We as a society need to talk more about how sometimes when a person sneezes their tampon just...pops out. It's fuckin weird and funny and everyone should know that.

directionless anger
(or, something like: the robin mantle is a curse, but that isn't inherently anyone's fault and someone has to wear it)
i adapted the two pages below the cut bc they were haunting me—tim having a nightmare the day of his mother's funeral, from Batman (1940) #455: “Identity Crisis, Part 1”, from this post

I heard that sharks and rays are super closely related. Are skates an approximate bridging “group” between them? Or are they outside of both groups
Tumblr media
They are all really closely related- there in all the same class known as Chondrichthyes, or cartilaginous fish. Sharks evolved first, approximately 350 million years ago during the Carboniferous period. Skates and ray came around at approximately the same time as each other 150 million years ago during the Jurassic period.
So skates aren't really a "bridging group", they're actually most closely related to rays!

Happy Fossil Friday! With sharp teeth, long legs, and sickle claws, Deinonychus antirrhopus was likely a formidable predator. This dinosaur, which could reach lengths of about 7 ft (2.1 m) from nose to tail, lived during the Early Cretaceous, some 107 million years ago. It belonged to a group of dinosaurs called maniraptors, or “hand-robbers.” Its hands and feet were equipped with sharp claws for catching and grasping prey. Like modern-day birds, it had hollow bones.
Fun fact: The Deinonychus on display in the Museum is a real fossil skeleton—and the only one of its kind on display anywhere in the world! See it up close in the Hall of Saurischian Dinosaurs! We're open daily from 10 am-5:30 pm. Plan your visit.

Even if Harrow casts aside like. Her ritual paint and religious stuff from no longer believing in John, I dont think she'll ever be comfortable having long hair. Maybe not even a bare face if she has the choice. Her clothing may not be religious anymore, but not having those things is stuff she associates with a lack of autonomy and the worst times in her life, especially the long hair. She might keep the trappings of the office or find other ways to veil that arent about the original reasons, but i dont think she'll ever completely change in that aspect.

COSMO JARVIS as John Blackthorne ANNA SAWAI as Toda Mariko SHŌGUN | Chapter Six: Ladies of the Willow World
People you come to this place have something they wish to forget. Be it boredom, pain, hardship, disappointment. They believe this place is about physical pleasure, which it is, but it can me more. The people I meet wish for a different life or circumstance, they want to be any place other than where they are.

most anarchists don't outright say they want to abolish building codes (or organisations) - but, practically, when the question of enforcement comes down to it, it's a different story. building codes that are not enforced are not building codes, they're fun suggestions. if you are not ensuring that all, in this case wheelchair ramps, are up to code, you functionally do not have building codes. it's the same issue as with organisation - without a concept of democratic centralism, 'what if the organisation decides to do something that a small subset disagree with' generally receives no solution other than just 'those people just won't do what the organisation decides', which in practice means there does not exist an organisation at all, just a group of people who currently happen to all agree on something, and will disintegrate when they stop happening to agree. in practice there can be no actual collective action, no ensuring wide conformity to codes and programs, without some form of central authority to make reference to. 'just let the village's Ramp Inspecting enthusiast decide if it's fine' does not a building code make.

"And now, his monarch's sweating face thrust into his, he remembers something his father told him: if you burn your hand, Tom, raise your hands and cross your wrists before you, and hold them so till you get to the water or the salve: I don't know how it works, but it confuses the pain, and then if you utter a prayer at the same time, you might get off not too bad. He raises his palms. He crosses his wrists. Back you go, Henry. As confused by the gesture — as if almost relieved to be stopped—the king face away and so relieving him, Cromwell, of that bloodshot stare, of the indecent closeness of the popping blue whites of the king's eyes. He says, softly, 'God preserve you, Majesty. And now, will you excuse me?' (Mantel, H. 2012. Bring up the Bodies. 276-277)
