Sorting characters into Hogwarts Houses is OUT; sorting characters into Avatar Nations is IN.

(I mean, I could do both but. Not in the same post.)

Criteria used for sorting comes from Iroh's explanation to Zuko in "Bitter Work" and this reddit post: Water: the element of change and of mind. Fire: the element of power and of emotion. Earth: the element of substance and of body. Air: the element of freedom and of spirit.

Yusei: Water Tribe, hands down. He is both a healer and a protector, so it makes sense he would have the one element that allows him to do both. He's the king of being able to adapt in less-than-ideal situations (the prison duels, anyone?) and quite obviously values community.

Jack: Fire Nation, obviously. C'mon, it's the element of power, for crying out loud! And he absolutely possesses the energy and drive to achieve his goals. Nothing makes more sense to me than Jack being a fire bender.

Aki: Fire Nation. I see-sawed between and fire and earth honestly. A lot of her monsters are fire types, but they are also plants. She is similar to Jack in desire and drive, but she is also strong and persistent. In the end, this one came down to character arc, in a sort of "learning there is beauty here and not just destruction" way.

Crow: Air Nomads. I hesitated on this one, but it wouldn't let me go. Everything from his bird-themed deck down his color scheme screams "air bender!" ...even if the philosophy doesn't quite match up. I can't really see him being entirely detached from the world. I also can't see him with a bald head. He'd have to be a bit of rebel but really, that's already his personality anyway. Not to mention, he collects orphans already. His canon living situation isn't really that different from Air Nomad culture in the "no parents, everyone lives together" kind of way. Also...can you imagine him with a gilder????

Rua: Water Tribe. The twins were so hard, ya'll. In the end, chose water here because of their sense of community and love that gets them through anything. Sounds an awful like Rua in my opinion. (Also. While its doubtful it would take so long for him discover he's a bender... it's also the element of change which works well with him eventually becoming a Signer.)

Ruka: Water Tribe. Debated Air Nomads (despite it being different to her brother) because she can talk to spirits and she's really not a fighter by nature, but in the end, I think water works better, partly because of the community aspect and partly because I just think healing would be more her wheel house (though if push comes to shove, obviously she can fight fiercely as well).

Can you please please elaborate about the Lore chanel in the yugioh protag's discord?

I am imagining some truly spectacular things that Jaden has extremely casually mentioned and NEVER EXPLAINED

Jaden Yuki absolute KING of casually saying the most wild thing you've ever heard in your entire life ad then moving on like it's nothing. He drives all the younger protagonists crazy, while Yugi and Yusei have just accepted that he is Like This.

The kids pestered Yugi to add the Lore channel just so they have a place to collect all the weird messages he sends. (Occasionally others get immortalized in the Hall of Weird and most of the guys consider it a great honor. Yuma is the proud car carrier of Second Most Bonkers Guy In This GC by messages in the lore channel)

Some notable examples include:

Until Yuya joins there is a ongoing disagreement between Yubel and Jaden on how many dimensions there are. Jaden says its twelve because Eisenstien and Bastion say so and Yubel says its nine because they were in space when the whole split happened. When Yuya joins and tentatively divulges that he saved four dimensions, Jaden ruined a very emotional moment by yelling “I TOLD YOU THERE WERE TWELVE!! :D” Cue everyone shouting "TWELVE???" So now they keep a running list of possible dimensions and Jaden refuses to confirm or deny any of them

Jaden: Was standing next to Chazz at the bus stop n he opened his umbrella n honestly nearly had a heart attack I thought the vampires were back for a second Everyone: Hey Jaden :) what :) do you mean :) "back"??

Shark thinks its really funny to write notes to Yuma in the language of his first life as Nash. One time Yuma posted a picture to show everyone what he has to put up with and Jaden was like “It just says ‘have a nice day, idiot’.” (Nash’s empire was composed of many cultures and languages, Jaden can only barely read it, but his kingdom in his prior life was a few hundred years down the line folded into Nash’s empire and the writing system adopted basically unchanged.)

But it drives everyone insane because one time Yugi was talking about Atem and Jaden went "Psh. I could have been egyptian royalty if I wanted to."

Today is the anniversary of my blog, enter-the-performapals! This time last year, I made my first post on this blog, this one right here! Since then, I've had so many great interactions, lovely compliments on my art, participate in fun events, and probably my best year of art development since I started this hobby over a decade ago.

For this piece, I wanted to draw inspiration from the piece that started it all on here, but now adding Judai. This time last year, I was about halfway through my rewatch of Arc-V. Now, I'm a good chunk through GX. Hopefully this time next year I'll be able to add Yusei and possibly even Yuma to the redraw!

Gavreel and Cairo

When it comes to BL, the Philippines won when it came to tackling how the pandemic affected connection and romance. I really like presentation of developing a crush on a streamer and just going for it with these two. I'm still waiting for my proper gamers BL, but this is a good first outing.

I think what I like so much about what we got from these two is how temporary so much of their lives feels. They want to be together. They want to commit. However, life won't let them. Gav can't stay here and be okay because he's running out of money and honestly isn't that well right now. Cairo is still grieving his dad, and he has a lot of growing up to do.

They're one of the rare pairs that I want to be together in the future who I am glad are forced to take a break when we see them part.

Hira and Kiyoi

I think the best thing about this show and this pairing was the reveal that Kiyoi was also obsessed with Hira from the moment their eyes first locked. I also really like that Kiyoi is a bottom who wants it.

We've been lucky with these two that we got to see them three times, and I like how much stronger Yagi has gotten as an actor each time, and how Hagiwara has grown as a creator and storyteller. These two seem to really understand that they have two characters who struggle to say what's necessary to each other in a way that reaches the other.

I loved in Season 2 when Kiyoi realized that Hira was still worshiping him as a god and freaked the fuck out about it, storming out of the house. That he was in the living room the next morning waiting for Hira to come and talk to him, only to get annoyed again was perfect. We get fairly decent payoff for Hira finally facing his own ego when it comes to Kiyoi in the movie, and these two remain among my favorites.

Also, Yagi Yusei really is that beautiful.

Teh and Oh

I just know if I was part of MoRaoYuLok I would have a side chat where we just bitched about these two.

Teh is such an asshole sometimes, and Oh is really so patient with his nonsense. I always lament that Teh is so unsociable that he struggles to maintain a lot of friendships, and it's why that snake Jai was able to get in there and fuck up his life. Still, Teh isn't off the hook for his own shit. He's always struggled with jealousy when it comes to Oh, and he's always worried about falling behind him.

Oh is just so naturally gifted and has an irresistible natural charm. He knows he's beautiful, and he knows how people see yet, and yet he's only ever looking at Teh. We should all be so lucky.

I think about that translation scene in episode 3 of ITSAY regularly, and how that is probably one of the best moments we've ever had in BL. These two really captured a love that feels bigger than their bodies can contain.

Tan and Bun

I'll talk about Tan and Bun since it's been too long since I watched Together With Me and cannot remember them that clearly anymore.

Tan was so ridiculous this entire show, and I'll never get over Bun being ACAB as fuck the whole time. Bun never forgot that he was trying to solve this case for his bestie who they murdered, but he knew she would want him to get some ass along the way.

Tan said absolutely insane shit to Bun literally every episode. He even shot that man off a cliff. Somehow he still won. Incredible.

Everything was almost the same. This time Yusei finally confessed to you.

“Happy 2 month anniversary my dear.” He said handing you a single rose with a stuffed bunny. You blushed and took them. “Happy anniversary Yusei.” You replied handing him a basket with snacks and a stuffed bear with a love letter. “Mhm a letter. Let’s see.” He teased you. “Not right now! I’d pass out if you read it now.” You spoke. “I have one more gift for you beautiful.” He said handing you a sticker of your name. “ for your duel runner.”you smiled. “ If it isn’t y/n and Yusei you guys are dating..publicly. Yusei I thought you’d keep it hidden. Dating this mess will make you lose popularity.” Emi spoke. She was furious. “It’s our 2nd month anniversary.” You said confidently. “Broke out of your shell. “Can’t believe that fatty survived.” Emi said. “Omg Yusei you must have been so scared.” a random girl spoke to Yusei playing with his jacket. “You’re so sweet to take her to the hospital.” another girl commented while playing with his hair. You were shocked. He didn’t even try to stop them. “You must be so stressed from the accident.” a third girl said touching his chest. You left the room without him noticing you. “I’m sorry ladies but I’m taken by Y/n. The girl from the accident.” He pushed them off. “H-He’s such-how could he?” You said speaking to a friend who picked you up.Jaden. “Cool off then you can call him out on it.” He suggested. “ he said he loves me. Then he’s with some random girls.” You cried remembering all the times of when girls bullied you. Maybe they were right. Maybe no one will love me. I’m a loser. I’m a nobody. The next day Yusei showed up. You slapped the living crap out of him. “You stupid piece of shit! You asshole how dare you show up! You played me!! Is it because you felt sorry for me!? Guess what I don’t need your pitty! I know I’m fat! I know I have a big stomach and thick thighs. I know I’m not the best looking.” You yelled crying. Jaden also showed up. “U-Uh I’ll come back later.” He said holding snacks and food. “Get inside Jaden.” You ordered. “Y-yes dude? Girl? ma’am?” He hurried on inside. “What are you talking about it y/n? I came because I want to see my girlfriend! You!” Yusei yelled. “You were with 3 other girls! Don’t act stupid! I saw you! They were all up in your business and you didn’t stop them. You nasty dog! I’m not your girlfriend anymore! I’m breaking up with you!” You yelled crying then slammed the door at his face and locked it. “Y/n! Let me explain! It’s not what you think it is! I love you!” Yusei said banging on the door. “Don’t come back here! Don’t you dare ever talk to me again!” You yelled. Jaden was so shocked to even hear you guys arguing. You both ate trying to get past what just happened. Yusei left. He was angry. He’s never felt so much rage in him.

3 weeks went by. Your casts were finally removed. You were ready to leave the house to meet up with Jaden but Yusei showed up. “ I wanted things to cool down…Y/n I’m in love with you. I really am. You didn’t see the rest of it. I pushed them away. I told them you’re my girlfriend…Y/n please believe me…I know what you told me that day..was because you were livid..I love you. I don’t care about your appearance. You’re wonderful. I love using your tummy as a pillow. It’s soft. I love how I feel your thighs when I carry you. I love all of you. How you smile. The way you laugh. It’s cute how you giggle. Your cheeks turn red when you do. I love how your hand feels in mine. Most of all I love how happy you look when you duel on your runner. You both kissed passionately. You felt your heart burst with love. It’s like nothing else mattered in the world. Everything around you was in pause. Just you both in the moment. You loved every second of it. “Mhm princess you’re so wonderful.” He said after you pulled away. “Thanks”you responded pecking his cheek. He held you close not wanting to ever let go. He remembered so many little things that made him happy with you. That made him fall hard. “I love you.” You both said in unison.

Yagi Yusei x ViVi

What kind of Yagi Yusei do you want to become in 2024? I think I definitely want to change my image! Right now I’m really happy to hear people call me pretty and beautiful, but on the other hand when I hear people that go to concerts and see me in person say "He's like AI", or "Does he really exist?!" it feels like my existence is very far away from the fans. WIP Snippet 4 (Ch. 3)

Martha’s eyes wandered to the twins first, then. “Since I know you two tend to stick together, I have a room on the first floor for you two. It’s unlikely to be as big as what you’re used to, but I think it should do nicely. But the bathroom is in the hall, there’s only one per floor.”

Though their expressions couldn’t exactly be called excited, the twins nodded to this, clearly not about to complain about the for their standards unusual bathroom setup.

“As for the lot of you,” Martha then said, pointing at the older members of the group, “I was expecting to be able to put you boys all together in one room, and give Aki her own. Now, with two girls around, we’re going to have to change the setup a bit.”

“One room? For all four of us?” Jack asked incredulously, “Martha, you can’t be serious.”

His foster-mother raised an eyebrow at him, and if that wasn’t already enough to make Jack look a little smaller, her next words certainly were. “Oh? Are the rooms here suddenly not good enough for you anymore?”

While Crow unsuccessfully tried to hide an undignified snort, Jack grew ever so slightly flustered—something only Martha could achieve in this short a time—before aggressively pointing to Bruno, saying, “That’s not—Bruno snores. I’ll wake up from the noise! And waking him up is no use, because he’ll go right back to snoring the second he falls asleep again! Meaning either he catches no sleep because I don’t want him snoring, or I catch no sleep because he won’t stop it!”

Putting her hands on her hips, Martha countered, “Last I recall, Crow used to snore, too, back when you were children. Yet, you somehow still managed to catch some sleep.”

“Yes, because the keywords are used to,” Jack immediately defended himself, “I trained him out of it by kicking him out of bed every time he got too loud.”

“Yeah, thanks for that, by the way,” Crow muttered, throwing his older foster-brother a glare.

“Oh, you’re welcome,” Jack grumbled back.

Martha, meanwhile, shook her head at both of them, in a way that made Aki realise Yusei had to have gotten this from her. “Really now… You’ve gotten a bit picky, haven’t you?”

Stepping forward a bit from where he stood in the middle of the group, Yusei spoke up for the first time, saying, “Not to play devil’s advocate here, but I think stuffing all four of us in the same room might really be a bad idea. If Jack wakes up because of Bruno’s snoring and starts trying to wake him up in turn to get him to stop for a little bit, Crow’s also gonna wake up because of the commotion and will most likely start arguing with Jack about the noise. And I’m such a light sleeper at this point that I’ll probably also get woken up by Bruno’s snoring and have to listen to the entire back and forth…” His tone was slightly apologetic.

“Yeah, not to speak of the fact that Jack’s insufferable when he hasn’t gotten his ‘beauty sleep’,” Crow added, making air quotes at “beauty sleep” with an amount of sarcasm that was nothing short of gleeful.

Martha gave her three boys a critical look, but ultimately sighed before turning to Crow, “And do you lose sleep because of your friend’s snoring, too?”

“As if Crow would wake up for anything quieter than air raid sirens,” Jack muttered.

Random cross duel au headcanons that I felt like spewing:

-They're all multi-lingual in some way. I hc Jack as French and Chazz and Kaiba both know many languages due to being rich kids/business people, and so the others all end up picking up on some of the languages

-Pretty much EVERYONE knows at least basic Arabic. This is because Atem and Yugi (who I hc as half-Egyptian) speak Arabic. Atem and Yugi speak to each other in arabic a lot, and Atem likes to use Arabic nicknames for everyone (especially Yugi). Also if Atem is annoyed he'll switch to Arabic. And if Yugi speaks in Arabic when annoyed, you're screwed. Because of this the others all can speak at least the most basic Arabic, even Yuma and Joey (Joey retains his Brooklyn accent in his arabic and it drives Kaiba insane while Atem just cracks up)

-Anyone under the age of 15 is labelled a child. Astral is the only 'partner/mentor' who is one of the children, and this annoys him a little more than he likes to admit.

-Yuto is the oldest of the children, then Yugo, then Yuri and Yuya, then we get to Astral, and then Yuma and Yuga's group. The fact that he's younger than all the Yu-boys, even Yuya, also annoys Astral, especially when him being younger means he's not listened to.

-Age is power. Especially when it comes to the younger group, because in any situation a yell of 'well, i'm older than you!' immediately leads to said older person being in charge. They've ended up in so many stupid situations because Yuya, Yugo, or even Jaden has pulled the 'I'm the oldest' card, which shuts down anyone younger than them (it drives Astral insane because he's perfectly aware that he's the smartest-and he's only like 3 months younger than Yuya)

-But on the other hand, pulling the 'I'm younger' card works too, because the younger they the more babied they get. Especially if they want something. Yuma takes full advantage of this. Astral can too, he just choses not to because he doesn't like manipulation.

-Everyone has called Yugi 'mom' at least once. Either it's a slip up, sarcasm, or a friendly nickname.

-Yugi is the only person who doesn't get overruled by the "I am older than you" card. Everyone, even Kaiba and Jack, end up listening to him.

-The fact that big strong Yusei is very obedient to Yugi and Yugi orders him around exactly like a parent will never not be funny to the group, especially to the younger ones.

-Everyone has had to share a bed at least once. Even Joey and Kaiba (it was chaotic) and they all share rooms that are CROWED simply because Kaiba never built the mansion to house 15+ people!

-The only person who doesn't share is Kaito, who is even more anti social than Yusaku. He sleeps in a tiny storeroom. By choice. And somehow fit a whole computer set up in there.

-Surprisingly, Kaiba is actually kind of close to the younger group. They remind him of Mokuba. And something about how helpless Yuma is makes him feel the weird urge to protect him.

-Yusei keeps mixing Leo and Yuma up. They're exactly the same. They're also a completely chaotic, idiotic duo who encourage each other to do reckless things. They're also not allowed to be together without Astral.

-Yuya, Yuma, and Jaden are not allowed to be together without Yusei right there and Kaiba within the next few miles.

-Kaiba does a lot of the telling off.

-On mother's day the group gave Yugi gifts which touched Yugi. On father's day they gave Kaiba gifts which embarrassed him but also made him secretly happy

-Kaiba has started a duel school that all of school age attend, middle to high ("as if the last one didn't traumatise a bunch of kids"-Atem)

-Astral is the only one of the kids that doesn't attend. For obvious reasons.

-Mai and Jack have, on more than one occasion, had to pretend to be one of the younger ones' parents.

-Mai never calls herself the mom. She's the cool aunt. And she says Joey is the cousin who does drugs, while Kaiba is the aunt who talk shit about everyone. Kaiba isn't sure what he thinks of being called an 'aunt'

-Astral's closet consists of pieces of everyone's clothes more than his own, even one of Kaiba's shorter jackets (it's still huge on him) and a scarf from Declan (Declan also has a million red scarves and Yuya is starting to find that concerning). He even has a jumper of Kite's (except he stole that to tick Kite off-these two are currently beefing and will be petty with each other)

-Astral and Kite get into too many fights. Waaay too many.

-Actually Kite ends up in a lot of fights. He has a talent for irritating people. His main beef is with Bandit Keith of all people (kite mutters he's like another mutton hair he knows)

-Quite a few people have picked up on Zuzu's fan-hitting habits. Mostly the girls. And Astral, Syrus, and Yusaku

-Yusaku and Skye can transform back and forth from their Playmaker and Blue Angel personas.

-Yugi taught Yusaku how to crochet, so Yusaku can do something other than stare at a computer screen. Yusaku finds it comforting, and likes making little animals with them.

-Yugi, Yusei, Astral, and Yusaku are the 'quiet group'. Sometimes the other boys want to attend something that is waaay too crowded and loud for Astral and Yusaku's liking, and as Yugi isn't a fan of that and Yusei prefers quiet, the four of them end up doing something more calming.

-The girls hang out together in one group. It's a much more organised group than the boys. If they go to the fair, all the girls manage to get to all the places they want and all come home comfortably. As for the boys... at least 2 will go missing, 3 will need to run looking for a toilet, and Kaiba has had calls from them begging for help.

Paradox has left Duel Links, and we learn how Duel Links is affecting the manga characters’ memories AND how crucial Pegasus is to the anime-verse! And Yami Yugi comes dangerously close to noticing the player...

Jaden/Yubel: Lighten up, bro! Things might not look too good, bu we have a secret weapon on our side! Yusei: !! Yami Yugi: That’s right. Because we believe in Duel Monsters while Paradox does not. Jaden: And when you believe, you’ve always got a chance! I activate a Quick-Play Spell! The Flute of Summoning Kuriboh! You’re up, Yugi! Yami Yugi: Right! Go, Kuriboh! Paradox: What!? You avoided my attack!? I will make you pay dearly for that little stunt! Yami Yugi: I’m not so sure you will. When Malefic Divide’s effect vanishes, so will Malefic Stardust Dragon. Paradox: Grr...! Jaden: But not the real Stardust Dragon because due to its effect, it now returns to the field! Yusei: Stardust Dragon...Glad you’re back! Yami Yugi: Now! Jaden: Go, Yusei! Let him have it! Yusei: I activate my trap! Stardust Mirage! If Stardust Dragon is on the field, I can bring back all of our monsters that were destroyed this turn! Paradox: What!? All your monsters!? Yusei: Now for your downfall, Paradox! Jaden: That’s right, Yusei! Yami Yugi: Let’s show Paradox we never back down! Dark Magician! Attack! Jaden: Elemental Hero NEOS! Yusei: Let this be proof that the light will always overcome the dark! Go, Stardust Dragon! Dark Cosmic Wave! Paradox: Nooo! Was everything I believed in actually wrong? Yugi: We’ve never... We’ve never met “them” before, right? Yami Yugi: Correct. Yugi: But when I saw the two, memories of “our other selves in the other world” came flooding in. Yami Yugi: Yes...Their past is not connected to our future. Our “other selves” were the ones who battled with them. Yugi: They said that whether Pegasus was alive or not would split the future in different directions. Yami Yugi: But in our world, Pegasus went missing after Duelist Kingdom. Yugi: So the Pegasus in this world... Yami Yugi: I’m not sure where he’s from. Yugi: Duel Links is a mysterious world. The past, the future, even other dimensions are connected to Duel Links. Could Kaiba really create all this on his own? Yami Yugi: I don’t know. But I do know that this world isn’t evil. Though I also feel we’re following someone’s orders... Yugi: ..........Do you think we’ll see them again? Yami Yugi: We will. We can see them anytime we want. As long as we’re here. And they’re here.
