Finally! I will say now that the class girls will likely take a long time as well.

Kagami's first and second looks here are meant to be her pre and post character development outfits.

Buckle in, this is a long (haha) one

Kagami in cannon is clearly designsed to resemble Marinette in a lot of ways, both are of Asian decent and have blue-ish hair and blue eyes. Both have freckles and even their suits share a very similar color pallet. At least Luka was different from Adrien in more than personality.

I didn't want that for my Kagami. I wanted her too look like more than a Marinette clone. So she gets to keep her freckles since my Marinette doesn't have any. Her hair is a darker color instead of a blue, and her eyes take on a stormy grey color. And of course their body types are different, namely Kagami is both taller and ripped.

Ryuko's hair is more blue since I gave the miraculous blue, white, and gold accent to match the weather pattern on her chest. Her hair get's shorter, pinned back and is a bit more wild. It's probably got some static. Little horns and some armor to keep her extra safe as well as further resembling scales. Her suit is closer to an orange shade than Ladybug's cool red. I almost switched her to blue since I agree with the sentiment that the dragon should have been blue. But red looked good too.

I don't particularly like any of the akuma designs for Kagami. I like Oni-Chan in concept at least (hate the name) so I decided to combine that with Riposte to create her initial design. Than she gets a pallet swap and a few thorny details to represent the rose. And Bara-Oni, literally just 'Rose Demon' I ain't creative, when Lila pulls her stunt.

Kagami's personality is very similar to cannon, however her character still has some pretty harsh changes. Kagami has come to realse through Adrien and Marinette's friendship that she isn't very happy with her life. Her mother is trying to live through her, forcing Kagami to participate in fencing and putting pressure on her to perform perfectly in every aspect of life.

This comes to a head when she is given Longg. While sitting in the akumatized mech her mother became, all because she had the audacity to make friends, she actually waits long (haha) enough for Longg to explain the miraculous. When Long explains the weapon he points out that she must be thrilled to have a sword. At which point Kagami was an emotional breakdown and sobs that she doesn't even like sword fighting. That she would rather learn hand to hand combat and that she's wanted to switch for years but her mother refused to hear it.

Longg says her can change her weapon to better suit her, and she get's armor and the abilitly to summon gauntlets when her power activates.

After having this break she and Adrien sit down and try and find ways for Kagami to feel more like an individual without being disowned at 16. Cutting/dyeing your hair and getting a Tattoo are two of the results, and since Kagami already has short hair and doens't really want to go shorter she gets the tattoo instead. Subtly referencing her time as Ryuko in blue (her favorite color). And of course her mother is blind and doesn't know

Is it kind of shitty to abuse your mother's disability to use her money and get a tattoo? Maybe. But that's what you get for mentally and emotionally warping your duaghter to the point where she lies about her favorite color to please you. She, Adrien, and Chloe are in the "Our mom's suck" club together. Chloe will be collecting her for new wardrobe shopping.

RYUKO REDESIGN

holy FUCK i had SO MUCH FUN DRAWING THIS OH MY GOD okay. Here's my redesign of Ryuko from Miraculous! I really wanted to accentuate, I suppose, a more personal design to Kagami? I saw a redesign of Ryuko once where she wore like a hakama and I thought that was neat so I took some inspiration from that.

I was inspired by AKIRA and also Ryuko Matoi for, oh wow, un, unexplainable, reasons. You can see the Kill La Kill sorta undercut hair dye. Also, her hair is a sorta purplish wine in mixture with her canon blue and my original idea of going brown instead like her concept art and deciding both was good.

Also- Don't ask how that jacket/shirt/suit actually works. Jotaro Hat logic. You don't question it. Meanwhile drawing the skirt details were REALLY fun

Will there be polls on all your original kwami designs? Do you plan to redesign canon kwamis?

If there are designs I'm struggling with, then yes, I'll do a poll to help decide on the OC kwamis.

And for a majority of canon kwamis, no. A very small number would get tweaks, like Longg getting dragonfly wings as Longg is now a dragonfly kwami (meant to live up to the pun of the animal, kinda like how Tikki references ladybird with her tail feathers), also changing the big horns to be dark/black as in canon they look like party hats and it was just kinda awkward.

Pollen I'd be tempted to change up her eyes. The yellow irises just doesn't work for me as it's too much yellow. I think going blue against dark blue would've been better, and would've expanded her concept art, which I'm certain they changed her original eyes as it wasn't expressive enough.

Lastly, Orikko is the only other I'd really change up, as I think he wound up with an awkward design over all. And kinda boring. Like, have the designers not looked at roosters? They're some pretty colorful and iconic birds.

And this is just showing off a small handful.

I actually did do an edit to Orikko before, work off Rooster Bold and give the kwami some more color, and to explore a beakless option (as honestly, so far beaks I find are kinda awkward on kwamis, we see from Plagg that kwamis can open their mouth pretty big but a beak limits that, plus you got Duusu coming in initially showing no beaks, so I'd rather try and work off that detail Duusu came with design wise for bird kwamis).

So this I'd be tempted to do for Orikko instead.

...And if I was to try and aim with keeping the Og 7 together, then I suppose I could roll with Turtle being more cyan/turquoise. Cause I will say, technically the Miraculous itself is more blue-green than green, so doing that color tweak isn't much of a stretch. I'd probably do a little more green than the edits I did before.

Otherwise there's not much else I'd really change... uh, kwamis that do have black on them are going to be more of an incredibly dark purple (like Pagg and Ziggy, maybe Kaalki unless I go with the more reddish brown).

With Eagle official there is the matter with Liiri, she may be kept for Eagle or maybe she'll get a little tweak and be an Owl instead? But I'm not quite there yet designing wise. I'm more likely to do the Eagle Renling but we'll see.

Why is Longgs concept perfection? What does that have to do with the dragon miraculous? All the other concepts have a concept that can be learned from like..

How destruction can be beautiful in its own way

Or determination can be powerful if you believe in yourself

Even pretension can be a concept to learn from but perfection?

I liked that in the beginning of show the characters learned from their Miraculouses concept. Like how Alya learned from Trixx that trust is important to illusion

Or Nino that his love for Alya is the biggest strength for protection.

Marinette learns to be creative in new ways from Tikki and those around her.

But perfection? What can you learn from that concept?

Finally drew something for Mireille, and edited Aurore slightly. Im not too happy with them, they seem kinda bland but oh well for now.

They share the same hero name Cirrus, and switch out as heroes when their schedules allow, hense the similar aesthetics.

Aurores weapon is a lightning rod.

Mireilles weapon is a wind sock.

Siren's Song, Wyvern

Little darling Zoe now in color. I decided on using pink as the main color for this dragon for the streak in her hair and that is present in her clothes. I had considered yellow since it's also a big part of her color palette, but didn't feel that would look like a dragon, but more like a wasp.

Also, shoutout to @doritos-green who suggested the name Wyvern (among many) for little Zoe.

Have I redesigned Ryuko before? Yes, which is also what the first one is. But I'm not really satisfied with it, it's not bad but it's too... tight? for my taste now.

You see, I'm trying to make Kagami's suits flowy/not tight in contrast to her civilian look where her clothes are more tight which corresponds to her mother's strictness. So when she has the miraculous she doesn't have her mother's influence on her so her suit (and the hair!) represents that. Or at least I tried doing that.

I think my favorite ones are the third one and the last one. The blue looks so good! The fifth one is also my favorite but it's absolutely not what I was aiming for xd. I guess it could be a suit when she has the miraculous to work for her mother or something.

Bonus- My ryuko redesign with the blue color pallet. It's a bit more monochrome than I would prefer but I think with a slight chnage in the hair shade I would be happy. Naturally since the main suit is now blue I changed the beads from blue to red.
