The WEIRDEST enjoyment I’ve ever had! Have you ever been to a beach full of clay? If no, then I highly suggest that you drop what you’re doing, chuck on some old clothes, and go find one NOW! Full disclosure: I must admit that the other adults around us thought we were barking mad, but we didn’t care. The sensation of clay squelching between your toes is one that takes a while to get used to, I cannot lie. I found myself shouting ‘this is so gross!’ While continuing to walk in deeper. The children on the other hand were rubbing it on their bodies like some kind of feral tribe! As weird as it sounds, it was so fun! We spent hours messing around in the clay, looking at the bird footprints in the clay, finding particularly deep bits, and laughing at each other... all whilst trying not to fall over. What topped it off for me was when we were about to leave, and the children ran off ahead towards the car. Some passers by looked at us in horror, and asked ‘are they your kids?’. I confirmed that indeed they were, and was met by their horrified reply ‘we worried what their parents were going to say, but now we know you’re just as bad!’. I chuckled my way back to the car 🤣 Note for the brave among you who want to try this: bring towels. We didn’t. And the car paid a high price. But, it all cleaned up. We all washed ourselves and the mud was forgotten. But what won’t be forgotten is the experience! And did I mention, it was FREE?! Oh, and our feet were insanely soft after too! “Since being home with my daughter during this pandemic quarantine, we have been spending ALOT of time together! I’ve been able to do an entire deep clean, start some new and even finish some old crafting projects! I’ve rearranged our whole house and purged a lot of needless things, and old clothes, but my biggest accomplishment thus far has been my vanity.... and she is OBSESSED with it! As am I. Needless to say, it’s a struggle to remind myself sometimes that she is in fact just under 4 years old! So, I caved and it was hard but now every night we do a little makeup before bed and I have given her an organizer from work. She spent over an hour arranging and rearranging my liquid eyeliners, highlighters and compacts. I said “You’re doing so great! How did you learn to organize so well!?” She replied with “I watched you do your work pictures.” And I sat there. Stunned. I do product photography from home occasionally, and edit the images on photoshop often but I never stopped to think for a second she was paying attention to what I was actually doing. I mean, why would I?! Between Barbies, Princesses, and Baby Alive dolls who has the time for paying attention?! Not me! So I wanted to take a moment to share this minuscule yet beautiful moment in my life. This photo wasn’t taken for Polar Whale. But it just happened. So here I am.
