Bkdks are just so transparent and easy to read. The people who rant now and want "justice for iida" are the VERY SAME people who always call him irrelevant to the story, boring, annoying, talk down his friendship with izuku and still havent forgiven him being rude ONCE to izuku in the very beginning of the manga before he and izuku even were friends (ohhhhh but anti bakugou people have to forgive bakugou ABUSING izuku for 12 YEARS, right?) and unlike bakugou didnt need over a century to apologiez! Lets be real, there is maybe just 1% of bkdk shippers who are really mad that it wasnt iida. For the majority thats not what the real problem is. They arent mad, because iida was "swaped" with ochako in the opening, they are mad because it was ochako and NOT bakugou! NOT ONE OF THEM would complain if instead of ochako reaching her hand out for izuku, if it would have been bakugou! Despite that there is no such moment in the manga between them! Its all about their shipping agenda. The anime can be as inaccurate as possible, bkdks dont care as long as bones highlights izukus and bakugous relationship even if its not manga canon.

Once more it's just other shippers trying to take a stab at BkDks and for what? Because they can't let it go. They're just bored and can't help but be asses.

For one, a lot of BkDks I have seen NEVER said Iida is boring or that irrelevant in any way. When it comes to other characters, I have seen a lot of BkDks defend them, Iida being one, Uraraka being another.

Hell, ask a BkDk who their favorite female character and most likely you'll get Ochaco Uraraka aka Uravity as an answer

No one is upset that it wasn't Bakugou that held Midoriya's hand in the opening. We're upset because once more Uraraka is just being used to fuel that role that it seems she's being forced into, which she doesn't deserve. She doesn't deserve to be a girl who only seemed to have Deku on her mind. A lot of her actions aren't even influenced by him and it sucks that others don't get that. On top of that, Iida, who a lot of us love, myself included, hated seeing his big moment taken away like that.

That's what it's more about. When that chapter came out that the opening is alluding to, no BkDk shipper I saw get upset. Why?

Because Iida is another good friend of Midoriya’s, he's also a great character on his own and it was nice seeing him getting the spotlight in that moment. It's like with Kirishima, BkDks like Kirishima because he is also a great character. He just happens to be a friend of Bakugou's. Do BkDks hate that? No!

Also BkDks and Bakugou fans aren't asking for anti Bakugous to "forgive" Bakugou. No one cares how they feel about Bakugou.

At most, what is being asked is not being so annoying about it and leave that space alone that does like his character. They're constantly the same ones sending threats, purposely tagging their anti posts wrong, commenting under fics, reblogging posts, etc. Like hate Bakugou, that's your preference and no one is forcing for a change of heart.

But how in the fuck (excuse my language) are antis going to throw the "Bakugou is a bully" card (mind you, who at the end of the day is a fictional teenager) yet do trolling and bullying REAL PEOPLE?

And!

The anime actually CAN'T be inaccurate as possible because all it's doing is ruining what Horikoshi and his team has worked on in the manga. It's why it's highly encouraged to read the manga.

I'm not surprised an IzuOcha shipper said that because guess what the anime is doing? Making IzuOcha seem more important when there's other things they should be highlighting like Iida's importance. If anyone is easy to read it's some of them.

BkDk shippers love BkDk, yeah, but most I have seen are always excited for the other characters, analyzing scenes about other characters and themes, hell, some are even multishippers so they do like other Bakugou and Midoriya ships.

Honestly, BkDks and Bakugou fans are probably the sets of people that seem to actually care about the story as a whole the most.

Ashido got a scene cut? A BkDk shipper will point it out. Shigaraki didn't say that in the manga and it's out of character? Oh, look that Bakugou fan caught it! Uraraka being reduced to nothing more than a girl with a crush despite having other great qualities that should be highlighted on? BkDks and Bakugou fans are ENRAGED.

Overall, to summarize this (it is long and I apologize for that, I ramble) BkDks in general don't care that it should have been Bakugou who held Midoriya's hand, I know I don't. We care about Iida's and Bakugou's significance to one of the darkest times in Midoriya's life. We care that Uraraka is also treated with care as she should be. If the opening wanted to have an IzuOcha moment, they could have! Just why make it the moment that should have gone to the characters that was important in that vital moment? They've been doing original scenes and whatnot forever, why stop now? Why take something away from other characters that are just as important as the protagonist and main girl character?

Otherwise, this blog is where I reblog stuff (sometimes with commentary), talk about my favorite fluff ships & series info, post the rare fics I complete, and sometimes even talk about life!

My main fandoms are Pokémon (most common), Undertale/Deltarune, Ace Attorney, Fire Emblem, and Splatoon (mostly for Pearlina content), but occasionally I'll talk about other series that interest me. Under the cut for post-shortening's sake.

Most of my ramblings are pretty much just character headcanons/interactions, but at times i like to focus on world-building/larger theories, and I'd love to connect with other people with those interests in my fandoms (especially Pokémon SWSH and SV!!)

Hop (Pokémon SW/SH): I could rant about this boy for days and still not have said enough about how much I love him as a rival and character. He is the best thing to come of out SW/SH. And besides, we love Wooloo enjoyers.

Nemona (Pokémon S/V): She has so much passion and energy for battling!!! She genuinely just wants to connect with someone even though she's so misunderstood!!! Also, she can't handle exercise. I feel you, girl.

Hanamaru Kunikida (Love Live! Sunshine!!): I'm not much of a Love Live fan anymore, but I still love Hanamaru so so much. She is sunshine and light and sweetness and a bookworm and she gets so much joy out of enjoying food and spending time with her friends. A comfort character of mine.

Noelle Holiday (Deltarune): She's such a nervous little dork who's actually just a freak (affectionate), and honestly that is peak young lesbian representation.

Kris Dreemurr, Ralsei, Susie (Deltarune): Please ask me to rant about them individually. I love all of their writing.

Pearl Houzuki (Splatoon): I live for her gremlin energy. Yes, even the eating mayo straight from the bottle. I also admire the fact she managed to pull Marina.

Marina Ida (Splatoon): They really did make the coolest, prettiest hacker girl who loves anime and manga and said "make her fall in love with the scrungliest little squid".

Ashe Ubert (FE3H): He's just a little guy!!! A little fella!!! Love his voice acting, his love for books, cooking, and honor, and his tragic backstory. Poor boy.

Ibuki Mioda (SDR2): Is Danganronpa a great series. No. Did Danganronpa give us the most beautifully chaotic lesbian I have ever seen and then cruelly rip her from my hands far too soon. Yes.

Trucy Wright (Ace Attorney): Please, Capcom, please remember she exists, I am begging you. Yes she's another "teenage assistant putting on a brave face so she can help solve the mysteries". But I love her magic tricks and her interactions with Phoenix and Apollo, so here she is.

Personal ships!

Mostly in the "I like the dynamics" sense, rather than the "I think these two would be perfectly well-adjusted together" sense. Ships with minors in them are purely fluff.

Hop/Gloria/Marnie (Pokémon SW/SH): Hop/Gloria is my main focus, just because I think their high energy (in my headcanons, anyways) play off of each other really well. I also like Gloria/Marnie for sunshine/serious. I also like Hop/Victor. I think about the Sw/Sh characters a lot.

Nemona/Juliana (Pokémon S/V): After 君と雨上がりを and Biri-Biri, they're canon. But also, you can't just ask someone to be your best rival like that!!!

Pearlina (Splatoon): They were literally built for each other. They are perfect. I will pull out a thesis on the Octo Expansion and Splatfest dialogue. Do not make me do that.

Caspashe (FE3H): Three words. Gay cat dads. (I also like Casphardt.)

Edeleth (FE3H): Yes, I'm basic. Speaking of basic:

Wrightworth/Narumitsu (AA): Like I said. Basic.

First off, thank you <333

I made it a while ago cuz it's hard finding Tomodachi Game artwork or fan content (or at least for me lmao) so I decided to make one myself

I feel like Yuuichi would frustrate Light a lot, and that would be seriously an interesting interaction to see! For Yuuichi and him I feel like it would be like 2 cats fighting each other for their pride and fun, rather than L playing a cat to chase the mouse, Light (ik it's more complicated but that's it simplified). And also, I haven't finished the manga yet so I might be wrong, but Yuuichi has the ability to make general "friends" or alliances. Hence him taking all of the punishment for Kokorogi, and forming a bond with Tenji. It's not really friendship, but it's more than Light using and treating people like Takeda as his subjects

Again, haven't read the manga completely so I'm probably wrong. Just Yuuichi doesn't have a god complex while Light does. I think that played a huge part in Kira's demise. But idk who would actually win because of course they both have their flaws

I feel you, finding tomodachi game content is really hard without the anime on the air (i wouldn't know tho i entered the fandom like three weeks ago but you get what i mean jsjdj) so we keep the tag alive with asks.

But yeah totally!! They would be like two cats fighting for the best spot in the livingroom with the first rays of sun.

While Light is a great manipulator, Yuuichi is great at reading people...to manipulate them, so any attempt on lights side i feel would go like

Light: i'm going to use him against my enemies without him knowing

Yuuichi: lmao this guy wants to use me against his enemies. I'll play his game and see if he's of any use to me.

I just want to see how yuuichi gets on lights nerves with all the faces he has in his arsenal (insert cat meme). And you're so right, while Light uses people and never gets any further than that, yuuichi worries about his friends (his thoughts at the end of the second game is all i need), but he doesnt trust them anymore poor thing

On the other hand light could just go: damn it! He's using me. He thought i wouldn't notice? Haha loser now try to guess your heart condition in the next 40 seconds.

And so far (in the manga) yuuichi hasn't shown any sing of having a god complex, and its unlikely, hes very grounded in how he sees himself jsjdjd he really says yes im poor yes im a monster but those things are unrelated...kind of.

Sorry for the lengthy ask.

That incomprehensible half English half Spanish Hinata (dumbass) fan post... that first picture they put.. are NaruHina fans that delusional??? Are they okay? Or has them consuming all Hinata fillers (the only time there's NaruHina content besides the shitty canon moment Kishi gave them (Neji's death/Naruto's "big hands" 🤮)) for years and years made them delusional? I'm not even saying this as the Anti-Hinata fan that I am. I fucking detest her but I can put that aside and be objective.

Idgaf about the Boruto anime, the anime is a fucking mess and chock full of fillers. In Boruto canon (manga) she's in the same background character position that she was in in the Naruto manga. She actually shows up less I think than she did in the Nauto manga.

How can any NaruHina/Hinata fans say Naruto ALWAYS tries to make time for Hinata/the kids??? He's literally depicted as missing birthday celebrations, sending clones home, overworking himself even when he doesn't need to and sleeping regularly on the couch away from Hinata.

He loves Hinata's cooking??? Uh... when was that stated? Him just eating her food (which I can't even remember the manga showing) doesn't equate to loving it. And all I can recall now is how Boruto gave him the lunch Hinata made that Naruto forgot and he immediately started thinking about Sasuke and Sakura feeding him instead.

Talks to Boruto about their first date. Can't remember if that's canon. But it's nothing to celebrate if it is. That's so mundane.

Flirts at Hinata frequently (gotta add in a "frequently" and keep subliminally trying to make Hinata out as a gorgeous goddess that Naruto/anyone in Naruto or the real world would kill for a chance to be with). Buys gifts for her. When do either of these things happen??? Is this even in the Boruto fillers? I'm almost certain that they aren't (NaruHina is so fucking boring in the anime). This is just NaruHina headcanons that they've deluded themselves into believing as canon huh?

"Hinata is canonically the most beautiful woman/kunochi to ever exist in Naruto. No that's not our personal preference, it's a fact and fuck you if you have a differing opinion. (Fuck Kishimoto then I guess since he confirmed that Hinata is plain/average looking). Naruto could never ignore here ethereal beauty. He was probably hard every time he saw her. They have a crazy sex life, ah! He can't keep his hands off her." - That's what they sound like. I never knew fans could get like this. Hinata/NaruHina fans (including SP) are so unpleasant and tiring.

Okay, I can't really reply to a single thing to this because

1) I read none of the images the troll uploaded (seriously, I just noticed the different languages and reblogged it with my comment). So I don't know what their argument was, but I would never consider an image of a rant about how great Hinata apparently is as solid proof of a single thing.

2) I'm pretty sure what they replied had nothing to do with what I was talking about, since trolls usually have pretty limited responses that tackle certain issues to defend their fav, and they are smart enough not to mention the slavery part since they're in the loosing end.

3) I haven't watched nor read Boruto and I swear to god I will NEVER subject myself to that, I particularly like me a lot to purposefully torture my neurons.

4) I wasn't even that anti until her stans came for me and made me look further into her character, characterization and clan's background.

5) Stan Neji Hyuga.

Ahh, I know it's a bit late, but can i rant to you about the lesson 44?? It really was such a great lesson and i just can't stop thinking about it (plus, i really love your thoughts and theories, so if you want to, i'd love to hear more of them!! 😍) (also sorry if there's any mistakes, it's 2am here where i live lol)

- the whole start when MC meets Asmo first made me kinda emotional??? Like, maybe it was also the soundtrack's fault, but i found it so bittersweet that his special power as the angel was to see the good in people and when he became a demon, it turned into charming others to find out their deepest desire. Idk, just seeing all of the brothers and how they were same as now and different at the same time was so amazing

- while i'm not sure if it's the first time, but Mammon has def called out MC for spacing out and also for not looking where they're going. One of those cases was when they where on their date at the carnival and MC bumbed into him, so Mammon thinking that he's a morrosexual is just so funny lmao

- also, what i found fascinating, is that one of Barbatos home screen messages is that Lucifer was actually the one who introduced Levi to anime. Which makes Levi getting into anime all the more complex, bc now we now that not only Lucifer had a part in it, but also MC, and ahhhhh i just love that so much

- since the '???' voice is def Michael, I wonder how long has he been watching over MC. For example, was Simeon sent as an exchange student bc of MC? Or was it all a big coincidence that the one human who interfered with the Celestial realm and he needed to supervise just so happened to be the exchange student? It also makes me wonder if Simeon was not only demoted bc he might've helped the brothers, but also bc of his "easy-going" personality, which also seemed to be looked down on by other seraphims. Idk, it just seems like since they were so strict with everything, that it would be weird if one of the seraphim's didn't fit their standarts of what an angel should be.

Anyways, i would really love to hear more of your thoughts and theories on this! Everytime om gets a new lesson one of the things i can't for are your thoughts and rants about them, they really make my day (and also make me realize that i miss so much stuff while reading the lessons myself lmao) 😊!

first off: I AM SO SORRY!!!! THIS IS SUCH A LOVELY ASK AND NJKSNDIOJWINEJ FUCK I HATE THAT I MISSED IT FOR SO LONG I REALLY HOPE YOU SEE THIS REPY OHMIGOD. Due to reasons (life being a fucking mess) I haven’t been on tumblr since Feb and I really do hate that I missed this. I love long asks where I can just ramble back at ya and I really hope you see this

- The whole lesson was amazing and I’m always up for someone to rant to me! I posted all my summaries and theories of the lessons form 45 and up on @still-a-morosexual-help and reblogged them to this account as well. They’re all pretty long but full of theories if you wanna see.

- Yes! Yes! This! there’s something so bittersweet about seeing them as angels! Like I 100% believe that they fit better in the Devildom and that they are probably happier there as well but that doesn’t dismiss their lives in the Celestial Realm. They probably still have such good memories of it and just the whole thing gives me so many feelings

- Right! He does bring it up in the carnival and in S1 when they go to steal the grimoire to piss off Lucifer enough that he’ll stop brooding in his room Mammon yells at MC for spacing out too. I think there are similar incidents in some Devilgrams & events too, plus he semi-regularly calls MC “Dummy”. MC & Mammon both looked at each other and said “what a fucking idiot I love ‘em” and I think that’s beautiful.

- What I think happened is that when MC brings anime up it doesn’t exist yet and then they go back to their own time and everyone forgets they were even there though the effects of their visit linger, so Levi forgets what happens but MC telling him to check out anime & manga falls into his subconscious. And then they fall and Levi’s self esteem drops even more and then eventually anime and manga are created and Lucifer in a bid to get Levi interested in something since he’s the only one of the brothers without a hobby/hyperfocus tells him about the newest human thing: anime/manga or even gives him the first few chapters of a manga series. Lucifer doesn’t think anything will come out of it, considering Levi didn’t latch on to any of the other things Lucifer tried to introduce him to (like music, books, cars, fashion) but Lucifer giving him this kickstarts Levi’s subconsciousness and the part of MC telling him about it and he gives it an honest chance and actually gets hooked on it.

- Ooooh I never thought of how MC would have affected the angels by their visit. It could be totally possible that after their visit Michael wanted someone to keep an eye on them and he sent Simeon once the chance became available. At the end of S2 he did mention that he’s kept some tabs on MC right? I have a very vague memory of it. About the easy going thing - from what’s being mentioned I always thought Michael had a very childish personality? Like yeah he’s strict and has a very strict idea of what angels should be like but it’s all under the sweetest and friendliest of personalities. Technically an angelic parallel to Diavolo while Raphael was an angelic parallel to current Lucifer. And I’d like to think that no matter what their personality was like as long as they did their job well and acted like a good angel Simeon would have kept his position. Also Simeon’s also being shown to be scary and strict when he gets serious/pissed off (like during the play in S2 and when he was trying to get MC & Mammon to help out at the Angel’s Halo in S3) But at the same time Lucifer later mentions that Simeon was the only relatively normal one from the Seraphim so it makes sense once his closest friend had fled the other two would have been able to outvote him

- I’m really sorry I didn’t upload my summaries and theories for the other lessons during the last few months but like I said before yesterday I uploaded all my detailed summaries and theories till Lesson 54, and the rest I’ll upload in a couple days. I really hope you see this so that we could talk about them.

Feminism in Fairy Tail with Lucy Heartfilia

Okay so @gaysquaredwrites made this fantastic post today about how people say Lucy is useless because she’s not as great a fighter as the other characters, but that doesn’t mean she’s useless because she brings light and happiness into the characters lives and that’s just as important as fighting! And I originally wrote this rant as a reblog to their original post but it ended up being LONG AF and I didn’t want to hijack their post like that so I decided to just post this feminism and Lucy rant as my own post.

So something that I see a lot in most fiction and not just shounen manga but also in Western sci-fi/action fiction as well, is that the female characters in those stories who aren’t primarily fighters, or do fight but not as well as other characters are often criticized for being useless because they “always need to be saved” or “can’t win a fight on their own” and while this does happen to a lot of female characters in these genres, it doesn’t make them “useless” characters to the story. These people just don’t seem to realize that there are other important roles for characters in these genres aside from fighting and beating bad guys, and that’s emotional support.

You don’t have to fight in order to change/save someone’s life. Emotional support is just as essential as physical in both fictional stories and in real life and I feel like people seem to forget that a lot.

Especially since that emotional support often comes from female characters which people are already frothing at the mouth to discredit and undermine so it’s no surprise that people complain that they’re useless because they can’t fight as well as the male mc (which is stupid especially in shounen manga because in those stories no one fights as well as the main male mc, that’s kind of a trademark of the genre tbh) and claim that that take is “feminist” while completely ignoring the important role that those female characters play in uniting the other characters for a certain cause and giving them the courage to keep fighting and fighting with them even if they aren’t the strongest fighter in the story.

But those parts of their stories are usually downplayed or ignored in favor of the “she’s just a love interest” argument, which is actually a more complex and important role to a story than people seem to realize. But I won’t get into that here because that’s a different argument and that would involve getting into her relationship with Natsu and I want to keep this meta purely about Lucy and how people try to paint her as a “useless character” because of sexism. Now if you’re judging characters importance to the story of Fairy Tail based on how many fights they’ve won/lost, then you’re only focusing on one aspect of the story which is the action, and completely ignoring the emotional/narrative parts of the story that make us fall in love with these characters and root for them during the action.

For example, the guild wouldn’t even exist if not for Lucy! After Makarov disbanded it after Tartaros, Lucy was the only one who kept tabs on the guild members in order to reach out to all of them to get the guild back together once Natsu and Happy came back to her. And they even said it multiple times in the manga that they wouldn’t have come back together without her. So yeah the guild would not have come back together to defeat Alvarez without Lucy.

And, everyone seems to forget that during the Tartaros arc, she literally saved everyone’s freaking lives by sacrificing Aquarius’s key to summon the Celestial Spirit King and free everyone from the fortress they were trapped in. Everyone would still be trapped in that thing and Tartaros would not have been defeated if she didn’t make that sacrifice. And it was a huge sacrifice! Lucy’s spirits mean everything to her! Sacrificing Aquarius to save everyone in Fairy Tail left her freaking heartbroken!

And that wasn’t the only sacrifice that she’s made in the series either! Her freaking future self sacrificed her life when Rogue tried to kill Lucy in order to save her life.

Now you could argue that other major characters in the series have made large sacrifices too, such as Juvia saving Gray, and Makarov using Fairy Law at the cost of his life and maybe others too that I’m forgetting. But those sacrifices while important to the story and the importance of those characters, are made up for by both Makarov and Juvia being brought back to life later with Juvia sustaining a scar, and Makarov being in a wheelchair which yes, is a big deal and should not be overlooked. But the point I’m making is that both he, and Juvia intended to sacrifice their lives, but ended up living anyway. Like Gray and the multiple times he’s attempted to use iced shell but always ends up getting interrupted or talked out of it.

So Lucy is the only main character who has intended to sacrifice something important, and followed through with it without getting revived later (although it was only her future self that died, but the point is she still died without getting revived later on in the story) and without getting the sacrificed item back. Yeah, people seem to forget that Lucy sacrificed Aquarius’s key, and Lucy still does not have that key back. So even if you think that future Lucy dying isn’t a heavy sacrifice because that was just a version of Lucy, the Aquarius sacrifice is definitely a heavy one because that one didn’t get resolved later. Lucy sacrificed that key, and did not get it back immediately after or at the end of the arc, or even at the end of the story! Yes the key is out there in the world somewhere but she still has to find it and that’s probably not gonna happen for awhile and it’s gonna be really difficult to get it back! Lucy sacrificed something precious to her for the sake of her guild that she loves so much and she never got it back at the end of the main story. And that’s why I think that sacrifice in particular is probably the biggest one in the story.

But that sacrifice is often overlooked by fans who claim she has no purpose in the story, because that wasn’t a “fighting” sacrifice like giving their life for another character. That was an emotional sacrifice because she sacrificed her ability to not only use Aquarius’s key, but have her in her life as a close friend by sacrificing her key. No life was lost by Aquarius’s key being shattered, but it shattered Lucy’s hearts and ours in turn.

It was a big emotional sacrifice, and that’s why it’s downplayed because emotional components of a story like Fairy Tail which are what Lucy plays a big role in, are often played by female characters, because being “emotional” is a traditionally feminine role in most stories.

In fact, putting a higher importance on traditionally masculine roles for characters like fighting, and downplaying the more feminine roles like emotional support, makes it pretty obvious what those so-called “fans” are really saying when they say Lucy is “useless”.

More often than not, people who claim Lucy is useless do so because they compare her fighting ability to Erza, who is a very skilled warrior and has many important achievements in the battles she’s been in. And because of this, they claim that Erza is a stronger female character than Lucy in the story.

But just because Erza is a female character that is a good fighter, doesn’t mean she’s a stronger female character than Lucy. Both Lucy and Erza are equally strong female characters in their respective roles in the story. But people, mainly misogynists, don’t look at it that way and just lump them into the category of “female character” which guess what, is sexist because you’re only categorizing those characters by their genders and not the distinct and equally important roles they play in the story.

Having Erza be one of the most powerful wizards in the guild as a great fighter is a huge win for female representation in shounen manga because she plays a role that is typically reserved for male characters. But that doesn’t mean that Lucy, who plays the role of emotional support which is typically reserved for female characters any less important. The idea that all female characters need to be less “emotional” or “feminine” and need to play more traditionally masculine roles like Erza does in order to be considered good female representation, completely misses the point.

So while I do want to see more female characters in roles typically reserved for male characters like Erza. I also want to see the female characters who are in traditionally feminine roles for the genre like Lucy get treated with more respect and be recognized for their importance to the story and not get labeled as “useless” because they didn’t win a boss fight.

Because if you think that characters, both male and female who serve the more traditionally masculine roles like fighting are more important to the story than the characters, both male and female who serve the traditionally feminine role of emotional support, then guess what! That’s misogyny too!

If Fairy Tail was purely just a story about people punching each other, then we would not be as invested in the story or these characters as we are. Lucy is the one who makes important emotional sacrifices, and is the one who reminds the guild what they’re fighting for, and gives them hope and happiness when they need it most.

So if you think Lucy’s useless because she doesn’t fight as much or as well as the other characters in the story, then just admit you’re a misogynist because if you have that opinion then you clearly didn’t take the time to pay attention to the story as a whole, and were too blinded by your sexist views to see how important to the story Lucy’s role as the heart, aka the emotional support of Fairy Tail actually is. In fact, the story wouldn’t have even started without her since she’s the first character we meet.

Emotional support in a story like Fairy Tail is just as important as the fighting. The story would have ended after Tartoros without Lucy. Lucy is the one who not only saved all of their lives but brought their guild back together. Fairy Tail would not exist without Lucy. That’s how Lucy primarily saves the day in this story, not by punching people with magic, but with her heart that is filled with love for her friends that fuels her actions, just like Natsu, Gray, Erza and literally everyone else in the guild. She’s no different from them in terms of her importance to the story, her role is just a little different from theirs.

Why Diabolik Lovers is more effective not being an H-game

I haven’t really seen anybody talk about this topic, so I’m just gonna rant about it I guess! If anyone has anything to add upon this, I’d love to hear whatever you have to say! (feel free to either just reblog your comments, dm me or just drop something in my inbox!)

So, before I begin, I’m just gonna assume people reading this have either played the game, seen lets plays, or just know a general premise of what the games include. I’m more familiar with Laito’s routes (although now that I find more translations of other routes I will play the routes I have yet to play), so that’s what I’ll be referencing for specific examples.

So, Large Rant under the cut!

First of all, if you didn’t know what an H-game is, it really means “hentai game.” Most H-games that I have seen are either mods (H-DOOM; oh god) or DLCs. Nekopara and Hunipop (I believe) both are not R18 initially, but you can get the R18 DLC or uncensored versions with some extra mola. These are the games that I can think from the top of my head. I know there are H-games that also are otome games; aka similar to Dialover’s demographic. So it’s not the gendered demographic that makes an H-game, it’s either the age (18+) or interest in sexual content.

The Dialovers demographic is a bit wonky though. Technically the first game is 15+ (which I don’t know HOW; shit’s fucked up in that game) and the rest of the games (VC and LP aside) are all 17+ last time I checked. Dialovers doesn’t have any explicit sex scenes in there, as we all know, and when stuff like that happens, it’s implied. The people of the Dialovers demographic would theoretically be 17+ who like dark and twisted stories/“romances.” Sure there’s a good handful of people who are younger than that, and hell, I started Dialovers when I was a freshman in high school (which I should not have been that young but we’re here now af;dljkf).

Anyways, considering the demographic would be a more mature audience, there wouldn’t be much of a difference if R18 scenes were added to Dialovers.... or would there be?

Diabolik Lovers is more than just a fanservice game. Not saying that its not, but that’s not its entire purpose. Otome games have fanservice, I’m not denying that. But it’s also a game that also tells a story; like most video games do anyway. The lore of Dialovers runs deep, and man is it DEEP when you do your digging. In Laito’s case, MAN,,,,, is his character complex. If Rejet just wanted to make a simple R18 otome game with dark undertones, they could’ve made it a lot less complex than it is already. I really treat Dialovers as a mystery, and a dark “romance” (obviously). I like how the “good” endings aren’t always “good,” and the means to reach the “good” endings are by pretty dark means.

So, what difference does it make to make it an H-game? It would make all the difference.

Some people I know like Dialovers for just the mysteriousness and complexity of the game, and not just for the sadomasochism etc etc. Most fans seem to be a mix of both, from what I’ve observed. If R18 content was added, it would be more fanservice based than narrative and character based. I’d say that Dialovers is a great mix of fanservice and deep narrative. There’s always that joke with ecchi anime with “yeah I only watch it for the plot,” given that most ecchi (and complete fanservice based games) just have a basic, simple plot and character development.

We only have one canon R18 content in this series, and thats the Blood & LoveSweat, but that’s not nearly as graphic as other R18 drama cds. Even that cd has heavy implications. It just leaves it up to your imagination. I personally think that’s not only a good narrative tool, but a great game tactic too. Since everyone’s internal experience is different when it comes to the games (and cds etc), it adds to the mysteriousness aura of the game in general. For example, we never knew what kind of torture device Laito was holding in his early chapters of his Dark route (I think it was Dark 02?) until his manga came out (and now we know,,,, it’s something called an ‘oral pear’. Yikes.).

Adding R18 CGs would make Dialovers more about the fanservice and less about the characters and their development and story. That’s why I believe it’s better to leave those scenes up to the imagination (also not to mention most implied sex scenes in the games are uh,,,, nonconsensual, so that also might be a yikes to put in a canon CG? I’m not sure if there’s other games that have that or not. If so, feel free to correct me). These types of scenes would direct the focus of the narrative and beautifully paced and pretty rewarding character development (my man Laito has come a long way!). The closest to an R18 CG we’ve seen has been the end of Laito’s More Blood route, with him and Yui having consensual sex (yay!), but it’s just kind of the events afterwards. But that’s actually important to Laito’s exposition and development throughout More Blood.

PSA... and slight rant

To: Ask Anons

I’ve been on Tumblr for a few years, I joined around 2016-ish, and I’ve never really made personal posts. I use this blog as a fun place to post stuff I like. I understand many people aren’t into what I’m into and that’s fine, but I do this for the 3 people who like it lol.

I never expected to get many followers and I definitely didn’t expect to find actual friends from my random fangirling over seiyuu, sharing parts of my otome collection, translating and making vids. Actually I never expected to do any of those things either! I didn’t even know how to do most of it when I first joined!

I love maintaining this blog, and I truly enjoy everything I’ve done here so far. The amount of time I’ve spent in planning/scheduling posts, translating, editing and timing subs, the amount of money I’ve spent on media to translate..... you all wouldn’t believe. All while working full time and 3 yrs of university (with a study abroad) full time! It’s been crazy!

I’m happy that I can contribute to a small but growing community of people who enjoy my hobbies, but may not understand because of a language barrier. I make sure not to add any type of watermark to content I don’t own (things like manga strips, pics, etc) even tho I’ve translated them. I always provide links to the original material so that posters and artists get the respect, follows, likes and recognition they deserve. Check the hyperlinks. I purchase all cds and vids that I’ve translated and subbed, so far.

Even tho I’m a small blog, I’ve had my gifs used without notice, my vids re-uploaded without asking and my vids and translations used to make gifs, all of which come from Blu-rays I’ve purchased with my own money. I won’t complain, that’s the nature of uploading content on the internet (once it’s uploaded, it’s hard to control where it goes). I just want to make this clear:

I’m angry about Deku...

Jeez, I haven’t ranted like this in a while. Don’t read if you haven’t read the manga. Major spoilers ahead.

Yes, manga readers. I’m talking about the thing.

Okay, but no, seriously.

I’m going to talking about one of the biggest twists to happen in the series thus far. If you haven’t been reading the manga and don’t want to be spoiled for the fifth season, leave now and come back after the season airs. Chances are, you’ll be able to tell exactly what this was about when it happens and, more likely than not, I might reblog and edit this when it’s safe to read for anime viewers.

I’m so glad that I decided not to actively join the MHA fandom. Just before I got caught up with the series, I saw some of the garbage coming out of the MHA fandom and I’m glad that I ignored fandom in following the series. I’m glad I don’t have to deal with some of the insanity I’ve seen from this fandom.

It feels as all the toxic people from the other big shonen series that ended went to the MHA fandom and proceeded to go beyond, plus ultra in their toxicity and stupidity. A lot of the posts I’ve made and have to make have been direct responses to some of the points I’ve been pissed off entirely, like Hagakure and Mineta.

Seeing people run around and say “MHA is ruined because Deku has 6 new quirks!“ unironically is one of these posts. I know people who have quit this series over this and I’m annoyed by this. I’m tired of people saying that this came out of nowhere or makes no sense All Might or Shimura didn’t get the other arcs before.

I originally planned to talk through why this has been set up for a while. We’ve known that One For All is in and of itself a combination of quirks. One of which is the ability to pass quirks onto other people and the other is stockpiling power. All Might describes this as a mutation. As for why now, three arcs before this happened, the idea of quirks becoming more powerful as generations pass was brought up. This arc started with dreams about the previous users of One For All and .

But, I decided against that because I know it doesn’t matter to the vast majority of people complaining.

To them, it doesn’t matter that this makes sense or that Horikoshi has been setting this up for a while. What’s really annoying these guys is that this happened at all. With this, the nature of the story changed. We already know that Deku is going to be the best hero ever but not like this. What happened to our underdog story of the weakest one becoming the strongest hero of all time?

That discounts something massively important about that is: DEKU STILL HAS TO MASTER ALL OF THEM FIRST!

That sounds like an obvious thing to say, but it’s not as simple a matter as so many people seem to make it to be. He’s spent the majority of the series trying to master ONE quirk and he’s only fairly recently to the point he can use as if it’s his own ability and not have to worry about destroying his body in the process. Lest you forget that Deku’s still only about ONE YEAR into having One For All. And he’s only able to use it at less than HALF of its full ability.

Mind you, that perspective is gross understatement of Midoriya’s hard work up to this point. He’s had to prepare his body to contain One For All, learn to use it without breaking his bones as he uses it, and develop his own personal style of use with it with only slightly useful advice to help him figure out his next moves. That he’s able to use it to the level he is is amazing.

Of course, this isn’t just a matter of him having a great quirk. He’s been studying heroes and their techniques for years. I described him as All Might’s biggest fan earlier in the week. However, he’s been a big fan of the pro hero scene. He’s even keeping notes on other students inside and outside of UA. About the only thing that was holding Deku from becoming a great hero at the start of the series was not having a quirk.

Note: a quirk. If Kirishima is able to make it as a decent student with a fairly simple quirk like hardening, and Hagakure’s able to get in to UA’s hero course at all with her quirk, I’m not convinced he could make any quirk he got work for him. And consider that his hereditary options were breathing fire, telekinesis, or some combination of the two.

How can I put this?

You know, Dragon Ball? Only one of the biggest manga/anime series ever?

If you’ve followed Goku’s adventures, chances are you got into the series through Dragon Ball Z or Z Kai. (Or DBZ Abridged, RIP) After only a few of episodes of the show, we learn one thing that’s known near universally about Goku. He’s a Saiyan who came from Earth. Rather than come to destroy it, he’s become one of its greatest defenders on multiple occasions.

However, before we got Dragon Ball Z, we had Dragon Ball. You had to go through years worth of material thinking Goku was just a weird human with a tail only to find out that he was a part of an alien race of warriors bent on killing populations. He was basically destined to become a great fighter...

Is what you’d say if you ignored everything else about Goku. In the actual series opening, he was trained under one of the best martial artists in the world. As the series progresses he learns to train by getting used to more and more weight being put on his body and fighting stronger and stronger opponents.

He was always a step ahead of the people who were around him. He started with adding weights as he trained and worked. When people got to that level, he started to train with weighted clothes. It wasn’t as if the only thing going for him was his lineage. He proved he was plenty strong on his own.

I guess what I’m trying to say is...

If you hate this turn of events, you’re wack and weren’t paying attention.

I'd say I'm not that much into shipping. It is also hard to choose from so many fandoms I enjoy so I'll just write about the first three that came to my mind. In general I prefer to stick to the canon, but sometimes I like to make exemptions as in case of one of my otp's - Shallura from Voltron Legendary Defender. I fell in love with this ship even before watching the actual show, bc my friend had shown some fanarts to me, just the characters in general etc so not the ship kind, and although I must admit I didn't like Shiro's hairstyle design at first, I liked how Allura and him were almost always portrayed as the older sibling/parenting duo and they had overall nice designs, and thus I started watching the show. (Nowadays I hate the canon, but mostly for reasons unrelated to shipping, but I still enjoy shallura content as it reminds me of the great times when the show was actually sparking joy.). The next one that comes to my mind DickBabs from DC comics thanks to @cesiamargit, as she showed me all the wholeseome comic book content. I still have a lot to read as I've only read a few comics, but I really like them together. The last one is Royai from Fullmetal Alchemist : Brotherhood. This ship is so beautiful, whether they are canon or not. Brilliant, talented, amazing or however this quote went, I love this ship, and I love this anime with all my heart. (coming from a person who doesn't like anime and manga at all). 1000/10.

Lipstick or chapstick : I had to google what a chapstick is, because despite being familiar with a lot of vocab, I kind of had never seen this word before (I really need to learn some make up vocab). I like both tho, although I use lipstick mostly for special ocasions like parties or theatrical performances.

Last book : It could've been "Ladies of the Polish empire" by Kamil Janicki, a history book about royal women who helped to make Poland a great kingdom in the later medieval era (c.XIV century) and thus set the basis for the later golden age. I've only read a dozen pages but I enoyed it, and I can't wait to learn more about those badass women. I could've also looked up some stuff in J.R.R.Tolkien's "Silmarillion", as I often need to check stuff in order to try to make at least one accurate au for my oc's (I once bought myself a second Silmarillion, because I've lent the first one to my friend, but as it turned out I couldn't live without checking stuff in it so I bought myself another one but with different cover. 100% worth it).

Last song : Could've been "Chiquitita" by ABBA

Last movie : not sure, because I don't watch a lot of movies recently, but it could have been the first "Night at the Museum". As an adult I've watched it only once before, and to my great and pleasant surprise it still sparks a lot of joy and I also love the other two movies.

Well, I choose yume for this and the above two images represent their relationship pretty well. They are my favourite illustrations and one can actually see the love they both have for each other. It’s like no one else matters. You can actually see the tenderness in their eyes, how much they care for each other.

4. Describe your favorite ship in seven words or less.

InuKag : they were born for each other.

Sei and Shimako : sensitive couple. Adorable and sweet.

Sakura and Syaoran : love that transcends time and space.

Touya and Yukito : meant to be together in every world.

Seishirou and Subaru : they are meant to fall for each other.

Kamui and fuuma : just admit you love each other.

Akihiko and Misaki : meant to be together.

Nowaki and Hiroki : sometimes second love is true love.

Yona and Hak : always there for each other.

Kaname and Yuuki : eternal lovers.

6.What’s your go-to episode or scene when you need ship feels?

Well, this one is difficult because there are tons of scenes which I love but I’ll do my best.

Inuyasha and Kagome :

When Naraku reveals who he is for the first time in ep 21. Any episode with Koga, that really shows inuyasha’s jealousy. The movies…god. First and second movie. All scenes I guess.

Sei and Shimako :

Season two episode 6. Though there are scenes in many episodes of season 1 too.

Sakura and Syaoran :

When Yuuko gives them new bodies and real syaoran is born. In the beginning when sakura is planning to tell she loves him but in the end couldn’t. When syaoran fights kamui. When Syaoran is killed by his son and his greatest regret is that he couldn’t hear those words. I guess I should stop. At this rate I am going to end up with an essay.

Touya and Yukito/Yue :

When touya gives his power to yue. I ship yue and touya and yukito and touya. The last scene in original cardcaptor sakura manga where they are together in the kitchen. When touya corners yukito in school, he knows something is up.

Seishirou and Subaru :

Of course the scene in which seishirou dies. Goddammit. I can’ t think about it. Subaru loses his senses [ in Tokyo Babylon] when seishirou’s eye is gouged out. This is getting too painful for me. I’ll stop.

This pairing reduces me to tears. They belong together. They should’ve been together with hokuto and kakyou.

Kamui and Fuuma :

Little fuuma helping little kamui in one of the extras. Well, just read X. The whole thing is unresolved sexual tension between the two. The creators said it themselves they are soulmates, I mean even in TRC one can see there is something going on between them. Subaru and seishirou is blatantly obvious.

Misaki and Akihiko :

When haruhiko kidnaps misaki, when akihiko comes to pick up misaki from his brother’s house, the train scene. There are many scenes especially the ones with Ijuiin Kyou.

Nowaki and Hiroki :

Again, there are many scenes. The library scene. Goddammit. It reduces me to tears every time. When hiroki spies on nowaki, then sends him flowers. Aww. Just remembering them brings a stupid smile to my face.

Yona and Hak :

Episode 24 of the anime, in manga when that festival happened in one of the villages and yona danced in the village garb. There are many scenes throughout the manga.

Kaname and Yuuki :

Well, volume 11 and 12 scenes. Then the scenes after yuuki sees kaname’s past, end of volume 13 and beginning of volume 14, all the scenes in which yuuki says she needs to go to her kaname. When yuuki takes kaname’s blood after being awakened. There are many scenes.

7.What song or songs remind you of your favorite fandom, character or ship?

Hmm, as such no song in particular.

I did read a fanfiction though which had, “I am watching you” for seishirou and Subaru and I couldn’t help but find it hilarious.

And I think, A Thousand Years by Christina Perri suits yume. It’s true after all.

8. If the creators of your favorite fandom asked you to write the ship canon-confirmation episode, what will you write/how will it happen?

Hmm. Well, I hope yuuki gets reincarnated somehow and she and kaname live a long happy life together. Maybe kaname is going somewhere and he bumps into a girl, who has long brown hair and when they look at each other he realizes it’s the girl from his memories. And that’s it. After that kaname never sees the butterfly familiar because yuuki is with him now.

X is never gonna end but I always had a feeling that both fuuma and kamui would die. Because fuuma said that only kamui can grant his wish. They both die.

Then they are shown together in another alternate universe.

I always thought fuuma and kamui suffered equally. You cannot weigh their suffering. Fuuma lost everything because kamui made one choice. Their story is too tragic.

I’ll come back to this question later.

9.Do you prefer to indulge in (consume or create) fanart or fanfic of your favorite ship?

Sometimes I sketch and I create edits for my favourite series. And I enjoy seeing fanarts and manga colourings. I write fanfictions too. I love reading fanfictions.

10.Smut or fluff? (VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION xD)

Both. Both. I love both.

11.What ship are you embarrassed to admit you like?

Not one. They are all great ships. Nothing to be embarrassed about.

12.What task are you most likely to procrastinate so you can indulge in your ship or fandom?

I sacrifice my sleep sometimes. That’s about it.

13.How many hours of the day do you spend reading fanfic or looking at fanart or other media?

When there is nothing to do, quite a lot of hours. But when exams are there, I see how the preparation is. But I usually spend quite a lot of time on it.

14.How many memorabilia’s do you own of your favorite fandom or ship (clothes, plushies, etc.)?

Well, I’ve got lots of volumes of each series and artbooks too. And I’ve also got drama CD’s of some series and magazines.

15.If you could own one authentic item from your favorite fandom world, what would it be?

Hmm. Not anything in particular.

16.What fandom have you found to be too toxic to deal with?

Ah. The best question. Well, I haven’t been in inuyasha fandom but I know it’s pretty weird because for some bullshit reason kagome is shipped with sesshoumaru and inuyasha is portrayed as a person who violates her. Yikes.

Now, I have got nothing against shipping characters who aren’t together. I do that a lot but when the same people come onto inuyasha/kagome and sesshoumaru/kikyo fanarts and spout shit, well I get angry then. Because I adore sesshoumaru and kikyo. It doesn’t happen but I still like it and it has the most gorgeous fanarts ever.

If sesskag and rinsess, which is weird no matter how it’s cut, shippers come and say this would’ve been better if it was sesshkag fanart / fiction, well I get angry then. Sesshoumaru is my favourite character ever and I really don’t like seeing people think he only belongs with sesskag shippers. What the hell?

He is no one’s property. The only character he remotely showed something for was Kagura. And I am not gonna open Sesshoumaru and Rin thing. That is....well. Let’s just leave it.

Clamp fandom. I dunno…I am not particularly in it but I read some comments on some sites and it’s pretty annoying when some people say you must acknowledge kotori and kamui thing.

Sorry, there was no thing.

Kotori was obsessed with kamui. Did she deserve to die. Hell no. But kotori and kamui just doesn’t exist. I mean the creators themselves said : don’t call kamui and fuuma brothers. No. They are soulmates. Fuuma is all what kamui thinks about. Even in colour illustrations which shows the group, Kotori is always seen glomping kamui like some weird obsessed fangirl. It’s disconcerting. Kamui is always shocked or surprised. Well, whatever kamui and fuuma belong together.

And now the most toxic fandom. Vampire knight. I stopped posting in the tags quite a while back because I am just tired. I’ve had enough.

Zeki shippers : unable to accept yuuki loved kaname way more than she loved zero. It’s blatantly obvious if you read the manga. But the shippers are not only rude but they also get personal and insult the blogger. They mock the other shippers and keep on ranting and raving about abuse and whatever nonsense that was prevalent in the forums between 2010-2014. Now the same thing happens here on tumblr.

Zeki shippers are unable to accept that not everyone worships zero’s character. Honestly, I never hated zero. I was always like, I want kaname and yuuki together, zero can be with someone else. But his fans and shippers are just nasty. I’ve never encountered a single decent member of this ship. They are rude and insulting and love to send anon messages.

Nope. Not fond of tattoos.

19.What is the strangest thing you’ve done to honor your favorite fandom, ship or character?

Nothing.

I know this blog has nothing to do with D.Gray-Man but I love Tyki to death and i’m gonna rant about how poorly a lot of the fandom seems to represent him so by all means ignore this

You can like/reply/message me about this if you want but i’d appreciate it if no one reblogged this because i’m probably gonna delete it later

I’ve loved D.Gray-Man for years and i just recently read the manga and got back into it. I don’t normally get too involved with fandoms mainly because of the way they treat certain characters but I do like to read fanfics and go through tags for some great graphics and such and i’ve seen some nasty things about Tyki

Before I get into it i just want to make it clear that I’m by no means justifying Tyki or the Noah families action because they aren’t good people, they kill and have done some really bad shit but they aren’t entirely bad either

Tyki honestly has such a horrible representation and characterization within the fandom and it’s a damn shame because he’s actually a really great and interesting character

I’ve seen people act like he’s some kind of rapist and has no feelings what’s so ever and like ??? did we even read the same series or ?

Yeah okay he’s a villain and can be very dark and sadistic like the other Noah but uhhh the Order has done some really horrible shit as well and a lot of the exorcists aren’t so pure either

Tyki can be a bad guy, that much is clear but this is the same man that also pretend to be a hobo even though his family is rich af, eats fish straight out of the damn pond, hangs out with his human friends, one of which is a young sickly boy who absolutely adores Tyki. Tyki even brings him buttons for his collection. Not to mention Tyki is just confused for 90% of the series

How can you look at the Noahs acting like a real family and being dorks and be like “they’re pure evil” I mean we’ve seen what a baby Wisely can be. Just his and Tyki’s interactions in general are enough to show that other side of them. We’ve even seen the Earl, this person who is suppose to be evil and bring about humanities destruction, knit and help Road with her homework. We also know that the evil and cruel Earl we know isn’t all there is to him

Bottom line is the Noah family aren’t good people but they aren’t completely bad either

I think a lot of people just have really bad representations of antagonists and morally grey characters in general and default them to being these super awful characters when that isn’t always the whole truth (obviously there are a lot of exceptions to that and some characters are just straight up shitty)

D.Gray-Man is a series that isn’t black and white. It shows you how grey the world and people really are

I’m going through my blog, looking for a particular post that I want to link to in my meta (I have almost 1k pages of Klance content on my blog, so this is an interesting journey) and I’m seeing all of the posts I reblogged when I joined the fandom in Nov 2017.

And I’m just sitting here wondering... where did that fun go? Why did we let season 7 destroy our confidence in canon!Klance (especially since season 7 actually gave us almost as much Klance content as season 3)? Why did we let season 7 suck the joy of Klance from us so much that a bunch of people have left the fandom and even the Klible’s author has take the Klible down?

What happened to us?

Seriously guys, at the end of the day, this is a cartoon show. It doesn’t matter how good or bad it is. Since when has that stopped a fandom from enjoying what they have?

Warriors is... not a good book series. HarperCollins has way too much say in what happens, the character arcs are horribly-planned (provided they’re even planned -- poor Hollyleaf), and the writers really could have benefitted from making a damn family tree when the first book was written because this series is riddled with SO. MUCH. INCEST.

Us Warriors fans? We know it’s crap. We know it’s not that great and that there are better series out there. Most of our favorite ships? Not canon, even when there’s evidence. The closest we got to a canon gay ship was Ravenpaw and Barley (Tallstar and Jake may also count), but they couldn’t be canon because the publishers wouldn’t let it. Those two ships were not main characters -- Ravenpaw and Barley were background characters that only got focused on in a short manga and a short novella spanning like 5-10 chapters max. Tallstar and Jake got like 1/3 of a book. So while there was subtext, there was so very little of it because these characters were not the focus and barely got any screentime. Ivypool and Blossomfall had a lot of relationship focus in the 6-book Omen of the Stars arc -- ffs they got trapped in a cave together where Blossomfall revealed to Ivypool her hidden insecurities! What happened with their romantic endgames? They both ended up in straight relationships and have kids. They could have just ended up not having mates for the rest of the series (plenty of characters never take mates), but instead the authors/publishers decided to stick them both into het ships.

How did we, as fans, react? Didn’t care, we have fanon. Nobody was discouraged, nobody dropped the series as a result. We continued making metas, AUs, fanart, fics (including fix-it fics), and MAPs. Why should we care about canon when fanon makes us happier? Brings us closer together as fans?

Why can’t the Voltron fandom be the same? Why did it have to become so damn pessimistic and negative? I get the problems with the series, I GET IT. I wasn’t happy about the Adam thing either, as LGBT+ rep is one of the main reasons why I want to be a cartoonist. I. GET. IT.

But so many series do the same thing and get so much less flak for it that it boggles my mind why people are focusing so much energy on hating Voltron in particular.

I used to be like that, specifically with Xion from Kingdom Hearts. I concentrated on the negatives rather than the positives and it brought people down. At the time, I figured, “Hey, if you can show your love for something, I can show my hate for it.” It took a while, but I eventually realized how horrible this logic is. Hate only breeds more hate. It only brings people down. It only makes the fandom a horrible place to be in, only turns it into a hatedom that nobody wants to be apart of.

I enjoyed the time I spent at the Xion Hate Club, but I realized most of my enjoyment came from the positives. When we focused on venting and ranting about Xion’s character, I realized it brought my whole mood down. When we just chatted about other, happier stuff or made Xion jokes, it was fun. When we let the negatives take hold, it made me anxious and upset.

That’s not what a fandom should be. We shouldn’t be getting this anxious and upset over something fictional. If we hate it, then we aren’t really in the fandom. And instead of being negative and pessimistic about it, we should just let it motivate us to make something better.

Don’t let the negatives breed more negativity. Let it bring positivity into peoples lives. Life is too short to ignore what makes us happy and focus on what upsets us. Don’t waste your life filled with hate and anger because of a cartoon show. please. your life is worth so much more than that and you deserve so much better. Yes, rant and vent when it gets too much, but the point of ranting and venting is to get the emotions out and then let them go.

I just...

When I joined the fandom, it was a light of my life. It was nice being apart of something so optimistic and happy. I want it to be like that again. I want everyone to be happy and optimistic again. I want us to be able to focus on the positives again, and lean on fan content when canon disappoints us.

I want us to be better. We deserve better than what we’re giving ourselves. It isn’t worth working ourselves up over something that will probably be forgotten within a decade or two anyway.

This will pass, so let’s stop sweating the small stuff and just enjoy being fans again.

Y’all there are 3365 fandoms in the Yuletide noms and some of them are really good so I thought I’d just make a promo post here and also rant a little bc I’m excited even tho it’s barely October just looking at this list.

So I’m gonna put the rest of this barely coherent ranting under a read more but like guys, I’m excited.

So here goes. Some fandom recs!

Books

The Alpennia Trilogy by Heather Rose Jones

Mistress/bodyguard ship in the first book, which leads to so many possibilities! Loyalty kink! Power imbalance! All that shit!

Amazing worldbuilding and magic mixed in with religion

I’ve only read the first book but I’m totally gonna request it

Best for femslash fic tbh, but I guess you could do gen.

The Shades of Magic series by V.E. Schwab

Again the worldbuilding is good. But the series is overall very dark. Also, an ensemble kind of feel.

My ship is two powerful magicians who seem to be the last of their kind, both working for royal families, one of whom lives as a prince and the other of whom is enslaved.

They’re enemies most of the time but still.

But a lot of people ship other things bc ensemble cast. There is one canon m/m ship. There is a slightly OP female crossdressing thief. There’s angsty brothers. There’s lots of people basically.

Good fandom for m/m, f/m, gen, even poly. Very good fandom for dark fic or whump imo.

Peter Darling by Austin Chant

Trans Peter Pan who used to be Wendy Darling

Ship is Peter Pan/Captain Hook

Writing style is gorgeous

Captures the cruel, childlike side of Peter Pan.

Good fandom for slash mostly, but I imagine you could pull off gen too.

Nero Wolfe series by Rex Stout

Detectives in New York in some vaguely historical time period.

Narrator is Archie Goodwin, very snarky and charming, one of my favorite characters of all time.

All the mysteries are fun but you’re mostly here for the dynamics between Archie, Nero Wolfe himself, and all the other regular members in the series--the detectives sometimes brought in to help out, the house cook, the pissed-off policemen, etc etc.

Also totally fine to read out of order, I’ve never really paid much attention to the order myself. Includes both novels and novellas.

A lot of people write slash in this fandom; I don’t really ship any slash ships for it (I’m kind of a gen bitch here) but I admit the potential is there.

Queen’s Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner

Technically YA fantasy but I’d say it’s not that firmly YA except for the first book.

Land of twists and intrigue with the occasional questing adventure. Pseudo-Greek setting.

Includes one of my favorite f/m ships for which I long for more dark fic.

Surprisingly active fandom, I am nowhere near caught up on the fanfic for the last book published.

Good fandom for het, slash, occasionally poly, and very good for GEN (sorry, the MC’s name is Gen and I couldn’t resist).

Goblin Market by Christina Rosetti

Idk why there’s a fandom nomination for a poem but I guess I’ll go with it, it’s a good poem.

Very ripe for femslash tho technically the MCs are sisters (but do they read like sisters? No, no they do not) so you might have to go AU for it.

Kind of dark and weird but childlike at the same time.

Movies/TV Shows/Anime/Literally Anything But Books

Kakegurui (anime/manga)

I’ve only watched the anime but I hear the manga is good.

Crazy high school obsessed with gambling gets even crazier when Yumeko the gambling freak shows up just to start drama.

Weirdly dark even tho nothing life threatening really happens. Ridiculously grotesque facial expressions on absolutely everyone.

Very good for femslash, decent for het and poly. You could probably write gen. But how.

Kado: The Right Answer (anime)

It’s sci-fi show that’s half about contact with aliens and half about the unhealthy relationship between an alien and his favorite human. And when I say half I mean “gets really dark in the last third”. But if you’re mostly interested in that part, it’s short enough that you still get there pretty quick.

I really just want dark slash fic, that’s all guys.

Two Faces of January (movie)

This is also a book by Patricia Highsmith but I nominated the movie bc it has Oscar Isaac and Viggo Mortensen.

Dark thriller vibes

Slashy vibes with weird daddy kink overtones (it can’t be helped, and this remains constant whether it’s book or movie)

Somehow I still ship it despite not really liking daddy kink.

Gattaca

If you don’t already know about Gattaca are you even following me

It has Jude Law in it

Also it explores dystopian ableism and yet has an oddly ableist ending which consistently PISSES ME OFF, which is why I always request fix-it fic.

People really like slash for this movie and I get it but I don’t really ship it but a lot of people do so if you watch it, you will probably ship it too.

Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell

British miniseries which I somehow like despite not liking most BBC shows. (Seriously, my roommate and sister have both tried to get me into Sherlock and Dr. Who and I just can’t, good for y’all who like such things tho.)

I’m mostly here for the fae aspects and one of the MCs being traumatized and descending into insanity.

But the aesthetic is also pretty rad.

Harlots

It’s about harlots. Kind of Victorian? I think? Idk time periods guys.

It portrays sex and sex workers in interesting, pretty down to earth ways.

It’s a good place for femslash but I somehow find myself craving gen.

The aesthetic is strong.

Luke Cage

I’ve still only seen the first season but it was rad

Fandoms I’m Not Actually In But Might Join If The Prompts Look Good

There’s a couple different books nommed by Mary Renault! I’m reading the Alexander Trilogy right now (Alexander the fuckign Great, guys), which is nommed, so if things work out I might write for that. There’s also The Last of the Wine and Mask of Apollo.

Also, there are two series nominated that are by K.J. Charles. I’ve only ever read The Henchmen of Zenda by K.J. Charles but that was really good, so I may have to try one of these series out. Of course, I’d have to actually have time, and series are a bit lengthy for me this semester! But I might read a book or two if the prompts look excellent.

Someone nominated Learning Curves by Ceillie Simkiss? Which is an indie lesfic romance novella which was published only this August. I’m shocked it somehow ended up in the tagset and very curious about prompts. But I haven’t actually read this book, I’ve just heard of it.

The Caper Court series by Caro Fraser sounds interesting, too. It’s about a guy trying to become a lawyer who needs to fulfill a pupillage first, whatever the fuck that is, but apparently there’s gay people and intrigue, so I’m interested. I’ve started the first book.

Also, Zorro by Isabel Allende is nominated. I’ve never read this book but I’ve always wanted to because I love Zorro--the old TV show was one of my favorites as a kid. But I’ve never read a literary take on it.

If I can watch the Kdrama for Orange Marmalade, I’m interested in that too. I’ve only ever read the webmanga, didn’t know it was a live action now. It’s got vampires :) and high school drama.

So this rant was kind of unnecessary, but I just have a lot of feelings, guys, okay? Just...a lot of feelings...
