Just having a think about Half Alive's Now, Not yet again. In my own opinion, it's definitely their best album, half because it's a brilliant indie-rock-pop-electro-amalgamation, and half because it holds a very special sentiment with me.

That whole album is so unsure and wary of the present, and all the things it affects, yet so accepting of it.

I mean, lyrically, that much is obvious throughout all the tracks. Ok ok's "Far too great a toll it's played on me; the animal of destiny" and RUNAWAY'S "I hold my life out in front of me, dreams of who I want to be, I'm seeing every empty page".

And what is possibly my favourite line ever; Arrow's "The hardest place to be is right where you are."

Because they're right. We can be haunted by the past, we can worry as much as we want about the future, because the hardest place to be is the present. Present eventually becomes past and our actions during this time solidifies our future. Present is horrifying because it slips through our fingers faster than we even know; it's the hardest place to be.

The album constantly runs over the fear of the present and, consequently, the future, and being unable to escape it so well. But, sewn throughout the songs, I'd pure acceptance and joy at simply living.

RUNAWAY is a direct statement; you don't have to runaway from it all. It's hard, it's scary, but you don't have to runaway.

Still Feel is a shout that despite it all, they still feel alive. When it's hopeless, they start to notice that, because they feel hopeless, they're still alive and can change for the better.

TrusT speaks of the horrors of learning how to have faith in people, but the realisation of how good it is to trust someone is.

BREAKFAST acts as a sentimental contemplation to TrusT; it's the aftermath of it, in a way.

Finally, Creature is a love letter to humanity. A thank you for being made the way they were made. It feels like the first rays of warm sun after Winter. It's acceptance. They're not afraid of it all, they're fine with being made out of worn clay, because in the end they're still be haunted and Holy; recovering the beauty of discovery.

It's something I wish I could do, in short. I see myself in this album more than I'd like to admit. It's probably why I resonate with it so much.
