“I’m going to miss you so much.” She whispered sadly.
“We’ll see each other soon.” Zuko said firmly, though he was blinking back his own tears. “I’m not ready to give up on us.”
“Me either. I just wish this wasn’t goodbye.”
Zuko swallowed the growing lump in his throat.
“There’s a legend about a soul string tying loved ones together. No matter where they are, they’ll always be connected.” He said hoarsely.

3. Describe your wip badly
6. What kind of readers would be fans of this wip?
11. Any characters you had to cut?
27. Look for three images which best showcase the overall aesthetic for your WIP
Feel like answering any of those? For whichever wip you like but if you'd like me to pick, then I'm always interested in the pirate/mermaid au of course :)
Thank you sm! (I still have your other message here I will read it later I promise T_T)
Okayy! I'll do it for the Mermaid AU because that's the one I feel like I can say the most on...
3. Describe your wip badly
local traumatised woman who attempted suicide but was saved by a mermaid (said woman's type is scaled women) acquires a ship and gathers a crew while her mermaid shape-shifting gf learns how to live in a human world. Mermaid is also autistic as fuck. Trauma to come... <3
6. What kind of readers would be fans of this wip?
Fairytale loving, traumatised people who are suckers for human/nonhuman romances, I think?
11. Any characters you had to cut?
Not so far, I really do hope I'll be able to fit in all the other cameos in chapter 3 and 4. I actually ADDED Thasmin, I think I only had Yaz in a much smaller role at first! Might have to cut Osgood, not sure. I really want DaughterJenny, Lorna, Ada; and obviously Strax in it.
27. Look for three images which best showcase the overall aesthetic for your WIP

And because I'm a cheat and I can't find any human/lizard wlw kisses...

I hope you like that!! Currently a bit busy with aaaah, too many other WIPs, but I hope to post a new chapter of Turn Loose the Mermaids in January!
This was great fun! Thank uuuu

Happy birthday @oxiosa! Have some mertinho from our AU (that anyone can read here - great timing with that post oxi)
I wanted to make the scene they first arrive at the little island because i know you like luciano carrying looong tinho almost as much as i do.... but then THE COLORS TURNED TOO FUCKIN BRIGHT so i tried to change it to the rescue in the storm but it doesn't feel half as dramatic as it should be (and lucianos hair is dRY ) so all i can say for myself is that there was AN ATTEMPT

Finally got around to writing more for the SpaDen pirate/mermaid au I came up with last year for the HWSrarepair2022 event. I love theese two together and the dynamic of them having to learn to communicate is something I really enjoyed trying to nail down.

with the help of @disaster-fruit and @brazilian-hot-mess
Luciano Da Silva is a pirate, the son of a mighty and fear Pirate Captain.
Luciano’s mother’s crew attacks some merchant ship they heard was carrying highly valuable goods which turn out to be a merman. It was not the bounty they were expecting, but selling this exotic creature guarantees a nice bulk of gold.
Their catch is feisty and less than thrilled to be on board, hissing and trashing with the promise of biting the face of whoever is foolish enough to get too close. But here’s the thing; he’s also hurt, badly so. He’s got burns from the net’s ropes he violently trashed against, half of his tail fin is torn to shreds, and he’s got a bloody harpoon wound on the side of his tail.
Lucian is the ship’s appointed physician, and as such it is his job to treat the creatures wounds and make sure he doesn’t die on their ship. The creature doesn’t make his job any easy: he snarls and growls whenever Luciano tries to approach him. He refuses his help and the food and water he brings.
With no food or medical treatment, the merman’s health deteriorates quickly and he grows weaker as days go by. An infection takes over the wound and the creature becomes sick, too weak to fight their captors anymore. Luciano can finally approach him, but by then he is in critical state. Only a miracle would save him. The Pirate Captain assesses the situation and decides that there is no guarantee her son will manage to save the merman. Trying would be a waste of their medical resources, nothing very valuable to dispose on a lost cause. A half-dead exotic creature remains a nice profit, so she decides to sell him on the next port as he is. She was expecting to make some juicy deal out of this rare catch, but the dumb thing got sick and isn’t worth as much as it would have if healthy. They will pay far less for it, but at least she is getting some profit out of it. She can sell it at lower price to the first person she finds willing to pay for it.
Luciano insists he can save the merman. Now that he can get close to the creature, he can properly treated him. He can do it, he’s got the knowledge and the skill if his mother would let him prove it to her. But the Pirate Captain won’t hear of it.
This fills Luciano with anger. His mother doesn’t think he can save the creature even though he says he can, even though she was the one who forced him to become the physician. This is nothing new; she has always looked down on him. She has never considered him a pirate, it is the reason she gave up on his Captain training so many years ago. She never believed in his potential, she didn’t see in him the skill needed for great things. She doesn’t trust his skill, she never has. She just keeps disregarding him and treating him like some silly child and he’s done.
This is his chance to prove everyone wrong; he decides he won’t let her mother sell the merman, he’ll do it himself and for the full price.
So lies. When the Pirate Captain asks him about the creature, he tells her it is already too late; the creature died and he has already disposed of the body. The Pirate Captain is angry that Luciano took this decision without consulting with her and made her lose a profitable deal. She just throws his “incompetence” on his face and how he doesn’t know how pirating works. Luciano listens silently, and her words sink in as fuel to his motivation. He’ll show her he’s way more capable than she has ever given him credit for. He will succeeded where she failed.
Luciano takes the merman away and heals it in secret. It’s hard work but as days go by the creature grows stronger and eventually wakes up. During the first days, the merman seemed ready to rip his head off – Luciano would be worried, if the creature wasn’t so weak and feeble to pose any real threat.
As days go by, the creature grows stronger and less hostile. He eyes Luciano with distrust, but he doesn’t show signs of aggression and stops refusing his help. It’s pointless to put up a fight anyways after Luciano healed him while he was unconscious and at death’s door. He’s not the friendliest but he lets Luciano close, he even accepts the food and water Luciano brings.
Luciano comes every night and as he works, he just talks. He’s not good with silences so he fills them, rambles without reservations. He just goes on confessing very private thoughts and fears and also comments how handsome and pretty he thinks the merman is. He bares himself in front of him – little does he know the creature might remain silent but he understands everything he says. It is during this quiet moment between them that Luciano starts to have a change of heart. He wonders if he really needs to do all of this, if bringing this creature back to health isn’t prove enough of his competence. He starts to wish there was another way, that this poor creature didn’t have to end up being sold to the highest bidder.
The creatures heals just enough to be out of death’s door. He regains most of the weight he lost, colour returns to his face and his dull falling scales regain their brightness, but he’s still far from his prime. The wounds will take some time to heal.
The crew catches them before the creature can make a full recovery and Luciano can execute his plan. The Pirate Captain is angry that Luciano lied and kept this from her - she is disappointed at him and considers him weak for falling to the merman’s charms. Furthermore, the crew is furious at Luciano for “stealing” from them and they see it as their Captain’s fault. It’s her child, her failure. Even if she promises Luciano will be punished, they all know it will never be with the harshness the crime entails. They demand that Luciano’s punishment is decided collectively by the crew, who won’t go easy on him for his transgression.
The Pirate Captain knows the sort of punishment that awaits her son, and she can’t sit back and let harm come Luciano’s way. He is her son, and despite everything she loves him. She decides she can’t have Luciano in her ship anymore; it’s not safe or fair, not after he messed up. So she makes some arrangements to get him out of her ship. She’s got a close friend who’ll take him in. She knows Luciano will be better away from a pirate ship anyways. He is not suited for this life. So she sends her son and the creature to the ship of a certain Miss Kirkland.
Miss Kirkland is a wealthy explorer, a woman of science in an expedition, and she agreed to help the son of a very dear friend. She takes Luciano and the creature in, not as prisoners but as guests - at least one of them.
It is a better destiny than Luciano expected; the crew is nice and honest, the ship is clean and well cared for, and it’s a very nice change of pace from the lousy pirate ship Luciano grew up in.  This new life aboard Miss Kirkland’s boat presents him to a new kind of life, calmer, less risky, not yet what he needs but what helps him see he could live in a different way. His mother’s words about him not being suited for pirate life start to make sense – not as in insult, but as a truth to embrace. Maybe he can do better than that. Maybe he deserves better than that.
Miss Kirkland welcomes Luciano and offers him all the supplies he needs to keep treating the merman’s wounds. Luciano continues to care for the creature, but as days go by he realizes he has lost his initial motivation: he failed, didn’t he? He didn’t save the merman in time and he wasn’t able to sell it, he proved nothing in the end, now he’s banished and might never be a pirate again. But he’s still taking care of the merman, and why? Why does he still look after him? He realizes it’s just because he cares, because he no longer sees him just as some thing to be exploit. He has grown to learn the merman is no mindless beast. Luciano has seen him frown, smirk, huff and roll his eyes - he has even heard him laugh. Luciano is not sure the extent of his intellect, but he is sure the creature understands him. Or most of the things he says, he can tell by the way he listens and pays attention and how he reacts to certain things that are being said. The creature shows a sweet and charming side, and if Luciano already had some doubts about the creature’s humanity, this settles its.
Days go by, and Luciano starts to have an unsettling feeling he can’t quite put his finger on. There is something quite not right about Miss Kirkland. She seems a little too interested in the merman, which only makes him very nervous around her.
Her curiosity starts innocent enough; she stops by every morning and asks about the creature’s health. She collects scales and claws and asks question Luciano doesn’t have the answer - what does it eat? How much does it weight? How old is it? Was it captured in the north or south? As the creature gets better, Miss Kirkland’s testing gets more invasive. She asks for blood samples which Luciano needs to collect for her since the merman won’t let anyone else close (and it was so hard to make this wild creature understand Luciano was puncturing him and drawing blood out of him but meant no harm, to have him trust him and allow it). Annoying but harmless, a reasonable price to pay for the inconvenience of their stay on her ship.
One visit, Miss Kirkland casually drops she can’t wait to get more conclusive tests. Luciano gives her a tense smile and asks what she means. She confides she is looking forward to get to mainland so she might get the tools for proper operation. She reveals this is the deal she struck with Luciano’s mother; Miss Kirkland agreed to take Luciano in in exchange of keeping the merman to study as payment.
She reveals their deal to Luciano expecting his help and imagining he might be interested in researching the creature. She is pretty straight forward about her intentions, she has no qualms about telling him how much more invasive and aggressive her tests are going to get from now on and that she will eventually vivisect the merman in the name of science. She even expects Luciano to help keep the creature alive through the torturous process of her testing. The dumb creature only trusts him and he has done an excellent job keeping it alive after all.
Luciano listens horrified. By now, he’s become attached to the merman; he knows he is smart and as much of a person as anyone else. He is a smart sensitive creature that doesn’t deserve to be subjected to tests. What Miss Kirkland plans to do is monstrous.
She lays out her plan in detail in front of the merman. She starts to rant in detail right in front of him, who stares frozen in shock very much like a deer caught in the highlights before he turns to Luciano with alarmed urgent eyes. Luciano knows he understands exactly what awaits him and can do nothing about it, harmed and helpless at Miss Kirkland’s mercy. Luciano ignores those big despaired eyes and tries to get his act together; he smiles amiably and agrees to help Miss Kirkland.
Miss Kirkland leaves, pleased with his answer – then the merman starts to hyperventilate, struggling to breathe and keep the raw panic at bay. Luciano immediately rushes to his side - unwise, the creature is scared and dangerous and could lash out and seriously injure him -, but he doesn’t. He looks at him with hurt betrayed eyes, for Luciano just agreed to hurt him, but he lets Luciano cradle his face between his hands (the closest they have ever been) and clings back to him with unfocused pleading eyes as Luciano shows him how to calm his breathing. Once the merman isn’t choking on thin air anymore, Luciano promises him he won’t let that evil woman lay a finger on him. He’ll be safe as long as Luciano breathes, he has Luciano’s word. And the merman has no option but to believe him.
Luciano decides they no longer are safe on Miss Kirkland’s ship and thus develops an escape plan. It is simple, yet difficult to execute: he decides the only way to escape is by blowing up Miss Kirkland’s ship. It involves setting up a bomb strong enough to sink a ship, getting provision to a rowboat and moving a wounded merman. All in perfect timing and under Miss Kirkland and her crew’s radar.
They leave that very night. Luciano gathers whatever supplies he can and prepares a rowboat for his daring escape. He sets up a bomb in the ship and starts a fire as a distraction to have a window of escape before the ship explodes. It is his intention to free Martín and take a rowboat for himself - Martín is still hurt, yes, but the worst is behind and time will heal his wounds. Luciano has already done so much for him, and there is nothing Luciano can do for him once they abandon Miss Kirkland’s ship. Luciano has done enough, it is time he goes back home.
The sudden fire is enough to distract the crew and let the deck empty for Luciano to make his escape. However, Miss Kirkland confronts him as he is carrying Martín to the edge of the ship. She pulls out a gun and threatens Luciano. She tells him she is disappointed he is being unreasonable and breaking her mother’s deal, that she won’t let him escape with her property. Luciano answers saying how Miss Kirkland is no better than his mother. Her ship might be cleaner and her crew might be scholarly and polite, but they’re all just as cruel and greedy and misguided as any pirate. He says he wants nothing to do with any of them, not with his mother and her crew, not with Miss Kirkland and her men. It’s not worthy to be good at something terrible, he can only be happy and full when he lives his life in his own terms.
Miss Kirkland prepares her gun, ready to shot. Luciano’s got a handful of a merman between his hands and there is nothing he can do at gunpoint, but the merman in questions solves this for him. He doesn’t like Miss Kirkland very much and he does owe Luciano so much, so he sends her flying across the deck with a hit of his powerful tail, leaving her unconscious.
Luciano helps the merman to the ship’s railing and throws him to the sea. He expects to watch him swiftly swim away, and is shock to realize he struggles to swim. Luciano hadn’t consider the damage to his shredded tail would hinder him in the water, his natural habitat. Letting him go is dooming him to death, so Luciano makes a change of plans: the merman is coming with him. He jumps into the rowboat and swiftly lowers it into the ocean to fish the merman out of the water and into his little boat.
Luciano rows away into the night as Miss Kirkland’s ship explodes and sinks to the bottom of the ocean in flames.
The merman looks back at Miss Kirkland’s sinking ship, then back at Luciano. Luciano has just sunk a ship, abandoned an honest life of comfort and condemned himself just to save him. The merman opens his mouth and speaks for the first time: he questions why Luciano did that.
It is the quiet almost shy question that startles Luciano. After a second, he burst laughing claiming he’s glad he can talk. Here he thought he would go mad in their little boat, talking to himself.
And now our heroes have another obstacle, they are pretty much castaways. Luciano rows for days looking for land. Martín is a merman used to the hardship of the cruel wild ocean, but Luciano wasn’t built to survive in the sea. Not even his pirate days have prepared him for the hardships of the harsh sun and merciless ocean. He’s slowly growing weaker, his muscles are sore and they have run out of food and fresh water. Luciano is starving and dehydrating and things don’t look good for him. There is nothing Martín can do for him but keep him company in the day and cuddle for warmth in the night. All Martín can do is watch as Luciano slowly fades away and consumes himself trying to reach land.
They eventually reach an empty beach, just not too far from a small fisher town. Luciano drags them to shore and passes out, exhausted and consumed after days and days on their little rowboat. He needs help, the sort Martín can’t provide and only his kind can give. Martín will have to let him go if he wants to see him recover.
So Martín takes unconscious Luciano and drags him to town, where his people will find him. It’s hard work - Martín can barely move himself in the water, let alone take another person with him. He manages to throws Luciano on the rowboat and climb in to rows all the way to town, just like he saw Luciano do during all these days. It isn’t easy, but he manages to reach town and dumps Luciano on the beach, where he knows the townsfolk will find him. He then hides and waits, and he watches as some men rush to Luciano’s aid. They pick him up and take him to town, where they’ll save him - where Martín can’t follow.
Luciano wakes up in some strangers place a few days later and is nursed back to health. His hosts and the townsfolk are kind and give him a place to stay, they welcome him with open arms and it’s all Luciano could ever hoped for. But he can’t stop thinking about Martín. His journey feels a little like a fever dream, from the moment they dragged the wounded merman to his mother’s ship deck to the moment he sent Miss Kirkland’s ship into flames. But he knows it was real, that Martín is real. He knows he is to be thanked Luciano made it to town, and he is heartbroken Martín left without saying goodbye.
Once he has regained his strength and leaves bed rest behind, Luciano starts working for his host helping him fish to show his gratitude and also as payment for his stay at his place while he still figures out life. It is not long before he hears the rumours spread around by fishermen; there has been the sighting of some creature on the little island close to town. It is said a lonely mermaid has claimed the territory to itself. Fishermen know better than to search for trouble and have moved their fishing grounds away from the island, not wanting to provoke the creature. The man telling them the tale adds that he doesn’t think the poor thing will last long; those who have seen it claim it is wounded and there is quite a vicious storm brewing, the damned creature probably won’t survive it in its current state.
Luciano hears this entire tale with joy first and then with a horrible sense of thread. He has lived all of his life in a ship and knows the force of the raging ocean; if this creature roaming the little island is his Martín, he stands no chance against the sea. The wild currents will drag him away, push him down, and there is nothing Martin will be able to do with that shredded tail of his.
Luciano takes a rowboat and like some madman, he ventures into the sea as dark thundering clouds gather in the sky and the wind hauls menacingly. He reaches the little island as the storm breaks and rain starts pouring down and the waves rise dangerously over his head. Much to his relief he finds Martín right away; the island has a rocky bay and the merman has found shelter in a little nook in the rocks, curled around himself like some snake as he bears down each of the waves that reach and try to drag him. The sight of him makes Luciano’s heart shrink with relief and worry. He screams for him over the raging wind, throws him a rope and drags him into the rowboat. They don’t have much time for a heartfelt reunion; as soon as they manage to pull Martín into the boat, Luciano’s already trying to direct them to the little island’s beach.
Their little rowboat is turned over by a wave close to shore, so they swim the last stretch clinging to one another as Luciano drags Martín to safety. When his feet meet sand, Luciano picks Martín up and walks out of the ocean, tired and breathless but having beaten a storm. They manage to reach shelter in an abandoned little cabin by the beach’s edge. As the storm rages outside, Luciano starts a fire and sits by Martín’s side. They are safe, and once again together.
Luciano is confused on why Martín left him and Martín doesn’t understand why Luciano came back for him when he could’ve stayed with his kind. The answer seems obvious; they share their first kiss and make love as the storm rages outside.
Luciano claims the cabin to himself – he has no place to live after all. It’s a fixer upper, but he doesn’t mind the work. He has found a place where to live, something to do, and most important someone with whom to spend the rest of his days. He still goes to town often - it’s a small calm town, the people are warm and gentle and it’s the sort of life Luciano feels happy to be part of. He likes everyone and everyone likes him.
Luciano slowly realizes something he would never expect - he’s happy. He’s in peace, he enjoys his time, he has a person he loves and no duties or expectations. He didn’t even know this was a life he could choose, and how he wouldn’t trade it for anything. Luciano started this journey thinking he wanted to be a pirate of his own only to now realize he never wanted to be pirate but to be his own self. To have a simple, quiet, care-free life.
As for Martín, he still has a bit of journey ahead of him, and quite a hard one. Mermen are not made to live in dry land, but his shredded tail does not allow him much movement in the water. He needs to learn how to swim again with this new impediment.
Luciano helps however he can. He has to be patient, and it takes a while for him too to learn the best ways to support Martín through this - when he has to be sweet and caring, when he has to be inspirational and motivating, when he has to tease and challenge, but as he gets better at reading Martín’s mood he learns all of this as well.
They start slow. Martín needs to heal first, both physically and mentally. He needs to mourn and adapt to his new condition, he didn’t have much time to grief his accident back when he though he would die for sure.  But once he’s ready to go back into the water, Luciano picks him up and takes him back to the sea, to the very shallow part and they make their little sheltered bay their training grounds.
The two swim together and he helps him figure his limitations out. Martín is bound to be depressed and very frustrated with this process. Some days he won’t even want to get into the water, and Luciano lays with him and cuddles and kisses him and allows him to mourn. The days they do go to the water, he is patient and encouraging and also perhaps teasing and challenging to get Martín’s spirit up.
At first Martín can’t even swim, all he can do is float and shuffle and trash his tail in frustration. He has to settle for just being in the water in Luciano’s arms, letting him guide them as he slowly tries to figure out how to move in the water.
Eventually Luciano takes him a little deeper, where his feet can barely touch the sand. It’s a great improvement, at least for Martín’s mood. He’s frustrated that he can’t just swim wherever he wants, but it’s better than nothing. Here starts his attempts to actually swim, knowing Luciano is by his side were he to need him.
Martín eventually manages to learn how to move in the water, but he has lost all agility and speed. It is a lost it takes him some time to accept - he is not whole anymore, he is not the same he used to be. He’s used to the freedom of going anywhere he wishes, of dashing across the water like an arrow, of exploring the ocean as he pleases. Now he will have to accept he will have to stay in shallow calm waters for the rest of his days, unable to face the open blue.
But he’s alive and has someone who loves him and cares for him. He eventually learns to find comfort on that.
When Martín’s swimming improves, Luciano builds an underwater line system for him. He designs a net of rope trails that go all around their bay so Martín can grab and follow the way freedivers do. It’s not perfect; Martín still can’t just go wherever he wants, but at least he can move around on his own. It allows him to swim safely when Luciano isn’t around.
Their last challenge are open waters, the ones Martín cannot venture in his own. Martín joins Luciano when he rows deeper into the ocean to do his fishing. This last step involves throwing a line to the bottom of the ocean very much like an anchor for Martín to dive. They tie the end of a rope to the boat and the other to Martín’s wrists as safeguard; if anything happens, Martín can pull himself up back to the boat or use it to signal to Luciano that he might need help. It is enough for Martín to have space to do his thing and gets even a flimsy taste of freedom. It’s not much, but he gets to leave their little bay and feel less trapped.

How's it going with the newsies au and the pirate/siren au? What's been your favorite part of writing them? Any scenes you're looking forward to writing?
i was actually working on the newsies yesterday!! i've had a bit of a writer's block with the next chapter, mainly because i'm going outside of the show canon and adding in a whole new scene, but i really, really wanted to put in the bonding between the newsies, Misto, Hestia, and Jubilee that we talked about!!!
the newsies au is just so much fun to write, because there's so many different characters, and since i'm combining 92sies with broadwaysies, there's a lot more to take from!
for the pirate/siren AU, you know i love a good emotional/angsty scene, so i'm definitely looking forward to writing the reveal that the girls are sirens, and Tumble and Jerrie's reactions to them!

His Serenade˚⊱🪷⊰˚
Tw: mermaid breeding, threat, idk if leon keeping reader for himself count as kidnapping but idk, excuse my mermaid thingy explanation:3
Pirate!Leon × Mermaid!Reader
Word count: 2,569
(I used his romantic outfit since I couldn't finy anymore pirate-y but it suits this outfit for a pirate too!:])
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Captain!” The pirate member called, knocking to his office door as the one whom they call Captain stood and open the door, he cock a brow as they spoke: “we captured something big, will definitely be rich with gold!” they exclaimed and ran off to the net.
The Captain sigh, stepping out from his office as the sea breeze hit his face—the blonde captain turn his head to his crew and see what’s the fuss is all about, “what do we have here, fellas?” He asked. The heel of his boot clicking as he steps down the stairs and look over the net.
“Captain Leon.”
Leon Kennedy, their captain. Even though he did some good things in his pirate life but no one knew that he’s involved in the black market where he sells valuable ‘things’ he sees in the sea, you’d be lucky if he doesn’t want to share you with anyone else.
“I swear I did no harm!” voice squeak out, you were trapped in the net they set—it was only for luring other living things in the sea, but you; you are a mermaid, the most valuable thing and could cost up to millions and make them rich.
You were holding shiny things, silver spoon, gold plate, pearl necklaces and other things that catches your eye. As they say, mermaids like you have a knack for shiny and pretty things. Just like how when the captain they have called came to see the most precious thing they’ve caught came to see what’s happening. Your eyes shine like you have caught something more pretty and shiny, more than the accessories you have in your arms.
He has a pretty face, his eyes glows like the sea. You were mesmerized by his look as you felt breathless for a second.
His voice break your trail of thoughts as he snicker at the sight, “well, well. Didn’t think we’d get a fine maiden in a tight situation.” You hear most of his crew chuckle, probably a bad joke but you smiled at the man awkwardly and try you way of escape.
“W-Will you perhaps let me go?” you plead, the man name Leon, kneels in front of your vulnerable form, he saw your fin flinch as you curled your lower body and feel yourself shrinking under his cold gaze. He spoke, “what will benefit me and my crew once we let you go?” he scoff.
Racking your brains out, trying to find something to make them let you go. And as if on cue, a light bulb lights up in your mermaid brain, “I could find you lost relics and treasures deep within the ocean water.” You beam, Leon swears that your smile is part of the radiation of the sun. It was bright and he thought he had gone blind.
But his interest was piqued, he listens in and pulls the net up to your head to have it not block your face. “and, what kind of treasures are we talking about here, sweetheart?” he chuckles, snatching one of your shiny accessories from you and took a closer look of it.
“Pretty thing like you likes pretty and shiny little things huh.” He remarks, giving it back to you as you yelp and mutter a hush, “thank you.” His eyes still bore into yours, waiting for you to answer his question.
You start to stammer but eventually found your words, “I remember I saw a chest lying deep beneath the sand, the lock looks rusty and it could break easily when forced open.” You mutter, eyes glistening to let him know that you’re telling the truth, “you don’t know, probably a hundred or other things could be worth selling.” You try to tempt them to give in.
Leon turn his head and see his crew mumbling, piqued and tempted by the offer. “Are you true to your words? If not, we might do something worse.” You squeak at his threat and quickly nod, “I swear.” You swore, blinking your pretty lashes at the man—pleading to be let go.
The captain snap his fingers to his men and have you untangled and free from the net, “I’ll be giving you twenty-four hours to get us that so-called treasure, if not. We’ll have you sold to the black market.” Leon threatens, he picks you up and put you on the edge of the ship.
“See ya.”
He drops you off like you were nothing, back at the ocean as the things you collected were now forgotten—you got a new objective to finish, you don’t want to lose your fins and scales now, do you?
But first, you need to get home and show your presence to your father and sisters. They must’ve been worried sick that they couldn’t find you anywhere, “dear heavens! Where have you been?” mother asked, brushing a few strands of hair away from your face and angle your head to see any bruises or wound if you might’ve potentially hurt yourself.
You went to your sisters and father to let them know you’re safe and unharmed, “I told you not to go far from home.” You father sigh, stroking your hair as his eyes speaks with worry “I’m fine,” you mumbled as you assured, “are you sure?”
“Yes.”
He nodded and left, back to his throne—you guess. After assuring everyone and blessing them with your presence, you get back to work and ask some sea friends to help you lift the heavy chest. You know you still remember the path on the way there. It was a bit dark, but the way that the gold shines makes it easier for you to spot and tell your friends to take to the surface.
The ocean was wide as it sends waves, you turn to spot his ship and swim over there. “Knock, knock!” you yelled, knocking on the wood of the ship since it was stop to a halt, “c’mere.” You gesture to the dolphins as they help you lift the heavy treasure chest, “just as I promise!”
Leon look over and smiled at the sight, “lift her up.” You heard him yelled, little did you know—you swim right to their net. Your sea friends panicked and left you with the treasure, you can’t blame them as they don’t want to be harmed.
You let out a yelp, flopping over in the net as the treasure was lift with you. “You have one strong net, captain.” You praised, swaying your fin as the net was put down in the ship, he smiled and mutter to his crew and lift the chest to his office. He’s the one handling golds.
“so uh…” you start, “I did my part, kept my word and brought it back to you and it hasn’t been twenty-four hours yet…” you mumble, fidgeting your finger and your fin flops to the side of the net. The crew looked at each other funny but didn’t utter one word.
Silence was all the answer they could give you.
You look over the blue water of the ocean as the waves crashes, lost in your thoughts as you felt hands around your body—lifting you up like a bride, you shudder at his touch as you snap your eyes to him. It’s Leon, and he was walking towards to the door of his office.
“No,” he says firmly with a grin, his hold to your tail tightens, “I’ll be keeping you as my trophy.”

Living in his ship was not that bad, you thought. He put you inside his office, build a tub for you to swim in even though it’ll be cramped—his office is wide and a little too spacious for him so he didn’t object about constructing a tub inside his office for you to swim in.
Plus, it’ll be good for your scales. Don’t want the beauty to fade away because of the surface air.
Truth is, if you stay in the surface too long—the air will dry you up and make you look like a dehydrated fish and Leon doesn’t like that thought, he had a book in stored that came in pretty handy.
A book about the legends of Merfolk.
It has saved his ass and saved yours, building a tub inside was a dumb idea—thought by the crew but Leon doesn’t give two shits about it. As long as he could keep you to himself, that is all that matters to him, keeping you as his little valuable trophy mermaid.
You didn’t mind that the pretty man took you in though, his eyes shines like the blue sky and sea—how could you also say no to the face he has?
Father, Mother and your sisters would kill you if they knew that you left them for this ‘evil’ pirate that they so-called evil pirates that hunt their beings down so they could make profit or food.
Would it be twisted that you had to agree on that but had to object about the idea of Leon being an evil pirate?
The blonde Captain gives you whatever shiny pieces of trash that you desires and you store them at the bottom of your tub that you now call your second home.
In return, you give him your scales that’s been falling off. Shredding is what they say call it as you grew a new shiny one. Leon was intrigued and once wore it as a necklace to show his appreciation for the gift. It was a beautiful color and a vibrant fade on it. You were one beautiful mermaid, after all.
It once shocked Leon that most people wanted to buy his “jewelry” as they say it captivated their eyes and would pay a ridiculous amount of gold, he didn’t refuse the offer though and experimented what they’ll do with it. One merchant asked a stock or a jar of those scales.
Only fuels Leon’s idea.
You only lie low in your tub and flick your fin out of boredom and blew bubbles on the water, your eyes darted to the male who’s sitting in his chair—reading a book about Merfolks. Your hand scratches at the almost end of your fin as one scale fell off, “Leon!” you called, he never grew tired of that voice that sounds like melodies of a song.
“yes?” he put down his book and focus on you as you held your scale and stretch your hand to give it to him, “another one fell off..!” you beam. He reach out and took it in his hand, placed it in the jar with your other scales; he has been collecting them ever since, “I’m glad I can help you with profits.” You mumble, squishing your cheek to the wooden floor as you bow your head down.
He nodded and got down with you, soaking his clothes as he pulls you into his arms. His hand on the lower back of your waist, his face buried on the crook of your neck. “Just want you to know, you don’t have to force yourself to shred.” He mumbles, kissing your neck as you shudder at his affection.
It feels nice to be held in his arms once in a while, making you to take your mind off with your worries about your family in the ocean. You feel warm.
But this is bad, mermaid goes in heat every after three months and you’ve been craving—desperately wanting to breed, that is the reason why you have your own room and lock yourself in there until it calms down, or you calm yourself down.
You hear him groan with content, your back pressing against him real close. His hand travels down to your tail and feel every each of your pretty gradient scale, “so pretty for me.” You hear him mumble and bury himself to the crook of your neck, heat rising from your cheeks and ears—squirming to his touches.
“You know, I read something interesting…” he mumbles, kissing your skin and resting his chin on to your shoulder. Shifting his position, he got to his knee and push your body to the edge—bending you over, your fin tap his leg lightly as your body grew excited.
“I read that mermaid goes into heat after every three months.”
His statement made you embarrassed, you look away to avoid his gaze—he chuckle as he trail down to your hip and your tail, finding if there was an entrance to pry open. “Is that true, princess?” he asked, his fingers massaging where your rear is. Leon felt something off and move the scales aside that’s been covering something.
You felt his fingers enter you, gasping and tensing up at the stretch.
Leon chuckled and leaned back to look, “found it, I assume.” He pulls and plunge in slowly, making you mewl as your face was planted onto the floorboards and your lower body still in water. He could feel your gummy walls pulse around him, “you're so wet.” He coos and speed the pace of his fingers, you gasp—desperate for air as you whine at the stretch.
“You’re too tight for me, let me help you hm?” Leon coos, while he busy his fingers stretching and curling inside of you—he’s also taking some of your scales that’s been falling and tossing it to the side.
He found your sweet spot.
“oh my—!” you screamed, eyes widen as tears drops, feeling your orgasm when he pressed hard on to your sweet spot. “Can’t have you too loud, you’re gonna distract the guys.” You nodded at his words, twitching as he pulled out—belt buckling and zippers unzip, he positioned himself and slammed himself at ease with one thrust.
You screamed, your gummy walls clenching around him as he groans at the tightness, “fuck, that’s some mermaid pussy.” He hisses, pulling and plunging in—building his pace as he ravages you. Your moans loud and tears couldn’t stop from falling.
“please, I—” you cried, you sing so beautifully as the pirate fucks you to oblivion, “damn, you sing so fucking pretty for me.” His thrust becoming harsh and hard, the familiar warm sensation approaching. Eyes rolling back, Leon grip on to your hips, his fingers digging to your flesh as he chases his high.
Not long until he finally painted your insides white, “fuck!” he curses under his breath, fucking his orgasm inside and being sure to not spill a drop. He pulled out and see the masterpiece he created, your hole twitches as his seeds ooze out from you.
To his surprise, your scales move to finally cover up your used pussy. He laughs at the knowledge he just gained and help himself up, don’t worry—he didn’t forget you and your marvelous singing ability, your ocean friends and family probably heard you.
He stayed inside the tub with you, you snuggling close to him—clinging as if your life depends on it—he drew circles around your abdomen and pepper kisses to your temple.
“I wonder if it’s possible to have a mermaid pregnant with my child.”
“If it is, I want to carry yours and have a family together.”
He smiled and finally lets your rest.
Both of you slept on the tub, being in each others warm and embrace.
How lovely.

No one look at me this is SO SELF INDULGENT.
I was looking through mermay art and my brain went: leosagi but mermaid/pirate au GO GO GO!! And now we’re here.
Tiny back story to this is that Leo got lost and swam up a river estuary instead of down back towards the ocean and ended up finding a certain rabbit who had to help get him back home. They became friends and were very sad to part from each other, but ofc they find each other again and it’s dramatic af <3
