You have no idea what being labelled the "Sun/Moon CEO" has done to me, Anon. My Ego is Huge.

Personally, I think they're around 7-8 feet tall? Maybe somewhere in-between. Maybe a solid 7.5 ft in height, if you wanted an approximate headcanon.

But that's only if they're standing upright, which neither of them tend to do often (Sun likes to hunch over to try and appear smaller/so the kids can see him easier, and Moon likes to crouch because he's a Gremlin).

this is THE definitive joan painting for me. the textures. the placement of the bodies. the figure in armour in the background. is that joan too? are we seeing into the future? is she? her expression's inscrutable to me but, i like to think that when she heard the voices they told her she would die and still she chose to take up the sword. i love any piece of media that reminds the audience of its own voyeurism. you are looking at joan knowing she will be burned at the stake before she turns 20, and joan is looking back at you. further correct opinions under the cut

2. sleeping joan of arc by george w. joy (1895)

oughh. this one renders me inconsolable. even martyrs need naps. the vulnerability of falling asleep contrasted with the refusal to take off her armour. the tender way the angel is cradling her feet...sword within reach, hands crossed in prayer or like a corpse [ethel cain voice] god loves you but not enough to save you

3. joan of arc by albert lynch (1903)

a classic! the martyr the myth the legend! i don't have much to say about this one i just think it's really pretty <3 the hairstyle that launched a thousand photoshoots. the field of lilies she's in the middle of...i don't know if lilies were associated with funerals in 1903 (surely they must have been i can't see that tradition being only 100 years old) but to someone who's been to a Lot of funerals she is quite literally dead and alive at the same time. what is a ghost? something dead that seems to be alive. something dead that doesn't know it's dead.

4. joan of arc - harold piffard (c.1897)

again, i just think this one's neat :^). i was surprised when i found a date for it because to my (untrained, not an art historian) eye it looks SO modern. it looks like it could have been painted in photoshop in 2011, that is in no way a dig i just think it's the light which is throwing me off. this one has such a simple colour palate, the red of her skirt is largely obscured idk i want it on a tshirt with some poetry or lyrics on it. also can we talk about the folds where her banner is draped over her shoulders? godly.

5. joan of arc by dante gabriel rossetti (1882*)

i am in general not a fan of rossetti-he could paint one face and it looked like carlos ii of spain which is deeply unflattering to say the least; everyone he painted looked like a hapsburg second cousin. so, my condolences. even this one i'm not sure i like because all the shades of red are too similar that her hair and the background and all the detail on her robe sort of blend together like tomato soup. but still the close upper body crop (for lack of a better word) really brings you up close and the way that the eye, for those who read left-right which is what rossetti's audience would have been, goes from her hands along the pommel of her sword along the blade to her face and the angle of her face is quite striking!

*he did an almost identical watercolour with even tighter framing in 1864

The Arcana is in fact a romance game and every one of the 12 possible endings leads to some sort of relationship with one of the 6 main characters (all 6 characters have both a good and a bad ending depending on the choices you make)

However. I'm not saying you'd enjoy the story (some of the bad endings are a bit fucked up but Idk if it would be your flavor of fucked up, it's still a romance-like game after all) but there's this one character called Valdemar (who's also canonically nonbinary, together with a bunch of other characters) who does look to me like the type of fucked up character you'd like

They're a non-human entity who uses a human disguise because their true form is too much for the human mind to understand (described in the game as an undulating mass, their surface boiling with clusters of eyes, teeth, rib bones emerging from within and dissolving back into it and numerous long, terrible, blade-like limbs), their patron Arcana is Death (the game revolves heavily around the various Major Arcanas from a tarot deck) and they work as a "doctor" (I doubt they have an actual license to be a doctor) because they love watching humans suffer and witness their last moments before Death claims them

They're possibly the only character in the game the MC is never able to either "change for the better" nor defeat and I actually quite like that tbh, although in two of the endings they do help the MC but it's because the "bad guy" is trying to erase death so that no one will ever lose anyone important again and they don't like that because they love it when people die

I'm personally obsessed with the game and every time Valdemar is on screen being their fucked up creepy self I can't help but think "Perelka would like them"

Tbh their design isn't really something I would like ;;;;w;;;; They seem kinda... bland to me? Apologies, you seem to like them, but after a description that sounds rather fun I was expecting something different. I feel kinda bad that after you have put so much heart into description I just coldly react like that but ngl I cannot really get excited.

But it's great that you like them, and the game! There is always something fun about characters that hide their inhumanity (I do enjoy that, just in different form, classic G-Man or the Outsider come to mind from examples I deeply appreciate). I suppose it's the medic part that turns me off, I never enjoyed much the play on doctors bringing the pain (admittedly, that kinda makes me uncomfortable orz)

Also, I am guessing it adds to the eldtrichness of their real form being impossible to perceive, it would be a bit boring if it was shown!

how did you become a terf, btw? especially in the context of being a fan of mcr. I remember when I first got into mcr it was mainly a bunch of "straight" girls and some guys. when mcr just did their tour and everyone was blogging about it on Tumblr I realized that like, there were so few women? or at self identified women? just a lot trans masc or nb guys and that felt like super alienating? so I was like okay I realized I'm a lesbian are there any like,, gay people in this fandom? y'know? seeing people go, yeah mcr transed my gender or all the straight girls who listened to mcr are now gay trans guys, that definitely made me question things

man honestly the whole history of how i became a "terf" is in the archives of this blog. i started this account when i was trans & i read some feminist gender theory (mostly from detransitioners) and i was like hey huh idk if this makes sense actually i think gender might b made up i think i might have been sold a lie. let's figure this out. u can look back thru that stuff if u want but make sure to mind wipe yourself right after because oh my god i dread 2 think what is in that archive.

as for mcr, i was super into them at a young age and kind of fell away from them after the breakup and then fell into "gendie" circles and identified as trans and then "terfed out" and reidentified as female and realised i was a lesbian and THEN got back into my chem a few years later (360 days ago if anyone was wondering. its been nearly 1 year since i saw them at warrington and everything changed :3) so i wasn't much of an mcr fan when i "became a terf". but listen honest to god they did kind of trans my gender im not kidding i remember being 10 years old getting into them for the first time and also at the same time having lots of thoughts abt how if i could have one magic wish i would wish to be a boy at least for a little while. but i was like oh well thats impossible nothing i can do abt it! and then as a teen when i found out about trans people i DO remember thinking "huh yeah i remember wanting to be a boy a lot when i was like 10". its probably coincidental timing (being abt to start puberty is the perfect time for both emo angst & gender dysphoria to start setting in) but i do think parade as an album Did Something to me like i did specifically consider lyrics from that album when thinking about wanting to be male as a kid. sorry i am indeed blaming gerard way for transing my gender.
