Emesis Blue is the best sfm ever! This is my first Emesis Blue ask and I am so very happy! I am crying tears of joy right now.

instead of fighting or sharing the new recruit, how about both? ;)

Warnings: some blood, mild gore, nothing bad happens.

This was not what you were expecting when you signed up to be a part of the Mann Co cleaning crew. The job offered a decent pay with good benefits and a flexible schedule. But the commute was hell. It took you a good two and a half hours to get to the site and as far as you could see, there was no visible damage to the structure itself. Formerly the RED base; now the Conager Slaughterhouse.

The black clouds above you seemed to groan with the heavy weight of oncoming rain. The clouds were dark and ominous, the smell of moisture in the air and whatever resided in the slaughterhouse sewer mixed together in an abhorrent stink.

Looking to the side of the car, then to the other side you opened the car door and stepped out onto the gravely landscape. It was odd, you were the only one here. Pulling out the crumpled letter in your pocket containing the name and address of the place you furrowed your brow.

"This, this is the place."

Folding the paper back up and sliding it back into your pocket you took a step forward. Looking around at the building you could tell that is hasn't acted as a slaughterhouse for a long, long time. Shuddering involuntarily, you make your way towards the old wooden bridge. Eyeing your car one last time you waled closer to the front doors. Two identical doors on the same side of the wall were strange, but hey, you figured that each building has its own eccentricities. Making your way inside and stepping over the singular large stepping the doorway you were hit with the strong smell of iron and something rotting.

"Hello? I'm here with the Mann Co cleaning department! There are supposed to be more people here and I-"

A strong hand covered your mouth before you could even finish your sentence. Breathing hysterically through your nose you pulled desperately against the hand covering your mouth.

"Hush now, we gotta stay quiet or else you end up dead."

Not daring to move a muscle you gave a small hum of fear and confusion.

"Now then, I'm gonnae remove me hand and when I do: DONT make a sound, okay?"

Nodding tearfully, you could feel the larger man remove his hand. Turning around to face him you took notice of two things. One: This man was the supposed missing Demoman from the RED team. And two: His other arm was ripped clean out of its socket. You didn't know which observation made you more scared.

Hearing footsteps from behind you whipped your head around and came face to chest with another large man. From the looks of it, and his helmet he appeared to be a Soldier.

"Listen here kid, if you go back out there after making all that racket, you'll get shot. Now, you are going to see things, but if we stick together and IF you follow my orders to a T, we'll be okay."

Swallowing the lump in your throat you forced your head to give a nod of understanding.

"There will be no one else arriving at this location, you are the only member of the cleaning crew to make it here. So, if you want to survive then we will be treating you like a new recruit. Understand?"

Giving another curt nod the Soldier led you around the corner and deeper into the base. The sounds of the floorboards creaking and shifting above you made you flinch.

Eyeing the way that Soldier led you further into the base made his blood boil. He and Soldier worked hard to ensure that you would come here by yourself. Why is he the one who gets to lead you? Locking eyes with Soldier the same thought flashed into their minds; Their ours now. Letting go of his annoyance he allowed a small smile to rest on his lips. With the Connagers dead, and your crew MIA, you were all theirs. You wouldn't even know that even right now there was nothing to be afraid of. Everything was dead. And just for you, they could keep up the charade. In time you would come to rely on them completely. After all, isn't that what love is?

I finally saw uncharted for the first time I know long time, but just never found the time before I actually enjoyed much more than I thought I would, definitely had ro turn my brain off at moments but truly lowkey fun.

Imo I feel like I might get hate for this but I dont think tom makes for a good action star/lead. Hes certainly bubbly and charming on screen but the fight scenes in uncharted were very bad and alot of it has to do with the look of them but also the fight choreography just lacks imagination. I wasnt expecting nathan drake to know martial arts ( in the context of who nathan is he shouldnt really be a great fighter- ) but the fight scenes were clunky and very unconvincing.

But overall liked the film, doesnt take its too seriously, though its not something I'll ever watch again.

How can you even call yourself a Tom fan?? 😅 No, I'm just joking lol. 😇😅

I saw "Uncharted" several times at the theater lol 🤭 And I've seen it streaming. I even own it on Blu-ray rofl 🤣 (I know.... who ACTUALLY still buys hard copy movies these days anymore right lol? Yours truly ✋🏾😆)

Giiiiirlllll.... you may have wanted to wait for "Confession Sunday" for this post coz you're about to get dragged from here to Kingdom come lol 😆

How on earth can you say that Tom doesn't make a good "action star" when he's LITERALLY Spiderman, does a LOT of his own stunts, and has put on the spidey suit more than any other actor? 🤔

I'm confused lol 😆 😅

Tom is very talented with stunts because he's been doing gymnastics and dance lessons since he was a kid, so he knows how to move his body and ensure he doesn't get hurt on set, etc.

He was actually the BEST actor they could have chosen for Spiderman imo (and this was before they knew he could do flips and such lol 😆).

I can totally understand if you didn't like the specific fight choreography in "Uncharted" (I thought it was fine), but to say that Tom isn't a "good action star" is stretching it a BIT don't you think? He's probably the BEST action star in his age range and peer group tbh imo. 😊

But I guess we can all have different opinions on that. 🤷🏾‍♀️

"Uncharted" was a fluff action film that was supposed to be good fun, good action, and basically a popcorn film. 🍿 I thought it was great for what it was supposed to be. 👍🏾

[buckle up; this one is a long one (1.6k words)]

things weren’t supposed to turn out this way.

she was supposed to show up, apologize “sincerely,” and the boys, her boys, were supposed to welcome her with open arms and swiftly discard of you.

instead, she was sitting in the back of a cramped police car with two pigs, one of which had a horrible b.o. problem and an affinity for sauerkraut.

it was so frustrating.

and, of course, it was all your fault.

you’d been blocking her from true happiness ever since the beginning when you’d first met in middle school. it was crazy because you’d actually seemed nice; kind, understanding, and you didn’t judge her for what her father did to her mother or for how she acted out because of that.

sure, you were a little weird and sometimes you could be downright rude to other kids in your class but you cared for her in a way that no one else had before.

(un)fortunately, you didn’t come alone — you were a packaged deal. your childhood friend, daishou, came into her life right along with you. she didn’t mind at first; daishou was fun when he wanted to be but he was mostly full of snarky comments and sarcastic quips.

the three of you spent all your time with each other; from playing at the playground to helping her begin her makeup youtube channel in 8th grade.

you all got along pretty well up until you got to highschool. once there, you threw yourself into your studies, sort of retracting yourself from her and daishou.

how selfish.

she couldn’t help but feel betrayed by you—you knew how bad she was at making friends and you didn’t even care, leaving her all alone to fend for herself.

well, not all by herself.

daishou was a constant. no matter where she was, or how alone she was feeling, he was there to provide entertainment at the most, and his presence at the least.

it wasn’t always the healthiest, most functional friendship, she could admit that. there were weeks that daishou would choose to ignore her for no apparent rhyme or reason, citing his explanation as he just didn’t feel like it.

obviously it sucked but he was her only friend, ever since you so cruelly abandoned them. i mean, you still ate lunch with them every day and invited them over to study and hang out, but it was not the same.

with you so absent, she grew closer and closer to daishou to the point she was spending almost every waking moment with him. and, as the story so goes, she fell for him, head over heels.

she knew it was a bad idea, if their friendship was anything to go off of but she didn’t care. she was desperate for love and physical affection and he seemed willing to at least give her the latter.

after she decided to confess, nerves all the way in her throat and a box of chocolates behind her back, daishou took her virginity in the back of his ford fusion, hard, fast and nothing like she’d imagined.

the next day, she’d cornered you in the library (where you always seemed to be) to tell you the good news. your face was unusually blank as she detailed the best night of her life to you, your response being less than stellar when she was done. “please be careful,” you had said.

what did that even mean? you clearly wanted to keep daishou safe from her which was ridiculous because weren’t you supposed to be her friend too? she’d stormed out of the library after that, determined to demand a kiss from daishou to make her feel better.

that day was one of the last that she’d see you for a while. you got caught up with clubs and schoolwork (and apparently therapy for god knows what) while she got caught up with daishou.

things with him weren’t... great. they never really were but things were getting even worse. his random bouts of silence got longer and though it was only freshman year and they’d been dating for less than 5 months, he’d meet with her after school with a hickey plastered on his collarbone that she knew she didn’t put there (she sucked even harder over the spot to claim it as her own).

as she said, things weren’t great but they weren’t horrible either. they remained that way all the way up until sophomore year.

you and her had drifted even further, hardly speaking to one another unless it was for a project or to vaguely greet one another in the halls. it was okay though. you had all your other friends and she... well she had daishou.

speaking of, her “boyfriend” had been more distant than usual. she wasn’t an idiot and she knew he’d been seeing other girls on the side, but she believed she would be the one he’d end up with, the one he’d marry.

how foolish she had been.

it was prom night and she felt beautiful. her beauty channel had finally begun picking up traction (she’d just hit 13k subscribers the night before!!) so she filmed a prom night makeup tutorial, making sure that every square inch of her face was perfect. donning a silky blue floor length dress, she felt like a princess and she certainly looked the part.

she showed up to daishou’s house about 30 minutes before the event, ringing his doorbell with an elated grin painted all over her face. he had mentioned in passing that his parents and older sister would be out for the weekend, leaving the house for themselves. that meant sex and sex meant being wanted.

after the third ring of the bell, she started to get nervous. maybe he wasn’t ready yet? maybe he needed help with his tie? just when she was about to wring the bell again, the door swung open to reveal daishou... not in his suit.

“oh, it’s you,” he’d grumbled. “‘m not goin’ to prom.” she felt her breath catch in her throat. she’d protested and begged for an explanation but he wouldn’t give one to her. eventually, she’d followed him into his house, furious because how could he do this to her? on her night?

it didn’t take very long for him to get fed up, his snake-like eyes honing in on her, filled with venom. “‘m not goin’ because i don’t like you anymore. you still look pretty though.”

just like that, with just a few words, he’d shattered her heart. she was frozen in place, completely disconnected from daishou, her love, as he not-so-gently pushed her out the door, slamming it in her face.

she felt tears stream down her cheeks and before she knew it, her legs were carrying her to a place she hadn’t been in months.

banging frantically on the door, she cried out, begging for someone, anyone to hear her. the door opened quickly and there you stood. you’d clearly been studying but as you took in her frazzled appearance, it seemed as though your heart broke.

you ushered her inside, sat her own the couch, and began to make her a cup of tea, your parents having been out for the night as well. once the kettle went off, you quickly prepped her drink and gave it to her, the words flowing out of her like liquid once she had taken a sip.

she didn’t know why she was even there but despite the animosity between the two of you, you seemed like you truly... cared. (neither of you mentioned the tears that stained your favorite t shirt or the quiet apologies you muttered into her hair).

that night quickly went and passed and by the next day, she was feeling rejuvenated and more like herself. however, that feeling quickly dissipated when she caught you in the hallway between classes speaking with daishou behind the stairwell in hushed tones.

within the span of a few hours, her heart had been broken twice and she was sure she’d never felt such heartache before.

she turned on her heel and darted away, avoiding your every attempt to talk to her for weeks and weeks until you just... stopped trying. after you’d cut off conversation, yet again, the sadness quickly festered and morphed into anger.

that anger only grew when she watched you graduate at the top of your class in your senior year, your smile blinding as you accepted your diploma. it only grew when she saw that you had made it into the university of your choice on your instagram story, her own rejection letter torn up in the bottom of her wastebin. it only grew when she saw you’d made your own youtube channel, her own going untouched and neglected (her last video had been a half-assed “get ready with me” that had more dislikes than likes due to her horrible makeup and even worse attitude).

soon enough, the rage had intensified until it had taken over her whole being. she was just so angry at all that you’d done to her, all the ways you’d ruined her life that she couldn’t keep herself from plotting your demise.

when she got the email from the hyper house management team that invited her into the house and offered the option that she could pick someone she wanted to move in as well, her anger turned into excitement.

this was her chance. this was her moment to turn your life into a living hell, to make it at least a fraction of what she went through by your hands.

she was going to make you pay and god, was it going to feel great.

the metal of the handcuffs chafed her wrists as she adjusted herself against the cool leather of the cruiser, the discomfort removing her from her reverie.

yeah, right. it seemed as though she was the only one “paying” right about now.

she tilted her head back to stare at the ceiling, tears filling her eyes but refusing to fall.

things definitely weren’t meant to turn out like this. not at all.

“Are you sure this is a good idea, y/n?” Bennett asked, reluctantly handing you the flour you requested. “Of course, Benny! And before you say it, i dont care if your luck messes things up, as long as we have fun!”

He hummed for a second, as if deep in thought before grinning and nodding. “Alright then! What does the recipe say?”

You and Bennett were going to make halloween cookies and cupcakes, and (if things went well) you were going to invite razor and fishcl to enjoy them with you. Surprisingly, everything went well making the cupcakes, however, when you started to make the cookies things went a bit…. odd.

“I. Dont. Understand.” You said, kneading the dough - if it could be called that - with as much force as you could muster. You flung your hands up in defeat and sighed. “WHY wont it turn unto dough? Its just sticky flour- UGH” you had tried to run your fingers through your hair, forgetting the “cookie dough” on your hands. “Y/n, stop moving! You’ll make it worse! Hang on, ill get some water!” Thankfully, Bennett was there to attempt to assist you in getting the mix out of you hair. You spent a good few minutes getting the dough put of your hair, and after a quick peck on the cheek, you went back to inspecting the so-called dough woth Bennett.

“Should we try again, or just leave it?” You asked him, frowning slightly. “Hmm…. im not sure, its getting kinda late…”

“okay, im gonna take that as leaving it. It is getting pretty late and after all, we do have the- THE CUPCAKES”

somehow, from being in the bathroom washing the dough out of your hair, you hadnt noticed the small puffs of smoke coming from the oven. You raced over, just to find…

“Completely burnt. How did-? How did we not even smell it? How did it burn so fast, even? I dont-“

“Im sorry, y/n. It’s probably my-“

“Benny. What did we talk about? Its not your fault when things go wrong. You cant control your luck.” You said softly, laying a hand on his shoulder. He smiled sadly and nodded, before taking the cupackes out to get a better look at them.

“Hmm, i dont think we’ll be able to salvage these. What time are razor and fishcl coming over at? We can always run to good hunter and get some halloween treats”

So, even though you didnt get to decorate cool spiders and pumpkins on the cookies, you still ended uo spending the evening with friends, eating “home-made” ghost cupcakes, and roasted pumpkin seeds :)

hey sorry this is totally out of the blue but like ive like been searching for the odd taxi shiho and yamamoto mini episode from the blu ray box everywhere but i couldnt find it and i saw that you posted a pic of it and im honestly surprised someone in the english fandom got their hands on it i didnt even know it had english subs 0_0 if that is your picture i was wondering if you could provide a summary of it or anything because im interested in it atm understandable if you dont want to though

hello! i own the bluray boxset :) i was surprised it had English subs as well. i dont remember the full thing bc i watched it only once and unfortunately its at my parents house lol

uh spoilers ig. also just keep in mind this is from memory

shiho talks about how yamamoto is flaunting in his typing/working on his laptop. yamamoto says he's not sure she's using the word flaunt correctly. he talks about the fact shiho is at his workplace and isnt she the one flaunting by using her faceroller (thats the lil purple/pink thing around her cheeks)

shiho mentions that she got a mean comment on her social media and that rui did as well. yamamoto brushes it off saying that its part of working in the industry. shiho suggests that the message is from (i cant remember her name lmao evil black cat girl) because the comment said something only someone from inside would know

shiho asks if yamamoto notices anything different about her. yamamoto asks if she got a haircut, shiho says no and says others noticed, even that old man she's seeing. yamo asks her to turn her head away and then turn around real quick. he gets it wrong and asks shiho to do it again (yamamoto epic fail moment).

shiho tells him she got plastic surgery (cant remember the exact procedure) and expresses concern that she is not cute enough and thats why she has to wear the mask. she says she's going to keep on getting plastic surgery procedures to be even cuter. she pesters yamamoto for the reason she has to wear the mask. yamamoto starts to give an explanation but then seems to want to tell her the real reasoning but someone at the door interrupts them before he reveals anything

thats all i remember 🥲 i hope a more thorough synopsis comes out! a lot of ppl should be receiving their blurays so i would keep a look out.

ok i pwomise no frustrated review posting after this i just gotta. i just gotta say words on my own blog you know (cut for The Green Knight spoilers)

I CANT UNDERSTAND WHYYYYYYYY it was rewritten to be like, Rude Upstart Coolguy learns the meaning of Honour after Facing His Fear like. LIKE EVERY OTHER YOUNG GUY PROTAG MOVIE EVER? i DONT find this movie to be loyal or modern in its narrative and im jjust smiling and nodding at all the praise its getting

head in my hands. sighing and lamenting etc. I loved the original poem so much Because Gawain is so honourable but only really in theory. he hasn’t had the chance to PROVE it really, and he does so well at being clever and chivalrous all the way through UNTIL he’s faced with his death at the end and HE LIES AND STEALS TO AVOID IT.......... THE POINT IS HE FAILS.... AND HAS 2 BEAR THE SCAR AND TOKEN OF HIS FAILURE 4 EVER.... his failure at the end Makes him More Honourable bc he Learns............. idk at the risk of sounding petulant it just feels like the film rewrote it to be “easier” and it feels bland and annoying 2 me. he doesnt really go through that change until the last 10 mins.

a few people said they want to hear it so here we go:

my theory on mikey, gerard and vampires

part 1: fangs and appearance

mikey nearly never smiled or showed his teeth because he had fangs and it was a pain to disguise them. he started smiling with his mouth open more after the danger days era because he finally got them filed down.

[pic 1] this picture is probably 2008-9ish, and you can see he has sharp canines, like some people do.

[pic 2] but come on. tell me this doesnt look like a vampire.

[pic 3] even right here, you can see that he has fangs.

he was almost always seen in hoodies or thick shirts and hats because the sun cant get through them, or he could use a lot of sunscreen (which probably got recognised as sweat, seeing as he was normally performing in small, hot venues or outside on a sunny day.)

he never did bloody or scary makeup for revenge because he didnt want anyone to associate him with vampires like they did gerard.

part 2: gerard taking the attention off mikey

we dont need to discuss how much gerard would do to protect their brother, i think we all understand that. but anyway, when gerard found out mikey was a vampire, they didnt need to take a bunch of precautions because an adult isnt going to look at a kid and say “i think he’s a vampire” and if a kid says it, nobody would believe the kid.

its only after they started the band and it grew in popularity that gerard and mikey went “oh shit, they might figure it out” and so their next album was very focused on gerard being the vampire instead of mikey. gerard doused themself in white powder, red eyeshadow and black eyeliner, smeared fake blood on their lips, and wore a bat belt buckle, and did a lot of things deemed as vampiric to take all suspicions off of mikey because obviously, if one of them was a vampire it would be the one with the pasty face and bloody lips instead of the one with a beanie and glasses, right? i think their goal was to make themself seem so vampiric, so spooky and bloody that nobody would think for a second that mikey (an actual vampire) could be a vampire.

part 3: hints and references in their music

Vampires will never hurt you - we dont need to anylaze the lyrics, because there isnt much actually related to vampires there, but i think the title is some inside joke between mikey and gerard about how non-violent mikey is, despite being a vampire. its either that or a bad effort at de-stigmatizing vampires so that one day mikey can openly say “hey yeah i drink people’s blood”. im assuming its the former.

part 4: other little things

he said in one interview that he was really afraid of sharks and the ocean when he was a kid. but of course, when youre a kid youre stupid. i think that because its normal to have a lot of skin out while at the beach, the sun hurt his skin and he didnt know it was the sun, but he already associated sharks with pain and water, and because he was in pain at a place with water and possibly sharks, that turned into a fear of sharks instead of a fear of being in the sun and shirtless at the beach.

actual quote from frank: “yeah, he gets out of the way. he’s like a jaguar.” they were talking about how frank has injured every member but mikey. its a bit of a stretch, but i think this might have something to do with echolocation, because theres obviously sound coming off his bass that would bounce back and alert him when frank (or any other danger, but mainly frank) is near him, and he also probably has bat-like reflexes that help him get out of the way after his echolocation alerted him that frank was coming to ram him with a guitar.

also, bats are the only mammals who have knees that bend backwards, so that would explain the “awkward knees” that mikey has

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that 'Social Commentary' on the old blus was basically a mirror of the LiveTweets, with the info coming up onscreen during an episode. (DVD can't do this without storing an additional video track, only Blu can do popups) I don't believe s23 had livetweets though, just to make this whole situation a little stranger.

Yes, social commentary started in s19 and happened for a few seasons, I dont rememebr s22 having it either (? Idk i have the dvd of that season so i cant tell you but i dont rememebr any livetweets)

Sushio’s latest Kill la Kill fanart got me thinking.

See, Senketsu... doesn’t exactly get a ton of stuff like this. Kill la Kill animator doujin and Twitter accounts won’t include much content featuring him.

And that’s totally fine, of course! These are drawings the staff do for fun, and I completely understand if drawing Senketsu ain’t as fun as drawing human characters.

But I actually got the Kill la Kill Starter Book recently, which was originally sold at Comiket 84 and then included as a purchase bonus on Aniplex+:

And flipping through the book, I was reminded that while Senketsu may not get a lot of animator fanart, he does get some good official art.

Now, I dunno how "official" the Starter Book really is. (I mean, it was sold at Comiket originally, so maybe it’s more in the “animator fanart” category, but at the same time, it is also a product kind of featured on the official Kill la Kill site, and, like, the SSSS. Gridman Starter Book was sold on Trigger’s online shop....)

But if you do consider the starter book to be official merchandise, then Sachiko Yajima's piece is not only my favorite in the collection but one of my favorite pieces of official Kill la Kill art, period.

The image is very simple; it's an illustration of Ryuko holding her bag behind her, smiling down at Senketsu. It’s nothing elaborate, but its sweetness means the world to me. With Kill la Kill’s fast pace, we rarely get those quiet moments where these two are just happy together.

And there’s more good stuff where that came from! Here are some more of my favorite pieces of official/semi-official Kill la Kill artwork that feature Senketsu!

1. Hug

2. Waving Goodbye

I love Ryuko's winking. Her hand covers Senketsu's right eye, she's closing her left... the symmetry....

And of course, I can't talk about favorite official Senketsu art without mentioning Akira Amemiya's "Senketsu's Date with Ryuko"! An illustration, two cards, a figure... this is one image they really want you to see. Kill la Kill is actually adorable.

4. Don’t Look...

Next up, I don't think I'd call this a "fave" exactly; it breaks my heart. But I appreciate (?) that Senketsu is acknowledged in the semi-official dakimakura.

Ryuko and Senketsu were drawn by Shota Iwasaki (tarou2), and Satsuki and Junketsu were drawn by Mai Yoneyama (yonema).

5. Shocked

On the same note, I could say similar things about these official mousepads found on Trigger's Kill la Kill site. Why is it that fanservice products pay more attention to Senketsu's character than a lot of discussion on the show? I cry.

6. Bath Time

And I’ve already talked up a storm about the bath figures, but to keep it short, let’s just say that I’m glad Senketsu is included because he wants to cover Ryuko and prevent any creeps from peeping on her. And also Synchronize with her so they can take out the creeps together. He is drinking all the Respect Women Juice.

7. Stickers!

But on the more adorable side, these stickers by Sushio! The artwork is from SUSHIO CLUB LOVE LOVE KLKL, which has tons of cute Kill la Kill content. Of all the stickers from the book sold in Trigger's shop, these are the only ones sold out....

8. Dressing Up

Another Sushio piece, Ryuko and Senketsu being fancy together! The art was done for an Aniplex display at AnimeJapan in 2014 and is also included in SUSHIO THE IDOL.

See that extra bit of red in Ryuko's hair? It implies they Synced to make that dress!

9. Bikini!Senketsu

I also totally headcanon that Senketsu can transform into other outfits, and the official manga adaptation with art by Ryo Akizuki (akizuki072) includes a snippet of Ryuko in bikini!Senketsu in the third volume! The full image (above) was posted on Twitter.

10. Nendoroid Love

This next one is more minor, but Sushio's art for this Kill la Kill Radio CD just gets to me. Ryuko's admiring her Nendoroid... which features her and Senketsu. She's like, "We look so good together, don't we, Sen?"

Idk, I think it's cute....

11. Into the Stars

And on the topic of CD art, the "ambiguous" and "Sirius" album art by Sushio are adorable! My photo isn't great, but I get so emotional at Ryuko and Senketsu flying up into the stars together. Nobody can keep up with them. They are on a whole 'nother level. So precious.

For this next one, a WonderGOO purchase bonus for the Kill la Kill game drawn by Kengo Saito (kengo1212), I know Senketsu is often ignored. But I was so happy to see him acknowledged and posing for a photo with his loved ones. So cute. I bought this bonus!

13. I Don’t Think He’s Her Dad...

For another poster, by Sushio (thank you for confirming, @dont-lose-your-edge!), I wouldn't say Senketsu is characterized exactly, but I think it's one of the most sensual pieces of official Kill la Kill art. It really makes the “Senketsu is/is like Ryuko’s dad” reading very implausible to me....

14. Best Box

Your character wasn’t an adventurer, what livelihood would they lead?

farmer! he’d just keep living the way he’d been living. it’s the sort of life he imagines he’ll return to one day, after he’s seen and done enough. ‘enough’ is a really arbitrary end goal though

Who in the party would your character trust the most with their life?

who in the party wouldn’t he trust with his life tbh. in the most literal sense he’d trust Eli with it just because he knows Eli can bring him back from dying in some stupid and ill-advised way

What are your character’s core moral beliefs?

frogs are good, try to be nice to people but if they’re mean to you first then at least a few bets are off, the rich should probably be eaten. killing is sometimes necessary but maybe try some other stuff first

What relationship does your character have with their parents and siblings?

he doesn’t have any siblings, and his relationship with his mom and recently present dad is. a little weird, and not all the way comfortable, and not like really bad, but just confusing? it’s confusing. at least he’s had more transparency from his mom recently than just about any other time. it’s a start

Does your character have any biases for or against certain races?

he trusts other tieflings a little quicker than other races but its not really saying much because he’s not smart and if you’re good at talking and sound like you know what you’re talking about he’ll just believe you. he doesn’t have the good sense to second think it without prompting

What is your character’s opinion on nobility? On authority?

so far just about every interaction with nobility has been messy or bad or scary or all three so right now the opinion is “not great”. also thats just too much money. whaddahell would you do with that much money. he’s generally uneasy with authority figures at best, and flat out paralyzed by them at worst. he’s easy to bully when he doesn’t have anyone backing him up and he knows and hates it

Describe your character’s current appearance: clothes, armor, scars they’ve picked up along the journey, etc.

he cycles through an assortment of sweaters but the one he wears the most is the heart sweater he got in Wunjo that’s been altered a few times in the last few months. he do keep collecting those scars tho, before starting adventuring he had a handful of minor scars just from working around the farm with the animals and the equipment and from romping around in the country. now he’s got all sorts, but the most prominent ones are: the thin scar on the left side of his face, starting just below the eyebrow and curving gently below his eye (the last time Leo would leave a mark on him); the twisted angry scars across his torso from being mauled by a giant undead horse(?); and the fluid, patterned necromancy scars slowly spreading across his back, creeping along inch by inch

What location encountered in the campaign has your character felt the most “at home” in, or just generally liked the most?

besides his own house, Roman’s house has been the nicest! its warm and theres soup and friends there. there was a run down little ranch house somewhere at some point, but he’s not so sure anymore that he didn’t just dream about fixing the place up with his best friend

What deity, if any, does your character worship? What’s their opinion on other people’s worship?

he doesn’t have a god he actively worships, but he’s peripherally aware of the god in the mountains that’s responsible for some of the most brutal storms in the region. he doesn’t care much about religion but hes got the same amount of concern most people would have about evil deities and what their followers do

If your character had time to pick up any artisan’s tools, game set, instrument, etc., what would it be?

probably woodworking! its handy, it’s useful for living out in the country where you have to either make the tools or furniture or fun items to put on a shelf you want, or go out of your way and also spend money to get them. maybe an actual alchemy set and/or poison kit but 1) playing with poison just a fun hobby for him and Xan to get into when they have the time and the plants for it, and 2) man he wouldnt follow the instruction manual anyway so whats the point

What aspect of your character’s future are they most curious about? (If they could know one thing about the future, what would it be?)

will his friends be okay? will he be okay? is there an FAQ for tieflings learning that they’re much closer to fiend lineage than they originally thought? that would be convenient and helpful. is john gonna figure out more about the little men named ‘adam’ that’re allegedly everywhere? if he could know one thing about the future, he’d like to know if everything will end out okay. if things will turn out as nice as he’d like them to.

What colors are associated with your character?

looks at the camera like im on the office

blue, white, and black are the big ones but im trying to pepper in a few other colors. reds and yellows are a close second

Who in the party would your character prioritize rescuing, in dire circumstances?

everyone sits squarely in the #1 spot on the rescue list

that aside john and roman are extremely high priority, they’re not the sturdiest and if something looked at them too hard they might keel over. baster and xan come next, he knows baster’s a shit brick house but he keeps seeing bad things happen to her and really hes just had Enough of it. eli’s a little lower priority because they can heal themselves if they’re in a tight spot, and then blu considers himself least concern. he knows he can get thrashed around some and still survive, he’d rather take a beating and know he’ll walk out of it than let someone else take it and wind up dead

Is your character the most swayed by ethos, pathos, or logos?

pathos, it’s easy to make him feel for u. legit any of them work though as long as you talk it up good enough he’ll believe you and if there aren’t any glaring conflicts between what you’re selling him and his base morals then it’s relatively easy to get him on board

If your character was granted a single use of Wish, what would they use it for?

idk probably something really simple that he put all of .5 of a second of thought into. hes not smart and doesnt have good foresight so he’d probably ask for a frog or smth unless there was something very much more pressing and present

What is your character’s favorite spell? If they don’t use spells: what is their favorite personal weapon/combat maneuver/skill/etc.?

favorite(?) spell is life transference. it hurts a bit but it keeps his friends safe so it’s worth it. invisibility is up there too, its fun and easy to steal from stores when ur not visible

How does your character feel about keeping secrets from the rest of the party?

he doesn’t like lying and also lies really poorly. he’s usually just honest from the get-go, its easier and feels better. if he has to lie its through omission, bold faced lies really just dont work

What type of creature in the world is your character the most intrigued by?

all sorts....bro the world is full of animals and lots of them like to be pet

When they were a child, what did your character want to be, or think they were going to be, when they grew up?

he thought he’d grow up and be a farmer like his mom, the adventuring thing was extremely unplanned and impromptu. he hoped he could be a kind and brave person though, the way Canna described his dad.

The player character to your left admits that they’re passionately in love with your character. How would your character respond?

random roll says it’s Roman, he’d probably laugh because the only reason that would happen is because the party is fooling around with potions again. Roman’s very married and very in love with his husband and makes sure everyone knows it all the time

If somebody (an NPC, someone from their backstory, etc.) your character trusts/loves asked your character to do something against the party’s best interest, who would they side with?

that doesn’t seem like a very viable circumstance, the only npc thats important enough that he’d listen to for something like that is his mom and she actively encourages him to take care of himself and his friends, and lets him make his own decisions about what he’s doing with his life, so

What unusual talents does your character possess?

idk if its all that unusual of a talent but he got really good at stealing and pickpocketing and he can do a sick flip. also does some black magic sometimes

What does your character’s name represent to them? (Or: why as a player did you choose your character’s name?)

it’s his name, u kno. bluebell is his middle name, but Canna called him bluebell growing up and he latched onto it a lot more than arden, and he thinks its a nice name, and a nice flower, and it sure would be nice if people would stop laughing when he introduces himself as “Blu”,

(blu was originally a stand-in name until i named him something else but it really grew on me and it fit him so! it didnt change, he just got other names too)

What major arcana tarot card best represents your character?

The Moon. 👀

What is your character’s relationship with magic? Are they scared of it, wish to know more about it, indifferent to it?

he’s def scared of magic sometimes, especially his own. he also really wants to understand it better though, and be less scared, or at least control it better. imo it’s a healthy fear, theres been lots of magic mishaps

How did your character learn the languages that they speak?

he learned common and infernal from mom! and he’s learning draconic from xan. it’s a nice downtime activity, sit down with ur best friend and homie and learn a new language just for fun

that is.... hibiki!!

oh hibiki.... the one kamen rider that managed to beat me.. after Akiria transformed for like 2 seconds i just closed the episode, I cant be bothered anymore. I dont want to watch something the writer (inoue) himself hates lol

anyways I’ll just review the first half n what I liked in the second half (if thats possible)

I love Asumu, I think it was a great idea to have such a young protag this time around, I know hibiki wasnt originally conceived as a kr but it’s refreshing to see something different after have the same 18-25 age range for a show aimed for kids. The things Asumu goes through, the fear of failure and the stress of having to decide at a young age the path for the rest of your life is something that happens to kids a lot!! And it sucks!! And the adults in hibiki even say so out loud how unfair this is!!!!!! HIBIKI IS SO GOOD!! I really enjoyed the shoplifter arc and how that really impacted Asumu through out the first half. Asumu was distraught of the violence/discourse people let out and someone like him, a nice kid, just cant even think to understand how people grow up to be like this and it fills him with unease. This revelation makes things worse when the shoplifter spots him one day and beats him up (this happens after Asumu is in high spirits and has grown significantly to which even his childhood friend Mochida notices and falls for him a but more lol), Asumu completely closes himself off emotionally and even blames himself... then in a hiking trip Hibiki brings him along and gives a great speech after they get caught in the rain (which Asumu thinks it’s his fault since he slipped) about loss, life and forces beyond personal control and how Asumu can take this negative energy and turn it into bettering himself and it’s just refreshing to see these themes completely grounded in reality and not in a theme of fighting monsters that are beyond normal human control. I also think having an older rider was such a good idea, the tiny droplets we got in kr w was enough for me to wish of this teacher/father dynamic.

aahhh Hibiki... I really loved this character, and the fact that we learn that he was just as indecisive as Asumu was when he was his age just makes his affection towards Asumu all the more believable. He doesnt live in regrets and it was due to his will to not be as indecisive as he once was and with the help of his bonds that he gained throughout his life he found the strength to become/train an oni.

also he has fantastic dad energy.

riders, fighting together and communicating with each other in my kamen rider? I didnt think so many riders were in this one, fantastic, even beyond the main cast, the lore was fun to learn about. Ibuki is a nerd, Todoroki is adorable, and Zanki is hot cool. The fact we see apprenticeships at different levels was cool too, Todoroki becoming a full fledged oni was one of my favorite episodes and Ibuki having an apprentice the same age as Asumu was cool too, Akiria is daughter level, I love that even she got a character introspection moment, she used to be cold and mean, but realizing that people still cared for her greatly like that she decided to be more open and appreciate the friends she didn’t know she wanted :) and she wants to change herself even more, for the sake of the ones she loves :’)

god i even forgot this boy! he wanted to be an oni but his parents forbid him and even if he couldn’t become one that wasnt framed as a failure in the show, he found another way to help people with his own skills and he seemed happy, he even gave Asumu advice... hibiki is so good.

look at this ratio of female to male characters. god. The Tachibana sisters were fun too, god this cast used it’s characters so well!!!!

he isnt even fun to make fun of like Nago and Nakamura doesnt look like he’s having fun like Murakami did in 555, honestly knowing Kiriya would have something to say at Akiria’s 2 second transformation I decided to drop Hibiki and go back to waiting for the new Kabuto blu ray releases LOL

TFA BLURR1: sexuality headcanon: i already headcanon transformers as an asexual species but even if i didn't i'd be slamming that asexuality headcanon button. i like to HC him as aromantic too if you missed my pride icon last month lol2: otp: thanks to the above i don't have one, but as for platonic OTPs... 3: brotp: blurr and wheelie for lyfe, man. i'd die for the found family trope and blurr basically adopting wheelie is like, one of my fav concepts ever. they've both got weird speech quirks, one's serious the others Literally A Goofy Child Who Speaks In Rhymes, they're blue and orange which are the best colors ever, and i love to think wheelie idolizes him and wants to join the elite guard some day to be like him. 4: notp: i feel like i'm gonna get at least One (1) mean message in my inbox about this but,,, i dont like blu///rr x shock/////wave At All oopsies. (no ill will nor hate to people that do though!! you do you!! ) i see people pulling the ITS ABOUT THE CONES IMPLICATIONS card sometimes and that's about as close as i've ever gotten to understanding how or why this is a thing. i also recently discovered that romantic blu//rr x whee//lie is a thing and that made me want to Die, i know the lines blur with robots and different concepts of age and what not but wheelie is literally canonically referred to as a child even by cybertronian standards and blurr definitely Is Not, THAT’S GROSS FAM AND FOR THIS ONE I’M NOT SORRY FOR SAYING IT LOL5: first headcanon that pops into my head: (this just reminded me i have a whole LIST of blurr headcanons i dont think i never posted, oopsies) he LOVES having his nose in other people's business, he wants to know Everything about Everyone and he's got dirt on basically everybody. thing is he's a master of keeping secrets despite his motormouth, so even when Fellow Gossips try to get info out of him he doesn't crack. he knows all, but shares nothing. 6: favorite line from this character: well, he's got less than 13 minutes of screentime total, and not a whole lot of what I guess I'd call memorable dialogue, but you never get tired of seeing him transform for the first time and hearing him snap FIRST OF ALL, THE NAME'S NOT “Z I P P Y . . .”7: one way in which I relate to this character: now i'm probably just projecting, but he gives me the vibe that he's got some crazy problems with ADHD. it's probably the whole "talks fast goes on tangents constantly and probably doesn't have a single thought without immediately verbalizing it" thing but I Feel That. 8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character: i've made a post about this before but it's the fact that his boss, longarm, has a similar aesthetic and voice to known decepticon shockwave, and he... didn't put two and two together. like shockwave and longarm being one and the same is really obvious if you put more than two seconds of thought into it, blurr is a highly skilled and capable agent who worked under longarm for spark knows how long, and he just. "HMM LETS DO A VOICE PRINT MATCH THAT'LL SOLVE WHO THE TRAITOR IS I DEFINITELY CAN'T FIGURE THIS OUT ALL ON MY OWN NNNOPE" 9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? um total and absolute cinnamon roll??

and... y'mean like, Auto? my auto? camera boy? unusual but definitely allowed and Very Appreciated!!

obligatory reminder that these are just opinions and you’re free to disagree with them, i speak only for myself and subjectivity is implied!

unpopular opinion #1: i don't understand why people love the asteroid senshi so much. they're really weird, dont make sense from a lore perspective (#naoko), and barely get to do anything. also, their hairstyles are just too ridiculous for me

unpopular opinion #2: most of the art updates to the 2005 edition of the manga were unnecessary and weird. specially when naoko would redraw characters' faces to be more cutesy. in general i think her older art is better than her newer style, i like the classic feeling

unpopular opinion #3: when people say they hate the eternal fuku's bubble sleeves i assume they're talking about the 1992 anime's super absurd take on them. the MANGA's eternal sleeves, where the bubble is MUCH smaller, were perfectly fine and MUCH better, but it’s easy to miss this fact!

unpopular opinion #4: i like helios bc he's an interesting character that had a lot of potential... he just wasnt executed that well (especially in superS)

unpopular opinion #5: sailor moon R is bad. black moon arc is better, but still pretty bad. black lady is a silly character. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

unpopular opinion #7: sailor stars isn't bad in the same way R/black moon is, but it's NOWHERE NEAR the best season. too much wheel-spinning w/ starlights to try to recapture the outers dynamic from S. i'd put it squarely in the middle. (classic > S > stars > R > supers)

unpopular opinion #8: the 1992 anime is a better adaption of the sailor V manga than it is of the sailor moon manga. you can totally see how sailor V is what was used to pitch the show idea to toei - the tone of the anime matches the tone of the V manga MUCH more

unpopular opinion #9: mercury and neptune's powers make sense and don't overlap. (fresh water/ice vs. salt water/oceans)

unpopular opinion #20: censoring a gay romance by making zoisite female was homophobic and awful, but i’m not against the idea of one of the shitennou being female. when i watched the dic dub as a kid, female!zoi helped round out the female cast and make them even more diverse

unpopular opinion #22: once the blu-ray edition of crystal came out and fixed the really off-model parts, there was no longer anything objectionable about the animation, especially if you compare it to the cheap and often shoddy animation of the 1992 anime. most people who still dont like it are just salty about the character designs 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

unpopular opinion #23: ikuko itoh’s style of drawing the characters wasn’t the best. they became very lanky and too doe-eyed, delicate, “precious moments” styled. the best animator/designer from the original anime is kazuko tadano

unpopular opinion #24: most of the flaws of the manga can be attributed to it not being long enough & naoko being worked to death

unpopular opinion #25: the filler in season 1 is great, but the filler in all seasons after that was excessive, bad, and brought down the show

lol no one cares blu/e straight up cheated on adam and then yelled at him for not telling her he's being abused and is never,, called out by the narrative or apologizes for ANYthing how to bl/uesy have stans

ive ummed and ahhed about answering this honestly because a) i dont wanna start shit b) i definitely dont feel comfortable shitting on a ship people enjoy if they like it they like it and its no ones place to take that enjoyment away c) the point of my post was not to demonise blue because she is a teenager and hey teenagers do dumb things so my issue isnt necessarily with what she did. but, as you say, yes she does these things and its never called out and that’s yikes, as is her having a go at adam about him not treating her like a friend when the reasons she gives are at the very best dubious as hell and at the worst victim blaming to a degree and just really such horrible things to throw in someones face, and that she accuses him of being a terrible friend knowing she’s made out with noah behind his back. adam is in a really bad place (and is at that point where he thinks he’s unknowable and shouldnt have friends so yay for telling him he’s a bad friend for non-existent reasons loool) when this all happens and she never apologises and ok she thinks later ‘oh i should have handled that better’ but she doesnt tell adam that and narratively it just goes away. and my real issue lies in that her mistakes are just brushed aside with an oh well, teenagers, give her a break, but comparatively adam’s never are!!!! he’s constantly called out by fandom, and in the narrative. like jesus fuck he’s going through the WORST time in his life in tdt with no support from anyone, no real understanding or sympathy, he’s so fucking traumatised, and hey on top of that, he’s a teenager just as blue is.

so why does that get her a free pass but not adam? why doesn’t she get called out by fandom or by the narrative and have to apologise for her mistakes? and this really applies to every character - ronan and gansey don’t get called out by the narrative or fandom in the same way either. it’s almost laughable because poor adam spent his life apologising for being alive (as he’s so pleasantly reminded in trb ugh) and guess what??? he still fucking has to. i say almost laughable because actually it makes me want to cry. i love him so much he without doubt has the most growth through the four books he learns so much he’s such a good friend he loves his friends so much he’d do anything for them and so much of the fandom can’t see it and say shit like adam is so awful in tdt (when he’s at his most traumatised lmaooooo) or he's got too much pride it's annoying/mean to gansey loool or reduce him to a boy who is mad because blue wont kiss him (which is such crap it’s not about a kiss or blue at all like i dont know how to explain it to you if you dont know that when we read the same frigging books) and demonise him because he gets angry twice when he’s struggling to get a hold of his trauma and grief and emotions. and im not saying it was fine to lose his temper like he did with blue but he knew it wasn’t ok and he actively worked to be able to not lose his temper, he has one more incident with gansey and then doesn’t ever lose his temper again - and no, im not counting that wall thing and im not going to bother to explain why. and furthermore, whilst its not ok to direct his anger at someone, adam is allowed to get angry!! why shouldn’t he be angry??? he’s got so much shit on his shoulders that any of us would get angry about!! all of them get angry through the books, especially ronan, and that’s fine, they’re allowed their emotions by the narrative and fandom, but when adam feels anger its because he’s his dad and is inherently monstrous or violent. its crap!! and also such a dangerous stereotype to throw out about abuse victims but god that’s another rant.

ANYWAYS what a long tangent to say that my issue isn’t necessarily with what blue did teenagers do dumb shit but that she never gets called out for it its always shes a kid shes never done anything wrong etc etc, but then adam just has to breathe and he’s being ripped apart.
