Right.
This thing's not gonna roast itself...
This is for a Middle Kingdoms recipe (but this approach is also long established on our version of Earth). Pumpkin or butternut squash slices are tossed in olive oil, laid out in the pans and sprinkled with chili flakes and a little salt. Whole peeled garlic cloves get inserted here and there; the whole business then sprinkled with oregano (though in the Kingdoms they'd be more likely to go for sage or thyme). A few thyme sprigs are scattered here and there. Then everything goes into the oven and gets roasted at 200° C / 400° F for about 40 minutes.
Some people like to add small chunks of feta or similar sheep's milk cheese to this. I usually give that a pass, both because I'm not a big feta fan and because I like not to have to take a lactase pill sometimes...
So now the result:
...And now for dinner. :) (In the background, @petermorwood is making small new-ish potatoes roasted in duck fat. "Well, the oven's hot, why waste the energy...?")
Meanwhile, the other half of the pumpkin remains to be dealt with. Tomorrow, a regional/seasonal Steldene delicacy: pumpkin tarts with hard Teinakh cheese and spiced pumpkin-flour pastry. They're gonna look so weird—pumpkin flour tends to turn things dark, if not positively green—but the flavor...! :)

Roasted Sage and Pumpkin Soup
This fragrant Roasted Sage and Pumpkin Soup is deliciously warming on a frosty day. And if, like here, it is also a sunny day with cloudless blue skies, you can pour this beautiful soup in a flask, go on a nature walk and warm up with it in the woods or in a meadow! Happy Thursday!
Ingredients (serves 4):
¼ pumpkin, thoroughly scrubbed
1 onion
1 teaspoon coarse sea salt
½ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
half a dozen leaves fresh sage (+ more for garnish)
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 Chicken Stock Cubes
6 cups water
2 tablespoons demerara sugar
Preheat oven to 200°C/395°F.
Cut pumpkin into large pieces, and place into a large baking dish. Peel and quarter onion, and place in the middle of the dish as well. Finely chop sage leaves, and scatter on top pf the pumpkin. Sprinkle with coarse sea salt and black pepper. Drizzle generously with olive oil. Toss with clean hands, to coat the pumpkin pieces in herb and oil.
Place in the middle of the hot oven, and roast, at 200°C/395°F, 1 hour.
In a large saucepan, combine Chicken Stock Cubes and water, and warm over a low flame, until cubes have melted. Keep Chicken Stock warm.
Remove baking dish from the oven and wait about 5 minutes. Combine roasted sage and pumpkin and onion and warm Chicken Stock in a blender, in batches if necessary, and blitz until smooth.
Return to the pot and heat over medium heat. Stir in demerara sugar until dissolved.
Serve Roasted Sage and Pumpkin Soup hot, topped with a dollop of crème fraîche, and a few fresh sage leaves.

Story - summarized
While decorating for Halloween, Momo and Nikki receive a package from Loen. Inside is a pumpkin mask, just the right size for Momo. He tries it on - it���s too snug.
Nikki helps tug it off of him. He glares at the “culprit,” but then gets a cute idea and makes it a bag. He has been watching Nikki designing lots of things lately. She compliments him on a wonderful first design.
Momo gets an idea: besides being famous for his love of barbecue, he wants to be famous for designing. He goes to the art store for supplies... he has no idea what to do. Nikki tells him that inspiration will come eventually.
She surprises him by making roasted pumpkin with barbecue that night. In return, Momo decides to make his very first design a Halloween costume for Nikki.
It’s a lot harder than Momo thought it would be. He talks to Loen, goes to the library, reads books, but still can’t find any good ideas for a cute witch costume for Nikki. His last resort is a video game about a witch.... which is a lot scarier than he thought.
Thankfully, Nikki gives him a few ideas to get started. Momo tries out one piece, makes a few changes, then moves on to the next. Soon, he has a cute pumpkin-and-cat witch dress for Nikki.
On Halloween, he gives it to her as a gift. He gets a mysterious black cloak, and the two of them have fun taking pictures. Momo becomes a famous designer as he dreamed.
Connections
-Ever since Chapter 1-6, Momo and Loen have had an... unusual friendship. Loen pokes fun at Momo, and he retorts in kind.
-In Love Nikki, Momo would give styling advice for battles. He still fancies himself a styling genius, but he finally gets to design in this game.
-In the Index, Momo says that he gave the Exploring the Witch’s Castle game to Marina. Since she’s better at video games, she made it through just fine, and Momo didn’t find the game scary anymore.

-This isn’t just the first Momo suit we get in the game, but it’s also the first suit Momo ever designed.
-For once, Momo doesn’t object to being called a cat in this Reflection. Usually, he hates it.

Makes about 18 slices, for 4-6 persons
Pumpkin is a superfood, full of nutrients and great nutritional value. It is inexpensive and quite versatile with so many uses for savory and sweet dishes.
For example: The Roasted Pumpkin I show you today, is prepared very quickly and uses ingredients that you usually have available in your pantry.
Let me show you how to prepare them and enjoy them while you snuggle this autumn next to the fireplace.
Suitable for fasting and vegans (vegans can use agave syrup instead of honey).
INGREDIENTS:
• 1.4 kg / 3 lb 1.75 oz Pumpkin (orange color)
• 70 gr / 2.5 oz / 1/5 cup / about 3.5 tbsp. Greek Thyme Honey (or subst.)
• 213 gr / 7.5 oz / 1 cup Brown Sugar (light or dark brown)
• 1 tsp. ground Cinnamon
• 1 tsp. mixed Spice
• ¼ tsp. All-Spice (bahari)
• 50 gr / 1.75 oz / less than ½ cup Walnuts, chopped
• 1 tbsp. Olive oil (for the tray)
METHOD:
A. Prepare the pumpkin:
1. Wash the pumpkin under running water.
2. Pat it dry with thick kitchen paper.
3. Using a sharp knife, cut pumpkin in half. Remove its seeds.
4. Cut each half into 9 slices, like crescents (keep skin on!).
5. Place the pumpkin slices in a deep bowl. Reserve.
B. Make the Spice mix and prepare for baking:
6. In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar with the spices.
7. Brush some olive oil on a large oven tray.
8. Take each pumpkin slice and dip it in the spice mix, pressing on both sides so that the mix will stick on it.
9. Place coated pumpkin slices on the tray, the one next to the other.
10. Sprinkle any leftover from the spice mix on top.
11. Drizzle the honey on top of the pumpkin slices as well. Ready for some delicious baking.
C. Baking instructions:
12. Roast Pumpkin in a preheated oven Fan @180℃/ 350℉ for 40'-45' or until the slices turn golden and they are caramelized (depends on the oven).
13. While waiting for the oven to finish, roast chopped walnuts in a non-stick pan (without oil) over low-medium heat, for a couple of min. flipping them regularly.
14. Remove from heat. Let them cool down.
15. After about 45', remove the tray with roasted pumpkin from the oven. Pumpkin slices should be golden, tender and caramelized.
16. Just before serving, sprinkle the roasted walnuts on top.
D. Serving suggestions:
When they cool down a bit, serve the roasted pumpkins. They can also be served @ room temp or chilled!
You can serve them in a plate drizzling some of the delectable syrup on top!
An easy, Autumnal, healthy, delicious treat for the whole family.
Serve with Greek strained yoghurt or cream or vanilla ice cream.

Φτιάχνει περίπου 18 φέτες, για 4-6 άτομα
Η κολοκύθα είναι μια υπερτροφή, γεμάτη πολύτιμα συστατικά και μεγάλη θρεπτική αξία. Είναι φθηνή και πολύ προσαρμόσιμη με τόσες πολλές χρήσεις σε αλμυρά και γλυκά πιάτα.
Για παράδειγμα: Η ψητή κολοκύθα που σας δείχνω σήμερα, ετοιμάζεται πολύ γρήγορα και χρησιμοποιεί υλικά που συνήθως έχετε διαθέσιμα στη ντουλάπα της κουζίνας σας.
Πάμε να σας δείξω πώς να την ετοιμάσετε και να την απολαύσετε όσο θα χουχουλιάζετε αυτό το φθινόπωρο δίπλα στο τζάκι.
Κατάλληλο για νηστεία και για βίγκαν (που μπορούν να χρησιμοποιήσουν σιρόπι αγαύης αντί για μέλι).
ΥΛΙΚΑ:
• 1,4 kg / 3 lb 1,75 oz Κολοκύθα Πορτοκαλί
• 70 γρ / 2,5 oz / 1/5 φλ. / περίπου 3,5 κ.σ. θυμαρίσιο Μέλι (ή υποκατάστατο)
• 213 γρ / 7,5 oz / 1 φλ. καφέ Ζάχαρη (ανοιχτή ή σκούρα καστανή)
• 1 κ.γ. Κανέλα σκόνη
• 1 κ.γ. ανάμεικτα Μπαχαρικά σκόνη (δείτε πιο κάτω τη συνταγή)
• ¼ κ.γ. Μπαχάρι σκόνη
• 50 γρ / 1,75 oz / λιγότερο από ½ φλ. Καρύδια, ψιλοκομμένα
• 1 κ.σ. Ελαιόλαδο (για τη λαμαρίνα)
ΜΕΘΟΔΟΣ:
Α. Ετοιμάστε την κολοκύθα:
1. Πλύντε την κολοκύθα κάτω από τρεχούμενο νερό.
2. Στεγνώστε τη με απορροφητικό χαρτί κουζίνας.
3. Χρησιμοποιώντας ένα κοφτερό μαχαίρι, κόψτε την κολοκύθα στη μέση. Αφαιρέστε τους σπόρους της.
4. Κόψτε κάθε μισό σε 9 φέτες, σαν μισοφέγγαρα (κρατήστε το φλούδι!).
5. Τοποθετήστε τις φέτες κολοκύθας σε ένα βαθύ μπολ. Βάλτε στην άκρη.
Β. Φτιάξτε το μείγμα μπαχαρικών και ετοιμάστε το γλυκό για ψήσιμο:
ΣΗΜΕΙΩΣΗ:
Φτιάξτε μόνοι σας τα ανάμικτα μπαχαρικά που χρησιμοποιούνται για να αρωματίσετε τη ψητή Κολοκύθα, αν δεν τα βρίσκετε έτοιμα στα σουπερμάρκετ. Η ποσότητα που σας δίνω είναι μεγαλύτερη, αλλά μπορείτε να τα προσθέσετε για παράδειγμα στη Χριστουγεννιάτικη Γέμιση Γαλοπούλας, σε κεκάκια Κολοκύθας, στον ζεστό Καπουτσίνο σας ή και σε άλλα γλυκά ή φαγητά, για να τα κάνετε ελαφρώς πικάντικα. Μπ��ρείτε να τα φυλάξετε αρκετό καιρό όπως άλλα μπαχαρικά σε γυάλινο μπουκαλάκι.
Η συνταγή είναι να ανακατέψετε μαζί μέχρι να ομογενοποιηθούν:
9 μέρη Κανέλα σκόνη
2 μέρη Μοσχοκάρυδο σκόνη
2 μέρη Τζίντζερ (πιπερόριζα) σκόνη
1.5 μέρος Γαρύφαλο σκόνη
1.5 μέρος Μπαχάρι σκόνη
6. Σε ένα μπολ ανακατέψτε κατόπιν την καστανή ζάχαρη με όλα τα μπαχαρικά.
7. Αλείψτε λίγο ελαιόλαδο σε μια λαμαρίνα.
8. Πάρτε μια φέτα κολοκύθας κάθε φορά και βουτήξτε τη στο μείγμα μπαχαρικών πιέζοντας και από τις δύο πλευρές ώστε να κολλήσει το μείγμα πάνω της.
9. Βάλτε τις επικαλυμμένες φέτες κολοκύθας στη λαμαρίνα, τη μία δίπλα στην άλλη.
10. Πασπαλίστε από πάνω ό,τι περίσσεψε από το μείγμα μπαχαρικών.
11. Περιχύστε το μέλι πάνω από τις φέτες κολοκύθας. Έτοιμες για πεντανόστιμο ψήσιμο.
Γ. Οδηγίες ψησίματος:
12. Ψήστε την κολοκύθα σε προθερμασμένο φούρνο στον αέρα @180℃/ 350℉ για 40'-45' ή μέχρι να χρυσίσουν οι φέτες και να καραμελώσουν (εξαρτάται από τον φούρνο).
13. Περιμένοντας να τελειώσει ο φούρνος, καβουρδίστε τα ψιλοκομμένα καρύδια σε αντικολλητικό, αλάδωτο τηγάνι πάνω από χαμηλή προς μέτρια φωτιά, για κανά δύο λεπτά αναποδογυρίζοντάς τα τακτικά.
14. Αποσύρετε από τη φωτιά. Αφήστε τα να κρυώσουν.
15. Μετά από 45' περίπου, βγάλτε τη λαμαρίνα με την ψητή κολοκύθα από το φούρνο. Οι φέτες κολοκύθας πρέπει να είναι χρυσαφένιες, μαλακές και καραμελωμένες.
16. Λίγο πριν σερβίρετε, πασπαλίστε από πάνω τα καβουρδισμένα καρύδια.
Δ. Προτάσεις σερβιρίσματος:
Μόλις κρυώσει λίγο, σερβίρετε τη ψητή κολοκύθα. Μπορεί επίσης να σερβιριστεί σε θερμοκρασία δωματίου ή και κρύα!
Σερβίρετε σε πιάτο περιχύνοντας λίγο από το απολαυστικό σιρόπι από πάνω!
Μια εύκολη, Φθινοπωρινή, υγιεινή, λαχταριστή απόλαυση για όλη την οικογένεια.
Μπορείτε να τη σερβίρετε με στραγγιστό γιαούρτι ή κρέμα γάλακτος ή παγωτό βανίλια.

How To Make Pumpkin Puree

This looks really impressive and tastes great out of the oven. The taste and texture are better the sooner you eat it, so I think that for just two people it would be better to make it in a 1.5 lb pumpkin instead of a 3lb pumpkin if you can find one that small. I subbed celery for nuts, which was alright, but I think nuts would have been better. Walnuts are probably the best choice here. I also think it might be better if the rice is cooked in broth instead of water because you have to add a ton of salt to this to get enough flavor. Also, I would increase the ratio of dried fruit to rice by 1.5. Use butter, as directed: I used 3/4 olive oil and 1/4 butter and you could really taste the olive oil, which I think is definitely not what you want in this dish. More honey might be good too, you can't taste it too much, and you could add more spices: a dash of nutmeg, cloves, allspice.
Update: remade this with walnuts and with the filling increased 1.5x, which was really nice. I also made the rice with some diluted broth, which was really nice, and tripled the amount of honey, which kind if masked the broth after everything was baked, so I think just increasing the honey 1.5x from the already increased filling ratio would be fine. I used apple pie spice instead of cinnamon and something was a bit off. Not sure if my spices were too old or if it was just too much of them, but the addition took away from the taste. Next time add just cinnamon and add at the very end, once you've combined all the other filling ingredients.

going to a pumpkin patch with nanami on one of his off days. you guys look like the cutest couple ever in your adorable styled layered outfits. there are so many great options, you nearly pack a wagon filled of them before nanami gently moves your attention away. “what are we gonna do with 10 pumpkins, baby?” well, fine.
so you grab a huge one, three small ones that megumi, yuuji, and nobara can carve, and one with an adorable twist stem that hangs off of it. nanami picks one out himself, and you nearly giggle when you see how perfect and pristine it looks. similar to its owner, it looked like it came right out of a catalogue.
“i think i’ll roast some pumpkin seeds from this one.”
“that sounds great, my love,”
he can’t help but smile at the sight of you all giddy, running over to every other pumpkin and exclaiming “look at this one, it’s sooo cute!!” . he’d buy you the entire farm if it meant he could see your adorable face light up like this everyday.
but his heart really swells when you two walk up to a little landing. he nearly bumps into your back when you abruptly stop, your attention suddenly caught by a family nearby. giggles ring through the air as the little girl runs past her parents to a huge pumpkin in the clearing. she uses all the strength in her little legs to lift the fruit, to no avail. a little “umph!” is able to be heard when she falls back on her butt, followed by more sweet giggles.
it brings a small reserved smile to his face, but seeing your pouty lips, pretty doe eyes filled with mist, cooing softly at the scene in front of you was nearly enough to make a wide grin spread on his face.
you quick a glance at your fiancé, checking to see if he just noticed the adorable scene in front of you.
his heart throbs at the sight of you, and he can’t help but lean down to press a kiss to your lips, storing that small piece of information for later. <3
