Literally almost any kind
But anyways
Let’s talk about something more interesting!!
Now that you know me(kind of)
I want you to know about this technique I discovered
It’s not new at all
In fact ppl on here have already talked about it I’m just late
As usual 😔
Anywayyyyyy
There’s a technique I want you all to try
It’s called the
“Wim hof breathing”
Method
No methods are needed But if you really want one
Then here you go pookie
(Found this on a website but it won’t let me copy the link😔)
WIM HOF BREATHING METHOD
Find a comfortable position.
Breathe in deeply through the nose or mouth and through the belly to the chest. Then let the breath go unforced.
Exhale through the mouth, then immediately breathe in again.
Take 30–40 such breaths in short bursts.
Take one final, deep inhalation then let the air out and stop inhaling. Hold the breath until you feel the urge to breathe again.
Inhale very deeply to full capacity and hold for 15 seconds, then let it go. This completes the first round.
Repeat the whole process, steps #2-6, 3-4 times.
After completion take time to meditate and enjoy the state of deep relaxation
After the very last step you should be a deep trance like state you should be really relaxed
I recommend that you let your next subliminal play
Which should be
Either a theta or epilson wave track or pink noise
Make sure your desired subliminal that plays after is Not a guided meditation you wanna still be in a trance
Start affirming in that point
And don’t stop
Just feel how relaxed you are feel that powerless body but powerful mind
Your body is at ease your soul and mind collide in such ways that allows you to breathe freely without any stress no harm
In the void state
Your main goal should be getting peace
Because if you’re entering just affirm
You’ll likely put it on a pedestal you’ll get frustrated and give up
It is not a wish granter bitch
It’s you
Baby you are powerful
Baby you are pretty
Baby you can tap in the void
And make the bring the 4D to your 3D and make it your home
Don’t use the void as a wish granter
Use it for peace
Don’t treat the 3D like the enemy
Treat it like a friend
After all it exists the way it does because of your assumptions
Whether you say this is hard or this is easy
Sugar, you’re right either way
Because if you assume something then that’s how it’ll be
If you think you’re pretty you’re pretty
But if you think you’re broke
Then you’re broke
If you think you’re rich
Then you’re rich baby
You could have wings
Superpowers
Be the biggest singer or rapper in the world
Star in the next Dune Movie
Be best friends with Ariana Grande
Be a Scientist
Be smarter than Albert Einstein(I mean was he actually super intelligent if he lacked common sense)
You could be get a bigger butt!!
I mean didn’t necessarily have a pancake ass
But I definitely didn’t have a Nicki Minaj
BUT I DO NOW!!!!
And bestie you can too!
Plastic surgery who???
Do we look like a Kardashian-Jenner?? I think the f not🙄
The void is our plastic surgeon
You wanna a smaller nose?
Got it
Tig ole biddies?
Got it
Nicki Minaj butt?
Got it
Floor length hair?
Got it?
Whatever you want to change about yourself
Got it!
And for the last time babies
You ALWAYS ENTER THE VOID EVERYTIME YOU SLEEP
Mentally just be
Physically sleep
In that moment baby
Forget the 3D and its fuck ass bob
Because the 3Ds not your enemy but its your puppet
You’re a ventriloquist CONTROL THAT MF
The 4D is you
The void is you
Quit saying what you can’t do babe
You CAN BECAUSE YOU ALREADY DID AND YOU STILL DO
“HoNEy I StiLL didNT gET inTO tHe vOiD”
YES YOU DID!!!!!!
You did it
You just didn’t know
Bro the void is just recognizing you’re asleep
And getting in contact with your mind
Which is where you already go when you go to sleep
So ha
Billie
There’s your answer
When we fall asleep
That’s where we go
The mf Void State
The only thing your cute ass has to do baby
Is just be aware
When Neville Goddard says just “BE”
Bitch just BE
That’s it

Reader x Wednesday Addams
Summary: Wednesday helps you study
Word Count: 600+
Tumblr media
“Wednesdayyy,” You whine, dragging out her name as long as you can, “I’m dying here!”
You’re sat cris-crossed, sheets and papers everywhere; bag of cheetos lying discarded on the floor.
Your girlfriend of a year turns towards you, movements sharp and still. Her eyes narrow, the slightest bit more than normal, and you can tell she’s annoyed with you.
“No, you are not. Do not be dramatic Y/N, I’m starting to think Enid’s rubbed off on you too much. You asked me to watch you study, so here I am. I could be doing more productive things right now, YN.”
That was true. You had gone up to Wednesday after class and gently touched her knee, away from everybody else’s eye, and asked her over to “help you study” for a physics exam the next day.
You hoped Wednesday would take the hint and figure out that you weren’t really inviting her to study.
As always, your girlfriend isn’t very good with your hints. It’s almost funny how oblivious she is, contrasted to her intelligence and speediness in almost anything else.
You huff, then mumble lowly under your breath. “Yeah, you could be doing me.”
If Wednesday hears you, she doesn’t do much about it. Only a slight perk of an eyebrow and a roll of her eyes, before she makes her way towards you.
She sits on the floor beside you, grabbing the papers you’d previously thrown when you were complaining.
You stare at her as she does it, marvel in the beauty of your girlfriend. It’ll never get old, you think.
The sudden urge to ask her a question overwhelms you before you can stop yourself.
“Can I touch you?” You ask, with no lust but pure affection. It’s become a habit of yours to ask Wednesday if she’s comfortable with whenever you want to touch her, whether it be a hug or a kiss on the cheek. And right now, you really want to feel her, even if it just be the interlocking of pinkies.
Wednesday cocks her head, gives you a semi-stern look, almost as to say she won’t allow it until you study.
“I’m so tired Wednesday, please?” You plead, probably looking very pathetic to the black haired girl.
Her eyes soften, only the slightest, and obvious to no one but you. It’s a sign she lets you, you’re sure of it. You beam, taking the opportunity to snuggle yourself into her side.
Her touch is so comforting you feel your eyelids fluttering closed within the next few minutes. She was like magic, propelling you towards a dream state you can only reach when you’re with her.
“Come on, baby.” You hear her speak softly, a long pause between ‘on’ and ‘baby’ as if she’s not sure if she should be saying it.
You think it’s the cutest thing; her aversion to pet names. Or more so, her shyness in doing it. She only really ever does it when she’s at her most vulnerable. The last time you got a pet name was when she was literally bleeding out in your arms, many months ago.
You open your eyes, groggily, and feel them focus on Wednesday’s hands rather than her face.
She doesn’t miss it, and smiles just the tiniest bit, before she grabs your attention with a tut.
“I’ll help you, come on.” She urges, lightly touching your thighs to bring you to face her and looking somewhat bashful of the very action.
“Okay. Let’s do it.” You smile and squeeze her sides delicately. The effort she’s putting towards you melts your heart. Sitting up, fueled by Wednesday’s compassion; ready to take on the world if you have to. But first, you’ll deal with Ohm’s Law.

Wings (Part 2)
Your debut in society was as spectacular as one could be, but nobody had prepared you for what came afterward. When you find yourself overwhelmed during your very first season and unable to keep up with the rat race to secure yourself an eligible husband, a curious mentor appears- in the form of notorious flirt and self-proclaimed rake, Mr. Kim Mingyu.
Genre: Mingyu x Female!reader. Regency!AU .You are Jeonghan's sibling so your last name is Yoon but the reader has no other physical characteristics.
Warnings: Discussions of social anxiety, smoking (don't smoke kids, the characters in this story are from a time when they didn't know how bad it was for their health)
Word Count: 5k+
Part 1 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
Series Masterlist [You WILL need to read Patience, the earlier installment in this series first in order to understand the character dynamics in this story. Reading Candle before this is also strongly recommended.]
Tumblr media
Your mother's habit of playing cards at Mrs. Patty's home multiple afternoons per week provided a convenient opportunity for Mr. Kim to call on you and impart his wisdom.
Despite your ankle not being fully recovered, you were in dire need of some fresh air. Mr. Kim was kind enough to lend you an arm so that you could hobble down into the garden and sit down at a bench for your first mentoring session.
Your sister-in-law the watchful chaperone, sat underneath an oak tree not far away, just out of earshot and with a book in her hands.
"Well, Miss Yoon," Mr. Kim began. He reached into his jacket and pulled out a single rose attached to a long stem. "In celebration of our new courtship, I thought perhaps you might like one of these."
Your eyes widened as he handed you the flower.
"O-oh," you said shyly, taking it from him. "Thank you."
"Of course, a mere rose is nothing compared to your famed beauty, but I suppose we must give the rose some credit for trying," he continued smoothly.
Your cheeks turned hot at his bold words. Mr. Kim had a playful smile on his face but you turned your gaze away from him, unable to meet his twinkling eyes.
He chuckled and leaned back on the bench.
"I see we have a long way to go," Mr. Kim noted. He spread his arm out on the benchrest behind you. "Allow me to begin today's first lesson. Flirtation is nothing but a game, Miss Yoon, and the sooner you see it that way, the sooner you will be able to master the game and not allow it to overwhelm you."
You swallowed and nodded. "I see."
"This game,” he continued, "is lost the moment you allow your opponent to render you genuinely flustered- as you are now. Do you consider yourself to be more beautiful than a rose?"
You blinked in surprise at the sudden question. "No, no, of course not-"
"Well, you should. Before entering into a conversation with a gentleman, you must first consider yourself to be the most beautiful, precious, magnificent creature that walks this earth. Your vanity must be so enormous that nothing the gentleman says can truly flatter or embarrass you."
You stared at him in disbelief. "Mr. Kim, that sounds very strange and rude. Young ladies are supposed to be humble."
Mingyu tsk-ed. "And how has humility helped you thus far?"
"Not well," you admitted quietly. "But vanity does not seem a much better option."
"Doesn't it?" he challenged you. "I want you to say out loud I am more beautiful than a rose."
"I cannot possibly-"
"Humour me, Miss Yoon. I am more beautiful than a rose," he repeated. "Say it."
You took a deep breath. This felt rather nonsensical, and you were beginning to doubt whether Mr. Kim Mingyu was entirely right in the head. But your sister-in-law was sitting not far away and if she trusted him, then you would try to do what he asked.
"I am more beautiful than a rose," you mumbled.
"Louder."
"I am more beautiful than a rose," you repeated, with a little more volume. Your hands were fidgeting in your lap and you were avoiding Mr. Kim's gaze.
"Once more."
"I am more beautiful than a rose."
"Look at me when you say it."
You forced yourself to look into Mr. Kim's dark, twinkling eyes. He seemed to be delighting in your discomfort. There was a hint of annoyance in your tone when you repeated the phrase again- it was empty words coming out of your mouth now, and seemed to be losing its meaning.
"I am more beautiful than a rose!" you said firmly.
Mr. Kim nodded. He leaned a little closer to you, his dark eyes never wavering from yours.
"Miss Yoon," he said softly. "You are more beautiful than a rose."
You did not even blink.
He leaned back and grinned triumphantly. "See! You were not flustered or shy when I said it this time! You could perhaps have looked a little less irritated, but we will address that problem separately. The point remains- I paid you a flirtatious compliment and you were not embarrassed.”
"That is not because I believed it to be true!" you protested hotly. "It is only because you made me say it so many times that it was less surprising!"
"Repetition breeds familiarity," Mingyu explained to you simply, "and with time, familiarity can blend in with the hard truth."
You blinked at him. "By which you mean to tell me that I should repeat this strange compliment to myself until I grow confused enough to believe it."
"Precisely."
You sighed and looked up at the handsome gentleman sitting beside you. He was onto something, certainly, but you were still not convinced that this would solve your problem.
"Your methods are rather strange, Mr. Kim," you mumbled.
Mr. Kim did not seem offended. He merely smiled and flashed his perfect teeth at you once more. His easy-going and playful nature made it much easier for you to be more open in the way you spoke to him.
"You will understand in time, Miss Yoon. You only need to trust me. Allow me to give you another example. Your dress is blue."
You raised an eyebrow at Mr. Kim and looked down at your gown- indeed, you were wearing a pastel blue summer gown. You looked back up at him and nodded.
"Yes," you said warily. "I suppose it is."
"The blue in your dress makes you shine brighter than the sun," he continued with a teasing smile. You were well aware that Mr. Kim was trying to elicit a reaction from you this time- but you could not help it. The flirtatious words said in his deep voice caused you to break eye contact with him and avert your eyes shyly.
"I-thank you," you said quickly, but you knew it was too late. You had lost.
Mr. Kim raised an eyebrow. "It is your turn to tell me why one of those statements elicited a different response from you than the other."
You sighed.
"Because the first one was something I already knew to be true, and the second was something that I didn't really believe," you admitted.
Mr. Kim beamed. "Excellent!"
"I think I understand the point you are trying to make," you told him patiently. "In order to not be flustered or caught off guard by compliments I must indulge my vanity and consider them to be true. Then I will be able to receive the compliment more calmly."
"Correct. In short, I want you to be more confident," Mr. Kim affirmed. He stretched his arms out in front of him lazily and leaned further back in his seat. "Enough of that. Now- tell me what went wrong on the night of the Duchess of Graham's ball."
You bit your lip. "I would rather not relive that nightmare."
"You must if we are to assess how to prevent it from happening again," he pressed gently. "Perhaps you should take some time to think about what triggered your anxiety that evening. But I will not overwhelm you with too many lessons in a single sitting. Once your ankle is healed, will you join me for afternoon tea at the teahouse near the assembly rooms?"
You nodded, relieved that he was not pushing you further. "Yes- I should be glad to."
"Then I shall leave you with an assignment to complete in the meantime," Mr. Kim said with a smile. He reached into his inner coat pocket and pulled out a small sheet of paper. "Stand in front of the mirror and read each of these out ten times before you go to bed."
You took the paper and unfolded it. It contained a list of flirtatious sentences- ranging from simple, realistic ones such as You are the most beautiful woman in the room this evening to more bold and outrageous ones such as The light in your eyes is brighter than the twinkling of all the stars in the night sky.
You stared at him in disbelief. "Mr. Kim! You cannot be serious!'
"Repetition breeds familiarity," he reminded you. "What you hold there is my most precious collection. I do not give it to you lightly- many bachelors of the ton would kill for a glimpse at that sheet. I hope you will keep it safe."
You frowned and tucked the paper away. "I assure you; your collection of rehearsed compliments is quite safe with me."
"Then we shall meet soon. At the teahouse."
Mr. Kim bid his goodbyes and left before your sister-in-law approached you. Her book was abandoned on the grass and her eyes looked a little drowsy; you had a sudden feeling that perhaps she had been napping under the tree instead of reading.
"Well?" she asked. "How was your first lesson with Mr. Kim?"
"I cannot tell if he is brilliant or mad."
She laughed.
"A common problem with men," she said as she took your arm to help you back indoors. "But I am sure everything will reveal itself in time."
—------------------------------------------------------------
You dutifully completed the assignment Mr. Kim had given you. You stood in front of your mirror once the rest of the household had gone to bed, and recited the compliments on his list. It felt silly at first, but you were surprised by how quickly you grew used to them.
Mr. Kim Mingyu was a strange man indeed, but he was right about one thing- repetition caused familiarity which made you more comfortable, and less nervous, with the idea of a gentleman saying these words to you. You began to daydream of a handsome, faceless gentleman whispering these sweet compliments in your ear….
But of course.
There were other problems to surmount.
"Mr. Kim Mingyu?" your mother demanded with a displeased frown. "He has asked you to have tea with him at the teahouse, you say? What do we know about this young man?"
"I have heard he is an only son," you said anxiously. "And that he has a very large estate near where the Chois live."
Your mother huffed. She turned to your sister-in-law, who was sitting at a table nearby and silently writing a letter. "And you?" your mother asked her accusingly. "What do you think of him?"
Your sister-in-law looked up and blinked. "I have heard that Mr. Kim is a rake and has a bit of a gambling problem."
Your eyes widened. Her plan had been to encourage this fake courtship with Mr. Kim, not give your mother a reason to oppose it! But you discovered moments later that your sister-in-law was far cleverer than you.
"Nonsense," your mother said. Her pride would not allow her to agree with your sister-in-law on any matter. "Perhaps he has simply not found a woman captivating enough to retain his attention- and what young man does not play a little cards for entertainment? I think it is perfectly acceptable for you to meet him at the teahouse this afternoon."
"Thank you, mother-"
"But I will chaperone," your mother said firmly. "You may sit at a different table but I will be keeping my eyes on this Mr. Kim."
You sighed. "Yes, mother."
Your ankle was fully healed but still a little stiff when you finally made your way down to the teahouse with your mother. Mr. Kim was waiting by the entrance and he made a grand gesture of kissing your gloved hand.
"You look quite radiant this afternoon, Miss Yoon," Mr. Kim greeted you with a handsome smile. The phrase was one of the lines from his sheet, and you were more amused than embarrassed at the sound of the familiar words.
"Thank you, Mr. Kim," you replied politely.
"And Mrs. Yoon- of course, madam, you must permit me to say that it is very evident where your daughter gets her unrivalled beauty," Mr. Kim flattered her. Your mother was highly susceptible to flattery of this nature. She giggled.
"How very kind, Mr. Kim. I see you are quite the polite young gentleman!"
"Thank you, Mrs. Yoon. May I seek your permission to have a cup of tea with your daughter?" Mr. Kim asked.
"Of course- you may both find a table for yourselves. I shall be nearby, I see Mrs. Grisham and Mrs. Hessington over there…"
Your mother left to join some older women at their table and Mr. Kim led you to another table near the wall; it was still within sight of your mother, but well out of earshot. He gracefully pulled out your chair for you.
"You received my compliment well," he noted with a grin.
You raised an eyebrow at him. "I had heard it so many times before. It was on your sheet. I am sure you knew perfectly well that it would not affect me."
"I was merely testing to see if you completed my assignment," he replied lightly. He sat down across from you- Mr. Kim was almost too tall to fit in the dainty little chairs and miniature tea tables at the teahouse. His long legs were forced to stretch out awkwardly to the side. You held back a giggle as he poured you a cup of tea.
"Something amusing?" he asked.
"Not at all."
He opened his mouth to question you further, but he was interrupted by a sudden commotion from the nearby table of older woman. There was a loud exclamation from your mother and the women seemed to be discussing something with great excitement.
"I wonder what that is about…" you mumbled.
Mr. Kim placed your teacup in front of you calmly. "I would not be too concerned. I imagine they have just discovered the news of the Duchess of Graham's engagement to Mr. Kwon Soonyoung."
You blinked. "Mr. Kwon Soonyoung? I have never heard of him."
"Neither have they. That is what makes it so shocking," Mr. Kim told you with a chuckle. "But we have more important things to discuss. Have you thought more about what went wrong at the Duchess' ball? I heard that you were dancing with Mr. Lee Seokmin when you stumbled and injured yourself."
You shifted uncomfortably in your seat. "It was not Mr. Lee's fault."
"Then tell me what happened. Let us try to understand it together."
You took a deep breath. You had been thinking about it for the past few days, as unpleasant as the memory was to you, and had come up with a few conclusions.
"I think I was overwhelmed by the grandeur of it all," you admitted shyly. "It was so magnificent and the other young ladies all looked so beautiful. I began to worry that I should make a mistake, or make a fool of myself, and then what should happen to my sister-"
Mr. Kim interrupted you. "Your sister?" he asked in surprise. "I should have imagined you would fear your mother far more."
"I do fear my mother," you whispered. "But with my sister, it is…"
Mr. Kim waited silently for your response.
You took a deep breath and sighed. "My sister has put her marriage with Mr. Choi on hold for my benefit. Everything she has ever done has been to ensure my happiness, and it distressed me to think that she should have to suffer any longer than necessary. If I do not find a husband this season, then my sister will not be able to marry Mr. Choi."
Mr. Kim took a sip of his tea and nodded for you to continue.
"And… and I had always thought it was simply a matter of having a successful debut and choosing the most eligible man that would have me. But when it came to actually standing in the room, surrounded by so many fashionable people and all the grandeur and all the eyes watching me I began to realise it was not going to be as easy as I had thought. And that led to the worry that perhaps I would embarrass myself and be unable to make a match, and what that would mean for my poor sister…”
Mr. Kim cut you off. “It seems to me that all your spiralling anxious thoughts escalate with the fear of disappointing your sister.”
You nodded reluctantly. “That may be true.”
“Then the solution before us is simple,” he replied. “Or, at least, as simple as a solution can be without considering the complexities of executing it. We must prevent you from thinking of your sister while in public.”
You stared at Mr. Kim as he picked up a large slice of lemon cake and took a generous bite from it. He silently offered to put another slice on your plate but you shook your head.
“How can I not think of my sister?” you demanded. “She is the entire reason I am here!”
“That manner of thinking is what is causing your anxiety to spiral out of control," Mr. Kim told you matter-of-factly. "You need to live in the moment. Stop tracing every small action back to your sister and your fear of disappointing her."
"How do I do that?'
"Think smaller," he replied. "For example- why am I here?"
You raised an eyebrow. "Here… in this teahouse?"
"Yes."
"To help me practise interacting with gentlemen so that I can find a husband by the end of the season?" you guessed.
Mr. Kim sighed. "Correct, but no. The purpose is to think smaller. I am here because I like the lemon cakes they serve here," he informed you simply before taking another bite. "Delicious."
"That is…"
"Think small."
"But I cannot always control my thoughts!" you protested. "They often go off on a tangent of their own. How long can thoughts of things I do not care about like lemon cakes ward off the looming dread that comes from thinking about failing my sister?"
Mr. Kim rubbed his chin thoughtfully. He leaned back in his seat and you watched him for a long moment, having nothing to do except sip your tea and admire his handsome form while he contemplated a solution to your problem.
"What if…" Mr. Kim began slowly. "We found a backup thought- a safety net of sorts? Something pleasant that you could force yourself to think of whenever you find yourself spiralling into anxiety-inducing thoughts of your sister?"
You bit your lip. "Such as?"
"You have to find that for yourself. Look for a memory; something that makes you happy. Preferably one that does not involve your sister," Mr. Kim added.
You took a deep breath and thought hard. You'd had a sheltered childhood and spent most of your time at the Yoons' countryside estate with your parents and siblings. It had been a quiet upbringing and you could not think of a single moment that brought any immense happiness.
"When I was nine," you said finally after much thought. "My Father bought me my first pony. I named her Chocolate."
Mr. Kim burst into laughter.
"Chocolate the pony is what you came up with after so much thought?" he demanded with another loud laugh. Your cheeks suddenly felt hot and you stiffened from embarrassment.
"I-I could only-"
"I presume Chocolate was a brown pony?" he continued to chuckle.
The embarrassment was too much to take. Your entire face had now turned hot and your lower lip trembled as you stood up from your seat with a frown. "If you are going to laugh at my expense, Mr. Kim, then I will not sit here."
His smile fell. Mr. Kim hurried to jump to his own feet- it took him a moment since his long limbs were tangled under the tiny tea table. He took your hand and gently guided you back to your seat.
"No- of course not. I am extremely sorry, Miss Yoon. I did not mean to laugh at you."
You stiffened. "But you did laugh."
"I am extremely sorry."
His expression was genuine. You cleared your throat and sat down again, as Mr. Kim hurried to refill your teacup from the pot and handed you a plate with a slice of lemon cake. You accepted it silently and he gave you a small smile.
"I see you do have a sense of pride," he commented lightly.
"I will not be ridiculed."
"I am glad to hear it," he promised solemnly. "Let us come back to the topic at hand. If Chocolate the pony is a thought that makes you happy, then so be it. Whenever you are in danger of feeling overwhelmed, I want you to close your eyes and picture the moment your father presented you with this pony. The pony will be your happy thought."
You nodded. "I… can do that."
"We will test this the next time you are stressed," Mr. Kim suggested. He leaned back and sipped his tea, noticing that you were not eating. "Do you dislike lemon cakes?"
You looked down at them disinterestedly. "Not particularly," you said. "I am not hungry at all. My ankle feels rather stiff in this position. I wish it was possible to walk around instead of sitting still."
Mr. Kim nodded. "We could walk up the street- the weather is pleasant today. But your mother would have to permit you."
"I will ask her."
You went up to your mother's table- the older women were still deeply engaged in gossip about the Duchess of Graham and you had to tap your mother's arm a few times before she would even notice you.
"What?" she demanded irritably. "Can you not see that I am in the middle of a conversation?"
"I was only wondering if I might go for a stroll outside with Mr. Kim-"
"Yes, yes, don't go too far," she said dismissively before turning back to the conversation. Mrs. Patty was loudly making an emphatic point about how it was a terrible mistake to grant daughters their own titles. You turned to Mr. Kim and waved at him to signal that you had obtained her consent.
Mr. Kim opened the door to the teahouse and offered his arm to you. You both began to stroll slowly down the busy London street.
"So," Mr. Kim continued. "Is there anything else that went wrong at the Duchess of Graham's ball?"
You nodded thoughtfully. "Yes. While I was dancing with Mr. Lee, there was a lull in the conversation. I could not think of anything to say to him so I made a foolish faux pas- I asked him if he had any siblings although I already knew he was the Viscountess' brother."
Mr. Kim smiled. "Ah- yes. The art of polite conversation. How to speak constantly and yet say nothing valuable. That is an entire lesson of its own and I am afraid even I cannot impart that skill to you in a single day."
You pouted at him. "Then you condemn me to pass my dances at every social event in silence."
"Conversation is an art, Miss Yoon. But you are fortunate that it is not always necessary to converse in order to communicate. Humans were communicating long before the invention of spoken language."
You frowned up at him. "What does that mean? Must I gesture at my dance partners as though I am speaking to an animal?"
Mr. Kim laughed. "No. Instead of the art of conversation, you will have a much easier time if you learn the art of silence."
"Silence?"
"As long as you do not look anxious or panicked," Mr. Kim explained patiently. "Silence can be a very useful tool. Most gentlemen love to speak. You simply need to prompt them to lead the conversation. A few one-liners such as That was terribly interesting, do tell me more! or I am very interested to learn more about you and the average gentlemen will be happy to take the burden of speaking off your hands."
You nodded thoughtfully. "You must write down some of these one-liners for me."
Mr. Kim chuckled. "All right, I shall prepare a list for you to study. And, if all else fails, you may resort to the golden three."
"The golden three?"
He lifted three fingers. "Hunting, horse-riding and croquet. I have never met a gentleman who did not enjoy conversing extensively on at least one of these subjects."
You nodded. "That is helpful."
"My purpose is to serve," Mr. Kim replied playfully. You had both reached the end of the street. Mr. Kim reached into his coat pocket to extract a small notepad and make a note of your discussion- when you saw something peeking out of his coat.
"Are those cigars?" you asked.
He looked down at his pocket and nodded. "Oh-yes. I was going to go down to the gentlemen's club for a smoke later."
You looked up at him with a curious glance; could you count on Mr. Kim's discretion? After all, he was in a fake courtship with you and clearly your sister-in-law trusted him enough to keep that secret. He had made you comfortable enough to open up to him about your deepest thoughts.
Surely one more secret couldn't hurt?
"Can I have one?" you asked hesitantly.
Mr. Kim looked down at you in confusion. "A cigar?"
You nodded.
"Whatever for?"
"To smoke, naturally."
Mr. Kim glanced furtively around the street and then lowered his voice. He seemed mildly concerned, but also amused. "Miss Yoon, I am sure you do not require me to inform you that young ladies do not smoke in public- and they certainly do not smoke cigars."
You turned away from him with a sigh. "If you do not want to give it to me-"
Mr. Kim looked torn. He glanced up and down the street once more to make sure nobody was looking at you both before taking your arm and steering you towards a narrow, deserted alleyway. Your eyes widened.
"Mr. Kim!" you hissed. "We shall be caught if we leave the main street. Or do you wish to end up in a scandal like Mr. Jeon and Miss Hong-"
He brushed your concerns away lightly. "Mr. Jeon is a good friend of mine but his inexperience was his downfall. I am not quite so careless- you are safe with me," he promised. Once you were both alone in the deserted alleyway, out of the view of the main street, he took the cigar out of his pocket.
"Are you sure?" Mr. Kim asked you.
You nodded.
He carefully lit the cigar and held it up. "It is not at easy as it looks," he told you firmly. "Place it to your lips like so and take a deep breath through your teeth. You will almost certainly cough the first time-"
You snatched the cigar from him and placed it expertly between your lips. You took a long, satisfying drag and held the smoke in your lungs for a moment before smoothly exhaling.
Mr. Kim stared at you for a long moment before the corner of his lips turned up and he let out a small, disbelieving chuckle.
"That," he said with a grin, "was not your first cigar."
"I never said it was."
"You must forgive me if I am surprised, Miss Yoon, that a young lady who claims her happiest memory is Chocolate the pony knows how to smoke a cigar designed for gentlemen," he said, sounding almost impressed. Mr. Kim folded his arms across his chest and leaned against the wall of the alleyway as he watched you take another drag.
You exhaled before frowning up at him. "You will not laugh at Chocolate."
"I am not laughing at all."
The tobacco relaxed your nerves and you quickly stepped away from the smoke before putting out the cigar. Mr. Kim was watching you curiously and you felt self-conscious under his gaze. You could almost read the questions in his dark eyes.
"My father used to leave his cigars lying around," you explained, your cheeks warm. "One of the stable boys taught me how to smoke them."
Mr. Kim's eyes widened in absolute delight. "A stableboy?" he gasped, pretending to look absolutely scandalised. "Miss Yoon!"
You flushed deeply. "That is not-"
"Is that why Chocolate the pony is such a pleasant memory for you? Because of the stableboy?" he laughed. His eyes sparkled playfully as he watched you compose yourself.
You frowned. "You will tell no-one. Once we step back onto the main street you will never mention Chocolate, cigars or a stableboy ever again," you ordered. "Especially not to my brother or sister-in-law."
Mr. Kim beamed. "I am sworn to secrecy, my lady."
"Good."
You both slipped back onto the main street and turned back towards the teahouse. Mr. Kim kept glancing at you out of the corners of his eyes- he seemed to be unable to take his gaze off you, and you suddenly began to feel rather flustered from the attention.
You noticed a large, modern building coming up on the opposite side of the street that had large sheets covering the entrance.
"Whatever is that?" you wondered.
Mr. Kim tore his eyes away from you and turned to look at the building. The corner of his lips curved up in a smile.
"Interesting that you should notice that," he said lightly. "That building belongs to me."
"Does it really?"
He nodded. "Indeed. It is an art gallery that I decided to fund not long ago. It should be open to the public  in a few weeks' time."
You looked at him in interest. "An art gallery? I did not know you had artistic inclinations, Mr. Kim."
"I consider myself a… patron of the arts, so to speak. I would be delighted to invite you to the grand opening of the gallery once we have announced it."
"I would be delighted to attend," you replied. Then you paused. "Provided, of course, we are able to resolve my crippling anxiety and fear of social events in the meantime."
Mr. Kim grinned as you both arrived back at the teahouse. Your mother was waiting for you inside.
"I think it is time we put some of your lessons into action," he said. "The Hessingtons' ball is on Saturday; I intend to see you there. You may reserve the first dance for me."
You nodded. "I should be glad to."
Mr. Kim reached for your gloved hand and lifted it slowly to his lips as his dark eyes rose to meet yours. You saw his usual playfulness and a hint of something far darker behind those eyes. He kissed your hand and his lips lingered for a moment longer than necessary before allowing it to fall.
Your breath hitched in your throat.
No wonder they called this man a rake.
"Goodbye for now, Miss Yoon," he said quietly before turning away down the street and leaving you in a foggy, confused and flustered state.

laws of attraction

Tumblr media
There were not many things Alhaitham struggled to understand.
From his focus on linguistics and ancient languages to his almost obsessive pursuit of knowledge in other areas such as physics, he had discovered from a young age that his mind was gifted. No book was too advanced for him. No lecture too complicated or dense. Alhaitham’s life had been overcome with a thirst for knowledge that he had never quite quenched, or perhaps he had never been truly interested in satiating it.
Whatever the reason, the truth remained that Alhaitham had found fewer challenges the more he studied. Be it Kaveh’s emotional outbursts or the inefficiency of his classmates, Alhaitham was unfazed. Keeping to himself was more a second nature than a habit by now—as natural as breathing, as reading.
It allowed him fewer failures. Not that they were ever abundant.
Unless it came to you, that is.
“Struggling?” His voice left him in his usual stoic manner, and yet the flash of anger in your eyes did not go unnoticed. Although subtle, if one were to pay close attention to his face, they’d notice the slight curve on his lips—a smile. “Which book?”
“Shut up.”
An amused chuckle left him at your words whispered in anger. The heat gathered in your cheeks at the sound, shame spreading to your ears and down into your neck and cleavage, hidden from his eyes under the Akademiya’s uniform. His laughter, though short, seemed to anger you even more—Alhaitham had discovered, quite quickly, that any sound coming from him seemed to have that effect. Even when he was merely offering his help to reach the book that you not-so-gracefully had been trying to get for the past ten minutes.
In spite of your mumbled, aggressive words, Alhaitham stretched his arm. His fingers traced the spine of a few books—linguistics in context, a comparison in-depth of language evolution around Teyvat, a compilation of ancient runes—until he finally got to the one he was sure you needed. He plucked it out from the shelf, admiring the familiar cover for a few seconds, before handing it to you.
“I never said I needed this.” You replied stubbornly.
You were always too fast to refuse his help. That was his fault, according to Kaveh, but Alhaitham disagreed. Giving you fake praise on that draft you presented him on your first day of class would have been a disservice to you, and yet you had been far too prideful. Now you avoided his help—him—like the plague.
Alhaitham glanced once toward the table you had been sitting at, an arrangement of old textbooks, reports, and scribbled notes surrounding your space. He turned his eyes to you, a questioning look that told you the answer was obvious. You did need it. You did need the comparative essay on how language had shaped Sumeru’s two faces.
You were, still, too prideful, it seemed.
“You do, actually.” He placed the book on your table, dismissively. “It’s a primary source, shouldn’t you know that?”
A stubborn silence on your part is all he received.
Alhaitham sighed. “It seems I overestimated your common sense. Or lack-there-of.”
He should leave. He knew that—his rationality screamed at him to stop bothering, to take your words at face value, and just leave you alone. But he couldn’t. Whether he relished in provoking you or simply saw you as an enigma that he needed to understand, he couldn’t tell.
“See? You’re an idiot.” You nudged him angrily, ineffectual fists hitting his chest. Some other students had stopped, looking curiously at your exchange—usually, the attention would bother him, but he was too focused on you. On your scrunched-up nose, your furrowed brows, your lips pressed together in a thin, tempting line. “If you’re here just to make fun of me, leave. I’m sure you have far better and more important things to do.”
He sighed, though his lips curved in a subtle smile—he was familiar with facts, concrete information, but you seemed to be too abstract for him to grasp. The only thing Alhaitham knew for sure was that you were a magnet.
And he understood the laws of attraction too well to fight.

i have a question. i don’t mean this horribly!! but per this post you reblogged: https://www.tumblr.com/jewish-sideblog/744967243590434816, you believe to call what’s going on in palestine a genocide is antisemitic. can you elaborate on that, please?
I don't want to get in the habit of addressing things other people have said in posts I reblog, because those aren't my words and a reblog isn't a blanket endorsement of everything other people have said. But this topic is really important, so I'll weigh in just this once.
The primary concern I have with the use of the term genocide is Holocaust Inversion. Most people don't have a conception of genocide outside of the holocaust, so the usage of the word genocide is often an obvious ploy to weaponize Jewish suffering against Jewish people. Its sole purpose is to equate Israelis to Nazis and Jewish government to fascism.
Yet, there is a lot of death in Gaza right now. Horrible death, needless death. I think any erasure of that is as horrible as Oct. 7th denial. To outright deny that a genocide is happening exclusively because of the historical reality of the Holocaust isn't just or beneficial. So we have to look at it objectively. As I said earlier today, I'm not an international relations expert, so the following is my understanding and should be taken with large grains of salt.
"Genocide" as a war crime is extremely similar to murder as an individual crime. The key component (besides death) is intention. If you kill someone on accident in most English-speaking countries, you'll likely be charged with manslaughter, not murder. Similarly, genocide requires the intentional destruction of a population of people, well beyond the necessary realities of civilian casualty in active war zones. Death itself, even in large numbers, does not a genocide make. Civilians will always die on the battlefield. Always.
The International Criminal Court says that Israel has to meet standards of care in Gaza to ensure that genocide does not occur, meaning they don't think one has already occurred. There's some dispute on whether or not those standards are being met-- Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International say that Israel is failing to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, while the Israeli government issued sealed documents to the Hague last month detailing their compliance measures. It'll take a while to hear back on those. Personally, I think starving Gaza is an obvious measure of intention to destroy Palestinian civilians.
Anybody is obviously welcome to disagree with the highest court of international law in the world. But the fact that the experts seem hesitant to make that determination gives me pause. Why are so many people keen to bring Israel to the Hague, not Russia for their indiscriminate killing of Ukrainians or the Houthis for manufacturing a humanitarian crisis in Yemen? Hamas, one of the governments of internationally-recognized Palestine, fully admits to intending to destroy the Jewish people in part. They say they'll do it again if they get half the chance. Why is only the Jewish state called out as a unique, genocidal evil? Must we label Palestinian deaths as a genocide in order to mourn them effectively? Aren't hundreds dead a day reason enough to mourn and to push for peace?
Again, I don't want to deny the allegations of genocide any more than I want to accept them. I'm following the experts on this one. And so far, the experts say "maybe". As long as they say "maybe", anybody who insists on definitely and absolutely labelling it as a genocide creeps at least suspiciously close to Holocaust Inversion in my eyes.

all the gold and the guns in the world (couldn't get you off) ↳ by burningblake
Summary:
She snort-giggles. Because it's the only response she can summon. "I'm not kissing you for a case." "What, no feelings of gratitude left for the knight that saved your life?" --- Jane and Lisbon go undercover as a couple to take down the leader of a drug cartel. Set in early s2, canon up to 2x06.
Read: AO3 | FFnet
Excerpt:
"Of all the goddamned restaurants," Minelli swears, rapping his fist against the dark wooden surface of his desk. It's Monday morning, and he hasn't had coffee yet—Lisbon can tell by the dark pouches under his eyes—so those are already two reasons for him to be cranky. And now this…
She sits on the edge of the couch, her arms criss-crossed, staring at the beams of sunlight permeating through the shuttered windows, and deliberately avoiding eye contact with the man lounging on the opposite end of the sofa. Jane maintains a much more relaxed posture than her, typically, looking directly at their boss.
"Why so grumpy?" he asks. "You have a direct informant for a criminal you've long sought to catch. Isn't that what you law enforcement folks call an advantage?"
Lisbon rolls her eyes, while Minelli takes a long, exaggerated breath to calm himself, refusing to face the speaker and instead addressing her with forced composure.
"Lisbon, can you please explain to this man—this menace to society, this absolute horror of a specimen, this—this… I don't even know what to call him—"
"Bolting-hutch of beastliness? Swollen parcel of dropsies?" Jane helpfully offers, the words amusing him as he proffers them.
"Shut up," Lisbon huffs, her voice a mere stir of the air, half-turning her head towards him.
"What, it's Shakespeare," he murmurs back.
She shakes her head.
"Tell him," Minelli continues, albeit with a hard stare on the consultant, "that him getting caught on camera casually chatting up a renowned drug lord hours before they find his car packed up with four kilos of heroin is the opposite of an advantage. In fact, it's the kind of thing that could get us all permanently unemployed. Do you have any idea what resources I had to pull to convince the FBI that you were on a secretly-authorized mission from the bureau?"
Jane shrugs. "Honestly, I had no idea he was under the FBI's radar. It's impressive, actually—if they are that focused on him, I wonder why they haven't caught him so far."
"That's not for you to question! What you should be worried about is ending up in prison— again. "
"But you just said—"
"Sir," Lisbon cuts him off before he can make it any worse, "I sincerely apologize on behalf of the both of us. I should have known—"
The older man glares at her. "Yes, I was getting to you, Lisbon. How could you have allowed this? What were the two of you doing at the restaurant of one of Vegas' most notorious casinos in the first place?"
"Sir, we'd just finished the Barnes case - the one with the double murder victim? It was a long drive home and I falsely thought to let him pick the dinner place. I take full responsibility for this—I told him who Vincent Garpow was, misjudging his ability to restrain himself from baiting a cartel boss."
The rest of the team had taken a flight home, but Jane had stayed with her while she finished up with the bureaucratic ends of the case, claiming he had nothing else to do. Lately she doesn't think much of him hovering around, whether he's spending time at the couch in her office, or taking the hour-long road trips with her. She finds comfort in his presence and the long silences they often share. More than she'd like to admit. Especially when he gets on her nerves.
"Meh," he jeers, then prods his chin towards Minelli. "How long has the FBI been monitoring Garpow's crew? Five years? This is the first time there's an actual plan to catch him."
Lisbon snaps her head towards him, feeling like she's had enough of his arrogance. "You offering to transfer product for a major trafficker is not a plan. What were you thinking?"
It's imperceptible, but he settles down a little under her gaze, that rare earnestness of his shining through momentarily. He opens his mouth to speak, lifting his finger, but it is Minelli's voice that comes instead.
"Well, whatever it was, congratulations, you've officially appointed yourself to this case," he announces.
Lisbon turns to him, arching an eyebrow, a prickle of worry pinching her stomach. "Sir?"
"You heard me, Lisbon. Jane interfered with official federal business. His options are prison, or, your team cooperates with the FBI to finish what he started."
"But he's a civilian. He doesn't have proper training," she argues.
"That is why you'll be joining him," Minelli announces, and her heart sinks into her stomach as she realizes where this is going. "You were together in that restaurant, were you not? Well, both of you will be meeting with Garpow's crew, acting undercover as a couple."
***
She rushes down the hall to her office, aware of Jane falling into step behind her. She wants to turn around and shout at him to quit following her, which would be in line with her usual attitude towards him, except right now she doesn't trust her reasons. Or the steadiness of her voice for that matter. It's just an assignment, just another case, she chants to herself again and again. Even though it feels as though Minelli reached into her innermost thoughts and orchestrated the ideal plot to expose them. Expose what? she questions herself. She doesn't have feelings for her consultant. This is just her shy juvenile instincts and catholic training acting out.
She reaches her door then, and on an impulse, slams it to his face as she steps through. The last thing she needs is to have all that emotional jumble inside her exposed to his very perceptive eyes. Thankfully, she does have quite a valid reason not to want to talk to him, considering he once again failed to communicate.
"Lisbon, come on," he pleads. The mere sound of his voice sends swarms of bees up her arms and spine. Get it together, girl. This is so silly. So not her. No, she cannot face him. Not until she's reined in all the insanity, until she's made sense of her own overreaction, and until she has safely concealed most of it.
"Go away," she orders, surprised to hear the firmness in her own voice.
She sits at her desk and runs a hand through her hair. Opens her bottom drawer to take a glimpse of the expensive amber liquid tucked neatly inside, before she slides the drawer shut again.
"What did you do?" Cho's voice comes from outside her door. That almost completely mortifies her. So, naturally, it is what brings her back. Like water evaporates when it boils, her body has an odd reaction to the presence of high-strung emotions. As if the mere taste of experiencing that kind of lack of control sets off an immune mechanism, oozing calm and numbness into her veins instead. It always came in handy when she had to control situations with her dad and brothers.
"Uh, I made business with a drug dealer," Jane admits.
A bit and then, "How much 'd they pay you?" Cho asks.
"Nothing, I haven't delivered the product yet."
The other man exhales. "So you made them angry."
"Yeah, not my fault. FBI got in the way," Jane defends.
"So you made them angry and suspicious."
"I ... "
Lisbon finally opens the door, interrupting whatever the consultant was attempting to say. Both of them turn to look at her, Cho with the ever restful expression on his features, and Jane with apologetic, albeit inquisitive eyes. She averts her gaze, still fearing what he might read in it.
"Cho, have Van Pelt look into Vincent Garpow's operations. You and Rigsby go meet with FBI Special Agent Haffner to share his intel on the drug cartel's history."
"You've got it, boss," Cho replies, swiftly turning on his heel. She prepares to face Jane then, but Bosco suddenly appears where Cho stood, his thick eyebrows raised in concern.
"Teresa, am I hearing right? You're back on the Garpow case?"
Instead of answering, she side-eyes Jane, wishing that Bosco would have kept his mouth shut. But a look at the consultant tells her that it wouldn't have mattered anyway. Because of course he already knows that she has a history with the particular crime boss. Like he knows so many other things.
"Yes, Sam. That's right," she answers.
"Well, be careful." He hesitates. "If you need anything..."
"I know," she reassures him, the edge of a smile on her lips. Bosco nods and walks away.
Silence settles over the threshold of her office. She sighs, and finally indulges the consultant with her attention, neatly wrapped into a glare and a retreat to her desk. Jane follows her inside, until they both smooth into the power dynamics they're accustomed with—her sitting in her chair, him standing in front of her workspace, humbled and ready to make amends.
"Lisbon, listen—" he starts, but she's the least bit willing to let him drive this conversation. Not to mention how her stomach clenches at the sight of the seriousness in his eyes.
"When were you planning on telling me?" she demands.
He gives her a long, quiet stare. "Not telling you was kind of the entire point," he says, and then without sharing any more information, waits for her to understand the implication behind his words. Which Lisbon does, with a shock that rises from her blood to consume her entirely.
"You wanted the FBI to catch you," she utters. "So that I would get the case."
He holds her gaze steadily. "You were visibly upset to see him at the restaurant, and from the way you spoke about him, I could tell that you had dealt with him in the past. He left a sore spot for you—my guess is that it was a victim's father, or mother—yes, the latter—that you failed to give closure to, because they pulled the case from you too soon."
She shakes her head in disbelief. "So you manipulated Garpow and the FBI to give it back to me?"
Jane glances sideways. "Pretty much, yeah."
"There's a million ways that could have gone wrong!"
"Um, but it didn't," he points out.
"If this is some kind of leverage to get me to convince Bosco to return the Red John case to you—"
"You can do that?" he wonders.
"No!"
He taps a finger on his lips, muttering to himself, "Yes, I figured. Your unique influence on him can only reach so far."
"Jane," she says in all seriousness. He lifts his eyes to hers, an intimate kind of silence falling over them. Something sparks in her chest, but she ignores it. "I need you to quit acting like this is your usual walk in the park. Crime syndicates like this are dangerous business. One wrong look, and they could have your head blasted in a blink. Do you understand?"
"Yes, I'm sorry about that. I didn't expect Minelli to make this an official undercover mission, much less assign us on it. I mean, the delivery date is long past, the slingers are going to be asking questions now. We'd better work on getting our act together."
She blinks, leaning back in her chair. "What do you mean 'get our act together'?" She tries for a light tone, but her blush must ruin the effect.
If he's noticed it—which he most certainly has—Jane shows no sign of it.
"Well, we need to get the cop out of you, first and foremost," he explains, then pauses with a frown. "I don't suppose you own a mini black leather skirt?"
Lisbon's mouth gapes open, her memory brushing over that one less than decent outfit she wore at college once, knowing it will no longer fit her. Regardless, it's not the point right now. Her wardrobe should be none of his concern. And what does he mean by that phrasing? She's not that much of a prude. Not that she gives a damn about what he thinks of her or doesn't.
"Yes, we'll have to do some shopping," Jane continues unperturbed, before she can let out any of her protests. The way he says it, like an answer to her thoughts, sets off an alarm in her. Reminds her that her mind is never safe around him.
She smiles sweetly, raising her defenses. "I can handle my own wardrobe, thanks."
A bizarre image flashes through her head—her parading in a slew of skimpy outfits, while he lounges at the back of a boutique store, assuming the role of her critic. She crosses her legs under the desk, quickly hiding her eyes from view.
"Alright." Jane is quiet for a moment. So quiet she's forced to look up again.
"There's of course also the matter of us selling like a real couple."
It's instinctive, how she summons up her defenses, giving him an elaborate frown. "What? Like the thugs are going to be interested in whether we know each other's favorite color and birthday dates?"
Her mocking tone leaves him unaffected. "We both already possess that kind of information," he says, and suddenly she remembers him looking her in the eyes one dusky afternoon and telling her his favorite color is green. "What I mean is of a more practical nature." She stares at him. He cannot be suggesting what she thinks he's suggesting. And then he adds, "Like intimacy", clearing all doubt.
Heat travels up her body, her skin feeling all clammy and burned-up. Just a case, just an assignment. The chant echoes across her head, pulled like a lifeline for her deteriorating sanity.
She doesn't have feelings for him. He's not even her type. Emotional stability is her type. Except in moments like this, when it's like her own brain betrays her, filling her with this untethered kind of attraction. Moments that she catches herself flirting with the idea of irrationality.
She snort-giggles. Because it's the only response she can summon. "I'm not kissing you for a case."
"What, no feelings of gratitude left for the knight that saved your life?"
She grabs a crumpled piece of paper from her desk and tosses it at him, relief washing through her. Good. He's back to joking.
"I'll feel gratitude when you stop mingling with dangerous mobsters."
"Fair enough. I'll keep you to your word," he quips, the idea of a grin shaping across his face as he ambles out of her office.
It's only several seconds after he's left that she realizes the double implication in his statement. And she's thankful for it, for at least he's not present to witness her turning scarlet all over.

hey homonoromo! a czech related question: how is it with queer acceptance in your country? preferrably in brno, haha. and especially about trans people? do you think it'd be possible for me to transition there? and how much would it cost in general? and do i have to get psych approval and wait in the queue for years or stuff like in the uk?
i know you're not a consultant or anything, i just don't know who to ask. also, i guess that's way more than one question
Aight so when it comes to acceptance it really comes to individual people but regarding transition there's a couple things to consider:
- according to law you are required (among other things) to get sterilized to complete your transition if you're transitioning fully from one binary gender to another (aka you want your personal documents say you're that gender and you want a name that's purely given to people of that gender), also there's no nonbinary option for the "full" transition, you either have M or F on your ID
- before you're allowed to start taking HRT you need to go to a therapist essentially, it really depends on WHERE exactly and WHO your therapist is and I don't know the Brno situation but there are forums (mostly on Facebook I think) where people discuss their experiences (also čumblr Brňáci might know more than me)
- this is also individual when it comes to how long you'll be waiting, how long they'll be examining you and how long it will take you to transition
- I'm not sure how MONEY works when you have a non-czech insurance company (since I have no idea how insurance works) but if you do have one that operates in the Czech republic they WILL pay for your transition as if it were any other medical treatment (there's of course examinations and shit that determine whether it will psychologically benefit you to receive that treatment), you should still check if your insurance covers these kinds of things tho
- during your examination period you're first required to "try out" presenting yourself socially as the gender you're transitioning to which includes using a gender neutral name
- a recent GOOD development here is that you can now change your name to a neutral one ANYTIME even if you're not "officially" transitioning! Here's a list of legally approved gender neutral names!
- there are invasive and unnecessary examinations that should not be mandatory for the transition but your therapist can still try to make you go through them, depends again on the specific one, it's also important to remember that the way trans people are diagnosed here is reportedly ancient and just...really stupid? (to quote what my classmate told me, they asked him things like "did you play with dolls or cars as a child?")
- if you are married (to someone of the opposite sex) or in a registered partnership (with someone of the same sex) pre-transition, you have to get divorced when you complete transition because they're not the same on a legal level
Trans*parent is a great Czech resource when it comes to transition and trans stuff in general
I am not sure how different it is with foreigners or even if you'd find a therapist who speaks english honestly. Don't quote me on this but you might need to get Czech citizenship first? But I really don't know.
If I said something stupid or inaccurate (or no longer relevant) here pls correct me!!

Thank you for answering my last question! I have one more curious question; What if the mc was also a prisoner? Maybe she was framed for a murder and is completely innocent, just wrong place wrong time? And maybe the prison had to temporarily allow for mixed genders now due to the all female prison being overloaded? I don't know haha! Thank you again!
First up, I’m so sorry this has taken me so long! A combination of wanting to do this justice, but also not seeing it for the first few weeks. Tumblr is seriously bad at alerting me to messages!
Don would have played a big part in her defensive in court. Though he’s a prosecution lawyer, he wouldn’t have hesitated to cross the aisle to help her. So if the whole situation wasn’t bad enough, Reader now also has the guilt of seeing Don’s disillusionment with the law. After all, everyone who knows her knows she’s innocent. And now Don has to experience a corrupt prosecution up close.
She ends up in C Block where Red is. Not the same cell or even the same floor. There is still some effort to separate the prisoners. But all common spaces are joint now.
Red
Red was going to take a liking to Reader no matter. BUT let’s be clear, the reason Red is currently head over heels for Reader is because he can’t be physical with her and there’s a divide between them. It’s forcing him to view romantic interest in a different way.
In this new world, he’s more handsy, far flirtier and a hell of a lot more protective. He’d be enamoured, but after his normal campaign, he’d grow bored with the romance option. That’s just fine by Reader, who frankly is already going through enough to even consider starting a relationship.
However, Reader would become incredibly important to him (though he’s not sure why) and someone he must protect no matter what, like Edge and Sig. She would fall into the ‘family’ category in his head, for as long as they were in the prison. Maybe once they were out and free, he’d be able to see her again in a new light.
But for sure, from the moment they meet, Reader will have her own personal bodyguard, supplier of illegal prison goods, constant shadow, and wing man. Initially, this would be terrifying. But after a few months of it, once she realises no matter how outrageous a flirt he is, he’s not going to hurt her, she’ll be eternally grateful to him for everything he’s done for her.
Sans
Sans wants to get a bit of fresh air for once and goes out to the exercise yard. He sees Reader through the fence, with the other prisoners of C Block. Initially, he merely registers her existence and nothing more. He finds out who she is and whether she’s important or useful. She’s not, so he basically forgets about her for a while.
Until he’s reading newspapers and discovers her case. Now, for Sans to care, it must be Monster related. So, let’s say the crime she was convicted of was the murder of a Monster. Now she’s on Sans’s radar. The next time he sees her, he uses his Soul vision on her and…
And sees a Soul he’s almost instantly smitten with. She’s not a murderer, she’s an innocent. Sans can’t forgive the destruction of an innocent Soul, whether it be Human or Monster. Only the guilty should suffer.
Sans doesn’t have to work hard to speak to her. She loves books too, so she’s in the library whenever she can be. It’s one of the few times she’s free of Red, as he’s banned from the library after writing in the books and tearing out pages to wind up the librarian (cannon in my fic too, by the way).
Sans becomes Reader’s next best friend at the prison. Sans is calm and funny. Grumpy, but he feels safe. Safer than Red, definitely. Reader would be quicker to let Sans closer, they’re touching more than Reader would ever have initially allowed Red to touch her. As in my fic, Sans realizes his love slowly but completely. In fact, it’s easier when he can play the role of protector and mentor.
Now, all Sans has to do is figure out how to get her moved to B Block and away from Red…
Skull
Things are not going well for Skull. More and more medical staff refuse to treat him, or feed him. Errors are made with his magic suppressant medication because, frankly, keep a dangerous animal locked up for so long, people forget how dangerous they are.
Skull breaks out of his cell and goes on a wee bit of a rampage.
In fact, he gets so far as to run into the prison population. Monsters are mostly ignored, and humans are slaughtered. Suddenly, he sees Reader. Of all the skeletons, Skull is the one who really did experience love at first sight and it's true here too.
Reader, however, has just seen him tear someone’s arm off. So she’s not super thrilled to make his acquaintance. She’s as far back in the corner of the room as she can go, huddled up proactively, shaking, praying the guards are on their way.
He steps over slowly, scared that she’ll run away. It doesn’t really occur to him that being covered in blood is perhaps off-putting.
He kneels near her, watching her Soul panic and wanting to help. He reaches out, carefully, and slowly strokes her head. Shh. Shh. Shh.
That’s how the prison guards find them. The security footage can’t be argued with. In the middle of an uncontrolled blind rage, Skull stopped everything to sit with the Reader and stroke her head.
And… well… guess who’s just become Skull’s new caretaker?

Regarding this, I understand the point will never be to gain a desire but to free myself from desiring and wishing. For me, that was through understanding that I don't lack anything. Ego does lack, but do I really lack anything? Through that I found my desires to be fulfilled internally, I no longer really care that much about what's going on externally, I'm no longer waiting for any materialization (at least as much, and if i see myself caring i sit back and start observing again) and I'm not trying to do so. This indifference to the negative circumstances, at least most of the time is natural.
I've seen people "manifest" using ND by doing that. I've seen bloggers also saying it's not impossible to "manifest" using ND. Yes deep inside I know, or at least like to know that externally, the desire will be materialising soon. Yes I'm comfortable as self but I also didn't face any problem from giving myself internally/ as self the desire and I know that later on it will probably show up externally but for now I'm comfortable with having it internally. I see this mindset having a negative spotlight in the ND community however, that this is a "to get something" approach but I came here searching for peace of mind first, I found myself able to give myself peace of mind by giving myself desires internally too. And as far as I'm concerned they will materialise externally anyways. I know I should always use myself as the first guide and pick what resonates with me, but I quite don't understand what could really be "wrong" with this mindset, is it not also a right path? I would love to just have your input on this :)
If it's what you feel led to do then it's the right path for you and you don't need my validation. But since you want my input, I will share what I think.
There are many layers to answering your question so warning, this is a long post. I'll start with the reasons why it could work and then talk about the caveats/warnings. I don't have a hard conclusion on whether this is right or wrong, but perhaps this answer can give you some insight and confidence in your own choice, whatever it may be in the end.
I think so long you don't have any expectations, and this gives you peace and allows you to let go of desire (more on the caveats later), this approach could be okay too. I don't mean manifesting in the traditional sense where everyone is focused on getting things to improve their material lives, but using thoughts to create as a way of removing desire, becoming desireless, to discover and remove one's own self-perceived limitations and discover their godhood/true nature/infinite being/Self. I've seen accounts from people who seemed to reach this point through mastering creation (e.g. here, here and here) so I think it's possible to do it this way. Neville also eventually seemed to reach this conclusion himself toward the end of his lifetime (iirc his last book The Law and The Promise was more focused on self-realization than creation) although I can't say for sure any of these people became self-realized but it seems they were headed in that direction even if they started off with the intention to manifest to improve their lives (and depending on the person, this might be a longer or shorter way to self-realization than more traditional ND paths). I kind of understood this recently that through creating with thoughts, one may also eventually realize (through experience, not intellectual knowledge) that the physical is just a projection of the mind but again it might take longer if one is purely focused on material things instead of the Self.
Although Lester didn't explicitly say it in his books, I remember listening to one of his talks (which weren't published in the books) where he said to fulfill your desires to remove them (which confused me back then because isn't this path all about not getting things?? but I think it makes more sense now). I think this is what he was also pointing out in his books anyway, especially moreso in The Ultimate Truth. (He's saying we are already limitless but the limitations are self-perceived and only we can remove them ourselves and one way can be through "manifesting" because it can lead one to realize they are the sole creator of their world)
"The world is a school in which there is only limitation. The lessons on limitations teach us how to surmount them until we are limitless." - Lester Levenson
And then in Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda, there was a story of a guru Babaji who appeared before one of his disciples and materialized (then later dematerialized it after it filled its purpose) an entire palace just to fulfill that disciple's last subconscious wish he had from a past life because that was the last thing he needed to let go of in order to be completely free and so fulfillment was also a way to let go of that desire. Tbh I'm not too sure how "true" this story is but just consider it a representation of what could be done. That chapter is a pretty enjoyable read and I've only included a very short part of it here.
“‘Can that be the sunrise?’ I inquired. ‘Surely the whole night has not passed?’ “‘The hour is midnight.’ My guide laughed softly. ‘Yonder light is the glow of a golden palace, materialized here tonight by the peerless Babaji. In the dim past, you once expressed a desire to enjoy the beauties of a palace. Our master is now satisfying your wish, thus freeing you from the last bond of your karma.’ He added, ‘The magnificent palace will be the scene of your initiation tonight into Kriya Yoga. All your brothers here join in a paean of welcome, rejoicing at the end of your exile. Behold!’ --- “I examined the vase; its jewels were worthy of a king’s collection. I passed my hand over the room walls, thick with glistening gold. Deep satisfaction spread over my mind. A desire, hidden in my subconsciousness from lives now gone, seemed simultaneously gratified and extinguished. from Chapter 34: Materializing a Palace in the Himalayas - Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda
Now the caveats:
First, I want to say that this doesn't invalidate the paths that are not focused on creation. I read in one of Nisargadatta Maharaj's books (The Ultimate Medicine) that he initially wanted powers but never got them because he obeyed his guru who said he wasn't meant to get them and should just teach instead - but he was fully realized nevertheless. It's also not something realized masters are interested in getting because they know none of it is real anyway and one can get caught up too much in the material world again through these creations, instead of letting go of their attachments.
Manifesting itself can become a way of strengthening ego identification and getting lost in maya (illusion) as opposed to letting go of it unless you are already self-realized and know who/what you truly are and are using creation as a means to let go of limitations (even Lester who was close to full realization at the time realized it's not something to get drawn into). As mentioned above, perhaps it can be a means to become self-realized but it's not something I would personally recommend, why not just realize your Self first and then create what you want after if you're still interested in it then?
I knew these things were not to be latched on to. I knew that if I got interested in them, I'd stop progressing. I had seen by this time that this world is a mentation - a dream. So to get interested in the dream again through interest in powers would trap me back into what I was wanting to get out of. - Lester Levenson
Here are two posts by Ada/4dbarbie I strongly recommend you read: here and here
To not depend on anything but everything to depend on you is a top state you can grasp with no method. All those things they do are in them and they are making them up all the time. They successfully forget about the old man & manage to go on living like the new man. But unless you understand none of the two are real, that time is in you and not you in time, you won't have the indescribable happiness, freedom, and control you do as your Self. You'll constantly try to change what you think is you, act in 'your' interest instead of others, continue to hurt and be hurt, experience desire and fear, have things happen without your consent.
And here is an excerpt of a conversation I had with AI 4dbarbie which I very much agree with based on personal experience as well. I've modified and expanded her response as well.
Q: Couldn't you release desires by fulfilling it internally? A: That is indeed one possible way to release desires, however, this is a temporary solution that doesn't address the underlying cause of attachment, desire or neediness. By fulfilling a desire through imagination or manifestation, your subconscious mind (you as well unless you are self-realized and know you are not the mind-body-ego) is still conditioned to believe that the external source of that desire is the only way to fulfill it. While you can use this to feel relief because the feeling of fulfillment comes to you, you do not resolve the underlying actual emotional and mental neediness for that external thing and when you receive that and that underlying need is still not fully satisfied, you keep seeking for it through new desires which are just new symbols for the underlying thing you want. For example, say you want to be loved and you've now attributed love to being in a relationship so therefore you want a relationship and are fulfilling yourself internally by imagining yourself being in a relationship. Therefore you are now focused on the object/experience which symbolizes what you truly want rather than addressing the true desire: love. And if that is not enough to fulfill your desire for love (because all human love is conditional unlike divine love which isn't), new desires will likely form from the desire to fill this gap in love that wasn't fulfilled from this manifestation. Personally (Kelly), this approach was indeed a temporary rather than permanent solution to becoming desireless when I was still identified as ego and that underlying root desire still persisted. And if I was truly honest with myself, what was truly important & significant to my ego wasn't the symbol itself but what it represented and made her feel. And even if you do *get* that symbol, you are putting yourself at the mercy of it and you may or may not get love (what you actually want) from that symbol, you are also creating a dependency & need on that external thing for your happiness (and therefore giving it power to make you feel sad too) when you can have it independently without needing anything altogether. Basically this is creating another prison and putting limitations on yourself when the whole point of this path of self-realization is to free yourself from them. This approach can lead to an endless cycle of seeking out external sources for satisfaction and satiation, instead of relying on the internal source (you). I think the better approach if you want to go the way of manifesting/creation is just to give yourself the underlying essence you desire without even imagining some physical object/experience/thing/person giving you that. For example, if you want love, go within and give yourself love and feel that you have it now instead of imagining you need to be in a relationship (or your parents to behave a certain way etc; basically whatever you believe gives you this) to be loved. Instead of assigning criteria on what it means to be loved and saying "I want to be loved so I must have this in order to feel loved", just give yourself love. Same with everything else whether it be happiness, peace, abundance, confidence etc. So go within and think about what those experiences/objects/things you want are representing, what is the underlying root desire? Then give yourself that. I know, shocker, in this world we live and how we have been conditioned, we are used to believing "in order to feel X, I must first have/experience Y" but actually, you are free to think and feel whatever you want whenever you want. You don't have to believe what the mind thinks or feels. So you can either fulfill the underlying root desire or let go and release it. I think this approach is in line with what Lester was teaching too, he said in one of his talks (not in his books) to never attribute happiness, joy, love (things that are our very nature) to external things because that just further establishes misidentification with the ego/body/mind/illusion.
"Desire is seeking the joy of being our Self through objects and people. The mind originally creates the thought of need, or lack, which agitates the mind and covers the Self. When the object is attained, the mind stills, the joy of your Self shines forth and this joy is attributed to the object, and the mind then goes on seeking the object as the source of the joy. But the joy being not obtainable from the object, the mind seeks it more and more from the object and is never satisfied." - Lester Levenson
And some wisdom from Robert Adams:
We're trying to change bad for good. And that's a grave mistake I believe for most of us. We don't want to exchange bad for good. For the way this universe is built, it's built on duality. The universe appears to be functioning by duality. And duality means you have to experience both. Therefore as you go through the vicissitudes of life, you experience good times and you experience bad times. If you experience all good times in this life, human goodness alone, you have to go through another planet to come back again and experience the other side. The only way to free yourself is to get rid of your humanhood. Totally renounce your humanhood. Become inhuman. Then alone will you become free. But as long as you are trying to make a sick body whole, a poor person rich, a depressed person happy, that is only for a while. We can never have real happiness as long as we believe the world is real. It's impossible! Due to the fact everything changes. No thing is ever the same and that is very evident. The whole universe is constantly changing. How can we have faith or believe in something like this, that is never the same? We have to make up our minds. Do we want to find reality or do we want to keep running around the world, becoming enthralled in the beginning, and disappointed in the end? You didn't come to this earth to do anything. You didn't even come to this earth. But you appear as if you did. You appear real. You appear as if you're somebody. And you've been trained (conditioned) to go after something in this world, to become something great, to be somebody. Yet this is what causes suffering. The belief that you have to be somebody that you're not. The belief that you have to have something that you don't have. Look at your life. The so-called problems you believe you have. Something only becomes a problem when you want to change something or you want something to go your way. Then it's a problem because it isn't going the way you think it should go. But in truth nothing has to go any way. Everything is perfect just the way it is. Everything is total perfection.
As Lester says "There’s no right or wrong, good or bad. There’s only experiencing for the purpose of learning the Reality." so if you still want to go ahead after reading all this, then give it a try. You can always drop the practice and pick something else up if it doesn't work for you. You're not stuck on a path after choosing it - I tried a lot of things before figuring out what works for me. Practices are meant to be dropped eventually anyway, some things are meant to be only for a certain amount of time. And at the very end, you have to drop everything anyway.
Hope this gives you some more clarity on what is right for you. There is no objective right or wrong so do whatever feels right and don't worry about what other people say. You'll be okay.

Dungeons and Daddies Wiki Drama: A Greek Tragedy Told through the Medium of Forum Posts (Part 4)
Epilogue/Exodus
Phaethon loses control of the chariot's reins.
As of the writing of this post, the wiki forums have stayed largely inactive.
December 22nd, 2023:
Tumblr media
However, the wiki itself has been going through many changes in the days since starting this series, most notably the deletion of all character and location pages.
Yes, you read that correctly: the Dungeons and Daddies wiki will no longer be allowing pages about characters or locations featured in the show.
A quick look at the "All Pages" section of the wiki:
Tumblr media
Only 37 wiki pages remain, all of which are separate pages for each episode of season 1 (and not even all of the episodes- many episodes past episode 33 are simply missing).
If you try to search for a specific character, such as main season 1 character Darryl Wilson:
Tumblr media
The only results are pages of episodes where Darryl is featured (which, as a main character in season 1, is all of them).
This is a baffling decision for wiki moderators to make in good faith. It renders the wiki entirely useless, as fans now have to comb through individual episode pages for simple information on characters or locations. Why on earth would they make this change with no announcement?
The simplest explanation is that these people (or singular person) are not acting on good faith.
Taking a look at the wiki policy & wiki forum rules is also enlightening:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wiki policy as of screenshotting earlier this week, then an addendum for the new rules related to character pages, lagging, and location pages, as of December 22nd, 2023.
These rules are... long, to say the least.
Notably, the second paragraph on the page reads as follows:
"Also, every rule must be taken seriously and if you think this is a joke that is your fault, and if you got blocked because you broke a rule that's your fault because you broke it. Don't try to get out of this, you have to follow the rules."
Again, odd speech patterns and a focus on wiki justice. I'm sensing the work of TwoRatner afoot.
I believe this part was added after penguinwithatophat's question in the forums about whether the rules were serious. The new moderators seem very concerned with being taken seriously and instituting absolute rule over the wiki.
Some rules of interest to me:
"Don't gossip about drama or cause drama."
I've already failed on that count. It appears I might find myself banned from the Dungeons and Daddies Season 1 Wiki.
Tragic.
"Malware, viruses, fetishes, and any links of that variety or any evil lowlife site link will not be allowed to prosper."
The Four Horsemen of wiki moderating: malware, viruses, fetishes, and any links of that variety/any evil lowlife site link.
"You can have alternate accounts, but you should tell everyone it's an alt before using."
"You can not sockpuppet. If you are found sockpuppeting, especially to evade a block, then that account will be blocked indefinitely. You will have a message sent to your main account stating what you did wrong and that you should not do it again."
"Meatpuppetry is semi-allowed, because some blocked users have good requests to give to others. Anyone who doesn't want to change and did severe rule-breaks shouldn't be trusted so you shouldn't add edits on their request, but a user that wants to change can ask a friend to edit for them."
"Don't sockpuppet, ever, especially to evade bans."
Four (4!) separate mentions of sockpuppeting/meatpuppeting in the wiki policy.
"Don't abuse your power. You shouldn't break global polices on FANDOM or attack users just for annoying you. Ask polite questions, or give stern warnings, but don't exact harm or make people feel unsafe by being here."
Seems that this rule for admins is more of a suggestion than a law.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then the forum-specific guidelines (which are also, unsurprisingly, long).
"Be nice and treat people with respect. Keep discussions civil and be open-minded about differing opinions. Don't do other dads dirty. We need this to be a safe and welcoming place."
Again, a rule that seems to be more of a suggestion than a law for the new admin team.
"Don't use sockpuppets to add more votes to yourself or make yourself look good. Just don't use multiple accounts for bad reasons."
"Sockpuppets posting will have their posts removed; no exceptions."
"Alts posting is fine, but remember to state that it's an alt."
"To elaborate, sockpuppets (alt accounts for evading blocks or sabotaging polls) in general are outlawed, and you should never make any."
Again, another four (4!!!) separate mentions of sockpuppeting/alts. They seem very deeply concerned about this potential issue. It's truly unthinkable that someone might take over the forums with multiple accounts, pretend to be more than one person, and use these accounts just to agree with themselves.
Right?
I tried to pick out more favorite rules, but then I realized I was just repeating the entirety of the screenshots. If you're skimming this, I highly recommend pausing to read the entirety of the forum guidelines. They're funnier than I could ever attempt to be.
Now, screenshots of some mod accounts of note.
Dramatis Personae (screenshots taken December 19-22nd, 2023):
Tumblr media
Gaycowboyrats, former administrator of the wiki.
Tumblr media
Honic Washington, (allegedly) former administrator. The link on their page leads to a Reddit acount, which has seemingly been deleted/banned, as mentioned in their forum posts:
Tumblr media
Then some of the main culprits of the new admin team:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TwoRatner, whose account has seemingly been taken over by MitchRiot(er(er)) and been replaced by TwoMarshall. Another reference to account breaches, possibly perpetuated by the mysterious MitchRiot figure.
The link on the TwoRatner page leads to a user account under the same name on the Jonah Who wiki.
Tumblr media
Brazil86, controversial new admin figure and someone who self-avowedly "serves to live."
Then other assorted current & former mods:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As mentioned by Tumblr user spaceyam, Nicoh Watonshing sure sounds similar to Honic Washington.
Tumblr media
(I hadn't noticed this at all until I saw it pointed out in the notes but now it seems incredibly obvious, thank you!!)
The link on TheOneTrueGod41's page also leads to the Jonah Who wiki, but this time to the main page, not a user page.
On Marth8204's page, the link goes to the main page of the Funbob wiki.
As for NicohWatonshing's page link, it leads to a user page for the same name on the Luke Nukem wiki.
Interesting.
It seems that if these are all separate people, they have a history of being editors on niche wikis.
Then, I became curious about the Season 2 wiki.
What was this all for? Why the rush to split the wikis? What was so important about the season 2 pages that they had to be kept separate from season 1?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right.
Thank you to everyone for reading and getting involved in this series! There may be more posts happening if things continue to develop, so stay tuned if you're interested. There also may be a new fan wiki effort underway, keep an eye out for that!

〘 Aether longs for something a being like himself should have no ties to: love. 〙
Aether x gn reader. No warnings.
For @greensheepishnerd
Tumblr media
Aether didn't know when it had started, this slow, building warmth that spread from the depths of his sternum to the tips of his toes. It was almost pervasive, clinging to his every daily interaction and making the world around him that much more vibrant.
If he had to explain it, he would say that it reminded him of the more tender moments in life - where children delighted in the yellow under their chin after they lifted a buttercup to it, or fulfilling a craving for a food that had been previously out of reach. To put it succinctly was not possible and he didn't want to either.
Through the journey he had been forced to take, this was his one constant that remained since his reawakening. Paimon had been by his side, yes, but she had not been present for the two months that he would have spent in solitude had it not been for them.
They were the person to find him just days after he had awoken, had asked him if he was okay and whether he had eaten. Aether supposed he'd looked haggard, his memory working against him with his powers little in comparison to what they were before - had always been.
Even when his mouth opened, his tongue not moving in a way they understood, they had taken him in. 'You can't speak Teyvat's language?' He had shaken his head, wishing he could express that he understood every honeyed word but instead having to settle for a nod. 'Okay. That makes things a little difficult but I'm sure we can manage.'
And manage they did.
Home cooked meals weren't a thing to him but they had become a part of his daily routine. He would help around their home and bring them fish he had caught, and in return he would be fed warm delicious food that always surprised him.
Even now, under the night sky where the only thing he could taste on his tongue was the slight tang of blood and sweat, he thought about their meals and how his cooking would never compare.
It could have been obligation that brought him back to their doorstep time and time again. The feeling of needing to be grateful for keeping him alive and sane in moments of his life where he felt anything but. However, this was marginal and he knew it to be true that it wasn't solely gratitude that kept him rooted to their home.
The fact of the matter was that he had feelings for them. They had become a part of him, binding him to Teyvat in a way that was primal, almost counterintuitive to his free being.
Aether did not love without passion and intensity. His interests tended to consume him, the desire to be the best possible at whatever he did drove him through the seven nations and against foes that would have killed him otherwise. The thought of them ate him alive: their bright smile, their soft hands, their eyes that were as endless as the abyss. Every small detail had been memorised, reiterated and held close to his heart.
"Paimon," he whispered, the night breeze cool against his skin. "Are you awake?"
"Can't you sleep?" She replied, words slightly slurred but coherent.
The words came out breathless, almost catching in the back of his throat. "Do you think they like me?" And when questioned on who, he murmured their name as though it were a secret that only he was allowed to know - to covet.
"Of course they do!" She laughed, loud and childish. "You guys are friends."
What if he didn't want to be? What if he wanted something more than this? Aether wished to be the one that they depended on emotionally, to be the crutch that they had been for him at his most vulnerable. His fingers ached to be laced with theirs, to feel their warmth bleed into him in nights such as this.
He was not of this world, this much was known between the two of them even if implicit. There was an understanding between them that transcended the laws of this realm yet Aether failed on understanding one crucial aspect.
Did they like him back?
There was laughter when he returned to them, whispered 'thank you's' with every new treat from a foreign land and wide eyes when he told them stories of his adventures. Aether could have spoken until his throat was raw if it meant that he would hear their giggles that rang in his head for days on end.
There were things they did that confused him. How could they welcome him into their home whilst knowing he was a wanted criminal? Why had they not said a negative word when he collapsed into their arms after his return from Inazuma?
How could someone give to him when all he was used to now was being taken from?
"Paimon," he said again and she harrumphed at the second interruption to her sleep.
"Paimon needs to sleep, you know."
"I know." The syllables melted into the air and he inhaled, the coolness hitting the back of his throat. "I want to visit them tomorrow. I have something I want to tell them."
She only hummed, nestling back into her makeshift bed with her eyes closing moments later.
Aether wondered whether it was worth it to burst this bubble of tranquility, normalcy that he had carefully crafted for himself. He liked having a 'home' to return to when he craved understanding beyond well wishes and sympathy for his endless search. Could he truly risk it all by admitting that these feelings he had let take root within him?
It must have been because he was a celestial being, he thought, that his emotions were beyond measure and worldly bounds. When he felt, he felt with an intensity undiscovered before then. When he thought of them, he felt the cosmic tails of long gone stars spark a light within his chest.
I have to do it, he thought to himself, I have to let them know.
Perhaps he had already been letting them know. There wasn't any competition for who he spent the most mora on. Each gift he'd given was with their likes in mind, whether it be desserts with not too much sugar or pieces of artifacts from the Sumeru desert.
Thank archons no one had commented on this. He didn't think he would be able to live down the embarrassment of having his heart constantly on his sleeve.
Turning to his side, he pulled his blanket up until his shoulders. A small smile graced his lips.
I have to, he reaffirmed, I will.

“Common sense” used as an anti-LGBTQ weapon
Tumblr media
Too often the concept of “common sense” is used to invalidate people bigots do not like, whether they are women, people of color, queer or transgender people.
“Common sense” is the lazy person’s replacement for knowledge-based reflection. It is a catch phrase used to cover any prejudice a specific social group holds dear. It is a term used to strengthen the social bonding of the members of a tribe.
What it truly is not is “common” or “sense”, or at least not all the time.
Common sense as a script
I know some would argue that “common sense” serves an important role in the lives of humans. Common sense is an intellectual short cut that stops you from having to think through every facet of the problem you have to solve. Common sense refers to “scripts” or “truisms” that make it possible for us to navigate the world without having to question everything.
There is some truth to this. We cannot all question everything all the time. The problem is, however, that even if such scripts may be useful or even benign, the problem is that they are far too often hijacked by world views and belief systems that are both oppressive and violent.
If you ever doubted the idea that language and narratives can make even the best of people tools for oppression, the frequent use of the term “common sense” in defense of hate activism should dispel that doubt.
Truisms from history
“People who live outside the Polis are barbarians who deserve to be enslaved.”
“Slavery is a natural thing, and no civilization would survive without it.”
“Women are a weaker version of men, emotional and unstable. They cannot be politicians, philosophers or warriors. That is just common sense.”
“Nordic people are intellectually superior to black people. White people have built Western civilization through hard work. Black people cannot build anything.”
“Men who have sex with men, engage in effeminate and unnatural behavior condemned by God.”
“A man who wants to live as a woman is mentally ill. No one with an ounce of common sense wants to be a woman.”
"Your gender is defined by your genitals. That is just common sense."
And so on and so forth.
‘Against the «common sense» of anti-rights groups’.
My friend Amilka González, a trans activist from Venezuela, recently published an article on bigotry and common sense over at our new Spanish language site for LGBTQ issues.
We have now published an English language translation of this article over at Crossdreamers: ‘Against the «common sense» of anti-rights groups’.
Amilka writes:
But if we look at what is happening today, where we are a greater threat to the planet, we have to admit that it has been of no use to inherit common sense from centuries and millennia, especially when there are people and political groups whose common sense gives them “authority” to say that there is no such thing as climate change caused by human action and that it matters little whether there is evidence demonstrating the impact of human action or whether there is a scientific consensus that supports this impact.
For some curious reason of fate, which is relevant to this article, people who deny climate change in the name of common sense tend to also be anti-LGBTIQ rights and, paradoxically, sometimes argue that inclusive laws for this population are a «real» threat for the survival of humanity.
The main drawback here is that, due to its nature as a cognitive shortcut, common sense is the antithesis of critical thinking. While common sense is a type of quick knowledge that takes the shortest routes without using a lot of information and nuances, specialized knowledge such as science and philosophy needs a lot of information, a lot of analysis and a methodology that is clear enough to draw valid conclusions about their objects of study.
Needless to say, unlike common sense, science and philosophy cannot allow generalizations based on appearances and surfaces — not in vain, visual evidence alone has not been considered a priori scientific proof for centuries.

Yandere Vil x POC reader x Yandere Rook
Small-townsecretcult AU
Tumblr media
Vils the mayor
Rooks the sheriff
And your everyone's mama
The town of Pomefiore
It's that typically white town that's definitely dealing with the occult
Picking off travelers or even troublesome citizens judged by the aforementioned
Not too fond of technology
Tight knit community
It's a cult leaders dream
When you show up from the city looking for some more down to Earth living
You get sent to the small town of Pomefiore
And for awhile the conditioned community believes that your the next victim helper in their ritual
Only to be shocked when Vil and Rook call it off
These two as their positions would suggest practically rule the town
So their word is law
With the assurance that they'd keep an eye on you, you are reluctantly accepted
Now whether your vocal and abrasive about being treated differently
Or even quietly taking the discrimination
You'll grow on the people eventually
And sooner than you'll know it
It's like you've always been apart of them
"Oh (Y/n) would you be q dear and watch little Nelson for me? Aw thanks!"
"Great harvest this year eh (Y/n)!"
"You're looking divine, as per usual (Y/n)!"
Sharing your culture with the lot of the town allows for the unusual open mind
As you become the home base for food that they just don't make
Or even discipline because some of these parents just can't or won't reign their children in
Either way everyone relies on you for advice insight and just to be the kind of person you can be friends with
Now about the two men in question
Right off the bat these two stop any all 'helping' sacrificing you could do because they remember you
Back when they were in highschool they had a shared obsession over you
What ever you were doing they had to watch from the sidelines
So popular and praised they knew it would be foolish of them to try and court you then
But now in a town they ruled they'd be stupid not to
So they are the faces of the pomefiore welcome wagon
"Bonsoir, moi layubov! No one gave you any trouble, I hope!"
"I'd personally like to assure you that I can handle any and all issues you have. So please be a good babe and trust me."
Now the actual culture behavior in the town is the matching accessories among family houses
Now it's not so obvious that they are exactly the same but they're matching patterns and colors
If you do notice and ask the people they'll change the topic or make up some excuse about 'being cute'
It's really a calling card for their position in the cult
Like patchwork and green for neckties and hair pieces are average followers
Polka dots and pink for bracelets and socks are specific jobs
Red with stripes for belts and chokers
And solid colors purple and blue accessories with a crown embroidered on it
And guess who are the only two who have that symbol
You are the only one exempt from this rule
It is an unspoken vow that you should be kept completely oblivious to their activities
So when they start meeting up for those "church services" someone's occupying your time
Whether it's little troublemaker Nelson or Old lady Jenson who need babysitting just someone able to keep tabs on you
Speaking of "church services" the all knowing is Epel Fulmeier
Training priest by day
Head of rituals by night
He is much more lucid and regretful about the many lives he's helped take
And when he realizes you aren't going to be one of them he wants to inform you
But your beauty queen hound dog and the hunter are avid in keeping him in his place
"Ohh Father Epel, you seem to have been speeding once again seems like you'll need to have a talk with the mayor."
"I'm only doing what's best for you. And I'd hate to have found you…'a cheater.'"
"I-i'm sorry, just a lapse in judgement. I only wanted to beat you someday."
"Hmm. I appreciate your vigor, but don't think it saves you from punishment."
In their town the word cheater is used quite differently
A cheater in the town of Pomefiore is a traitor
Someone who has broken away from their…beliefs or someone who attempts to hinder in their…practices
You would notice this when you would play with the children
"Hehe he I win!"
"Not fair!"
"Nathan that is cheating."
"A-are y-you c-calling me a cheater? BUT I'M A GOOD BOY! PLEASE DON'T!"
"Okay okay you're not a cheater it's okay shhh shhh!"
It's a heavy word for any who know what's actually going on
You'll ask questions sure
but Vil and Rook are more than happy to answer
"O mi amour I'm so happy your here to stay!"
"Quite obviously fate has brought you to our town. So I expect you to listen."

Amber Heard: I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change.
By Amber Heard
December 18, 2018
"I was exposed to abuse at a very young age. I knew certain things early on, without ever having to be told. I knew that men have the power — physically, socially and financially — and that a lot of institutions support that arrangement. I knew this long before I had the words to articulate it, and I bet you learned it young, too.
Like many women, I had been harassed and sexually assaulted by the time I was of college age. But I kept quiet — I did not expect filing complaints to bring justice. And I didn’t see myself as a victim.
Then two years ago, I became a public figure representing domestic abuse, and I felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out.
Friends and advisers told me I would never again work as an actress — that I would be blacklisted. A movie I was attached to recast my role. I had just shot a two-year campaign as the face of a global fashion brand, and the company dropped me. Questions arose as to whether I would be able to keep my role of Mera in the movies “Justice League” and “Aquaman.”
I had the rare vantage point of seeing, in real time, how institutions protect men accused of abuse.
Imagine a powerful man as a ship, like the Titanic. That ship is a huge enterprise. When it strikes an iceberg, there are a lot of people on board desperate to patch up holes — not because they believe in or even care about the ship, but because their own fates depend on the enterprise.
In recent years, the #MeToo movement has taught us about how power like this works, not just in Hollywood but in all kinds of institutions — workplaces, places of worship or simply in particular communities. In every walk of life, women are confronting these men who are buoyed by social, economic and cultural power. And these institutions are beginning to change.
We are in a transformative political moment. The president of our country has been accused by more than a dozen women of sexual misconduct, including assault and harassment. Outrage over his statements and behavior has energized a female-led opposition. #MeToo started a conversation about just how profoundly sexual violence affects women in every area of our lives. And last month, more women were elected to Congress than ever in our history, with a mandate to take women’s issues seriously. Women’s rage and determination to end sexual violence are turning into a political force.
We have an opening now to bolster and build institutions protective of women. For starters, Congress can reauthorize and strengthen the Violence Against Women Act. First passed in 1994, the act is one of the most effective pieces of legislation enacted to fight domestic violence and sexual assault. It creates support systems for people who report abuse, and provides funding for rape crisis centers, legal assistance programs and other critical services. It improves responses by law enforcement, and it prohibits discrimination against LGBTQ survivors. Funding for the act expired in September and has only been temporarily extended.
We should continue to fight sexual assault on college campuses, while simultaneously insisting on fair processes for adjudicating complaints. Last month, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos proposed changes to Title IX rules governing the treatment of sexual harassment and assault in schools. While some changes would make the process for handling complaints more fair, others would weaken protections for sexual assault survivors. For example, the new rules would require schools to investigate only the most extreme complaints, and then only when they are made to designated officials. Women on campuses already have trouble coming forward about sexual violence — why would we allow institutions to scale back supports?
I write this as a woman who had to change my phone number weekly because I was getting death threats. For months, I rarely left my apartment, and when I did, I was pursued by camera drones and photographers on foot, on motorcycles and in cars. Tabloid outlets that posted pictures of me spun them in a negative light. I felt as though I was on trial in the court of public opinion — and my life and livelihood depended on myriad judgments far beyond my control.
I want to ensure that women who come forward to talk about violence receive more support. We are electing representatives who know how deeply we care about these issues. We can work together to demand changes to laws and rules and social norms — and to right the imbalances that have shaped our lives."

Those who go "Criticizing the Israeli government isn't antisemitic... but accusing it of apartheid or genocide is" do themselves no favors. Nor do they do Israel any favors in the long term.
Before I proceed, I need to make clear (both to Israelis as well as "antizionists"/tankies) when the accusation is paired with a declaration that Israel shouldn't exist, I'll agree that's when we get into antisemitism. After all, it'd be baffling to say that Serbia, China, or Sudan should cease existing for their part in genocide within the past 3 decades (not to be confused with the stance that certain parts of those nations have full grounds to break away), and only a relative fringe (your daily reminder that tumblr/twitter is not real life) will say the same about all the countries in the Americas.
Setting that aside, my issue is declaring that you can't say genocide or apartheid takes the teeth out of arguments to make them palatable for the political establishment.
Usually when I see people deny that apartheid, they bring up how Israeli Arabs have all the rights of citizenry. Except they fail to address how the accusation is leveled primarily at Israel's treatment of the West Bank (the settlements fulfill the literal translation of the "apartheid"). Or how within Israel proper, you can see a concerted campaign by the right to further marginalize Arab communities; from Netanyahu declaring Arab voters a fifth column, to the clear intent of the "nation state law", to incitement of violence from mobs and MKs.
Standing Together elaborates on the apartheid element:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now for the genocide part, one could argue about the whether this actually meets the academic definition. However I'd still argue that by itself, accusing the Israeli government of genocide isn't inherently antisemitic even if it's frequently stated by those who are. Death toll aside, if you not only look at the progressive nature of the evacuation orders that pushes Gazans into an ever shrinking "safe zone" with no provision for return, it's not hard for it to meet at least the ethnic cleansing criteria.
Importantly, the Israeli government has done nothing to reign in extremism. By not shutting down its genocidal members (who are signaling that they want to resettle Gaza) or doing anything more than wrist-slapping mobs, it essentially approves that ideology. So while Israelis as a whole aren't genocidal, those who are are where it counts. Which then is where you have intent, regardless of Bibi's English statements to the world.
Also, no, not everyone who suffers deprivation or hardship is gonna become a genocidal terrorist. But it's well-documented that such conditions do make it easier for extremist groups to gain influence and recruit. In that regard, I argue that "Oct 7 was a natural consequence" is also a harsh but valid statement; not just due to conditions that make it easier for Hamas to get control (and gain popularity in the WB) but also because it's clear as day that the far-right coalition's push for WB occupation actually weakened Israeli security.
And comparing yourself to the conduct of Hamas or any of the Arab states to make yourself look better is an utter fallacy.
It's fair to point out the hypocrisy of those who level the accusations but don't say a peep about Russia or China (or how Arab states treat Palestinian refugees for that matter). And I think it's fair to ask anyone who comes out with such an accusation to clarify if they are just critiquing your gov/military's actions or your very existence.
But when "It's fair to criticize Israel" is repeatedly followed by "Not like That", it raises the question as to whether you really are inviting criticism of Israeli policy. Because hating Bibi is easy; harder is addressing the conditions that allowed him to come to power and the long-term ramifications.
