Akatsuki no Yona Chapter 252 Thoughts
Tumblr media
WOW. So that's where the dragons are going. LITERALLY INTO THE CHALICE. And Zeno’s medallion is the lid to the Chalice?! They are like genies in a bottle now or like pokemon in pokeballs. And Zeno is capturing them. ZENOOOOOOO!!!
He came back to get Kija as well and now he's completed his first part of his mission. Woah.
I want to state the obvious that Soo-won's goons are complete idiots for thinking they could take on Hak and a literal dragon. With the possibility of multiple dragons no less.
Once I saw Kija enter the battle I knew it was his turn to go dragon. He has to follow the pattern. And him getting severely injured confirmed this. So before I dissect this I want to express my love for the Kija moment. He confirmed Jaeha and Shinah did not die. They did not lose their powers either and are still of this world. Kija also accepts that it is not a terrible thing to go dragon. As long as he can protect Yona.
Tumblr media
Now back to WTF Zeno. This adds on to my previous post on speculations of Zeno. He confirmed took advantage of the taking of the Chalice by Chagol. And now has it himself. He is using it to put the dragons in it. Why? We can't say for sure, but I still remain to the belief that it is not for nefarious reasons. His means to an end may be questionable, but I believe that he means to ultimately help Yona and the dragons. Perhaps end the cycle? Start the prophecy for Yona to act? Perhaps putting them in the Chalice stops their lifespans from shortening further. It is interesting that he has to wait for them to become dragons to do it. Only in their dragon form can they enter the Chalice.
I've also speculated on the Chalice itself. It is the dragon warriors' link to the dragon powers of the Dragon gods between realms. We still don't know the exact mechanics of how it works. Putting them in the Chalice sends them where though? within a pocket dimension? Nearer to the gods? We still don't know what it all means for them to turn into dragons.
But to the eyes of Yona and co. It definitely looks like a villainous act. What will he do next? Will he leave Yona and co with some cryptic statement? Pose himself as the enemy? Will he stay and explain why he is doing this? Will it be reasonable enough for Yona and co. to agree with him? And to help him on the next step to take?

The claim that the four dragons came from drinking the waters of Lake Shinsui was brushed off as a lie by Keishuk, but like. Maybe something's happening with it after all. Maybe the stability of the dragons is deteriorating not just because someone is messing with the chalice, but because they're getting closer and closer to Shinsui.
Tumblr media
This is an odd setting for a group pic for the four dragons, I'm just saying

As promised, here's our girl Hay Lin!
The Four Dragons is still one of my favourite bits of W.I.T.C.H. mythology/lore, and I wanted to draw the girls with their respective elemental buddies for a long time.

So as you already saw on my Winx Sirenix redesigns and what I mentioned in another post: I wanted to share more about my Winx Club Sona.
However, her powers are linked to a change that I made in this Universe so I think it's better to first explain about the changes I made before blabbering about my Sona.
Winx Club Sona AU/Universe Changes
The first Change starts with the Great dragon.
I always thought it was weird how one dragon could be the origin of everything.
It just didn't make any sense to me how one element (aka fire) could create everything, and then the power opposite in season 2 was introduced, and then the water stars. It got confusing so let me tell you my idea in Form of a Legend.
I will make another post, kinda summarizing the main ideas and how everything works, so have fun!
Spoiler, it's long
Legend of the Four dragons
Before creation of the dimensions, there were four dragons:
the Fire Dragon,
the Earth Drake,
the Water Leviathan,
and the Sky Wyvern.
All four dragons combined their powers to create the Magic dimension, bringing magic and light into the world.
Earth created the environment, mountains and hills, decorating the world with flora.
Water brought the oceans, rivers and lakes into the world, making sure that both Earth and Sky can provide.
Sky took the water and created weather, freely working on its own in the air and atmosphere that she brought to life.
Fire brought light into the world, working together with the Sky to create day and night, bringing warmth into the dimensions.
By combining their magic together, they created the first fairy, born from pure light. Alongside the dragons fairy looked out for other creatures with the ability to harness magic. Together, they thought them about the magic the dragons provided:
Water, earth, fire, sky and light magic.
As time passed by, the Fire dragon surprised the people with a part of its Flame, giving them everlasting strength and warmth. The people across all universes started to worship the Fire dragon more due to the gift, giving him the name "the Great Dragon". A shadow of envy reached the other dragons, trying to poison their minds, especially working well with the Sky Wyvern,
How come only he got recognized?
All dragons worked together to create the universes.
Why only him?
Just because he gave them a part of its power?
These whispers drove the wyvern mad. The shadows chuckled as the Sky wyvern confronted the great dragon, but he denied all of it, saying that all people loved them equally.
But the wyvern didn't believe him.
Blinded by her anger, the darkness that was created alongside the dragons and their magic took the opportunity to consume the wyvern, working alongside with the the source of all dark magic:
The ancestral witches
With the wyvern's help, they stole a part of the dragon flame and created the shadow phoenix, ordering it to defeat the dragon.
But their plan failed.
The other dragon's power combined again and drove away the dark forces in the deep underground where it stayed hidden, waiting for the right moment to strike.
The other dragons soon found out about the cooperation and decided to punish them all. As the ancestral witches abandoned the sky wyvern, leaving her there to fend for herself, her corrupted heart burned with hatred and rage and started attacking them all. Due to her instability, the other three were forced to seal her away, taking away her powers and breaking them into shards, hiding them all over the magic dimensions.
The three dragons managed to seal away the weakened Sky Wyvern, trapping her in the Crystal of Power. Before her spirit was trapped in the crystal, she made an oath to break free from her prison, take back her power and bring calamity to both light and darkness.
After that incident, the dragons became hostile against each other, fearing that one of them would turn evil. The dragons split ways and kept to themselves, thinking it was the best thing to do.
As years passed, the dragons turned old and weak, realizing that they fulfilled their destiny. They decided to rest for eternity and each chose their resting place and a parting gift.
Before the Earth drake's death, she gifted the land of Linphea everlasting spring, creating the Black Willow and the tree of Life. She chose her resting place on an island far away, using her own body to create a mountain. Rumor says that if you find the island, you can still see the drake's silhouette as the base of the mountain.
The Water Leviathan chose the infinity ocean as his resting place. Before he left, he created the Water stars and gifted them to the land of Andros to protect them from any evil source. As he passed away, the Water stars and Dragon Flame's powers crashed against each other and were forced to be sealed away in a different universe to avoid any more chaos.
The Fire dragon was the last to go and choose a Keeper for the Dragon flame, giving them the ability to harness its power and to protect their people from any harm that might come in the future. As he closed his eyes on his Resting place being Domino, he could leave this world in peace, as he knew that everyone would be save forever.
If you made it to the end: congrats!
If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments!

Let’s talk about Zeno.
Now just what is Zeno up to? I'm not going to go 'Zeno is the final boss!' (although that would be fun) But this and the last chapter confirms Zeno is definitely up to something. We've had a few hints Zeno has some goal that was never told outright but we can make inferences based mostly on his back story. I and many others' best guess is that he wants to end the dragon cycle which includes no more dragon babies with short lives as well as no more immortality for himself. Which would mean he can finally die. That and/or the long suffering of the other dragons can end. There is no definite proof this is his main goal. But it's the best I can guess up to this point. Do I believe he has some nefarious villainous plan? No, not really. But we do wonder how far he's willing to go for it. We may be questioning 'means justify ends' types of morality questions.
Tumblr media
Another big question: Is what is happening now all through the actions of Zeno from the start? Personally I don't think so. I don't think Zeno went so far as to orchestrate Chagol burning Hiryuu castle and taking the Chalice. We saw Zeno's inner shock on that. What I think he is really doing is taking advantage of the current situation they landed in and directing it toward achieving his goals.
Now what exactly is he doing? So far we've had him mysteriously appearing in Yona's dream, having sort of a pseudo phantom presence to Yona and his fellow dragons. When Shinah discovers him, he ominously says 'Oh I've been caught', then Shinah disappears. Next we see him suddenly appearing to Yona and crew (teleportation?) and acting jolly and ignorant. Clearly an act to anyone reading. His reaction to Hak's question about their bodies being affected differently by the burning of the castle is even more strange. It's almost as if he had no idea what Hak was talking about. Some are even speculating this isn't Zeno at all, but an imposter, or that he is possessed by Chagol or something. It's a more outlandish theory but something yet to consider.
Some of his cryptic words are "Don't let it get away' "It's begun"
My first thought is that this is leading up to a big part of the prophecy. I believe Zeno may be capitalizing on the dragons' current situation. The burning of Hiryuu castle and the taking of the Chalice has led to the destabilizing of the bodies of the dragon warriors into actual dragons (There is a more in depth previous post about this). And all of his actions are to lead Yona and co. to something yet to happen. Especially Yona. It's her time to act in a way that will fulfill Zeno's current goals...which are hopefully for the good of all, but one still worries.
One of the major earlier Zeno lines is the fact that he is willing to turn his back on the dragon gods to achieve what he wants. So is Zeno going against what the dragon gods established to achieve his goals? And is his goal truly to end the dragon cycle to save future generations -and maybe even the current- and to release his immortality?
Tumblr media
We have had no insight on what the dragon gods think and what they are even doing ever since they gave some of their blood to the current dragon warriors. We also don't know the exact mechanics of what is going on with the dragon warriors. We do know this is unprecedented as far as dragon warriors go. Is what's happening to the dragon warriors right now going against what the dragon gods originally intended?
This is related to their link to the dragon gods. How strong is this link? And now the dragon warriors are more like actual dragons now than humans. Where does the dragon warrior end and where does the dragon god begin? We still have more questions than answers. Is Zeno currently acting against what the dragon gods want? What is it exactly? Is he trying to stop the pact? Overthrow the gods? Stop them from trying to get Hiryuu -Yona- to return to heaven? So many questions. And so much to speculate!

The four lights are the dragons. You've got the one on the far right representing Kija, the two in the middle, and then the one furthest left that's also growing a bit distant.

RIGHT Yona of the Dawn theory for the latest chapter, before the next chapter comes out and destroys it.
So, not Saying Yona has priestess abilities to see the future. I don’t think she does since all she’s mentioned is dreams and feelings while every canonnically prophetic character calls it “hearing the voices of the gods”. (Zeno, Ik-soo, her mom)
I think her soul is just connected to certain people and places.
Anyway, what really struck me as odd about Yona’s dream of everyone in coffins is the grouping. Who was in coffins? Jae-ha, Kija, Shin-ah, Soo-Won, and Mei-nyah.
Why this group? I think it’s because Soo-Won and Mei-nyah are the sword and shield of the original prophecy. It’s the four dragons (minus immortal Zeno) that are there, that Yona has a proven divine connection to. The only other category of people that the gods have literally spoken to her about are  “the sword and shield that protect the sovereign.”
If it was just people she cared about, standard nightmare fuel, Hak and Yoon would be in the coffins. Yona has little to no reason to care about Mei-nyah, like doesn’t want her dead and will protect her given the chance, in fact, there are lots of reasons not to like her. The deaths of Kouka kingdom citizens and undeserved hatred tend not to get people started on the right foot. But Yona does like her. Maybe it’s more than narrative foils and redemption.
The sword and shield hadn’t been revealed/awakened the last time they met with Ik-soo, but Soo-won is on the edge of a revelation and Mei-nyah has started her redemption arc by caring about Yoon. Starting to feel guilty about the people she’s trampled/killed to get what she wanted
(think the way she flinched when reminded of the delegate she poisoned) (girl was always gonna betray the Kai emporer, there was no reason to go through with his plan).
Also, this theory gives the JUCIEST tidbit of a prophecy long ago that “the blood of the crimson dragon king shall be sword and shield for the reborn god”. Like, reading that, anyone would assume that the crimson dragon king would be born among his descendants, and the sheer betrayal of that not happening is consistent with the theme of unfair fates in this universe.
It ALSO acts as a fascinating parallel to the dragons. One person blessed with the power/curse compared to the generations and family that all experience the effects of the curse/blessing. Both doomed to die young. All the bloodlines kept alive because the gods wanted to protect their crimson dragon.
It’s love to destruction. Divine verse human. Would the dragon villages have been different if the dragon blood acted more like the crimson blood disease? Do we finally have an answer for why Soo-Won is an all-talented shell of a person? Extra gifted for the purpose of serving Yona, but refusing to serve Yona/acknowledge the gods.
I kinda hope Mei-Nyah is just like that, clever and bold and sly enough to get what she wants through battle, sex, or any act inbetween. But she’s meant to foil Soo-Won’s determination to do whatever it takes to get what she wants with the goal of spitting the gods in the eye instead of Soo-Won’s determination to pretend they don’t affect the world at all.
And she’s meant to foil Yona’s character growth as she slowly starts to care about people other than herself (with handsome, trusty hunk in love with her to help out).
Anyway, with this dream putting Mei center stage and connecting her to the four dragons and Soo Won, either Yona is prophetic and it’s just those characters specifically that are slotted to die, or Mei’s the shield and the horrible feeling from Yona’s last life’s grave burning down reached across her spiritual connection to certain people and resulted in the coffin dream.
Thoughts?

The Fourfold Mind, or The Philosophy Of The Four Dragons - A Philosophical Concept
I’ve been developing this theory on and off for the past four years but now I’m finally ready to share it with everyone bc it’s genuinely helped me manage my mental health so much better and I hope someone else can benefit from it too.
So this theory I have is that the human mind (and the human spirit) are comprised of four different components which tie everything together, these being metaphorical dragons, each of which has a different role in how we interact with the world throughout our lives. These four dragons are Peace, Passion, Defence and Desolation. I’ll explain what each of them does in further detail.
Peace is responsible not just for happiness and joy, but general feelings of calm, serenity and knowing that everything is under control. It’s a golden dragon resembling one from Chinese mythology and moves slowly and gracefully, like a winding river. There’s no need to rush and everything is alright.
Passion represents everything we care about in life, whether that be the love we feel for others, a cause we believe in, talents and hobbies, or anything else that really ‘drives’ us, in a manner of speaking. It is a lilac wyvern, standing tall and spreading its massive wings. It knows what it wants and needs, cares deeply about it and strives to reach it goals; a very confident dragon.
Defence is the darker counterpart to Passion, as it encompasses emotions such as anger, fear and basically survival instincts. It’s willing to do anything to protect itself when it knows a threat is present. When we are angry at the unfairness and hardship present in many aspects of life, Defence is what drives us to retaliate against it in any way we can, whether that be spreading awareness of a societal injustice or outright leading a revolution, or simply protecting ourselves from those who wish us harm. It is a huge, bulky, red dragon, as ready to rush into the fray as it is to become a living fortress and stand its ground no matter what.
Desolation is the counterpart to Peace and is essentially its polar opposite, as it is entirely cantered around feelings of sadness, anxiety, depression, paranoia and so forth. Many have encountered this dragon during burnout, after a loss or during a traumatic time of their lives. In this point in time, many are more in touch with this dragons than the other three. Desolation is at its best tearful and in need of a friendly hug and at its worst, gloomy, pessimistic and devoid of any will to keep going. It is a murky green drake built like an ankylosaurus that shuffles slowly along, keeping its head down, consumed by misery.
In spite of their differences, each dragon has one component that links them to one another: empathy. The ability to care for one another (and for ourselves) is what makes us human. A peaceful experience can sometimes be even more so when there’s someone to share it with. When you connect with someone else who has the same cares and passions as you, valuable bonds are formed. One can overthrow tyrannies out of care and love for the oppressed. When you’re sad, commiserating with others in the same boat (or those who can offer support) often helps to ease the burden.
I’ve spent a long time trying to figure out the meaning of life. In connection to this philosophy, I think the meaning is to not only become aware that the dragons are there, but also learn to find a good healthy balance of all four of them. For some, the balance changes over time depending on where life takes them. For others, they can find a balance that works best for them and stick with it.
Each dragon needs the chance to carry out its duties at one point or another. Repressing them will weaken them and make it harder to connect with one’s own mind. But at the same time, the dragons shouldn’t overstay their welcome either. For example, you may need Peace to calm you down during a stressful time, but hiding from your struggles rather than facing them can lead to a state of denial that’s hard to snap out of. The balance and patterns of these dragons can be different for everyone, but this is the general idea.
Since completing this theory, I’ve been able to take care of myself much more effectively. My emotional struggles have diminished significantly, even during times of crisis. For that reason I recommend reading this and seeing if you can discover your own inner dragons, figure out which ones are the most dominant and find a good balance for them. You might learn new and incredible things about yourself.
Wishing you all love and healing during this time ❤️
