Welp Senate officially passed the bill to ban TikTok.
I know a lot of people on this app hate TikTok, and believe me I get where that is coming from, but this is a huge violation of the first amendment and has horrifying implications for free speech.
It’s also very telling that they’re doing this right now. TikTok is one of the biggest ways that people in Palestine have to show the rest of the world what is happening. The government wants to take away this access and information.
It’s also one of the fastest ways people all around the world spread information. This is what a modern day book burning looks like.
The bill is going in front of the president tomorrow. He has the power to veto it, so write and call as soon as your can:
Students from several universities in the Washington Metropolitan Area have joined forces to demand their schools cut ties to Israel and for an end to Israel’s assault on Gaza.
Yasmine, a student leading the protests that have grown into an encampment, says they are calling for their universities to “divest from any companies that sell weapons or technology” to Israel.
They are also calling on their universities to drop all charges against students “who spoke up or students who are pro-Palestine”, Yasmine told Al Jazeera.
“Many of us are … facing repression and charges and hearings from our universities for simply protesting,” she said.
Many of the protesters, she added, wear masks because of the “heavy targeting and the heavy doxing … against us”.
Students do expect the police to intervene later today in a bid to break up the gathering, according to Al Jazeera’s Patty Culhane, reporting from Washington, DC.

The DMV Coalition of Students for Justice in Palestine explain that "while the encampment is taking place at GW, it is a space organized by students across the DMV — George Washington, George Mason, American, Georgetown, UMD, UMBC, Howard, and Gallaudet — for students across the DMV as a united demonstration of our power, uplifting our collective demands for financial transparency, boycotts and divestment from the zionist state, and an end to the racist repression [of] pro-Palestine students."

The most beautiful people are those who have known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and still dance in the face of death.
My images from Saturday's Palestine Peace march through London. More than half a million Brits came together as one to demand an end to the genocide and the illegal occupation of Palestine.

I haven’t seen anyone talk about this, which makes me think it isn’t being reported, but right now the largest protest for Palestine in the history of the United States is taking place in Washington DC. Thousands turned up to show their solidarity for Palestine and to call for a ceasefire.
Look at this, they won’t be able to ignore us for much longer.
The Daily Show hosted a press conference in Washington DC to officially reveal their new full-time anchor. That anchor turned out to somehow be Brennan Lee Mulligan.
