#or turn said copied powers into new attacks
Text
Halloween prompts year 2, day 1
Danny had no idea what he was doing. There. He admitted it. He had found a book of spells that reminded him of Sam and stole it on instinct. He didn't have much money after running away. He didn't even have the chance to grab one of his Go Bags as his parents fired on him.
Good news was that ghost powers made it very easy to steal stuff. Now with a book that has actual magic spells in it? He'd never go hungry again! It was kinda weird though. New dimension or not he didn't think a grocery store would sell multiple copies of spellbooks just out in the open like this. They were clearly new and a product or modern manufacturing so it wasn't like it was some ancient relic or anything.
Hmm. A mystery for later then. In the meantime he was going to go around Gotham turning rogues and random jerks into frogs! It went pretty well. There was a mass Arkham breakout not too long ago and Danny was having an absolute blast sneaking up and froggifying people while wearing a cheap glittery devil masquerade mask. Once suitable frogged he trapped them in a magic bubble and left them on the rooftops for the bats to find.
This went awry however when one of the local vigilantes, Robin, tried to attack him from above. On reflex he turned Robin into a frog and freaked out, "Okay. Crud. Okay. I can fix this!" He said while picking up the tiny vigilante, "Just promise not to hurt me and i'll turn you back!"
The angry ribbiting told him that the vigilante would agree to no such thing, "In that case," Danny used his ghost powers to make a human sized ice cage and placed the frog inside. The cages bars were thin but sturdy. It would take Robin only a few good hits to break out of it but by that time the mysterious magic user would have had a head start.
Unfortunately, Danny had just started the spell that would turn Damian back when one of his siblings, Tim, got the jump on him...and got similarly froggy for it. Now there were two frogged bats and a startled magic user.
Danny looked up at the rooftops to see more and more bats staring at him. And the just froggified Red Robin. And the frog version of regular Robin. In a cage. This looked bad. After dodging a batarang Danny apologized to the frogs and quickly yelled, "Not today satan!" At batman before dropping a smoke bomb and teleporting away.
Later at the batcave Damian and Tim were placed in different enclosures to keep their new forms healthy and to prevent any frog on frog violence as they sort this out. At first they thought this was a meta who could turn people into frogs but that was quickly ruled out due to Damian and Tim both typing on devices and telling them about the ice powers.
Thus begins Danny's attempts to find the frogged siblings and turn them back before he gets stabbed by an angry bird and Robin and Red Robins attempts to escape to find this magic user cause it was clear that he had cursed them by accident and had wanted to turn them back right away.
They're family keeps trying to stop them though saying its too dangerous to go out as a frog and they don't know what that magic users intentions were. They didn't really have much choice however seeing at Constantine couldn't help them.
The trench coated brit and said this magic was like nothing he had ever felt before and he would have to do some research. Which lead to the boys swinging across rooftops as amphibians and probably making more than a few people question what was in thier coffee.

First Dance
Announcements: I have a requests box open on my profile! (I think... I’m still working on how tumblr works). I write for MHA, Harry Potter, Attack on Titan and Naruto so feel free to send me some requests!!
Summary: You’ve known Bakugou since your UA days but at the alumni dance things feel a little different between you two. Flashbacks included. Bakugou pov mostly.
Warnings: Fluff! Fem reader. Pining.
WORDCOUNT: 2254
***
Bakugo tried to loosen his tie, it was hot in the dance hall. It was good to see Class 1A back together again, even if he would never admit it. Class 1B on the other hand... damn he wanted to strangle that pompous straw haired copy cat Monoma. He took a deep breath and focused back on the group he was talking to.
Kirishima was talking animatedly to Shoji, one arm around Mina. They took a while to get together after graduation but Bakugo was glad it happened, he was tired of hearing Kirishima pine after her. Half and Half was busy talking to invisichick Hagakure and Sero. Denki was scheming in a corner with Mineta and slowly Bakugo’s gaze glided around the circle, over Jirou and right onto you. He felt a tightness in his chest and for some reason the room felt warmer.
Damn it. He thought he was over this stupid crush. It had been three years since graduation and he hadn’t seen you at all since you just came back from doing work overseas. He hadn’t gotten the chance to speak to you since your return. He had kept putting it off. His eyes lingered on you, your smile and that stupid dress you were wearing.
Although you were deep in conversation with your old friend Jirou, you couldn’t help but feel someone’s gaze on you. Your eyes slide from Jirou’s face, over her shoulder and you make eye contact with Bakugo. In the time you had been gone, you heard that he had been climbing the charts and was now the #2 hero, right behind Midoriya. You had never really gotten over your high school crush on Bakugo and you received notifications on your phone anytime a news story came out with his name on it. You felt your cheeks turn red under his gaze and quickly turned your attention back to Jirou.
“Something on your mind?” Bakugo had been so focused on you that he hadn’t noticed Kirishima walk right up to him and started looking back and forth between Bakugo and you.
“FUCK! Shitty hair! You can’t just walk up unannounced. I could have blown you to bits...”
“C’mon man! Just go talk to her.”
“I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.”
“Don’t be like that Bakugo... remember the last time we were at something like this?”
“No.”
He said no but Bakugo had been beating himself up for three years over it.
---
It was the graduation dance. The last night before everyone started going their own separate ways. Bakugo had plans to go to Tokyo and start his own hero agency right away. You on the other hand had plans to work overseas and “pay back” in a sense, the foreign powers that helped Japan during its struggle with All For One. You wouldn’t be gone forever, just three years, however there was a certain someone you were hoping would try to make you stay. If he had asked, you would have stayed.
The party had lasted forever. You had danced all night until you had to take your shoes off because your feet were so sore. The girls kept you busy all night with the usual scheming, gossip, photos, bathroom trips and of course the group dancing. You were gonna miss these girls. You couldn’t think about it or you would start crying. Bakugo on the other hand was acting strangely tonight. He kept walking close to you, acting like he had something to say but then you would make eye contact and he would frown and walk away. You wondered if you had done something to piss him off... Well whatever it was, you might never know. Your flight left in two hours and your ride to the airport was on its way. You heard a slow song start and instead of awkwardly waiting around for someone to ask you to dance, you decided to slip out of the dance and wait for your ride. You might not be able to handle all of the goodbyes anyways.
At some point in the night Bakugo couldn’t find you. He had been working up the courage to ask you to slow dance all night. He requested three slow songs already. For the first one he just couldn’t get the words out and ended up telling you that you had something on your face. The second time that stupid bird asked you to dance and Bakugo just had to sit and watch from the side of the dance hall. He finally convinced the DJ to give him one more slow song and now you were nowhere to be found. Bakugo was scanning the room looking for you and just before he could give up, Ochako walked right up to him and asked him to dance. He reluctantly accepted.
“It’s going to be so weird not seeing everyone together anymore. I don’t think I’m ready.” Ochako was trying to make small talk but Bakugo could barely hear her. He was focused on finding you out in the crowd.
“I’m surprised you didn’t ask Y/N to dance...” Ochako said slyly.
“Huh??” Bakugo’s attention snapped back down to her.
“I mean, you like her right? Everyone says you like her.”
“Tchh.” Bakugo looked away but his ears turned red. He didn’t know how everyone knew but he was gonna kill Shitty Hair if he found out he was the leak.
“She left you know.”
“What?” Again his attention was 100% on Ochako.
“She slipped out when the song started. She’s probably on the way to the airport soon.”
“Already?” Bakugo felt the blood drain out of his face. He wasn’t ready. He hadn’t asked you to dance yet. He hadn’t told you that you looked pretty in your dress, he hadn’t asked you to walk through the gardens with him, he hadn’t had the opportunity to finally confess to you... to maybe kiss you.
“Go get her.” Ochako had stopped dancing.
Bakugo looked down at her a little stunned.
“Go! Go get your girl Dynamight!” She said it louder and caught the attention of others. Kirishima stopped dancing with Mina and looked over to Bakugo.
“WELL? Go after her!” Mina shouted.
“C’mon think like a man!” Kirishima added.
“Ooh! It would be so romantic!” Momo said enthusiastically.
“SHUT IT!” Bakugo yelled but he was already running out of the doors.
The brisk night air hit his face as he catapulted himself out of the dance hall and headed towards the front gates.
“Damnit! This is taking too long!”
Bakugo stripped off his jacket and tie and threw them behind him onto the dirt path. He rolled up his sleeves and used his quirk to catapult himself into the air. He blasted his way to the front gates in less than two minutes and just in time.
You were about to get into the car. You had the passenger door open when Bakugo fell out of the sky and skidded to a stop right at the UA gates. His hair was disheveled and he was wiping his hands on his pants. Your heart skipped a beat.
“Y/N!”
“Bakugo?”
Reality caught up to Bakugo in that moment. He didn’t know what to say... “Come back and dance with me.”?? That would be ridiculous.
“Uhh... I... are you... leaving?” He managed to force out some words, some question, even if that question had a million other questions behind it.
“Yeah...” You gave him a confused look. Wasn’t it obvious?
“Oh. Off to the States right away then?”
“My flight leaves in like two hours.”
“Right. Well, I just wanted to say...” Bakugo was at war with himself. He had to say he was afraid. He had faced villains on very power level but somehow this was more terrifying then every one of those encounters combined. He wanted to say so many things,
“I’ve loved you ever since I met you! I wanted to dance with you! Your dress looks amazing! I’ve admired you as a student as a hero but mostly as a person. You’re beautiful inside and out! You were the first to be kind to me and I want to protect your kindness for the rest of my life! AND MOST OF ALL I DON’T WANT YOU TO LEAVE!!”
But Bakugo didn’t say any of those things.
“You wanted to say...?” You asked. Bakugo had stopped in the middle of his sentence and was giving you a wide eyed look.
“Yeah I just wanted to say... good luck.” He opened his mouth again as though to add on, but he snapped it shut again.
“Oh...well...” You can’t say you weren’t disappointed. But it was always a naïve hope that Bakugo might share your feelings. You quickly smiled to cover your disappointment.
Bakugo watched as you smiled and ran towards him throwing your arms around his neck. He felt the breath leave his body and his arms clamped around your waist and he buried his face in your shoulder.
“Thank you Bakugo.” and with that you were leaving his arms, getting into the car and slipping away.
---
Bakugo had spent the last three years replaying everything that went wrong that night. He had tried to move on, he went on so many dates in the first year that he lost count. But he never could make it to the second date. He tried focusing on his career and he rose pretty quickly after he gave up on dating. But it was hard, playing wingman for Kirishima and Kaminari, being a groomsman at Izuku and Ochako’s wedding and watching you post about your foreign adventures, only wishing he could be there with you. It made his blood boil thinking about all the people you could be meeting who might catch your interest. All because he was too afraid to make a move that night.
“You do.” Bakugo’s attention snapped back to the present as Kirishima said this. Bakugo merely scoffed.
“I know you remember Bakugo. You got so wasted afterwards and all you could do was whine about how you let her go. Actually... it’s the only thing you talk about after you get drunk...”
“Shut up or I’ll shut you up Red.” Bakugo warned.
“Alright... But I’m gonna ask the DJ for a slow song and if you don’t ask her to dance I’m gonna tell everyone about that time two years ago you fought that laughing gas villain and-” Kirishima couldn’t finish his sentence because he had to dodge Bakugo’s oncoming blow and run to the DJ’s table before Bakugo could catch him.
Damnit. Bakugo watched as Kirishima talked animatedly to the DJ and pointed to his phone. The music started playing moments later. Kirishima was right though. Tonight he wouldn’t mess up and let you slip away again. He turned and found you still talking to Jirou, right where he left you. He strode over to you, blatantly interrupting your conversation and held out his hand.
“Dance with me.”
You looked up at him with a look of shock and he realized he still had no sense of tact even after all these years. Your shock faded into a grin and he felt relief flood his body.
“Alright.” You took his hand and he pulled you in and slid his other arm around your waist. You began to sway to the music and everything else seemed to fade away.
“How was your time away?” Bakugo asked his head tilting down.
“It was amazing! Oh you would have loved it! There was so many things to see, so many landmarks and museums! I learned so much! Oh and I met a lot of people too!” Your face lit up as you spoke.
“Oh really?” Bakugo felt his heart drop at that last part.
“Yeah! I wished- I mean I wish you were there to see it.”
“Hah, maybe next time princess...”
“Princess? Are you saying I look like a princess?”
Bakugo turned red.
“You wish y/n.”
“Oh come on, is it so hard to say I look good? I put some effort in you know.”
“Tchh..”
You were both silent. You didn’t know what to say next. Maybe you flirted a little too much with him. You were just so excited to see him again, you couldn’t help it!
“You don’t look good.”
“What?!”
“You look great.” Bakugo said blushing and avoiding eye contact. You leaned up so your lips were close to his ear.
“You look pretty great yourself.”
Bakugo couldn’t help it. A shiver went down his body and he could feel his face turn as red as a tomato. He stopped dancing. He pulled back and looked at you.
“Y/n...”
Then he leaned down, his hand cupping your face and he gazed into your eyes as if asking for permission. Permission which you gave. Suddenly his lips were on yours and he was kissing you. He was kissing you like he was drinking up your soul, pulling your face up into his, his lips surprisingly tender. He handled you like you were precious. It was nothing like how you imagined kissing Bakugo would be but it was amazing. You broke off the kiss when you started hearing the cheers.
“Man we’ve been waiting forever for you guys to do that!” Sero yelled across all the cheering.
Bakugo didn’t even care. He just grinned down at you.
“You’re telling me Soy Sauce...” Bakugo said but only loud enough for you to hear.

The Pagon Prologue: Brick by Brick
Read the first part here
Not stopping at the military operatives, Pagon asked for more manpower to be utilized to infiltrate Russian criminal society in order to fund the establishment of New Skrullos in a way that is less track-able by the government in Moscow. It's a process of starting to build their ideal temporary home brick by brick, and after the groundwork with the military, they need to stretch out their control a bit further
Posing as the decorated General, Pagon strut his way to meet an old friend of the General that went rogue and eventually worked for a criminal oligarch.
Tumblr media
The friend would never expect that it was all just a ruse by the manipulative Skrull as he got hauled and then locked away in the Fracking Pod where a Skrull operative named Zirksu took his likeness and absorbed his memories to infiltrate deeper amongst the criminal underworld
Just like wildfires, the Skrull moved swiftly and decisively, targeting oligarch from various background that they found necessary to support the success of their operation. Starting from the commander's best friend boss who owned sprawling construction empire and illicit drug trafficking mixed with it named Wassily Kirilenko. He was in the middle of his workout in his private gym when his very own right hand man who spotted his bench press suddenly shape shifted right in front of his eyes and pressed the heavy weight to crush his body. After telling fellow Skrulls he brought along that already infiltrated the innermost security detail of the oligarch to dispose the real body, he checked himself in the mirror and flexed his newfound affinity for big tattooed muscle and the insane thirst for power and control
Tumblr media
Skrull love to toy around with their target and taunted them to the maximum pain before locking them away in the Fracking Pods or outright killing them. Just like how Nuro taunted Maxim Yagudin, a former KGB spy turned telco oligarch, on how Yagudin is not that smart after all for being easily tricked by a shapeshifting alien half his size.
Tumblr media
"Let's see later how you got so rich, bro. I have theory in my mind that it's all about nepotism and being an eye-candy for an influential widow with wide connection from what I read about you, but I'll know every single thing about you without you even saying a single word anyway.....so.....keep your mouth shut," he said before choking him close to his death to make him unconscious
But all in all, the infiltration of the criminal oligarch can be qualified as a successful operation. Not only they raised so much more capital to support the cause, now they have wide range of services they can use and manipulate to further wreck havoc among human. For example, he might look young, but Gennady Tatishvili is a real danger with his 10,000 well-armed militia that he inherited from his father
Tumblr media
The Skrull operative that is directed to pose as him cornered him to the en-suite bathroom in his own sprawling mansion where he met his demise after a heart attack for being so goddamn terrified when he witnessed the Skrull shapeshifted from a woman he's about to fuck to a perfect replica of himself. A portable fracking devices he brought along proven to be handy as he copied all Gennady's memory before leaving the real body unattended in his own pool of pee and sweat, a tragic end to an up and coming oligarch overlord. The plan on his militia is to basically do Gravik's dirty work without sacrificing Skrull operatives in the process
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, there's this trio of gun manufacturer and also owner of various exclusive restaurant, clubs and gyms across Russia and its former Soviet area. Gravik simply want to have endless gun supply to support his causes to wage war among humans and what better way other than seizing the control in its production to do just that. The high-end chain of entertainment spots can also work wonder for the Skrulls as it will ease transportation process of goods to remain illicit and untraceable. Plus, the spots are well-known among the 1% so it's a perfect breeding ground to get more shells if necessary. The 3 man are related because the first two (Aleksander Samsonov and Boris Samsonov) are step-brother from the same father while the last one (Jurij Alimov) is an in-law that entered the family through marriage with the eldest child and only daughter of the Samsonov family. They were kidnapped as their dinner already spiked with sedatives that can knock an elephant within minutes, and they all fell flat to their plates of privately-catered food in the confine of their own home not even a minute after their first bite. They never wake up during the transfer of their body to the continously-developing Skrulls operation base and once they lined up to the fracking pods, Skrull operatives already await to replicate them and returned right away to their estate in order to not raise any suspicion
Usually, before these operatives went out of their way to live life as humans for God knows how long, Pagon as the Acting General of New Skrullos will test the operatives loyalty and dedication to the cause. Ibragim Musayev is a high-ranked Chechen officials that the Skrulls decided to target since he has close connection with some scientist that would be beneficial for the Skrulls cause, and obviously, Chechen militia (do we need to spell this out?). As the Skrull operatives finished changing into Musayev, Pagon asked him to stand straight and interrogate him
"What's your name?"
"Warrior,"
Tumblr media
"What's your fight?"
"Skrullos,"
"What's your dream?"
"Home.....in my own skin,"
"Your enemy is?"
"Humans, of all kind, sir,"
"Can you assure me your utmost dedication to the cause and will not let any humane distraction swerved you from the goal?"
"Yes I can, sir,"
"Well, let the time talk on that. Remember warrior, no spot, no flaw. You're Ibragim Musayev now and there's no going back unless I or Gravik tell you to,"
And just like that, the 260 lbs 6'5" mass monster of a military commander just walk right out to the next room to pick up his clothings, ready to straighten up some unruly Chechen fighters under his command and see how beneficial the scientific community he has close ties with can be leveraged and utilized for the cause of his people

Part of Tqmies 1K Event!
Office Romance Au , 11. “I think you and I make an amazingly stupid pair.” “I know! Our two brain cells combined together make for quality entertainment and a unique kind of stupidity.”  wc: 765 Note: oh to be in a stupid office romance with mark..
"Can you not do that to the coffee machine?" You groan, banging the printer next to you as you spot Mark in the break room.
"No, it's working! And just cause you hit the printer, doesn't mean it will work!" Mark shouts back. He continues to shake the coffee machine in hopes that it will 'brew the coffee faster' - Which has never helped.
Though you assume the same could be said about you as Doyoung, your supervisor, walks by and stops you from attacking the poor HP printer that was trying it's best. He sighs, leaning down to press a simple button, and just like that, the machine whirs to life.
"Oh cool, thanks Doyoung! You have like, magic hands." You nod, eyes wide like a child in amazement.
"It's called using the power button, Y/N."
"Yeah but I thought Taeyong had turned it on earlier." You blink.
He shoots you a unwavering look. "It auto-shuts off when it isn't being used for too long."
"Well that's dumb, we should get a new printer."
"This is the most high tech printer in the - Nevermind, forget it." Doyoung just shakes his head and walks off, not listening to your qualms about the electronic. Oh well, he was just going to miss out on your great ideas.
You can hear Mark snickering from behind you as you watch your boss walk away, defeatedly.
Crossing your arms, you continue to make the copies. Mark approaches you, steaming cup of coffee in hand as he looks flustered.
"What's wrong with you?" You ask, sliding the copies into your hands.
"I burned my hand after some coffee spilled out from me shaking the machine so much." He admits, and you notice his hand looking very red.
"Are we both idiots or?"
"Yeah." He nods, and you agree.
"You're dumber though." You respond, smirking.
"What!? You forgot to press the on button! Rookie mistake." He grimaces, sipping from his mug as he mutters a soft ouch at moving his hand.
"Well, I'm new here!"
"Okay, that excuse might've worked the first couple weeks but you've been working here for nine months, and yet you still say that."
"Taeil has short-term memory loss so he believes me." You smile at him. "Plus, nine months is nothing compared to the three years you've been here."
"How I've managed to even stay here that long is a mystery." He speaks to himself.
"I agree, seeing as we're here talking in the corner like we don't have work to do."
Mark quirks his head to the side and is about to respond when Johnny approaches the two of you. "Are you done heckling the printer?"
"Nope, I think it needed one more good kick." You respond, and Johnny laughs before he uses it.
"I heard what you guys were talking about and let me just say, I think Doyoung keeps you two around because you're entertaining." Johnny mentions, waiting for his papers.
You and Mark turn to each other, almost in sync, and laugh. "Thanks Johnny."
Though Johnny definitely didn't mean it in that kind of way, if anything, everyone mostly found the fact that you two still had jobs entertaining.
Like how did dumb and dumber manage to hold down positions at Neo Corporate Tech?
You turn to Mark, "You know what? I think you and I make an amazingly stupid pair.”
“I know! Our two brain cells combined together make for quality entertainment and a unique kind of stupidity.” Mark jumps.
"What a perfect match." You giggle, flashing him a smile.
"That's why I have such a big crush on you." He speaks, before slapping his hands over his mouth as you assume he let it slip.
"Oh." You say, staring in shock.
Really? Oh? You couldn't think of anything else?
Johnny quietly slips out from behind you both as you continue to stand wordlessly.
"I didn't really mean that-" He tries to turn it around as he stutters.
"You didn't?" Your face falls.
"No I mean, I did! If you like me back that is, if you don't then.. I don't either." He rambles on, face turning cherry red.
The rest of your co-workers watching from afar. They're hoping and praying you two didn't act as stupid about love too.
"I like you too." You admit, face growing hot over the dumb male that was your cubicle neighbor.
"Really? I thought you had a crush on Doyoung!"
"Doyoung?" Your jaw drops. "He barely says more than two words to me, and when he does? It's usually to just mansplain instructions to me."
Mark looks confused. "Hey, he does that to me too? Does that mean... I have a crush on him?"
"No Mark- No! You have a crush on me!"

(22/54) “Dr. Ameli was elected to parliament in the same election, and was chosen by his peers for a leadership position. He was a unifying figure. A man without enemies. His words never cut. He attacked philosophies; never people. And he was one of the best speakers in parliament. He didn’t use slogans. He spoke with depth. And somehow, no matter how specific the policy, or how divisive the issue, he always came back to a place of unity. Our common destiny as a people. On the morning our first budget was presented Dr. Ameli approached me in the halls of parliament. He asked if I planned to give a speech. I told him I did not, because I had no specific objections. He leaned close to my ear, and with a soft voice he said: ‘Still, you must speak. To separate yourself from the system.’ That night I slept on a rug on the floor of parliament, and first thing in the morning I placed myself on the calendar of speakers. When my turn came I walked down the aisle toward the podium. My knees felt weak. There is a magnitude to speaking in parliament, a consciousness of history. I’ve never been a natural speaker. I’m never the one chosen to give a toast at parties. But if I believe a statement is true, I can say it. No matter how big the stage. Truth has power. Truth has a force. 𝘕𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘰. It doesn’t come from the tongue, it comes from within. And the moment I take my place at the podium: it’s like a spring has been sprung. That day I spoke about justice. 𝘋𝘢𝘢𝘥. I said that justice in society begins with justice in our budget. There was a proposal in the budget to build a new telephone system in one of Tehran’s nicest neighborhoods. I reminded the parliament that there were entire villages without a single phone. I said: ‘Before we give the wealthy a phone by every bedside, let us give a phone to every village.’ It was one of the most forceful speeches I’ve ever given. But there was no mention in the media; criticism of the government was not allowed. I at least wanted a copy for my own records. There was a person in parliament who transcribed everything, so I asked them for a copy of my speech. But they told me it was not allowed. They would not even give me my own words.”

Waking up to wet sheets you knew, you just knew things were going to be bad down there. Tears stung your eyes as you carefully slipped out of the sheets trying not to wake you girlfriends. You knew you would have to. After all the sheets needed changing. But you were sacred they would be mad. Your mother would be if she were still here. Carefully you pulled off your ruined shorts and underwear and stepped into the showed. Watching the blood swirl down the drain. After about fifteen minutes the door opened. Nat came in taking in the sight of your soiled clothes and teary eyes, which hadn’t yet seen her enter. She turned off the water and tilted your chin, so your eyes faced hers. “Sweetheart its ok.”
The tears fell. “We’re not mad my love, I’ve changed the sheets and I’ll soak your clothes for you.”
Nat pulled you in for a hug making you squirm.
“B-but its gross and I’m sorry.”
“Sweetheart it’s not gross, I don’t care where the blood comes from as long as your ok.” Nat smiled kissing your lips gently.
“Come on lets get you dressed my heart.” Wanda smiled holding up a new change of clothes and a pad.
After slipping you into the fluffy Pjs, Nat scooped you up and carried you to the bed. Wanda handed you the remote and you put on Chicago Pd and curled up with the two girls.
The cramps hit about twenty minutes later. Pulling a face and your knees to your chest, you tried not to make a big deal of it. Of course Nat noticed. She ran a hand through your hair making you look at her again.
“Oh sweetheart.” She cooed making Wanda look away from the show.
“Honey do you want some painkillers?”
You nodded shyly and buried your head in Wanda’s chest. A minute later Nat returned with the small packet of pills and a glass of water. After taking them and snuggling back up, you went back to your movie day.
It was about three hours later all of you were asleep when Wanda woke up. She felt her thigh, which you were cuddled up to, grow damp. Looking down she saw a growing red patch. Carefully she woke Nat and the two tried to figure out the best way to inform you. Yet you slept on.
“She’s going to be upset Nat.” Wanda whispered, more concerned for you than her leg.
“Its ok, we need to wake her up and change her again.”
“Yeah.” Wanda sighed in defeat. With a gentle hand she shook you shoulder. Cooing at he small sleepy face you made as you brushed the sleep from your eyes.
“Baby, wake up” Wanda whispered
“you need to get changed my love.” Nat cooed.
Your eyes snapping open, you looked down, feeling the dampness.
“Wands i-im so sorry” you stammered pulling away, tears rolling down your cheeks. Before either of them could react you hopped up and ran into the bathroom, locking the door. The two of them could hear your sobs as you lost touch with reality.
The soft knocking on the door turned to banging as you heard your mother yelling at you.
“Look what you’ve done now you brat.”
Breaths came short and fast as you struggled to breathe. The pain in your abdomen tightening as you felt more blood coat your legs. Your head spun.
Where were Nat and Wanda?
After hearing your breathing shorten, Wanda made the decision, using her powers she undid the lock and the two girls looked into the small room. You sat in the corner shaking and struggling the breathe.
Carefully Wanda approached you, your thoughts loud, she knew what was happening. Carefully she took you hand in hers, drawing circles on your palm.
“Baby, honey look at me.” Your eyes met her green ones, still looking frantic.
“Your not there. Your not there anymore. She’s gone, love. She can’t hurt you anymore.”
“Copy my breathing love.” Nat said squatting by your other side. Wanda showered your with praise and love while you shakily drew a deep breath with Nat’s guidance.
After your breathing settled, Wanda picked you up under the arms and hoisted you onto the counter, where she stripped your soiled clothes for the second time that day. Your cheeks turned dark red as you looked at the puddle of blood you left on the floor. Which Nat had begun to clean. Carefully Wanda pulled your chin so your face was pointed at hers, and not at Nat.
“No. Love, eyes on me. Don’t worry about what Natty doing.” Your eyes were downcast as she tilted your head with her thumb. “Where are those beautiful eyes my sweet girl.” When your eyes met hers she smiled kindly at you.
“Now do you want me to shower with you?” The words had no deeper meaning, she simply offered the comfort.
You shook your head. Making her frown.
“Why not, love?”
“Don’t wanna make you dirty” both girls froze. Nat looked up.
“Oh my heart, your not dirty. And Wanda needs a shower as well now.” Nat cooed.
Your heart rate picked up as you remembered her leg.
“No. No. None of that now.” Wanda shushed, stripped her clothes and pulling you into the shower. Nat went to find more painkillers, not missing the grimace when Wanda had picked you up.
After another shower and change, all three of you were laid on the bed again.
You picked absently-mindedly at the sheets loose threads as Wanda and Nat watched you. Tears pricked your eyes as you felt more blood bleed out. Wanda kissed your knuckles and Nat pulled you in for a hug.
“We love you sweetheart. Now go to sleep.”
Periods sucked, but at least you weren’t alone. You had the two best girlfriends you could ever ask for.

Erm, Lich Scarab AU upon ye
Tumblr media
Basically, the Lich possesses Scarab and uses Scarab’s powers and status to try and kill everything in every universe, and the entirety of F&C is the Lich steadily becoming more unstable and using the guise of gathering evidence against Prismo to try and complete his eradication goal :3
More art, some beta designs, and a complete au dump under cut!!
This is all copied from my rant in a discord server 😭
So, from what I’ve seen, it’s like the Lich can possess/manipulate people with unstable emotions or who are disillusioned with the world around them. Scarab, being a god auditor, often has to travel to different dimensions to track down wayward cosmic entities, and it’s canon (? The wiki said so) that the Lich can share memories between different dimensional variants of himself.
So basically, in some universes, Snail Lich sees this cosmic entity that’s just furious at everything and starts scheming. Basically, it starts stalking him the moment it senses he arrives in a dimension, and feeds off the negative energy. He then uses this energy to become more powerful, and eventually, in one universe the Lich breaks free and just beelines it towards Scarab
Don’t get me wrong, Scarab is a brutally efficient god auditor but he also does have a bit of a superiority complex and easily dismisses the threat that the Lich poses. He just goes about his job, disguised, until a Lich possessed old man asks disguised Scarab for some help with a chore
Scarab, wanting to keep his cover, reluctantly agrees, and then is ambushed by the old man turned Lich, who possess him in turn (and it’s canon that the Lich can, on some level, possess cosmic entities, as seen w/ New Death)
Course, because Scarab is a cosmic entity, he doesn’t die when he gets possessed, he just gets shoved into a dark corner of his mind and body. He’s like, freaking out, trying to rationalize to himself on how he was tricked so easily, and the Lich is like having a blast with a high ranked cosmic entity as a puppet/vessel
He also uses Scarab’s shapeshifter abilities to his complete advantage, and just parades around as Scarab. And, well, if other gods notice Scarab acting a bit more erratically, and if his eyes glow more green than red, and he’s quieter and more calculated, it’s just Scarab doing his job, right? Nobody really likes Scarab, anyway, so why do they care?
The only one who really notices that Scarab is Not Actually Scarab is Prismo, bcuz he got killed by the Lich before, and he can recognize that energy even if the Lich is putting on a perfect performance of a god auditor, inspecting him for some faulty readings (that being Fionna, Cake, and Simon)
Basically, the reason why Scarab was so fucking bonkers during the entire Fionna and Cake series was cuz of the Lich bending his body to the absolute limit trying to figure out how to properly take over the Time Room and eradicate every single living thing in all universes.
And during the Golbetty scene, Lich Scarab watches himself get cubized by Golb, does the whole attacking Simon before crawling into his head, and then just loses his mind in Fionna’s world
His drops the Scarab disguise and reveals the Lich face, along with his patchwork of other disguises and bones and stuff, and just goes ham on killing Fionna’s world
It’s not until another cosmic entity shows up and forcibly removes the Lich from Scarab that he gets complete control of his mind and body back, and while he’s back to “normal” he’s scarred pretty badly and has to step down as god auditor.
Prismo kinda takes pity on him and asks Orbo if Scarab can become a Wishmaster and Orbo is like “yea sure mate” and it actually really helps Scarab bcuz being out of his pain ridden body and being simplified does wonder to the mental health ya know
Not exactly Prohibitedwish but also they’re a lot more friendly with each other than in canon cuz Scarab owes Prismo for saving him from terrible pain
Scarab’s body does eventually get healed over the course of a few hundred years so by the time it’s like, mostly okay, Scarab wouldn’t be in pain for every time he moved. His body is still scarred badly, and his disguises share those scars, but yea!!
Also special shout out to Lily cuz she gave me Ideas >:3

Inspired by @txttletale 's post, I decided to try my hand at making a custom V1 magic card.
Card Transcription
V1, Marksmachine 2UBR Legendary Artifact Creature - Construct Coin Toss - Whenever V1 attacks, defending player creates four tapped Treasure tokens. Untap them at end of combat. Marksman - You may choose Treasures as targets as though they were creatures or players. Ricoshot - Whenever you cast a spell that targets a single Treasure, destroy all Treasures, then change the target of that spell. Copy that spell for each Treasure destroyed this way. You may choose new targets for the copies. 3/3
End Transcription
Art Link
Here are some design notes:
This is a top-down design meant to translate the Marksman weapon from Ultrakill. It allows you to toss up to four coins, which ricochet bullets shot at them.
This is meant as a combat-trick focused commander, allowing you to clear the way for V1 by copying removal spells. That said, there is an alternate approach in making your own Treasure tokens and copying more powerful spells at sorcery speed.
Yes, you can use this to take extra turns.
The flavor words match with in-game terms and are meant to help in parsing which parts of the card do what.
Coin Toss: V1 can toss up to four coins at a time in-game and they deactivate upon hitting the ground, which is translated as untapping them. The opponent can use the Treasures as they wish after that.
Marksman: I'm somewhat unhappy with this flavor word, but I couldn't find an in-game term that fit this better. The wording and effect of this ability is novel, and I had to extrapolate the wording from [[Know Evil]] (fantastic card, that)
Ricoshot: This is the in-game term for ricocheted bullets. I had to refer to a whole bunch of different cards to make this ability parse well, but I'm happy with it.
Overall this card is very wordy, but has one less word than [[Tom Bombadil]] so I'm in the clear :)

Pokemon Card of the Day #3130: Pikachu & Zekrom-GX (Team Up)
Tumblr media
Pikachu & Zekrom-GX was given almost everything a card could ask for. There were ways to accelerate Energy early on, making a big turn 2 hit very possible. Said attack also got even more Energy from the deck and into play. The GX attack was not only strong, but Energy stacking could let it hit two Pokemon at once. There were also ways to boost damage here due to being a Lightning-type. It was like they built the format for this card. On top of that, they put Pikachu on it, making sure the mascot of the series got serious play. This is not to say that Pikachu & Zekrom-GX was by any means unstoppable, as other very good Tag Teams existed and there were viable decks beyond that. It is probably quite obvious that this card would at minimum be a threat for quite some time due to just how much help they gave it.
Pikachu & Zekrom-GX was actually on the lower end of Tag Team HP numbers, coming in at 240. This was still going to have the same result a lot of the time, but it did do things like save an Energy for Blacephalon or Turtonator, as well as letting Zoroark-GX get the 2-hit KO if fully set up. A Fighting Weakness occasionally mattered for the short time where Buzzwole was still hanging around. It also mattered just before this card rotated out with the rise of Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX, a card that could get a clean KO and do 120 to something on the Bench. The Metal Resistance was there, but it did not actually prevent an ADP boost from letting Zacian V reach a big KO. The Retreat Cost here was 3, and being a bulky Pokemon that gave up 3 Prizes meant that this was quite notable. Most decks running this card ran a few copies of Switch, with some going all the way to 4. This worked well with the combination of big HP and the ability to get Energy onto a new attacker while still making progress.
Full Blitz was a spectacular attack. 150 damage for 3 Lightning Energy would have been solid even by itself. Tapu Koko Prism Star or Boltund V could help get a 2 turn set-up for this, making the deck rather quick. It somehow got even better from there. You also got to search your deck for up to 3 Lightning Energy and attached them to 1 of your Pokemon. This could power up a second Pikachu & Zekrom-GX, or could go to another partner like Raichu & Alolan Raichu-GX, Boltund V, or Vikavolt V. This was generally set up to take down multi-Prize Pokemon in 2 hits, and single Prize Pokemon right away, but you could use Electropower to get a big KO in an important spot since the power was good enough to get close a lot of the time.
Tag Bolt GX did take up the team's GX attack, which did mean giving up the giant hit that Raichu & Alolan Raichu-GX provided if running that too. It was still very good, and if not up against another Tag Team it tended to be the better GX attack. The base was 200 damage for 3 Energy, which was in a nice spot to take down 2 Prize Pokemon. If 3 more Energy on top of that were attached, it also did 170 damage to 1 of the opponent's Benched Pokemon, potentially getting another KO in the process if Mew wasn't there to protect everything. Getting a big hit on 2 Pokemon could be game changing, even if it did require sticking a ton of Energy on one Pokemon. The strategy could definitely work considering how Full Blitz worked.
Pikachu & Zekrom-GX was given the right combination of support and powerful attacks to be a threat for multiple years. It made top cut at Worlds 2019, won a few regional tournaments with plenty of top results, and even once things shut down for the pandemic it was a top tier deck in online tournaments. The deck won at both the Pokemon Online Championships and Players Cup II, and only fell off right at the end when huge VMAX Pokemon and the rise of Fighting as a type finally caught up to it. This was one of the most popular decks of its era and saw a lot of success, and it deserved a lot of praise. This was not just being used because people liked Pikachu, after all.

They Had Been Afraid of Their Own Parents This Whole Time
fanfiction
ao3
word count: 1346
The Fenton Parents are the best parents in the world, but even they've noticed how much their kids have changed since the Portal activated. At first they think it's their logical fear of the ghosts that now attack Amity and they redouble their efforts to create weapons and defenses to keep their kids safe. But it only seems to make their kids grow more distant and Danny. Danny looks downright -terrified- at some of their weapons. It's not until one of their kids throws themselves between the Drs Fenton and a ghost that the Fentons realize--it's -them- their kids are scared of. @akela-nakamura
more fic wooooo
Jack and Maddie Fenton always prided themselves in being the best parents they could be.
They had always encouraged their kids' interests. They were well aware that their own interests seemed a bit eccentric to most people, so they wanted to give their own children undivided support when it came to the things they were interested in or wanted to do.
Jazz had always loved learning about how the mind worked. She’s been a bright young girl from an early age and once Jack and Maddie started noticing how many times Jazz would check out certain psychology textbooks from the public library, they eventually bought her her own copies.
And Danny. Danny had the brightest imagination. He was always reaching for the stars, quite literally. He wanted to be an astronaut someday. They bought anything space related that he wanted. Glow in the dark stars, model rockets, posters. He decorated his entire room with it all. It was what he dreamed of, to be able to be among the stars.
But something was different now. Danny didn’t seem to be as interested in becoming an astronaut, if his grades were anything to go by. Becoming an astronaut took a lot of knowledge and book smarts and it was something Danny seemed to lack these days. He was always skipping class, missing assignments. It was like he didn’t care anymore.
Ever since the portal turned on he was different. They knew he was down there for some reason when the portal miraculously turned on one day. It had given him quite the electric shock. They’d taken him to the hospital to make sure he was okay but the doctor said he was perfectly healthy. But still, something had changed with Danny that day. They just didn’t know what that was.
Then the ghosts appeared. With every ghost that came through the portal, Danny had a new excuse about why he couldn’t go with his parents to capture it, or why he didn’t want to be in the lab when they were doing experiments. He even avoided all mentions of ghosts that he could. There could only be one thing wrong.
Their son was afraid of ghosts. As he should be! Ghosts were very dangerous, especially to people who could be easily manipulated, like teenagers.
One prime example of a ghost coming to Amity Park that targeted teenagers was that Ember Mcclain girl. Danny was lucky to not have fallen for her ploy, but Jazz did. For all of Jazz’s smarts, she was still tricked by a ghost.
So Jack and Maddie had to protect them. They needed to do everything in their power to keep their kids safe from ghosts.
They spent day and night building new weapons and defenses. With the ever increasing ghost problem, it was necessary.
They’d take their new inventions up to the dinner table with them and proudly show them to Danny and Jazz. At first, Jazz would roll her eyes. She never believed in ghosts herself. Not until she had a close call with one at the school. Now, Jazz looked just as terrified as Danny. But they didn’t have to be afraid anymore. Not when Jack and Maddie could make whatever they needed to take down, capture, and defeat the ghosts.
That’s when the real fun would begin. Once they captured the ghosts, they had an extraordinary opportunity to study it. They planned on doing experiments, examinations, all sorts of things. This would be what would help spur their research on.
But no matter how much Jack and Maddie tried to comfort their kids, they still looked terrified. But that was okay. Being afraid of the ghosts would protect them.
Especially Phantom. He flew around and pretended to save the town, pretending that he was the good guy. But he caused just as much damage as the other ghosts and he had even committed crimes! He stole from a jewelry store and attacked the mayor! This ghost’s expert manipulation didn’t work on Jack and Maddie. His near perfect mimicry just made him the perfect ghost to capture and examine. They wanted to see his insides, what made him tick, how long he would keep up his charades.
Phantom was too good at tricking them. Even their kids, who were terrified of ghosts, were fans of Phantom. Jazz was even going as far as to start arguments with Jack and Maddie about him. Telling them that they just needed to give him a chance. They should have an actual conversation with a ghost, maybe they would learn something. She was so convinced that what he put on display for the town to see was genuine.
Not long after this, Danny and Jazz became more distant. They could tell that they were upset that they couldn’t sway their parents' views. They eventually stopped arguing, but they also stopped coming to breakfast and dinner. They’d make excuses for why they couldn’t eat at the table or why they wouldn’t be home that night.
It infuriated them. Phantom had put such a rift into their family. How? What could he have possibly done to convince Danny and Jazz that their parents were in the wrong?
It wasn’t until a day far after that that they finally understood.
Phantom was fighting a ghost in the middle of the football field. He’d been fighting for a while already when Jack and Maddie had arrived and they could tell he was getting tired. The ghost he was fighting hit him and it sent him flying through the air. He landed on the ground in front of Jack and Maddie. They trained their weapons on him, preparing to shoot.
This was their chance. They finally had him. They were going to tear him apart molecule by molecule and prove to their kids that there was no exception to ghosts being evil. Phantom was not some kind of good ghost. He was just playing a part.
They were ready to pull the trigger when they heard a shout.
Running from behind the bleachers was Jazz. She had a panicked look on her face. It was the most scared they’d ever seen her.
She ran and planted herself in front of Phantom, her arms splayed out wide to put as much of a barrier in between them as she could. What was she doing? Why was she protecting this dangerous ghost?
But then they saw the fear on her face. She was standing closer to Phantom than she was to them. She wasn’t afraid of Phantom. She felt the need to protect him. What was she afraid of?
Jazz’s eyes flicked down to their weapons and then back up to their eyes. It hit them like a train.
Jazz was afraid of them.
What had happened to make Jazz afraid of her own parents? Why was she afraid of them? Was this some new ghostly ability that Phantom had? The ability to manipulate their emotions?
But then Phantom groaned and placed a hand over his stomach where a wound was seeping ectoplasm. A bright ring appeared around his waist and they charged their weapons, the ecto-guns they held in their hands whining. This wasn’t something they’ve seen Phantom do before. What was happening? What was this new ability?
They could see as Phantom tried to hold it back. The rings kept splitting, merging back together, and disappearing over and over again. They watched as Phantom seemed to give up, the fight left his body. He leaned against the back of Jazz’s legs and it seemed like he passed out. The rings finally appeared again. They separated and passed over his body and Jack and Maddie were stunned to see what was left behind.
Their son sat bleeding out in the middle of the football field. Jazz still looked ready to hold her ground against them. Their weapons clattered to the ground.
Their son was a ghost. Danny was Phantom. Jazz and Danny hadn’t ever been afraid of ghosts. No.
They had been afraid of their own parents all this time.

Fun
2142 Hours, April 3, 2544 (Military Calendar) /
Planet Miridem, Rampart System
The ground shook beneath Frederic-104’s feet as he ran. A Covenant Wraith rumbled nearby, its powerful repulsor lifts shaking the ground and shattering glass as it traversed the ruined city streets. His visor was cracked. There was a small hole in the bottom right side letting the acrid smell of soot and ash pour into his typically sealed armor. It was, against odds, a refreshing change from the sterility of a vacuum-tight climate-controlled armor system.
The radio crackled twice, indicating a faulty connection. It was likely that they didn’t have many satellites left in orbit to transmit their frequencies at this stage of the battle. John-117’s voice finally managed to force its way through the white noise.
‘Blue Two, status?’
The team leader’s voice was tight. Stressed. Fred couldn’t blame him. Things were not going well on the ground. Blue Team, made up of John, Fred, and Kelly, were trying to rendezvous with Yellow Team in order to exfiltrate Doctor Halsey. So far they’d managed to contact Arthur and Solomon, but they’d had no word from Sheila yet. Sheila, who was personally escorting the doctor.
“Southeast sector is clear,” Fred reported. “Blue Three reported she needed some help with an armor group nearby, and I’m almost to her location now.” He rammed a new magazine into his BR55, consulting his motion tracker to confirm that he was no more than a few seconds’ run from Kelly’s position.
‘Solid copy, Blue Two. Good hunting.’
Fred didn’t bother with an answer. He was already coming up on Kelly’s position, and was practically within spitting distance from the enemy column. Two red dots appeared on his motion tracker a fraction of a second before his eye caught the enemies they represented. A pair of grunts, seemingly separated from their unit, trundling down the shattered city sidewalk. They were directly between him and Kelly. A single squeak on their comms would send their nearby fellows scurrying their direction, making their elimination more tedious and time consuming.
So, he’d just have to make sure that they didn’t squeak.
In two seconds Fred was upon them. He shattered the first Grunt’s skull with a powerful strike from his left first, while simultaneously removing his combat knife from its sheath on his chest and plunging it through the second Grunt’s throat with his right hand. Then he was off sprinting again before either of them hit the ground.
“That was quite the show,” Kelly remarked ruefully as he slid into cover beside her. “You get extra points for the presentation.”
Fred said nothing in response, but a grin quirked the corners of his mouth. “What are we looking at?”
“Full armor compliment. One Wraith, two Elites, a handful of Jackals and a dozen Grunts. What’s your recommendation?”
Fred answered without a moment’s hesitation, having expected the question. “Pick out a rooftop and take down the Elites, then pick our way down the hierarchy. That Wraith isn’t going to be able to turn sharp enough to pose a threat, and all it will take is a couple of grenades after we’re through with the ground forces.”
Kelly nodded. “Right, that’s probably how we should do it.” She then turned her head to one side and tilted it on an angle, giving him the same side-eye she did whenever she wanted to manipulate him into doing something unwise. “But how do you want to do it?” she asked.
At that, Fred did falter. He considered her question for a few seconds in silence, then answered, “Split up, and attack them on foot from either end of the column. Toss a couple of grenades for a distraction, then take them down individually in hand-to-hand.” He looked up and flashed her a grin despite knowing she wouldn’t be able to see it behind his visor. “Get a little exercise in.”
Kelly laughed. “I knew you were going to say that,” she said, bumping his shoulder with her own. Then she reached into the rubble behind her. “I got you something.”
“I’m not sure this is the-” Fred began, but she cut him off with one raised finger.
“You’ll love it, I promise,” she said. Then she took his right hand and fit something over top of his gauntlet. It was a piece of Covenant armor, taken from an Elite if the three-fingered glove attached to the armor were anything to go by.
Fred studied the piece of alien metal, its color glowing over top of his own muted blue armor. “What am I looking at here, Rabbit?” he asked skeptically.
“Make a fist,” the other Spartan replied in lieu of an answer to his question.
Curiosity continuing to mount, Fred did as he was told. When he formed a fist, he felt some sort of button press beneath his thumb, and an energy blade the length of his forearm emitted from the alien device. A broad grin spread across Fred’s face, and he took a couple of experimental swipes with it through the air.
“It’s just my color,” Fred said with a smirk in Kelly’s direction.
Then, his companion produced a pair of grenades. “Let’s do this one the fun way,” she said, the grin on her face evident in her voice. Fred looked from the grenades to the energy blade, then flashed his eyes at the mission timer. They were set to rendezvous with Yellow Team in ten minutes.
They had time.
“I don’t deserve you, Rabbit.”
“You’re right,” Kelly answered. ”But I like you anyway.” She lifted the first two fingers of her left hand and made a swiping motion across the bottom of his helmet, pantomiming a smile. Then she pressed those same fingers to her own visor directly over her mouth.
“Alright, Petty Officer,” Fred grunted, rising to his feet and trying to ignore the blush warming his cheeks. He took one of Kelly’s grenades and fixed it to his belt. “Let’s go have some fun.”

Book Review - First Blood by David Morrell
Long before I knew there was a book called First Blood, I knew “Rambo” meant someone who went into situations with guns blazing, like Die Hard or John Wick. After reading it, I see how film and pop culture have turned the character into something strikingly different. I have never seen the movies, so my review will speak only of the book First Blood. What made the book so special? Would it be as well-known without the film adaptations? Thrillers are naturally inclined to be popular, just like the romance genre, for titillating the audience’s emotions and allowing them to vicariously experience adrenaline. Despite the fact the thriller genre tends to be more plot than character driven, First Blood is unique in the action being completely motivated by the characters’ emotions. This made for a powerful story I could not put down, a modern revenge tragedy, whose popularity was certainly due to its relevance to contemporary issues.
I was excited to learn David Morrell was a Penn State alum, which is not my alma mater but is my state! My copy contained a foreword from the author, in which he explained the idea came from flipping through the news (just like how Suzanne Collins got the idea for The Hunger Games). He saw coverage of the Vietnam war, violence in inner city America, and a story in which police officers arrested ‘troublemaker’ hippies, shaved their hair, and dropped them off in the middle of the desert. He thought, “What if I wrote a book in which the Vietnam war literally came home to America?” (Morrell 3)
On the surface level, it’s a story about men shooting each other, like a Western. Exciting enough for that target audience, but First Blood isn’t any thriller. Deeper, it’s an anti-war reflection that caused division within the divided society it was written for. First Blood was highly relevant to the issues of the 1970s and contains complex, compelling characters in which you really can’t tell who was the protagonist and who was the antagonist.
Neither Rambo nor Teasle are the “good guy” and I felt like we weren’t supposed to be rooting for either of them. Both are larger than life characters, but especially Rambo. See: the connotation of the name in pop culture. No one should be able to keep running with that many injuries, dehydration, broken ribs, fevers, bat bites, and bullet wounds. I would think no one can kill over a dozen men in a quick ambush, during a flash flood, with aforementioned broken ribs. Teasle similarly keeps going despite witnessing the death of his father figure, nearly having a heart attack, and finally dragging himself along with a hole in his abdomen.
As a side note to break up this gritty review about a gritty book: we got a solid appearance description for Rambo, but I don’t remember one for Teasle, and towards the end of the book I realized I should have been imagining him with a notable moustache because it was the 1970s. I must also mention, the sexism was very 1970s. There's the part where Teasle is thinking about Orval's wife and wondering who she'll cook and clean for with her husband dead. Because all women are good for is housework, right? Terrible.
I’ll admit didn’t care for Teasle, coming from the perspective of someone who doesn’t like cops who harass and arrest people for non-crimes such as ‘loitering’ just because they want an ego trip. It happens too often in the real world. No matter what Teasle said about the law or wanting a distraction from his divorce, I read between the lines to know he was ruthless in his pursuit because Rambo had disrespected him. Similarly, Rambo snapped not only because of PTSD and seeing the prison cell; he was refusing to cooperate even before getting arrested because Teasle had disrespected him. I was almost rooting for Rambo to escape, though I knew he wouldn’t. I felt like the Green Beret, proud of how skilled he was. I knew Rambo was not thinking straight, that to him, he was in Vietnam and not Kentucky. It made him a little easier for me to sympathize with than the police officer, though he lost most of my sympathy once his priority stopped being escape and he started hunting for sport.
Even though I agreed with absolutely nothing the characters were doing, I understood every single choice they made and the pathos behind it. Their characterizations were crystal clear, which is something I admire as a fellow writer. Furthermore, I was delighted by the parallel structure of the story. It begins with Rambo and Teasle meeting at a gas station where they butt heads over who is allowed into the town, and it ends with gas stations exploding while Rambo and Teasle hunt each other through town. The ending was cathartic. Despite me not liking either character, I understood both of them, which had me choked up at the end. It could not have ended any other way. This feels bizarre to say, but I was happy the book had the finale it did. I would have been disappointed if it ended in any other way but them killing each other. Their stories were too connected at that point. The hunt becomes a type of love. Teasle was seeing through “the kid’s” eyes. They were both so far past the point of no return, their entire lives narrowed down to one purpose—to defeat the other—so that once their goal was done, they’d have nothing else to live for/no more purpose as a character.
What was the purpose of all of it? All those men died in the woods and the town was burned down, just because a cop harassed a man who was doing nothing but walking down the street? There was no point to the level of bloodshed, but this is a book about the Vietnam war, and it carries the theme that there was no purpose for the war. The scene resonated with me with the Green Beret training officer saying he hated the war, but did his job because he wanted to teach the kids the government sent into the slaughter to stay alive longer. Teasle and Rambo both grew up being taught how to kill and little else. They both brought the war to America.
It’s a tragedy, through and through. It’s Shakespearean. Act I: Rambo is arrested and starts to run. Act II, the rising action: Teasle begins pursuit. Act III, the climax: Rambo kills everyone but Teasle. Act IV, the falling action: Rambo continues to evade pursuit. Act V, the conclusion: the fight in the town and the death of the tragic heroes. Rambo and Teasle both occupy an honored position in society, holding medals, they both have a tragic flaw—the ego/hubris of the classics—which causes the tragedy to happen, and they meet an end they cannot be restored from—death.

Author's Note: I’ve decided that for my New Years resolution I’d learn Italian. With that being said I decided to try and add some into the story. So I used my translator on my phone for some of the Italian in here. I am in no way shape or form fluent in Italian yet, but I hope to be eventually. If you guys see anything wrong with my Italian I am so so sorry and we are not trying to offend or anything. We just thought it’d be cute if the reader had some Italian background.
Also we now have voting open for Jason snippets!!! You can vote here. Please please please go vote and let us know what you want to see! Now please enjoy the chapter.

Jason’s Pov:
We drive up the hill again and end up passing the van surrounded by officials. On instinct like a feeling knotting up in my stomach, I can feel y/n slowly start to freak out. I reach my hand back and immediately feel y/n’s sweaty hand grip mine tightly. I could care less if her hand is sweaty, all I know is I want to comfort her.
We all watch as we drive past and I turn to look at Kimberly. She sighs and lifts her hand from the wheel for a moment before putting it back.
“Let’s just keep going,” Kimberly speaks in a nervous tone.
I feel y/n’s hand start to shake lightly as we all look back out to the scene again, so I slowly start to caress her hand with my thumb. I only stop when I feel her start to become steady again before she squeezes my hand. I squeeze back and she lets out a sigh as Kimberly continues up the hill.
After only a few more minutes, Kimberly is parking and we all start to get out of the car. We all walk to where we had been last night, but y/n stops just a few feet from the car. She takes a deep breath in and I know what’s coming.
“You guys coming or what?” Billy asks as he watches me walk back over to y/n.
“Yeah. Uhh, just give us a minute, ok?” I ask, making both Kimberly and Billy nod before they walk a little ways away from us.
When they stop and wait just a little ways away from us, I turn back to y/n. I quickly look her over only to see her gasping like she can’t breathe.
“J… I..I.. can’t breathe…” y/n pants out as she continues to try to breathe.
“Hey… hey… you're ok, sweetheart. I’m right here. I’m not leaving you,” I explain to her as I grip onto the sides of her face.
“Just focus on copying my breathing, ok?” I ask her before nodding along with her when she nods.
“You’ve got this. You’ve done it before, remember? In… and out... in... and out…” I coach her and smile at her softly as her breathing slowly becomes more and more normal.
“There ya go, princess. See, you're ok…” I coo as I pull her into a hug.
She grips onto my shirt as she takes a few more deep breaths in. I rub her back lightly before pulling her back a bit to look at her.
“Haven’t had a panic attack in a few years, huh?” I make the observation and she giggles lightly as she rolls her eyes.
“Yeah. You’d think I’d know how to get rid of them by now,” she jokes sarcastically as she rolls her eyes.
“Hey. No. Don’t go there. I get why you’d panic. This is all scary, but like I promised, I’m staying right here next to you,” I tell her as I reach down and grab her hand.
I bring her hand up to my lips and press a light kiss to the back of it. She smiles at me and I boop her on the nose.
“There she is. Come on. You ready to go on?” I ask and she looks up at me, biting her lip like she’s thinking it over.
“Yeah. Ok. Let’s go,” she agrees with a nod of determination and I smile.
“There’s my beautiful, determined girl. Come on,” I proudly say with a smile before pulling her along to catch up with the others.
Once we catch up with them, they start to walk the way we need to go. We walk for a few minutes before coming to the edge of the cliff of the cavern we were in the other night.
“Guys, look. Look, it’s that guy again,” Kimberly speaks as we come to look down into the cavern.
I let go of y/n’s hand only for a split second to cup my hands around my mouth. Y/n sticks close to me as I do.
“Find anything interesting?” I yell out to the guy who seems to be chipping at the wall the same as last night.
“If I do, I’m keeping it!” The guy yells back at us as I put my hands down, letting y/n grab onto mine again.
“We know why you’re here!” Kimberly shouts as she gives an exasperated expression as he continues to do what he was doing before.
“Oh, yeah?” he shouts back before straining up to look at us again.
“You guys wake up surprised to be alive and jump over a house?” The guy shouts back and y/n grips my arm a little tighter, making me rub circles into her hand again.
“Yeah! Kinda. Well- no,” Billy shouts back to the guy. “Look, we're different, all right? Everything’s different,” Billy continues to explain and Kimberly looks at me.
Y/n frowns a little as her grip loosens and I just tighten mine. I try to continue to give her calm feelings as we all stare down at the guy.
“Uh, you're Zack, right?” Kimberly shouts once she looks away from me and back to the guy.
“Yup!” Zack yells back as he holds his hand out like he’s bowing.
“You still go to Angel Grove?” I ask before shifting my feet.
“Ha! Sometimes!” Zack shouts again, throwing his arms in the air before he goes back to hitting the wall.
“You know, the other girl was here too, about an hour ago,” Zack shouts again as he now turns and points his ax at us.
“Hey, you mean that girl right there?” Billy asks as he points to the other girl across from us on the other ledge.
“Hey! Come on down!” I shout again with my hands up by my mouth. “We should figure this out together!” I continue before putting my hands down again as she starts to climb the rock hill.
“Whoa,” Kimberly says in shock as we watch her climb.
“Oh, screw this,” Zack says before running after her.
“Okay, let me handle this…” Kimberly tells us as she starts to move back.
“She got up there pretty fast,” Billy tells us as he points to where she just was climbing.
“No! No! No!“ I yell out as I watch Kimberly take a running start before leaping off the side we’re on.
She chases after both Zack and the other girl and y/n lets out a light gasp. I shake my head and Billy follows after. I reach out to stop him, but miss him. I groan, rubbing my face before deciding to follow after them.
I start backing up, but y/n stands in my way. She has her arms crossed as she gives me a look that tells me she isn’t happy.
“What are you doing?” she asks and I shrug.
“I’m following them. Come on,” I explain before grabbing her hand.
“No, J. There’s no way in hell I’m doing any of that,” she denies as she shakes her head and plants her feet.
“Y/n. Please. Come on. We can fight about it later,” I explain and she huffs before dropping my hand and crossing her arms once again.
“So we’re just doing everything Kimberly says now, huh?” she asks angrily and I groan as I fight the urge to just pull her with me.
“No. We are not. I just wanna know what’s happening. Please, sweetheart. I’m not leaving you here. I told you I wouldn’t leave your side,” I practically beg her to come with me and she rolls her eyes.
“Fine,” she huffs as she drops her arms before getting into a running stance.
Before I know it she’s off and running after them, climbing up the side of the rock hill. She stops and turns around to look at me.
“Well, are you coming or not?” she shouts and I shake my head before taking my running leap as well.
I leap and land right next to where she had before climbing up to be next to her. I give her a small smile, but she only huffs and continues up the hill. I sigh before following after her.
“You have a coin. We have a coin,” I hear Kimberly say as me, Billy and y/n catch up to the group before coming to a stop.
“We should just talk about this. I mean, we don’t know what this-” Kimberly continues to talk to the other girl before getting cut off as the other girl turns and starts to run.
“Whoa! Woah!” All of us guys yell out as she runs till the edge of the cliff and jumps across to the other side.
“What is wrong with you?” Kimberly whispers out and I see y/n out of the corner of my eye, just shaking her head.
“Whoa! Oh, you’re crazy! But so am I!” Zach yells out to her while pointing to himself.
“Whoa, Zach…” Kimberly immediately intervenes.
“No, I got this…” he tells her as he walks back behind all of us before taking a running start.
“What are you doing?” I ask him as Billy lets out a lot of whoas.
Zach runs past us and he lets out a yell as he flies over the canyon. As he falls to the floor he takes the girl in yellow down and we all grimace as they crash into the ground.
“Hey!” he yells out from the ground as the girl in yellow gets up and he grabs onto her foot.
“I got her!” he yells over to us and y/n lets out a puff of air that sounds like a chuckle.
“Get off of me,” the girl in yellow tells him as she kicks her leg so he’ll let go.
“Just jump over…” he yells to us again as he lets go of the girl in yellow before waving us over.
“Let's go. Jump with me. Yeah,” Kimberly asks me as she looks at me.
“No, no, no! Don’t- don’t jump,” Billy immediately protests as Kimberly gets behind us into a running position.
“Okay…” I agree with Kimberly but hear a scoff, making me look at y/n.
“What?” I ask her with a raised eyebrow.
“Nothing…” she replies in a cold tone and I groan.
“Come on what?” I egg her on and she rolls her eyes.
“Really, it’s nothing, Jason. Just leave it be…” she tells me as she uncrosses her arms and rolls her eyes one last time.
My face falls when she spits my name out like it’s venom and I pause for a moment before sighing when I look at her again. I rub a hand over my face and she just shrugs.
“No. It’s som-” I start, but stop as I watch her take a running start before jumping across and landing gracefully on the other side.
“Ok…” I say as I shake my head, not understanding what just happened.
I watch as she gets up and stands next to Zach, who asks her something, but I can’t hear what. She frowns before nodding and crossing her arms again, making me sigh in frustration.
“No. No, y/n, you shouldn’t have jumped. Don’t jump, Jason!” Billy shouts out again with his eyes wide.
“Don’t jump. Don’t jump,” Billy repeats again in a panic.
“Ok. I’m gonna jump across with her,” I tell Billy quickly as I point at Kimberly.
“And then you jump, ok?” I ask him and he shakes his head.
“Piece o’ cake,” I finish off and he continues to shake his head.
“No, no, no!” Billy protests before I turn and start to run with Kimberly.
“D…d..don’t, don’t! Jason! Hey!” I hear Billy shout, but I ignore it and continue to run.
We run until we come to the edge of the cliff and jump off of it. We start to soar through the air to get across the canyon.
“That’s not a piece o’ cake!” I hear Billy shout, but I don’t reply because I’m too amazed at the feeling of flying over the cavern.
We continue to fly though the air and before I know it, Kimberly lands on her feet and comes to a sliding stop. I, on the other hand, full on face-plant into the ground and I hear y/n let out a small hiss. I taste blood in my mouth as I get up on both hands as Kimberly comes up behind me.
“You alright?” she asks as she grabs just under my armpit to help me up.
“Yeah, no problem,” I groan out as she helps me up.
“You got this, Billy!” I yell out to him as I dust off my hands.
“No, I don’t!” he yells back to me and I walk a little closer to the edge of the cliff.
“It’s fun,” I tell him before looking at y/n, who still seems mad and I turn back to him.
“It’s such a far jump!” he shouts back in fear.
“Come on, let’s go dude!” Zach yells out as he waves him over.
“Come on, Billy!” Kimberly shouts from beside me.
“We all did it!” I yell out before I hear a scoff, making me turn.
“Yeah. Cause he should totally do it just because we all did,” y/n mutters out angrily and I shake my head. choosing not to reply.
My heart aches to know she’s upset with me, but won’t tell me why. I wish I could just pull her aside and calmly talk about it not in front of the others, but now doesn't seem like the time so I’ll just wait till I can.
“You’ll be fine. I promise. Just jump!” Kimberly yells out and Billy starts to pace from side to side.
“Come on, do it, dude. Let’s go!” Zach yells out and y/n rolls her eyes.
I try to reach down and grab her hand in hopes I can comfort her even the slightest bit, but she pulls away before walking over to the girl in yellow. They smile at each other and y/n sits down next to her on the rock she’s on. She puts an arm around her and y/n smiles lightly at her, making me frown.
I decide to drop it for the moment before looking back over at Billy. He still paces side to side as he mumbles something to himself for a few minutes, probably trying to psych himself up.
“He’s scared…” Kimberly notes as she points at him.
“If he’s scared. He's scared. Let him do it in his time,” y/n speaks up still with anger clearly in her voice.
“He’ll come across, he’s fine,” I tell Kimberly as we watch him continue to psych himself up.
“Visualize jumping across! And then do it!” I yell out to him and he stops pacing.
“Come on, you got this!” Zach yells out and Kimberly lets out an okay.
He turns before taking a running start and screams as he flies through the air. He kicks his legs and moves his arms around as he soars across the canyon, catching more air.
“Woo hooo!” Zach yells out as I lift my arms.
Tumblr media
“Billy, you got this!” I yell out to him as he gets closer to us.
“Whoa! Oh shit! Woah!!!” Billy yells out as he gets closer. He lands on the edge of the cliff, gripping the rocks on the side before he starts to try and climb up.
“Are you ok?” I ask him as I take a step to start walking to him.
“I got it,” he tells us as he gestures with his hand for us to leave him alone.
“Come on, climb up. Climb up,” I tell him and he works at it.
“I did it!” he says as he continues to try and climb up.
“See, what’d we tell you, Billy? You got it!” I tell him as he finally climbs up before standing up.
“Told you. See?” Kimberly tells him as I start to clap for him.
He lets out a whoo and starts to dance as we clap for him, but he loses his balance and falls backward off the edge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Billy!” I yell out as Kimberly and the rest of us rush forward.
His screams fade out and I start to panic.
“Billy!” I shout as we all look over the edge. “Billy!” I yell out again, but it’s just dead silence.
“Billy! I yell one more time as we continue to look over the edge for him.
“Oh, mio Dio…{Oh, my gosh…} Billy,” y/n whispers out from behind me and I take a moment to look up at her to see she has tears in her eyes.
“We just killed that dude,” Zach asks me and I look at him before looking away again.
“Way to be blunt, Zach. Yeah I think we did,” y/n tells him in a choked tone.
“What do we do?” Kimberly asks from behind me.
“Isn’t it obvious? We need to call 911,” y/n grits out and I just look back down into the cavern.
“Hey, guys, you gotta come down here!” Billy shouts from below. “It’s water! You gotta see this,” Billy continues as we all collectively let out sighs of relief.
“Oh, grazie a Dio {Oh, thank God.}. He’s ok…” y/n sighs in relief as she wipes a tear off her cheek.
It stays silent for a minute more before Kimberly and Zach start to laugh. I get up off the ground and immediately pull y/n into a hug.
youtube
“Yo, all right! I’ll see you guys down there,” Zach tells us before turning lightly.
“Uhh… bring that crazy girl,” he finishes off before he jumps off the edge letting out a yell as he goes.
“Come on, you guys, let’s go! Whoo!” I yell out as I push y/n forward a bit.
“J… don’t you dar-” she starts, but doesn’t finish as I wrap my arms around her before jumping and bringing her with me.
We free fall and I smile as she keeps a tight hold on me. I let out a chuckle as I realized she has her eyes closed.
“Sweetheart, you can look. I’m right here,” I speak right next to her ear to make sure she hears me over the wind rushing past us.
She opens her eyes and a smile makes way onto her face as we continue to fall. We fall for about a minute more before we hit the water. We both sink down a ways before I start to kick, pushing towards the surface. Once she’s able to, she starts to kick with me and we get closer and closer to the surface of the water.
We all let out gasps as we resurface and grin just as another splash gets us. Looking over to where the splash is, we see Kimberly and the girl in yellow had jumped as well.
“Welcome to the club!” Zach yells out to all of us.
‘Sup, crazy girl?” Zach asks as he turns to the girl in yellow as we all just swim around.
I feel y/n kick out her leg lightly and the girl that’s wearing yellow gives her a look. Y/n then shrugs at her and they both look away from one another.
“We gotta do that again,” Zach says with a grin.
We then continue to swim and just hangout for a moment before I look down. I see that I myself seem to be glowing red and y/n orange.
“Hey, guys. Guys!” I yell out trying to get everyone else’s attention.
“What?” Zach asks when I finally get their attention.
“Check out how we glow,” I say in amazement as I look down at the red light under me.
“Cool. Oh, yeah. I like this,” Zach says in amazement as he chuckles while looking down.
Tumblr media
“I’m blue!” Billy yells out in excitement as I swim over closer to him.
“That’s not my favorite color, but its cool,” he tells me as we continue to look down at our colors.
“I’m black!” Zach shouts out, making Billy look at him.
“What?” Billy asks in confusion.
“I am,” Zach replies as he gives Billy a look.
“No, you're not!” Billy fights back and Zach just laughs.
“Y/n, you’re orange!” Billy tells her as he swims over to her.
“I know. Cool, right? Second favorite color,” she tells Billy with a grin on her face.
Billy then goes under the water and stays down for a minute before popping back up. I swim over to y/n and she smiles at me. My heart feels lighter now that she is happy and no longer mad.
“Hey, guys. There’s something down there, follow me,” he tells us as he looks between all of us before going back under.
youtube
I take a deep breath and go to dive, but I stop when I feel a hand grab mine. I turn to see y/n and she gives me a shy smile before nodding her head towards the water. I let out a light chuckle as I squeeze her hand the best I can underwater before we both dive.
We all follow Billy, swimming down for quite a while before coming up to something that looks like a vertical wall of water. Billy slowly puts his hand through it before pulling it back in shock. He carefully puts his hand through the water again, then his face. The rest of us slowly follow him through the wall of water, realizing that we can breathe on the other side.
Tumblr media
Looking around, it looks like we’re on the ceiling of some cave.
“Where are we?” I ask as we all look around in amazement.
“I don’t know,” Zach replies as we all continue to still hang there.
“Jason! I’m sliding!” Billy yells out to me before he falls from the water with a scream.
Soon we all follow after him and we all fall to the ground of the cave. Billy and Kimberly fall onto their stomachs. I fall onto my stomach as well and y/n falls on top of me. Zach and the other girl fall together before rolling to a stop with her sitting on his waist.
“Hi,” Zach greets as he looks up at the girl.
“Again?” she asks before shoving off of him.
“I am so sorry, J…” y/n apologizes as she quickly scurries off of my back and helps me up.
“It’s ok, princess. You're not that heavy,” I joke with her and she rolls her eyes.
“Yes, but I did literally smoosh you,” she fights back and I chuckle.
“Hey. Better me than you. I would have flattened you like a pancake…” I joke again and she giggles.
“I guess you have a little bit of a point there,” she tells me and I widen my eyes.
“Are you calling me fat, sweetheart?” I ask her and her eyes widen.
“No! You took that out of context!” she shouts as she points a finger at me and I chuckle as I shrug.
When we’re done bantering, we all look around before looking up at the water we just came from. Some water drips around us as we look up at it, but for the most part all the water stays above us.
“Well, that is unusual,” Billy utters from behind me and y/n as we continue to look up at it while he pulls his flashlight from his pocket.
“This just gets better and better,” Zach says in amazement as we all continue to look at the water.
I turn around and start to look around the walls of the cave. Y/n follows me and crashes into my back when I abruptly come to a stop.
“Oww, J, next time warn me…” she tells me as she rubs her nose and I chuckle.
“Sorry…” I apologize as I give her a guilty look before turning back around.
“Do you feel that?” Kimberly asks as she walks around me and y/n.
She walks over to one of the many pillars and puts her hand on it. There’s a small tremor that makes y/n grab onto my arm before putting it back down.
“There’s something out here,” I point out as we all continue to investigate.
“The walls are shaking,” Kimberly tells us as we all walk up behind her.
“Come on,” I order as I reach down and grab y/n’s hand before walking past Kimberly.
We walk through the opening and see more pillars around the whole cave. Billy walks past me and y/n and goes a little farther as he shines his flashlight around.
youtube
“That’s impossible,” he utters as we come to a stop on the small ledge to look at what looks like a spaceship.
Billy and I exchange a look of awe. When he looks away, I look to y/n and she squeezes my hand. I shake my head in disbelief before looking back at the spaceship. After a moment of staring at it in awe, we all start to walk towards it.
“This must have been here for millions of years,” Billy ponders as we all continue to look around at it now that we’re close to it.
“I mean, look how the rock has grown around it,” he continues as he points his flashlight around at all the rock walls.
“I don’t like this place,” Kimberly voices as we walk towards what looks like the door or the spaceship.
“Well. Why don’t you leave then. I think it’s rather cool if you ask me,” y/n bites out in anger before she drops my hand and walks next to the girl in yellow.
They whisper and point at things around us and while they do I notice a glowing from my pocket. I pull the coin from my pocket and take a moment to watch as it glows brightly.
“Hey guys?” I call out to them as I hold the glowing coin up and they all group around me.
“Check it out,” I say as I continue to hold it out in front of all of us.
It’s quiet for a moment as we all stare at the coin in my hand, but only a few minutes later there’s a light wearing sound that comes from behind us. We all turn to the spaceship to see that the door has now opened. I look at Kimberly who’s next to me and nod.
Tumblr media
“Okay…” she whispers out.
We all start to climb the long row of stairs in front of us and once we get to the top we’re all panting. We finally make it into what looks like four halls each leading somewhere else. I look over at y/n just to check on her only to see her arms are crossed in discomfort.
We all come to a stop at the top of the stairs and I wait on y/n knowing she'll seek me out. She does just that and comes up behind me before wrapping her arm around mine pulling it close to herself. I quickly grab her hand and lace our fingers together giving a gentle squeeze in hopes to comfort her.
“Holy sh—” Zach starts to say in shock, but Billy cuts him off with a quick ‘Shh!’.
“What, you think there’s aliens in here?” Zach asks as we all continue to look around.
“Just be quiet Zach,” I tell him as I put a hand out to motion him to be quiet.
“It’s so cold in here,” the girl in yellow comments as we start to walk farther in.
We walk a little further in and there’s the sound of dust falling. I stop for a moment and as I do y/n pulls my arm a little closer as Billy stops next to her.
“Jason, is this real? Like are we really in a spaceship right now?” Billy asks me as he takes a look at me before continuing to look around himself.
“I think so. Just- - just breathe, okay?” I ask him as I squeeze y/n hand silently telling her the same thing.
“Okay,” Billy agrees and I nod at him.
“Hey. We’ve all seen enough. Right? We should go now?” The girl in yellow speaks up and I feel y/n nod quickly.
“What? We’re gonna be famous,” Zach shouts out as he runs around.
“Quite!” I shout out as I take a few steps forward.
“There’s something here,” I try to explain as I continue to walk with y/n still attached to my arm.
I look up and more dirt like substance falls from the roof and what looks to be another door somewhere on the roof lights up. It starts to make noise as if powering up and y/n burrows into my arm more -as if that’s even possible- with a death grip. The door starts to whire before the whole ceiling starts to move.
“What was that?” I ask as I look up after jumping a little.
It all moves as if clicking into each other as more and more dust falls. I quickly grip y/n’s hand as we all start to jump into moving.
“The stairs!” Billy yells out as the stairs pull up and close off the entry way.
“Oh, my God!” The girl in yellow yells out as we all race over to the stairs.
“There’s no way out!” Kimberly shouts out as Billy starts to freak out.
“Guys, guys, guys!” Billy shouts, making me turn to him.
“Let’s go! That way! Let’s go! Let’s go!” I scream out to everyone as I point in one direction.
“I’m going,” Billy shouts out from in front of me.
“Run!” I hear Kimberly shout from behind me.
I go to run with everyone else, but I get pulled back. I groan and rub my shoulder as I look back. I see y/n stood in our spot frozen in fear and I sigh, shaking my head. I quickly turn back around and loop her legs over one arm and grab under her arms before lifting her in a bridle carry.
I quickly run to catch up with the others with y/n in my arms. We ran down a few hall’s before hitting a rounding corner. We all then split up and hide anywhere we can find.
The girl in yellow hides behind a pillar, Kimberly climbs up into a small area, Zach hides behind a few pillars as well. I hide behind the girl in yellow with y/n right next to me. Billy hides in the one right behind us.
Y/n stays frozen the whole time and I start to panic. I’ve only ever seen her this way once, when her dad freaked out on her and threw her phone at her head. She doesn’t even blink and that scares me more.
“Sweetheart. You're ok. I’m right here,” I whisper out to her as I put a hand on her cheek.
She finally blinks and she gives me a panicked look. I sigh and pull her to me keeping her head held to my shoulder.
“You're gonna be ok. I promise,” I whisper out to her again as I kiss her forehead.
I keep her held close, but turn so I can see what the others are seeing. There's an indistinct robotic chattering and we all collectively hold our breaths as it slowly gets closer. I close my eyes for a second to try and figure out how to get us out of here. But I open them again when the girl in yellow lets out a scream and there’s a loud thud before she gets dragged away.
To Be Continued…

Shattered Identity
Chapter five: Pizza party at Vlad's! And gross horrors, lots of gross horrors.
Chapter one. Chapter two. Chapter three. Chapter four.
"Jeez, you two almost gave us a heart attack!" Tucker halfheartedly scolded the half-ghosts in the hallway as he texted Danny the message that the two broke off their fight on their own. "Don't get me wrong, I'm glad things didn't get uglier than this, but next time, at the very least, yell for us if something happens instead of just turning the office into a haunted confetti storage room."
"Sorry Tucker, I didn't know you and Sam were here in the first place."
Danielle sheepishly twiddled her thumbs while her new little brother tapped on the bandages on his neck with an annoyed huff in response.
"Oh.. right, no vocal chords, my bad..." The geek winced. "Maybe we can get you an airhorn later."
"Or he could just scream without words." The technically older clone offered. "You two heard the ghost speak, right?"
"Huh, I always figured that ghost speak would sound... creepier and less like random animalistic noises?"
"♓︎♐︎ ⍓︎□︎◆︎ ⬥︎♋︎■︎⧫︎ ♓︎⧫︎ ⧫︎□︎ ⬧︎□︎◆︎■︎♎︎ ♍︎❒︎♏︎♏︎◻︎♓︎♏︎❒︎," [if you want it to sound creepier,] Jack cracked his neck at an unnatural angle, the sickening sound followed by the squelches of wet ripping noises reverberated through the mansion and the action left the bandaged head dangling limply, giving the impression it was only attached to his body through the bandages on his neck themselves... "♓︎ ♍︎♋︎■︎ ❍︎♋︎🙵♏︎ ♓︎⧫︎ ⬧︎□︎◆︎■︎♎︎ ♍︎❒︎♏︎♏︎◻︎♓︎♏︎❒︎..." [i can make it sound creepier...]
"Gah! Never do that again!" She shivered and punched the older halfa's arm, who let out a raspy chuckle as he reattached his head and opened the office door.
An uncomfortable silence fell as the destroyed state of the office was discovered, much worse than how the sparring spirits left it, large globs of bright magenta ectoplasm had grown(?) all over the office, globs that weren't just the messy aftermath of the brawl, they were writhing and squirming as if they were alive, some of them even had developing eyes and teeth..
"❄︎◆︎♍︎🙵♏︎❒︎, 💧︎♋︎❍︎, 🙵♏︎♏︎◻︎ ⍓︎□︎◆︎❒︎ ♎︎♓︎⬧︎⧫︎♋︎■︎♍︎♏︎..!" [Tucker, Sam, keep your distance..!]
The two humans, while they didn't understand what the ghostly host said, understood the unknown nature of the threat at hand as well as his body language and backed away from the scene while the mansion's owner took a slow, hesitant step into the infested office, trying not to catch the attention of the strange creatures, their unfocused eyes instead drifting over the room itself as the bandaged ghost gingerly searched through the rubble looking for the most important items to salvage from it.
"...What are these things..?" Danielle's voice stayed small to not catch any unwanted attention from the unknown ghostlike entities as she followed him, her fist alight with a charging ectobeam as she kept an eye out for sudden movements from them.
"I_D-O-N-T_K-N-O-W" He spelled out on the recovered Ouija board "I-V-E_N-E-V-E-R_S-E-E-N_A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G_L-I-K-E_T-H-I-S_B-E-F-O-R-E"
Sure, from their perspective, 'Jack' not seeing anything like this was a given, he hadn't existed for very long, but Vlad had genuinely no idea how he had done this. A failed copying attempt that he didn't think through during the fight? Maybe a mishap with etco-barriers? ...Something else entirely..? All he really knew was that this was his ectoplasm everywhere and that it was alive.
Cheese curds! He should've known that he was biting off more than he can chew!
How was he supposed to handle this on his own?!
His powers were useless like this at best and detrimentally unstable at worst,
he couldn't get across how important this was to Danny without telling the truth,
but he can't tell Danny the truth!
Let alone Dani!
If they know that he's the real Vlad and he has all his memories but almost none of his powers,
they're going to take advantage of his weakened state and kick his butt!
and
at this rate all of Amity park is going to be enveloped in whatever this horrific ecto-gunk was before he even had a chance to carry out his plan-
and
Maddie is going to see it-
and
use it as a reason to make MORE of those horrible guns-
and
use them on the gunk as well as every single ghost in her sights-
and
she'd naturally set her sights on the ghost zone itself-
and
there wouldn't be a war between humans and ghosts,
and
except that it would be a genocide that he couldn't stop-
and
and
and
and
and-
Snapping out of the downward spiral of negative thoughts, Vlad felt the familiar lab coat being draped over his shoulders as well as two people touching him, one hugging him from behind (the person in question being small enough that people might mistake it for a piggyback ride), and the other who was awkwardly patting his shoulder.
Ugh, was he crying..?
Well, now he had another reason to keep his true identity secret from Danny and the others.
He would die of embarrassment if they knew that he wasn't a clone, still had his memories intact, and yet was still reduced to this weak, pathetic, over-emotional wreck, either they'd find it hilarious or worse, still pity him despite everything.
Part of him wanted to break off the hug to preserve the tatters of his pride and dignity while another part of him just wanted to stay like this a bit longer.
As humiliating as it was for him, it was also kinda nice to be held, to be reassured (albeit clumsily), to be comforted, to be loved.
"Uh, guys, hate to interrupt something but I just wanted to let you know Sam's ordering pizza, what flavors do you want?"
Both saved and damned by the pizza orders, the three halfas broke it off and Vlad put the lab coat on properly.
"Uh Pepperoni?" Danny shrugged.
"Also Pepperoni" Dani nodded.
"E-X-T-R-A_C-H-E-E-S-E_P-L-E-A-S-E"
"Got it" Tucker gave them a thumb's up and turned to head back to Sam before popping his head back in. "Will the cats try to attack the pizza guy?"
"NO_I" He fumbled with the planchette in an attempt to cover up the slip. "V-L-A-D_D-I-D-N-T_O-R-D-E-R_T-A-K-E_O-U-T_O-F-T-E-N_E-N-O-U-G-H_T-O_W-A-R-R-E-N-T_T-H-A-T_T-O_M-Y_K-N-O-W-L-E-D-G-E."
"Okay, thanks!"
The tech geek left for real this time, leaving the three to their own devices.
"So Danny, have you met my new little brother?" The physically youngest ghost gestured to the tallest.
"Jack? Yeah, he showed up at my house and named himself after my dad."
"You named yourself after someone you just met?" Dani snorted in amusement.
"T-H-E-R-E-S_W-O-R-S-E_N-A-M-E-S_T-O_G-I-V-E_Y-O-U-R-S-E-L-F_A-N-D_B-E-S-I-D-E-S_H-E_S-E-E-M-E-D_P-R-E-T-T-Y_N-I-C-E" Vlad shrugged nonchalantly.
From the dishonest ghost's actual perspective, it was something done because he named himself after the first thing he saw (that being the giant oaf) and he stuck with it because in foresight, 'Vlad naming his son after him', would break Jack Fenton that much more during both the reveal of Vlad's death as well as the funeral, in which he and Maddie would either figure out on their own or he'd tell them in his speech that he never had the chance to meet his father before his untimely tragic fate. And Maddie would feel all the more guiltier when she finds out that her horrible gun has taken a human life, one that, while she didn't care very much for, was important as well as cherished by many...
"So how did you know how to find Danny's house so quickly? Or did he bring you there?"
"H-E_F-O-U-N-D_M-E_I-N-J-U-R-E-D_A-N-D_T-R-I-E-D_T-O_H-E-L-P" The bandaged spook explained, being honest yet vague. "A-N-D_I_C-A-M-E_B-A-C-K_I-N_T-H-E_M-O-R-N-I-N-G_T-O_P-R-O-P-E-R-L-Y_I-N-T-R-O-D-U-C-E_M-Y-S-E-L-F."
"Well that's my super-cool cousin for you!" she playfully punches her gene-donor's shoulder. "Always willing to help!"
"Heh, yeah..." Danny gave a nervous smile to his clone and a concerned to 'Jack'. "Hey, speaking of which, you and I need to talk about your... 'issue' in private."
"G-I-V-E_M-E_A_S-E-C-O-N-D_T-O_G-R-A-B_M-Y_T-R-A-N-S-L-A-T-O-R"
Danny nodded and waited as the lanky spirit visually followed the charger to the discarded aid and cleaned the non-living ectoplasm off of it before putting it on his neck and giving him a thumb's up which Danny gave back.
Following the fourteen-year-old out of Dani's presumed ear shot, the lab coat wearing specter nervously picked at his hand's bandages wondering what 'issue' Danny was talking about, his mind almost imminently racing towards him asking 'did you get your memories back?' or something similar.
"Okay, so, don't get me wrong, I'm glad that you and Dani aren't fighting with each other anymore, but right now, we're playing with fire with this cover up. You might not remember, but she's been through a lot because of you- er, Vlad, I could not care less who else does and doesn't know the truth, but she needs to sooner rather than later."
Unbeknownst to the two of them, the clone was eavesdropping out of their sight. Her concern for her new little brother turning into intrigue.
"I know." he nodded somberly. "I plan on telling her everything after the funeral itself. I agree that she does need to know soon, but right now there's too many moving parts to keep track of and I don't know how she'll react to it."
Danny crossed his arms as he frowned at the taller halfa.
"Look, I might not know what I've done, but I get that I've done a lot before waking up and that there's no amount of verbal apologies that would undo all of it. However, this is for her safety too. Like it or not there's two problems that take top priority: Your mom's gun that will cause ghost zone genocide if nothing's done with it, and the power vacuum Vlad's death will inevitably cause. If you think that it causing genocide is just a hyperbole, think back on it, all it took was one hit to reduce a fully-grown, powerful halfa down to just a damaged core desperately clinging onto life, a core that would've shattered if left on its own, so tell me, what do you think would happen if you or her got hit with it?"
"...We'd instantly die..."
"Exactly, and your mom, a competent ghost hunter, knows how powerful that thing is and if it doesn't have any drawbacks from her end, she most likely wont stop using it until every ghost in her sights is dead, yes, even the good ones as well as the not as good but still likeable ones. As for the power vacuum, there are a handful of ghosts who know Dani's origin other than us, ghosts who would be more than happy to kill the only known heir to Vlad's estates while she's none the wiser. But if I handle the funeral *just* right, I could kill two birds with one stone, keep your mom from using the gun ever again and seal up the power vacuum. I know that she'll hate us-"
"Us? Where did you pull 'us' from?"
"Danny, she'll hate me for obvious reasons and hate you because you knew this big secret about me this entire time and never told her. But it'll be okay because she'll still be alive when she hates us, alive and safe. Which in a messy situation like this is the absolute best possible outcome."
"...Right..." Danny sighed.
"Hey," Vlad put his hand on the teen's shoulder reassuringly "she might hate me forever, but not you. Either someone she knows and trusts other than you will talk some sense into her or she'll cool off on her own and realize that you're not the bad guy in this. That in some cases, there isn't a bad guy when there's a bad situation and that sometimes, bad things just... happen and good or neutral guys are bad at handling it."
"Yeah... Thanks, I needed that..." he softly smiled.
Assuming that the conversation was wrapping up, Dani flew back to the office with new secret information to chew on for herself as well as keep hidden from her cousin and brother.
She already knew about Vlad's death and some things were self-explanatory, like the new gun being a big problem, but just how much did Jack Masters know? What dark secrets did the clone of Vlad hide that he shared with Danny and yet were so horrible that she'd never forgive him if she knew?
Was his original purpose not to tie up the loose ends Vlad's death left behind like he said but instead he was made with some of his gene donor's memories intact so that Vlad had pseudo-immortality only for Jack to betray his 'father' by living a different and new life?
Did he try to hunt down Danny and his parents just like how she originally tried to capture him?
Maybe even something worse..?
At the very least, they weren't worried about his malnourished frame meaning something bigger than it was, or Vlad's disease being fatal for Jack, or even the living ectoplasm he created was dangerous like she originally assumed the talk was about, and she could find some comfort in knowing that he valued her safety and well being over their bond as family. Her new brother might be shady, but he had a heart somewhere in those shadows.
"Oh hey guys! How was the talk?" She innocently greeted them as they approached the office.
"It went well."
"Yes, it was rather... informative." Jack picked at the bandages on his forearms while looking around the destroyed office for a distraction. Wait, where did the living ectoplasm go?! "Oh right! I can't believe I almost forgot the records!" He blurted out to keep the two from panicking as much as he was.
"...Records?" Danny raised an eyebrow at the pair.
"Yeah, fake marriage certificates, divorce paperwork, birth certificates, Social Security Numbers, school documents, passports, a not-fake-but-still-legally-questionable death certificate, maybe a fake death certificate for a woman who doesn't exist or two..." Jack listed off on his fingers "My job's more than writing the death certificate and will and calling it a day."
"Woah, woah woah! What do you need all that for?"
"Daniel, the days where someone can just pop into existence as the ages we are without any records of existing prior without drawing suspicion are long behind us. Sure, we could get away with not having them if we intend to live as a state-crossing nomads for a couple of weeks or months if we're lucky, go feral in the woods and let the public come to the conclusion that we were raised by animals while our bio parents abandoned us, or live in the ghost zone where there's a lot less organized existence trails, but we can't live like the average human person without this stuff, not in the long term in the human world. Sooner or later, the government is going to catch up to us and when that happens, we at least have something to shoo them away."
"Huh..."
"Wait, going feral in the woods is an option?" Dani asked her two-day-old physically older brother.
"Yeah, but it's not a good one. Trust me, I tried." Vlad waved off without further elaboration and shuffled the documents.
"Guys, pizza's here!"
Saved by the pizza yet again, the three changed back to their human forms and followed the geek back to the Mansion's foyer, where Sam was waiting for them along with several boxes of pizza and cans of soda were set down, almost enough to feed a frat party rather than a small group of teenagers who happened to have different diets. ...He had a strong feeling that they paid for all of this with one of his debit cards.
"Here you go." Tucker handed the bone-thin halfa five boxes. "I figured you could use it."
"Thanks..." Vlad stared at the boxes in his hands and gestured with his head. "...I'm just gonna, eat these in the other room..."
"No! No! You can stay, we won't judge!" Dani tugged on his sweater sleeve while giving him puppy dog eyes.
"Fine, but all of you get ONE question each, so use it wisely." He set the boxes down and sat on the floor next to them, crossing his legs while opening the top box
"What makes you think we're going to ask questions?" The goth raised an eyebrow "Everybody but Danny already saw your gross ecto-oozing fa-OH MY GOD!"
Everybody but Dani stared at the sight of Vlad's scarred, almost mangled-looking face in horror as the eldest teen just rolled his eyes at their terrified expressions, pocketed his face mask and munched on a slice of cheesy pizza while the others gawked at him like he was some sort of monster.
"...Does it hurt?" Dani was the first to break the awkward silence. "To eat, I mean..."
"Nope, I don't have any working nerves in my face." He lied nonchalantly between bites, not wanting them to know how much pain he was actually in. "Regardless of if its supposed to hurt or not, I can't feel a thing."
"..So if I punch you in the face, you wont feel it at all?" Sam was the next to ask.
"Yes, and you wasted your one question on that, so now you can't ask if you can test it." Vlad immaturely stuck his tongue out at her while she rolled her eyes out of annoyance and took a slice of her cheeseless mixed veggie pizza.
Tucker sat down near Jack and subtly studied his face while opening up the box of meat lover's pizza, if he was only going to get one question about this clone of Vlad's abnormal medical condition, he wanted to make it count.
From what he could tell, the marks on his face were less like acne scars like he assumed they should be (given that the clone probably had ecto-acne at one point, just like his gene donor with a chronic condition) and closer to... either really severe chemical burns or someone pouring boiling acid on his face. Closer, yet not identical to.
He couldn't tell how damaged the upper half of his face was due him having band-aids covering up some of the damage, but even then it was clear that the disfigurements around the clone's mouth were the most intense.
Whatever was used to scar his face ate off his lips and chunks of his cheeks, giving his left-side profile a ghoulish, too-toothy grin regardless of if its owner felt like smiling or not while the right side had a half-inch wide strip of flesh ending the 'smile' while also creating another hole in his face, and if he looked closely enough, he also seemed to be missing a part of his tongue in a way that made it look like there was a bite taken out of it...
"...Can I help you?" Jack asked without bothering to hide the irritation in his tone.
"O-oh uh... I just wanted to ask..." Darn it Tucker, think! You can't waste this question! "I couldn't help but notice that the lower half of your face seems more visibly damaged than the upper half, and that part of the inside of your mouth was partly eaten too, I don't mean to sound insulting but was that just random chance or was your... ...illness on the top half of your head focusing primarily on eating chunks of your brain instead of your face? Again, I don't mean this in an insulting way..."
Sam burst out laughing while Jack's expression went from annoyed to mildly intrigued, he opened his mouth to answer, paused, thought it over, and his mild intrigue turned to dawning horror...
"I... I might have to get back with you on that because I don't know either." Jack cleared his throat in an attempt to hide his nervous voice crack. "Oh Calzones, if he's right and I really am physically losing my mind... Oh Bread Sticks..." He muttered under his breath while holding his head between his hands. "...It explains so much, too much..."
Danny lightly tapped the older teen's shoulder. "Have you ever tried to eat by sticking food through the hole in your cheek?"
Vlad let go of his head and stared at him blankly, seemingly gone through the five stages of grief in five seconds and left so perplexed by Danny's question that it seemed his mind was catching up with the second halfa's words.
But you know what? He hadn't tried before, before, his time was too swamped with hospital trips and robberies to afford the hospital trips to mess around with the odd yet neutral characteristics of his condition. He should fix that while he could, for science.
His index finger idly traced part of the hole to make sure it wasn't bleeding while his other hand picked up and rolled up a slice of pizza, and he stuck the entire slice through the hole, chewed it for a bit and swallowed it.
"I have now, and the experience isn't different enough from eating normally to warrant switching to the hole."
Danny blinked at him, processing what he had just witnessed. "...Okay, I know you said one question but now I have to know; do you have two sets of jaws?!"
"I'll... Also have to look into that." He nervously smiled while screaming internally.

Top 5 books!!
Okay, I think it’s important to say at this point, that I am very, very much not well read. After hitting a certain age, I’ve read books in a very sparse and scattered way. It’s something I want to change, but developing new habits is difficult. Because I’ve not read a whole lot, I guess I haven’t found a whole lot of books I could hold up as favourites. I do have one absolute favourite that I could recommend until I’m blue in the face, and a few others that I would not say are favourites, but are still pretty special. So, that’s how I’ll lay this out.
Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh - Just...Just, uggghhh. I love this book so much. I actually saw the TV series first (which is one of the most perfect adaptations ever, please watch it), and because excerpts from the book were read in the narration, I could hear how beautiful the prose was. Not only is the prose utterly lush, though, for me, it’s very relatable emotionally and spiritually. It is also a book that has grown with me. Each time I read it, I found myself sympathising with a different character. No other book (and yes, like I’ve said I haven’t read many, but the point still stands) has really grown with me like that. It’s very personal, sort of like a home to me. So, yes, even if I do read other great books, this will always be a favourite.
And now, here are some books that I also enjoy and would recommend!
2. Granny by Anthony Horowitz - Now, hear me out. I first heard this one on a library audiobook as a child, and I loved it so much, my mother burned a copy for me. I credit this as being, not my first encounter with horror, but certainly a significant one. The concept of the story is that a significant portion of elderly ladies hate everyone, particularly their own families, and want to cause as much pain and trouble to them as possible. The story follows Jordan “Joe” Warden, as he becomes locked in a terrifying power struggle with his own Grandmother. What makes this story so unsettling, is that while the story has a surreal, absurd feel to it, it also has this odd realism to it. Granny is not a supernatural monster, she has no unusual powers, she is just a very selfish, very sadistic woman. She manipulates, she lies, she attacks, she even kills. The cruelty feels real, and that is a lot for a kids’ book. And for all that, it’s still very funny and a quick, easy read. I definitely recommend it for any horror fan, for some light reading.
3. The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka - Okay, maybe I was wrong, maybe this is actually a favourite of mine. This story absolutely destroyed me when I first read it, not too long ago. I hadn’t cried over a book since I was about seven, but this one got me right in the gut. This story is very famous, but for any who don’t know what it’s about; Hard working salesman, Gregor, wakes one morning to find he has turned into a giant insect. The story is Gregor’s account of how his family learn to cope without his income, and treat him as a result.
4. The Go-Between by L. P. Hartley - Another very recent read, but one I really enjoyed! The story of a public school boy, Leo, who visits his friend’s stately home for the summer. There, his friend’s beautiful sister persuades him to act as her postman, and deliver letters between herself and a farm worker from a neighbouring estate. What I liked so much about this book, is that it is a very realistic portrayal of the workings of a child’s mind. It portrays the innocence, the arrogance, the petty selfishness, the silly fancies, without either romanticising, or judging them. Something that the story heavily subverts, however, is the idea of the purity of star crossed lovers. By portraying the relationship between the sister and the farmer through Leo, and his appointed task, we see the relationship in a different light than we might have, had the story been told through the couple’s perspective.
5. Scum by Roy Minton - This one is sort of cheating, because it’s actually a novelisation of a film. The 1977 TV film, which was later remade as a cinematic film in 1979, “Scum”. The story of the inner workings of an English borstal, and one boy’s climb to the top of the hierarchy. “Scum” is still a favourite film of mine, and the novel adds a lot that did not make either cut if the film. For a film novelisation, it is pretty well written. Quite simple and cut and dry, but it is fitting for the subject matter. As you can probably guess, being about the realities of borstal in the 1970s, it is a very brutal and gritty read. Major WARNING for rampant racism, violence, SA and suicide.
Wow, this was longer than I thought it would be! Thanks so much for sending this ask, buddy! I hope that it is at least a decent read.

The Training Session (Natasha x Wanda)
Summary: Natasha takes Wanda under her wing and trains her up in basic self defence. Then Nat discovers something that even Wanda didn’t know about. (Word count: 2634)
Tumblr media
Wanda peered into the training area nervously, wearing her sports gear as she watched Natasha train with the punch bag. She stepped in and offered a shy smile. “Hey… you wanted to train me?” Wanda called out quietly.
"Hey Wanda," Nat greeted with a soft smile, contrasting her hard punches into the bag as she wrapped up with a roundhouse kick, "Good to see you've got your gear." She noted as she walked over to the younger woman.
“I found it somewhere deep in the bottom of my drawers.” Wanda told her, watching her with fascination in her eyes. “So uh… what are you going to do with me?” She asked.
Nat smiled, taking a long drink from her water bottle before answering, "Well you've got power, that's for sure. I can't make magic, but you also need to be able to handle yourself in hand-to-hand combat,"
Wanda nodded in understanding, knowing Natasha had a very valid point, even though this kind of fighting was not in her comfort zone, she wanted to impress Nat, as she has always looked up to her. “Okay… where do we start?”
Natasha gave Wanda her signature smirk, "Blocking," she said, "But first we work on your stance," she said and demonstrated a basic fighting stance.
“So do you want me to do the same or go to fight you?” Wanda asked, going as if to punch Nat through her stance, before copying her stance. “How’s this?”
Nat smiled approvingly, "Not bad, but you're a little tense," the redhead said and pushed her gently, setting her off balance. "You have to be able to move on your feet and catch yourself when someone tries to set you off balance,"
Wanda nodded, stumbling to the side but easily picking herself up again. “Sorry, I guess I’m nervous.” She admitted quietly.
Natasha smiled softly, "It's okay, it's normal to be nervous when you're learning something new," she said and then gently came close to Wanda, "May I touch you?"
The young witch nodded, tensing up a little as she admittedly didn’t know what to expect. She was nervous, but she watched Nat’s every move to see what she was about to do.
She gently adjusted Wanda's shoulders and legs, "Minor adjustments, Wands," Nat said reassuringly. She then moved to turn Wanda's torso to the side, her hands gently resting with one on her back and one pushing her tummy to turn her body.
Wanda nodded again, mentally noting every change Nat was making. However the second Natasha touched her belly, she couldn’t help but feel it twitch, she gave Nat a confused look, not quite understanding what that feeling was.
Nat smiled, "Oh sorry, is someone a little ticklish?" She said, trying to be lighthearted as she knew it sometimes helped get trainees out of their heads.
The Scarlet Witch innocently looked at her with a blank expression, she had heard that word before, but she didn’t know what it meant. Maybe it was a sensitivity to a certain attack during a fight? She shrugged in response, curious to find out what it was.
Natasha tilted her head, "Ticklish?" The Widow had to think, "I'm trying to think of how to define the word…sensitive to light touch?" She offered, chuckling at herself, which made Wanda raise her eyebrows in confusion.
“Uh… light touch? I dunno… is this relevant to the training?” Wanda asked quietly, stepping back a little so she wasn’t too close to Nat. Although the two were beginning to bond over time, she didn’t want to feel like she was in Nat’s personal bubble.
"It could be," Nat smiled gently, "Can you step back closer for me so I can see if you have this sensitivity, it might be something relevant to combat," she said, the slightest hint of mischief hidden in her eyes.
Wanda gave her a confused and concerned look, but nodded anyway, knowing she could get away whenever she wanted. She raised her eyebrows at the ex-assassin before stepping back towards her.
Natasha gently set a hand on her tummy and gently fluttered her fingers over to see if Wanda was ticklish there.
Sure enough, Wanda flinched, stepping back immediately as she covered her stomach. “That… didn’t hurt?” She told Nat, clearly confused over what she just felt.
"It tickled," Natasha explained, "Are you uncomfortable?" she asked, making sure the young witch wasn't feeling taken the spy wasn't taking advantage of her. Wanda simply shook her head in response.
“No… it just felt like nothing else I’ve ever felt before. What has this got to do with sparring?” Wanda asked innocently, brushing the feeling Nat’s fingers left on her stomach away.
"Well, actually, this can be a good way to test for spots you need to protect," Nat smiled, getting in her fighting stance again, "You wanna try some blocking?" She asked, a playfully sinister plan coming to rise in her mind.
Wanda nodded, copying Nat’s stance the best she could, whilst still being overly cautious about what just happened and how Natasha could use Wanda’s lack of knowledge about it to her advantage. “Sure…”
Natasha smiled, throwing light punches toward Wanda, and when she turned a little too far forward, she tickled Wanda's tummy softly, "Careful not to leave yourself exposed," the redhead teased goodnaturedly.
Wanda done a pretty decent job at blocking her punches, but she couldn’t help but jump back and protect her belly whenever Nat attacked. “That is so weird! Why does it make me want to laugh?!”
"Well, scientists aren't sure but there's both a play and self-protection aspect to it. Most people are ticklish where they could be injured in a fight or battle. But, it's also how a lot of parents bond with their kids or friends or romantic partners bond too." Nat offered, smiling softly at her, "Your tummy appears to be quite a tickle spot. Do you think you're ticklish anywhere else?"
The young witch listened, she may have had brief moments where her parents got her when she was younger, but she had pretty much no memory of it. Although she was trying to think back to those innocent times, she ended up shaking her head in response, the trauma was too present in her head.
"Would you like me to see if you're ticklish anywhere else?" The ex-assassin offered gently, not wanting to push Wanda too far, but genuinely wanting to be closer with her and build a rapport both for her training and for the younger woman's benefit, and maybe even so she had another woman in the complex as a friend.
“Uhh… sure, I guess.” Wanda shrugged, unsure about what she just consented to, but went along with it anyway. “Do I… have to do anything?” She asked awkwardly.
"Either stand or lay with your arms above your head," Nat shrugged, "I promise none of it will hurt, but it could be a strange sensation for you. And you can tell me stop at any time." She reassured.
Wanda nodded, thinking it would be more comfortable to lay down, so she did just that. She got comfortable and put her arms over her head, still a little hesitant about the whole ordeal.
The Widow nodded, "I was hoping you'd lay, not sure if you're going to squirm," she winked, "I'm going to start off soft and gentle, okay?" She said, resting her fingers poised like spiders on Wanda's wrists.
"Tell me to stop anytime and I will the moment you say," Nat said as she slowly drug her fingers down Wanda's arm with the lightest of pressure.
Wanda scrunched her face up, nodding in response as she immediately slammed her arms down, shivering at the sensation. “It’s so strange…”
"Oh?" Natasha smirked playfully, wiggling her fingers above Wanda, but not touching her, "Would you like me to stop?"
Wanda shrugged. “I’m just scared I’m going to use my magic and hurt you by mistake or just smack in you in general.” She admitted quietly.
Natasha smiled, "Oh Wanda, I trust you. Besides..you might find tickling at certain levels makes you feel unable to use or remember that you have magic," she offered, running her fingers through Wanda's hair to comfort her as she looked her over fondly.
The younger woman nodded, slowly putting her arms up once again, bracing herself by letting out a breath. “Okay… I’m ready.”
Natasha smiled and nodded, "Okay, Ticktickticktickle!" She said as she lightly tickled down and then into her armpits, watching for Wanda's reactions.
“Why are you saying it over and over again?” Wanda asked, already beginning to squirm and bite back a smile, the sensation was already a lot for her as she attempted to keep her cool.
"Oh, it's teasing," Natasha explained, "It can make you want to laugh more and intensify the sensation," she said as she then tried skittering softly down Wanda's ribs.
Wanda nodded before letting out a squeal, she immediately shoved Nat away as she covered her ribs. “AH! That was so weird!” She giggled out shyly.
"But it didn't hurt?" asked the Widow.
“Nohohoho?” She replied, letting herself go now as she continued to giggle and kick out. Her kicks gave Nat the idea as she moved down to Wanda's feet and took off her trainers and socks, running a finger up each arch, "I wonder if you have ticklish feet?"
Wanda yelped and moved quickly to sit on her feet, letting out nervous giggles as she shyly poked her tongue out and shrugged in response to Natasha’s question.
"Oh? Not gonna let me get those huh?" Natasha teased and wiggled her fingers at the brunette, "So what do you think of tickles?"
“I don’t… hate them…” Wanda admitted almost silently, feeling extremely flustered as she shyly looked away from Nat’s wriggling fingers.
"No?" Nat smirked and surprised her with a few skitters into her tummy. "Want to try some sparring with a twist again…or do you want me to see if your feet are ticklish?"
Wanda flinched and squealed, shrugging in response. “It’s uh… up to you.” She replied, blushing as she covered her belly.
"Well it depends, do you want to try using this…tactic in our sparring or are you more curious about your own sensitivity?" Natasha said with a gregarious smile and a mischievous wink.
Wanda shrugged, knowing she was doing this with Natasha for a reason. As much as she was curious about the sensation, she knew she had to get trained up in self-defence. “What do you think?” She asked.
"I'd say we're off to a good sparring lesson so far, now show me what you learned," the Widow said with a wink, although she had plans to add some tickles to the mix.
Wanda nodded, her confidence growing a little as she took the opportunity to tackle Nat back down to gently dig into her ribs. “Am I doing it?” She asked, feeling a little shy about this but still giving it a good go.
"AHAHAHA! YEHEHEES!" Natasha squealed in surprise, "I DIHIIHIHDNT THIHINK YOUUHUHU'D BEHEHE SUHUHUCH a QUIHIHCK stuhuhuhuhudy,"
“Guess I am.” Wanda shrugged, shaking in for a few more seconds before pulling away, not wanting to take it too far as she offered Nat a shy smile.
Natasha suddenly wrapped Wanda in a tight one-armed hug, "You did good kid," she said, still blushing a little, but feeling closer to Wanda, "So, you wanna try some more blocking and get the rest of this training session knocked out, or shall we break for dinner?" She winked.
“We can carry on, just don’t be mean to me.” Wanda smiled a little, hugging her back before stepping away to stretch and crack her knuckles in preparation.
Natasha chuckled, "Mean? Never," she winked and stretched too, then stood in a fighting stance, "Ready, Sparkles?"
Wanda blushed at the nickname, shaking her head as she attempted to tackle her.
Natasha managed to dodge, but the attack forced her to move, making the Widow smirk at the younger Avenger, "C'mon Lightning Bug, hit me,"
“I can’t!” Wanda whined, continuing her slightly feeble attempts to hit her. “I just suck too much at this.” She told her, clearly frustrated at herself.
Natasha softened, easing out of her stance, "Let's try blocking again first," she said, kissing her cheek, "The best offense is a good defense,"
Wanda nodded, getting herself ready by stretching once more. “Okay… I’m ready.” She told Nat quietly.
The redhead threw a hit toward Wanda's center, hard enough to make contact but wouldn't cause too much pain. The Scarlet Witch bit her lip, managing to block the attack before Nat could touch her. “How was that?” She asked.
"That was great Wands!" Nat smiled and hugged her, "Oops, I'm so proud I'm breaking character," she winked at the young Avenger. Wanda just blushed and hugged back, before shyly and curiously poked at Natasha’s belly, wanting to explore more.
"Hehe, that tickles!" Nat playfully nudged her, but kept a close hug on her and let her, "You can explore if you'd like," the redhead offered softly, wanting to reassure Wanda this is a safe space.
Wanda nodded and kept poking and prodding at Nats sides and belly, biting her lip as she watched the ex-assassin for her reactions.
Natasha held somewhat strong, but couldn't help biting her own lip and giggling under her breath, "Youhuhu ahehre a gohohod stuhuhudent," she replied, as Wanda shrugged, secretly wanting to feel the sensation again as she wriggled her fingers along Nats belly now.
"Hahahah Hehey!" Nat squealed and then instinctually tickled Wanda back, squeezing up and down her sides, causing the young witch to squeal and slam her arms back against her sides.
“Gahah it’s so weird!” She giggled Noooo out, taking a few steps back as she wrapped her arms around her upper body, a shy smile on her face.
Natasha smirked, "I think someone is having fun," she teased as she wiggled her fingers at Wanda, glad this first training session turned into bonding.
Wanda bit her lip and looked away, trying hard not to crack a smile as she shrugged in response. “You are?” She asked shyly.
"I'm having a blast," she said and then pulled Wanda into her first tickle hug, causing Wanda to squeal and wriggle around, breaking into giggles as she tried to push herself away from her.
Natasha chuckled, "Awwww you've never had a tickle hug before have you?' she cooed and shook into the witch's ribs.
Wanda shook her head and cackled with giggles, wriggling around in an attempt to get away as she leaned back and gently shoved at Nat.
Nat decided to try a new spot and slipped a finger into her tummy button, wiggling like a worm, "Coochiescoochiecoochie coo Wanda!”
“AH-“ Wanda fell to her knees in a fit of giggles, squirming around and trying to push Natasha’s hand away from that spot. “NEHEHEHEEEE!”
"Oh noooo! I found Wanda's tickle button! Ticktickticktickle!' Nat teased as she gently went down with her, catching her to make sure she didn't fall and hurt herself.
Wanda blushed and covered her belly, thrashing around on the padded floor as she grinned. “Nononono you didn’t!”
"Yes I diiiid!" She said as she squeezed her side with one hand and got her tummy button with the other, causing Wanda to squeal and lean away.
“It’s sohohoho weird!” Wanda giggled out as she lightly shoved at Natasha’s hand. Natasha giggled, "But you're smiling so obviously you're enjoying yourself!" She said before letting up, "Ready to go again?" She said with her hand extended to the witch.
Wanda nodded, giggling a little as she took Nats hand and returned back to her original position, smirking as her confidence grew even more.
“Bring it on.”
