No. Legit. Why is Saint Mesa's music not more popular? I am flabbergasted. I'm a bit in love.

Spotify arbitrarily suggested a couple of this guy's songs to me months ago and I-- hello? Where has this been all my life? Every one I listen to is a banger. What. And then I got Tim hooked by flicking new tracks that I'd found at him. And now I think he's listened to all of them and I'm still catching up. He even wandered over to the the Saint Mesa Instagram and left a comment about how damn good these songs are. And got a reply! Delightful. But I see the numbers on these tracks and they're way lower than I feel they should be. So I'm sharing. Because that's how this works.

Have you heard of the pop artist Saint Mesa? I was kinda on the fence about him and then I heard this song...thought it was really pretty and kind of fantasy/mystical sounding till I found out its a Hillsong Megachurch (fundie cult with major influence) original. Regardless of whether or not you had, I thought you would maybe find it interesting as I can see how this song would really easily make its way through pagan and spiritual circles if you weren't aware of its origin. Feels sinister.

Never heard of 'em before. And I just listened to that song, and yeah, I can see how people could get caught up in the ocean and water imagery and miss the Christianisms in there at first pass. (EG, "find you in the mystery," "my faith will stand," "your grace abounds," "in the presence of my savior," etc.)

@ailonwy tagged me in "five songs you're currently listening to" !!! I LOVE THIS PROMT, THANK YOU!!!!! cries
idk who to tag, so I'll just... @umberandmochaagate @theyaremydivision @healinghoe @gandy-alf @vincentheodorus no pressure tho!
So I'll start with my top song of 2022 (and I bet 2023 too lol)
1. Venice May -Limerence
well well well.. what do we have here. This one is on one of my OC Playlists. The OC means so much to me and so does this song. I can feel a whole bunch of emotions listening to this, the slow build-up, the vocals, the instrumental THE LYRICS!! Absolute masterpiece in my eyes
"Your love is violent
Your love is like a fired gun
Heavy and silent, so silent
Before what it's done
I know I cannot stay here any longer
I knew long ago
It's over, still I'm waiting like a soldier
For the final blow"
It starts slow but the "hold you, let me" following afterwards just holds so much emotion and YEARNING! DELICIOUS! Followed by this:
"What lovers, what lovers we were
What lovers we were when there were carpets of grass
Then something shattered and it all went so awry
We couldn't make it a mile for all the pieces of glass
There's nothing for me out there
Nothing, not even the sun
The moment I step out the door
And look up to the sky it's gone
Sometimes a light gets through
And I remember how it was before
Like there was something else ahead
I can't quite make out anymore"
AS THE VOCALS GET A LITTLE BIT MORE AGGRESSIVE, THE INSTUMENTAL TAKES UP AND IT JUST KINDA LIKE EXPLODES!!!!!! SHE REALLY CANT QUITE MAKE IT OUT ANYMORE!!!!!
HOLD YOU, LET ME!!!!!!!! *screams*
ok thanks, I will be totally normal about the other songs, I promise
2. Saint Mesa - Prodigal
Currently listening a lot to this. I put this on a AU playlist of OCs. At first I was like "How hard can hit me a AU?" Answer: A lot. Definitely cried to this.
"But I'm coming back to you"
3. Johnny Goth - Bleed for me
Another song for a scenario of my OC.... I can't say that much since fellow players follow me on tumblr but this song is so hunting, somehow threatening?? Beautiful
"Keep your heart to yourself
No exception, don't let your love taint someone else
It's clear to see you're alone
And you always have been
What happened to you?"
4. Sleep Token - Hypnosis
... somehow this became a song for my Paladin , I associate it with him. I can't explain why. It isn't even on his Playlist but this song just somehow radiates desperation and some kind of yearning and a little bit insanity lol, I love it
"Sink, sink your teeth
Split my skin, no
Just make me bleed
Oh, and give
Give me all
All that I want
Just give me all"
side eye 👀
5. Greg Puciato - Evacuation
Man, the vibe of this song is phenomenal. Again, haunting, with a spark of insanity and AGAIN DESPERATION AND YEARNING??? OR IS IT JUST ME? I love the slow built up and the guitars in the background and the screaming parts when it comes to the refrain. I have a whole ass video to my OC in my head to this song.
"Don't you and I belong?
Oh, where did I go wrong?"
