I am of the DPxDC belief/headcanon that any variation of Danny who grew up poor in Gotham during his formative years before moving to Amity Park would not be friends with Sam without friction at first. It makes things more interesting and imo allows for more exploration of different themes plus character growth for Sam that she doesn't really go through in canon.
(this doesn't only apply to a DPDC au where Danny grew up in Gotham poor, but it was the first thing that I thought of where this might happen considering my Childhood Friends au.)
Now Sam's a compassionate girl, it's one of her defining character traits, but so is her hypocrisy and judgy-ness. She's the Not Like Other Girls' girl. This is in part of the show's narrative framing that makes her out like this, unfortunately though its still showing how she is as a character since its consistent enough to be part of her character description. There are also times where the show's depiction of her activism makes it look like she's performative about it. All of this makes her dynamic with a Danny who grew up poor in Gotham very interesting.
Anyways, Sam is aware of her privilege to an extent, but still has her blindspots - glaring ones, in some cases. Her self-righteous attitude would not go over well with a crime alley kid Danny. He'd like her, at first, but then she'd do something to make him mad - personally I think her judging people for not being vegan would annoy him the most, or at least would be the breaking point for him, because it was only recently that his family started actually being able to consistently put food on the table at all, good food nonetheless. And being vegan is expensive.
Any other behavior he noticed from her he'd slowly stop tolerating - her judging conventionally attractive girls and automatically assuming they're vapid and shallow for being feminine. Her anti-capitalist beliefs start coming off as superficial at worst, and Danny would eventually figure out that Sam either came from a family that was well off, or that she wasn't aware if her family was experiencing financial struggle.
He would still be friends with Tucker, but since Tucker imo is still friends with Sam, they'd still run into each other often enough to butt heads. Sam's got a nasty habit of refusing to take responsibility when she's wrong, but when Danny is arguing with her, and counterpointing her with stuff she can't retort back at without compromising her own beliefs, then forces her to start reflecting on herself. Especially when Tucker eventually starts siding with Danny and agreeing with him.
Does sam genuinely care about her beliefs and philosophies? Survey says yes. However that doesn't mean she's not ignorant, and she definitely is at times throughout the show (like when she released the purpleback gorilla thinking it 'wanted out of its enclosure' despite the fact that it was endangered and in an urban area) and I think it'd be a real fascinating dynamic between Danny and Sam to explore.
This isn't Sam hate btw, nor am I trying to make her out like "the worst person ever" bc she's not, i wanna make that explicitly clear. Sam Manson has a lot of positive traits about her but she also has an equal amount of negative traits that I think should be explored, she is not immune to the character development.

SE LA ARRANCA A MORDIDAS | mystery of Amado's anonymous lady-hustlers, solved
Holy father who art in heaven, do I have some fucking cracked ass head-canon nonsense for us to👏🏽 day👏🏽 …………….. let’s get to it shall we??
so idk if anyone anyone being the largely nonexistent narcos fandom aka the void Im speaking into remembers that one scene from Narcos in S3 where sleazy!OG!Amado told that one story about those sex workers who robbed him blind, mid-mamadita?
anyone ..... no?
dwdwdw that's okay bc I brought some visual aids to assist in our collective remembrance of this glorious occasion
The scene starts like this: 👇
Tumblr media
Okay, yeah, right? legendary? legendary. just truly legendary behavior skfjskj on all fronts. but the identities of these social justice warriors— no wait activists— no wait, crusad— er no, patriarchy demolishers? iconic crimies with a penchant for for mid-fellatic felonies like armed robbery have been completely anonymous thus far.
…………… until now.
Bc as always, Narcoverse papis Doug Miro, Andrés Baiz, and Carlo Bernard, never fail to fill in the blanks except when they do cause Griselda left a lot to be desired and this is arguably the best ep of the show which, yeah. it’s never ideal when the best ep of a 6ep limited series is the 2nd one si me entiendes😬😬😬 but we digress because im 99.99999999999999% sure if these two sex workers from Griselda aren’t also the two legends who hustled Amado’s dick money out his pants pockets without having to fire so much as a single shot, I’m fairly certain they’re at least inspired by and carrying the torch aka bottling and distilling that Big Dick Energy to perfection of those brave women.
What gave me this idea? So glad you asked dear reader you didn’t but we’ll just pretend you did cause this my haus KEKW…. No like even I rolled my eyes at my own self for that but i couldn’t refrain either.
It all happened when I was nursing my new obsession with a one, Mr. Darío Sepúlveda a name I would most certainly believe to be fucking fake were he not an irl human bean.
👇👇 THIS slice of sweet, cherry pie right tf here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I stumbled upon this one specific part, where the look on this chick’s face is SO FUCKINGKDHDHDGWVE SIMILAR to Amado’s face, when he’s explaining 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇how the burgling commences when the gurgling is interrupted by with an uncomfortable silence, as this chick proceeds to, hog still in mouth, cease any and all throat activity and fuckingskdfjskl just stare. up. at. him.
all 🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️
Tumblr media
Like tell me homegirl’s face here👇👇 👇👇 doesn’t look just like it????????????
Tumblr media
YOU CANTSJSHSJSHWUS YOU cANT. EVIDENCE IS IRREFUTABLE.
Anyway. Movingright along.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, if aforementioned homegirl is the 🙇🏻‍♀️ from la historia del grande señor de los cielos, then that makes this ☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️ ... homegirl’s accomplice
with the👇👇sidearm
Tumblr media
and like the general only slightly subtle "I eat dicks like urs for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a midnight snack" vibes that this duo is serving throughout but esp below bc never will I ever not refer to a fuckboy as mancito from now until I'm in my grave alsdkjfa like MANCITO. THE WAY SHE SAYS IT WITH SUCH ALSKDJFKS CONTEMPT, CAN YOU STAND IT????? makes it so clear in my mind's eye how they could 100000000000%% be the unnamed heroes thieves from Amado's little story
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
also full 180 just on the low but can we all moment of silence for this 👇👇 FUCKINGSDLDFJ LOOK ON DARIO'S FACE WHEN SHE CORRECTS HIM, "quien te dijo eso? ... un mancito?" LIKE HE FUCKIGNSLDFKJSLKJ KNOWS, HE KNOWS HE HAS ERRED ON THIS PATH, HE KNOWS HE CANNOT PASS GO, CANNOT COLLECT 200 DOLLARS AND HE HAS THE GOOD SENSE TO BE GRACIOUS ABOUT IT AND IMAS;DFLIJA;LWEJF;KAJWE;FAKJ; SFUCKINGS DFKLJSLDF JA;K CRYING, SCREAMING, THROWING UP, INCONSOLABLE. LIKE LOOK. AT THIS. OKAY, THAT A MAN, NO MANCITO
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
*smacks own face, jiggles head back and forth, takes deep breath* anyway.... back to the story
Tumblr media
and this is where this prob super unhinged really solidifies bc let's join hands class and pledge alliegance to the most impressive and noteworthy alpha but in the most non-cringe way assertion of dominance I have ever fucking witnessed in all my days. Like, legit the next time i'm into a dude the way i say this like it's not an 'if' bc RIP to my love life lbr fuck all that playing coy, fuck all that flirting. We just gonna get right to the point bc imma climb all over his lap, purr in his face, and ask about his hobbies like it's the 1978 equivalent of a Hinge profile SKSKKSK
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and the next time I am spurned I will absolutely grab his junk in a naked hahahaksdjfk grab for a proper leash power to gain the upper hand in the situation and shame any and all menfolk who claim to not like me bc I'm not their 'type.' which like sksjsjsjs admittedly poor Dario just said that as a pretense to get the chisme from the chick who hates Grislenda bc the look of unconcealed regret on his face when Mistress Mamma Crotch Snatcher Morton gets up seems like a good indicator he would've paid to play with his balls
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BUT LIKE SIDE BY SIDE WITH AMADO GETTING TO THE metaphorical CLIMAX bc I sincerely doubt they let him bust, mid-robbery OF HIS STORY, CAN WE NOT SEE HOW CLEARLY THESE TWO WOMEN WERE THE ONES WHO JACKED AMADO OFF– NO WAIT THEY DECIDEDLY DID NOT DO THAT ALL OF AMADO’S SHIT, LIKE CAUGHT PAPI WITH HIS ACTUAL PANTS DOWN SKSJSB
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and lest any of us were convinced that Lady "Hijueputa Mandona Esa" who hates Griselda wasn't the one holding the gun on Toque, telling Amado she's gonna have her friend chew clear through his disco stick like some froot by the foot, please refer to exhibit B here ☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️where she's manspreading for jesus in these fucking hot pants. I mean try to tell me that ain't power. c'mon
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND THEN THE WAY SHE FUCKINGSLDFKJSL HUSTLES DARIO FOR EXTRA CASH, ALL "you gotta pay me more than that pittance bc yeah, she were a mouthy bitch but I didn't hate her that bad" ensuring he had no choice but to leave a tip, just like our pobre mujeriego, himbo extraordinaire, Sleazy!OG!Amado
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And if this isn't the most iconic reminder to tip your servers, folks which everyone should be doing already I truly don't know what is.

Road & Track’s September 2022 piece about Sebastian Vettel. Text below the cut!
‘A’ IS FOR AGITATOR.        SEBASTIAN VETTEL                  Story by Mike Guy                                    Photography by Cayce Clifford
“WHAT IS AN ACTIVIST?” asks Sebastian Vettel. He’s scratching his scruffy face and grimacing, bristling at the accusation that he has become one. It’s hard to argue against it: Over the past couple of years, even as he’s struggled to find top-10 finishes with the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team, Vettel has become the sport’s loudest voice on topics many racing fans won’t appreciate: civil rights, boycotting Russia, the plight of underprivileged children, the burdens placed on the Global South, and, most significantly, climate change, which he believes is linked to everything.
Certainly, Greta Thunberg is an activist, I propose.
“I don’t know,” he offers. “Is Greta an activist, or is she just a very concerned citizen of our planet?”
We’re sitting in Aston Martin F1’s paddock at the Hungaroring outside Budapest, a few days before the Hungarian Grand Prix. In the history of strange conversations with F1 champions, this is up there with an impromptu exchange I once had with Michael Schumacher in a Monaco alley, about the orange stitching on my brand-new pair of Adidas. (“How very flashy,” Schumacher said, smiling. “Can I buy a pair nearby?”) Except this conversation is deep, elemental. I knew a bit about Thunberg, the young Swedish firebrand who has become one of the world’s foremost advocates of climate-change awareness. But I didn’t anticipate that Vettel would know everything about her.
“Greta has Asperger’s syndrome,” Vettel says. “For her, what’s so confusing—and also so sad—is that I think she’s just very honest about what she feels.” He views it as related to her condition. “For her, our inaction on the climate crisis just doesn’t make sense, because it doesn’t make sense. And whereas everybody else is sort of numb to it—we have lives, we have things going on, we have other interests, and all of that—she is just being logical. ‘Why do I need an education when the world is going to be uninhabitable?’”
Strangely, Vettel’s take on Thunberg shows what made him such a special driver. He is absolutely ravenous for information. He is a rabbit-hole specialist. When he has a curiosity, he will not stop until he can see every side of it. The rabbit hole he can’t get out of right now, and that he can’t resolve, is climate change—which, when you think about it, is a terrible irony, given that he is a star figure in a global traveling circus centered  around burning fossil fuels to achieve speed and glory.
This is part of the continuing transformation of Sebastian Vettel. Over his career, he has appeared to fans in many forms: prodigy, brat, champion, jester, provocateur, outsider, mentor, scold, and, finally, agitator. When he gets on a roll talking about e-fuels and carbon credits, he is indistinguishable from crusty protesters marching across Washington Square and shouting doom.
“You look like a hippie to me,” I tell him. His long, stringy hair is just a few hours short of greasy. He’s pushing it out of his eyes as he talks, though careful not to push it too far. “I have a lot of hair, yes,” he says wistfully, then gestures to his receding hairline. “But in significant ways, I don’t have a lot of hair. It’s a privilege of aging.”
Just minutes before this conversation (one of many we would have), with no warning to just about anyone, Vettel announced his retirement. He told his Aston Martin F1 bosses, as well as his assistant, Britta Roeske, who, though not surprised, was a bit shocked that it happened on this day. He leans in and whispers to me, “Do you know I’ve just announced my retirement? Your timing is perfect.” While we are chatting, his retirement video—a stark, honest, and completely unvarnished appreciation of the sport as well as a call to action—is playing out like a grenade blast on his Instagram account.
He’s right; the timing is perfect to reconsider the life and times of a champion. Now 35, a happily married father of three, Vettel is at the end of his F1 career. At his peak, he was as untouchable as any driver in any era of any series. Love him or hate him, and there are millions who go both ways, he will go down in history among a class of drivers so elite, they have names like Schumacher, Hamilton, and Prost—and, arguably, no one else.
VETTEL CAME FROM a middle-class German suburb whose name doesn’t register unless you’re from there. His father, Norbert, was a carpenter and a kart-racing hobbyist, though he never pushed Vettel to be anything other than his own person.
“I didn’t understand at the time how lucky I was,” Vettel recalls. “I mean, compared to many other drivers, I am an exception. I had a normal childhood. I raced, and I was gone every weekend, but when I wasn’t gone, I was at home. I went to school, I finished school, I finished high school. I did karting, and I think I was as professional about it as a child can be. But the moment I got out of the go-kart, I was in the dirt, I was in the forest.”
Red Bull Racing talent scout Helmut Marko compares Vettel’s upbringing with Max Verstappen’s as a study in contrasts that led to similar results. Max’s father, F1 vet Jos Verstappen, was notoriously cruel to Max as a kid, forcing him to race in conditions that a 10-year-old should probably not have to endure. Vettel was allowed to come in out of the rain.
“What do we think makes someone more resilient?” Vettel wonders, as he ponders Max’s extremely promising career. “I didn’t get beaten up. But if you do get beaten up your whole life, does that work? Or does it work to be loved and explained the ways of how the world works? If you compare the two, who is more resilient? Is resilience fighting back—like somebody hits you, you hit back? Or is resilience strength in understanding what just happened, reflecting and taking things on from there?”
Though he’s making a rhetorical point about a racing driver, he’s much more interested in how resilience applies to his own life after retirement. “Being a father myself, obviously I have these challenges every day,” he says. “And if you say, okay, my children are allowed to talk back, well, then you also need to face the fact that they are talking back. So I think it is fascinating, because it’s so much of who we are later on and how we manage situations. And I’m not talking about how many races we might win. Our childhood is fundamental. So much can be done right, and so much can be done wrong.”
Vettel never expected to be an F1 driver. He was contemplating university after he got his high-school degree. It was the normal thing to do. “I finished my A levels and literally two weeks later got the phone call: You are our reserve driver; we need you at the race,” he says. “I was shocked.” He got a development seat with BMW and built his legacy, one turn at a time.
Now? He is not old. By the standards of Formula 1 set by guys like Kimi Räikkönen, who retired at age 42, and Michael Schumacher, who finished his last race when he was 43, Vettel could have another decade in F1 if he wants. Where the younger guys are even smaller, spindly from the shoulder down, conditioned to perfection, Vettel’s form is more functional, with burly forearms, a stout neck, and just a hint of padding over the six-pack. He doesn’t obsess over conditioning the way the younger guys do. He’s comfortable with his body.
You will never know where Vettel is on race weekends. He usually doesn’t stay in the fancy hotels with the other drivers. He prefers to rent a house far from the track, often accompanied by his family. He doesn’t have a business manager and negotiated his own contracts. He bridles against authority. More than most, he does things his own way.
There was no particular moment when Vettel decided to care about the climate crisis or even use the word “crisis.” But it formed in the midst of his career, race by race.
“I think I’ve always seen things,” he says. “I remember in Malaysia, where, the year before when we raced there, there was forest, and the year after, we went past and it was all palm trees…. For sure, I look back at some things now, and I wonder, why did I not maybe put one and one together earlier? Or why did I do certain things like flying around the world, like using private jets? This is stuff you have to decide for yourself now.”
Vettel will talk about almost anything. He doesn’t keep secrets, refuses to conceal his beliefs, and is openly emotional—much more than you’d expect from a German man, at least. Though he is beholden to a patchwork of sponsors that pay him and Aston Martin millions of dollars, there is no effort to protect them from his opinions. Boy, does he have opinions. And he always backs them up with facts.
FOR MUCH OF HIS F1 CAREER, the Vettel haters around the world were legion. They hated him because he drove for Red Bull, which, when it arrived on the scene, was considered a clownish host of parties in the adventure-sports world. How could they possibly compete on the same level as Ferrari or McLaren? For the naysayers, Vettel became the evil posterboy, one of Dr. Marko’s creations.
Then Vettel beat Ferrari and McLaren. It was the car, not the driver, the haters said. Like every racer on a winning streak, he complained a lot and was accused of being unsportsmanlike (everyone remembers the Multi 21 scandal with always-a-bridesmaid teammate Mark Webber).
But what makes a great racing driver? This conversation’s as old as the chariot races at Circus Maximus. Is it the number of wins? Championships? Podiums? By those measurements, Vettel has few peers. He has four World Championships, tied with Alain Prost and bested only by Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton (and, from the pre-F1 grand prix era, Juan Manuel Fangio).
From a championships perspective, there are 30 lesser drivers who will remain far beneath him on the list of greats: Senna, Lauda, Clark, Alonso, Villeneuve, and on and on. (The jury is still out on Verstappen, who possesses apparently limitless ability, though his only championship came from a deeply flawed decision by a racing director who was shown the door shortly afterward.)
“There are more important things. Eventually, I’ll find my way to those.”                        —Sebastian Vettel
Vettel was at Red Bull for just six years, during which he won his championships—serious ROI for Dr. Marko, who plucked Vettel from a choir of F1 contenders young and old. Before his 150th F1 start, Vettel earned 41 wins, 73 podiums, 45 pole positions, and those four titles—stunning stats that cast a shadow over his contemporaries (in the same first 149, Lewis Hamilton, with 34 wins and two championships, comes closest; Alonso and Verstappen lag far behind). Beyond the raw stats, extraordinary work ethic, and preternatural talent, the greatest drivers integrate an uncommon set of qualities: aptitude, intuition, the most cohesive team, the deepest-pocketed sponsors, the canniest team principals. It’s a sort of witchcraft with a whiff of luck.
Championships are not “just the car,” but great cars can get you close. During his four-year title run, Vettel had the benefit of driving Adrian Newey’s aerodynamic masterpieces, the RB6, RB7, RB8, and RB9, which, among other prestidigitations, deployed a blown diffuser that the competition never countered. And yet, perhaps only a professional driver can fathom the level of unrelenting focus required to maintain that level of mastery against Lewis, Fernando, Kimi, Webber, et al. Not just anyone can sit in the fastest car and win four consecutive championships.
Consider how Vettel earned the Red Bull seat in the first place. When he showed an abnormal skill in karting, his father began budgeting closely, saving here and there to fund a modest campaign. After a development gig at BMW, Vettel worked his way into a seat at Toro Rosso, a Red Bull junior team in F1 that used the previous year’s chassis with a Ferrari engine instead of the more dominant Renault mill. At the 2008 Italian Grand Prix, in the little Toro Rosso, Vettel won from pole on a grid that included a dominant McLaren/Hamilton combination and two Ferraris that filled the front of the field. Vettel’s performance was career defining, and it secured his seat at Red Bull.
Once there, Vettel locked eyes with the engineers. He talked through the car’s every component, its every weakness and nuance. He probably knew as much about Newey’s wondrous cars as his engineers. So Vettel won over the team and quickly became its natural focus. Vettel’s team-mate, Mark Webber, one of the most talented wheelmen in the world, didn’t stand a chance. The same curiosity that led Vettel to discover how a disappearing forest in Malaysia is a bad sign for the climate, or how Greta Thunberg’s Asperger’s syndrome is a sign of her honest commitment to the cause, led him to become a virtuoso in a strong car.
The rest is history: In 2010, Sebastian Vettel became the youngest driver to win an F1 World Championship, at age 23 and 133 days.
Today, as a very long retirement looms over the rest of the races this season, he has no idea what he’ll do next. But what motivates him is that the fate of the planet looms over the horizon.
“I have three children and a wife I love very much,” he says. “I’m going to be very busy. Everything you think you might be doing or want to do, I don’t know if it’s going to be satisfying. Because I don’t know any different than this. But I do think there are more important things. Eventually, I’ll find my way to those.”

hi feel free to disregard this if you need to (I only thought to ask you because of your update posts), but someone I know was sharing something about Israel killing a reporter's family (they were claiming it was an intentional act). their source (some guy on insta) seemed questionable and I was having trouble finding anything that confirmed or denied it (as a deliberate assassination of the family, not whether or not the family died). do you know anything about it or have tips for sifting through information?
thank you whether you answer this or not
Hi! No, please don't hesitate to ask me anything. Sorry it took me a moment, I tried looking into it, and I didn't find anything serious confirming it, other than social media content. So this seems for now to have the same reliability level as the rest of Hamas' reports.
But I do know Israel doesn't intentionally target civilians no matter what. Just today the IDF showed it made over 5.98 million direct calls to Gazan civilians, to warn them and get them to evacuate. And that's just one of many means of communication used to warn and hopefully save civilians. I know anti-Israeli activists like to assume the worst about Israel's intentions (I would love to have their apparent powers of mind reading), but no country spends that amount of money on warning civilians, unless it's actually interested in... not killing civilians.
I also did my mandatory service in the army, I know how we were instructed to strive to defend our population as much as possible, while minimizing any harm to civilians on the other side as much as possible. I remember detailing to a friend from San Diego once how many things an Israeli soldier has to do before they can open fire at a suspect (for example, we had to learn how to shout our warning in Arabic, to make sure that there aren't tragic miscommunications because suspects don't speak Hebrew). And it's the fact that I was there, on the ground, I saw with my own eyes how much the IDF tries to avoid harming civilians, that makes me so certain. People will go, "How can you blindly believe Israeli generals?" and I'll be like, "I don't, I know what Israeli sergeants drilled into our heads repeatedly."
But I'll add to that another point. Unlike the claims made by propagandists, it doesn't actually serve Israel to kill reporters. I know anti-Zionists like to claim that Israel is doing it to silence their reports, but the truth is that, the international outcry over even one journalist who was just claimed (not proven) to have been killed intentionally caused Israel more damage than anything she could have reported. Which is exactly why accusations are made immediately by anti-Israelis. Even if they're never proven (as in her case) or they're disproven (as in the case of the al-Ahli hospital explosion), it doesn't matter. The immediate damage is done, the monstrous image of Israel as bloodthirsty is already cemented in some people's minds, and then they never hear anything to the contrary, or if they do, they no longer believe anything that exonerates that "monstrous" country.
Lastly, I'll add that "journalism" is a term that should be taken with a grain (or even pint) of salt in this context. Nothing is reported from Gaza without the approval of Hamas. Even if Israel intentionally killed every "journalist" there, the messages coming out of Gaza would be exactly the same, because they're the only ones approved by Hamas. Those terrorists would just find someone to put in a "press" vest and stand in front of the camera, delivering those messages. So, anyone who tells you Israel has any reason to kill these journalists, either doesn't understand the reality of Gaza, or is intentionally lying.
I hope this helps! Take care, I hope you and yours are all good! xoxox

🌄 You Make Lovin' Fun by @homosociallyyours (E, 109k)
Harry is a 28 year old travel writer at a gay magazine who gets the assignment to go a lesbian cruise. She figures it's a nice chance to have some fun in the sun, but she's not expecting much else-- even if her partner and best friend are both encouraging her to hook up with someone while she's there.
When she locks eyes with a gorgeous silver fox from across the room, she starts to think she could've been wrong. There are lots of things standing in the way of anything real happening with her and Louis, but that doesn't stop them from falling for one another. True love isn't always easy, but they do make lovin' fun.
🌄 That Smile and That Midnight Laugh by yeah_alright / @uhoh-but-yeah-alright (T, 50k)
Harry’s never noticed how lovely Louis really is. Maybe it’s just that she’s usually so guarded – a little tense, a little irritated, a little put out. At least when she’s at school, and also usually when she’s around Nick, which are the only times Harry has really seen her. Until tonight. Tonight Harry’s seen her with her guard completely down. Too busy laughing and enjoying herself to remember to be prickly, maybe. She seems different.
It feels different.
A Ferris Bueller's Day Off AU that picks up right where the movie leaves off, and imagines what might happen if Ferris' girlfriend and sister become friends. And maybe something more, too.
🌄 i must admit i thought i'd like to make you mine by @disgruntledkittenface (M, 50k)
Louis fell apart when her ex broke up with her and moved across the country. Just as she’s starting to move on, Zayn comes back to town for their mutual friends’ wedding – with a new girlfriend as her plus one.
Blindsided and scrambling to save face, Louis lets herself get talked into a fake relationship with her new friend Harry. Their arrangement makes Louis feel pathetic and embarrassed, but it’s only going to last a few weeks. She just has to get through the wedding – what could happen?
🌄 Bleeding Love by momentofclarity / @gaycousinlarry (E, 27k)
“I’m Harry,” Styles says like Louis didn’t know and she gestures for Louis to have a seat. “You want anything?”
Louis is still considering running. This is absurd. Styles should be shooting daggers at Louis through her eyes, but she’s not. She’s looking at Louis like she’s a riddle waiting to be solved.
Louis is an animal rights activist who throws red paint at fur coat wearing it-girl Harry Styles. Then there's a crack in the surface and something new starts bleeding through.
🌄 Any Thrill Will Do by @star55 (E, 23k)
It’s a Tuesday when Harry’s motorbike stops working. This is a catalyst for her entire life changing forever. She just doesn’t know it yet.
🌄 daydream about me by vintagehistories / @adoredontour (E, 21k)
“Anything else going on for you at the moment?” she asks, leaning forward on her elbows across the table, mindful of the radio equipment in front of her. “What about you and that Louis Tomlinson?”
Harry sputters, mouth moving but no words coming out. She can feel her cheeks heat up, darkening with embarrassment.
“It’s not, Louis and I, we don’t—” Harry can’t finish the sentence, tongue heavy in her mouth. She takes a deep breath, thankful they’re not being videoed, and tries again, “We’ve never even met, actually.”
alternatively titled 'harry styles does not have a crush on louis tomlinson and other lies she tells liam payne'
🌄 Tell Me This Is Paradise by  QuickedWeen / @becomeawendybird (E, 19k)
Harry Styles has been lucky in love but unlucky in the bedroom with all of her previous boyfriends. When her best friend Niall finds out that she's never had an orgasm, she knows just what Harry needs: Louis Tomlinson. Niall sets Harry up to get sorted out.
🌄 when half spent was the night by @juliusschmidt (M, 14k)
Hi Harry, I’ve skimmed your website and am interested in hiring you to be my doula. I’m 7 ½ months pregnant and not keen to do this whole labor and birth thing alone. After looking around, I thought you might be a good fit because you mention enjoying unusual people with unusual birth requests. I can meet up any day this week. Lou
🌄 Shine by @littlelouishiccups (E, 8k)
Harry’s had a crush on Louis since the moment she realized she liked girls.

🌄 Close Our Eyes (Pretend We're Miles Away) by @haztobegood (E, 5k)
Louis and Harry have been on the run for a day and a half now. It’s a hard situation to be in, and they’ve been trying to cope the best they can since their relaxing girls’ weekend at a rented cabin turned into a living nightmare.
Just forty eight hours ago, Harry never would have robbed a bank. Hell, she barely would have touched the gun she’d used in the robbery, let alone wave it around to threaten anyone. Forty eight hours ago, Louis hadn’t used that same gun to shoot a man.
🌄 When I Think About You by @phdmama (E, 4k)
Harry is beautiful, inexperienced, and curious. Louis is smart, seasoned, and comfortable in her own body. When Harry has questions, just maybe, Louis has the answers she’s looking for.
And... they’re roommates.
🌄 the wheel breaks the butterfly by embodied (E, 4k)
“Out with it, Styles,” Louis groans. Harry’s suddenly regretting this whole thing, and she’s sure she’s beet red now, so she just blurts it out so fast she’s not sure if Louis even understands her right away.  “I’ve never gotten head before.”
AU. harry and louis are roommates. girls' night ends a little differently than usual.
🌄 lord knows i've tried (can't get her off my mind) by whensheflies / @choface (M, 3k)
“Hi, it’s Louise? Louise Tomlinson...from school. Harriet, you there?” she asks softly.
Even through her meltdown, Harriet almost shivers at the sound of her name on Louise’s lips.
No. She cannot be thinking about Louise’s lips right now. Get it together, Styles.

🌄 Witch Girlfriend Drabbles  by nonsensedarling / @absoloutenonsense (G, 3k)

🌄 We Made a Start by @lululawrence (NR, 1k)
“Hey! I thought your phone got taken away after that stunt you pulled in Chem,” Louis said brightly, relieved her best friend was going to rescue her from her awful reading assignment, even if it was only temporarily.
“It was taken away after that stunt she pulled in Chem,” a voice that definitely wasn’t Harry’s said.
“Oh...hi, Anne,” Louis greeted, suddenly nervous. Anne had never called Louis before, not when Harry wasn’t already at Louis’ house for a sleepover or something.
“Hi, Louis,” Anne continued. “Based on your greeting, I’m afraid I already know the answer, but I have to ask.” Anne’s voice was obviously filled with worry despite the fact she was trying to veil it with calm. “Harry doesn’t happen to be at your house, does she?”
Or the one where Harry's hiding, Louis knows just where to find her, and more comes out of the evening than either expected.
🌄 Chase by @wabadabadaba (E, 1k)
Carefully, Louis stalked through the forest, searching for Harry. A moving cloud allowed the moonlight to shine just right to reflect off of the gorgeous green eyes of her omega. Harry was attempting to hide behind a tree; she was crouched down with her front paws and chest on the ground, her hind legs bent, with her tail swishing behind her like a puppy. Louis couldn't wait any longer to have her.
or, Louis and Harry play a game of chase during the full moon.

"Work for you?" That was the first time you met Ji-Hye. She had a soft voice that reminded you of your mother, but her bright eyes held an intelligence behind them.
You were looking through the new paintings for this month's art fair when she came up behind you. You nearly dropped your drink, but managed to save it without making a fool of yourself.
"I guess so," you said awkwardly. A little nervous under her gaze, you fidgeted before realizing you should offer your hand.
The Hwan Ji-Hye. Beautiful. Smart. Kind. An overall perfectionist who cared deeply about how things worked. The perfect girlfriend. The perfect fiancée.
Dionysus Museum's Founding Director and Curator. Well-known for supporting avant-garde performance art. She has repeatedly provided a stage to aspiring performance artists at the beginning of their carrers, launching many a brilliant career. She believes that artist must be activists, and that Dionysus Museum provides a venue for fruitful, challenging debates through a fresh, boundary-breaking art.
She is also a great teacher, an incredibly kind person with a sharp tongue and an even sharper mind. And, while some have argued that she lacks creativity, she has proven countless times that there is a place for all creative ideas.
Her father, a prominent lawyer and judge, had been among the founders of the museum as well.
She was amused by your reaction. "Yes, we have an open internship this month. You should consider applying. I see you have an artistic eye."
You blushed slightly. "Oh, thank you, I didn't know they offered internships. It seems a bit odd though."
She smiled sweetly. "Well, no one else from other schools applied here, which means you may actually get in. But don't go jumping into things too quickly!"
"Uhm... that's... I just enjoy painting." You uncomfortably denied.
A sly smile spread across her lips. "Is that right?"
Your face felt hot. Why did she make everything sound so seductive? It was probably the makeup. No wonder you were having such trouble keeping your eyes off her. She was breathtaking. You were completely lost, and you hated it.
"Exactly what we require. Are you, by chance, a Fine Arts student?" She inquired, but you had a sneaking suspicion she already knew.
"Not exactly. I'm taking a year away to get my master's degree in Fine Arts, but, uhm... I haven't completed the semester yet." You nodded.
"That's fantastic! We are now seeking for additional help. We're a touch short on employees." She pointed in the direction of the ushers and guides who worked behind her.
You noticed that each guide wore a red buttoned shirt underneath their suit jackets. Each had black trousers and shoes, and carried a clipboard.
"Are those… your ushers?" You asked.
Ji Hye gave you an enigmatic smile. "We prefer to refer to them as guides, yes."
You did the math. There were a total of seven, which was obviously insufficient for a museum of this size. "I'd have to think about it."
The young woman leaned forward. "Don't think too hard. Just say the word."
You were silent for a moment, trying to gather your thoughts. Your eyes darted from person to person before settling back to her.
"Oh." She seemed depressed all of a sudden. Nonetheless, she persisted in asking, "have you ever accepted an internship before?"
"Uhm... no. I'm still on the lookout." You replied. You thought the conversation was over until her face suddenly lit up again.
"At the very least, consider it. It would make me quite delighted if you chose this internship." She softly held your arm to reassure you. "I can tell you're one of a kind."
Her smile made you feel special somehow, which surprised you. It wasn't like you were a pretty girl or anything—in fact, you thought that you looked more like someone who had spent three years playing tennis than anything else. And yet, something made you trust her. Maybe it was her confident demeanor, or her gentle manner.
It would appear that an angel had gone past. The uneasy pause seemed to go far too long. In reality, it had taken less than a minute. "Ah," you finally said, "thank you."
She squeezed your arm in reply. "Let's hope that it comes true. If not, it's okay. I'll find another way to attract new interns."
"I should probably leave." To avoid the embarrassment, you gently moved backwards, but not before saying, "but thank you for offering. I'll think about it." You instantly turned around and raced through the museum's front doors. When you realized you had made it back to your car with only seconds to spare, you stopped dead in your tracks. This entire afternoon had been a mess, and you felt utterly stupid. You were usually quite good at improvising on the spot, but nothing prepared you for Ji Hye.
Maybe you shouldn't have done that? What if it got her angry? Then again, what if it didn't? Would you have any chance of working for them then?

Chapter 10: Covers and Protectors
Noura stood over the boardroom table once again in the Ystad Station. Along with the rest of the team, she stared down at a new coded letter from the killer with a cold feeling of fear and dread lodged in her stomach. The pages were laid out like rectangular tiles in their plastic forensic sheathing, remind the young academic uncomfortably of body bags. The bulky envelop had arrived that morning, and the lab had immediately descended upon it for any trace of clues.
She sighed, fiddling with the thick band of her turtleneck. (Thanks to Magnus she had to dig for one in the back of the closet that morning, realizing the number of sanguine mementos he'd left on her skin). It was amazing to her; the contrast between the cocky passionate filthy lover who had fucked her senseless (to her utter satisfaction) and the sweet mild-mannered gentleman he also was now. When he'd noticed the livid marks in the shower, he'd softly and sheepishly exclaimed, “Oh darling! I'm so sorry!” and blushed. She assured Magnus it was perfectly fine, but still teased him about how her scrambling to find a way to cover the evidence had made them a few minutes late. Mentally, she found herself thanking a god she didn't believe in that it was winter so no one would question a bulky garment.
And now she was glad for the extra layer of warmth against the cold dread of another imminent murder. This was the killer's pattern; taunting them with letters, sent more and more frequently over several days, culminating in a new murder or missing person.
Wallander cleared his throat and then addressed Noura, gently enough to surprise the other detectives after Harik's outburst during their last meeting. Aside from Magnus, no one else would have realized that the dust had settled. “Harik...Martinsson, what do we have here? First impressions.”
Noura came closer turning the laid out pages carefully in gloved hands. Her mind felt sluggish and tired as she fought for some clarity. “Well...the code seems to be similarly constructed to the others...a style of cryptogram. I don't think it will take me too long to decode it. It has the same symbols in the margins (swastikas, etc.) just like the others...so Neo-Nazi affiliation of some sort...but we already knew that,” she sighed, annoyed with herself for the lack of help she was being. Then something caught her eye. “Huh...on this set there are some new symbols and motifs...ones generally used more exclusively by a subset of younger, online extremist. Self-described 'incels' and 'men's rights activists' in addition to being neo-nazis. Although there are certainly older groups with the same ideology, these images have been used almost exclusively by a small subset of young men online, between the ages of 20 and...What was the statistic from the program, Magnus?”
He shook himself out of the reverie of listening to her to respond. “Oh...the program indicates men between the ages of 18-30 for these...and these.”
“Good...good,” Wallander mumbled and nodded, making a conscious effort to be kinder to the two. “Let's start there. Svendsen, let's take a look at local recidivists in that age group...call in any stand outs.”
Magnus cleared his throat then raised his voice to speak. He loathed doing this, knowing Noura was about to be furious with him, but he wouldn't let it go. He rushed to spit it out as everyone was just turning to leave. “One...one more thing, Kurt.”
“Yes?”
“Yesterday there was evidence of someone snooping around Harik's building...someone who couldn't get inside. The same person then went on to harass a Syrian couple who run the grocery down the street.”
Wallander scowled with concern, “Harik...why didn't you tell me about this?”
Noura could feel her face and neck turning red and hot beneath the high neck of her sweater. She spoke up as clearly and forcefully as she could. “That's one theory, Kurt...going on nothing but footprints in the snow and one customer saying some asshole thing under his breath. It could be absolutely nothing. That kind of thing happens all the time in that neighborhood. This is just the first time a cop was there to notice it.
Her onyx eyes seemed suddenly hard and lethal as they stared daggers into Magnus.
Kurt rose his voice slightly, “It could be nothing, but it could very much be something, Noura. I...” Wallander scanned the room, realizing they were all still surrounded by the others in the meeting. He mumbled, “Okay...everyone you have your tasks. Please have at it and leave us the room, if you'd be so kind.”
They shuffled out, happy to escape the tension which had settled over the room like suffocating smoke. Noura still stared at Magnus, arms crossed, while his eyes fixed to the floor.
“Noura, I know you want to play this off as nothing...It might be nothing, but we simply don't know and we have to be careful.”
“Spare me, both of you! Does it matter more now because I'm someone you know?” she spat. “I wish your superiors would have shown this level of interest and diligence at the beginning, then maybe we wouldn't be in this shit storm of a situation now.” She took a deep breath, her shoulders slumping. “I'm...I'm sorry. That wasn't fair to either of you. I know you weren't in charge of that.” She said, looking more kindly to both of them as Magnus dared to raise his eyes to her, looking a bit like a kicked puppy.
She turned to Martinsson, “Did you have to announce it in front of the whole team, Magnus?”
He inhaled, bracing himself, “Yes...yes I did.” He looked to Wallander for affirmation, and received it in a nod. “We all need all the information we have. They might see something we've missed.”
She lowered her eyes. He was right but she'd be damned if she let him know it.
Kurt chimed in, “He's right, Noura. It doesn't feel right to me either. I have a hunch about it that I don't like.”
She looked back and forth to both of them, “What? What is this, some detective cop shit the poor little academic wouldn't understand? A hunch isn't evidence...and a badge and a gun doesn't make either of you smarter than me.” She knew she was being defensive now. It was a sore spot with her; never wanting to be treated like a damsel in distress, never wanting to be dependent, protected, or rescued. Although her time with Magnus as a house guest had been heavenly, she still chafed at the idea of why he was there. But, at the end of the day, she wasn't a cop. She didn't know how to protect herself in the way she would need to and she had to admit it.
Kurt chuckled and said quietly, “Noura, I know for a fact that I am not smarter than you...either of you, actually. I know it's hard to swallow...needing protection. I struggle with it too. I'm asking you, from one stubborn person to another, to accept some help.”
Martinsson blinked in disbelief at the admission, as if slapped across the face.
Harik considered this and nodded, pulling herself reluctantly back to her normal, logical self. “I can admit when I'm bested...and I am,” she said very deliberately, looking with a tired smile to them both, “this is over my head. I commend the effectiveness of your tactic on me, Wallander.” They all chuckled with the faintest relief.
Kurt asked, “How are things there now? How is the couple.”
Magnus spoke up. “I left them a card...told them to call the station or me anytime, even if it might be a false alarm.”
“Good. But I want to send a security detail to them as well...unmarked cars though. And Harik's building?”
“The front door requires a key, but it's just a glass entry way to the lobby. Not particularly secure. I didn't get a chance to check the fire escapes. No security guard or system on site. The shop doesn't have them either.”
Wallander looked to Noura regretfully. She said, “I'm not going to like what you're about to say, am I?”
“No...I'm afraid not. While you're on the case...while the killer knows who you are since you've been interviewed in news and we know he's following it, I don't want to take any chances. Martinsson, escort her back home at the end of the day. Harik, you're going to pack a bag for a few days. Do you have friends or family outside of that neighborhood to stay with...a boyfriend...someone like that? Someone who could also drive you, ideally?”
“No...nothing like that. I'm alone.” she said, a little too quickly, but if Kurt noticed he didn't say. Magnus knew she had to say it, but it still stung.
“Come back here when you have what you need. I know it's not the most comfortable situation but there's a small suit here in the station for those of us who have to stay over sometimes. You're going to have to be there a little while.”
“For how lon...!?”
The superior put up a hand. “I know...I know. Please, do this for me. As a favor to an old man who is worried about you. I don't want you staying there.”
Noura agreed and thanked them curtly, then left the room, without another word.
----
Magnus heard the tap of her laptop closing, as she packed up for the day. He had been listening for it, itching for the time when they would be in the car together and alone...and hopefully able to talk. For her part, Noura wanted to stay mad at the junior detective. She had remained cold and professional all day. In fact, they actually got quite a lot done. Both staying angry at him and being productive seemed like miracles, considering every other minute she would be visited by the intrusive memory of him naked and fucked-out on her kitchen floor, her wet red panties held between his teeth as he smiled triumphantly. What a shame. I liked that pair. Worth it, though. She thought.
Shaking off the thought for the hundredth time that day, she crossed the room to him. “Ready?” she ask in a blank tone.
He smiled sheepishly and nodded. “Yes, all set.”
He opened the door for her as she swung out. Goddammit, who does charming shit like that anymore? She thought.
They walked silently to his car, but as soon as they settled in, and the doors shut he turned to her, rambling, “Noura...I'm so sorry, but I had to. I was too worried, and I had a bad hunch, just like Kurt and I just couldn't stand the idea of...”
He trailed off as her eyes met his and he watched them soften at the care in his voice. The oceanic blue of his eyes began to mist over. He didn't notice it until he felt his breath catch in his throat like sharp pebbles. Both of them were caught off-guard by the depth of his reaction, knowing the unspoken end of the sentence.
I just couldn't stand the idea of losing you.
I just couldn't stand the idea of you being hurt or killed.
I just couldn't stand not protecting you.
She reached out for his hand, squeezing his broad palm tightly. “I know,” she gently whispered. “It's okay, Magnus.”
“It is? We're okay.” He sniffed, tightening his grip as if frightened she might slip away.
“Yeah.” She smiled bitter-sweetly, pulling him in for a tight hug, kissing his warm forehead and nuzzling into his mess of curls. He exhaled a sigh of relief as she said, “Yeah, golden boy, we're okay.”

Confession: Hello guys, I was the one who submission about some abusive confessions sent over the years. I was mostly angry at all the hate "confessions" 5sos stans sent about an underage Rena. On twitter years ago grown adults would bully her, threaten physical violence against and even tell her to kill herself etc all in the name of "activism". It had gotten so bad she made her layout dark at one point and I was very worried. As a black person, her hair has never bothered me. Most of the people abusing her when white people pretending to act like "allies" towards us and tell us what is and isn't racist. That hairstyle was inspired by industrial/cyber goth culture which was very popular back in the 2000s in goth scene and I bet those horrible people don't even know about because they came from a world of pop music. Also I takes three seconds for them to google industrial goth fashion. I have some white industrial goth friends who wear similar hairstyles and none of them are racist. They're all very kindhearted sweet people with an epic taste in music, fashion and culture. That goth subculture has been popular since the late 90s and 2000s. By the way I've always loved that side of goth culture because industrial/cyber goth fashion looks so beautiful, badass and the music is awesome. I'm glad a couple of people who ran hate blogs about Cherri Bomb/Hey Violet apologized and I forgive them because they sounded very remorseful and sincere. Unfortunately one more person still runs a hate page. I confronted the person, especially about how badly Rena was treated and of course the person who runs that blog is crakkker and of course they placed the blame on an innocent child instead of placing the blame on the adults who bullied and threatened a child's life just so they can look like "political heroes" while they're a bunch of evil mean spirited political villains. I was very mad when they blame her like she was just a kid?? I also told them they sounded like a nazi, told them how performative they and that they're no "activist". Also told them to google industrial/cyber goth fashion, told them they're a pop music stan (although I love pop music but from the 80s and 2000s). Lastly I told them that 5sos sucks. Those 20 something year old white Australian men did absolutely nothing to defend her or her band. I've researched they did far worse things while in their early 20s too and barely was held accountable for it. Like always, males always get a slap on the wrist and are babied while women and young girls, especially in the industry suffer. I hate she had to apologize for having a hairstyle that's very common within the industrial goth world. Even another long time fan who's also black told her that she loved her threads and didn't need to apologize. When Rena said she was getting told to go kill herself it brought tears to my eyes. Imagine wanting to be a "political left wing activist" so bad you end up sounding just as vile, horrible and evil just like the nazis who identify as right wingers? I hope none of those people have kids of their own. Wanting to be appear like a so called "woke activist" give you no excuse to abuse kids, famous or not. Treating kids any kind of way breaks my heart so much, it's just as bad as animal abuse. I guess that's why we barely have child stars nowadays because throughout history, child stars like Shirley Temple and Judy Garland have been abused so kind of way by nasty abusive adults. I really wish Cherri Bomb/Hey Violet never met that garbage boy band because as much as some rock and metal fans can be annoying at times, pop stans can be very very awful people, especially when it comes to boy bands. Just wanted to add that Julia Pierce is now a goth dj. They all moved on from their teen years and other people should move on too. Also I'm very happy that the other hate pages got deleted while two sincerely apologized. Long confession but this is just something I wanted to speak out about. 🖤

bi the way
While chatting during a night drinking, Jackson realizes that Lucy might have a crush or two...or just a very specific type.
Hello, all! This is the first fic I'm posting for this fandom, and I hope you all like it. While working on another fic, I was chatting with my bestie @somekindofflowergirl about how funny it would be if Lucy had been interested in Katie Barnes and he'd later found out (and broken his brain). This isn't that, but it led to this short fic about Lucy having a bi moment. And a type.
Rated T, also on ao3. Chenford-adjacent (just some light pining), pre-relationship, but astoundingly, canon-compliant.
******
“So, did you figure out why Tim was being so nice to his new rookie?”
Lucy peers across the coffee table at Jackson, eyeing him blearily as she sloshes her glass. Ostensibly, it’s a margarita. In reality, it’s mostly tequila and ice. This is her third one, and she’s definitely feeling it.
“Yeah, it’s fine.”
Jackson smiles over at her, taking a drink of his beer. He’s not drinking as much, but this is probably his fifth beer. “So? You gonna tell me, or will I have to speculate wildly?”
“She…she’s got other stuff going on. Big stuff. He said he was being nice because that’s what she needs.”
“What kind of stuff?”
“She needs to feel safe, and I needed to feel like the world was dangerous. Something like that,” she says, waving her hand.
He bristles, “Um, I think you know the world is a dangerous place. Caleb, anyone?”
Lucy makes a face, reaching across to pat his arm. “No, not anymore. At first. You know as well as I do that Tim hasn’t been harsh like that with me in forever,” she says. After a moment, she continues, “Did you know she was in the Army too? Katie, I mean?”
“No shit, really?”
“For real.”
Jackson looks over at her, where she’s staring into her drink, frowning at it a little. “What’s wrong?”
“I thought he liked her better than me.”
He finishes the rest of his beer, unwilling to touch that one with a 10-foot pole.
Lucy isn’t finished, though. “I asked him…I mean, not like that, but he said I’m kind and insightful and maybe one day Katie could be as good as me.”
Wow. That’s…unexpected, from Bradford.
“What if he doesn’t mean it, though? What if he’s just saying that to make me feel better?” she asks, voice wobbling.
“Okay, first of all, does that sound like something Tim would do? If he’s actually using words to compliment you, he means it. Also, he’s right, and you are both kind and insightful. And astoundingly good at your job.”
“But she’s just so pretty and smart and fit,” she says with a sigh.
Jackson isn’t really sure where to start with this one. “Uh…”
“She is, did you even see her?”
“I did, Lucy, along with everyone on the day shift in patrol. She’s not really my type. Hey, is this still a thing where you’re upset about Tim ‘moving on’ with a new rookie, or…?”
Lucy takes a long pull of her watery, iced tequila. “I just can’t stop thinking about how beautiful she is. And what if she’s Tim’s type?”
He stands up and rounds the table, joining her on the couch. “Can we stop for a minute and focus on how you’ve mentioned three times that you think she’s hot?”
“Well, she is!” Lucy looks comically surprised at her outburst, and he’s sure the expression is mirrored on his face.
“Okay, then. Is this a new development, or have you been hiding things from me, your best and also gayest friend?”
“Please, like you’re my gayest friend. One of my friends from college is an activist who writes about being gay. You’re my best friend, though.”
“I’ll take it, but yeah, I’m still waiting on an answer to my question,” he tells her, laughing.
She shakes her head, turning a deep red. “I mean, I kissed some girls in college, but who didn’t?”
“I can assure you that I did not.”
“You know what I mean!”
Jackson takes a sip of his beer, grinning over at her. “I’m just saying, the fact you said ‘girls,’ plural, might mean something.”
“So what if it does?” she asks mulishly.
“Then I would support you, but I’d still have more questions.”
“No, I’ve never had sex with a woman, but I’m not opposed to it.”
“That’s not what I was going to ask, but I will be circling back to that.”
Lucy snorts. “Okay, so…?”
“Listen, I-I kind of thought you liked Tim? Like, like—”
“Oh my god, Jackson!” Her face flames scarlet.
He wags a finger in front of her face emphatically. “Please, don’t act like that’s completely crazy.”
“He was my T.O.! I set him up with one of my best friends!”
“Mmmhmm,” he teases, “your very hot former T.O. who isn’t dating your friend anymore. Who you’ve been just a little possessive of the last couple of days.”
“I-I have not! I was just…I needed some reassurance, which is completely normal. Psychologically speaking.”
“Lucy,” Jackson says gently, “Angela is one of my closest friends. Harper and Nolan have each other’s backs. But none of us look at each other the way you and Tim do.”
Lucy rolls her eyes and sips her drink. “Well, you’re gay and Angela’s a woman. And Nolan and Harper…well, can you imagine what Harper would do if Nolan got a crush on her?”
That is a funny mental image, but he isn’t willing to be sidetracked. “Oh, so you’re admitting to a crush?”
She tosses a throw pillow at him, and he manages to catch it without spilling his beer. He sets it down to avoid any further potential spills.
Gathering his thoughts, he’s quiet. Lucy seems content to sip her drink, her head tipping back after the exhaustion of the day.
Suddenly, he can’t hold it in, and Jackson giggles.
Lucy sits up and quirks an eyebrow. “What?”
“I-I just…you have such a type,” he laughs.
She just looks at him in befuddled questioning.
“Look. Former military turned cop…that athletic build…beautiful down to the cut jawline…Lucy, they even have similar haircuts.”
Lucy stares at him for a long moment, then joins him in raucous laughter. “Oh my god, you’re right. This is horrible.”
“No, this is the best thing ever, and I can’t wait to tell Lopez,” he wheezes, still leaning back into the couch in tipsy amusement.
“Jackson,” she says, growing serious, “no. We will never speak of this again, and you will not tell Lopez.”
“Or what?”
“Or I will feed your Mandalorian figurine to Kojo.”
“You wouldn’t dare.”
“And you wouldn’t dare tell Lopez about this conversation,” she says with a victorious smirk.
“Fine, but don’t think I’m done teasing you about this. For, like, forever.”
“Fine,” Lucy says, rolling her eyes.
Jackson just smiles back at her.

first up! introducing.. Sydney Lynn Webb-Shaw, my protagonist.
Sydney (or Syd) is 19, born on December 27th, making her a Capricorn. her pronouns are she/her. she was born in Missouri to her mother, Isla Webb-Shaw, and father, Colin Shaw-Webb. she's bisexual with a gigantic female lean (aren't we all). she's also on the autism spectrum, along with her mother, little sister and aunt.
she's 5'10. pretty lanky and skinny. literally the worst posture you've ever seen in your life. pale skin (mf has never seen the sun before and it SHOWS). hair cut boyishly short and dyed a retina-burning green (which earned her the nickname "lettuce head" from her family). a strong, hooked nose. dark brown, nearly black eyes that don't seem to reflect light, only absorb it. possibly millions of little freckles that cover her face, neck, shoulders and arms. sharp canines that make her look almost vampirish. a charming, crooked smile. usually seen in knee-length jorts, scuffed up sneakers, big tshirts or sweaters/sweater vests, funky earrings and a shit ton of clay rings made by her eccentric aunt Joesephine. basically the Adam Sandler look but gayer.
personality-wise, Sydney is an ambivert. she's got a razor sharp wit and is insanely sarcastic. she tends to be intense and obsessive, maybe to an off-putting extent to those that don't know, love and understand her. she's always been deeply passionate about being an activist and speaking up for others and herself. already, she's been to many rallies and protests for witches rights along with her grandmother, Lorelei. her mother claims she got her strong sense of justice from Lorelei, and no one else in their little clan refutes that. she loves her entire family very very dearly, though she's always been a little more connected to her grandma, as Syd seems to have been a copy/pasted version of Lor. both women are intensely passionate, fiercely protective of those they love, loud and unafraid to make some serious noise about the things they feel need to be changed, and have pretty much the exact same sense of humor. as her grandmother (who's well over 100 years old) was a suffragette back in the early 20th century, Sydney grew up listening to her tell stories of her adventures and the battles she'd fought in her lifetime. all of the change that Lorelei helped create inspired her to make a difference too; to help those that need it, and rage against the broken system that binds them.
₊✩‧₊˚౨ৎ˚₊✩‧₊ some songs i think Sydney would like...
Paul Blart Mall Cop - Girlhouse
Angry Too - Lola Blanc
Stuck - Daywave
18+ - Scene Queen
Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance (cause i KNOW this girl had a pretentious emo phase at least once in her lifetime)
I Write Sins Not Tragedies - Panic! At The Disco
Dancing with Myself - Billy Idol
Anxiety - Lilyisthatyou
that's all i can tell you about her right now, as i myself am only just beginning to get to know her. she, like the rest of the cast and the manuscript itself are still in their pre-alpha-hello-neighbor phases (the girls that get it, get it and the girls that don't, don't) so as the story and characters grow and change i'll update the characters profiles !!
thank you for reading <3 stay safe, and my dms are always open!

This fucking “you have a cat ears and i think they cute” stuff is stuck in my brain for tooooo long and not for a good reasons like “ah its a cute thing in confession” (outside of cute animation, i cant lie to myself that i didnt was “omg they move cute c:” in this whole scene okay? Im sucker when R/WBY pull up cute characters animation and going a great job.).
People already talk about strange Yang complementing Blake ears because its sound too close to some people having...tooooo much strange attraction to black people or specific parts of black people. Ehhhhh........................... Listen i wish its was “you have beautiful eyes” kinda lvl of compliment but you cant just...make human character compliment her faunus girlfriend that she has cute ears when before that for 7-8 volume calling faunus just animals was a bad fucking thing (AGAIN you cant just jump from “faunus racism is the thing in this world” into “omg cute animal people! cute ears and animal traits!”. Just because you kill Jaques do not mean “we destroy racism, racism no more!”)
I wish i can say that “its just Yang way to say compliments” and confession scene even HAD “Yang being shit in compliments\flirting” with “you got a good...brain” but its still dont work because with what we have its sound like not the best thing to say to faunus person. She can compliment litteraly other thing in Blake looks that will not totch this whole aspect. Hell, you can even bring up “Yang talking about Blake hair” and kinda involve this compliment into “you change so much” kinda deal? Or go into “beautiful eyes” thing. Its basic af, but its work + people love analysing this fact that they have complimentary eyes colors (and i say this as a fucking FairGame shipper and we ATE this “parallels in the eyes colors” shit) so its can work even on lvl “you have beautiful eyes”. OR if you REALLY want to talk about ears, why not bring up thing about bow? (and maybe finally do something with “Yang having zero connection with the fact that her partner is in minority group who is also activist and we do not know what she even thinking about this at all”) Literally anything, why “cute cat ears”?
Even if we imagine that there is no racism allegory and there is just...animal people and thats it, its still strange to hear and go into “character dont interact enough” or “bring the stuff that you was thinking was never a thing or was no question”. Before this i was thinking that they never show us more non-flirting interactions with Blake and Yang and with other characters just in general because we have small around of episode and “uh we cant just put characters interactions in between big plot”. I accept that Yang dealing with her prosthetic, trauma and Blake dealing with her problems and “post killing” affects will be offscreen like FINE OKAY I GUESS THIS IS NOT THAT INTERESTING MAKE CHARACTERS DEALS WITH THEY TRAUMA (not “trauma porn” just healing process). But with this one compliment i just now cannot think. Now this one thing telling me they not just interact off screen but you telling me they didnt even had like friendly interactions?
Like...i dont know i maybe dont get it. Maybe i just have this privilege to tell easily to my friends how cool they are or how cute they look and friends can also tell me openly about this without go into “omg are we flirting? Are you trying to do something there?”. Maybe i just was lucky to tell people, who i hardly can call “a friends” but more like “acquaintances”, that i like they new cool haircut or they cool at this one thing. Maybe i JUST lucky bitch but if this is really normal thing to do and this is not just me...you telling me they never talk about simple stuff like this and this is was always “flirt action” type of interactions?
I maybe overreacting about this, i maybe nitpicking or this is just thing that a problem only for me, you can openly tell me! This confession scene had other thing to write about a whole ass post for a good or really bad reasons.
I just think such a simple thing in such a important scene that some people was waiting since vol1 is giving bad taste in mouth. Simple stuff is important.

On the wag debate: I just think it’s crazy the way we talk about women vs men. When and f1 driver does something it’s forgiven a lot faster, yes there will be a media shitstorm for a time and there may be a small group of people who still care, but life goes on pretty quickly. When one of the wags does, or in many cases did something (a long time in the past), it is talked about for years as a reason to hate them. Like, obviously I don’t know these people who a lot about these specific situations but:
1. Carmen supports a homophobic author— did she know he was homophobic? I don’t know about you, sometimes I just read a book and tell other people about it without ever looking into what the author thinks and believes. We all read and talk about Harry Potter despite JK Rowling being an actual shit.
2. Alex liking racist, classist tweets. I don’t know what she liked or enough about that, to be honest. But you have to appreciate that Alex is only 21 now, and those tweets were from the past? So she would’ve been in her late teens. It is in no way right but she was also a literal child in that sense.
Basically what I’m saying is that while yes, many wags have done and said things that aren’t ok and accountability is important, we as a society need to accept that they are learning and growing and making mistakes in the public eye, and they will fuck up majorly sometimes. It seems like, the general public only want to support “the perfect woman” when in reality that doesn’t not, and will not exist, because all humans live in a state of imperfection.
I think we as a society need to stop expecting that just because people have 100k followers that they’re any more intelligent, informed, or politically correct than the people we meet on the street. I don’t know the history or voting record of every person I follow, or whose work or content I consume, and no one expects that of me. I also consume the work and content of people of whom I’m not a personal fan. I don’t boycott Chanel because Coco Chanel was a n*zi. My grandfather was a Holocaust survivor and he loved Hugo Boss clothing. Our every day lives are full of contradictions, and wags are people, so theirs are, too. Why do we expect so much from them? Who are they, really, except pretty girls who date boys?
As for Alexandra…people need to stay out of her damn Twitter likes. Who scrolled down through 5 years of likes to find that tweet that she probably doesn’t remember. P A T H E T I C. And unless the people complaining about that tweet (which they really shouldn’t be because you don’t know her, or what her opinions are now) are having a fight every time their conservative great uncle/family friend/grandma says something a little politically charged at the dinner table, STFU. Because I guarantee you the majority of people bitching about Alex’s likes on Twitter aren’t willing to say half that shit to people in their own lives. So they don’t really care, they just want to hate on her specifically.
People need to leave people alone. These are not social activists or politicians, their lives and opinions do not affect you. Just let them live 😂

StarSwinger
13/06/2023
This is basically an info dump on my ATSV oc.
Story:
So I've come up with this neat idea for a spider person. Her name's StarSwinger and she's blind. Her actual name is Stella Bennet and she's a 17 year old aroace person looking to become a historian (and an activist for human rights because the human rights in her dimension are shit)
She was bit at the age of 15 in her science class, they were learning about spiders and her teacher had brought in some spiders for the class to observe. So Stella's sitting back and listening to a video on spiders because her teacher is nice and gave her a list of videos explaining everything about the species that had been brought in.
One of the spiders slipped out of the habitat and bit her. It wasn't too big of a deal cause the spiders weren't venomous but that spider had been exposed to a radioactive substance and this bite resulted in Stella gaining spider based powers.
Because Stella had been blind her whole life her other senses were very heightened but with this new power she becomes able to hear everything including a change in the wind as well as feel changes in her environment like the vibrations of people stepping and stuff.
She tells her step sister, Adelaide, about these powers she's just gotten and Adelaide, who happens to be an art and textiles student makes her a super-hero costume as a joke. It's prussian blue with yellow around the eyes, one eye just has a thin line but the others marking resembles a star. I'll probably make some updates to this costume though.(i'll upload a ref sheet at a later date)
A few days after receiving the costume this universes version of Doc Ock attacks and Stella ends up actually using this costume to fight her. From this moment on Stella starts using the alias StarSwinger to protect her city.
Her style of fighting is close to how a spider catches its prey, she puts up webs all around the area she's fighting in that means if anything touches the webs she'll be made aware of the mass of the thing as well as what part of her web it's come from. She also uses her extremally heightened sense to detect disturbed patches of air to figure out where the villain is.
These are the websites I got the spider info from, they do contain pictures of spiders so don't look at it if you don't want to see that: https://australian.museum/learn/animals/spiders/prey-capture-and-feeding/ https://www.wildlifesydney.com.au/information/news/how-do-spiders-catch-their-prey-1/ https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/article/140605-spiders-silk-webs-pluck-string-vibrations
She was 16 when her canon event happened. She was fighting some crazy overpowered guy and realises that this villain was pushing her out of the web zone (area where she's set up the webs) so StarSwinger's putting up more and more webs as this fight goes on but this guy is coming at her crazy fast and is aiming for her heart.
She's then alerted that there is someone really close to them, at this point she doesn't know if its a friend or foe so she remains focused on this main guy she's fighting. After a while she's knocked down and knows she's about to receive the killing blow when this person who she still doesn't know jumps in front of her and takes the strike for her.
This villain retreats cause that was not part of their plan and StarSwinger's left alone with this dying person who just sacrificed their life for her and she asks who they are and why they would do that for her and the person responds with.
"You would do it for me, you risk you're life for this city everyday they need you. " and it turns out that Adelaide's the one who's currently about to die and Stella's crying because she's holding the one person who knows that she's StarSwinger, the one person she can talk to.
Stella starts apologising over and over again but Adelaide tells her to stop because if she had the chance to go back she would make the same decision every time and she tells Stella not to give up because she's so much stronger than she believes.
Adelaide dies in StarSwingers arms but Stella knows that she has to keep going so her sisters sacrifice was not in vain. She vows to protect the city at any cost and she vows to make the ones that killed her sister pay.
---------------
Background Info:
So as a side note to the story I want her universe to be pretty far behind ours on human rights so minorities are very much disrespected and targets in their society. StarSwinger is the key to opening peoples eyes to show their world that disabilities are not a burden and to show her world that she is strong.
She's a third Italian a third Filipino and a third Welsh.
She's aromantic and asexual.
She's in a platonic relationship with a boy names James.
Her full name is Stella Santos Lian Bennet
Her step sisters full name is Adelaide Kara McKent
Her fathers full name is Owen Seren Bennet
Her step mothers full name is Jesse Kurulbrang Koorla McKent
---------------
That's all I've figured out so far cause I don't really have any idea what I'm doing. I'm 14 and I've tried to do all the research I can to make her story accurate but please tell me if I should take anything into account when it comes to the fact that she's blind. I don't mean any disrespect so I'd appreciate some feedback.

Is it wrong to side-eye people who never before liked Disney but suddenly go all gaga over the remakes? Considering these remakes are horrible copy-pastes of the og classics it just gives me insidious thoughts. I dunno, but after hearing for years from folks how Ariel was "Problematic" for giving her voice for a man and suddenly all these same people adore Remake Ariel (who does the same thing as og Ariel, she barely changed) is just..odd. Isn't she still problematic in their eyes?
No, I honestly do it too because people who are flighty like that feel disingenuous. I find it really strange when people do a 180 on anything they like with no context or natural time for change to actually occur. All the criticisms I've seen about Ariel from the 1989 movie are totally unfounded, and people just hated to hate her (ALSO don't even get me started on the fact that those same people who STILL believe that junk about the original movie are turning a blind eye to the really offensive "fixes" of the remake and how it's still a white director and writing team that's supposed to be telling a black woman's- in this version- story and in doing so stumble SO BADLY, but that's another conversation for another time) but a lot of people have openly said that the main reason they're supporting Halle's Ariel is because she's an Ariel that looks like them and they want to support a film with a leading actress that's a woman of color, and I appreciate their honestly. I mean, honestly, she does a better job than the other actresses they cast in the past and wanting to celebrate talent of color is, in and of itself, always a good thing.
I do know a quotient of white people, however, who go above and beyond to overly compliment the movie- and have done so even before it came out or we saw a trailer- and they never liked the story or the character previously (and were very vocal in expressing their disapproval for OG Ariel, while they literally copied OG Ariel's songs and plot and dialogue in sooo many instances in the remake) and, unfortunately, I kinda feel like it's the 2023 version of "I'm not homophobic, I have a gay friend." They feel like they are subliminally telling people that, by supporting this movie, they're not racist and it's an image correction for themselves of sorts, because incidentally these white people I'm thinking about all have extremely checkered pasts. And when they all parrot the exact same opinions about the film and talking points, it just irritates me because, especially as a minority myself, it's easy come easy go. Fairweather activists and allies definitely aren't what any community needs and that's the only way I could classify people who just generically follow whatever they think is socially acceptable at the time, to the point where anything they say is meritless, and blends in with the cultural landscape at the time, because sometimes the pervasive thought isn't for the better. Luckily, right now, we are in a place where diversity is celebrated, but if that isn't the case in the future, will those people who flip on a dime go back to being the aggressors and the people fighting against minorities? Those types of things scare me and honestly those thoughts are ones I have all the time, especially as a minority. Does this person actually mean their support, or are they doing it to course correct? Do they actually want to become better people, or are they doing it because they feel like they have to? Do they like me/want to respect me, or is it just want approval from me represents for them? Is all of this change and progress for the better and permanent- or could it be taken away overnight?
Also, there are genuinely so many problems with the live action movie and no one's saying anything about it, which is fine like people are allowed to enjoy this movie, but...for all the things wrong with it, especially for a film that's come in 2023, I would like to see more discourse around it so that change can actually happen and improvement can occur instead of this weird "we cast one person of color! Act like you're happy and it's perfect with these crumbs we're throwing you or else" mentality that's circulating. You can approve of Halle in the role and still see the issues with the production and the completed film. You can want more people of color in films and still speak to some of the problematic elements from the live action. And I think the marketing for this film and all the conversation surrounding it has kinda promoted this false belief in people that if they don't blindly support this film, people of color will never be in media again??? Which is insane. Most of the films that are out right now have talent of color as the leads and it's only going to continue, more so, in the future. So again, you can support talent of color and still advocate for when they're being mistreated or when a film isn't where it should be with the other creative talent, the surrounding cast, even if the marketing in and of itself is something that's riddled with issues.
