Your Energy is Infinite- Here's How to Unlock it
Who has not felt stress at some point in their life? You get up, prepare breakfast, take the children to school, go to work, come home after going to the supermarket, prepare dinner while you finish with the 'chores' at home ...
The day has not started yet and we already feel that we lack time to get to everything. We lead a fast pace of life, full of obligations, commitments, and the occasional conflict, which makes us feel nervous, stressed, and even exhausted from the first hour.
What is stress?
Stress is a reaction of our body, physical and mental, to stimuli or situations that are tense, overwhelming, and/or threatening. When a person is stressed they tend to feel overwhelmed, worried and exhausted.
In small doses, it can be positive. Suffering an episode of punctual stress can be motivating and help us achieve some personal or professional goal, such as meeting a deadline. There are people who feel that their productivity improves when they work "under pressure."
However, undergoing continuous stress can seriously affect our physical and mental health. In fact, stress can trigger headaches, gastritis, insomnia, or even psychological disorders such as anxiety or depression.
Techniques to combat stress
Although it is inevitable to feel stress at some point in our life, it is very important to detect the situations that generate this state of nervousness and learn to manage them.
For this reason, we propose 5 healthy techniques and habits that will help you for unwinding your mind and feel more happy and relaxed.
1 Exercise regularly
Practicing at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise a day, such as walking, running, swimming, or cycling will help you oxygenate the brain, reduce stress level, and feel more relaxed. When we practice physical exercise, our brain releases what is known as ' hormones of happiness': Dopamine, responsible for motivation and pleasure; serotonin, which soothes the mood; and endorphins, responsible for happiness.
Therefore, exercising regularly generates a feeling of well-being, happiness, and relaxation, reducing stress levels and unlocking infinite energy. In addition, the sport also contributes to weight control, combat cardiovascular disease, increase our energy, sleep better, and even socialize.
2 Relax the muscles progressively
The muscle relaxation will help you feel the tension disappears from your body. You can do it anywhere, even sitting in your office. It is about feeling how each of the parts of your body contract and then relax and releases yourself. Begin with your toes, your feet, squeeze them hard for a few seconds, and release them. Continue through your legs, buttocks, until you reach the shoulder and neck area, where we usually accumulate much of the tension. Also relax your face, jaw, and even your tongue. Repeat the exercise several times being mindful of each muscle group in your body. This will take just a few minutes, and you will feel instant relief from the pressure built up by stress.
3 Focus on your breathing
Controlling your breath is one of the easiest ways to relax, and it can also be practiced anytime, anywhere. As soon as you feel a stressful situation, focus on your breathing. You simply have to sit in a chair with your back straight and close to the backrest, and your feet flat on the floor, maintaining a 90-degree angle with your legs. Drop your arms so they are relaxed and begin to breathe slowly and deeply. With each breath, you should notice how your chest fills with air and then empties very slowly.
You can take as many breaths as you need, with your eyes open or closed, and even stand up if it is not possible to sit at that moment.
4 Get carried away by the music
Listening to music before going to sleep will help you reconcile and improve the quality of your sleep. It is about listening to music whose rhythm is equal to or less than 60 or 80 beats per minute, such as classical music, jazz, or folk. Music can affect the brain, sending stimuli that promote relaxation, reducing the rhythm of our heart, and relaxing the muscles. So whenever you get a chance, try to listen to music. It can even help you to work and be more productive, improving your concentration.
5 Take time for yourself before going to sleep
Sleeping between 7 - 8 hours a day is essential to rest and recharge. But it is not only about sleeping a lot, but we have to ensure that this rest is of quality, so we recommend that at least one hour before going to sleep, disconnect from technological devices such as mobile phones, television, laptop or tablet and spend time with yourself. Clean your face, your teeth, put on your pajamas, read a book or listen to some music, as we mentioned before. It will help you fall asleep and improve its quality and your rest.
If you still have trouble sleeping, you can always help yourself with an infusion to help you relax or a food supplement that prepares your body for the moment of sleep, such as, which helps to reduce the time needed to fall asleep.

*WARNING! - BRAGGING ALERT!* I DID IT ! My virtual walk from Lands End to John O’Groats. Back on the 27th February this year I started recording my dedicated walks. This didn’t include all the daily steps and walking done in the house, the office or anything under 20 minutes. I thought it was today, after my 40 minute stroll on this beautiful -1°c 🥶 morning. Slip sliding on the icy paths I arrived at the Swan Shopping Centre, that I had completed the 1306.35km, that’s 811.9 miles in old money. It was actually yesterday that I completed it. I had forgotten to link my December sheet to the summary. 🤦🏻 OK. That’s enough back slapping. Time to turn around and walk back.
