He comes over to Carlos slowly from the side, runs his hands from the center of Carlos’ back, letting them fan out across his shoulder blades before giving him a gentle squeeze. He drops a kiss on the crown of Carlos’ head, breathes in the scent of his shampoo and feels his heart tighten as it always does when they’re close like this.

“What’s going on in here?” he asks, ruffling a hand in Carlos’ curls and gently scratching his scalp.

Carlos laughs softly, more so lets out a puff of air. TK shifts to sit across from him, reaching for Carlos’ hands. His boyfriend offers them to him without hesitation though he doesn’t rush to speak. 

It’s one of TK’s favorite things about Carlos. He’s always deliberate with his words, keen to get his thoughts out just right to paint an accurate picture of what he’s feeling. Since they started dating, perhaps even since they first started becoming friends, TK has admired that trait. He himself doesn’t have much of a filter and often finds himself having to backpedal if he speaks too rashly in the moment. 

But not Carlos. He seems to have come out of the womb knowing the importance of words, of taking his time.

Ok here goes!! I’m new to the 911 LS fandom and thus this is my first addition to Seven Sentence Sunday (let us all ignore that it’s already Monday in my timezone) I’ll be asleep when this posts due to that! Please enjoy this graphic I cooked up on a whim because I totally forgot that was a thing until 5 minutes ago!

Extremely nervous to post this as it’s really the first foray back into writing in years. This is part of a as yet unnamed colleagues AU that I’ve been working on

“You know you should totally fuck me against that nice big window,” TK announces as he roams around Carlos’ new office, fingers dancing along the windowsill, sparing a glance outside, raindrops pelting heavily against the glass, the storm clouds shielding most of the cityscape below.

Carlos fixes him with an unimpressed glare. “TK we’re at work,” he groans, “could you at least try not to be crude.” TK turns from the window, circling back to strand in front of Carlos, before leaning against the desk behind him, shrugging plainly, “I’m just saying,” he whines, reaching out a hand to poke his pointer finger into Carlos’ abdomen.

“Is it the promotion making you so uptight?,” he asks, absentmindedly tugging on the lower buttons of Carlos’ shirt.

“I am not uptight,” Carlos refutes, shoving TKs hand away.

“Are you sure? Because I seem to recall a time when we did very naughty things, very often, in this very building,” he smirks, his hand once again ghosting across Carlos’ abdomen, his pinky finger dipping beneath the waistband of his slacks.

Carlos bites back a moan at TKs tone and innuendo, the touch of his hand against his body, “and now I can’t even make a suggestion without you scolding me, that doesn’t seem fair baby.”

Carlos bring a hand up to rest between the gap where TKs neck meets his clavicle. “I’m just saying don’t get your hopes up for any repeat performances, I’d actually like to keep my job.” TK huffs a breath, retracting his own hand from Carlos’ body.

“Killjoy,” he mutters under his breath, a pout forming on his lips. “Also you just proved my point,” he exclaims. “By saying I wouldn’t sleep with you on the premises,” Carlos asks, quirking an eyebrow at him. “Yes,” TK replies in an instant.

“You’re seriously telling me you have your own private office now, that also has a lock might I add, and you’re not going to fuck me in it.” His pout deepening. “Last month you had me on my knees in one of the unlocked restroom stalls, and now you-,” he doesn’t get to finish his sentence.

Carlos tugs him forward, grasping his wrists, twisting both behind his back. He presses himself as close as he can with the intrusion of their joined hands between them, biting down on TKs earlobe, breath hot against his ear. “You’re being a terror.” TK inhales sharply, still trying to keep his cool, “Am I?,” he asks, sounding only mildly pathetic.

“You need to behave baby, or you won’t be getting fucked anywhere,” Carlos warns, voice rough, his grip on TKs wrists tightening.

“What,” TK cries out in disbelief. “Do I need to repeat myself,” Carlos asks, though he knows the answer already. “No,” TK lets out quietly. “Good boy,” Carlos praises, and it takes all of TKs willpower not to grind back against Carlos at the endearment.

Thanks to @orchidscript for the tag and thanks to @three-drink-amy for both the tag and thinking up this idea! I love the idea of promoting our own work; we're proud of it, why shouldn't we share it!

Rule: share a fic you wrote that you’re proud of!

I'm going to go with our love's a protective poison; a character study of TK through the eyes of Gwyn. It's one that I'll always come back to when referring to some of my favorite work in the LS fandom. Though it be little; it has a big piece of my heart.

Here's my favorite part from it:

Carlos gently paces around the living room before he finds himself staring at a photo. He looks at Owen, Gwyn, TK, Jonah and himself. “No it’s fine.” Carlos had argued when Owen asked him to jump in. “It’s a family photo.” “Exactly.” Gwyn agreed. “So get in here.”

It's born on out of listening to You Are Your Mother's Child by Conor Oberst and thinking it's the most TK Strand coded song I've come across. It also includes one of my favorite tropes: calling someone knowing they're never going to pick up the phone, but you just want to talk to them like they're still listening.

So yeah, just always going to be super proud of this one ❤️

The Monsters Turned Out to be Just Trees by @liminalmemories21

I don’t know how everyone else is in a new fandom, but when I start reading fic for a fandom, I always look for canon compliant fics first. And then slowly I will venture into AUs. Missing moments are always a go-to for me so this fic appealed me right away. I remember racing through it, falling in love, re-reading it, instantly reading the rest of the series, and then diving into all her other Tarlos fics!!

Your girl loves an E rated fic so obviously I a) had to read this the second I read the summary and b) ate it up. Then to look and see the absolute gold mine that is the 911 LS section of Rae’s ao3???? I was thrilled!!

WIP Wednesday

Thank you for the tag @rmd-writes!! Here’s another look at my LS teacher AU!

Carlos watches as the kids file in, most of them with extra items they don’t normally have. He sighs to himself, realizing once again that he needs to set limitations on Show and Tell day. His first limitation was two years ago when he changed it from once a week to once a month. But as he watches Jonah walk in with a huge tank barely held up in his arms, he realizes there needs to be more rules.

“You okay there, Jonah?”

“Got it, Mr. Reyes!”

He walks closer anyway, finding a good place for Jonah to leave it. Clearing a spot on top of a short bookshelf, Carlos helps him lift it up there. “So, what’s in here?” he asks.

“My lizard,” Jonah replies excitedly.

On instinct, Carlos’s hands fly back from the tank. “Oh?”

“I can’t wait to show him off today.”

As he walks back to his desk, Carlos mutters to himself, “I can’t wait to email your brother and ask him how he thought this was an appropriate idea for show and tell.”

This chaotic passage from (Un)professional Services, the Tarlos professional services AU I wrote with @welcometololaland (really this entire scene, but this passage demonstrates the vibe well - I don’t think of myself as a funny writer, so I’m proud of this scene!):

TK is surprised that Carlos hasn’t simply walked away from this chaos – and from him – at this point.

“I’m taking Carlos to my room,” he announces, taking Carlos’ hand. “C’mon, this way.”

“Do you still have an open door policy for TK?” he can hear his dad ask his mom behind them.

“No, Owen, TK is almost 30 so I don’t make him leave his door open if he has someone in there. Sweetie, there’s a whole box of those condoms from the office in—”

TK stops. “Oh my god! I’m not having sex with Carlos!”

Everyone looks at him in shock.

“Right now,” he amends.

I don’t write much angst, but I broke my heart writing baby TK in Precious Love (actually, I broke my heart writing most of this fic)

“You and I will still live here. But your dad won’t.”

TK doesn’t understand. Why doesn’t Dad want to live with him anymore? Is it because he leaves his Lego on the floor?

“Dad?” TK blinks. His eyes feel hot and itchy and his heart is beating really fast.

“I’m sorry, TK. Your mom is right. It’s better for us if I don’t live here anymore, but I promise that I still love you. It’s just going to be better this way.”

“But I want you to live here. With us! I promise I’ll be quiet when you sleep and won’t wake you up. And I promise to pick up my Lego. And I won’t leave my shoes in the doorway. And—” TK sniffs and rubs at his eyes with the back of his fist.

“Tyler, honey, it’s not anything you’ve done,” his mom says. Her voice sounds wobbly.

“Mommy, tell him not to go!” he cries.

From despite it all:

TK only breaks the kiss when his lungs are aching for air, resting their foreheads together. He peppers gentle kisses across Carlos’ jaw and down his neck, following a familiar path, using each kiss to write his love into his boyfriend’s skin, as if doing so will etch it there permanently, indelibly; a tattoo to match the mark Carlos has left on TK’s entire state of existence. Carlos cups his cheek as he looks up at him and the sheer fondness of his gaze has TK’s heart twisting in his chest as he stares back up at Carlos and wonders if he can’t just stay on his knees forever. 

also this first kiss from yours for the afternoon:

The first press of their lips together is gentle, almost chaste, but Alex slips his other hand around Henry’s back pulling him closer and Henry finds the soft dip of Alex’s waist inside his open coat, and when they kiss again, Alex parts his lips for him. He tastes sweet from the dessert but there’s something more, something unique to Alex that Henry wants to chase. He deepens the kiss, tangling his fingers in the curls at the base of Alex’s neck, losing himself in the slide of their tongues together and the press of Alex’s teeth as he tugs on Henry’s lower lip. When Henry pulls Alex closer so that there’s no space between them, kissing him thoroughly, as if there’s nothing more he needs in that moment than Alex and the feel of his mouth against his own, Alex makes a noise in the back of his throat that Henry swallows greedily. They part, breathless; minutes or hours later, Henry doesn’t know and frankly, he doesn’t care, all he can think about is the fact that he wants to do that again and never stop. 

He rests his forehead against Alex’s. “Hi,” he says on an exhale.

I’m so so proud of to the victor, the spoils (and its prequel). I can’t share my favourite passages from those fics without spoiling them, so I’ll give you this exchange with my beloved Bri instead:

Brianna has a coffee waiting for him when he arrives. “You’re a gem, Bri, what would I do without you?”

“Flounder aimlessly for a bit and then die a slow, uncaffeinated death probably.”

“That’s dark,” he says, taking a long sip of his coffee. 

“So, did you get the win?” she asks, looking over Alex with a quizzical expression on her face. 

“Of course I fucking did, Fox should have listened to me and withdrawn his application. I don’t know why he insisted on running it, he’s infuriating. The entire application was a waste of time.”

“Mmhmm,” Bri cocks her head and raises an eyebrow at him. 

“What? Why are you looking at me like that?”

“That’s not the tie you were wearing this morning, Alex. Looks kind of boring to me,” Bri smirks at him and walks out of his office. 

Alex looks down. Fuck. He’s been wearing Henry’s tie.

This is one of the first times I read my own writing and thought, “I really love this”, from it’s just for snow:

When David stops talking, his voice is scratchy; he feels flayed from the inside out. He’s never bared so much of himself to anyone before, not like this. He prefers to only let people see the broadest brushes of himself, to keep them at a distance that won’t allow them to see the individual brushstrokes that make up David Rose. He doesn’t know why, but talking to Patrick in the dark, from the safety of his cocoon of blankets – it feels safe – Patrick feels safe. 

I’m also very proud of my The Grindr Toolbox: A Guide to Getting Nailed series, which features a fic from each of my fandoms, written for the same prompt.

Another shirt is ruined.  It's hard to concentrate with TK’s hands roaming over his chest and his mouth on his neck, but Carlos thinks that he’s down to four button downs at this point. The two buttons that scattered to the floor thanks to TK’s frantic need to get him shirtless. Unlike Carlos’ mindfulness of care towards clothing, TK has the opposite kind of thinking. The fastest way to get Carlos naked, the better. “Baby, you owe me another shirt.” It’s said breathless and with less heat than he wants.  “Shouldn’t have to wear a shirt in the first place.” TK’s tongue licks around his nipple, causing a moan to rip out of Carlos’ throat. “Such a waste.”  Not wanting to let TK think he has the upperhand, Carlos takes a fistfull of TK’s hair and tugs, tearing him away from his chest. By the wide grin on his boyfriend’s face, TK is less deterred and more delighted by this turn of events. That’s okay. Carlos loves a bratty TK. “Such a smart mouth. What am I going to do with that?” “I can think of a few ideas.”

wip wednesday! I hit 50k on 10 things au today!

“Are you sure your family likes me?” TK asks, leaning on the bar as Carlos reaches across for another glass of wine. Now that the formal part of the evening is over, his top button is undone, his tie pulled slightly loose and his hair a little less perfect. It might have something to do with the seven minutes of heaven in the restrooms earlier, which was outrageously risky, but TK wasn’t about to say no once Carlos dragged him in there.

“I think Tía Lucy wants to adopt you,” Carlos replies, thanking the bartender before shooting TK a wry smile. “Which would make things really complicated. So if she asks, please say—”

“Shut up, dude,” TK snorts. “Be serious. I want them to like me.”

“They like you, TK,” Carlos insists. “My mom is acting like you’re the one marrying my sister. You know it’s rude to show up Eren on his wedding day, right?”

“Ugh,” TK groans, rolling his eyes as Carlos bats him on the arm playfully. “You’re the worst. It wasn’t your sister I was making out with in the bathroom.”

Carlos raises his glass. “Thank god for that.”

“Speaking of which, should we—”

“Do you want to go outside for a bit?” Carlos asks, tilting his head towards the lamp-lit decking. “I hear there’s a dark corner with your name on it.”

Day 2 - Read a fic in a new fandom

Choosing which fandom was actually the easiest part considering the uncanny amount of crossover between the SC - 911:LS - RWRB fandoms on this site (at least amongst the users I follow). For this prompt I’ve chosen Schitt’s Creek. I absolutely love this show but have never ventured into reading fic for it so now seems like a good time to take a small dive in ☺️ Since I’ve read the Tarlos and Firstprince editions of this series I already knew this one was going to be sweet, funny and hot 🔥 And oh what a delightful treat this was for my Sunday afternoon, I had SO much fun with this. I would highly recommend a read of all 3. Rae you are an absolute gem!

I don't remember how exactly I came across this, but I remember I was immediately intrigued! And it was a WIP at that time so I was waiting for it to be posted in its entirety so that I would be able to read it all in one go. But then I simply couldn't resist after seeing some asks on Lola's Tumblr about it. AND IT WAS SO GOOD!

So I remember around the time after DINAH last year people were talking about how Rafa said that Carlos left TK a voicemail when the plane was coming down & someone mentioned reading a fic about that so I went looking on ao3 & this is one of the fics I had found. And I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! I re-read it a couple times & then a few days later the first Missing Moments just dropped. So I was even more intrigued by Andie's fics!

So I remember that when this came out, there was actually talk in the fandom that TK was a speed demon. And then I just happen to see this on a Tarlos fic rec page & boy oh boy did I laugh at the coincidence of this all! And then I found Shannon's Tumblr blog & the live comments on a LS rewatch she was doing at that time!Amd that made me even more interested about the fics that came next!

RWRB:

A Distinctly British Take on Events by RevJohnO (not sure about their Tumblr url)

I think I randomly came across this fic on an RWRB fic rec page & I was immediately hooked! It was Henry POV of the entire events of the book, long before CMQ even announced the special edition with the Henry POV chapter. The writing style was brilliant & the way the author wrote Henry's character was mind-blowing!

I think this was among the first RWRB fics I read. I think I found out about this one from either a RWRB fic recs page or I went exploring the Alex/Henry tag on ao3. And I absolutely loved this fic & re-read it so many times! And then I remember reading 'Reclamation'. And boy was I totally hooked on the other fics!

Heart & Home by @rmd-writes

Again, one of the first RWRB fics I remember reading (and re-reading) & I loved Rae's writing style so much that I was just so intrigued! And then I saw that Rae wrote for Schitt's Creek as well. And then Rae started writing for 911 Lone Star as well! So I was triple-intrigued!

This was so much fun! As always, this got a few more fics added to my re-read list!

Really interested to see what everyone else comes up with!
