Revolt of the Akuma
Commissioned by @miner249er
base on the fanfiction “Revolt Of The Akuma”
“I don’t wish to fight you, but I see you believe me to be an akuma. I’m not.
I don’t expect you to believe me but it’s the truth. I am merely the Protector now. As a sign of good faith,”
Marinette, or Protector held out a hand to Fu, one he was reluctant to reach out for.
“Here.”

Too Late: Mylène & Ivan

Summary:  Mylène just wanted a calm afternoon and with a surprise visit from Ivan she thought it would be just that plus cuddles but then they heard the news.
Mylène had lately been in a funk. Well, that was putting it mildly, to be frank she felt numb. At first she had been in a cluster of emotions at the betrayal of someone she considered a friend and role model and at the akumatization of another friend who fell from said friend status due to the betrayer. Then there was the whole disappearance consequent of the akumatization and so many other things that had festered in the background unseen or willfully ignored. In the beginning, just thinking of Marinette sent her into a flurry of guilt-ridden anger and sadness, the feelings had been so strong and she hadn’t had the strength to keep them. She lost control. That was truly how simple it was. Mylène had lost control over herself and her emotions, her despair and fury came out in such a destructive force that it still haunted her to think about. She had tried going to simple therapy groups, but they did nothing and her father and Ivan noticed.
Ivan, her poor Ivan, he beat himself up at first and some days he still did. He had fallen into a depression so deep that Mylène had feared she would lose him, her boyfriend had refused to eat, to shower, to get out of bed, hell there were days he refused to sleep because his night terrors came back. Mylène knew that Ivan had always liked Marinette, not in a romantic way, the boy had confessed he had always seen Marinette as more of a younger sister than anything. The fact he didn’t protect her, the fact he hadn’t been there for her, it had killed him and the guilt had been eating him slowly but surely. It was around that time when both their parents decided maybe it would be best if both teens checked into a mental facility. Mylène knew it was nothing to be ashamed of, her own mother had had to be in one mental facility or another for some of her issues. It had been a great help to her mother before her death. Mylène and her father never blamed the facilities for her mother’s death.
Though it was something she thought about a lot over the years especially when Hawkmoth first made an appearance. She had been thankful that he had never manipulated those in a facility, those like her mother, those who had a hard time with emotions whether that be processing, controlling, or anything else in that area. Mylène always hated the early days of Hawkmoth where she had never been certain if he would target those people so she had constantly been on edge. It wasn’t that she thought the villain cared enough to not manipulate them, it was just that she realized that he was smart enough not to. Even despite the fact that he repeatedly akumatized a baby and a pigeon obsessed man. So it was a big relief when she and probably all of Paris realized he would not go after the mentally ill, that was one of the only bits of peace they could truly hold on to.
She had believed that once Hawkmoth was defeated that Paris would know peace once more. It was a belief that had carried her through most of her days, it was a belief that lit the fire of hope in her, it was a belief that blinded her. Mylène had never noticed the rose-tinted lenses that had been fitted to her eyes that made her more than a little naive to Paris’s terrorist problem. That’s what it was. It wasn’t some big bad villain like in a cartoon. It wasn’t some over-the-top narcissistic Shakespeare antagonist. It was a terrorist. There was no sugar coating what had happened in Paris, not even to those who wished to put it all behind them. Mylène wanted to put it all behind her, she had foolishly thought she would even be able to do so when Hawkmoth was defeated, but then he was actually defeated and nothing was how she expected. It was an ugly thing but Mylène despised that things had not gone the way she had wanted, the way she had believed.
Yes Hawkmoth was defeated, never to terrorize Paris again with his akumas but there was no peace. Things weren’t suddenly better. People were prone to emotional outbursts whether it be randomly crying at something as simple as dropping a cup of coffee, to yelling at someone till you could see a vein popping out all because said somebody accidentally bumped into them, or even the odd people who just burst into laughter because they got a papercut. Unfortunately those were all things Mylène had been witness to and it still shocked her. She wasn’t foolish enough to think that Paris wouldn’t have some kind of damage left over from Hawkmoth but she never thought it would be this bad or to this extent. Plus she had always assumed Ladybug would be there to help them rebuild and heal when it was all said and done.
But Ladybug was gone.
And Mylène fully believed that Marinette had been Ladybug. There were just too many coincidences and honestly it just made a lot of sense. It explained too many things she had overlooked or had ignored like the frequent disappearances during akuma attacks, the tardiness to…well everything, the lack of sleep, and most importantly, most damningly, it explained Marinette’s distrust of Lila Rossi. Ladybug would know who she was best friend’s with. That was just another thing that made everything that much worse. They pushed Ladybug to the breaking point, they pushed their defender over the edge all because they believed the worst of her. Because even in her normal life they held her on a pedestal that they believed she should never have strayed from.
It was unfair and Mylène wished she had realized that sooner. The pedestal had only hurt Marinette and them more than she or anyone could ever imagine. She was dubbed their ‘Everyday Ladybug’ and it just seemed so natural to hold her to those standards. Marinette had always been amazing and kind and loyal, but it was like when they bestowed upon her that ironic title they all expected her to act like it twenty-four seven. Marinette was expected to be unfailingly loyal, she had to put them above everyone else, especially the girl squad. She had to be sympathetic and kind, the bigger person, she could never be selfish or angry over being wronged. She had to be generous and trustworthy. In short, Marinette had to be a lot of things for them and just thinking about it all was enough to make Mylène sick to her stomach.
It was a wonder that Marinette got anything done!
Truly they hadn’t realized everything she had done for them until she was gone, even when she was being isolated she still did favors or class president duties. She could have left them to fend for themselves and quit as their class president but she never did. Even despite all they did to her she never gave up or took the easy way out, she kept fighting. Or at the very least she kept trying, if only they had opened their eyes sooner. She knew it was pointless to wish and to wonder about the what ifs but if Mylène was being honest, it was one of the only things keeping her going. It was one of the things that helped her get out of bed, but what helped the most was her hope that she would see Marinette again. Maybe it was silly to still cling to hope especially with the state Paris was in but it felt like all Mylène had was hope.
So that’s what she would do, she would hope to see her friend once again and maybe they would be able to talk. They didn’t deserve to be forgiven by her, but maybe Marinette would at least hear their apologies. Even if she didn’t, even if all she did was come back and never speak to any of them again that would be fine too. It would be fine because it would mean that Marinette was back home and that she was safe and no longer under the control of the akumas. Or…well, Mylène wanted to believe that The Protector was not actually Marinette because what that akuma did in the name of justice and the name of protecting the people of Paris…it scared her. No other akuma had gone to those lengths to get their revenge or carry out their goal. Sure there were some that were pretty violent, they ended up doing a lot of property damage but they were nothing compared to The Protector.
Mylène hadn’t seen the press coverage of M Agreste and Mlle Sancoeur being brought out of Agreste Manor but she had heard in graphic detail what they looked like and what had happened to them. It was all anyone and everyone had been talking about for so long after Marinette’s disappearance and it was horrifying. The majority of people praised The Protector for what she had done, some said she should have finished the job and of course there were those who feared what the akuma had done. Those who feared her said she had gone too far and if Mylène was honest she was one of those few. It scared her to think that her former friend was capable of putting people in the hospital. She knew it was because of the akuma but the nightmares she had, it was just Marinette that did it. No akuma. Just her.
“Mylène, My Dear, Ivan is here.” Mylène’s father announced softly.
“Oh. Thank you for letting him in Papa.” She hadn’t even known Ivan was coming over, but usually he called or texted before coming over. With a glance at her phone she noticed he had actually called her and texted. Oh well she felt foolish, she had been so lost in her thoughts she hadn’t even heard her phone ring or chime. With a plan to apologize, Mylène pushed herself off her bed and made her way to the living room where she and Ivan usually hung out when her dad had somewhere to be. Apparently he had an audition and she really hoped he would get the part, he had been having a bit of bad luck when it came to auditions lately.
“Hey Ivan, I’m so sorry I missed your call.”
“It’s okay Mylène, I figured you must have been preoccupied but Mom baked a pie and I figured you would like some.” Ivan said with a sheepish smile as he held up a container. It was the first thing to make Mylène smile that day.
“That’s so sweet of you Ivan, thank you so much.” She said as she made her way into the kitchen to grab some plates and forks. It amused her when Ivan followed her to help out, he was always doing little things like that.
“You two have fun. Mylène I’ll be back home in two hours, if the auditions go longer than that I will phone you. Ivan, look after her for me will you?” Mylène’s father asked as he shoved on his hat and coat in the doorway.
“Of course M Haprele.” Ivan responded with a short nod. The serious look on his face made Mylène blush.
“I love you Mylène! I left money on the counter if you want to order a pizza.” Mylène’s father said before he kissed the top of her head and ran out the door, Mylène barely had enough time to return his ‘I love you.’
“Well, how about we eat in the living room and watch some TV? We can stream that anime you were talking about last week.” Mylène suggested as she placed one of the slices of pie on one plate and another on the second plate while Ivan grabbed some cups and filled them with water.
“Sounds good.” Ivan agreed as they carried everything into the living room and set it down on the coffee table.
Once they were settled, Ivan with his one blanket that Mylène had bought him for Christmas that he left at her house for specifically when they hung out, and Mylène in her nest of blankets, Ivan picked up the remote and turned on the TV. Neither were surprised when the channel they saw was the news, Mylène’s dad had been watching the news a lot nowadays, it was almost all he consumed besides his audition materials. Mylène made a small noise that Ivan hummed back to as he made his way to flip through the sources on the TV before he stopped and stared hard at the screen. Mylène didn’t know what he was so caught up by until she heard the voice of Nadja Chamack.
“Don’t be bemused, it’s just the news. Good evening Paris. Or it would have been a good evening if I did not have the… misfortune to report the gruesome murder of one of Collège Françoise Dupont’s own professors.” Nadja’s voice cut through the heavy silence that had filled Mylène’s living room as she and Ivan stared wide-eyed at the screen. Mylène’s heart was beating in her ears, in her fingers, in her chest, everywhere. She hoped beyond hope that the sudden drop of her stomach, the sudden sinking feeling she felt wasn’t what she thought it was.
“Madame Caline Bustier nee Bisset was found in her home in the eleventh arrondissement by her sister Delphine Bisset. Miss Bisset was heard to have said that if she had not found the body in her sister’s home, she would not have been able to positively identify it. And who is responsible for such a horrific crime?” Mylène felt sick. Her teacher, her favorite teacher, was dead. Murdered. Who would do such a thing? She was vaguely aware of the fact that she was crying but she did feel when Ivan held her. He was shaking.
“It is reported that on the walls of the home, written in the victim’s…blood was as follows, ‘She was wrong. She committed a crime. She was a stain on The Protector’s pure cloth. We The Followers have righted this wrong. We got justice.’” Nadja’s voice shook but here and there but Mylène felt like the whole world was shaking in tandem. The Followers. It had been The Followers. One of the most radical groups that had formed after Marinette had disappeared. They were large in number though no one really knew the actual number and that frightened them, yet the media and the law enforcements never made a statement about their growing numbers. Mylène knew why, it was because of fear, they didn’t want to incite panic and fear once more in the people of Paris.
What was not to fear though? The Followers broke into people’s houses if they thought they had a connection to “Her” and would ransack it for anything she had made. Mylène didn’t even want to know what they did with the stuff, they probably created some weird creepy shrine. Ivan and the rest of Kitty Section besides Luka, had their Kitty Section costumes stolen.  Luka had been smart enough to put his in storage somewhere, he never did tell them where he put it, but it wasn’t like they cared at the time. They had taken the gifts Marinette had made for them for granted, they didn’t treat them preciously and they were gone much like their former friend.
“You heard that right, Paris. The infamous radical group who call themselves The Followers has claimed responsibility for the heinous crime against Caline Bustier. Though the police are not taking questions at the time nor making an official statement there were some who expressed their disgust at the utter disregard of human life.” Madame Chamack’s voice rang through Mylène’s living room, it filled every corner, every nook and cranny, and it clogged Mylène’s very ears.
“One such officer who will remain anonymous has said that it was one of, if not the, most gruesome murder they have ever seen. Or that our police department has ever seen to date. Now it’s not confirmed but…it is highly speculated that The-The Followers had planned to move Madame Bustier’s body to a more…public area, in order to put it on display. Again, this has not been confirmed but, we can only speculate why they would want to do such an evil act.” It was clear that Madame Chamack was shaken by what she was reporting, she was pale and kept having to pause and swallow, even take some sips of water before she could continue her report, but Mylène really wished she would just stop. She didn’t want to hear anymore and yet she couldn’t bring herself to turn off the TV or change the channel even though she had the remote in a death grip.
She could feel Ivan trying to pry the remote out of her hands gently but she felt like she couldn’t relax one bit, not even her grip. She was as tightly wound as a wind-up toy that was about to have the key released. “Mylène…” Ivan pleaded softly.
“Though they are not yet giving out a statement, the police have told us to warn everyone to stay vigilant and stay safe. There has been talk from a source in the Mayor’s office that the old Akuma Curfew might be reinstated until those who are responsible for this immoral act are detained and persecuted. Before we break I would just like to say, we persevered through Hawkmoth’s reign, we can persevere through these trying times. For ourselves. For each other. And for our former hero Ladybug. We’ll be right back so stay tuned, Paris.” With those parting words the commercial break stabbed through the already fragile atmosphere that surrounded Mylène and Ivan
The two held each other as they cried as the remote fell to the ground and lay forgotten. The people of Paris were once more in a state of fear.

secret kisses with Akuma Revolvers AU
After yet another failed mission, Chloé found herself laying on Alix's old bed again.
She couldn't help but hug the pillow as she remembered all the fun times they had.
~~Flashback~~
Chloé quickly runs into a then brunette Alix's room and closes the door quietly.
Despite how shocked Alix was at Chloé's boldness, she made sure to whisper.
"What are you doing here?! It's time for bed!"
"I know. I'm just here to give you your goodnight kiss~"
Chloé then walks over to Alix and gently kisses her on the lips.
The two quickly pull away from each other when knocks on the door are heard.
"Alixandra, have you seen Chloé anywhere?"
"No, Ms. Nathalie. I haven't seen her."
Once the sound of Nathalie's footsteps fade, Chloé giggles before Alix lightly pushes her in the arm.
"You brat! We both could've gotten in trouble..."
"You love the danger~"
~Flash Forward~
Chloé didn't notice she was crying until she noticed tears on the pillow.
"Alix... please come home."

Ms. Sans-Culotte and the obvious French Revolution symbolism
This episode is a field day for me, so I'll need to analyse it bit by bit. Let's first start with the obvious and less obvious French Revolution references in this episode. This will be especially obvious for French viewers, but I thought that it may be interesting for others.
Sans-culotte
I know that the term sounds funny to most, but sans-culottes are a key figure in the French history. Those were the commoners who revolted to the King and aristocracy, and undertook the French Revolution of 1789. As Mademoiselle Bustier explains in the beginning of the episode, the sans-culottes were called so because:
Contrary to rich aristocrats, they would wear simple pants.
So when Mlle. Bustier is akumatised, we see the following character design:
Tumblr media
THE PANTS. Very obviously the pants. But there are more obvious symbols in this character design.
Marianne
Marianne is the national personification of the French Republic. She is very much synonymous with the free and republican spirit of France. Yes, that's also the name of Master Fu's girlfriend, and for good reason (she was a Résistance fighter during the German occupation of France!).
Tumblr media
By the way this exact painting is in the background in the few seconds after Mlle. Bustier is akumatised:
Tumblr media
Marianne is usually depicted with the following symbols:
the Phrygian cap
Greco-Roman clothes
Partial nudity
We see these signs in Mlle. Sans Culotte's character design.
Mlle. Sans Culotte's helmet has the unique shape of the Phrygian cap.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Mlle. Sans Culotte is dressed in a Greco-Roman armour. The usual depiction of Marianne is in flowy Greco-Roman clothes, but the helmet and armour really add to that fighter spirit of Mlle. Sans Culotte. Also, even though rarer, there are some depictions of Marianne with a Greco-Roman armour.
Tumblr media
3. Partial nudity. Obviously they couldn't actually show that on a kids show. However, I think that the character design does hint to a type of nudity. The fact that the white of the French flag covers all of Mlle. Bustier's face and body make it seem like it is not actually her clothes but her skin. And other than the golden armour she wears, she has no other clothes on her.
The Guillotine
Mlle. Sans Culotte's weapon of choice is a freaking guillotine knife. This was a device used by the French revolutionaries to behead their opponents. To this day, it is associated with the violence of the French revolution.
Tumblr media
Now to more implicit references:
Ça ira
When Mlle. Sans Culotte hits people, they turn into balloons that chant:
Ça ira, ça ira, ça ira!
Which is a song sang by the sans-culottes during the French Revolution (thanks to @2manyfandoms2count for helping out with this one!)
Other quotes and remarks
There are various quotes throughout the episode with a revolutionary lexicon.
Monarch: The power of Jubilation will help you show the people their dream of freedom, and as such gain partisans/supporters to your cause.
Monarch: To arms, citizens! Form batallions!
This one is especially striking for me, because it is very explicit call to violence (frequently used in French revolutionary history too).
Mlle. Sans Culotte: No one stops the revolution. Long live the revolution!
She quite literally says Vive la révolution. Seriously, it doesn't get any more obvious than that.
Tumblr media
She literally runs head-first into a group of policemen, paralleling the Storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789. And literally afterwards Chat Noir mentions this same event:
Chat Noir: It is not the 14th of July, my Lady. Do you think that this akuma victim wants to celebrate the Bastille Day early?
And later on:
Mlle. Sans Culotte: Ladybug, Chat Noir! Help the sans-culottes (plural!) to liberate Paris from its aristocratic Mayor!
Ladybug: Terror is not the solution!
Chat Noir: To get your voice heard there are the elections!
Ok, the word "terror" here is important. I had previously mentioned in my post on Felix's anarchist revolution that the French Revolution was followed by a period of violence where all those against the revolution were murdered. The name of the period is literally the Reign of Terror. We see that Ladybug's words is a reference to that.
Ladybug: (after receiving her lucky charm) Revolution, sans-culotte, and the Mayor of Paris who acts like the King?
The parallel is there. They're not even trying to be subtle. This is the retelling of the French Revolution.
Except that it doesn't turn out like the French Revolution. In the end, Mr. Bourgeois willingly steps down, Mlle. Sans Culotte rejects Monarch's powers (as in, she drops her weapons), so there is no revolution and no bloody reign of terror.
But still, the power dynamics end up shifting tremendously in the Miraculous Paris. How and why? I'll make a post specifically analysing this. Stay tuned for part two!
(Also, I have likely forgotten or omitted some other symbols, feel free to add them to the comments - if there are enough, I can make an addition to the post :))

HESPERIA/BETTERFLY kamikotized heroes Headcanons PART 1
There will be a bunch of these, but I will most likely only do 2 heroes per post.
Let’s face it; no matter what universe, Gabriel and Adrien are cut from the same cloth, therefore you should be prepared for puns.
The following heroes are NOT in chronological order of appearance in the timeline, but I will do my best to give you a rough idea of when they show up.
Some Heroes will have more detail than others.
Mr. Banana becomes…. *drumroll please*
Banana Punch!
(Or in french, Pain Banane… Ok, hear me out, in French ‘pain aux bananes’ is banana bread, however, the word ‘pain’ is ALSO slang for ‘punch’.)
Mr. Banana himself is a ridiculous mascot character, with ‘banana’ being a pun in itself for having a big smile, and his catchphrase of “stay peachy” a translation of the french pun of positivity, so naturally it only makes sense that his kamikotized hero form is that of a smiling loaf of banana bread wearing a martial arts head-band, and boxing gloves to punch evil-doers trying to rob some old woman when there are no enforcers nearby.
Gabriel isn’t proud of it. But his power of Transmission gifts abilities that are best suited to the person’s emotions in that situation.
This Hero was a one-off that showed up before Shadybug and ClawNoir were introduced, and since only the old lady and her would-be robbers were witnesses, the act of heroism was swept under the rug for a long time because when Enforcers DID finally show up they just assumed the old lady was having a senior moment, and the two burly men had enough pride left NOT to confess they were bruised up by a loaf of banana bread, and instead claimed they were assaulted by some 6’9”, 230lb steroid fueled vigilante.
It took Alya FOREVER to connect the dots on this one, finally tracking down the old woman who was nearly robbed- because of course she would want to try to investigate vigilantes and see if they are tied to any conspiracies concerning a revolt against enforcers or an uprising against The Supreme….but even THIS was too far-fetched for her.
A little more digging led to the weirdest interview she has ever had. (There’s just something unsettling about those empty, soulless, banana eyes… *shiver*) But if you have a better explanation for how a scrawny dude in a banana costume can take on two brutes twice his size and walk away unbruised that DOESN’T involve magic, Alya would LOVE to hear it.
(Think about it, in S4, Shadowmoth had to search specifically for negative emotions that revolved around taking risks, this means he can not just assign any random power he wants to anyone having a bad day- the power has to match their mood and desire to change the situation that put them in that mood. That is one of the limitations of the power of the Butterfly Brooch.)
Funfact: “Akuma” roughly translates to ‘demon shadow’, therefore “kamiko” would most likely be ‘blessed child’, since “kami” is god/divine/blessed and the affix “ko” is ‘child’.
Betterfly probably sees his butterflies as little children, carrying the light of hope on their wings to those who are deserving of the burden of power for the greater good.
Théo Barbot becomes….
Monumenteur!
(A combination of monument and conservateur aka preservationist)
Remember, in this Universe, Paris is “The City of Progress”.
And Progress does NOT involve wasting money to maintain antiquated buildings and monuments from a bygone era.
Such prime real estate would be better used for useful things; factories, banks, shopping malls, corporate buildings, apartment buildings, etc.
But that doesn’t mean one can just go about demolishing historic architecture after selling to the highest bidder. (Not unless you want a riot).  No, no, there must be compromise!
Nothing lasts forever, everything must go when it’s time has come; this is nature’s law.
Economics and finances must support modern infrastructure to maintain the progress of society, not dwell in the past.
As such, there are no groups that specialize in preserving and maintaining historical buildings and monuments.  Old things are left as is until they have worn out their usefulness. Without specialized upkeep as well as preventative measures, these structures naturally decay and fall apart over time.   Once a building/monument has reached a point where it is considered structurally unsound (it could fall down and crush someone) it is then legally condemned for demolition, afterwards the location will be put up for sale and something new will be built in it’s place.
This means that in the last few decades, many of the beautiful architecture that Paris is famous for has been lost, but there are still some left.
For an artist, like Theo, it is painful to simply watch as these gorgeous pieces of history decompose to rubble in indifference.  He dreams of a beautiful Paris that celebrates it’s rich culture and shares it’s history for many generations to come!
But what can he, a teenager, do? No one will invest money to preserve buildings past their prime. Everyone wants something new and more industrial. They are looking towards the future while turning their backs on the past.
If only he had the ability to maintain these monuments himself! Then more people could appreciate the beauty of historic architecture and perhaps the aesthetic of a better restored monument would be pleasing enough to convince others that some history is worth preserving!
     Hesperia/Betterfly agrees.
Many of the monuments in Paris were created pre-WW1, with thoughts like hope, love, dreamers, and the enduring spirit in mind. These are not just great works of art- they are symbols of man’s determination to make the world a better place!
As Monumenteur, Theo becomes a 7 foot tall living bronze statue dressed in French Revolution attire. Equipped with all his sculpting tools and possessing superhuman strength, dexterity, and stamina, Monumenteur is able bound across the rooftops of Paris at night to visit each Historic building/monument, and work his artistry to repair damage and carefully restore architecture, like magic.
Suddenly, monuments that were literally 24 hours away from being declared “condemned” look brand new???  People are talking!  Opinions are divided; obviously the older generations who were born pre- WW2 feel nostalgic, and of course other generations can appreciate NOT living in a city interspersed with decaying ruins… but the biggest concern is, of course, “That better not be MY tax-money they are spending on this little art project!”  Appreciating art is one thing, but paying out the nose to appreciate it is another!
Let’s face it, the Arc de Triomphe is lovely, but it ain’t putting dinner on the table, now is it?  (Just like in America, the Grand Canyon is a tourist attraction that generates some money for the state of Arizona, but there are many more things that could be done with that land that would be bigger bread winners if people didn’t care about history or preserving nature.)
There is also the question of “How?” Surely such a big renovation project would make a lot of noise, and take a substantial amount of time… how could such a big undertaking go unnoticed?
The Supreme does NOT like it when people notice things.
The rich don’t like it when their plans for new construction are delayed indefinitely.
Shadybug and Claw Noir take it upon themselves to go on a little moonlight stroll to catch Monumenteur in the act.
Since this “hero” is big, muscled, and made of metal, it is a perfect chance for them to REALLY let loose and vent out some stress.
They are BRUTAL.
Having superpowers is literally the only thing that kept Theo alive.
Not once did Shadybug or Claw Noir stop to consider “hey, this is an actual person we are dealing with.”  They only cared about beating the snot out of him, trying to taunt the Butterfly man out of hiding by threatening to destroy the kamikotized object and turning Monumenteur into scrap metal in the process.
The fight also leads to some visible damage to the buildings/monuments that Monumenteur has been painstakingly working to restore.
Gabriel is not some coward who would let two gang up against one while he sits on the sidelines, and of course comes to Monumenteur’s rescue just as his object is discovered and he is rendered helpless to a swift pummeling before being tossed off the side of the Palais Garnier.
          They narrowly manage to escape.
Theo is badly hurt, broken bones, hematomas, a concussion, and the damage to his hands ensures he will never sculpt again.
Gabriel’s guilt is immense and he is stuck with a deep wave of self-loathing; How DARE he put a CHILD in such danger?! It is un-acceptable!  This young boy has been robbed of his future for the sake of a battle, the stakes of which, he can not truly fathom.
This can not, WILL NOT happen again!
Wars should be handled by adults, and children should be allowed to cherish their innocence!
From then on, Betterfly vows to never burden powers to a minor again (unless it’s something like, a little kid is trapped in a burning building and giving them 5 minutes of super-powers is the only thing that will get them out alive because Fire Suppressors will not make it in time).
Later on, Alya will have to metaphorically move mountains to convince Betterfly to take her on as an ally and entrust her with powers to help him fight for the greater good. (Much like how in S3, “Feast”, Master Fu was convinced it was better to take back the cat and ladybug miraculous, rather than risk Marinette and Adrien falling victim to the Sentimonster. His fear of being the cause for their destruction as well prevented him from giving them a chance to prove they could overcome anything).
As for Theo, being crippled makes it impossible to have so many part-time jobs, but Gabriel plans to do right by that boy and offers him a part-time job as a gopher-assistant at the Gabriel brand. (It’s mostly just busy-work, but it has the name ‘Gabriel’ attached to it so it carries a small weight of respect that will look great on Theo’s resume. One day, after years of recovery and physical therapy, Theo will obviously want to pursue something more concrete, and this experience will be a rather cushy stepping stone on his career path.)
Theo has no clue as to why THE Gabriel Agreste would offer him, a kid who hasn’t even enrolled in University yet, a job… All Mr. Agreste said was something about recognizing hidden potential when Theo entered his Derby Hat contest.
As for the property damage; No, Shadybug did not cast her miraculous “cure”.  This was strategic.
The damage is VERY noticeable, but in a way that please The Supreme.
Soon the news are talking about how all the previous restoration was nothing more than a publicity stunt by radical youths, and the so called “repairs” were nothing more than cheap, hastily thrown together facades…. A cosmetic bandaid that was all flair but no substance, thus explaining how it was done so quickly and why it fell apart just as fast.
There is even speculation that it was a financial ploy; a delay tactic to halt the sale of the land the condemned buildings are on by rival companies who weren’t pleased knowing they would be outbid.
The public soon grows bored and the secret of magic is preserved yet again.
However, this fight causes the dark, painful black veins to spread to Marinette’s hands, and as a result, she starts wearing fishnet gloves. (They are more practical weather wise and less suspicious than full gloves, and the lace makes the veins blend in seamlessly.)
Adrien has been getting by with make-up and a “Don’t touch me” attitude, that makes sense for a surly teen but breaks his father’s heart.

yeah yeah all of his outfits are atrocious but what's truly embarassing is the things he creates INTENTIONALLY for akuma victims. gabe. honey. you don't have the restrictions of things like "reality" anymore, you're using magic, and you use it for that??
he's terrorizing paris alright. partly with brainwashed citizens, but majority with their revolting outfits. at least they're... sometimes creative??
(disclaimer: i do actually like some of them, but that just means i have embarassing taste)

S/h/n - superhero name
Y/n had the dragon miraculous
Cat noir x female!reader
-
They seemed to be chatting and cat noir said something funny making S/h/n giggle. Lady bug couldn't help but feel jealous at how close they have become since s/h/n just got here. 'Cat noir is supposed to be obsessed with me!' She thought in her head.
Ladybug landed on the roof.
"Hey guys." She said, a hint of jealousy in her tone, going unnoticed by the other two superhero's.
"Hey buggaboo." Cat noir greeted her with a smirk.
"Hi." S/h/n said with a small smile.
"As I was saying, the copy cat was like, 'the cats meow' and I was like 'I would never say that'." He continued his story, S/h/n giggled again, staring up at the tall teen lovingly with her big doe e/c orbs.
She had to admit she had developed a small crush on cat noir, in her opinion he was very fine and attractive, who wouldn't like him.
Ladybug.
"Guys get back to patrol, enough playing games." Ladybug said with a stern tone.
"Okay." S/h/n sighed looking down.
"See, look at what you did, you makes her sad." Cat noir scolded.
"You guys have to learn to stop being so childish." Ladybug said.
"Childish?" S/h/n mumbled as she looked up at ladybug.
S/h/n was a very sensitive person, she was a year younger then both of the superheroes and was new to the job so this was all new to her, the pressure, the powers, the people, the akumas.
It was just so much so stuff and ladybug was ring hard on her, she didn't even do anything.
They suddenly heard loud a loud scream.
Ahhhh!
The three superhero's turned towards the sound.
"Woah what is that?" S/h/n asked softly.
As if cue the akumitized introduced itself.
"Attention citizens of Paris! My name is Dark Cupid!" The villain announced, everyone started panicking and running around screaming.
"Dark Cupid." S/h/n scoffed out.
"Not again." Ladybug muttered.
"LOVE IS BAD! HATE IS GOOD!" Dark Cupid said as he flew around shooting people with hate arrows.
"Here we go again." Cat noir said as he got out his metal stick.
Ladybug pulled out her yo-yo and s/h/n pulled out her sword.
"Kim stop!" Ladybug said as she stopped him from shooting another arrow.
"I'm not Kim I'm dark Cupid! I'll never stop! If I can't have love then no one can!." Dark Cupid said.
"I get that Chloe burned you but you don't have to take it out on everyone else." Ladybug yelled.
"Oh yes I do! I won't stop till everyone's heart is crushed! Say adios to your loved ones." He said getting ready to shoot another arrow.
S/h/n readied her sword and cut the arrow before it could hit her.
Dark Cupid shot arrows at that the three super heroes, they dodged them.
They got to a point where they lost dark Cupid but  s/h/n lost her balance and almost fell off the roof.
"Falling for me already?" Cat noir said as he caught her.
"Not really." S/h/n said as she blushed at how close they were.
"Guys focus!" Ladybug said sternly.
"Relax. Dark Cupid isn't even here." Cat noir said.
S/h/n named looked behind cat noir and saw dark Cupid.
"LOOK OUT!" She shouted, turning both her and cat noir, making the arrow hit her instead of cat noir.
"Le gasp- S/h/n!" Cat noir said, placing a hand on her shoulder
S/h/n shoved his hand off, her lips turning black.
"Don't touch me you stupid cat!" She spat hatefully, cat noir gave her a hurt look.
"Cat noir! She's been hit by the arrow!" Ladybug stated the obvious.
S/h/n jumped to the next roof and was met with dark Cupid.
"I can help you crush ladybug and cat noir but you have to get their miraculouss in return." Dark Cupid said.
"No...problem." She said as she shook his hand.
-
Cat noir and ladybug were helping Chloe escape. dark Cupid chased after Chloe and S/h/n landed in front of cat noir and ladybug.
"Well well, ladybug and cat noir." S/h/n said in condescending tone, pointing her sword at them.
"We don't want to fight you, s/h/n!" Ladybug said.
"Ugh that friendliness is so revolting you are definitely not my friend!" She spat.
Ladybug spun her yoyo and cat noir put his stick across.
She swung her sword at them and they jumped up, going onto the roof once again, jumping from building to building.
"Why're you so full of hate s/h/n?" Cat noir asked as they stopped and ladybug stopped s/h/n from attacking them with her sword.
"Because hate conquers all!" She said.
"I hate to break it to you! But hate doesn't conquer all love does." Cat noir said making the girl roll her eyes.
"You're just buying time." She said.
"Fight!" She demanded.
"I'll do better than that." Cat noir walking towards her.
"Huh?" She said.
"Come on little dragon just a peck." He said getting closer to her while she gave him a disgusted look.
He leaned in and she moved away onto a different part of the roof.
"Get back you savage!" She said jumping away and he and ladybug chased her.
-
Ladybug and cat noir soon caught up with her and ladybug grabbed her leg with he yo-yo and tied her to a pole.
S/h/n named started squirming, desperate to get free.
"Don't worry I'm sure you'll enjoy." Cat noir said as ladybug held her in place and cat noir leaned in to kiss but her kept moving her head away.
He finally held her head in place and leaned in but an arrow came in between them and ladybug  let go of s/h/n.
S/h/n and dark Cupid went by the fountain.
"You two are no match for us, bug eyes and pussy cat." She said.
"Fire dragon!" She said, activating her power.
"I often wondered what would happen if I used my powers in someone." She said as fire came out her hands her e/c orbs glowed an ember yellow.
"Lucky charm!" Ladybug yelled and a candy apple landed in her hand.
" A candy apple? What am I supposed to do with this? Think ladybug." She said as she looked around, once she got her plan in order she told cat noir and gave him the candy apple.
"I've got a gift for you." Cat noir said and held up the candy covered apple.
The two villains started to attack the two superheroes.
S/h/n almost hit cat noir with her fireballs but he dodged them.
He grabbed her by her long hair and pulled her down to the grown, causing to let out a yell.
He jumped up and throw the candy apple at dark Cupid, causing him to get sticky.
" looks like you got yourself in a sticky situation." Ladybug said.
He tried to shoot another arrow but his hands were to sticky.
"Ladybug!" He yelled.
"And now for the little dragon!" Cat noir said, s/h/n chased after him with flames in her hands.
She ended up on top of him ready to strike him with her flamed hand.
"S/h/n his miraculous." Dark Cupid said.
"Of course." She said and began to reach for his ring.
"Finally I'll find out who you really are cat noir." She said, the flames on her hands going away and she grabbed his hand about to remove his ring.
"Your little secret will be outta the bag." She said.
Cat noirs hand shot out and grabbed her by the neck, pulling her down into a kiss.
Her eyes widen for a second before she finally melted into the kiss.
After he pulled away s/h/n went back to normal.
"Huh? What am I doing here?" She said as looked around in confusion, getting up.
Ladybug came out of nowhere and picked cat noir up and threw him towards dark Cupid.
"The quiver pin now!" Ladybug said.
"Grab it!" Ladybug said.
He grabbed it and threw to ladybug bug and dropped it and stepped on it.
-
"Bye bye little butterfly." Ladybug said and threw the candy apple up and everything went back to normal.
"Miraculous ladybug!" She yelled.
"Pound it." Lady bug and cat noir said, fist bumping.
Ladybugs earrings were beeping and she left.
"Well, see you later cat noir." She said as she was about to leave but her stopped her.
"Wait do you...remember anything?" He asked her hopefully.
"No...everything is just a blur." She said
"Let me rejog your memory for you." He said, grabbing her hand pulling her towards him, kissing his gently, cupping her cheek with his hand.
After some seconds they both pulled away, breathless.
"I've been wanting to do that for a while."cat noir said, s/h/n blushed.
He was about to lean in again but both of their miraculous beeped.
"Gotta go, I'll see you around." He said.
"Y-yeah." They both went their separate ways...
The end.

Dunno, Tomoe didn't revolt to Gabriel when he akumatized her again in Protection, so I guess she's fine with it as long as the Akuma doesn't go into her Amok object.
Yeah I think that's probably the case. So long as Kagami isn't clearly in imminent danger of death, she seems to be fine with it.

Hawkmoth: imagine if an akuma tried revolting against you and became its own villain
Also I dear you to wear a dress
Hawkmoth: "As long as I am in range of the Akuma, I can recall their powers. So even if they manage to get away, it's only a matter of time."
Hawkmoth: "As for your dare, I am unfortunately stuck here and unable to change outfits. Not that any dresses I have on hand would fit me. Also they are just incredibly impractical for fighting."
He side-eyes Mayura as he says this.
Mayura: "Dresses are only impractical if you forget to put on shorts underneath."

This is a bit of something that got in my way while I was working on the ML ballet AU. Turns out I still have a grain or two of Lila salt in me. Quickspinner’s Out of Your League (from the All That Remains collection) needs the credit for a bit of backstory that I had in mind here. And yes, this is Lukanette. Always.
Lila wasn’t above using her mother’s sense of guilt to her own advantage. She also had no problem with feeding that guilt. A few sighs and teary comments when her mother (yet again) had to cancel on Lila to deal with something at the embassy, or a subtle reminder about all the times Lila had been left on her own in their apartment was all grist to the mill, and Lila had to admit that it had paid off in a big way this time.
Her mother had pulled every string and favour at her disposal for Lila’s birthday party, and Jagged Stone himself was going to be putting in an appearance. Lila was jubilant.
She watched the ballroom at the embassy – how her mother had managed that one Lila didn’t know, and honestly didn’t care – filling up with her classmates and everyone she’d ever met, and she allowed herself a satisfied smile.
Of course, Marinette wasn’t there. Lila had had an enjoyable month of it, tormenting the goody-two-shoes over it, and the beautiful part was that no one had even caught a hint of what she was really doing. She hadn’t been so crass as to leave Marinette out of the party invitations, oh no! She had handed the girl a gilt-edged invite with her most charming, and insincere, smile as she made a point of telling Marinette how much she hoped that Marinette would be there. Their classmates had eaten it up with a spoon, falling all over Lila to tell her how generous and forgiving she was, given the way Marinette had been so hostile to her, and all the while Lila had smiled sweetly and watched Marinette twist in the trap.
If Marinette begged off the party, she was the bad guy for refusing Lila’s olive branch. If Marinette came, then Lila won, and she would get to watch Marinette swallow her pride and suffer all night, or crack and create drama. Either way, it was all good, and Lila had had fun making little digs and comments about the party in front of Marinette for the weeks leading up to it.
As Lila accepted everyone’s tributes and praise, greeting each new arrival with becoming diffidence and subtly trying to gauge the worth of each gift that they piled on the table at the entrance, she came to the conclusion that Marinette had decided not to put in an appearance. Her smile grew wider.
“Lila!” Alya had arrived, and swept her into a hug, surveying the ballroom, and the tables of food, with an impressed eye. Behind her, Nino grinned and bobbed his head in greeting. “Amazing party, girl. And I can’t believe you got Jagged Stone to come!”
Lila gave her a modest smile. “It’s all about who you know, and Jagged was more than happy to come when he heard it was for my birthday.” She looked around as if searching for something, and made her eyes wide and hopeful. “Did… did Marinette come with you?”
Alya shifted uncomfortably. “Er… Marinette couldn’t make it. But she asked me to wish you a happy birthday.”
Oh, no, she didn’t, Lila thought, suppressing the smirk that pulled at the corners of her mouth. Alya, you liar.
She forced her face into a sorrowful pout with just the right touch of hurt. “It’s okay. It would have been nice if we could put aside whatever this grudge is that Marinette has against me just for once, but I guess not…”
Alya and Nino smiled awkwardly. And then her mother touched her arm, a harried expression on her face as she drew Lila away out of earshot for a moment.
“Lila, sweetheart, there’s some bad news,” her mother said anxiously, and Lila felt her smile slip a little. “We’ve just had word that Jagged Stone had to cancel at the last minute.”
“What do you mean, Jagged Stone cancelled?” Lila almost shrieked. A few heads turned towards them, and Lila brought herself back under control before they could overhear. “Mama, you need to fix this. Get him back!”
“Sweetheart, I can’t. His agent said it was unavoidable, and they’re paying the late cancellation fine in the contract. At this late notice I can’t get anyone else to come instead.”
Lila let her eyes fill with tears – she’d practised tearing up in front of her mirror, but in this case the tears were very real.
“Mama,” she insisted, and the harried lines on her mother’s face deepened.
“You’ll still have a lovely party,” her mother said weakly. “The food is wonderful, and you still have the DJ for entertainment.”
“But I told everyone that Jagged Stone was coming!”
“I’m so sorry, darling.” Her head turned towards the doorway, where an aide was waving a phone at her. “I have to go take this call.”
The moment that her mother had turned away, Lila’s mouth pinched with anger and frustration, and she barely stopped herself from stamping her foot.
“Hey girl, is everything okay?”
She heard Alya’s voice call out to her, and she smoothed out her face, spinning around with artificial enthusiasm. Several of their classmates were clustered behind Alya, and she turned a smile on them as well.
“So,” Alya continued, “we’re all really excited! When’s Jagged getting here?”
Lila gave a moue of only slightly exaggerated disappointment.
“Can you believe it?” she sighed, one hand fluttering up to her chest. “Jagged had to cancel. It was last minute, and I’m so worried it’s because that awful throat condition of his has flared up again.” Her hand went to her mouth. “Oh no! You can’t tell anyone about it, no one is supposed to know, but that was why he couldn’t do the zoom call with the class last month like he’d promised.”
There was a ripple of sympathy and concern through her classmates, but then Alix made a sceptical noise at the back of the group.
“Throat condition? But you said it was sunspot interference with the internet connection.”
“No, I was trying to keep his throat problems secret-“
“It was Clara Nightingale you said had a serious throat condition, and that was why she had to cancel helping out with the charity auction like she’d told you,” Alix interrupted.
“No, that was Jagged-“
“If recall accurately,” Max spoke up, “and I do, Clara Nightingale had the throat condition. I could have Markov replay the conversation,” he added helpfully, and Lila spun around in dismay.
“No, that’s not-“
“There have been a lot of cancellations,” Alix said in growing suspicion. Lila could see the faces around her registering confusion, and there was a growing murmur as her classmates tallied things up. She had to stop this before they came to the realisation that…
“What about that interview you promised me with Ladybug?” Alya was asking her, her voice sharp. “The one that got cancelled because of an akuma, except I could never find anything about that akuma, and you never rescheduled. And that meeting that Nino was supposed to have with that director?”
Nino wasn’t saying anything, his face hidden by his cap as he stared at the floor. The muttering was growing louder now as more people were working things out and the number of promises mounted up.
“Oh my god,” Juleka mumbled behind the fall of her streaked black and purple hair. “He was right.”
“Who?” Rose asked, but Alix was talking again before Juleka could answer.
“You didn’t need to fib about Jagged Stone being here to get us to come to your party, Lila,” Alix said as the expressions turned to disgust and disbelief.
“But I didn’t!” Lila protested, and for once she had been telling the truth. “I swear, Jagged really was coming. You have to believe me!”
“I said it was a bit hinky that Jagged Stone would have agreed to play a teenage party like this,” Alix told the group around her.
“I’m not lying!” Lila insisted, her voice growing shrill as the expressions turned to disgust and disbelief. “He did a signing for Chloe.”
“Yeah, well, that’s Chloe, and the mayor himself roped him into that.”
“But my mother works for the embassy! And I saved his kitten!”
Again, Alix snorted, and Alya had her arms folded now, frowning.
“You know, I couldn’t find anything about that online, or about Jagged even having a kitten. The more I think about it, the more I wonder why I believed that in the first place.”
“You believed Marinette,” she couldn’t help the slight snarl at that name, “when she said she designed stuff for Jagged and he came to her house.”
“But she didn’t say that,” Nino pointed out. “We saw all of that for ourselves. But now I think about it, I haven’t seen anything that proves you’ve even met him.”
“But I have! He really was coming, and he was going to sing Happy Birthday to me! He just had to cancel.”
“Sure, Lila.”
After all the stories Lila had spun, and the lies and embellishments, how could it be the truth that they refused to believe? The group drifted away from her while Lila stared after them in open-mouthed shock. She was left in a spreading circle of isolation at her own party.
The only person who acknowledged her existence was the tall boy with the blue hair over near the buffet table. Lila frowned, trying to work out where she knew him from. He was older than her class, and the ripped jeans and scruffy hoodie were out of place among the smartly dressed guests, but he looked familiar, and what was he doing at her party anyway? He raised the vol au vent in his hand in an unsmiling salute.
Lila made her way over to him.
“Now, where do I know you from?” she asked with an attempt at coyness, in spite of the fury still seething through her at her classmates’ revolt. His expression didn’t change.
“We’ve met before. I’m Juleka’s brother, Luka.”
Juleka’s brother. Marinette. She had a sudden memory of the steps outside the school and an older boy with blue hair and a guitar slung over his back, coolly warning her about what would happen if she messed with Marinette or his sister. Her eyes narrowed.
He said, “I just wanted to say Happy Birthday, and I’m sorry to hear that Jagged fell through on you.”
“Jagged?” Lila sucked in a breath at that. “What do you know about Jagged Stone?”
“You underestimated Marinette,” the blue-haired boy said calmly. “It’s all about who you know, isn’t that what you said, Lila? It’s all about connections. Except Marinette’s are real.”
She let out a smothered shriek.
“Marinette did this! How could she-“
Luka was shaking his head. “Marinette didn’t do a thing. She’s been trying so hard to take the high road, and she’s not vindictive. I did warn you, though, what would happen if you threatened someone I care about again – just because I don’t want to play your kind of games doesn’t mean I can’t or won’t.”
“Then you turned them all against me! You-“
“I didn't even need to do that,” Luka said, and gave her an infuriatingly composed smile. “In the end, all I really needed to do was tell my dear old dad how you treated his favourite designer. I didn’t even have to bend the truth to do it, and the music just played from there.”
Lila’s mouth fell open. “Jagged Stone… is your father?!”
“Surprised the hell out of me, too,” Luka muttered, and finished the pastry he was holding. He dusted the crumbs off his hands.
“Connections,” Luka said, and shoved himself away from the table. “I have them too, and I’m more than willing to use them for Marinette’s sake. Thank you for the lovely party.”
He gave her a little wave and walked away, leaving her standing there in the ruins of her reputation.

Too Late: Juleka & Rose (commission for miner249er)
Chapter 10 of @miner249er ‘s commission
Previous Work
Last Chapter                                    Next Chapter
Summary: A nightmare, a call, and a conversation. What a night.
Juleka was running. Fast. Her feet ached, her lungs burned, she had to have been running for hours and yet she couldn’t get away. She couldn’t even put a distance between her and her pursuer. It was like every step she took only brought her closer to them, but all she could do was run, and she absolutely refused to look back at them. Least she be filled with fear and guilt so deep, it would render her incapable of movement. It would drown her. Juleka was a lover of all things macabre and she was a horror movie fanatic, but living in one? That was another thing entirely. Even though she knew she was running as fast as she could, she knew that She was right behind her and had stayed behind her all the while keeping a leisurely pace like the most iconic slashers in horror movie history.
There were whispers all around, all saying different things, but it was the same voice but multiplied. It didn’t make sense, but the subconscious never did to begin with, why should it have started now? At first, Juleka paid no mind to the whispers, that was until they grew in volume and felt like they became tangible, like walls pressing around her, slowly pushing in. Ready to crush her at a steady pace. The whispers were yells, she had no choice but to focus on them and hear what they said. It was static, then all at once she was hearing anything and everything she had done that she classified as bad or that warranted guilt, but the ones that stood out the most were the ones that involved Her. It wasn’t surprising given everything that had happened but Juleka still didn’t want to hear it, any of it. So as she ran she covered her ears but ultimately it did nothing. The voices got louder, almost shouting, and she could feel that She was closing in on her.
She could see a way out, but the more she ran, the further away it seemed to get. Juleka could hear Rose calling her name. No, no, no, nonononononononono. Rose shouldn’t have been there, she shouldn’t be chased too! She shouldn’t go through what Juleka was! So she opened her mouth to shout and warn Rose, tell her to get out of there and not look back, but when she did nothing came out. She couldn’t shout. Couldn’t talk. Juleka felt tears fall as she tried to make any sound at all. She...she had no voice.
“It’s not like that’s anything new, huh?” She heard right behind her.
Juleka fell on her hands and knees and turned around to see nothing but she knew She had been there. She had felt her breath on the back of her neck.
“Juleka Couffaine. The Silent. You know you have done wrong, but are you ready for the punishment? I have to protect everyone from your inaction. Try not to make a noise.” Juleka swiveled around and there She was. She stared up at the familiar face of one Marinette Dupain-Cheng, but not the familiar eyes of her once friend. No those were the eyes of The Protector. The one who lunged at her before she heard one last shout of her name from Rose. Sweet Rose.
It was then that Juleka awoke with a start and a scream caught in her throat. Her hair was sticking to her forehead, her pajamas to her skin, she was sweating, she hated sweating. Her heart was doing its best to beat itself out of her chest and her breathing was hard to catch, like it had been the one to run away from an old friend turned akuma. There was a slight breeze on her face and it was then she noticed that Rose was using one of her hand fans to fan her face and help cool her down and help get her out of her dream faster. She could hear Rose talking to her and she tried her best to focus on it and control her breathing, this was the usual routine when she had nightmares, though none had been this bad in a long time. Not since Reflekta and Reflekdoll. Those had been bad too, and occasionally she would still have reoccurring dreams of those times but she was getting better at dealing with them. This had been completely out of the blue and it had hit just as hard.
“Jules…”
“I’m...I’m okay…” She whispered.
“Well that’s a lie.” Rose replied but she said nothing more as she sat next to Juleka and gently held her hand.
Juleka couldn’t help the abrupt but soft chuckle that escaped. “Yeah.”
“Do you want to talk about it? It...seemed like a bad one.”
“It was.”
Rose didn’t say anything in the darkness but she did give Juleka’s hand a soft squeeze and the goth girl appreciated it as she gathered her thoughts and the remnants of her nightmare. It wasn’t good to keep things in, case and point being the whole Hawkmoth Reign they endured, but it was still hard to express your feeling when for so long you tried to be emotionless so you wouldn’t be taken advantage of by a madman who used your emotions against you. Her therapist was working on that with her and on her voicing her thoughts more and just overall having a voice. It was tough work but she needed it, she really did, she wanted to repair her relationship with Luka, she wanted to be more open and courageous. In many ways she wanted to be more like Marinette and that thought sent a jolt through her heart.
“It started off fine I guess.” She started thinking back on the nightmare, even if all she wanted to do was forget it. “We were...we were all in Marinette’s room. Like old times, it was like when we had sleepovers and shared our secrets. Everything was going fine up until that point. Alya and Mylene got mad that Marinette wasn’t sharing a bigger secret other than thinking that she thought her and Adrien would never happen and she thought she should give up.”
“...She did say that once...I...I remember that. We got mad at her.” Rose said in a small voice.
Juleka gulped but continued even though the guilt she felt was suffocating. “Well, they got mad like back then and said she needed a bigger secret to tell. A “ juicier” secret. It got uncomfortable how they were and all of a sudden Marinette just...she just turned into her. She said she would protect us from ourselves...she would make us face our secrets, face ourselves. We ran.”
She heard Rose’s shaky breath, it matched her own. “I lost you guys, I was running but I wasn’t in Paris. I don’t know where I was. I could hear her whispering things, I couldn’t hear what they were but I just knew she was telling me everything I was guilty of, everything I didn’t do. The whispers got louder, till they were shouts and no matter how hard I ran she was always right behind me.”
“...Well,” Rose began, “We all did something wrong, so you’re not alone Jules. I know it’s easier said than done, but you don’t bear all the guilt and you don’t have to put all the blame on yourself. We all pushed her away, we all knew something wasn’t right but didn’t act, some more than others maybe, but the point I’m trying to make is...you’re not running alone Juleka.”
Juleka closed her eyes and let some unshed tears fall. She knew that Rose was right because that is what her therapist had told her many times, it was just hard to accept. Everything that had happened was hard to accept but she was working through that. This, this was a whole other thing to confront and she didn’t know if she could. She knew she should say something, anything, even if only to reassure Rose but she couldn’t. Nothing was coming to mind and she could feel her throat tighten once more so she simply squeezed Rose’s hand and hoped it was enough. She got a squeeze in return and it helped her anxieties lessen a bit. For a while the two just sat there in darkness, in silence, just holding each other’s hand before the quiet was broken by Rose’s facetime ring going off. It startled them both enough to scramble around to find the blonde’s phone before Luka or Juleka’s mom heard and woke up.
Juleka heard Rose’s soft “found it” just as she had turned on the lamp next to her bed. The two stared at Rose’s phone to see it was Prince Ali calling, and well, the two were already up and while the two looked at each other and exchanged nods, Rose answered the call. “Ali?”
“Rose! Hello!...Oh...Oh dear. I am sorry, I did not realize how late it was for you.” The Prince apologized as he scratched the back of his neck with a wince.
“No worries Ali! We were already up.” Rose reassured while Juleka waved to the Prince and nodded to confirm Rose’s words.
“You were?” The boy sounded shocked and looked over the two girls, before he nodded slowly like he was trying to convince himself it was true or something of the like. “Are you two...what do they call them? Night owls?”
“Uhhh, well I suppose I am.” Juleka replies softly. “But not so much Rose, she is very much a morning person.”
“That’s true!” Rose confirmed with a smile.
“Oh...then why are the two of you awake?” It was a simple question, really it was but both girls froze, before Juleka looked down at her lap.
“I woke us up. I had a nightmare.” She admitted. She had been working on opening up more and Rose really did trust Ali. Plus he was always so nice when Juleka was there for their calls if she happened to be around.
For a moment the Prince was quiet before he gave a small short nod and bit his lip before looking at them both again. “I don’t want to overstep and please tell me if I do, but is it because of the missing akuma?”
“Her name is Marinette!” Juleka snapped before she flushed and bowed her head. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to snap. I-”
“No, no, no. I am the one who is sorry. You are correct, I forget...I think we all do, that she is a real person. And...and your friend. So I apologize for being so insensitive.” Prince Ali seemed sincere in his apology and even went as far as to bow to Juleka, she understood the sentiment but she felt like she didn’t deserve it whatsoever.
“There’s...no need for uh, all that, honest. It’s cool.” Juleka tried to reassure. “It’s just…”
“It’s been a little hard is all. Marinette is all anyone talks about, in the news, in magazines, papers...in...in schools.” Rose added on, though her voice became more subdued towards the end, but Juleka understood why all too perfectly.
It was quiet again, but it was the sort of quiet that didn’t bring Juleka peace, it was the quiet that made you feel panicked, like you had to break it somehow in some way. But she didn’t know how to break it and that was a worse feeling than wanting to break it and just being engulfed in the seemingly never ending quiet. Should she apologize again? Should she break down in tears? Maybe she should just wait and see if Rose or Ali would break the silence, but what if they were waiting on her to do it? Juleka wracked her brain for anything, anything she could say that wouldn’t offend, or seem strange, or make her seem more pathetic than she no doubt already looked, but her brain was all TV static.
“You say school so...so sadly my dear friend, why?” It was Ali who broke that never-ending, cruel quiet. Juleka was grateful but at the mention of school her heart dropped.
“It...It’s been a little rough is all.” Rose said with a strained smile, though Juleka knew she was trying to go for reassuring.
Now was not the time to hide, they had to be open, that’s what her mother and her therapist had been telling her, and it was obviously hurting Rose to keep all this inside since the small blonde didn’t like to worry others. Rose liked to be the warmth in everyone’s lives she loved when everyone was happy, more so if she was the cause of said happiness. Though  happiness was in short supply for their class nowadays, especially with how other classes saw and treated them. Some of them were worse off than others, namely Alya, Nino, and...Adrien, and there were those who got nothing more than disapproving stares, Nathaniel and Rose. It still gutted Rose to not be met with smiles, to talk to someone and have them be so obvious in their distaste for her and her friends. It was taking a toll on her.
“That’s...a bit of an understatement. Everyone treats us like we are rats. They don’t talk to us unless necessary or unless they want to scream at us about how...how awful we are.” Juleka admitted to Ali, she could feel Rose’s eyes on her but she just continued to look down at her lap. Rose needed someone to talk to about this, someone other than Juleka, and Ali was a good person and a good friend.
“Oh my! Rose, is that true?” Ali asked, his voice soft but his eyes wide in concern and horror.
“It...It kind of is...yeah. We’ve been kicked out of our individual clubs, except for Art Club! But I think that’s more because our class made up the majority. But the others in that club left because we stayed. The Scrapbook Club made me a lovely card and memory book, but it was to kick me out of the club and to show our time together in the past before I supposedly changed.” Rose sniffed out, Juleka knew it was hard to share so she slipped her arm around Rose’s waist in a side hug.
“Changed?” Ali asked, looking as perplexed as he sounded.
“Apparently...the old Rose would have never believed a liar like Li...Li...like her over a friend she had known for much longer. Apparently the old Rose would have known she was being lied to…” Rose had never spoken so bitterly before, it was shocking yet at the same time not, Rose was allowed to be bitter.
“Rose…” Juleka mumbled, she didn’t even know what to say, she just wanted to comfort the girl.
“How? How was I supposed to know I was being lied to!? That’s-That’s the whole point of being lied to! You don’t know!” The blonde cried. “They act like we knew what we were doing. Like we were doing everything on purpose. And I get it. I do. I already owned up to the fact that I should have confirmed with you Ali, that you knew a Lila Rossi, but I didn’t. And I regret that everyday. I just...I want Marinette back.”
At this point Juleka began to cry too and hugged Rose fully. “That’s not even the worst of it. They spill things on us. Some even call us by our...our akuma names and refuse to call us by our actual names. They act like we wanted this to happen.”
“Rose. Juleka. I cannot begin to express my apologies at what you two are going through. And...the...the anger I feel. Rose, you see the good in everyone, and you want everyone to be happy. For these people to say you should have known you were being lied to...it angers me. And Juleka, though we have not known each other long, I know you are a loyal friend. You made mistakes, and you both have owned up to said mistakes. You do not deserve this treatment. It’s one thing to deny your actions, but you two recognize what you did and that. That there tells me you two are good, and I am so sorry you have to go through this. Why don’t you change schools, if you don’t mind me asking?” Ali truly was wise for his age, and his words soothed some of the hurt. He really was a good friend to both Rose and even if it was a fairly new friendship, even to Juleka.
“It’s too late into the year and even if we did, people know who we are, maybe not what we look like but I wouldn’t count on that given how many of our classmates have done amazing things that resulted in them being in the media, I think people expect it.” Juleka answered.
“Plus, there is no guarantee if we applied to the same school that we would be in the same class and...it’s just better to stay. It’s awful, don't get me wrong, but at least we have everyone with us. We have their support and we can support them. We’re...we’re not alone.” Rose added with a small shrug of her shoulders.
“It’s not an ideal situation but like Rose said...at least we’re not alone in everything.”
“What about the teachers? The school in general? Couldn’t you take this up with them and the higher officials?” Ali asked, his voice tinged with a bit of desperation. He seemed to really want to help them out and Juleka’s heart went out to him.
“Some have tried to help, and for the most part they do help, but others...it’s like they don’t care.” Juleka confessed. “They pretend to care when it’s convenient for them, but the new principal is trying. The class has their own counselor...to work out our grief and uh...and everything that happened with Rossi. We met them a couple days ago and they seem nice.”
“I hope the principal and the new counselor truly help. I wish there was something I could do to help, it pains me to see my friends in so much pain.” Ali said, and it was the first time Juleka had ever heard him sound so small. Like him not being able to do anything about the school situation was really tormenting him.
Juleka and Rose looked at each other and smiled before looking back at the screen. Rose spoke first. “Ali, you calling to check on us and talk to us is more than enough.”
“Rose is right, really, talking about it has really helped, and I think especially talking about it to someone who isn’t directly involved helps more...I don’t know if that makes any sense.” Juleka added.
“It makes perfect sense my friends. I should let you two get back to sleep, but know you can call me at any time to talk, I am here for you, both of you. Hopefully I can visit at some point. I would love it if we could all hang out together.”
“That sounds lovely, Ali. Talk to you later.” Rose said with a sincere smile before she hung up. Juleka knew they wouldn’t be able to go to sleep right away so she suggested they make tea in the meantime. She was delighted when Rose agreed. Both teens were surprised to see Luka in the kitchen but he didn’t walk out, he didn’t say anything either, just nodded, but it was a start and Juleka was just grateful he sat with them and had some tea. Things weren’t okay, but maybe they were starting to be.

"Say the words and I'm yours forever" with Akuma Revolters AU
After being bored with guarding Audrey's party, Chloé goes to her hotel room.
What she didn't expect was seeing Alix on her bed.
"Alix? What are you doing here!? Your new besties must not be too far!"
Alix then gets off the bed, walks up to Chloé, and grabs her hands.
"I left the Akuma Revolters..."
"It's about time! Although I don't think I'm ready to forgive just yet..."
While Chloé was pouting, Alix kisses her cheek.
"I understand. Just know that all you need to do is..."
Chloé was quick to wrap her arms around Alix's waist while looking into her cerulean eyes.
"Say the words and I'm yours forever~"
Chloé doesn't hesitate to slam her lips into Alix's while the latter caresses the sides of her face.
Little did Chloé, none of this was real.
Rose used her ability to show her what she wanted more than anything.
"This should how her until we can free those who were captured by Audrey and André."
"I'm sorry Chloé. I hope you're having a good dream..."
Alix and Rose then regroup with the other Akuma Revolters.

Collusion and the political victory of Gabriel/Monarch
I have already analysed the quite obvious and less obvious references to the French Revolution in my previous post. Now let's discuss the internal politics at play in Collusion.
Status Quo
At the beginning of the episode, we have the following situation:
André Bourgeois is the Mayor of Paris and he is part of and controlled by the wealthy elite (see how Tsurugi-san asks Gabriel to convince André to accept their business plan)
Ladybug and Chat Noir are recognised as legitimate law enforcers by the state
The Monarch is public enemy
The Trigger
When André Bourgeois refuses to obey Gabriel's wishes, he triggers a series of events that change the status quo:
Gabriel slanders André Bourgeois's reputation thanks to his personal friendship with him
Simultaneously, he creates an akuma victim, Mlle. Sans Culotte, whose sole aim is to rid Paris of André Bourgeois
Simultaneously, he gives Chloé the tools necessary take over the government
The French republican and revolutionary ideals frequently find place in Miraculous episodes. In Darkblade, Adrien's fencing teacher is defeated by André Bourgeois at the mayoral elections and tries to take the Hôtel de Ville by force. In Heroes' Day, the people of Paris set a popular uprising against the akumas to help the heroes (thanks to @halfahelix for helping me find this episode!). In Mega Leech, the students revolt against the Mayor who wanted to destroy the park. And in the s4 finale, despite the heroes defeat, the people get out in the street to support them and to show the Monarch that they are not afraid of him.
The thing is that, always (if there is a counter-example I am forgetting, please let me know) the Monarch is at the opposing side of the people's will. However this once, he is actually supporting, empowering Sans Culotte?
This weirdness is also pointed out by Ladybug:
I find it strange that the Monarch is supporting a revolutionary.
It is, indeed weird that Gabriel is not only empowering the revolutionary, but also her polar opposite, the personification of the elite: Chloé.
We learn the reason for this choice when Monsieur Bourgeois steps down: Gabriel wanted to put Ladybug and Chat Noir in a position that would make it seem like they are involved in politics.
This is no easy task when Ladybug and Chat Noir are so careful in maintaining their distance from politics. In other superhero fiction, especially those which are a bit more on the realistic side, there are instances where superheroes use their excessive force to assume or sway political power. Even in the Miraculous Universe, the President of the United States is a super hero! But coming from this country with a strong culture of republic and democracy, Ladybug and Chat Noir refuse to do so. Even when Ladybug receives a crown as a lucky charm, she refuses to support either side.
Ladybug: It is not us who should decide who is the Mayor and who is not.
Unfortunately, Ladybug and Chat Noir's efforts to be neutral are negated by Gabriel's plan.
The thing is, no matter what would have happened in that room, it would have ended up with making Ladybug and Chat Noir look bad. The moment the video was released, André Bourgeois's days as the Mayor was already over: he would either step down, or be forced by Mlle. Sans Culotte. The fact that Ladybug and Chat Noir were in the room when this dramatic change in power happened is what doomed them.
Tumblr media
If you look closely, you can see that both Ladybug and Chat Noir's attention and weapons completely directed at the Sans Culotte. They weren't attacking her because they wanted to give her a chance to reason with the Mayor, but they were ready to if she did anything but talking. Unfortunately, for the cameras which entered the room at that moment, along with Chloé's accusations, it seemed like Ladybug and Chat Noir were the ones who forced the Mayor out.
As such, with his little manoeuver, Gabriel rids of both André Bourgeois (whom he can't control anymore) and his long-time nemeses Ladybug and Chat Noir.
The Coup
If we are to pull parallels from real historical cases, very often revolutions are followed by a vacuum of power and periods of instability. This instability, more often than not, can turn into violence and in many cases, armed interventions realised to supposedly bring stability can lead to the rise to dictators.
In this case, the revolution doesn't turn violent, but only because the Mayor decides to step down by his own volition and Mlle. Sans Culotte decides to drop her arms (by deakumatising). The very real possibility of revoluationary violence (as refered by Ladybug, a Reign of Terror, explained further here), is averted.
However, Gabriel masterfully manages to make it seem that it happened still.
Tumblr media
Why? Because of Chloé's Coup. I don't think that it would be farfetched to call it a coup for two reasons: even in this frame, you can see Chloé come into the physical space that represents power (the Mayor's room) with the following:
An army of robocops (force)
Cameras (media)
In a real Coup attempt, the aim is to overpower whomever is in power with literal show of force. And indeed, not only the robocops attack Ladybug and Chat Noir, but also nearly manage to capture them if it weren't for Chat Noir's cataclysm. Which means that the robocops' strengh is similar to that of Ladybug and Chat Noir and do constitute them a real threat.
Secondly, controlling the media narratives following a Coup is what placates the population and attempts to convince them that the Coup was legitimate. It is not for nothing that putshists usually prioritise radio and TV buildings during their Coup. And here we see that thanks to Gabriel and Tsurugi-san, Chloé has the control of the media.
Like many leaders who rise out of a Coup, Chloé also adopts a narrative of democracy, saying that she is doing everything for the will of people. Except that, she can't even spell out democracy, and that shows how insincere she actually is in her promise.
The New Order
Now what? What is the new situation?
André Bourgeois is replaced by Chloé, who is a puppet to both Gabriel and Lila. From one puppet to another. Except that now, he doesn't know that his puppet Chloé is controlled by someone else.
The Monarch, Ladybug, and Chat Noir are declared public enemy. This may make it seem like Chloé is being fair, given that all three of them are declared enemy, but actually the Monarch was already a public enemy before all of this. As such, Chloé's ruling hinders only Ladybug and Chat Noir, and weakens them considerably against the Monarch.
How will things play out for the heroes?
We still don't know what the public acceptance of Chloé will be. She is a spoiled kid in charge of a city, after all. But also she is guided by master manipulator Lila and supported by the ultimate elite of the city, the Agreste and the Tsurugi families.
The Resistance established by Nino had always intended to support Ladybug and Chat Noir, so they will probably continue doing that.
Ladybug and Chat Noir will need to rely on each other a lot more because now they are literally outlaws.
I am quite satisfied that I saw this happening back when I discussed Reunion, and I am pleasantly surprised that André Bourgeois did the right thing for once.
I really can't wait to see more outlaw Ladybug and Chat Noir!
Also, if you liked this, maybe you'd like to check my other analyses here :3

Sorry for you
A draft inspired by Rhiannon Crochan - her quote is what I remember most about Heir Of Fire. This story is kind of gloomy.
Marinette had been brutally beaten by the thugs Gabriel had hired. Bound and dragged before her enemies, Marinette’s blue eyes remained steady.
Gabriel, Nathalie, Chloé and Lila stood before her. One triumphant, one professional, one eager and one malicious.
They had found her identity, stolen her earrings. How was not the priority.
Seeing the ring gleaming on Gabriel’s finger, Marinette knew her partner was out for now. After a quick glance around her, feeling her tight bonds, Marinette knew there was no escape, nor could she save these poor souls. All she could do now was have the last word.
Marinette steadily looked at them and smiled. “Demon. Witch. Traitor. Nobody.” They were what the Parisians chose to call the villains. “By all means, enjoy my bruises. How they must pale to all the havoc you had caused before. Does it annoy you to see all your damage undone as if it were nothing but a trifle?”
The girls were about to snap back but Nathalie raised a hand for silence.
Gabriel just raised a brow. “All done for a noble cause, I assure you.”
Marinette laughed, blood splattering from her lips. “Pretty words to hide behind. What happens to me will only be a haunting memory when you make your wish. Because you chose this so-called path to greatness or goodness, whatever you call it.”
Marinette leaned forward. “Do you one to hear one last secret before the end? Not the names of my kwamis or why you all keep failing. Please, anyone looking at your actions already knows that. No, the secret is that we, heroes and immortals alike, pity you.”
Silence.
“We pity you, Hawkmoth, even after your crimes against humanity and Nooroo. We pity you, Mayura, even after your abuse of power. We pity you, Chloe the cause of most akumas. We pity you, Lila the liar. You weren’t born evil and you’ve suffered (who is and who hasn’t?), but you overlook everything but your own feelings and now there’s nothing left inside you. You’re all pathetic and sad, empty and lonely. That is why you now stand desperate and despairing before me. Because of the danger you posed to Paris which made you flee like cowards. You chose to be the hated villains for whatever cause you dreamed, and we feel sorry for you!”
Who knew Chloé had a gun? Her father wanted her to be safe so he taught her to use it only for emergencies, not to vent her temper. But this is a girl who antagonizes akumas without thought. And a girl who has crossed the line long ago.
After the brief argument about Chloe’s hasty execution, they decided to just make their wishes before moving on
Gabriel wished for a perfect family reunion. He was overjoyed to see his wife again. But while both Emilie and Adrien behaved appropriately and as expected, they kind of creeped him out. It was like living with zombies. It was like they were corpses with no soul, with only magic guiding their actions. And oh yeah, as a family man, he was now stuck in this house of zombies. The doors cannot open.
Nathalie wished she would stop harbouring romantic feelings for Gabriel so she could be truly happy about his family reunion. The wish was granted but soon Nathalie could not feel anything at all. Life became a cold, meaningless existence.
Chloé wished to be a queen she deserves to be. She became a queen but her subjects revolted and it was Marie Antoinette all over again.
Lila wished to be famous, no longer hunted by her haters. And yeah, Lila became this perfect celebrity, doing charitable acts. But the thing was, this sweet Lila’s actions were forced. She was the new Mother Teresa, forced to put everyone else before her own, and refusing any kind of material comfort. And as a new girl, Lila is also compelled to make amends. In short, she confessed her crimes and willingly went to jail, but not before visiting the graves of Marinette and Adrien (the boy living with Gabriel was so not the real Adrien).
Lila: you were right. You became a memory. I have no doubt that you were the strongest memory in Nathalie’s life before she ended it. I have no doubt Chloé saw you in her last moments as queen before the crown fell off with her head. I have no doubt Gabriel is cursing you as he tries to escape his mansion of zombies. And I can feel the real me screaming inside this shell of a body. The real Lila often remembers you when she recalls what led to her imprisonment. I think everyone has finally realized the truth of what you were saying. That we were pitiful creatures before for choosing evil, and we are pitiful now because you knew what would happen when we made our wishes. And thank you. Maybe with your last words echoing in their heads, remorse will save what’s left of their souls.
For the record, Marinette and Adrien were reborn as Bridgette and Felix. And let’s just say Felix wasn’t interested in clingy girls or obeying over controlling parents that much. Which made it harder for him to reunite with his girlfriend from his past life but love is hard.

It was the end. Ladybug and Chat Noir were defeated. Now Adrien and Marinette sat huddled together in Shadowmoth’s lair. Tears running down their faces, and the only comfort being that their partner was there, alive, and someone they loved.
Paris was in turmoil. The Akuma that had captured Ladybug and Chat Noir was violent, and had no qualms about destroying homes, schools, hospitals, whatever stood in his way. And the city was suffering a huge loss. The death toll continued to climb as causalities were left unable to be tended.
But Shadowmoth didn’t care. He didn’t care one bit, because he had the Miraculous and he could make the wish now! Adrien, as frightened and hurt as he was, would understand. And he’d get his ring back after. Gabriel had no need for the continued use.
“Gabriel, I beg you, one last time, don’t make this wish.” Marinette held Adrien’s sobbing face to her chest. “It comes with a price, and if you return someone you love, you’ll have to give up someone else. And there’s no guarantee who that will be.” But she had a horrible sinking feeling it would be Adrien, so she just held him tighter and tighter, pressing kisses to his head.
“You don’t know anything! You’re just a child, and you think you know about the Miraculous because some old man gave you the box in a moment of desperation. You didn’t train. You didn’t study! You know nothing! And Nothing is going to stop me from reviving my wife!”
“Father please!” Adrien shrieked.
“Plagg! Tikki! Unify!”
Marinette couldn’t watch. She couldn’t bear to see the horrors that would unfold. She just held Adrien, and cherished every minute he was in her arms.
“I love you,” she whispered. “You were the other boy. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner.”
His finger curled into her shirt. “My Lady…I have always loved you, and I always will.”
The chaos in the room grew still, and the lights and magic waned.
“Gabriel?” A feminine voice asked.
Adrien lifted his head, hope in his chest. “Mom?”
“Adrien?”
Gabriel was smirking in a smug way, before waltzing over to Marinette and dropping the jewels in her hand. “I told you, I knew what I was doing. But here, take your little friends back. I don’t need them anymore.”
Then he went to the intercom on the wall and called, “Nathalie, Emilie is awake. Would you bring her some tea please?”
There was no response.
“Nathalie?”
Adrien let out a sigh and clenched his eyes shut. “You were right after all, My Lady. Just…my father doesn’t love me as much as we feared.”
The conversation was not missed by Gabriel, and he ran out of the room, no doubt looking for her.
“What’s going on? Where am I?” Asked Emilie, approaching the couple.
Now with no fear of losing him, Marinette let Adrien go to embrace his mother. “It’s okay mom. You were asleep, but dad woke you up. I think…I think it cost Nathalie though. He…” he didn’t finish, too ashamed to say it.
“He loved her. I see.” Emilie was far too smart for her own good. “Well, I have you, my boy.”
Marinette called, “Tikki, Spots on,” as she had a feeling that Ladybug would be needed.
Only moments later, Gabriel ran into the room, with Nathalie’s cold, unmoving body in his arms. “Fix it!” He shouted at her, like a toddler throwing a tantrum. “Fix this!”
“Lucky Charm!” Ladybug summoned a bouquet of flowers, and with it, knew exactly what to do. “Gabriel, your Akuma killed half of Paris today, destroyed millions of homes…and you want me to resurrect the ‘other woman’?”
“I don’t care about Paris! I don’t care about all that! Nathalie doesn’t deserve this! She didn’t do anything wrong!”
Ladybug shook her head. “As much as I would love to give everyone a happy ending, you don’t deserve it. You never did. You didn’t heed my warning. You had no worries about sacrificing your son if need be. But trying to bring back your wife, while being in love with another woman? You can’t have your cake and eat it too.”
“Ladybug!” He shrieked.
“Miraculous Ladybug,” she threw the bouquet up in the air and the swarm took off into the city. The sound of sirens started to quiet as the healing took place.
“No! No no no!” Gabriel shouted. “Give me back the earrings! You don’t know how to use them!”
Chat Noir, now newly transformed, grabbed Gabriel’s tie and yanked, revealing the Butterfly Miraculous. He took the Peacock as well.
“You’re done causing heartbreak, Gabriel.”
“Son?”
“I’m not your son anymore. I haven’t been since you revealed yourself as a monster. I loved you, and I wanted nothing more than for you to love me back. But now I see that you’re greedy, and want too much. You’ll never be content, as long as you live.”
“No! You don’t know that! You can’t!”
Emilie walked up to Chat Noir’s side and pressed a kiss to his cheek. “I’ve got you baby. He needs to pay for his crimes. I can let him go.”
“Emilie!” Gabriel screamed. “I gave up everything for you! This was all for you! How can you just—“
She shook her head. “I still love you, Gabe. I probably will for a long time. But I’ve only been awake for a few minutes, but from what I’ve seen…I’m revolted.”
Chat Noir took Nathalie’s body from him, as Ladybug wrapped his wrists with her yo-yo. “I told you, the price was too high.”
Finally, finally Gabriel showed regret, but it was far too late. “I should have listened.”
