A Tiktok acquaintance was having trouble with a side crunch move on the pole, so I offered to make her a tutorial video in hopes of helping her with (what I suspected was) the missing piece of her technique.
I have no idea if anyone here on Tumblr is trying to nail a sideways pole trick, but if so, or even if you’re just interested in the anatomy of a side plank, enjoy. :)

suguru getting a pole installed in your place so that you can give him shows whenever he comes over.
at first, you were hesitant and quite frankly confused because you didn’t even know how to pole dance, but suguru didn’t care.
he wanted to see you on that pole, and asap, he made sure to come over every day and sit in a chair in front of the pole and just watch you.

that you did, and you regret it.
once you started to learn moves and how to spin and move your body more fluidly, he was on you like white rice.
he literally interrupted you and dragged you to the bedroom, fucking you into another galaxy, and he didn’t even want to stop.
“come on, bend down, and do the moves you were just doing, mm, just like that.” bending the arch in your back and fucking into you with no final words, just grunts after grunts.
this is what he wanted; he wanted you to get flexible and start doing those sexy, nasty moves on the pole for him. that was his foreplay.
you didn’t have any complaints at all. learning how to do all those moves was fun, but getting fucked by your man like he hated your fucking guts felt too good.
you even started to learn advanced moves and do full routines to keep him entertained, and boy did it.
his hands were in your panties every chance he got, and his lips were on your neck. he loved that shit, and he loved how nasty you got with it.
buying outfits and those 7-inch heels to get into full character, he would look at you with those low bedroom eyes and man spreading just waiting to touch you.

Belly Dance Observations Week 4
I am now going on record to state that belly dance is an essential ingredient for every female body interested in accessing its innate divine feminine power in a more accelerated journey. What I noticed this week was that my breasts have reverted back to their 20 year old texture. But it’s not about the aesthetics —they are lovely don’t get me wrong, but I'm 47 and not looking for my 20 year breasts...it is just what happened naturally. What enlivens me, what lights up my eyes and dilates my blood vessels, is that I have accessed another portal to tapping into larger untapped kinetic potential (energy, mystery, and freedom) held in the female body. More inner sunlight!
Speaking to another dance student in my class —a 60 year old body-aware ex-ballerina, she shared how she felt the same way when she first started and continues to feel that heightened radiance after each class. I get it though! The hips, spine, and belly hold power that fuels our entire ecosystem. They are the sunlight currency systems! Because I’m a pole dancer, a building/strengthening and flexibility-inducing sexy art, I felt the clarion call to nurture my center of reality with more fluidity and yin, to soften my belly and hips sort of speak. A soft belly with strong flexible legs means that the body is receiving an abundance of earth and water energy from the ground, the earth. Water and earth energy create a strong healthy lubricated female body wellspring. A lubricated female body is actually pulsing with the universe, which isn't about sex, as lovely and delicious as heart-connected sex can be. It is about creation. The creation of new narratives. The shimmies, hip drops, and belly shakes/pumps heat up or activate kundalini to help clear densely-blocked channels in our bellies from unresolved emotions in this recent life and past lives and the detached depression we continue to carry from our foremothers/forefathers trying to navigate inhumane, insanity, predatory Western systems, AND the repression from violence against our grandmothers and the accompanying terror of living in a female body throughout lifetimes.
Whew chile! No wonder so many of us behave out of alignment with our highest potential. But the beauty is that we are shifts and plot twists in our grandmothers' narratives. We have the opportunity NOW to heal in ways that our beloved grandmothers didn't have the opportunity to. Couple that with the fact that if we had a rough childhood, we must process those suppressed emotions throughout our bodies—loosen the shit up so that they can decalcify and be transmuted into more space and love that opens the way to making NEW CHOICES and IMPLEMENTING NEW HABITS🕊️! If you are highly-sensitive and empathetic like I am as well and have been working to open up your heart—to increase your frequency/magnetism through accessing more of your heart space, belly dance (or some other passionate movement like belly self-massages or other belly/hip grabbing, ass-gripping, and spine-undulating, deep-breathing touch during lovemaking) is essential and completely non-negotiable. Hot damn!
My teacher asked the other day how old I was. And she had to sit down in a chair in disbelief when I told her. I live a regenerative life and am always discovering new ways this body my soul essence lives inside of can come alive so that I share the discoveries with other women and non-binary people. I am sooooo in love with belly dance! If you are not resourced enough to get to a class, go to YouTube and find tutorials there. Play around there with moving your belly, back and hips in 4-dimensional ways. Trance out with it.
Such a big part of what I believe my role as a woman/myth being is to bequeath other women with the wisdom to navigate this human existence, to land fully in their bodies in this incarnation, and know in deepest sense that all of us is worthy and welcomed. We get to be in relationship with our bodies and all the feels-- from deep love to deep anger to sadness to pristine ecstasy. To feel them and let them run/drip/leak/undulate and be seen/felt in them and sometimes go deeply into what’s underneath when desired. In my last class, I cried for some unknown reason. It was incredibly liberating to just let it flow and move on.
Sometimes what I witness happen with women is that when we start feel our denser suppressed emotions like anger or rage, we stay in them for years....unconsciously-- without awareness, creating other calcifications like fibriods or tumors from either being easily triggered by the external world, not detoxifying and moving enough through our processes, or of course, never accessing what has been suppressed. And I get it too--it's a lot happening all at once and it can be a tough game to play . But this is the times we are living in and sometimes it's just hard so learn to be okay with life being hard while also keenly aware that it doesn’t always have to be. We have to be lovers again. A lover state of being is essential for our bodies' highest harmonies. But we also must be a bit like martial arts and warriors. Capoeira-style in the shape of belly dancers. We have to be here for all of it.
With feeling, also *practice* feeling the emotions that may be less natural for you to feel right now like joy, gratitude, appreciation, tenderness, ecstasy, softness, sweetness, relaxation, and serenity. Normalize these states so that your body receives neurotransmitters, endorphins, oxytocin, and serotonin that help to nourish and repair it. Rest, hike, touching, kissing, really good sex, good nourishing food, healthy relationships, laughter, limiting social media/tv, creativity/finishing projects, good music, and of course dance. As you release and open, you may find yourself rarely usurping emotions like "anger." Not that anything is bad/wrong about the very useful emotion of anger but when you consciously create your life, the more fulfilled you become, the less necessary the energy of anger becomes for you in how you process or experience life. But if ever needed again, you know how to access your anger, embrace it, and hold yourself in it by feeling it into a warm flow.

if the teacher has to leave the classroom, they'll most often put kristen or adaine in charge. with adaine everything goes fine. with kristen it's chaos incarnate that somehow (*riz) turns into them being productive by the time the teacher comes back
the kristen-and-fig combo has gotten at least 4 teachers fired.
they're not always trying to, but they pretty often are
fig specifically gets A Lot of spotlights in dances because she can be very Loud and Personable, but she has also had these spotlights taken away many times (she simply begins improving shit)
she got a solo this year because aguefort was a little bitch, knew gorgug wanted a solo, and so offered it to his best friend instead of him
ayda did not know this was her father's reasoning.
she just thought if was because fig's a good dancer (she is)
fabian and fig are The Flexible Ones™ and aren't. vocal about it, but they certainly aren't subtle, either. teachers have had to tell them to not make their splits too good.
riz is also pretty flexible, but his stature makes it less obvious. when your friends are all at least 2 feet taller than you your grande battement doesn't look as good.
fabian drags fig in early one day and asks her to do some improv with him bc he wants to try out for a swing dancing tournament, they have the time of their life.
gorgug and ayda often practice two different dances in the same room at the same time.
adaine and riz are the best technically, but they do struggle a lot with the acting part of it. walking into a class you'd expect the most awkward to be gorgug, but they were both trained on ballet-smile-fixed-on-your-face-at-all-times and so any acting at all is. extra practice for them
speaking of gorgug he's so quietly good. he can act and he knows the steps and he has good balance and good flexibility so. he's just good. but he's not loud about it, and the teachers don't often point it out
he writes the steps down before practicing throughout the week
riz makes tutorial videos for kristen (or for anyone if they miss a class) to help her learn and remember the steps. he says he likes doing it. nobody's 100% sure on that's true. (including him)
aelwyn and baron dance at the same studio (across town)
penelope originally danced at both and then she had a little scandal where she was blackmailing a teacher and she couldn't dance at either bc her father couldn't pay aguefort to cover it up
aelwyn starts working at aguefort's but refuses to teach anyone besides the ages 9-13 because "they're little shits and i need someone to tell me just what they're thinking, adaine."
zayn is inexplicably sometimes where ayda is. they're never in the same place at once but zayn just. appears. when ayda needs/wants to go do something and rawlins for some reason isn't there.

long answer and personal experiences below the cut!
The first thing I'd do is look into your local studios (googling helps). You don't need to be a professional to go to them. Think of it as signing up for yoga, you can sign up for a class (beginner to advanced/Pole 1-3 is what's offered at the studio I go to). Most places also offer tours and talk to you about what kind of lessons are available. Instructors, in my experience at least, have been professional and kind when talking to you about your goals.
If you don't have access to a studio, there are great tutorials online for free you can find on youtube. You would just need to look into the purchase of a home pole.
Like any sport it is difficult. But I find if you like it the challenges are more fun than they are frustrating. Just to note, it requires a lot of upper body strength, core strength to pull off some of the more difficult moves. But at the beginning you start off pretty slow. Grace and strength will come with time and practice.
The shoes, though sexy, are not required for the sport. Its encouraged for beginners to learn barefoot. There are heels classes to learn to dance safely in those shoes, if you work up the courage to try them down the line.

I'm curious on the steps you take once you get like an idea or start working on a request since this and trying to make up so much just from a prompt are the things i struggle a lot with when i try to write— & vvv quickly wanted to ask if you'd ever put your works up on ao3 ? thank you & wish you the bestest !
Hello, fellow writer!
Thank you! People say that sometimes, and it never fails to make me confused. I suppose the reader sees things that the writer cannot...
As you mentioned already, the first step is the idea, or the prompt. In the early days I just used Spin The Wheel for writing suggestions, but nowadays there's no shortage of ideas in my inbox.
So you could say that the idea isn't a problem, right? Wrong.
Not every one is the same. The key point in picking the right ask/idea is making it into a readable, interesting fic. In that sense, not every prompt is doable. Aside from the obvious ones that include things I don't write for, here are a few examples.
Too specific/complicated. Some asks include specific details that are hard to fit into the story as I see it, or limit the writing freedom. There are also the ones that basically are whole fics in themselves. *cough*Shrine Incident*cough*
Repetitive, and I don't mean the ask itself. Writing the exact same scenario over and over, but with different characters would lead to monotony on the blog, and very noticable shortage of unique content. Say, a wedding ceremony for every female character I write for. It would get really repetitive really fast, as most would just follow their culture's traditions with slight differences. Forcing every single one to be unique would be silly and OOC.
This may be a little harsh, but some are uninteresting. They are very rare, but they happen. Things like "their reaction to reader tripping on a shoelace" or "their reaction to getting a gift" would not amount to much readable content, as the reactions would be very limited in variety or straight up identical. Splitting the hairs would be annoying to write and boring to read.
The best ideas are those that are general, leaving much freedom for the writer, but still draw a rough framework to work within.
Now that I have the idea, I need to think it over (as every writer does). It usually takes plenty of time since I want to get solid ideas, not just any random thoughts. Not all ideas are workable into a readable fic as well. It takes longer for pure headcanons since those consist entirely of ideas. The general thought process for the more story-driven fics is something like "I want this to happen" or "I want to include this". Before I get to writing the post down, I already have a general, ordered plot line - it's only a matter of putting it into words and filling the gaps to connect the most important bits. The planning happens during my day - it comes naturally to me. Never once have I sat down and decided to think exclusively about a fic before making it.
There is also the research phase of my writing. Not all fics need research, but if they do, I won't shy away from it. I learned a lot about sepsis from an actual doctor when I was writing the old Fatui!Reader fic with Yelan, I read A LOT, and I mean A LOT about pregnancy for the fluff headcanons to make sure everything is realistic, making sure that X existed in medieval/reinessance times (it is very hard to decide if I should include it sometimes because Genshin's world is like a game of Sid Meier's Civilisation when it comes to technology), I watched a lot of pole dancing tutorials before writing the triple Sumeru smut to get a good reference point... speaking of smut, there is a lot of research going on there.
Why? Because I want to make smut hot. That is the ultimate objective, and sadly my nsfw imagination isn't that good. It has been getting better with the amount of smut I made so far, but it isn't as good as that of some authors. I also want to make sure things look and act as they would in reality. The realism, or making things believable, is one of my main objectives. That is also why smut takes the second spot for the longest writing time - I always want to make sure that things are in order and of as high quality as I can make them. Sadly, smut rarely has any comments. I know why, I understand why, but it does leave me guessing if it was really any good more often than not.
The final part of planning is choosing a format, and sometimes it is kind of hard to do. There are the obvious picks, but sometimes the request is vague enough, and the idea could work in all three - the bulleted headcanons, the mixed headcanons, and the narrative. There are a bunch of miscellany formats too, but I seldom use them.
When the planning is done, the writing part begins. It is rarely done in one sitting, since sometimes I get stuck on specific (usually liminal) points. The longer I am, the more frustrated and tired I get (the extensive planning itself is mentally exhausting, believe it or not), and I never want to write when exhausted. That said, there are some fics that I wrote like this, and people seemed to pay no mind. But still - I want to make sure I am thinking straight while putting my ideas into words. It is sort of a given, I know.
Sometimes I also pass the fic to my beta reader, but it's complicated. Then it's publishing time.
My advice here is to take frequent breaks. If you're barely keeping your eyes open, if you have a headache, if you want to throw your phone/pc/notebook through the nearest window, stop. Take a break, come back when you feel like it. (I'm assuming you write something like fanfiction) Do remember that fanfics are more about the vibe and ideas than real literary substance. If there's no willingness or passion when you write them, they may come out bland and forced. Personally, I focus on all three, but I would advise anyone to do otherwise. It's oftentimes a lot to think through, a lot to plan, and it occasionally gets frustrating.
Unless we're talking serious fanfiction, which in my writing is the Necro AU. Double everything I wrote here and you will get how much thought goes into the AU. Yeah.
As for making fics out of prompts. It depends heavily on the kind of prompt, the kind of fiction, the topic of the prompt, the characters involved and so on and so forth. Sometimes the prompt works with the character, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it gives you too little to work with, sometimes it gives you too much. I find that the ideas come to me themselves, but sometimes getting a bit of inspiration goes a long way. For example, when I was writing the smut and fluff headcanons for respectively Candace + Nilou and Candace, I went to an archeology exhibition regarding Tutankhamun's tomb. Yes, it was in my plans for a long time and yes, I used the ask as an excuse to finally go there, but it made writing that fun nevertheless. Sometimes you just need the right mood to get the ideas flowing.

I mentioned in my Jack Flowers reference art that he's got a stripper pole in his apartment. Well, here's where that originated from:
Jack and Jerry are talking about college stuff, and Jack mentions that he’s still working multiple part time jobs in his free time to pay his tuition (Jerry doesn’t have that problem, ofc. Daddy’s money and all). Jerry suggests he could be a stripper; “They make tons of dough every night, and it lines up with your whole insomnia thing!”
Ofc jack assumes he’s joking, and just punches him lightly as he laughs and says, “With my lack of ass? Yeah right.” and they’re all bantering and laughing about it. But the next day, Jerry’s at his apartment door with a suspiciously long package. Next thing Jack knows, he’s got a stripper pole in his apartment.
Jack knows that he doesn’t have any balance, and he's got the grace of a drunk giraffe, so any ideas for him even attempting to do anything crazy on the pole are immediately shut down (much to Jerry’s disappointment). It doesn’t stop Jerry from sending him tutorials on youtube over the next few weeks, though.
And if Jack sometimes got curious and ended up trying to follow along (and ending up with bruises around his joints), well…
(note: It’s still in his apartment to this day bc really… it took so much effort to put the thing up. He’s way too lazy to take it down. “Also, it gives the place character… I guess.”)

Xavier: [...] jerry earnestly suggesting that jack start stripping. and when jack points out he has no ass, i imagine jerry being like "well yeah but you've got this hot haunted twink look to you that people go crazy over." and they laugh and move on from that conversation, but then the next day jerry has installed a stripper pole. jack doesn't even have it in him to ask how he got one on such short notice.

I love following make-up tutorials so I was watching celebrity's make-up routines on YouTube. I see Haley's video pop up so I started watching it. I liked how she told that her ballet teacher teached her to say 3 things about yourself that you love. She said that she loves her nose, eyebrows and smiles. Then later in the video she sais how she started taking pole lessons because she's super fascinated with strippers and that she loves stripclubs. She likes embracing her sexual power because she feels that's not always easy.

Mariana moved to Florida from Puerto Rico with her parents at the age of 4. She had a relatively normal and happy childhood. She had a lot of friends from school and around her neighborhood. Her family was warm and loving, with homecooked meals every night and church every Sunday. She had an extensive collection of dolls, and as she got a little older, she discovered a talent for making clothing for them. She watched a lot of anime, such as Sailor Moon, and would design doll clothes based on the Sailor Scouts. She got good grades and would tell anyone who would listen she was going to go into fashion. All seemed perfect for Mariana to lead a loving and successful life.
And then, puberty set in.
She waited for a boy to show up that would sweep her off her feet and become her husband at the end of high school, but that didn’t happen. She wasn’t interested in any of the boys. Her eyes instead began to wander to her female classmates. She wondered what it would be like to kiss them. And then she would shut those thoughts down. After all, those thoughts were “sinful” and Mariana was not a sinner.
She buried those thoughts and feelings as deeply as she could as she entered high school. She started doing theatre, which is where she met Holly, and became the go-to person for costume help. As she became closer with Holly, Mariana convinced her to go to the first meeting of the new anime club, where they met Evie. Even though the anime club didn’t last very long, the three of them became close and started hanging out after school, working on homework and watching TV together.
And then, each of them went through The Worst Time, a monumentally horrific incident in each of their lives that drastically altered everything. (Which I will wait to disclose until I post the actual story)
Mariana’s happened first, at age 14. Her Worst Time caused her to lose her home, as her parents no longer wanted anything to do with her and she in turn vowed never to speak to them again. Evie’s family ended up taking her in, helping support her until she graduated and the trio got a place of their own.
Like with Holly, Mariana hadn’t actually watched Naruto until Evie introduced them to it. She was immediately taken by Sakura and sympathized with her feeling weak and like she was being left behind. The trio also decided to go to a convention together, and Mariana debuted her Sakura cosplay for the first time. It got her a lot of attention, and she decided that this was what she wanted to do with the rest of her life.
She threw herself into improving her craft and started completing in masquerades and cosplay contests. She took commissions for cosplay accessories. She sold calendars and posters of herself. She also started making tutorials about how to sew and craft costumes.
By the time of Who You Are At Night, she’s one of the most successful cosplayers in the world. She is also excited about being in the Naruto world, but also is the one pushing the strongest to find a way back because she belongs in the Real World.
Other fun stuff:
She can speak both Spanish and English fluently. She can understand some Japanese, but is nowhere near fluency.
Her exercise activity of choice is pole dancing. She finds it a fun way to keep fit, and has incorporated the pole into a few of her photoshoots.
Her favorite movie is Legally Blonde. She can quote the entire film from memory.
Her D&D character is a tiefling wizard named Chryssa.
She has an intense phobia of being submerged in water. She can shower ok, but baths, pools, etc are a big no from her.
She worked as a waitress while the trio were starting off their internet careers.
She is easily the most level-headed of the three, though she will absolutely throw hands if you threaten her friends.
She too will have powers! (Again, the exact nature of her powers will have to wait until the story is ready, but I simply won’t abide my OCs not being overpowered <3)

Jinkx makes it look so easy, the way she ascends the pole and spins around and around. Fortunately, she tells you, you'll be doing some basic moves as this is your first class. You still feel nervous.
You just can't seem to get the hang of it. The others seem to be doing much better than you whilst you keep losing your balance. Jinkx places her hand on the small of your back, guiding you.
"Trust yourself, darling."
It's hard to trust yourself when you keep falling off and you ask to be excused for a minute, feeling yourself fighting back tears.
Jinkx finds you crying in the corridor and holds you against her chest, you barely know her but you feel completely safe.
"Do you know how long it took me to learn how to climb that fuckin' pole?" she asks, her voice soft as she nuzzles into your hair. "A goddamn month."
You giggle and she squeezes you closer.
"Come and give it another try, baby."
You sigh, but she gives you that signature look, the one you know you shouldn't second guess. She leads you back by the hand.
It takes forever, but you finally get a feel for the basics. You don't feel sexy yet, but the way she looks at you is making you feel some kind of way.
She holds you up, her body against yours, whispering words of encouragement in your ear.
When you ask her if she'd like to have a drink after class she gladly accepts.
