I'm far off from editing this spy au I'm podficcing, but I keep wondering how folks feel about gunshots/bullet sfx in podfics...????

✨️ GENTLE REQUEST: If you don't listen to podfics or podcasts, pls select an answer in the hypothetical event that you (don't select Other).. and pls reblog for a bigger sample size!

** This may or may not effect my decision, I am simply just curious (I am already leaning towards not adding it because I don't want to exclude folks with ptsd or folks who just don't like the sound).

In case this clarifies anything: the sound of machine guns and pistols in particular is what I'm curious about, not so much like the dropping bullet shells or anything gun related that isn't a gunshot.

My chosen example word is "dizi" -- a type of Chinese flute. In English, the obvious pronunciation is "dee-zee." In Chinese, it's something like "dee-z'h," the second "i" muted in a sound English speakers don't typically make. Which is better: to be accurate, despite the English words on either side? Or be inaccurate, but potentially smoother to the ear?

If I add it as a new chapter, then previous readers who subbed can see it & my fic will show up again earlier in search results which equals more people get to see it.

If I add it just within the body of the work, only new readers will know about it if they find my fic through filtering methods.

If I upload it as its own work, new readers can find it, but are less likely to click on it because it won't have any stats, which many readers care about.

Ultimately, I just want to share my stories with as many ppl as possible, but I don't want to clutter the search results or my own works list. What do y'all think? I'm open to suggestions.
