too tired to actually write something out rn, but i cant stop thinking about you coming home after a long and stressful day and just- immediately face-planting into the couch and then staying there bc you’re just so tired
seokmin hears you come home and comes out to greet you excitedly, and you hate that you can’t even muster up the energy to greet him properly, only managing a grunt when he asks if you’re okay.
then there’s a hand cradling the back of your head and another rubbing gentle arcs across your back. “aish, you’ve had a long day, haven’t you, y/n?” and you’re so used to your boyfriend being the definition of loud and exuberant that sometimes you forget that he knows exactly how to lower his tone to make you feel like the two of you are the only people in the world.
he presses a kiss to your hair and murmurs something about making food, but you can barely hear it over the way relief makes your body deflate.
you are home — not in the sense of a place, but in the sense of a person.
and for the first time in your life, being taken care of is a certain thing. the same way you know the sun will rise tomorrow or that you need oxygen to live, you know that there will be a home cooked meal waiting for you, that there will be arms that will hold you and lips that will press affectionate kisses to whatever part of you is available.
wonderfully, miraculously, you know you will be loved, and loved well — seokmin has made sure of it.

Keys are jingling in her face as Joshua stands inches above her head. Smiling down at her still trying to buckle the torture device women call heels.
"Are we ready yet, princess?"
Y/n didn't respond with words but a big sigh meaning no. Packing her purse frantically while she runs around the apartment in search of lipstick to match the red of her dress.
“Y/n, you’ll be fine. I would say trust me but I feel like we're beyond that.”
Running back and forth between rooms she still didn’t know what to say to Joshua, she  decided to let the tensions between the two of them go away for the night as they tackle the bigger fish.
“Josh. I know. Minghao texted me that he’s going to pretend to be on Mimi’s side. He said we have to be careful. I’m just not sure why.”
“We’re like seven against one. It will be fine.”
“Will it? Who knows what she’s capable of, she's very capable of taking all of you down to get to me. She proves it all the time. Maybe I just shouldn’t go. This is stupid even entertaining her.”
“Do you still care about me and Minnie? Even if you don't, you do care about Minghao. I know for a fact if you don’t show up she will blackmail us forever. I also have a feeling she’ll go for Seokmin somehow, she knows he’s weak. If she can’t take you down, she will definitely take him down.”
“Then let’s end this once and for all, please.”
Locking her front door, feeling fire in her gut to take down the girl who had done everything in her power to hurt y/n, she couldn’t help but feel like there was something brewing that she wouldn’t be able to come back from.
With the air around her full of pressure, she sat in silence in the back of the uber next to a friend who used to be her entire world and now was barely a part of it.
Something about the ride to Mingyu’s bar felt like it was going to be the last time she saw herself like this, full of anxiety about the days going forward, worried that the other shoe will drop.
When the two of them finally arrived they were met with an obnoxious banner outside the front door, that the bar was closed for an ‘exclusive’ event.
Seokmin was standing off to the right, clutching his phone in his hand, looking obviously nervous waiting for y/n to arrive.
She quickly jumped out of the car with a thank you and ran into his arms, holding onto him for dear life before you went inside.
“You look beautiful, y/n. Perfect revenge dress.”
“Thank you for being here to help me.”
“Where else would I be? Hi, Josh.”
“Hey, Seok. Where are.. You know.”
“Out back, they parked Won’s car in the staff lot and are waiting back there.”
“Okay. Cool. Let them know we’ll give them a signal to come in.”
Walking through the front door, still sticking Seokmin on her arm. Feeling his physical touch to put y/n at ease following behind Joshua.
There was a table set up at the front, small bags designed for everyone's phones at coat check, the security guard asked to confiscate everything on them including  their bags.
Getting a deep wondering look in her eyes, Joshua was asking for permission if it's okay, though she was apprehensive to hand over the items that could be useful for her escape if needed she knew but she also knew she had to do it.
Seokmin told the guard he just had to send a final message, assuming it was to the nerd back in the parking lot, you just sent him a small smile.
After hanging over the personal items, the three piece crew, much smaller than normal, were handed numbered masks, assumingly part of Mimi’s plan to know who is who.
“Guys, please stay close. Okay?”
“We’re not going to leave you, y/n. We promise.
“Good.”
Placing their masks over their eyes, Seokmin in something that looked like a green dragon, Joshua a white jester, and y/n a black sparkly mask with two small horns placed over her eyebrows.
“I see she still has a sense of humor.”
“I’m not sure if I think this is very funny, y/n.”
“Humor keeps me living, Shua.”
“Clever.”
Walking through the black velvet curtain, there were swarms of people everywhere, some holding trays with champagne and other clear liquids, a parade of dancers on tables, and some party goers looking at the three of them, trying to suss out who they were.
“How the fuck are we going to find her in here?”
Y/n leaned into Seokmin’s ear and whispered the things Minghao had told her before she gave up her phone.
Minghao was supposedly the only male guest in some type of red mask and knowing Mimi it had something to do with the devil.
“Guys, I’m going to go grab us some drinks, don’t take anything from anyone if they offer you something. She may have spiked a drink since I’m sure she knows you’ve arrived.”
Joshua was right, y/n hadn’t even thought about the possibility of Mimi doing something dirty to take her out and make her embarrass herself.
Y/n pulled Seokmin along to the bathroom that was sitting next to the bar, locking them both inside for a moment to talk before their night.
“Look. Let’s not drink anything, okay? And we can’t eat either. Joshua reminded me of something from that video of me that Mimi had put out at Minghao’s event. She said she could get us some stuff to have a fun night and to loosen me up more so I could go over to Joshuas and lose my virginity.”
“She’s so sick. Y/n I'm so sorry.”
“It’s fine. I just don’t want anything to happen to you, because if i-”
With a small scream from Seokmin and y/n from a small knock on the door, she just yelled out they’d only be a minute, but the knocking persisted.
“Y/n? It’s Minnie. Let me in.”
“Uhh, Seokmin is having a bit of a bathroom emergency. Just one second.”
“Guys. I know you’re lying, just let me in. I know you don’t want to see me. But, please.”
Unlocking the door and letting Minnie slide through the crack, you noticed her mask as something to be aware of. It was some sort of bunny with pink crusted jewels all around it.
“What do you want, Minnie?”
“Seokmin, just let me talk okay?”
“Fine.”
“I know you guys don’t want to see me, I’m sure Joshua explained a little bit of what was going on considering you came with him here willingly. Just know I didn’t do it to hurt you, I did it to save myself. I was being selfish. Mimi knew stuff that I have never told anyone, not even the two of you, she was threatening telling my parents and I couldn’t come back from that, they’d nev-”
“Minnie? We don’t care right now, why did you want to come in here?”
“Because, I have an idea.”
“Which is?”
“Let me trade places with you tonight. Give me your dress and mask. That way whatever she tries to do to you, it’ll be me instead.”
“But, our hair is different, they took my bag so I don’t have the matching lipstick for you to wear.”
“Mingyu is doing work in his office, you can go hide in there with him. I have an overnight bag with some stuff in it that you can put on. I think it’ll be better if we're both not out there.”
“What about Seokmin? And wouldn’t she be suspicious if you’re not out there?”
“No. When I came to set up, I told her I wasn’t feeling well and that I wanted to go home early. She doesn’t even know he and I are still here.”
“How do I know this isn’t part of her plan?”
“Because I didn’t tell her about your friends waiting for you outside and about you and Minghao being friends still? Other than that you just will have to find it in your gut to believe me even if I betrayed you.”
“Okay.”
“Y/n are yo-”
“Seokmin, I’m sure.”
“Aright. We’ve been in here too long hurry up and change, Joshua is probably confused.”
“Follow me to the office, we'll swap there.”
Minnie led y/n and Seokmin down to the end of the hall holding her eagle eye on the room full of party go-ers looking for Mimi before making a clear getaway into the room Mingyu was held up in.
Unlocking the key to his office door. Minnie swooped her former best friend into the room where Mingyu was sitting at his desk, airpods in his ears, sipping on a beer.
“Hey.”
“Hi, Gyu.”
“Long time no see, y/n. Seokmin.”
“We miss you, big dog.”
“I know, Seoky.”
“Mingyu, y/n is going to stay in here with you while me and Seokmin go around the party. Okay? Keep her safe.”
“What about Seokmin?”
“Why does everyone keep asking about me?”
“Because, you’re the glue.”
“Aw, Mingyu.”
“Guys. Turn around so we can change.”
“Why it’s not li-”
“Mingyu.”
Y/n giggled at the interaction between Mingyu and Minnie, still unsure if they’re officially together or not, but she had hoped they were.
Slipping out of their dresses, y/n changed into Minnie's casual clothes, a pair of grey sweatpants and hoodie as Minnie slid into the red dress that fit like a glove.
“I have makeup wipes and other stuff in my bag, feel free to use it.”
“Okay.”
“Ready, Seok?”
“I think so, but what about Minghao? And the guys?”
“I can call them for you, I still have my phone.”
“But, how will you know when?”
“Cameras.”
“Wow, no shit. Okay. Be safe.”
“Seokmin?”
“Yeah, y/n?”
“If you see Minghao.”
“Don’t worry.”
As y/n was peeling her makeup off, Minnie and Seokmin slipped back out the door they came in from and back into the party hoping to uncover truths for their friends as she was stuck in an office with her old flame, in secret once again.
“Want a beer?”
“Please.”
Mingyu handed over a glass bottle as he popped the top off swiftly, y/n chugged at the golden liquid hoping it would settle her stomach slightly.
“Minghao, huh?”
“What?”
“You guys, are uh? Dating? Friends?”
“We’re just friends.”
“For now.”
“What?”
“You like him.”
“I did. I don’t even know anymore.”
“You do. You just don’t trust him.”
“Not fully, no. Not yet. I really only trust Seokmin and the guys. Which is sad.”
“Not even me?”
“I’ll be honest, I thought you had something to do with it for a while.”
“Y/n, come on.”
“I just wasn’t sure. Joshua told me everything. I know you didn’t. I’m sorry I doubted you I guess.”
“Do you think if all of this never happened things would’ve been different between us?”
“Maybe. How are you and Minnie?”
“The same. I think she has a lot of stuff to work out before anything would ever be able to happen seriously.”
“Like?”
“A lot of things she should tell you herself, but I don’t like that she hurt you.”
“Mingyu, you know-”
“No. I know. It’s silly I still like you after you made it clear to me your feelings, but I can’t help it. I’m competing with your childhood crush and your knight in shining armor I get-”
“No. Mingyu.”
Y/n pointed to the screen, watching Minnie approach who y/n thought was maybe Mimi, watching their interaction carefully. Mimi ran her hand over Minnie's masked face and took Seokmin’s hand in hers, jumping a little bit off the ground. Holding her hands out to show them the work she had put in for y/n's birthday.
“Do you think she knows?”
“That it’s not you? Maybe. She is a good liar.”
“She definitely is.”
Y/n noticed to their side seated at a table was Minghao, something about his demeanor and watchful stance, plus the hint of the red mask, let her into the detail.
“That’s Hao.”
“In the red? Where’s Josh?”
“To the left. White mask.”
“What do you think they're talking about?”
“No clue.”
Mimi handed Seokmin and Minnie drinks off the tray that were brought over and cheered them on as she went to take her spot on the stage to introduce the DJ for the evening and also thank the guests for coming, a sign the party was officially in full swing.
Y/n and Mingyu kept watching on as Seokmin and Minnie sipped their drinks, when he suddenly stopped her from putting the cup to her lips and swapped their drinks without letting Mimi onto what he was doing.
“Do you really think she’d drug your or Minnie, but your drinks?”
“I do. I told Seokmin to be careful. Joshua was the one actually who told me.”
“Why do you think she hates you so much?”
“Because I’m the only person who never put up with her shit.”
“And you’re the only person who can get what she wants but can't have?”
“Not true.”
“It is. She wanted Josh, she got him, but really he wanted you. She got Minghao to fall for you unintentionally even though she had him first and wanted him to do her dirty work by lying. She hates you because you’re everything she isn't. Kind and Honest.”
“I don’t feel that way. I never tell people what I want. Even Seokmin. I don’t know how to tell people my true and honest feelings. I just skirt around them. I act like I’m okay and I’m not. I’m not okay. I sometimes feel like she’s onto something. Maybe she’s helping me go after things I need.”
“See.”
“What?”
“Even though she’s fucking with your life you have compassion enough to say maybe she’s helping you. You’re a good person, y/n.”
“Maybe.”
“Trust me. That’s why I fell in love with you.”
“Don’t. Mingyu, please. Not now.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be.”
As the pair was sitting and drinking at Mingyu’s desk, they entirely missed Mimi’s devious actions in spiking the drink that belonged to one of their friends.
“Wait. Why is she on stage?”
“She’s talking.”
“Do you have sound on your cameras?”
“Yeah, one second.”
Mingyu unmuted his laptop and watched as Mimi paraded around the stage.
“Hello, everyone. I’m Mimi, of course. I know you can’t tell under my mask. But, I’m here to celebrate the birthday girl, y/n. She has been in my life for a long time, we were such good friends as kids. Did you know y/n stole my boyfriend? It’s funny, she’s always doing things people don’t expect. I want to bring her up here tonight to let her tell you her story for herself as she turns another year older. y/n? Can you please come to the stage?”
Seokmin nudged Minnie who was looking unwell, the girl on his side pretending to be someone she wasn’t slinked onto the stage next to Mimi, clearly inebriated.
Mimi smirked and handed her the microphone, letting her know it was time for a speech.
“Uh, Hi. Sorry, I’m not feeling well.”
The crowd of people they may or may not have known the girl who stepped on the stage wasn’t the girl of honor, y/n and Mingyu watched in disbelief holding eachothers hands without realizing it.
Minnie fell to her knees which prompted Seokmin and other masked guests including Joshua and Minghao to run to her side as the microphone cracked loudly over the speakers.
Mingyu tugged tightly on y/n’s hand before she forced him to run out to the girl left on the small stage who had fainted.
Y/n was sitting and watching everything go down when all of the sudden the lights cut out, following the last bit of light from the computer screen.
“Y/n?”
“Hello? Who is it?”
“Aw, are you scared?”
“Mimi?”
“Who else?”
“What's wrong with Minnie?”
“Oh she’ll be fine. You should know better than to cross me. Bold of you both to go against what I actually had planned, but she meant well. I can't fault her for that."
“What do you want?”
Y/n felt Mimi’s presence beside her, her breathing slowing more in the faint black room.
“You. Well, for you to go away.”
“If I agree to what you want, will you leave my friends alone?”
“Yeah. I need you to do something for me first.”
“What is that?”
“Lie for me.”
“Why?”
A flashlight suddenly lit up the room, illuminating both of the girls' faces, Mimi had a sinister smile on her face.
“Because you owe me.”
“What do I need to do? And before I agree you have to promise me all of them will be okay.”
“I promise.”
"So?"
“I need you to go, I need you to find somewhere out of the city. I’ll tell your friends the rest. I put a bag in my car out front. It has everything, your phone, your wallet. Just get in and drive. I don’t care where you go, but just know if you show back up or contact them. I’ll find you. I’ll handle everything else.”
“How do I know I can trust you?”
“Hm. I’ll give you this.”
Mimi handed y/n a small pink zip drive hooked onto her key unit. Something for her to hold onto. She took it in the palm of her hand and shoved it inside the pocket of Minnie’s sweats.
“Can I ask you a favor if I do this?”
“I guess. What is it?”
“Take care of Seokmin and Jun. Even if you don’t get too close to them, just make sure they are alright. Everyone else can handle themselves. I just need to know the two of them will be okay.”
“Yes, y/n. Your bitch boys will be well taken care of.”
“Okay.”
Y/n took the keys from the top of Mingyu’s desk, ready to make her exit as the tears welled up in her eyes.
“Y/n?”
“What?”
“Aw, don't cry. I just need you to sign this letter I wrote. So they think it's from you.”
Y/n took the pen from Mimi, only reading the first few words of the fake letter meant for her friends and signed her name at the bottom. Maybe it wasn’t right, but she knew if she ever got the chance to apologize they’d understand.
“Actually can I ask you for one more thing before I go, Mimi?”
“Yep.”
“Why does it have to be like this?”
“Well because I know if I don’t force you out I’ll never get what I want. Good luck, y/n. You’ll need it.”
“Thanks. I guess.”
Y/n slipped out the back door of Mingyu’s bar for what she thought would be the last time. She took a deep exhale watching her breath follow the wind as she walked to Mimi’s car and slammed the door shut behind her. Finally letting the tears fall from her face before she started it and drove away.
She made a promise to herself as she left, just minutes until she became a year older. That somehow she’d find her way back, even though she may be picking up the pieces of what she left behind.

wonderful author who wrote that very beautiful hanahaki!seokmin fic 🥺💖 I just want you to know that I shared that story with my friends. I was so appalled by how this masterpiece was overlooked I had to spread it to my circle. I hope more readers are able to read this fic bc wahhh it’s so well written
I recently became a baby carat so I’ve just been here and there enjoying the wonderful pieces that’s been put out 💖 I’m so glad my 5 am comments made your day hehe I really love how you told the story of hanahaki in a very fresh way! and how you let your mc fall in love with someone else but in a very natural way too.
It was a really nice change because as much as I love reading about unrequited love that is reciprocated in the end, I think this one is a bit more grounded 🥺 especially bc you wrote yn and Seokmin’s relationship in a special way (like you acclimated the reader to build up gradual feelings for seokmin 💖) it was interesting to read how they would grow closer and build their relationship. my heart really melted when I read how he became such a strong pillar of support and like all the tiny details like making tea, going shopping with yn, being a constant person around her really showed how much he cares for her and aaa 😭 idk your characterization of him is so well I can literally feel that warmth extended to me like besbdbdbd 💖😔💖😔 ohhhhh op pls take responsibility for my heart growing to love Seokmin so much!
and as much as I can go on and on talking about how you wrote Seokmin (like idk I’m expecting myself to bring him up again! You got me whipped for him aufbdbdd like I TOO WANT TO HOLD HIS PRECIOUS FACE IN MY HANDS AND KISS HIM) I really love how you wrote Vernon’s relationship with yn 🥺 he is the second lead, but he still felt so important to the story and you took such good care with making him feel that he is such an important character and person in yn’s life.
Like !! aa tbh idk how to explain, but you know when sometimes you just need a conflict for a love triangle situation-type so you just have a third person in as the plot device? Vernon never felt like that! I always felt like he was there and it’s just so good 😭 and you took so much care with that aspect. His screentime is so limited but bc you took good care with leaving traces of him, when he appeared and interacts with yn the impact is there. ALSO HEART HURT AT THAT CONFRONTATION LIKE MY HEART REALLY SPED UP BC AMG NO NO NO VERNON’S GONNA KNOW HER SECRET!
and I can’t explain the tension when it was clicking in Vernon’s head how little time he has been spending with yn and how he felt he was being replaced like I LOVE THAT SO MUCH. that detail spoke so much to me because I too get jealous if someone I have been very close to suddenly becomes closer to another friend like it’ll just be a hard adjustment that suddenly the world doesn’t revolve just the two of you anymore, it has expanded to accept other people in and that foreign feeling in a once familiar space can be very lowkey threatening (idk how to describe 😭) you gave that feeling to Vernon’s side so well like you really cannot hate him hahahaha! bc you’re able to understand his view and why he’s so iffy with Seokmin invading the role that he once filled 🥺
I can’t help but mention our supportive friends also, Shua and Seungkwan (amg as also a Shua biased I was so giddy that he made an appearance in this fic as well 😂 our young director!) we don’t see much of them but they also flesh out the world a lot. I love how Seungkwan is also very sweet 🥺 literally Boo Kwan best boy I would drink whatever he recommends me hahahaha. like hmm— there’s not much to say but I love how comforting their presence is in the story as well. They really don’t appear or have much importance to the overall plot but I liked that it really felt like yn had more than just Vernon and DK. She really has newfound friend Seungkwan giving her medicine 😭💖
— AND I WANTED TO SAVE THIS FOR LAST BUT THE KISSING SCENE O H NY HOD O H MY GOD I LITERALLY FLATLINED, MADE A SHORT TRIP TO HEAVEN AND BACK! It was so cute 😭 I was just clutching my blanket bc my goodNESS MY GOODNESS SEOKMIN KISSES AND IT WASNT JUST ONCE BUT SO MANY TIMES 😭 I— I even pictured it in my head and enf dnd. o(-( oh op op my brain really fizzed out then and there bc I would kiss that man! I would kiss Lee Seokmin as if it was my last day experiencing the sunflower field before all the sunflowers in the world become extinct 😭 I would kiss him over and over until each little kiss is embedded into my brain he just has that effect! and especially this universe’s Seokmin— your Seokmin, that kiss scene felt so satisfyinf amg idk how to even describe just know I’ve grown wings!
also amg it’s 3 am and like my braincells are a bit fried but I really want you to know just how much this fic like blew my mind like I pictured DK to wear his Light of a Flame 97z fit and aah!! AAAAAAAAAA 😭😭😭 I love seokmin so so so much and reading this fic made me love him even more 🥺 thank you so much for sharing such an impressive story! If you see me in your notifs again hehehe I’m sticking around to read your other works bc your writing mwah mwah kiss bless bless!!
HEY YOU SWEET PERSONNNNNNN im so so so sorry for getting to this late 😭😭 ive been meaning to answer this but i keep on getting pushed to do smth🥲
anYWAY! I hope you know this message absolutely made my day and I've probably read it 10 times already. Falling flowers has always had a special place in my heart, it's my first long fic and even tho it doesnt get as much notes as my other works, the feedbacks are always so heartwarming 😭😭😭
Thank you for even spreading it to your friends aaaaaaa i hope they liked it and I'm soooo thankful you liked it to that extend 🥺🥺 welcome to the diamond life!!! I hope you'll like it here and you'll be here for a long time🤍🤍
I truly cant say how grateful i am that you pointed one things after the other about seokmin, hansol, and their overall relationship within the plot. This is getting repetitive but i cant thank you enough for this!!!
And hopefully you also enjoy my other works hehe🥰 hope to see you around 🤍🤍

“Hey Vernon!” You wave to your new friend who works at the convenience store that you live across from. He smiles back at you as you immediately go to grab your favorite bag of chips. “Boring night?” You ask, placing the bag on the counter as he scans it.
“Just a bit,” he laughs airly, punching in a few numbers on the keyboard, “that it for tonight?” He eyes you expectantly, waiting for you to give in to which you comply.
“Every night,” you scowl as he lifts one arm up in victory, “just the same cup of ramen for me.”
“You got it.”
Vernon somehow was always persuasive when it comes to keeping him company at the store, especially on weekdays. It never bothered you because he was a close friend that you cherished dearly and you did think that he could use the company considering that he had to work all night alone. And it was a chance for you two to bond and get to know each other more.
“Here you go, careful it’s a bit hot.” He places the cup of ramen on the table in front of you. You quietly thank him as he takes his place across from you with his ramen in his other hand. You dive in right away, not bothering to wait for him. “And you only came here for a bag of chips.”
You snort, swallowing the food in your mouth before slightly kicking him under the table. “In my defense, I’m always hungry.”
You resumed eating as Vernon began to eat his food. It was a nice feeling to eat with someone because you lived alone, and your best friend lived about thirty minutes away. You were grateful for Vernon.
“Hey,” you grabbed Vernon’s attention, looking up from his bowl, “can I tell you something that I haven’t told my best friend yet?”
“Your best friend as in Seokmin? The one you grew up with and has the same birthday as me?” You nodded your head. “Sure, I feel honored to know something before King Seokmin.” You giggle and pop a chip into your mouth before brushing off the crumbs from your hand.
“Okay, so the other day I went to the coffee house and finally asked out the cashier on a date.” Vernon’s eyebrows shot up, a surprised and somewhat proud expression on his face. “His name is Jun and we’re going out in two days.”
“That’s great!” Vernon says as he takes your chip bag, finishing the rest of the chips. He looks outside the window as you occupy yourself with your phone. A pang of jealousy hits Vernon hard as he fights off the urge to tell you how he feels.
***
“I had a great time today, Jun. Thank you for everything.” You say as you shly look down at your feet, too embarrassed to look him in the eyes.
Vernon watches the interaction through the glass panes, taking in every smile you gave Jun or the way you swung your intertwined hands. It irked him knowing that it wasn’t him making you feel butterflies in your stomach or making you smile like that.
He thought to himself about how you don’t remember him and what he’s done for you. It irritated him that you had poor memory and couldn’t even remember his name. That same little boy in grade school who would save you from all the mean kids or from the bugs that scared you. How could you forget someone who has made such a big impact on you during that time.
And the fact that he’s watched you all throughout high school, yet you never acknowledged him and his efforts to please you. That kid who sat at the back of the class and always offered you his favorite pen, or always remembered to hand you a piece of paper because you seemed to not have any. How do you forget that?
It seemed as though Vernon had to make you notice him somehow. After losing sight of you and with no information of which college you were attending, he had finally found you. His first love.
Luckily, Vernon was able to score a job at the convenience store you live across from, leaving you no choice but to talk to him. But somehow, you still didn’t notice him.
“Can we do this again sometime?” You nod eagerly at Jun’s request, planning all the details for your next date before he kisses your cheek and bids you a goodnight.
You smile happily as you wave to him, catching him walking towards the direction of the bus stop around the block. When he was out of sight, you gulped nervously as you felt goosebumps rise on your skin, but not from the cold.
You quickly scan your surroundings, having an urgent feeling of getting inside your apartment as soon as possible.
You look across the street at the convenience store Vernon worked at, hoping that maybe he would be there to assure you everything is fine and you’re just hallucinating. But the lights were off, the sign showing it was closed for the day.
Your nerves heightened as you quickly turned around to enter the gate of your apartment complex, only for Vernon to be standing there.
“Holy shit!” You placed a hand over your heart, taking in a breath as he laughed at you. “Vernon, you almost gave me a heart attack!”
He steps away from the gate and approaches you with a plastic bag. “Sorry, I thought you were back earlier from your date, so I went up to let you know that I was closing for today.” Your mouth forms an ‘o’ shape as he hands the bag to you. “It’s just some chips and drinks in case you need anything.”
You smile at him, “Aw, thanks Vernon you didn’t have to.” He shrugs, stuffing his hands in the pocket of his jacket before stepping aside to walk past you.
“You should get inside, it’s not safe out here.”
“I could say the same to you.” He smirks as he turns to leave towards the direction of the bus stop.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be more than safe.”
***
Seokmin opened the door to the cafe, somewhat excited to meet your date from the other night. Jun usually works during the calm hours of the day where it doesn’t get very busy, so you thought it’d be a perfect time to introduce him to Seokmin.
“Why don’t you grab a seat? I’ll go order.” Seokmin nods and heads to an empty table by the window as you approach the register, greeting the person at the register. “Hey Mingyu, just two regular iced americano please.”
You hand him the money after he punches in some numbers. You look among the other workers, Jun nowhere to be spotted. Mingyu catches this and bites his bottom lip in nervousness.
“Jun not working today?” You held your hand out, waiting for him to hand you your change. You grow anxious as you read his expression.
“Jun got attacked the other day, currently in the hospital recovering,” he pauses and gives you some bills and coins, “he told me to tell you that it might not work out. I’m sorry.”
***
“That makes no fucking sense!” Seokmin exclaims as you tell him why Jun wasn’t at the cafe. “What do you have to do with him being attacked? Like, I understand that it’s horrible what happened to him, but you couldn’t have known.”
You shrug, taking a seat on the chair across from your couch. You were more sad about what happened to Jun rather than him ending things between you two. You wished they caught whoever did that to him.
“Seok, maybe you should leave now. Last thing I want is for anything to happen to you while you’re here.”
He sighs, feeling sad that his best friend is probably blaming themself for what happened. “Okay, I’ll head more now then.”
You both stand as you walk him out to your door. “Text me when you get home, okay?”
“Don’t worry, I will. I’m going to stop by the convenience store first to get a snack for the ride home.” You smile and give him a hug.
“Be safe.”
The door shuts and Seokmin makes his way down the staircase and out the gate. He crosses the street safely, opening the door to the store and spotting Vernon behind the register.
“Hey Vernon!” He waves at the younger, quickly taking a few bags of chips as well as a drink and going over to the counter. “Busy day for you?”
Vernon mumbles in response, “Eh, it's so-so.” Seokmin laughs at that and pays for his items.
“I feel that, well, uh, have a great rest of your evening.” Vernon nods at the man, clenching his jaw as he watches him walk out the door.
***
You lay awake, eyes staring at the ceiling in hopes to fall asleep. After having no luck for the past hour or so, you decided to clear your head and visit Vernon.
The bell to the store rang, catching Vernon’s attention as you walked inside. Your eyes scream for sleep, but your body is wide awake. You sit at your spot by the window, staring at Vernon who has his head tilted in confusion.
“You okay?” He moves from behind the counter to sit in front of you, crossing his arms over his chest.
“No. Remember my date the other day?” He nods, remembering the jealousy in his heart. “Well when he was heading home after dropping me off, he got attacked by someone and was hospitalized. He doesn’t want to see me after that and I feel terrible.”
Your eyes drop to the table, somehow feeling embarrassed by the situation. “You shouldn’t feel bad about it. How could you have predicted he would get hurt?”
You nod your head, Vernon now telling you the same thing Seokmin did hours ago. Which reminds you, you haven’t heard from him.
You furrow your eyebrows and turn on your phone for the first time tonight, notifications lined up one after the other. Many of them had been messages from mutuals, others were from Seokmin’s friends which you found weird.
You opened Seokmin’s friends messages first, scanning over all of the texts sent to you. You gasped and dropped your phone onto the table, eyes welling up in tears as you stared at what was sent to you.
Vernon reacts immediately, pulling his chair up beside you to wrap one of his arms around you. He takes a look at your phone, a photo of Seokmin on the news, the title saying ‘Man Found Dead in Alleyway of Small Neighborhood’.
You sob silently, your world crashing down on you as Vernon rubs your back in a comforting way. “Shhh, it’s okay. I’m here.” You cry more as you lean into his touch, staining his shirt with tears.
Vernon couldn’t help but smile to himself, his plan finally working. After all these years.
“Vernon Chwe, after all those years of hard work to finally have them, why did you kill them in the end?” He stares at your mothers attorney, a wicked yet bitter smile on his face.
“Because they refused to love me after all I’ve done for them.”

a/n: things in bold are in english. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!! hi i know everyone has been awaiting this series from tftp in particular. and while i wish i could say im updating this regularly,,,,,i cannot. there’s no definite update schedule, im just doing it when i can. i wanted to wait until i had all the parts written but im impatient. but i hope you’ll enjoy this series even with the slow updates, and i hope it lives up to expectations 💜
“Where’re we going?” Joshua grumbled as he followed slightly behind Hansol and Kyung, the younger boy’s hand wrapped around hers.
Joshua was going with them to the doctor without actually knowing. Kyung knew better than to tell him before they left because she figured the grumpy werewolf would just tell her no, not really caring whether he was unable to heal or not -- even though that was very clearly a bad sign that he had overexerted himself.
Kyung thought maybe Joshua would be a little less...angry all the time once she got to know him, but Joshua was stubborn well before he’d even met her -- he was just bad at shoving his stubbornness and anger down.
“I promised I’d get my back fixed if Kyung decided to stay, and you said you’d go if I went, didn’t you?” Hansol reminded his brother with a smirk over his shoulder. “We’re gonna go see that doctor we were told about. What was her name again?”
“Minjee,” Kyung replied. “Not to sound rude but...Josh, why don’t you want to see a doctor?”
“I don’t really care if I can heal or not either way,” he replied flatly, “but I said I’d get help if Hansol did. So...here we are.”
“Here we are...” she repeated in a mumble.
Joshua simply followed the mated couple in silence as the alpha led them to Minjee’s, being the first to knock on the door. It was a girl -- as expected -- that opened the door, bowing politely to the group before smiling brightly at the darker skinned girl in front of them.
“Kyung!” she exclaimed as she gestured the three of them in. “I haven’t seen you in so long -- I suppose that’s a good thing, though. How’ve you been? Your pack hasn’t mentioned you.”
“I’m not actually in that pack anymore,” Kyung told her with a shrug, her ‘cool’ exterior coming back in the presence of an old friend. “I’m an alpha of my mate’s pack now.”
Minjee seemed impressed, eyebrows raising with a smile, “Wow, look at you. How’d the sudden change happen? Jiung must be proud.”
“He’s actually...passed away.”
The doctor’s face fell, placing a comforting hand on your upper arm, “I’m sorry for the loss of your brother.”
Kyung nodded, “I’ve been grieving, but it’s been easier with my mate. Minjee, this is Hansol, and his brother -- er, our brother, I guess -- Joshua.”
“It’s nice to meet you,” Hansol said as he nodded to her. “Our brother, Soonyoung came in before with a human girl to talk about fixing us -- I’ve got silver burned into my back, and Joshua’s the healer that can’t heal anymore.”
“Ah, yes, the healer!” Minjee’s eyes lit up as she nodded excitedly. She looked to Joshua now. “Your power still hasn’t come back?”
“No,” he replied. “I thought just resting would help but...nothing.”
“I see,” she hummed, eyeing him over before looking back at Kyung like she was their mother that took them to the doctor’s office. “I’ll do a quick look over and then see what I can do. It’s almost time for me to close up, and I have to go out of town for a few days. I won’t be able to do anything until about a week from now, but they’ll be fine until then if they’ve been fine this long.”
“That’s okay,” Hansol shrugged as Joshua replied, “No worries.”
“Alright,” Minjee breathed with a warm smile, grabbing some gloves from nearby, “then let’s get started and see what’s going on.”
-
Even though you were never careful, you wanted to blame this on shitty luck. You were too carefree and excitable, so you ran and ran and didn’t see the trap. So with you trapped under a net with little prickles that you were sure were laced with wolfsbane from how fucking awful you felt -- that was an understatement -- all you could do was wait for hunters to come find you before death took you itself. Honestly, you hoped the latter would come first.
You faintly heard footsteps coming toward you as your vision went out of focus, your eyelids becoming too heavy to keep up. You sensed a presence beside you, the body crouching down to get a better look at you.
“What do we have here?” a female-sounding voice asked, but it sounded far away and muffled to you. “Is this another werewolf?”
“I can’t tell,” another female voice replied in a sigh. “Sura, do you have any ideas?”
“Doesn’t smell like werewolf to me,” a male voice said. “It definitely is some kind of were-creature, though. This thing wreaks of wolfsbane and it’s clearly affecting her. I’d say...coyote, maybe?”
One of the women sucked in a breath between their teeth before saying, “Prajya, help me get this net off of her -- it’ll be heavy but I’m afraid to let Sura touch it.”
Slowly, you felt the weight of the net being lifted off of you. You could also feel every little barb stuck in you being pulled out, and you whimpered softly from the stinging pain that covered your body.
“Minjee, will she make it?” the second girl asked as you were lifted into warm arms.
“No,” the male replied, “probably not.”
“The house isn’t far from here,” the first girl insisted. “We just have to hurry.”
But you were out cold before they even took the first step.
-
Josh and Hansol weren’t really sure why so many people wanted to go with them into town that night for them to finally get fixed. Suvi was understandable since she just enjoyed going into town, and Soomin made sense since she was basically their resident know-it-all when it came to werewolves. However, Wonwoo wanting to tag along was weird because Wonwoo didn’t like leaving the house, much less going into town. They figured maybe it was because he wanted to make sure Soomin would be alright, but she was already going to be with two werewolves and a girl who had gone into town plenty of times. She was in good hands, but whatever made Wonwoo happy.
“Are you nervous?” Suvi wondered, looking up between Hansol and Joshua as she walked.
“I don’t know how they’re going to fix my back, so that’s a little concerning,” Hansol decided, “but I’m more excited.”
Joshua just shrugged, “Eh, not really.”
“Try not to be so excited, huh,” Wonwoo commented.
Joshua did like his power. He liked that he was able to help people with it. However, it didn’t benefit him -- as in, it didn’t make his own personal healing any better than anybody else’s in the pack -- and it wouldn’t be needed if his pack wasn’t so stupid and got themselves hurt. It wasn’t fun like Seokmin’s or Chan’s or Kyung’s, and it wasn’t interesting like Jihoon’s or Soonyoung’s or Hansol’s or Minghao’s. It was boring -- kind of like Wonwoo’s or Seungcheol’s.
Suvi was the first up to the door, knocking before she took a step back to wait. The door was answered by Minjee -- as always -- who greeted them with an almost pained smile.
“Hello,” she greeted them. “Before you come in, I’d like to apologize. My partners and I have just gotten home, and one of our patients... Well, she won’t make it.”
Now that she’d mentioned it, the wolves could just barely hear the faint, slowing heartbeat from inside the house. But they could also smell that it wasn’t the typical werewolf. It was something they’d never smelled before, but it still wasn’t completely human.
Joshua also picked up on a scent that was very familiar but also so very different from anything he’d smelled before.
“We’re just trying to ease her pain until she passes,” Minjee continued, letting the small group into the house. She turned to look at somebody else who was helping with the aforementioned girl. “Sura, could you put a curtain up around her? Prajya, I’ll need you to help me with--”
Minjee stopped when she noticed Joshua stop in the doorway, his body going rigid. His golden eyes were spotting red and locked on you, hands balled into fists.
You were dying; his mate was dying. Again.
“Josh...?” Wonwoo spoke up, placing a hand on the older boy’s shoulder.
Joshua’s thoughts and opinions on re-imprinting were out the window when it registered that the girl quickly losing her life was his mate. The only thing he could focus on was you and saving you -- but he only knew one way how.
“She’s not dying,” he stated, walking straight through the small crowd and over to you where your pulse was just a moment away from completely dying out.
“What?” Minjee asked, watching him as he approached you with a set jaw and narrowed eyes.
“I’m not going to let her die,” he said louder, letting his hands hover above your body.
Joshua was too focused on trying to somehow get his powers to come back to him that he wasn’t paying any attention to Hansol and Wonwoo’s conversation over their surprise of their brother imprinting for a second time. Truthfully, nobody thought anybody would come after Lilly since Josh was so against it. But then again, imprinting wasn’t something any werewolf could control.
Joshua mumbled to himself as he tried to will his power back. He was concentrating so hard but nothing was happening. No faint glow from his palms, no color coming back to your face, and your heartbeat was still rapidly decreasing by the second. It wouldn’t be long until it was gone all together, and then there would be nothing he could do.
“C’mon...c’mon...” he grumbled, closing his eyes as his eyebrows creased together in concentration.
“Your powers won’t suddenly work,” Minjee spoke up, watching from where she stood by his pack, wanting to give the werewolf space -- especially since she was preparing for him to be grieving for the mate he’d lose before actually having her.
“They have to!” he snapped.
He refused to lose you. If he lost two mates -- even if he didn’t properly meet or know you -- he was sure he wouldn’t be able to take it.
With his last bit of energy he had in his body, his palms faintly glowed to life, spreading a tingling warmth across your body. His healing power was starting to cleanse the wolfsbane from your system, and your heartbeat was starting to become stronger and more stable. Hearing your heartbeat louder in his ears made Josh want to cry. But he didn’t have the energy for it.
As you let out a cough and a girl with brown skin rushed over to sit you up so you could empty your system, Joshua collapsed onto the floor, knowing you were alive and would hopefully stay alive. He put his everything into saving you, and he didn’t know if that would kill him, but he knew it was worth it.

Stay Forever
Tumblr media
pairing: lee seokmin x fem!reader (told in third person)
genre: royalty!au, arranged marriage!au
word count: 2587
warnings: there are no warnings, but there is a small sword fighting scene - nothing graphic though!
author’s note: i have been planning this and stressing over this for so long, it feels great to finally post it! this is written for @ficscafe ’s royalty au drabble event! thank you @cha-lan for beta reading & editing (and writing the chan part towards the end) for me (ily lannie & this is for you!! <3), along with @minghaofilm for editing and @sanshiine for beta reading!! (thank you all so much!!)
this is based heavily off of “17″ by Pink Sweat$ ft. Joshua & DK of SEVENTEEN. The title is also from that song. You can find the whole playlist for this drabble HERE.
The throne room was large. The golden trim seemingly glowed around the ceilings, and the red velvet curtains blocked out the blinding sun from being too overbearing on one’s eyes. In the back of the room on a higher platform were two thrones: the one on the left was larger than the one on the right, and was adorned with more embellishments carved into its golden-stained wood.
Sitting in the larger throne was an older man in his early nineties; a shiny crown sat lightly on his white hair, gleaming in the sun. Next to him on the smaller throne was a woman about the same age—her hair pulled back and out of her face, the crown on her head sparkling. Sitting in the woman’s lap were two small children, both slightly above the age of ten.
The man beamed at the children, his smile bright and full of love. “Do you want to hear a story?”
The children giggled, their loud, high-pitched voices echoing off of the walls and throughout the room. “Yes, please, Grandpa! Tell us a story!”
"Well, it all started when your Grandmother and I were very young," the man began. "Before your grandmother and I met, she was living in a faraway place with your Uncle Junnie."

The first thing Seokmin noticed about sitting at the round table in the conference room was the uncomfortable surface he was forced to perch on. You'd think as a prince living in a palace that he'd get to sit on something softer or more comfortable, but no, the King had to make him sit on the same uncomfortable wooden chairs for hours, pretending to listen to any of the information that was being said to him.
"Seokmin? Are you even paying attention to what we are talking about?"
Seokmin snapped out of his daydream and lifted his head off of his palm to look up at his father.
“Oh! Um, yeah—yes. Of course, I’m paying attention.”
The King rolled his eyes but continued to catch Seokmin up to speed with the conversation.
“So, as you know, the Queen of Shenzhen—along with her son and daughter—are going to be visiting soon,” the King explained. “We are going to hold a ball when they get here. It will be used to announce a wedding.”
The Prince looked over at his father, tilted his head slightly to the left and raised his brow. “A wedding? For who?”
His father coughed slightly and glared at the younger boy, "You and the princess, of course."
With that, the King stood up and walked out, leaving his middle son to sit in the still uncomfortable chair of the conference room, staring off into space.
Hours later, Seokmin was found in his older brother's bedroom. Most of Jihoon's belongings were not in the palace anymore but in the neighboring Kingdom's, leaving the room to look as if Jihoon didn’t live there for almost twenty years.
As Jihoon was unpacking some of the clothes he brought for his stay, Seokmin and their youngest brother, Chan, sat on his bed.
The youngest patted his hand on Seokmin’s knee, “When did father say you were getting married?”
“In, like, four days! I haven’t even met the princess yet!”
Jihoon sighed, “I can’t believe he’s doing this again.”
Seokmin rolled his eyes, “Tell me about it. It made sense for the eldest sibling to go through an arranged marriage, not that any of us liked putting you through that, but why me too?”
“It’s probably because Father wants someone to be in charge here after he’s gone, and it obviously can’t be hyung if he’s living in another kingdom,” Chan looked over at Seokmin. “And I am way too young to get married–”
“When do the prince and princess arrive?” Jihoon interrupted his youngest brother.
“Tomorrow. The Queen is arriving the day before the wedding. Father says that gives us time to get acquainted with them.”
Jihoon turned around and moved his gaze from the closet he was putting clothes into and to his brothers’ faces. “It can’t be that bad to at least meet them, Seok.”
“I just don’t want to get married, hyung. I don’t know this person, and I’m only nineteen!”
“It’ll get better, hyung,” Chan started. “I mean, they can’t force you to get married.”
Seokmin opened his mouth to protest but was interrupted by a knock on the large, wooden doors of the bedroom.
“It must be time for dinner, let’s go,” Jihoon told his brothers, setting the clothes hanger that was in his hand down onto the bed, and walked towards the door.
══════ ∘◦❁◦∘ ═══════   ══════ ∘◦❁◦∘ ═══════
“So?” the youngest of the two kids questioned the older man. “Did the prince ever meet the princess?”
“Of course he did!” The man exaggerated his words for the children’s entertainment.
“Tell us that story, Grandma!”
“Okay, Okay. When the princess met the prince, she was very—how do I say this?—surprised.”
══════ ∘◦❁◦∘ ═══════   ══════ ∘◦❁◦∘ ═══════
On the day the Queen’s children arrived, Seokmin was pleased to have met the prince, Junhui, before he met the princess. The two bonded fairly quickly over their enjoyment of sports: Seokmin with sword fighting and Junhui with martial arts.
Seokmin had offered to show Junhui around the palace, their last stop being the training grounds where Junhui suggested that Seokmin teach him some sword fighting.
Seokmin quickly agreed, taking Junhui to the armory to get proper protective equipment and swords. They spent most of their time outside on the battleground, swords in hand and padded gear covering their bodies. The blazing sun made Seokmin start to sweat the more he moved to practice attacking his dueling partner.
He had easily disarmed Junhui, the elder’s inexperience in the sport evident; Seokmin took his sword and used it against his opponent. One sword in the prince's left hand, the blade behind Junhui’s neck, and the one in his right hand pointed towards his rival's chest; the edge only centimeters away from his protective gear. Seokmin smirked at Junhui's scared expression and lowered the weapons, holding his left hand out for his opponent to take his sword back.
Suddenly, the sound of clapping echoed around him, forcing Seokmin to look around his surroundings. His eyes focussed on a woman, no older than nineteen, who was applauding almost sarcastically at the display of Seokmin’s skill.
He slid his sword back into the sheath that was slung over his shoulder, the blade resting on his back. With long strides, he walked away from the battleground and towards the woman, only stopping when he was a few feet away from her, a dazzling smile on his face.
Seokmin bowed, “What can I do for you, miss?”
“Oh, today is my first day here. I was just exploring. The other people seem to gravitate towards you, you know.”
Seokmin chuckled. “Being a prince—specifically one who knows their way with a weapon—does that to you.”
The woman’s eyes widened a bit. “You wouldn’t happen to be Seokmin, would you, Your Highness?”
“I am. Were you expecting one of my brothers instead?”
“Um, not exactly,” she began. “I’m Y/N. Princess Y/N, from Shenzhen.”
══════ ∘◦❁◦∘ ═══════   ══════ ∘◦❁◦∘ ═══════
The night following Y/N and Junhui’s arrival at the palace was a ball. His father had encouraged him to host some type of gathering to announce the wedding, and at this point, there was nothing Seokmin could really do besides agree.
He had only spoken with the princess a few times; her calm and collected voice intimidated Seokmin a bit, not that he would admit to that. When introducing themselves at dinner later the night they met, she had expressed her love of sword fighting: it one of the main reasons that the battleground was the first place she explored when she arrived. Seokmin had wondered why he had never met the princess earlier in his life, especially since they both shared this hobby.
Seokmin's mother made it clear—he was supposed to dance with Y/N for most of the night. The strict woman also made sure to make it very clear:
"Do not, and I mean do not try to sneak out as your brother did. You know exactly how your father reacted to that, and we do not want to see that again."
Of course, Seokmin rolled his eyes at that. He was not making any promises.
Though, when it was time to get ready for the ball, Seokmin started to become impatient. He, surprisingly, was excited to see the princess again. He had never had someone that truly had the same love for sword fighting as he did, besides the generals and other soldiers—such as his close friend, Joshua. He couldn’t wait to talk to the princess about their mutual love of the sport.
While Seokmin was getting ready for the ball in his bedroom—with the help of his best friends, Soonyoung and Seungkwan, of course—Y/N was on the other side of the castle, Seokmin’s mother helping her with her ball gown.
The dress was beautiful; the light reflected off the golden fabric and made the small sequins on the lace sleeves sparkle. The bodice of the gown was fairly plain, the off-the-shoulder neckline showing off the golden necklace that Y/N wore. The skirt of the dress, however, was the most beautiful part of the outfit. With a slim silhouette only going out a few inches around Y/N’s feet, the skirt's fabric floated slightly above the floor.
When looking at herself in the mirror, Y/N had not failed to tell the Queen about how much she loved the dress her future mother-in-law had picked out for her.
“Even the fabric shines in the sun,” Y/N had told the Queen. “It’s beautiful!”
The Queen was not going to argue with the princess.
══════ ∘◦❁◦∘ ═══════   ══════ ∘◦❁◦∘ ═══════
The ballroom of the castle was similar to many of its other rooms. The golden trim near the ceilings glowed, and the red velvet curtains blocked the sun from reaching the room. The colorful mural on the ceiling encouraged guests to look up and admire all the small details.
Along the middle of the ceiling were three large crystal chandeliers, illuminating the room with a glow. Towards the left side of the room was a grand staircase, comparable to something out of a fairytale. The marble flooring matched the marble stairs; the steps led to a balcony that circled above the main level of the room. On the right side of the room on the platform were three thrones. They were smaller compared to the ones found in the throne room but just as elegant. Connected to the stairs was a hallway leading deeper into the castle on the next floor.
The room was crowding up fast; different people from all over the kingdom arrived at the ball to hear the surprise that the prince had planned to announce. Everywhere Seokmin looked, he saw fancy gowns and hands holding champagne flutes.
For the next while, Seokmin continued to stand at the side of the room close to the exit, greeting people as they walked in. He recognized some of the people as council members with which he and the King would have meetings. Others he recognized as villagers from the many outings he had taken to the outdoor markets deeper in the kingdom.
As he was greeting people, he began to wonder, “Where is the princess?”
Though, all of a sudden—
══════ ∘◦❁◦∘ ═══════   ══════ ∘◦❁◦∘ ═══════
“Did the prince see the princess wearing her big ball gown and—oh! Was the princess wearing glass slippers? Was she, Grandpa? Was she? Was she?!” the older of the two children began to tug on the man’s sleeve, demanding an answer that was enough to satisfy the child’s ever-growing imagination.
“Yes, sweetheart. The prince did, in fact, see the princess standing at the top of those marble stairs. I don’t know about the glass slippers, though.”
“I can promise you I would never wear glass slippers to a ball. It may have worked in fairytales, but I would have tripped over that dress so quickly,” the woman sat next to the white-haired Seokmin spoke up, patting his arm to interrupt him from continuing the story.
“What about the rest of the ball?” the other child asked. “Did the prince dance with the princess?”
“Oh, of course, he did. The prince couldn’t leave someone as beautiful as the princess waiting.”

As Y/N walked closer to Seokmin, he couldn’t take his eyes off of her. When she was only a few feet away from him, she smiled. Seokmin held his hand out to her, and she took it, coming closer to him. He moved his hands to Y/N’s waist, and she wrapped her arms around his neck, careful to not accidentally hit his crown.
“Good evening, Princess,” Seokmin’s eyes morphed into crescents as the sides of his mouth lifted. “You look beautiful tonight.”
Y/N laughed, “Thank you, Your Highness. Her Majesty helped me with it.”
“Mother. What can’t that woman do?”
As the music started to get heavier, Prince Chan yelped out from across the room. Seokmin and Y/N glanced in his direction, only to see the youngest brother hopping with his foot in his hand, face morphed with pain.
“I’m sorry!” another young guest exclaimed, her hands held out to try to stabilize the boy.
“Have I ever mentioned how glad I am that you don’t step on my feet while we dance?”
“Don’t push your luck, Your Highness," Y/N giggled, a sudden sly smirk upon her lips. "You never know what could happen.”
Seokmin and Y/N proceeded to glide  across the marble floors; their conversation continued all while the prince's heart raced.
"So, how do you feel about your first dance here in the palace?" Seokmin questioned.
"Hm," Y/N began. "I think it's going pretty great. I didn't know you could dance.”
"It's mandatory for royals to learn here," he hummed. "I've known how to dance since I was seven."
Y/N's eyes widened, and silence ensued. Suddenly, Y/N leaned forward and rested her head on Seokmin's chest, his heart beating loudly into her ear. The two stayed like this for a while until the next song played, and Seokmin spoke up once again.
"My father wants me to use this to announce the wedding," Seokmin looked down at Y/N. "Do you want that?"
Y/N hummed. "I don't see why I can't learn to love someone like you, Your Highness."
Seokmin's heartbeat sped up as he moved his hand from Y/N's waist to her chin, making her face him. He bent down, his lips centimeters from hers and—

"Ew! Cooties!"
The two elders laughed at their grandchildren's exclamation.
"Yes, kids. Cooties. Now, don't you think about doing that until you are much, much, much older, you hear?"
"Yes, Grandpa!" the eldest giggled.
"But did the prince and the princess ever get their happily ever after?" the younger questioned, pouting at her Grandparents.
"Of course they did!" Y/N told the child, running her hand through their hair.
“The end?”
“The end.”
“Oh! I guess I showed up at a wonderful time! C’mon kiddos, time for bed!”
The kids turned their heads to face the doorway.
“Uncle Jun!” They bolted towards the door to greet their Uncle, throwing quick goodnights and goodbyes before exiting the room. Junhui waved to the married couple and followed after the children.
Seokmin glanced over at his wife, shot her a wink and said, "Please, princess, forever stay with me like this."

=====
You've always called him the scarf boy. On alternating days, it was the sunshine(y) boy.
The first day you met him was actually about a week into the semester, when you glanced over to your left and saw him sitting on the other side of the lecture hall. Nothing out of the ordinary. Normally, you would’ve just looked away and carried on with your life. It’s not unusual for your eyes to wander around as you zoned in and out of the professor’s speech. That's what you get for always staying up late the night before.
But on that day, you found your eyes fixated on the boy for the next few minutes, and you watched as he whispered something to his friend. It must’ve been something funny because soon they were both giggling like fools and he smiled from ear to ear.
And it was that smile that captivated you because you don't think you've ever seen such a bright smile before.
His face was familiar. Surely you've seen him many, many times before today, you thought. And yet you couldn't place a name on the classmate.
You brought your attention back to the lecture for a brief second and then looked at your friend, Seungkwan, who sat to your left. You gently nudged him with your elbow and he spared a glance your way before going back to his notes. You nudged him again, this time a little harder.
“Hm?” He still didn’t look up from his notebook, but you knew you had his attention now.
“Do you know who that guy is?” You gestured with your head in the smiley boy’s direction, and Seungkwan finally looked up to follow your gaze.
“Oh, you mean the literal ball of sunshine that doesn't know how to shut up?” He replied in one breath.
“Huh?”
"I said that as a good thing, by the way. Or, for the most part. His name is Lee Seokmin, everyone on campus calls him a happy virus 'cause he keeps on smiling." He paused to scribble something down.
It was probably something important and you should've written it as well, but you could tell he had more to say. You patiently waited.
"I've heard that he's in the theatre club, but I'm not too sure. He's Soonyoung's friend, but not really mine."
"So he's a theatre kid, huh." You echoed quietly and Seungkwan quirked an eyebrow.
"Why are you asking? Also, I'm not lending my notes, it's your problem for not paying attention."
"I was just wondering." You answered a little too quickly but tried to divert the attention elsewhere by busying yourself with re-organizing your own notes. "And if you lend me notes, I'll bring snacks for you tomorrow." You added quietly when the professor glanced your way after shushing Seokmin and his friend.
"Deal." You heard him whisper back after a minute and his notebook slid into your vision.
=====
A few days later, you went to class early so that you could finish up a small assignment to prepare for the lesson. Once again, nothing out of the ordinary.
You sat in your usual spot — not too far in the back, but also not too close to the front. Just enough for you to see the board and sneakily hold conversations without really being noticed.
There weren’t any assigned seats, but by now, it was a convention that everyone sat in the same spot every day. The spot beside yours was always saved for Seungkwan, and the spot beside his was saved for that one kid who only showed up once a month.
You were finishing up the last few pages when a loud “HELLO” echoed in the hall and you whipped your head towards the doorway.
It was that boy — Seokmin — dressed in a soft yellow hoodie, hair slightly ruffled as if he hadn’t bothered to fix it after waking up. Around his neck was the red knitted scarf he always wore the moment the weather grew cold. (Though you swore you've seen him wear it in the middle of the sweltering summer). He smiled widely, waving to the half-empty hall and then to the professor who simply chuckled at his entrance. That smile stayed on his face the entire time he made his way to his seat.
From then on, you began to understand why people called him a happy virus.
The next day, you found yourself going to class early again, this time, because you honestly didn’t have anything better to do. Besides, arriving at a good time always made you comfortable. The moment the clock struck 8:46, the same boy appeared.
"HELLO!~"
This time, it was sung out in a (very beautiful) falsetto, and you wondered how it was even possible for him to be this exuberant so early in the morning. Waking up was always a struggle on your part.
Just as quickly as the show started, the boy shut himself up after receiving a few tired "hellos" from his classmates and took a seat.
The day went by accordingly.
Since you were little, you've always been told that something needs to be repeated at least three times for it to be considered a pattern. So you decided to go to class early just one more time. You told yourself it's so that you could see you were missing out on things. In case coming to class just in time was a bad habit. A lousy excuse, really.
You knew that you just wanted to see Seokmin again.
Sure enough — it was a Thursday that day — he came in, this time in a navy blue cardigan, but still with the same red scarf. The "hello" today was a little more subdued and based on the package he had in his hands, you guessed he had stayed up all night practicing his lines. When his greeting was met with unusual silence you looked around to see that everyone was far more focused on the upcoming test than the boy at the door. So you mustered up the courage to be the one greeting him that day and he immediately perked up, sending you an appreciative smile. His eyes remained brighter as he walked over to his seat.
You decided to come to class early every day after that.
=====
As the seasons changed, so did your classes, and you were more than happy to realize that you and Seokmin shared not just one, but two classes this semester.
Bouncing on your toes a little bit, you silently willed for the people in front of you to hurry the heck up. The narrow stairwell did no good for the congestion of students trying to get by.
You glanced at your phone again to see that class was starting in just 3 minutes and grimaced at your predicament. You knew your professor loved starting lectures right on the clock, so you were already cutting it pretty close when you agreed to help someone with their spilled drinks before you got here. But now... did these students really have to carry their gigantic project up the stairs?
You had hoped that maybe they would step aside and let you scurry your way up to the second floor — that was literally all you needed for them. However, they seemed to be far too engrossed with the fact that one of the components was coming apart in the stuffy stairwell and you let out a sigh, backing out the door.
If they won't take the elevator then you supposed you will instead.
Thankfully, the usually crowded elevator was fairly empty, and you managed to score one all to yourself. That was a win for you if only everything else had gone as smoothly as that. Your day had only started and circumstances have suggested that it wasn't going to be the best ones out there.
Perhaps, it was also partly your fault for blasting music through your headphones in the morning. That caused you to get a little lost in your thoughts on the way here, it also caused you to bump into a few unsuspecting people. Or perhaps, it was because you decided that it was a good idea to check your phone after receiving a text to hurry to class when the elevator door was closing.
But you like to think that it was maybe also his fault for stuffing his face with a bagel at 8 am in the morning, rendering him unable to clearly shout out at you to keep the elevator door open.
You looked up at the strangled noise and saw Seokmin barrelling towards you, his one free hand wildly waving at you to do something about the situation. You, just as frantic as the boy was, rushed to smash the "open" button to no avail as the door continued to close with every step he took.
He made it, much to your relief, tumbling into the lift and almost spilling his coffee onto you (another drink disaster would've ruined your day completely). You didn't have much time to congratulate him for his feat, however, because you both watched in horror as his iconic knitted red scarf — caught in between the doors of the elevator — began to tear and unravel itself.
Seokmin frantically lifted the scarf over his head and tried to pull it out of the elevator's grip while you reached down and grabbed it in an attempt to help. But all efforts were futile when the last stitch came apart, and he was left with only a fraction of what used to be his favourite red scarf. Your stomach twisted itself when you looked up and saw the distress in his eyes, his teeth biting down on his lip as if he was contemplating the best way to curse you out.
He was an actor though, and you could tell he was putting up a facade to hide how upset he actually was. His eyes wavered as he stared at the scarf, now reduced to a mess of yarn and his lips tugged into a weary smile.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to close the door on you it was an accident." You blurted out.
Seokmin didn't answer, but the elevator door dinged open as your phone buzzed with its second alarm of the day. Class was starting.
Your hand slipped into your pocket to turn off the alarm and you looked back at Seokmin, eyes begging for forgiveness. "Look, let's meet up again sometime later so I can make it up to you, okay? I promise that I'll fix this."
And with that, you sprinted away from the scene, leaving the poor boy alone with his destroyed scarf.
=====
"Let me get this straight — the elevator door closed too soon and Seokmin's scarf got caught and tore apart and now you're worried that he hates you 'cause you think the scarf is really important to him?"
You nodded.
Seungkwan sighed and rubbed his forehead, trying to return to his notes. "This reads like a fanfic someone wrote at 5 am."
"It what." You blinked and he dismissed the question.
"Nothing, nothing. Did you get his number? Any way to contact him?"
You gave him a sheepish look. "I forgot to ask, I kinda ran away."
"You ran away?"
"It was an accident okay! I was nervous. But we have a lecture with him tomorrow morning, right? I could just talk to him then."
Seungkwan raised an eyebrow. "And you'll be able to muster up the courage by tomorrow? It took you 10 minutes to even tell me what happened, what do you plan to do?"
You bit your lip and stared at the forgotten work on your laptop. "Good question, I have no idea how to make up for it. Scrap talking to him tomorrow."
You both settled into silence as Seungkwan continued on with his notes and you leaned back in your chair. All sorts of ideas ran through your mind, but not of them seemed like the right one.
Then it hit you.
"That's it!" You gasp and sat straight up again, accidentally startling Seungkwan who whined about his smudged diagram. "I'll buy him another scarf, the exact same one."
"That's a good idea." He hummed. "But how will you know which one to buy?"
"I was hoping you'd have his socials? We could do some classic investigating." You suggested.
Seungkwan's eyes lit up at that and he reached over to grab his phone. "If Soonyoung's friends with him, then they're probably following each other so... Ah! There he is. A childish username, as expected."
He gave his phone to you and you scrolled through Seokmin's profile, many were pictures of food or his friends, but you stopped at one photo that caught your eye. It was of him at a park, trying to act casual for a photo (as anyone would), but wrapped around his neck was the famous red scarf.
"Perfect." You muttered to yourself. Now all you had to do was buy that scarf and hope that it comes quickly.
Or else things would become terribly awkward.
=====
Buying that scarf turned out to be much more difficult than you thought it would be.
No matter how deep you searched on the internet or how many times you looked at the photo of his precious scarf, there was no trace of the exact same copy.
"Don't tell me it was handmade." You groaned and got up from your seat to flop onto your bed instead. You stared at the ceiling for a while, long enough for your laptop to fall asleep.
"Maybe it's a high-end brand?" You speculated quietly to yourself and rolled onto your side to stare at the wall instead.
"No... This guy eats ramen every other day in the caf, there's no way he can afford that."
You rolled onto your back once more and pouted at absolutely no one.
Why did you have to get into this situation with someone you hardly knew?
=====
The next day you went to class at the normal time to avoid having to see Seokmin when he inevitably greets the class. However, when you took your seat and discreetly glanced at his spot, it was empty. Minus Soonyoung's bag that sat there instead.
You chewed on your lip for a while, wondering if his unusual absence had anything to do with yesterday.
"Good morning!"
Your shoulders relaxed at the familiar voice and you almost let yourself send him a smile when you remembered that you were supposed to be avoiding him. You immediately stiffened and stared at your table. Seokmin didn't look your way for the entirety of the lecture, which you were almost grateful for, but it also left a sinking feeling in your stomach.
On the way out, he did end up glancing at you and you immediately turned to Seungkwan to strike up a meaningless conversation.
"Make it seem like we're busy with something, he's looking my way."
Seungkwan rolled his eyes. "I talked to Soonyoung yesterday and he brought up what happened 'cause apparently he thought it was really funny. He said Seokmin wasn't mad but didn't really know what he's supposed to be doing either."
You nodded, pretending like you were listening to him and he continued on.
"Seokmin's a kind soul, you know. I doubt he's ever been angry at anyone before."
"That just makes me feel even worse though," You whined and watched Seokmin leave the room with another classmate by his side. "And I told him that we'd meet up again but I'm not ready at all. What's he gonna think about that?"
"Then you could go up to him and say that you're still sticking to your promise, but you still need time to think about what to do. Maybe he'll tell you what he wants then." Your friend suggested, poking at your work to tell you to start cleaning up.
"I think I'm going to avoid him until I'm fully prepared. So I don't mess this up." You decided, completely ignoring Seungkwan's words and the boy sighed.
"What did I do to have such dense friends?"
=====
The week before exams was spent cramming some last-minute studying with your friends in the community library.
It's been a while since you last spoke to Seokmin.
Which translates to "you haven't spoken to Seokmin since the incident."
You ignored those worries and buried yourself in work instead. Using yet another excuse to get out of the very problem you should probably be prioritizing.
Besides, focusing on Minghao and Jun, who were bickering over who left the empty juice carton in the mini-fridge seemed far more interesting. You giggled when Minghao practically brought out photo evidence to defend his point and Jun spluttered out a shocked response after being called out. As their conversation grew louder and louder, you quickly scanned the library, searching for the librarian to make sure you weren't going to be chewed out for being noisy.
You stopped when you spotted Seokmin sitting next to Chan, who ran the dance club you've always admired. His nose was buried in a book. It was only for a brief moment — perhaps a second or two — but you stared at him from afar, taking in his sharp features and gentle smile.
When he felt your gaze on him and locked eyes with you, you immediately looked away, trying to not let him know that you saw him.
"I gotta go." You muttered and packed up your stuff, leaving behind a bewildered Minghao and even more bewildered Jun (who was still trying to recover from the previous attack).
All those days preparing yourself crumbled right in front of you. This wasn't supposed to be happening, this wasn't moving according to the plan you promised you'd stick to.
He wasn't supposed to beat you to it.
"Y/n!"
You carried on, pretending to have not heard him and prayed that he would just give up. He was Lee Seokmin though, so of course, he didn't stop.
"Y/N!" He shouted a little louder this time and you could hear his footsteps getting closer and closer, just like on that fateful day at the elevator. You took a deep breath and braced yourself for the confrontation.
"Hey, Seokmin."
To your surprise, he gave you a big smile. "Hey! 'Was worried I wouldn't be able to catch you just now. You were walking so quickly, where are you headed?"
"Oh..." Away from you. You thought to yourself, but said something else, trying to play it cool. "Nowhere in particular, just on a walk. Needed some fresh air after spending so much time in the library. It’s always stuffy when everyone’s cramming for exams." You rambled on.
"Can I join you?"
"Sure." You lied with a small smile.
You walked in silence for a while, with you leading the way, cheeks heating up with every second that passed.
"You've been avoiding me haven't you?" He finally spoke up.
The tips of your ears burned. "I wasn't trying to."
"If it's about what happened in the elevator, you don't have to worry about it." He prompted lightly and you stopped walking.
"Well, I am worrying about it." You admitted. "Because not only was that your first impression of me, but I know that scarf meant a lot to you and it was such a stupid way for it to get destroyed."
You took a deep breath and continued before he could think of an answer. "I'm trying to buy you another scarf, but I've been having some trouble finding it anywhere..." You admitted.
"Ah," Seokmin chuckled. "My grandmother made that scarf so I doubt you'd be able to find it online."
"It was from your grandmother?" You rubbed your face, thinking about all the hours spent examining the photo and struggling to find the perfect match. "I'm so sorry, that's even worse than it just being your favourite."
He shrugged. "Nah, it's fine, I got over it after that day."
You couldn't hide the look of surprise when he said that.
"To be honest, she's been trying to get me to ditch that scarf because I wore it too much. It's a good excuse to get a new one now!" He finished happily and you suddenly felt less tense.
"Your grandmother makes nice scarves, though. I never knew that there was a little design on it until, well, until it ripped. But it was beautiful! Please give her my compliments."
Seokmin let out a shy laugh. "Ah, you're talking about the little bunnies and sunflowers stitched onto it, right? I've always worn the scarf inside out because I don't know what people will think when they see it."
"What?!" You blurted out, incredulous. "They're really cute! If anyone were to hate on the cute bunnies then they're going to have a word with me." You joked, pretending to get into a fighting stance. "I would definitely wear that scarf proudly, but what makes you comfortable, of course."
"Interesting. Hearing that does make me a little for confident." He hummed. The conversation stilled for a brief second before he spoke up again. "What are your plans for the break?"
You blinked at the sudden change of topic. "Uhm, nothing much, probably just heading back to spend time with family."
"Cool! My plans are the same. How about you meet me..." He walked over to a nearby bench and planted his feet firmly on the ground. "Exactly here on the day, we get back. Does that sound okay?"
"Why?" You asked, but he was already backing away. You stepped forward, insisting on an answer but he refused to give you one and you could only nod your head in agreement.
"I'll see you then... I guess..." You called out weakly, speaking to practically no one because the boy was already on his way elsewhere.
And just like that, your conversation with Lee Seokmin ended.
====
Winter break soon arrived and left as quickly as it came.
You arrived exactly 5 minutes before the meeting time and Seokmin arrived exactly 5 minutes after the meeting time.
"Y/n!"
You waved when you heard the familiar voice and the two of you shared a warm smile despite the cold weather.
"Sorry to keep you waiting," He continued. "How have you been!"
"I've been alright, how about you?"
He replied with his own "same old, same old" and you sent him a curious look when the small talk died down. "So why did you ask to meet up today?"
"Yes! About that." His hand drifted towards his neck and he didn't even have to speak for you to piece two and two together.
Wrapped around his neck was a new scarf, the same style as the old one, but this time, it was a soft shade of pink. Embroidered along the front was a small line of bunnies and flowers, perfect for the spring that was soon to come.
You brightened at the sight and let out a small gasp. "You got a new one! Nice!"
"Yep! And," Seokmin placed something warm in your hands and you realized he's been carrying it with him this entire time. "This is for you."
You stared at the scarf in your hands. It was a lovely shade of blue. "Wh— why do I get a scarf too?"
He laughed and fidgeted with his sleeves. "You spoke so fondly of my old one, I thought you'd appreciate having one for yourself so I asked my grandmother to make an extra one."
"That makes me feel even worse!" You cried out, guilty for not only ruining his old scarf but also inadvertently making him do more work to gift you something you didn't think you deserved.
"No, please don't feel bad!" He immediately replied, eyes wide to get his message across. "She was happy to make another and honestly, I just wanted to clear things up so that we don't start off on the wrong foot, you know?"
"Thank you." You pouted, still feeling a little bad, but you wrapped the scarf around your neck nevertheless. Seokmin smiled as he watched you and you grabbed the end of the scarf to admire the handiwork.
"They have the same pattern. We're matching with each other now." You quietly noted and suddenly the atmosphere between you two grew warmer.
"I guess we are! This makes us scarf buddies now, I guess." Seokmin smiled sheepishly. "We are bound by an unfortunate incident, but I hope to turn it into something positive. We can be friends, right?"
"I should be the one asking you that, idiot." You replied with a grin. The grip you had on the scarf got a little bit tighter. "Of course we can be friends, I would love to be your friend."
The smile on his face reminded you of when you first saw him.
Suddenly, your phone went off in your pocket, signalling that it was a good time to start heading to class. So much for an easy transition back into the school year.
"I should probably get going now," You started at the same time Seokmin spoke up.
"I promised I would meet up with—"
You both paused mid-sentence before bursting out in laughter at the coincidence.
"We have a lecture together tomorrow, right?" He asked excitedly and you nodded. "We can continue our conversation later then."
You laughed. "I'll see you tomorrow, scarf buddy."
=====
The next day went by accordingly, starting with a familiar “HELLO!~” from the boy who loved to eat bagels at 8 in the morning and wear scarves in any kind of weather.
The only difference is that this time, he took the seat to your right instead of one at the opposite end of the hall. He greeted you with a smile and you happily started up a lively conversation before class started. Decorating both your outfits were your matching scarves, flowers and rabbits on the outside for the world to see.
This way, everyone could know that you guys were scarf buddies.

"Back again Mr. Lee?" Mingyu's cheerful voice echoed through the silent white halls. Seokmin smiled back at the nurse as he walked past the front desk where a bunch of other nurses were checking up on patient's reports.
Swinging his plastic bag back and forth he made his way towards _____'s room. A few patients were hobbling about with their guardians, some of the younger ones recognized him and waved happily. There were new faces too, most of them way older than Seokmin himself. There were some staring blankly at the walls, others muttering softly to themselves or nibbling on crackers from the nurses.
He passed by a familiar door where a label with the name Kwon Soonyoung was written. Deciding to pay his friends a small visit before continuing to _____'s unit, he slid the door open only to be met by a hysterical boy with brightly colored hair.
"They're here! They're coming to get me! No, no, no don't— No! Let me go!" Seokmin quickly grabbed the older boy by the shoulders and pushed him back into the room. Judging by the half-naked state of the patient, Jihoon must have been in the middle of changing the boy's clothes when the episode happened.
Soonyoung was not backing down without a fight, hitting Seokmin in the chest and almost getting away when he threw a particularly strong blow onto his captor's jaw. Tears were now flowing down the blonde boy's face as he now stopped fighting Seokmin and begged to be let out of the room.
"Soonyoung!" at the sound of a familiar voice the boy in Seokmin's arms wailed louder. Jihoon came barreling into the room with his eyes wide in panic. Being in the embrace of his lover seemed to be an effective way to calm Soonyoung down, the blonde-haired boy's cries now receded to soft sniffles as he curled up in Jihoon's arms.
"Thanks for catching him," Jihoon said when they had both finally gotten Soonyoung safely into bed.
Seokmin smiled at him, clapping the younger on the back. "You would have done the same if it was _____."
"Is she getting any better?"
The question brought a frown to Seokmin's face. Even after 6 years of being in treatment and therapy, it seemed like _____ would never get over her trauma. He shook his head and smiled sadly at Jihoon. After bidding the two goodbye he finally made his way to her room.
Her room was just a few doors after Soonyoung's. Seokmin stared at the label beside her door. Lee _____, a painful reminder of what she didn't remember He swallowed his fears and took a deep breath.
"_____," Seokmin called out as he opened the door. The girl looked up from where she was seated on the floor, her caretaker’s arms were wrapped around her frame. Tears were streaming down her face as she fought to get herself free.
“Help me, please! He’s going to get hurt! It’s snowing outside. I have to tell him to get back inside!” _____ sobbed. The boy took over holding the patient down as the caretaker bowed slightly to him and exited the room. Seokmin managed to get her to sit down on her bed instead of the floor though she was still crying.
He brought out the soup he had made before leaving for the hospital and scooped some into her mouth. Having something to eat calmed _____ down. She sat quietly as Seokmin spoon-fed her more food, her fingers fiddling with the hem of her shirt.
“Seokmin’s going to get hurt.” She murmured, making Seokmin freeze. Did she remember him now?
“What was that?” he asked gently though he was itching to ask more questions. Not once since the accident did she say his name. _____ was always blabbering about saving someone from going out into the snow but she had never mentioned a name.
Not that he didn’t know what she was talking about. After all, he was the person she had wanted to save.
_____ being in this state was his fault. If he hadn’t gone out that day, she wouldn’t have had to follow him and gotten hit by that truck. If he had even been half as mature as she was then he would have seen that going out in a snowstorm was a bad idea.
Seokmin had always been that kind of person, described as the child-like one in their relationship. It was _____ who told him to always be careful and it was always him who told her to loosen up. He thought of the process while she thought of the consequences. People had always asked her how she tolerated being with him when her personality was the complete opposite. _____ said that it was because she loved him, nothing else.
Being with him just caused her trouble. She would’ve been so much better off with someone who wasn’t Seokmin. But he couldn’t dwell on the past now. _____ needed him to be the adult this time.
“Seokmin went out in the snow.” She whispered once more. “I— I have to— save him! He’s going to get hurt!”
Had he been a little slower he wouldn’t have caught her as she fled towards the door. _____ screamed and kicked, desperate to get out of the room. With all his might, Seokmin pulled her into his arms and sank down to the floor. He didn’t let her go until her cries hushed down to sniffles. “He went out into the snow.”
It broke his heart how worried she sounded for him. Seokmin rocked her back and forth, looking up at the ceiling to not let her see the hot tears starting to pool in his eyes. He couldn’t let her see him cry. He had to be strong for the both of them now.
“He went out. Seokmin went out.” She repeated, pleading eyes looking up at him as tears fell down both of their faces. He embraced her, the ugly sobs of his regret getting stuck in his throat. “I know, baby, I know. I’m sorry.”

MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
He smiled brighter than the sun and he gave you all that you wanted. Seokmin was the living sun in your life and you couldn’t ask for more. And when he sang- you can feel your heart explode. He made you feel full, your heart swelling in the love that he gave you and the radiating smiles from him were more than enough for you to last a lifetime.
You took my heart and attracted my eyes… I want to show you myself without hiding anything
Running through the rain with him or tackling him into a cuddle, laughter can only be heard from the two of you. Giggles and bright smiles shining from the both of you, breathless kisses being shared until broken by fits of laughter.
Seokmin sometimes felt the need to run down the streets and declare his love for you to let the whole neighborhood know how much love his heart felt for you. His tears no longer had to be hidden from the world, his fears and secrets were now told to you as yours told to him. You trusted each other and came to learn and love each other’s quirks and ticks. You were there for each other and loved each other fully.
I want to pick and gather all the pretty words for you
Breathless kisses, flowery smiles, and heart sickening gazes to each other, the boys hated every second the two of you were together but were overjoyed to their friend to find and receive the sunshine that he always gave to others.
It’s breathtaking to see how much the two of you loved each other. Shared laughter, nose kisses, his sharp nose poking your eye, there was so much to say, too many words to describe your relationship.
I can’t take it no more; I’ve got something to say,
Now Seokmin was aware that the two of you have been dating for years now. The two of you knew each other like the back of your hands, but a question had lingered in his mind since the day you moved in with him.
Seokmin looked over to your beautiful figure who was simply watering the happy house plants the two of you kept inside the apartment together. He smiled brightly; Seokmin was absolutely smitten for you.
You felt his eyes on your back and you smiled gleefully before shooting him a closed eye grin at him before giggling. Serotonin was flowing throughout your body as you waddled over to where Seokmin was sitting after giving the last plant some water for the day. Placing down the mini watering can, you snuggled up to your boyfriend resting your head on his chest a wide smile blooming on both of your faces as you looked up at him. Seokmin leaned down and softly touched noses with you, soft giggles erupting from your chests at the contact.
Seokmin looked at you with heart eyes, admiring how your eyes sparkled at that moment, soaking up the energy and happiness radiating from you. He raised his hand to smoothen out the stray hairs, to which you leaned into his touch, closing your eyes to enjoy the moment the two of you were sharing. Seokmin planted a warm kiss on your forehead, before squeezing you closer to him. His question to you grew louder inside his head.
I can’t take it no more; right now, I’m gonna try
Seokmin’s chest tightened while he was walking down the city streets with you, hand in hand. His eyes lingering on a certain jewelry store as the two of you window shopped. You bathed in the Seoul sunlight, Seokmin watching you lovingly for seeing the happiness and good in everything and everyone.
While trying on hats with him and taking silly photos in the department mirrors, he couldn’t help but to cradle your face in his hands. Seokmin softly squished your cheeks together, a scrunched smile making its way onto your face causing the both of you to giggle. The two of you recreated the scene with both your phones in hand, your matching phone wallpapers came to be.
The two of you still went on dates like this even after years of being in a relationship together. Dates to the arcade or just a walk in the park was enough for the two of you. You made each other happy no matter what, each day bringing a new and precious memory to remember.
Seokmin turned to you who was gazing into the sunset, the two of you seated on a bench in the park. He was enraptured in your beauty, a taut blush forming on his face when he thought to himself that he would live to do this with you forever. His grip on your hand was firm when his question pounded in his head once more.
I can’t take it no more; I was about to write a letter
Seokmin sat silently at your dining table, a piece of paper and an open pen taunting him. The written ink on the paper stared back at him while he read over the words his heart spilled out. He felt his face heat up when reading over the question that he’d been wanting to ask you for a while now. The words teased him, Seokmin felt like a coward. Why couldn’t he just tell you already?
The door to the apartment opened, Seokmin scrambling to hide the paper as quick as possible. You sluggishly walked inside, your work bag in hand and a tired expression morphing into a smile at the sight of Seokmin and a meal waiting for you next to him. You gave Seokmin a greeting peck before hurrying your way to wash up, excited for the meal on the table.
Seokmin exhaled the breath he was holding and slowly took out the now crumpled paper out of his cardigan’s sleeve. A sigh escaped from him once he saw the fresh ink ruin the rest of the words on the page. Seokmin didn’t want to present the messy letter to you, he wanted it to be perfect just as the way he saw you. Seokmin shoved the destroyed letter into his pocket and waited patiently for you to join him at the table.
His question will have to wait for now.
I can’t take it no more; I can’t stand it
Seokmin found himself staring at you one night, the way how even in the night you were still so beautiful to him. He felt his heart swell in the love he held for you as he pulled your sleeping self closer to him. He stroked your hair, a soothing reagent which Seokmin grew to love doing to you. A smile appearing on his face when you snuggled deeper into his chest after the action.
Seokmin couldn’t believe he was able to find someone like you in a life like his. The both of you worked so hard to get where you were and above it all, you still loved each other with the same heart from when you started dating. Seokmin felt loved by you, his light, that he found himself holding back tears. He felt his chest tighten for the nth time that night, his question was at the tip of his tongue, but he bit it, not wanting to disturb the peace of the night.
Beautiful words like the lines in a movie
Seokmin smiled a bright smile at you as the two of you danced barefoot to the ballads of your time that were playing on your Bluetooth radio. He spun you around slowly, your clumsy feet not used to dancing with a partner. But even if you were to stumble, Seokmin was sure to catch you not caring how many times you softly stepped on his toes. The two of you laughed and waltzed all night in your apartment.
The words I’ve prepared overnight for days
Seokmin tucked a single daisy behind your ear before pulling you down to lay with him on the spread blanket. He cracked jokes at the different cloud shapes he spotted, enjoying how your laugh tickled his ears. The daisy flower crown you made for him sat on his head, Seokmin who sat in awe while your nimble fingers created it, wore it proudly with a smile on his face. The two of you continued to cloud watch and bathe in the sunlight of another beautiful day you spent together.
I want to say them to you tomorrow with my clenched fists
Seokmin leaned against your chest while sitting in between your legs with his arms around your torso. He listened to your steady heartbeat and relaxed to your touch as you stroked his hair, trying to help him fall asleep. Seokmin’s breathing leveled and his inner peace was restored, his racing thoughts were no longer running, and his heartrate slowed to match yours. His ears perked up to listen to you hum one of the ballads that the two of you danced to a few nights before, one that quickly became your shared favorite. Seokmin felt at peace with you, the courage needed to ask his question was filled.
You are pretty.
Seokmin stood in front of you in the park the two of you watched the sunset in and handed you your last 13th daisy, the other twelve handed out by his friends who helped him with his plan.
And with one shaky breath and you nearly in tears, he dropped down to his knee and revealed a hidden ring to you, finally asking you the question he’s been thinking about the whole time.
“Will you marry me?”

your type (pt. 4)
Tumblr media
Hey friends, hope you’re all healthy and staying safe. No real updates from me nor any recommendations. I’ve been a bit of a hermit from social media and the real world these days. Anyway, I think you guys will enjoy this part. :)
w.c. 2.1k
pairing: woozi x OC/reader
pt. 1; pt. 2; pt. 3
“What if they don’t convince her to come?” Jihoon asks Seungcheol.
“Are you worried?” Seungcheol chuckles, setting food on the coffee table. “You aren’t the type to worry.”
“We bet 100 each,” Jihoon snorts. “You sure you don’t want that money back?”
“I’m getting it doubled back.” Seungcheol waves him off. “Jihyo’s friends know how to play our game. It’s what makes her fun. So trust me, your girl will be here.”
Jihoon helps to set up the apartment until Mingyu and Wonwoo arrive half an hour earlier than everyone else. Mingyu’s their resident chef and has some last-minute cooking to do.
Once they’re done, Wonwoo and Seungcheol play a round of some video game that Jihoon doesn’t pay attention to. Instead, he sits hunched over his notebook.
“When are you going to stop working on that song?” Wonwoo asks. He leans across the couch to get a look at Jihoon’s notebook. “You’ve been working on it for ages.”
“If it’s not perfect already, hyung, it’ll never be perfect,” Mingyu calls from the kitchen.
“Will you all shut up?” Jihoon retorts. He scratches out the last line he’d written. “It’s not your grade on the line.”
“Prof only put that much pressure on you because you’re good.” Wonwoo sits back up again after Seungcheol shouts about a great penalty shot. “So, hand in whatever and she’ll give you an A+.”
“That woman would give Jihoon an A++ if she could,” Seungcheol snorts.
Wonwoo stretches his leg a little to give Seungcheol two affectionate kicks to the shin. “One day, someone will see all the potential in you too.”
The boys arrive on time and expect the girls to be an hour late like usual, but Seungcheol’s phone pings as they all start to settle in.
“Are they here already?” Jeonghan asks.
Hansol chuckles as he reaches for a chip. “Noona must be here too. She’s always on time.”
Jihoon closes his notebook and tucks it down the side of the couch, where he hides his notebooks when strangers come over. He glances up when the girls walk in loud and giggly. Hugs are exchanged, as certain girls gravitate towards certain people.
And the one person everyone is watching gravitates towards Mingyu after her initial greeting. Jihoon can hear her chatting casually with him.
“Why are you in here alone?” she asks.
“Gotta finish this for dinner.” Jihoon knows that Mingyu’s on his side for the bet, so he expects Mingyu to tell her to head into the living room.
But she beats him to the next line. “Do you need any help?”
“Oh.” There’s a pause. “Yeah, if you don’t mind.”
“Would I ask if I wasn’t offering? What do you need?”
“How are you, Jihoon?”
Jihoon pulls his attention to the person sitting beside him. It’s Wheein. She’s in his song writing class. They start talking about the songs they’re working on. While he is listening to Wheein, he definitely has his eye on the clock.
Tumblr media
She doesn’t return to the living room until they come out with food. And then she sits by Hansol and Seungkwan. The two seem thoroughly excited to chat with her about everything.
When Mingyu sits near him, Jihoon hisses, “What the hell, Gyu?”
“Sorry!” Mingyu exclaims. He reaches forward to fill his plate. “Noona offered to help and I wasn’t going to say no.” He notices Jihoon’s look of disbelief. “You guys never offer to help me.”
Jihoon doesn’t want to make it obvious by getting up and sitting with her, but as one hour passes to two without a one-on-one conversation with her, he realizes he needs to pull out the “big moves”.
In this case, get her alone and ask her what the hell is going on.
He stands and meets her eye. “You want a drink?”
She shrugs. “Sure.”
Jihoon motions with his head to follow and she nods her understanding, getting up as her team tries to discern what words Jeonghan is referring to. She trails after him and leans against the archway into the kitchen. He pulls two cans of Coke from the fridge and hands one to her.
“Did you want to talk about something?” she asks.
“I wanted to talk to you.” Jihoon turns to face her. “But you don’t seem to want to talk to me.”
“Oh.” She blinks. “You didn’t make it seem like you wanted to talk to me, so I just… gave you your space.”
Jihoon’s eyes narrow. “You know I wanted to talk to you.”
“No, I didn’t.” She pulls the tap on her drink, letting the drink fizz before speaking. “You told me to come if Seungcheol invited Jihyo over. That could have meant anything.”
“I thought it was clear that it meant I wanted to see you again,” Jihoon states.
She shrugs. “Well, I’ve been here for two hours now and you’ve hardly looked at me or said anything to me since I got here. I’m not a mind reader, Jihoon.” She sips her drink. “Surprise.”
Jihoon snorts and takes a frustrated sip. “You’re impossible.
A small smirk appears on her face, dimpling her cheek. “I like guys who like to communicate. You’re going to have to communicate if you want my attention.”
Damn, his fatal flaw. He can keep girls at arm’s length by doing the complete opposite of what she likes. But the bet’s been set. Backing out means losing, so he nods his understanding.
“So, are we going to kick Seungkwan off my team so you can join me on the other side of the table?” She lightly kicks him in the calf. “Or are you willing to lose again?”
Jihoon runs his tongue along his teeth. “I’m not going to lose.”
She chuckles as she heads back to the living room. “I think what’s happening with your team is called ‘losing’, Jihoon.”
They play games all night long. Nearly everyone gets so drunk that when Jihoon sees her struggling to rally the girls together, he suggests that maybe they ought to stay over.
Jihoon takes Wheein’s arm. “You’re not going to be able to get them all home safe.”
She concedes to that fact. Besides her, Jihoon and Hansol are the only ones sober. Hansol had informed her around hour 3 of intense drunkedness, there’s an established rule that at least two of them need to stay sober.
“We get too out of hand if we’re all drunk. Last time all of us were this drunk, we found a milk jug in the toilet and Soonyoung hyung sleeping in the tub surrounded by his own vomit.”
She passes Jihyo off to Hansol and then helps Hwasa out of her boots again. They congregate in the living room. Jihoon offers his bed to Momo, Sana and Sejeong. Jihyo, Wheein and Hwasa take Seungcheol’s. The boys pile together in the living room.
Jihoon shuts the door to Seungcheol’s room, blankets under one arm. He looks around when he doesn’t see her in the living room with the boys. He tosses the pile of blankets on Soonyoung’s stomach when he hears shuffling in the kitchen.
He finds her with her shoes on, coat going around her shoulder. “You’re not staying?” Jihoon asks.
She shakes her head as she wraps her scarf around her neck. “I don’t do sleepovers. Especially not if you’re here and sober too.”
“Oh, come on. Who hurt you?” Jihoon teases. He sees a flash of hurt cross her face and realizes he’s touched a nerve. “Sorry.” He looks over the kitchen and living room divider; Hansol is trying to shake Seokmin off to put him to sleep. Jihoon turns back to her. “Walk you home?”
She shrugs. “You won’t take a no, so bundle up.”
She slips her gloves on and Jihoon goes to grab socks and his jacket. Hansol looks over when he reemerges.
“I’m just going to walk her home,” Jihoon explains. Most of the boys have knocked out around Hansol’s feet. “Is that cool?”
“Noona’s not going to stay?”
Jihoon shakes his head.
“Okay, yeah. I should be—Seungkwan, lie down.” Hansol bats off Seungkwan’s hands from his ankles.
Jihoon is genuinely surprised she waited for him. It would have been a perfect excuse for her to duck out.
“Bye Hansol!” she calls.
“Get home safe, noona! Will you get off?”
She frowns at Jihoon. “Is he going to be okay?”
“The boys get clingy when they’re intoxicated.” Jihoon waves off her concern. “He’ll be fine.” He opens the door for her and she leads the way into the hallway.
They pick up their conversation where they had left it during the last round of Truth. Her girls love the game when everyone’s a bit drunk, and the boys definitely shared more than she anticipated. She now knows way too much about Joshua’s showering habits.
But Jihoon is the most interested in the truths about her.
“They said you have the best game,” he states.
It was the last Truth for Sejeong. “What’s something shocking that we wouldn’t believe?”
All the girls had chimed in immediately.
She throws her head back with a laugh now and presses the call button for the elevator. “I haven’t used any of my ‘game’ in a long time. So probably not anymore.”
“But at one time, you did.”
“Maybe.” She watches the lights move towards their floor. “What does that even mean anyway?” The doors open before them.
“Well, for us, it means you can get any girl to agree to go on a date with you without too much effort.”
“Hm.” She presses for the ground floor. “I guess, then… yeah.”
Jihoon cocks an eyebrow. “I’m all ears.”
“Hey, let’s keep in mind that I’ve settled before. I don’t like playing the game.”
“Even though it’s fun?”
“Maybe for you. But…” She adjusts her scarf. “I actually like the feelings and emotions and everything that comes with a real relationship. It’s not just about the sex for me.” She tips her head both ways. “But it definitely helps if the guy’s good at it.”
Jihoon chuckles.
His response gets her to crack a smile. “Anyway, the game gets boring when everyone plays it the same way.”
Jihoon agrees with the sentiment. “So, how many boyfriends have you actually had?”
“I told you already, one.”
“Your face said something else earlier.”
She pauses and then the elevator doors open. They head out of the apartment building and it isn’t until they’ve started on their way to her place that she says anything. “I don’t like playing, because I’ve been played. And I don’t count him, because…” She sighs. “How can I count someone who hurt me that way?”
Jihoon wants to ask more questions. If he can figure out how these guys won her over, he’s a shoe in to win that bet. “What made you like him? You know, if he hurt you that bad, you must have had a lot of feelings for him.”
She chews on her bottom lip and watches where she steps to avoid slipping on some of the icy parts. “I’ve only known you for a few days. Why do I need to answer this?” Her eyes swing his way. “How about you answer some of myquestions?”
Jihoon hesitates, but remembers that communication is important to her. He’s going to have to open up a little. “Shoot.”
“What about me is interesting you enough to bother?”
“That seems kinda vain, don’t you think?” Jihoon jokes.
She smiles a little with a shrug. “Maybe, but I’ve heard many mixed things about you, Lee Jihoon.” She nudges him. “Tell me why I’m worth pursuing.”
He won’t admit that the challenge of winning her over is enticing to him; he’ll lose her immediately. Luckily, she’s just his type and he doesn’t have to lie much. “You’re gorgeous, smart. New blood is always fun. I like your refreshing energy, even if your personality’s kinda harsh.” This makes her laugh out loud and he smiles. “I meet a lot of people like me, who date just to see how many notches they can get on their bedpost.”
“That’s an old analogy,” she chuckles.
“It’s also nice to meet someone who wants to love just to love.”
She grabs his arm when she feels her footing go. “Good god.” Jihoon eases her over the icy patch and then she asks her next question. “So, what makes you think I’ll play along with your game?”
“Game?”
“Oh, come now, this can’t be because you’re actually interested in me that way. You just told me that you think the game is fun.”
“We’re all looking for love, are we not? That’s the end goal.”
“And what was wrong with all the other girls you dated? I’m sure they were nice enough.”
“Nice enough is not the same as perfect.”
“Perfect doesn’t exist.” She sighs.
And then changes the conversation completely.
“What are your parents like?”
“My parents?”
“A lot of people carry pieces of their parents around. What are yours like?”
“Great,” he answers honestly. “Better than great. They’re perfect.”
She smiles at that. Jihoon can practically see a wall coming down at that statement.

I hope you will like it ♡

You curse under your breath but decide to speak up yourself and not tell them through Hoshi.
“D-don’t take the black pills! Only the white ones!”
“What?” Hoshi was helping Jun when he hears your voice. Loud and clear. He looks to your direction with confusion written all over his face when he notices it too. The pills from his box have a different color that yours. You don’t care if the others hear you or not. At least you are sure that one of them can so you don’t waste a minute and rush to the other side to collect all black pills before anyone can take them. You have no idea if this was really the right choice but something in you told you so. You have the feeling that you are doing the right thing.
As you rush to Wonwoo who has a black pill in his hand, his eyes are focused on yours as if he can see you. Although his eyes are half closed because of the poison, he raise his hand a little for you to take if out of his hand. Seeing them in pain caused your heart to ache. For a second, you stay beside him and doubt your decision. In your head it wasn’t a game anymore. As much as you tried to remember yourself that it’s just a game your friend had recommend to you, you slowly but steadily fell deeper into the story.
Hoshi’s voice pulls you back into reality so you quickly get up and help him hand out the white pills and assist them as much as possible, as someone no one can see.
After everyone who got poisoned swallowed a white pill, you watch them for a while before walking away and taking a seat a couple of tables away from them. Absentmindedly, you knead your thighs as your mind goes wild. Why two colors? This must be another test. But it’s a 50% possibility that you could be wrong. There was no hint that told you which one was the right one against the poison or maybe both are?
You panic slightly. What if it were the wrong pills? Or worse, both colors were wrong?? No that couldn’t be. There has to be a right choice. Or was it to just wait for it to be over? No. He said they would help. That narrator told you that they would help. He wasn’t lying, or-
“What are you thinking about?”
Your head snaps up to see Hoshi beside you, also sitting on a chair. After knowing who it was, you can’t help but to lower your gaze again. “I’m just worried i guess.”
The boy beside you makes an agreeing noise, gaze fixated at his friends as he folds his hands in his lap. Neither of you says a word. The room was quiet besides some soft voices, talking to the boys on the floor, saying reassuring words.
“I’m glad we have you here, helping us.” Hoshi tells you after a while. You look at him but he doesn’t meet your eyes. He doesn’t move at all. You notice how he bites on his lower lip, slightly chewing on it. He is nervous just as you are.
⋅𖥔⋅ ━━ ⋅𖥔⋅ ━━ ⋅𖥔⋅ ━━ ⋅𖥔⋅ ━━ ⋅𖥔⋅
“Have you heard that voice, Jeonghan?” Jeonghan nods at Seungcheol. “Yeah. Loud and clear as if she was right beside me when I was helping Vernon.” Seungcheol sighs and pats Seokmin’s shoulder who is sitting next to him, leaning against the wall. Now all 7 poisoned boys are sitting beside each other in one row, all against the wall. This way it is easier for the others to assist them in for example giving them water.
“Your nose isn’t bleeding anymore. The pill seems to work, ” Woozi says to Mingyu who is half smiling with closed eyes. “I feel a bit better though.”
Joshua’s head is resting on Jun’s shoulder as Seungcheol fans air at him. Previously he told him that he was feeling hot. Maybe because of the pain and the sweat. “I can’t believe i got poisoned. That’s a newbie mistake.”
“Thought you were clever,” Wonwoo jokes and suddenly Joshua has enough energy to look up to glare at him. “I’m sorry to correct you but I am.”
“Whatever guys.”
Jeonghan grins and shrugs. “Guess y’all have to listen to the maknae.”
“Wow, what a time to be alive.”
“Shush Seokmin.” Vernon smiles tired.
“Well, seems like y’all are fine again if y’all are able to talk like that.” Jeonghan snorts and helps Wonwoo with the water.
While the others feel better slowly, two of them inspect the reason of the chaos. Seungkwan and Minghao stand beside the long table and he holds a small plate with traditional sweets. Everything looks normal. Seungkwan wonders if the poison was sprinkled onto the food. With a fork, he pokes the fried chicken.
“They could have used it to make the food or use the poison as a ‘special finish’,” Minghao states, now holding the bowl with Japchae. Seungkwan nods and looks at the others with a sigh. That’s when he notices Hoshi sitting in the back, seemingly talking to himself.
⋅𖥔⋅ ━━ ⋅𖥔⋅ ━━ ⋅𖥔⋅ ━━ ⋅𖥔⋅ ━━ ⋅𖥔⋅
“Can I ask you something?”
Hoshi’s sudden voice makes you jump a little since it was rather quiet between the two of you. “Uhm, sure.”
“How did you know that the write pills were right and will help?”
“Uhh..” you have no answer to that. Fidgeting with the hem of your shirt, you look at the boys, avoiding Hoshi’s eyes on you. There is no denying the fact that it was just a feeling. That you weren’t 100% sure. “I… felt like it has to be. I’m sorry. It could have ended up very badly but you still listened to me.” The blonde boy beside you doesn’t react so you turn your head to him, catching him shake his head. “It’s okay. Everything’s fine. We shouldn’t think about what could have happened when they feel okay again. It worked and that’s all that matters.” You feel a little better hearing those words from him. Your intention was to help and nothing else.
“Thanks.”
Hoshi is about to say something when you see Seungcheol helps Wonwoo to walk over to where you are sitting with Hoshi. Wonwoo wipes off the sweat from his forehead with a white scarf while the other arm is wrapped around Seungcheol’s neck.
When they are nearly right in front of you, you get up and want to step aside when you hear Wonwoo’s voice that makes you stop in your tracks. “Where are you going?”
Swallowing, you look into his cat-like eyes. Seungcheol has a confused expression on his face. “What do you mean? Hoshi’s sitting there and not moving at all.”
“I don’t mean him. I mean her.”
Your eyes widen and that’s when you realize that Hoshi joined you earlier as well. Without seeing you? Automatically, you turn to Hoshi, pointing your finger at him. “D-do you…. also?” You blink at him for silently explaining what you are talking about.
He understands right away. “Yeah.”
“Since when!?”
“When you helped with the black pills.”
“And you??” You point at Wonwoo.
“Earlier. When it became dark in the room. But just for a second. And then.. again when you helped us.”
“W-wait. You are seeing the ghost!?” Finally Seungcheol joins your conversation, eyes wide when the realization slowly sink in.
Your mouth is slightly open. Why are you scared all of a sudden. Furrowing your eyebrows, you try to find words to form a sentence. To explain the situation.
Suddenly it was dark.
⋅𖥔⋅ ━━ ⋅𖥔⋅ ━━ ⋅𖥔⋅ ━━ ⋅𖥔⋅ ━━ ⋅𖥔⋅
When you open your eyes, you are lying on the cold floor. Groaning, you push yourself up with your hands so that you are sitting. Looking around, you can’t see anything but it seems empty. Where are the others? Why are you alone?
A faint sound finds its way to your ears. A whimper?
Your body feels heavy but you manage to get up. Where are you and what is that sound? Stumbling a few steps forward, the sound gets louder. It is a whimper.
“Who’s that?” You ask into the empty room. It seems as if it comes from the next room.
“It’s going to be alright. Don’t worry. It’s… going to be alright.”
“R-really?”
Someone was crying. Continuing to walk towards the voices, your breathing quickens. What the hell is happening? Why are you trapped in a dark room all by yourself. Why is someone crying and the strange feeling that it is someone you’ve been with just a moment ago makes you feel bad. You feel hot and cold at the same time when you hear voices again.
“Why don’t you say something? Open your eyes!”
Tears are filling up your eyes. They are indeed familiar voices. “Hey! What is happening!? Are you alright???” Your shouting voice fills the room and the echo hits you. You feel small and helpless. Without noticing, tears start to roll down your cheeks.
Out of nowhere a deep voice appears and startles you, causing your breathing to hitch.
“Seems like you care a lot for them. You forgot what I told you, mh?”
With your palms, you wipe the tears off your face and ball your fists, ready to fight whoever and wherever that narrator is. “Your mission was to just make it out alive. With no bond.” He pauses and your shoulders drop. You are alive. But are the others? And what about the bond? You didn’t bond with them, do you? You still know that it is all just a game and not real- “And you failed.” “I didn’t fail!” You are quick with your reaction. Your courage to contradict surprising you as well. You feel offended all of a sudden. You did everything you could and the boys even felt better with the pills. You didn’t fail.
“What about your tears?” Your breath hitches again. “You care for them.”
“B-but-“
“Controlling emotions isn’t an easy task, I’ll give you that. Actually I’m a little sad. I wanted to watch you a little longer. Too bad.”
You stand there, staring into the darkness while the crying in the background becomes more and more less audible.

“God, my head..” You cough and whine before opening your eyes. You feel something over your eyes. The VR glasses! Are you back in your living room? Hesitantly, you grab it and pull it off your head, rubbing your eyes and adjust to the light. It is dark in your room. The only light comes from the tv which shows you the cover of the game. Seeing it makes your heart ache.
“They look so happy… I wonder how they are… wait. Don’t be stupid. They are just characters in a game!” You never fell for a game like that and catching yourself to actually think it’s real makes you even more embarrassed. You turn around and want to go away but something makes you stop in your tracks. Turning to the tv again, you look at the cover. Your eyes roam over the picture of the 13 boys.

What are you going to do?
Start the game again OR let it be?
You can decide.

a few dollars
who?: seokmin x reader(f)
word count: approx. 1240
prompt 1 for @svtwritenight “write about a simple deed having wildly unexpected consequences”
a/n: this got a little out of control, but whatever. i did also have this written way earlier, but work.
Tumblr media
You rummage desperately through your purse for that last $1.70 you swore you had. Casting a glance over your shoulder, you can see the growing queue and its restlessness. The work rush could be exceedingly volatile. You sigh, withdrawing your hand - some old receipts and purse fluff.
"Scratch the chai. I'll just have the quiche." You say with a limp grin.
One of the more regular employees, Yeri, smiles sympathetically. "Sure, just the quiche. That'll be $4.30 - do you want it warm or-"
"I'll cover the rest!"
The voice comes from just behind your head. Seokmin. One of the guys in the dispatch department and quiet object of your affections since he transferred from the west office a few months ago. He takes the same lunch breaks as you - a difficult time of restraint everyday. He steps up next to you, pushing his money across the counter.
"Seokmin!" You say loudly. This gets Yeri's brows up in her fringe - yes, everyone knows about your crush. "You really don't have to - thanks!"
He shrugs, a classic sunny smile lighting up his features on that dreary morning. "I don't mind."
"One quiche…"
"Warm, please." You finish shyly.
"Okay, warm and a regular vanilla chai latte, one sugar. That'll be $8.10. Thank you, have a nice day!" Yeri clarifies, winking cheekily.
You stand aside with your receipt, watching as he orders too, dropping a joke or two. At one point he pulls out his phone, showing Yeri something. Seokmin even waves as he departs the line to stand back next to you. His business casual shirt, blazer and trousers cheats his ankles and his briefcase is soft and worn. You try your best not to stare at him for too long.
"Thanks again."
"Like I said, I really don't mind. It's a dollar - I probably won't miss it." He replies.
"Alright then. Hey, how are you finding Suho? I heard he totally stuffed up the department's system for the whole afternoon on Friday!"
Seokmin laughs. "If it isn't that, it's the coffee machine! But he's really good. Other than not being… technologically versed, he's perfect to take over from Baekho."
You chat about office gossip and goings on as you wait, jolting as you hear your order called. Picking up your coffee, you find something weird on the order label.
For: y/n
His number is xxx-xxx-xxxx
Served by Yeri
You shoot a glare at the cashier who doesn't get a chance to look at you due to morning rush. The young man in question is called next and you rush to hide the information. He scoops up his dark coffee from the wood counter and glances at you expectantly.
“Want to walk together?” Seokmin asks.
You grin. “Of course.”
The paper cup sits on your desk for the next two days, empty and forgotten between rude and difficult client emails and stock paperwork. Until Thursday when Jihyo walks past your desk, hand in hand with her boyfriend and then proceeds to complain at lunch that she’s sick of you looking all moony-eyed at Seokmin from across the lunchroom. He even catches you at one point, and you hastily gear your attention to your lunch, lettuce and cucumber suddenly very interesting.
“Can you do something? Say hi?”
You push around bits of cucumber in your side salad. “We do say hi - you’re just never looking.”
She nudges your elbow. “Go on. Sit with him. Try it.”
Your cheeks burn as you duck your head and whine, loud. “In front of everyone? No way!”
You’re glad that Nayeon and Soojung are on their roster day off or you’d be harassed three times over and chased clean out the room. They were relentless, lovingly pushy and infuriatingly teasing. You rock your ankles on the edges of your heels to avoid her.
The, like a cartoon light bulb, your brows shoot up and your shoulders relax.
You have his number.
“I-I’ll sort it, Jihyo. Don’t worry.” You grin. “In fact, if I do, by the end of the week, you owe me $20.”
That would be enough for next week’s morning coffee runs. She gave you an incredulous expression, leaning back in her flimsy plastic chair to cross her arms. There was a reason she was the department team leader.
“Alright, you’re on. If you chicken out though, I get that $20.”
She holds a manicured hand out for you to shake firmly. Deal.
You sit at your desk late that night to cover off the inventory report, your phone sitting heavily in your hands. Back to rocking on the tall ends of your heels. You glare at the number printed on the old cup, willing it to do the hard work for you. It was just a weekend coffee session. Yeah. No big deal.
But what if he said no? Worse - explicitly turned down your interest in him? Even worse than that - nicely, the way Seokmin always does? You snarl at the screen like an animal and shake out your shoulders. Do it!
Your typing is swift and furious as you enter his number in, then a loose text. That eventually gets a little messy as you try and explain yourself, as if you have to.
To: Seokmin (Dispatch)
Hey, it’s Y/N!
I got your number from your work email lol
Just wondering if you felt like a weekend coffee run sometime?
Whatever suits!
Why did you have to lie and say where you got his number? Like he wanted to know. “Whatever suits”? No.
To: Seokmin (Dispatch)
Hey Seokmin, it’s Y/N!
How do you feel about a weekend coffee run?
“Send.” You huff.
You throw your phone away from you, as if you’d been burned. It lands with a clatter, screen down so you leave it at that, turning your attention back to the suddenly far easier inventory report. Well, at least you had $20 bucks waiting for you tomorrow? Happy friday.
You miss your phone light up with the reply, let alone see it, buried under a few spam messages from your mother about your father’s birthday. Then messages from your sister complaining about how your family isn’t talking about hers. It’s not until about halfway to the bus stop - ironically in front of your usual coffee place - that you see it.
From: Seokmin (Dispatch)
Sure! Weekend coffee session sounds great.
Saturday or sunday? (I’m good with either 😋)
You bite your lip to stifle a squeal, doing a happy stompy dance on the sidewalk. Resting on your hip in the alcove of the closed cafe, you type your reply.
To: Seokmin (Dispatch)
Let’s pick saturday?
How’s 9:30? Too early?
From: Seokmin (Dispatch)
Perfect! Date set ☕
To: Seokmin (Dispatch)
My treat then 😊
Date set? He’s gonna give you heart palpitations before you’d even hung out!
You show Jihyo the conversation on Friday, triumphant. “See? Told you I’d sort it. Pay up.”
She gapes like a fish before grinning. “Fair’s fair. I’m really proud of you though. You will be telling me everything after.”
“Yes mum.” You reply flatly, plucking the money from her grasp. “And you just paid for it.”
Jihyo laughs, tugging you to a lunch table exceedingly closer than usual to Seokmin and his friends. Seungkwan smirks at you first, Seokmin following his sight to catch you looking again. You smile now, watching him return your little wave.
All from a few dollars. Huh.

‘Letter 355’ was written in big letters on the front of the envelope. You sat on the bed as you tore the sealed flap open. Vernon has been writing you small notes ever since your 6th year anniversary. This is the first real letter you’ve gotten because before, it was simple post-it notes, and as your 7th year together approaches, you can’t help but wonder what he has planned this time.
You took out the paper, unfolded it and scanned his messy handwriting. You smiled as your fingertips touched the ink on the paper. You began to read:
Ma Belle,
I hope you will have a wonderful day today. Are you surprised you’re getting a letter instead of a post-it note? You probably are lol. Anyway, I just wanted to say I’m sorry for the messy handwriting, I had to leave early this morning and didn’t have time to write neatly, or spell correctly so if you see some typos, you didn’t (cue the clown emoji).
Also, a heads up, I may be returning home late due to the guys wanting to hang out, so if you need me, call me. And yes, I’ll text you if I have to stay at one of their apartments and I’ll text you when I leave. I know the drill ;)
Please be safe today, and you know MY drill don’t you? It’s the exact same thing I said above, HA! So, text me when you leave the house and when you arrive at work. I can’t wait to see you again (even though we live together). I love you Ma Belle. Just 10 more days!
Love, Vernon
You smiled at the nickname he had given you as you felt the familiar rush of fireworks erupt in your stomach, hugging the letter close to your chest. You couldn’t believe how lucky you were to have a man like Vernon. He took time out of his day for almost a year just to write you a letter every morning so you could wake up happy. He is an absolute crazy man for doing this.
You folded up the letter and carefully placed it back in the envelope. You went to your desk, grabbing the photobook on the shelf and opened it, seeing where you kept all his notes for the past year. You flipped to a page and inserted the letter in an empty slot. You closed the book and placed it on the shelf once more, looking at it as you thought about how he was capable of doing something like this for a whole year, who knows what he has planned for your anniversary.
~
Vernon has a lot planned actually. He is going to keep writing you letters every morning before he goes to work, but on the day of your anniversary, it’s going to be a little different and he couldn’t wait for that day to come.
He walked alone, glancing into the stores that he passed as he waited for the call. He turned around and began to head back to where he came from before, feeling the buzzing of his phone. He looked at the screen and answered.
“Hey Shua, are you guys done?” He bit his lower lip a bit, hoping they got what he had asked for. He heard his friend sigh on the other end of the line.
“Hell yeah we got it.” Letting out a breath of relief, he nodded as he listened to Joshua tell him to return back to the car so they could go and eat. Hanging up, he walked quickly back to meet up with his friends.
He could not wait for the day to come.
//
You saw ‘Letter 360’ taped to the refrigerator when you reached the kitchen to prepare yourself breakfast. You had only received small notes like before ever since ‘Letter 355’, so you were a bit taken aback because you simply thought that he wrote a long letter due to his busy schedule that day. You weren’t sure what to expect of this though as he told you the night prior that he would be home before dinner.
You tore the flap of the envelope and took out the paper, quickly unfolding it as you began to read his messy handwriting:
Ma Belle,
Did you sleep well last night? I hope so because then I’ll feel bad for not being able to be there with you to make you feel better :( But!!! I hope this will make your morning a bit brighter if it wasn’t already. Inside the microwave are some pancakes that I made Mingyu bring for me because I would’ve burnt them. But they’re probably cold so you have to heat it up. There were 4 in total but I was hungry and ate one hehe.
Anyway, I’ll see you in a few hours, Ma Belle. Stay safe at work and text me! I love you!
Love, Vernon
You felt the warmth creep up in your chest as you grinned, rereading the letter again. Although this made you incredibly happy, you couldn’t help but think about what you could do better for Vernon in this relationship. You never want him to feel as if he was the only one putting effort.
After making a quick decision, you put the letter back in the envelope and brought it to your room, placing it in an empty slot of the photobook. You went back out to the kitchen and heated up the pancakes Vernon had mentioned, deciding that you will make a small trip to the store after having breakfast.
~
Unknowingly, you walked down the same path Vernon had the day he went out with his friends secretly without telling you. You passed multiple stores as you racked your brain for some sort of idea on what to get him. You already had your anniversary gift planned out for him, but that’s a secret that you have been keeping from him since day one. You just hope he doesn’t go searching for the photobook.
You walked slowly, glancing into stores to get some sort of idea before stopping in front of a jewelry store. You hesitated knowing that Vernon never wanted you to spend so much money on him, but look at where you are. You decide to tell him it’s an anniversary gift instead of just giving it to him tonight so that way he wouldn’t get mad at you. Yeah, that’s a better plan.
As you enter the store, your eyes immediately go to the locked glass cases of beautiful jewelry. Maybe you should’ve thought this through because you had no idea what to get him. Looks like guessing is the best bet for you.
//
You made it home from work just before Vernon got home. Quickly, you went to your room and took the box out of the bag and placed it behind the photobook. You disposed of the bag, making sure that Vernon wouldn’t spot any evidence of the fact that you spent a lot of money on him.
You were now in the kitchen, looking to prepare something for dinner before the front door opened with your boyfriend coming in with bags in his hand. You smiled and quickly met him at the door, grabbing a few bags before kissing his cheek.
“You bought dinner? I was planning to make something for you.” He smiled warmly and led you to the dining room, placing the bags on the table. He quickly kissed your cheek before holding one of your hands.
“Ma Belle~” The teasing sound of his voice echoed in your ears as you smiled widely, shying away a bit before you felt the tips of his fingers move your head to face his again, “You don’t have to cook for me tonight. Let’s just relax and enjoy the food I bought, how does that sound?” You stared into his hypnotizing eyes, the warmth in your chest rising as you nodded your head with a smile.
“Okay! Let's get some plates!”
//
You woke up to an empty bed, confused as to why Vernon wasn’t next to you. Sitting up straight, you looked at your night stand, searching for the familiar post-it note or envelope. You thought that maybe it was something similar to the letter 5 days ago where you found it taped to the fridge.
You stretched out your arms, yawning in the process as you heard your phone buzz on the table. Unplugging it, you opened your messages and spotted a familiar name. Boo Seungkwan.
‘You home?’ You didn’t know why he was texting you at this time, he was usually asleep. And he knows that it’s your anniversary with Vernon today, so you were confused as to why he was asking if you were home.
‘No. I’m with Vernon.’ Obviously you lied to try and get out of any sort of event he may have planned just so you can eat a small breakfast and get ready for the day. You just have to find Vernon’s note.
‘Bullshit. I’m with Vernon right now.’ Your eyes widened, a scowl appearing on your face as you questioned why Vernon was with Seungkwan instead of you. ‘Why are you with Vernon? Where are you guys?’
On the other side of the phone, Seungkwan was panicking. He knew that you weren’t with Vernon because Vernon was with Joshua setting up everything for your anniversary.
He looked around the room, thinking of an answer to come up with before Chan walked in, “Seungkwan? What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be distracting them for Vernon?” He tossed his phone to the younger, eyes filled with fear and uneasiness. Chan read the messages and laughed, “Vernon will kill you if you don’t pull this off. Good luck!” Seungkwan groaned as he decided to just show up at your home and keep you occupied.
You stared at the messages, expecting him to answer but received nothing. You sighed and just locked your phone, mind now set on looking for the letter. Every step you took to look into a room, your fingers were crossed in hopes that you would find any sort of evidence that Vernon has left for you. Plopping onto the couch, you thought that maybe he just forgot to write today, but it didn’t make sense since he wrote everyday for a whole year without forgetting. Even in previous letters, he would count down the days until it was your anniversary. It just didn’t make any sense.
You heard the doorbell ring, an ounce of hope in your heart as you thought that it could be Vernon. He has a key to the house. You sighed and got up from the couch as you went to the front door, unlocking it with a click and opening it.
Your eyes met Seungkwan’s and it immediately turned into a glare. “I thought you were with Vernon, hm?” He grinned sheepishly and scratched the back of his neck.
“I lied.”
“I can see that.” You stepped to the side, making way for him to enter your house. You watched him sit on the couch as you closed the door and locked it. “What are you doing here, Seungkwan?”
“Uhm— Did you eat breakfast?” You saw his hands wipe down against his jeans, a nervous habit he had that you picked up on throughout your years of friendship.
“No I didn’t. And you avoided my question—”
“You haven’t eaten?” He stood up abruptly, determined to keep you distracted until lunch time, “Come on, lets cook some breakfast for you!” He turned towards the kitchen with you following closely after him after rolling your eyes and just letting it slide, thinking that maybe Vernon put him up to this.
//
Seungkwan sighed in content after finishing up his food, his eyes moving to meet your hard ones. “Seungkwan,” His eyes went to look around the room, just as long as they weren’t at you, “Seungkwan, stop avoiding eye contact.” He looked back at you, his lips pursed and throat feeling dry. “I have so many questions, but I won’t even bother at this point.” You shook your head and took your plate and his, bringing it to the sink and began to wash them.
As you were washing, you heard your name fall from his lips, “I can wash them, you have to go get ready.” Your head shot up, eyes looking to the side but your head staying in place.
“Get ready how? Where are we going?”
Seungkwan got up from his seat and stood next to you, “Don’t play dumb. Do you want your letter or not?” Your eyes lit up, nodding as you turned off the water and quickly went into your room to wash up and get ready.
“Thank you Seungkwan!”
//
You sat in the car with the radio gently playing in the background. A comfortable silence fell upon you and Seungkwan, who was in the driver's seat. You remembered to bring your gift as you looked at the large bag sitting on the floor between your legs. You checked the time on your phone, seeing that it was almost lunch.
“Wow, if Vernon planned a lunch, I’m glad you ate most of the breakfast food.” You out the window, giggling with Seungkwan.
“That was the whole point of me eating all the food. I had to keep you busy for a few more hours.”
You sighed and nodded your head in understanding, turning your head to look at the side of his face, “Where are we headed to anyway?”
He glanced away from the road to look at you for a split second before lifting up his hand, his pointer finger placed on his lips as he made a ‘shh’ sound. “It’s a secret.”
“Well can you tell me if it’s far? I kind of want to take a nap.”
“Go for it, but don’t get mad when I wake you up.”
//
Your eyes fluttered, feeling the cool breeze against your skin as goosebumps rose. You opened your eyes, seeing your boyfriend standing next to you with the car door open. He flashed his gummy smile, holding his hand out for you to take, “Ma Belle~”
You looked down at the floor as you placed your hand in his, stepping out of the car with your bag and present in hand. “Where have you been Vernon Chwe?”
You smiled cheekily at him to which he shrugged with a teasing smile, “I’ve been doing things.”
You began to smile, looking at your interlocked fingers as he led you to a familiar area. You scanned the place, seeing the light of the sun reflect off the little lake that you knew all too well. Your hand tightened in his grasp causing him to stop walking and to turn to look at you, “What’s wrong?” You pouted, puppy eyes boring into his as he smiled softly.
“You took me here? I thought this place became private property and people weren’t allowed to be here.” He laughed softly and brought up his hand, placing his pointer finger against his lips.
“Shhh, we’re not.” Your eyes widened as you hit him with your bag and he laughed, “I’m kidding, I talked to the owner and they were fine with it, come on, let’s go.”
He brought you over to a picnic setup, the tall tree providing you shade that can cool your down from the scorching sun. You both sat down on the blanket, looking out to the lake with the mini table in between. You sighed in content, your eyes never leaving the shining lake, “Vernon this is incredible. I’m so happy you were able to get us in here.” You looked over at your boyfriend, a smirk on his face as he held up the missing letter.
“I know you’ve been wondering where the final letter was but I don’t know if I want to give it to you just yet.” You rolled your eyes, crossing your arms. “You have to eat with me first and then I’ll give you the letter, okay?” You smiled and nodded your head happily, the thought of what could possibly be in the letter consumes your mind.
//
You finished your food with a toss of your napkin to the plate, your eyes immediately going to Vernon who was laughing softly. “I know what you’re going to ask, but first let me open my gift, please?” He pouted in which you rolled your eyes in response.
“Fine.”
You handed over the bag, biting your lip out of a nervous habit, watching him take out the tissue paper and spotting the box and photobook. He took out the photobook, looking at you with an unsure expression before opening it. Raising his eyebrows, he found every note he has written to you, and next to it is a note you have written in response.
He took a deep breath, flipping through all the pages, trying to be as slow as possible just to tease you, but no luck, “Vernon you can read it at home.” You whined next to him as he slightly glared at you,
“Hey, I just want to appreciate you.” Still, he listened and put the photobook back in the bag and then took out the box. He opened the top carefully and stared at the piece of jewelry laying inside.
He head lolled to look at you, another pout on his lips, “I told you not to buy me anything expensive.”
You giggled and nodded your head towards the bracelet, “Dig a little deeper Vernon,” He rolled his eyes at your remark of quoting the song before taking out the chain. He turned the small heart-shaped charm over and found your name next to the words ‘Your Evangeline’ engraved in it.
His grip on the chain loosened as he handed it to you, holding out his arm, “Put it on for me?” Quickly you wrapped it around his wrist and locked it in place, beaming with happiness. “I love this, I just— it’s beautiful.”
“Can I read the letter now?” He sighed in defeat as he failed to stall everything a little while longer.
“Way to ruin the sentimental mood.” He handed you the letter, watching you bounce in excitement as you prepared to rip it open.
“Wait! Read it up there, next to the lake. Pretend I’m not here, like how you would read any letter in the morning, okay?” You nodded standing up and scurried over to the lake, thinking about how weird it was that he asked you to read it at this spot. The thought left your mind the second your eyes scanned ‘Letter 365’. Your heart pounded in your ears as you ripped the flap open and pulled out the paper. You began to read:
Ma Belle,
Happy 7th year Anniversary! Can you believe it has been seven years we’ve been together? It feels so amazing. I’m sorry you had to read this through a letter, but I feel like writing it out conveyed my feelings better than when I just wing it. So, I hope you prepare yourself because this is going to be a ride full of cheese and cringe.
I remember our first date here. It was very cheesy and seemed too extravagant for a first date, but we have known each other for a few months before I asked you out, so I call it a success. Anyway, I’ll never forget the look on your face when you saw the little fairy lights light up just at the snap of my finger. You said it looked like fireflies and reminded you of Princess and the Frog. Anyway, getting back to the point, the point is, this little lake holds a place in my heart because it was all those months of me silently pining after you to finally be able to take you here, it made me realize that I love you. And I want to spend the rest of my life with you.
Oh! Which reminds me of our first here, when we danced to the soundtrack of the movie. It’s random, I know but I don’t think you remember that. You probably won’t remember me proposing to you either, would you? Turn around Ma Belle :)
You slowly turned around, the blanket and picnic table gone, all that’s left in front of you is Vernon down on one knee holding up a small box displaying a beautiful ring. The arm holding the letter drops, your free hand coming up to slightly cover your mouth now agape. From his shaky hands to his beaming smile, the love you had for the man in front of you intensified.
He cleared his throat and took a deep breath, “So, do you remember now?” The water in your eyes that have been threatening to spill finally let go as you nodded your head, “Ma Belle~” That damn grin on his face made your knees shake, “Will you be my Evangeline and marry me?” Your legs collapsed, your knees hitting the grass as you hugged Vernon tightly, whispering ‘Yes’ into his ear.
The amount of love you felt in your heart took over as you cried silently against him. He pulled away, laughing softly as he wiped your tears and brought your hand up, slipping the ring onto your ring finger. “Hansol Vernon Chwe, no wonder you wanted to open my gift first.”
He shrugged, looking into your eyes with that same teary smile before leaning in and placing a soft yet meaningful kiss on your lips. In that magical moment, you knew that this is all for you; he is all for you and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

13 Days of Christmas (Lee Chan)
Happy holidays from Erin and me, and thank you for enjoying what our single brain cell manages to come up with! I’ll edit this after work and gif creds to the owners
Word count: 1727
Tumblr media
“Gather ‘round everyone,” Junhui said, holding out a Santa hat upside down. “Gather ‘round! It’s that time of year again!”
“You’re finally going back to China,” Minghao quipped, not tearing his eyes away from the article on his phone. “It’s about time too.”
“If I’m going back, you’re coming with me dummy,” he retorted with a roll of his eyes. “Okay, so in this Santa hat are 14 names. You will each pick one name from here and you will be that person’s Secret Santa.”
“Secret Santa’s boring,” Jihoon jeered. “Not everyone can keep a secret.” His eyes flickered to the three idiots on the floor giggling at some video Soonyoung swore was funny.
“Hey,” Seungcheol whined from the kitchen sink, “I was almost there. It wasn’t my fault Chan left his present in the closet.”
Your ears perked up a little at the mention of Chan’s name, but you kept your gaze on your phone, wanting to break your current high score. You already knew you wouldn’t pull his name whether Secret Santa happened or not. But you knew they’d go along with Jun’s plan just because he suggested it. The more uninterested you looked, the better.
“I think it’s a good idea,” Mingyu said, drawing a diagonal line on the tic-tac-toe game he was playing against Chan. He immediately started a new game.
“Y’all hear something?” Seungkwan broke his attention away from the little screen. “It sounded...annoying. Oh hyung! It was just you! Can we hear what the more important ones have to say?” He swatted his hand at the flying pencil which ended up hitting Soonyoung, who then decided his audience didn’t deserve to see the video so he exited the app and sat on the couch, which ultimately distracted you and made you lose your game, which upset you too.
“This better be good Wen Junhui.” You could feel your nerves already hitting overdrive.
“Always the grinch, aren’t we Y/N?” he teased you, holding the hat out to you. “Since you look like the most excited one here, why don’t you go first?”
“Nothing would make me happier.” You crunched down on the candy cane in your mouth, savoring the minty taste (but also knowing you’d need some sweet ones too) before reaching into the hat and pulling out a slip of paper. You had your hopes and your expectations. The odds of getting the boy you wanted was one in thirteen. You didn’t mind having the other boys but maybe you just wanted the opportunity to buy something for him without having to look weird. You unfolded the scrap and read the name.
Junhui.
“Did you get yourself?”
“No,” you shook your head.
“Then my work here is done. He made a show of running back and forth between the members so everyone would have a fair turn, and everything was running smoothly when he asked Seokmin, “Did you get yourself?”
“No, I got Minghao.” And the next thing he knew, everyone was pelting him with whatever they could get their hands on. “I’m sorry, okay? Hey, that one hurt.”
“Alright, scrap this round. Everyone put the papers back in here and I’m gonna shuffle them again and now...Hannie hyung, you’re going first...did you get yourself?”
“No, but this isn’t who I wanted.”
“Too bad, next! Wonwoo-ssi, you’ve been so quiet so it’s your turn.”
The mistake repeated thrice more when Mingyu announced getting Jun (you pulled out Soonyoung for that round); Chan spoiled it when he revealed Seungkwan’s name (you pulled Jeonghan); and Seungcheol ruined it when he said he got you (you picked Mingyu) and then Junhui huffed out a, “Unless you got yourself, keep your mouths shut.” He managed to glare at the culprits as they pulled out their picks. “Okay Y/N, it’s your turn.”
You didn’t bother holding your breath anymore; it seemed like all the pent up anxiety went away with the disappointment of not pulling his name in the last 15 minutes. You didn’t feel your hands tremble anymore as you unfolded the little, somehow dirty with the grease from potato chips (and after a quick scan, you figured out that Vernon pulled out this at least once. You’re ready to get this over with and then you feel the nerves come back tenfold.
“Did you get yourself?”
“No.” You finally pulled out Chan’s name...and now you were terrified.
*
Once you were in the comforts of your own place later that night, you brought out a notebook and your laptop and opened the tabs that’d hopefully help you out. But what the hell do you get the future of kpop? He got everything his heart desired on a silver platter. You fell back on your bed with a groan, hating the universe for finally listening to you. You could've gotten any other of the boys something like a watch, or a pair of shoes or even just a new camera, but you hated the fact that you had a crush on Chan because now you had to go all out and get him something that was special.
You would’ve made him something but your own idol life kept you from actually things you enjoyed...besides the dancing and music. And buying him something just didn’t feel personal. Maybe if you bought him a dog...no, a cat...wait maybe a rabbit...a lizard...how about a turtle...a parrot! Your hand found your pillow and you resisted the urge to smother your face in it when you threw it on you. A wallet? Nah, one of the boys already bought him one when his ripped during a concert. He already had plenty of clothes...and shoes. What if you bought him a MacBook? Nope, one of them (Soonyoung) would try setting it up and then they’d be asking for a new one.
“What?” you answered your phone, your voice still muffled.
“Whose Secret Santa are you?” Speak of Kwon Soonyoung and he shall appear.
“Why would I tell you?”
“Because if you got me, I’m just saying there’s this new grill I saw at the hardware store last week and it’s on sale. And even if youre not my secret Santa, I’d appreciate the gift.”
“Goodbye Soonyoung.”
Suddenly, a trip to Ibiza didn’t sound so bad and you would’ve booked flights but Seventeen had a much tighter schedule than you did so they would’ve gone to waste. You finally stood up, finding something in you to put your shoes in the closet. Okay, they honestly, would’ve been fine where they were, but you didn’t wanna stare at the laptop anymore in case you decided to yell at it for not helping you. You never wanted to do Secret Santa for Chan again. It was a lot more stressful than you decided.
You threw your shoes on the floor, ready to go back to your bed when a pen caught your eye. Admittedly, you wanted a distraction so you bent down to pick it up, cursing yourself for leaving your backpack open so everything could fall to the ground. Not too far from it a plasic bag caught your eye, and you reached over to take it out and a smile broke out on your face. It wasn’t perfect but it’d do.
*
“Merry Christmas from your Secret Santa,” Joshua said with a smile. He gave you a poorly wrapped present which you took gratefully.
“I’m afraid now,” you teased him.
“As you should. I spent almost two months collecting everyone’s toenail clippings.”
“This is why you’re single.” Even though you knew he was kidding, you still shook the gift...just to be sure. Something clinked in there and your paranoid gaze met his mischievous one. “You didn’t really do that, did you?”
“Be grateful it wasn’t coal,” he said, referring to the fact that Soonyoung’s secret Santa (which turned out to be Seungcheol) did just that.
You unwrapped it hesitantly, heart pounding a lot faster than it should’ve and it was only when you saw a Winnie-the-Pooh and friends stained glass design that you breathed a sigh of relief and almost threw it at him. “This is beautiful. I love it. Thank you, okay then, ‘bye. Okay, Chan. Merry Christmas from your secret Santa aka me.”
“Did you get me cologne? Someone, not to name names-” his eyes shot to Jeonghan accusingly, “finished all of mine last week.”
“If you told me that sooner, I would’ve saved myself the headache,” you groaned.
“But you didn’t and that’s okay. So, what did you get me since you can’t give me the world?” He took your gift bag curiously, examining the sides. “It’s too small to be shoes, and you didn’t put it in a box.” He reached into it and pulled out a leather journal with his name written in both Korean and English. He opened it right away and read the little message you put in.
“Now that you’re doing more choreographies, maybe you’ll want a place to put your notes in. Or you can just jot your words down.”
“Y/N, I was wondering when you were gonna give me this.”
“Huh?”
“This is gonna sound really weird but a couple years ago when we went to your house...this was before you moved...I was putting some chicken, i think it was away back in the fridge and I saw this in a bag mixed in with vegetables. I thought it was yours but then i saw my name on it...I thought you might’ve forgotten about it.”
You were confused for a moment longer and then you remembered. “Oh yeah! I did but I didn’t. I bought this for you awhile back but I wanted to give it to you for Christmas but then it would’ve looked bad if I got you something but not anyone else, and then when Jun wanted to do Secret Santa, I was hoping I’d get you but I never did...and then I just gave up on the idea.”
“You are really the cutest. But it’s better late than never.” He tapped your head affectionately with it. “Now if you’ll excuse me...Hey, hyung! Guess what I got.”
You couldn’t stop that stupid grin from forming on your face. Lee Chan called you cute, and it just made your day a lot better.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
jaehyun walked to turn a heel at the end of the hallway, entering the classroom with only a few minutes left before his arts professor came. he anxiously looked at the clock, the handle ticking away just like how everything else in his sight faded away. he fixed his bag and placed his books onto the table. sitting back on his chair, sicheng who was behind him, tapped him on the shoulder to ask if he was okay. no response, and sicheng had to let his friend be. the ringing in jaehyun’s ears continued, muffled voices soon brought to complete silence.
just like how he encountered you earlier.
during the lesson switch, to be exact.
he visited you when you got your books from the lockers. something he always did in the morning before you both start your day. if arrived early, he would take you out for a tiny breakfast date. a gentleman indeed. but today of all days, you didn’t talk to him and avoided his calls and messages. more of he thought you didn’t want to see him. not a word came out from your lips whenever he would ask how you were. sure the eye contact was there, but it was just that. conscience led him to think that he might be the reason why you acted this way; cold, hard-to-approach, bothered. it was strange because never in two-year span of dating, had you ever ignored him. he was the jung jaehyun, your boyfriend and lover. there was no way that you-
“jung jaehyun?” mr. park fixed his glasses as he called lad. jaehyun shuffled in his seat, aware that he wasn’t paying any attention when the lesson was already an hour in. “i’ll remove you from the list if you could tell me what van gogh suffered from.” he tilted his head, jaehyun reluctantly shifting his eyes to the board; his name written under the word ‘detention’.
sicheng swallowed his giggles at jaehyun for his unreasonable daydreaming. mr. park could be very annoying at detention, given the fact that he had experienced it thrice.
jaehyun cleared his throat. “he suffered from delusions and episodes-”
“which episodes?” mr. park challenged him.
“psychotic episodes and he had mental instability. because of that it led to a neglect in his physical state-”
“alright, good enough. if i see you daydream in my class again, i think you know the consequences.” he turned around to write points at the blackboard.
another hour of mr. park’s lecture felt like eternity. he didn’t even bother to write down notes because all he wanted was to see you. he had to know the reason of your treatment to him, and once bell rang and the lesson ended on time, he rushed out of the classroom. soon sicheng carried his stuff, not trying to lose sight of his friend.
at the cafeteria, jaehyun spotted you by the counter with your friends. the movements of your shoulders from possibly giggling only meant that you were fine. still he wondered why you ignored him.
minghao and seokmin went to their table to have lunch. they noticed their friend off in a daze, looking at nothing but the concrete wall. he didn’t touch his food nor utter anything upon arriving. “he’s been like that since art history.” sicheng cut the super awkward silence.
“seriously what? he loves art history though.” minghao munched on his salad. “did you ask him why?”
“nah, but i have a hunch it’s got something to do with y/n.” sicheng shrugged.
jaehyun perked up in his seat when he sensed your presence walk pass their table. he thought he saw you smile weakly at him, even if it was just a second long. you looked a little slim from the last time he eyed you from head to toe.
“mhm, yep it’s definitely about her.” seokmin pursed his lips.
clanks of ultensils opposite from seokmin startled him. “i don’t get it” jaehyun hissed, finally munching onto his lunch.
“dude chill you’re angry eating.” seokmin calmed him.
“she’s acting like i’m not her boyfriend. like what the heck did i do?” jaehyun slurped on his drink.
“maybe you did something unconsciously?” sicheng asked with his arms crossed. “i mean you could be a real mess when you drink too many shots.”
jaehyun glared at sicheng, giving him annoyed telepathic eyes that told him you didn’t like it when he drank too much. he knew he didn’t go to the bar this week, and it wasn’t the answer as to why you ignored him.
“you might want to talk to her now.” minghao hesistantly suggested.
“i want to but she’s avoiding me. it’s been three days.” jaehyun slumped on his seat.
“he could turn out worse if it was a week.” seokmin tried to make a joke out of it, only to be responded by a pissed jaehyun.
“jae, what i’m saying is talk to her now?” minghao tilted his head to the side, pointing to your figure by the cafeteria entrance.
“ugh, glad my lessons for today are done.” jaehyun stood up and slung his bag over his shoulders.
you saw how jaehyun hurriedly walk towards to where you were. immediately your legs fuzed with energy like electricity and started to run, afraid of him to come closer. your chest already ached at the fact you’ve been silent treating him for three straight days. the bike you rode on this morning soon came into your view and you ran quickly towards it, pushing it to start peddling.
“y/n! babe! come back here!” you heard jaehyun from behind and as you took a turn at the next street to your apartment. to your surprise, jaehyun too grabbed a random bike to follow you.
the tension was rising. you didn’t care how your hair nearly block your sight. you couldn’t face him now, not today. you peddled as fast as you can, remembering how insisting jaehyun could be whenever there was a minor clash between the two of you. you hear his pants and yells ordering you to stop. “why are you running away?!” he screamed, not giving any attention to his voice crack and the horns of the passing vehicles.
jaehyun noticed how wobbly your ride was, and when you slightly crashed into the apartment’s front yard, his heart skipped a beat, worrying that you might be injured. he wanted to clear things out, maybe apologise for something he knew he didn’t do. it may sound stupid but it was probably the right thing to do so you wouldn’t ignore him this long. “y/n!”
“agh!” your fingers pressing non-stop onto the elevator button. you squealed when you heard his footsteps. the numbers going up were taking too long.
you hurriedly took the keys from your pockets and managed to slip it into the door knob, forcing your way home. the other elevator dinged, and you knew jaehyun was just right behind. “y/n!” he called out. with heavy heart and instinct, your hands found their way to the knob and slammed the door to a close.
but jaehyun was a tad faster. his palms held the edge and without effort, he opened the door, making you stumble backwards. “please talk to me!” he said, seeing your figure run farther into your apartment though you slid slightly at the waxed floor. “babe-”
he had gotten hold of your arm when he entered your room. he chuckled at the sight of you wearing his hoodie. a small you and his huge clothes by the cupboards. he didn’t want to force things onto you, so as you heard his tired legs bringing his body to your bed, you turned around; only to hear jaehyun let out a huge laugh.
“pfft!” you hear him cover his mouth. “why are you like that?” he asked as you held the ends of the strings attached to the hood, your face hidden behind the creases of the knotted fabric.
jaehyun tried to forcibly loosen the creases. “no!” your muffled voice unclear and even if your fingers weren’t pointing at him.
“you can’t hide from me.” he chuckled, his arms snaking by your waist as he pulled you closer. “we haven’t talked in days.”
in utmost apology, you clasped your hands together as if you were saying a prayer.
“i know you’re pouting.” he carried and swung you around. “don’t you miss me?”
you nodded, still holding onto the strings. he gently put you down. “if you love me, you’ll take off the hood.” he patted your head. “let me see my pretty girl.”
like child doing as she was told, you complied to him and removed it. “see?” jaehyun’s smile caused to you to do the same. he planted a kiss on your cheek. “why have you been ignoring me?”
he saw you look at him with slight teary eyes and with your lips pursed, jaehyun knew something was wrong. “babe?” he asked, but you only sighed heavily. “you can tell me anything.”
ignoring him, you played with his hands in response. jaehyun laughed at your actions. you never acted like this. seeing you so stressed in a good way made him discover new sides of you. “y/n why aren’t you speaking?” he pinched your cheeks and you yelped in pain, crouching down as you held your numb body part.
“ow!” you hissed, curling into a ball.
jaehyun’s eyes softened, guilt spread his body. “oh no i’m so sorry. was that painful?” he knelt down to your level to where he could see you.
“of course it does!” you closed your eyes in pain, as if rubbing your cheeks would do any better. after seeing jaehyun’s expression, you sighed in defeat. “i-i j-just had braces..” you hid by your legs and jaehyun scooted in front, wrapping you with his large frame.
“is this the reason why you wouldn’t talk to me?” he bit back a giggle as he asked, caressing your cheeks. “did it hurt?”
“moderate.. my gums still hurt.” you replied. “i’m sorry i didn’t tell you and ignored you for three days.”
“it’s alright y/n. i’m not mad, but i missed you so mu-”
your stomach grumbled in a volume you wished you could turn it down. gosh how embarrassing that was. “you haven’t eaten yet?” jaehyun’s eyebrows scrunched narrowly.
“just today.” a grumble came out again and jaehyun clicked his tongue. “okay, maybe i didn’t have dinner last night as well-”
“babe, you should’ve called me! i could’ve come right away!” he stood and soon he pulled you up too.
“i planned to but i didn’t want to.” you pointed at your teeth. “i’m too shy.”
“i’m your boyfriend. you shouldn’t be shy to me.” he sighed. “i’ll make something quick and easy. porridge would do?”
“but i’m not sick though-” you followed him to the kitchen, sliding onto the wooden floor with your new socks.
jaehyun took whatever his eyes landed on at the shelves, grabbing the utensils to prepare. “y/n, i want you to wait at the couch.”
“but i want to hel-”
“y/n.” his stern voice started you. “no but’s. please? let me take care of you.”
“i can make porridge myself.” you pouted as you wriggled his arm. jaehyun sighed, his lips curved and he agreed that you wanted to at least help him. he bent down for a kiss and you returned it.
“mgh. tastes like metal.” he did the smoulder, teasing you like he always does.
“this is why i didn’t want to tell you!” you let out a tantrum. “that’s it. i’m making my own meal!”
jaehyun laughed and carried you again, swinging you like you were a stuffed toy. you hit him continuously, squealing in all kinds of high pitches. “alright alright! give me a kiss.” he puckered his lips.
“ugh you’re so demanding!” you squeezed his cheeks, but kissed him anyway.
“yep, still metal.” he teased.
smack.
“i should’ve ignored you for one more day.”

happy birthday seokmin!! soulmate!au to celebrate!!
“i wanna fly to where my dreams are, fly beyond the sky, i wanna fly - i wanna fly!”
the words resound throughout your mind - the music is melodious and the voice is beautiful
but you don’t know why this song is stuck in your head
you don’t know who the voice belongs to
it’s just been ever present since you woke up
“i want to be someone free, i wanna fly fly”
you shake your head and you hear a friend beside you ask if everything is ok
you look up to see the concerned expression on jeonghan’s face and just shrug your shoulders
“i just have,,,,this song stuck in my head - and i don’t know who or where it came from.”
“i mean that happens to me too, i hear something at the mall and i just hum it all day.”
“yeah, but ive never heard this song before? and the voice,,,,,,doesn’t sound like anyone ive ever heard of.”
jeonghan taps his pen against his chin
“what does it sound like?”
you sit up, reciting the lyrics that have been circulating through your head all day
jeonghan’s eyes widen
“wait - you don’t know that song?”
“no, why would i? is it popular?”
“it’s seokmin’s song. he wrote it and sang it last week in front of half the school.”
lee seokmin? he’s an aspiring singer, in every music club that the school has to offer and from what you sort of remember - he’s in a band with a couple of other students
“oh ,,,, i don’t think i saw him perform it.”
jeonghan gives you a look and you blink curiously at him
“what? why are you looking at me like that?”
jeonghan’s look twitches up into a little bit of a smirk
“you’ve always thought seokmin was kinda cute, right?”
you tear your gaze away, suddenly more nervous than before
“i mean - no ,,,,,, well i mean ,,,,,,,, he’s ,,,,, he’s kind of my type ,,,,, i mean ,,,,,,,, why does that matter?!?!”
jeonghan’s smirk doesn’t falter
“it’s just, isn’t it kind of curious how his song has been stuck in your head all day - maybe it’s a sign!”
you don’t like all the nonsense your friend is coming up with, so you pack up your books
“i have to go -”
“i hear seokmin spends his after school hours in the school auditorium~”
you scrunch up your face, putting your backpack on
“and why would i need to know that?”
“im just letting you know~”
you don’t want to play right into jeonghan’s predictions - but that’’s what you end up doing
you’re anxious, your heart seems to be beating faster and you hesitate before opening the door to the auditorium
slightly jumping at the sound the old creaking thing makes
and that alerts the only person sitting up on the empty stage
it’s lee seokmin
and when he sees you - he ,,,,,,, doesn’t look all that shocked
“hey,,,,sorry i just -”
you want to think of an excuse, but seokmin is already hoping down from the stage to come over to you
his school uniform is a little unkempt, tie undone and blazer thrown somewhere with his other things
he smiles and you notice the little mole on his cheek
you’ve never been this close to him - so there’s a bunch of new things to pick up about him
but what you realize first is that
you don’t hear the song in your head anymore
it had gotten fainter and fainter as you got closer to seokmin
and you didn’t want to start believing in anything - but maybe jeonghan had been right
“i was actually going to try and look for you sooner.”
seokmin starts and the surprise that’s laced in your voice is evident
“r-really? why?”
“well all day ive been hearing someone’s voice in my head and,,,,,,,,,it didn’t seem too familiar till i told a friend of mine about it.”
you tilt your head
“and? what does that have to do with me?”
“well it was hoshi - you know him, right? i told him what the voice kept saying and he said that he only knew one person who used that phrase - and it was you”
seokmin heard my voice in his head and i heard his in mine,,,,,,,,goddammit jeonghan were you really onto something?
you shift
“that’s,,,really interesting because all day ive had a song stuck in my head and well jeonghan said it was your song.”
“my song?”
you feel a little embarrassed, but you do your best to clear your throat and sing the repeating lyric
seokmin looks at you in awe before slowly nodding his head
“that is my song ,,,,,,,,,,”
he starts clapping a little and adds “you sounded really good singing it”
you shyly glance away and rub your arm as you try to think of what to say now
was this really some kind of sign? and if so, what did it mean?
seokmin gives a little chuckle before he says, “ive heard that soulmates often hear each others voices or dream the same kind of dream before meeting”
you look back up and seokmin reddens a slight bit
“b-b-but of course,,, i - i don’t  know if w-we’re soulmates or anything it’s just a theory and i ,,, i don’t even know if you like me-”
“i like you”
you blurt out without even thinking and seokmin kind of jumps a bit at the confession
before laughing into his hand
“oh good, i thought i’d sound kinda creepy calling you my soulmate if you didn’t even like me”
“well,,,,do you like me?”
“yeah! this is so embarrassing but i’d even asked jeonghan a bit about you before,,,,”
and of course jeonghan didn’t tell me - ill get him back for that later!
you give a small smile and look past seokmin to the stage
“if it’s ok,,,ive only heard the chorus repeat in my head -would you mind singing the whole song for me?”
seokmin gives an enthusiastic nod, wasting no time taking your hand in his and leading you back toward the stage
you spend hours with him there, listening to him sing and looking over the notebooks of lyrics he’s written
afterwords seokmin insists on buying you dinner - you know so this can be considered a real date
you get all giddy at that,,,,,
butterflies welling up in your stomach as you follow seokmin out of school
and he takes your hand again, this time lacing your fingers
when you get home that night, you grin stupidly at the text from seokmin full of heart eyes emojis and compliments
and you fall asleep with the tune of his song softly lulling you - his voice comforting, soft
“i want to be someone free, i wanna fly fly”
