Shane: In real life - I don't - you know, I want - I want to hype him up and make sure he's feeling good, you know, but when we're in a haunted location, I want him to be as freaked out as possible. I want those eyes bulging. Ryan: They are, they - yeah. Shane: He's a bulger. Ryan: They were. They were bulgin'. My balls were bulging. Shane: [laughs] Eyeballs. Ryan: Correct.

I think one of most fascinating aspects of the watcher subscription service debacle is how it kinda broke open the floodgates for people to voice their frustrations with the content that Watcher produces.
Some of the most frequent and popular comments and posts I saw on the matter were about how
-Watcher does not make TV quality content
-No one is happy with the high production budget of these new shows
-Pretty much everyone has been supporting them this whole time just because they enjoy the chemistry that Shane and Ryan had on Unsolved
-All anyone was asking for was Shane and Ryan bantering behind a desk tbh
But the outrage generated by "we want to make more stuff that our fans don't like so please give us more money to do that" let people feel justification to say "hey we never actually liked any of the decisions watcher was making we just wanted to support the creators we liked, even though we don't happen to like what they're creating right now"
Wonder if this whole thing will change how they approach creating content in the future

Interviewer: So you've announced that you're doing your own streaming platform correct? What's going to change really you know? Ryan: For Ghost Files, I mean it's kind of the thing that's going to allow us to take bigger swings like we did this season, like going international, upgrading some of our kit, and just overall making the show better and more sustainable behind the scenes 'cuz it's a really hard show to make. And then as far as like other series it's going to allow us to make those a little bit better but also allow us to make new series in general, and also bring on new faces to the to the channel that we haven't previously been able to. YouTube is like a little bit of a harder place sometimes for that kind of content to survive…sometimes if something isn't getting the proper amount of views that it would need it wouldn't survive perhaps in that environment but on a different environment, perhaps our own platform, then maybe it will have a better chance and now that we have both it'll allow us to, I guess, really give everything a try. But really more than anything it's just about improving things across the board and then taking bigger risks on our shows.

I find it interesting that this whole watcher situation has brought out the fact that a majority of the fandom that came over from unsolved massively preferred the unsolved content from their watcher equivalents
And don’t get me wrong, I love ghost files and mystery files, and it’s great that they really get to show off how good their videography and the like is, but the files shows lack the rewatchability that unsolved has.
All of the comments are in agreement that all us as fans need is Ryan and Shane in a poorly lit room, some slightly uncomfortable chairs, and a stained table with something vaguely interesting to talk about and we will watch it.
I think creating a series sort of like are you scared or too many spirits but lower production value, to essentially act as a money making, rewatchable, nostalgic for unsolved series would be a great move for the company financially and for the fans.
I love ghost files and mystery files, but unsolved just has superior rewatchability. It’s like trying to rewatch an intense drama show vs a funny little sitcom

I'm so unironically happy that people were genuinely having a great time at the Ghost files tour. Like, fuck yea, people were just having a good time, it wasn't a dumpster fire. I am legitimately just so fucking happy rn.
