#not in that situation it wouldn’t be a huge conflict or anything but it just… I feel like it would be pointed out and the other two would be

It would have been so cool for the concept to be explored of like… ok you got Willex and Juke right? We would have seen those two ships be developed more if they were given the chance to *ahem*.
With Juke, realistically, there’s the whole one alive one dead ya know if you’re getting technical with it. It would have been interesting to see play out where they show Julie age while Luke remains the same age. Like that’s the thing that’s not going to escape them, that’s the thing that makes them remember the reality of their situation.
But with Willex, they don’t have that. They both benefit from being ghosts in that sense.
I’m not saying Jatp would have turned into a soap opera but I could just see where some minor conflict would be happening because of this. I just feel like Luke could show some envious feelings towards Alex. How him and his other half get to be happy and in love technically forever bc ghost psychics. Yet, there’s probably going to be a certain point where him and Julie can be that with each other.
Or like maybe it even gets brought up when like there’s suspicion of like “Nick” and how Caleb is like silent recently put how it can’t be that easy and it gets puts together “Oh man 👀 he got desperate he possessed the Nick guy” and Luke is the real adamant one as to how to fix it and wanting to take action and he wants to keep it on the down low and not tell Julie even though the other two are like “why shouldn’t we tell her tf?” And Luke just is so adamant and keeps shutting them down and he just lets out “She’s already dealt with so much, I want our time with her to be the best it can. Caleb’s a ghost, we’re ghosts this is our business. We can’t worry her with this type of stuff. I want her to think of us and have the best memories.” He’s like saying we and us but like substitute those for an I and you get what he subconsciously means.
Julie and Luke aren’t like blinded by love, they know what they are. They know the reality of their interesting little relationship. Luke saying “That would mean more loss in her life” about not telling Julie right away about Caleb and the jolts and that they have to cross over to stop it makes me thinks he would also put off telling her about Caleb possessing Nick. For as much time as they’re able to spend time together, he would want her to have the best it could be considering their added uniqueness to it. Which includes putting off telling Julie semi-important… well really important information.

random papa headcanons
i genuinely don’t know where this came from haha. they range from zodiac signs to hobbies to mental health so sorry for the inconsistency lol. please enjoy <3
Tumblr media
⋅───⊱༺ 𐕣 ༻⊰───⋅
primo
- primo is one of the most kind and caring people to exist in the world. he’s very intelligent as well- he has a mind suited for many jobs. sometimes he wonders what he would’ve done if he didn’t follow in his father’s footsteps.
- he’s a great writer in all regards- poetry, essays, speeches, all of it. he did exceptionally in school and was very humble.
-primo is great at conflict resolution. he’s direct and efficient but considerate of people’s feelings as well.
-generally pretty healthy mentally but has struggled with depression periodically throughout his life.
-i don’t think primo ever planned to be a father, he didn’t even think it was possible considering his responsibilities. but as he got older and reflected upon his life he regrets that he never had children.
- we all know about primo’s legendary garden, but his next project he’s dreaming of is an orphanage in the clergy. or just to overall encourage more inclusion of children :,) (when appropriate ofc haha)
- a hopeless romantic deep down.
-virgo/libra.
secondo
-secondo is a great artist. he likes painting landscapes and scenery. hes also really good at drawing buildings/ architecture. when he was younger he thought maybe he’d be an architect. some of his paintings are hanging around the clergy but nobody knows they’re his.
- good at math but doesn’t enjoy it persay.
- reads a lot of classic novels (and romance books lol) if he’s reading something trashy in public he’ll switch the cover so he isn’t judged and can maintain his reputation ☠️
-i think he’s struggled with depression throughout his life that’s beyond situational. even when he was at his peak, something chemically in his brain just wouldn’t let him fully soak it in.
-extroverted but very distant simultaneously. has a hard time getting vulnerable with people.
-smokes a lot of weed. i think all the papas do tbh
-huge music connoisseur (prestigious metalhead) (will say “name 5 songs” if he sees you wearing a band shirt)
-biiiiiiig leo/capricorn energy.
terzo
- terzo has adhd for sure lmao. he was never diagnosed though.
- he was the walking stereotype for ADHD as a kid: a rambunctious and high-energy boy who struggled in class.
-terzo is very intelligent, though. he just never cared about school too much. he was good at talking his way out of trouble.
-terzo is incredible sensitive to rejection. so much so that he would have a very very hard time confessing his romantic feelings towards someone. (feelings that move beyond sexual attraction)
- his hypersexuality, though he genuinely just loves sex, is often a subconscious quest for dopamine and validation.
- he has a very kind heart, goes out of his way to make people laugh if he sees they’re struggling.
- loooooooooooves to watch reality tv or anything full of drama.
-either a scorpio or a gemini.
-very active online. he’s a little obsessed with reading fan forums and posts. but he also just loves the internet in general
-i think he was the most interactive with fans, he would respond to fan mail most frequently. when he got horny mail from someone he would often respond with equally something equally risqué ☠️but of course when the subject matter was serious or heartfelt he would respond genuinely.
copia
- copia drew comics when he was younger and still does. over time they’ve evolved from mystical stories to simple doodles to get him through the day.
- sometimes he’s a little forgetful and mixes up his papers, so when he confidently hands his mother a comic strip she’s featured in, it’s a little awkward.
- copia loves animals, and he always has. he was afraid of dogs (specifically bigger ones) when he was younger, though. he also likes birds and can identify most species. (so can primo!)
- copia had a little bit of ocd throughout his childhood that’s lessened up over time.
-he also has generalized anxiety that’s lessened after he’s become papa which is shocking
- he has inattentive adhd. he’s an exceptional worker despite his negative symptoms because he pushes himself so hard to succeed. but sometimes he gets a little burnt out and forgets to rest, or spirals into an unmotivated state.
-we all know he’s a huge dork, so to elaborate upon that: he likes star wars, star trek, dc, and comics of all sorts.
-he has a funko pop collection in his office (including one of himself LOL)
-i think he’s a gemini and i’m so passionate about this. that or a pisces.
⋅───⊱༺ 𐕣 ༻⊰───⋅
thanks for reading yall :,)) i have more stuff coming up i promise i’m just not able to work as frequently due to school!! i hope you enjoyed.

Tbh I'm with Zoro re:Nika v Luffy. Luffy is full of love for the world and adventure, almost as much as he loves his friends. Nika willingly staying separate from the world Luffy adores so much is a HUGE red flag that It's No Longer Luffy In The Driver's Seat. They're probably very, very similar, but would it be enough for the Straw Hats? I imagine it would be for some of them, but besides King of Hell over there I think Jimbei and maybe Brook would notice the difference and care.
I’m assuming this is for the madoka magica au. (My beloved)
And you’re completely right.
Luffy under normal circumstances would never leave the crew. He loves them and the world and adventure, why would he ever leave? He doesn’t remember the situation that lead to him fully becoming Nika in the first place so he doesn’t understand Nika’s incessant calling to leave this world behind.
As for the rest of the crew….
When Zoro fully became Asura and rewrote the universe, he also took the crew’s memories of the world without Luffy.
They have no clue the current reality is different. There are moments where awareness slips in. Where they go “something here isn’t right?” But they are all together and happy so it’s not that big of a deal. The moments are easy enough to sweep under the rug.
I think if any of the crew did remember the reality without Luffy they would agree with Zoro’s decision. They don’t know that Nika had made a plain of existence just for them. That they would reunite with Nika after death. For them Luffy was gone and he was eternally alone. They would agree with Zoro’s decision because of the information they had.
Jimbei and Brook probably have more “this isn’t right” moments than the others because they have been around longer. Their age and experience tipping them off more. Robin probably realizes it as well but I wouldn’t put it past her to put all the pieces together and agree with Zoro’s actions. The crew was willing to fight the world government for her, she to would rip apart reality for her captain.
No the problem is Ace
Ace who remembers it all. Zoro tries to block it out but Ace was in Nika’s divine realm. He was privy to information the Strawhats didn’t have. He knew that they would all be together for eternity. And Zoro separating Luffy from Nika could have major consequences.
Ace pulls Zoro a side to tell him this. But it’s Ace and Zoro and they aren’t the best at communicating.
And Ace is also so conflicted because on the one hand Zoro not only divided Luffy’s soul but he also took Luffy’s freedom. It’s a beautiful cage but a gilded cage is still a cage. It was Luffy’s choice to merge with Nika. Zoro is disregarding Luffy’s choice and freedom.
But at the same time how can he be mad. He has both of his brothers back and they are all free, as far as the other two know. Because Luffy has no clue he’s in a cage. He’s completely free to do whatever he wants in this plain of existence. Is it truly freedom if he can’t leave? But is he truly trapped if he doesn’t know about the cage?
Ace’s head hurts. Philosophy was never his thing and he desperately wishes Sabo, Deuce, or Marco were in his place because while Sabo is here he doesn’t remember the old reality either.
So Ace confronts Zoro about it. About how this is going against Luffy’s will. About how this could have consequences they don’t even understand yet.
And Zoro just smirks at him and asks if it’s not a demons job to go against their god?
Ace is immediately on the defensive wanting to know if Zoro will completely disregard Luffy’s wants and decisions from here on out.
Zoro responds with “of course not. He is my captain and I his first mate.” He would do anything Luffy asked him for. But Luffy would never ask him to release him. How could he when Zoro stand between Luffy and anything that could ever make him want to leave again.
Ace threatens to tell Luffy the truth. To which Zoro tells him if he does then that would make them enemies. But he’s not to worried because he knows Ace is having trouble remembering things. He might have failed to fully block Ace’s memories in the first place but the more time Ace spends in this world the more natural it will be. After all this is a new chance for Ace to be human. To be with his brothers. He wouldn’t want to mess that up, would he?
Ace knows all these things. Can feel the memories of before getting hazier. He knows his brothers are happy here and there is no reality where he would try to take their happiness from them. But Luffy’s freedom was taken from him and that he can’t forgive “even if I forget everything else I will always remember that you, Roronoa Zoro, are a demon.”
Zoro just smiles at him and starts to walk back to the others. As he passes Ace he pauses and leaves the freckled man with one final thought. “We should pretend to be on good terms. If you’re always attacking me, Luffy could end up hating you.”
It’s an empty threat, Zoro knows. Knows that Luffy could never hate Ace. But seeing the two of them fighting nonstop would upset Luffy. Zoro has no desire to fight Ace, as long as he stays in line. And he knows exactly what will keep Ace in line.
Because Ace is having a full meltdown down. Could Luffy hate him? He’s in the right! Zoro took Luffy’s freedom. Zoro cut Luffy’s soul in half. Is it wrong for Ace to want to restore Luffy’s soul? To bring back the divine plain? But Luffy loves his crew and adventure. Is his brother better off in this world where he can go on adventures forever with his loved ones. Where he’s not the only one responsible for the safety of the world? Would Luffy hate him for breaking this reality? For fighting with Zoro?
Could Ace survive without Luffy’s love?
It’s a moot point. Luffy will always love Ace. But Ace’s self hate has never been able to understand that.
Here’s the original scene from Madoka Magica for reference
Note. They are both right in their own way. They have different points of view and information the other doesn’t.
Zoro wants Luffy to be with the crew because Luffy hates being alone more than anything. And the crew loves him. Zoro loves him
Ace has knowledge of Nika’s true plan. Knows that Luffy wasn’t going to be alone forever. It would just take time. But he’s horrible at sharing this information.
Ace going to the literal devil who just rewrote the universe to have his way and standing in front of him like “you I have a problem with you and I’m going to fight you.” Like poor boy has a split devil fruit (now shared with Sabo) that’s not even awakened and is staring down the King of hell with no plan or back up. Keep bitting off more then you can chew Ace. Never change.

Wait why do you think Ron and Hermione wouldn’t need therapy? I think they are great together but obviously there are some issues that a little therapy would benefit (especially post war).
thank you very much for the ask, anon - prompted by this post on romione - and i’m sorry if the following statement reads as condescending. it is a bit, but that’s because a lot of ‘go to therapy’ posting annoys me…
ron and hermione won’t need therapy because therapy is not a certificate you get which gives you permission to be a happy adult - and nor is it a certificate you require.
therapy is necessary when you are experiencing something which is detrimental to your wellbeing and will continue to be so unless you receive help. it is not necessary just because you're not a flawless person, or because you experience a temporary negative setback that you feel otherwise equipped to handle.
couple’s therapy is not compulsory to be in a happy relationship - and, indeed, if you don’t want couple’s therapy, that will be a good sign about you and your partner infinitely more often than it will be a bad one.
to be clear from the off, i am not opposed to therapy - it is necessary and lifesaving for a huge number of people - but what i am opposed to is the way that therapy is presented as a curative for anything even remotely imperfect about a person, the way that not wanting to go to therapy is presented - especially for men - as a red flag, and the way that terms which have a genuine value in therapeutic settings are stripped of their context and used to analyse every single facet of human relationships by people on the internet who have no clinical expertise in what they’re talking about.
and something which particularly applies to the discourse surrounding ron and hermione is a pervasive idea that any sort of interpersonal conflict - and, indeed, the possession of any sort of personality trait which contributes to conflict - is automatically grounds for therapeutic intervention.
but this is untrue. conflict can be unhealthy - as can traits which drive it, such as being prone to jealousy, being stubborn, being argumentative - but it is not inherently so. disagreeing with someone - even arguing with them, even losing your temper and shouting at them - is a perfectly natural part of human interaction. it is the context of this conflict - its frequency, what causes it, whether it is accompanied by physical violence, whether the two people in question are able to deescalate the situation, whether the two people in question are willing to apologise and discuss what happened, and so on - which dictates whether it is a problem which requires professional help.
and i mention this because i suspect that ron and hermione’s near-constant arguing is what you’re referring to when you say they have ‘some issues’. but, as i’ve said in the meta which connects to this post, the two of them evidently regard their communication style as beneficial to them both. hermione is someone who thrives on being debated, and arguing back is clearly the way in which she works through issues (she seems to be someone who prefers to sort through problems aloud, rather than in her head, like harry). this is not a benignly admirable trait - and, indeed, it’s clear that many other characters in the series find hermione condescending, irritating, and tactless - but nor is it one which requires ‘fixing’ - if your ‘negative’ traits work for you, you do not need therapy for them.
and this aspect of hermione’s personality does work for her - not least because ron understands it, doesn’t regard it as upsetting or unhealthy, and uses it to communicate effectively with her both when he agrees with her and when he doesn’t. and, because it’s a healthy part of her personality, she is therefore able to learn techniques to manage her impulse to argue and interrupt of her own accord. and that’s fine. you don’t need a professional’s sign off to prove that you’ve performed self-growth.
which leads me on to the fact that i suspect you may also be thinking of ron’s famous jealous streak when you talk about their ‘issues’. as i’ve stated in the previous meta, i think that fandom really over eggs how big of a role this plays in their relationship. ron is jealous of hermione’s teenage boyfriend, hermione is jealous of his teenage girlfriend, this is because they’re teenagers who are attracted to each other and who are acting up because teenagers are often not fantastic at communicating their feelings to other people. this - once again - can be unhealthy, but it is not automatically so. in many cases, it’s just one of the mortifying agonies of growing up - and having been cringe (and even having been actively unpleasant) as a teenager is not something which you need to self-flagellate for once you’ve grown up enough to move past the things that made you cringe or unpleasant.
which is to say, there is no evidence that romione’s twin jealous streaks will endure into adulthood. it’s just as likely that, by the time they’re twenty-five, ron’s viktor-krum-induced flop era is a family joke which has them in hysterics on the sofa as it is that hermione’s walking on eggshells in case another man even looks at her. in fact, it’s much more likely - ron’s arc by the end of the series, as laid out in the conversation he and harry have when he destroys the locket-horcrux, sees him accept that his jealousy of the attention harry gets is unhealthy and become comfortable with his own achievements. hermione’s arc sees her become less inflexible in her thinking, through her acceptance that the hallows are real. they both grow up and will keep growing. they appear to be aligned on all the things that matter - i loathe the suggestion that they’ll meet a stumbling block when ron demands hermione becomes a stay-at-home wife, given that he is shown throughout the series to constantly encourage her ambition and also to love being domestic himself. they’ll be fine.
finally, on your point about needing therapy specifically after the war - yes, undoubtedly seeing loads of children killed in the school you went to for seven years is horrendous, and the idea that ron and hermione might seek out help for trauma connected to the battle makes perfect sense, in a way that them seeking therapy for their relationship as it's shown in canon doesn’t.
but i think it is worth saying - because i know that for people who don’t find themselves traumatised after life-altering events there is often the question of whether there’s something wrong with you, that you should be more upset etc. - that trauma responses are extremely complex and extremely weird. the things that the mind hangs onto can sometimes make absolutely no sense - and, sometimes, the mind hangs onto nothing at all, but goes along happily with the process of contextualising, understanding, and moving on from what’s happened without professional intervention.
requiring help for trauma is not a failing and you’re not a bad person if it’s what you need - it will save your life. but you’re not a bad person - and your traumatic experiences were no less profound - if you don’t need help, either. it’s just the luck of the draw.
and so ron and hermione - who seem to be in a pretty good place post-battle - might find themselves in a less good one in the weeks and months which follow. or they might keep being in a good place. life’s funny like that.

another david chiem-related train of thought (wow i totally am NOT obsessed with him)
huge incoming tangent warning
as well as major ch2 part 1 spoilers
(take this theory with a grain of salt)
Tumblr media
just wanted to talk about david’s plan in ch2. though it had a bunch of flaws, it was probably better than any of the other options the group had
okay i’m not a david apologist or anything but let me explain my train of thought—
there’s really only a couple of ways you can take action in a situation like that:
do nothing and all of the secrets get revealed. given the fact that a lot of these secrets are specifically written to incite emotion (trauma, anger, etc) it’ll likely stir a hell ton of conflict all at once as people inevitably scramble to identify who’s secret is whose and will probably lead to a worse predicament
someone actually gets murdered before the deadline. true, the secrets won’t be revealed, but they would be trading a human life, which for obvious reasons can’t work out
everyone reveals whose secret they have, and what they are. we can already know from j/arturo and arturo/eden’s situations that having someone else reveal a secret that you’re holding close to your chest will make people react very emotionally—and will just make more conflict
or, like david’s plan, have everyone reveal what they know about their own secrets. in that case, each person would be able to explain the context behind their secret so there’s less likely of a chance they’ll be confronted for it when it eventually gets revealed, and in some cases trauma dumping can actually be good therapy for some people.
however… that’s about where the benefits end for david’s plan. it’s honestly just as risky as the others; for example, some of the cast have secrets that are horrible and seem irredeemable regardless of context. additionally, there’s cases where people retaliate especially if it’s a secret that the person holds very close to their chest / that they’re really sensitive about. we see as much for a lot of scenes in chapter 2.
but the thing is… though it is incredibly risky, it has a slightly higher chance of working compared to the other methods. in a more “better than the alternatives” sort of context.
even if david recognized that he’d essentially be gambling with this plan, and knew he probably wouldn’t get the best outcome possible (in fact i think he was aware it probably wouldn’t work), he likely decided to ignore that and roll with it anyways—besides, a 5% success rate is better than a 2% success rate.
so really, the only place where he would’ve “lied” was the way he promoted his plan. in order to get the ball rolling, he had to present his argument in a way that made the plan sound foolproof—which, given the holes the plan had, wouldn’t work unless he covered up all the possible risks and convinced everyone to blindly have faith in him.
fortunately, with his speaking skills, he could probably pull that off quite well. which leads to what happened in ep4 onwards
also, i don’t think he could’ve intentionally lied about his secret during that moment (although him slightly modifying it is possible—i’ll explain that later). whit likely never reached out to david about his actual secret so he didn’t know for sure what it was.
but the thing is, everyone else’s secret, though written in a way that took out crucial context and painted them in a bad light, was at least somewhat based on an actual occurrence, portion of their identity, and real information.
david’s secret is the most vague and was written in a way to attack his purpose and what he personally (secretly) believes his actions to entail. but, unlike everyone else, there’s no concrete occurrence, action that he’s done, or any specific detail in that secret that connects him to manipulation. additionally, his is the most open-ended. i’m going to assume guessing a secret like that would’ve been very difficult
given david’s behaviors and dialogue as well as some subtle details about his preferences and such, it’s very likely that he has depression and was desperately trying to hide it in order to keep his optimistic image. so for him, it would make more sense for his secret to be something related to depression—which is probably why he said what he said in episode 4.
that being said, i think he did half-lie a little about what he believed to be his true secret in order to preserve his image.
Tumblr media
note how he specifically says “family history of depression.”
this is a really subtle wording detail, but david only claims there was a tendency for depression to run through his family—he never says that he has depression himself.
as a similar example—though this may just be me—if my family has a tendency to develop certain cardiovascular diseases, though it does increase the risk that i may develop the same disease in the future, it doesn’t necessarily mean i have that disease.
david likely used this same philosophy, and by saying that depression “runs in his family,” he’s subtly implying that he doesn’t have depression (though admitting he has a higher risk for it).
and like what i said before, i’m 90% sure he’s actually struggling with depression—but he decides not to admit it here in order to keep his own “optimistic leader” image.
(and don’t get me wrong, i don’t think the family history of depression is a lie—just the way he expressed it was kind of… intriguing for me)
i may be wrong about all of this, especially that last part because that may just be my own overthinking and assumptions influencing me 😅
so as always, feel free to refute literally anything i said and i will listen.
and again, please take this with a grain of salt

Hello it is I, the Floyddle and Azudia headcanon anon!
(at this point I feel like I need an emoji or a nickname to sign off as for anon😂/j)
But I saw your art of Jamil and Kalim when Kalim realizes about his crush too late and he gets married off , and three things.
1, Amazing art as always I gotta give chef kiss and tap those heart buttons every time I see the art on here and Twitter!
2, I need an update on that, will Kalim that he realized he had feelings too late ? 😭 (I live for angst )
3, If you guys ship the two, you know what time it is...
✨headcanon time ✨
After 10000 years I’m finally replying, Anon! Sorry for the long wait.
I’m excited to talk about Kalim/Jamil. I love them very much, and once again, this is one of those ships that I’d draw more if I had more brain capacity, free hands and free time… So to at least talking about them in a post feels great, thank you for your ask!
First of all, thank you so much for liking them and looking at our stuff both here and on twitter! <3 I’m very happy to hear that.
Second of all, well, Kalim is in a difficult situation lol He’s so used to Jamil always being there for him, he wouldn’t really even think that he has a crush on him for the longest time. That’s why, when it’s finally time for him to start a family of his own, and it feels weird and wrong, and he suddenly feels this strong and desperate longing towards Jamil, who isn’t available to him anymore, he’d finally start thinking about it. And then he’d realise that it’s too late, but he can’t do anything about his feelings either, they’re impossible to ignore now. Kalim is torn, conflicted and miserable. And Jamil… Jamil has to deal with it, let’s leave it at this for now.
Sooo headcanons! Oh, and these are about KaliJami in general, not about that comic we’ve talked about before.
Kalim is actually quite possessive of Jamil, but he might never get an opportunity to realise it. But theoretically, if Jamil was to serve someone else, take care of someone else or give more attention to someone else, Kalim would probably feel weirdly upset about it. He really doesn’t know just how much he’s used to Jamil always taking care of him, and how much he doesn’t want to actually share Jamil’s absolute attention with others.
Kalim is the king of unintentional mixed messages: he is so casually flirty that sometimes it’s difficult to figure out if he’s just being his usual charming Kalim self or actually tries to be flirty. Jamil just assumes that it’s never romantic with him, and with others, well, it doesn’t concern him. That’s a huge mistake…
That being said, Jamil would probably realise that Kalim has a crush on him before Kalim himself realises it. But would still try to ignore it for as long as he could. They won’t start dating unless Kalim makes the first move, and even then, Jamil’s first instinct would be to turn him down (and he would actually turn him down). “For Kalim’s own sake”. But Kalim is persistent and is horrible at suppressing his feelings and desires; he’s very spoiled by Jamil, after all.
Once they start dating, Kalim is going to become even more insufferable because he’ll instantly get 10 times more clingy. He is very physical and loving, it’s like he wants to constantly hug and kiss Jamil and rub his face against Jamil’s. Especially at first, during the honeymoon phase (although with Kalim the honeymoon phase never really ends, he wakes up every day and acts amazed and enamored with everything Jamil does).
Because of that, Kailm’d find it super difficult to hide their relationships. He doesn’t even know why they have to hide it, but Jamil insisted on it, so he has to stay quiet. And it’s horrible, because Kalim wants nothing more than to shower Jamil with kisses while chatting with other people, hold his hands, casually touch him and talk about how much he loves him. And to brag around about how wonderful it is to be dating Jamil. Please, Kalim, just shut the fuck up…
Kalim would also be horrible about personal boundaries. Sometimes Jamil would find him in his bed in the morning, because yes, he is that clingy. Also quite capricious and pushy.
Jamil is the one who’d rationalise their relationship by thinking that everything that’s going on is just him obeying to Kalim’s whims once again, and that Kalim would probably get bored eventually and move on. Kalim, on the other hand, doesn’t think too far ahead, he’s too euphoric because of his feelings. Ironically, despite Jamil’s concerns about Kalim’s airheadness and kind of unhealthy nature of their relationships, Kalim’s feelings are pretty serious and much deeper than Jamil realises.
Not only Kalim does embarrassing romantic stuff all the time, he also says a lot of embarrassing romantic stuff all the time. And compliments Jamil’s appearance even more than he used to. Sometimes it feels like he just tries to make Jamil blush and get mad at him, but he really isn’t, he’s just that honest and that in love.
Kalim is obsessed with Jamil’s hair. During the day he tries to control himself and not touch it (Jamil told him not to several times), but during intimate moments he really can’t help himself. He grabs it, strokes it, smells and kisses it. Jamil finds it annoying, but since it’s done when both of them are quite aroused, he’ll complain about it later.
Kalim is the loud one during sex. He’s like… too loud. He’s horrible and holding back, which makes Jamil even more nervous than he already is. It’s a hot mess.
Alright, I think that’s it for now. Thank you for your ask again!

Now that my full blow anxiety has reduced about the comic blog situation I can reveal to people my thoughts on the whole thing.
I’ll be giving out a criticism to all parties. (I’m not going to use names because I’m still scared.)
Also PLEASE TELL ME IF I GET ANYTHING WRONG.
First of all, something in the comic made two people who I am friendly with uncomfortable. I’m not quite sure what it was but I’m sure it was justified.
Then, a blog I follow (1) said that they really dislike the comic. This is fine.
But this is where one of the first follies comes in. One of said friendlys (2) reblogged the message onto their blog used for being a fan of the comic. They must’ve felt very strongly about how they didn’t enjoy the comic any longer, but in doing this, they threw attention onto 1 who expressed that they proceeded to get death threats. Now, I’m pretty sure that 1 doesn’t mind that 2 brought attention on to them (or maybe they do. I don’t read minds).
Now of course, death threats and hate. That’s a huge mistake from the people who sent them. Don’t fucking send death threats. Don’t do that. That’s not okay. Enough said.
Now I’m going to criticize 1 for a moment. One of 1’s reasons for disliking the comic blog is because the blog runner (3) blocked them on their main. Now, 1 often expresses that it’s totally fair to block someone you dislike or disagree with.
1 criticizing 3 for blocking them, kinda using it as a “they were always bad news”, doesn’t quite make any sense. People can block you and not hate you.
A criticism from others that I’ve seen given to 3 is that the use of the pandemic in their plot is insensitive. I can see this being the case. Another one is saying they (3) wouldn’t do fan service as they felt their audience was too young, but still let them slightly (?) sexualize one of the characters.
(Side note: 2 confuses me in this manner because they are the one who brought this concern up, but I felt as if they were doing some of that themselves. Maybe they could clarify this?)
Anyways, 3 then makes a post expressing that a person (presumably 1) who criticized them, that their criticism didn’t feel genuine and more spiteful ands says they were also slightly harrassed (?) by this person. But they vividly express for a second time that sending hate is bad.
Now my role in all of this. I was allowed to make a blog that added to the canon. I communicated with 3 directly. I feel like I’m friendly with them.
Now you see why I’m so panicky and so fucking conflicted.
I respect 1, 2, and 3. And I really just hope this is all an over reaction. Maybe I’m over reacting again myself and this message wasn’t needed. But still the little details don’t line up in my brain which is making me think that everyone is a bit wrong.
Anyways. PLEASE SAY YOUR OWN THOUGHTS SO WE CAN ALL GET A BIGGER PICTURE.

tbh a lot of the ways jack’s infantilization pops up is in discourse around him and dean and their relationship , especially after Mary’s death in game night. because everyone’s relentlessly clinging to the idea of jack as a pwecious widdle baby who can do no wrong, there’s this unanimous refusal to give him any accountability whatsoever for anything he does, particularly with killing mary and hurting dean so severely in the process. instead, everyone decides that dean is the bad guy for reacting to his childhood trauma unfolding again after he’d finally healed from it and got her back.
I mean spn fans fundamentally do not see jack as an autonomous person so it only makes sense that nobody can put him on equal footing in any of his relationship dynamics, but to vilify dean for having a very justified reaction to his fucking mother dying again is just an insane thing to do in the name of woobifying jack. yes, it was entirely accidental and yes, Jack is equally as traumatized by it, but that does not take away from the fact that what he did directly emotionally damaged sam and dean.
not only would a lot of fandom discourse benefit from realizing these are literally not normal functional healthy people dealing with normal situations that give them the liberty to approach said situations in normal functional healthy ways (dean promising to kill jack if he needed to in 13x02, & shooting jack in 13x23), but it would also benefit from realizing that jack is a grown ass invulnerable demigod with the capacity to cause a lot of major damage if he spins out of control, and he bears full responsibility for that damage (which is why it is actually so fucking stupid whej I see ppl say that jack becoming a baby would magically fix their conflict. no it fucking wouldn’t, you just don’t see jack as a full person with direct responsibility in said conflict and you don’t care about their relationship actually being healed mutually).
on the other hand, dean was reacting to a presumed threat almost immediately after losing two of his loved ones in a situation directly related to jack. he has every right to be wary and cautious, and given that he is actively traumatized and already an emotionally dysfunctional person from being abused by John, he isn’t exactly going to outlet his trauma healthily or behave in a way that miraculously breaks the cycle John created. I’m getting tired but lastly, ppl should also realize that jack is a grown ass adult with the emotional maturity to understand and forgive dean for the way he acted before—even while Dean actively struggles to forgive himself and tries to be as good a father as possible to make up for it.
Because again, their situation is not normal and they have no way of treating it or reacting to it normally. as far as jack knows and has seen of his powers, he is dangerous and is able to reach a point where he’s too much of a threat to keep alive. the tragedy of it is that he doesn’t want to be a threat, he doesn’t want people to fear or hate him and he doesn’t want to hurt anyone. that’s why he says “you were right all along” in moriah. between dean and jack, a huge facet in their relationship is the question of whether or not dean is right, and by the time they’ve reached a point of mutually seeing each other as father and son that question is up in the air as something neither of them want. jack never wanted dean to be right, and now that dean knows jack as a person and as his own kid he especially doesn’t want to be right anymore.
just. Please start thinking of Jack as an actual autonomous person. That is literally all it comes down to. It will open up your world

Warnings: mild language, angry hotch, blood, guns, criminal minds stuff.
word count: 3,852.
This is loosely based off of season 5 episode 1 where Hotch is back from a case after being stabbed by the reaper and stuff.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
This was Hotch’s first case back from being stabbed repeatedly by the reaper. You were glad to have him back, but you really wished he would stay home for just one more week. But you know how awful it felt, being forced to stay home, not being allowed to come to work for weeks on end. You know how he felt closed in, like a caged animal. Without the other socializations of work, your world gets so small. So you understood why he was so eager to come back to work. He passed his psych evaluations with flying colors, but as Morgan mentioned; he was the one who made the questions, and knows exactly how to answer the them correctly, without regard if they’re true or not. You know he’d do just about anything to get back to work, but you also knew he was a sucker for staying on protocol, so you were conflicted if he should really be coming back so early or not.
The case you were on now was frustrating. The unsub was rapidly devolving and to add insult to injury, the sheriff was incompetent, and awfully rude. Hotch had gotten snappy. He yelled at garcia when she hadn’t had the chance to get the unsubs full medical history, Rossi when he was trying to talk some since into Aaron, and now you.
You hadn’t done anything wrong, you were just giving him some files; the files he asked you for.
‘Hey, I have the maps you asked me for.”
“Thanks, you can set them on my desk”
You set them on the empty space next him him then hesitated, chewing on you lip in thought before speaking again.
“Hotch?”
“Hmm?”
He looked up from the papers he was holding, but you could tell you didnt have his full attention- hell, you didnt have any of it. He was just..staring at you.
“Are you sure you’re ok?”
“I’m fine. Get back to work.’
He commanded, his voice getting stern again.
“No, Hotch, please, talk to me.”
“As I said, Im prefectly fine. I wouldn’t agree to work a case if I wasn’t fine, would I agent?”
“Yes, I know that, but you’re acting different. You’re-“
“Agent! Im fine. Get back to work, unless you want to be dismissed from the case?”
The authority in his voice was almost jarring. The frown lines on his forehead deepened, and new wrinkles you didnt even know he had formed. He didnt look completely different, but there was still a difference. You noticed one of his hands balling up into a fist; and his other hand tightened its grip on the papers he was holding. All of that left as quickly as it came, his anger when it did, always coming in short bursts; at least in the time you knew him. He looked back at his papers, dismissing you from the room.
‘Fine. Sorry.”
You said mumbled quietly, a sharp pang of sass in your voice. You quickly walked out the door and straight to your desk, feeling a plethora of emotions swelling in your mind; but guilt and sadness being the most prominent, as well as a some anger.
————————-
The next thing you knew, you and the team were pilling into the black SUVs, on the way to an old warehouse where the unsub was with his current victim. Your job was to make sure the victims title changed to survivor. It was a dangerous situation. The unsub was armed, but you wernt sure with what, so everyone had to approach with much more caution than normal.
Once the fleet of black cars had pulled up to the warehouse you sighed.
“The place is huge…how are we going to get him and the victim out safely?”
You asked whoever would answer. Rossi was first to speak.
‘No one enters or leaves without checking in with me or hotch, this isnt going to be easy but we’ll find a way. We always do.”
You nodded, unbuckling your seatbelt and stepping out of the car the moment it came to a halt. The team drew their guns and Emily started talking to the unsub through a large speaker on one of the cars, trying to convince him to come out with his hands up. Of course, he didnt.
Then it all went to hell.
The officer, who so far was known for not listening to damn thing that he was told to do, grabbed the speaker from Emily’s hands and yelled loud and clear;
‘You better come out with your damn hands up or we’ll shoot the place down. You dont have the power, we do. Come out with your hands up”
Now normally saying something like that would be fine, but the unsub has a narcissistic personality disorder and a severe power complex. As hotch had made very clear in the minin briefing before everyone go into the cars, no one was to say or do anything that would threaten his complex or make him feel inferior. And that’s exactly what this officer just did.
Before anyone knew it, there was a gunshot, a scream and silence. Then the sight of Hotch running into the building. Alone.
‘Hotch! Wait! You cant go in there alone!”
Rossi called out to him, but he didnt listen, he kept running Untill he had disappeared into the warehouse and a haunting silence took over the space between the bau and all the officers. Then, another gunshot. And another. And another. A total of 5 gunshots had rung out and you lost it.
‘That’s it. Im done.”
You mumbled before you took off into the warehouse. You ignored the team calling after you as you ran. The response was automatic. You didnt know you were running to wherever hotch was Untill your legs were sore and your lungs burned. You had to find him. You just lost him, and you’d be damned if you lost him again.
The scene that unfolded infront of you was sickening. The victim was the first thing you laid your eyes on. She was completely still. Then you saw the unsub on the ground, covered in bullet wounds and blood. But only 2. There was another on the victim, that made 3, but you herd 5 gunshots. Hotch was nowhere to be found.
Rossi ran in behind you, out of breath from trying to catch up.
“What the hell happened?! Where’s hotch?”
“I-i dont know. Get the paramedics, I dont know if the victims still alive, I haven’t check yet.”
Three more deafening shots rang out.
You were the first to speak. Panic was slowly starting to rise in your voice.
‘Stay with the victim im going after hotch!”
You yelled as you turned around and started running again. A swarm of incohearent thoughts were going through your mind, but the only one you could make since of was the fact that you couldn’t lose hotch again. That you wernt. Your lungs burned and your vision was starting to get fuzzy but you kept running and calling for hotch.
“Hotch?! Hotchner?!”
You screamed as you kept running, trying to find him. You were desperate, and scared. Scared of what you might find when you would find him. Scared if he would be alive or not. Scared of what condition he would be in. Scared of how mad Rossi will be when you get back. Just, scared.
You saw blood again. So, much, blood. You felt sick as you ran around it, following the trail of dark red Untill you found a body. Your whole world went sideways. You stopped dead in your tracks. Everything just stopped. Time came to a hault. You stopped breathing, stopped thinking. The only thing you could hear was your heartbeat thumping wildly against your rib cage in your ear. Scared your heart was going to tear out of your body if it beat any harder.
The body was face fown, blood pooling from the forehead and what looked to be the abdomen.
‘No….no no no no no, no”
You frantically whispered, lowering your gun. You felt as if your legs were about to give out from underneath you. A wave of nausea washing over you. You felt like you were going to vomit, cry and pass out all at the same time.
Than you herd footsteps. You raised your gun on instinct at the footsteps then herd a voice that washed over you like a wave of a million of different emotions you didnt even know a person could feel at once.
“Hey- woah, put the gun down agent. What’s wrong?”
You looked up from the ground. It was Hotch. You were so blinded by the fear that hotch was the one lying dead infront of you, that you didnt even realize it wasnt him. You were blinded by fear.
“What the hell were you thinking?!”
You yelled, your voice bouncing off the walls, causing hotch to take a small step back. Something in you broke. Maybe it was the stress of the whole situation crashing down on you, and the realization all a once. It’s not like you knew.
“Excuse me?”
He retorted, a hint of offense in his voice.
“You herd me, Aaron. What the hell were you thinking?! Running in here by yourself, leaving me to find the victim AND the unsub both lying still in pools of their own blood but not a sign of you-“
‘Y/n calm down you dont have to yell-“
“NO, YOU BE CALM. I WAS SCARED OUT OF MY WITTS END BECAUSE YOU GOT TO FULL OF YOURSELF AND RAN IN ALONE, LEAVING TWO POEPLE POSSIBLY DEAD. THEN LEAVING ME TO FIND A TRAIL OF BLOOD, THEN ANOTHER UNSUB LYING DEAD.”
You were full on yelling at this point. You’ve never yelled at anyone like this before. It just wasnt in your nature. But here you were, in some abandoned warehouse in the middle of nowhere, screaming your mind out to the head of your unit, with a dead body between the two of you.
“ITS NOT MY FAULT THE OFFICER SAID THAT AFTER I MADE IT CLEAR NOT TO. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT YOU TAKE IT UP WITH HIM NOT ME, DO YOU UNDERSTAND?”
He was full on yelling too. You had only seen him yell at someone like this once. And that was an interrogation. He was stiff, rigid. Obviously shaken up from the events that took place just seconds before you were yelling at him. Before you knew it your tears were blurring your vision and you didnt try to stop or hide them. You sniffled and finally wiped your red burning eyes with your sleeve and put your gun back in its holster.
His demeanor softened the moment he realized you were crying. He made you cry. His shoulders dropped and his muscles relaxed, over half of the creases in his face dissapearing when he did so. He also put his gun away and took a step forward to get to you, to comfort you, to tell ou he was fine, and in fact alive and well, to hug you and tell you how much he loved you and how sorry he was. The second he moved twards you your head snapped up and he saw as your eyes scanned over every visible inch of his body. He knew you were making sure he was ok. He too looked down, now aware of the fact that he was covered in blood.
“Are you ok?”
A small voice asked. It was yours. You felt so small, so helpless, so broken and confused. And panicked.
“Im fine- the blood isnt mine.”
When he saw the questioning look in your eyes he continued.
“There was a second unsub, we were wrong about the profile. The first one, the one we were right about had the victim. He shot her the moment i walked in, and was about to shoot me. He missed the shot and i shot him. The second unsub was planning an ambush, hiding behind the corner i-“
“Aaron. Answer my question.”
Your voice was still so small, but assertive. Your throat hurt from yelling and you still felt dizzy, as if you were going to pass out but you were determined to make it though this conversation without passing out on the floor, as much as you wanted to.
“Yes. Im fine. The blood on my vest is the unsubs, not mine. And it’s just a small cut on my cheek. He had a knife. I took him down.’
“Good”
You nodded and started to turn aroun and walk away. To find the others and tell them what happened. To go back to your hotel and pack your things to leave tomorrow, to go cry in your room and regret choosing line of work.
“So you’re just going to scream at me, then walk away with zero explanation?”
“I told you why I’m mad.”
You didnt turn around, but you stopped walking.
“Im a profiler too, y/n there obviously something you’re not telling m-“
You turned around, a new fit of rage welling inside of you. Your voice couldn’t afford to scream again, so you made your voice as steady and stern as you possibly could.
“Because I was scared.-“
You swallowed down a large lump in your throat and felt the tears again, freely falling down your face this time. Your voice had gotten small again. This time it was barley a whisper that came out, but somehow it was crystal clear.
“-and because I love you, god damnit.”
With that you finally turned around again and left. Without turning back. Leaving a shocked Aaron just stranding there, not knowing what to say or do next.
—————————-
The flight home was painful. You were seated across from Aaron and refused to stare at him or interact with him and all. You stared out the window the whole time, or down at the book you wernt really reading, just staring lifeless my at the pages. you couldn’t think. You felt numb. Everything that happened yesterday played through your mind in an endless loop. Even the good news that the victim was in the ER, with a steady heartbeat didn’t help.
Once the team had safley landed in Quantico, you made your way to the bullpen, going straight to your desk and started cramming your personal belnongings into your bag, trying to get out of there before anyone could ask you anything at all about what had happened in the warehouse.
You had caught hotch at the door to exit the building and he stepped infront of you, stopping you dead in your tracks. You recognized him by his shoes and sighed, bracing yourself for whatever hellfire he was going to bring down you. When you looked up and met his eyes you were met with something you’d never seen before. His brown eyes were so soft, so warm, in contrast to the cold, harsh ones you saw every day. You swore you could get lost in them if you stared long enough so you looked away, back down at the floor.
“About what you said earlier,”
His voice was just as soft as his expression was. It was quiet and calm. Comforting and so, so warm.
“I meant what i said.”
You couldn’t bare to talk to him any longer; for fear of completely breaking down. You managed to keep your wits about you on the jet, but now, you were worn down, and so much more for fragile. So you left. You stepped to the side and walked away. Ignoring the word of protest that was followed by a frustrated sigh form Hotch.
You made it out the building and made your way to your car, the cold night air filling your lungs; providing a sense of calm. You got in your car and drove to your apartment and threw your things down, tossing your keys on the table and kicking your shoes off, wiping your eyes. A pitiful sob escaping your lips. You hadn’t changed it of your work clothes yet. You just curled up on the couch, laying your head on the armrest.
———————————————————
You wernt aware of the fact that you fell asleep Untill you woke up to the sound of knocking. You were disoriented for a moment, your eyes burning like hell. You rubbed them but your vision came back blurry. You had a peircing headache and the knocking didnt help at all. You stumbled to the door, looking at the time the blinked on the oven.
12:05 a.m
You had only been asleep for 20 minutes. When you got the the door you looked through the peephole.
“Hotch?”
You mumbled under your breath as you quickly fumbled with the locks on your door. Eager to see what he was at your door for, but also scared. Once you opened it you saw Hotch. His eyes guilt ridden and tired.
“Can I come in?”
He asked softly. You nodded and stepped to the side, closing the door after him once he entered.
“Sorry for the mess.”
You mumbled, looking down at your feet. When hotch looked at you his world shattered. He saw how much of a wreck you were, and he knew it was him who made you like this. Your eyes were red and puffy, tears still on your cheeks. Every now and then when you blinked, a new one would fall. He was plagued with guilt. That was the whole reason why he was standing in your appartment at twelve o’ clock at night.
“Don’t apologize, it’s fine. You should see my appaartment”
He laughed dryly at the joke and you sniffled, a new tear falling down your face.
“Look, I came to apologize. For what I said…and did”
You nodded again. Taking in a shaky breath, and exhaling slowly.
“It’s fine. I cant expect you to not be stressed, after everything that… you know, with..”
Your voice trailed off, and you sniffled again, that being the only thing that took up the heavy silence that sat between the two of you.
“I know, but I also wanted to know,’
He paused and took a step towards you. When he notced you didnt move or step back he lifted a calloused hand and cupped your cheek, wiping away your tears. You finally met his eyes. Then he continued.
“If you really meant what you said’
‘What part?’
You were joking, but also curious, you said a lot and you were too tired to figure out what he could be talking about.
“When you said you loved me”
You looked down a little, your face resting more in his hand. You turned your head a little and softly kissed the inside of his palm, the meaty part just below this thumb; then turned your head back to where it was before. His other hand came up and cupped your other cheek, now holding your face completely. His hands were so big, so warm. You felt the rough callouses rubbing on your soft cheek whenever you moved a little but it didnt hurt.
You both stood like that for a second. Peering into each others eyes. Then he finally broke the silence.
‘May I kiss you?”
You opened your mouth to speak but no words came out. You just nodded and he leaned in closing his eyes and you closed yours, tilting your head to the side a little. His lips were so soft. The little stubble that he built up over the few days you were on the case, poked and tickled your skin. The kiss was so soft, so gentle. Almost as if he was scared to kiss you too hard in fear you would shatter and blow away.
When he pulled away he looked back into your eyes and moved one oh his hands to the back of your head, resting itself in your hair and the other hand went around your shoulder blades as be brought you into his chest, into one of the best hugs you’ve ever gotten. The two of you stayed like that for a while. Standing in your living room. Your arms eventually wrapped around his neck and you rested your face into the little crook where his neck met his torso. It all felt too perfect, so surreal. The kiss, the hug, everything.
Finally, he pulled away and brushed a little strand of hair behind your ear, then motioned to the couch.
‘Wanna go sit?”
You nodded, having completely given up on talking for now. He carefully led you to the couch and sat down, you sat next to him, but turning yourself twards him resting your face back in the crook of his neck. He gently pulled you onto his lap, exhaling sharply when he was met with the dull reminder of his healing wounds. He felt you tense up in his arms and he held you tighter, pulling you impossibly closer to him.
“shh, its ok, im ok. Im right here,”
You sniffled again, the tears threatening to come back.
‘It’s ok to cry, y/n’
He whispered into your hair, gently kissing the top of your head.
‘Talk to me, tell me what’s wrong. Im here to listen”
You took a deep breath in and exhaled, fidgeting with his tie.
“I was so cared…when I got to the warehouse and saw all the blood, I - I thought you died. I couldn’t lose you again. I cant lose you again Aaron.’
You voice went out at the mention of his name. A small sob escaped your lips as you held onto his tie a little tighter, your body going rigid. Aaron started tracing small circles and shapes on your back. Resting his chin on the top of your head.
“I know, I’m so, so sorry for scaring you like that. But I promise I’m not going anywhere. It’s gonna take a lot more than a couple stab wounds to kill me”
You felt him laugh a little and you did too, before sniffling again.
“Promise?”
“I promise.”
“Just close your eyes ok? I’ll be right here the whole time. Im not going anywhere, dont worry.”
His voice was so soft and caring. So gentle and knowing. It was hard to believe it was the same man holding you who was yelling at you just hours ago.
“Aaron?”
“Hmm?”
He smiled at the use of his first time.
“I love you”
The jet lag and exhaustion hit you all at once, your voice coming out to barley a whisper. You could feel it tugging at your eyelids. You closed them and as you were drifting off you felt him kiss your forehead.
“I love you too”
After that you drifted off into a dreamless sleep. Aaron played with your hair for a little and kept rubbing your back for a while, Untill the exhaustion from the days events wore home down too. And he fell asleep holding you close in his arms.

I love the conversations we got in episode 49 with Imogen and Laudna, Laudna and Ashton, Orym and Fearne, Orym and Imogen, and all the complexity and conflict around morality, loyalty, and past pain that show through in those conversations. That doesn’t stop me from also being frustrated with some of the characters in those conversations. Not angry at the voice actors for their choices. Not declaring that the characters are terrible people who I no longer like, just frustrated...like I would be with friends I love dearly but with whom I have deep differences of opinion.
Let’s take Imogen, for example. This is the second episode where we’ve gotten her saying almost the same thing after returning from one of her dream conversations with her mother: maybe we’ve got this situation all wrong. What have the gods ever done for us? Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if we just let Ludinus Da'leth and Otohan Thull do what they’re planning to do.
There’s a lot that’s probably going on under her argument that she’s not saying. At a guess it’s probably something like:
I don’t want to have to kill my mother and if we keep trying to stop this that may be a choice I have to make. I’ll do nearly anything to avoid having to be in that situation. I just found her, I don’t want to lose her again, permanently this time.
Last time we faced Otohan and her people they killed three of us, including Laudna. The next time they may kill some or all of us and I don’t want to lose anyone else either.
The loss of the gods is an idea so huge that it’s hard to wrap my head around what it would mean for the average person. I’m already intimately familiar with the pain of losing my mother and my friends from past experience. I’d rather avoid actual, lived pain than theoretical cosmic disaster.
All of that is completely understandable. The problem is she’s not saying any of it to Bells Hells as a group, probably because talking about it is too painful. But all that leaves her with is this detached argument about the nature of the gods, a justification that seems even more cold and callous once Orym reminds her (yet again) that the people she’s talking about are the same ones who killed his family.
And how is that fair for him to have to keep being the one (along with Ashton) to remind her of that? Is his pain less important than hers? He’s working so hard to be careful of her feelings even as he struggles to deal with his own anger, pain, and stress, and meanwhile she keeps falling back on this same argument that doesn’t seem to consider him or any of the rest of them at all. And of course once he points that out Imogen feels guilty, withdraws more and says less.
It’s not fair. It’s messy. It’s frustrating. It’s also perfectly in keeping with both of their characters. What makes it worse is timing. Bells Hells has had this conversation twice and the second time didn’t add anything that wasn’t already covered the first time. Orym and Ashton were more direct in their rebuttals the second time, but essentially it was the same conversation and their time for talking is running out. This is a tension that could have been lessened before they headed into the fight if Imogen talked more about what she’s feeling and thinking. However, if they were going to do that episode 49 was probably the last chance.
That feels frustrating to me, but I also can’t wait to see what they do with all of this in the next episode.

I just wanted to say thank you (2/2)
Here's part 2! it's longer than the first part but again, I couldn't stop writing. It's kinda a problem lol. Part one is here!
     Oh, how badly Roy wanted to kick Jamie’s ass.
     He wasn’t oblivious. When the little being was in Jamie’s grasp, he could tell that they were beyond terrified. Who knows what Jamie had done to them before he arrived? All he knew was that (1. they were terrified and (2. he seemed to be no exception. They were as scared of him as they were of Jamie.
     He went about the next few days as normal. Although, his eyes scanned the baseboards for any sight of that tiny person. He found himself lingering a bit longer in the locker room after practice, wondering if they'd be around. Soon enough, he was arriving a little early every day, hoping to catch a glimpse of them.
     Roy would deny it, but he was curious if that little person was alright. His thoughts went to them more than he’d like to admit. Even a few of his teammates were starting to notice that he seemed distracted during practice. He couldn’t shake his concern for them. He knew it would raise suspicion if he searched for them outright, so he kept it subtle.
     A few days of this went by and Roy wasn’t having much luck. The only things he had seen were a few cockroaches scuttling around. He was beginning to lose hope in his search. Was it time to call it quits? They could have left. Maybe that would be best for them. If he was in their shoes, he wouldn’t be itching to come back to a place with towering giants either.
     Even still, he wanted to see them again, one more time. Just to confirm that they were okay. Just to make sure they weren’t suffering from anything that Jamie might have put them through. But would they even accept comfort from him? To them, he was just another huge giant with unknown intentions. Roy thought about how it might appear from their perspective if he did search for them outright. Very intimidating, he concluded.
     During this time, y/n was just hiding out in the walls. Why they hadn’t left yet, they didn’t know. Their confidence had been shattered ever since the dreaded encounter. They were too paranoid to go out in the open during the day at all. At night, when they knew there was no one in the building, they still wouldn’t venture out, opting to play it safe. At this point, they were low on food and water, but getting by.
     The feeling of being unwillingly held was ingrained in their memory. That was definitely the worst part. Sometimes, they could vividly imagine the feeling of Jamie’s fingers around their torso. Even thinking about it made them shudder. The uncomfortable heat accompanied by the feeling of being completely powerless was not something they liked to remember.
     Oddly enough, they did think about one part of that whole situation more than anything else: when Roy walked in. Yes, it was petrifying in the moment. However, the more they relived the memory, the more they realized that Roy didn’t do anything to hurt them. If anything he… helped them.
     y/n was conflicted. They didn’t want to believe it. Roy was a human! He was just like any other. He was tall, imposing, gruff, and scary. ‘If he is all of those things, then why did help me? Why did he tell Jamie to quit messing with me? Roy seemed pretty upset with him. But those two argue all the time! He could be trying to get at Jamie, and it wasn’t about me at all,’ y/n pondered to themselves.
     Then again, Roy was a well-respected teammate. They could tell that even some of the other players would get intimidated by him from time to time. And yet, they still all trusted him as their captain. y/n bit the inside of their cheek in thought. Maybe he was different?
     Just as Roy started to quell his search, y/n occasionally started to peek out of the walls to observe him. There was a strange sense of gratitude that had welled inside them. They thought that if they got a better feel for his personality, they would be able to decide whether or not to act on that gratitude and approach him.
     It sounded ridiculous out loud, but all they wanted to say was thank you. If Roy didn’t show up when he did, they had no idea how far Jamie would have taken his bit. That was a fact that y/n couldn’t erase from their mind. They wanted to thank Roy, but they had to make sure he wasn’t secretly a horrible person.
     For a few days, y/n silently watched Roy while keeping out of sight. They began to see that even though he was gruff, intimidating, and cussed quite a lot, he did hold genuine care and respect for his teammates. That gratitude in their chest bubbled up a bit more. Maybe they would thank him. This realization was what they needed to finally muster up the courage to approach him on their terms.
     Exactly one week after their first meeting, Roy was the last to leave the locker room, again. He had been doing this for a couple days now, almost as if he was waiting for them. y/n quickly shook the thought out of their head. There was no way that was the case. It had to be a coincidence.
     A wave of deja vu hit them as they peeked out of their hole once again. Were they really about to do this? Willingly approach a giant who could easily crush them? They cast another glance at Roy. He was sitting there on a bench, slowly taking off his boots. This was their chance. Taking a deep breath, y/n emerged from the hole and made their way over to Roy.
     The walk seemed longer than when they last did it. Perhaps it was the looming trepidation in the back of their mind. Or maybe it was the giant figure of Roy that they were getting closer and closer to. He seemed to have something on his mind, as he wasn't looking at anything. Staring straight ahead with a blank expression, Roy let his fingers mindlessly untie his boots, seeming completely unaware of anything else around him.
     Finally, y/n reached the base of the bench that Roy was sitting on. They thought about calling him from here but knew their voice couldn’t carry that far. After another deep breath, they threw their hook up to catch on the bench so that they could climb up. It landed with a little clink, and their head snapped up to see if Roy heard the noise. There was no reaction from him.
     Y/n swallowed nervously as they looked, really looked, at Roy from where they were. They had forgotten how imposing this angle was. Shaking off their nerves, they began to climb the bench. Their hands were a little sweaty from nerves, so they slipped a few times while climbing the string. Thankfully, they made it to the top without too much trouble.
     Now came the hard part: getting his attention. Again, y/n contemplated talking to him, but suddenly their voice didn’t want to cooperate. Their arms began to fidget, picking at loose threads on their homemade shirt. They were trembling a little bit as well. Their borrower instincts were screaming at them to run away and get as far away from this giant as possible. But they couldn’t just walk away. Not when they were so close.
     Y/n lifted a trembling hand to tap on Roy’s leg. They hesitated. ‘Am I really about to do this?’ They thought to themselves. They moved Their hand closer, then pulled it back again. ‘What am I thinking? I should get out of here, right now.’ But they didn’t move. Steeling themselves to try again, they raised their hand once more. Keeping their eyes on Roy the entire time, they gingerly tapped his leg. Surprisingly, he looked down at them, a twinkle of curiosity in his eyes. Y/n tensed.
     Now, Roy had known they were there almost the entire time since they climbed the bench. He heard the little noise from their hook and initially brushed it off. That was until he could sense he wasn’t in the room alone. He stole a quick glance and watched as they nimbly climbed the bench. He could tell that even being around him was hard for them. Out of his peripherals, he could see their indecision when it came to approaching him. But that made him curious. What was so important to them that they were willing to approach someone that terrified them?
     Rather than starting the conversation before they were ready, he let them build up the courage to interact with him. Eventually, they did, with a tap so light he wouldn’t have felt it if he didn’t know they were there. “Ah, it’s you,” Roy said. He took note of how they flinched back at his voice. His words came out a bit gruffer than intended. “Did you need something?” he asked, his voice softer this time.
     It was so surreal to actually have a giant’s attention. Roy’s gaze was still intense, but also gentler than before. y/n closed their eyes because it was easier for them to feel composed when they couldn’t see the giant in front of them. After a few seconds, they found their words. “I wanted to… I mean… I came here to… to tell you—"
     “I know this is the last thing you want me to say, but I can’t hear you very well,” Roy gently interrupted. "Do you mind if I move somewhere I can hear you better?”
     Y/n opened their eyes and looked up at Roy, their expression quizzical. He could do whatever he liked and they wouldn’t be able to stop him. Even so, he was still asking if they were okay with it. His concern was new, a welcome change from how Jamie treated them. Still slightly confused as to why he was asking, they nodded.
     Roy stood up, not missing Y/n's little step back. He then sat down on the floor in front of them and rested his head on the bench. It was still a little close for their comfort, but not overbearing. They shuffled back a little more and took in his face up close. Everything about him was so big to them. It was… fascinating in a way.
     “Well?” Roy said, snapping y/n out of their trance. They were a little embarrassed to have been caught staring.
     “Oh! Right, sorry,” Y/n paused, regrouping their thoughts. Although still his usual self, they noticed that Roy seemed more patient than usual. “What I was saying was that… I wanted to thank you. You know, for last week.” y/n shifted their weight from foot to foot, at a loss for what to say next. “You didn’t have to help me, but you still did. I’m very… grateful for that. So… thanks.” They were looking everywhere except at him, wondering how he’d take their words.
     Roy let a soft exhale out of his nose. “I appreciate it, little one, but you don’t have to thank me for that,” he said calmly. “Jamie was treating you like shit, which wasn’t okay. As captain of the team, one of my responsibilities is keeping pricks like him in line. He had no right to be messing with you like that.”
     His concern took them aback. “It’s okay, really,” y/n mumbled. “People act like that towards borr— people like me all the time.” They barely caught their mistake.
     “That doesn’t make it fucking okay. Just because you’re tiny doesn’t mean you deserve any less respect,” Roy replied. There was a brief silence after that as Y/n processed his words. They were comforting, sure. No one had ever said that to them before. But the delivery was slightly off. His distaste for Jamie’s actions was made clear through his tone, and y/n found themselves tensing up subconsciously. Roy noticed this as well and sighed.
     “I’m sorry for scaring you. I’m sorry if Jamie scared you as well, since that ass won't apologize for himself,” Roy said, his voice returning to the soft timbre it had been at previously.
     “It’s okay. I know you didn’t mean to.” The words came out before y/n even knew what they were saying. Slowly, they were starting to feel more comfortable around him.
     “You let me know if he gives you any more trouble, okay? I’ll beat the shit out of him for you,” Roy said. y/n nodded understandingly when they felt a light pressure on their head. Looking up, they found that Roy was gently ruffling their hair with his finger. They cracked a smile, then stifled a laugh. Roy managed to hide a smile of his own. Seeing them more at ease made him happier than he’d care to admit.
     “Thank you…” y/n paused, giving him the chance to tell them his name. Of course, they knew his name already. They were just being polite and giving him the chance to ask for their name.
     “Roy. Roy Kent. And you are?”
     “y/n.”
     He nodded. “Nice to meet you, and you’re welcome, y/n,” Roy said. There was a moment of awkward silence where neither of them knew what to say.
     Finally, y/n spoke up, “I… I should really get going. It was nice meeting you.” With another small smile, they walked back over to their hook. “Bye, Roy,” they said before climbing back down the string. They couldn’t believe it. They had a full conversation with a human and he didn’t do anything to disrespect them. He treated them like a real person! The smile they had didn’t want to leave their face.
     “Cheers,” he called after them. y/n reached the floor and turned back around, giving Roy a little wave before jogging back toward the wall. Only when they had turned around and started leaving did Roy stand up. He was glad that he didn’t scare them too much. Hell, they were even laughing. He smiled to himself and began collecting his belongings as they ran off.
     They were both thinking the same thing as they went their separate ways: “I wonder if we’ll see each other again."
Endings are HARD I had like 9 different ways this could've gone in my head. Hopefully you enjoyed I haven't written creatively in a while :)

no worries if you don’t want to or can’t complete this request, but if your up to it i’ll req Cole Cassidy x reader who is apart of Talon? thank you so much! and no worries if you don’t want to do it, no pressure ❤️
I didn’t know if you wanted headcanons or just like a oneshot so I’m just going to do a oneshot but if you ever want me to do oneshot just ask! ❤️
Tw. Cussing, mention of criminal Organization “ Talon.”, mentions of killing people, Drugs. Yk all that good. Cole may be a little oc
Tumblr media
“ What… have you done…” he sat on the couch. His eyes shakes, he looked at you, his breath shaky and it almost seem he is asking the question to himself. His hand was tightly folded as he bit down on his cigarette, his eye had huge conflict behind it. “ what irrational thought made you decide to join Talon! Especially behind My back knowing that is what I’m fighting against!” He stood up abruptly, his signature hat falling down onto the ground as he looked at you with so much conflict and confusion.
“ Cassidy, I chose what I thought was the best of me when Overwatch left me in the dust, a long time ago, blackwatch was blamed for doing what Overwatch can’t, we did what we had to do and got blame for saving the world because we killed a bad person.” You grabbed at the door almost ripping it open before it was slam shut with much force.
He came over and grabbed your shoulders firmly, not tight enough to cause harm or bruising but enough to keep you grounded to not move. “ I’m not mad at you for whatever fucked up thing happen to make you chose that, but what I’m frustrated about is that you didn’t tell me, didn’t trust me enough for me to know you chose THAT side of the conflict. You know I wouldn’t do anything or judge you for choosing whatever you felt like was best, I just wish I had known.” He huffs as he takes a big breath of air before he wraps his arms around you.
It almost seems he was doing this to comfort himself, wrapping your arms around him you felt his heavy hot breathe on your skin. He took a deep breathe of your scent. “ please don’t ever hide that shit from me again. I’ve done some messed up things but I told you what I have done, don’t leave me hanging on what happens.” He mumbled as started patting your hair.
“ i’m Sorry, I should’ve told you, your with Overwatch and I’m with Talon…” you mumbled, but with his sharp ears he here instantly, “ I’m not going to leave Overwatch but I will never leave you, even if we both work for different organizations that doesn’t mean I will leave you behind, just please be safe when your with that shady business.” He stood up completely, grabbing the cigarette from his mouth and pushing the bud into the ash tray.
“ you need to stop making me worry, I’m growing grey hairs every single time you do this to me.” He groaned as he took off his poncho and wrapped it around your neck before he picked you up, “ we need a break from this bullshit.” He huffed as he carried you bridal style, coming to the bedroom he slammed you into the bed making you almost bounced from the force.
“ get some rest, I know your exhausted from whatever fucked up mission they took you on, but one thing you better promise me, no matter what shit they do, NEVER tell them anything about Overwatch.” He huffed as he saw you slowly nod, he jumped onto the bed laying beside you as he groaned. He almost got a major headache from this situation. “ I’m tired, you’re tired we’re going to bed now shut your eyes and go to sleep dumbass.”
He mumbled as he turned to the side your sleeping on, his eyes still held conflict and frustration but he knew he couldn’t take it out on you, he had both you and him on blackwatch who both did bad stuff, he joined deadlock and took people money and took drugs and selled them to third parties who have murder people. He couldn’t blame you for shit that you have done. “ you really need a new hobby.” He mumbled as he placed a hand behind his head and fell asleep. Still wearing the clothes he wore throughout the day.
His hat laid neatly on the shoulder of the bed. The blanket only covering his toes, his poncho that laid on your neck messy as his hair was a little messy as he watched you. Breathe in and out, it almost comforting that you can Atleast protect yourself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The reason why I didn’t make him like really angry or screaming breaking the place is because of the fact, Cole Cassidy already had betrayal, have done bad stuff, so as long as your not causing like big problems and blowing up the place I don’t think he would completely flip out. I think he would try to work it out with you but first let you get rest and recollect your guys mind before talking it out with you, and try to find a better solution for the both of you. This maybe because little oc but definitely when he stresses he start cursing up a storm. - Notes from Darling answers 🩷
Talon Organization has many different levels of dangerous but also Good system. Talon holds many different business some are actual better for the society, like running a local restaurant, or the Casino, it how they get money and have people feed there greed and life styles, so if Cole partner in Talon is just like a lower level than I don’t think he would be as bother as he would if you were a higher up like Gabriel Reyes and Moira O’Deorain. - Moderator. 🌊
Ibara Saegusa - Caution or Warning?
Tumblr media
Event: Two Sides◆The 2×2 of Lies And Truth
Episode 1:
Tumblr media
(Location: Cafe)
Ibara: Ahaha! I never expected Anzu-san to accept my invitation so readily. I’m very happy to hear that!
…… And that’s enough flattery. To my understanding, you accepted the invitation because you felt guilty, right?
The people who decided to accept the 2x2 job were the two from 2wink. You were just respecting their wishes.
Option 1: But……
Ibara: There’s no “but” about it. Arrangements have already begun, and you must have been making preparations for some time.
Is this a time to brood? For now, take responsibility for the new program and the idols appearing on it, and focus on seeing it through to the end.
Option 2: I apologize for the inconvenience……
Ibara: I don’t know what will happen in the future, but…… So far, I haven’t had any trouble.
It’s true that no matter how active 2wink is on that program, there’s nothing in it for us, so I can’t exactly be thankful for it!
Option 3: Thank you……
Ibara: Instead of saying “thank you,” your face looks like it’s saying “I’m sorry.”
This time, I’m not involved in the program at all. If you would like to show your gratitude, then please give generously to our office’s idols.
Episode 2:
Tumblr media
(Location: Cafe)
Ibara: …… Or rather, the huge amount of material you were compiling the other day was for 2x2.
I got the point from both your unclear answer and your unsatisfied attitude.
Factional conflicts are common. Wouldn’t it be better to learn more about tactics and strategies to not only survive, but to also advance yourself?
Option 1: Hm~mm……
Ibara: I don’t think there’s anything wrong with increasing the number of weapons you can use on the battlefield.
If you think that it’ll be a burden to you or a negative, I won’t force you to do it. It’s just a suggestion.
Option 2: Is there a way to prevent it?
Ibara: Hold on, how could you have prevented this situation?
…… If you’re thinking about self-defense in the future, I think you should take this opportunity to learn. For you, and for the idols.
Option 3: You mean the secret of success in life?
Ibara: Ah, I think you’re missing that too. The world is not so kind that you can get by with only good humanity.
Kindness can sometimes hurt the dignity of others. Therefore, I think it’s a necessary skill to “not hurt others.”
Episode 3:
Tumblr media
(Location: Cafe)
Ibara: —Now then. If we keep talking like this, you’ll get bored and won’t be able to relax.
You may be dissatisfied with the long wait when your menu has only been opened. Shall we choose something and order it?
A seasonal limited menu, a meal set only available during lunch…… Has Anzu-san already decided what she wants to eat?
Option 1: Have you decided yet?
Ibara: Yes. Since I only order drinks, I just have to look at the pages that have drinks and decide quickly.
Even if you tell me to eat properly…… I understand. I’ll eat something, so please don’t be so aggressive at times like this.
Option 2: I’m still worried.
Ibara: If I could give Anzu-san one piece of advice, it would be to use the calorie index as a reference at restaurants.
See, it’s listed next to each menu item. Looking beyond photos and prices may help solve your problem.
Option 3: I want to think about it a little more.
Ibara: You’re having trouble deciding which of the three limited menu items to choose…… Then, let’s make a quick decision using Ghost Leg lottery. (1)
And if you want to try other things, just visit again during the offer period. If you do that, you’ll eventually conquer the menu♪
---
TL NOTES:
Ghost Leg is a method of lottery where vertical lines are drawn between the players and an outcome, with horizontal legs between those lines (as added by the players, who don't know which end of the vertical lines equals what/who). From there, the players trace down from the top of the vertical line, crossing between lines whenever a horizontal leg is encountered until they reach the bottom and receive whatever outcome that indicates. In Japan, it's referred to as "阿弥陀籤" (Amidakuji). It's also known as "사다리타기" (Sadaritagi) in Korea and "鬼腳圖" (Guijiaotu) in China.
🍂 Fictober 2022 🍂 Taglist 🍂 Steve Harrington Masterlist 🍂
Tumblr media
It was rare but there were some days when you and Steve could just enjoy your company.
No kids would show up with problems.
No Upside Down related drama.
Just the two of you on a chilly October night.
You woke up feeling like you were on one of those lucky days, movie night with Steve would be looking more like a date and not like a big sleepover — don’t get it wrong, those were amazing and very funny with everyone’s presence, but sometimes you only wanted to lay down on the couch and cuddle with Steve while a terrible horror movie was on the screen and you had an excuse to kiss your boyfriend everytime he got scared — for someone so brave in real life he really got frightened by weird stuff on scary movies.
But you should know better than that, things were too peaceful at Hawkins during the last week and something would show up to mess up with your night.
And that something would be Dustin’s fight with Suzie.
You were already in your safe place, curled up against Steve as you focused on the movie, trying to predict the next jump your boyfriend would give. Until the doorbell rang and you both jumped because of it — in your defense you were not counting on real life noises to be a part of the night.
Opening the door you looked at a very sad Dustin, with a tinge of annoyance hiding behind his eyes too. The last one was so typical of him you didn’t even take note.
“Suzie broke up with me.” He announced, walking past you and throwing himself on the couch next to a very confused Steve Harrington.
You signed to your boyfriend, making him accompany you to the kitchen where the popcorn you were making was just ready. Pouring it on the nearest bowl you could find, you looked at Steve who was clearly worried about his little friend.
“What should we do?” Steve looked conflicted between the sad teenager sitting on your couch and the bowl of popcorn on your hand. Your eyes locked with his, silently saying what you had to do and already taking a few steps closer to the living room to give Dustin some of the popcorn. “No, anything but that.” He was quick to protest.
“Steve, did you look at his face?” You whispered. “I know he and Susie will figure things out in no time and he’ll be back to be his old self, but right now that kid needs you!”
“Hey! Don’t get all righteous with me now.” He stole the bowl from your hands. “I’m just saying we make more popcorn, because this was supposed to be a ‘special delivery to my love’ and I’m quoting your own words.” He punctuated the end of the sentence by throwing a bunch of popcorn in his mouth.
“All right, so you leave the special delivery here and go take this glass of water to him while I make more popcorn.” You traded the bowl for the water ignoring his pout and went back to your mission to make more popcorn.
Steve followed your instructions very well and soon you heard muffled words coming from the living room. He was so great with Dustin even if he wouldn’t admit how much he loved the kid.
“Hey, Y/n!” You heard Dustin call you. “I’m gonna need something stronger than this water, you know? It’s a critical situation.”
You laugh at how dramatic he was, but you remembered how things used to feel so heightened at that age. “I’m coming with popcorn and soda! Hope you’re up for something scary, kid. We’re doing the full not talking about relationships night…”
And in the end the “break up” was just a huge mistake and Suzie would call Dustin the next morning and explain everything to him. It didn’t matter you lost your date, because making Dustin smile in a moment like that really felt great and there would be a whole bunch of other nights.
A Defense(?) of Holly
I’ll be upfront: I do not think Holly has done anything wrong across the books and that Lucy’s contempt can be mostly (but not entirely) attributed to having a huge case of bitch eating crackers. That said, I do think a lot of the friction between the two is exacerbated by the fact that to Lucy, Lockwood and co is her home, while to Holly, Lockwood and co is her workplace.
Lucy’s coworkers are her roommates (and, though this is more unspoken in the books, her family); her work life and private life are intertwined to the point of being almost inseparable. This is not something Lucy dislikes; I don’t have the book on me at hand, but I distinctly remember Lucy at the beginning of The Hollow Boy reflecting on how busy they were but how contented she feels with the life she has. Holly’s introduction feels incongruous in part because her presence is purely professional. She does not move in with them and thus develop the kind of domestic closeness with them that comes from being roommates; she arrives at 9 am, works her contracted set of hours, then goes home.
As such, Holly does not share in the informal bickering that Lucy, Lockwood and George engage in. She, like most of us who work, puts on a professional work persona and sticks to it. It does mean that she is going to come across as kind of fake and insincere, because all professional work personas (particularly of the white-collar, secretarial kind that Holly does) necessarily involve a bit of faking and insincerity. This kind of exactingly agreeable, pleasant and polite behaviour is, coincidentally, something that Lucy is extremely bad at both doing and engaging with.
This is not really anyone’s fault, I would say. Just as Lucy treats her home as a home, Holly, quite reasonably, treats her workplace as a workplace. She sees herself as under no obligation to share her private life and true feelings with her colleagues, and where annoyances/disagreements among the trio are normally resolved through direct arguments/bickering, she does so through trying to come up with for the most conflict-defusing, maximally diplomatic response.
I have to admit, if I were in Lucy’s shoes, I also wouldn’t take to the workplace-ification (so to speak) of my home particularly gracefully. Imagine if you were lying in bed having a nice sleep-in and a work colleague knocked on your door and asked, hey sorry hope I’m not disturbing but I was wondering if you were coming to the 10:30 meeting? I would feel kind of uncomfortable and imposed on! At the same time, it wouldn’t be fun for the person knocking on the door either; it’s an awkward situation for all! I know the example I used is not quite the same as the actual event in The Hollow Boy, but in my opinion Holly’s main sin was being a bit gauche in how she handled it.
While we aren’t privy to Holly’s thoughts throughout The Hollow Boy (worse yet: everything we get is through Lucy’s perspective), I see no evidence that Holly is being deliberately manipulative or underhanded towards Lucy. All I see is Holly doggedly trying to maintain a professional relationship with a colleague who, let’s be real, is being an asshole to her. (In my head I like to imagine she goes home each night and vents to her flatmates about ugh this bratty teen who has decided to hate me for some goddamn reason) When Holly loses it and finally goes off at Lucy, the vast majority of her complaints are (very reasonably!) about Lucy’s unfounded and poorly-disguised contempt towards her.
(On a slightly unrelated note: I do think, strangely enough, that The Hollow Boy may be the book I enjoyed the most. It certainly has the most going on, psychologically, with Lucy regarding her feelings of jealousy, inadequacy and displacement. But you do need to have a certain patience for teenage bullshit, because frankly a lot of it is teenage bullshit. All this drama is really just Lucy not knowing two basic co-worker skills: How To Interact With Colleagues You Don’t Personally Vibe With and How To Use Your Words To Tell Someone That What They Are Doing Is A Bit Annoying.)
Why Everyone is Salty with Amanda Seales but not Katt Williams
It’s been a couple-few weeks since Amanda Seales posted an Instagram video dropping dimes on the lack of support she receives from Black media and we’re still blaming the victim. It’s the [insert strong Black woman] celebrity version of “but what were you wearing?” the accusation that keeps many sexual assault victims silent.
“Likability plays a huge role in our career trajectory” was the focus of an Essence op-ed about the actress and comedian.
Black Enterprise wrote that her post was “whining” and “complaining.”
TheGrio also chimed in with its own version of “she’s not a victim; she’s just loud and wrong.”
Even here at The Root we asked if Seales is the problem, citing her long-time divisive nature. (It should be noted that I, on a selection panel that included The Root’s editor in chief, other editors and a group of Howard University journalism students, chose Amanda Seales to be one of The Root 100 in 2023 for her witty, fearless and candid insights.)
Social media has, of course, spent the better part of the last weeks firmly coming down on the “it’s her; Seales is the issue” side of the discussion:
“We live in an era where folks absolutely don’t want to take personal responsibility for ANYTHING. There’s truth to the fact that if you are the common denominator in messed up situations maybe pause and ask ‘What is my role in this?’” started one Facebook comment.
On X (formerly Twitter), @Joshyoutrippin posted, “I hate when people like Amanda Seales, that live their lives as provocateurs rubbing people the wrong way, start acting surprised that people don’t rock with them. You’re annoying and no one wants to be around you. Don’t blame Black spaces for your bad personality.”
@feministajones shared her disdain for Seales on Threads in a series of posts that called the comedian “a nasty ass troll whose words have caused material harm and damage with nary an apology in sight.”
On Insta, one commenter summed up their feelings about Seales with a short and caustic, “No platform likes her…she is negative.”
Tumblr media
If I’m correct in my understanding, when Williams roasts folks, he’s honest and refreshing. When Seales provokes discourse on myriad topics, including colorism, navigating industry social circles, gender identity, racism, dating f-boys and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, she’s a “professional polarizer” and “unpalatable.” Got it.
I don’t know Seales personally but admire the way she provokes conversations that challenge societal norms, which is what comedians do, right? The criticism she is receiving now is reminiscent of the treatment faced by actress and comedian Mo’nique when she stood firm in telling her truth. In its reporting, The Refinery 29 suggested she faced consequences for not playing the game.
The far greater likelihood? We are uncomfortable when a strong Black woman voices her opinion. Be loud, be bold, we tell our girls in 2024. Don’t dim your light. Don’t ever change. But apparently it’s in bad form to be too loud, too bold or too bright.
As one IG poster, one of the few who came in support of Seales, commented: “The saddest part is if you were a man you being likeable wouldn’t even be a factor. The industry rewards opinionated, outspoken men — but punishes women who do the same.”
Funny (sarcasm intended) how that rings true.
