Note
how do you think usagi-chan will react when receiving his first warm, comforting embrace? dead corpse friendsies are cool and all but they are cold and can't really talk, so how about his first alive friend or lover-to-be :'D
This is such a cute request. Give me your hand in marriage rn 😳🤌🏻💍
Rabbit gets hugged
Usagi has deeeeffffinitely tried to kill you before, that’s just how it is when a person hangs around Usagi
Killing for Usagi is like finding money on the street, it’s free real estate friendship/servitude
However, if you’re wily and or immortal and still occupy the same space as Usagi willingly or even unwillingly for whatever reason, Usagi will get attached
Literally in my perception of Usagi once you pass a, frankly long, threshold of time you could just absolutely hate him, yell at him, whatever and Usagi considers you his closest friend lol
You could say “I hate your fucking guts. Die.” and he’s like “haha! Quit teasing me! :D”
Anytime you touch him Usagi gets really quiet and stares at your touching skin, even if you’re just standing next to him with your arm lightly brushing his
You obviously pick up on this, he’s not subtle.
“Usagi come here.”
He quite literally drops what he’s doing, there’s a shattering sound from the next room and then he’s next to you, waiting expectantly
You pull him in without a word and wrap your arms around him in what you hoped was a warm hug
“Oh”
Unbelievable. You go out of your way to express your affection and he’s stiff as a board. Absolutely rigid in your arms.
You huff and wrap his arms around you yourself. He snaps out of it and hugs you back so tight, you couldn’t escape if you tried
He holds you in his arms with his face tucked into your neck, you can’t see his face from your position but his visible ear is a cute shade of pink
The two of you fit together so perfectly, it’s soft and warm and it’ll last as long as you want it to. You practically have to pry him off of you when you decide you’ve had enough

Japanese Monkey God
User @red-lights-burning asked if there was a connection between Sun Wukong and the monkey gods of Japan. They provided lovely info, which was split between two asks, but I decided to put everything together into a single post.
@red-lights-burning asked: Japan has their own monkey protector named Masaru AKA Sannō Gongen, who was created back in the early 9th century by Tendai Buddhist sect founder Saichō shortly after he returned from China. So it makes me think if Monkey King was already a thing in the 800’s and if he was one of the inspirations for Masaru. A description from onmarkproductions (a really great site for anyone curious about Japanese Buddhism and Shintō) MASARU 神猿 Literally “Kami Monkey.” Masaru is the sacred monkey and protector of the Hie Shrine (aka Hie Jinja 日吉神社, Hiyoshi Taisha 日吉大社). The term “Masura” is often translated as “excel,” reflecting the belief that this sacred monkey can overcome all obstacles and prevail against all evil. Masaru is thus considered a demon queller par excellence (魔が去る・何よりも勝る). In the Heian era, Masaru (also translated “Great Monkey”) was invoked in Kōshin rituals to stop the three worms from escaping the body. Masaru also appears in Japanese scrolls used in Koushin rites. Here’s a couple other descriptions SANNŌ GONGEN 山王 権現 SARUGAMI 猿神 Fertility, Childbirth & Marriage Monkeys are patrons of harmonious marriage and safe childbirth at some of the 3,800 Hie Jinja shrines in Japan. These shrines are often dedicated to Sannō Gongen 山王権現 (lit. = mountain king avatar), who is a monkey. Sannō is the central deity of Japan’s Tendai Shinto-Buddhist multiplex on Mt. Hiei (Shiga Prefecture, near Kyoto). The monkey is Sannou’s Shinto messenger (tsukai 使い) and Buddhist avatar (gongen 権現). The monkey messenger is also known as Sarugami (猿神; literally “monkey kami”). Sarugami is the Shinto deity to whom the three monkeys (hear, speak, see no evil) are reportedly faithful. The monkey shrine at Nakayama Shrine 中山神社 in Tsuyama City, Okayama Prefecture, is dedicated to a red monkey named Sarugami, who blesses couples with children. According to shrine legends, the local people at one time offered human sacrifices (using females) to this deity. The shrine is mentioned in the Konjaku Monogatari-shu (今昔物語集), a collection of over 1000 tales from India, China, and Japan written during the late Heian Period (794-1192 AD). Sarugami, like Sannou Gongen, is also worshipped as the deity of easy delivery and child rearing. At such shrines, statues of the monkey deity are often decked in red bibs -- a color closely associated with fertility, children, and protection against evil forces and diseases like smallpox.
My answer:
I've read only a little bit about Japanese monkey gods. I previously referenced Sarugami in my article about the possible shamanic origins of primate-based boxing in China. Part of footnote #14 reads:
In Japan, monkeys were also associated with horses and healing via the warding of evil. Apart from monkeys being kept in stables like their Chinese counterparts, their fur was applied to the harnesses and quivers of Samurai because the warriors believed it gave them more control over their mounts. Furthermore, monkey body parts have been consumed for centuries as curative medicines, and their hides have even been stuffed to make protective amulets (kukurizaru) to ward off illness. Likewise, a genre of painting depicts divine monkeys (saru gami), messengers of the mountain deity, performing Da Nuo-like dances to ensure a good rice harvest (Ohnuki-Tierney, 1987, pp. 43-50)
The aforementioned article suggests a connection between monkeys and the Shang-Zhou Da Nuo (大儺 / 難; Jp: Tsuina, 追儺) ritual, an ancient, war-like, shamanic animal dance designed to drive away demonic illness and influences. The pertinent section reads:
It’s possible that the “twelve animals” of the Da Nuo exorcism refer to some precursor of the Chinese zodiacal animals (rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig). If true, monkey fur could have been among the animal products worn by the ritual army. After all, monkeys have long been associated with curing illness and expelling evil in East Asia. [14] A modern example of exorcists who don monkey fur are the shamans of the Qiang ethnic group of Sichuan. The Qiang worship monkeys as the source and savior of their sacred knowledge, as well as the progenitor of their people, the latter being a myth cycle common among ethnic groups of Tibet and southwestern China.
This is the only relevant info that comes to mind. But based on what I know, I would guess that Sun Wukong and the monkey gods of Japan draw upon the same cultural sources. I hope this helps.

Marinette's Elemental and Miraculous Matches (Zodaic)
Tumblr media
Wu Xing, Bagua
Being of Wood and Metal, of the Zodiac, Marinette is set to thrive with Leopard, Rabbit, Monkey, and Rooster.
Leopard can play into Marinette's meddling nature, her elusiveness, precision, and her interest in working with thread. Like any cat, Leopard thrives as being a stealthy ambusher, catching targets off guard and throwing a monkey wrench in their agenda as the user can puppeteer them. Marinette would swiftly use this to restrain her opponents, and be a means to string people along and get them out of safety. She may not like the implications of fully physically controlling anyone, but she would use it well to secure it's used well and efficiently.
Roaar would be delighted in Marinette's confidence and cunning, she'd be the ideal leopard, knowing when her presence needs to be known and when it's time to be hidden. She would though work on Marinette's tolerance level with others, especially when wronged. When someone strikes with the intent to hurt/upset, it means war, it's not to be tolerated and let go, and if Marinette's to be discouraged from fighting back upfront, there are stealthy ways around that.
Rabbit plays off Marinette's energy, her swiftness, elusiveness, and even her multitasking capability. With super speed, Marientte will be delighted and thriving to get all done that she wants to get done, it also works off her flexibility in the field, evading her opponents and working off any opportunities she sees. Rabbit also works off her observation skills, for an eye for detail is required to take in everything around her before she zips past it.
Fluff would work well with Marinette, being gentle and bubbly, if a little flighty. Fluff does encourage productivity, and would have an appreciation for the arts and encourage Marinette's artisan interests. She would work with Marinette's preference to be busy, and help her learn to focus her energy for most productivity. Fluff herself is also a trickster, and if Marinette is ever dealing with anyone she can't be upfront with, she'll be quick to help Marinette learn how to outsmart and outrace her enemies.
Monkey is a Miraculous Marinette can pull off well as she is someone who rolls with and rides the chaos, and for a sporadic power of shapeshifting into animals or altering the size of her or the staff, this delivers Marinette the diversity in capability that she would thrive with. The extra nice thing is this power is incredibly flexible in it's use, allowing Marinette to act as she desires, whether she goes stealthy or toes the line of being a little more direct.
Xuppu has a lot of the same appeal as Plagg when paired with Marinette, for he also would eagerly roll with the chaos of her thought process and relish the shenanigans. Unlike Plagg, Xuppu would be much blunter and direct with his thoughts, keeping Marinette on her toes with his temper, impishness, and energy. He would work with Marinette to learn that fun matters too, and she shouldn't be stressing over others or duties all the time. Also, if dealing with something unfair, he'll be furious, and stress to her that this is not ok nor should it be something she tolerates/let's go. He'd readily scheme with her in doing petty pranks back to her enemies.
Rooster works off her creativity, ingenuity, quick and elaborate thinking. It works off her liking things to go a certain way, but able to be flexible and adjust. It also works off her eye for detail, thinking outside of the box, and figuring out what to write out for each singular rule.
Orikko is bold and cocky, he has a charisma and eagerness that Marinette can work off of, though his head may be a tad too big at times, but he does insist upon her own value and self-pride and worth. To not be afraid to state her opinion and to stick to her guns. He would engage her her creativity, relish to to see her thought process and how she structures things, working with chaos.
Of the Zodiac, Marinette is viable for Mouse, Ox, Carp, Snake, Horse, Goat, Dog, and Pig. Some of the Earth based Zodiac she may even be better paired with, as the Earth acts as the in between the other four elements and echoing some of those elements. The Earth Zodiac are set up to be best-viable for her. She'll pull them off well but there may be some struggle or something not clicking right away between power or kwami.
Mouse works off Marinette as a team player and her multitasking. Largely, biggest appeal is that it works off her strengths of working on the fly, working with others, and able to cover a various of tasks. And when you have a team of Marinette on the same page, all able to work off the same complex idea, you have a very scary force to face.
Mullo being mischievous and liking to startle and prank her humans for fun would keep Marinette on her toes (much like Xuppu), and luckily Marinette can roll with this chaotic little imp. Mullo would also encourage Marinette to keep working off her intellect, and also to push for her to prioritize herself, as Rats aim for success, any means necessary. Only big issue between these two is that Mullo would recommend sabotages against her competition that would go too far, much farther than Marinette would like (which Marinette isn't one for sabotaging, but she may be up for pranks and underhanded tactics to slight against those who go too far and deserve it). Mullo also does think Marinette is a little too soft.
Ox works off Marinette's strong resolve, determination, and ambition. With how determined and motivated she can be, she'll be one of the strongest Oxes and solid invulnerability. Only slight is that this is meant to be a powerhouse Miraculous to be tanking hits and hitting hard back. As Marinette isn't one for confrontation in fights, not entirely up her alley, but would make it work.
Stompp would be delighted with Marinette's strong sense of responsibility, her big heart for others, and how determined and ambitious she is. These are all traits Stompp likes his humans to have. Only thing to bother him is that Marinette's not one to let her anger out and openly challenge her opponents, that is something he would push for her to do.
Carp is a Miraculous that doesn't quite click with how Marinette likes to function, with it being designed to be a powerhouse and overwhelm opponents. Marinette though prefers to toe the line, which her draconic form will consider, designed more for speed and evasiveness, so there is something there for her to work off of. And her element, air, will be well used as air isn't as quickly harming as the others, and she would use it to blow back opponents or means of deflection. Not the best fit right away, but she would make it work.
Longg being patient, formal, and calm, he's a kwami Marinette can work off well, and would have the perks to be the calm and source of logic against any of Marinette's spirals. And if Longg starts to ramble away, Marinette would have the patience to let the kwami get him words out. Longg is a kwami who likes to urge his humans to discover and let loose their hidden potential, and Marinette would be a human Longg would be excited for, seeing the inner strength that Marinette's easing out. She just needs help to fully let it loose and to thrive.
Snake works off Marinette's subtlety, creativity, her tendency to prefer to control the outcome of things, and her elusiveness and tendency to dabble in trickery/underhanded tactics. As hypnosis can be more than having full control over someone, it can be it's own unique illusion, her means of warping how people perceive reality through music, and can allow her to move about unseen. This power is meant to be used for means of full control (playing off Fire's tendency to overwhelm and seeking positions of command), so Marinette's not one to fully use the power as meant to, it'd be rare and saved for extremes where she must have full control over someone.
Sass is set up to be a kwami to work well off Marinette, being calm, wise, and flexible. He'd be similar to Plagg in being vague in his advise, preferring humans to figure things out and come to their own conclusions, though he would be manipulative like Trixx, good with his words to influence their thought process and actions. While benevolent, he can be morally gray, and does adjust his guidance depending on what sort of human he's dealing with. A human that's eager to control others he's going to advise against, though one reluctant to take control is someone he's going to sway to be more open to it, and Marinette would be one he'd bring up the perks of having full control over others (like hypnotizing Lila to make a fool of herself, or getting Chloe to actually be a good person). Sass would wind up Marinette's little shoulder devil, who can sound tempting and is reasonable in his suggestions, but also toes the line of what's morally right for Marinette.
Horse similar to Rabbit, Horse works off Marinette's mobility, evasiveness, eye for detail, awareness of her surroundings, and liking to hop around her opponents, keeping them on their toes while she maneuvers around them. This can work off her multitasking, making use of portals to hurry to where she needs to or grabbing what she needs. It's one of those powers where it's Marinette's dream boat. One of her favorite powers.
Kaalki would be an interesting pair with Marinette as she has a personality similar to Chloe, being an open elitist and the snobbiest of the kwamis. Chances are good the two do clash here and there, between Kaalki being picky about who Marinette lets into her herd, to Marinette's background or living situation not being up to her standards. On the more positives, Kaalki would acknowledge Marinette's strong potential for stardom, and do what she can to guide Marinette to the greatness they both deserve, Kaalki would also be pleased with Marinette's noble heart, integrity, and natural instincts as a hero. Biggest thing Kaalki would do is to try and help raise Marinette's standards and help achieve her full potential, even if it means butting heads in disagreements.
Goat expertly plays off Marinette's creativity and quick thinking, and her having high ambitious for herself to achieve. It is flexible in use and can allow her to be elusive and out of sight, make her plans, and make use of her essentially making physical illusions. They may not wind up as real as Fox's, but there are perks to the physicality of them that Marinette will use well.
Ziggy is eager and creative and friendly, so she'll work off Marinette very well, engage in her creative thinking and artistic skills. She can be brash and thoughtless though, which sensitive Marinette and take to heart, and has a tendency of (affectionately) ramming her head against her humans. Being more for independence and self-reliance, Ziggy doesn't fully understand Marinette's needs to be considerate and helpful to others, and sees it as needlessly busying herself. She'll support however she can if it really matters to Marinette, but will try to urge Marinette to focus more on herself.
Dog works off Marinette's thieving habit, but also her desire to provide and help. She would be very active as the Dog, using it help all who's lost or had lost items they want back, probably to the point she may over help. She would also be quick to use this power to help bring back anyone who passes very recently, and may frequent hospitals. Honestly, this power feeds a lot into her nature, and could turn these strengths into flaws and risk developing an Atlas complex. Side note, if this power is what Marinette used against HM, he'd probably be a broken man between Fetch and Marinette's eye for detail, getting that item within minutes of her joining the field.
Barkk is a kwami who knows how to toe the line between hard work and duty, but also times of play and fun. Barkk is a kwami who will adjust herself and what she advises depending on the human, so with Marinette, she's not going to discourage that strong sense of responsibility Marinette has, but will try to urge Marinette to take breaks, have fun, and let loose. Potentially it's a hard concept for Marinette to grasp (as her fun involves being productive and delving into her interests), so the mindless fun Barkk insists on may not click with her right away.
Pig is an interesting match up as the power to alter who someone is I don't see being up Marinette's moral alley. But I can see her using it as a means to give boosts to others to help get past what they're struggling with, having her act as a small Guardian Angel giving that little boost/push in the right direction. And even if temporary, the effects may stick and help someone grow past those issues. Juleka's struggling with confidence and not being heard? A slight adjustment to her color to make her more red, and she's a lot more confident and outspoken. She would also use it as a means to disrupt akumas, altering who someone is so what's upset them doesn't upset them as much, throwing off HM's game. And if she's petty or fed up enough, she may use it as the extremes on Chloe and Lila (get them to stop bullying/lying), though that can toe some dangerous territory. Pig can also work off Marinette's preference to be more a background user who doesn't have the primary attention on her, and allow her to be clever in how she uses this power, and will make it work to be the most beneficial to majority. Though I can see her toeing taking things too far or getting too involved.
Daizzi would immediately click with Marinette, finding her cute, loving that her color is pink, that she loves pink, and she's so clever and observant, what a promising Pig. He is very empathetic and always has a good sense on what to advise when dealing with emotional problems. Similar appeal to Plagg and Valrr, as bubbly and optimistic as Daizzi is, he is also incredibly lazy, and if given the chance, will spend his days napping and snacking, and would do what he can to help Marinette slow down, enjoy her time, and not work herself so hard.

The Deadlords / 十二人の魔将
The Deadlords refers to twelve undead warriors first serving under the Loptrians of Jugdral in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War and Thracia 776, and were commanded by Validar and the Grimleal millennia later in Fire Emblem: Awakening. The title is rather straightforward; the Deadlords are the most powerful of the Risen, so them being referred as the lords of the dead denotes their strength.
The individual Deadlords are called Mus, Bovis, Tigris, Lepus, Draco, Anguilla, Equus, Ovis, Simia, Gallus, Canis and Porcus. These names invoke the Chinese Zodiac Animals, using Latin-based words to refer to the Mouse/Rat, Bull/Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat/Ram, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig/Boar, respectively. The use of these names are likely derived from an old Chinese tale on how the Zodiac Animals were assigned. It is said that the Jade Emperor, the first god, wanted to see the creatures of the earth after ruling from Heaven without ever visiting Earth. The twelve animals that came to the gates of Heaven to see the Jade Emperor were given years to represent. A near-identical story is found in Buddhism, in which Siddhartha Gautama asked all animals to come to him before he ascended from Earth, but only twelve arrived. This could relate to the subservience of the Deadlords to Loptous/Julius/Validar.
In Japanese, the Deadlords are called 十二人の魔将 (rōmaji: jūniri no mashō) or 十二魔将 (rōmaji: jūni mashō), literally meaning "Twelve Demon Generals". This name comes from the Twelve Heavenly Generals (十二神将, rōmaji: jūni shinshō). In many East Asian forms of Buddhism, the Twelve Heavenly Generals are twelve yaksha, a type of guardian deity, that serve the buddha of healing and medicine, Bhaisajyaguru. Much like the name localizations of the individual members, the name seems to be based on the relationship between the Deadlords and their superior. The Twelve Heavenly Generals have also traditionally been associated with the Zodiac Animals, likely inspiring the English localization.
The individual members of the Deadlord share a different naming pattern in Japanese; they are instead called アインス (rōmaji: ainsu), ツヴァイ (rōmaji: tsuvai), ドライ (rōmaji: dorai), フィーア (rōmaji: fīa), フュンフ (rōmaji: fyunfu), ゼクス (rōmaji: zekusu), ズイーベン (rōmaji: zīben), アハト (rōmaji: ahato), ノイン (rōmaji: noin), ツェーン (rōmaji: tsēn), エルフ (rōmaji: erufu) and ツヴェルフ (rōmaji: tsuverufu). These correspond to the first twelve numbers in the German language: eins, zwei, drei, vier, fünf, sechs, sieben, acht, neun, zehn, elf and zwölf. Beyond the obvious connection of there being twelve Deadlords, the names relate to the German-based naming scheme in various military organizations in Jugdral, such as the Weiss Ritter of Belhalla, the Lance Ritter of Leonster, or the Welkenrosen of the Loptr Church. It could also be interpreted that by numbering the Deadlords, it dehumanizes the lives that had their bodies stolen for the Deadlords' use.

Miracle Boxes - The True Generation
These are the second iteration of the Miracle Boxes, and the generation that lasted the longest, stretching out for several thousand years. The Miraculouses within these boxes are very similar to the generation before, save for many kwamis of the Mage Box being divided out among the other boxes of the world, and the Mage Box being hidden away as the Secret Box.
During this time kwamis were free to chose their own holders, and spent more time out in the world than in their Miracle Boxes. Guardians were protectors of kwamis in their dormant state, but were not wardens of them. Kwamis would often travel far from their boxes and across the world, acting as protectors where they felt they were needed.

HEIGHT : gosh it's been so long since i checked lmao 5'2'' or 5'3'' depending on how delusional i'm feeling (most likely somewhere in between tbh)
HOBBIES : reading, singing, LEARNING LANGUAGES i agree so hard- listen, Ferre, learning languages is so much fun, i'm beating the SHIT out of that owl (yes i use duolingo i love the colours lmao so Dutch, Korean, Mandarin, and Vietnamese on the stupid owl, i actually added the Vietnamese course recently after trying to wish Ferre a happy new year's so YES PEOPLE, make FRIENDS, they will evoke INTERESTS in you~), writing ofc, cooking...?? does that count, i recently found i like cooking idk
FAVORITE COLOR : no idea i just really like pastel colours yknow? or simply nothing too saturated
FAVORITE BOOK : pandora hearts & trimax >:3333 (but also the martian and this is how you lose the time war and idk)
LAST SONG : mother knows best from the tangled soundtrack, for the singing hobby KLDFJHGKLFHL
LAST FILM / SHOW : the prince of egypt and... =.= is last show last show i completed? bc... idk season 1 of the mdzs donghua?????
RECENT READS : gosh lmao okay i'm reading a lot of things at once so i hope this is about 'completed' reads uhm... volume 13 of detective conan???? last BOOK i finished was the martian by andy weir
INSPIRATION : everything everywhere all at once (not the movie, i haven't finished it yet KLDFJJJJJDKLGJ gosh that's silly) no seriously anywhere i can take it from, mostly listening to music will do or checking out aesthetics, so... yeah~
STORY BEHIND URL :  i used to use my interest and knowledge on norse mythology as defining Thing about me lmao but tbh just mythologies and folklore as a whole really always intrigue me? the blood and soul of cultures i dare say~ and 'voiced' is a play on how muns/typist usually add 'penned by' or 'written by' [mun-name] so the idea i believe was a blog voiced by myths which i guess works just well enough considering how rare a non-supernatural muse is on ye olde mythvoiced
FUN FACT ABOUT ME : i have pretty good eye-sight, the best in my family actually, but that's also because theirs is just... poor straight-up, BUT i guess to balance it out i am NOT very good at?? idk figuring out which directions sounds are coming from? like i can hear regularly well (except for some processing issues tbh) but gosh i have literally wondered where breathing is coming from before realizing it's ME

Touhou 19 talk and predictions.。.:*☆
Well well well.. He finally announced it! Touhou Juuouen ~ Unfinished Dream of All Living Ghost's demo will be released May 7th during the 20th Reitaisai. Predictions under Read More!
Story.
So first of all, UDoALG (one long acronym lmao) will be a direct sequel to WBaWC and UM, which is pretty cool! Looks like WBaWC will follow MoF and LoLK as one of the domino effect games.
The story is about animal spirits trying take Gensokyo over, basically? The story summary says "As a result of the markets opening up, all ownership of the ancient land has returned to nothing.", which probably means Chimata's ability affected the whole land. Gonna take a wild guess and say that the animals of Gensokyo and Animal Realm are pretty much having turf wars over certain areas of Gensokyo.
The question is, is the 'mastermind' going to be someone from the Animal Realm or someone from Gensokyo? And if it's a Gensokyan, then what kind of spirit or spirits is it going to be?
My first guess is going to be someone from the story of Momotarō, which features a dog, a monkey and a pheasant. Why? The size of the playable cast (19) makes me feel like there will be multiple masterminds this time around, and i really like the story! lol.
Second guess is going to be rogue spirits from the Animal Realm. I personally don't think any of the 4 yakuza bosses would be behind this incident, although it does sound like something Saki would do. Guessing the motive behind this incident could be that some spirits of the Animal Realm go take refuge in Gensokyo to escape the 4 yakuza clans, but eventually start taking it over due to their nature.
The Cast.
As for the cast of the game, I have no idea. Zun loves to add very unexpected characters to these kinda games. Just look at Gouyoku Ibun and AoCF. BUT I really like the idea of the cast being themed after the Chinese zodiac.
Tumblr media
We already have Seiran (rabbit), Nazrin (rat) and Aunn (dog) as confirmed playable characters, and they do fit this theme.
We also do have some matching characters for a number of the zodiac, such as:
Urumi (ox), Shou (tiger), Saki (horse), Yuuma (sheep/goat), and Kutaka (rooster).
You could argue that the Satori sisters fit monkey, Kanako fits snake and Yachie fits dragon, but in my opinion they are probably not going to be in the game because they really aren't animal spirits, except for Yachie, who i personally do not see becoming playable due to her tendency of not getting her hands dirty.
However if these characters will be playable, then we will be missing a pig themed character. Could this be a new one? who knows.
So if hypotetically 12 of the 19 playable characters are based off the Chinese zodiac, then what about the rest of them? My personal picks are:
Mamizou: She has become a series regular since her debut, and i think the game's theme and story are perfect for her. She has been very vocal about wanting a high ranking position within the hierarchy of Gensokyo and this feels like a chance for her to take action.
Aya: Another series regular and Zun seems to love writing her, so why not? + Bonus points for being an animal yokai.
Orin: She is an animal, specifically a cat yokai, and in some versions of the Chinese zodiac, there is a cat instead of the rabbit. She also has been a lot more active recently because of Detective Satori, and imo it would be cool to see how a person who can manipulate spirits would interact with animal spirits.
Megumu: She was the mastermind behind the Ability Card incident, so i feel like she would be interested in the aftermath of that. She also could fill the "dragon" role in the zodiac because of her name (龍) is an alternative read of dragon.
Nue: This is a stretch but a Nue is a chimera with many animal parts so maybe.. (<- maximum copium)
Keine: She could fill the "ox" role, and i feel like she could get involved to protect the human village, which is one of the confirmed stages in the game.
Chimata: Bc why not.
(I have some doubts about the Chinese zodiac theme because afaik it's not that commonly used in Japan, and the missing zodiacs seem kind of random, mainly the pig. BUT i would love to finally get actual snake, monkey and pig yokai.)
Other thoughts.
Personally the premise is not that exciting to me. While I love both WBaWC and UM, I feel like it's about time we move on. This game could prove me wrong and be my favorite one yet, but those are just my initial thoughts.
The gameplay seems like it could be fun, PoFV was a decent game imo and making it more like the mainline games seems like a clear improvement. I personally am a bit bored of the ability cards and i feel like they will just overcomplicate things, but once again i could be happily proven wrong.
Anyways, I hope the OST will be a good one, a good amount of it will be re-used themes but that is not a problem.
Nothing else to add, excited for May 7th!!
*edit: replaced Saki with Orin, tired brain moment*

Happy New Year! Rambles
Happy Solar New Year, and welcome to 2024! We're a few days in and I hope everyone is having a good year so far. I hosted a small, overnight mingle with some friends so I thought I'd share a recipe I found that absolutely slapped.
It's weird to think about, but New Years is one of those holidays that everyone in just about every culture celebrated in some way, but how and when varied wildly. This is because, until recently, different areas and cultures had different calendars. Ancient Egypt were the first to figure out the year should have 365 days, but they had three seasons, and a kind of limbo month of 5 days in case they need to extend the year (Leap year) The Start of their year was on our July 19th, when Sirius returned and the Nile flooded. This is good for crop growing.
Many people think the Ancient Romans were the ones to make our Modern calendar, mainly because the months are named in honor of Roman Gods. Plus there's the story of Julius Caesar creating an entire month and naming it after himself (July) is so well known. But, another Emperor, Augustus Caesar, also named a month after himself. Though to his credit, he just renamed an already existing month 'Sextillia' (Meaning Sixth). People think it's crazy to just add another month like that, but the last month for the Romans basically lasted for as long as they needed it to.
The new year for the Ancient Romans was on March 1st, where they honored Mars, God of War. Then Julius changed it to January 1st, Honoring Janus the God of Time. Eventually, Rome converts to Christianity, and the new year is now about Fasting and Prayer and fun stuff like that. It remains on Jan 1st and Honored Mary, until a while later it's decided that date is too pagan and they move it to December 25th. Celebrating the New Year with the Birth of Christ makes much more sense. Except, they run into a little problem where either the year runs short, as December doesn't have enough days, or we confusedly end the year AND start it....in December. Plus not many people knew of the change and didn't celebrate the new year. So after a while, they switched it back to January 1st.
Finally, in 1582, the Gregorian calendar was released. This is the Calendar we still use today, and despite your feelings on the religion that made it, it is the most accurate Calendar we humans have ever made. The year officially started January 1st. But a lot of people across Europe didn't adopt this calendar. Most people stuck to when spring time happened, around late March Early April, to celebrate the new year. It wasn't until the mid 1700s when Britain started expanding colonies into the new world that the push for everyone to adopt the Gregorian Calendar was made. This shift is why we have April Fools as people still celebrating the new year in April were called Silly or Foolish.
But people still celebrate OTHER new years. People in Mexico will still celebrate the Aztec New Year on March 12th. In Many Hindu communities, Diwali is considered the New Year. It date changes each year, but tends to happen in October. And then there's the Widely know Lunar New year. Celebrated across many Asian cultures and can be a massive celebration. More so than the Solar New year in some cases. The date also changes, but happens some time between end of January to start of February. Fun fact, if you are checking out your Chinese Zodiac and are born in January or Early February, you should check when the Lunar New year started the year you were born. So if you were born in the year of the Rabbit but your birthday is January 3rd; that means the new year of the Rabbit hasn't started yet and you should reference the Previous year, year of the Tiger, for your Horoscope.
Wow that turned into a weird ramble. Long story short; These crock pot noodles were good!
