This new Interpretation of Medusa in the new episode of Percy jackson, as a survivor of abuse that directs her pain, because of missing justice, against people that she associates with her abusers, shows not only how much Rick Riordan has grown as a storyteller and interpreter of mythology but also how much we as a community have grown in interpreting and understanding the deeper meaning of mythological storys and the context they were made in.

With the resurgence of PJO content: let me share my favorite story about the series.
When I was in high school I had a Mythology teacher (mr. S) who HATED the Disney Hercules. Said it was the dumbest adaptation and was nowhere NEAR accurate to the source material. He despised it.
So of course we brought up Percy Jackson and (after explaining the plot to him) he looked at us and went:
"So this all happens because 3 gods made a chastity truce and we're surprised when it failed? That's Greek. "
So Mr. S approves of Percy Jackson 👍
