18+ MINORS AND THOSE WITHOUT AGE IN BIO DNI
YOU WILL BE BLOCKED
warnings: banishment, scars (lokis mythology scars to be exact so sutchers around the mouth and burn scars on his face), odin being a dick, lying, swearing
AN: im starting a new story. this one is based in the magnus chase world where the norse gods are real and come to earth to hook up with the people there. often resulting in demigods. so hello from your resident historian and norse mythology nerd cuz this is gonna be heavy in myth with a touch of mcu (i cant leave tom Hiddleston out of something loki). enjoy.
“How dare you Loki!” odin roared. ”You have gotten up to your tricks for the last time! As punishment,” Loki flinched below Odin. His face still stung and he could almost feel the venom still dripping on his face. His wrists felt lighter than they ever had tied spread out below the snake. ”Ah. Nervous are you Loki? Don’t worry. This punishment will be more permanent and lesson filled than the last one. Seeing as the last punishment did not teach you anything about getting up to your tricks, this time you will not be coming back. As All-Father, I hereby banish you to Midgard. You will have enough power to blend in and make yourself scarce. I do not want to see or hear mention of you ever again.”
“I guess this is good bye then.” Loki laughed as he felt himself thrown into the Bifrost. Colors swirled around him as he fell through the sky. Loki landed in the middle of a field. Groaning, he sat up and looked around. ”Fenway. Great.” standing up, Loki brushed himself off. ”Back in Boston.” Looking down at himself, Loki waved his hand and smirked as his clothes changed. Black skinny jeans, a dark green t-shirt, a black leather jacket and dark green converse replaced his normal Asgardian attire. He waved his hand again but nothing happened. Frowning, Loki tried again to teleport himself to Randolph’s mansion. Again nothing happened. Muttering under his breath, Loki made his way out of the stadium. When he reached the gate, he looked around before climbing over it. Once his feet touched the sidewalk on the other side, he caught a glimpse of his reflection in a car window. ”Fuck.” he growled.
Odin hadn’t healed his scars. Hesitantly, Loki ran a hand over the small puncture wounds lining both sides of his mouth. He supposed he could leave two and try to pierce his lip with what the Midgardians called snakebites. It would be true to his nature he supposed. Glancing around again, Loki ran his finger over the scars and watched them disappear. He smiled at his reflection before his eyes were dragged up to his nose. The wounds there stared back at him. With a sigh, he did the same to those scars. With a glance at the people around him, Loki made a hard decision. The last time he had been here, everyone had different styles of hair. Now it seemed everyone had short hair. It didn’t matter the gender, short hair was the new trend. Grudgingly walking down the street, Loki felt his pockets, hoping that at least he would have some money to pay for things. There was a wallet in his back pocket but when he opened it, there was nothing in it. “Damn.” Standing in front of the hair salon, Loki thought over his options. He could trick them but without his full powers, he couldn’t do much more than glamours. He could just say forget it and just do a glamour on his hair. Or he could forget the whole thing and learn to live as a Midgardian with long hair. After all, he would probably be more comfortable that way when he felt like a woman. A small bell dragged him out of his thoughts. He spun around quickly, mentally preparing himself for a fight. What he didn’t expect was to see someone standing in the doorway looking at him with kindness.
“I’m sorry. I uh noticed you standing out here for a while and uh is there any way I can help you out?” Loki starred at me. “I figured you didn’t exactly have money and I know that my friend will work for free if you have a good excuse.” I gulped as I looked at the man in front of me. ”Which I’m sure you do. I’m just saying because it seems like you need or rather want a hair cut.” The man sighed as he nodded and walked through the door I held open.
“I do. Thank you.” I smiled at him as he walked in. As he passed me, I couldn’t help but notice he was a little taller than me. There seemed to be this undeniable pull to him that I couldn’t explain. ”It’s been a while since I had one. Are you sure your friend wouldn’t mind doing it for free?”
“Course she would. It gives her practice and besides not everyone can afford everything all the time. Sometimes we just need a little help with the things that need to get done.” I shrugged as I ushered the man over to my friend’s chair. ”I’m (Y/N) by the way.” I held my hand out for him to shake. He took it and gently squeezed it as we shook hands.
“I’m Loki.” I smiled at him.
“Like the god?” I asked, a blush creeping up my neck. He nodded, eyes clear but something hid just behind them. “That’s cool. I really like Norse myth and all that. Marvel really helped me get into it.” Loki finally smiled back and it was his turn to blush a little.
”Thank you.” he let go of my hand as my friend walked over.
“(Y/N), who is this?” she asked.
“Sarah, this is Loki. He needs a hair cut but,” I trailed off. Sarah nodded in understanding.
“Then a hair cut he’ll get.” she smiled at the two of us and made a small motion between me and him. I shook my head at her, a small scowl on my face. She shrugged and smirked at me as she ushered Loki to a chair. ”(Y/N) has a habit of finding those in need and getting them the help they need. Anything that happens to you and you don’t know how to handle, come here and find them.” As I went back to the counter, I shot Sarah a glare. I knew what she was insinuating. She was discreetly trying to set me up with this new and handsome customer. Sarah left me alone the entire time he was getting his hair cut.
“Don’t worry about it.” I said when he went to the register. Loki smiled politely at me and nodded.
“Hopefully we’ll meet again (Y/N).” He said with a smile. He offered me his hand and when I put my hand in his, Loki leaned down and kissed it. Sarah watched our interactions from her spot. Looking back over at her once Loki had left, I knew that I wouldn’t hear the end of it.
“Shut up.” I pointed at her before cleaning up the area. Sarah put her hands up.
“All I’m saying is there is a hot guy out there with the name of a Norse God that seems to like you in some capacity. And,” Sarah raised an eyebrow at me. ”if I’m not mistaken, it is the Norse God that you are obsessed with. So why not take the chance?” I rolled my eyes and continued cleaning up. “All I’m saying is take a chance (Y/N). This might be good for you.” I sighed and nodded.
“If I ever see him again and he wants to take that chance as well, I’ll do it.” Sarah gasped.
“(Y/N).” she whispered. I looked up at her.
“What now?” I groaned. She pointed at the window at the front of the store.
“I think he still needs your help.” I turned around and let out a sigh as I took in Loki standing awkwardly in front of the store again. “(Y/N), he needs you. If this isn’t fate I don’t know what is. Go. That’s the end of your shift. ” With a nod, I walked over to the door and opened it for him again.
“Hi.” I breathed out as I joined him on the sidewalk. “Sarah noticed you out here. Is there anything else I can help with?” Loki bit his bottom lip as he nodded.
“This sounds odd I know. I was supposed to stay with family but that didn’t quite work out. They aren’t too…pleased to see me. I’m not quite sure where I can go…” Loki trailed off. He played with the zipper on his sleeve. ”Sarah said if I needed anything I could come here and find you.” His eyes finally met mine. I nodded.
“You need somewhere to stay.” I said. A million reasons why this was a bad idea flooded my brain. ”I need somewhere to stay.” The way Loki agreed with me clicked my only solution into place.
“My shift just finished. I’ll give you a ride.” I started towards my car parked on the side of the building. Loki jumped into action and quickly caught up with me.
“Where are you taking me?” I turned to look up at him.
“You can stay on my couch.”

hi! where do you think bucky's encounter with isaiah bradley fits within your timeline? they mention that they sent a couple of guys to fight bucky and no one came back, so i suppose he was already active enough during that time for usa to know of him!
Oomph, you know what, Falcon and Winter Soldier fucked my timelines all to fuck okay. I was waiting for the series to finish up before I tried to piece the new info together, and then I got distracted and never had time to do the work. But anyway! The new info does change some things. Big things.
For example, the dog tags showed me that my guesses as to when Bucky was drafted were wrong by a long shot, and he was in fact part of the post-Pearl Harbor wave of drafts and likely got his draft card on Christmas Eve of 1941. Which is annoying since I need to go back and fix the info, BUT the new info made his draft date and his rank of Sergeant in 1943 MAKE SENSE. That’s a whole other nerd infodump though.
But Isaiah Bradley’s story glitched my Winter Soldier timeline HARD. Bucky being not only active but a huge, known threat during the Korean War, one Hydra was willing to send in, means he was fully operational at least 3 years to a decade before I estimated, that he likely did have some initial memory loss from the fall and it wasn’t nearly as hard or lengthy a process to recondition him, and that he was sent into things I honestly did not expect him to have been involved with. Like full-blown wars.
So, Bucky definitely fought in the Korean War, and that also means he probably was at least peripherally involved in the following: the guerilla wars in both the Baltic states and Ukraine. The Soviet-Japanese War. The First Indochina War. The Hungarian Revolution. And Vietnam. And those are just the ones in the 1950′s. Knowing they used him to fight in wars as well as for assassinations puts him in a lot more places. It also makes it far more plausible that Bucky was involved in the assassination of JFK.
Bucky also confirmed that it was Hydra, not just ‘the Soviets’, pulling his strings way back in 1951, when he said Bradley was one of the things Hydra feared most. It begs the question, was Hydra operating with the Soviets and only branched into other governments after the Soviet Union fell, or were they always a worldwide insidious thing, acting independently and basically putting resources into every side of every fight simply to sow chaos. It kind of seems like the latter, to me, but it’s a question I figured I’d put out there.
The story of Bradley’s encounter with the Winter Soldier also helps to explain why, if Bucky only lost half his human arm in the fall from the train, he wound up with a metal arm that encompasses his entire arm, shoulder joint, and up into his clavicle. I am still confident in saying the flashback scene from the movies where Bucky is getting his metal arm attached is in 1954 because of the articulating saw. Since Bradley broke the metal arm, it means that scene was just one of the memories Bucky had of getting a replacement metal arm attached.
Since the metal arm was not, in fact, indestructible or the original one, every time his metal arm was broken/damaged/ripped off beyond repair, they would’ve had to take a little bit more of his remaining human arm off to attach a new metal one. Just like they have to drill new and bigger holes when they do hip replacements. It also explains why he saw/heard Zola calling him the Fist of Hydra, but it was someone else in that scene attaching the arm. Cause it wasn’t the first one.
I am just now realizing how far I rambled with this....I hope I answered the question somewhere in there?

Current WIPs and Fic Concepts
I promised I would do this yesterday, and then I forgot!!! (I was very sleep deprived). Anyways, here are a bunch of the WIP premises that I have in my 'unfinished drafts' folder. Most have at least a few pages written for them, but I love them all! ☺️💕
- A Santa Clarita Diet AU (Jonsa) Takes place in sunny southern California, where a shitty dinner at a mediocre restaurant turns into a huge problem for Jon and Sansa when Sansa's heart stops beating. Although she seems fine, Jon is flabbergasted several days later as he watches his wife- who alphabetizes their pantry and refuses to let anyone wear shoes in the house- rip the throat out of one of the sleazy new partners at their law firm, eating half of him before anyone processes what's going on. Hilarity ensues as Sansa's inhibitions and filter disappear, Arya ropes an extremely confused Gendry into helping figure out what the hell is going on just because he moderates the zombie forum on reddit, and Jon tries to deal with the fact that the woman he loves more than anything is now a humanitarian. He really could use a drink. (This one is actually mostly complete, but i need to refine a few things- i really love it. It's as gory and irreverent as the show, so viewer discretion advised, but it's a BLAST to write).
- A Thor/MCU AU (Jonsa, Steve Rogers/Sansa)- Asgardian prince Aegon is banished to Midgard after one too many arrogant decisions, and is promptly hit by a van containing Dr. Sansa Stark, Dr. Barristan Selmy, and Margaery Tyrell- two astrophysicists studying wormholes and Sansa's best friend and pseudo-intern. Marg yells at him, he yells back, Sansa tases him, and Barristan didn't sign up for the kind of heavy lifting that getting a 200+ pound slab of muscle into the back of a van takes. And then Aegon's younger brother, Jon, shows up, in the middle of an identity crisis because, apparently, he's adopted. He wasn't intending to stay, but he's rather drawn to Dr. Stark and her brilliance, and against her better judgement, she starts to trust him, and maybe even like him. This story is in about three parts so far- the first is based on 'Thor' and the second on 'The Avengers' and are fully Jonsa, and the third started as a family bonding story between the Stark kids and Tony (Ned and Tony are second cousins, and Ned was really supportive of Tony in rehab without expecting anything in return), and accidentally turned into a Steve Rogers/Sansa Stark story, which is a pairing i am HERE for. A lot of this one is written, but it needs some fill in before publishing, although it's one of my favorites that i've written to go back and actually read.
- A Star Wars AU (Jonsa) where Sansa and Arya are Alderaanian princesses who are off planet when Alderaan is destroyed- Sansa as a senator and Arya as a pilot, both working for the rebellion, and jon is a smuggler who does not know how all of these people got on his ship and why two princesses are sassing him. His copilot, Tormund (yes he's a wookie), thinks it is hilarious. I started this one just the other day, and it's already thirty pages long, most of them involving Sansa and Arya sassing people. Dany is a leader in the rebellion, Roose Bolton is the emperor, and Barbrey Dustin is a disgruntled former jedi trying to live in peace on a remote planet until another Stark crashes into her life and harangues her into teaching again.
- A witches/magic AU (Jonsa) where the Starks run an apothecary and spellcasting supplies shop. Jon had been completely in the dark about magic before his mother confessed to being born into a family of witches. He finds himself traveling to her hometown, trying to understand her world more clearly, and what it means for him. On the way, he develops something of a crush on the red-headed shop clerk who brews the best headache potions in town. Featuring lots of magical shenanigans, this is one of my favorites in the folder :)
- A 24 hour diner AU (Jonsa) where Jon is a local mob boss, and Sansa works the late shift at Seaworth's diner to buy textbooks for the PhD she's working on in botany. Sansa's running from memories, and Jon has a soft spot for the red-headed waitress who always remembers how he likes his coffee.
- An East of the Sun, West of the Moon AU!!! (Jonsa) This is one of my fav fairy tales, and of course i couldn't resist Jon as a direwolf striking a deal with the starks!
- A Roomates AU (Jonsa)- Arya, Jon, Tormund, and Sam have been renting the same house together off Winterfell's campus for years- but when Sam moves in with his girlfriend, they need one more person on the lease. Sansa, about to relocate to Winterfell for grad school, finds out that her boyfriend has been cheating on her and that her housing plans have fallen through, all on the same day. Needless to say, she's a bit upset when she calls Arya to relay the news. There's a simple solution here, if Arya and Tormund can stop teasing Jon about his crush for five minutes. (any excuse to write tormund and arya roasting jon, tbh).
- A Fae AU (Jonsa)- When Sansa, a baker living in the city, washes her face in an enchanted spring on a camping trip, she gains the sight as a result. Suddenly able to see the fae underworld all around her is disorienting and terrifying. Sansa tries to conceal it- afraid of what might happen if the fae around her know that she can see them- but slips up, and catches the attention of Jon Snow- one of the lords of the unseelie court.
- A nuclear winter wasteland AU (Jonsa)- (?? I don't even know how to describe this premise, haha) where the Starks are living and running the Free Winterfell settlement in Siberia after a worldwide nuclear meltdown. Before the fallout, Sansa was one of the world's preeminent researchers in plant genetics and pathology, and works at the settlement to create newer, disease and radiation resistant crops to distribute for free to other settlements, aiming to break up the monopoly that Lannister Corp has on the market. Jon is a scavenger, searching throughout Siberia for his sister Rhae who disappeared several years previously. When he runs across Arya Starkovna, helping her fight off another band of radiation ravaged scavengers is just instinct- he doesn't think twice about it. In thanks, she brings him to the Winterfell settlement, where her brother Robb offers Jon sanctuary and resources, in exchange for serving as a bodyguard for Sansa when she travels to other settlements. Sansa is not particularly thrilled by this arrangement, but given that multiple parties seem to want her dead, she doesn't have much of a choice but to accept his company.
- A reincarnation AU (Jonsa)- of sorts. Robb is an archaeologist who finds a strange set of runes at a site up north, and immediately calls in Jon Snow- a historian and expert in said ancient language, as well as an old university friend of Robb's. When he arrives though, Robb shows him their most valuable finds- two mysterious ice blocks, with what appear to be perfectly preserved bodies from over a thousand years ago. No one could ever have imagined that either of them were still alive, but when the ice melts, revealing two very alive girls, the entire crew is instantly buried in NDAs, and given an assignment from the Westerosi government to figure out what the hell was going on. Sansa and Arya wake up, extremely confused about the world they live in, trying to adapt and mourning all that they've lost, even as the people around them wear familiar faces.
- Soulmates AU (Jonsa)- (Yes, another one, I love this dumb trope) Trauma surgeon and medical resident Sansa Stark is having a very bad day, and ends up meeting her soulmate during what she thinks is a mugging gone wrong. Fortunately, he’s not the one mugging her, just an intervening bystander, but she ends up slightly shot nonetheless. Sansa’s fretting about bleeding on the upholstery in his car, but Jon is a bit more worried about her injuries than the blood stains. He’s a bit confused when she threatens him if he takes her to a specific hospital, nearly has a nervous breakdown when she insists on doing her own triage, and is very charmed when she insists on ice cream after taking pain meds at the hospital. On Sansa’s part, she’s a little less concerned about being shot, and a bit more concerned about whatever weird first impression she’s making to her soulmate while high as a kite on pain pills. (this one just needs some tweaking to be postable- I'm not sure if it's going to be a oneshot or a series, but i love what I have already)
- A Demon/Archivist AU (Jonsa)- where Sansa works in the university's historical archives in Oldtown, and is learning to restore old texts with her fellow student and friend, Alleras (Trans Sarella is an amazing concept). When Joffrey Baratheon shows up with a pile of old books from his family's library to donate, Sansa is eager to get away from his sleaze, and accidentally takes one of the books home with her in her rush to leave. Unbeknownst to her, it's more than it appears, and when she leaves it open overnight, she accidentally summons forth Jon- an ancient, powerful, and extremely annoyed demon who is under a curse, and now hers to command. As Jon and Sansa try to get used to this new normal, the Lannisters (unaware that Joffrey had donated the tome) try desperately to find the book and it's owner, wanting Jon's power for themselves, and putting Sansa in considerable danger unless she can figure out how to break Jon's curse. Fortunately, she's a pretty good researcher, even if Jon is initially a bit of a grump. (This is based on a total wish-fulfillment mary-sue type premise for something I wrote when I was thirteen, and I revisited it and wanted to see what it would look like if i took it very seriously, and i am really enjoying it so far. It's a love letter to the terrible, heartfelt writing i was doing in middle school that created the foundations for my writing today, and so much fun).
The one that I am MOST excited about though:
- A Pacific Rim AU!!!! (Ned/Cat, Gendrya, Braime, Sansa/Jon Umber)-Twins Sansa and Robb Stark have always been completely in tune with each other, and when your parents are Jaeger pilots and your mother invented the neural handshake, what option is there but the Jaeger academy? Sansa studies to be an engineer, but ends up copiloting the Jaeger 'Winter Wolf' with her twin brother, after they lose Ned Stark to cancer. When Robb is ripped out of the conn-pod and killed by a kaiju while he's still connected to Sansa, she barely manages to kill the creature before stumbling back to shore, traumatized, grieving, and swearing that she'll never pilot again.
Unfortunately, the Kaiju don't stop just because Sansa does, and when the end of the world is imminent, Marshall Catelyn Stark orders both her daughter and former pilot Jaime Lannister (who lost his twin and copilot, Cersei, several years previously) back to Hong Kong for one final stand. Forced to face both her demons and an irate Arya, furious that Sansa had abandoned the rest of them after Robb's death, Sansa and Arya have to figure out how to pilot Winter Wolf together before the apocalypse comes for them all.
Featuring Marshall Catelyn Stark (commander of the Hong Kong Shatterdome, inventor of the neural handshake, former Jaeger pilot, and BAMF), Sansa x Jon Umber (Yes i know it's a rare pair but i've always kind of loved the idea of them, even though we know so little about him), Kaiju parts dealer and smuggler Petyr Baelish, bickering kaiju biologist Dany and theoretical mathematician Jon Snow, LOCCENT officer Theon, lots of snark, lots of angst and heartfelt conversations, and a weird friendship between snarky-grieving-asshole Jaime Lannister and kind-quiet-grieving Sansa Stark, who are the only two people in the world who know what it's like to lose a copilot and a twin in the drift.
Thanks for reading guys!! There are more, but some of them I just don't know how to explain quite yet, haha. I'd love to hear what you guys think about these!

NEW BACKGROUND ! TAILORED TO MCU !  featuring original elements of world-building
“At the time of her birth, the capital’s High Court was graced by the Lords of the Six Banners, having ridden in from every region in Vanaheim. Having recently been reunited in peace by Hand of the illustrious King, all six clans arrive to observe, in respect, the birthing ceremony, conducted by priests in the main hall to assure the blessing of the newborn. It was a grand occasion, celebrated with great expectancy, pride and a sense of reinvigoration.” - excerpt drawn from a tattered book unearthed within the Palatial Archives of Great Vanirs.
After many a miscarriage, Queen Ju-Ou (Asgardianized: Joaurra) of the Ula-Nan Clan gave birth to Princess Se-Van (Asgardianized: Sevlyn) in a largely fortified summer palace south of the capital. In attendance were the queen’s ladies in waiting, as well as her father himself, King Ren-Gar of the Hatagin Clan  (Asgardianized: Ralegar) as well as members of the Hoifa Guard and his personal retinue. By birthright, she is second in line for the Antler Crown, before her brother, Prince Ren-Jagar (Asgardianized: Ralgar).
Days before her birth, the queen had a circlet made, weaved out of a rare breed of red passionflower that sprung from the vines on her balcony. The midwives placed it upon the princess’s head, and henceforth she was nicknamed Khosat Qin, or Lady Passion.
Tumblr media
EARLY EDUCATION
As a young child, she showed a promising, quick wit that was dangerously unbridled without discipline and form to temper it. Her formative years were spent in relative freedom, surrounded by the two things she loved most in the world: old books and fine horses. Her mother made her a voracious reader and skilled rider by encouragement, but her wildness was regarded as a lack of refinement, a trait most expected of a princess. At the age of 7, her father decided to send her beyond the border to the city of Oyatara, to gain the best formal education the fine ranks of nobility may offer. Her mother protested at first, claiming she was better off under the tutelage of the humble vaettir folk, whose volvas would better teach her the intricate ways of galdr and seidr, as well as keep her humble and grounded, far from what she feared to be arrogant and exclusionary education. Her father then agreed to send along a volva preacher to accompany their daughter in Oyatara, so that she may learn and heed both worlds of their natures.
Her education comprised of linguistics, history, arithmetic within the modern institutions, and beyond that, she learns the earthly ways of spells, incantations and old magic from her volva preacher, a woman of sweet wit who quickly becomes her second mother. By the time she approached adolescence, her time spent in the region of the nobles has moulded her into a sophisticated and well-read woman, though her natural penchant for wildness seems to be stamped for eternity into her make-up, for many of her tutors still regard as a troublesome rebel, often chided for her occasional bouts of imprudence and impulsiveness. Despite this, she is scholarly and well-liked by her peers, though some only regard her kindly for her royal blood.
As a quick-witted teenager, her education took a focal turn to language arts as she took a personal interest in the Aesir-Vanir war and the historical colonization of Vanaheim by the Asgardians. This led to a desire to rediscover the roots of her culture, as she understands that her realm now is an amalgam of the two worlds. She took a particular interest in deconstructing the modern Vanir language to its prototherian form, and much of her academic life was dedicated to revising the language, calling it Proto-Vanir. This personal route of hers soon sparked a nationalistic political ideology to restore the original, unalloyed culture of her homeland.
POLITICS AND COURT LIFE
It didn’t take long for a particular bias to be instilled in her, as well as a growing dislike for Asgard, her godfather Odin Allfather, and her Asgard-influenced capital- the city of Umnok Tuman.  She rides back to her capital with her volva every now and then to visit her family, which usually means following them on diplomatic trips to other realms, states, and cities. Her father makes it a point to teach his children about the complex realities of a mobile court. These trips often mean she had to endure the golden palace of Asgardia, and tensions are almost always at an incline whenever the two courts meet. It is, however, generally established, that their relationship is amicable. It is here she has fraternized with the princes of Asgard, and rumours abound of her complex, untold relations with one particular prince ( @sjalfvili). There often times where she has to stay at the Asgardian court and participate in Queen Frigga’s household as a maiden of honour, a position her father favours to elevate her politically with the strongest realm in the nine.
At Asgardian court, upon visitation Sevlyn would be assigned tutors to improve her Asgardian and refine her phonetic understanding of runic descriptions. Frigga is known to have taken a personal approach with the Vanir princess’s education, often indulging the girl in extraneous lessons such as deportment, conversation, dance, and music. She excelled in all areas but was known to be reproachful of her tutors and what she would describe as “ an achingly profuse sense of artifice” amongst her Asgardian counterparts. It would occur to her tutors that Sevlyn, with all her acumen, severely lacked political intelligence.
“The Vanir princess proved in presentation to be a graceful creature replete with nurtured intellect and charming roguery- but more salient that all said qualities combined is her provocative tactlessness that effectively diminishes her favourability at Asgardian court. One may argue that her liberal insistence to identify with her homeland is almost isolationist, dangerous- an outlook poisonous to the controlling nature of Asgardian politics. In this manner, as fair and impartial I can be with judgment, it is most regrettable, but expected, that she will not be the ideal intermediary her father hopes she will be between the sister realms.” ----  Passage extracted from a letter written by relations master Ragnbjorn Olafson to the Vanir ambassador.
Her father tried to arrange for her a debut at pageantry in court in order to attract possible suitors, but her quick-wittedness was, however, considered “a misapplication of talent” to which she asserted that her self-regard “is not subject to the opinions of oafs dressed in gold”.  As a result, her flinty determination was often misconstrued at court, leaving her with little to no political engagements. She did, however, manage to establish close relations with the echelon of commissioned, middle-class artists, incurring the friendship of royal portraitist and printmaker Kafi Dolfrison, as well as academics such as court historian and martyrologist Aisla Alfirrdottir. Despite this, her personal relationship with the queen is known to be respectful and even affectionate. The same sentiment appears to extend to both royal sons, and select members of the court.
THE  JHUN-KAI  CONSPIRACY
(detailed story here)
The deposition of the Hatagin clan from royalty began on a fateful, stormy night in the Yuan Bulganji, a residential palace tucked away in the fringes of the capital meant for formal ceremonies. A celebration had been arranged by the crown to honour the achievements of the Jhunkai Clan, one of the most prominent houses in court serving under the declaration of the Six Banners and the Crown. Unbeknownst to the royal family, a fate-sealing betrayal awaited them.  Over the years, Four (clans) out of Six Banners had grown dissatisfied with the rule of the Hatagin Clan, particularly with the King’s apparent reliance on Asgard and acknowledgment of Odin as the superior, and overseeing ruler of the nine realms. Orchestrated by the Jhunkai Clan, they engaged in a long-running plan to purge all Asgardian identity from the realm, to revise and remake the world as they know it and topple Asgard from their position as Helm of the Nine.
The plot was a success and resulted in a nigh-complete annihilation.  King Ren-Gar and Queen Jo-Au were brutally assassinated in the White Hall of the Bulganji Residence, with the exception of the adolescent crown prince, who survived the ordeal when a palace maid hid him behind the altar. Those who physically engaged in the offense were the armed mercenaries employed by the Azhavat Clan.
Amongst the slaughtered was almost the entirety of the esteemed Hoifa Guard as well as significant members of the Khangai and Ukko clans who chose to remain faithful to the crown.
The orchestration of the assassination, by clever, private collaboration between the Three Banners: Jhunkai, Kofan, and Kadupul, was intentionally pinned on a picture-perfect scapegoat: a group of rogue Asgardian diplomats having bought the military services of the Azhavat, effectively damning and betraying one of their own. The Jhunkai seizes the throne as a result, with Kofan and Kadupul trailing behind as powerful noble houses, second to royalty. The crown prince is decidedly submitted into the custodial care of the Jhunkai, and slowly groomed to become the next King of Vanaheim through their extreme doctrine. While Asgard denounces any involvement with the “rogue Asgardians”, tensions are surely heightened, slowly brewing a second Aesir-Vanir war.
The leaders and employed mercenaries of the Azhavat clan are executed, the women and children exiled from the capital. Asgard is blamed for the deposition and the Vanir are stirred to pursue independence from their Asgardian Protector, Odin Allfather.
Sevlyn was still serving in Asgardian court during this time and by fortune, was spared of the violence. Odin her godfather was now her legal guardian, and it was declared that she was meant to stay within Asgardia. However, the newly crowned boy-king Ral-jagar, her brother, whose reins are unknowingly controlled by the Jhunkai, orders her return. To reduce any further restraint on their relationship, Sevlyn is sent back as desired by the Vanir.
PRESENT DAY
It has been years since the deposition, and Sevlyn, now a fully grown woman, carefully navigates through a den of Vanir wolves in a new court that she barely recognizes. Her brother, the King, whom she is sworn to serve, is invested in the project of completely removing Asgardian influence. While the princess harbours still the same urge to champion her identity and realm independence, her heart is torn between two worlds. Her years at Asgardian court has tempered her prejudice- and she questions the truth she is told back home.

The never ending shelf of WiPs
(Working titles are italicized. this is my attempt at organizing myself. Includes both Original and Fan Works. Post under a cut as this got long real quick...)
Original Works
“Rebel Songs”: November 1920. Dublin, Ireland. A chance meeting brings WW1 veterans Shannon Maxwell and Lawrence Barton together and into a whirlwind romance. Their first problem? Shannon is an IRA soldier and Lawrence works with the RIC Special Reserve. (currently writing random scenes, outlining, and researching)
“iceskating”: Modern day. Somewhere. Danny Reid is hired by Esmé Caldwell - renowned former Olympic Ice Skater and current coach - to help get her protege back into competitive shape. Jason O’Rinn - scarred, intense, and guarded - is just the sort of man Danny should stay away from, but he can’t turn away from fixing broken things, especially when Jason reaches back to heal Danny’s own scars. (I’ve maybe an eighth done of a first draft. fully outlined. need to do research)
“Red Headed Bastards”: [fictional year. fictional city name]. Lauren Lowfey, marked from birth as an outsider by her red hair, is just trying to make a life. One day she gets a package to deliver at the Aesir Castle that sends her life into far more adventure than she ever asked for or wanted. Outside the city, though, forces are moving to make the first moves of Ragnarok. (need to write scenes, need to outline, need to research)
“Chicago History Poetry Zine Series”: Poetry to inform about significant, and some not so significant, details about Chicago history. (have a set written about Camp Douglas, though several are in edit mode. Need to figure out the best way to arrange and publish. constantly in research)
“My Squire, My Knight”: visual novel idea. Arthurian based. the MC is related to a king allied to King Arthur - leaning towards being the youngest son of King Pellinore -  and is assigned to be a squire to one of Arthur’s knights: Sir Kai, Sir Dinadan, Sir Palomides, Sir Galehaut, or Sir Mordred. The course of the final days of Camelot are changed depending on the path and choices of the MC. (have the ideas, outlining, researching)
“Mad Ladies Ghost Stories”: Visual novel idea. MC is a Paranormal Investigator trying to find and free the ghosts of a haunted mental hospital without joining their number herself. Each ghost is of a woman falsely deemed insane and fell victim to the cures of her time. (have ideas, need to outline, need to do more research than one book)
“Crow Merwin”: Fantasy inspired by the French Revolution, but with more figures who are not white, presumed straight men. (idea there. I had notes from a year ago, but lost them. need to recreate notes)
Fan Works
K. J. Charles series
“The Magpie Lord - Script Adaptation”: for Charm of Magpies series. Writing exercise. Is what it says on the tin, just me practicing script writing by adapting The Magpie Lord by K. J. Charles. (in progress)
“Damned Spot”: for Green Men Series/Secret Casebook of Simon Feximel. Simon and Robert resolve the story of a haunted theatre. At one point Robert gets stage blood thrown on him. I get to indulge in how much I love MacBeth. (in planning)
“Elaphromancer”: for Charm of Magpies series. A Jono/Doug AU, where Jonothon “Chamber” Starsmore and Doug “Cypher” Ramsey are remade for existing in the world of Charm of Magpies. Jono is a magician who works as a fire breather and sword swallower for the Hellfire Freak Show and Circus. His life gets infinitely more complicated than it already is when he encounters a runaway autonomous Automaton who insists on having Jono help protect a political fugitive. Then the Justiciary gets involved. (in planning, opening scenes written)
Jordan L. Hawk series

(In planning, first short finished!!, may be a while until the next one, in research)
“Seduced by the Shark-Man”: for Whyborne and Griffin Series. Fishborne AU. Instead of an Umbre, Griffin and Glenn find a shark-man who says his name is “Fire In His Blood”. He got very lost, ended up in fresh water, and would like to go home. But not without first finding out everything he can about land-dwellers. (the idea is there)
“Jono, Doug, and the no good, very bad haunted adventure”: For Spirits Series. A Jono/Doug AU where Jonothon “Chamber” Starsmore and Doug “Cypher” Ramsey are remade for existing in the world of the Spirits books. Doug and Jono are both Mediums. While there he becomes friends with Terry and Maddrox and follows Terry to X-Force. Various relationship entanglements ensue as well as morality questions regarding what X-Force does. (Idea is there)
“Excalibur AU”: Jono/Douglock AU. After exploding, Jono is sent to Muir Island, instead of getting an invite to join Generation X. While there, Douglock befriends him, and (along with Rahne) they begin a romantic relationship that goes rocky when Warlock comes back on the scene. (in planning)
“Savior”: personal/fan essay. tying “Savior” by Rise Against to the wreckage of Jono/Paige. (idea is there)
“Guthrie Family Dinners”: personal/fan essay. the implications of the New Mutants and Generation X staying together/breaking up and the number of times each team gets invited to Guthrie family dinners. Sam regularly takes the New Mutants to Guthrie Family dinners, and they mostly stay together. Paige only ever brings Jono over (once, and not to dinner), and Generation X is never really brought back together. (idea is there)
“Holistic Villains AU”: Jono/Doug AU. Jono is nabbed by Clan Akkaba right after his mutation explodes his body and he’s given the Apocalypse look. Taking on the codename Leviticus, he sets out to assemble his own horsemen and become a new Apocalypse for a new age. His Death is the newly revived Doug Ramsey. (in planning).

Loki: Best Shows to Watch If You’re Missing the God of Mischief
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
The God of mischief might be off in a different timeline prepping for a second season but we still need something to put in our eyes. Assuming you’ve already binged the MCU shows WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we’ve rounded up some other great series that could scratch that Loki-shaped itch. Some of these are spiritually similar, some are great showcases of Loki’s cast and others explore similar themes. All are crackers though and well worth setting your tempad for.
Flowers
This Brit black comedy which aired on Channel 4 in the UK ran for two seasons, each equally special. Is it similar to Loki? Not at face value, but it does feature a stand out turn from Sophia Di Martino who stole the show as female Loki, Sylvie. Written by Will Sharpe, it’s the story of a highly dysfunctional family, with Julian Barrett and Olivia Coleman as parents on the verge of separation and Di Martino and Daniel Rigby as their troubled twins. Flowers is surreal, magical realistic, gothic and often bleak while remaining funny and moving at all times. Not a big world-hopping show like Loki, then, but it does tackle existential crisis head on, and it’ll only make you love Di Martino more. RF
Lovecraft Country
Like many Marvel projects, the Loki TV series has a deep bench of impressive acting talent. One of the most undersung (and honestly underutilized) members of the first season’s cast was Wunmi Mosaku, aka Hunter B-15, who was asked to depict a deep and abrupt change in loyalties over the course of six episodes. Mosaku pulls it off, mostly because she is a phenomenal actress. If you’re looking to see more of her work, look no further than HBO’s Lovecraft Country (but also watch In the Flesh, in which Mosaku plays the Season 2 antagonist), which also features He Who Remains’ Jonathan Majors in the main cast. (A two-fer!) Mosaku plays Ruby Baptiste, a Black singer living in 1950s Southside Chicago in this social horror. Come for Wunmi Mosaku and Jonathan Majors, stay for… Wunmi Mosaku and Jonathan Majors, but also for a TV series that has more supernatural twists than even the most bonkers episode of Loki. KB
Rick and Morty
If your favorite part of Loki was the existence of a thriving multiverse, then we’ve got some good news. Beloved Adult Swim series Rick and Morty (that also admittedly can have an overzealous fandom) is all about the storytelling joy that multiverses can provide. Mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty Smith reside in a plane of infinite universes and therefore infinite possibilities for bizarre adventure. Rick and Morty alum Michael Waldron served as Loki‘s head writer and the writing staff consisted of several more vets of the animated hit. Fans of Loki’s many variants will certainly enjoy encountering the countless versions of Rick, Morty, and their family. Just wait until you meet Lawyer Morty. Look at the little guy go! AB
Doctor Who
Not an original comparison, but one that absolutely stands up. After all, what was Loki episode three if not Doctor Who gifted a Disney budget? Nexus Events, the Sacred Timeline, doomed moons, memory reactivation… almost everything about Loki has one foot in the world of Doctor Who. The Marvel series may have had Time Keepers instead of Time Lords,  variants instead of regenerations, and an alligator in place of… well, which Doctor would be the most likely to eat a cat? (Troughton’s, obviously), but there’s common DNA here. The really good news for the Loki fan who hasn’t already travelled with the Doctor(s) through space and time is that instead of just six episodes, there are roughly 10 billion of them plus novelisations, audio adventures, comic strips, videogames and a TV movie. Allons-y! LM
The Night Manager
Tom Hiddleston’s bum. But also this is an excellent series adapted from the novel of the same name by John le Carré and directed by Oscar winner Susanne Bier. Hiddleston plays Jonathan Pine, manager of a luxury hotel who gets recruited to infiltrate the inner sanctum of Hugh Laurie’s violent and volatile arms dealer. Olivia Colman co-stars once again (Hiddleston, Laurie and Colman all won Golden Globes for their performances) with a supporting role for Elizabeth Debicki which was very much a precursor for her part in Tenet. Post-Night Manager, Hiddleston was top billed to be the next Bond, so given Tenet basically was Bond but on another timeline, and featured time travel as an integral part, Loki and The Night Manager are basically the same show… RF
Timeless
If you wish Loki had been a bit more of a time-hopping procedural, then we have a show for you. Timeless, which aired on NBC for two too-short seasons from 2016-2018, stars Abigail Spencer as Lucy Preston, a historian who gets recruited by a secret department within U.S. Homeland Security in order to stop a mysterious organization that has stolen a time machine. Lucy teams up with scientist Rufus and soldier Wyatt, and the three unlikely bedfellows must learn to work together in high-stakes settings like the Hindenburg, Ford’s Theatre, and the Alamo. Co-created by The Boys showrunner Erik Kripke, Timeless has tons of character-driven twists that make the time travel personal, tying together these characters and settings in unexpected ways. KB
Legion
Loki is such a bold, creative superhero series that it’s hard to imagine that there’s every been anything quite like it. Believe or not – that’s not entirely true! While Loki is one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first big heady sci-fi TV swing, it’s not Marvel’s first overall on television. From 2017 to 2019, Marvel-adjacent property Legion enjoyed a bizarre, colorful three-season run on FX. This series is based on the X-Men character David Haller a.k.a. Legion. Diagnosed with schizophrenia at a young age, David also just happens to be a mutant with nigh-omnipotent powers. This show from Fargo‘s Noah Hawley revels in the strange potential of its premise. Legion is often confusing, but always intriguing. It’s a show that largely replaces superhero battles with dance offs. It’s well worth watching the entire run while you wait for Loki season 2. AB
The OA
Very different to Loki in tone but very similar in head-messing inter-dimensional WTF-ness, The OA is a strange and beautiful beast. If you could follow the Marvel show’s timeline hopping, then you’ve a strong chance of grasping the madness at play in Netflix’s The OA. It starts off as a story about the return of a woman (played by co-creator Brit Marling) who’s been missing for seven years, and ends up as a story about… parallel dimensions, arcane rituals, experimental physics, sci-fi magic and a kind-of-haunted house. It’s a total trip, in short, and should scratch any itch Loki fans are experiencing for TV of the weird variety. Speaking of which, give us season three, Netflix, you cowards. LM
Quantum Leap
Before the TVA there was Doctor Sam Beckett. Played by puppy-faced Scott Bakula, Sam is a scientist who invented a “quantum accelerator” (time machine) that randomly transports him back in time to put right events which once went wrong. In each episode of Quantum Leap, Sam wakes up in the body of someone else at a distinct point in history and has to figure out his mission with the help of his best mate, in hologram form, Al (Dean Stockwell). Sam is essentially maintaining the sacred timeline at the expense of his own life and free will, which would make Al…. Miss Minutes? Either way, it’s a hugely good natured show which ran for five seasons and it’s well worth a visit. RF
Continuum
Continuum protagonist Kiera (Rachel Nichols) has serious Sylvie energy. While they might not have much in common when it comes to their background—Sylvie is trying to take down the time authorities while Kiera, a cop from the corporate-controlled future, is an authority—they’re both incredibly focused women who will do what they have to in order to achieve their goals. Continuum follows Kiera, when she is unexpectedly stranded in our present. Desperate to get back to her family and her life in the future, Kiera teams up with a teen genius, as well as local detective Carlos Fonnegra. Filled with complex character arcs and alternate timelines, Continuum is a must for any fan of time travel TV. KB
Life on Mars
Loki’s crime procedural/time-hopping/fantasy cocktail may have been made famous by Quantum Leap, but it achieved its apotheosis (that’s right, five syllables, count ‘em) in BBC One’s Life on Mars. That’s the story of Sam Tyler (John Simm), a Manchester police officer who’s hit by a car in 2006 and wakes up in 1973. Like Loki, Tyler has to piece together what’s really going on behind-the-scenes while running his own investigations. Tyler may not be a God, or have magical powers and other planets to visit, but Life on Mars still took him to some odd and captivating places. It ended prematurely after two seasons (at the request of Simm, who said he wanted to spend more time with his family), after which the tale continued with sequel Ashes to Ashes starring Keeley Hawes. Currently, plans are afoot for a belated third series. LM
