The choice
Tommy Shelby x reader
An evening at Arrow House (2K followers celebration) my dear Lee @zablife I love the theme you choose for this celebration and congratulations once more for reaching 2K followers! That’s a bunch and you deserve each one of them and even more! THANK YOU for sharing your incredible talent and kindness in this fandom, I’m so grateful to have met you on here ✨
Request: From anon, darling I don’t know a lot about the super hero world, but this idea kind of sounds similar (?) I hope so! Please let me know what you think and feel free to send another request if you don’t feel pleased with this
Summary: Tommy is losing Ruby from consumption, so he rushes to ask for help to a woman he had heard owns some kind of special power. But changing the course of things around has consequences.
⚠️ Mentions of people passing away, spirits, Gypsy curses, witchcraft.

This had to be a mistake.
God, no please no… anyone but his little Ruby.
His hands were shaking, his stomach in a tight knot.
“I want another opinion.” His statement was adamant.
“Mr. Shelby I wish I could give you a different diagnose, unfortunately-”
“Nevertheless I want another opinion.” Tommy stated firmly and left the Doctor’s office without another word.
He’d pay anything to make Ruby feel better.
Torn between the common sense and this need to get answers, he suddenly remembered of a woman Polly was always going to, she had told him a couple of times she owned a special power but he was skeptical about it.
Stopping his car at the modest neighborhood, Tommy’s hand wrapped around the steering wheel tightly. Knuckles white from the force, he was fighting the tears back.
“Go inside Tommy.” Polly’s voice took him by surprise, moving his head up, he found his aunt sitting in the backseat.
“Pol.”
“You’re running out of time, Thomas.”
In a blink she was gone and Tommy felt his chest heavy.
Clearing his throat, Tommy knocked on the door and took a step back, but no one opened so he waited a few more seconds until he noticed the small curtain moving abruptly.
“I don’t owe the Peaky Blinders anything.” A female voice shouted from the other side of the door.
“I need to talk to Y/N Y/L/N.”
“You’ll led me to trouble, Mr. Shelby.”
Tommy started banging on the door desperately, forcing her to open up before the entire block could notice.
“My aunt, Polly Gray talked to me about you.”
“I only helped her sew a few buttons.” She covered her face under the hood of her cape.
“No… you helped her to see Anna one more time, you helped her to say goodbye to her daughter.” He pointed out firmly, breathing heavy, heartbeat drumming against his ribcage.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She was shaking her head profusely, and in a hurried attempt, she tried to close the door, but Tommy’s hand made it impossible then he squeezed his shoulder in the small gap between the door and the doorframe. “Mr. Shelby!”
“I need your help… please.” He struggled with his voice, shoulders tense. “My daughter is sick.”
He never asked for help, never begged for anything.
But a lot of things were different lately.
“My daughter, Ruby s-she is sick, the doctor said it’s consumption.” He looked away as his eyes filed with tears. “And I think she’s cursed.”
“I’m really sorry to hear this, Mr. Shelby… unfortunately there’s nothing I can do, I’m just a seamstress.”
Tommy tried to look at her, but she was hiding her features behind the shadows. The small hopes he had been holding were shattered in mere seconds. He was lost for words, felt helpless, powerless.
“My aunt said you have some kind of power, guess she was wrong… anyways sorry for bothering you.”
She reached out her hand for him as he turned around, noticing the worry in his voice, his request seemed genuine and it was so so hard to watch him leave defeated.
Even though she had the best intentions to help people in need, sometimes she got in troubles for that same reason. Just like everything, there was good and bad in witchcraft, it wasn’t something to take slightly or as a joke, you don’t want to mess up with a spirit. Having the power to change the course of life was something she had taken seriously and used her gift with caution. But she needed to be careful. Loads of witches had been hanged or burned alive for this exact same reason.
To keep her mind busy, she started working on the jacket resting by the chair, it was from her neighbor, the poor man lost his wife weeks ago and when she heard the news and rushed to the house next door, Beth demanded to let her rest in peace, she had already dealt with enough problems all her life to make her come back from the death. But before Beth left, she pointed at the jacket and showed her a hole in the pocket, so here she was hunted down by her restless soul for almost a week for not sewing it yet.
“There you go Beth, you can now rest in peace.” She exhaled loudly and left the jacket by the door, to give it to Harry in the morning.
Turning around, she gasped as another restless soul took her by surprise. “Fuck.” She covered her heart with the palm of her hand as the soul approached her.
“I need to ask you for another favor, Y/N.”
“Polly you shouldn’t be here.”
She was used by now to seeing the souls of people who passed away already, they were everywhere, looking for the chance to communicate with those who they used to love, she was just an instrument, a bridge for them and those who were still alive.
“I know darling, but you really need to help my nephew… little Ruby she’s been feeling poorly.”
“Polly I can’t change the course of life and death, you know that.”
“Are you sure? She’s just a girl, a great kid… she has big dreams, a bright future in Hollywood.”
“If I promise to check, will you let me sleep?”
“Thank you.” Polly smiled and disappeared in a blink.
But of course, Y/N wasn’t able to rest for a minute, all night tossing and turning in bed, hunted by the sadness she found in Mr. Shelby’s eyes as he asked for her help. So it was still early when she left her home and headed to the hospital, rushing past the empty corridors, packed with all the souls stuck there, trying to reach for her to make contact with their loved ones, asking for mercy, some of them didn’t even understand they didn’t belong to this world anymore.
But soon she found the room she had been looking for, a beautiful girl with dark long hair resting with an oxygen mask over her nose and mouth, battling with some cough. Sensing someone approaching, she rushed to hide around the corner of the hall, catching the fabric of a black coat, she observed the man who visited her last night, getting rid of the gloves and taking a deep breath he closed his fits tightly as if he was trying to collect all the strength from the world before entering his daughter’s hospital room.
Tiptoeing, Y/N got closer to the door and her heart broke into a million pieces as she heard his words.
“My little girl, I’d give anything I own to see you well and healthy, you know that?” He was holding of her small hands, not wearing anything for protection. “Anything, this life… it doesn’t makes sense without you. I’m so sorry for getting you involved in this bloody curse, my little love hang in there for me, will ya? I’m going to look for Esme, she’ll now what to do.”
And as she saw that imposing and relentless man break down and cry by the feet of his daughter’s hospital bed she knew right there she had to do something.
Or at least try to.
Y/N hid in the corner again as Mr. Shelby stormed out of the room.
It took her a good part of the day to get to the girl, since a couple of nurses walked into the room after Mr. Shelby left, then a slim, tall woman entered wearing a mask, her eyes were teary and she was holding a handkerchief. She brushed the girl’s hair and held her when she started coughing badly. It was until the Doctor called her to her office that she left, giving her the opportunity to step in.
Eventually, as she reached the bed, Ruby opened her eyes.
“Are you here to take me to heaven?”
“No, Ruby I’m here to cure you.” She smiled as the girl nodded.
*****
“Where the fuck have you been?!” Lizzie exploded, tears rolling down her cheeks.
Tommy stopped, rain pouring down heavily. His heart stopped beating, blood ran down to his body, he felt dizzy and angry.
The nightmare finally became a reality, he had been dreaming of this for so many nights, Ruby was gone. His daughter was gone.
Lizzie hit him in the chest. “Ruby, Ruby she’s so sick and you left us alone!” She charged against him again.
At least she was still alive.
Leaning against the closest wall, Tommy felt like he didn’t have anymore strength left in his body, legs giving up and he slid down to sit on the step. Noticing Lizzie’s breakdown he could only wrap an arm around her shoulders in some kind of comfort.
Looking up, his eyes found a shadow at the other side of the street, someone with a long cape with a hood stared at them. He had to blink a couple of times to register what was happening, but she walked away before he had time to react.
“Mr. Shelby? Can we have a word in my office please?”
“What happened?” Demanded Lizzie standing up.
“It’s about your daughter, sh-she’s cured I don’t understand how this happened, there’s no medical evidence of her illness anymore.” The Doctor took off his glasses and wiped his chin.
Tommy couldn’t believe what he just heard, there was no medical evidence of the damage the consumption could’ve left in Ruby’s lungs, she was sitting on her bed with a wide smile on her face trying to hide the fact that she wanted to jump on the hospital bed and leave already to go home, Tommy rushed to her side and cupped her face between his shaky hands. Was he dreaming of this moment?
He looked from the Doctor to his daughter again in disbelief.
“I’d suggest a couple of days to run more tests.”
“Ruby, Ruby.” He chanted, feeling like his heart could come out of his chest any minute now. “Yes of course, Doctor.”
As Lizzie proposed she should stay for the night with her daughter, Tommy agreed and left the hospital but instead of heading home, he drove somewhere else.
Almost an hour later, he was knocking on the door, the place was only illuminated by a small lamp. His hands were shaking, he wanted to kick the door already.
“Mr. Shelby it’s so late.” Y/N stated but moved to the side to let him come in.
And for the first time, he realized of her features consuming a few seconds to fully take in her. Beautiful and delicate features. It was like getting a sharp hit in the gut. Her beauty was out of this world, he took a step back as he wasn’t prepared to find such rare and unique beauty in one person. Lavender pupils staring back at him, he had never seen another pair of eyes like those guarded by thick eyelashes a deep contrast to the pale skin but in complete harmony with the curly dark locks around her shoulders.
“I’m just here to give you this.” He took a small sack from his pocket, he opened and showed her gold.
“I can’t take it.”
But he pressed one more time. “Please, it’s the least I can do.”
Y/N shook her head folding her arms. “Mr. Shelby I’m not supposed to change the course of things. It’s a delicate thing to do to take a soul from the death and now I’ve to ask you one thing.”
“Anything.”
“You have two more sons…” he just heard about Duke thanks to Esme, but immediately he knew he had his blood. “Which one of them will you give me?”
Tommy looked at her in confusion. “I don’t understand.”
“I stopped Ruby from dying, it’s a life for a life. Which one of your sons will you give me in exchange for your daughter’s life?”
It was one of the hardest things to do, but she had to in order to keep the spirits at bay.
Swallowing hard, Tommy felt a vein pulsing on his forehead.
Y/N looked at her hands for an instant.
There was no way he could choose between Charlie and Duke, they were opposite in so many ways but they were both his sons, and he loved them more than he could express.
“Can you take mine instead?”
“Yes… but what about your wife?”
Tommy shook his head, still too startled by her to form anything coherent. Her cold palm came to rest on his cheekbone, in a tender motion.
“I’ve been waiting all my life for you.”

A/N: I’ve always wanted to write something like this! The idea felt so easy, I tried to create a mix between a good witch and a medium (if you don’t believe it’s just fine) but I’ve always found so intriguing those people who have the gift to communicate with people who passed away… if you liked it and you have a couple of minutes don’t forget to leave your valuable feedback ♥️

It's weird to think Vol 10 of RWBY just straight up might never happen. much less further volumes. No matter how bad it got I would still have loved some form of ending but Barabas comments don't paint a hopeful picture. Alas fics of RWBY will go until the end of time.
It's very weird. Most shows I come across have either already concluded, or give their audience an estimate of when things will wrap up ('We're planning another two seasons and each takes us about two years to film, so...'). I have shows that unexpectedly get more content after providing an ambiguous, but still satisfying ending (Alice in Borderland), shows where each season is self-contained so it can end whenever without issue (Bake Off), shows that were cut short and had to scramble to wrap up (Sense8), and of course there are always shows that are straight up cancelled and can't do a thing to mitigate that... but RWBY feels almost, almost unique in this combination. It's a webseries rather than a traditional TV show. It's gone on for a decade with absolutely no indication of where it's heading. Each season feels threatened to the point where the fandom can no longer differentiate between a real cancellation concern and Internet exaggeration. The story has hit what's arguably its most important narrative peak - the team has traversed an alternate world, Ruby has "overcome" drinking the tea, Summer finally appears on screen - only for news of the story's future to remain frustratingly vague. Not only have we never had a sense of when RWBY's story will end, now we don't even have confirmation of whether it will end. That's such a frustrating way to approach storytelling given that your audience relies on some level of commitment to remain engaged.
I too want RWBY to finish up because I am not immune to the Sunk Cost Fallacy: I put this much time into the series and it needs to satisfy me with a conclusion, even if the conclusion itself will inevitably be unsatisfying. Outside of any normal disappointment with a story you love getting the ax, I generally don't mind embracing unfinished works. I read abandoned fics, watch cancelled shows, browse barely started comics, because getting a taste of the world is always worth it if it's compelling to me. I never regret meeting characters whose stories go untold because as a writer myself I can at least imagine that on my own terms. But RWBY? Losing it now would be a real kick in the teeth. I personally don't think the story is salvageable at this point, but at the very least fans deserve a conclusion: one that will likely please a lot of devoted viewers and allow critical fans to put a satisfying tick mark on the box in our heads labeled "RWBY."
Given its popularity I wouldn't be surprised if RWBY wound up cancelled and then concluded in a comics run, or a one-off movie. Beyond the fact that this would no doubt mess up the writing even more (now you have to iron out this mess of a plot on a time limit, in a new medium, with new authors!) it would, unfortunately, be kind of hilarious too:
[generic tour guide voice] "Hello. Welcome to RWBY. Our fandom is known for having copious side stories connected to the canon in confusing ways. Some are incidental to the main series. Some outright contradict it. Some are crucial to your understanding of the primary plot and must be engaged with in a timely manner. These texts range from comic runs to random bits of information in abandoned mobile games. Please note that this corpus did not grow naturally across decades of storytelling, as is the case with fandoms like Star Trek and Star Wars, but was rather cobbled together by RT in an attempt to 'fix' numerous, ongoing issues with the webseries. Our latest addition? The ending. Yes, if you would like to finish RWBY please refer to this index of sources that together provide a semi-cohesive conclusion to a ten year show. Now, on your left you'll see the ongoing brawl as fans attempt to determine whether this index is canonical or not. Please watch your step..."

A Christmas Miracle-Chapter 1
Fandom: Supergirl
Characters: Lena Luthor, Kara Danvers, Ruby Arias, Santa Claus, Streaky the cat
Summary: After her last two breakups, Lena doesn't think there is love out there for her. However, will Ruby's wish to Santa make Lena a believer in miracles?
Lena stood in line scrolling throw her email on her phone. She sighed because she had finished all of her work emails and was bored out of her mind. She looked down next to her and saw her six-year-old niece Ruby still jumping up and down full of energy. They have been waiting in line for over an hour to see Santa. She was honestly surprised that she had this level of enthusiasm. When she was her age, she would have thrown a fit. However, Ruby had been the perfect example of patience and positivity. It caused Lena to smile. She wished that she had that level of positivity. With Lex trying to kill her constantly or trying to take over her company, she honestly was surprised she hadn’t gone insane. If it wasn’t for Ruby, Ruby's mom Sam, and Lena’s stepmother Lillian, she probably would have.
Lena was jolted out of her thoughts when she heard Ruby scream, “It’s our turn, Auntie Lena!”
Lena looked up to see Ruby sprinting to Santa’s lap. Lena chuckled and quickly followed.
Santa pulled Ruby up on his lap and asked, “What is your name, dear child?”
Ruby beamed and said, “My name is Ruby!”
Santa smiled and said, “It is nice to meet you, Ruby. What kind of gifts are you looking forward to for Christmas.”
Ruby shook her head and said, “I don’t need you to bring me presents this year Santa.”
Santa frowned and asked, “You don’t?”
Ruby shook her head and said, “I need your help with something very important.”
Lena was startled. She never thought that she would see the day that Ruby would forgo presents. She was quite curious about what she considered more important than a Christmas gift.
Santa looked at her quizzically, “Okay, what problem are you having?”
Ruby turned to Lena, pointed, and said, “I need a miracle. My Auntie Lena needs help.”
Lena looked baffled and said, “Ruby, I don’t need any help.”
Ruby turned to Santa with a worried look on her face and said, “She is lying. She thinks that love doesn’t exist. I need to make her believe again.”
Lena chuckled nervously and said, “Ruby that isn’t true. I believe that love exists. I love you, your mommy, and your grandma Lillian very much.”
Ruby rolled her eyes at her. She turned back to Santa and said, “She’s nervous because she knows that is not what I mean. She doesn’t believe in finding true love anymore. Auntie Lena is awesome and deserves the best true love in the entire world.”
Lena started rubbing the back of her neck and laughing nervously.
“Ruby, I have taught you that you don’t need to be in a relationship to have a successful life.”
Ruby pouted at her and said, “You are sad all the time now since Andrea left. When I sleep over at your apartment, I hear you cry in your room at night wishing she would come back.” She turned to Santa and said, “Please don’t bring her back into her life. My mom said that she is a bad word, but it does rhyme with witch.”
Santa tried to stifle a chuckle. Lena looked at both of them mortified. She always thought she hid her emotions well around Ruby, but clearly she was wrong. Her last two relationships nearly destroyed her. When she was in college, she had dated Jack for 4 years. She thought that her relationship with him was going well until he bailed. Stated that being around her was a hazard. By that point, Lex had tried to kill her three times. The third time Jack took a bullet that was meant for her that put him in the hospital for three months. She was devastated that he broke up with her, but at least she understood it. Being with her was a hazard, and while she was willing to be his ride or die, she understood him not feeling the same way.
Lena stayed single after that for two years until she met Andrea. She was a force of nature that swept her off her feet. She constantly surprised her with trips, flowers, chocolates, and love notes. She felt so loved and spoiled. Lena wanted to spend the rest of her life with her and often was scared that it was too good to be true. And it was. A couple of months ago, a hysterical woman broke into her building demanding to see her claiming Lena stole her wife and destroyed their family. Lena thought the lady was nuts until she had her private investigator do some digging and found out that Andrea not only was married but had five kids. She was devastated. What made matters worse was that Andrea’s wife sold her story to a popular tabloid. Now Lena not only gets blamed for Lex’s shenanigans but she is considered a homewrecker too. As much as she hated Andrea, she still wanted her back and that made her feel terrible. She wished that she could get over her. She barely left the house other than to go to work because it was one of the few things that kept her distracted. That and baking. Her house has been overflowing with baked treats like bread, muffins, and cakes since she left Andrea. Today was Lena’s first outing somewhere other than work in over three months. She only came because Sam agreed to go to a conference she had been avoiding hosted by Morgan Edge in Metropolis. She said the major thing Lena would have to do was to take Ruby to see Santa. Lena thought it would be a quick trip in and out. Now, Lena was regretting that decision.
Lena forced a smile and said, “I know that I was sad, but I am doing much now.”
Ruby pouted at her and said, “No you're not. Sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what you want in a true love.”
Lena sighed. She was starting to become frustrated and she didn’t want to draw attention to herself.
“Ruby, dear. I don’t need anyone for Christmas. I am fine. I promise you.”
“No you’re not!” shouted Ruby while becoming teary-eyed.
Lena was on the brink of tears. She knew that Ruby meant well, but this was all too much.”
“Ruby, if I sit on Santa’s lap and tell him my Christmas wish for a partner, will you drop this and never speak of this again.”
“Yes!” Ruby beamed.
Ruby hurried up and got off of Santa’s lap so Lena could sit down. Lena rolled her eyes and gradually went to sit on Santa’s lap.
“How does this work exactly?” muttered Lena.

A few random thoughts about Episode 61. Spoilers for the episode below, reader beware.
I am begging Ashton Greymoore to please, pretty please, for the love of everything, actually talk to someone other than Laudna about the Hishari. It is past time for advancement in that storyline. And do you even know HOW to talk to the spirits? Would it not have been wise to ask Abaddina more about the logistics of that? (Come on!)
I really wish Team Issylra were going to get some of the same wacky, silly, fun Team Wildemount did, but it looks like that’s not in the cards for them. Which is sad because they definitely deserve to blow off some steam.
It’s going to be interesting to see how killing a priest and an angel (?) of Pelor is going to bite them in the ass eventually.
Related to that - Bor’Dor, I don’t know who the hell you are and your story gets more suspect as we learn about you, but if you are really just a random shepherd your life is never going to be the same again even if you do manage to get home. I hope you realize that although it looks like you don’t.
Two episodes in and Ashton, Laudna, and Orym have yet to use the name Bell’s Hells with anyone. Given how complicated and messy the political and religious situations are in this episode and probably going forward, that’s likely a good thing.
How to put this gently...Orym having to explain to Prism, Deni$e, and Bor’Dor about being a widower and how the circumstances of that relate to Ludinus is not the same as him having to repeatedly remind Imogen of that fact when she’s rehashing the “maybe the Ruby Vanguard are right” shtick. Imogen knew his backstory. The other three didn’t. You can’t expect these new characters to intuit out of the air why it’s always going to be hard for him to listen to pro-Ludinus arguments. He does actually have to explain that for them to understand why this is personal to him.
So many people struggling with having multiple conflicting things being true all at the same time. Pelor can be force for good who does not deserve to die and his priests and religious representatives can still commit acts that harm others and are based in greed and self-interest. Abaddina and her lot can be an oppressed community who want to free themselves of an invading force who is trying to strip their home of resources, prevent free and open discussion or expression of their culture, and eliminate their religion. They can also be opportunists who manipulate others into fighting their battles for them without thinking through the consequences for everyone involved. The party can fight against the representatives of a Prime Deity using the tools they have at hand, even if those tools are hell hounds and demons, without being evil or wanting to destroy the gods. And Ludinus...is still a rat bastard.
Anyone who watched EXU: Calamity has heard someone use Abaddina‘s argument about the Titans vs the Prime Deities before. The entity who used that argument then was Asmodeus. Now, I started out my CR fandom with Calamity and maybe that’s what makes me disinclined to support anyone who says something similar to the Lord of the Nine Hells. No matter how complex the situation, that’s always going to set off warning bells in my head.
This town is going to get shellacked. Maybe not any time soon, but eventually someone even worse than this imperialistic group of priests is going to come along and their situation is going to get so much worse.

I finished watching my rewatch of Never Have I Ever right in time for season 4 (the last season) of Sex Education, which I just finished watching a few hours ago.
Anyway, I'm just going to brain vomit a bunch of my thoughts, so if you disagree, please do so politely (because fandoms genuinely terrify me sometimes):
Maeve and Otis deserved the Ben and Devi treatment. No, I don't mean that they should have ended up together. Breaking up was the right thing for Otis and Maeve. And I really loved the way it was written, and Maeve's letter to Otis. But Ben and Devi's very special connection was emphasised throughout all four seasons, but I feel like they stopped doing that for Maeve and Otis somewhere along the way (though there were still some very nice scenes). But also, I have to say that in season 1, Maeve and Otis were the BEST (and I have never stopped shipping them simply because of how much I loved them back then). They were my favourite fictional ship ever, back then. I would have been obsessed with them, like I ended up being with Ben and Devi, if they'd stayed that way.
Paxton and Devi deserved the Ruby and Otis treatment. I'm just saying that because more pining is always fun for me. Of course, I wouldn't want Devi to treat Paxton like Otis treated Ruby in the last season, though. Also, I think Ruby was interesting enough that she deserved more space for her individual arc, like Paxton got.
The friendships on Sex Education are chef's kiss. None of the friendships on Never Have I Ever have ever made me feel as much. For me, Ben and Devi's dynamic outshone Devi, Eleanor, and Fabiola's dynamic. But the dynamic between Maeve and Otis eventually ended up being outshone by Maeve and Amy's friendship, in my opinion (and there were several other beautiful friendships portrayed on the show).
I think both shows do portray parent-child relationships quite well, but Nalini and Devi's relationship is my favourite.
I know a lot of people think Sex Education has too many characters, but I will say that I actually ended up interested in all of the characters. I don't think I am as interested in the side characters of Never Have I Ever.
Aimee reminds me a little of Trent, but I like her much better.
Ruby reminds me a little of both Ben and Devi (and Paxton, I suppose).
I wonder what types of conversations Ben and Maeve could have about how their parent-related abandonment issues have made them not feel good enough and have affected their relationships with other people in general, in a hypothetical crossover. It would also be interesting to see the contrast between Maeve's grief over thr death of a parent she both loved and hated, and Devi's grief over the death of a parent she practically worshipped.
Eric exploring his relationship with God as a gay man made me wonder how it would have been if they had done something similar with Aneesa.
Both shows are groundbreaking in different ways.

This is my personal opinion as an ONK reader and also interested in various story analyzes from fandom.
After reading your analysis and theory about Akane's character I'm getting more sadder. All this time she wanted to help and save Aqua so that the man she loved was free from the burdens of the past.
Even though Akane always said it wasn't Aqua's fault, Akane was always loyal and put Aqua's desire first. I think Akane's love is "romantic" not "platonic" for Aqua, Akane cries and gets angry in a "lovers" form.
Ruby and Kana always get "good" part of Aqua. It was like Aqua didn't want to hurt them but he hurt Akane— someone who was willing to stand up for him and was even ready to become a shield for him. For me this is an unfair portion. They see Kana as a "sad girl" because she is not dating Aqua and now Ruby sees Aqua as Goro. They think the "end game" must be Kana-Aqua, because it's Kana turn to try. Still.. it's not fair to me.
Akane had done a lot of things and she had taken Aqua for granted from the start without judging him. Now Kana and Ruby depend on Aqua, but I've never seen Akane have a place to rely on. She always stood her ground. Even now she still wanted to save Aqua. Because she knows and knows Aqua more than anyone (Even though Sarina and Goro already know each other, Ruby doesn't know anything about him same like Kana). Aqua only shows good and positive sides to Kana and Ruby but when he is with Akane he can be himself. It was like only Akane knew and could read Aqua's thoughts.
Akane forgives Aqua for using her, Akane understands Aqua who tries not to lie to her and their relationship, Akane becomes a back up for Aqua, even it can be said that Aqua is dependent on Akane. She deserves to be happy and get fair treatment. Even Akane tried to understand Aqua who she thought he had fallen for Kana. Because she knew that Aqua was still recovering from his past, she gives Aqua time, Akane knew that Aqua was trying.
Akane Kurokawa is the kindest and most mature girl in this series. I'm trying to find justice for her! I'm sorry I took out my feelings on you.
Instead of being jealous, Akane tried to understand Aqua and quell her jealousy. She always thinks positively of the people around her who have hurt her like Kana and Aqua. Instead of getting angry, disappointed and sad— Akane tried to understand them. So far we see that Akane always puts the people around her first and she cares little for herself. :'(
I feel you, anon! Akane deserves the world! 😭 One of my favorite Akane moments will always be the one you allude to at the end of your post. It can't be overstated enough how, after her idol literally blew up on her, she sought to understand her and got into psychology for that sole purpose. She was such a young kid yet she was already trying to understand people without judging them, which is the quality that eventually allows her to bypass Aqua's defences and earn his honesty.

To be fair, I don't think Aqua would've hurt Akane if he could've helped it. At the contrary, he tried to walk away from her because he didn't see himself as good for her, but when he gives himself (them) a chance, he does all he can to be someone she can depend on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He promises her he will protect her, and he does just that. Even if it means leaving her side and thus hurting her (and himself).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All we can do is hope that the manga will do Akane's character justice and that her ending (and the conclusion to her relationship with Aqua) will be satisfying!

I haaaaate hate hate hate how people said Hazel's redemption arc made sense and Emerald's didn't?
I'd argue Hazel's does still make sense ofc but it's sooooo telling to me how ppl love his and hates hers.
Esp bc, imo, hers makes MORE sense?? We saw hints of it from volume THREE come on
If you want a short example, here's a screenshot by somebody on Twitter who noticed an annoying trend.
Tumblr media
Here's the link if you're curious. https://twitter.com/spicybinch/status/1582743854477778944 Me personally?
I've noticed THIS particular issue.
Ruby Rose: Tries actively and super hard to always do the right thing and respect people’s choices.
RWBY Critics: OMG She’s so boring, come back when you have a personality.
Ruby Rose, Blake Belladonna, Robyn Hill: Makes human mistakes, proving both are complex character with flaws, capable of evolving.
EruptionFang, Vexed Viewer, their followers: OMG See? She’s not a saint, she was a horrible person all along, idk why people act like she’s a good person, she should burn in hell.
And then we have the straight white guys who are the villains in RWBY. Yes, I'm excluding Hazel for this one because Unlike Roman, Adam, and Ironwood? Hazel takes accountability for his actions, tries to make amends, and shows actual regret...so already we see that like Emerald, he is given more of a chance of redemption than the three.
Roman Torchwick and Adam Taurus : Does awful things willingly, consistently and without reason, and may make jokes about hurting people in general.
EruptionFang and The RWBY Rewrite folks: OMG he’s so funny and hot. I love bad boys/villains/bad people. They MUST be morally grey, cause they're so cool, they must have a tragic backstory justifying their actions.
James Ironwood: Has a pathetic excuse for his actions, blames it on other people, never takes accountability, and does a teeny tiny good thing (Think of it as nepotism) and throws outbursts when he doesn’t get his way.
Fandom on all 3 men: OMG, he is so sad, my poor baby, he deserves so much better, my heart is breaking for him. He is a complex character  with so many layers and he owns their horrible disgusting actions. But his actions are not his own fault. He has trauma. OMG so hot.
I mean they also scream character assassination when it comes to male antagonists, but let me ask you this.
You notice how these critics look at a robotic acting nanny for Penny Polendina by the name of Ciel Soleil, who only had 60 seconds of screentime, and whine about wasted potential?
Several things to keep in mind. 1, these people only call v1-3 "peak animation" because they put Monty on a pedestal, and because they were obsessed with yang's chest size. That's it.
2. These people are not used to women characters having more complexity than a male character. They were fed a diet of media that treated female characters badly in one way or another.
3. Last but not least. ANYTHING Miles and Kerry do, or ANYTHING a RWBY fan does, people will hold under a microscope. Yet insulting the show and the fandom gets people put on a pedestal.
The next time you see somebody get mad at female characters in RWBY getting some form of redemption? Check their comment or post history and see if maybe they have some weird issue towards women...or LGBT.
You ever noticed how these critics who claim to be fine with LGBT shipping or at least wlw shipping get so upset and uncomfortable at the mere thought of mlm shipping?

For the fandom ships ask; Merlin, and Once upon a time?
Oooh thank you!!
Merlin
OTP: This is not going to be the popular choice but honestly,,, Merlin/Morgana. I think they had such a facinating dynamic and I would have loved to see the writers follow through with it, especially in the later series. Doomed from the start and intrinsically linked, everyone telling him it's a bad idea for different reasons, everyone telling her she couldn't possibly be with him........ yeah, that's the good shit
Favourite canon pairing: Arthur and Gwen were SO cute and I'm happy for them (and their third, Merlin)
Worst pairing ever: Gwen/Lancelot, specifically when he got back because obviously. He wasn't him, she was spelled, and worst of all, there was never any resolution. Still haunted by the fact that everyone expect Merlin (including Gwen herself) really thinks she just. Cheated on Arthur. Heartbreaking
Guilty pleasure pairing: Morgana and Gwen <3 They're so cute and also the HEARTBREAK,,, when Morgana comes back and Gwen pretends to still be her friend and,,,,,,,,, THEM. The guilty part comes from the fact that I know a lot of this ship comes form the "get the women out of the way for mlm ship" mentality, but that's obviously not why I like it soooooo
A pairing you want to see more: Honestly both Morgana/Gwen and Merlin/Morgana. I know everyone loves Arthur/Merlin and they ARE fuckin valid and cute, but I really feel more people should multi-ship because Merlin has SUCH good dynamics with other people, and despite people *saying* they ship Morgana/Gwen there is a suspicious lack of content for them
That pairing everyone likes but you’re like “lol no”: Honestly I feel like I haven't spent enough time in the fandom for this?? I can't think of any, but that might just be because, again, I am a shameless multi-shipper and polyam enjoyer
Favourite non-romantic pair: Gwen and Merlin! I know they had a lil fling early on, but they became such a solid platonic duo and also I think it'd be really funny when they just casually mention that one time they kissed. Everyone would be scandalous (Arthur especially. "What do you mean you kissed Merlin before me??")
Once Upon a Time
OTP: Swanqueen!!!!! Obviously. They were in LOVE and I will DIE on this hill
Favourite canon pairing: Okay okay okay I know this is controversial BUT. For the reasons of "I enjoy fucked up people and their fucked up dynamics" ........Rumple/Evil Queen
Worst pairing ever: Robin/Regina. I liked that she was happy and that's about the only good thing I have to say about it like,,, come on. I just. Why
Guilty pleasure pairing: Okay okay hear me out. Captain Hook/Evil Queen. I just feel like, in the enchanted forest,,,,,,,, some shit happened. And I also think it makes their dynamic funnier when they meet again in Storybrook (see the non-romantic pair)
A pairing you want to see more: Ruby/Belle! Ruby was obviously fruity af and I always thought they'd be a cute couple but there is. not much support there lmao
That pairing everyone likes but you’re like “lol no”: Honestly? Belle/Rumple. She deserved better! Girlie was NOT down with the atrocities and they were wayyyy too much a part of him. Every time he tried to twist himself in knots to be a Good Person (especially when he was the Dark One?? Like, we saw with Emma, it was such a strong compulsion warping their minds, he very much tried to resist it but he also. Literally couldn't. The fuckin saviour couldn't like why are you blaming him) and failed, she'd get so mad and leave and then,,,, the writers would throw them back together again. Like lads. Let them go. Please
Favourite non-romantic pair: Regina/Killian. I think their interactions were SO fucking funny and she hated him so much. The bullying. The nicknames. Him sitting there like a wet cat. His best scenes were when he was alone with her and wish we'd lent into that instead of pushing his ~relationship~ with Emma
Send me a fandom and I'll answer these questions!

What are your thoughts on fanfic writers doing their own rewrites/AUs of RWBY? I've been working on my rewrite for almost two years, but I'm kind of afraid of trying to advertise my fanfic series bc the fandom goes fucking feral if anyone tries to say they want to rewrite it. I just want to explore things that the show never got to, like giving the faunus subplot the gravitas it deserves and that sort of thing. But the fans make me really hesitant to share my work!
Hey anon! First off I’m so sorry you feel hesitant to do so, I unfortunately get it completely though. Fans are…..different within RW//BY and have made it very clear their stance on aus and rewrites and anything that even remotely implies you want to explore something different. To me I’ve always found this mindset odd and confusing and unlike any fandom I’ve been in before. I find rewrites and aus to be so much fun personally, as you said it lets you explore things not in the show or change things to explore different scenarios the show couldn’t explore and so on.
For example my favorite type of au ironically enough are modern aus. I don’t know why I just find them so much fun. It has nothing to do with what I think of the show, I just enjoy exploring placing characters from fantasy worlds and plopping them into a modern society and see what happens. To me I find writing and reading my those kinds of fics enjoyable. It’s not most people’s cup of tea but my fics are for me at the end of the day and your fics that you wrote are for you. I for one would love to see your work but I understand if you’re too nervous to share.
For me fics are a love letter to the source material, it shows you care enough about the world and characters to want to explore something new or expand upon something the show didn’t or couldn’t. For me I’m working on a massive au asking what would happen if Yang and Ruby where raised by Qrow and Ironwood? How would things change for the characters? And I think those what ifs spawn some of the best ideas like what if Adam left the white fang? Or what if Pyrrha lived and Jaune died? What if Summer didn’t die? Those what ifs are fun scenarios we would never see in the show and that’s okay but it’s also fun to explore the possibilities, hell even Disney sees the fun in exploring those concepts in its “What If…” Marvel series wherein it explores some of those types of things like What if Peggy was the Winter Soldier instead?
Aus and rewrites are fantastic and I do not understand why anyone would hate on them or think it’s someone saying the source material is bad or the person hates the source material. We wouldn’t spend time doing this if on some level we didn’t care about the material, I have too many fandoms I’m in to waste time on something I don’t have some fond memories of. Yes I don’t like a lot of the writing decisions but…I still love the RWBY we met in volume 1 and want to explore their world. And anyone who feels the same or similar isn’t a bad person.
If you think it would make you more comfortable, overall the RWDE tag is pretty chill and maybe you can start with just sharing your fic their? I still get it if you aren’t comfortable that’s just what I do personally lolZ.

Hii, what is your analysis of Tommy and Lizzie's relationship in S6? Many Lizzie fans say that he forgot about Grace and fell in love with Lizzie, I saw the opposite.
Hey nonnnie!!!
Season 6 tells you everything you need to know about tommy’s love life, and by everything , l mean EVERYTHIIIIIIIING!!!!
Ok, here’s my opinion below:
1. I want to start by pointed out the fact that, that season 6 has once and for all finally put to the rest the debate on whether or not tommy was in love with lizzie. The fandom has been saying for years that tommy was never in love with grace, but the idea of grace. And that the woman he loved, the one he’s been in love with  since the beginning of peaky blinders was lizzie_The fandom claims that he only treated her the way he did, because he loved her and was afraid of his feelings for her ,and that’s also the reason he wouldn’t let her in( And by treated her the way he did, l mean disrespecting her on a regular basis, repeatedly cheating on her as if he was deprived sexually, always putting her last, treating her like a disposable partner or an object he owns )....
News-fucking-flash
this was never a debate ( nor  facts, just wishful thinking ) and tommy was never and is not in love with lizzie. Grace was tommy’ love and his chance for happiness, and when she died that chance died with her .
2. This whole season was a reminder, a confirmation and a sum up of everything we already knew about tommy’ and lizzie’ dynamic. A reminder of Lizzie’ unrealistic expectations in her marriage, a further confirmation of tommy’ inability to be a faithful husband to lizzie and give her the love, attention and respect she desperately wanted from him...basically it was a season 5  sum up with different or subtle nuances and contexts.
3. This season to me is a clear affirmation that tommy was never in love with lizzie, and that he can never give her what she’s always wanted and expected from him which is his love and undivided attention. He was never home, never there for her when she needed him, he didn’t support her emotionally when she needed him most( after ruby’s death), and was constantly cheating on her. He cheated on her several times in season 5, we saw him cheating on her this season with a brunette when he was in Boston, and we also saw him cheating on her with mosley’ fiancé,  diana... That man cheated on her throughout their marriage. And why’s that ?!
Because that’s not the woman he really wanted to be with... his heart  didn’t choose her!!!
Because he settled for lizzie, he sought replacements for the emotional connection he didn’t have with her. Mistresses (cheating on her), work, and  his favorite thing was spending his time away( trips) ,since he stopped drinking and doing opium...He became addicted to anything that filled the gap within him. And that’s why he couldn’t stop cheating on lizzie, working...Lizzie understandably felt lonely and unhappy in her 7/8 years marriage with tommy, and how could she not ? When she was the only one emotionally invested in their relationship .
4. Tommy realized that lizzie didn’t deserve the pain he put her through and learned to respect her. That’s why he was nicer and more respectful of her this season than he was in the previous seasons, and why he tried to honor his marriage to some extent. Because she’s familly and he cares about her, he tried to give her more attention ( but still kept it superficial ), e.g. when lizzie wrapped both of her hands around tommy’s to remind him that she was there and needed his attention too. Lizzie “Do you feel that, do you feel anything? You know you talk, as if you’re watching everything on a screen.” tommy “When we go home...when we go home, we’ll give the kids to frances , and then you and me will go to bed”  lizzie   “and I”ll be the next item, everything is on the list”. In that scene lizzie was again, trying to connect with a physically present but mentally absent tommy.
There are some things tommy did and said to lizzie because he believed that’s what he was supposed to do and say as her husband, and not because he wanted to do or say those things, that’s why lizzie called him out on ticking boxes, and why I believe he said the line “in this moment, in this room, I love you” line. And also , why lizzie herself didn’t believe that “love confession”.
5. How can you fall in love with someone you’re unwilling to let in? Tommy’s subconcious and whole being categorically refused and still refuse to let lizzie in, several years after he said he’ll let her in sometimes. Lizzie in season 5  “and you let me in sometimes” tommy  “ I’ll let you in sometimes”,  season 6, four years later “you never let me in”. In 6X04 , we have tommy once again avoiding emotional connection and keeping lizzie at safe distance when he removed lizzie’s hand from his shoulder,  “not yet, not yet..”
( and this is a woman he’s known for 16 years...16 years during which they had an off and on “relationship”...16 years and he still wouldn’t let her in...not yet, not yet!!!) .
All she wanted was to feel close to him and all he wanted was to be left alone...and this was after their daughter’ death. That man is unwilling to emotionally bond with her, and you can’t be in love with a person you can’t emotionally connect with. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE!!!!
As I already said, tommy cared about lizzie, He loved her but wasn’t in love with her. He loved her the way he loved his family members.
To put it in a nutshell ,
it was a family love and not a romantic love.
I’m not sure that there has been any point in the show where we’re meant to believe that tommy  was falling for lizzie…Ok, let me rephrase it ...
there hasn’t been any point in the show where we’re meant to believe that tommy was falling or fell for lizzie.
We lived long enough( and by long enough I mean 6 seasons, 14 years) in tommy' and lizzie's dynamic to know that he was never in love with her and that, the supposed "love confession" was a lie, because it didn’t match tommy’s actions and behavior. And lizzie knew it too .  She’s known that man for 16 years, So she knows when he’s lying . That’s why she called him out on it "you sound like you’re ticking a fucking  box, and I don’t konw what’s inside the box . Never have you let me in. Even though I know the combination to the safe”.
SHE KNEW HE DIDN'T MEAN IT.
NONNIE THE SHOW IS OoooOOOVER!!
And it ended with 1.lizzie finally realizing that tommy wasn’t in love with her and that he will never love her like she loves him, 2. her walking away and recognizing that she deserved more than what he could offer.
IT IS CANON THAT TOMMY COULDN'T BE THE HUSBAND SHE DREAMED OF BECAUSE OF HIS EMOTIONAL UNAVAILABILITY.( everything that will happen in the movie is a bonus ).

Its years late for this nitpick and honestly the answer is probably just time constraints, but why didn't Ruby gather more attention when she was let in early to Beacon. Maybe not immediately but I imagine somebody would probably let it leak that a girl got in 2 years early to a prestigious combat school, there would probably be some journalists interested in getting that story. It would make Ruby's line about "normal knees" make sense too.
Yeah, even if the story didn't want to introduce a lot of outside conflict (via things like journalist), I would have loved to see this impacting Ruby's relationships more. We've got Weiss commenting that she looks too young to be at Beacon and... that's it. That's the extent of Ruby's age -- something that's initially presented as a Big Deal - having an influence on her time at school. Why not have Weiss specifically take issue with her as a leader because she's too young, rather than just the fact that it's not her getting what she 'deserves'? Why not have Pyrrha feel a kinship with Ruby, bonding over the fact that they've both been singled out as extraordinarily talented fighters at a young age? (Which would also go a long way towards creating an emotional impact when Ruby sees Pyrrha die. It's horrible for the audience, certainly, but fans have long pointed out that Ruby and Pyrrha barely knew one another.) Give me Jaune comparing Ruby to his little sisters, Blake shrugging at her age because outside the kingdoms no one cares how old you are, only that you can fight, a version of Yang who loves her sister, undoubtedly, but was also looking forward to striking out on her own and forming new friendships without a little sis tagging along (she does ditch Ruby for the shadow friends first chance she gets), more teachers like Glynda who are hesitant to bend the rules in such a manner, upper classmen who are jealous that this kid is landing assignments even they're not ready for, a Tai who lost his wife to grimm and is now seeing both his girls enter that profession at the same time, one of whom is still just a kid, and dear god he's not emotionally ready for an empty nest when what's outside the nest is so very, very dangerous.
It is a nitpick in the sense that we got a solid plot for Volumes 1-3 and the lack of all this (and similar ideas) certainly doesn't ruin the story, but it does reflect on how haphazardly RWBY has always been written. It's nothing new to say that RT didn't really know what they were doing with RWBY for a long time, resulting in a huge number of missed opportunities -- that first draft feel that's still influencing the story today. Often when we have broader criticisms, like Ruby's lack of character development post-Volume 4 (at least, that's when I personally think she stagnated), you can trace the problem back to traits that were introduced and then dropped. Ruby is a "most dangerous weapon ever designed" prodigy with a wealth of weapon knowledge and an ancient Silver Eyes power, getting into a prestigious school two years early after her mother mysteriously died in the same profession, but she lacks her mother's (implied) confidence and charisma, instead demonstrating a marked social awkwardness that, again, reflects back on her age. What a fascinating character packed with potential! Too bad Ruby's age was only a concern for the first few episodes, her love of weapons has disappeared, her social awkwardness was never an obstacle to making friends, her eyes were mastered in half a Volume, and her mother's death is mentioned once seven years into the series -- without her sister there to benefit from that emotional beat. It's nothing new to say, but it always bears repeating: RWBY is really good at introducing awesome concepts and really bad at doing anything satisfying with them. It's why the show thrives in fandom where others can play with those ideas and is struggling so badly in the canon itself. It functions best as a sandbox, not a show.

Taxes, Taxes, Taxes-Chapter 4
Fandom: Supergirl
Characters: Kara Danvers, Clark Kent, Samantha Arias, Lena Luthor, Lillian Luthor
Summary: What if superheroes had to pay a property damage tax every time they had a fight in the city?
Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3
Lena sat at a table outside of her favorite restaurant Eduardo’s. She was currently looking through the menu with one hand while the other hand was tapping quickly against the table.
She thought about her conversation with Supergirl a couple of hours ago, and it made her cringe.
I hate being beholden to someone like her. Who does she think she is anyway?
Lena sighed and shook her head. Normally when people think they had the upper hand on her she would pull out a wild card and lord her brilliance over them. However, Supergirl was the first person in a long time to point out her shortcomings which she loathed. Lena has always prided herself on being self-sufficient, and it irked her that she had to resort to gimmicks like superheroes in order to get people to see the merit of her hospital.
At least it is not that asshole. I can’t believe that goddess could be associated with a scum like him.
Lena immediately blushed at the thought.
Sure, Supergirl is attractive. Especially her muscular legs and arms. I wonder if she has a six-pack.
Lena quickly shook her head and sighed.
“I need to get out more,” she muttered.
I need to get back to the matter at hand. I refuse to let her think she won. I have one more trick up my sleeve if I could just play it just right.
She was lost in thought until she heard someone clear their throat.
Lena rolled her eyes, and said “It took you long enough to come back to take my order.”
She looked up and froze. Sam was standing next to her with a smirk on her face.
“Already having second thoughts I see.”
“How did you know I was here?” Lena croaked.
Sam nonchalantly pulled up a chair next to Lena, sat down, and took the menu out of her hand.
While perusing the menu, she said, “You and I have been best friends since high school. I think I know your more self-destructive habits by now.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” Lena scoffed.
“When something seems too good to be true, you run in the opposite direction into something that is worse than the original option.”
Lena tried to grab the menu back from the clever brunette, but she was way too quick. Lena sat back and sulk.
“You still didn’t answer how you found me?”
“You’re lovely assistant Jess told me that you were meeting with mommy dearest today.”
“Traitor,” mumbled Lena.
Sam chuckled and said, “The saint deserves a raise.”
Lena turned away and muttered, “I don’t know why you both care that I went to see my mother anyway.”
“Because neither of us are blind. We know you are here to ask her to fund the hospital, and we will both quit if you go through with this.”
Lena narrowed her eyes and said, “You’re both bluffing.”
Sam took out her purse and produced two letters to hand to Lena. Her face went pale as she realized that they were resignation letters.
“I thought both of you liked my mother,” said Lena mystified.
Sam sighed and said, “Your mother is a lovely person when it comes to personal things like friendship and family. I will always be grateful to her for being an amazing support system to Ruby and me when my mom kicked me out of the house at an early age. However, your mom as a businesswoman is…..less than desirable.”
Lena sighed and said, “I know you believe that my mother’s methods are unsavory…"
“That is an understatement. Lillian got where she is today by fear and intimidation. It works with her company, but it doesn’t foster a lot of trust between her and her employees.”
“I know which is why I wasn’t going to ask her for the money.”
“You weren’t?” asked Sam, narrowing her eyes.
“No, I was just going to tell her about our recent dealings with Supergirl is all.”
Sam stared at her for a moment and started chuckling.
“What’s so funny?” asked Lena, frowning.
“You think that your mom is going to give you the money to make you stay away from Supergirl.”
“Well, it is not like anyone in the family likes Superman anyway.”
“You do realize that Supergirl is her own person, right?”
Lena rolled her eyes and said, “That is what she keeps on saying.”
Sam shook her head and stared back up at Lena.
“Okay. Let’s say this plan of yours works. Do you really think your mom will just give you the money and not want anything in return?”
Lena looked down and started playing with the tablecloth.
“I do expect her to want to make some changes.”
“And what if we don’t agree with those changes? It would be really awkward to tell her no with us owing her billions of dollars.”
“It’s not like she would lord it over us.”
“I don’t think that she would do that, but I do believe the overall objective of the hospital will change if you go through with this.”
Lena frowned and said, “She knows how important it is for me to provide healthcare for children who couldn’t access it. She wouldn’t be so cruel as to cut that part out of the hospital.”
“I don’t think she would do it automatically. I think she would allow us to treat the current patients here because we made a commitment to them. However, she wouldn’t let anyone else enter the program.”
“You think she would phase it out like that?”
“I do. The thing is she would have some justification on her side. We are bleeding cash right now. If we had a proof of concept that something like this could be sustainable, it would be one thing, but…”
“Proving it to her would take more time than we have…” muttered Lena as she leaned back into her chair and sighed.
This hospital was something that Lena wanted to survive. She wanted to prove that a Luthor could do something to give back to the community instead of causing it’s destruction. She looked back at Sam forlorn.
“Supergirl is the only option.”
Lena hated that conclusion being forced on her, but she realized she couldn’t go through causing the integrity of the hospital to change.
Sam looked at her cheerfully and said, “Glad that you have come to acceptance on everything. Now, we need to figure out how to make Supercorp a thing.”
“What is a Supercorp?”
Lena and Sam both shrieked. They looked up and Lillian was standing across the table from them.
As she sat down she said, “I didn’t mean to scare you girls. What are you talking about that has you so captivated that you are not noticing your surroundings?”
Lena felt like her mind was short-circuiting. She knew her original thought was to tell her mother everything, but now she wasn’t so sure anymore.
Lena quickly composed herself and said, “Nothing of importance. We were just hammering out a minor business issue.”
Lillian cocked her head for a moment with her eyes closed.
“Super…Super…Super…Wait, did you guys finally find a superhero to help with the hospital?” asked Lillian.
Lena and Sam gave each other bewildered looks.
I have to give it to my mother. She is always sharp.
Lena gave her a forced smile and said, “Actually, we have. However, it is at the beginning stages. No need to bore you with the details.”
Lillian chuckled and said, “Nonsense, I would love to hear all about it.”
“I think you would love this particular hero. They are new on the scene but we do believe that our partnership will do wonders with the hospital,” said Sam.
“Don’t oversell it,” muttered Lena while sulking.
Lillian looked at her daughter's expression and mannerisms and frowned. She sat back in her seat and sighed.
“What is wrong with this person?” asked Lillian.
“Lillian, what makes you think there is something wrong?” asked Sam.
“My daughter over there is a nervous wreck.”
“Hey!”
“What? It is true. You have one hand quickly tapping on the table and the other one keeps twisting at the tablecloth. Is this superhero you got mediocre? As long it isn’t that moron Booster Gold, it shouldn’t do anything to tarnish the hospital.”
Lena sighed and looked away.
Lillian moved her chair closer to Lena and wrapped her arm around her shoulders.
“My dear, it will be okay. We could always give that Booster idiot some etiquette lessons and media training. We can make it work.”
“It isn’t him,” Lena muttered.
“Then, who is it?”
Lena hesitated for a couple of moments, turned to her mother, and said softly, “Supergirl.”
Lena quickly looked away and awaited to be berated, but nothing came. She looked up and was startled to see that her mom had a faraway look about her.
“Is everything okay Mom?”
Lillian looked back at her puzzled, but then quickly changed back to a warm smile.
“Everything’s fine dear.”
Lena stared at her startled and said, “Really? You don’t think this is a terrible idea?”
“Why would I?”
“Given Lex’s issues with Superman, I just thought that you would….”
“Support his obsession with him. You need to give me a little more credit than that.”
“Then, why don’t you say anything about his antics?”
“What makes you think I don’t? He just ignores me like everyone else who doesn’t agree with him.”
“But you still fund his endeavors. It is one of the reasons why he doesn’t harass you.”
Lillian shook her head and chuckled.
“What?”
“You know what your brother’s version of love is. Do you think that I am a willing participant in some of the things he does?”
Lena stared at her startled.
“Has he threatened you?”
Lillian grabbed Lena and Sam’s hands and said, “Lex tends to exploit weaknesses and knows that I would do anything to protect you girls and Ruby. The only silver lining is that he has only wanted money so far.”
“Why didn’t you tell us sooner?” asked Lena
“Yeah, we could have come up with something to help,” said Sam.
Lillian shook her head and said, “This is something for me to worry about. Besides, I would rather talk about the plans that you have for Miss Supergirl.”
Lena and Sam shared a knowing look. She knew that she couldn’t push the issue anymore with her mother, but that wouldn’t stop Sam and her from figuring out ways to help her later. She shook her head. She was baffled at Lex’s antics. Lex had always tortured her because she was illegitimate. However, she thought that he would never mess with Lillian. He always seemed such a mama’s boy.
One day I will put that psychotic asshole in his place.
Lena shook her head out of her thoughts as she heard part of what Sam was telling her mom.
“Well, Supergirl says that she will provide promotional videos and photos for the hospital and participate in fundraising events,” said Sam.
“That sounds very generous,” said Lillian
“It is not like she is doing it out of the goodness of her heart. She needs to work back the damage she has done for the government, and she believes this will help disassociate her image from Superman,” muttered Lena.
“You make it sound like a bad thing,” said Lillian.
“It isn’t genuine.”
“Not all things in business are. When an opportunity arises, you don’t hesitate or scoff at it. You quickly embrace it.”
“So you think I should just not worry about her motives?” asked Lena sarcastically.
“I didn’t say all that. Take the opportunity, but you should go in with your eyes wide open. You never want to allow anyone to get the upper hand.”
Lena shook her head and went back to looking at her menu.
Lillian chuckled, turned to Sam, and said, “I am sorry that I was late to Ruby’s recital last night. By chance, do you have any pictures?”
“Sure, let me send them to you.”
As Sam looked for her phone, Lillian looked down at her own with a frown. She quickly typed out a message and clicked send: We need to talk. We have a situation brewing.

Rules: Go to your published works on Ao3 and list the first fic you ever published there, the last fic you published, any fic that you wrote for a fandom/ship only once, your favorite fic you wrote in the fandom/ship that has the most works, the fic you wish more people read, the fic you agonized over the most, the fic that sprang fully formed from your mind without any effort, and a work you are proud of- for whatever reason.
I was tagged by @spartanguard and @wistfulcynic. Thank you so much ladies!!!!
First fic: True Love Song After being a member of fandom for nearly three years, and spending all that time swearing I'd never write, it took a lot of hand holding, encouragement, and cajoling from hollyethecurious and winterbaby89 to get me to actually post this thing...
Last fic: Into the Light my entry for this years CSSNS, inspired by the 1987 movie The Lost Boys, starring Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Patric, Dianne Wiest, and Edward Herrmann.
Only Once: All my fics are for Once, but I do have a few fics for other ships besides CS... A Family Affair series features the love stories of triplet sisters Emma, Regina, and Ruby, and their older brother David. Love Between the Pages is CS's story. Killian is a bestselling author that is writing a book on Emma's late husband Neal Cassidy, NASCAR darling killed on the track. He didn't plan on falling in love with her. Dance With the Gypsy is Ruby and Graham's story. She falls in love with Graham Humbert, the producer of her new Broadway show, Secrets. Clipping an Angel's Wings is Regina and Robin's story. Hollywood star Regina hires Robin to find and keep her safe from a stalker. And finally, David and Mary Margaret's story is told in A Spy Finds a Home. Dr. Mary Margaret Blanchard hires international spy David Nolan to find and save her parents who've been kidnapped by a terrorist organization.
Favorite fic for the fandom I've written in most: That is TOUGH... UGH!!!! That is REALLY tough!!!!!! Ok, you know what? I answered an ask from @kazoosandfannypacks a couple of weeks ago of my five favorite fics, and I couldn't even limit it to just five. So if you're really interested, you can find that ask and answer here. But I really couldn't pick just one between any of them, sorry, not sorry...
The fic I wish more people read: Is it fair to say all of them? 🤷🏻‍♀️ But that said, it's always thrilling whenever I get a notification that any of my fics gets a new like, kudos, or comment.
The fic I agonized over the most: Two fics immediately come to mind... Choices and Of Darkness, Vampires, and Soulmates. Choices because first, it was for wistfulcynic, and second, I had a very specific plan for how I wanted the fic to go. I wanted to include all the underrated CS canon Neverland moments that I adored, but also smut. And including all those canon moments in the fic meant that there was NO WAY in my mind that canon Emma would have approached Killian in that way. So it took me about a month to figure out how to keep all those canon moments and make the ending of the fic true to who they both were at that time in the show. ODVS I agonized over because it was the first fic I'd ever written that came completely out of my own head, from start to finish, no inspiration at all, and I had NO IDEA how hard it was to translate my vision onto the page. PLUS the fact that I had to actually connect the different time periods. And finally the level of historical detail I ended up including was just... 😳 oof... So yeah, I agonized over ODVS the most. It took me a full seven months of active writing and hollyethecurious and wistfulcynic about deserve co-writer status for everything they did to help me finish it.
The fic that sprang fully formed from my mind without any effort: Oh, that's easy! The Moon... Tells the Sea. @allons-y-to-hogwarts-713 shared a moodboard with me that she was working on for CSSNS20, and the full plot for a fic to go with it just poured out of me. She was almost as excited as I was for the fic, so I started writing. It ended up being a decent length one shot, but I think I had the whole thing written in 2-3weeks? Somewhere in there. Anyway, that was a fun one.
A fic that I'm proud of, for whatever reason: This one is pretty easy, too. Although the answer is kinda long... For someone who swore for years that she'd never write, the fact that I've published 39 fics in 4 1/2yrs makes me pretty proud. But that said, I'm probably most proud of the Family Affair series, linked above. I'm proud of it for a couple of reasons. First, that I was actually brave enough to really write it. The idea for the series came to me before I wrote my first MC, but given the fact that it was 4 different love stories, that would necessitate 4 different couples, plus the fact that we're a CS fandom and who from the CS fandom would be interested in reading a Red Hunter, OQ, or Snowing fic, the whole idea was pushed to the back of my mind for TWO YEARS before I actually started writing it. And the response BLEW ME AWAY!!! I'm eternally grateful for that! That's the first reason I'm proud. The second reason is that I remained true to my original vision of the interconnected stories of four siblings. I had several folks tell me over the course of the year I spent writing these fics that they'd love to see the stories as CS fics instead of the other siblings- particularly the OQ and Snowing fics. And as a reader, I completely get it. The plots of both of them would have been SO GOOD as CS fics, and I KNOW that I would have DEVOURED them both as such. But as the writer, I wanted the interconnected stories because of how much I loved the source material and the interwoven plot of the estrangement between the oldest and their father that I also wanted to tell. And again, I was stunned at the response I received for the other stories. The entire series is high up on my personal favorites list. In fact, I adore this universe so much, that I've written a Christmas fic set a year after David returns home and Regina and Robin were married that will be dropping on Christmas Day.
Thank you again for the tags, Kait and Saira!!! 😘
Now my turn to tag! @hollyethecurious @snowbellewells @winterbaby89 @whimsicallyenchantedrose @jrob64 @cs-rylie

This blog's main blorbos:
Kim Wexler: She needs a sequel!!!
Jimmy McGill: He's just Ken.
William Delos: "I can fix him" becomes very literal.
Dolores Abernathy: 10/10 girlboss. Got to see her revolution through to the end. Morally gray in a way that didn't feel like centrism pulling its punches. No notes. Please teach Kim how to shoot a gun.
Love Quinn: She deserved so much better. A single episode of hearing her unhinged internal monologue was insufficient. I wish she had killed Joe and been the POV for Season 4. Kim's frenemy.
Rose Quartz: A crusader who puts all her friends and family on the line for the "greater good"? If you haven't noticed the theme yet, this is very much a "support women's wrongs" kind of blog.
Ruby+Sapphire/Garnet: She should be Jimmy and Kim's marriage counselor. She should be EVERY ship's marriage counselor!
Elphaba Thropp: Same appeal as Rose Quartz. But she also beat a white supremacist to death with a broom once. That gets her extra points.
Pearl X: Not a star. But a solid addition to the chorus.
Peter (Leigh) Graham: Where do we go from here? The little free will he had has been crushed by a family legacy, and he's the only one left to carry on. These creeps think he's a god; he's just the same scared teenage boy he's always been.
Wheatley: Doesn't really fit in with my current fandoms. But I still love him.
Audrey II: Did I mention I love Faustian bargains?
The Angel of Crockett Island: Did I mention I love Faustian bargains?
Hippolyta Freeman: Actual best-written female character on tv in the past 10 years. Seriously, I love Kim but calling her "best character" is antifeminist, when we have characters like Hippolyta who are getting overlooked.
Letitia Lewis: She's flighty. She doesn't get along with her sister. She likes scifi and mystery. She doesn't resist the call to adventure. She gets knocked up by her sweetheart as the result of magical shenanigans. And by the end, she's one of the few remaining characters who knows how to cast spells. If I was a character in "Lovecraft Country", I'd like to think I'd be Letti. Just please... anyone but Christina!
Adelaide Thomas: I still don't feel like I fully understand this character. But her story speaks to me on a profound level.
Clara Saburova: Has a lot of Elphaba's same "benevolent misanthrope" witchy energy. Not only can she break the fourth wall; I'm pretty sure she knows how to use console commands. Send her off to America to study THE LAW.
Nadia Vulvokov: Misc. failwoman archetype
Oksana Astankova: Misc. failwoman archetype
Judy Gemstone: Misc. failwoman archetype
Sally Reed: Speedrunning these "blonde crime-drama love-interest" tropes.
Dee Reynolds: Misc. failwoman archetype
Turanga Leela: Ponytail? Check! Exposed biceps? Check! Schlub she does care about but she's mostly just keeping around for sex? Check! Confidence exceeding competence? Check! Back and ready for more punching stuff, Ma'am!
Carmella Soprano: Supra.
Skyler White: Res Ipsa.
Daenerys Targaryen: ⚠⚠ Construction Site! Do Not Enter! ⚠⚠ We are still waiting on the autopsy reports. But man, she left a CRATER when she fell off.
Bella Swan: Basically the drip-pan for everything above her.

🤩 , 💖 , 🥳, 😍, and 💪 please :]] love you!
🤩 What's your favorite fic you posted this year?
Summer Kisses!
💖 Was there a comment or another piece of feedback that made you feel all the warm and fuzzies?
I answered twice that all comments because they just matter so much. But I feel like I should mention at least some of the moments of feedback that made me feel a deeper sense of appreciation and gratitude beyond the initial rush of warm fuzzies
Ibarbourou @la-cruz-del-sur reading through money shot and writing long, insightful reviews chapter by chapter. In addition, continuing to do so with Summer Kisses, and always being there to have in-depth conversations about writing, sex, life, fandom, porn, politics, rpf ethics... what's remarkable is that she doesn't even watch hockey, she's a phenomenal Argentine football rpf writer who concentrates on South American football culture(s). Going out of her way to analyze my stuff is a huge token of friendship.
@unmetroeduntappo has read all my new works for years and has so many times been the first to comment. A regular sight in my inbox to ask about fic, this kind of loyal continuous support is more than anyone can deserve. I can't even question her taste in case i wanted to fall down a spiral of self-doubt. Being a Kalle Rovanperä fan is a sign of impeccable taste. (Also, go read J! (jump (caution!) for a warm fuzzy mix of rally and my hockey otp)
You 👉👆👈 giving so much love to my burky/evil!bedsy nastiness on windsor knot and linking it on your phenomenally hot crack your knuckles in my mouth! Thank you for the traffic 🥰
🥳 What writing accomplishment made you most proud?
That @aleksrothis liked ingénue! It's so nice to manage to write a gift that pleases the recipient.
😍 What's one of your favorite lines or exchanges you wrote this year?
I liked the amount of ensemble feels and plot that I wrote as a lead-up to the kinky winner's room dubcon in Ruby Room (dirty floors and sticky tables), mostly as dialogue. This one is with Justin Williams.
Justin Williams looks fondly over the table, watching Sebastian digging into his food like he had been starving for days.
“Gotta say, I miss the playoffs,” Justin says.
Sebastian glances up from his plate and shoots him a feisty eyeful, tilting one corner of his lips to a lopsided smirk.
“Do you mean that you want me to say that I miss you in the playoffs? Well, I do. I miss you in the playoffs.”
“The A on your sweater looked very fine.”
“Are you trying to get me to say that the C on yours always looked even better?”
Justin chuckles.
“Man you’re snarky today, Sebastian. Is something wrong?”
💪What ship gave you the most brainrot this year?
Define brainrot?? If writing a lot of fic for a ship gives you brainrot it would be pekka/juuse BUT they've written themselves pretty neatly and left my head clean without extending their rent-free stay.
Maybe it's the ships that I turn around and around in my head as vibes and disjointed images, ideas and fractions of scenes, watching them from every angle but never trying to pin them down as words? Talk about sepe and his Daddy Dom candidates. Rod. (Aight I've written them a lot but there could have been more). Jordo. Nnhhhgh Brent Burns 🔥 And any +combination of those. I keep hurting myself and yes, rotting my brain. (Want examples? I've got examples just ask)
--
Thank you for the ask and the opportunity to end up degrading everyone's dash when I end up rambling filth. I love you 😘
