You left Kaveh to go to class, after the interaction you just had you really did not want to be here. As you entered the class room, you in your usual spot and threw your bag down; by the time you had gotten your books out he had walked in, and once again sat down right next to you. You groaned. It was going to be a long lesson.

You quickly put your phone away as the professor arrived, you glanced over at scaramouche seeing that he did the same.

“Alright class, for the next few weeks we’re going to be working on a project. I have randomly assigned you partners based upon your grades and the topics you are to research. If you come to the front of the class you’ll see I’ve put up the list. I want for the rest of the lesson you guys to converse with your partners and figure out the time frames for you guys to work together. Remember this is about teamwork and communication. So please everyone try to get along”

You held your breath. A group project. Great. You knew this was your weakness, you hated working alongside other people and much preferred to grind out the work last minute in the middle of the night. Anyway, you rose to your feet and slowly made your way to the front of the classroom. You dreaded what was going to be up infront of you. But if it was based on grades…you knew there was only one person in this class ranking above you. Surely, the gods wouldn’t be that cruel…right?

Context: Jin is one of my Dragon Prince ocs. She's a Katolis Crownguard under King Harrow. Her husband Zane (also a Crownguard) was killed defending Harrow, and she sided with Viren on a quest for revenge. Her story starts in the aftermath of the Season 3 finale, where she was transformed by dark magic alongside his entire army. (More information to come when I have the time)

Jin was surrounded by darkness, no longer the angry, invincible, uncontrollable monster but herself before the painful transformation. Breathing raggedly, she touched her face, her arms, her breastplate. All seemed to be normal. As it should be. The darkness pressed in, threatening to choke her.

"Jin."

She whirled around, fists raised. Behind her, the darkness opened to reveal something in the distance. A pile of some sort? Jin approached hesitantly, preferring the mysterious light over the suffocating darkness. Her breath caught in her throat when she got close. It was a pile of hundreds of battle axes, all spattered and stained with blood.

"Why are you fighting, Jin?" someone—or something—hissed in her ear.

Jin flinched away and punched in the direction of the voice. But her fists only found air. "Who are you?" She demanded, glancing around wildly.

"Why do you resist?" The voice was accompanied by swirling smoke that formed into one of the monsters, the ones who were once human like her, changed by dark magic. Jin backed away.

"You only weaken yourself by fighting your true nature." The monster hissed in a familiar voice. Jin's voice, like when it echoed in the throne room. "Stop resisting!"

The last word came as a roar. Monster-Jin lunged, swiping with her claws. Jin ducked away, dodging around the heap of weaponry. She grabbed the nearest ax and hefted its weight. The handle fit her hand perfectly like it was her ax.

Jin charged the monster, using her own momentum to bring the ax over her head and down in a killing stroke. It would have cleaved the monster in two. But it caught the ax in its claws with ease.

"Please, Jin, you're embarrassing yourself," Monster-Jin snarled. Jin tugged at the ax, but the monster held on with terrible strength. The metal turned red hot and began to melt. Jin dropped the weapon and tried to flee, but it lunged and snatched her collar. Its knuckles brushed against her throat, and she gasped at the intense heat radiating from its skin.

"You really think you can hold your own against me? You're weak! Give in, and gain strength never seen before!"

Jin swayed, overcome by dizziness, and suddenly she was the monster. "No!" She cried out, staring at her hands, tipped with talons carved from molten stone, "I didn't want this! I never wanted this..."

"What did you want, then?" Jin started and turned as Zane's voice reached her ears. He stood several feet away, facing her, clutching his sword. "You brought this upon yourself.”

Jin fell to her knees, staring at her hands. The hands of a killer, the hands of a monster. "I was angry!" She shouted, the darkness swallowing the sound. "I was angry at the elves, for killing my king, for killing you! I'm a monster, Zane! I never deserved your love."

Zane sheathed his sword and stepped forward. "You think your anger makes you a beast? I disagree." He took another step, and he was in front of her. "I think anger is what makes you human."

Even kneeling, she towered over him. "Do you even see me, Zane? I chose to follow Viren, and he made me...this!"

He looked up at her. Oh, how she missed the way he looked at her. "Anger is an emotion, one of many emotions we have. And it's a struggle. I know you always struggled with it."

Jin closed her eyes. "Except now it has changed me, irrevocably. How can you look at me and say I'm still human?"

"It's a part of our nature as humans to struggle with our emotions,” he said softly, “So what if you have a little bit more trouble with yours? Perhaps it should be an incentive to watch yourself, keep yourself from doing something foolish."

A lump formed in Jin's throat. She opened her eyes and discovered that she was no longer the monster but regular human Jin. Zane knelt in front of her and held out his hand. Jin hesitated before reaching out, but it dissolved into smoke. "No!" She protested, reaching out for him as he vanished. 

The darkness rushed in his wake and swallowed her whole. The air swirled around her violently, whipping at her hair and face. Jin whimpered and curled up in the fetal position in a weak attempt to ward it off. "Please..." She murmured, "let me out... Please..."

Voices echoed through the rushing gale. 

“Not breathing. No heartbeat.”

“...She’s not wearing a broken link badge.”

“So?”

“So why isn’t she one of… them? And look at the dead around her….”

“Fair point. I’ll mention it to the king. But our concern right now is the dying.”

Silence.

Silence.

Silence.

Jin opened her eyes to find the sky above the battlefields streaked with brilliant reds, yellows, and violets, the stars beginning to show themselves at the edge of the night. She was cold.

So very cold.

And alone, save for the dead.

She found her battle ax lying on the ground nearby, covered with so much blood it was nearly unrecognizable. She tried to ignore the bodies around her as she picked it up and slid the weapon onto her back.

Most of the living were gathered across the battlefield, a sprawl of tents dotting the landscape at the base of the Storm Spire. Jin was at the southern edge of the carnage, about as far as one could get from the mountain. She gazed at the camp in silence.

If she went there, she would no doubt be arrested as a traitor to the crown and live out the rest of her days in prison. She glanced down at her hands and on a whim, carefully pulled off one of her gloves. 

Her breath caught in her throat. The veins under her skin glowed like hot, flowing magma. The transformation had changed her, irrevocably so. She might appear human now, but the monster was still there.

Jin knew what would happen over that little detail. She didn’t want to know.

Perhaps it would have been better if she had died in the battle. They already thought she had.

Face burning with shame—or perhaps the fire in her blood—Jin turned away from the Storm Spire and faced south. She steeled herself, considering this route. Was it truly better than the alternative?

It had to be.

It must be.

Jin didn’t allow herself to dwell upon it before she fled into the night.

Ok so this did not go the way it was planned at all so I am sorry about that. The prompt completely ran away with me. Apologies if you hate it!

Trigger Warning: Attempted Sexual Assault.

It was coming up the end of Brian’s shift in Molly’s when you stood at the end of the bar and held up the pack of Marlboroughs for him to see. He held up two fingers in the shape of peace sign indicating he’d follow you out in two minutes before continuing to take Antonio Dawson’s drinks order. You slinked through the fire door and out into the alleyway at the back, leaving it ajar.

You didn’t usually smoke and neither Brian but there were times after a hard day that the two of you would sneak out and share a cigarette. It was a quick stress release when the two of you could barely get a moment together.

It had been a bad day, hell a bad couple of weeks if you were honest. The two of you had been working crazy shifts due to staff sickness in both departments. You’d barely seen one another, let alone had a chance to work off some tension. On top of that Roman was on vacation so you were stuck with a neanderthal with what you suspected were intentionally grabby hands. Once was an accident, three times were a pattern, you had nothing solid to report which was the frustrating part. You were glad Roman was back on Monday so you didn’t have to deal with the prick.

You plucked a cigarette from the pack and placed it between your lips, cupping your hand around the end to protect the flame from the wind when you heard the creak of the side door.

“Nearly started without you.” You muttered, flicking the lid of the Zippo shut and slipping it back into your jacket pocket.

“Didn’t know you were planning to share.”

That familiar voice startled you; you twisted your head to see Dylan, the prick and your current partner standing alongside of you.

For fuck’s sake this guy not give you a moment of peace.

“What do you want Dylan?” You asked inhaling deeply, filling your lungs full of smoke before exhaling out of your nose.

It didn’t give the same relief as it usually did. You thought it was because Brian wasn’t out here with you. He usually had a smart-ass comment or a funny story he’d tell you while he blew smoke rings out of his mouth. Jesus, you missed being around that man.

“Let me bum a smoke.” Dylan said, his shoulder coming to rest upon the wall.

He was standing uncomfortably close, but you weren’t about to let him intimidate you. He was the type of man that pressed your buttons until he found your weakness and when he did, he would use it against you like knife straight in the back.

“Only got one left.” You told him, taking another drag. “And it’s got someone else’s name on it.”

“I don’t mind sharing yours.” He said, plucking the cigarette out of your mouth. He placed it between his lips, sucking in the smoke before blowing it into your face. “In fact, I prefer it.”

“You are such an asshole.” You responded, snatching the cigarette from his mouth, and dropping it to the ground, grinding it into the concrete with your shoe.

“And you are such a bitch.” He snapped back, his eyes glittered with something you didn’t like. Something cold and predatory. “You’ve been riding me hard all week, you know what it’s like to have to listen to someone like you?”

“A woman?” You retorted, resisting the urge to shove him away from you. “One that’s technically your superior officer?”

You met his gaze with as much venom as you could muster. He wasn’t the first asshole in the department you’d had to deal with, and he certainly wouldn’t be the last. Guys like him liked to paw the boundaries, to goad you into doing something you’d regret. You felt the frustration of that coiled like a snake in the pit of your stomach, the indignant rage seeping through into your eyes. You had to walk a very fine line.  It took everything in you not to lash out, not to tell him every single thing you thought about him and the way HE did HIS job.

“I’m done taking orders from you.” He told you, the look in his eyes twisting into something darker.

“After today you’re not my problem any…”

You didn’t see the punch coming, you’d been too fixated on biting your tongue that you hadn’t read the tension in his shoulder, hadn’t took note of his clenched fist. You caught it on the jaw, turning your head and altering the trajectory of your body as it sent you careening into the wall. The sudden eruption of pain shocked your senses, the right side of your face felt like it had been hit by a truck. There was warmth trickling down your face, it took you a second to realise you’d hit your head on the wall, scraping your face.

The adrenaline coursed through your veins as you kicked out at his knee. The boot impacted, catching him straight in the joint. His knee crumpling underneath him. He screamed, a visceral, primal sound that was drowned out by the music from the bar. You darted for the door, his hand enclosed on your jacket, with the intention of yanking you back. You shrugged out of it, slipping out of his grasp before launching yourself at the fire door before realising the bastard had let it close all the way.

He lashed out, gripping you by the hair. His fingers raking across your scalp as he snatched at the roots and threw you back against the wall. This time the back of your head hit it, your vision darkened and blurred, blood roared in your ears before he delivered a sucker punch that knocked the air right out of your lungs.

You couldn’t breathe, you couldn’t think, there was just agony lancing through your chest as you tried to draw in oxygen. His hand grasped you by the throat, fingers pinching at the tender flesh as he forced your head up so that he could look into your eyes.

“You are not in charge here.” He hissed through grinding teeth, his weight listing slightly to right as he tried to keep the weight off his injured knee. “I’m going to leave you here, destroyed in this alleyway and when they find you it won’t matter who you used to be, they’ll just see you for what you are. Worthless and ruined.”

You grabbed his wrist, your thumb delving deep into pressure point in an attempt to loosen his hold. He smashed your head against the wall again, your head span, the dizziness followed by a nausea that felt so acute that it was debilitating.

“Why can’t you fucking behave?”

His free hand snatched at the collar of your shirt, you heard fabric rip and the clatter of buttons against pavement. You made a fist with your right hand and drove it straight io the crook of his elbow causing it to buckle outwards, his fingers slipping from your throat.

For a second there was blessed relief, you could breathe again

There was a bellow of pure fury as the fire door slammed open. Brian’s voice was in your ears, his words blurring together as he pounced on Dylan with a brutality that you had never seen before. The first punch broke his nose, you heard the crunch of bone before he followed up with another and another. He was relentless, punishing. You knew that he would kill the other man if you didn’t intervene.

What other people didn’t know was that there was a fire in Brian, a furious deep urge to protect those that he loved. You’d seen it during call outs the two of you had worked together, heard it from Cruz but this was the first time it had happened because of you.

“Brian.” You said trying to instil a sense of calm into the situation. Your gentle fingers wrapped around his wrist as he drew back to hit Dylan again. “He’s down. He’s not getting back up.”

He looked at the man underneath him, his chest heaving with exertion as he stared at that bloody face.

“I would have killed him.” He murmured, his mouth fixing into a thin grim line. “I wanted to.”

“Help me out instead.” You requested.

His attention snapped back to you, his focus returning as he drank in the sight before him. You were a mess, you knew that. He spat a curse before he stripped off the yellow and blue plaid shirt that he wore over a black t shirt, and draped it over your shoulders in order to preserve some of your dignity. He helped you into it, fastening up the buttons when your shaking fingers couldn’t.

“Дорогой, моя любовь, мое солнышко.” he said, slipping into Russian as he cupped your face between his hands.

My darling, my love, my sunshine.

Those words, they meant everything, they kept you tethered and grounded as he looped an arm around your waist and guided you back inside to safety.

2. Was there something about the character creator that just couldn't capture your Character? Please tell us about their hair, facial hair, tattoos, piercings, disabilities, their trans or intersex body, or anything else you're comfortable sharing.

plenty of stuff, actually! a quick list (and then summary) would be jae'ku'sureth's (or VENA CAVA's) eyes, thick brows, cheekbones, and sharper jawline, and a more curvaceous body type than the game currently offers for body type 1.

starting with the eyes, due to her poor sleeping habits, mental breakdowns that include crying, and severe eye strain, jae'ku'sureth's eyes often appear red or irritated at times. she averages about ~4-6 hours of sleep, evading her duties as g'lathk-varsh in preference of obsessing over necromancy and "creating an immortal, invincible army for vlaakith" so that she may be recognized. instead of sleeping, she peers over tir'su slates and githyanki medallions containing astral knowledge - and spends over half of her days carrying out unapproved or unsanctioned medical experiments. other times, she has mental breakdowns due to the constant pressure and fear of her kin - despite her paradoxical love for her creche and people. (other times, their eyes may appear pure red should ocular trauma or sudden bleeding occur.)

as for her face - due to where i grew up, i imagine jae'ku'sureth has more prominent cheekbones than what's in the game, as well as thicker lips/bigger mouth. same goes for thicker brows. i know some people in my reservation have these features - though i know a lot of people also pluck them. mainly my inspo for jae's face derives from a few of the wide variety of anishinaabe features but also historical oji-cree/ojibwe women whom i look up to greatly.

finally, for their body - i imagine jae'ku'sureth is taller than other body type 1 gith, but also has a more pronounced chest and hips, yet their skin and physique lends themself more to a ballerina, spindly type build.

this is mainly due to the fact that when they spellcast or maintain concentration spells, they dance - not because the dancing is a physical or material component, but rather its an instinctive action she thinks will make her spellcasting better. almost like a placebo. imagine leaning when you steer a corner in a racing game - it's like that, but magic. ballet's been a long interest of mine, as well as figure skating - so i borrowed from performances. since i dont have many characters with jae's body type either, i thought it would've been gnc to give it to the character whose gith-variant who has a beard like gandalf

17. What does your Character think of Withers?

due to jae'ku'sureth's grand ideations of necromancy, and the belief that THEY will be the one to grant everlasting-life to githyanki, they adore withers and necromancy - to an unhealthy extent. jae'ku'sureth has a one-sided comfort and over-familiarity with withers, opening up to him far more quickly than they do with the other companions or tav. withers recognizes this - but also recognizes them as an adult woman. jae'ku'sureth does not revere necromancy, they dont revel or worship it like some filthy ekor - they recognize the simpering moulding blood and oxidation its held for githyanki and gith - who remains missing! the tenants it filthily dangles over their own weak and their kins' heads tauntingly - reminding them to achieve greater and greater accomplishments! the tether between breathing and bleeding- the reminder of the eternal despite the sharp pangs in your gut and your scratched throat from cries of pain! withers worshipped a god, but like... "mortals!" she'll work alongside him instead - collaboration rather than equipping man like tool like ekor-k'ya disrespectfully do! .... are they getting off-topic? tk! let that be her answer, then. that is her relationship to withers.

23. What are your Character's thoughts on the dream visitor?

since i consider jae'ku'sureth a companion/origin character rather than a tadpoled adventurer, i think they have a dream "lover" as was patched out of EA rather than a dream visitor in full release. as the emperor connects to her mind through the githyanki artefact, and sees jae'ku'sureth's memories of olytin aleantar, it initially mistakes jae'ku'sureth's apprehension and ignored unease of olytin as romantic feelings and attraction. this is also due to olytin's unrequited feelings of attraction to jae'ku'sureth, that jae'ku'sureth subconsciously chooses to ignore.

at first, jae'ku'sureth thinks little to nothing of olytin - an emmissary of eilistraee who one day showed up to her creche, seeking an alliance. working with kith'raks and knights of creche mir'ha'r'tal and offering her skills as an assassin and warrior - alongside poached jewels from olytin's sect of eilistraee. at some point, olytin approached jae'ku'sureth, seeking to get to know the woman better. jae'ku'sureth was scared of strangers at best and aggressive at worst, but olytin proved time and time again to be harmless. utilizing mir'ha'r'tal's "a favour for a favour" political relations, jae'ku'sureth instantly struck up a deal with olytin. olytin can spend time with jae'ku'sureth and have unimpeded access to her pop-up laboratories, and in exchange, jae'ku'sureth gets to dissect her and experiment on olytin's body for their own grand design.

on the surface, everything seemed alright - or, that olytin got the short end of the stick. but jae'ku'sureth's blind trust in olytin was the wrong move. despite the back of jae'ku'sureth's mind picking up on all the red flags olytin showed towards her - incessent attempts to talk late into the hours of the night, showing up outside one of mir'ha'r'tal's many hatcheries where jae'ku'sureth was placed, jae'ku'sureth waking up to finding olytin next to her or watching her sleep, or even olytin wanting to hold their hand against jae'ku'sureth's own wishes - jae'ku'sureth chose to ""underestimate"" olytin. ...or rather, jae'ku'sureth decided to take the chance to trust this stranger in her community for hopes of a mutually beneficial relationship. a mutually beneficial relationship, that'd see creating invincibility and undying for her kin - in hopes that they'd finally recognize and respect her, that she won't be hurt or struggling anymore. olytin left an uneasy feeling in the back of jae'ku'sureth's mind. oftentimes she wished she would leave - but this all came to the surface once the campaign started and jae'ku'sureth began having dreams in earnest of olytin's romantic intent - and she recognized it as malicious. rightfully so, because olytin is revealed to be a cultist of bane. adhering to the depraved and amoral - in every sense of the word. seeking to take mir'ha'r'tal's resources and "correct" the gith living there. there - she found jae'ku'sureth. one who made her smile. and she didn't like that. an obsession, love-hate developed. and olytin begun to hunt down jae'ku'sureth, leading the former to become an avatar of bane. it didnt help that during all of this, jae'ku'sureth's stomach pains were revealed to be from a rather haunting memory - a third party vivisecting and experimenting on her - where she didn't believe she was touchable. it was by a group of mindflayers initially, but the psionic interference of generations under their regime made jae misremember - that it was olytin who opened up her stomach. of course, olytin anticipated a struggle. her true feelings and intentions came out, the red flags became banners - and jae'ku'sureth hated every single moment of it. neutrality or dismissal turned into feelings of ever-burning hatred and disgust, and jae'ku'sureth decided: she'd kill olytin, in contrast to the latter's vacillation of wanting jae dead and alive. at this point, it no longer about avoidance - but rather jae'ku'sureth's own decision. eventually, jae'ku'sureth confronts the emperor about olytin - and demands it expel thoughts of her from their mind. thankfully, it obliges, and they form an alliance for the short while.

i mentioned before that olytin came to mir'ha'r'tal as an emissary. she is intended to be a metaphor of colonialism and colonization in canada. the church coming in - intentions as malicious as ever. olytin is conventionally attractive, highly charismatic. almost disarming at times.

35. Has your Character done anything that they regret in Act 1?

jae'ku'sureth has nothing she regrets in act 1. what she knows she has done her best to achieve - and if anything needs to be rectified, it can be rectified immediately in the present and in the near future. this mindset is what kept jae'ku'sureth alive in mir'ha'r'tal-tu'narath, and the brutal efficiency of it allows her to dominate the fast-paced world of toril, despite her unseeming and hermit-ish nature. though, if something to regret is their unapologetic nature and seeming disregard, then they'll apologize again and again. she'll be earnest every time.

her mind - it moves fast.

41. Is your Character accustomed to being on the road from before the events of the adventure?

no. and she NEVER will be. nor do they want to be.

following their rite of passage into gith society and presenting the ghaik head to vlaakith CVLII, jae'ku'sureth was placed into the lowest caste of gith society - g'lathk, the farmers' caste. what they were trained for. even more humiliatingly, jae'ku'sureth was to be a varsh. teaching children the most basic of skills because those were the only things she were the most proficient in. her placements were due to an unfortunate fact - that jae'ku'sureth was no warrior. she couldn't hold a sword the same way her kin could, and she couldnt work or be bothered with blueprints the way the other yank training to be mlar could. in fact, jae'ku'sureth slacked off in whatever training she could get away with - and showed a lack of engagement or devotion. preferring to idle away the hours in her own interests and beliefs. she would've - and should've - been culled. in fact, this was attempted against her time and time again, by her varshes, her fellow yank, and again by her kin as an adult. but one thing jae'ku'sureth had - was her wits, and her 'street smarts' as istik called it. she proved time and time again, harder and harder to kill, as because before anyone could raise a blade, a boot, or a magic missile against her, she memorized all of the mandates of vlaakith, the ones of the past, and that of gith herself. killing her would be a sin, she'd say, time and time again. and fortunately, due to creche mir'ha'r'tal's mob mentality and dedication to their queen - they'd always fear her mandated words, and side with jae'ku'sureth.

a battle of words, a battle of law. this weak, non-warrior could not die. she would neglect her charges, chasing flights of fancy, she would demean other varshes, githwarriors, and instead culled her own kin. she refused to hold a sword and used the dirtiest tricks in the books. but she could never, ever, seem to die. of course, this didn't stop jae'ku'sureth from getting jumped. it was why she was so aggressive and scared.

because of her slacking off, and the bullying, emotional neglect and abuse she faced from kin both in infancy, childhood, and adulthood, jae'ku'sureth detested working. she was barely seen by other varshes, and when she was, she seemed lazy. she hated growing the mushrooms and meat her kin subsided off, and she was infamous for being a bad cook with poor work ethic - yet snapping at anyone and nearly killing anyone through her wielding of the mandates who hurled an insult. their skin was uncalloused and soft, undesirable by others due to it showing her lack of hard work that their kin so often praised. they bore no scars, because instead of showing a warriors mettle they instead healed away any wound. they grew sore easily, couldnt jump far, lugged a greatsword compared to others - and this detestation of struggle would never leave jae'ku'sureth unless it was something she felt safe and happy around. and the road wasn't one of them.

through their escapism and idiosyncrasy, jae'ku'sureth developed an appreciation for the luxury and relaxations in life unbefitting and unlike her kin. instead, jae'ku'sureth ADORES lounging around in camp - and if you walk with her, she'll complain about sore feet 40 minutes in. or the rock in her shoe. or the bugs. the mud, even. and dont even ask her to lug above her carry weight. she's nothing but a weak g'lathk! she can't carry as much as a strong githwarr- oh, you think she's worth more than those dismissive words...? 😳 ...okay. she'll be upfront then, carry it yourself!

Ok, let's approach it from a different angle then.

If you were asked by someone to help them pick Pokémon to form a steel type team from, what Pokémon would you suggest?

They plan to then go and catch these Pokémon (or pre-evolutions of them), and from there, develop a bond as they raise them.

Other than a strong bond, variation is a key component of any team. You want pokemon that will be able to cover type matchups, preferably more than one for each type you are at a disadvantage for. You will also want pokemon that excel in different areas - a mix of bulky walls, support, and sweepers is important. If you are participating in double battles you will also want to make sure your pokemon are partnered with someone who can help guard against any additional weaknesses they have. My Skarmory is weak to electric moves, so she goes out with my Alolan Dugtrio, who can Earthquake to check an electric type and the extremely common fire type lead of my opponent. My Scizor is quadruple weak to fire, so she carries a berry to offset this and goes out with my Empolean.

So, with this in mind, let's first brainstorm some type coverage for a potential new Steel type team. Steel's weaknesses are fire, fighting, and ground. Water checks both fire and ground, but the water/steel combination is exclusive to Empoleon, so that is not an option if we are looking at new teams. Steel/Psychic and Steel/Ground are both relatively common type combinations that could help, and we could also employ the Steel/Ice type of Alolan Sandslash to help cover off ground types. To quickly brainstorm, here is a list of steel types that could work together to provide decent coverage:

It is always best to have multiple answers for each type advantage, so I would recommend choosing at least 2 pokemon for each type advantage, and balance them out with pokemon that can also resist types that would normally be super effective (Orthworm's Earth Eater ability is great for this, as is the Bug/Steel and Fairy/Steel combination).

There are multiple combinations that could make an excellent team, so I will leave it up to you to mix and match until you have a team that you are satisfied with. Keep in mind that the above list has purposefully excluded the pokemon on my own team, as per the posed question. There are also a few quadruple weaknesses on this list that will need to be accounted for in some way - perhaps if Sandslash-A is chosen they could be sent out alongside a Corviknight to help check that quadruple Fighting weakness, for example.

I had so much fun writing the last few one shots/ prompts so I’ll be running these alongside the final few chapters of Brand New Day.

Dear Yuletide Writer (2023)

Hello and welcome to my long rambling letter!

I hope you have a lot of fun participating this year, and the below is meant to help you with that! As usual, the only things that are hard lines are the squicks listed on the Yuletide form, but I'd prefer if you respected my other dislikes/squicks as well, even if our likes don't match and you chose not to use any of these prompts! Feel free to mix and match what you like ;)

I tried to place things mostly under bullet points in an effort to cut down on my rambling but, uh, I'm a very wordy person overall. I'd rather you have plenty to choose from and a good grasp on my likes/dislikes if you don't have an idea in mind already, than you wanting ideas and not finding any you like, though!!

GENERAL LIKES:

Truly egregious amounts of pining! Truly egregious amounts of increasingly obvious denial!

Non-established relationships - what I love most is the progression of the dynamics between two characters!

Fake dating! This applies to all the fandoms, it's one of my favourite tropes if you want to give it a whirl. Same for time loop fics;

Despite the first three items above, either gen or romance is fine! What really does it for me is the dynamics between the characters, and how they find unprecedented levels of kinship and trust and intimacy and comfort and understanding with each other, not necessarily romantic acts. In fact, I don't particularly like huge romantic acts either, and would love a more subtle sort of thing if you're going down the romance road!

Bickering/banter is great! Doubly so if the characters are already a bit petty by nature!

Sticking to the tone of the original characterizations/canon/humour is definitely a plus! I love when ways of speaking and running gags and references to the original material show up!

Casual intimacy! CASUAL INTIMACY! I'm a sucker for this and it's super fun, especially if placed amidst the bickering - it throws a whole different depth to their interactions and really shows how comfortable the characters are with each other. DOUBLY so if they have some enmity going on at that point since that makes it downright hilarious with the other half not really knowing how to react. A pair that communicates without needing to use words is also so intimate and great! I love this kind of thing;

Trope subversion all the way!!!

Usually smooth characters going tongue-tied when faced with the possibility of feelings or the presence of their crush, I'm so weak for that;

Characters getting roped into shenanigans, the wilder the better. Double points if they have no clue how they got themselves into this and are very much bewildered at how the situation went this sideways;

Enemies/rivals-to-reluctant-allies-(to-maybe-friends?)-to-lovers are *chef's kiss*;

Idiots to lovers. Idiots to lovers. It's really, really important and hilarious to me that they're huge dumbasses about it if your gift isn't the serious poetical prose sort, even if the "to lovers" part doesn't get all the way there;

I really need to emphasize how much I don't need a full romantic resolution or even a full story/ending resolution - like I said, what I like the most is how the dynamics between the characters evolve, both in gen and in romance! Ambiguous endings are fine both in terms of relationships and plot.

GENERAL YIKES:

I really cannot overstate how much I don't want to see pregnancy or motherhood related stuff, mpreg and babies/toddlers included. Kidfics, babyfics, next gen fics, anything related to pregnancy or kids at all. This is my biggest squick alongside scat;

Unhappy endings (ambiguous or hopeful endings are more than okay!);

On the completely opposite direction, the stereotypical 2.5 kids white picket fence sort of happy ending;

For these fandoms, I'd pass on playing around with gender when it comes to characters that aren't canonically prone to it (Loki), and even for those nothing permanent;

Most hard AUs (further detailed under each fandom) but you can assume stuff like merpeople AU or high fantasy AUs are a pass from me, they rely too much on setting and often lose all which makes the setting and the characters… them. Further specified under each fandom;

No going into the hows and whys of a character's sexuality or gender or huge discussions of it - if they're bi/ace/etc, then they're bi/ace/etc and that's that, going into the backstory of it and other people's reactions (including their own) is a no from me. I would prefer if there were no depictions of homophobia, sexism, racism, transphobia, etc, even from the mouths of villain/background antagonistic characters;

Huge dramatic declarations of love (unless it's for a con or a bit);

Huge time skips. Except for some specific situations it makes me feel as if I've missed way too much development, which is my favourite part when it comes to relationships and character development;

Angst is.... *waggles hand*. I don't dislike angst, but it really depends on the kind of angst and it can often be overdone (to my tastes, YMMV). I'll give it a hard pass on stuff to do with major character death (unless canon or they get better), sexual abuse, self-harm, gender/sexuality angst, and the like. I'd also rather not read one long torture/depression fic. Other than that, feel free to go ahead (but definitely don't give it an unambiguously bad ending!);

Huge non-canon past trauma;

Cheating and infidelity are HUGE no-nos;

Sickfics, dysphoria, deep dives into mental illness and other disorders;

Script-based or roleplay fic is not really my preferred format, I really enjoy prose instead of nearly 100% dialogue!

Tons of gore, permanent disabilitating injury (it's fine if it's like... one limb of your chosing or one eye getting fucked up, but more than that I'll pass), etc. I don't generally mind it, for these fandoms/characters in particular it's not really my scene. Note that I mean this for the main characters in particular, if you want to get really into writinh random Order people exploding into little bits in a Runemarks fic I'm not stopping you;

Fully unrequited love between the main characters;

Flashback/nightmare/dream sequences.

IF YOU'RE GOING FOR SMUT

Kinks

Moderate masochism (pain is nice - anything from spanking to knife-play is A-OK - but maiming or an actual beating not so much. Dry penetration with no prep is no good, but the character being underprepped/understretched or too little lube used if M/M is);

Bondage (especially predicament bondage or unconvencional bindings, AKA got stuck in a compromising position somewhere or some way normally no one would get stuck);

Breathplay, knifeplay (preferably no blood drawn during specifically this for these character sets except for Runemarks, would also rather not see knife-play in GSNK), nails digging/dragging on/breaking skin;

Edging/desperation play. If bottoming/subbing, David/Wakamatsu/Loki in particular being super flustered, red-faced, maybe a bit teary-eyed is *chef's kiss*;

Ladies topping and calling the shots!

I already put an entire bucket list on the form so. yeah. those. I'll repeat some here just in case;

Scat, vomit, bed-wetting, farting, wound-fucking, castration, CBT (myth for Loki already went there so. pass in general);

Dehumanization, slavery, pet-play, A/B/O;

Mommy/daddy/baby kinks, age play, anything involving diapers, pregnancy kink, mpreg or pregnancy of any sort;

Praise kink (this one isn't exactly a hard line but I'd pass on this);

Forced feminization;

Outright vore and/or shrinking;

Super big breasts (unless we're talking about Cobra Bubbles, in which case... further down in the section for that fandom), super small breasts, microdicks;

RUNEMARKS

Runemarks! Runemarks, my beloved. It's been so long, and I didn't read the Loki prequels/sequels/spinoffs because it'd been so long I needed a reread of the series to properly appreciate them, and I have no clue where I placed Runelight.

(That being said, please do disregard Runelight while writing my request. I didn't entirely dislike it, but not only do I not remember it well, there also were some iffy things about it that didn't fit my tastes (crazy!possessive!Sigyn, Maggie/Adam, the Big Betrayal with no further resolution, lack of major Loki&Maddy interaction outside of that), and for me the essence of Runemarks lays, in fact, with the original book). You can of course add in details from the books I haven't read, I just won't recognize them or appreciate your references properly. If you could avoid those things in particular I'd be thankful.

What do I like? Loki! Maddy! Loki and Maddy! Not even necessarily romantically, but their dynamic is the thing that most grabbed me about the books and had me crazy about them. We love two unhinged, super tricky individuals who aren't used to others seeing through them and who end up terribly fond of each other because they're both so dishonest that when you put them together it flips all the way back into actual honesty. They SEE each other, your honour!!! Not as archetypes or what others expect of them, but as people!!! Plus, the banter. Can't forget about the banter.

What I would like to see/possible prompts:

Exploration of the dynamics between those two. I really can't say this enough. I don't care if it's gen or romantic or somewhere ambiguously in between (in fact, somewhere ambiguously in between is my favourite), but the ideal fic would dive into the relationship between these two and how similar yet different they are to each other.

Soft AUs/Canon-verse AUs: the Runemarks world placed slightly to the left - an added, unseen scene that might have happened in canon, or a world where some of the canon events didn't happen, or even the Runemarks world minus all the plot with a different meeting. Examples:

Canon-verse Maddy running into "The Captain"/"Lucky" post-identity reveal in some other (potentially hilarious) situation where Loki is really really hoping he didn't piss Maddy off enough on their last meeting that she'll spill the beans, and her having the time of her life teasing him with double-meanings and puns about his identity to make him (deservedly) sweat a bit;

Canon-verse (or not) Loki and Maddy falling simultaneously into the same troublesome scenario, shenanigans ensue;

Soft AU where the canon plot didn't happen and Maddy may or may not have moved away from the village (the Order did not come for her, or they did and she got away, etc), and runs into Loki-as-Captain/Lucky, or under some other job he's lying low in (bartender, soldier down on his luck, charming thief, etc), and they get in and out of trouble together, as some fun alternate first meeting;

Soft AU where the Order did come for Maddy, and Loki (who was in the surroundings and may or may not have had a snarky altercation with Maddy just before, where he felt Seen™) is begrudgingly roped into helping her escape them;

Canon-verse or soft AU where Maddy and Loki are linked somehow (time loop, some supernatural/god bullshit, a curse/geas, etc) while pretty far apart and with no clue of what it means or possibly even who each other are (depending on whether or not they've met already, dealer's choice) and try to figure it out/find each other/get rid of it while growing close or empathetic to one another during it.

TONS of banter, if possible. That sardonic tone of canon is fantastic, and doubly so with underlying fondness;

If going down the romantic route, I do like things more subtle - no grand declarations of love, but that sense of comfort and belonging and understanding with each other that they don't get with anyone else. I would rather have pink ears and flustered feelings at a brushed touch or a more flirty-bantery remark rather than outright romantic kissing, but this is entirely up to you. What I really like is the journey getting there, and the relationship being already established tends to skip over all those parts;

That being said, I'm definitely not opposed to some sexual tension. I mean, *gestures vaguely towards their interactions* it's them;

Moral ambiguity! I think they should be gay-- er, bi, and do crime, or at least seriously annoy people. Especially Loki. I love that little bastard.

If you'd rather not write within the Runemarks universe, I'd rather not a full fantasy AU (merpeople AU, magic school AU, etc), but for example a modern era AU with the characters being placed into relatively equivalent roles/settings is OK too, so long as their dynamics remain the same! A role reversal AU could also be interesting if their personalities/roles in the story remained relatively the same but adapted to fit it (Loki is a trickster menace to the gods, Maddy upheaved the world as they know it and people/gods might not like her for it, much like the villagers in the OG version, but then stuff like the Maddy/Modi thing could parallel with the Loki/Lucky/Captain thing, for example). Overall, the focus should be on the relationships and the characters instead of the background setting.

What I wouldn't like to see:

Please no more humiliation and pain for Loki - give him a break! It's fine if he gets in a sticky situation (who is even Loki if he's not in some sort of trouble lmfao), but he should be able to get out of it basically unscathed (some light stabbing and jokes about it are fine, so long as he shakes it off easily and not too long is spent dwelling on the pain). This applies to Maddy too, but a special emphasis on Loki for this;

No female form/dress jokes, it's one thing for him to assume that form or wear a dress (that is fine), it's another to make it the butt of the situation or make it sound as if it's humiliating;

That being said, I wouldn't like to see a fic fully focused on gender-flipped Loki, or one that went super into gender or sexuality dynamics. Treat it as commonplace if possible!

Most hard AUs (such as a merpeople AU, magic school AU, etc) would not be favourites (check the section above for details on AUs I would not mind seeing);

Please no love triangles or unrequited love! (Unless it's Adam with a creepy crush on Maddy/Maggie getting what's coming to him, that is);

Full Maddy-as-Modi AUs. Which isn't really an AU, but I like Maddy as Maddy - an AU where she grew up as Modi, or a canon-verse continuation where she grows into that role isn't really my thing, except maybe on the role reversal AU I detailed above (in which it would be Modi growing into being Maddy instead of the other way around);

In that line, Loki-that-isn't-Loki. He can (and should!) be under disguise at some point, or under an alias, but even if there's no true reveal we should for sure know that it's him under there, and that person is a little redhead scar-lipped shit-stirrer;

No other ships involving these two! Past relationship mention is fine, though I'd pass on past Odin/Loki;

Would probably pass on heavy smut for this but not a hard line.

Other notes for this fandom:

No need to follow the plotline of Runemarks, honestly. You can, but it's definitely not a requirement, especially considering how complex it becomes! For me what matters most is really the character dynamics, I don't really need the plot (or any plot), so don't stress about writing an extremely plotty fic in line with it unless it's your kind of thing. I wasn't super into the Order plot Runelight went so far into anyway, but if you want to take any pieces of plot from the book anyway I'd rather you focused on the god drama and interdynamics, which are hilarious to me;

If you must bring Sigyn in, make her OOC - which is something I never thought I'd say about any character, ever! I am actually fond of Sigyn in myth despite there being so little on her (on past Yuletide requests, I've actually requested her and Loki on both the Prose Edda and the Ancient Norse Mythology and Religion fandoms). Be kinder to her than Joanne was! The crazy marriage-obsessed lady is a bit. Uh. Yeah, no. Better to leave her off of it than to bring all of that into the fic;

Bringing in Angrbod, Skadi, Hel, Jormungandr, and other god-related characters is obviously beyond fine, but more fun if Maddy is chill with everyone. Relationships with Loki may vary - possibly going down the disbelieving-look-at-Maddy route when she's clearly more than cool with him around (and would actively oppose it if someone tried to slice his head off, Skadi!) - and this contrast can be the inciting incident for the fic! No matter the relationship the other characters hold with Loki, negative or positive, they all question Maddy's life choices nonetheless, which is a mood.

LILO & STITCH

I'll be real with you, I was desperately looking for a third fandom that I hadn't 1) fallen out of touch to the point where I missed a fuckton of sequels/prequels/spinoffs being released, 2) completely forgot about like 80% of it so I'd write a very vague and nebulous letter among the lines of "I just really like those characters so I want to see more of them!", which would be very unhelpful if my writer (you!) didn't have any ideas in mind and was desperate for a prompt.

I passed by L&S once. I passed by it twice. On the third time, I actually took more than a two second look at the character list, glimpsed Cobra Bubbles and David listed next to each other, and my brain went ding! with "holy shit, new rarepair!!! i wanna read/write about this right the fuck now!". The rest, as they say, is history.

So! You're not here for my random backstory of how we got here! Let's get down to business.

Possible ship/gen configurations:

For gen: Nani&David, Nani&Cobra, Nani&David&Cobra;

For romance: David/Cobra, Cobra/David/Nani;

This is explained more thoroughly on the Yuletide assignment.

What I would like to see/possible prompts:

Canon-verse-ish instead of a huge AU would be great! Post the first movie or during the show (if possible ignore the movie sequels, I barely remember anything about them);

If you want to write an AU, keep the characters in roles/dynamics as similar as possible;

Would love to see some alien shenanigans (not restricted to the experiments). In general would love to see some more of Cobra Bubbles' work on the interplanetary level;

Lilo and Stitch should at least be referenced even if they've, idk, gone off to college or to go have wild space adventures together if you don't want to write them, since they are/were such a huge pat of the characters' lives;

I love the fixer-upper space tech DIY vibe of the house and equipment, bonus points for mentioning how they live with/around some of those modifications in a casual way instead of it being a normal human house;

FOR GEN FIC:

Ideally I'd love to see a fic of the three of them (or Nani and one of the boys) tiredly bonding over a day of alien shenanigans and raising Lilo;

Seriously, there are way too many plasma explosions involved on a so-called "normal day";

This is not covered in any parenting manuals;

Or government ones;

Alternatively, Nani and David accidentally-on-purpose get Cobra Bubbles (in denial about this) to lowkey adopt an experiment and it's adorable (bonus points if the experiment's appearance and personality is entirely at odds with what the average bystander would think Cobra Bubbles would tolerate. the average bystander would be very wrong);

FOR ROMANCE (DAVID/COBRA EDITION):

David is thirsty and extremely oblivious to this;

Very likely, David is not exactly conscious of this. He just. Keeps looking? There is A Lot to look at. Cobra Bubbles is a big man. Objectively.

His hands are very big, objectively. And warm. And kinda calloused, but in a way different to his own, and Cobra picked him up and moved him aside like it was nothing one day and David now lies awake at night thinking about it all the time;

His heart is very soft and very tender and, like, hypotethically David already knew this by virtue of *gestures towards L&S movie end* but. Somehow it's a lot harder to face when you just had a hell of a day and your first instinct when you see a guy that scowl-y and intimidating and official looking is not great, but then you see him doing the equivalent of saving an alien kitty from a tree, or being really good with handling Lilo despite her not being an easy kid no matter how much you love her, and suddenly his heart is speeding up and his day is a whole lot brighter and it definitely doesn't mean anything, right?

Listen, I know I just wrote about the hands and the heart but the things David thirsts over are entirely negotiable other than the massive pecs, okay? Just. Huge titties. Big bahonkadonks. He walks into them once and almost says 'thank you' instead of 'sorry'. He might have actually said it, he doesn't remember. He spent all day walking into things afterwards. He wants to walk into them again;

Incidentally, the crush-that-is-not-a-crush makes him clumsy as hell;

He may or may not set himself on fire more than once. Again;

How he manages to keep being in denial despite having entire raging wet dreams of suffocating himself on Cobra's pecs is beyond human or alien comprehension;

And many many thoughts of the muscles that go all pillowy when relaxed but he's so BIG;

Meanwhile, Cobra Bubbles could be either extremely awkward in that quiet way of his OR panicking behind his stoic glasses but not letting the world see SHIT;

If you go the full idiots to lovers, Cobra could be completely oblivious to the way David is basically performing a bird of paradise mating dance while stumbling into things along the way;

Otherwise, a smooth operator kinda amused Cobra that just stoicly doesn't look like he's noticing anything until David shoves his foot too far into his mouth and then hms a monosyllable and handles everything David to its logical conclusion could also be funny as hell;

A possible prompt/inciting event: road trip! Some experiment or alien breaks free, Cobra is called to action (Lilo&Stitch usual team not available due to age/distance/whatever). Whether by accident or as the only backup that was left, David ends up coming along (for example, Cobra had to take a vehicle, David could have lended it or had been napping on it and only realized the van/spaceship/whatever was moving AGES after they were in hot pursuit, ergo no turning back), offering chips and terrible puns as his contribution to the chase. Cobra is extremely done and likely very annoyed, all the way until he's not.

Look, I don't have a lot of thoughts on smut for this other than: 1) David being super desperate is THE most important thing; 2) Cobra might have some alien body mods or alien tech at hand; 3) maybe predicament bondage with loose cables on a spaceship?; 4) neither of them should be mean/cruel about it, I think? unless you're writing an AU scenario where their relationship is not the same, but this would not be preferred; 5) alien plants can come in for predicament bondage and/or sex pollen, if that's your kind of thing;

FOR ROMANCE (COBRA/DAVID/NANI EDITION):

Most of the above applies;

David/Nani can be established or not, and Cobra is the one (eventually) brought into the fold;

Nani is very cool with David thirsting over Cobra Bubbles and thinks it's super fucking funny since he's even more of a disaster than he was with her;

The trio slowly starting to nest on the Pelekai house would be amazing. The kind of slow moving in you don't even realize until there's three brushes in the cup, and other people's clothes occupying full shelves in the closet, and they're there every morning cooking and eating breakfast with you and bringing you that thing you forgot to work without you having to say so.

What I wouldn't like to see:

Love triangles or cheating. As I said above, a poly relationship with Nani is fine though (all participants must be aware and OK with it, or at least this is implied);

Lilo, Stitch, or Cobra Bubbles in an established relationship;

Please no Nani/David unless it's pre-poly with Cobra Bubbles;

On a similar note, no Cobra Bubbles/Nani without David already being in the mix;

Would not love to see a focus on the Cobra/Nani even on a poly context (some is fine but not the majority);

No relationships between any of the tagged characters and other characters, or dwelling a lot on past relationships;

…Is it xenophobia if it applies to literal aliens? No xenophobia from either of the main family please, Cobra (especially!) included;

Cobra as a cop or cop-like character;

Species-bending? Is that a thing? Basically if you're writing an AU, the human characters should remain human, and the aliens should remain non-human.

What I would like to see/possible prompts:

To put it short and sweet: let Waka lowkey bully Seo back 2k23! I cannot overstate how much I absolutely adore that Seo is weak to Waka's affection, we seem to have gotten past that point in the manga but the chapter where she kept getting flustered and running away when Waka flatly confessed over and over again is one of my favourites! There's no need to go to such great lengths as it happened in that chapter, but one (1) little moment where something like that happened for 0.5 seconds within the fic would make me super happy! Revenge! Vindication! Retribution rights for Waka! (cue him being super flustered when the situation reverses on him again);

That being said, if that particular dynamic is not how you vibe with those two, that's also fine! I LOVE how tsundere Waka is about the entire relationship, one moment complaining about being "forced" to hang out with Seo, and the next jealous over someone else getting to do it, or sulking because she hasn't texted him yet when she's away on a field trip, and don't get me started on the entire plushie chapter thing (incidentally another of my favourites). Needy Waka semi-permanently in denial is adorable;

And I love, love, LOVE how chill they've gotten with each other and how easily they fall into stride together or how they just immediately jump into the other's shenanigans;

THAT BEING SAID, how fucking unhinged is that? Especially in comparison to how they started out? Would love to see an exploration of that (could be an outsider's POV for example), especially since Waka has such good boy vibes and then... keeps sticking to Seo? That Seo? Everyone is trying to give you an out, Waka, why don't you take them?;

Best flavours of Waka: canon!tsundere!Waka, jealous-needy-puppy!Waka, sadistic streak!Waka;

Best flavours of Seo: flustered!Seo (versus sadistic!vengeful!Waka), canon!tsundere!Seo, mindlessly-patting-Waka's-head!Seo, casual-and-chill!Seo, downright-unhinged-cackling-maniac!Seo, canon-lowkey-sugar-mommy!Seo;

You know how sulky pets will pretend they don't want your affection even when they're shoving their face right into your body parts so you'll pet them? Yeah, that's Waka. We (by 'we' I mean 'I') love to see it. A fic where Waka is Like That and Seo comes to a realization while mindlessly indulging him (AKA noogie-ing him which transitions to hair petting or something of the sort) would be *chef's kiss*;

Lorelei reveal shenanigans where Waka desperately tries to conciliate his Lorelei fantasies with... Seo.

(depending on whether that's your thing, the above could be horny! Where Waka used to have pure nice fantasies of a siren singing on a rock suddenly it's Seo with a mermaid tail and sharp teeth and nails pulling him underwater and stealing his breath forever.... but hornily. Bonus points for man-eating mermaid imagery and Waka waking up with a "mark me down as scared AND horny" boner and immediately trying to suffocate himself in his pillow to NOT think about it ever again, because thinking about Seo-senpai that way is a fast track ticket to insanity);

Another soft prompt (pre or post-Lorelei reveal, might be the cause of the reveal itself): one of the times Seo accidentally (or not) puts Waka to sleep and then lets him sleep on her lap, he wakes up but is so slow at doing it that he doesn't move or open his eyes until registering where he is, soft thighs and nice scent and very soothing hair petting and all, and in a move that might or might not send a few bricks of his wall of denial crumbling down, elects to stay there pretending to be asleep for a bit longer;

Look, just give Waka some head pats/hair-petting, he deserves it!

If you're going for smut, Waka bringing his little game of flustering Seo when she doesn't have anywhere to run to would also be gr9;

Otherwise, Seo just barreling forward when it comes to "weird" sex stuff with Waka barely managing to keep up (and being very flustered about it but also reluctantly into it) is excellent. No need to actually go through with the things she'd bring up, could just serve to fluster Waka before going for something less wild or be fade to black for the laughs;

In particular for those two, it would be interesting to see pegging, or a bit of bondage just so Seo can unexpectedly be an extra super gentle dom with Waka while he doesn't know how to react and is flustered and sensitive and squirmy and desperate and a bit teary about it because he doesn't know what the hell is going on but it feels good and it's so tender (while presumably he would have been expecting something completely wild and lowkey unpleasant or embarrassing, but he definitely did not expect to feel this loved and cherished by Seo-senpai of all people, what the hell?).

What I wouldn't like to see:

Love triangles or past/established relationships;

UNLESS the past relationship was with the other, they broke up, and now in the fic they go through completely unhinged shenanigans and get back together, and overall the breakup and the getting back together were both for stupid reasons;

Same or similar amount of focus on non-main characters (such as double dates, same plotline is happening to Seo and Sakura at the same time while they're looking for/saving Waka and Nozaki, lots of time being spent on a B-plot that doesn't have to do with Waka or Seo);

No 100% "bullying" of Waka on Seo's part without the text at least somehow letting us know Waka is not entirely against it. He should get something out of the relationship, even if it's just a very confused/frustrated boner, or a sense of satisfaction at supposedly having triumphed even when it's to his own detriment (such as when he went around shouting love confessions at Seo so she'd run away blushing and flustered, or ended up killing his back to get pets from Seo just so she wouldn't pet his plushie instead);

Not a super hard line, but would rather not see big AUs. Mermaid/Siren!Seo AUs are pretty common, so if you really want to write something like that, a different twist would help sell it. (And if you MUST write a mermaid/siren!Seo AU, i like dangerous man-eating varieties of mermaid the most.) That being said, regardless of whether AU or canon-verse, the focus should be more on the characters and their dynamics than on the setting! These should remain more or less the same regardless of the AU.

Actually now just curious after your lipstick list if you're willing to do a mini collage of opinions again what's everyone's preference to different kinds of makeup like someone who's favorite feature (on the face) is eyes might like eyeliner or mascara maybe even eyeshadow or do one of those options still lipstick?

I'm sorry if I read this as like what's there favourite makeup style + feature! i sometimes can't understand things sent in well :(

● Ingo once again falls back into a traditional makeup look from the past. He likes something similar to a vintage 50s makeup look. The bold red lip colour and full brows with a dewy eye look has him weak. His favourite feature is their eyes. Something about the way they look about him makes his chest warm. He also simply adores the amount of time given to eyeliner. Blinking at him breaks him.

○ Emmet appreciates softer, cuter looks, so things like incorporate lighter colours tend to be favoured. He also enjoys. A dewy look, but Elesa informed that wasn't an easy look to do for certain skin types with more oily tendencies. He has no idea what his partner's skin type is. Emmet is weird and breaks an oral fixation with a love from cheeks. Something about blush makes his heart race.

● Emin is not better than the pieces of his parts and enjoys… 60s makeup looks. Ingo's eye thing meets Emmet's peculiar cheek thing and nothing really happens. The usually muted colours fulfils Emmet's wants, but the high attention to eyes gets Ingo's. Though, somehow, he ended enjoying the detail put into the eyeshadow with the look more. The optical illusion nature of it is neat.

☄️ Cyrus likes natural looks, once more. No strong styles, really. He doesn't mind if his partner does it because truthfully, he doesn't care that much as long as they're happy. He focuses on their lips, admittedly. Their smile has a strong, unfortunate effect on him.

⭐️ Volo likes makeup of time period, naturally. Of course, that means dark lines and red lipstick. For a modern look, though, he'd enjoy something more modernised of it. Dark eyeliner, red lips and perhaps a little red eyeshadow, too. The idea of a dazzle of gold does intrigue him a bit. His favourite feature would be the entire face, as he likes to observe reactions. Eyeliner interests him, deeply. He'll never admit as to why.

🌟 Elesa enjoys all makeup styles. She's worn many and seen many in her time, so she's learnt an appreciation for all the effort that goes into each. Art makeup does interest her particularly, though. Her favourite feature of the face is the eyes, but leans into how eyelashes and eyeliner create illusions to help perceive them different. (She also just likes looking into her partner's eyes.)

💜 Lucy likes bold makeup styles. Something eye-catching and perhaps a little outlandish. A small snake shape drawn on the face is cute and makes her smug. She likes little face decorations that are drawn on, of course. Eyeliner, too. Makes her partner appear a bit more snake-like.

♤ Grimsley likes elegant, formal makeup styles. Something beautiful to decorate while hanging around the lavish places that hold his preference. He likes the entire face, unable to pick a specific feature in particular. All can tell him his opponent's mood. Though, he likes eyes quite a bit. Eyeshadow is his favourite.

🌑 Nanu doesn't care, once more. Whatever keeps them happy makes him happy. He likes their eyebrows. Something about how they move to express emotion captures him. He doesn't really have a preference for product, though.

💀 Guzma knows nothing about makeup. Uh, he thinks he likes punk makeup. That sounds right. He has no clue if that's actually a thing. Once again, blacks and whites alongside bright colours remain a favourite. He likes their lips, for multiple reasons. Lipstick is his favourite.

🟢 N still has no idea about makeup, really. He can appreciate anything his partner wishes to try, but definitely feels most comfortable with a natural look. His adoration really comes out for it all. He enjoys everything about his partner, it's impossible for him to just pick one specific feature.

Are you named after anyone?

Oh, yes, actually, the first king of Tir’oloth, Valentinus, it was much more common when I was younger to be named after royalty, very in-vogue for dark elven nobles.

When was the last time you cried?

That’s not really your business, now is it?  I have cried in times of tragedy, but much like my Narcissa, I prefer to express such emotions privately.

Do you have kids?

Quite a few, shall I list them for you?  Andromeda, Cybele, Bartimaeus, Dionysus, Septimus, Vesper, Isidora, Renata…They’re all delights, I could go on. (Author’s Note: He has a lot of kids, he’s also 300)

Do you use sarcasm?

I am firmly of the opinion that if you don’t use sarcasm you have little skill with words, and even less with using them.

What's the first thing you notice about people?

Their reflexes, socially and physically.  Recognizing reflexes are the first step in determining someone’s weaknesses.

What's your eye color?

Well, the eye I still have is green.  My left eye used to be green, hence the moss agate replacement.

Scary movies or happy endings?

I’ll have you know Narcissa tells the best ghost stories.  There were nights when Andromeda and Cybele wouldn’t leave my side because their mother scared them so, and Vesper would be huddled right alongside them so certain he wasn’t scared.

Any special talents?

I would call my charms my greatest gift, and I’m sure my wives and husband would agree.  They put up with me, after all.

Where were you born?

Tir’oloth, one of the many elven kingdoms that has fallen to the Janurian Empire, for all that’s worth.  The region is now called the Alektian Webs.

What are your hobbies?

I have a fondness for card games, and chess, and I fence quite well though Ursa does often call me a peacock.  Savaş has lent a song to accompany my violin many a time as well.  He has quite the voice.

Have you any pets?

Gem dragons are exceptionally small dragons–only the size of a cat, see–with impressive psionic abilities.  Jupiter, here, is of the emerald variety, very clever creatures, not quite the level of their larger kin but very fascinating pets–and familiars.  They also make for wonderful pickpockets, when trained right.

What sports do you play/have played?

Nobles of my culture are not quite expected to play sports as much as train in combat arts.  I’ve fenced since I was a boy, and have quite the aim with a bow and dagger.

How tall are you?

Not so tall, but average for my kind,  I stand at five and a half feet.

Favorite subject in school?

I had a fondness for classes on enchantment and illusion magic during my schooling.

Dream job?

Why, I have it.  I find there is no greater calling for me than an expensive sword for hire.

Blatantly Partisan Party Review XVII (Victoria 2022): United Australia Party

Prior reviews (many as the Palmer United Party): federal 2013, VIC 2014, federal 2016, VIC 2018 (Bobby Singh, Palmer United independent), federal 2019, federal 2022

What I said before: “This party is now a grievance machine of very angry cranks who think something has been stolen from them; it’s rooted in the conspiracy theorist thought patterns that convince people who are generally pretty comfortable that they are in fact the great victims of the world.” (federal 2022)

What I think this time: Not content with stinking up the federal election and sending Ralph Babet to the Senate—a man contending for the “worst senator” mantle alongside the likes of Pauline Hanson, Malcolm Roberts, Matt Canavan, and Gerard Rennick—the UAP is now running for the Victorian state parliament with, among other candidates, Babet’s twin brother Matt (lead candidate in South-Eastern Metropolitan). UAP’s state leader is Geoff Shaw, the disgraced ex-Liberal member for Frankston, so you know this party can really pick ‘em.

As far as policy goes… what policy? The party’s website lists its Victorian candidates but no state policies. It still just displays the flaming bag of shit that the UAP offered to electors at the federal election. If you want unhinged covid conspiracies, cooker grudges, untrammelled resentment, economic incoherence, and environmental ruin, then this is the party for you. If you want something even within shouting distance of sense, look elsewhere.

To borrow my favourite example of unparliamentary language from New Zealand (a banger from 1949), the collective brains of the UAP could revolve inside a peanut shell for a thousand years without touching the sides.

My recommendation: Give the United Australia Party a weak or no preference. Remember to vote below the line on the large ballot for the Legislative Council so that your preference goes where you want it to go; all ballots with 5 or more preferences marked below the line are valid votes.

whats Cassidy like in your au? Is she friends with Evan?

She was his friend before the bite, and one of the only friends he had outside of Charlie and Elizabeth. Together, the three girls were like Evan’s protection squad. Cassidy really didn’t like Michael because of how he treated Evan and she spent a lot of time trying to get Evan out of the house away from his brother. She’s roughly three years older than him, so treats him like he’s her own little brother in a way.

1983:

Despite being quite young, she doesn’t really have much parental supervision as her mom, while loving, is often busy with work and struggles to look after her four kids: Kelsey (14, Freddy Bully), Gabriel (12), Cassidy (9) and Andrea (2). Because of this, Cassidy tends to wander the streets either with Gabriel or by herself and is almost guaranteed to knock on the Afton family’s door at least once a week, usually to be greeted by Clara, although on occasion it’s William. She prefers it when it’s William because he’s more likely to let her borrow Evan for the day.

She’s very mysterious at heart but is also very aware of how people feel, so knows when she has to stop with her pranks or jokes. But she isn’t blindly nice either, and you’re lucky to get out unscathed if you really piss her off. God forbid you insult her siblings. That’s HER job.

She’s not easily trusting of adults either, with there being a small list of those she does… one William is on. That won’t age well.”

She actually dies in late 1983 as well, the last of William’s victims alongside her brother.

After death:

She’s pissed off. She’s constantly experiencing moments of pure rage, and the only reason she isn’t consumed by them is because of Evan being there to calm her down.

She wants nothing more than to just lash out, scream to everyone that she’s still here - but she can’t.

She may be angry, and violent, but in the end she’s still just a scared kid who wants to go home and go to bed. She tries to hide that fact completely because both she and Charlie are looked up to into the group, and she can’t let them all know she’s weak. She refuses. Even if Evan tells her it’s okay.

But above everything, she just wants William to suffer for everything’s he’s done, because it’s the only thought that’s keeping her sane.

Thinking about her makes me feel sad things honestly, thinking about all the missing children does.

Oops in a way I already briefly answered these questions! I'll try to go little more in depth now!

Anemone: Is your wedding extravagant or small and quaint? Do you have lots of guests or just a few close friends?

I seem to prefer small weddings! Both my ships with Blazkowicz and Ushio have small weddings with close friends & allies, very private and short affairs with no official venue.

But since we're speaking about number of quests, it¨s still high number (at least for me) if I count right, with Ushio our quest list was about 15+ people since I'm also counting Yusei's friends from Satellite (Blitz and others alongside with Rally, plus Kazama & Mikage AND the normal 5ds group, oh also Jaeger!) We didn't have any wedding gift policy (some were insisted on giving one, like Carly and Crow). I think either Jaeger made us official (if before Ushio retired in my Canon AU) or just a quest (if after, I'm undecided).

For Blazkowicz and Fay, I think the quest count was around 10+ people, as Kreissau Circle was with us. It was in the headquarters not on Eva's Hammer the submarine, so we were surrounded by beautiful paintings at least! Sigrun was Fay's maid of honor and I think either Wyatt or Caroline was William's. I do like the idea of us not having fancy outfits in the moment, like William not having the suit when we married, but later when we registered the date (and named just couple of the entire Circle as witnesses) we did wear fancy outfits. I think Blazkowicz didn't even have his own ring, I had his heirloom one alone.

Blue thistle: What do you and your F/O wear at your wedding? Feel free to provide pictures of wedding attire you would wear!

I think Ushio would wear his canon suit, it's cute (but with yellow tie!)

Mine was rather extravagant dress! I wanted to look dramatic for once.

I like Blazkowicz in brown, so he would probably wear light brown suit. I don't know about tie color. Though I do have this image;

And he looks so good in that tie! And the black suit too, but brown is sorta my own idea of Iconic color to Blazkowicz (It's also one of Aiden's own like five colors). He wears his New Order "armor" when we marry in Circle's headquarters:

I think Fay would have simple pink dress or Rockabilly-like one when we register the marriage as official, but in the moment she'd have pink jeans jacket and pants.

Peony: Who proposed? How did the proposal go?

Both Blazkowicz and Ushio proposed. I don't think I can do the deed.

Blazkowicz canon proposal to his canon love interest is so morbidly hilarious & sweet I'm stealing it. He literally just killed the leader of the Reign not 10 minutes earlier, her dead body is still laying on the table she got axed on, William literally took the ring back from her cold, dead finger! His words, how he proposed was sweet though!

"You make me strong and weak at the same time. Will you marry me?"

I will be fangirling about the choice of words forever, one of small saving graces of New Colossus.

I never seem to settle on how Ushio would propose. On the other hand I imagine him as such a sap, he would try to make it the Most Romantic Thing known to man, but on other hand I have so many daydreams of him popping the question in middle of Elden Ring / Soulsborne run.

I do have rough outline of what he'd say during the deed, how glad he is that he was able to change because it lead him to me, how much he adores & loves me & how he hopes we have many happy years ahead of us.. Just sappy stuff I adore. I imagine he had no ring for this, as our two rings are custom made, but I understood from the way he acted it was meant to be serious & proper proposal.

HAIR: Black; there's a bit of peppering, but it's more noticeable in his beard because he keeps his head cut VERY close to his head

PRIMARY OUTFIT: Ealdwin's fashion sense would probably be described as 'homey' or 'down to earth.' He likes corduroy, linen, wool, etc. The fabric choices are a bit 'new age' and he probably gives off that vibe a little. The only difference being that he's not really flashy or colorful. He likes earth tones, and burnished metals, for example. And he's much rather wear uncut/unpolished stones rather than shiny/sparkly ones.

Personality

Ealdwine can initially come off as a little gruff, but if you share a story or two with him, he warms up quickly. Once you’ve earned his friendship, he’s a good guy to have on your side. He’s the kind of friend who’ll help you move books… or help you move bodies.

Sometimes he takes himself too seriously - you won’t often catch him laughing at jokes made at his expense. However, he does enjoy a good joke and is happy to share in the laughter… as long as it’s not directed at him.

Abilities

Long-Lived - Ealdwine doesn’t know how long his lifespan will be, so even after all this time he tries to live each day to the fullest.

Potion-brewing - There isn’t anything he CAN’T brew - whether or not he WILL is an entirely different story.

Scrying - This is usually done with a potion he mixes up himself and then pours over a highly-polished silver mirror.

Green Thumb - Although he can’t grow whatever he wants whenever he chooses, Ealdwine has an uncanny ability to grow things a fraction faster and a fraction better than other people.

Human with the Sight - Despite his age, Ealdwine usually ‘reads’ as human to other supernatural characters who have the ability to sense such things. Thanks to the faerie soul within him, he’s capable of seeing things that others don’t think or expect him to see.

Good Listener - A natural trait that comes from being a bartender.

Weaknesses

Iron - While not as deadly to him as it was to his faerie counterpart, pure iron can affect Ealdwine’s supernatural abilities, weakening or disrupting them.

Humanity - While he does heal faster than a typical human, Ealdwine IS still human. He can be killed just like any other human… it’s just harder to do.

Romance

Technically, Ealdwine is pansexual/panromantic - meaning he has no preferences regarding how someone identifies or how they look physically. However, first and foremost he is Demi when it comes to both romance and sex. He needs to feel fully comfortable with someone as a friend and platonic companion before he’s willing to take things further. Once he’s reached that point, he becomes a man who dotes on his lover - creating special potions, giving small tokens of affection, offering lots of subtle public displays of affection (like forehead kisses and hand squeezing.)

Ealdwine is a witch - none of this ‘warlock’ stuff, thanks. And no, he didn’t have to sell his soul to anyone to get his powers. Well… sort of. He did make a bargain, but it wasn’t for his soul, visa versa actually. Once he was a humble farmer, and one day while searching for a lost lamb, he happened across a dying faerie… one who didn’t wish to die. After some convincing (and bargaining) Ealdwine agreed to let the faerie’s soul reside alongside his own. In the beginning, they were two separate souls, but over the centuries their essences have melded creating a singular, unique individual. These days, Ealdwine runs a pub called “The Tree of Life” where he mostly keeps to himself. However, for the right price, he can brew you up something special.

An LGBTQ victory for Pride Month -

Anthony Gonzales and Mark Johnson were married at the County Clerk's Office in Albuquerque, New Mexico, alongside more than 100 other LGBTQ+ couples, on August 27, 2013. Mark had rectal cancer and was weak from chemo but wanted to get married. They'd had a commitment ceremony in the 1990s but always worried what would happen if one of them died and they weren't married.

Marriage equality became state law in Dec 2013, and federal law Jun 2015 through a Supreme Court decision. But some Clerks concluded the law didn't say anything about gender or sexual orientation in regards to marriage, so they issued marriage licenses to LGBTQ people.

Then Mark died six months later. A year after that, Anthony turned 60 and lost his job. He applied for social security survivor benefits, for widows and widowers after their spouse dies. He was denied because they said he didn't meet the 9 months of marriage requirement.

But how COULD he have met the requirement when marriage had been denied to him? He decided to fight it, with the help of his lawyer neighbor. After losing all his appeals, LGBTQ rights organization Lambda Legal stepped in. He became part of another similar case about discrimination, Ely v. Saul - and they WON.

He got $90k in back pay, now gets monthly benefits - and changed the system.

So now - If you or your LGBTQ+ senior loved one have had trouble accessing survivor benefits, visit your local Social Security office and mention either the Ely v. Saul case, or the twin case Thornton v. Saul.

In lieu of a traditional marriage license that proves you've been married for nine months or longer, you may need to bring the following documents:

Your spouse's death certificate

Photos or documents from your commitment ceremony

Shared financial documents, such as a mortgage, title, lease, or joint bank account statements

If you have children, your children's birth certificate or adoption papers, preferably with both of you listed as the child's legal parents

The Social Security Administration has assigned the message codes EM-21007 SEN REV, code 529 or EM-20046 SEN REV 2 to SSA appeal cases that involve LGBTQ+ individuals. Mention those codes for faster service at the Social Security field offices.
