NIGHTMARE KAI-ME OFFICIAL LINEUP!

“LOOK WHAT HAPPENS, NIGHTMARE TI KAIME!”

Summary: A 10 part/episode miniseries revolving around Kai’s misadventures in Hatchetfield! Follow Kai’s goofy hijinks as she deals with everything from robots to cat loving kidnappers! Some episodes are based off of episodes from Team Starkid’s series “Nightmare Time” and some episodes are original works by yours truly (with prompts/plot outlines by @local-soda-can)!

SEASON ONE, EPISODE ONE - Hey, Melissa!

Summary: Kai gets involved in a very bizarre adventure with her father’s bubbly coworker, Melissa. KAI GETS CATGIRL’D LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO

SEASON ONE, EPISODE TWO - The Waylon Squatter

“we’ll meet again - vera lynn”

Episode Type: Non Canon

Summary: Peter Spankoffski and Stephanie Lauter decide to break head into the Waylon to make hang out. Their plans are interrupted by Grace Chasity, who decides to tag along on their little adventure, much to their dismay. The three are informed of the rumors of the Waylon being haunted by various ghosts, one of which being the ghost of a young homeless girl who hid in the Waylon in hopes of shelter, but was driven insane by what went on inside the walls. She now stalks the halls, singing a beautiful, yet haunting melody, now dubbed ‘The Waylon Squatter’. The trio brushes off the rumors as just that and sets off to disprove them. Their adventure takes a turn for the worse as they come face to face with a very real Waylon Squatter, who doesn’t take well to strangers in her territory. The trio now has to try and survive while uncovering the mystery behind The Waylon Squatter’s past.

SEASON ONE, EPISODE THREE - Forever And Always

Summary: Paul Matthews and Emma Perkins are finally getting hitched, and their adoptive daughter, Kai Drew, is happy to join them on the ride! However, when secrets arise from Emma's past, the happy family's lives are turned upside down as the couple is forced to confront their skeletons in their closets, and Kai is forced to choose between the family she thought she knew or the truth.

SEASON ONE, EPISODE FOUR - Revised Reprise

Summary: Paul and Emma love Kai! Of course they do, she’s been living with them for a while now, she’s practically their daughter! But, they realize something: they don’t really know much about Kai’s past, other than she lived in a town called Unington with her parents and friends. Everything else is a mystery to them. So, what do they do? Ask the source, of course! Kai is hesitant to share the details of her past, as her life has been full of tragedies and hardship. With enough convincing, Kai starts to think back to her past. While doing this, she stumbles upon something strange: she can’t quite remember what traumatic events happened to her. And the things she can remember? They’ve been twisted and turned into a more romanticized version of events, along with an entirely new person added into her memories. Confused and determined to get to the bottom of this, Kai heads back to her hometown to figure out why her memories were rewritten and who was behind it.

SEASON ONE, EPISODE FIVE - Watcher World

Summary: Kai is invited to spend the day with her Uncle Bill and his daughter, Alice, for some “family bonding time” at Watcher World, an older amusement park located on the edge of Hatchetfield. But, of course, Kai can never catch a break, as her fun turns to fear when she realizes there’s more to the park than meets the eye.

SEASON ONE, EPISODE SIX - Miss Ingénue

Summary: Kai loves living in Hatchetfield! She’s got some awesome parents that she loves a lot, and most of everyone is half decent towards her. Recently, however, things have been a bit…odd. Paul and Emma have been strangely overprotective of her, barely allowing her room to breathe. Plus, whenever she goes out alone, she can’t help but feel like she’s being watched by thousands of eyes, and not in a good way. Watch as Kai tries to get to the bottom of the strange happenings that are occurring to her.

SEASON ONE, EPISODE SEVEN - Abstinence Camp

“virginity rocks - original starkid cast of nightmare time 2”

Episode Type: Canon

Summary: Kai is forced to go to Hatchetfield’s very own Abstinence Camp by Paul when she offhandedly mentions she kinda, sorta, peggedaman lost her virginity and he freaks. Despite her protests and repeated reassurances of the fact that she is asexual, she gets sent to the camp. And as trouble follows Kai everywhere and refuses to lay off her, she learns of a dark secret, one that stalks the camp, lurking in the shadows. One that punishes the horny and troublemaking teens of the camp that refuse to abstain. One that carries an axe.

SEASON ONE, EPISODE EIGHT - Food For Thought

Episode Type: Non Canon

Summary: All your worst nightmares have come true: Kai has entered the work force! That’s right, Miss Drew now has a job at Hatchetfield’s very own Miss Retro’s! Kai’s extremely thankful for the job, as it allows her to do one of her only comforts left: cooking for others! Kai’s BANGIN cooking skills begin to attract attention, and the diner gets a lot of traction! However, cooking takes a turn for the worse, as Kai begins to get plagued with horrific and grotesque visions of her friends and family as she cooks. Panicked and overwhelmed by the visions, Kai is forced out of the kitchen and onto the diner floor, taking orders and bringing customers their food. But when a mysterious customer enters the diner and requests Kai to cook their meals, Kai is forced back into the kitchen. The food ordered is strangely familiar to her, and Kai’s suspicions start to grow as she wonders who the customer is, and what they want with her.

SEASON ONE, EPISODE NINE - Web Of Lies

Episode Type: Non Canon

Summary: Kai has won. Finally, after years of searching, Kai has found a timeline where nothing bad happens. She’s finally able to have that happy family she so desperately wants! But, nothing lasts forever. She soon is plagued by visions of other timelines. With her deduction skills, she soon concludes that something or someone is messing with her, and she has a pretty good idea of who. She confronts them, and she thinks her problems are over. Soon, however, things start to spiral out of control. Also, does anyone mind telling Kai what the heck a Webby is?!

SEASON ONE, EPISODE TEN - Space Drifter

Summary: Kai’s habit of running from her problems finally catches up to her.

Lucia

- his outfit is fancier because he is a king

- the cufflinks and brooches are green and blue to represent his bros :’)

Kaim

- all I wanted to get rid of was his blue tie

- wears that garter because I hc he takes over some of Oswald’s black ops work after MC asked him to stop

- fancier because he is the king’s head butler

Levy

- Lucia’s trusted general

- really not much to say, but this design is one of my favs

Mikael

- I added a bit of accessories to show he is a bit more carefree and chill?

- ehhh not 100% satisfied, doesn’t give a “Noel” vibe imo

- btw the design of that wrap w/ the golden details is meant to match Oswald’s bc they reconciled :’)

- I didn’t have too much of a problem w/ his original design

- the royal gardener but also practical for black ops missions

Nightmare

Thud Thud Thud

His footsteps were slow, deliberate. He was in a castle he didn’t recognize, the screams of battle surrounding him. It was a familiar scene, one that had haunted his nights since his first battle. But this was different.

He’d never been to this kingdom before. The knights all looked unfamiliar to him. Steal clashed in new, unknown rhythms. Screams echoed off the walls. Blood dripping across the stone, the rain carrying it across the ground like paint on a canvas.

He couldn’t stop himself from moving further and further into the castle, turning a corner up the stairs. Though he had no idea what was happening, he felt calm. Every step as familiar as breathing. He was almost there, his goal was only a few steps away.

“You Monster!!!” A man screamed, raising his sword to attack, but with one swift motion, he lifted his sword with one hand and slashed at the man’s exposed stomach, killing him in an instant.

“Hasn’t the crown prince escaped yet?!” A voice yelled distantly. Ah, so that’s where he needed to go.

“It’s not that simple! The princes are too young to flee swiftly!”

Thud Thud Thud

His steps echoed off the all but abandoned palace steps. As he rounded the corner he detachedly stared down the small group of knights standing at the crown prince’s tower door. It was sad really, a waste of life. But he knew that these men would give up at nothing to protect their crown. It was commendable, but as long as they stood in his way, they would need to be disposed of quickly.

They moved swiftly as one, strong in numbers and will, but not strong enough. He made quick work of each of the knights, each body falling to the ground in mass. But there was one soldier that caught his eye.

He’d know those eyes anywhere. Why was she fighting him, why was she disguised as another kingdom’s royal guard—did she cut her hair—why was she trying to kill him?!

He tried to stop himself, but he couldn’t force himself to get away. He felt like a puppet.

As she moved to stab at him, he blocked the blow, shattering her blade. In her shock he moved to stab her in the eye.

NO!

But she was pushed aside by another knight just in time. He hated how relieved he felt to have killed a different person. But it wasn’t the end of the battle. He moved to strike her just as she did him in the same way she had done in their first spar. She landed only a scratch at his cheek, but he…he had stabbed her through the heart.

NO! NO!!! What had he done? …What had he done?!

He watched as she coughed up blood, and died with his sword still implanted in her heart. And all he could do was watch as the life left her eyes, never to return again.

Arnold sat up in a cold sweat, gasping for air. He looked down at his hands, he wasn't wearing gloves, but he could still smell the blood in the air.

“Rishe,” he breathed. Where was she, had he killed her after all?!

“Your Highness…”

Like lightning he had turned towards the airy voice laying beside him. Her emerald eyes were cracked open only an inch, but open they were.

He let his hand move to stroke her hair, but he pulled back before he could. How could he even think of touching her when he had dreamed of killing her with the same hands. A cool hand wrapped around his wrist, pulling him from his thoughts.

“You had another nightmare, didn’t you,” she mumbled sleepily. Even in the depths of slumber she had the perception of a hawk.

“It was nothing, go back to sleep,” he evaded, hoping it would be enough. But he should have known better after all this time.

Instead of replying verbally, she sat up and wrapped her arms around his neck, her body flush against his. “I’m sorry your highness. Please rest easy in my arms. I’ll protect your body and mind for as long as I am able to.” She vowed, her voice filled with finality that he simply could not refute.

“Okay,” he agreed calmly, leaning his head against hers. He soaked in the comforting silence, taking in the warmth of her body that meant she was still alive. He hadn’t killed her. It was just a dream.

Tap Tap Tap

He found solace in the gentle tapping of her hand against his back. The reminder of a heartbeat, of life. The only thing that tethered him to reality.

Slowly, with hesitant hands, he wrapped his arms around her in return. He would protect her, he wouldn’t let anyone touch her. He would keep her safe, even from himself.

A bit annoyed at how close you are to your friend, not exactly at you, but he never had that type of bond with someone and it confuses him

Lowkey believes your friend has feelings for you, but he won't say a thing at first

But if he sees you two talking, he might put his arm around you just to make things clear

He's just a bit jealous

Your friend is unfazed

I'm going to be honest, this might cause an arguement between you two.

Well not exactly cause the arguement, but he will definitely bring it up during it.

You have to remind him that you're dating him and not your friend.

And that you're friend is like a sibling to you since you two pratically grew up together. Nothing else.

That will snap him out of his jealousy and he will probably be embarassed of not being more mature about his own insecurities

It'll take him a few weeks, but he will slowly warm up to your friend

Frow then on, he treats your best friend as HIS best friend.

Yes you're clearly third-wheeling their bromance at one point

Doesn't like it.

He won't tell you anything because he's too closed off to try to talk about his feelings

And he's lowkey nervous that you will realise you found someone better.

He feels the same jealousy that he feels about Lucia when they get compared

Absolutely hates it. He feels like he's replaceable and it stings.

He wants to be your best friend too

If you talk about your friend, he will get snappy and eventually he will try to avoid the topic altogether

And then avoids you

He doesn't know how to process his own feelings and does what he does best : pushing people away.

You will have to corner him and ask what's wrong and he will probably break down right there

At first, he sounds angry, but as he starts to tear up you can clearly see that it's not that.

He's not upset about your friend being close to you or anything

He's just feeling like he's living again all the moments where he was compared to his older brother and seen as a place holder for him

You will need to calm him down and reassure him that it's not the case

After that, he will become somewhat friendly with your friend, but he won't seek their contact either. He's just not a very social person

And he learns to open up more about his feelings to you

Doesn't really care nor mind it at first.

So what if you have a friend? As long as they aren't as annoying as his brothers it's fine.

The start of the problem comes from your friend.

Let's be honest, your friend probably don't trust him AT ALL and he can feel it when they talk to him

He knows it's a deserved feeling, but he's still annoyed by them anyway.

He probably makes condescending remarks to them when they bring up any of their doubts or suspicions about him.

Mefy will probably try to manipulate you into ditching your friend or into taking his side about the oncurring arguement.

Of course, knowing very well his tactics by now, you see right through him and it quickly escalates into an arguement.

He tries to play innocent and you will have to bring some sense into his head

He probably started to revert back to his old personality and once he realises he goes quiet in a blink.

It will take him time to form his words correctly and then he will give you an apology

He won't start to be nice to your friend after that, but you can see that the jabs he says to them are no longer mean-spirited and instead simply teasing or playful

Probably the most mature out of all the characters.

He's happy that you have someone to rely on and doesn't mind one bit that you two have such a close relationship

Kaim isn't a fan of strangers, but for you he would love to meet your friend

If he enjoys their presence he will simply tell you that you have a nice friend

If he finds them rude or doesn't enjoy spending time with them, he will tell you that he would rather spend alone time with you next time.

He's really upfront about his opinion of your friend, but will never try to persuade you to stop hanging out with them or even insult them

If they make you happy, then it's not his business

Of course, if he ever wishes to spend more alone time with you or has doubts about your friend's potential feelings for you, he will be direct but tactful about it

He won't make any assumptions, but if he has questions he won't hesitate to ask them

Overall, he's pretty chill about it and if there's any issues he won't hide them.

It becomes painfully obvious what was the issue when you see his comportement around your friend.

You will have to ask him to explain how he's feeling and why

It'll be hard and he will search his words, but once he does, he firmly states his problem.

Please reassure him, Noel has big abandonment issues and he would break if you were to leave him.

He will understand that his actions were not ok when you explain to him that you did not like his comportement and he will apologise for making you upset

He will probably take some herbs to give your friend next time he sees them as an apology gift

It was a peaceful Saturday morning, and you found yourself lost in a tune as you diligently scrubbed away at the dirty dishes. A sudden movement caught your attention. You turned your head to see a familiar-looking boy with pink hair entering the room. “Good mor–” Before you had the chance to greet him, he hushed and ran closer to you. “Y/N, have you seen Master Kaim?” Kurt asked, glancing around the room, searching for any sign of Kaim’s presence.

“I haven’t seen him, why?” You asked, cocking your head as you placed the wet dishes on the shelf. Kurt breathed a sigh of relief and let out a mischievous giggle. You giggled and couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement. You knew Kurt well enough to know that he always had something up his sleeve. “Let’s prank him!” Kurt said, his lips curving into a bright smile. You widened your eyes slightly.

“Prank him? What kind of prank?” The idea of pranking your strict boyfriend may seem like a fun and exciting challenge. Today being the weekend, the majority of people in the estate do not have a significant amount of work to attend to. Perhaps engaging in a bit of mischief with Kurt could be an enjoyable means of passing the time, especially if the target happens to be Kaim.

“Master Kaim gave me a hard time for eating too many sweets. I need to get him back with a prank!” said Kurt as his lips formed a pout, giving him an adorable expression. You scratched your neck and let out a nervous laugh. Kurt took a deep breath and began to explain the prank to you. There was a hint of hesitation on your part, as you were a little worried about Kaim’s reaction “Kurt, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but pretending to be kidnapped by someone is not considered a good prank,”

“What if I faked running away from the estate because Kaim was always yelling at me? Would that be cool, Y/N?” Kurt asked, his innocent gaze fixed on you. He seemed unaware of the fact that his suggestion might be a bit too intense.

Kurt noticed the scepticism in your face and said, “Don’t worry about it, Y/N. Kaim wouldn’t be mad at you. You are his lover, so…” Kurt’s face lit up with a wide grin, like a child who had just received his candy.

“I’m pretty sure you’ve always seen Kaim scold me, but whatever. I’ll join you,” A chuckled escaped your lips as you saw Kurt’s happy expression upon your agreement to participate in his ‘prank’.

An hour later, Kurt decided to hide in the garden while you searching for Kaim. You eventually located him after ten minutes while he looked over his task list in his notepad. When you approached him, you couldn’t help but notice the sour expression on his face. You cursed silently to yourself, already anticipating the unavoidable lecture that was sure to follow.

“Hi, Kaim. Is something wrong?” You tilted your head and locked eyes with Kaim, trying to act as normally as possible. “Where is Kurt? He hasn’t completed a single task for today, and no one has been able to find him,” Kaim massaged his forehead while expressing frustration.

“Well, did you do something to him that made him hiding from everyone else?” You asked, hiding the shakiness of your voice. Kaim’s eyebrows furrowed as he gazed at you. He pondered over what he might have done to Kurt that caused him to ‘vanish’ suddenly. In a sudden moment of realization, his gaze shifted back towards you, but this time, his expression was one of suspicion.

“Hey, are you trying to say something?” As Kaim noticed the worried expression on your face, he proceeded to ask further about Kurt. “Maybe he ran away from the estate because you scold him about snacking on candy,”

“Y/N, whenever Oswald and I went grocery shopping, he always spent a significant amount of money on sweets. We shopped for supplies three times per week,”

“Yeah, but he’s just a kid, Kaim. What if he got snatched up by some random people?” You asked in a worried tone, almost like a mother.

“Hm, I am quite certain that the kidnapper would return him to the estate,” Kaim expressed his disbelief. Suddenly Kaim paused for a moment and said, “Wait, did you know about him running away, yet you didn’t stop him?”

“No,” You replied, attempting to act natural. However, your response only seemed to heighten Kaim’s suspicion towards you.

“You do know if you lied to me, you’ll get in so much trouble, Y/N.” Kaim’s crossed as he spoke with a firm tone. As you met Kaim’s gaze, a shiver ran down your spine. You bit your lip, unsure of what to say next. To be fair, you knew deep down that you were a terrible liar.

“If you are honest with me, I won’t punish you as severely as I give out to Kurt,” He warned in a stern voice. Her eyes widened in surprised. Sometimes, even a small mistake could result in an enormous amount of work as punishment from Kaim. One can only imagine what kind of punishment would be given if he found out that you were involved in the prank.

“Kurt is hiding in the garden!” You blurted out. Kaim let out a deep sigh and closed his eyes in frustration. He rubbed his temples, trying to ease the tension in his head.

“You– urgh. Let’s go to the garden,” Kaim marched away, his legs carrying him towards the garden. You ran behind him, hoping that Kurt wouldn’t receive a harsh scolding.

“It was just a prank,” You muttered slowly. Kaim slowly turned his head to face you, his expression one of utter disbelief. “That’s not a prank. What were you and Kurt thinki– you know what? I’m not that surprised that you would even think this is a prank.” You felt hurt by Kaim’s words. But he was partially correct. You and Kurt did have a tendency to cause confusion amongst the people of the estate.

As you and Kaim made your way into the garden, you scanned the area for any sign of Kurt. But, he was nowhere to be found. You and Kaim searched for him tirelessly, calling out his name in the hopes that he would hear both of you. Despite your efforts, he was never found. When you saw a shoe on the floor, the color left your face and you looked pale as a ghost. The shoe belonged to Kurt. “Kaim, this is Kurt’s shoe, right?”

Kaim ignored your question and said, “Y/N, stop playing. Is this also one of your tricks?” Kaim cast a suspicious glance at you. You shook your head, and said firmly, “No! I swear it’s not!” You repeated, looking directly at Kaim in front of you.

“Then, where is Kurt?” He asked, looking around the garden. “Perhaps, we should ask Oswald,” said Kaim. With a nod, you scanned the area for any sign of Oswald. Once you spotted him, you and Kaim made your way over and asked the question about Kurt. Oswald shook his head in response, indicating that he had not seen Kurt. The two of you were now in a state of panic.

Oswald made his way through the halls of the estate, looking for other servants to help him with searching for the missing Kurt. He knew that he couldn’t do everything on his own. Suddenly, Lucia, with a curious expression on his face, asked about the sudden chaos that had erupted in the estate. “Y/N, what’s wrong?”

“Kurt is missing!” In a panic tone, you replied to Lucia’s question. Lucia tilted his head and turned his room, looking at Kurt giggling to himself while munching on sweets and sipping chocolate milk.

“KURT!” As soon as you laid eyes on Kurt, who was sitting cheerfully in Lucia’s bedroom, you yelled his name. In a fit of anger, you stormed into Lucia’s room and pinched Kurt’s ears. Kaim heard a scream and quickly dashed into Lucia’s room. He let out a sigh upon entering and asked in a concerned voice. “What are you doing, Kurt?”

The pinch on Kurt’s ears intensified, a sharp cry of pain escaped his lips, echoing through the room. As soon as you released his ears, he pouted and his expression turned into a frown. “You took too long, so I went inside Master Lucia’s room and ate candies with him.”

Lucia grinned mischievously as he patted Kurt’s head. “Haha, poor Kaim and Y/N. They are worried about you,”

“Of course Lucia would think this situation is funny,” A heavy sigh escaped your lips as you brought your hand up to your forehead, hitting it in frustration.

Lucia observed the two of you before remarked, “You looked like parents who had their child missing,”

“Our child won’t behave like Kurt!” said Kaim. You felt a sudden rush of emotions that left you flustered. Lucia, having noticed this, began to tease you even more. “In any case, Y/N and Kurt will be punished tomorrow,” Kaim continued in a stern voice. Yours and Kurt’s eyes widened in fear of the coming punishment.

“No excuses,” Kaim said as he exited the room. You shifted your gaze towards Kurt, and a deep sigh escaped your lips, causing a soft giggle from Lucia. As you reflected on the situation, you couldn’t help but think that the outcome was a direct result of your attempt at a playful ‘prank’ on your boyfriend.
