i think cbeeduos relationship is starting to be flanderized just a little bit. like idk how to explain it but cbeeduo were friends first yknow? i think there needs to be like. a healthy dose of recognizing that cbeeduo arent really a couple that were romantic from the start + have an inherent tragic element to their relationship

not to say i dont like fanwork that explores the idea of them having crushes on each other in nlm but i do think its important to still have a heavier focus on their genuine friendship that strengthened their relationship later on, rather than using romance to strengthen their friendship, if that makes sense

tubbo trusted ranboo out of a belief that he was a loyal Friend, ranboo wanted to be there for tubbo because he wanted to be Friends, he was worried that he destroyed their friendship over everything after being outed as a traitor. even when they hide their marriage theres still a truth to the fact that theyre good friends who know each other relatively well and have a history together

exploring romance is fun and all but at the core of the dream smp i feel like the driving kind of relationship is. friendship. family and partners are important too, but overall i think friendship has been and still is the most important. and thats especially true with cbeeduo like. theres a reason so many cbeeduo fans are arospec

honestly, that’s so fair… i’m just essentially ranting about it… that being said 👀👀 i just think that fanfiction should be seen as a more viable form of media… and it just gets such a bad rap because the bad ones get popular and become the figure heads… my immortal-esque and cringy one direction wattpad fanfiction are such a small portion of all fanfiction but that’s all the general public sees… and it sucks because it stigmatises such an amazing learning tool and form of art!!

You've been reblogging more stuff about female characters getting ignored by fandoms recently and I would be really curious to hear your full views on the topic.

The thing is that... look. I get it. Many fandoms do not have very many women in their canon, many of those women are treated pretty poorly by the canon or aren't given as much depth as their male peers, and if you're at all picky the pickings are kind of slim (I would love to be a fan of c!Niki, if I were able to watch six-hour vods, which I am not). It is not wrong that most works with large fandoms are really, really sexist, and the problem is not just in the fanbase!

But come the fuck on. It is not an accident that the DSMP and the MCU and BNHA, all of which are vast-majority male and the female characters are treated terribly, are megafandoms, and Revolutionary Girl Utena is eligible for yuletide. It is not wrong that if you want to see more female-character-focused fanwork you should go to Sailor Moon and not The Untamed, but it is also kind of missing the point to say that and not look at the difference in size between those fandoms. People can say "it's because the male characters are so often more interesting and have more meaningful interactions," and like, sometimes that's even true, I will be the first to tell you that quackbur has more to it than tinarose, but please compare the Clint/Coulson tag to the Utena/Anthy tag and look me in the eye and tell me that's the only thing driving the trend. With a straight face.

And even more there's a thing where— so, I was a mod in the @ao3topshipsbracket bracket. And femslash ships, once they were in the bracket, did really well. Like, absurdly well, like 80% of the f/f ships entered got to the top 16, and the last one was against blackbonnet which was never gonna lose in round 1. You might notice something about that number, though, which is that there were only five of them entered total, because people love to vote for femslash but they absolutely will not write it. And they won't say anything about it either! I was watching the activity feed the entire tournament, and I can tell you, for all of the "let's go lesbians" that populated our notes, nobody would say anything that was actually about the specific characters who made up their ship. I learned a lot about Naruto fandom, modding that bracket; I still know nothing about CW Supergirl, because the only thing anyone would say about it is "it has women in it". Because women are interchangeable. Because women are avatars of Being A Good Feminist. Because clicking a button is easy, and actually thinking about any specific woman and her traits and her internality is hard.

The thing is that guilt over misogyny does not actually fix misogyny. It gets you a lot of people who vote for women in polls, and who say "he's like a woman to me" about their male faves but notably don't have any canonically female characters they talk about, and who say that the only thing they care about in a fic is if it has women in it but will not ever actually say anything about any specific woman, and who never shut up about yuri but apparently yuri is everything and anything except women who have feelings about one another.

I'm tired! I'm very tired. I want people to actually give a shit about specific women and their specific traits, which do not begin and end with "woman". And, also, to stop treating women exclusively as the wingmen, advice-givers, mom figures, and accessories of men.

Okay so I know many of us are grieving and angry right now, and for those of us who follow QSMP we're experiencing like the second instance of this in two months (three if you count Cellbit's letter), and for those of us who follow DSMP/SMPEarth we're dealing with someone who is very central to a story that is beloved to us having been revealed to be a person we don't want to spend our time on. However, I would really like to caution people against some of the rhetoric that I've seen on the dash.

Be really cautious about posting things like "all men are abusers" or "kill all men" or "no man can be trusted".

I understand emotionally being in that place, but that is rhetoric that generally we want to avoid because it is TERF shit. Like literally that is TERF rhetoric. A central facet of TERF ideology is that all men are evil oppressors and abusers who desire to do women harm and women keep safe by banding together and isolating from men.

This is bad because TERFs extend this to say that trans women can never be real women because they're inherently men (evil, oppressors) which is obviously transphobia, but it's also bad because it says that men can never be abused and women can never be oppressors because men are inherently the ones with power and women are inherently the ones acted on by that power. And it's also shitty to trans men. And it divides the world into a male/female dichotomy of power that ignores other genders and ignores power dynamics along things like race, class, nationality, disability, and language.

Posting "no men can be trusted" and "kill all men" is the sort of thing that is really uncomfortable to see on my dash, and it's really unkind to the trans men, and survivors of abuse by women and other genders, and masculine survivors of abuse that you know are on your dash.

I understand the rage and the uncertainty and the betrayal, but dividing the world into a simplistic class of people who do the abuse and people who are abused, and we can identify that by their gender identity is not helpful, and it also just stokes us into rage circles where we could be focusing on supporting victims instead.

Please. Go watch SOS SMP. Make a pot of tea. Go look at the crocuses that are blooming now. Donate money to your local domestic violence and homeless shelters. Stop putting actual TERF talking points on my dash.

Would c!Technoblade be an avatar of the Hunt or the Slaughter?

I could see an argument made for either, and honestly I think it depends on what aspects of his character you want to highlight.

The best arguments for the Hunt comes from the DSMP, where he’s specifically stated to only really wants to kill those who pose a threat to humanity as a whole (ie: his belief that all governments will become tyrannical and will only cause harm in the long run) or those who have hurt him and/or his allies (“Those who have treated me with kindness? I will repay that kindness tenfold. And those that treat me with injustice, that used me, that hunt me down, that hurt my friends? I shall repay that injustice a thousand times over.). It could be argued that he rarely, if ever, kills people for no reason. He also has the animal association with his hound army (and by being a pig).

The best arguments for the Slaughter comes from his reputation in MCC, MCM, and similar pvp focused games/servers. His ability to enter a battle outnumbered and outgunned and still come out the other side victorious cannot be understated. Anyone facing him in battle knows to be afraid. In any game where he is on a team, he almost always has the highest kill count, sometimes more than his entire team combined. No one can dispute the amount of blood on his hands, all of it gained with a laugh and a cheer.

Also Chat could be argued to be the call of either the Hunt or the Slaughter, although the phrase “blood for the blood god” does feel more Slaughter leaning to me.

ok here is a disjointed jumble of thoughts. it’s taken me a couple days to come to terms with the situation. but i will no longer be supporting wilbur. besides the numerous obvious hints shelby dropped, if it wasn’t him, she would have said something by now to prevent false accusations. believing it was wilbur is not baseless speculation as much as it is critical thinking about what shelby could and couldn’t say.

it’s not like i really watched him anymore in the first place so not much will change here. it still hurts a lot. i wish i could feel angry. instead im just incredibly sad. for shelby, for other abuse victims who thought they could trust him, for all of his fans who looked up to him.

remember that there is no way we could have known. anyone who says they would have/could tell has a moral superiority complex. there is no secret code to identifying who is a good vs bad person because there is no such thing as a solely “good” or “bad” person. we saw wilbur do lots of good things over the last few years. that’s we why we trusted him. that doesn’t negate the bad things he has also done.

tommy and phil’s reactions remain to be seen. if they do anything. i will probably still reblog fanart but it’ll be focused on smp characters and not ccs.

i also want to say: please don’t let this man ruin dsmp for you. the characters and story, especially from early on, are hugely important to people and if we have to rip them from the creators’ dead hands so be it. forget the authors. we made the fandom. we enabled the story. we made it good. our creativity, our passion, our love and excitement and joy were and are the core of what makes dsmp good. nothing can change that.

The QSMP focuses so hard on roleplay because that kind of content is popular and fuels fandoms. Quackity understands how successful it can be from his time on the DSMP. It attracts the really diehard kind of audience that will likely get deeply invested in it, create a fandom around it, and stick with it long term. It's not really about "uniting" anyone lol, it's about ensuring the maximum engagement possible, making money, staying clouted, and maintaining a brand.

This wouldn't be inherently bad if the marketing and PR for this server wasn't so centered around it "revolutionizing the global content creation space" (gag) and "uniting" communities, which is obviously disingenuous to anyone paying attention.

Heads up: This post is related to the Shubble and cc!Will topic. Basically, this post outlines how the rest of my content will go here on out.

Just some updates about how my future Dsmp Rewritten/Healing AU-related content will go!

Upon hearing the news, I felt that it would be more appropriate to start giving the AU its own identity. I’ve been wanting to give it its own name to somewhat set it apart from canon DSMP? Just so people know that I’ll be focusing more on developing that storyline and characters to make it stand out from the canon. (It’s still related to DSMP of course, and would still have the characters from that fandom. I just think it would be nice to give it its own identity.)

In terms of drawing c!Will, she has and will always stay completely separated from the actual content creator, as it had always been with the other characters! I love her dearly and I’m not quite sure if I’m ready to let go of my interest for the characters + AU just yet. I’ll still continue to draw the characters (SMP characters and Bursonas), just not anything for the actual real life guy.

I considered giving c!Will another alternative name, Willow, which I thought sounded nice. :] I wouldn’t consider the characters my OCs yet? I feel like the AU needs time to kind of build itself and grow to really stand out as “original”.

At this point in time, the news has pushed me to try and span out to different interests. Not just developing the AU into its own thing to stand out of DSMP, but most likely delving into other interests and making fanart for a wider variety of fandoms. It’s very difficult to let go of my old interests though; this is an interest that I’ve held dearly to my heart for years, and I doubt I’ll fully quit making things for it in the future. I just feel like this might mark a different direction for my art going forward. For sure I won’t stop drawing fanart for it, but things are surely just going to feel different. I won’t be using any cc!Will tags, only tags related to his character.

The situation at this point in time is super stressful for a whole lot of me and my friends. If anyone needs context, I’m not sure if I can give the best insight on what happened or explain it properly. I highly suggest reading about it from other folks instead.

Hey y’all, I’m making a quick post about sootbur/sootcest/bursonas just because I wanted to talk about it as a fandom, because people have a tendency to misjudge what it is and that often leads to hate and it can get really nasty.

First off, it is a character-centric* fandom. It mostly follows consistent characters put on by ccWilbur (though occasionally we do latch onto one off bits). These characters have no resemblance to their creator besides occasionally looks, but it is really popular in the fandom to alter their heights and looks and to further differentiate them and for fun. 

They are NOT ccWilbur unless specifically stated, and that distinction is important. To say they are him is like saying ccTommy and cTommy are the same person, or Ranboo in Genloss is the same person as ccRanboo.

They are characters put on by an actor, ccWilbur is not a murderer, a misogynist, or a zombie. (We hope.)

*There are people who include ccWilbur in their sootbur, of course, but I personally haven’t run into them in the tumblr sootbur fandom as it is bursona focused in ships. I think it would be unfair to paint this side of the fandom as rpf writers.

Second off, fandom is for the fans, acting like otherwise is a bit silly.

There is a need in the MCYT fandom (especially the DSMP side) to make sure everything is approved of by content creators, is “ok” with their boundaries. Sootbur is just for us though, how Wilbur feels about it really doesn’t matter as he will never really know about it unless you go and tell him.

Yes, he knows about the bursona side of the fandom and has interacted with it on twitter, but sootbur is, once again, for fans! It exists only in extremely small pockets in fan communities. Content creators do not and should not be heavily involved with these communities imo. This is common place in nearly every fandom.

Sootbur isn’t hurting anyone, it is just a silly set of ships. There’s no need to treat it like its somehow so much worse than DSMP ships like eretbur or fundbomb. Those ships also exist without “permission”.

Sure, maybe to you it inexplicably yucks your yums, but rather than jumping to the ship being the problem and harassing folks I implore you to consider why. Because the answer “just because its weird,” isn’t a good justification. 

This fandom is a community space, and on tumblr, is almost entirely sfw. It is not hurting anyone and is just a group of people being passionate about a specific creator’s/actor’s characters.
