The throne room was abuzz with father’s men talking over one another when you arrived, the herald announcing your entrance and silencing the cacophony for a moment. “What is the cause for so much excitement, your grace?”

“My darling child, thank the stars you are here.” The King rubbed his forehead to ease the pain that often flared when difficult decisions needed to be made. “News arrived from Westeros, Viserys is dead and his council has crowned Aegon as his successor.”

“That snivelling worm!” Your fingers curled around the pommel of the sword hanging from your hip. “And what of Rhaenyra? Surely she will not take the treachery lying down.”

“You know as well as I do, she does not have the support to take her seat on the Iron Throne.” The King drummed his fingers over the arm of his throne and watched you pace before him. 

“The skies must be nearly black with ravens in Westeros.” You stopped pacing to look at the tapestry map of the Known World hung across the wall, narrowing your eyes at the embroidered lettering locating King’s Landing. “Every man and his dog will be out trying to gather support for one side or another.”

The doors to the throne room were thrown open and the heralder looked pale as he announced the new arrival. “Prince Aemond, requesting to seek an audience with the King of Scythe.”

“Speaking of dog,” you muttered at the same time as Aemond stepped into the doorway, pushing past the heralder as he spoke, “Request suggests I will take no for an answer.”

The faded pink scar on your chest burned as he scanned the cavernous room and you noticed his step falter at your sight only because you knew how graceful his feet could carry him. More than once, your hands had found themselves between your legs on the nights spent alone, his name on your lips as you chased down a release that couldn’t come close to matching what he had given you.

“You dare to waltz in here and demand an audience with the King.” It didn’t matter that the king’s guards were stationed between Aemond and your father, you drew Black Heart from her scabbard and crossed the room. “I should have your tongue for the insult.”

The curve of his lips left a perpetual smirk on his smug face but the press of your sword to his chest had it widening by the second. “That would be an enormous waste, princess. I think you would rather like what my tongue can do.”

His words were only for you to hear and you felt them all the way down to your toes that curled in your boots before Ser Negan reached your side and placed a calm hand on your sword arm. “The prince is here as messenger, not warrior. Isn’t that right, Kinslayer?”

Kinslayer. That was a new title or you would have heard of it already, but which of his blood relatives had he killed, you wondered.

Reluctantly, you sheathed Black Heart and took a breath as you regained your composer that had been misinterpreted as anger and not what it truly was, desire. As your sword slid home, you swore it would not be the next addition to the Iron Throne, nor would your fathers. 

Aemond finally looked away from you as you turned your back on him, trusting Ser Negan to protect it as you walked back to your father’s side. No one moved until you reached the last step and were securely placed behind three rows of kings guards.

“I come with a proposal,” Aemond spoke to the King, his voice calm and confident despite standing in the heart of his enemy's territory. “To unite our people and end the conflict that has kept us divided.”

The King chuckled and your own laugh echoed his as the rest of the room held its collective breath. “Your family has already usurped one throne. Is your plan to use this union to steal mine too? Or, perhaps you just want my soldiers to die in the war you have waged with your sister?”

Aemond ran his forefinger over his bottom lip and you remembered the feel of them as moved inside you, your corseted dress suddenly too tight to breathe in. He seemed to notice the tell of your dark thoughts and stared at the skirting as if he could see the throb pulsing between your thighs. 

“I won’t lie, if the opportunity were presented I might take it for myself,” Aemond said to you before flicking his eye to the King. “But if my dear wife-to-be begged on her knees, I may be inclined to listen to her requests and let her homeland remain untouched.”

There was already an heir to the Oaken Throne but your half brother was travelling the dangerous northern provinces, if something were to happen to him you would be the next in line to the throne. It would be dangerous to have someone with Targaryen blood married to someone so close to the throne.

Your father rose from his throne and drew Dragon Bane from where the ancient sword had rested against the arm. The sword had been forged by dragon fire and could cut through the thick scales that protected the beasts, one of only two blades that remained intact to this day. 

“I do not take kindly to threats,” the King stated as he watched the flames from the large hearth reflect in the metal. “Especially ones towards my sweet daughter.”

“I intend to find out just how sweet she is.” The prince laughed as he knew the truth and took a lazy step closer to the guards ready to cut him down and pulled a scroll from his cloak. You caught sight of the dagger that you were intimately familiar with as his cloak fell back into place and licked your dry lips. “I have already taken the liberty to draw up the contract. You will find the terms quite agreeable.”

Quiet as a mouse, your Lady-in-Waiting skirted around the edge of the room until she was at your side. The slip of a girl took your hand and kissed the top of it as she curtsied, passing a note into your palm before disappearing silently into the crowd.

The King stepped down from the raised platform the throne sat upon and raised his sword, the guards parting at his gesture. “I will tell you exactly what you can do with that scroll, prince, but I assure you it won’t be enjoyable.”

The threat of violence was shimmering in Aemond’s eye and he was excited to hear the threat that would give him cause to damn the city, you couldn’t allow that to happen. “I accept your proposal.” Your father’s eyes flared with fury as he spun around to see blood dripping from your palm, the promise already made. “You will not make an oathbreaker of me will you, your grace?”

Grief washed over your fathers face and he dropped his sword with defeat, cursing your mother for the drop of witch-blood that passed through the female descendants. The cocky grin from Aemond only served to enrage your father more until he screamed for the room to be emptied. 

“Not you,” the King ordered when you stepped past him, he caught your elbow and held you there until the last guard closed the heavy wooden door behind him. “What were you thinking! You wish to live with our enemy?”

“I was thinking I don’t want to see our city and our people burn the second the spoiled brat doesn’t get his way.” You slapped the note into his palm and watched his eyes widen at the words. “I have studied the dragon wars, father, two of the beasts could destroy Scythe. I am sworn to protect my people, even if it means sacrificing myself.”

“The Targaryens will expect the support of our soldiers.” Your father shook his head and cupped your face. “He will demand that you live in King’s Landing with him.”

“They don’t know how many soldiers we have. Half are in the north and they cannot expect us to leave our country undefended so we can argue for the national corps to remain stationed here.” You placed your hands over your father’s and patted them reassuringly. “Once word gets across the Narrow Sea that Scythe has allied with King Aegon, Rhaenyra will assume that means our vast army of legend. Perhaps it will be the deterrent needed to avoid war all together.”

“I will pray to the stars to keep you safe.” His fingers traced the blood promise cut across your palm. “That is all any of us can do now.”

“Where is he?” you demanded the second you stepped out of the throne room and found the foyer empty, save for the king's guards. 

“Prince Aemond?” Ser Khoal asked with a confused frown. “He said you would know.”

Forcing a smile on your face, you bid farewell and took the shortcuts the maids used until you reached your room without the eyes of the guards seeing.

Aemond chuckled without casting a glance in your direction as he sat in your chair, watching the flames in the hearth. “Is that any way to speak to your soon-to-be husband, my darling?”

Scully’s wrists still burned where they had been bound. It had been duct tape this time, something new this time, and the sticky residue was still on her skin. She picked at it as she watched EMS workers and local FBI agents flutter around like a flock of disturbed birds. She should feel shaken, like the first time, when her hands were shackled to a radiator, but if anything, she felt a disturbing amount of normality. Her breathing was heavy, and she felt her shoulders shaking but she knew these things were happening, and that in of itself was a comfort. She was able to respond to the questions asked by EMS and other agents with a steady voice, afterall, she knew them so well.

What day is it? Your name? What about his? Can you look to the left for me? Look to the right now. Good, any pain? You were outside your rental car when he injected you with the chemicals, correct? Do you remember any of the ride to where you were found or were you unconscious? Did he mention anything of his other victims to you? Could you lead me step by step of what happened? Any accomplices? Yes, he was underneath the car, I didn’t see him. It is the third of February. My full name is Dana Katherine Scully. The man who looks as if he swallowed a frog is Agent Fox Mulder. With the soft sound of their notebooks closing, the conversation was over and already being replaced with their later than usual lunch. Scully looked back down at her hands, at the red marks the tape left. He must have taken off part of the epidermis. She lightly ran her finger over it as she tried to force herself into a calm demeanor. The epidermis comprises five layers, basal, prickle cell, granular, clear and cornified. She ran over the definitions in her mind, trying to focus on fact over the mimicking voices in her brain.

Her body shot forward suddenly at the sudden warm, solid presence of something on her shoulder. Scully turned her head around to find Mulder’s hand retreating, his eyes widening and his mouth beginning to form a question. Scully focused on drifting her eyes without a care to keep that question down. She was getting tired of having to say that she was fine.

It was the only answer anyone would take without question or follow-up. An honest one would make the room uncomfortable and would have questions regarding her ability to succeed in this type of position raised. Scully didn’t want to be doubted, not any more than she usually was. A great, looking forward to not sleeping the next three days would only be met with her being called a bitch. She was a little tired of that too. So fine, because it was the only one that the police officers and agents around would take without question.

Apart from Mulder who would only take it as an answer so far and become her self-appointed guard dog whenever she said it. He stood suffocatingly close to her the entire time after she had been freed from that RV. Scully could feel his body heat on her back, taste the carbon monoxide he exhaled, and hear the slight grinding of his teeth. It made her skin prickle, her own anxiety she had been trying to push away feeding on Mulder’s. He stood by when the EMTs checked her out. He watched their hands suspiciously as if an ice pick would appear out of them to finish the job from before. He watched Scully give her report on what happened, butting in when he thought details would be too much for her. Scully leaned back when he did. From the back, she couldn’t distinguish him from the rest of the agents around them.

SpaceTime -- A brief history

SpaceTime is Australia’s most popular and respected astronomy and space science news program – averaging over two million downloads every year. We’re also number five in the United States.  The show reports on the latest stories and discoveries making news in astronomy, space flight, and science.  SpaceTime features weekly interviews with leading Australian scientists about their research.  The show began life in 1995 as ‘StarStuff’ on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s (ABC) NewsRadio network.  Award winning investigative reporter Stuart Gary created the program during more than fifteen years as NewsRadio’s evening anchor and Science Editor.  Gary’s always loved science. He studied astronomy at university and was invited to undertake a PHD in astrophysics, but instead focused on his career in journalism and radio broadcasting. He worked as an announcer and music DJ in commercial radio, before becoming a journalist and eventually joining ABC News and Current Affairs. Later, Gary became part of the team that set up ABC NewsRadio and was one of its first presenters. When asked to put his science background to use, Gary developed StarStuff which he wrote, produced and hosted, consistently achieving 9 per cent of the national Australian radio audience based on the ABC’s Nielsen ratings survey figures for the five major Australian metro markets: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth.  The StarStuff podcast was published on line by ABC Science -- achieving over 1.3 million downloads annually.  However, after some 20 years, the show finally wrapped up in December 2015 following ABC funding cuts, and a redirection of available finances to increase sports and horse racing coverage.  Rather than continue with the ABC, Gary resigned so that he could keep the show going independently.  StarStuff was rebranded as “SpaceTime”, with the first episode being broadcast in February 2016.  Over the years, SpaceTime has grown, more than doubling its former ABC audience numbers and expanding to include new segments such as the Science Report -- which provides a wrap of general science news, weekly skeptical science features, special reports looking at the latest computer and technology news, and Skywatch – which provides a monthly guide to the night skies. tarlos top five

@rmd-writes asked for my top five tarlos scenes, and after some soul searching (because season four shook some shit up), my list is as follows:

4x16 | “Hi. You’re TK, I’m Carlos, and we’re soulmates.”

GAMECHANGER. Yes, it confirmed what most of us already knew: Carlos was gone from the first second. But the execution is so beautiful, from the impetus to the ease and certainty of Carlos’ declaration to TK’s confession in turn (“why do you think I ran?” is the most TK Strand way ever to do this, and oddly enough, the easiest to believe). My favorite thing, though, will forever be the exact way this was worded and performed — that “Hi,” which is unrivaled levels of perfection (seriously, it sits somewhere between addressing a lost child and a spooked puppy, which is just brilliant as a line read, and every time I hear it I want to toss flowers at Rafa’s feet), but more than that, the fact that he says “you’re TK” before introducing himself, because the most important thing to Carlos is that TK know who he is first. True love at its finest.

3x04 | “Hey, baby. Breathe. Breathe, breathe.”

This was, up until the season three finale, the most fanfic shit I have ever seen aired on national television. Seriously, this is straight out of somebody’s multi-chapter slow burn whump fic wet dream, and watching it live, I was living. His raspy voice. Those hands clenched into terrified little fists. That breathing. The script said “he takes a deep breath” and Rafa was like “BET.” But beyond that, we had that whole bedside missive with Carlos lamenting about consent — that he couldn’t hold TK’s hand, run his fingers through his hair, kiss his head. And the fact that coma TK heard all this, woke up and reached out his hand as permission, and then Carlos did all those things, in that order… Deceased. It still gives me fits. (I am also counting the Tarloft reveal as part of this favorite moment, because I can’t not. “Push” is just perfection.)

4x18 | “We both ended our vows with ‘heart.’”

The vows. The dancing. The Sondheim serenade. The cake cutting (which I’m counting as aired-in-canon, dammit, because it is beyond precious). The honeymoon hand holding. Just, the wedding. All of it.

3x13 l “I love you.” “I know.”

They went Han and Leia on me and it wasn’t even cheesy. Honestly, this whole episode was so important to their growth — their sense of security, their confidence and understanding in each other — to their story, that it couldn’t be left out. Carlos realizes that the best way to help TK is to let him get help where he needs it, even if it leaves him feeling a little helpless, and TK realizes that he still has someone in his corner who’s invested in him, his sobriety, and his happiness, even with his mom gone. The fact that that “I know” holds so much meaning (all while “Transatlanticism” plays on)… Gah. Just beautiful. And on top of all that, Carlos got to be funny!

3x18 | “Marry me.”

“For the first time in my life, the love that I feel is infinitely more powerful than the fear of losing it.” Yep, that’s where I lost it. Because I thought back to baby TK in 1x08, who was being a dick to a cancer dog because he couldn’t fall in love with one more thing that he could lose. The growth. The maturity. The love. 3:18 am, y’all. (The engagement reveal counts as an extension of this as well, because that entire adorable “yes way” exchange between Team Tarloft, with Carlos grinning and TK bouncing and everybody figuring it out from context clues but Mateo is officially the most fanfic thing I’ve ever seen aired on national television, and I love it beyond reason and measure.)

Honorable mention shoutouts to the police station and the airport tarmac, which were knocked down the list by season four things. I still love you!

Guess whose back

Can you believe it’s been FIVE whole years since I was last active on this blog?

I wasn’t totally gone, coming back from the shadows every few months to check out Tumblr, but now I’m officially back for who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The last five years have been a ride. I’ve had some once-in-a-lifetime work opportunities, I’m officially doing the “adult” thing and I’m am married with a house and a dog, and feeling much better mentally after a few tough years with COVID, personal loses, and anxiety. 

What inspired me to come back, was not the downfall of Twitter (though I’m throughly enjoying watching Musk crash and burn something that isn’t a Tesla), but my computer almost dying on me and me realizing I have a lot of writings saved on it that could have been lost. Thankfully my laptop is good now, but going through my old work made me realize how much I’ve missed writing. I really haven’t done any non-work writing since I stopped writing for this blog, and it’s like a part of me is missing. 

So, I’m dusting off the keyboard, revisiting my drafts, and going to get back to work again! I’m definitely going to be rusty, but hey, it’s like riding a bike (I hope). 

My biggest goal is to finally end Night Falls for y’all. I did y’all dirty not finishing it five years ago. On a personal note, I’m actually going to start working on it again and see if it’s something worth publishing when I’m done. 

On a SPN note, I also fell out of watching the show around season 12 or so. To be honest, the writing just felt lazy and I felt like they were using the same plot lines over and over and had really dumbed down all of the characters and using them for cheap laughs except for the final big episodes of each season. I did however push through the rest of the series after it ended, just to know what happened. And definitely wasn’t happy they way they did our Dean. 

But, that’s what the fanfic world is for, and I’m looking forward to contributing to it again. 

Very excited to be back and can’t wait to start posting again! I already have one fic ready to launch so keep an eye out for it!

My Drakken/Shego Fanfics Masterpost

It has come to my attention that I have written...a lot of Drakgo fics.  So I thought I'd make this post to try to help.

Fics are listed alphabetically in the categories I've given them, with sequels below them for ease.

I’ve tried to give a small description and category for each fic.

Links given to each fic are the FanFiction.net link.  However, if you prefer to read on ArchiveOfOurOwn.org, you can click the following to find my KP/Drakgo fics there.  

I feel I am terrible at describing my own fics without giving anything away, so do click links and read the actual summaries and author’s notes on the site to give you better context.

Be aware, many fics may have adult themes or mentions of adult themes.  I would describe my NSFW content as similar to modern sitcoms or TV dramas.  If you’ve seen Titanic, I’d say it’s slightly more than that.

Some of these fics are headcanon, many are not, and some I’m going to later retcon to become headcanon...  That said, don’t hurt yourself looking for any continuity.  I apologize... My thoughts are one big jumble and I want to explore every possibility within Drakgo~  Someday I will go through and mark which fics are headcanon... Today is not that day.

SHERLOCK BBC - SUMMARY OF A THEORY

As my theory, regarding the story told in Sherlock BBC, is mostly developed now in broad lines, it’s time for a summary. This interpretation is entirely based on metaphorical reading and plays with the idea that Sherlock consciously investigates his own case, the pink one, inside his head on - what I like to call it - a mind stage. The very first explanation of what became my favourite theory, back in August 2016, before S4 aired:

THOUGHTS AND IDEAS revolving around the possibility that more than just the second half of HLV might be a bit not real. Ok some basis thoughts for this idea:  TSOT is the episode where Sherlock deduces himself successfully to be in love with John Watson. What if it is also the episode where Sherlock tries to figure out what chances there are that John Watson might also be interested in him. What does John Watson like? A male version of a commanding officer with a difficult past? Because all the nice girls like a soldier? Or a female version of a clever and cheeky woman who knows about skip-codes and is eagerly at John’s heels when the possibility of adventure and murder can be anticipated but provides also a ‘normal’ life and maybe a child?

In short: could it be possible that in TSOT we are dealing with a James Sholto and a Mary Morstan - both existing only in Sherlocks mind. Both versions of Sherlock himself. All of TSOT a sort of mind-chess to deal in his own special way with everything that happens to him emotionally. Because this is something completely new to him and he doesn’t know how to handle it otherwise.

TEH - Sherlock’s awakening sexuality. TSOT - Sherlock deducing himself into love and figuring out what John might like.  HLV - Sherlock realizing that John would be bored in a 'normal’ relationship and also that he himself would not survive being parted from John. Losing John would kill him like a shot in the heart. TAB - Sherlock asking 'Who am I and what made me like this’ . Throwing himself finally in the waterfall of his emotions. Trusting John to be clever and always at his side.  That leaves only his past to be dealt with … the burried skeleton which is still not found. Then Sherlock is free for John.

That’s just a very short summary of all the thoughts that kept us talking the last weeks … months?  I don’t know any more. Anyway, now these ideas are out. It looks like in S4 the story goes back to Reichenbach. Maybe for more than just for solving the FALL. Remember where we left them, Mofftiss said. Maybe the real showdown between Sherlock and Moriarty hasn’t happened yet and in the end we will get John at Sherlock’s side when he is finally facing his archenemy (whoever it might be)  As it always should have been. The two alone against the rest of the world.

3) If someone hasn’t resurrected for the first time and is still considered mortal, can a Revenant still sense if that person is immortal or is it only after they resurrect the first time?

4) Are there any more traits that Revenants have other than immortality?

5) How did Verena and Odette even stumble upon the thoughts of Revenants? That just doesn’t come out of the blue..

Oh, of course! This is genuinely making my day that y'all are interested!

Yes! I've got a whole playlist on Spotify (I believe it's linked on the YouTube channel), but I can name a few specific ones from it! I Found - Amber Run (for Serena) tired of me - Karina Grace (for Kaylee) There's also some on there for characters that have yet to be introduced in the story.

Well, they had their first kiss in the finale, and they will definitely develop their relationship over the course of Season Two. We delve into some of Serena's backstory, and within that it will deepen their relationship. So, it might be a liiiittle bit of a slower burn, but for the sake of creating a deep amount of trust between the characters.

So this is actually a plot point! They can't sense that the mortal person is actually a Revenant until after the first resurrection, as a lot changes about your body (and genetics) when the first resurrection is triggered. I suppose it's a tiny spoiler, but also established, that that's one of the things Helena is trying to figure out at Aeterna- how to tell someone is a Revenant before they've died the first time.

I'm going to delve a lot deeper into that especially during Series Two (which, if I stick with the current plan, will be Seasons Five-Eight), but I can go ahead and talk about it some here. The Revenants ability to resurrect, and subsequently live forever, is based on a "healing immortality." So, I tried to imagine what that would look like over time, as the body continues to heal and improve itself. I imagine eventually, a Revenant wouldn't need to sleep, eat, etc. and would have improved memory, cognitive function, etc. as their body has worked to heal and improve itself.

Verena and Odette definitely didn't stumble upon Revenants, but for now, I'm going to have to keep the how a secret. It's going to come up in the series! (Either in the later part of Season Two or in Season Three, depending on how the episodes work.)

Oh, my God, I love that so much! I've not thought about pets before, but honestly, I'm very into that idea, that's so cute!

Well, I actually wrote Resurrection as a TV pilot like four or five years ago! That version was quite different than what we see now, but I still have the script. I live in NYC, and I wanted to set something in the city, and write a genre I haven't written before (sci-fi). I don't remember how the specific idea of the characters being able to resurrect came to me, but if I'm honest, I think I might've seen a quote on Pinterest that inspired it (I have Pinterest boards for every project I write, as well as one for writing inspiration for later). Right off the bat, I really love Inej! Her perspective is really lovely and her affection (/p) for Kaz is very clear from the get-go. It’s so juicy to meet our main protagonist from the perspective of an admirer and NOT themself. I’m obsessed with that.

I’m very respectfully in love with Kaz and did not say I’d makeout with him in the groupchat in front of god and everyone. No, sir. I am the most normal about Kaz Brekker.

Moving on from my goof, I really love Kaz just as a character. Having a disabled protagonist, much less one that’s Top Dog and very clearly feared and respected by his peers is SO GOOD. And quite honestly I think he’s the first disabled protag I’ve seen that wasn’t like, pity porn or magically nullified (at least in books. Love you Toph of Avatar fame). So if anyone has good reccs of other disabled protag books, drop ‘em. I’d love to read more.

OH I LIED ACTUALLY I READ STORMRUNNER!! I just didn’t get a chance to finish that series entirely so sorry I forgot about that. Love him SO MUCH. he and Kaz are my besties.

Also the Banter!!! I’m not even a hundred pages in but the banter in Six of Crows is SO much better than Shadow & Bone. Bardugo has really grown as an author between these two series and it shows. The characters feel much more solid in this. Whereas Shadow & Bone’s characters (minus like, Alina, Nikolai, and Mal) felt extremely 2D at times (in my opinion) and I can see layers to Jesper, Inej, and Kaz right off the bat.

The Umbrella Academy, Ep.1x04  – Man on the Moon

I know Venya’s lonely but, come on, given her Dad’s behavior are we truly to believe she wasn’t given any sort of training?  You know a watch out for suspicious people trying to get inside the home, kind of deal because, yea gods, this man is not subtle at all.  

I must admit Luther’s story about how he became the way he is is pretty anti-climatic; but they do make up for it by being a complete bastard to Klaus.  To explain, considering the type of person Dad is, one would guess he used Luther as an experiment and that’s how Luther became part…Gorilla, I think? The reality is that Luther was injured in a mission and, when it was obvious Luther was going to die, Dad used a serum on him, which end up turning him.  Unethical as hell, sure, but he wasn’t actively using Luther as a lab rat.

With Klaus, on the other hand, Dad decided to get rid of Klaus’ fear of the dead by locking him in a Crypt, so he couldn’t get away from the specters.  Gee, can’t guess why Klaus started using drugs.  

So, let’s the this episode’s B plot out of the way.  Leonard is creepy.  He says creepy things, does creepy things, and is pretty much caught out by Allison; but of course, he does something that Venya thinks is sweet (and most people would still find creepy) and she asks him to breakfast. But we see he’s not a good man as he’s been able to procure Vanya’s medicine (which she says is for her nerves) and dump them down the sink.  

But the main story starts with the discovery of Mom, by Luther and Allison; who they believe was killed by Hazel and Cha-Cha.  Luther decides to look for Five.  Diego is also looking for Five, but has decided to stop by Detective Patch’s home first and telling her the his mother died.  He also told her that the two people in masks she’s looking for (Hazel and Cha-Cha) attacked his home the night before and that he has to find his brother; although he’s not clear on which brother he needs to find.

Meanwhile, Klaus is being tortured by Hazel and Cha-Cha and, I will be honest, I felt more sorry for the pair then I did Klaus. At least, during the first few minutes. Cha-Cha realizes that they need to attack him in a more personal way, so they start to go through his coat and destroy his drugs.  They also eat his “Special Chocolate.”  This makes Klaus crack and he tells them that about the glass eye and the lab.  So, they go to the lab to burn it down and send a message.  But between the motel and the lab, the drugs kick in.  They are successful at setting the lab aflame; but Cha-Cha also manages to burn an ear off from her dog mask.  This is important as it is found by the detectives later.

While this is going on, Five threatens the Doctor at knifepoint and demands that the Doctor tells him what’s really going on.  Turns out the Doctor has been selling prosthetics and such off books and on the black market. Which means that the glass eye probably is something that was already created, just not recorded.  Five goes back to the lab to get the list of buyers, only to find the whole building on fire.  He decides to get drunk and go to the library (as someone who works in a library…that’s pretty accurate).  

What Five doesn’t know is that Hazel and Cha-Cha left a message on his van saying that they have his brother.  Detective Patch notices and goes to the motel.  Meanwhile, Hazel and Patch are at the motel waiting to spring a trap on Five.  At the same time Klaus, who’s going through withdrawal, is starting to see the victims of Hazel and Cha-Cha.  Ben tells Klaus that he needs to use his powers in order to get information from the victims and use it against his kidnappers.  And he does.  What we learn is that Hazel seems to not really want to do his job anymore, as he keeps letting people get away.  

While this is happening, Luther and Diego have found Five at the library and are taking him back to Diego’s place.  Also, Patch has arrived at the motel.  Knowing full well that she won’t get a court order to search the rooms, Patch calls Diego in order to have him come help her.  She calls Diego’s place of work/gym where he lives and asks the owner to tell Diego to meet her.  Of course, Diego doesn’t show up and so she goes in alone.

Big mistake.  She is able to find, and free Klaus, but Cha-Cha was able to sneak around the motel room and shoot Patch.  Klaus escapes and he takes with him a briefcase that is very important to Hazel and Cha-Cha.  Klaus tries to open the briefcase and is teleported through time.

At the end of the episode, Diego arrives at his place and is given the message by the owner.  Diego rushes to the motel and finds Patch on the floor; and by the looks of it, she is dead.  Diego hears sirens and flees; even though it is clear that he doesn’t want to leave her.

'What connects Schindler's List, Mission: Impossible, Verdeldung, The Irishman, Gangs of New York, American Gangster and Hannibal with "Ripley"? It is screenwriter Steven Zaillian, who at the age of 71 is behind the camera for the first time as a director. The result is a Netflix series that you have to see. Not only, but especially as a cinema fan. In the eight-part remake of the famous thriller by Agatha Christie with Andrew Scott and Dakota Fanning in the leading roles, Zaillian shows on TV, of all places, what cinema is, can be and must be.

Alfred Hitchcock , the British grand master of suspense with a weakness for cool Nordic women (quote: “Blondes are always the first to reach into men's fly”) would have had great fun with the Netflix remake of “Ripley”. Despite her blonde hair, Marge Sherwood (Dakota Fanning) doesn't go anywhere with the psychopathic murderer Tom Ripley (great: Andrew Scott) over eight episodes. But she recognizes Ripley as a parasite who brings misfortune to her true love, Richard 'Dickie' Greenleaf (Johnny Flynn). With this, Marge sets the carousel of tension in motion.

The story is set in the late 1950s. It is also told that way by Steven Zaillian. The series feels as if it was produced in Hitchcock's prudish post-war Italy. Eroticism, like feelings in general, is hidden - despite the sun and crystal clear sea - in the muddy depths of the unconscious. That's what it's all about.

One may find the pace in which the course of events in "Ripley" first unfolds and later restricts, over-extended and generally unnecessarily slow - just as the US industry magazine's review of the series criticized it in a review.

I see it 100% the other way around: After over five thousand films and series that I have had to deal with in my career, moving images usually burn out in my gray cells after just a few hours. Not so with “Ripley.” And that means something.

I watched the eighth episode of the Netflix series with Andrew Scott five days ago, along with episodes 7 and 8. The images have stuck: I can still see Tom Ripley, New York and the Amalfi Coast right in front of me. My fellow viewer was therefore relieved that the series ended. From episode 2 onwards, she thought she could hardly stand the tension any longer. Precisely because the series gives its audience the time to look.

Everything else is a lie: "Ripley" feels like you're standing right next to Andrew Scott as a secret spectator. Doomed to watch and watch his dilemma. In the end, the feeling of having been there dominates. Against my better judgment.

This Thomas 'Tom' Ripley is coolly calculating. He can switch his emotionless reptilian eyes to a lost puppy dog ​​look in a matter of seconds. But the smartest person among God's children on earth - which is a great attraction of the series and Agatha Christie's story - is not this murderer.

TDI23 Season 2 ep 9-12 thoughts and theories. Spoilers ahead.

*This is a really long post, fair warning.*

Ep 9: Find something big on the island only to then break it apart to fit through a small window on a wooden door. I liked the twist in the challenge and the funny moments but the elimination was crap imo.

Ep 10: Memory game where they have to memorize a grid of eliminated contestants faces while standing on a punishment pod and then use their tablets to pick the right square when that person pops up. Guess wrong and suffer a punishment related to the person they chose somehow. I liked this challenge except for the fact that they could see who picked which square for some reason and the punishment for picking Chase was ridiculous 🙄. Also, the elimination was crap, AGAIN.

Ep 11: Get chased by one of "five" fierce police dogs and try to avoid being dragged back to the carpet. Three chances each, the dogs are tracking them by the smell of their socks. It was cool to see MacArthur again and I liked four of the five dogs (Edward Scissormouth, Beartrap, Chainsaw and Bloodhunter) but Booger looks very off/gross and reminds me of every tiny, annoying dog I've ever seen in my life.

Ep 12: Wearing a harness that has a hookable part on the front and each armed with a hook attached to a crane, they must hook each other until they are the last one standing in the pit. Hooked contestants get dropped into their tank of terror and must face their greatest fear to get out of the tank. Wouldn't it make more sense for each of them to start in their tank and have to fight their way out first? Idk, it's a weird challenge. We also got to see cameos of the tennis pros from RR and Leshawna's grandma from Dramarama apparently.

Chris:

He enjoyed Chef's misery way too much. Added shared immunity in the memory game since no one was going to get to 10 points quickly enough. Seemed pretty forced imo. It was BS that he kept not giving the contestants 2 minutes to hide from the dogs. Seems to enjoy sending the dogs after them WAY too much. At least he won't abuse their allergies I suppose. Him calling Caleb basic was fantastic! And I actually liked that he combined his fears. I don't like how he put poisonous spiders inside the Snow Owls mascot costume and hurt the purple haired intern in the process. Says that he's had no work done and I instantly thought of that one Pahkitew episode and shuddered.

Chef:

His kitten and tortoise video was super cute. I felt so bad for him watching his car get destroyed. 😞 Seems to ship Caleb/Priya which is a little weird but ok. "Yeah, we got a runner." Made me laugh a little. "You have the wooing skills of a dumpster fire." Killed me, oh my god. 🤣 He thinks Julia is more shallow than a kiddy pool and he's absolutely right. I laughed when he asked Priya if she could see the future because of how many times she was electrocuted.

Eliminated contestants:

16th: Lauren/Scary Girl - RIP my Damien vs SG in the fear challenge theory, he didn't even make it that far. 💀

7th: MK - She stole Chef's car and burned it to ashes AND lost the challenge so he lost his car for nothing. There is no way the others would vote for her over Julia who is CLEARLY the bigger threat in every way. The hug between them was cute I guess.

6th: Damien - I liked him trying to comfort Priya but I did say out loud "Yeah, you should feel bad" when he admitted to feeling a little bad for voting for Zee. I laughed at him translating Priya's feelings to Julia with emojis. Him trying to get the sheep to lose a little weight was funny.

Stop moving the idol around and just keep it on you dude, the pickpocket was just eliminated. Has memorized the periodic table and has an edge in this challenge but accidentally keeps picking the same squares as Julia earning her wrath for some dumb reason. Gets brutalized by a wrecking ball that looks like the skull Lauren took from last season. Good on him for giving Julia a taste of her own medicine. Landed in honey and then carried away by bees, forcing him out of the challenge... how is that fair? Oh wait, it's not! 😡 Total crap is what it is. Oh wow, his idol was stolen, who would have seen that coming? Not me hur dur. 🤪 Rest in peace, he was so robbed.

5th: Raj - 🕸️🍑💨 lol. Eating food that old probably should have killed him oh my god. 😱 Took a number of different punishments and then got beat up by a goose. It's nice that he and Wayne miss Damien. Dressing up the mannequin with his clothes was a brilliant plan. I loved how mature he was about his elimination, him shouting out the Snow Owls and Bowie was sweet to see. His final words to Wayne and the hug were very heartwarming.

4th: Priya - She seems to have gone off the deep end with how angry at Caleb she was. I laughed at her hugging the rock but wasn't the catapult a lot bigger than the rock? Got called out for attempted murder but that's pretty much a staple of the show by now so...🤷

WHY ARE YOU LISTENING TO JULIA??? She can't be trusted and you KNOW this! Got blasted by farts, ew. Death by a thousand paper cuts, jfc. She accepts Caleb's confession and they make up. Finally realized that Julia was messing with them and decided to get back at her by attacking her during the final round. Stupidly picks up a tablet and picks right for Julia, allowing her to win immunity. 🙄 Probably should of gone home instead of Damien but oh no can't have that! Need to drag out the drama with Caleb for the rest of the season instead because she's mad at him again. 🤦

Decides to give an alliance with Caleb another shot. Gets mad at him for tackling her off a cliff into the water and away from her attack dog. 🤨 Loses the challenge thanks to Julia's infinite plot armor but survives the elimination ceremony. Seems to be back together with Caleb despite his questionable choices.

I don't approve of her physically hurting his hand like she did and bossing him around. Is afraid of thunder and lightning which I never would have guessed. Got hooked by the back of her pants and apparently doesn't wear underwear or the animators forgot to add them. Actually told Caleb to hook himself like wtf. She should have just eaten the marshmallow instead of gloating, it wouldn't have saved her but still. She wants to see Julia crushed into the dirt and so do I. "Avenge me! Avenge meeeeee!" Made me laugh a little. 😆 I still don't think she should have made it this far but this basically confirms that no contestant can be a finalist more than once.

Final Three

Caleb:

Is trying to fix things with Priya but keeps messing up. At least he's smart enough to avoid an alliance with Julia and MK. Dragged back a yacht and broke it down to win the challenge and stay on the island for another day.

He almost made up with Priya and then ran out of time, oof. Why would he ever listen to Julia's advice about anything, wtf is this 180 from last episode? Landed in trash and attacked by raccoons. Successfully fought off a goose but his tablet got knocked away right next to Julia and she decided to activate the punishments on him because he decided to confess to Priya at that moment thanks to Chef's speech. His confession was kinda sweet and they make up. Picks the wrong square and suffers a mini version of the death boot slide with Priya. Imo, he chooses the game over Priya by accepting Julia's agreement to vote how she wants him to and I can't believe this is happening, what the hell is this nightmare. 💀

Says that he accepted immunity from Julia so that he could spend more time with Priya but if she was voted off instead of Damien then he would be stuck on the island without her so idk, seems like a stretch to me. Gets outmatched by Booger, the smallest of the dogs and the craziest apparently, who can also drive a jet ski somehow. Got back into Priya's good graces despite everything.

Wants to not betray the agreement he has with Julia because his grandmother taught him to be truthful or something but his plan at the start of the season contradicts that imo. Actually hooks Priya because Julia told him to, damn dude that's just sad. His greatest fear is snakes and clowns which are both kinda basic so Chris combined them into a clown snake! 🤣 Is trapped by the snake's body and tries to escape by pulling on its tongue but it turns out to be just a bunch of cloths tied together and he passes out. "It'll all be over soon", he says as he's being swallowed by the snake made me laugh. Has to decide whether to hook Priya or Julia but he decided to hook both of them to win the challenge. Promised to win the final challenge for Priya but is frightened of her aggressiveness towards seeing Julia lose.

Wayne:

I liked him trying to defend Priya even if Caleb had already walked away. Him vs the outhouse killed me. 🤣 I've lost track how many times he's been hit in the crotch.

Him trying to feed Raj was funny. They don't study or take tests in school because of a tutor they have and to focus on hockey...oh my god. 🤦 Kept picking the same squares as Raj and kept getting punished for it. Got attacked by a goose as well.

Eating your socks was a bad idea. Climbing the tree was a good plan until the dog started chomping the tree but he actually managed to get away from him. I laughed when he cried over the destroyed mannequin. 😂 Flips a coin about who to vote off, saying he let the moose decide lol. Seeing him cry about Raj's elimination was sad to see, probably one of the saddest moments in the season, if not the saddest.

When the sad song started I thought it was him singing, kinda sounds like him a bit. Goes along with Julia's plan but "So you want to get married?!?!" got me lol. It takes him way too long to realize that Julia is playing him but I shouldn't be surprised. His greatest fear is Raj playing for a different hockey team but he overcomes it in no time at all. Hooks Caleb and is then hooked by Julia again. His second greatest fear is his own team's mascot: the Snow Owl! He also overcomes this fear and patches up the intern inside the costume which is nice to see. Gets hooked for a third time and is dropped into Caleb's tank, landing on the snake and freeing him in the process. Along with everyone else, he also never thought he'd make the finale lol.

Julia:

She has zero tack I swear to god, at least MK faked being concerned for Priya for a few minutes. Cut down a tree and then proceeds to hack it apart. I laughed when the squirrel attacked her. Didn't win immunity but managed to avoid elimination thanks to a BS ploy that only worked because the rest of the contestants forgot that she is a manipulative challenge beast that has no standards whatsoever. 🙄

Oh look, she's successfully manipulating people who already know her game and somehow they believe her without much convincing, what an amazing plan! 🙄 Says that the others have no chance against her memory and is then surprised when Damien picks the same square as her, like what did you expect? Even if it wasn't on purpose she's still dumb for getting mad at him. Honestly, they all should have done the same thing to drive her insane lol. I laughed at her getting shoved by him and then getting blown high up in the air. Got hit by the wrecking ball skull too. Gets in a fight with Priya but still gets immunity of course. Made an agreement with Caleb and now has him under her thumb for the rest of the god damn season fml.

The cabin doors definitely don't lock and dogs can swim you idiot. Masking her sent with dumpster trash made sense but where the hell did she get a bucket of bacon grease from? Same day delivery my ass. FAKE NAILS ARE NOT STRONG! Get out of here with that crap.

Just in case Caleb betrays her, she goes to Wayne as a backup plan, acting like a hockey bro and he grosses her out lol. Has no problem betraying him multiple times. Finally gets hooked and her greatest fear is old people because they are a reminder that youth doesn't last forever, what a narcissist. Pulled out the immunity idol to save herself from elimination which wasn't a shock at all because of how obvious it was that she was the one who stole it. Karma is coming for you, bitch.

My motivation to write this was at an all time low thanks to the really wack writing in these episodes, what were they thinking??? At least the finale is a bit better than them but still, just wow.

He held it gloriously high within his flippers, marveling at his own craftsmanship. His gaze held no shame in bringing this beauty back to life. In fact even though under orders at the time, he regretted throwing the original prototype away. Well, that's why he kept blueprints for every questionable invention. Skipper was a picky man on what he liked, and Kowalski just happen to be a carful scientist. Thankfully.

But it was finally back, the Love-You-Laser! Of course a 2.0 model, but a wonderus and almost identical recreation of the prevouse one. Up and ready for a run for its money, it had finally come to the point of needing test subjects. But Kowalski knew it would be a difficult task sneaking past the others carrying a rather large bow simply to test it on the zoo's surrounding residence. 

But as of five agonizingly long minutes ago that was no longer the main issue. Let's just say he forgot to lock the lab's door before outright waving it around the room like a squealing little school girl. 

"I said burn it! That's an order, Kowalski!" Skipper commanded for about the millionth time, trying desperately to snatch the device from him. Yet shortness wasn't always an advantage, and unfortunately his Lieutenant was much taller with damn long flippers adding to that. 

Kowalski shoved him off with a grunt, "Skipper, you haven't even given it a chance!" Gripping it to his chest defensively he continued in a calmer yet still whiny tone, "the last thing I need to do is test it on live subjects, and then we'll know if it's dangerous or not! ...Which it isn't." Mumbling the last part to mostly himself he frowned.

Skipper huffed and puffed, clearly twitching with dying down rage as he folded his flippers sassily. "And if something goes wrong?" He paused dramatically, "like it ALWAYS does." 

His smirk returned as his chest swelled with pride; he had planned for just that. "IF, something were to go wrong. I whipped up this serum which should theoretically cancel out any after effects. All one out need to do is have the, uh.. 'in love' one of the two drink it." Kowalski smiled, pulling out a small jar that contained a sparkly purple fluid. 

Skipper sighed rather loudly, sounding like he'd finally caved. "Who'd you have in mind?" He asked drawn out, rolling his eyes quite bluntly. 

That's when Kowalski began to fidget, tapping his wing tips together slowly with a nervous expression now present over his features. "Well, ahem.." clearing his throat he held a flipper to his beak, the other tucked professionally behind his back. "To prevent what happened last time i narrowed down the species that the Love-You-Laser should effect." 

Waddling to his large whiteboard he spun the board, holding a wooden pointer to the surface, showcasing the sillily done drawings. "Which would include mostly aquatic animals, such as; penguins, dolphins, otters, platypuses and other larger sea animals."

"Ok, ok, well then let's just use Marlene and... and uh, whose that platypus guy?" Skipper gestured, rubbing a wing tip under his chin in thought. 

Kowalski gasped, "Parker the platypus?! Skipper, are you out of your mind?!" Grabbing his commander by the shoulders he yelled, practically in his face as he shook him slightly.

"Well it won't be me! You hear me! I swear-!" Skipper's sentence cut short when Rico emerged into the room, curious on what all the fuss was about by the look of his puzzled expression. Skipper glanced back at Kowalski only to find him shrunk down closer with agonizingly big puppy dog eyes. 

"For science.." He whispered in an attempting-to-be-irresistible tone. 

Harshly shoving him off was Skipper's first reaction, but the second was still unsure. He opened his mouth to oppose the idea, yet it fell shut a few more times before he answered with a stern nod. "Ughhh, fine! If it'll keep you SANE." 

Kowalski shouted a rather vigorous "yes!" in triumph. Puppy dog eyes had never failed him. 

"I need at least two of you, and since Rico's already here I don't see why we can't just test it on you both!" Suddenly in a prideful yet playful tone he rocked back and forth on his feet in anticipation. Kowalski obviously enjoying watching their expressions twist, creating a smug grin on his face he couldn't suppress. 

"Whoaaa, hold your horses mister. Just because we're here doesn't mean we volunteered." Skipper had scoffed, crossing his flippers once again in disapproval.

Kowalski shrugged with an unflattering snort, "good thing for democracy then!" Suddenly he laser targeted Rico who had yelled back furiously with his flippers balled into tight fists. 

"Democracy? Wait, we never voted-!" Skipper had charged at him, a rather unsuccessful attempt as Kowalski had shot him bullseye in head. Maybe out of spite, he couldn't have told as he fell backwards, landing flat on his bum with wide eyes. 

Rico lifted a flipper in front of his beak gasping lightly, "uh oh." 

Waddling closer Kowalski looked at Rico unfazed, "medical supplies, if you will Rico." He Nodded slowly and spat out a pair of rubber gloves, sending them towards Kowalski. With slight adjustment to the fit over his flippers he examined Skippers dazed baby blues, his irises swirling in something Kowalski couldn't quite identify. But with one firm slap across the face Skipper snapped out his trance, shaking his head wildly before abruptly jumping onto his feet in a hurry.

Skipper wobbled momentarily uneasy, mumbling something inaudible before tilting his head upwards to Kowalski. "Say...do you, happen to know uh, where Rico is?" He looked tired, drained of any spirit left in him as he talked slowly, yet a hopeful look grazed his features. A hidden excitement awaiting within him as he intensely stared down the scientist. 

Rico had taken that as his cue to leave. He wasn't all sure what that damn invention did, but if it was anything like he witnessed last time he wanted no part in it. Because he knew once those brainwashed suckers got sight of you, there was no turning back...

And that's EXACTLY why Rico promised to end Kowalski's pathetic being after he had tried to sneak out of the lab when with absolutely no sign of regret or sympathy Kowalski had pointed him out from across the room. Putting on full display his smuggest smile when he heard Skipper gasping, and without the slightest ounce of hesitation, bolted straight for him.

Rico sighed, knowing that he was now a sitting duck waiting for it's demise. "Oh c'mon..." 

Today was going to be a very long day, and Kowalski couldn't be any happier.
