i can tell that the anon was annoying bc even made myself mad, but seeing you mocking them about the grammar kinda hurt me. please, took in consideration that a lot of your readers are not natural english speakers and we try our best for having a decent communication.
not telling it is your case, but a lot of english speakers always tell hurtful things about the way we talk/spell but can't even tell a word in other language that isn't english. i really enjoy reading you, and as a not fluent person who makes mistakes, i felt like telling you this because what you said to them can hurt others too as much as did to me. have a good day, and take care of yourself <3
Hello there , I completely understand where you're coming from because English isn't my first language even if it seems like it, it's actually my third language.
The grammar thing was only a jab at the end since that person truly needed someone to roast them. I personally didn't take that insult to heart , I couldn't care any less , however I roasted them as hard as I did to hopefully make sure they never do that to someone who that insult might hurt deeply.
I believe if someone is going to insult me , the least they can do is write the words "you" and "ass" correctly, the least they can do is do their research how a sentence is written even if they're not fluent cause if they have the time and energy to come up with an undeserved insult , they can use that same time and energy to do research, ask , and make sure that at least it's written correctly.
Maybe it's because where I come from (we don't speak English where I come from) , if someone insults you and they make a pronunciation mistake or spelling mistake, you dismiss them and roast their mistakes. So I guess it could be just my cultural upbringing shinning through.
But other than someone trying to insult me , I have absolutely no issue with someone making mistakes. I genuinely encourage people to write and make mistakes cause that's how one learns, but if someone tries to insult me , I will rip into them without a doubt , I feel it's only fair.
Anyway, moral of the story, if someone insults me for no reason, I will completely rip them apart so they can have a taste of their own medicine, however, I'll try to refrain from any comments about grammar even if it's ingrained in me when ripping into them and I'm sorry for unintentionally hurting you and sorry to anybody else who was effected.
Have a good day and take care of yourself as well! 💖💖💖

ngl, it’s a li’l strange to see people post about how it bothers them whenever someone (unknowingly/seemingly cannot help due to accents) pronounce something (usually a foreign name w/different rules of pronunciation) wrong . . . like, you coULD just try to gently be like ‘hey, it’s actually pronounced like *insert correct way*’ instead of just lowkey making people feel stupid for not knowing how to/being unable to just rIGHT-AWAY pronounce something correctly due to said-pronunciation-rules / their accent :/

That last ask got me thinking! How would the bucci gang react to meeting SR reader's family? Not all of them but like a visiting grandparent(who is likely very unaware their precious grandchild is working with the mob to pay off awful debts-which reader would like to keep that way), but like who's falling all over themselves to impress said relative, who would be subtly trying to get their blessing to date reader, what shenanigans would reader the gang go to keep this person in the dark??
ohhh what an interesting situation!!! some of them would definitely handle it better than others...
Here’s the general concept! Reader’s grandparents are coming to pay their granddaughter a visit in Naples, under the impression she’s been studying there the past few years. Reader has asked some of the members of her team to further validate her story. I imagine everyone as trying to actively court Reader to some extent during this. :’)))
Tumblr media
Bruno Bucciarati;
Bruno is a revered member of the community. Any of the troublesome details of his Passione involvements would be lost in translation, so you figured he’s a safe bet. He’s also the member who is most familiar with your situation. While he speaks under the pretense of being professional, he would love to have that connection with your family for... any future possibilities. Marriage possibilities.
He spots you in a mild state of panic, and boasting the compassionate heart he has, is led to ask if you want to talk to him about it. When you explain that some of your foreign family is coming to visit, he can immediately read between the lines. You need to play this part perfectly. He’ll offer to accompany you on one of his less busier days, willing to do whatever it is that’d help.
The language barrier doesn’t matter too much! Bruno is still a gentlemen. Opening doors for them, pulling out their chairs, offering to pay for any of your meals... he’s very kind. Your grandparents are going to be quite fond of him by the end of your day together. All according to his plan.
Unfortunately for you, Bruno is going to be offering lots of praise that he fully expects you to translate. It’s a bit embarrassing how genuine he’s being. Speaking about how hard a worker you are, how nothing gets in your way, stuff like that. Your face is on fire as you translate the heartfelt compliments. You end up toning them down a bit for your sake.
“[First] is one of the most reliable people I know. You should take pride in having helped bring up someone like her. I promise I’ll continue to look after her, you have nothing to worry about.”
“Ahh... Bucciarati, do I really need to tell them that...?”
Tumblr media
Giorno Giovanna;
He speaks some English! Giorno did well in his classes at school, so he can understand the basics. Having a knowledge of multiple languages in his position is also a benefit, so he never fully stopped studying it. Though he’d prefer not to mess up any of the pronunciation in front of you. He’ll be practicing in secret as not to embarrass himself, and definitely thinks this is a great opportunity to get closer to you. It’s a shame he can’t take full advantage of it, but he’s going to try to.
Giorno hasn’t really had any positive family interactions, but he’s still good with people. Unfortunately, in his new position, he’s extremely busy. He still tries to make time for you when he can, but won’t be able to hang out with the three of you as much as he’d like to. He does find the time to come to the airport with you, under the pretense that a lot of shady business goes on there. He wouldn’t want your family being scammed. Don’t ask how he knows about this...
The entire car ride to their hotel will be filled with pleasant conversation. Giorno is a natural at reading the room, and backs your story up to perfection. Any potential discrepancies are covered up with ease. He came in for a clean save at least once or twice when you made a mistake, and you couldn’t thank him enough after.
Giorno isn’t going to want to pry into your personal life, but would be highly amused over any stories they tell him. Even though it’s only a forty minute drive, he enjoyed his time a lot more than he expected to, learning some new things about you in the process. You’re a bit frazzled over the person who is technically your boss (even if he’s not big on formalities...) knowing about your embarrassing childhood stories. He finds it endearing. :’)
He’s gonna bring it up afterwards during a casual discussion, sporting a little devious smile.
“So, [First], do you want to tell me about that time you got stuck in a swing set again? It seems quite unlike you.”
“God... I can’t believe they told you that. I was hoping you wouldn’t understand it well.”
Tumblr media
Guido Mista;
Oh no.
You’re going to have to explain to him that a few changes will need to occur if he is to meet your grandparents. For one, he needs to take a shower. Two, he needs something that at least covers his midriff. If there conditions are met, you’ll allow it. He is not missing out on this opportunity to win you over, so he’s surprisingly amiable to these conditions, ready to do his best to make a good impression. You’ve never see him so agreeable.
You do have to keep reminding him of the story that you’re sticking to. Mista makes a few mistakes here and there, but manages to laugh it off. Since you’re going to be translating a majority of his sentences it’s not a big deal. That doesn’t mean he won’t at least try to say a few words in English... results varying.
The most difficult part is trying to ignore the Pistols, who are swarming around in excitement. They keep speaking to your grandparents like they can hear them. Asking for embarrassing stories, to know about your past partners, or for any cute childhood photos of you. Mista struggles to keep a composed look when all this is happening.
“Say, [First]. Your grandparents... they aren’t Stand users, are they?”
“No, Mista. My grandparents aren’t Stand users.”
To be honest, you weren’t too sure if Mista tagging along for some sightseeing would be the best idea. It goes a lot better than you expected. Some of his comments that you translate actually get your grandparents laughing! What a miracle, he’s gonna be grinning ear to ear. Mista is just a lovable guy.
He is going to 100% try and sneak in a question about your relationship status when you’re not paying attention. Mista has to make sure you’re still on the market. B)
Tumblr media
Pannacotta Fugo;
He’s actually your go to for this situation. It couldn’t be a better setup. Fugo is intelligent, can speak English the most fluently out of everyone in your team, and would be a big help for sightseeing. As soon as he heard about your grandparents visiting, he knew it was only a matter of time until you came to him for help. At first, he was intent on politely turning you down, but god... how can he? You’re too cute, looking at him like that, saying you need his help. Fuck, he’s so whipped for you lmao.
Fugo is the most anxious about it. What if your grandparents don’t like him? What if he accidentally says something offensive? Or even worse, what if he blows your cover, and you hate him forever? He’s gonna being shutting himself in his room, refreshing his English nonstop. You have to admire his dedication.
When the time finally comes, it goes a lot smoother than he anticipated. There’s no humiliating himself in front of you like he feared. Fugo is a bit stiff at first, but with your help, begins to ease up. He’s an amazing tour guide! Fugo knows the best places to go, what times they’ll be busy, the historical and cultural significance of every place, etc. When he starts talking about trivia you can tell he’s in his element.
It’s going so well. That is, until your grandma says you have such a nice boyfriend. Fugo’s entire face goes beet red. If only.
“A-ah, Mrs. [Last], we’re not dating, actually.”
“We aren’t, but... you’re right. Fugo is amazing, isn’t he? There’s nothing he can’t do. I appreciate him a lot.”
On that day, Pannacotta Fugo’s soul ascended. He legitimately cannot stop thinking about this. For you, his crush of many years, to compliment him so genuinely? Fugo.exe has stopped responding .
Tumblr media
Narancia Ghirga;
He kinda invites himself along? Narancia is giving himself a bunch of pep talks, thinking of all the things he can say. His train of thought is that if he speaks English well, it’ll impress you! There’s nothing he wants more in this world than for you to think he’s cool and reliable. The problem is that most of his knowledge of English is only from music. So he’s more familiar with vulgarities than anything else.
You’re understandably hesitant to allow Narancia to tag along. Then he makes the solid point to you that Aerosmith’s radar would come in handy, detecting any potential threats. Narancia is going to be sporting the brightest smile when you concede and say he can come with you, practically vibrating with excitement. He promises that you won’t regret picking him.
The place he picks to go is a local pizzeria. In his opinion, the pizza you’ve spoken of back home is an insult to humanity. Naples style is the only way to go. He insists on letting your grandparents try “real” pizza, as opposed to whatever your country has.
Narancia reminiscences about a lot of your past stories together. Nothing that has incriminating undertones, just casual stuff from your years of knowing one another. You’re almost surprised by how he’s remembered all of this. He can’t help it, any time spent with you has been forever imprinted into his mind.
“So, there was this one time we spent hours looking for [First]’s lost wallet. Come to find out that she just left it in the glove department after we spent the entire evening searching for it. And then--”
“Narancia, do you have to bring that up? It’s so embarrassing...”
Tumblr media
Leone Abbacchio;
You’re going to have to pull out some incredible arguments to get him to come along with you. He’s going to say no before you even get the chance to ask, already sensing what it is you’re going to say. So be ready to break out some Ace Attorney level stuff or it’s no dice. He’s already offering special treatment by even letting you try to convince him, anyone else would’ve been shooed away. He has a big soft spot for you :’)...
The most you’ll get him to agree to is one dinner. That’s it. Abbacchio has a lot of baggage with him, and doesn’t think highly of himself. To be honest he’s wondering why you’re even relying on him here. It’s strange, since he appreciates the trust you must have for him, but also doesn’t think it’s deserved.
He cleans up well. Abbacchio is going to take this occasion very seriously. For most of the dinner he listens to you speaking, rarely offering input unless he finds it necessary. When he does speak he’s more polite than you’ve ever heard him though. You almost wondered if it was Abbacchio who was speaking, and not some imposter. So he is capable of having manners when he wants to...
He’ll also pay for the dinner, much to your surprise. Will insist on it even. Abbacchio tells you to let them order whatever desserts/wine they want. He’s pulling all the stops to make a good impression.
“Abba, you really didn’t have to do all that. Please at least let me reimburse some of it.”
“Would you stop bringing it up already...? They’re your family, so it’s only natural I’d take care of them.”
Tumblr media
Trish Una;
As the only non Passione member on this list, Trish is an excellent choice! Her singing career is really starting to take off. Your family will find her to be impressive. You’ll have to think of a story for how the two of you are familiar with one another. You can’t very well say you used to be her bodyguard protecting her from assassins lmao.
Since she needs to travel a lot to different venues for her career, Trish’s English is steadily improving. She’ll normally text you for help if anything is particularly challenging. The biggest challenge would be aligning your schedules together, at the same time they’re visiting. Trish has a way of making time for you.
One of the things Trish loves to do is give gifts from her travels. So she’ll show up with some little souvenirs for them. It’s a very heartfelt gesture that they appreciate, and she even gives you a gift or two. The queen of good impressions.
Throughout the years, Trish has managed to gather a sizeable collection of selfies from when you’ve spent time together. At some of her albums release parties, trips to the beach, the times you’ve travelled together. She’s going to have a lot of fun going through her hundreds of photos of you and showing them.
“Trish, you almost need a SD card for all of these. Just how many pictures of us do you have?”
“Oh, this is just the beginning, [First]. I have a whole other album of when we went to Milan last spring.”

Hermitcraft Great British Bake Off AU
(Or the Great British Baking Show outside the UK)
With the start of a new series, I thought I'd compile this AU I came up with a while ago. Big shout out to @skywillsometimeswrite who helped me brainstorm nearly all of this (and accidentally got into the series sorry. Time to get emotional over bakers again.)
It's Great British Bake Off, where the hermits take the place of the contestants, judges and some of the crew (with the recap boys as the hosts!) It follows the structure of the show, but to add maximum fluffiness, nobody leaves and the show works on a point system instead. The loser of each week does the washing up. (Not that the winner matters, this is all about the shenanigans.) Further explanations and what role each hermit fills with a short bio is under the cut!
The recording structure follows the usual routine. It takes place over several weeks, with the recording happening at the weekend. They stay at a hotel over the weekend. On the Saturday they record the Signature Challenge and the Technical. On the Sunday they film the Showstopper. Each week is themed, with the challenges fitting into that theme. The themes are often based around a certain kind of baking (pastry, bread, chocolate) but sometimes around time periods, places, or diets. I recommend googling or watching an episode of the show but a brief explanation of the challenges:
The Signature Challenge: They're given a certain thing (cake, pastry, biscuit, etc) to create. They've been able to practice at home. This is the opportunity to show personality and a home-cooked, rustic style with tried and tested bakes.
The Technical: The Judges take turns each week to set a recipe for an often uncommon bake. The recipe is bare-bones and the bakers have to use their intuition and knowledge about baking to create what's intended. This round is unpractised, and judged blind, with the judges outside the tent for the duration. The aim is to perfectly replicate the recipe given and that's how they're judged.
The Showstopper: A chance to bring out the big guns! They're often given a theme and a type of bake and then the contestants can go wild. The aim is to create something of professional quality, that makes the judges go 'wow' and still tastes good. Also practiced over the week, though sometimes less due to the size of the bakes.
Now onto the hermits:
The Judges are TFC and Biffa. TFC is the friendlier of the two. He does his best to find positives in bakes, although he enjoys making jokes about things that go wrong. Most of the contestants come to think of him as a grandad. Biffa gives more thorough criticism, but it helps the contestants improve a lot and is tailored towards the advice they need. They enjoy talking to the contestants about their bakes and lives outside the tent, both on and off camera. They've both had long careers in the industry.
The Hosts are our recap boys, Pixelriffs and Zloy. They're a dynamic duo in front of the camera, riffing off each other and the contestants naturally. They have a good balance of improvisation and planned skits. Zloy will doodle scenes from the tent during their downtime.
In alphabetical order, the Contestants:
1. Beef: Works as a butcher. It's often joked about, and not helped by him spilling red food colouring on his apron early in the series. He's incredibly good at piping and often creates artworks on top of his bakes for decoration. Absolutely smashes any biscuit decoration.
2. Cleo: Works as a teacher. Ironically, has to be censored at least once an episode and continuously hopes none of her students watch. It's hard to tell what she's doing until the last minute when she pulls it all together. She enjoys making little figures from fondant or rice crispy marshmallow mix.
3. Cub: Runs a sports equipment company. He likes coming up with creative solutions to the challenges and surprises the others by how focused he can become once in the zone. He has a deadpan sense of humour and a willingness to commit to bits. Often banters with Scar.
4. Etho: His job seems to change every time he mentions it. It never fails to catch the others off guard. He rarely explains his bakes, and his ability to mix flavours that shouldn't work but somehow do is infuriating. Sometimes, as he waits for things to bake, he uses the free time to play music on the baking equipment.
5. False: Works as a bodyguard. She says the details of her job are classified and never brings it up again. Nobody is sure if she's joking, but she's built. She's a very precise builder, with perfectionist tendencies that can sometimes come back to bite her if she focuses on them too much. She jumps between different themes with ease when decorating.
6. Grian: Works as an architect. He's fond of going big with his bakes, trying to push the limits of what's possible. However, he often gives himself too much to do, and ends up having to rush, disguise unfinished parts or the other contestants help him finish. He's bubbly in front of the camera and enjoys the occasional prank.
7. Impulse: Works as an electrical engineer. Also anxiety central. He's a very technical baker who's brilliant at following recipes. However, he will restart a bake if very minor things go wrong, which often leaves him pressed for time. Despite this, he's one of the most likely people to jump in and help someone who's struggling.
8. Keralis: Owns a bookstore. He loves decorating and his bakes are always some of the prettiest in the tent. Although he has a sleek, modern style, he can branch out when needed. He makes up his own pronunciation for ingredients, bakes and the other people in the tent. Gradually, everyone else starts using them too.
9. Scar: Works as a landscaper. Skilled at detailing and has out of the box thinking for his designs. Likes creating vehicles. However, sometimes he finds himself hiding bad baking with his decoration. His name proves accurate when half of his arm ends up bandaged in the first episode. Becomes good friends with Bdubs because of this.
10. Stress: Works as a personal trainer. Her bakes are always bright and colourful. It isn't a Stress bake if it doesn't make you smile. She's fairly equal on her decorating and her baking and enjoys a cartoonish style. A delight to have in the tent, loves helping other contestants and cheers them up if something doesn't go to plan.
11. xB: Medical researcher. His bakes are always creative, with fun stories behind them, if a bit dark. He's soft-spoken and doesn't raise his voice. He never quite swears but always comes close. The others can tell something's gone wrong when they hear a quiet 'dangit' or 'son of a-' and somebody jumps to find out what's happened.
12. Xisuma: Works as bee-keeper. He loves big shapes and patterns in his bakes. Often keeps things healthy(ish). He's primarily a technical baker and researches and practices his bakes extensively. However, he has a tendency to panic and makes silly mistakes (salt instead of sugar, forget to turn on the oven, etc.)
The Crew Members:
Camera Crew:
Mumbo: Sometimes mistaken for being on a work placement/internship. He enjoys his work and takes a lot of the detail shots of the bakes. Although he can keep to himself, Iskall often brings him out of his shell and encourages him to chat with the contestants.
Ren: He's an incredibly chill presence to be around. He'll do his best to chat with contestants in-between filming and try to calm them down or hype them up. Usually he films stressful sequences with a reassuring smile and kind words. He enjoys singing in their downtime.
Zed: Very bouncy. He enjoys rushing around the tent to get over the shoulder shots or focus on the detail. He's good friends with Tango, and maybe he occasionally worries he’s ‘broken’ something to get the chance to talk to him on set.
Sound:
Wels: He's calm and organised. He tests everybody's microphones are working and manages audio levels. He's good at handling distractions, but if they manage to catch him off-set they find he has a fun sense of humour and can give genuinely good advice. Enjoys singing to test the microphones when he thinks nobody's listening.
Wardrobe:
Iskall: Most of his work is done off-set, and he becomes good friends with the contestants, discussing their plans for bakes and chatting. He'll dart onto set to touch up make up when the cameras are off, offering words of encouragement as he does. Though it’s a bit concerning when he calls people’s bakes ‘of doom’.
On-site Medic:
Bdubs: Bdubs is a familiar sight with the accident prone contestants. He's always there with calm words and enthusiasm, talking the contestant down from their worry about their injury, helping them to relax. Despite his silliness, it's obvious he takes his job seriously. The contestants are glad to have him.
Set Manager:
Jevin: A bit chaotic, but he helps make sure things are set for filming. He enjoys getting the ingredients ready for the day and working out what they'll need. He also enjoys bullying Hypno. They've worked together a few times now. He enjoys a good joke when he gets the chance.
Hypno: Fairly relaxed, but he can appreciate a good joke and he appreciates Jevin. He helps organise ingredients and makes sure that things run smoothly on set. Very precise with his work, he doesn't cut corners and makes sure everyone has what they need, when they need it. A good person for the contestants to talk to.
Researcher:
Joe: He takes great pride in searching recipes, trying new things and adding them to his repertoire. Sure he might use a few too many words, but he's good at his job. He's not often on set, working mostly with Jevin and Hypno behind the scenes. But he might step in as tech if he's needed. A bit of a cryptid to the contestants.
Technicians:
Tango: A good friend of Zed. Even though he has some... Less than professional terms, he does his job well, and enjoys the opportunities he gets to socialise with the bakers. Very smiley and friendly, however if he’s in the tent, it’s likely something has gone very wrong. He's terrible at baking himself, much to the amusement of those who find out.
Doc: More serious than Tango, he's there to do a job, not make friends. Then he ends up making friends anyway. They're infectious. Grian enjoys 'breaking' things to annoy him (and have a chance to pull him on set to talk to him.) He does, secretly, enjoy the shenanigans the contestants get up to. But he'd never admit it.
Keeping in mind, I care less about the accuracy of this and more about The Shenanigans:
The first time Xisuma gets everything correct in a bake, he is convinced he’s still got something wrong. He spends the entire time until judging expecting there will be something wrong with it that they only discover during judging. A lot of memes are made out of his worrying.
At the end of filming during the heatwave, they have a lake party. Someone challenges Cub to jump in the lake and he cannonballs straight in. The others are surprised. Scar, who knows him well enough by then, is not. Doc is dragged in. Xisuma sits neatly on the edge and looks so relaxed they’d feel too guilty pulling him in. Keralis sits next to him and splashes him a little instead.
Cleo will make frequent asides to her students to try and impart good messages. Sometimes she swears during them. Then swears again upon realising. She uses her teacher voice on the other contestants a few times by accident (and on purpose.)
Someone doubts False’s strength. It’s probably Grian. She makes a beeline straight for him and hauls him onto her shoulder. And possibly into the lake. She makes it her mission to pick up most of the guys, whether they’re ready or not (with prior consent, of course.)
Stress and False work out together in the mornings. Sometimes some of the other contestants will join them and she’ll lead an impromptu work out session. She also does yoga in the evenings to calm down after filming. A fair few join her for that.
Some of Etho’s jobs include: ‘I’m a gardener so I want this cake to include edible flowers’, ‘I’m a beekeeper so I wanted to use honey.’, ‘I’m a piano tuner so music is a big part of my life’, ‘I used to hack as a part-time job’. His job subtitle changes each episode. He gets a lot of concerned looks from other contestants.
Grian and Scar become frenemies because they’re bench buddies. Grian loves bullying Mumbo off-camera. He argues with Iskall over wearing anything but a red sweater. He loves complimenting everyone’s bakes. He makes a lot of friends.
Tango and Zed often try to take jobs on the same productions. Zed likes to bother Tango with stupid ways to make broken tech work. Impulse will sit there and try to fix it in earnest. They have to remind Impulse he’s supposed to having a break before filming resumes. The three quickly become friends and can be found hanging out together.
During one of the heatwaves, Impulse near passes out from heat exhaustion. There’s eleven concerned people crowding around him, and it’s one of the only times Bdubs has to seriously raise his voice to gain control of the situation. The others are all sat outside in the shade and given water. Impulse goes back to the hotel and is ambushed by a lot of very concerned friends later that day. They take good care of him and threaten to beat him up if he doesn’t take better care of himself.
During Saturday evenings is when they’ll all lounge around the hotel and hype each other up for the show stopper. They like discussing what their plans are and sharing their ideas. A lot of dumb things happen to help work off the nervous excitement.
There’s also a lot of calming each other down when they’re stressed out and caring about each other. It’s the Found Family VibesTM.
Even though washing up is supposed to be a punishment, a group of them usually end up doing it together and singing loudly and terribly to the radio.
One of the contestants catches Wels singing as he tests his microphone and drags him outside to come and jam with the contestants. Ren joins in. Etho provides backing. It delays things a little but they agree it’s worth it.
Keralis and Beef at some point have some made up war between them that is completely stupid, entirely overdramatic, and gives all the contestants a lot to laugh about.
There is, absolutely, a prank war part way through the season. It also extends off-set. Nobody is safe.
I haven’t seen anyone doing this AU before, and I apologise if they have! I hope there’s enough unique ideas to set it apart. But yeah, this is the AU I use when I just want some Fluffy content. Thanks for reading!

Fic, Off of Land, Out of Water, Part 1, Time.
Yeah this is part 1 of the merman fic I should’ve posted like a month ago. I’ve got the first three parts written. There will probably be six in total. It involves both humans and merpeople heavily so I hope you like it. Only the core four are here so don’t ask where the dark sides are.
Warnings: None I can think of. 1,986 words
Abstract: It’s time for something to happen. Logan and Virgil have different ideas about what it’s time for. Virgil knows more than he’s willing to admit.
Last
Next
1. Time.
Logan floated along lazily, smelling the dust he occasionally sent up into the water. A turtle swam above him. Technically he probably shouldn’t be in waters this shallow but today it would be the only place to get some alone time. There would be people all over town, getting ready for the new years celebration and the graduations tomorrow. The boats above still wouldn’t see him. It wasn’t a big deal. He closed his eyes.
“Stone and stone they placed, ten thousand strong.” he mumbled to himself. “Sand compressed to glass and…”
“Practicing?” said a familiar, ominously deep voice.
Logan opened his eyes. A fanged smooth face hung several feet in the water above him, the messy black, silver, and white pattern on his tail made for camouflage in much deeper waters than these, his light freckled skin free of scales and contradicting what his tail normally would have done for him.
Logan smiled with his mouth closed, refusing to return his friend’s playful threat.
“And where have you been?” Logan asked.
The other merman turned upside down.
“Not so much as a ‘Oh, so good to see you, Virgil.’ Christ.”
“What?” Logan asked. He didn’t understand that last word.
“Nothing.” Virgil said quickly, also turning himself right side up. “I’ve been out exploring. You know me. Scared of people. Need some time away. Whatever.”
Logan turned himself upright as well. “Well did you remember where you went this time?”
“I’ve conveniently forgotten it again.” Virgil said in a series of noises and clicks.
Up until now they had been speaking in English. Logan wondered about this. Normally he and Virgil spoke English together. Virgil spoke the local human language very well. He had taught Logan when they were younger. It was like a secret code between them. He had given Logan a “human name” as he called it.
……….
“Logan sounds like logic.” thirteen year old Virgil had said.
“Okay.” thirteen year old Logan had said, counting the decaying plastic beads they had found just outside the city, arranging and rearranging them in his hand. “So humans made these?”
“Yeah they make them out of oil or whatever.” Virgil had said. “Uh, I haven’t…” he made a series of clicks to translate the word “oil”
Logan shivered at that word. He remembered a story that he was made to memorize from just before his own lifetime. A story of a human boat carrying that substance that had caused a great famine that had forced all of them to move to their current location. A location where he, and he assumed Virgil, was born.
“How could something that destructive make these?” Logan asked.
Virgil carefully picked all of the purple ones out of Logan’s hand and shrugged. He left the blue ones.
“Don’t go finding out, Logan. It’s not worth it.” he had said.
……….
In the present day Logan fingered the ruined beads held to his wrist by a braided rope. He did this purely out of habit. He also double checked to see that Virgil was wearing the purple ones purely out of habit. He was. Logan switched to the mer language, guessing that maybe Virgil wanted to practice. He did have sort of a speech impediment. For all Logan knew he had been teaching him the wrong pronunciation for the human words all of these years.
“So are you graduating too?” Logan asked.
“Tomorrow? I doubt it. I’ll probably never graduate if I’m being honest.” Virgil said.
They both started swimming against the current to go back to the city. The water opened up dark and deep below them as they left the reefs. Virgil was always a faster swimmer and never really slowed down. Logan had to strain to keep up with him. Virgil slowed as they began swimming downwards.
The city was carved into rocks and lit by the sun. Sunlight captured in glass orbs, jars, and bottles that would look like windchimes if the current didn’t blow them sideways and encourage them to float.
As they slowed down even more, Logan grabbed ahold of Virgil’s arm. Virgil didn’t protest and pulled him along, giving the weaker merman some rest.
“Hey blank face! You’re back!” someone yelled from a window.
“Who was that?” Virgil asked.
“Doesn’t matter. Ignore them.” Logan said, pulling Virgil’s head away from the source of the calling. “Can’t have you killing anyone today.”
“I don’t kill people.” Virgil said, obviously resisting the urge to look around for whoever had called him the name. “I just… get defensive.”
……….
Logan grabbed the new kid’s face and whistled in genuine interest.
“You have no scales on your face.” Logan said. He pulled his arm and looked at his back. “Or anywhere else but your tail.”
The new kid backed up quickly and looked horrified. He showed his fangs in a serious way.
“Don’t touch me!” he said, his words slurring together and sounding almost like a two year old.
Amused clicks, whistles, and laughs sounded around the classroom. Logan looked at the other teenagers kicking up sand with their tails and arms and clearly having fun at this kid’s expense. The teacher on break in the corner was carving something into the stone wall. It didn’t look like she was going to intervene.
Logan took a breath, letting the saltwater clear his head.
“Apologies.” he said, holding his hand out, palm up. “I was unaware that you don’t like to be touched. It is unusual but I’ll adjust.”
The other kid seemed to be unsure of what to do but after a moment carefully placed his palm on top of Logan’s, formally accepting the apology.
“I’m Virgil.” he said. “Watch yourself.”
“Can I ask about the scar?”
“Absolutely not.”
……….
It was routine at this point. Had been for years. They got back to Logan’s parents’ apartment, now just Logan’s apartment.
“Can I ask about the scar?”
“No.”
Always the same. Almost like an acknowledgement that they were home. A greeting. Except for this time.
“Can I ask about the scar?”
Virgil paused as he adjusted the magic bottle full of sunlight hanging in the middle of the room to be slightly brighter. He ran his fingers through his short black hair. He looked back at Logan. With the way his eyes moved it looked like he was considering the different shades of blue scales winding around his friend’s torso until they rested just above his eyes on his forehead.
“Tomorrow.” Virgil said.
Logan paused.
“What?”
“You can ask me about it tomorrow.”
“Why tomorrow? Is it because we’re coming of age? Graduation?”
“You’ll see.” Virgil said solemnly. “Or hopefully you won’t.”
Logan was immune to Virgil’s cryptic tone at this point so he shrugged it off.
“Alright. Are you staying here or going to your place?”
“Staying.”
They secured the doors and slept together. It’s not like merpeople have to hold each other while they sleep anymore. They live in a modern world. They have buildings now. The tides won’t take them away from each other. But instincts die hard. Old habits die hard. Old assumptions die hard.
So they clung to each other through the night, on the stone floor. Logan slept. Virgil just listened to him breathe, hearing the water move impossibly through a human-like respiratory system. In his dreams Logan thought he heard a voice.
“Why don’t you question why we have lungs?” It said.
……….
“You are swimming off again?” Logan asked.
Virgil stopped. His bare back and arms tensed and then relaxed when he registered who it was. He floated slightly away with the current.
“You’re my only friend here. If I’m forced to keep coming back I’ll always come back to you.” Virgil said.
“Fine, don’t tell me where you go. But if you miss our graduation I…” Logan couldn’t finish.
“Your graduation.” Virgil said, turning around. “I will never graduate from this.”
“Falsehood.” Logan said.
“I wish I’d never taught you that word.” Virgil said.
The buildings towered above Virgil’s often abandoned sand level apartment. Crabs and other bottom feeders often wandered into it by mistake only to be crushed under Virgil’s bare hands. Unlike almost every other merperon Logan knew Virgil didn’t carve pictures into his walls. They were just as blank as his upper skin. Except of course for the…
No, it was impolite to harp on that more than he already did.
“Where do you even go?” Logan asked. “We left the north seas generations ago. Nobody knows who we are in that area of the ocean. I’ve been trying to figure it out, and you won’t tell me. If I’m your only friend then it’s only logical I should know everything about you, but I know nothing. It has been almost ten new years since we met. Still I don’t know why you live alone or who your parents are.”
“My parents aren’t from here.” Virgil said.
“Then where?” Logan asked. “A twenty two year old shouldn’t be living alone unless your parents are dead like mine. I have tolerated this for far too long. Who are you?”
Virgil swam close fast and put both hands on Logan’s shoulders, a gesture that Logan had only ever seen Virgil use for a friend. A frightening gesture that usually meant dominance over a slain enemy but for some reason in Virgil’s world meant that he was about to tell you something serious. Something that requires your full attention.
“I am an adult, Logan. I am more of an adult than you. You don’t understand yet but you will. Until I come back, don’t go to the surface.”
“I was not planning on it.” Logan said. “I’ve never been there. Why would I start now?”
“Good.”
Logan tried following him. He said “But you’re not an adult. What are-“
Virgil swam away too fast for Logan to keep up. He didn’t finish his sentence. It wouldn’t be logical if Verge couldn’t hear him. Logan watched the distance until his friend was just a dark speck in the water, no bigger than a normal fish swimming about. Logan considered yelling. Letting out a long sorrowful farewell akin to the crying of a whale. But that would be too public. Not like him. Not like Virgil. It would be too primitive. He began reciting things to himself instead.
“And then the ancients learned to shape the sand and the magic henceforth remaned in…”
……….
“Did you sleep?” Logan asked.
“No.” Virgil said
“It is tomorrow. How did you get the large inverted scar on your stomach?”
“Logan, what do you know about human history?”
“Nothing.”
“Do you know what I work to memorize and why I will never graduate?”
“No. Because you will graduate even if you don’t tell me what you are memorizing.”
“What is your job again, Logan?” Virgil asked.
“To preserve the knowledge of our community. To memorize our history and the history of merpeople worldwide as much as I can. I am being tested on this today. I will have to recite all that I’ve learned since birth. I was chosen. You know this. You were chosen too. You are studying to be…”
“You don’t know enough then.” Virgil said. “Hopefully you make it to the test.”
“What’s with the scar?”
“Do you know how humans are born?”
“Like mammals?”
“Than you should know what this scar is.”
“I don’t know what you are talking about. The test will be starting soon. I knew you wouldn’t tell me.”
“I’ll tell you after the test. If we have time.”
“Oh I am so sure of that. That last statement was sardonic.”
Virgil didn’t laugh at that like he usually did  when Logan pointed out that he was being sarcastic. Instead he nervously looked around and followed Logan out the door.
“You seem nervous. We are adults now.” Logan said.
Virgil took a shaky breath.
“That’s exactly why.”Next

Why are we like this? |NYT|
Nakamoto Yuta loves to watch kdramas. Not only that, but he also finds it hard to hate any character. Well, any character but hers.
Tumblr media
You are still not sure about how you ended up in this sittuation. When you asked your manager, she said that your popularity increased a lot, not only in Korea but also in Japan, and it’s all because of the kdrama you take part in.
A few months ago you were nobody, you didn’t even have a purpose in life. All you did was try, so you could say that at the age of 21 you have had almost the same jobs as Barbie while trying to finish your university major at the same time. However, there was one missing, but you had a solution to that.
You of course weren’t expecting this success, you got one of the main roles as the antagonistic and the series got so popular in Korea that the producers had to add japanese and chinese subtitles so it could be recognized in Japan and China too. The whole cast were also taught those languages to promote there.
While all of you were still doing the promotions, your manager received a call from an award show, they wanted to hire you as one of the MCs. You didn’t know why since after all, you weren’t the protagonist but you acepted the offert without hersitation.
**
The first time you met Nakamoto Yuta was because your managers made you practice a few weeks before the show so there weren’t any mistakes that day and also to work on your “chemistry”.
“What is that supposed to mean?” You asked furrowing looking at Haneul, your manager.
“We thought it would be very convenient for both of you if you show the audience that you have a great chemistry. Not as if you were dating, more as if you guys have been friends for a while now.” she explained.
“And how am I supposed to do that if this is the first time we have seen each other?” You crossed your arms. You knew you had sounded a little bit rude, but at that point, you didn’t care.
It made you feel mad, not because it was Yuta, not because you hated him or you didn’t wanted to be friends with him, it was because you knew that the reason Haneul wanted you to be friends was to increase your popularity, and you didn’t need to be friends with anyone to get that.
“We’ll get through it, I guess” Yuta then said, and you inmediately faced him with your eyes wide open.
**
You are sure that in that exact moment is when your push and pull with Yuta started. He seemed to hate you, so you hated him too. Both of you barely talk, only if you are practicing or if it is necessary. Most of those times usually end with both of you looking anywhere else but eachother’s face.
You have never argued with him, you always stop talking to him if things get a little out of control and he never picks up a fight. You just pretend in front of the organizers, in front of the rest of the MCs and even in front of your managers, who always complement the great couple you guys make.
However, you will always find this situation ridiculous, after all you don’t even know that much about eachother, how can you hate someone you haven’t really talked to?
So, a day before the show, you decide to end this situation as soon as possible. Maybe that way some of your friendly interactions would be genuine and not a part of a show to please the audience.
“Yuta, can we talk?” you crack your fingers, feeling a little nervous.
“Yeah, sure, but we have to practice so be quick”
“Tomorrow is the great day, are you nervous?” you ask, trying to break the ice first.
“Not really, after all I feel like home here.” he answers without looking at you.
You have to remind yourself to be patient. Silence strikes once again and you think of somehing to keep the conversation.
“Do you think you could help me with my pronunciation? It’s my first time doing something so important in Japan and I don’t want to dissapoint” you chuckle a little and then, for the first time, he looks at you.
He does helps you, at first you thought you had everything under control but now that you think about all the advices he has given you to make it sound more natural, which definitely increases your confidence.
And you can’t help but think that even if he hates you, he did his best trying to help you.
So, when he is about to leave, you think you must say it now.
“Actually, that’s not the reason why I wanted to talk to you” you try to keep your smile as he turns to see you.
“So?”
“I can tell that we aren’t exactly friends but I was hoping we could get to the end of this. I don’t want to be your enemy?”
Out of all the reactions you would have expected, him laughing for two minutes straight wasn't one of them.
You look at him in the worst way possible and then he stops.
"I'm sorry it's just that I've never thought our relationship would be defined as enemies. I mean, I don't really like you but I would never hate you to that point."
His honesty hurts more than you would have imagined. It's not nice to hear somebody doesn't likes you.
"Can I do something to change your mind? I would really like to get along well with you"
He smiles sweetly at you.
"I just... I thought you were her for a while."
You are sure that you have the word confussion written all over your face.
"Wait, are you comparing me to an ex or something?"
He just turns around as he smiles.
"Let's go, we've got some practicing to do."
You are 100% sure the “her” he vas talking about was his ex. After all, who else could it be?
**
After the show you didn’t talk to each other. You moved back to Korea to film the second season of the show, and he was getting ready for a comeback in Korea too so it is obvious that you were going to coincide in any moment.
It happened in another award show a couple of months after. He was there with NCT 127 since they were nominated and you were there to hand over one of the prizes of the night.
Then the mytical party after the show came, you decided to stay for a while with the rest of the cast. You tried not to glance to where he was, on the other hand, you could feel someone’s gazed fixed in you.
A few minutes later, he came to introduce himself to the rest of the cast, claiming that he was a huge fan of the show. You are still not sure how it happened, but you ended up talking to him for at least two hours.
“So, you’re a big fan of the show, aren’t you?” You asked, mocking him.
“I really am, don’t make fun of me!” He answered you.
“Yeah, sure”
He bowed his eyebrows.
“Actually, I was really looking forward to meeting you but when we first interacted you were so similar to her I was afraid”
“And here we go again. Who the hell is her?”
“You really don’t know?” He ckucled and when you looked at him you were like?? Was he blushing??” Don’t look at me like that, this is embarrassing”
“Please explain!” You tried hard not to laugh at him.
“I thought you were exactly like you character.”
You froze.
“B-but she’s a meanie. I’m a lot of things but not a meanie!” You complained.
“I know, I know now. It’s just that the first time we met I got the wrong impression.”
“Well I must say I didn’t try to cause a good impression so I’m sorry about that.”
“And I judged you wrong, so I’m sorry too”
“Well, why don’t we fix that by getting coffe some other time?” You didn’t knew how you found the courage to ask him that, you almost leave without hearing his answer because of how embarrassed you were.
Then he held your hand and entwined your fingers while giving you one of his bright smiles.
“I’d love to. Let’s not tell Winwin about this though”.

Hello sweety! I know it’s been a while~ Since we are june 13, i thought we could have a subject today! My finals are in one week so it will be the only one in 2 weeks. Sorry... I promise to you i will come back with new brand subjects this summer! So today: Tell us your favorites things about bts members! Also I’m so sorry again for the pictures i send you... Thank you anyway you’re too sweet😭 Love you a lot💗 ~ Nae🐰✨
It’s okay, I didn’t mind at all haha!! Good luck with your finals again
I’ll do one favorite thing per BTS member!! It ended up being really long, but since I didn’t really do a 5th anniversary post I suppose I’ll use your ask to do it TT
Seokjin: His selflessness. He’s constanty sacrificing his own desires and needs for everyone around him without a single thought. He always bottles everything up, and never ever seems to burst or blame anyone else for anything, and it takes immense character to be able to do that. As he himself says, it takes a toll on him to stay so positive all times, but we’ve never ever seen him complain or show any form of disappointment, nor have any of BTS seen it.. which really says a lot about what kind of strong person Seokjin is to carry these burdens.
Yoongi: His resillience. The way he struggles through everyday with his mental state, but continues to push forward through all of it with as much confidence as he can muster for his immense skill. And through all of that, making sure to let others struggling like him know it’s okay. He’s so incredibly strong to stand infront of huge crowds like BTS does, and always giving his 110% for us despite his struggles. And his lyrics are truly such a huge inspiration, especially for our generation. So I’m always admiring him for putting to words everything that we need to hear.
Namjoon: For Namjoon I can name multiple things but on a personal thing, I really really relate to his struggles with English. I’m self taught too and while I can comprehend and write English almost perfectly, the biggest issue i have is with pronunciation.. because I’m selftaught the way I pronounce things is how i.. imagined it, rather than the correct one. And I noticed Namjoon tends to make the similar pronunciation mistakes as I do.. I never really realized why i had an accent at speaking English despite my written English being really good but after relating to namjoon’s struggles it helped me realize that bit about me.. It’s also why I admire him a lot for speaking English in interviews cause those issues are what make me really reluctant and timid about speaking English to people.. meanwhile he’s out there translating interviews and answering questions within seconds.. Takes a lot of hard work and confidence too, especially cause I”m sure it gives him a lot of anxiety too.
Hoseok: His positivity. I know people always note this, but I cannot imagine how straining and stressful it must be to constantly be so positive and to be the mood-maker every time? Yet it’s so natural with him, he’s always taking on the role without second thoughts and making sure everyone else gets in the mood as well, without forcing anyone (liek even Yoongi cannot resist his positivity lmao). And the fact that it’s so extremely hard to get him upset/angry, and how patient he is about everything, it shows such great character of him too :(
Jimin: His warm personality? The way he can make anyone feel at home around him, and he makes sure they are too. He’s a really genuinely goodhearted person, with a really soft heart that always looks out for everyone. Someone mentioned this a while ago, but he’s a true mediator. He knows exactly what to say, and knows exactly how to make sure everyone is accounted for but in such a natural way that nobody feels left out or awkward about it.
Taehyung: Idk how to explain it cause I cannot think of examples of the top of my head. But he tends to make sure that when people feel insecure about things, that they shouldn’t be?? He’s always rooting for everyone and their unique things, making sure everyone feels good about themselves. He’s a fairly unique person himself so it kind of makes sense. But generally he always stands up for people who have particular complexes, and reminds them it’s okay and will aggressively defend them.
Jungkook: I feel like i can go for too many qualities I adore but for today i’ll go for his eloquence. He’s so good in putting to words his thoughts. It’s probably cause he thinks a lot more than he shows about so many different things, so many different little things nobody notices. But being able to put those many thoughts into words is such an amazing feat, and we’re all so incredibly lucky to have a precious boy like him who constantly surprises us by how much he cares about us, and everyone around him when he finally expresses it through whether a fancafe post, a thank you video. He always knows exactly what to say, and genuinely means it. And that’s such an impressive feat!!

The Lyrics Hero: CANTOMANCER
Real name: Kashi Utau
Quirk: Lyrics
Uses song lyrics to make things happen - this can summon objects, give him additional powers, effect his surroundings or even manipulate people. The elements he summons are active and real as long as he's singing that particular song.
Even a minor mistake in lyrics completely cancels out his power. The strength and function of the quirk greatly depend on him being able to hit the right notes as he sings. The amount of emotion with which he sings also effects the power level.
                                         Patreon  ★   Commissions
[Personality, backstory, trivia & more under the cut]
Personality: Kashi generally comes across as aloof and a bit pretentious, but rarely refuses a conversation and is very relaxed when interacting with others.
However, he is very stubborn and has a hard time settling on a compromise. He is quick to anger when it comes to disagreements, as his pride won't allow him to back down, however he doesn't get aggressive as much as he gets incredibly condescending.
He is an extremely intelligent person and is very willing to help out his classmates with school work. He tends to show great generosity from time to time, as well as active loyalty. Despite being of a fairly short stature and not even remotely the strongest kid in class, he will often be the first to stand up for his own, feeling a great deal of honour and alliance - as long as he gets to be the leader. The more admiration he gets, the more loyal he is in return.
Being a class rep, he feels great responsibility to his classmates and shows genuine care, but it's mixed a lot with his bossy attitude. If he sees a classmate in distress he will generally see if it's in his power to help them. While his snobby attitude annoys many classmates, they also can't help not to at least a little admire him and all his achievements.
Kashi loves attention and he gets a lot of it from girls, because not only is his quirk gorgeous but also he's a good looking boy, polite and high class. Despite being charming and occasionally responding by flirting, which pinned him as somewhat of a womanizer, he doesn't hold any actual interest in starting a romantic relationship, as he finds the idea of having to adapt to other people in his own home entirely unattractive.
History: His father is a pro hero who places among the top 10, while his mother is successful in some other profession. Kashi shares his quirk with his mother, but she never polished it and feels somewhat ashamed for it, so she projected her insecurity on Kashi and had him polish it as much as possible and as soon as possible, in order that he wouldn't 'waste' the quirk as much as she did. On one hand, Kashi is glad that he learned to control his quirk so well, but on the other hand he hates the fact that the reason for his training was someone else's insecurity. His mother pushed him hard so that she could feel better about herself, and forced him to grow up into her perfect idea of a son, leaving him little free spirit or free choice, which is why he adapted a more rebellious persona later on, wanting to pave his own path.
His father's quirk is not very physical either, meaning he had to build up his skills as wekk, which gave him connections to some amazing martial artists who trained Kashi from an early age. He also has a very villainous-type quirk, but is a very jovial person and spends a lot of his home time with Kashi (he knows that his mom stresses him out and 'steals' him away), so Kashi learned from early age that scary quirk does not a scary person make. Knowing his dad made Kashi very accepting and understanding of people with 'villainous' quirks.
He was homeschooled and raised in a very proper manner, provided with best education to boost the effectiveness of his quirk. The exceptional preparation he was given before entering UA has made him a bit of a stuck up person at first, but like many of his mindset, he was quickly put in his place and shown that he has a ways to go before he can call himself a pro.
While his first impression made some students a bit wary, the relationships he had with his class quickly turned normal and casual.
Despite his rather traditional upbringing, everything about Kashi screams 'rebel' to his parents, and while he has great respect for his roots, he is also extremely determined to create his own path and succeed in his own way and on his own terms. This tenacity served him well as an additional boost, as it was somewhat hard for him to compete with many other students with more physical quirks. He's very proud and wants people to remember his name, which led him to studying and memorising bigger and greater songs that showcase both his vocal range and the variety and adaptability of his quirk.
Fighting style:
Due to the nature of his quirk, Kashi had to build up where it couldn't protect him. He has excellent martial arts skills that he uses for both assault and defence.
He can even enhance his physical abilities if he sings a fitting song - for a limited time he could have incredible strength or fire powers if he could find and memorise the song lyrics that could give it to him.
If it's possible at all, he tries to stay away from physical combat and sing to fight his enemies with his quirk only, however it would usually take another hero or two to give him a good cover so that he doesn't get interrupted. Sadly he can't use this quirk alone and expect to stay unnoticed, due to obvious reasons.
His regular approach to battle is by starting to sing from a far enough distance to be able to strike at least a few times before his opponent got to him, and then proceeding to either fight them off or run to a different place to get more time and sing more attacks.
He prefers using English songs for his attacks, at it gives him an advantage over his opponents due to the element of surprise - if they don't know what he's singing, they don't know what to expect.
Quirk weaknesses:
Does not have limitless voice. His voice can grow weak the more he uses it, and a raspy voice makes his attacks much weaker.
A short lapse of memory when it comes to lyrics can be deadly if it happens in a bad situation.
If the lyrics aren't exactly right, he's just wasting time.
Often he has to decide between skipping ahead to a certain verse or singing the entire song - the former allows him to use the power he needs faster, but shortens the song, while the latter takes longer for him to reach the desired power, but he can utilise other lyrics that occurs up until that point.
Getting physically exhausted makes him a very bad singer, meaning he has to balance his quirk and his fighting carefully.
Outfit info: His outfit was one of the few things that Kashi got to create all on his own, without his mother's input. He designed it in secret and didn't show it to her for approval before sending it in. He designed a very fun, upbeat costume which might speak a lot about his inner nature, which was greatly oppressed by his strict upbringing.
Because his quirk doesn't work well with stealth at all, he decided to don vivid colours for the hell of it.
He has music players on both his arms, just in case one gets broken. He has a playlist of his favourite combat songs on it.
The players are connected through the sleeves to the speakers by his neck, so that he can hear music to make it easier for him to keep a proper melody, while not having headphones that might slow his reaction time
He wears thick skin-tight black shirt and pants below the vest and shorts for some extra protection, it doesn't rip easily.
(Not shown on pictures) He has an earpiece that allows him to listen to his own voice clearer as he sings, which helps him hit the right notes.
Trivia:
Unsurprisingly, Kashi is an excellent singer. He can sing tenor, bass and everything in between.
He's fluent in English and French, which helps him with pronunciation of foreign lyrics and gives him a bigger arsenal of songs to choose from. He hardly ever uses Japanese songs in combat, as he prefers using songs that his opponents won't understand.
Hitting puberty has greatly sent back his quirk progress, as his voice broke and dropped, putting him on unknown grounds.
He's very careful not to eat or drink things that could hurt his throat. He avoids cold foods and drinks, and very spicy foods.
His casual attire is generally punk in nature.
He wears a surgeon mask in public so that he doesn't catch other people's germs
He spends a lot of time on music-related forums, looking for new songs to add to his arsenal
He kind of likes it when people have assumptions about him or underestimate him, as it allows him to blow their mind. (People often assume he can't sing as well as he claims, that he can't hit certain tunes or notes, etc)
While he loves punk rock (because it's easy for him to sing) he doesn't actually have a musical preference. He claims he can't afford limiting himself within a genre he just listens to everything.
He often switches up his battle playlist in order to remain unpredictable.
He usually chews mint gum, which stimulates his vocal chords.
Kashi loves musicals (animated as well) because they always have themed and catchy songs that he can quickly recall if he's in a bind. (He is a fan of Disney and Broadway)
Being raised rich and sheltered, he never had friends until he got into UA. He's extremely excited about finally having friends but tries to play it cool.

Spooky Scary
Plastic skeletons hung on walls outside of houses, some clanking together in the wind, now in full daylight but soon they would be lit only by the dim light of Jack-o-lanterns. Middle-aged men and women got in their cars and drove to the supermarket to load up on sweets and chocolates, while little children bounced their way to school like they were on a pre-emptive sugar high.
Parker loved Halloween. He also kind of hated Halloween.
-
“Just say it one more time, I want to make sure I’ve got this right,” he asked to probably the only person he wasn’t terrified of inconveniencing.
“Okay,” Terra said with a smile. “So the party’s starting at five, but you can just come straight home with us if you want.”
He shook his head. “I need to go home for my costume.”
“Right, well, you know how to get to my house, right?”
He nodded. Well. He wasn’t really sure how to get to the Saffron household, because no matter how many times he’d done the route, he sucked at directions, but he’d figure something out. If all else failed, he could text Isabelle and get her to virtually walk him through getting there, or he could just get lost on the streets and bother no-one. One or the other.
“I’m really excited for this party. It’s going to be really fun, we’ve decorated the house all super spooky and everything, everyone’s going to love it!” When Terra spoke about things she liked, she always tilted her head a little closer and smiled with her eyes and maybe laughed a little, but not because it was funny, just because it made her happy. She was doing it right now. The smile was infectious, and he grinned, not his nervous grin but a genuine one.
Parker took a quick look at the time on his flip phone, then pulled his schoolbag up onto his lap. “Can everyone come?”
In a fraction of a second, all the light and smileyness in Terra’s face died. “Unfortunately,” she said. She sighed and stared in Parker’s direction, but she wasn’t staring at him. She was staring past him, and Parker turned around, trying his best to follow her line of sight.
Rose and Cedrick sat at the next table. It was impossible to tell what they were saying, but Rose had her laptop out (one of the shiny Apple ones, of course) and she kept tapping on his shoulder and he kept shaking his head until finally he gave in and turned his attention to her screen. He watched whatever it was with a confused frown for a few moments while Rose stared right at him, grinning.
Terra’s voice was hard to hear now over the general din of the cafeteria, but Parker could just about make out, “What is she…?”
Something must have happened on the screen, because Cedrick jolted. He immediately went very red in the face, folded his arms and said something vicious to Rose before collecting his things and walking away.
Parker looked at Terra for an explanation of what the heck just happened.
She didn’t seem to notice his pleading look, just kept staring at Rose and shook her head. “I swear, if she pulls anything fishy at the party, I’ll end her.”
Terra’s American accent was barely noticeable most of the time, maybe because he was so used to it, but it seemed to get only more intense when she got angry. Right now she was bordering on Disney Channel levels, which made Parker worry a little. Even if he knew Terra wouldn’t hurt him, and that her anger was elsewhere directed, it still made his stomach flip when he managed to notice that kind of tone in someone’s voice.
“Oh! Don’t worry,” she said, with a smile considerably more put-on than the last one. “It’ll be fine, I guess. I just wish no-one invited her?”
Parker was about to nod when the bell rang, “See you at break,” he said, and Terra nodded before they both scurried off to their separate classes.
Parker got pretty far before he realised he had no idea where he was going. He stopped in the middle of the corridor to get his timetable out, causing a lot of exasperated sighs and hands pushing him aside to get through. He really hoped he didn’t have Maths first thing…squinting at the colour-coded boxes for a moment, and tracing the lines of the columns and rows with his finger, he was able to say pretty confidently that he had tutor group first. Which he realised, after a moment, was in the exact opposite direction than he was walking.
He had to sprint against the one-way system to get to class on time. The teacher eyed him with some weird emotion he couldn’t identify. Parker, panting, went to his table in the back of the room.
The table was just him and his elbow partner, who wasn’t here yet. The gentle buzz of chatter in the room felt safe and normal, and Parker got out his notebook and pencil case. The pencil case was a ratty old thing now, but you could still just about make out that it was designed to look like a loaf of bread. Parker laughed every time he thought about that—who would put PENCILS inside BREAD? He unzipped it and took out his pencil, which was now pretty tiny from having been sharpened so many times. The led was always snapping, so he pressed extra-lightly as he started to doodle on the lined paper of his notebook. He drew a pretty general Halloween scene at first, just some pumpkins with funny faces and a few bedsheet ghosts. His lines were shaky but he drew one of the ghosts with a Jack-o-lantern on her head, which was completely hilarious and he had a small giggling fit in the back of the room. It was then that he felt a certain presence beside him, and he swivelled around to look. Sure enough, it was Sena, taking her seat beside him with a tired kind of smile.
“Sena-sensei!” Parker greeted her excitedly. “Uh…ohayou desu?”
Their Japanese lessons were going well enough, and his pronunciation tended to be fairly spot on, but the grammar was a struggle.
“Ohayou gozaimasu,” she corrected not unpleasantly. “Or just ohayou. That’s more casual.”
He nodded and scribbled down a note in his book that he would definitely not understand when he looked back at it later. “Ohayou,” he said, and felt kind of proud of himself. “Oh!”
Sena raised an eyebrow at his exclamation.
Parker was buzzing. “Sena, Sena! How do you say ‘Happy Halloween’ in Japanese?”
Her smile changed. It was still a smile, but one with some sort of different meaning Parker couldn’t quite decipher. “In Japanese, it’s usually just ‘Happi Harouiin’.”
Parker paused. “That’s…that’s just ‘Happy Halloween’ in a Japanese accent.”
“I mean, it’s a borrowed concept, so we just render it in katakana.”
“Right, let’s get going, kids,” the teacher said. “So we’re going to talk today about the Christian influence on the modern celebration of Halloween.”
Sena said under her breath, “Oh, great.”
Parker frowned. “I didn’t think that would be your kind of thing.”
“It was sarcasm,” she said.
So Sena had been trying to joke with him. He decided to return the favour, but in a language he understood. He leant in as close to her ear as he could manage and whispered, “What room do ghosts not need?”
She grunted, and he guessed that basically meant “I don’t know, what room do ghosts not need?”
“The living room!”
Parker fell apart laughing, and half the class turned to look, and Sena might have smiled, if he squinted.
-
In French, the teacher said they could watch a movie instead. “You’re not going to listen anyway—it’s Halloween, for f…God’s sake.”
Rose stood up from her seat at the front of the class. “Ooh, sir!” she called. “I have a memory stick with movies on, I actually have the French dub of Princess and the Frog, which is like, totally scary and in the spirit and it has English subtitles and—”
“Yeah okay whatever.”
Parker thought it was probably a little strange to carry around a memory stick with movies on it that included French dubs of Disney masterpieces, but he guessed Rose was a lot smarter than him so maybe she could predict when really specific things would be useful. She grinned as she walked to the front of the class and stuck it into the USB port, and Parker felt uncomfortable, because every time Rose smiled it meant bad things. Still, he tried to swallow down the feeling and pulled out his phone to muck about until the movie was on. What to do…he decided to send a text. He may as well use all his texts for the month, seeing as they wouldn’t roll over to the next.
To: Citrus<3
“Je suis dans mon class de francais”
Cedrick wouldn’t answer until he was out of class, obviously, because even with explicit permission from a teacher he wouldn’t feel right going on his phone in class. Parker understood that, and knew he wouldn’t be getting a response until lunchtime. Texting Cedrick still made him feel somewhat better. He knew his French was probably awful, even though he couldn’t see the mistakes. He was kind of looking forward to a lecture on exactly what grammar he’d screwed up. Cedrick was one of the only people willing to discuss the intricacies of French grammar with him and it was probably the reason he wasn’t failing the class, so.
The movie flickered onto the SmartBoard and Rose took her seat again. “No need to thank me, guys,” she said to the class, which got some funny looks from pretty much everyone.
Parker liked this movie. It came out when he was nine or ten and his mum took him to see it as a special treat. He had loved the magical feeling of seeing a new Disney princess film in a movie theatre, and had cried three times in the course of Tiana’s adventure. It was different in French, probably, and he couldn’t really understand most of the words, but it was still nice. He remembered most of the dialogue anyway so it didn’t really matter.
It was in Dr Facilier’s song, Friends from the Other Side, when things started to get weird. Parker was enjoying it in that extremely on-edge way he enjoyed scary songs, and trying to recognise as many words as he could. So far he was able to comprehend “mes amis”, probably because he was specifically listening out for those words. He was gonna tell Cedrick about it at lunch or something, and maybe Cedrick would be proud and—
A shriek erupted from the SmartBoard, and the picture flashed to the picture of the Scary Maze Game girl. Parker didn’t have time to process what was going on. He screamed along with the noise and felt tears prick at his eyes as he hid under the desk. His body shook like a leaf and he hugged his knees close, trying to convince himself that maybe the monster wouldn’t find him. A few minutes passed, and whatever was happening around him was like a distant buzz of static. Nothing made sense. He just tried to breathe, closed his eyes, thought about his friends, Terra and Cedrick and Tessa and Isabelle and Sena and his mum. He told himself jokes inside his head. What do you get when you cross a sheep with a kangaroo? What do you call a fish with no eyes? Okay, he was calming down, he could see again and he could vaguely understand his surroundings, maybe, though it still felt like viewing them underwater and through smoke at the same time. He peeked his head above the desk.
“Happy Halloween, everyone!” That was Rose’s voice. It sounded…happy? Of course it did, it was Rose.
Mr Jackson has his brow furrowed, but he spoke all weird and disjointed, like he was trying not to laugh. “That’s detention, over lunch, Miss Tokas.”
Rose shrugged. “Fair!”
Parker kind of hated Halloween because the pranks weren’t funny.
“Look, Parker, are you alright?” Mr Jackson asked. Parker could only muster shaking his head and then darting out of the room to sick bay.
-
He didn’t go home. He stayed in sick bay until lunch, then he went back out to eat with Cedrick.
“So I got your text, like, five minutes ago,” Cedrick started, “I’m really impressed by the effort, and you’re surely improving, but there’s still a few mistakes.” He sat down, Parker sat down beside him. “First of all, your use of dans is a little unnatural to say the least and—are you okay?”
Parker followed Cedrick’s line of sight to Parker’s own hand, which was shaking a little. So he still wasn’t feeling all that great, or at least, his body still needed time to recover.
He shrugged. “Rose played this movie in French, and…”
“Oh Jesus, her dumb Princess and the Frog jumpscare thing?” Cedrick groaned and leant forward, resting his head in his hands. “I didn’t think she’d be brazen enough to use it in class! I mean, really, who does she think she is?” He opened his mouth as if to keep going then looked at Parker and gave a kind of conciliatory smile. “Sorry. I should have thought, and told a teacher, or at least warned you.”
Cedrick bought him lunch, one of the few vegetarian options the school offered, some shitty pasta thing, except today they were marketing the sauce as “blood sauce” so they had to ask to be sure it was suitable. Over a mouthful of his own serving of weird “vampire pie”, whatever that meant, Cedrick asked, “So what are you dressing up as today?”
“It’s a surprise!” Parker said, getting his smile back, hands probably no longer shaking.
Afternoon classes were fine, nothing particularly memorable. Just teachers trying to engage the kids with random spooky stuff. Parker felt kind of on edge, constantly having ghosts on his mind, but it wasn’t too bad. He pulled through until club time.
“Alright, motherfuckers, who’s ready for the party of their lives?” Xaidan called, sliding into a chair beside Cedrick.
Nadia was sitting on one of the counters around the side of the room, right beside the sink for chemicals and stuff. “Yeah, don’t worry guys, it’s definitely not gonna suck.”
Parker could feel his pun senses tingling.
Sena had her eyebrows raised, but what else was new.
Terra sat down beside him, on the side closest to Rose, like she was shielding him from Rose with her body. “It’s gonna be spooky!” she said, but then turned to Parker and said, “Not too spooky though, don’t worry!”
-
Parker told Cedrick he was going to walk to the Saffron’s house alone, to which Cedrick laughed. Parker blushed and frowned a little.
“Ah, sorry,” Cedrick said, clasping his hands together. “That was a little assholey, just…no, I mean…”
Parker sighed. “Fair. We all know I’m gonna get lost.”
“I’ll come with you!” Cedrick blurted out. “That’s okay, right? I know how to get to Xaidan’s, so we can get there proper on time.” He smiled a little nervously.
“Uh, sure!”
“Great. Okay, let’s go.”
The walk to Parker’s flat was largely spent holding hands and telling dumb jokes. Cedrick explained the difference between dans and en, and they discussed which was scarier, Facilier’s death or the whole other mother thing in Coraline.
When they got to the flat, Parker’s mother was home. She gave Cedrick the same weird look she always gave him, but let him sit down on the sofa and have a cracker anyway while Parker went to get changed.
Parker didn’t like looking in the mirror, but he did quickly look himself over to make sure he hadn’t put on the outfit backwards or something. He tried not to look himself in the eyes—or the eye, thanks to the eye-patch—instead just smoothing down his clothes, making sure they didn’t show too much of his body shape and then deciding he was good to go.
“How do I look?”
Cedrick and Mum looked up, Cedrick from his phone and Mum from her laptop. They both smiled, looked at each other, then looked back at him.
Parker was dressed as a pirate captain. He had some cheaply made but admittedly clunky boots on his feet, and shitty black trousers made out of something that felt kind of like cheap satin. He had a black waistcoat of the same material over a stripey white and green shirt, and a red sash tied around his waist. Over his right eye was a black plastic eye-patch from some kids’ party set out of Poundland. The real pinnacle of the outfit was the hat on his head: a black pirate captain’s hat with a skull and crossbones in the middle. In each hand he held a shiny plastic toy cutlass. He was a tiny pirate, and he looked great.
“Parker, honey, you’re adorable!” Mum said, closing her laptop, shoving it aside and coming up to get a closer look. “Aw, give us a twirl?”
He laughed a little and spun in a quick circle. “Hey Mum, do you know any good pirate jokes?”
She frowned. “Sorry, I don’t think so, but—”
“Neither do AAAAYE!” Parker squeaked a little on the last word but he doubled over laughing. His mother laughed too, helping him stand up straight again and making sure he didn’t straight up topple to the floor.
“You look great,” Cedrick said. Parker rubbed at his eyes to focus them and saw his boyfriend standing up too.
Parker smiled so hard his eyes screwed shut. “Thanks!”
As soon as they were out the flat and on their way to the Saffron house, Cedrick turned to Parker and chortled. “Okay, I didn’t say it because your mum was there, but the temptation to be like, Nice booty…”
They both stopped a moment to laugh and pressed their foreheads together.
“Are you going to dress up, Citrus?” Parker asked.
“Hm? Me? Oh, no, not really my thing.”
Parker took off his pirate hat and placed it on Cedrick’s head, then tangled his finger in a strand of Cedrick’s hair. “You’re my first mate now,” he declared proudly.
Cedrick grinned at the floor. “No, I can’t take your hat, that’s yours, it looks great on you—”
“We’re pirates together now,” Parker insisted. “Here, take one of my swords.” He pushed the handle of one of the swords into one of Cedrick’s hands.
So Cedrick paused, and then he nodded. “Arr!” he said all of a sudden, making Parker jump a little. “Oh shit, sorry!” He put his hands on Parker’s shoulders in what was probably supposed to be a calming gesture. “Well, Cap’n Parker,” he said more quietly this time, “as yer chief navigator, I reckon we should go…North! Follow the waves, arr!”
Parker followed Cedrick and grabbed his hand. “You sound Scottish, not Pirate.”
-
“AVAST YE!” called a voice that didn’t come from anyone in the living room. Nadia and Sena looked at each other.
Xaidan frowned. “That sounded like…?”
And into the room paraded Cedrick in his normal boring clothes, except now he was wearing a pirate hat and holding a fucking sword.
“What,” said Sena.
“Arrr!” Cedrick said, and everyone was probably too stunned to laugh. “Ye’d better give up all yet booty, because Cap’n Parker’s here to steal all yer doubloons!”
“Arr!” Parker appeared from behind him.
Terra clasped her hands together in delight. “Parker, you’re so scary!”
“Not as scary as Cedrick’s accent,” said Sena. Nobody heard her.
-
“It’s funny,” Nat said. “I always imagined Sena would be the vampire, but you’re pulling it off pretty well.”
Nadia grinned, showing fake giant canines. “Watch this.” She turned to Sena. “I vaant to suck your blaaaahd!”
Sena pulled her witch’s hat down over her eyes. “I will kill you in real life.”
“With a hex?”
“Shut. Up.”
-
Rose crashed through the door dressed as Satan, with a big cardboard box-container-thing of something in each hand. “What is UP, fucks?!”
Terra rolled her eyes.
“Anyway, I brought alcohol, so let’s all get wasted as fuuuuck!”
“This is not that kind of party!” Terra’s voice went so high it almost sounded like a whistle.
Rose shrugged, put her boxes on the floor and took out an alcopop. “Who wants the first drink?”
Blue shuffled up, took the drink out her hand in one smooth move and went to the corner with it.
“Blue, no!” Nat said, voice cracking a little.
Rose laughed.
-
“There is no way anyone here will pass as a kid, why are we even bothering with this?”
“I agree with Mordov,” Sena said with no tone in her voice.
Xaidan and Cedrick both pointed at Parker.
“…Point taken,” Mordov admitted. “He looks about twelve.”
“I’m thirteen!” Terra said.
Mordov pressed his lips together in a kind of ‘welp’. “I mean, he still looks younger…sucks, I guess, but what can you do?”
They set off for the nearest house with a Jack-o-lantern, and with his hat back and the little pumpkin-face sweets bag hanging on the tip of his cutlass, the people were more than happy to shower him in sugar.
By the time they went back to the house, there was just about enough for everyone.
-
The “party” wasn’t exactly wild. It was sixteen kids sitting in a living room listening to a Disney Halloween CD (almost everyone sang along to ‘Be Prepared’), occasionally with Nadia’s mum poking her head through the door to give them cake and stuff.
A couple of times, a little black shape flitted by the window and Sena tensed up. When that happened, Nadia squeezed her hand and smiled and after a moment everything was normal again.
Sena had considerably more than what would be her share of the sweets and was eating them methodically, one thing after the other, and smiling a little as she made a little pile out of the used wrappers.
“How do you have that many sweets?” Cedrick asked, exasperated. “Look, we had a plan, we has a rule that we would share the sweets evenly, and—”
“Shut up and stop being a communist, Ceddykins,” Rose said through a yawn. “It’s just sugar. No big deal.”
Xaidan reached out as casually as she could muster to try and steal a bar of chocolate from Sena’s pile. Sena slapped her hand away and gave her a warning glare.
“Aw, c’mon Sena, play nice,” Nat said.
Sena laughed joylessly. “I’m not sharing.”
“You know,” Blue said, putting their hands together and leaning forward, “I could really do with some more sugar. And also some more alcohol.”
Nat threw a pack of Skittles at them, and it hit them in the back of the head. “That’s all you’re getting.”
Blue pouted. “That’s no fun.”
Nat shook his head, slipping several more sweets into Blue’s pile.
“Since you’re American, we don’t have to do anything dumb, right?” Rose stretched and took off her devil horns, without which her makeup looked very dumb indeed. “Like, dooking for apples or whatever it’s called?”
Nadia blinked. “What…the fuck is that.”
“Biting apples in a tub of water,” Isabelle explained.
“Did someone say biting?” Nadia said. She leant in close to Sena’s neck. “You know vat I vant to suck?”
“I have nooo idea,” Sena said, with her voice devoid of energy, like the sugar had just been drained out of her.
“Hey, here’s an idea,” Terra said. “Let’s watch a movie.”
They ended the night watching The Nightmare Before Christmas, and because he could just hide behind Terra or Cedrick when it got too much, it was just the right amount of spooky for Parker.

Odds for Wendell 👀
OOOO YEA THANKS DROW!! puttin this baby under a readmore because of the length >:)
1. How does your character think of their father? What do they hate and love about him? What influence - literal or imagined - did the father have?
Wendell’s father wasn’t exactly the most warm and open person in the world and was a stark contrast to Wendell himself. He was always very stern and cold towards him, spending most of his time either watching television or reading the paper. He seldom interacted with Wendell or his wife, even. He didn’t even treat his coworkers or friends nicely either.
Even though Wendell got most of his support from his mother, he did take inspiration from his father and decided that if he was ever going to be a father, husband,or just a person in general, that he’d be the kindest he could ever be to anyone.
3. Brothers, sisters? Who do they like? Why? What do they despise about their siblings?
Only one brother; he got shot and killed when Wendell was a teenager for an affair.
5. Were they overprotected as a child? Sheltered?
In a way, yes. Due to Wendell’s father’s negligence, his mother often took the reigns but often babied him. This is where Wendell’s dismay (but not hate) would come in for his mother.
7. What was the economic status of their family?
High class. His family line was so well to do. Wendell never understood the big deal about money- but of course, he never had to worry about going broke. He was never prudish about it, but the gravity of not having any money was foreign to him.
9. What about political beliefs?
He’s more for what’s considered left, all the way. Politics tends to stress him out, however.
11. How do they see themselves: as smart, as intelligent, uneducated?
He’s aware that he’s very smart and educated, but because of his wanting-to-please-everyone personality, he tends to say that he’s not over minor mistakes.
13. Did they like school? Teachers? Schoolmates?
Wendell was definitely a teacher’s pet. He loved school, and was the friendliest child. However, this often made him a target for bullying. Wendell is sweet, but also incredibly gullible and submissive.
15. Did they graduate? High-School? College? Do they have a PHD? A GED?
Wendell graduated from a university with a Psy.D (doctor of psychology degree).
17. Did they travel? Where? Why? When?
Wendell traveled from North Dakota to Boston after he graduated as a way of “starting his new chapter in his life”.
19. What were your character’s deepest disillusions? In life? What are they now?
He definitely didn’t think the world was as cruel as everyone said it was, and expected his love to almost, in a way, cure most of it, if not all. It wasn’t until he began regressing from his raider life that he realized he was right, but he just approached it wrong.
21. What are your character’s manners like? What is their type of hero? Whom do they hate?
Wendell is incredibly polite and well mannered, even taking a step further to make sure everyone else’s needs were met before his. He tends to look up to those who genuinely care about others and do what they can for them, and tends to resent those who are selfish and refuses to do anything that doesn’t interest them. This still stands true even after the war.
23. What do they want from a partner? What do they think and feel of sex?
Just someone’s who patient and kind like he is, someone with a great sense of humor too. As for sex, it was kind of awkward for him before the war. It wasn’t necessarily taboo per say, but it was one of those things that was hard to be open about during that time, even with his wife. After the war, and when he had settled down with Jude, he has...made quite a few discoveries about himself.
25. What are their hobbies and interests?
Prewar, Wendell enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and attending social activities such as the book club. Postwar, Wendell still gardens and has garnered skills in armory. Both past and present Wendell thoroughly enjoys movies with horror being his favorite genre (even though it scares him shitless).
27. How do they relate to their appearance? How do they wear their clothing? Style? Quality?
Hmmmm I have a draft of what his outfit is like now, but I’m not done with it. I’ll get back to this one.
29. What is your character’s weaknesses? Hubris? Pride? Controlling?
Wendell was essentially a doormat before the war, but now he’s a bit hard to get across. Too soft then, too hard now.
31. Does your character have children? How do they feel about their parental role? About the children? How do the children relate?
Not too long before the bombs had dropped, he and his wife were discussing the possibility of having a child or children. It made him nervous but he was excited thinking about being a father. Now he really can’t fathom raising a child in such a dangerous enviorment- he wouldn’t be able to handle it.
33. Do they drink? Take drugs? What about their health?
Due to Wendell’s mutation following the experimentation of Vault-Tec, Wendell’s body either reacts very harshly to chems and alcohol or not at all. He couldn’t drink anyway because of how aggressive it makes him. Again, due to his mutation, his healing rate is very quick and can even survive being blown to pieces, but has a poor immune system; this means that even a cold has a chance of killing him.
35. Do they always rationalize errors? How do they accept disasters and failures?
He tends to shrug them off without thinking about it, mainly as a coping mechanism.
37. How is your character’s imagination? Daydreaming a lot? Worried most of the time? Living in memories?
Wendell is definitely a dreamer. Memories are much too painful for him now, so he tends to stay as focused on the present as possible; even dodging questions that refer to his past. As for imagination, he’s pretty creative, but not the most creative person in the world.
39. What do they like to ridicule? What do they find stupid?
He hates people who are needlessly pessimistic and hateful for no reason, though now he can understand.
41. Is your character aware of who they are? Strengths? Weaknesses? Idiosyncrasies? Capable of self-irony?
He’s definitely aware of himself much more than in the past, now that he’s seen some of what he’s capable of. He just wishes it was less traumatizing, is all.
43. Does your character have any secrets? If so, are they holding them back?
His major secret is simply his past, which everyone in the settlement he’s in knows about it, but refuses to tell anything to strangers. Other secret is that he accidentally hit the neighbor’s cat and lied to them saying that he found it in the road, and cried about it for a long time. It still guilts him to this day.
45. Is your character pragmatic? Think first? Responsible? All action? A visionary? Passionate? Quixotic?
Tends to be more idealistic over practical, which often gets him in trouble. Can take the lead and be responsible when needed.
47. Do they want to project an image of a younger, older, more important person? Does they want to be visible or invisible?
He still wants to make a mark on the world with kindness, but he knows now how to do it. He doesn’t want to be famous, he just wants to help people. He doesn’t want anybody to go through what he did.
49. What about voice? Pitch? Strength? Tempo and rhythm of speech? Pronunciation? Accent?
His voice is...goofy, the best way described. You see him, all donned in raider-esque garb, looking pretty scary and then comes this bright, cheerful, maybe even nasally “Hellllllooo!”. It definitely catches you off guard.

"Relational Centeredness"
Research wasn’t exactly my strong suit in high school, but in my early 20s, I developed a hunger for learning new things. Fast forward several years and it has become so much deeper of a search than I could have ever imagined, and now while I continue seeking out every aspect of the truth, paired with the life experiences that have expanded that search, I am also learning to ask the right questions; core value questions. Sometimes we’re given others to help us with certain topics – mentors who don’t necessarily give us the answer, but stretch ourselves to the understanding that the answers are within our own grasp. Let me ask, what is your “teachability” index: Who are you listening to? What are their fruits? What is their skill level? Are they willing to let you learn from them? Do they have your best interest at heart? I often see information online that is posted regarding this faith and I’m struck by how similar we are coming into it. If we have integrated in from another faith, we inevitably go through what looks like stages of grief: anger, sadness, denial, and even panic seeing others stuck behind the veil. The chronology of my own writings reveal the stages I was at in my transition and growth. It all feels like you’ve come out of a dream though, seeing the entire canvas of scripture – in awe! So many things that are vital to growth had previously been drowned in a sea of religion; truth has been trampled on and scriptures edited and twisted. For all the chaos, mistakes, heartache, and backsliding a few decades of religion had brought me, my newfound faith brought the realization of just how simple and easy a faith walk with Yeshua really is; we sometimes make it hard though. While I have come to an understanding of what I believe His Spirit gave to me to be His true name, to others, it may have been different. Perhaps His name is pronounced differently based on the dialect of whatever tribe you belong to or have been grafted in to, but regardless, to harp on it is a source of contention and (1) “if at all possible, live in peace.” At the same time, His name is just as important as His character. Hebrew language is much more complex and emotional than Greek and we’re uncovering just how much was lost in translation. As such, I realize that the character of Yeshua, so often portrayed as soft-spoken and a weakly interacting individual, (2) had a following of thousands and while we see Him (3) weep at the death of Lazarus, have (4) compassion on many to heal them, and (5) feed thousands, it is also easily found in scripture of Him calling others (6) “hypocrite”, (7) “vipers”, (8) “fools”, and even (9) “Satan”. Father revealed to me that the Bible wasn’t written for the world. The narrative of scripture was intended for His people and for those of His who are lost (backsliding). Yeshua Himself stated that He (10) came not for the world but for the lost sheep. The (11) tares, (12) goats, and the (13) “world who hated Him first” are not those that the scriptures were written to. Anyone (14) CAN be saved, but He doesn’t force the (15) gift on anyone. He (16) chose (meaning there’s a choice to be had) and (17) will have mercy on those whom He will have mercy on (meaning some won’t). While the world has the misconception that all are saved cart blanche because (18) “God so loved the world”, it is those who believe and (19) “Hear and Obey” that are saved. It is in that misconception that you see the world cherry picking scriptures to try and guilt those in churches into a place of acceptance of sin through the (20) misinterpreted “judge not” agenda. And we see now from the outside how the churches are compromising their values instead of (21) properly correcting one’s neighbor. When I (22) came out of the worldly celebrations and into the (23) feasts of YaHWeH (God), the beautiful picture of prophesies fulfilled came into view. We see the entire backdrop of scripture paint a masterpiece of the (24) Lamb of God through the Passover, First Fruits, and even Sukkot (which technically is said to have not been fulfilled – as well as two other feasts - but is reflected in the miracle of Yeshua’s birth). We see the New Testament not as a replacement, but as a compass always pointing north (25) back to Torah. Each step along the way, Father was pruning away the unfruitful areas of my life, sweeping out the dirt, shedding light on new truths and bringing clarity while removing the denominational lenses that had been so prevalent before. I realized that there is so much ambiguity to what Sabbath means to each person; we know what is mentioned, but there’s so much that isn’t and when you research the original Hebrew words, new revelations joyfully spring forth. When Father showed me that He wanted (26) His Spirit to teach and grow my faith, a new understanding of assembly was shown; (27) I am of HIS flock and I know HIS voice. The definitions of all His names have taken on new meanings when you read that He is the (28) “great physician” and worldly medications are (29) “Pharmakeia” and when paired with (30) clean eating, the reasons behind His perfect and symbiotic system reveal themselves flawlessly. A large part of the puzzle was seen when I started praying for the revelation of what love looks like and what it feels like. The facets of His love are too numerous to count. The permissions to (31) express my emotions in a healthy way, within the permeating safety of His Spirit, (32) the Comforter, gave new perspective to His desire to be an integral part of every aspect of my life. For me, it seemed that if I stifled my emotions within the (33) new creation that I have become, then I was stifling His Ruach HaKodesh that (34) resides within me – His temple. Religions with their buildings and traditions mask the authenticity of faith and lack the daily interaction and communication with Yeshua our Brother which keeps us centered with Yeshua. We seem determined to hammer out the fact that love is an action (35) and not a feeling, but we’re missing the fact that there are emotions there that we’re wired to express that seems to be quenched in the midst of it all. (36) Compassion and empathy and kindness are not to be forgotten. While we are to be helping each other grow with the understanding that this community is there to help keep each other accountable, we have to understand that this is exactly why it is the Holy Spirit has been tasked to be our teacher because He knows where we are at in this walk and what we need. I realized that when the Holy Spirit, the Comforter began to teach me, then the rituals, added mysticism, denominational creeds, and others’ interpretations that are not authentic to a committed and genuine relationship with Yeshua, began to fall away allowing me to be (37) centered with Father and into a place of true freedom. The understanding of this faith that it is not a religion lead me to the understanding that when we’re stuck in tradition, we put another man behind a pulpit who has no idea where each individual is in their walk or what each individual needs. When we end up putting others on a pedestal, we run the risk of breaking commands; of putting (38) another god before HIM. When we listen to someone else tell us what scripture says, we miss out on what He’s trying to tell us (39) directly – as intended. We’re locked into a pattern of obligation to tradition and religion, instead of the understanding that Yeshua is not only our King, but our (40) blood brother and (41) friend. The relationship, the daily interaction with our Brother Yeshua and YaHWeH our Father is how we find that “relational centeredness” that fits the entire picture of His love into our purview. All the other aspects of this walk become second nature and He lets us know how to interact with others who are at different places in their walk; calendar, Seder, pronunciation of His name, etc. Finding that forgiveness is a (42) process, it also gives me permission to forgive myself because I’m not “there” yet, but always (43) “getting there” and the fact that His Ruach HaKodesh is growing me, is a fantastic place to be. When we (44) “still” our lives and listen, we’ll hear (45) His voice. When we (46) “stay in Him”, then “He’ll stay in us”. We were made in (47) His image and in His likeness. (48) Obedience without relationship is a burden. Yeshua is in the (49) business of restoration; restoring our relationship with Father – no one comes to the Father except through Yeshua. The key is that it isn’t just about obedience because, of course, that is part of our obligation, but it’s also about (50) listening; “HEAR and obey” – relationship. Three mentors that I have in my life right now are ones that always ask the right questions first, “What has Father told you?” “What does scripture say?” and “Have you asked Father to show you?” They gently guide me – asking, not telling - to the conclusion that lines up with scripture – and IN CONTEXT – as it should be and that’s the healthy kind of mentorship that, like Yeshua and the New Testament, points us to the Father and a “relational centeredness” with Him. When we are in covenant with Father, (51) nothing can separate us from Him; (52) He who never changes.
