ALR SO first of all I'm in love with the game and the extended demo is not even out, the "there's not really a good/bad/neutral ending it's just an ending" it's my favorite genre of games, it's like a weight out of my shoulders kdndn

anywaYs i wanted to know how exactly the gameplay works? Like-it's a visual novel duh and it's gonna have quicktime events/minigames (from what I've read) but the story is linear? It's event after event or you can choose which ones you wanna/can play depending the season?

But yeah the gameplay's pretty linear and you do get to choose the events you play through! I hope you're curious about the back end of things, but essentially the team's always gonna write 6 (ehh 7) events for a given season. One of them is the main event, which in the case of the first spring season is the BBQ event, and then the rest are invitational events. The way those work is that someone from the cast is going to invite you to do something in a buffer scene, whether its by text or by call, and you have the option to decline or accept it. Each time this happens, you get invited to three events out of the five at the same time. So when it happens it's always random BUT you'll always get invited to one of these events at least once.

Now here's the kicker. Even though we've made five invitational events, you only play three of them in a season. Why we do this-- well it's because I want you to consciously decide what memories you want to make with our crew. Plus time isn't always on your side, so as nice as it would be to do everything, you can't always do the things you want to do. ^^, (also replayability HUZZAH!)

But anyway, once you played through the three you want, there's this kind of interlude event that wraps up the season and then you repeat the same process all the way to the end of the game!

Sprinkled in to kind of break the monotony of just "playing" through an event are the Quick Time Events and Minigames like you've read! QTEs would be more common, and you can disable it if you'd like, minigames are definitely rare but I do want to incorporate them too. There's one I really am excited for but it's unfortunately for a summer event so alas it won't be in the extended demo.

You can... hmm... probably think of Keyframes like Tokimeki Memorial if you know what that game is. And actually you should haha when I was pitching this game to our writing director that was all they could compare it to and after seeing a gameplay of it-- yeahhhh I have to agree. Stat-raising, deciding what you'll do for a day... yeahhhh

But hope that gives you an idea of what we're trying to do!

Chapter 3: Can we talk for a minute? - This is the Neighborhood Din Series.

This week there were a few things, like the writing challenge 2.0 @iamasaddie put together. We sent in asks, pick a color (I did it to myself, I asked for mob enforcer- where else was the fic to go but dark?) Despite being kinda freaked out at what I wrote (I’ll need to process that later) I like it. I usually don’t do dark fics but given recent themes in my writing it’s there. 👀 So I’ll write it if it pops up in the brain.

And this past weekend (I totally missed but sweethearts @perotovar and @honeyedmiller tagged me in) was the @swiftiscruff friendship exchange. From what I saw, people are writing fics for each other, making gif and moodboards and proving much needed friendship and fun. 😎

I’m sure there are other things. But I dunno what they are. 🤣 I hope everyone enjoys what they’re working on. And if you need to rest, drink some water, dance around, nap, all the things.

This week there will another chapter of Din’s neighborhood, I FINALLY have more Din fluff. Well in the neighborhood and Star Ocean Series. I should have another chapter of Benny and actual fluff post apocalypse. It escaped last week. So we’re bringing it back.

No more Ezra and his gumbo or tanktop 🥺 Part 8 will be up next Sunday. His prose will be no more for now. 🙃

My Frankie miniseries will be almost done. This Friday and the next Friday of my math is right. lol

Vic's been playing poker. Lots of opportunities to wander around and get into trouble while keeping him retired from heroing and from journalism, it works for him.

I like how low key this is, despite everything. Vic and Jean-Paul are weird dudes with a lot of problems and that's on full display.

Green Lantern #81

Another cameo that's only notable because I have no clue why Vic would be here. He has literally never met Hal Jordan, how did he get an invite. He's even standing off to the back instead of sitting with everyone else.

The Question Returns

The river emissary is conceptually a lot better than any of the other supernatural takes on the Question. The idea that Vic's death in the river would make his conscience literally haunt him is interesting, and it being questionably supernatural is more to my taste. Making the river a magical harmonica-playing old black man was not a great choice though.

Vic describing Tot as "an ex-father figure" makes me want to implode.

"these auditory hallucinations are getting on my nerves" BIG mood.

Vic is a mess. He can't go home, he can't stay away, he's shifted from Vic Sage the hard-hitting journalist to Vic Sage the laid-back poker player but he hasn't been able to change the Question. This is why he takes up so much space in my brain.

Even after he left he still held on to his love for Myra and Hub City, and this is where he can't do it anymore. He will never see her again. Godddddddd.

Steel #38

I hadn't read this one before, and I'm glad I'm reading it now, because it's great. I gotta get into Steel eventually.

Vic declares himself teammates with John and then immediately splits up and gets his shit wrecked. Maybe let the guy with power armor protect you next time.

This wandering gambler era is fun, I wish it had lasted a little longer. There are so many interesting places Vic could pop up with poker incidents as an excuse, it's the perfect way to keep him around without him having anything specific going on.

A World for Burning (Tec #714-715)

Calling her a supporting character is maybe a stretch but she gets to talk to Martian Manhunter so I'm counting it.

A fun little mystery story.

Cataclysm

Vic interlude is over, time for events.

I like Cataclysm quite a bit. It's heavy on the cop shit and some of the issues are just not good, but I think the earthquake makes for a better citywide event than any of the "oh no it's the Joker" ones, and everyone involved really gets to shine.

Once again I am forced to admit I like when Cluemaster shows up. Steph saving her dad from Helena despite everything is a strong moment.

Random Encounters (Batman Chronicles #14)

OH NO. Ohhhh no. Strap in folks it's time for her to become a main character.

Renee talks to her brother about his guilt over killing when he was in the Navy, and she uses Two-Face's coin to make her point about randomness and how right and wrong aren't simple, which. Hhhhh.

Apparently she shot a guy who was trying to kill Two-Face, and got the coin in return.

Sorry but Renee flipping the coin and making decisions based on the outcome fucking annihilates me and I cannot BELIEVE I hadn't read this before now.

This isn't even a comic it's a short story. Eight pages of Rucka setting up the dominoes.

Screwed by inadequate relief? Sure. Wiped off the map? Lol no.

We've been in Gotham long enough, time to go do Some Bullshit!

This is in continuity, but it ignores all of Vic's canon post-Charlton - he's a newscaster working with Nora from the Ditko run, Hub City is Ted's home city but not his, he's characterized pretty much how he was in Charlton and those few Blue Beetle crossovers post-Crisis... the other heroes seem a little more up-to-date but they're all still kind of janky.

Wow this does not do a good job making me care about any of these characters.

The plot is mostly racist and/or nonsense and most of it bounced right off my brain despite repeated readings.

Honestly I'm here for Ted more than Vic. He's going through it.

I do like the framing device of Vic writing his report in the final issue. The real treasure was the friends we made along the way.

album review: Wachito Rico -- boy pablo

ALBUM RATING: 7.5/10

initial thoughts

i got some motivation to do another album review again HAHAHSH thanks @dumdum0515 for this rec! i haven't listened to a lot of boy pablo's discography (the few songs i listened to were just okay), so i'm not too sure if i'll like this, but i'm hopeful :)

track 1: ​i hope she loves me back

Okay woah I immediately liked the synth in the beginning! Lyrics are just okay to me, but the whole track is definitely a vibe + his voice fits that vibe, and I generally love the instrumentals.

8/10, i would relisten for the amazing synth

track 2: hey girl

This is groovy! The track starts off strong and immediately with the hook, that is repeated throughout, which makes it quite catchy. I like how it swells at the chorus, and the bridge is really cool too. It reminds me of The Beginning by Magdalena Bay, just slightly

8/10 too, any song that can be compared to The Beginning is amazing in my books

track 3: leave me alone!

THE BUILD UP BEFORE THE FIRST CHORUS?? it was unexpected and it works SO WELL with the chorus! plus that outro after that?? omg. I also love the bridge, it's a vibee. I like the drums in this song, and generally like the melody more than the previous two, so:

9.5/10! it was an immediate add to playlist

The lyrics on this track are quite pretty and poetic, this is quite nice and the repeated notes in the chorus remind me of 'if i let u in' by Shye.

6/10, a very decent track! (I just liked it less than the previous 3)

track 5: rest up

Hmm, this track is okay! The hook is pretty good, and I just realised boy pablo's voice sounds kinda similar to Rex Orange County LOL.

A cute and quite an aesthetic song! The lyrics feel like they can be quoted, and the bridge sounds like it would fit the ending of an episode in a tv series, when there's a resolution (something like Space Song in Wednesday)

Aww a sweet interlude! I like the vibes, and it extends from te vas//don't go quite well!

Strong beginning again! It cools off into a more chill, slower pace which fits the home-y and welcoming vibes that the lyrics are trying to convey. Lyrics and melody/rhythm are integrated really well in this :)

This is okay to me! I like the general hook and the back part, the instrumentals after the lyrics

track 10: vamos a la playa

It's speeding up the pace for the next track, and OH THE TRANSITION?? Albums get bonus points to me if they have great transitions, so it looks like this album is going to qualify

OHH title track time. I immediately liked this! Instrumentals and melody, high scores across the board, plus a cool bridge?!!

A quieter, acoustic track! Love the vibes and it sets the mood for the last 2 tracks from this album. Really quotable lyrics too, and the repeated lyrics work well in this track

I love this soft track, it ends the album well, especially the slower cool down from the bridge onwards. How the instrumentals briefly pause,, i love that type of syncopation so much!

I love this song so much!! With the creative use of build ups and quite a unique mix, it is memorable and reminds me of my favourite synth-pop tracks (although it's not exactly synth-pop). Definitely my favourite from this album

Overall, this album is very cohesive and I appreciate the 3 transition tracks! This was better than I expected and I'll definitely be listening to leave me alone! for a bit, and I'm sure the slower songs will grow on me with another listen.

[Plus-Tech Squeeze Box] (2000)

Plus-Tech are a Japanese Picopop trio (They are a trio, not a duo. Wikipedia is WRONG!!!) who are known for their off the wall music and lively sound.

Plus-Tech Squeeze Box's first album, released in 2000. 'FAKEVOX' is all over the place, It's a kid who cant sit still. Full of wonder and life. High-pitched sounds and upbeat melodies are the backbone of this album. If this Album was food it would be a strawberry sundae. It's hyper sweet, cute and feels like a sugar rush.

(also on a side note. I have noticed that Plus-Tech have been featured a lot in British stuff, for example they have been on the BBC quite a few times and featured in a British Coca-Cola ad. Just thought that was interesting....) anyway on with the review.

Track 1: Channel No.17

"What time is it?!"

Plus-Tech really sets the tone of the album with this intro track. You are hit with all sorts of sounds from VOX samples to bowling balls and carnival sounds. It's fast and alive.

Track 2: early RISER

"Bouncy!"

Track 2 is quintessential 2000's hyper J-pop. This song reminds me so much of the Jet-Set Radio OST and I love it. Plus-Tech create super catchy ear worm songs that play on loop in your mind all day. It's so upbeat you can't even be annoyed at it.

Track 3: A Day In The Radio

"I'm a plus-tech girl friend!"

Track three is more vocal based letting Kamada sing. This is another cute song you can't possibly feel mad when listening to.

Track 4: Test Room

"1,2,3,4. Plus-Tech!"

Test Room is a super bright song. It's fast, lively and experimental. The vocal chop in this song carry it a long way. It's just so satisfyingly to listen to lol.

Track 5: rocket coaster

"Rocket coaster! la, la, la, la-la."

Track 5 is Plus-Tech's most popular track for a reason. It's definitely their most accessible song by far for a normal audience. It's got a nice duet going on, a catchy chorus and a light rock instrumental. Really sweet and cute song.

Track 6: Scene1 - launch a spaceship into space →

Track six is an interlude following the space theme of the album.

Track 7: ☆

"Have you ever met a great astronaut?"

Track six takes us right back into the cutesy vibe with an instrumental that wouldn't be out of place on a Frenesi album, especially with those tom drums and pluck-y melody.

Track 8: White Drops 

"fantastic..."

Man, White Drops. This song will always have a special place in my heart. I really do love this song. It's so nostalgic to me. It's so simple yet so affective, It's upbeat, endearing and... idk cozy?

Track 9: MILK TEA

"しまうのさー”

Milk tea is an other nostalgic song for me as I used to listen to it a lot. It's got guitar, synths, vocals and bleeps n bloops. what more can you ask for in a song to be honest?

Track 10: Scene2 - citybilly lived happily after

"BEEEWOOP! FUNNY GUITAR!"

Lots of sounds and a guitar. This song is like if you were at a fair on many, many substances.

Track 11: Sneaker Song!

"Why don't you tell me? hey! you're little rascal!"

Sneaker song goes right back to the hyper sound that the rest of the album follows. Lots of bleeps and gated sounds. This song has more of a pop-rock guitar lean though.

Track 12: ​clover

"いつのまにか降り止んだ雨"

Clover is a great outro because it changes the vibe of the album completely. It is the complete opposite of the rest of the album taking on a more melancholy down-tempo tone. A lot less vocal processing and FX. But the a happy sounding melody comes in creating a bitter sweet end to the album. This song reminds me of looking through old photos. Sad it's over, glad it happened.

Overview: FAKEVOX

FAKEVOX is a great introduction to hyper J-pop and Picopop, if any of this sounds interesting to you I highly recommend this album. It's sugary sweet with a lot of life to it.

TMC ramblings

Lots of good progress on The Magnificent Centuries today. Just freaking fixing things and moving on helped a lot.

The thing I like about flying by the seat of your pants within the confines of an outline is that I have to worry less about where I'm going. I hadn't planned this specific Dis/Kili scene, but I think I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

I'm struggling a bit with representing Kili's sexual experience/lack of sexual experience. For what is meant to be a very smutty omegaverse harem fic, so far his representation (convo with his mom, being dragged like a sack of potatoes to his heat chamber) has been pretty chaste. On the one hand, that reflects how his life has been since coming-of-age (there's a several year gap between coming of age and presenting - presenting is considered sexual maturity, which is different from coming-of-age). On the other, turning him into the sexpot I need him to be is now a little tough. Not that I can't do it, it's just so far I feel like I'm not doing GREAT at making the transition believable. In the context of omegaverse, the heat phenomenon is often a dramatic event, so uncharacteristic shifts in personality potentially could go hand in hand with that. Maybe that's Kili getting a little taste of what his brother felt, and that Fili still doesn't desire him despite being sexually active will further hurt him once he realizes how much it increases the sex drive. (*hastily takes notes* This is good, this is good.) The prophecy plot line is so flimsy, too, but it does tie into basically every omega feeling a compulsion to offer themselves to Thorin pretty much at all times. *shrug* The idea is to flesh it out the more we go, but in my recent re-read, I went back and forth believability on it depending on the scene.

Then there's Ori's characterization. I have a lot in store for him, but I fear being resented for going with the typical fandom interpretation of him, which we all have to admit is absolutely nothing like the film depiction. A well spoken but shy and secretly highly competent scholar who has uncharacteristic outbursts of hesitant bravery, and he's pretty and always Balin's assistant. I like my Ori this way, but it's pretty, um, I dunno. It's done a lot.

It also takes me so long to write everything, as in, IN fic. We have an interlude between Dis and Kili as he comes out of his heat, Kili reuniting with the company and therefore Thorin (and Fili, whose perspective I feel I ALSO need in this chapter, if only to whumpify him because being around his recently presented little brother is TORTURE (*takes more notes*)). Bilbo gets a small scene every chapter, and then I need to leave Rivendell before the chapter is through. There's also a shift over to the POV of King Bard in Dale for a convo with a certain wizard and elf king. Plus back in Rivendell, I could really use a small scene for Elrond and Lindir. It's A LOT.

I have 15 pages so far that just cover Dis/Kili and the majority of the scene in Dale. I know my chapters are around 25 pages so far, and I can't see myself getting all that in in 10 pages lol.

I just feel like if I produce a chapter with less than that (story coverage, not page count), my pace for the story will be too slow. I, myself, greatly anticipate Bilbo joining the harem, but it doesn't happen until after Thorin has been installed on the throne at least few weeks. In future chapters the caravan travels through Khazad-dum (where we get the scoop on Azanulbizar and some OC members of the line of Durin and meet many of the OC dwarves that will end up serving in Erebor), the Woodland Realm, Dale, and then finally Erebor. I feel like that's a good three or four chapters away already. Is that ridiculous? I suppose it would be if it was JUST a Bagginshield fic. My point is, I know readers are eager to get to Erebor and get to the good stuff. So if I pair the chapters down, we' looking at 7-8 shorter chapters before Erebor. I don't seem to be able to really clamp down on all the introspective and narrative (I actually do quite a damn bit in editing, but I'm still churning out 25 page chapters despite that). So I'm referring to splitting them up in order to be less exhausting for my readers, not actually writing... less. Ugh I frustrate myself sometimes. I wonder if Tolkien ever felt bogged down by how much he wanted to talk about trees and dykes. (I don't have a grain of rice worth of talent compared to him, and that's not what I'm doing.)

I don't have a good idea of whats really important to include, so I just chuck it all in. I'm spending to much time on the introspective, or the narrative, or both. I don't know.

Agust D - D-2

Wikipedia says that this album is intended to contrast with Agust D, and I can totally see that. It’s much more mellow, and it deals a lot less with his past and a lot more with present issues. I think I preferred it lyrically, too; the more introspective themes hit home a lot better for me. Musically, same as Agust D, it wasn’t particularly interesting, but that’s also not the point. The music here isn’t the focus; the music is intended to set a stage for the lyrics. I likely won’t listen to many of these, because I don’t speak Korean, but listening to the album as a whole with the lyrics was a great experience. Dear my friend was definitely my favorite song on the album in that listen, although he did do a few interesting things in other songs. Plus I love birdsong. Average score of 8.1 which feels about right compared to Agust D. This album felt a lot less raw, a lot more controlled, and I think he was able to better develop the themes that he wanted to explore because of that. But again, I wouldn’t compare either of these albums with any of the other stuff; I’d compare them to each other.

I have been writing every day this month. But now it seems I will have to erase the last few thousand words bc they're not working. I cannot build on a foundation I know is faulty. Building for this long.... perhaps it's all bad. I mean what am I making this for. People aren't reading it, aren't enjoying it. It's in a very niche fanfic realm.

I need to finish it. But. Won't matter if I just rus through it.... bc I may not like the last part but the whole thing of 350k words is probably no good anyway. Like my other writing. I've written over 16 novels/novellas (some fanfic some not) and self published 3... which have few reviews and I took 1 off bc it had 1 review and that was bad.

I had 2 short stories published 7 years ago and when I told my grandma she said, you're 30 aren't you? Shouldn't you have accomplished more by now?

Um. Yes. And here I am.

13 years post college and 0 to show for it.

Still living with parents.

I had an internship I was fired from. I did temp and very minor jobs-- babysitting, crossing guard, simple office tasks with moms office. Wow. Data entry. Couldn't stand it but that's all I was capable of. Many interviews I failed bc. I can't hide my nervousness. I'm just incapable of pretending to be something I'm not, to hide any feelings plus I'm a loser who cannot suppress any feelings of terror.

I caused 5 car accidents, totaled my parents car once. Bc I couldn't learn how to drive. My reaction time is like half the speed of others. I'm I'm ridiculously slow compared to others. At everything. Can't figure out simple instructions like the internship. Like the restaurant job-- they kept having to tell me how to fold a wrap and I couldn't get it! How much of a loser is that!

Pet sitting for 10 years. Wow. Dont need any skill for that. Couldn't do more than a few a day or I get exhausted bc of driving, b irregular schedule. Stayed at other houses sometimes.

I think, I want to do something more. Work for myself but move toward what I want most, what I believe in and love doing.

But maybe someone like me isn't capable of achieving their dreams.

I took like 5 years (13 really...flailing around) to figure it out. Looking around for what I'd like, trying...

Oh. I find out I like creating things. After 4 years making stupid crafts none of them are any good. I have ideas but can't execute them.

During covid the world slowed and I figured I could catch up. Lol. I took some classes. Some I didn't like, like proofreading and gift baskets. Some I did like, like research and dog treat bakery. And printables

Flop around several more years, world keeps moving in while I stand still. I have to figure this out. Move out. This year. This year. This year. (I looked at houses since like 2015. Not being able to afford. I did get approved for a loan in 2020 and looked at a house and applied for it but then thought... no I can't afford it with my other expenses incl horse board. On $1200/month. So I dropped out. And lost most of my pet siting income in 2020 so. )

Finally I'm like, I have to figure out now and move forward. (I write notes, and I think this often. Trying to organize in right way... find right focus... don't want to for instance waste money on a degree that will get me nowhere. None will get me anywhere bc I'm not capable of anything)

An interlude, Feb 2022 Ukraine war explodes into my mind. I do nothing for several months (besides neccesities) other than follow developments. Then I'm like, I have been looking into this anyway, I'll do OSINT. Research and help them. But in practice-- I can't figure it out. Well... I'm just so unfocused. Don't know what I'm doing as always. I have desire to but my mind doesn't work this way. Looking at extreme details. And I am deeply affected by any sort of people on distress AND looking at harsh words... with this mental health...well.

I figure I had better try to earn some money. I can send more to Ukraine anyway . And other places (since that's about all I can do. Which is almost not worth doing its so insignificant) I need to move out. Well.. who wants to be associated with this anyway. I should probably just move to a cabin and not bother anyone.

Only when reality doesn't hit me can I focus on ideas and moving toward my dreams!! Which is every day! Till they get dashed again! Til I try to do something and it fails! Ad infinitum. Bc I have 0 capability. To do anything. Nothing normal and nothing I long to do

I figure I'll make some printables. Small digital products... start w that so I can get passive income going. I have an idea. Novelember. Lol. Bc nano didn't work for me so I'll make an alternative. I work on some free printables (well I have to make it free bc nano is also they're simple. But I can practice here and get ppl coming to my site, perhaps getting my books ...lol). What happens? It takes off? No. Fizzles. Like everything. I was all motivated and working on those stupid things for hours. Now what

I think oh I'll sell some crafts. For Christmas etc. I work on one yesterday. Oh this is a good idea.

Then I look at what people have made on pinterest and etsy. They. Actually know how to do art. I... like my printables... know how to arrange things in a simple order like any kindergartener can do.

I want passive income and non computer jobs so I can work on writing and research the rest of the time. Things I'm passionate about, not just like. Do creative things for my own business. And write... make my blog and research to help people, consolidate Ideas (idea person. Big picture. When I can't do even small things lol). And get a masters degree. Move forward. I can do it! Yesterday I'm like, I will do psychology, help kids who were abused, have a farm with therapy with animals and art... write and research (intellgence!) Get osint.... get media psychology to counter propaganda... I can do all of this! My own business Creating things... raise animals, grow plants and mushrooms, rescue animals. Adopt.... board animals, have trail rides. Petting zoo, cat catfe...camps... volunteer and travel...

Until I actually try to do things.

I have to move forward, move out

I long to achieve my dreams and work for what I feel strongly about and create .... something worthwhile and write something amazing and impactful

But my dreams are jokes bc I am. Completely hollow and a failure-- born like this incapable.

Do you ever get so mad about a story that you decide to just...rewrite the entire thing?? No? Well, that’s what I did here! I’ve literally been mad about his route since I first read it in Japanese back in May 2021 (ask any of my friends/boyfriend and they will tell you I complained on the daily for several months lol). So I decided to just put that angry energy into making a whole new route! I did my best to keep people in character as much as possible, and base Jasper’s character more from the event story Jasper. 

Like many people I was very excited to read Jasper’s route, because he seemed like a great character. But then they totally ruined his route by making him a sex offender*. The CoD localizers did their best to make it seem consensual so that international fans wouldn’t lose their shit over it, but there’s no erasing it completely. While I know the localizers did the best they can to save the route, I don’t think it really can be saved. The best thing at this point is to throw away the whole route and make a new one. So, here we are! 

Since the plot is completely different, there’s likely going to be many instances that the characters may seem slightly different as well. (Plus the only character whose speech patterns I’ve cared enough to learn is Toa, so...)

I’m indecisive, so disclaimer lol. But I wanted to be self-indulgent for a moment and share my very favorite albums of 2020. In a year where I felt both alone and lonely, music was massively important to me. I tried to limit this to my top ten but I’m too indecisive and a lot of amazing music came out this year so there’s eighteen albums lol. Why not. So yeah, enjoy or ignore, I just had the urge to do this. (This isn’t in order except BE, D-2, Maria, and Map of the Soul: 7 are all definitely in the top five.)

I mean come on. This was the pandemic album we all needed and I will forever be grateful for this masterpiece. I think this is an album that will grow with me and will kind of act as a companion throughout my life. The musicality, the lyrics, the variety, all of it, it’s just perfection. It feels like a friend who gives you comfort but also makes you confront your emotions, and that was everything I needed this year. I will forever be obsessed with this one. BE is my friend.

Agust D came back and he fucking owned it. The amount of pure talent and passion in this mixtape is un-fucking-real. Yoongi is just unbelievably talented and this album perfectly displays that. Plus, these songs have been my ride or die since May, like, there isn’t a week that goes by that I don’t listen to this album in full at least once. Just incredible.

⟶ Top Tracks: LMM, Maria, Intro: Nobody Else, WHY, I’m bad too

This album is so connected to my fucking soul. I swear, Ahn Hyejin and I’s emotions are so similar and the way we process them is soooo similar, this album just honestly means the world to me. Plus, it’s amazing. Every song is a masterpiece. Obsessed. Much like D-2, I listen to this album at least once a week. And the number of times I have cried listening to it is unreal. Intro: Nobody Else is very much how I felt this year and LMM has made me cry more times than I care to admit. This album makes me feel what I’m feeling, gives me comfort, and helps me pick myself back up again. Another one that will grow with me. This year through the loneliness and in times that I felt I had no one, this was my companion.

Come onnnnnn. Perfection!!!! Quite literally the album that has been there with me through every step of this pandemic. I still cry watching the Ego mv. Why? No clue, just makes me sob tears of happiness. Black Swan? Possibly one of my very favorite songs EVER. OF ALL TIME. My Time? Relatable as fuck. Friends? The cutest thing I’ve ever heard. Moon? I’m sobbing again, that’s my emotional support Seokjinnie. Just, the album is a goddamn masterpiece, I don’t care who disagrees, my opinion is fact on this one.

↬ love is not dying — Jeremy Zucker

⟶ Top tracks: full stop, oh, mexico, hell or flying, lakehouse

Jeremy is another one that I just feel emotionally related too. Like I just get what he says and means and it hits me right in the heart and mind and gut. Another companion album. I think full stop is one of the most relatable songs I’ve ever heard- lyrically and the way it builds and becomes a bit chaotic… like whoah. I feel that in my chest. Also, oh, mexico is another song I related to so hard this year. This album has just made a massive impact on me and I love it.

↬ folklore — Taylor Swift

⟶ Top tracks: seven, peace, the lakes, the 1

So Taylor surprised everyone with an album. What the fuck, ma’am? This is my second favorite Taylor album to date, second to only her second surprise album of the year. Like what? I’ve cried listening to this album and absolutely sobbed listening to seven. She just really popped off with this one and I don’t think I need to explain to you all why this album is so good. If you’ve heard it, you know.

↬ evermore — Taylor Swift

Oh here we have another surprise album, and now my favorite album by Taylor. I think this album perfectly displays Taylor’s insane lyricism better than any of her works. This album just hit really different for me, every song was my favorite on first listen and I still have the hardest time picking favorite tracks. It’s just beautiful and it’s great and I love it a lot.

↬ SAWAYAMA — Rina Sawayama

Have you heard it? If so, you know why it’s on this list. Pop perfection. Rina is a goddess. That’s that. It’s just amazing. Rina is a visionary and this album displays that perfectly. Comme Des Garçons was the first song of hers I ever heard and I was immediately obsessed. Next level, this woman. A queen.

↬ Petals For Armor — Hayley Williams

⟶ Top tracks: Crystal Clear, Why We Ever, Over Yet

Wow. Just, bless Hayley for this. Crystal Clear has quickly become one of my very favorite songs ever and Why We Ever is a little too relatable. And I distinctly remember hearing Over Yet for the first time in May and feeling joy for the first time since the pandemic started. This album is one to listen to when you’re mad, sad, when you need comfort, or when you’re ready to heal. Honestly, another companion.

⟶ Top tracks: Like You Do, Your Man, Sanctuary, MODUS, Run, Mr. Hollywood

I could honestly list nearly every song on this as a top song. Holy shit. Joji is another visionary. He’s insane and I’m obsessed with this album. I swear, every time I listen a new song jumps out as a favorite. Like You Do is a song that just means so much to me. A masterpiece. This album is my go to when I’m looking to get into my feels. Also Daylight isn’t listed in the top tracks but what a fucking bop. I’m just in love with this album. For real, obsessed.

↬ Plastic Hearts — Miley Cyrus

⟶ Top tracks: Angels Like You, High, WTF Do I Know, Midnight Sky, Never Be Me, Plastic Hearts

I’ve never been like an avid listener of Miley, just a few tracks, but this year I got more into her. And this album, goddamn. Every song is a contender for top track. How does that happen? Midnight Sky? Huge for me this year. Like I cannot tell you how massive of an impact this song made on me. Angels Like You is such a perfect song. High is a little too relatable. Just seriously, wow. Kind of speechless, I just adore this album.

↬ Positions — Ariana Grande

⟶ Top tracks: pov, obvious, 34+35

The way I cried my first time hearing pov. Ari what are you doing to me? That song is just such a beautiful way to look at love and this whole album is just so healing. A happy spot on this whole year. 34+35 is a thot anthem and I’m obsessed. This album is just another example of Ariana’s talent and we were all blessed to be able to hear it.

↬ CALM — 5 Seconds of Summer

⟶ Top tracks: Wildflower, Lover of Mine, Best Years, Teeth, High

I don’t care if y’all think it’s cool to like 5sos or not, this album is so fucking good. It far exceeded my expectations. Some of these songs are some of my favorites for the year. Wildflower is a fucking happy pill and Best Years makes me fucking cry. High is too relatable, and Teeth may as well have been written about me. And Lover of Mine perfectly relates to the most important relationship of my entire life. I’m gonna say it, Luke Hemmings is such an underappreciated lyricist. The man is good. I love this album a lot.

I never really listen to Halsey so it took me a long time to give this album a try and wow I’m so glad I finally did. It became an instant fav. Honesty, anything Yoongi touches is a favorite for me so obviously that song would be in my tops, but Forever … (is a long time) is so relatable and just so fucking good. And Finally // beautiful stranger is honestly my favorite Halsey song ever. It’s stunning. This album is amazing. Period.

↬ Future Nostalgia — Dua Lipa

This album is just disco pop perfection and I’ve been obsessed all year. It’s the perfect album to listen to when you just wanna fucking dance and forget about all the shit that 2020 gave us. The perfect escape and it’s so so fun and the songs are just bops. I’ve probably listened to this album a hundred times because it’s just the perfect escape. If I wanna let go for a bit, this is my go to.

↬ Punisher — Phoebe Bridgers

⟶ Top tracks: I Know The End, Chinese Satellite, Garden Song

This album makes me feel some shit. Like holy hell we are in our feels. Phoebe’s songwriting is superb and these songs just hit. I honestly only listen to this album when I really need to get in touch with myself because it literally doesn’t allow me to avoid my feelings. But it’s pretty much perfection and I think it’s going to grow with me throughout the years. I just love it. I remember being blown away on my first listen, it’s just unbelievably good.

↬ Ungodly Hour — Chloe and Halle

⟶ Top tracks: Tipsy, Baby girl, Ungodly Hour

I don’t even know how to explain how good this album is. Like, have you heard it? You get it. These girls went the fuck off and all we can do is thank them for it. Thank you for your service ladies. This album is just a vibe from start to finish. And Ungodly Hour is one of the best title tracks of the year. That’s just that on that. Give them all the awards.

↬ IS ANYBODY OUT THERE? — DPR LIVE

⟶ Top tracks: OH GIRL, NO RESCUE NEEDED, KISS ME

This album isn’t just an album, it’s an experience. This man takes you on a musical journey. It’s a story. It’s flawless. I adore it. DPR LIVE is so underrated and I can’t wait for him to get the hype he deserves. This was the most surprising find this year and I’m so thankful I found it. Just so god. From start to finish, you just get sucked in and then it ends and you’re just left like, whoah. Amazing.

my favorite song: "sleeping in"!!!! one of top 10-15 songs to dance to when i'm alone :))) but also "monsters", "january gloom", & "melancholy kaleidoscope" are all close behind

my least favorite song: don't take this the wrong way (or maybe do) but "favorite place" sounds very christian rock to me for some reason, and specifically the kind i can't stand so. sorry to atl for slandering them like that (but i won't take it back).

a song I didn’t like at first, but now do: well before relistening for this ask, i didn't have "safe" and "clumsy" liked and now i do (and i def listened to this whole album multiple times so it's not like i hadn't listened to them) so! also i think it took me a bit to warm to "pretty venom" (i have a love-hate relationship with interludes)

a song I used to like, but now don’t: it's not because i no longer like it, but i've stopped looping "january gloom" as much (there was a period of time where i looped it a not insignificant amount lol) i still love it! i've just been looping other things lately (and am also, like, in a better place lol)

overall rating out of 10: hmm i think 7-7.5/10 bc on one hand i don't like all the songs, but on the other hand most of them are excellent and there are several ones that are top tier kind of excellent, plus it's pretty coherent as an album so,,, it's a hard one to place

Yeah. It’s been a...well, 2020. But it is now officially a new month and year, and time for a Coming Attractions post!

The big news, obviously, is that I actually finished Precipice. \o/ ...well, the first seven arcs, anyway.

As I’ve discussed before, and explained in my very long author’s note at the end of the final chapter on Ao3, the next steps for this AU are a series of seven one-shots which will be released as ‘Preludes,’ covering the six-year timegap before Arc Eight. These mostly deal with Rebels characters (although I’m slightly rethinking one of them because I should probably include Mara Jade in it...), as well as Sidious’ fifth apprentice and possibly Maul.

I’ll also be starting the sequel, entitled either Protectors or Promises (it’s been Protectors for a while, but now I’m waffling? IDK). Anyway, that picks up with arc Eight, Escalation, six years after the end of Precipice. I’ll probably post a preview snippet sometime this month because Why Not.

There will be a hiatus (an actually Planned one this time, lol...). I’m aiming to start posting in April, but we’ll see how things go.

I totally planned to start posting that this year <.< On the plus side, I don’t...think the Siege of Mandalore arc (or the stuff from the Mandalorian) really Jossed anything I had planned? Especially given the fact that it’s set from 5 years pre-TPM (I recognize that Lucasfilm has made a timeline decision but given that it’s a stupid-ass timeline decision I have elected to ignore it) to about 5 years post-TPM, so I wasn’t really expecting it to, but it was a vague concern of mine. Anyway, I’ll rewatch to be sure before I post, probably. But, yeah, I’m all the more excited about my girl Bo-Katan now, so hopefully I’ll get some momentum on this.

2021 SWBB:

I finally figured out a general shape of the plot, lol! And I have about...just under 4k of miscellaneous text in this AU (like, actual Story text, not just random notes and scribbles of which I have. A Lot). I need to get another 2k by Sunday, but that shouldn’t be a problem.

It’s going to be in four parts, plus prelude/interludes/coda, because that is the Structure that my brain at like 4AM gave me the other night, lol. While I don’t know the details, I have a general idea of What Happen in parts one, three, and four; except for tying in some Mandalore stuff and making some Decisions about who I want to draw in at various points. Part Two is also up in the air. I know how it needs to end to set up part three, but not so sure about what should actually go in there. Possibly I’ll end up cutting Part Two and just having a three-part story, but eh, we’ll see.

Anyway, I’m having fun with this, especially since I’ve discovered the Plot, so we’ll see how things go from here :)

Other SW Fanfics:

I am...hoping??? to resurrect Distaff and/or the Ventress outline at some point this year, because I’m very fond of those AUs and they deserve some more love. Possibly also another Devoted story. We shall see.

AtLA Fanfic Projects:

As I’ve mentioned a few times over the past few months, I’ve fallen back into this fandom (which was my primary fandom for...like...four to six years????) And I definitely want to write more in it. I’ve already done one AU outline, and I have plans for a couple fulltext fics (...discounting the super-self-indulgent crossover stuff I don’t super plan on sharing outside a very small circle lol). I don’t have much actual, uh, Text on anything yet, but I’m hoping to start posting one or more of those at some point this year, too.

Project One is an Avatar Zuko AU; Aang is around for reasons that do get explained in story; Zuko finds out a couple months before the duel with his father when accidental water or airbending happens (he’s in a sailboat, there’s a storm, I haven’t worked out the details yet). He decides That Clearly Didn’t Happen and proceeds to ignore it...until he manages to accidentally waterbend again when in the infirmary post-duel. At which point he decides he Does Not want to be just...used as a weapon. He figures he has about three and a half years before the comet, he can use that time to figure out what to do next; maybe come back with the comet and Prove his Worth at that point.

He goes to the WAT first, to see what he can figure out about airbending from any texts/mosaics/whatever that are still there; then he heads to the NWT; then he’ll probably pick up Toph because I love their dynamic. He plans to spend a year on each other element (not enough time for mastery but that comet deadline looms large). Obviously, over the course of those three years, his plans change.

And then things get thrown even more off the rails when Aang emerges from the iceberg before Zuko’s year of earthbending is up.

There will be a fair number of OCs hanging around (both to give him someone to talk to at the WAT and I think he’s going to learn from a less-prominent master than Pakku when he gets to the NWT), as well as Iroh trying to find his nephew, and various other familiar faces from the show.

Project Two is about Lu Ten, and a lover he had during the Siege of Ba Sing Se, and what happens to her (and her daughter) after his death. I’ve talked about that one in a little more detail in other posts, I think, hence the comparatively short summary, lol.

Original Stuff:

I am hoping to get more origfic posted this year than I did last year. I’ve got these universes I love exploring, and I feel like they should get more attention, lol.

...I think that about covers it! At the end of last year, I set myself some Goals, which were. Well. 2020 happened, soooo...

Anyway, because I am an Optimist, I’m going to set goals again for this year. And I guess go over how well I did on the ones I had??? A lot of my goals will probably be repeats from last year, because...yeah.

2020 Goals

1. Finish Precipice; complete Arcs 8 and 9 in Protectors/Promises/Precipice II; put out some level of Arc 7.5/Preludes content.           I did finish Precipice! I did not do the other things. 2. Write at least 10k of origfic content.           Not quite--I ended up with 8,129 words. 3. Start posting OFLAM           Nope, that did not happen. 4. Revive a semi-hiatused fic (i.e., Distaff; Auxiliaries; Phoenix!Verse; one of the BSG fics I keep meaning to go back to if I ever actually sit down and rewatch the series; if I add an actual sequel/companion to Deja Vu… that probably counts…)           Did not happen. 5. Finish updating Lux and Farglass Cycle archives; keep them updated through the end of the year as new content gets added.           Nope. 6. At least four AU outline installments of some kind; preferably including a continuation of Ventress and Her Tiny Time-Travelling Conscience and actually writing up the main part of Let’s Go Steal a Crossover; but any outline will count.           I did put up one AtLA outline, as mentioned before; and I also posted a massive timeline for the Jedi of Valdemar AU, but nothing else. 7. Complete BB submission and keep an eye out for other challenges/exchanges.           Did complete BB, and one giftfic exchange over the summer. 8. Write at least one holiday fic (Valentine’s Day; Mother’s Day; Father’s Day; Halloween; New Year’s; etc.) and post on the appropriate day.           Did not do the thing.

Trivia Tuesday: Some Notes on Full Spectrum

I’m not sure if I’ll return to this story anytime soon, so I thought I’d share a little about what I wish I had done differently, and what I might do if I ever continue it.

First of all, I have to confess that I basically winged it when it came to the plot. The novel on which I based the story has an incredibly elaborate universe, so I needed to figure out how to condense that. Plus, the novel was meant to be the first in a trilogy, but the latter two books have never been published, so I had to make up or gloss over a few things as I went along. Regardless, I knew I wanted seven chapters (seven colours, Seven Kingdoms etc.), so I started off with the chapter titles using idioms/sayings that fit those seven colours. 

The first chapter I wrote was Chapter 4: The Grass is Always Greener (i.e. Jaime and Brienne banging in the meadows of Tarth while tripping on colour), then Chapters 1–3 after that, all while praying that the solution for Chapters 5–7 would just magically come to me. At the end of July my outline for Chapter 7 was still: LOL IDK THEY'VE FALLEN IN LOVE IN A DYSTOPIA NOW WHAT?! So there are a ton of things that I would have changed or included if I had… you know, actually planned everything properly beforehand.

Anyway, some hopes, regrets, questions, and headcanons after the cut:

What I would write assuming the current version stays as it is:

Ideally – though I seriously doubt my abilities to pull this off given the amount of anxiety I experienced regarding all the plot conundrums in this story – I would love to write a trilogy of seven-chapter stories. Seeing as the first focuses on uncovering the conspiracies, the second would involve more political manoeuvring culminating in some sort of revolution, and the third might be… post-apocalyptic? Maybe? Or at least taking place in a kind of unstable version of the new social order.

The second act would also involve a Stoneheart plot, once they make contact with the resistance. This would explore how the Starks’ Purple perception was taken away, and what they know about the Wildfire Protocol.

Along those lines, I’d probably need to figure out J and B’s relationship arcs for the second and third acts. I suppose the most straightforward would be to have her pregnant for the second part, and there’s a time jump in the third part so they already have at least one kid.

I am toying with the idea of writing that epistolary interlude I mentioned at the end of the story. The fic would be entirely composed of sexy letters between Jaime and Brienne while she’s on Tarth (perhaps she’s stuck there for a month or two), but Jaime reveals some of what’s happening with the Council and she discusses what she’s found out from the Stark girls. I was even thinking of hiding the sensitive information in the sexy stuff – code, invisible ink, something like that – so each letter between them might actually have a second letter embedded in it.

I really love the idea of the Wildfire swatch being ‘planted’ all over King’s Landing, not to “burn them all”, but rather as a mass exposure of everyone to the Wildfire Protocol and the ability to see in natural colour. I don’t know how this could be done safely, given the addictive qualities of colour and the general chaos this would cause, but I like the subversion of canon!Wildfire. It might be the grand gesture to trigger a revolution.

*sigh* I might have to write about Shae betraying them. It’s why I tried to be careful to mention that there is hardly any way for her to know that the Stark girls are the Stark girls (it’s not like she can see Sansa’s red hair anyway), even though they stayed at her house for a couple of nights. It’s just so I could keep them protected if I have to.

Now, here’s some parallels with canon that I would make space for if I overhauled the story and turned it into a longfic:

I’d find a way to do Enemies to Lovers instead of Strangers to Lovers. My fics tend to work with the latter, so I’d want to challenge myself in that way. It’ll give me more time to develop the characters and the world as well. In that vein:

I would want to figure out a way for Jaime to be known as the Kingslayer or some equivalent, which would establish animosity between him and Brienne from the get-go. Also:

I would actually write in some form of twincest, though this would likely have ended by the time Cersei marries Robert. The idea of Jaime and Cersei having the exact same Purple perception and seeing the world in the same way (and differently from everyone else) is really ripe for exploring their dynamic and how it became toxic. It’s possible that this dynamic never became (fully) sexual, given the fact that the Colour Perception Test can also function as a kind of rough paternity test, but I think it would make for some great dialogue between Jaime and Brienne as he confronts that past. (I really wanted to write this back when I was planning for this story to switch between Brienne’s POV and Jaime’s, but it became clear that I wouldn’t be able to resolve this comfortably in seven chapters, since I prefer to give the characters time to process.)

By extension, I’m thinking about what it means to “see the world with the same eyes” – and how in canon, Cersei and Brienne are meant to be mirrors of Jaime in vastly different ways. There’s a lot to mine there in terms of Colour Perception (the vision one is born with) vs. World View (the values one cultivates). There’s also some space here for thinking about beauty as being seen vs. the act of looking.

JAIME’S GODDAMN HAND. I never explained how he lost his fingers because… I don’t know. I assume in some kind of accident during one of his scrap colour expeditions. But since its loss is so symbolic in canon, I would want to find a proper parallel for this. Perhaps he loses an eye instead?

And here’s elements from the original novel (Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde) that I would expand upon:

I’d need to better explain the Chromatic Hierarchy and how it works within the context of a feudal system. Or at least have it make more sense in my head. In the original novel, I think it was intentionally meant to be rotational in some way so certain families couldn’t centralise power for more than a few generations, but perhaps I’ll need to tweak it further to make it fit Westeros.

The original novel had a ‘central government’ called National Colour, which I replaced with the Ultraviolet Council without really having a clue how that might work. Are they a fully functioning government with a civil service? How does that work with a pseudo-feudal system – local/state and central/federal governments?

I might also want to expand on the merit system, which has much higher stakes in the original novel – if you lose enough merits, you’re sent to Reboot (thus far unexplained in the source material). It’s a means of regulating behaviour that I chose to push to the background, but I think there’s potential here for Brienne to lose faith in a ‘moral code’. Reboot could also be the official story for why the Starks were pushed out, rather than relying on the ‘diluted Purple’ narrative.

On that note, I should probably delve a bit more into how scrap colour works, and the whole economy surrounding it. In the original novel, it’s implied that scrap is basically artificially-coloured relics/trash from the past world (our world).

Oh glob, what have I gotten myself into? Just some long updates lol XD

Well, the year’s almost over, and it’s already the second half. The first half was too much and to be honest, I had to swim with the circumstances I am in right now so I had to put this passion non-profit project on hold, like seriously. But I did started translating the first few pages as early as December last year, as my very nice benefactor actually sent me the rest of the entire set of the Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi series after sending off the first 4 volumes. Probably read the entire thing first. But hey, free stuff is free so why complain. Plus my benefactor actually got the entire set for a steal, won’t say how much but in Amazon Japan, the last time I checked the whole set is roughly around $150 or a bit around that. and that’s just the first 7 volumes. Probably there’s an entire set now that’s about $200, as the final volume was released around August 2019.

Spoiler alert: the entire light novel series is made up of 10 volumes, so if you read it, the afterword by Yuuma-sensei specifically says that volume 10 is the final one, and Yuuma-sensei feels sad about it.

Yeah I highlighted that part in red, just in case many Kakuriyo fans still have some extreme hunger pangs or are unsure whether the novel series has ended. Here you go, straight from the horse’s mouth. Yuuma-sensei also has another Ayakashi light novel series, 浅草鬼嫁日記, roughly-translated to “Asakusa Wife from Hell Diaries”. Seems fun, they’re literally ogres - Oni living in the real world, like a reverse Kakuriyo thing. Who knows, maybe someday I can score that series too lol. The writer really likes Ayakashi, if it’s not that obvious yet 草 草 草 草  yeah I write kusa lol oml I should stop... But returning to the Kakuriyo series.. I won’t spoil what happened lol but I will probably make a commentary on that once I get the translations up and running.

Which leads me to my next announcement:

I PLAN TO UPLOAD THE DIRECT TRANSLATIONS OF JUST THE INTERMISSIONS/INTERLUDES ( 幕間 ) AND THE AFTERWORDS (あとがき) OF EACH VOLUME.

Chapter 5 is the only complete and full English Translation that I will be uploading here, and the rest will be summarized versions of the chapters plus my translation notes and commentaries.

Bummer, right?

Well, to be honest, after starting my initial translations I ran into several issues which made me feel sucker-punched and added to the stuff I’m worried about:

Issues regarding plagiarism (either my stuff getting plagiarized or potentially being accused of it)

Translating everything actually takes too long, even for me (I’ll explain that later)

More serious issues like possible DMCA-ish complaints (won’t want my hardwork just getting flagged and killed)

Personal stuff piling up and affecting my momentum

To be honest, when I received the books, I was so excited to work with them and upload as much as I can. But lots of things happened one after another, plus the worldwide issue that we have right now, so doing fun stuff wasn’t at the front of my priorities. So at the moment, I am mostly offline, by necessity, like connection is slower and with data cap, so I mostly do my translations with whatever hardcopies of dictionaries that I have on hand, offline. It’s good and all since I can put my skills to the test, but it can be expected that not all of the words are available in the books so I still have to hook on Jisho just to find the missing words I need. So my stuff pretty much looks like this:

I could just take pictures of these and upload them here but the maximum number of pics that tumblr allows is 15, and good glob I have more than 15 pages of translated material. Plus, as you can see above, some parts are untranslated and I had to find them in Jisho once I get online, so right now I have about 50% word-processed with the raw parts cooked, and I only have 12 raw pages remaining to be cooked and hashed lol

Which leads me to my next issues: my slowness (yeah I have to surrender on my slowness) and my fears regarding plagiarism.

I actually only started doing these translations in full blast around 2 months ago, and eventually I had to slow down so I won’t get bogged down since I also do other stuff. But I found out that ploughing through it can get quite draining. I started thinking that fan-subbing and scanlating were easier because aside from working digitally, these were also mostly done in teams so work time gets cut. Well, those were the days lol But for this one, aside from flying solo, I had to use all of my offline resources a lot, like doing everything by hand. It finally broke me about half-way and I had to step away from it, like reaaaaally step away from it. I thought I could finish 50+ pages in a span of a week. Well, I wasn’t exactly wrong there, but I also had other stuff to do, and if I just read it like I would any book without having to do anything, it’s a done deal. But having to translate stuff was draining, I felt frustrated so it broke me. I have to write each page by hand, leave out the words I can’t find or don’t know, and move on to the next page until my body stops working. Rinse and repeat until I could finish about 10 pages and get on with the typesetting and completing the missing parts. That takes a while so I just do my best to be patient.

Then the thoughts of plagiarism popped in and out, like I started thinking how to ensure that my stuff doesn’t get stolen and reposted elsewhere, or worse, getting my site shut down because fan translations are ambiguously illegal, like fansubs and scanlations, and I think those were what got me the most, so I just gave up midway. I’d say ambiguously illegal because if a series or title wasn’t licensed elsewhere then translating it is a fair game. But if it’s already released as a translated version by publishers, then releasing a translated version is like labelled as stealing, even if it’s non-profit. Of course profiteering is the worst, some steal what others work hard for, that they did for free, and sell them off. Scumbags to the bone smh I do my best to be within the fair use thing since I understand how much effort is made in creating content, so at present I have just decided to just put up the intermissions and the afterwords because aside from these being only a few pages long, it’s less likely to get whacked. Plus it’s easier for my psyche to just sum up each chapter and add some comments on it so it won’t be taken down, plus I wont’ be too-attached so even if some nutjobs repost it elsewhere because some people are just unempathetic like that, at least I won’t be as resentful. Plus the afterwords are just so cute, Yuuma-sensei gives off an adorable and relatable vibe, so I feel like aside from just showing off her stories, I think she needs to get signal-boosted too, so people would have an idea on who wrote this hunger-inducing light novel series lol.  I only started to pick up the whole thing again about a week ago, and I still wasn’t fast but at least I got to add at least 20 more pages translated, plus I started to type the first pages and add the missing words so at the very least, I felt some sort of achievement. It gave me some hope, and to be honest I have been doing this to maintain my sanity even for just a bit, so I guess I will do my best to bring Yuuma-sensei’s work out into the world. It’s a really good series, and it got animated into 2 seasons, plus the manga’s out, so that says a lot on how the series caught on. It can’t be denied that it’s a really engrossing series, so I don’t see any reason why this really good series should remain hidden. It probably has a lot of fans but aren’t being too attached into it because of language barriers, and even in my own way, I would like to bridge that gap. I mean, I may have slow internet that can only open mails in basic html but hey, this is the least I could do for the fandom. It’s not like I spew out doujin stuff or anything lol

Please don’t expect any fast uploads lol it’s not like I do ctrl+A into Google translate and slap it in here. Nothing against doing that but.. uhm, sometimes AI don’t get the nuances translated, and a lot gets lost in translation, so at best, anything done by some trash enthusiast, even noobs can still have some oomph in it that soulless beings can’t even top off. But hey, that’s just my opinion lol

So yeah, there you have it, a long update. Oh, and I changed the name of this blog because I have other raw stuff that I may be able to put here without any fear of being taken down because they’re in the public domain, so they’re all fair game since I don’t get any profit from them anyway and others may also appreciate them too. Hint: One is a series of Japanese classic  fantasy short stories, the other one is a set of instructional manuals on how to write kana and kanji in ballpen and brushpens. They’re a bit lighter so once I get Chapter 5 up I’ll do them as soon as I get rested.
