How does Mortem handle jealousy?

She doesn't. By that I mean, Mortem doesn't experience jealousy. She does not feel insecure about herself or her relationships typically enough to invite jealousy into her life. If she's ever insecure on something, it's situational and something she confronts head-on. Jealousy has no time or room to breathe and grow.

The closest thing I can give you to jealousy is how possessive she can be. It doesn't stem from a place of insecurity like jealousy tends to, however. It stems from being gifted a bond with another and being not just protective, but possessive of that bond. It doesn't manifest in the way of typical abusive relationships do. She doesn't seek to isolate, control, minimize the other(s). Mortem is just very aware of what someone means to her, that gratefulness for it being mutual has her coveting it.

It's similar to a child who grew up in a closet, getting glimpses of sunlight through the cracks of the door. She has lived in isolation for a very long time, when someone genuinely sticks around they are that sunlight she tries to hold onto. In a logical sense, she knows it isn't the way to do it but she's still growing in that area. Mortem tries to not make it someone else's problem, nor have someone think she doesn't value their ability to be independent. But it comes natural to witches that when someone is viewed as 'this is my person' or 'i think of you as my own', that they wish the other to be safe and comfortable because they know all too well what it's like not to be.

You add in her history and things get messy. She covets a mutual bond with another.

Jealousy doesn't factor in, however. Mortem has plenty of confidence in herself first and foremost, but she also has confidence in the relationships she forges with people. And if she doesn't? She processes it and then will bring it up with the other(s) involved. She has a very healthy ego, because arrogance often is a killer. Mortem knows the power of communication and expressing trust not just in actions, but in words.

Her life is a dangerous one but if you put that trust, time, effort and care into her she is going to return it in full. She will do everything in her power to protect it and if she can't... she'll tell you exactly why you need to run away from her for a time.

If Joel were here right now, she knows he wouldn’t like the looks of things one bit. Not because she’s in any sort of danger, the only real danger at the Tipsy Bison is whatever that cheap grog is that they keep stewing in the back. No, what Joel wouldn’t like to see is her having a good time, for once, without him. And that’s exactly what she’s doing. 

It’s a Friday night in Jackson, a town in which she can actually enjoy the luxury of having a real Friday night after a long week of patrol shifts. Joel, in all his brooding glory, had rejected her invitation to go out to the bar, telling her that all he wanted was some “fucking peace and quiet.” She hadn’t let that get her down, though, scoffing at his petulant grumbles and heading out by herself. And she was having a damn good time too.

“Goddamn, girl. Giving me a run for my money.” She grins at the man, idly spinning her cue stick in her hands as she walks along the pool table. 

“You better shape up then, or you’re gonna owe me another drink.” The man throws his head back in a laugh at that, his eyes crinkling up as he looks at her. His name is Teddy, one of the younger men around town who also works patrol shifts. She had a shift with him earlier in the week, and he had been warm and welcoming to her, still pretty new to the swing of things. It doesn’t take a genius to see that he’s flirting with her, and she’s happy to play along for now, knowing she’s got her grump of a man waiting for her back home, probably snoring in bed already. Love is strange, but she is Joel’s and he is most certainly hers, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. But for now, a little banter with this sweet boy isn’t going to hurt anyone.

“Watch and learn, Teddy. I’m gonna show you how it’s done.” The man whistles low as she bends over the table, lining her cue stick up with her target. So what if she’s hamming it up a bit? Shimmying her hips and flicking her hair out of her face. A small crowd has gathered around the table to watch her smoke this kid, and she’s enjoying the feeling of letting loose after being tensed up for so long.

She moves cool and slick around the table, driving home her last three balls before setting her sights on the eightball. It looks like a tough shot, and she revels in her confidence that she can sink it, feeling Teddy’s eyes sweeping down the slope of her back as she arches over the table. There’s a hushed swell of laughter and a few whoops when she hits the eightball clean into a pocket, and she turns and shoots Teddy a crooked smile.

“Pay up, boy. I want the good stuff this time, top shelf only.” Teddy barks out another laugh, but it quickly dissolves as his eyes flit just behind her. She feels him before she sees him, the solid warmth of him pressing up behind her and a broad palm splaying over her shoulder. He’s certainly not snoring in bed.

“You’ll have to take a rain check, son. She’s needed at home right now.” The low rasp of his voice tells her all she needs to know. He saw her, and the little moves she was making, and now, Joel Miller is pissed.

She can see the bob of Teddy’s throat as he swallows, nodding jerkily. She winces at the crack in his voice when he says that’s alright, he’ll see her around. Joel may be a grump, but he’s also a scary grump when he wants to be, like right about now as he’s steering her out of the bar with his hand still on her shoulder.

“Putting on a little show for all them townsfolk, darlin?” His southern drawl always gets headier, slower, when he’s angry. It’s never a good sign when she starts having a hard time pulling his honey-thick words apart. But she refuses to let him intimidate her, huffing as they trudge through town toward their house.

“It was just a little fun, Joel. I know you’re not too familiar with the concept, but—”

“Oh, you’re wrong about that, darlin. Me and you? We’re about to have a whole lot of fun.” So it’s like that. She can’t help the excited shiver that runs up her spine at his words, heat already starting to lick at her core. She’s known him long enough to know that when Joel is pissed at her, it can only go one of two ways. Sometimes, he’ll shut down and sulk off, keeping his distance until he’s gotten some sense back in his body to come talk to her. But other times, his anger flirts over into a jagged lust, only simmering to cool when they’re both too sore to bitch at each other anymore, a heaving tangle of sweat and pleasure. And judging by the hard flush she can see peeking out of his shirt collar as they get home, she’d put money on this being one of those other times.

The instant the front door closes behind her, he’s pressing her back up against it, swallowing her gasp as he licks into her mouth. She presses her palms into his chest to try to get some space, but he’s immovable, dragging his lips down her neck and nudging the collar of her shirt out of the way to suck searing bruises into her collarbone. She tugs harshly at his hair to get him to finally take a breath.

“At Dina’s.” And with those few gruff, syllables, he’s back on her, shoving his jean-clad thigh between her legs and pressing up hard into her core, her hips immediately grinding down to seek any kind of relief to the quick-building heat blooming up her spine. 

“You’re something else, you know that? Saw you acting so tough, so cool down at the bar.” His words are a smear across her chest as he works the buttons of her shirt open, dipping down to mouth at the fabric of her bra the moment he gets access, her back arching up into his mouth as she lets out a long sigh of his name. He chuckles into her skin.

“None of them know how sweet you get like this, though. S’just for me, right?” She chokes on a breath as his hand wrenches down the front of her jeans, rough fingers swiping through the slick pooling between her folds. He drags his nose up her cheek as he works one, then two of his fingers into her, her knees buckling when he crooks his digits just so, her cunt clenching hard.

“You better get me cleaned up, Miller. Made a damn mess.” He huffs, bringing one hand down and smacking the curve of her ass, making her yelp in surprise. She tries to kiss away the all too smug grin on his face, but it’s still there when she pulls back.

“I will. But first, I gotta know. Where the hell did you learn to play pool like that?” She lets out an exasperated laugh at that.

“Come with me to the bar next Friday night and I’ll tell you.” A low grumble resounds through his chest, but he’s still smiling as he shakes his head at her.

But, I don’t think it was a full breakup…but it was a discussion that was bound to happen at some point and I’m proud of Ed for explaining he and Stede went over the boundaries he tried to set, for realizing he wasn’t ready for this relationship yet and that he doesn’t know what he is……And that Stede was open to their relationship being “whatever” until Ed is ready

But god I’m still upset about his word choice and it’s been almost 24 hours since this episode dropped “last night was a mistake” still hurts very bad cause like I said…pipeline in Stede’s head to “I was a mistake”

I think it was an alright conversation until Ed said he was leaving (leaving Stede first so he doesn’t get hurt which is what I expected in s1 but figured would happen this season…tho not like this and this close to the season finale…yikes)

And Stede’s reaction about the fish, damn Ed was so proud of that fish…but my two cents, he wasn’t being malicious I think he was just saying one fish does not make one a fisherman

Oh but the “fishermen and pirates are nothing alike like” damn

I think laughing at the guy was part drunk Stede and also him covering up the pain of his other kill…idk how to explain

So yeah, rewatching this episode…it was alright and then got painful toward the middle and definitely second hand embarrassment worthy at the end but I thought it was a decent episode. Of course it had pacing issues but that’s MAX’s fault, not David’s

i don’t know if any tv show has ever given me as much of a stomachache as this episode, oooooooooof!!! the STRESS. (but honestly, the stomachache was 100% just suspense over whether gerri and roman would ever interact again. everything else, i was very zen about.)

hmmm depends on why the darling is frightened tbh are they always afraid or is this started after cerelos took them the first time? i do imagine he'd be pretty upset and even offended, though he won't outwardly show his feelings. he'd probably start ordering the servants to disappear whenever the darling is in sight, be invisible, to further isolate them, to force them either to face their loneliness and/or accept cerelos as their emperor and husband. since humans are in nature social, they'd naturally long for some form of company and possibly some skin to skin contact.

in short, since the coecrced sex doesn't seem to do enough, cerelos would've likely infict some psychological damages on his darling to force them to accept him. he wouldn't be…physically abusive, no, but he will emotionally and mentally cripple his darling without relying on cruel words and uses some amount of gaslighting.

regardless, you will only have him and you will love him. he is, after all, your emperor and husband. why wouldn't you embrace him and his power?

Though in general the more I think about the less I think Raven purposefully betrayed Summer, planned ahead. Ran - sure. Planned a betrayal of Summer? There's just been too many times where Raven was set up as betraying for ONLY POWER with further examination doesn't make sense. Spring -> Raven doesn't want powers. (Again cowardice and got stuck with the hot seat also an option) Qrow -> Spring Maiden + Portal to Qrow. If she wanted him dead *he'd be dead*. And drawing attention before ambush

oh i absolutely have doubts about what really happened with the previous spring maiden—partly bc they never spell it out that raven killed her, when talking about spring they dance around it, only heavily implying it, but the word 'kill' only comes up when yang talks about the raven tai told her about—but this time around i'm just. overthinking the line thanks to the new information we have lmao

like, this is what cinder says:

"the last spring maiden must've trusted you a great deal before she died. i bet that was a mistake."

and what my overthinking brain is getting at is that. well. raven is the only spring maiden we actually know about -> raven trusted summer -> was placing her trust in summer a mistake? is that the reason why she views summer more negatively in the present? is that why she reacted strongly to what cinder said?

then it loops back to kindred link; we don't know exactly how it works, but the bonds are at its core. and to bond with someone you'd have to be close with them, right? care about them, trust them. to have your trust broken hurts a lot to begin with, how much more would it hurt when you possibly have a constant reminder of it? actually, we don't even know if death is the only way for the bond to break, so if whatever happened between raven and summer was strong enough to break it... oof.

i do agree with you tho. under further scrutiny, i think raven intentionally betraying summer is a very compelling, potential red herring—which is exactly why i wouldn't be surprised if everyone else took raven's reluctance to talk about it as an admission of guilt and jumping into conclusions (already happened once in the vault with yang).

at the same time, it's not a possibility that i'm completely willing to throw out. there's still a lot of missing puzzle pieces, and i feel like every new discovery is going to drastically change the way it looks. and trying to figure it out is not made any easier thanks to raven managing to make herself look incredibly guilty but also being complicated enough that you never quite know what exactly she's feeling guilty about.

I know I said in a previous ask that in my mind, summer breaks are when it gets especially messy and seeing as we’re up to a summer break in the timeline, oof bestie I can’t wait to see what you have in store for them (and us).

Also, the first meeting between Zoe and Paige- I know that would be explosive, like Paige would just be constantly trying to prove that she knows Azzi best 👀

So uh, first actual post I guess. This is all random dumps (taken from my instagram stories, so they’re formatted weird lol) of symbols and things associated with Simon. I’ve never seen anyone do this for him before so mwahaha I guess I’m the first >:3c. Sorry if this is kinda just a random stream of words, I’m just getting a bunch of thoughts down and anyone can use this information for theories, art, story analysis, and etc later d(^^ ).

The first one is a bunch of possibility important references, primarily things from HoD, but also a couple from OoE and the Hanged Man Skeletons, which are explained a bit more in the second and third image. There’s a couple details I didn’t have the space for oof (T_T ). If I remember correctly, the Smiling Statue is found in the area where the Hellmont enemies are. I’m not exactly sure if there’s any significance to any of the statue placements, but they’re definitely supposed to be a Carmilla and Simon reference, not sure on who the Sage statue is supposed to be tho. My best guess is maybe Death since he’s the other Simon’s Quest boss lol, but the statue really doesn’t look like him. It’s interesting. The Hero statue is very obvious, Juste gets the little flavor text that “that’ll be me someday” kinda referencing how Simon looked up to Christoper in a similar way (yes, Christopher, he is mentioned in the first manual in Japan I believe, I should talk about him eventually). The whole Hellmont/Shimon thing is nuts and idk why it’s just never mentioned again. Like the name Simon has the ability to be a pun in Japanese on “Death Gate/Gates of Death” which is 1. Badass and 2. Ominous as heck! I also didn’t get to fit in the random family heirloom clock that’s in ghost Dracula’s castle for some reason in HoD, the one that has the nice description of having been “bought on the day your grandfather was born” (not an exact quote word for word but yeah). It feels significant to me idk, why would family heirlooms end up in there? Also didn’t mention the Bullet Tip (called “Christopher’s Soul” in Japan), but that one’s interesting too.

Also I wasn’t able to fit the OoE and Simon’s Quest maps on there so I might make a post about comparing them later :3. That Anna girl could be talking about someone else, but considering the similarities and references to Simon and his games in the rest of OoE (which I also should explain if I can manage to get it all together) it’s safe to assume she’s having nightmares of one of Simon’s fights against Dracula. Which is also interesting in the context that her whole side quests revolve around helping her cat protect her from dark spirits.

I know this wiki isn’t the most reliable source, but I’ve seen other sources that claim the skeletons on the outer wall of SotN and DoS (I believe) are supposed to be a reference to the whip swinging in CV4. It’s really interesting that they’d make a reference to Simon by having the skeletons be hung by one foot like the hanged man is commonly depicted considering the meanings behind that card, but since the position of the skeleton is pretty much the same in both, it’s probably intentional.

The last Chronicles one is kinda based on the assumption that these are rose thorns, but when looking up thorn symbolism a looooot of the specific red rose symbolism kinda started to line up really well. Roses also have a lot of religious significance too so I figured it wouldn’t be that big of a stretch to say they were rose thorns. Chronicles is not the first time flowers have been mentioned with Simon in mind however, I couldn’t fit it anywhere, but the Japanese text for the fastest Simon’s Quest ending mentions he “brought full blown flowers in next spring”, just a fun fact tho, idk how to add it into anything here tbh (-w-; ).

What was the most interesting about this dive into random symbols and other details was how often things ended up symbolizing “self sacrifice” and/or “martyrdom”! Usually twice or thrice wouldn’t be that big of a deal, but considering the vague nature of all the Simon’s Quest endings in all versions of the game and the general lack of focus on Simon’s story aspect, it’s pretty cool to see some things that line up like that :O! Also I am thoroughly aware that I might just be looking to deep into things and connecting things and aren’t there, but I don’t really care cause I had fun!!! :3 Anyway, do with this knowledge what you will, hope you guys like it.

REPTILE 2023 REVIEW

Fairly generic paint by number police procedural. Def TV movie vibes. It does stick the landing well emotionally and narratively in the last 30 min in my opinion, but your mileage may vary on if the build up is worth it or not

BIG win for Benecio Del Toro sad hangdog face enjoyers tho. he CARRIES.

Eric Bogosian literally only has like 5 min of screentime in the whole 2 hours 😭 but he does wear a cute plastic flower necklace in one scene + deliver one close dramatic line in the finale

Just a quick thing about music artist and astrology

I don't know if it is just a me thing but I have noticed that most artist that I relate to or even really vibe with musically tend to share some kind of astrology aspect or placement as me. For example: I listen to Mariah Carey a good amount and at first I didn't think much of it. I decided to look up her chart cause why not? She is an aries sun and venus with her venus being in retrograde and she has a sag mars. idk if you caught on but I also have these placements. I was like wow what a interesting coincdence.

It wasn't until I came across a post that said something along the lines of "If you want to find an artist you'll relate to look for an music artist with the same moon sign as you" and there was porbably other stuff said in that but its whatever. Anyways I decided to go through the artist I tended to listen to the most and this is what I have found so far.

Artist that I either share a placement or aspect with roughly

Kali Uchis: Has their sun trine their pluto

Ariana Grande: She has Venus trine ascendant like me. She also has her Pluto trine her lilith and while I don't have the trine aspect. I do have my Pluto sextile lilith in my chart. Her venus is apprently in the 9th house as well. Oh and in sidereal her moon is in Virgo which same. I'm a virgo moon no matter what it worries me sometimes...

Selena (honestly I don't think astrology has anything to do with my love for her but let's proceed): Venus trine Ascendant, Mars trine Pluto (i have a conjunction but oof bruh I don't care. I could only hope to be nearly as iconic as her). Pluto-Lilith aspect (hers is a conjunction and mine is a sextile so idk if I really count this one or not). Pluto sextile Ascendant where I have a Pluto trine Ascendant.

Nicki Minaj (mixed feelings on this): Get ready for this...

HOW DO ME AND HER BOTH HAVE A VIRGO MOON WITH A FIRE SUN SIGN. Honestly I did a synastry chart when I found her chart and bruh...HOW DO WE GOT 99% COMPATABLITY!? The one percent is only because realistically speaking 100% is never guarenteed when it comes to me and people. Now I will not be commenting on her as a person because oof dude. All I will say is that there is no doubt her music has impacted who I am as a person. Idk how but it has. I'm telling you I will listen to just her parts in a song just for nostalgic purposes. Anyways she also has Mercury conjunct Venus (not that important really), Moon-Mars (her's is a trine while mine is a square), Mars-Pluto (her's is a square while mine is conjunct), and she has both her venus and mercury squaring her moon while mine is an opposition. I think that last one is mostly because I have very early degrees on my mercury and venus in Aries. Moving on tho

Finally there is doja cat: Now she and I both have sag mars and virgo moons which is fun because then in sidereal we still have matching mars and moon so oof bruh. That should be enough for this portion of the post...

Final thing before I go...

I have a lilith in aquarius and idk but I really love cancer lilith people. The only way I can explain it is really just that because of my 12th house in cancer and/or my north node in cancer I have this interesting love-hate with cancer placements. I say this more along the lines of I will have one of two reactions. I will see them as basically family it doesnt matter how long I have know them for they are now my a part of my family. Or I want to fuck them. It's interesting becuase based on their other placemetns it can influence the feelings. Like if it is a cancer sun, sag moon combo they are basically like a little brother to me even if they are older than me. Or say it's a person with a cancer lilith I become a thirsty bitch but it's way too intense and I don't wanna scare them off too soon. I figured I would just include that for funsies.
