"Great, one of our clients sent us a thank you gift," he murmurs, reaching into the mini fridge that sits beside his desk, and pulling out the cutest little tray of strawberries, "but they sent way too much. Would you like some?"

Your fingers twitch, eyes carefully assessing the plump fruit, mouth watering at the beautiful sight of them.

"You're sure it's okay?" You ask, meeting his eyes.

William nods, extending the little box to you. You reach out to cup the tray between both hands.

"They sent about five of these, you can have the entire thing if you'd like."

"Thank you, Mister Russo." You say happily as the little tray rests in your hands.

"No, wait, one condition." He says, you look up at him in surprise.

"Call me Billy? Please?"

It takes you a moment, eyes flitting between the strawberries and his handsome face.

"Okay, Billy."

The smile you share is something... more. You feel a connection, trace its way down your spine, something like friendship blooming between you.

"Would you like one?" You offer, extending the tray to him after picking up a pretty one for yourself.

He nods, reaching for a strawberry of his own.

You bring the strawberry to your nose first, breathing in the delicious scent, before pressing the cool fruit to your lips.

The delicious tangy juice spills into your mouth, you try your hardest to mask your sound of appreciation.

The fruit is delicious, smells sweeter than it actually is, your mouth flooding with the taste of it, letting the juice trickle down your throat.

You glance up at him, worried that he's staring at you, but he's not, looking out of the window instead, as he brings the fruit to his mouth.

Some of the juice spills onto his fingers, and you feel your body pull taut as he sucks the tips of his middle and index fingers into his mouth.

7. Simi | Sebastian Vettel/Kimi Räikkönen [Formula 1]

I would like to apologise to all of my Simi fan followers for this. 😃

I love Simi, they're my comfort pairing when it comes to reading (and writing) but to be honest I prefer ships that are still active, have new content etc. and not only old pictures, videos etc. So yeah, this is the reason why they're seventh for me.

6. Galex | George Russell/Alex Albon [Formula 1]

I don't really know what to add to this. I just like them. ❤ (Also, for me they're the most difficult to write because they have a personality that's (for me) very difficult to portray right.)

Also, funfact, I don't really like the popular Galex fanfics. This is the ship where I prefer the reality and my imagination, and not the fanfics.

5. Dando | Daniel Ricciardo/Lando Norris [Formula 1]

Dando was THE hurt/comfort ship for me last season. This photo of them is in my top3 favorite Formula 1 related photos.

I have a very strange relationship with Lando but I loved them together. ❤

4. Sam/Mitch | Sam Bird/Mitch Evans [Formula E]

Do I need to add more? I don't think so. Cock hug and lovely lifting is all I neeed. They were insane for this. ❤

4. Carlando | Carlos Sainz Jr./Lando Norris [Formula 1]

Again, can't really add anything, I just like them. I like a lot of ships, I don't have any rules like if I like Carlando then I don't like any other Carlos and Lando ships. I'm here for the comfort, it doesn't really matter which ship gives it to me. Also, I'm kinda open to polyamory so shipping for me is a bit different than to others. 😃

So yeah, they're cute, I like them.

3. JEV/André/Sam | Jean-Éric Vergne/André Lotterer/Sam Bird

I don't even have a pic of all of them together (and I can only put ten in one post) but I read a story or two with them being in an open or polyamorous relationship and I really liked them. I have a feeling that Jeandré is the ship that is perfectly ideal to transform into a triad because I think they can be mature enough to communicate well and manage the relationship well.

3. Riccussell | Daniel Ricciardo/George Russell [Formula 1]

I love Daniel and I love George, so this ship is perfect for me. ❤ George's support to Daniel last year was everything to me. They're my special little ship. 🥺❤

2. Maximilian/James | Maximilian Günther/James Rossiter [Formula E]

When I joined the FE fandom and Maximilian became my chosen one, I was kind of surprised that there wasn't really any Maximilian ships. And then somehow Maximilian and James became a thing and GUYS the stories on Ao3. The stories. Oh my god. They're AMAZING. Like truly amazing. I don't really like to read long single chapter stories (over 5K is long for me, 15K is my limit, I don't really read longer ones if they're in one piece) but I love reading those Maximilian and James stories because it's amazing how well those authors can capture their personality. Sometimes I'm a bit jealous because I still don't know enough about the FE drivers' personalities to write about them (yes, I'm too lazy to watch the documentaries and things like that). So yeah, shoutout to the Maximilian/James authors on Ao3, you're doing God's work, guys! ❤

2. Charlos | Carlos Sainz Jr/Charles Leclerc [Formula 1]

The heart eyes. The "baby"s. The touches. The jokes. The "violence". They're everything. They've grown on me and I think about them a lot and I don't know what I'll do when they won't be teammates anymore. They're so perfect together. Another emotional hurt/comfort ship. The pain is almost always there, I don't have to introduce Ferrari to you, so yeah, hugs and cuddles and comfort and understanding and everything. And love. ❤

1. Jeandré | Jean-Éric Vergne/André Lotterer

The husbands (my original husbands were Vandevries | Nyck de Vries/Stoffel Vandoorne but I couldn't really fit them here but still wanted to mention them because they're special to me as they were the ones I wrote my first English story about). They're so funny and perfect together, another comfort ship like almost all the others. 😂 I love how close they're to each other. ❤

1. Maxiel | Max Verstappen/Daniel Ricciardo [Formula 1]

Okay, so, Maxiel is my number one, the order of the list can change every hour but Maxiel will always be my number one. They were the ones that make me fall in love with Formula 1. Max's past and his relationship with Daniel is also a really good hurt/comfort material to fanfics and exactly this is what I look for in fanfics in this fandom.

I wanted to be a Maxiel author for so long but for some reason I still only have a zine that is Maxiel, but I have some Maxiel stories planned, I'm just really slow writing them because it's usually easier to write for the prompts I get and sadly I don't really get Maxiel prompts so my Maxiel stories are only in my head for now. :(

But yeah, I have one/two very specific Maxiel ideas and I hope one day I'll be able to write and post them.

Thank you for the ask and your very kind words! ❤ It's so nice to hear that people like my rec posts because they really do take a surprisingly large amount of time to put together. Anyway, I'm not complaining & this is a lot of fun for me, so on to the recs!

I struggled a bit with how to define "underrated" and I think everybody has their own ideas of what exactly that means. Also, the Stucky ship has been around for more than a decade (even longer if you count the comics), so creative output and reader interest will fluctuate and ultimately decline over time. A Stucky fic posted after 2019--no matter how insanely good it is--will never do the numbers it would have done in the Golden Age of 2014-2018. So, for the purpose of this list, a fic written in 2016 with 15K hits or less does qualify as underrated, while a fic posted in 2021 with 10-15K would not.

Also, as always, this list is by no means an exhaustive one.

Author's summary: Bucky’s crying before he’s off the boat and he’s the least surprised out of anyone to realize it.

He’s always been a softie, a leaky faucet, and the war hasn’t changed that, so he doesn’t know why the sob that smacks him startles him bad enough that he grips the strap of his bag doubly hard, ready to swing it around like a battering ram, ready to find that cloying, invisible enemy. He’s not being ambushed, on his belly in the muck and camellias, cypress hanging low, moonlight casting an eerie smile upon Lake Como like it’s enjoying the hell out of muffled gunshots and the wet grunt of lifeblood spattering onto the undergrowth.

That’s done. He’s safe.

An AU in which Bucky--minus one arm--comes back from the war and Steve never got to go, and never became Captain America. A scrappy little story that is at once full of emotion and yet completely unsentimental. This story socked me on the jaw, tackled me to the ground, and then sat on me while twisting, twisting, twisting my arm behind my back. It also has one of my favorite descriptions of the SteveBucky dynamic I've ever read: "They’re all roughed up, the two of em, a pair of old marble statues weathered by time and harsh touches, but they know each other’s chinks and foibles and can side-step them with grace while still treating the other about as delicately as they’d handle a sack of potatoes." !!! Hollywoodland by romanticalgirl | E, 69K

Author's summary: In 1930s Hollywood, the world is run on the studio system. Stars are told who to date, what to wear, what to say, and how to look pretty doing it. The only way you can really do what you want is if you don't get caught.

Steve's dating Peggy, which works out because she's married to Sam, even though it's not legal. But it's the perfect cover for the fact that Steve's gay. He's managing just fine skirting the system to find companionship, but then he meets James Barnes and life gets a lot more complicated.

If you know anything about me and my love for Golden Age Hollywood, then you won't be surprised that this pushes all of my buttons. This is loosely inspired by the real life relationship of Cary Grant and Randolph Scott (the exact nature of which we will probably never know, but let's just say it was most likely not strictly platonic). Is the world the author created here entirely realistic? No--and it's not intended to be. While it is indeed rooted in many of the horrible realities that queer people and POC have faced in the past (and are still facing today), it's a slightly kinder version of it that allows for a hopeful, if not a strictly happy ending in the traditional sense. A sumptious story with gorgeous art.

Author's summary: He feels like Steve’s mistress. He feels hollowed out. He feels like a jammed gun still trying to go off. When he’s not with Steve he convinces himself he’s ruining Steve’s life, and though he tries, he’s too selfish to stop. When he’s with Steve, he’d fight God himself to keep it, this tangible perfection that makes him drunk and anchors him in ways he did not know existed.

Or, the one where they both survived the war, Bucky loves Steve now, has loved Steve since he was fifteen, and the year is 1945.

This is a story that I have reread many, many times because it is the perfect wish fulfillment fic for me. It's the slightly unrealistic, or one could also say: optimistic version of what I imagine would have happened had Steve and Bucky both survived the war. That's not to say that this fic doesn't have its very angsty moments, but ultimately, this is a story about love and hope triumphing in the face of adversity, and sometimes you just want to see good things happen to good people. I know some readers may find the formatting and the non-linear structure challenging, but this is a beautiful story and I really urge you all to give it a try!

I'll Light Your Way Home series by BeaArthurPendragon | M-E, 69K, 5 parts

Author's summary: Two lost Vietnam vets find each other in a Hell's Kitchen gay bar one hot September night. This is how they find their way home.

A pattern emerges! Can you tell I'm really into (No Powers) AUs set in the early to mid 20th century? Well, here's another one, but we're actually moving into second half of the century, specifically to 1969, for this one! Bea is quite possibly my favorite Stucky writer and I have recommended her stories many times to anybody who will listen to me. It's debatable whether or not she actually counts as "underrated", I guess, but it is my personal opinion that her fics should have ten times the kudos/comments/hits they do and that she deserves to be up there with the "big names". This story in particular just completely won over my heart with its gorgeous (but not ostentatious) writing, its confident and mature characterizations, and great eye for historical detail. I *cannot* recommend her fics enough. /unabashed fangirl moment over.

The Northern Lights by ThisChairIsMyHomeNow | M, 21K

Author's summary: “I can’t feel my face,” Steve shivers.

“I can’t feel my left arm,” Bucky says, deadpan. Steve barks out a laugh. It’s all white puffs of vapor in the chilly air.

“This the spot?”

“Nah,” Bucky pants, breath ragged from the long ascent up a mountain. “Almost there.”

A post-CW canon-divergent story that the author jokingly describes in their author's note as "gay superhero reluctantly gets therapy in the jungles of Wakanda, then goes on a covert road trip." And yes, maybe I wouldn't put it quite so flippantly myself, but it's not... untrue. And yet there is so much more depth to it. If you like a Bucky who takes back his life, his identity, and his future on his own terms, a Steve who isn't reduced to being his recovery prop but instead gets to shine in all his glorious, intense, stubborn Steve-ness, and a Sam & a Natasha who aren't just window dressing for the SteveandBucky-Show, this is for you! Cap Quartet Road Trip where all four members get their moment to shine--what are you waiting for?

Bucky is two years old when he learns to talk.

I've spent a good 30 minutes debating with myself which one of these two I should include here, and then I just threw up my hands and said "why not both? Both is good!" So here they are, two beautifully written mid-length full-arc (childhood to sometime past TWS, where they diverge from canon) fics that I love both equally. These are standalone stories and are not set in the same universe, but they do read and feel like companion pieces to each other because both stories are told through the lense of Steve and Bucky's respective artistic sensibilities and how they use their art as a framework to make sense of the world. Misplaced Pencils gives you artist Steve who, from a very young age on, has always tried to understand the world by taking it apart into its visual components & falling back on a fixed set of questions that help him to categorize and compartmentalize the people he encounters and the emotions he feels for them (just like he will later do in other areas of his life). Only that there is of course one person who's always refused to fit neatly into just one of his categories. and our worlds... on the other hand, gives you storyteller Bucky who's constantly talking, singing, writing. Who, in the end, can't help himself but narrate even his own fall and who is later delightfully affronted by his own narrative arc in a "if I had been the one in charge, I would've written it better!" way. Both of these stories are very dear to my heart and they deserve a million more hits.

Hi!

Just finished re-reading Desert Blooms and Western Wind, and gearing up for Becoming Whole and wanted to remind you how awesome you are!

But my actual point, I stumbled across you during my AloyxDrakka phase and then you managed to suck me right in to Kotaloy…

And then I got in to BG3, which you were right behind with Kiss me on the Mouth & Someone Great. And I have to confess I wasn’t all too keen on exploring a Halsin ship, let alone a HalsinxAstarionxTav ship but you’ve sucked me right in to that too…

And while my brain festered away on Rolan, I stumbled across Catskarky’s Mass Effect comics which preemptively started my GarrusxShepard phase (and forced me out to buy the trilogy which I’m now just concluding). And so anyway, that got me thinking and I vaguely recalled that I’d seen you had previously dabbled in the ME fanfic space and I was right, and I’ve come to this conclusion:

You are the ultimate source of good games and great ships (ignoring your unfortunate Shakarian oversight lol). So please, please share your wisdom! Recommend anything and everything. I literally value no one’s opinion more in this!

HAHAHA OKAY BUT this made me laugh, both with delight that you've enjoyed so many of my beloved ships -- but also because Shakarian is my OG ship. Garrus Vakarian is my first-ever OG videogame boyfriend LMAOOO. The reason I haven't written any significant fic for him is that my Shepard picks the control ending, meaning that she sacrifices herself to save the geth and EDI and thus she essentially "dies" and leaves beloved Garrus alone... and I could never write that. I can write angsty-ending ships, but I just don't have the heart to write a ship where one member of the pairing literally dies. (And no, I've never considered doing a non-canon workaround because I really like the control ending as it is, which may be an unpopular opinion, but I'm sticking to it!)

I have written one (1) Shakarian oneshot, though!! It was shortly after MELE came out and one of my BFFs got into Shakarian, so I wanted to see if I could bring myself to write them, but this oneshot is as far as I got, sadly 😭❤

As for other game recommendations: off the top of my head, Dragon Age and the Witcher come to mind -- specifically Dragon Age: Inquisition and The Witcher 3, which are both the third installments of their respective series. DA:I has historically been the greatest source of fic inspiration for me, and my Geralt/Reader series might actually be my favourite body of work. You can play both of these games without having played the previous two games -- this is what I did, and both games are among my top 5 favourites!

To prepare for playing these games, beloved friends had recommended some primer articles for me, which basically just introduce you to the lore and the worldstate so you can jump in. Those articles are here, if you decide to check out these games:

As for the rest of the Witcher and Dragon Age games: I can't speak for The Witcher 1 and 2, since I haven't played them, sadly! I played the first Dragon Age game (Origins) once, and I... struggled a lot because the gameplay shows its age now. I'M SORRY TO EVERYONE WHO SWEARS BY IT, but I just didn't enjoy playing all of it. The storytelling is good and the companions are a treat, but I wouldn't be able to play it a second time.

I loved Dragon Age 2, and I adore the companion dynamics in DA2 even moreso than in Inquisition, but I actually have only played DA2 one and a half times, mainly because the gameplay is also dated now. It's definitely playable though, certainly moreso than DA:O in my humble opinion, so I would recommend it! And I will say this for DA2: Fenris is the canon romance that I fell the hardest for and have written the most for, of all my videogame LIs. Take that to mean what you will. 🤣

If you like anime, my top two favourite animes are ones that I've also written for: Samurai Champloo (which would be considered retro now 😭💀) and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Both of these anime made me cry for very different reasons, and I highly recommend them! You also don't need to have played Cyberpunk 2077 in order to follow and enjoy Edgerunners (I haven't played it), so don't worry about that!

Well, Ce que la vie nous prend/What life takes from us is a crossover with the Titanic 1997 movie and the Titanic 2012 minseries. But it was not crazy I guess.

Yes. By myselft. That's it.

No, but I would love to if someone wants! 👀

Well, I wrote a lot about Casper and Matteo (Ruudettini) power and at the moment everything is about Fabio and Marc (Mabio supremacy) BUT my all time favorite ship will always be Drarry (yeah, nothing to do with what I'm writing 😭).

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I WILL FINISH MY WORKS IN PROGRESS, IT'S A PROMISE!

16. What are your writing strengths?

Knowing that people enjoy what I'm writing is my biggest strenght 🥰

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I am unpredictable and irregular: a day, I can write 6-7 pages in a row in a few hours and the day after, I'm just staring at a blank page. 🥴

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I love it, I do it in English when I translate my works haha.

First since I start writing for myself in middle school was a Bleach think. 🤣

I don't really know, I love my writing for Ce que la vie nous prend/What life takes from us but Not just a game holds a special place in my heart too and I need to finish those works fr. 🤩

It was difficult to choose just five (in any of my works I can find something that I like), but here they are:

Children of tyrants - RoChu, Mature, historical hetalia, very modern timeline (late 2010s). This is something I'm most prouf of, considering the extent of research I did (had to become versed in chinese history almost from scratch...). There's a lot of RoChu works in Russian and English, but they rarely are something aside from just fluff and romance and they tend to avoid tackling controversial topics regarding Russia and China's relations in the past and present. So I decided to fix this situation.

Unexpressed - Amerus oneshot, explicit, 90s era, very triumphant Alfred and very confused Ivan. Wrote the entire fic for the last paragraph. It came out very accidental, I didn't do a huge research, was just writing a commission, and boom, this 4 pages sized piece became one of my favourite fics of all time. It seems like it's readers' favourite too.

Shards of Memories - my magnum opus; Rusame, Cold War setting with a retrospective of their relations since the XVIII century. Ivan and Alfred understand they've experienced a memory loss and decide to run away to unravel this mystery with KGB and CIA on their tail. Stopped writing this because of war, hope to get back to it soon, maybe in the end of this year <3

Ashes and Flame - historical Rusame, featuring the aftermath of 9/11 attack. Love this for the same reasons I love "Children of tyrants": had to do tons of research, learned a lot of new info, also writing about relatively modern events (especially revolving around Russia and USA) is always more exciting than about some old uncontroversial stuff.

The tale of the Feud and Loyalty - RusFin, mature, featuring Russia and Finland's relations from 15th to the beginning of 19th century (WIP). Arcticviolet's "Maiden and the Two-headed Eagle" introduced me to RusFin, AND I'M OBSESSED WITH IT SINCE THEN (recommend the work very much, go read it right now). Seriously, this ship is insanely historically-grounded, much more than lots of other popular ships, it's tragic and complex, it deserves more attention! Not to mention, Finnish history deserves more recognition. So here's my small contribution to RusFin fandom, complementary to arcticviolet's work.

Alright, so now that I have the definitive results of my poll:

I'm shocked that so few people ship Kitty × Dae. I knew they wouldn't be the favourite since they don't have the exciting/popular tropes but I thought more people would ship them than this.

Kitty × Yuri is really cute, I'm not surprised they're so popular, but I like Yuri × Julianna so much I just can't get on board with it. Yuri was so in love with Julianna all season I just really don't want anything to come between them. However, I really like that Kitty developed her crush on Yuri and discovered this side of her sexuality, I think it was really well handled and a great bit of bi rep. The introduction of a different female love interest would not be unwelcomed by me.

Yes, Kitty × Min Ho is a great grumpy × sunshine enemies to friends to lovers ship, but I really hope that people are acknowledging that, as of the end of S1, Kitty has not shown any romantic interest in Min Ho and his crush is purely one-sided. Not to say that she won't or shouldn't develop those feelings, and they would be cute if they got together, but people shouldn't expect too much too fast. I only say this because I have seen people have these expectations in other fandoms and it not ending well. And I feel this way about Kitty × Yuri too, Kitty has a crush on Yuri, yes, but Yuri hasn't really demonstrated reciprocating feeling. Yes, they had that almost kiss, but I would argue that that is not enough to count as proof of reciprocation. As far as we have been shown, Yuri is still in love with Julianna and sees Kitty as a best friend. But again, that could change.

THREE PEOPLE actually voted for Min Ho × Madison!?

SIX PEOPLE voted for Min Ho × Eunice!? That was so unexpected!!

I don't really have a main endgame ship favourite, I kind of want Kitty to play the field and try out the different combos (though I know lots of people don't like it when shows do too much with too many ships). My only endgame ship is Q and Florian, though I know they have a lot of work to do on their relationship before they get to the point that it's healthy for them to be together long term. They were super cute but they have some serious issues to sort out.

Jina and Professor Lee are also a fun ship, and I like there being a romantic plot between two of the older characters too because it presents a really different kind of dynamic. Jina needs to divorce her husband anyway, that man sucks, and it's pretty clear that her and Lee still have feelings for each other. I think them, Alex and Yuri are such a sweet family and it would be really lovely for them all to have that.

All in all, this is the kind of show that's bound to have alot of different shipping opinions within the fandom. I personally haven't seen any toxicity yet but I've been involved in too many fandoms that engaged in full on shipping wars to not be wary of that potential. This show is so wholesome and I really hope that carries over into the fandom. People do not have to have the same shipping opinions as you, it does not make their opinions any less valid. Just enjoy the show and enjoy the community, consume and create the fanon content that you enjoy and leave other shippers and fanon creators alone.

But in seriousness, I also want to hear from anyone else in the fic writing space. And only if you are interested. No pressure, but please also share your favorite personal fics if you want. We have amazing writers in our fandom, and you all have so much to be proud of.

...so, if I share that my favorite are AUs - will that further encourage you or further discourage you in reading them? I feel very torn about that. I'll mark which ones are the AUs with a *, I know they aren't for everyone, but I put so much heart into these.

These are in no particular order.

We Tried the World - Oneshot

Summary: “We tried the world... it wasn’t for us.” John invites a restless Gordon to visit him in Thunderbird Five while he's healing from his injuries. They talk Characters: John, Gordon, Virgil Why I like it: There's a catharsis to this one, and a meditation that I adore. Meanwhile, I feel like I succeeded at channeling John in way that may not be everyone's cup of tea, but captures one aspect of how he speaks to me. His art is his science, and I am quite proud of the prose in this one.

Directionless - Oneshot

Summary: Two Tracy's and a Lighthouse: "You actually want to avoid lighthouses," Gordon tells him. "The light's a warning that there's land nearby and not to come too close." "Hmm. Still. I imagine if one is lost at sea any light on the horizon, even a warning light, is a welcome symbol of hope, of change to come." He breathes the smell of sea salt. "Are you?" "Am I what?" "Lost at sea?" Characters: Gordon, Virgil Why I like it: I feel strongly about the message in this fic and Gordon's struggle to figure out what's next, and I so love Virgil's presence to ground him amidst his thoughts. The light house was a lovely metaphor for the bonds I wanted to portray, and this story just feels like a warm hug when I read it.

Hold Fast* - Multi-Chap

Summary: Autumn, 1775. “The rigging ran through his blood; it was an energy, a lifeforce.” Characters: Gordon, Virgil, Scott, John, Alan, OCs Why I like it: It just felt right, despite being an AU. And though it's nothing I've ever read before, the heart of it very much is Thunderbirds. This is Gordon's hydrofoil story, just under the lens of the privateers AU. It was my first full exploration of adding depth to OCs. It also was posted weekly, which was a challenge for me that I actually succeeded in. And most of all... this story absolutely wrecked me. The feelings are raw, and very visceral.

The great wide open* - Multi-Chap

Summary: Gordon binds himself in the blue and meets the eyes of a dolphin trying to reach him in ways he can't understand. But maybe Virgil can. A prequel to "lend me the courage of the stars." Kermadec AU-djacent. Characters: Gordon, Virgil Why I like it: If you're going to go for an AU that's not too out of the box, choose this one. I enjoy that I've gotten to explore science Gordon in a way that feels right for him (to me anyway). I always see him as more hands on, but entirely competent, and with this series it's his oceanic soul that allows him to explore his brand of science with the calls of his heart. Enki and his family was a joy to discover, and I would be remiss not to include them in this list.

Tracy Seaside Orchard and Farm* - Multi-Chap

Summary: An alternate universe. Gordon has a successful farm... and seems to have nothing to do with this International Rescue thing. Characters: Gordon, Virgil, OCs Why I like it: The beginning of chicken!Dad which has since become almost synonymous with me as a person. That and ships (I have no chickens nor have I sailed). But I also like that this story feels unique and that I had the honor to explore who Gordon would be under different circumstances. I feel like I successfully wrote an argument - a horrible one - and still managed to show that no one was in the wrong or the right. I'm proud of how tender the boys' reconciliation feels, and I hope this story feels genuine and organic and compassionate.

In summary, the ones I am most proud of are the ones that allow me to play with imagery and poetic prose, that allow me to explore the bonds of brotherhood and human nature, and that feel a little different despite also being as Tracy as it gets.

Stars and Oceans. Classic post-Order 66 Star Wars featuring a Codywan (fem!Obi) storyline so it's ... pretty bleak. BUT it is also part 1, so part 2 is much less angsty.

No? I've had one where someone commented ''I wish you hadn't done xyz" which threw me a bit bc ... dude. The back button's right there.

Oh, tell a lie, I once had someone tell me my female OC was too much of a feminist and they didn't like that. It didn't feel particularly insulting though.

9. Do you write smut, if so what kind?

I love writing smut, and I feel like I have improved so much in recent years. I like most kinds, but not hate-sex or cheating. Don't like reading it and don't think I could write it.

10. Do you write crossovers? If so, what’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Hmm, yes and no. I like taking characters out of one universe and transplanting them into another. I have two of these on the go at the moment; a Firstprince Discovery of Witches AU and a Codywan His Dark Materials. But I don't cross the characters over, so Henry and Alex won't be running into Matthew and Diana.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Once, had a fic cross-posted without my permission and I wasn't happy. Thankfully it was taken down immediately once I contacted the person who'd done it. I think they thought they were being nice?

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

@inexplicablymine baby, current WIP, Firstprince, and y'all are NOT ready.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

I have regular obsessions with ships! I love, and always will, Firstprince and Codywan. But I'm currently eyeball deep in a Buddie rabbit-hole and absolutely head-over-heels for some Wheel of Time ships too so I don't know if I could ever choose one favourite.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Probably one of my Star Wars ones - there's a Sithywan fic that I have the bare bones of a plot for but so far it feels flimsy to me.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue and inner monologues of characters. I like to think I'm good at landing characterisations.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Ad-libbing or ad-hoc writing I struggle with but also conversely plotting? I can have these amazing ideas that usually start with dialogue between two characters and then can't always follow through in creating a narrative around that scene.

Also sometimes I think I rely on a Deus Ex Machina too often.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I'll normally try to just add in the odd word if canon, 'mijo', etc. I try to avoid long sentences unless it's a fictional language anyway (Mando'a) or it can't be avoided. Then I very guiltily use Google translate. For slang I do try and research multiple sources rather than Google though.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Justice League, the DC Animated version which was a very good cartoon actually.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

I sure do! It's usually pretty explicit and mainly with established relationships. I've written one slow burn, I've done my time.

I haven't written any yet but I'm currently working on two Mass Effect x Call of Duty fics, one set in the MWIII timeline, the other in the Mass Effect timeline.

As much as I love soapghost, I have to go with Shenko.

Well, my big one is The Long Road, of course, but I really hope to finish that one it's just going very slow (I AM working on it), so probably Brothers.

Dialogue, probably. And I think I don't do a too shabby job at finding a character's voice, if you know what I mean. Also, I think my smut isn't too bad, either.

Descriptions, exposition, PLOTTING

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Ehhh, it strongly depends.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Technically Star Trek TOS but those were just handwritten stories a friend and I swapped/wrote for each other. The first fandom I wrote anything for and shared it online was Mass Effect.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

Oh, that's tough. I'm really proud of Chase Your Heart and it's definitely one of my favorites but there are a few others I also like quite a bit, like With A Little Help From Your Friends (Top Gun), Body and Soul (Call of Duty), Hot Mystery Guy, That's What Friends Are For, and April 11, 2194 (all Mass Effect), the latter which will always have a special place in my heart.

'kay, i'm an introvert which means if i'm not comfortable around people i will be very awkward, VERY, and leaving the house drains me so even when i have fun drinking and partying i'm gonna need weeks of solitude after

i'm a blabber mouth when i'm comfortable, i work in marketing so i'm obviously annoying

i can't cook, and i like girly sim games and pink. my school and college mates got frustrated with me a lot because i never studied and always got the best grades

i like going to new cafes and i always have some sort of beverage with me when working (i work from home thankfully! all on my own no boss but me)

i'm very clumsy and get bruised very easily, i'm 169cm but i lie and say its 170cm because it looks prettier. i say i like books and reading but i havent read regularly since i started college (and i have graduated already in a while so)

im also very politically active, and i show my love mostly with gifts and acts of service, i'm not very good with touch and words of affirmation

the more and more i read , the more my mind was just screaming james . i think you two would make the perfect pair ! james is more than extroverted enough for the both of you , though he understands the importance of letting you recharge your social battery and doesn't press you to go out constantly . he's more than happy to just chill with you if you need minimal company , and he treasures every single outing with you !

there is nothing james loves more than when you finally get comfortable with him , and never shut up . to him , his favourite sound in the whole world is your voice , so he's more than happy for you to just talk to him about whatever , whenever , for as long as you like , and he'll return your energy !

you don't need to worry about not knowing how to cook - james has got it covered ! it's thanks to euphemia, sure, but james has a few trusty recipes that he's absolutely mastered , so he makes sure to cook for you every now and again to show you he cares

james loves the fact that you work from home , even if he has to restrain himself from being a pest . he'll pop in every hour or so to check how you're doing , often bringing you a new drink if he sees you're running low !

how clumsy you are is something so endearing to james , but he still tsks every time he sees a new bruise on your skin . he gently brushes his thumb over it , looking up at you and asking what the bloody hell you did this time , but he insists on kissing it better every . single . time .

Arranged marriage, jealousy and the war in the background: I enjoy this story a lot (though it’s not entirely accurate, being on the more optimistic side.)

You knew this was coming

You're right, I did see it coming, even though you watched me go through all of Harry's comics in the space of.. what.. two months? This man bore firsthand witness to my epic joys and tremendous sorrows. Anyways.

It's actually kind of difficult for me to pinpoint exactly what I love about Harry without saying like, "everything". I've already talked about how much he reminds me of my own dad, and of course I've talked about how much I like him in my favorite ships, but like, what specifically about him is it? Is it because he's just a silly little guy? Is it because he learns to be earnest? Is it because he learns his own version of confidence, rather than the type that his father wants him to have? Is it the bowties? Is it the dadliness?

But really, what I love about Harry is his journey towards self-identity. As long as you can ignore all the (waves hands at Kindred) bullshit, especially post-OMD there's so much there as far as Harry just accepting himself? When he learned to stop living underneath his father's shadow, it was just so good and so excellent. I only wish we could've seen more of him being a dad and repairing his relationship with Normie. I also honest-to-god feel like we deserved some kinda confirmation about Harry being Not Straight, because in my heart of hearts I know it to be true.

So, I guess, what I love about Harry? Maybe it's all of the above.

Like rehydrating food for them for breakfest, always making sure they're hydrated, or leaving little reminders or encouragement via sticky notes at their station? first of all, this is really, really late. i am so sorry, i have had a lot going on in my private life, so I've been very busy.

that being said, thank you so much! writing has always been my "thing", i guess, so i'm glad that you enjoy it!

burt;

burt's love language is acts of service, so this small gesture means the world to him

homie really does (internally) swoon when the captain brings him some water since working on the reactor all day gets really hot

of course he won't make a big deal about it, but once you two are alone, it's a bunch of "thank you, captain" and "captain, you're one of my favourite reasons to work on the ship"

just a very sweet guy

don't get me wrong, he doesn't have problems showing his emotions, he ain't about that. he knows that for any good relationship there must be communication. he's just a bit more 'stoic' than the others.

he always makes sure that you know that you're appreciated, though

celci;

there's something you need to understand about a relationship with celci in general before i explain the request

celci is big on words of affirmation, she expresses her love best via small encouragements throughout the day

whether that be anywhere from "no, mark, as much as I'd love to see the captain all happy, we are NOT throwing a PARTY on the ship!"

all the way to "wow, captain, you look very (gender-non-specifically) nice today"

so those little acts of service? they'll cause her to speak more than ever

"hey, mark! guess what! the captain is sooo cool, they made my breakfast!"

"as sweet as you are, captain, i need to get back to work"

etcetera.

gunther

gunther is like one of those "dog boyfriend" memes you see, but instead of a golden retriever, he's a fricken rottweiler

almost everybody is intimated by him, everyone except for you and the immediate crew, of course

so doing things for him as he's busy, people always ask why because, well, people are nosy and they suck

"captain are you actually preparing gunthers food? isn't he a bit, i dunno, hostile?"

"are you sure you're safe with gunther, captain? he seems a bit.. aggressive"

nonetheless, gunther always appreciates you doing these things for him

whether it's making him breakfast because it was the middle of the night and ADS started going off and it took, like, 5 hours to fix

or just bringing him a snack in ADS so he doesn't 'have to leave, because captain, let's face it, who else could we trust to run ADS?' (his words, not mine)

just overall really sweet about it, and loves you very much

mark;

oh boy.

mark is an actual golden retriever boy friend, which makes sense, because it's often times that you're similar to your pet (chika)

he doesn't know how to separate his work from his down time, his excuse being "how do i separate my work and downtime if we're literally living in my work for right now?"

yeah, you didn't take that very well.

that's when the small gestures started

that causes mark to brag to literally anyone and everyone "oh, hey, what do you got for breakfast? oh, that's cool, but was it made by THE CAPTAIN?"

he's literally a big fanboy, and he knows it

crew!mack;

mack has a slightly difficult time portraying affection

he usually does it best via doing things like that for YOU

do when you do things for him, he doesn't know how to respond

don't get me wrong, he absolutely loves and appreciates it, but he does hae a difficult time saying thank you for it

you two started seeing who could wake up first to make the others coffee/tea, and at some point that evolved to both of you waking up at 3:46 am (03:46 for those of you on the 24 hour format)

yeah, you both put an end to that real fast once you realised the other was losing that much sleep

now it's just by chance. if you wake up first, you make his coffee. if he wakes up first, he makes your morning beverage. if you wake up at the same time, you make each others. that's just how you two roll

HE!mack;

at first, he wants to hate you for it. just another thing for the captain to try to control to inevitably fu- oh shit, how did you make his coffee perfectly?

actually stunned, canton believe that you have done this.

after that, you start to make his coffee regularly. then comes rehydrating his meals. don't forget about the sticky notes to tell him that he's doing great.

him being him, not used to affection, be believes that you're trying to treat him like a child.

so he confronts you about it. when you explain that you realized he hadn't been taking care of himself as he was trying to prove himself as head engineer, so you wanted to make him feel better, he scoffs.

he 'allows' you to continue (he absolute loves it), and after a few days, he starts muttering a soft "thanks" to you.

he starts to pick up a few of your smaller jobs; you two alternate between hourly status check ups. he does the maintenance on the warp core (which is never much bc you all have no clue where it came from), etc
