on the shoulder comfortingly, glancing up at Jae-ha, who had yet to meet your gaze. You frowned. The others went to Yona as you walked over to the brooding green dragon, smiling for a second as you faintly heard Yoon yelling and scolding the princess for being an idiot. You knew he was just worried about her.
"Yah, Jae-ha." You elbowed him in the ribs, frown deepening when he didn't playfully push you away or make a teasing comment about wanting to touch him. "What's the matter with y-"
You were cut off as he grabbed your chin, tilting it upwards so that you could face him. Your heart started to beat faster, his face was so close to yours. Gently, with the utmost care, he moved your head to the side, eyes darkening as they landed on the strip of blood stark against your cheek. The blood had since dried since the sparring match, but you didn't get a chance to clean it, so it still stung faintly.
Jae-ha's jaw clenched at the sight, not missing the way you tried to hide your wince as he brushed over your cut. His violet eyes grew dark, fixating on Hak.
The Thunder Beast looked up, rubbing the back of his neck guiltily. He could practically feel Jae-ha's glare burning into him.
The green dragon bared his teeth, breath becoming heavier as his eyes flashed in anger and Hak took a step back, trying to ease the tension and show that he wasn't a threat.
"Jae-ha..." You murmured softly, still standing between them, acting as a shield.
He barely heard your soft voice through the red haze, jolting a little bit more out of it as he felt your fingers tentatively brush against his hand. His chest was still heaving and he looked like he was about to murder the former general.
"Jae-ha..." You hushed gently. Taking a chance, you wove your fingers together with his, bringing your other hand up to embrace him carefully.
"It's okay," You whispered, breath hot as it fanned against his neck. You closed your eyes. "I'm okay."
Jae-ha closed his eyes, releasing a shaky breath as he slowly began to calm down and come back to you. You held him close to you, repeating words of reassurance until he fully relaxed against you.
After his breathing had steadied for a few moments, you dropped your arm and tried to pull back. You were stopped, your hand still joined with his. You looked at him, puzzled. "Jae-ha?"
A small gasp escaped from your lips as you felt his other arm curl around your waist, pulling you flush against his chest. You were sure you were red by the heat you could feel on your face. Looking up at him questioningly, you were surprised to find him staring straight back at you, unusually serious.
He dropped his face down close to your ear. "Don't scare me like that again." He whispered brokenly. Your mouth opened in shock as realization dawned on you.
He was worried...
You nodded slightly, and you swear you felt him hug you tighter. Then, the two of you pulled apart. You did your best to squash the rising disappointment and ache at the loss of contact, blushing when you turned around and saw everyone else staring at the two of you.
You had forgotten that they were there.
Jae-ha shot Hak one last warning look, which the Thunder Beast dipped his head in grim understanding.
If he ever hurt you again, Jae-ha would not hold back, no matter how much he was impressed by Hak's combat skills. Your safety came first before anything else.
Shortly after, Captain Gi-gan had let Yona join, thoroughly impressed by the young girl's stubbornness and sheer will, and the group had dispersed. The captain, Shin-ah, Kija, Yoon and the pirates went back to the ship for dinner, with the pretty boy snapping at the pirates' teasing remarks the whole way back. Yona had held back and then disappeared in the opposite direction, the others too far ahead to notice she was not with them.
You looked in concern at Yona's retreating form, turning to Hak, who just shrugged his shoulders before following the princess. You made a move to follow the pirates, stopping when you noticed that Jae-ha wasn't following you.
"What do you need?"
Jae-ha looked up in surprise at your genuine tone. He let out a sigh, "Nothing, don't worry about me."
You crossed your arms, sticking your bottom lip out in an adorable pout that made Jae-ha unable to contain a fond smile.
"Don't you remember what I told you would happen if you tell me not to worry?" You questioned, mischief twinkling in your eyes. His brow furrowed in confusion for a second before the memory came flooding back to him full force.
"Y/N," Jae-ha protested, backing away with his hands out in front of him to ward you off. "Wait!"
You didn't.
Running full speed, you launched yourself at him with a battle cry, tackling him to the ground. He landed with an 'oof', wrapping his arms securely around you as you two slid back several feet, before stopping just short of the treeline.
"Geez..." Jae-ha's eyes fluttered shut as he caught a whiff of sweet jasmine from your hair. It washed over him in waves, bringing with it a soothing sense of comfort.
Of course, having you so close, it was proving to be difficult to calm himself down.
He looked down at you, who was snuggled in his arms contentedly, your arms circling around his neck.
"I warned you..." You mumbled into his shoulder. "You can't push me away. I'm not going anywhere."
Jae-ha felt his heart beat a little faster.
"Now, what do you need?" He caught the concern in your eyes and contained a tremble as a flood of emotions almost overwhelmed him.
Pulling you impossibly closer to him, he rested his chin on top of your head. "Stay with me?" He asked you quietly.
You closed your eyes.
"Always."

Trouble in the Tavern (Jealous!Shin-ah x Reader)
Tumblr media
[Slight spoilers for manga chp 65]
He's jealous, so it gets steamy towards the end. If that's not for you, probably don't read this one. Next one will be more lighthearted.
Words: 2.1k
The Happy Hungry Bunch had stopped in a nearby town just outside of the Kai Empire. Yona had performed her dance and you badly wanted to tease Hak about how he couldn't take his eyes off of her.
Instead, you were drinking away your sorrows because of a certain blue dragon. You wished he would look at you how Hak looked at Yona, but you supposed you couldn't win it all. The others had set up camp outside of the town so as to not draw any unwanted attention, and you had missed the way Shin-ah's eyes followed you as you left for the tavern.
You took another swing of the bottle in front of you, mind wandering aimlessly.
Shin-ah was a force to be reckoned with.
He had grown so much since the start of your journey, and you wished that he would allow you to be there for him as much as he was there for you. He had a habit of watching from the sidelines in silence until intervention was needed, usually between a bickering Jae-ha and Hak.
The booth that you were settled in was red leather, mimicking Yona's hair. You took another sip of the alcohol, wincing as it burned down your throat. Your head knocked back, banging against the dirty wooden wall behind you.
Time to dance.
There was faint music that wasn't very loud, but you just felt like dancing. There were already some present on the floor, and judging by their movements, they were pretty intoxicated. You took your place alongside them, in an empty space and began to sway your hips to the music. Your eyes closed as you let the beats flow over you.
Foreign hands settled on your hips, and you felt a body behind you. Your eyes shot open, immediately going to slap their hands off of your body, but they held you there, making you unable to turn around.
Your lips curled back in a snarl, desperately trying to break free of their grasp. Someone else stepped in front of you, and you looked up, meeting the gaze of an unfamiliar man.
"Eh... What do you think, man?" The voice, you didn't recognize it.
"She'll do. She's quite a beauty after all..." He leered at you, face going to sniff your hair.
You cringed away from him, but your movements were sloppy.
Dang it.
You've had too much to drink.
You felt panic rise in your chest, tightening your throat as they dragged you away. Normally, you'd be able to take them on, no problem, but this time they had caught you off guard. There was no way for you to fight them off.
I shouldn't have drank so much.
His grip has transferred from your hips to your arms, and you could feel the bruises forming underneath his fingertips.
But as the fear set in, their disgusting hands were wrenched from your body. You watched in awe as familiar white fur flooded your vision. Shin-ah let out a low growl at the sight of the bruises on your skin and continued to beat up the men now laying on the ground before you.
He still had his sword strapped to his back, but the swordsman didn't need it. He kept punching them until blood poured from their mouths.
By now, everyone was looking. You faintly heard someone screaming and others were cheering him on, but your gaze was trained on the normally reserved Seiryuu.
He drew back, standing menacingly above them, chest heaving. His body was practically vibrating in fury, and he barely held himself back from taking away their ability to breathe. The two barely conscious men cowered in fear at the sight of the fearsome masked man before them.
"Don't ever touch her again." Shin-ah snarled, baring his teeth threateningly.
How he longed to kill them and unleash the power of his eyes so that could feel excruciating pain before they left this world for good, but he had another priority.
He turned his attention back towards you, cupping your chin tenderly, inspecting you for injuries.
"Are you alright?" His soft voice reached your ears and your head spun at the contrast between the sweet Shin-ah in front of you compared to the raging dragon that he was a few seconds ago.
You shakily nodded your head, and he frowned, not at all liking how terrified they managed to make you in such a short span of time. He took your hand gently in his, leading you away from them and back to camp. He kept you close to his side the whole way there, you were practically tucked in his side, away from anyone's prying eyes.
Before you knew it, you were standing before three bewildered dragons, a very confused Hak, a concerned Yona and a scolding Yoon.
"We weren't supposed to attract any attention!!" Yoon shouted at the two of you, and you hid behind Shin-ah, his broad back shielding you from view and the pretty boy's vicious reprimanding.
Shin-ah dipped his head in apology, and Yoon huffed, eyes suddenly becoming curious. "What did you do anyways?"
He wordlessly held up his hands and gasps of shock could be heard from all around.
"Shin-ah!"
"That looks bad..."
"Oh no, what happened?!"
You peeked around him, jaw dropping in shock at the blood that crusted his knuckles.
Your wide eyes trained on him, filled with guilt. You sobered up fast. As Yoon moved to treat them, you reached out your hand, silently asking to do it instead. He handed them to you a little bit reluctantly, unsure if you'd be able to properly treat them in your drunken state, but your eyes were clear so he took a chance.
As you led him away from the campsite and into the forest, you couldn't stop the rising shame. He had to come save you, again. This wasn't the first time it had happened, and you couldn't help but feel bad that he was always looking out for you.
It's like I'm a kid that needs to be looked after... You thought venomously to yourself.
Shin-ah tilted his head, wondering why you looked angry. He hoped it wasn't aimed at him. He knew that he acted a bit out of character, but he never wanted to see that terror on your face again. It didn't belong there.
You gestured for him to take a seat at the base of the tree so that you could tend to his injuries, but he refused.
"Shin-ah, let me look at them." You insisted, going to swipe the ointment Yoon palmed him out of his hands.
You frowned when he sidestepped you, huffing and placing your hands on your hips.
"Stay still!!"
Lunging for him again, you lost your footing as your intoxicated mind miscalculated the distance between you two and you crashed straight into his chest. A blush bloomed across your cheeks, and you vaguely registered how he stiffened underneath you. You pulled back, apologizing profusely for making him uncomfortable, all while kicking yourself internally.
Idiot. We've been over this.
Holding out your hand for the medicine, he reluctantly caved and gave it to you. As you cleaned his cuts in silence, your bottom lip wobbled dangerously as the events of the night finally started to catch up with you.
Fingers that didn't belong to you gently brushed away the tears you hadn't realized were rolling down your face and you sniffled, wiping your eyes furiously.
He didn't say anything, but his nostrils flared as he saw the discolored skin on your upper arms and wrists. Outstretching his hand, his fingers barely brushed against the bruises, recoiling as he heard your breath hitch.
You caught his wrist before he could pull away, shaking your head furiously. "No, Shin-ah. Please don't leave."
He had no intentions of doing anything of the sort and his mouth set in a hard line at how insecure you were at the moment as a direct result of what those men had done to you. The corner of his lip curled back in disgust as he remembered what could have happened if he had arrived a minute later.
Your gaze lowered, mistaking his silence for another thing entirely. "I'm really sorry, please don't be angry at me."
His head snapped up in shock at your quiet whimper and he moved before he knew what he was doing.
Your eyes shot open as you were crushed in a tight hug, tears pricking at the corners of your eyes for another reason now.
"I'm not... angry at you." He told you quietly.
After you didn't say anything, he sighed, admitting softly, "I'm sorry... I should have... been there sooner."
You pulled back to look him in the eye, disbelief swimming in the depths of your gaze. "Shin-ah, there's no way this is in any way, your fault. I should have at least gotten Jae-ha to come with me so that this sort of thing didn't happen, but I figured he earned the time off."
His body tensed next to yours at the mention of the green dragon's name and you shuffled out of his arms sheepishly.
"Ah... it was stupid of me. I'll make sure to ask him next time, okay? So then you won't have to come looking for me anymore." Hugging your arms close to your body, you suppressed a shiver as his eyes locked on yours.
"No."
You tilted your head, confused. "Shin-ah?"
"No." The blue dragon ground out through clenched teeth. First the men, and now Jae-ha. He had waited too long. "I will go with you next time."
Lifting an eyebrow in astonishment, you hastily tried to repair the damage you thought you had done. "You really don't have to, I don't want to be a bother—"
The low growl that emitted from the back of his throat had you freezing.
"You're not." He nearly spat, beyond upset that you still believed you were bothering them with the most minor of things. He didn't blame you, fully aware of what happened to you to make you think like that, but he couldn't stand thinking that the girl he loved thought that she wasn't even worth the attention or effort from her friends. "I'm coming with you."
You were thick-headed, dense and in denial. "Shin-ah, you really don't have to—"
He groaned in frustration, surging forward and smashing his lips onto yours. The rage he had felt earlier when he saw those men touch you without your permission coupled with the jealousy coursing through his veins when you mentioned the seductive green dragon had become too much for him to restrain himself.
You squeaked in surprise at the forwardness of his kiss, caught off-guard by how fervently he was moving his lips against yours. Breaking out of your trance that this was really happening, you responded with vigor, sighing blissfully as he detached himself from your soft lips and began trailing kisses and bites along your jaw and neck.
"Shin-ah..." Your eyes rolled in the back of your head as he found your pulse point, curses flying from your mouth when he sucked on it harshly.
It was so unlike him that it had you practically purring for more. Even when he was worked up, he was just as gentle as ever, if not a little passionate.
His hands started to roam over your body, sliding underneath your thighs to hoist you onto his lap, not once pulling away from your intoxicatingly soft skin. Neck bared for him and only for him, he panted heavily, pressing his lips back to yours insistently.
Your mind had grown so hazy with the overwhelming flood of sensations that you barely heard him talking to you.
"What?"
The low chuckle made you bite your lip shyly.
"I said..." Shin-ah repeated, pecking your forehead sweetly. "You're mine."
A playful smile tugged on the corner of your lips and your eyes sparkled with mischief. "Oh?"
He nodded firmly and you giggled.
"Do I get a say in this?"
You saw him flush deeply and laughed out loud, knowing that if it were any other time, that would've been the first thing he would've asked you. You took a gander at what you thought spurred this out-of-character streak.
"Shin-ah, were you jealous?"
"Yes." He didn't even blink.
Moaning softly as he worked over the column of your throat, he asked timidly, so unlike the bravery he had displayed before. "... Be mine?"
And in the night of your solitude, you found solstice in the blue dragon. Eyes softening, you captured his lips tenderly with yours. "Shin-ah, I would be most honored."

The Unofficial Parents of the Happy Hungry Bunch (Zeno x Immortal!Reader)
Tumblr media
[Spoilers for the manga, chp 100 and 101]
Words: 2.6k
"Miss! Get back!!" Zeno shouted at Yona, running to her side desperately.
Golden hair darted into your vision as you yanked your knife out of the body at your feet. Your eyes shot open as blood spurted onto your face.
"Zeno!!" You cried, reaching out for him. He made it in front of her in time, but the strike aimed for the princess pierced him instead. They were relentless, numbers pouring over the Ouryuu. Your hands covered your face in horror as the bandits continued to slaughter him, chopping off his arms.
Then, one of them sliced off his head.
"NO!!!" You screamed.
Yona was still beside you, her face as white as a sheet and Yoon was beyond horrified. The rest of the dragons had a mix of shock and anger on their faces from where they were scattered around on the ground and Hak could barely move, only his eyes betraying his fury.
You fought your way beside Zeno, lips curling back in a ferocious snarl to ward off the soldiers who had finished hacking the precious Ouryuu to pieces.
"You'll pay for that." Your eyes glowed red, you couldn't even hear Yona scream your name as you cut them down, one by one.
They were too many and their numbers overwhelmed you quickly. You spat out blood, as a sword was suddenly pushed through your chest.
You faintly heard the anguished cries coming from your comrades.
Your deranged grin made Zeno halt as his body slowly regenerated.
You... were like him?!
Your wounds closed, magically repairing itself.
"I will protect them all. What, are you scared?" You challenged them as they backed away, drawing your blades once more. "You haven't seen anything yet."
For the first time in a thousand years, Zeno was positively speechless.
You were just like him.
He leaped up with a battle cry, fighting with a fervor you've never seen before as you dashed back into battle. The two of you fought side by side until the rest of them fled, thoroughly shaken by what they've just seen. They killed you two over and over again, and yet, you both had lived.
You grinned at Zeno in victory, and then the two of you were surrounded by your group, sending you tumbling to the ground with an 'oof'.
Yoon was weeping, and Shin-ah wasn't faring much better. His mask had gotten lost in the skirmish and his beautiful golden eyes were filled with terror. Kija had thrown himself between you and Zeno, eyes puffy from unshed tears and he finally bawled, burying his head into the ground. Yona was clinging to Zeno tightly, sobbing into his ripped and bloodied clothes.
Your gaze was gentle as you shushed the boy and the blue dragon's cries, pecking Yoon's head and tenderly rubbing your hand over Shin-ah's bloodied knuckles.
"You're all adorable." Zeno smiled brightly, patting Yona's head comfortingly.
"It's okay." You reassured Yoon softly. "We're alive. We're okay."
Hak and Jae-ha were behind you, and as you twisted to look behind you, you caught sight of their relieved but battered expressions.
You and Zeno shared a look as you embraced your friends tightly. Your conversation would have to wait, the children came first.
You stood up, ushering the dragons one by one in front of you, insisting that their wounds all needed to be treated even though yours hadn't stopped bleeding. Yoon was tearfully scolding you, but it didn't have the same harsh edge to it that you've become accustomed to as his voice broke.
After you had made camp and the pretty boy was finished patching everyone up, things had calmed down a bit. You were spread out lazily next to Zeno, face staring up at the setting sun with your arms resting behind your head. His injuries had healed completely, as had yours and you were itching to talk to him.
"You guys are really lively!" Zeno beamed. The dragons, Hak, Yoon and Yona then shifted their attention on you. You nearly collapsed under the weight of their stare.
You smiled sheepishly as Hak narrowed his eyes at you. You scurried behind Zeno, as if the Ouryuu could protect you from being crushed under the Thunder Beast's glare.
Yoon walked over, inspecting Zeno carefully before moving onto you. The two of you have no trace of the battle scars that should have been left behind.
"There are no wounds or scales..." Yoon murmured.
"After some time passes, it turns back to normal skin." Zeno explained with a cheery smile.
"You two, you really won't die?" He asked quietly, almost fearfully.
"I won't die." Zeno automatically responded and you nodded in agreement.
The boy promptly faced you, and bonked you on the head. You cried out, clutching your head in pain. "Yoon~" You pouted.
"You should have said something!!" He shouted, gesturing his hands wildly. "Do you have any idea how troublesome it is?!"
"Why did you stay quiet until now?" Hak asked quietly, head still spinning a little at the revelation. You glanced down.
"Because nothing changes whether you know or not." Zeno stood up, stretching his arms up over his head. "Zeno's powers don't activate unless there's a large injury anyway."
You shrugged as Jae-ha shifted his attention to you questioningly. "I'm just immortal. It doesn't matter to me whether you know or not. I'll always be there to protect you."
You looked at every single one of them. "All of you."
"Hey," Zeno whined. "That's my line."
He looked so adorable, you could help it. You pinched his cheeks, tugging at them. "Awwww Zeno, you're so cute!!"
Your friends watched you, dumbfounded, as the fearless warriors was reduced to a pile of mush in a matter of milliseconds.
Both of them.
Zeno tickled you in revenge and you squealed, running away from him.
"So..." Yoon's eyes followed you as you sprinted around the campsite, turning to Shin-ah. "These two, huh?
He nodded silently. Hak rolled his eyes humorously. "Guess they really are the adults here."
You tripped over a tree root, and Zeno lost his footing behind you, sending the both of you crashing to the ground at the same time.
"Although, they really don't act like it." Jae-ha mused.
Kija's eyes were still sparkling with relief at the fact that neither one of you were dead. "I think it's great! Y/N and Zeno make great parents!"
The light in his eyes didn't dim as everyone turned to look at him weirdly. His face flushed bright red as realization dawned on him.
"W-Wait! I didn't mean it like that!"
It was too late though, as the poor Hakuryuu was made a target for Hak and Jae-ha's relentless teasing. Shin-ah's head was tilted to the side in confusion as he watched his brothers squabble playfully, not quite sure how to join in.
Yona giggled as she watched their antics and Zeno didn't miss the way your eyes softened as they landed on the safe and sound bunch.
"You really love them, don't you?"
The corner of your mouth quirked up in a smile. "Yes."
And the two of you sat in silence, watching over your friends fondly. Eventually, Jae-ha eased up on the innocent Kija, approaching you carefully.
"What's the real reason, Y/N?" Jae-ha spoke up softly. He knew there was more than what you told them earlier. Zeno's gaze snapped to yours, unsure of what you would say to that.
It appears that he wasn't the only one curious. Hak made his way over to the forming circle and Yona followed him. Shin-ah plopped down on the ground in front of you, still albeit confused, but wanting to participate in whatever was happening and Kija settled next to him. Yoon came over as soon as he put dinner over the fire, eyeing you questioningly.
They were all in front of you, forming a semi-circle in a matter of seconds and you were at a loss for words. Zeno was beside you, and he leaned over, placing his hand over yours on the ground.
"If you don't want to tell them or me, right now," He whispered in your ear quietly, "Then, you don't have to."
You shot him a reassuring smile, flipping your palm to catch his hand before he could pull away, squeezing it in thanks.
You took a deep breath, before turning to the anxiously awaiting children in front of you.
"The more people that know, the worse it is for me." You chose your words cautiously. You didn't want to give them the wrong impression if you didn't explain it accurately. "Zeno was able to blend in and get away with it because he was a dragon that served a king before he left. For me, on the other hand, I've been hunted my entire life because of this power."
You shifted uncomfortably, not really wanting to tell them about what happened after, but Zeno wrapped an arm around your shoulder, drawing you close to him. You closed your eyes as you basked in the warmth radiating from him.
"There are a lot of people out there, who want what I have. To save themselves, to save loved ones, to save innocent ones, no matter who they are they always want it once they know about it. Generals, kings, ordinary citizens, everyone. For a time, I was kept in the dark for several years as people tried to figure out how to obtain my immortality." You continued, fingers toying with the hem of your shirt.
You left out the part that was gruesome, they didn't need to hear about the torture that you had gone through over time.
"So, I started keeping it a secret. If it was ever out in the open, the people alive to see it would need to be terminated so that knowledge of my ability didn't spread. It was the only way to keep myself and others safe. I understand you all must be upset," You winced as you were met with varying reactions. "But please try to respect why I chose to do what I did. I did not intend to hurt you by keeping this from you."
Shin-ah's head was bowed, and you couldn't see his facial expression, but his hands were clenched tightly in his lap. Jae-ha was shaking with what you assumed was anger, and Yoon was outright crying. Hak wasn't mocking the boy like he normally did, instead he was staring right at you, a turmoil of emotions swirling in his cobalt eyes. Yona's pleasant features were murderous and you were almost taken aback at the depth of rage manifesting there. Kija's mouth was pressed in a hard line, his dragon claw tearing his clothes at the force he was gripping them with.
You looked away guiltily, unable to keep eye contact with them knowing that they were upset with you. Needless to say, you were shocked when they all jumped on you.
"Y-You idiot!" Yoon reprimanded, throwing himself down in your lap so you couldn't see the tears gathering in his eyes.
"You endured so much pain!" Kija wailed, face filled with torment. "I am so sorry, Y/N!!"
"Did you think we would expose you?" Jae-ha asked, seemingly calm, but you recognized the insecurity in his eyes. You shook your head, smiling at him reassuringly. He didn't feel any better.
Shin-ah dropped to your side, face buried into your shoulder.
"Shin-ah?" You called softly, hoping to jolt him out of whatever trance he was in.
"You..." You strained to hear him. "You didn't deserve that." Shin-ah finished quietly, but firmly.
"He's right." Hak rested his chin on your head, making you sputter indignantly. "You didn't deserve what happened to you. We understand why you chose to keep it from us." His voice was uncharacteristically soft and your shoulders dropped as the tension eased from it.
"Yona?" You piped up timidly, realizing that she had yet to say anything.
Her shattering sobs was all the answer you got, and you wrapped an arm around her, rocking her gently. That sent the rest of them spiraling down, unable to take it anymore.
Shin-ah and Kija broke down, with Yoon furiously trying to wipe away the tears still streaming down his face. Jae-ha was desperately attempting to retain a semblance of control, but failed miserably. Your hair grew damp and you realized it was coming from the ex-general above you.
You tucked your face into the crook of Zeno's neck, and he rested next to yours, unshaken by Hak who continued to remain perched on top of you. Your breath was even against his skin, and Zeno resisted the urge to shudder. He was so angry when he heard what you had been through, but your comfort was more important than his feelings at the moment. He knew you didn't need to know his vengeful streak just yet, but he was for sure going to gather the rest of the dragons and Hak to avenge what had been done to you.
Zeno had no doubt they'd all agree.
You were too precious to all of them.
He knew you had promised to protect all of them, even him, but not if he got to it first.
It was true though, you had all eternity to duke it out with him. But somehow, his fate now seemed a lot less lonely when he pictured you in it.
Zeno smiled softly, looking down at where you were resting, fondly.
I'll keep you safe, Y/N. No one will ever hurt you again.
Bonus:
"Come at me." Zeno's blue eyes flashed. "I have all the time in the world."
"Me too." You said seriously.
"Y/N, you have to say something else." Zeno instructed, squatting down beside you, losing all the fire he had a second ago. "That's not very threatening."
"Stop patronizing me!" You whined childishly.
"YAH!!" Yoon whacked you both over the head with a wooden spoon. "STOP SCARING TONIGHT'S DINNER!!"
You were apparently terrorizing the nearby forest animals, practicing your slogans so that in a battle, you had a handful to pick from. Yoon was not impressed with your idea.
You shot him an innocent look and Zeno copied you. He glowered, and you shrunk back from his angry gaze, hiding behind the Ouryuu. Zeno chuckled, casting a look over his shoulder to see you staring back at him wide-eyed.
The array of animals before you had absolutely no idea what was going on and you were not going to try to explain it, lest you would get scolded at by mother again.
You grinned mischievously at Zeno as Yoon turned away and the animals all scattered, using the distraction as a diversion to escape.
"What say we practice on a bit more of a likely audience?"
Zeno laughed after as you bounded off into the night, doubling over at his stomach as he distinctly heard Jae-ha cry out and the scuffling that followed. It would appear that you had made contact with your target.
He couldn't keep the smile from stretching across his face as he heard his earlier words being repeated by you, only to have the Ryokuryuu reply, "Isn't that Zeno's line?"
If the thump that shattered the silence was anything to go by, Zeno was guessing that you were less than pleased with his answer. He traveled towards the sound, and found you hunched over a now distraught Jae-ha.
He really wouldn't mind eternity if it was with you.
Thank you... Zeno thought silently, sending a prayer up to the heavens. Thank you for Y/N, I'll treasure her forever.

World Upside Down (Bullied!Shy!Reader x Big Brother!Dragons+Hak) Modern AU
Tumblr media
Words: 2.3k
"Yona!!" You cried, bursting into her room with tears streaming down your face.
"Y/N?!" She hurried over to you. "What's wrong?!"
You tossed your phone to her in mortification. Her eyes widened in shock as they landed on the post. Someone had taken a picture of you doing something quirky, and posted it to social media. The comments were extremely toxic, and hundreds of people had already viewed it.
"Oh no..." Yona let your phone fall back down to the mattress, engulfing you in a hug.
You were sobbing into her shoulder, completely overwhelmed with humiliation and embarrassment. It might not seem like a very big deal to some, but to you, this felt you were exposed. Your privacy, invaded.
Yona heard the rapid footfalls of her housemates and a second later, her bedroom door was flung open again. In came five very worried, very ready to beat up anyone who made you cry, older brothers.
You couldn't calm down enough to answer their frantic questions. Zeno immediately went over to you, hugging you tightly and whispering reassuring words in your ear. Shin-ah was right behind him, placing his pet squirrel, Ao, on your shoulder. The furry creature rubbed her cheek against yours, making you let out a tearful laugh. Shin-ah and Zeno smiled softly at the sound.
Kija was wailing and crying with you, unsure of how to help, but certainly ready to be of assistance however he could. Jae-ha was braced against the wall, the farthest away from you and you reached out your arms. Silently begging for a hug.
He walked over without hesitation, dropping down beside you and embracing you closely, planting a small kiss on your hair. Hak's gaze was murderous as Yona handed him your phone. Jae-ha looked up questioningly at the younger and his body tensed in fury as Hak showed him the screen. Kija's mouth dropped open in shock that someone would say something so mean about you, then he stormed out of the room.
Jae-ha broke apart from you. Your cries had reduced to sniffles by now, and you were trying desperately to wipe away the tears that had rolled down your face. Shin-ah's lips drew back in a snarl as Hak passed your phone to him, and the only indication that Zeno was bothered was the slight darkening of his eyes.
"Oh hell no." Hak stormed past Jae-ha who didn't try to stop him, the elder even turning on his heel to follow him out. "They're going to pay."
There was a maniacal glint in Kija's eye. "No one messes with our sister." He declared.
"They better stay out of our way." Shin-ah's normally soft voice was hard with rage. Then he shrugged noncommittally. "Or not. I'll kill them either way."
Hak ordered, "Kija, bring the guns."
"Got it." The white-haired man ran to the room where they stored all of their weapons. They had a surprising surplus of them that would be alarming if you had never seen them fight before.
Hak owned a gun range, the military regularly using it for practice. You had no idea how that all came to be. There were rumors floating around that he was secretly a government operative, and in all honesty, you wouldn't be too surprised if he was.
Kija, strangely, was rather good with extendable metal claws that he had made in high school. They were crafted from steel and made to imitate the claws of a dragon. He rarely parted with them and they were his go-to weapon in a fight.
Jae-ha specialized in Capoeira, a fluid style of martial arts that used acrobatics to evade attacks while offensively utilizing kicks and punches. He was also quite skilled with knives. Scarily so. It was a good thing you weren't on his bad side, not that he would have the heart to hurt you even if you did.
Shin-ah knew swordsmanship from his adoptive father, who was also named Ao, who taught him at a young age. Zeno tended to prefer defensive tactics, but you've seen him fight offensively before and it was quite a force to be reckoned with.
Then, Hak's announcement shocked you back into reality.
"What?!"
"Yeah, Shin-ah, that sword's a good idea." The seriousness in Jae-ha's voice alarmed you.
"Now, wait a second!" You protested.
Zeno's normally cheerful personally shifted to something ferocious."We got their names right? They won't live to see another day."
Protective Zeno was surprisingly dark.
"Hang on a second!" You spread your arms in the doorway, preventing them from leaving. They could've easily all pushed past you, but they didn't. They looked down at you curiously, the blood-thirst heavy in the air. "You shouldn't kill them!!"
"Why not?" Zeno asked innocently. "They hurt our baby sister. They have to pay."
Shin-ah nodded silently, tapping the hilt of his sword against the palm of his hand threateningly. He was more than ready for them.
You sighed exasperatedly, sending a pleading look to Yona. "Can you at least convince Hak for me?" You begged.
The Thunder Beast peered closely at you. "Convince me of what?"
You threw up your hands. "This is not a good idea! What happens afterwards! They're going to come again-"
"Actually," Jae-ha stated flatly, raising a hand to interrupt you. "They won't be alive so you don't need to worry about that."
"What about how much trouble you'll get in?!" You were grasping at straws here. They really didn't seem eager to let go of their vengeance.
Kija shrugged nonchalantly. "Seems like a small price to pay for protecting you."
He had metal claws in his grip, and handed Hak several firearms.
Shin-ah nodded in agreement with his older brother. Zeno reached over, patting you on the head lightly. "If you really don't want us to, Zeno will listen! But Zeno cannot speak for the others."
You gave him a weak smile, biting your lip.
You really had no idea what to do.
Yona came over, placing a reassuring hand on your shoulder, then turned her burning violet gaze onto your brothers.
"Let's go."
You sputtered in surprise as they all left, and you made no motion to stop them. You sunk to the floor, with your face in your hands.
This wasn't going to end well.
It wasn't until hours later that they returned. Your worried gaze scanned them automatically for injuries, but there was no blood in sight. You breathed a sigh of relief. They were okay.
"Y/N!!" You looked up as you saw Yoon speeding towards you. He crashed into you, wrapping his arms around your shoulders. "Are you alright?!"
You nodded against his neck, eyes closing. It had been a while since you last saw him, he was so busy with medical school. Even though he was young, he was nothing short of a genius, and after he had run into Hak and Yona one day, your little group had taken him under your wing.
You pulled back from the hug, addressing the apprehensive group before you. "Where did you all go?"
Yona beamed brightly at you, and even Hak cracked a genuine smile, handing you back your phone. You hadn't even noticed that it was missing, too distracted by the turmoil of events that had all happened so fast.
You looked down hesitantly, but what your eyes landed on made them water with overwhelming joy.
They had gone into the city, and taken a series of pictures. Each had one word in it, with the gang all pointing to it excitedly.
They made up the sentences: Y/N's the best! We love Y/N!! There's no one like her!!
The caption made fresh tears fall down your face. You were guessing Yona had written it, but you could spot the elements of your brothers' influence in it.
"There's no one like her. She's the goofiest, most crazy, lovable, most caring, kind and faithful person anyone could ever hope to have. We're so lucky to be in her circle of friends, and we're proud of who she is!! If anyone's got a problem with that, you don't know what you're missing out on."
The comments were largely positive this time around. More people had liked the post than had seen the other video of you, and you felt like you were going to cry again. There were still some ones who didn't have anything nice to say, but you were so touched and moved by your friends that it didn't seem to matter anymore.
"Ah, damn it!" Hak tugged at his hair roughly. Kija frowned at your tears. "I knew we should've killed them instead!"
"No!" You cried out, yanking your phone back to your chest as Hak moved to grab it. "This is perfect." Your heart felt warm all over.
"Thank you." You said softly, looking down at your feet.
They all smiled fondly at you, happy that you liked their gift. Yona had to talk them all down, despite wanting to do less than ethical things to the bullies too. She was proficient in archery, and Hak was teaching you how to handle a sniper rifle.
"Come here, you rare beasts." Yoon announced, holding up several bags of groceries that you didn't notice before. "And Y/N and Yona. It's time for dinner."
Hak complained about how he wasn't a dragon, so it didn't apply to him, and Yoon promptly whacked him over the head. You giggled, and Shin-ah looked at you happily, glad to hear that sound again.
He couldn't stand the sound of you crying, he hated it more than anything else in the world. It also made Jae-ha's heart break when you were sad, especially if he couldn't do anything about it.
Whenever Hak saw you were upset, he wanted to do something immediately to fix the problem, but sometimes you just needed him to stay with you and hear you out. Zeno's presence always cheered you up and made you smile, and Kija's antics usually had the same result.
You seemed to put the negativity from this morning behind you. Smiling brightly, you followed Yoon into the kitchen as he continued to berate the self-proclaimed Thunder Beast.  The rest of them filed in eventually, Zeno ducked into his room.
"No, don't put that there!" Yoon smacked Hak's hand which was dangling a piece of carrot above the boiling water away from the pot. "Yona, wait-"
Sauce flew clear across the room, painting the wall the same shade of red as her hair. You were sitting on the counter, watching the craziness unfold with your mouth dropped open.
"Argh!" The pretty boy was starting to get fed up. "Okay, I need to cook the meat first. Jae-ha... cut that so I can season it."
The green-haired man nodded obediently but tripped over Shin-ah who was lying in the middle of the floor, causing the food in his hand to go tumbling down to the ground. Shin-ah reflexively brought his hand up to catch the falling meat, but that set off another chain reaction as Yona also dived for it. She crashed into Shin-ah and Jae-ha landed on top of her heavily.
In a second, Hak heaved Jae-ha to his feet, getting in close to his face.
"Yah!" Yoon yelled, straining to be heard above the noise. "If you're going to fight, go outside!"
Jae-ha was holding up his hands innocently, protesting against Hak's grip on the front of his shirt. He broke free, only to back away into Yoon, who was stirring the soup. The spoon he was holding clattered loudly to the tile floor.
Your eyes widened as he whipped around and everyone cringed at the anger in his eyes.
"GET OUT OF MY KITCHEN!!!"
They all scurried out, thoroughly chastised by mother. You hesitantly dropped down from the counter, making your way over the boy who was jerkily preparing the food.
"Yoon?" Your soft voice was timid and he turned around abruptly, tension easing as he saw the uncertainty swimming in your eyes.
He sighed, the sound echoing around the nearly empty kitchen. "Do you want to help?"
You nodded eagerly, lighting up at the idea. Yoon gave you a lopsided smile. "Cut the vegetables. I'll rescue the meat."
You two worked in tandem seamlessly. In no time at all, dinner was ready and Yoon was gathering the adults on the couch in the living room.
Once they were all lined up, you stifled a giggle as you noticed the varying degrees of guilt on their faces. Only Zeno was the one who looked confused as the why the boy in front of him had smoke blowing out of his ears.
"Now look here." Yoon reprimanded, jabbing a finger at the gang. "We're supposed to be cheering up Y/N because of what happened earlier today."
You stiffened, the reality of this morning's events flooding back to you and overtaking your mind. However, you could still hear Yoon as he continued his speech.
"Behave yourselves, or else," His bright blue eyes flashed in warning. "No dinner for a week."
They all bowed, "Yes, mother."
"I DON'T REMEMBER GIVING BIRTH TO ANY OF YOU!!" He shouted in annoyance.
You laughed, the dynamic would forever be something consistent for you. The bullies faded into the background as you focused on the way your brothers roughly bantered with each other, pulling Yona into the chaotic mix.
They had shown you that people will do and say whatever they wanted to, but you had people who loved you no matter what. They loved you for you, and that'll forever stay with you.

Loyalty and Love (Police Officer!Jae-ha x Shy!Reader x Military Officer!Kija)
Tumblr media
Warning: harassment
Words: 2.4k
"Come on, girlie, gimmie a smile!"
You were getting harassed by this guy who would not get a clue, letting hair fall into your face as you increased your walking speed. But he was persistent and chased you through the streets of traffic. Your trembling hands fumbled with your phone, trying desperately to press the speed dial for one of your two partners to come and save you when it slipped through your fingers.
The screen shattered upon impact with the concrete and cold dread set in the pit of your stomach as alcohol-laced breath panted against your neck.
Scrambling away, you tried to employ what Jae-ha had taught you to do in a situation like this, but the man overpowered you easily, twisting your wrist as you went to jab him in the eyes. His eyes narrowed and he sneered at you.
You shied away from him as he stuck his face close to yours, silent but clearly terrified. No matter how much you struggled, he pinned your wrists above your head, avoiding your poorly-aimed kicks to his groin to get him off of you.
Then, all of the sudden, the pressure was gone.
A stream of white hair crossed your vision and your eyes widened in shock.
Kija scoffed in disgust as he shoved the man off of you, lip curling back in a snarl. "Refrain from touching her if you desire to keep your head attached to your shoulders."
He acted as a wall between you and him, hands planted firmly on his hips as his broad shoulders blocked you from his view.
You fell back with a squeak as another hand tugged your wrist and you twisted to look up at your rescuer. Mouth dropping in astonishment, you exclaimed, "Jae-ha?!"
His beautiful, violet eyes had gone black with fury and his jaw was clenched as he tried to hold himself back from losing his temper in front of you.
The thing was, neither one of them were supposed to be here. Jae-ha had patrol on the opposite side of the city and Kija was supposed to be out of town until this weekend. How they managed to get there so fast was beyond you, but you were incredibly grateful they arrived when they did.
On the flip side, you had never seen either of them this livid before.
If you were the man, you would've done the smart thing and fled the scene, but no. He just had to take it a step further despite the fuming men beside you.
"Police!!" The creep shouted, face beet red with embarrassment and rage, waving his arms to catch the attention of the patrol car that had just pulled up to the curb. "These men are harassing my girlfriend and they're drunk!! They need to be arrested for being intoxicated in public!!"
You physically recoiled at the false mention of being this bastard's girlfriend and clearly your boyfriends didn't appreciate that. By now, your situation had gathered quite a crowd, and everyone was watching and waiting to see what the officers would do.
Two figures exited the police car, one especially tall with dark hair and the other just as intimidating despite being a bit smaller in stature than his partner.
They approached slowly but purposefully, striding forward until they were directly in front of him. Towering over him, the dark-haired man drawled, "Your girlfriend?"
The man nodded curtly, assuming that any suspicions would be let go now that he had clarified his claim, but he was so wrong.
The officer's partner lowered his sunglasses, revealing piercing golden eyes slitted with blatant hatred. The drunk stumbled back at the malice, eyes beginning to dart warily around as he started to get a clue.
The crowd started to murmur amongst themselves, and nearly missed the cocky grin the taller officer flashed. A small piece of metal glinted on his chest as he stepped into the sun, and it read, "Officer Hak".
Hak grinned with way too much confidence for it simply to be a coincidence. "What do you say, Shin-ah? Should we let him go and escort the lady home?"
His partner raised his chin, pointing soundlessly towards the green-haired man still standing behind you.
"Ask the boss." He said quietly, but with an air of authority that left no room for questioning.
The man's face went pale as he followed their stare behind him and it finally sunk in.
Any trace of usual amusement was gone as Jae-ha lifted up the hem of his shirt, revealing his badge and gun strapped to his hip.
"You see," Hak began, circling the man like a vulture, smirking deviously. "That girl is well known around this area. She's a close friend of mine, and you went and pissed off her boyfriends, who are already as overprotective as hell."
"Jae-ha's a lieutenant in our district." Shin-ah continued quietly but steadily, mouth pressed in a hard line. "And Kija serves in the military that protects your rights and freedoms. The amount of nerve you have to claim that she's yours is pathetic. We should arrest you."
Floundering for a feasible reason to cover his ass from these infuriated cops and coming up empty, the pathetic excuse for a human being scampered off with his tail tucked in between his legs.
With him finally gone, you let out the breath you didn't know you had been holding, squeezing Jae-ha's hand in thanks for his support. He gazed down at you in concern, violet eyes darkening to black when he saw the bruises forming on your wrists from where he had pinned you. Kija followed his gaze, and his clenched fists nearly tore his uniform.
"Thank you both." You bowed gratefully, unaware of the storm brewing from your partners. "I'm so sorry for the trouble."
Hak saluted in such a ridiculous way that had you giggling.
"No trouble at all." He reassured you easily. "It is our job after all. Are you sure you'll be alright?"
You nodded, glancing up at Kija, who had drifted close to your unoccupied side.
Shin-ah stepped forward. "Come down to the station later and we'll take a statement."
You dipped your head again to show you understood but blinked your eyes in shock when Jae-ha shook his head firmly.
"She's not going anywhere for the rest of the day." He stated firmly, shooting you a sharp look when you started to suggest that they should let it go. "Up the patrol. Find him."
Shin-ah and Hak bowed obediently, zipping off down the street and just like that, everyone else went about their day. Amidst the bustling city, you were left in your own bubble with Kija and Jae-ha.
You played with your fingers nervously, unsure of what to do as the red auras surrounding your usually gentle and loving boyfriends increased.
"Can... Can we go home?" You asked anxiously, scolding yourself for how timid it came out.
They nodded automatically. Jae-ha's hand landed on the small of your back as he guided you through the crowd and Kija took your hand, practically bulldozing his way through. You ducked your head shyly, biting your lip at how much attention they were drawing but you couldn't help how safe that made you feel after this morning's episode.
Kija scooped you up the instant Jae-ha pulled up to your townhome, carrying you through the threshold without hesitation despite your many soft objections that you were too heavy.
Pressing a sweet peck to the crown of your head, he set you down on the sofa, arranging a fluffy blanket over your shaking form. "Wait here for a moment, Y/N."
A desperate cry tore from your throat as they stepped towards your shared bedroom, reaching out for them instinctively before pulling back abruptly, cheeks coloring in shame.
Jae-ha dropped down to his knees, by your side in a split second. His gaze was trained on the way you were clutching your hands to your chest, recognizing what you needed automatically.
"C'mere, sweetheart." He murmured softly, gathering you up in his arms. "I've got you."
He gave Kija the go-ahead to grab what he needed from the bathroom as he ran his long fingers through your hair soothingly.
Your eyes fluttered shut at the calming motion, head thumping on his chest as you lost the strength to keep it up by yourself. His chest rumbled against your ear as he hummed one of your favorite songs.
You had met him at university, sitting in the corner of the library with earbuds stuck in his ears. Back then, you remembered there were rumors about how he used to get around. Partying, doing drugs, everything your parents told you to stay away from, but you didn't stay away from him. Intrigued by what he was listening to that had the playboy so focused, you tapped on his shoulder in a moment of bravery, catching his attention just long enough to shyly relay your curious question.
From there, a friendship sparked until it developed into something deeper than either of you could control.
And the only reason why you refused to be with him after you both graduated was because of Kija.
He had caught your interest from the get-go the second you spotted him in your anthropology lecture. The disgust on his beautiful face as the professor showed a descriptive diagram of insects on the board was hilarious and you burst out laughing in the middle of his teaching. After you apologized, you were thoroughly embarrassed and wished that you could crawl in a hole and die.
But your little display caught his attention and he approached you after class with the promise of taking you out to lunch the following day as long as you agreed to help him get through the lectures by sitting next to him.
You readily agreed to his proposal, but you couldn't squander the guilt you felt as you started to split your time between the handsome, green-haired playboy and the elegant, white-haired study buddy. It didn't make any sense to feel ashamed since you weren't with either one of them, but your feelings for both was what put it in perspective and in a last ditch attempt to get over the silly crush, you cut off contact.
Ending your friendship. Or so you thought.
The pounding on the door of your apartment woke you up at 2 am, and as soon as you opened it, in stumbled your drunk friends. Things only escalated from there. Feelings were revealed in the heat of an argument and you were speechless.
Never in a million years did you think that both of them would be harboring strong feelings for you, and even though you wanted them that night just as bad as they obviously wanted you, the three of you decided to wait until they were completely sober.
All of your insecurities the next morning were washed away as the smell of bacon and buttered toast wafted through your apartment. Kija was cooking and Jae-ha was in the middle of setting the table when you walked in, and their heads shot up when you promptly burst into tears.
You confessed that you thought it was all a dream, or that you would wake up and they would be gone. They embraced you tightly, professing their love for you once more before sealing it with a sweet kiss from a blushing Kija and a searing hot one from a smirking Jae-ha.
Now, years later, here you were. Still considering them your safe place.
Kija returned with a roll of gauze and bowl of cold water. "Y/N, let me see please."
Extending your arms timidly, you glanced up at Jae-ha, who shifted you slightly so that your back was pressed against his firm chest. He kissed the top of your head encouragingly and you bit your lip as your other partner cleaned and bandaged the bruised area.
Frowning deeply at the discoloration, Kija's jaw locked with the restraint of holding himself back from walking out the front door to find and end the creep who had dared to touch you.
"Hey... I'm okay..." You whispered quietly, offering up a reassuring smile. "My heroes came just in time."
And just like that, the dark atmosphere became bright, lighting up only at your unintentional command and the two men chuckled.
Jae-ha brushed back your hair, giving Kija room to peck your temple. His smile was slight, but filled with amusement as his rage started to simmer down. "We're glad you're alright, sweetheart."
Kija lifted your hand gently, kissing your knuckles, eyes brimming with love as they landed on yours. "We'll take care of you, Y/N. We'll keep you safe."
Leaning forward, you rested your forehead against his, a smile curling at the corner of your lips. "I know..." You breathed. "Thank you."
He gave you an eskimo kiss that had you giggling, and the sound warmed his heart. You hopped up to your feet, announcing quietly that you were going to go change into some pjs and the two of them let you go. But as his gaze found Jae-ha's, his blue eyes darkened.
They had made friends. Powerful people who happened to owe them a favor. Not that they needed that excuse to go after that man.
Yoon would be the first they would call. An analyst and a skilled strategist. He fooled everybody with his age, and Jae-ha was the first never to underestimate him, earning the pretty boy genius' loyalty for life. He would know what to take care of first.
Zeno usually hung around the poorer parts of town, helping anyone in any way that he could. The spunky and energetic golden-haired boy had a ton of connections, and would make sure they had eyes on the operation the whole time.
Grabbing his phone as it vibrated, Jae-ha barely had to look at it to know who it was. "Hak already contacted me. They found him."
Kija narrowed his eyes. "Then let's go."
They called Yona to come over and keep you company until they finished exacting their revenge.
No matter what, they would protect you. Even if it meant diverting every resource they had at their fingertips to ensure it. You were their entire world.
There was no way anyone would get away with treating you less than that. You deserved better, and damn it, they were going to teach this bastard a lesson.
They would let him live. But just barely.

His Treasure.
Yona of the Dawn | Akatsuki no yona
Shinah x Reader - Christmas!AU
My Yona of the Dawn x Reader List for more one-shots! Check it out!
The firewood was heavy, and gave (Y/N) plenty of splinters to complain about, Yun on the edge with his low-tolerance to anyone kicking up a stink. He couldn't do all the work by himself. The noisy beasts, sheltered princess and tag-along girl needed to be taught what manual labour meant. They were all callow.
The snow mysteriously somehow made its way into (Y/N)'s shoes, freezing her toes when it would melt into cold water. Her nose was sniffing, her ears were blocked, and she was hungry. Surely making dinner wasn't usually this bothersome. Maybe mothers really are super-human after all, she thought.
"How much further?"
"Not far."
"That doesn't tell me anything!"
Yun sighed. "If you put your back into it you'll be able to move faster."
"My back hurts!"
"Not my fault you don't workout enough."
The pair continued to trudge through the snow until they saw steam rising above distant trees. It could only have been coming from the hot spring inn they were residing at until the weather was at least a little more bearable to travel through. The owner, an elder women, did not provide much, thus Yun dragging (Y/N) into the cold of the approaching dusk to help him out. It was her scheduled night to assist 'Mother' with the chores anyway, previously discussed in days passed.
"See? It's right there."
"You could have just told me if you don't want to put up with my complaining."
They returned with the logs in their arms, (Y/N) following Yun to their room to start the fireplace. After much struggle, since the snow had dampened the wood, the flame was lit and the whole room instantly warmed up.
"Can I please have some free time now?" (Y/N) begged like a child.
"You're supposed to be helping me with dinner too, you know."
"I'll get one of the others to come help instead. I'm a really bad cook anyway."
"Fine! Just go."
(Y/N) literally sprinted out the doors of the room and searched for where the rest of her friends would be. Probably all enjoying each other's company much more than she was enjoying her day full work.
In the distance, she could see bright yellow hair bouncing up and down. She started creeping up behind the bouncy yellow dragon the closer she got, and pounced on him from behind, giving him a tackling hug.
"Miss (Y/N)~~! You're back!" Zeno giggled and squeezed her tightly. His hugs were the best in the world, and they fixed everything. He grabbed both of her hands, and swung them side to side. "Zeno missed you!"
"Back already, (Y/N)?" Kija approached the both of them from behind Zeno. "Aren't you meant to be helping Yun with dinner preparations? It's your night."
"There were a lot of bugs when getting the firewood, so I wanted to get away as fast as I could! Surely you can understand, Kija," (Y/N) lied.
"O-Of course! No one sh-should have to go through that torment!" Kija started jumping out of his skin every few seconds, thinking a creep-crawly had latched itself onto him. Zeno and (Y/N) had to laugh.
"Where are the others?"
"Zeno saw them down by the hot spring, but Blue Dragon decided to go for a walk."
"Shinah? Why?"
"I think he said he was looking for you actually. He wanted to make sure where you and Yun went was safe."
"Oh, I should go look for him then."
In the end all three of them walked around the inn together, unexpectedly meeting up with the others in the midst of their exploring, Yun still by himself back at the group's allocated dorm. After Hak, Jeaha and the princess had asked why she wasn't helping Yun, she told them the same small fib she told Kija.
"What? Since when are you a wuss like White Snake?"
"Come on, (Y/N) dear. Even I thought you were better than to skip doing your chores."
"You're no better, Jeaha. You haven't done a single thing. You jump away every time."
"'Jumping' makes me sound like a frog, my sweet (Y/N). I'd much prefer the term 'flying.' It sounds more beautiful than a slimy amphibian."
"You're a droopy-eyed frog from now on."
"Hak, that's mean!"
Up on a hill (Y/N) could just barely see a strange looking face with white fluff looking out onto the horizon. She smiled, her heartbeats feeling lighter than angel feathers. He was always so thoughtful of her-- looking out for her at every turn she took, making sure she was never alone, there was plenty of good reasons why it was him she was closest with.
She quickly bid the group "see you later," and jogged her way over to the blue dragon. When Ao tapped his shoulder and pointed to (Y/N)'s direction, he turned his head and his mouth curved upwards, somehow making it seem so delicate. Him smiling was such a rare occurrence, so for the very gesture to be directed at her made it all the more special seeing him again.
"Shinah!" she happily called out to him. The snow continued to fall, slowly blanketing everything around them in beautiful white fluff. The two watched the fiery golden orb sink behind the horizon from atop the hill, the day finally coming to an end.
"I missed you today," he said quietly.
"Me too, Shinah. I wish it wasn't my day to help Yun today. I would have gone exploring instead."
"Why?"
"The village Yun and I went to get the firewood from have tonnes of decorations up for Christmas. It looked so beautiful!"
"Christ...mas?"
"Don't tell me you've never celebrated Christmas before." Her full attention was on him, her eyes trying to search for his through the black holes of his mask. When he shook his head, (Y/N)'s mouth was agape and her eyes widened, but it looked like she was sad.
"My village didn't do celebrations..."
(Y/N) mentally hit herself for forgetting Shinah's origins. He wasn't even given a name when he was born and his mother killed herself after he was born. Of course he would never have known what Christmas is.
"Come with me. Tonight. There's a Christmas festival happening in the village!"
"But it's dangerous at night."
"Not with you around! Come on, it'll be fun! Word is they have some big finale at the end of everything! Please?" She pleaded as she grabbed his hands in hers. He couldn't help but look away when she'd been staring so intently at his mask. He didn't like her having to look at it; he knew it wasn't a pretty thing to look at.
"...I'd like that." He finally gave in.
(Y/N) did a mini celebration and clapped excitedly. "Alright, it's settled! But everyone else has to be asleep first, okay? They can't know we're going out without them."
Shinah wasn't sure why they had to be so secretive about it, but he went along with it anyway. A night with (Y/N), at a festival as beautiful as she says it is, would surely to be a night to remember.
It felt like forever the two had to wait until everyone was sound asleep, especially Hak and Jeaha who were the night owls of the group. The dragon and the 'tag-along girl' met outside of their rooms in the dead of the night, and tiptoed on the creaky floorboards as they made their escape.
The village was much closer than (Y/N) remembered and was fairly easy to find. With Shinah's gift of incredible eyesight, the multitude of fairy lights was just about the only thing he could see in the dark. He weaved through the trees as he lead her in the darkness, and all (Y/N) could think was how much fun she was already having.
Once they reached the edge of the village, it was already a sight to behold. There were so many people, it was impossible for everyone to be from this village alone. Word must've gotten around and so people travelled for this sole event. Children wearing scarves and mittens were playing around in the powdery snow, a group of carolers sang christmas songs, and set-up stalls were selling all kinds of holiday-themed homemade goods.
The night was cold and Shinah and (Y/N) didn't even think to find warm coats before their departure. Right on cue, Shinah slipped a warm coat over (Y/N)'s shoulders as he did on himself. They were matching in knitted patterns and wool colours, decorated in little stars and christmas trees. She was going to treasure it forever.
A snowball suddenly hit Shinah from behind. Upon turning around the little children were startled at sight of his mask at first, but then smiled and laughed again. Shinah looked quizzically at (Y/N) as she began making her own snowballs, and shortly a snowball fight had broken out in the village. She gave the blue dragon a brief lesson in the art before resuming her appointed post as 'cannonball fire-er' by a little boy.
It was then that was the first time (Y/N) had ever heard Shinah laugh before.
"Hey, Mister!" Shinah looked down as a little girl tucked on the hem of his knitted christmas coat. "I think your beard is on the wrong way. Santa's beard is always on the front," she whispered, pointing out his fluff coming from behind his mask. "And he wears a red suit, not a blue one!" She giggled as she ran off to rejoin with her friends.
It wasn't the fact that he stared after her because she was possibly calling him fat, no. It was the one mystery that continued to ring through his head.
Why isn't anyone running away from me?
The families greeted (Y/N) and Shinah with warmth, offering them hot drinks and food they'd made. It was a feeling that he'd never felt before; the warmth of family. He started to grow a little anxious and the feeling being so foreign to him, and stuck like glue to (Y/N)'s side for the rest of the night to come.
Clusters of villagers began walking to an open field a little further than Shinah and (Y/N) had walked, squeals of excitement echoing in the night sky.
(Y/N) gasped. "It's starting! Quickly, Shinah!" She grabbed onto his hand and dragged him into the bustling crowd. Once he regained his bearings, his fingers linked with hers and they stood hand-in-hand.
He watched her as she looked expectantly at the twinkling night sky with everyone else. Her eyes dazzled like the stars, the snowflakes dancing on her eyelashes seeming to make her more breath-taking than before.
A loud bang made Shinah practically jump out of his skin, but the vibrant colours suddenly lighting up the sky melted away the initial fear. He was okay with the loud noises as long as he kept on holding (Y/N)'s hand. Green and red were the only colours in the sky; the appropriate scheme for the upcoming holiday. They looked like falling stars. He wanted to keep one forever. How great they were to him.
"(Y/N)..." he quietly spoke up whilst a few stray fireworks still remained after the main display, he and (Y/N) the only ones standing in the snowy field.
She felt his hand lightly squeeze hers. "What's up?"
"Am I... strange?"
(Y/N) repositioned herself to be standing directly in front of him, tilting his head down to make 'eye-contact' with her, her face completely serious. "Why are you thinking like this? Aren't you having fun?"
"I am, but... Do you think I'm the strangest? From the other dragons?"
She paused as she pondered. "Well, the only thing I think is strange is your mask." Her finger traced the cracked lines of the headpiece. "But I like strange. We're all a little strange."
Out of nowhere, Shinah smiled, and then giggled, and then laughed. (Y/N) was bewildered. This was twice in one night now, and she got to hear it firsthand when she was alone with him.
"Will you finally let me see your eyes?"
As if someone was about to hurt him, he shrunk back. But he didn't shake his head in stubborn defiance. (Y/N) pushed.
"You don't need to be afraid, Shinah. It's only me. We're alone here."
"But I don't want to hurt you."
"I promise you won't, Shinah. I know you won't hurt me-- you can't. It's not part your nature. You're not a monster."
He looked down at the ground as (Y/N) inched closer to him. He let her. Her hands gently grasped the edges of the mask, and his hands were suddenly on top of hers. Together, they both lifted away the mask and let it drop to the ground.
Two alluring golden eyes glowed brilliantly in the moonlight. The snow falling between their faces were tinged gold with the light of his eyes. She couldn't bring herself to blink, to miss out on even one second of seeing something as priceless as this. Her hands cupped his cheeks as she breathed like she was breathless. How on earth could someone be forced to hide such a treasure from this world?
This was it; it was one step closer to Shinah loving himself, and what a better time to do it than at a festival celebrating the love of family and friends.
"See?" She forced herself to whisper out, still completely hypnotised by his circled orbs. "You're not hurting me."
"I want to go home..." he mumbled. His voice sounded so much different when she could see his face. It sounded better. His hands wrapped around her shoulders and he pulled her close. "I want you looking at me with the fireworks to be the last thing I remember tonight."
She nodded as she smiled softly. Walking back into the forest of snowy trees, bidding families and children a merry christmas to come, they walked hand in hand, the blue dragon's golden eyes forever tattooed into (Y/N)'s mind.
In this season of giving, he shared his most precious treasure with her, and she will forever feel rich in his love.

At sunset the clouds gathered, bringing an earlier night, and the snow began to fall straight and steadily from a sky without wind, in a soft synchronized diffusion more confusing than the mini whirlwinds of the winter morning. It seemed to be a part of the thickening darkness, to be the winter night itself descending on them layer by layer.
Her heart beat in time with every foot she put down as she glided across the ice, as if her own heart were flying alongside her with wings of its own. The butterflies in her stomach she got were definitely wings she could feel, but she felt the thrill in that. Nothing alike the unsettling emotion of nerves, but more like the sensation of something so wonderful as watching a bird of paradise take flight.
Every year, the snow would always be the same, yet her experiences would vary greatly. No matter how many times she would step on the ice, it was something of a new adventure she wished was tangible enough to put in a treasure box. She wished it was possible even more so, now that she could spend her favourite time of year with the people she treasured, as much as they treasured her.
"...Where did you even find the money to get those skates, (Y/N)? We haven't been to a town for a couple of days at least... And how did you get money at all?" Yun interrogated.
"Oh, I took some out of your satchel," she replied with no care in the world as her hands were beside her like elegant swans. "The water always freezes at this time of year. You know how much I love skating, right?"
"You know how much I love to have food to eat, right?"
"Wow~ You're so good, (Y/N)!" the red-haired princess awed at (Y/N)'s incredible beauty. The sheltered princess never knew that people would partake in such activities, let alone have an amazing talent for it. (Y/N) was skating in all kinds of ways, like an actor that had rehearsed their part in an endless count. She herself was a sight to behold as her face lit up – she was clearly in her element.
"You guys should skate, too!" (Y/N), without trouble, skidded to a stop and faced her friends. "I bought a pair for all of you! They're next to my bag," she said as she pointed to the bundle of skates tied in pairs. Small bells decorated the boots, most likely increasing their original value for the sake of the holiday season.
"What? (Y/N), how much money did you spend!?" By the time Yun's anger had reached its pinnacle, the others had already scrambled to get their fitting size of skates, eager to attempt to skate the same as (Y/N) demonstrated.
"Come on, Mister~" the yellow dragon patted Yun's head as he desperately tried to convince himself he had more money left than he counted. "It's Christmas!"
"Zeno's right, Yun. Enjoy this while you can," Hak called out as he tried to step onto the iced-over lake as coolly as possible around Yona. "We'll have to keep moving again pretty soon. Just have fun, will you?"
"Yeah! I bought you a pair too, you know~" Once Yun saw that all his friends were on the ice, he gave up.
"Fine... only because I like Christmas."
Of course, they weren't all as graceful as (Y/N)'s swan-like figure, but they were certainly more than capable of skating at all. Yona had her own experience with dancing to a degree, and Jeaha obviously had the elegance of the dragon's leg blessed upon him – it was a given he was second best after (Y/N).
As (Y/N) paused her enjoyment, she noticed that the lake was short of one person. She looked where the land met the frozen lake, and saw the silent Blue Dragon watching all his friends from afar. A little bit sad that he was not joining them, she skated towards him.
"Shinah... why don't you skate with us?"
"I don't know how..." he said as he looked at his feet in embarrassment.
"Oh, come on. Look at Kija!" She pointed to the hopeless White Dragon as he continuously stumbled backwards and forwards, his large arm obviously being a disadvantage by throwing his balance completely off.
"There's a reason why snakes don't go on ice, you know..." Hak mumbled as he glided past the dragon warrior sitting on the ice.
(Y/N) stifled a chuckle. "You can't be any worse than him," she joked. Shinah continued to remain silent, even taking a small shuffle away from the ice she stood on. She huffed and pouted like a little girl not getting her way.
Taking matters into her own hands as her friends had their time of their lives, she made her way over to the lonely pair of skates waiting to be used. (Y/N) forced Shinah to sit on the ground as she proceeded to tie his skates on for him. The small jingle bells attached to the laces caught his eye, and he was immediately reminded of his past.
"Come on, I'll teach you!" (Y/N) smiled tenderly, instantly warming Shinah's heart and ridding of his dark memories. It was like the time just wouldn't allow him to think that way – Christmas time was a time for joy, after all.
"(Y/N)-" He clutched onto both of (Y/N)'s arms as he nearly fell forwards the moment he stepped onto the ice.
"It's alright, I won't let go... yet." She laughed as Shinah's grip on her hands tightened much more. It was interesting seeing him so vulnerable like this, and during such a fun activity at that. She wished he would be more open and allow himself to be like this more often, instead of playing the strong, silent hero.
(Y/N) skated backwards, mindful to avoid creating a domino effect with her friends behind her back, guiding Shinah like light in the dark. He took one step after the other, not exactly covering much distance. More like sliding with his blades in one place. She was just pulling him along.
"There you go...!" (Y/N) would encourage every now and then. She noticed his grip started to loosen ever so slightly. She shifted her position to be beside him rather than the front, still holding his hand as they slowly advanced together. He tried to keep his legs as steady as possible, trying to get used to the friction of ice he had never felt before.
"Am... I doing it?"
"Yeah, you are!" (Y/N) practically bounced in excitement for the blue dragon. Like the happiness had travelled through (Y/N) into Shinah's own body, he started taking more confident strides and stronger steps. Not too long after, he began to skate slightly ahead of (Y/N).
"Shinah, you're doing it!" Yona cheered after both Kija and Hak caught her from falling. The others all rooted for him as well, but Shinah was so focused that he blocked out all the noises around him, and didn't even realise that he had let go of (Y/N)'s hand. He jumped when he felt her hand slip back into his, thinking that her warm touch was still in his hand. She smiled, and even he managed to crack an only just noticeable grin.
The night rose, as it does not fall, and Shinah saw the beautiful moon in the lake's reflection. Instantly reminded of the name he was given, he closed his eyes as he took in the moment. It was late, and everyone else had stopped skating to fall asleep beside the warm fire. Yet (Y/N) and the Blue Dragon continued to skate in circles around the moon in the lake's centre, hand in hand.
"(Y/N)..."
"Yeah?"
"Thank you... for teaching me."
"That's okay. Think of the skates as a Christmas present from me." Shinah took a couple of strides ahead of (Y/N) so he was skating in front of her. She didn't realise that he had learnt how to skate backwards so quickly. Slowly he leaned forward, and gave her a small kiss on her cheek as he held both of her hands.
She slowed down as she felt herself becoming very hot, despite the cold temperature and falling snow. Thinking that she should return it, she timidly lifted up the dragon warrior's mask slightly and gave him a small peck on the lips.
To hide her blush from the bright moonlight even more she buried her face into his chest, turning it into an embrace which he happily returned, the sound of bells ringing through the air on the magical night.
