i dont know if this counts as a request or not, but how would the genshin characters that you wrote for react to your angst?
i am not sure actually, so i put my idea here, if that's what you meant!
tw: mentions of death
for venti i'd assume that he would be somewhat affected; more-so eleutheromania and my love all mine all mine, as it may bring him some memories from the past, so he'd likely want to stay away from them, and angst in general. regret and reconciliation are connected and show how you and venti are affected, so he'd most likely rather this than eleutheromania and my love all mine all mine. in my opinion i think he'd make a small song about it too, but i'm not too sure. but overall i think he's going to be fine long term, cant say the same for the short term though, keke
hu tao... so far i think she'd be used to the concept of passing, but she'd likely be a little shocked with the rite of parting, and for to you who passed;, she would feel a little hurt. she may be someone who works closely with the hands of death, but she isn't used to those close to her passing, no? while she may seem very casual and lighthearted about her topic in business, she still cares, so hu tao might not want to dive into angst when she already has a lot on her hands. overall, she'd be somewhat neutral about the angst, though she'd rather keep away from reading them.
ah tighnari. my fav yet i torture him with angst. he probably has the most angst fics right now in my fics. we'll meet again and when the night stole you away both cover topics where the reader passes on due to an unknown or an incurable illness. and as a fennec hybrid, he'd hate to think of partings as they have only one partner for life–and death isn't very reversible too. for wander, unrequited and ballroom extravaganza, they mostly cover breakups, and he'd also dislike the idea, but at least he can still see his ex lover, right? fufu. all in all i think tighnari would hate anything that revolves around breakups, and while he would seem to deal with it well, he'd most likely start crying when his job is done for the day, going to his bedroom to sob into his hands and pillows if it really did happen to him, especially with topics like in we'll meet again and when the night stole you away.
ayato... both were we supposed to be together, i wonder? and right person wrong time are connected, like venti's, shows two sides of the situation, and i think he'd enjoy reading it; i'm not too sure about him in general, so my statement for him would be: enjoys it, but only a little.
LIBEN! i have only written him for the ebg event, but i did write a handful of him, half nearly angst... arguments don't always end well, love doesn't always end in happily ever after both have some sort of argument, and from what i know i don't think he'd really like it much. the last you'd ever see and when the stars took you away are more disappearances than anything, and he'd probably hate the idea too, especially with when the stars took you away, because i think he'd cherish his s/o a lot. don't look away is more like his own perspective, and i'd think he'd like it to some extent, but also dislike it at the same time.

Wait would the jellyfish be land dwellers now or would the mc be like a sea creature? Mayhaps even just mc works at the aquarium and dates the jellyfish residents
AHHHH TY FOR YOUR INTEREST ;w;;-
I've done some preliminary fleshing out of the story atm (which might get retconned later on because there are a lot of plotholes)
but here's my current "premise":
You, the protagonist have parents that worked at a Jellyfish research facility. It was bring your child to work day or something like that when an accident suddenly killed pretty much everyone in the facility- except for you.
Anyway, you end up being adopted by a friendly family of jellyfish (who also got sapience thanks to the accident... somehow) and somehow you can only breathe water.
See? Definitely being remade. I think I'm basing it off waaaay too much on Hatoful Boyfriend (oops!) but it probably would be better if I took elements from Ponyo for this, haha :)

Hellooo 🫠
You know when amanai is having a moment in the aquarium watching the fish? Maybe reader had wandered off from gojo and sugu and was having a moment to herself in like, a jellyfish area? And sugu notices she's gone and goes to find her?
He would be so romantic 🥲
respectfully, your honor, he is simply babygirl
Tumblr media
When he noticed you were missing from the group, it didn't take much effort to summon a weak Curse and send it to find you. He knew you could handle yourself, but he also didn't want another situation where one of your group gets kidnapped. After the Curse reports back of your whereabouts, he slips into the crowds as easily as a shadow.
“There you are. I was beginning to think a shark ate you.”
“You’re not listening very well if you still associate sharks with attacking people,” you reply, looking at him from the corner of your eye in the dim light of the gallery. He smiles softly at your quick remark and it makes your stomach do a somersault. The chill of the air conditioned hall sends goosebumps over your skin and you refocus on the exhibit in front of you, sea nettles with their tentacles elegantly swirling as they swim about mindlessly. To tell the truth, you’d wandered off from the rest of the group after you heard something about an opportunity to feed the rays in a touchpool. But, you’d become lost somewhere between the second floor bathrooms and the dancing otter mascot. You ended up in the deep sea gallery, a darkly lit series of exhibits showcasing all sorts of creatures found in deathly cold waters. “How are Riko and Satoru doing?”
“They’re great. Last I checked, they were headed to harass the penguins.” He closes the distance until his arm is pressed against yours, the warmth of his bicep helping against the frigid temperature. As you move on to the next exhibit, his eyes track the movement of the dancing jellies in awe. “What are these guys?”
“Moon jellies," you inform him, leaning into his touch when his lips meet the side of your head. It's intimate and it's quiet, a situation that didn't come easily for Jujutsu sorcerers. His pointer finger traces a heart on the cold perspiration of the tank and you draw a happy face next to it to match.
"They're like you." Your eyebrow quirks at the odd comparison.
"Slimy and small?"
"Beautiful, I mean," he clarifies, flicking your forehead lightly with his fingers. "I would sit with you and watch them for hours if I could."
"Did you know jellies don’t have a brain?”
“Must be related to Satoru,” he murmurs and you stifle a laugh into your fist, knocking him with your elbow. He bumps you with his shoulder in return, letting you pull him even closer by resting your hand on his arm. “You doing okay?”
“I’m better now. It just got a little loud in the main hall where we saw the whale shark,” you admit, admiring the graceful movements of the jelly to keep your focus away from how handsome Suguru looked in the moody lights. “I’ll be ready to get back with everyone else soon, I promise.”
“Take your time. I'll wait for you.”

Hi!
Can we get a part 2 for fyolup? She came to visit Neteyam at the metkayina and wears bikini for swimming. Aonung seems to eye her and neteyam turns into a protective jealous bf
Oooooooooooh gotta love a jelly na'vi bf! Hope you like this one!
Fyolup pt1
-----------------
Fyolup: Eyes on me
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When neteyam was told that his cute fyolup was coming with Norm to the metkayina village, he was over the moon. How he missed her so much! There was so much neteyam to tell her. What he learned, how his new life settled, but most of all, how much he has grown. And of course show off what he is capable of. Not to mention his new tattoos on his arm.
Already neteyam has things planned out for when she arrives. A full day of great activities, some including his siblings and some just for them two. Just thinking about it gets him riled up.
But also, Neteyam wonders what cute clothing fyolup would wear? Something suitable but also stylish to fit her taste. Of course, knowing her, fyolup would wear something for his eyes only and no one else.
Tumblr media
“Neteyam!”
The sweet sound of the voice he longed to hear again called out to him. On the sandy beach, not too far from him stood was fyulop. She has grown a lot in the past few months. Wearing his favorite teal summer dress, and a bright smile on her cute face.
Unable to hold it in, neteyam makes a run for it, and so does fyulop. Meeting each other in the middle, the girl jumps into his arms as he holds her tightly as he spun her around. Loud laughter escaped their lips, wide smiles and great happiness. For fyulop, it felt so good to be back in her lover’s arms. The feel of his skin touching hers, hearing his voice again. She missed it so much.
Not putting her down, rather carrying her on his shoulder, they stare at each other's eyes and foreheads touching. “I missed you ma’sevin” neteyam whispers to her ear. Humming in agreement, she nods. “And I have missed you ma’yawne” she replies. Having not rush to go back home, neteyam takes his time to show her firstly the grand beach. Holding her tightly so that she doesn't fall, not like she will. Neteyam starts to talk, letting his mind wander on recent memories.
And fyulop is all more eager to listen.
Tumblr media
“Neteyam, while I appreciate you looking at me for a long time, I am having self doubts now. Does it look good or not…?” Fyulop asks nervously. When she revealed her swimsuit, neteyam was in deep awestruck. He couldn't help but stare at her.
Her swimming outfit was a two piece. Strapless top with a matching bottom that was light blue with thin waving white lines. Giving the illusion of underwater lighting. To add to her personal touch, fyulop collected small shells from the beach and added it to her swimsuit. It is the little things that make things stand out more.
“I'm sorry love, it's just…oh eywa you look breathtaking” neteyam praises. Red hue colored fyulop’s cheeks. She certainly missed his praises.
Offering his hand, fyulop accepts. “Come on, there is so much I want to show you” neteyam tells her excitedly. Taking her from his family pod, he carefully leads her through the rather bouncy paths. Fyulop couldn't help but giggle as she bounces her way. It was like jumping on a trampoline!
Tumblr media
“Here, this is an ilu, like the dire horses at home. The people here use like in similar ways” neteyam explains while gently holding his ilu. Fyulop strokes its head gently, liking the pleasing sounds. And the ilu makes a sound of happiness, nudging his head against hers.
“He likes you” neteyam comments.
“I'm glad, cause I like him too. Such an adorable cutie you are” fyulop says in her baby voice.
Not far from where they are, ao’nung, rotxo, and lo’ak were nearing the shore with their ilu’s. Ao’nung noticed the human girl, his eyes fixated on her.
“Hey lo’ak, who is that?” he asks while pointing at fyulop. Lo’ak sees where he pointing at, “oh, that is fyulop. She came with our uncle norm to visit. Don't worry, she is harmless' ' lo'ak answers. But Ao'nung still couldn't stop staring at her or her pretty smile.
“Is she single?”
Tumblr media
“Hey fyulop, long time no see” Lo’ak welcomes the human girl with glee. Giving each other a warm hug, lo’ak joins in on whatever she and neteyam were doing. “So you are just going to ignore us lo’ak?” Rotxo teases behind the forest boy. Chuckling a bit, lo’ak shakes his head. “Right, sorry”.
Gently pushing ao’nung and rotxo in front of him, he points at who is who, “fyulop, this is ao’nung and rotxo. Guys, this is fyulop, she was born and raised here in pandora like spider” lo’ak introduces.
Fyulop giggled lightly, something that made ao’nung blush a tiny bit. Her giggles sounded so cute. He looks over and sees neteyam staring down at her with love and adoration. Crap, are they together? Hopefully not.
“Nice to meet you both. I hope you treated neteyam and his family well?” Fyulop asks. This made the boys chuckle nervously. “What? What happened? Did you guys fight each other?” Fyulop asks curiously.
“Well…you see..”
Tumblr media
“Skxawngs. All of you. Especially you neteyam. It is much for lo’ak to start but for you to continue it?” Fyulop gently scolds the boys as they tell her about their rough start of getting along. She gently tugs neteyam’s ear while making a playful yet serious face. Neteyam couldn't help but chuckle, her fingers were to ticklish!
Ao’nung saw their interaction, feeling his tail thump against the sand rather harshly.
“Speaking of, how much has neteyam showed you of our home?” he asks, switching the subject. Fyulop took a moment to think, “so far the pods, the beach and the cute ilu’s” she replies. Ao’nung make a clicking sound, shaking his head. “Clearly he is skipping the more exciting stuff. Why not let me show you the better parts of our home?” he offers.
Fyulop gasps happily, “really?” she asks.
“Of course, what better guide than me?”
Fyulop looks up to neteyam, her eyes already asking the question. He sighs, “he is right, but still”.
Taking the chance, ao’nung gets up and gently grabs fyulop’s hand already leading her the way. As he and fyulop began to chat, neteyam, lo’ak and rotxo looked at ao’nung with a surprised expression on their faces.
“Oh no he didn't”
“Oh yes he did”
Tumblr media
“And here is where we mostly trade things. Fish for beads, seaweed for grains, just about anything. There is something for everyone” Ao’nung shows fyulop the common areas that the na’vi spend their time. He showed her all the best places, ao’nung was pretty proud and a bit smug too. Getting cute reactions from fyulop was a treat. Even better to see neteyam fuming behind them.
Fyulop was enjoying sightseeing. The metkayina was so vastly different from the omatikaya! From how they look, to their ways, culture and style of clothing. Already fyulop had ideas of creating ocean inspired clothing. Maybe style it similar to how the metkayina do.
Neteyam on the other hand did not enjoy it. Nope. Not one bit.
If looks could kill, ao’nung would be deep in the belly of an akula.
Ao’nung had the sheer balls to not only touch fyulop but also hug her! Fyulop’s hugs are exclusive to neteyam only! Ok maybe his siblings too but mostly him! And too see that puny fishy skxawng touching his beloved made his anger rise deep within.
And poor fyulop, took caught up in the new experiences didn't notice what fishlips was clearing trying to do.
Well, as her boyfriend and protector, neteyam knows what slimy things that fishy na’vi prince can do.
Tumblr media
If ao’nung knew just how easy it was to sway fyulop to trust him, he would have done it on the spot! Fyulop is just so cute and her clothing suits her figure. Actually, speaking of her clothing.
Ao’nung haven't really seen much of how humans dress. So to see this human girl dress in a certain way excites him. There is a lot to learn and see something new within fyulop and hopefully be closer to her.
Tumblr media
However, as days pass, almost as if on purpose, ao’nung takes fyulop’s time most of the day. Taking her wherever he wants, personally teaches her many things neteyam wanted to show her, among other things. And would shove the poor forest boy to the side. Giving no room for neteyam to intervene.
And it was pissing neteyam off.
Having enough of it, he did the only thing he knew best.
Tumblr media
“You know fyulop, you interest me a lot. It would be nice if you stayed longer. Spending time with you has been a lot of fun” Ao’nung tells fyulop. Together they walk across the sandy shores, the small waves of the sea barely touching their feet.
“It certainly has been a lot of fun. And while living here seems like a good idea, I worry for neteyam. He already has enough stuff to worry about”
Ao’nung makes an annoyed sigh. “I doubt that. But either way, at least think it over. We could have a lot more fun. Together”. He holds fyulop’s hands into his larger ones. Making eye contact and hopefully what he is trying to do works.
Only it didn't.
Fyulop was gently yanked back by an angry neteyam.
“I think you had enough time with her,” Neteyam says. Trying his best not to hiss at ao’nung. But the reef prince scoffs a bit smugly. “And who are you to choose for her? She can do what she wants”.
“You’re absolutely right ao’nung” Fyulop agrees.
The boy smirks at neteyam who only glares harder.
“That means I can do this”
With a gentle yet quick yank from his necklace, neteyam was yanked down and was given the most passionate kiss ever.
Fyulop was kissing him as if to prove something. And boy did neteyam enjoyed it. With zero hesitation, neteyam kisses back, laughing on the inside. If he were to have a fourth finger right now, he would be flipping it in ao’nungs face.
“And, what I want to do is spend my time with my sweet neteyam. Thank you ao’nung for showing me, but I think neteyam can take it from here” fyulop says with a not so innocent smile.
Ao’nung was shocked, flabbergasted, speechless, and everything else. Damn it.
“You heard her skxawng” Neteyam says with a victorious smirk on his face. Clicking his tongue, ao’nung leaves in defeat.
With a happy cheer, neteyam picks up his love and spins her around.
“You were so jealous~” the girl teases as she boops his nose. But neteyam caught her finger, gently nibbling it. “And you watched me. Didn't do anything to ease my heart” neteyam accuses. This made fyulop stroke his ears as she leans closer and asks in a cooing manner, “Than what can I do to ease your jealous heart?”
He grins and replies “you know what”
Tumblr media
Aaaaaaaand that is it for this one! Was cute to write. Until next time! See ya!

꒰ ˒ take you to the basics∘︴toji z.
Tumblr media
↬ you and toji zenin have a fun time at the aquarium. ⇢ sfw, no cw!
∾ zenin toji x gn!reader. modern au. no curse au. toji lives with his big family and you're already close with them. established relationship. height difference mentioned kinda. tiptoe kisses. fluff. young teenage love. aquarium date. comfort. healthy relationship. (my dream date actually)
a/n: i tried making this with little gendered pronouns, so everyone can read! i'd appreciate any feedback! title is a reference from 'basics' by twice <3

your favorite part of the aquarium was definitely the moon jellyfish. you admire how the jellies drift carelessly through the ocean, their delicate tentacles glimmering in the soft aquarium light, the chatter of the vivacious crowd around you, and your first love, toji zenin.
you had easily won over his family. it wasn't hard, you just acted like yourself. always polite, eagerly listening to the elder's stories. toji would be annoyed because it seemed that you would only come over to play with his cousins, mai and maki, or make tea for his grandfather.
the water feels like cold glass on your skin. the tank was huge, lots of people crowded around it as people excitedly touched the fish. using two fingers to softly pat the little translucent jellies.
"won't they sting ya?" a gruff voice rumbles in your ear. toji zenin, your boyfriend of three years, told you a week ago he'd never been to an aquarium. like the overly excited partner you are, you bought tickets to the local aquarium and dragged him here.
its just fish, he said. but he's here yelping as one of the tiny invertebrates brush his fingers ever so slightly.
"baby, its just a little jellyfish. why are you so scared?" you tease him, as you two wander around the building.
"...they could sting me." he mumbled, flushed from your teasing. he'd never admit it, but he loves likes it.
you laugh in response, tiptoeing to kiss his cheek. "its okay, i'll protect you from the moon jellies. poor baby toji." you squish his cheeks, overly sticking out your bottom lip.
"oi. stop." he grumbles.
"okay, okayy." you laugh, letting go of his face and holding his hand instead.
the sound of gently bubbling water, the sight of colorful fish and aquatic plants, and the calming effect of underwater lights create a serene atmosphere. toji can't take his eyes off of you, keeping you close at all times as you excitedly point out at the clownfish.
"i caught that fish in animal crossing. and that one. ooh... i've always wanted to get one of those, but they never spawn on my island." you ramble off excitedly.
"you're so cute, darling. could watch ya like this the whole day."
normally, he'd be bored, but it seems so relaxing looking at the shiny scales, or the underwater forests, with the kelp, coral, and anemones.
"are you having fun?" you murmur, holding his hand and leaning onto his shoulder. "i hope you are."
"of course i am." he replies smoothly, pressing a chaste kiss on your forehead. "i'd always have fun with you."
you beam up at him, watching the surgeonfish swim without a care in the world. "i love you."
he chuckles, wrapping you up in a big hug, his arms tight around your waist. "oh, i love you too. so fucking much."
Tumblr media
a/n: i hope it's decent i literally don't know how to add more ig😭 next i have a satoru fluff and i have an idea in the making for yuuji! i feel like i'm writing too much fluff and no like angst or smut but we'll see😜

Hey Hi girlie, I love your writing so much!!! I was wondering if you could write one where Matt or Chris reconnect with an old friend that they have always had feelings for (and everyone could see it) and she's always been with other people but, finally sees what's always been right in front of her? Super sngsty and maybe kinda leaving us hanging because I'm always down for part 2!!! Thank you hun <3
Looking At The Moon Matt Sturniolo x Reader One Shot
Summary: You realize that it's been Matt all along.
Word Count: 971 words
Tumblr media
“Did you ever think you’d end up with Vinny?” Matt asked. The question caught you off guard.
You had spent the day back home in Boston celebrating Nate’s birthday. It was the first time that you had all been back together properly since the triplets moved to LA. It wasn’t quite the same as it was before they left but, you were glad to seem them all again.
As you lay on the floor of Nate’s lounge room, your friends were packed in beside you like sardines. It was 3am and you and Matt were the last two people awake. It felt like the old days.
“Sorry,” he said when you hadn’t answered after a while.
“I always thought I’d meet my soulmate in school and we’d fall madly in love and that’d be it. Just like my parents. You know, high school sweethearts and all that. Even though we dated for 4 years, I’m not sure that I ever really thought that it’d be Vinny” you explained.
Matt nodded his head slowly. Did you ever think it could be me?
“What about you?” you asked, “Do you think you’ve met your soulmate?”
Matt stared at the ceiling, “I hope so,” he replied, “I don’t know, I always hoped that one day I’d look at an old friend and think, ‘It’s been you all long’.”
You were intrigued as you propped yourself up on one elbow, turning yourself to face him. Chris had fallen asleep between you both and you squinted your eyes in the dark to make sure he was still asleep.
“Do you think you met her in LA?” you asked. You wanted to catch up on the gossip that you’d missed out on since they left.
“No,” he replied quicker than a horse out the gate. It’s you. It’s always been you.
You racked your brain trying to think of one girl that Matt had ever shown any interest in. His date to the middle school dance? One of the friends y’all lost touch with? Was there someone at Star Market you didn’t know? It was probably one of Justin’s friends - this kid’s delusional.
As Chris stirred in his sleep between you both, you sucked in a sharp breath in an attempt not to wake him. After some time had passed, Matt got up and gestured for you to follow.
You crept up the stairs behind him to Nate’s bedroom and climbed through the window onto the roof. It had been years since you had come up here - you could see the whole neighbourhood from this spot. Matt wrapped a blanket around your shoulders as you sat on the freezing cold tiles. You had missed doing shit like this with him. You had missed him.
You remembered sitting at the window with him at daycare as he waited for him Mom every afternoon. When your Dad took the training wheels off your bike a little too early, he was the one who kissed the scrape on your knee to make it better.
When you had free time in the first grade, he would let you share his pencils or read books with you on the beanbag in Mr Wilson’s reading corner. Every day at lunch he’d trade half his sandwich with you even if you both had peanut butter and jelly.
He was always there. He always listened, he celebrated your achievements and supported you through the tough times. If there was one thing you knew for certain it was that as long as Matt was around you’d never be alone.
“Isn’t it crazy how much has changed in the last two years?” you asked as you looked out to the dimly lit street.
“I don’t think all that much has changed. Not anything that matters anyway,” he replied.
Matt had a habit of talking in riddles sometimes. You never really quite knew what was going on in his head.
“Fair enough,” you replied. “Do you ever wish that you didn’t leave Boston?” you asked.
He took a moment. You could see the thoughts racing in his head as he fidgeted with the cuff of his sleeve. “I think that the people make the place,” he replied.
“Do you wish you never left you family?” you asked.
“Yeah… And, Nate…” he answered. And you. I wish I never had to leave you.
You took in a deep breath and laid your head on his shoulder. “I always thought growing up would be so much fun,” you said.
“It’s not fun?” he asked. “It’s not easy,” you replied as you both sat in silence, looking up at the moon.
After a while you looked at him and said, “promise you’ll remember me when you’re looking up at the moon in LA.”
I’m gonna wish that you were there with me. “I promise,” he said as he wrapped an arm around you. “Promise me you’ll send me pictures of whatever reminds you of me,” he asked and you pinky swore that you would.
When he went back to LA, he sent you snapchats every night of the moon from their balcony. You sent him pictures from the scrapbooks your Mom had made for you when you were younger.
There was a photo of the two of you from the first day of high school and beside it your Mom had written, “I hope one day you see what has always been right in front of you.”
You went back and forth for weeks on end not knowing if you should send it to Matt or not but, you inevitably decided against it. Instead, you took a pen to the page next to your Mom’s note and wrote, “Perhaps I’m realising a little too late that it was you all along.”

Hermits and Empires DnD Part 1
"Welcome to our first DnD session…I am your humble dungeon master. So let's take a look at what's happened leading up to present times…the Rapture."
The Rapture was an event that shook servers to its core. Causing strange and often destructive occurrences to happen, such as moons falling, entire empires being cracked and in the worst case scenarios, entire worlds known as servers being destroyed. This even even ripped some people out of their own server, sometimes warping them back in time and placing them in another server. No one knows what caused it. Many servers ended up colliding with each other and forming the world we know now…
"Oh Grian!" A familiar chipper voice called from bellow. Grian looked down from his perch to see Scar waving him down. He chuckled before flying down from the floating rocks he had constructed.
"What's up Scar?" He asked waving. "You've got mail!" He said holding out an envelope. "What are you my mail man?" He asked taking it.
"I don't know, these four letters appeared on my doorstep. I asked Pearl and Impulse to meet us over here, there's one for them too." Grian shrugged, noting the wax seal with two swords going into a block with a crown on top.
"Huh, I wonder where this came from." He replied, scratching his head. "Beats me," Scar replied.
"Wonder where what came from?" Impulse's voice came from behind them. The dwarf was a few feet smaller then the two, with a great bushy beard and hair pulled back to show horns coming out of his forehead. Accompanying him was his base neighbor and Grian's sister Pearl.
"We got mail?" She asked seeing the envelopes. Scar handed them out. "Yea I don't know they just appeared at my base," He said scratching his head. He took a seat in his wheelchair as the four began to open their letters.
Grian I send this letter to you from the server of Empires I, Pixlriffs of the Ancient Capital request the presence of you and three other Hermits in the Capital. I wish for you to take a rift at these coordinates. It will take you to my server, Empires for a meeting with 6 other people. I have a job for you regarding the Rapture, an event which I know you know well.
Warmest regards Pixlriffs, Ancient Capital Archeologist
"What's this then?" Pearl asked. "An invitation to an ancient capital? For a job?" "Sounds like it," Impulse replied. "I wonder if any other Hermits received this."
"I asked around, Xsuma has no clue about this. He suggested it might be from another server," Scar replied "Do we have directions?" Grian asked.
"It says to take the rift at these coordinates," Pearl replied. "Wait G, isn't that…" Impulse pointed out, glancing down at the hole under Grian's base.
"Yea I guess it is." He shrugged flying down. "Wait for me!" Pearl called, flying after him with her owl wings.
"G! I hope you made a way down for us!" Impulse shouted from the top. "There's an elevator don't worry! I didn't forget we can't get Elytra's anymore. End's closed off!"
Scar and Impulse soon joined the two Avian's as they looked into the strange rift Grian had uncovered days prior.
"So how does it know where to take us?" Impulse asked. "Doesn't say," Pearl said. "I guess it just does." Scar slowly rose to his feet, grabbing his cane from nearby.
"You sure you'll be fine with your cane Scar?" Grian asked. "Oh I'll be fine don't worry about me," He replied smiling. He tapped the chair twice, watching as it shrunk down into a small orb. He put it on his hip before whistling for his cat.
"Oh Jellie!" The spectral cat meowed, jumping down from the top of the hole, landing on his shoulders. He smiled, tipping his hat. "Let's go go go!" Impulse laughed shaking his head.
"I say we all hold onto each other to make sure we don't get separated." "Good idea mate," Pearl said, holding onto her brothers sweater. "Don't want to get separated from you again."
"I'm seriously having Deja vu," Grian replied making Impulse and Scar laugh. Pearl just smiled at him nodding. "Me too Grian, me too." She held onto Impulse who held onto Scar.
"Ready?" Grian asked. The other three nodded as they started to run in. "Geronimo!" "Allons-y!" Scar yelled out in a fake British accent. "Oh for gods sake!" Impulse shouted. "Woooooo!" Pearl shouted, as they all jumped into the rift.
"Soft landing," Impulse said landing on his feet. Grian hovered for a moment before landing down with Pearl. Scar came through and almost fell over.
"Whew, I tell you what someone passed gas," He said, stabilizing himself with his cane. "Hey look a festival!" Peal said pointing up.
"Did we even bring our Diamonds?" Impulse asked, patting his pocket. "Oh no," Grian said sighing. He felt around and pulled out some gold coins. "Mine are in my ender chest."
"Same," Scar said sighing. "X warned if we were heading to another server our ender chest wouldn't work. Even though a bunch of servers combined into one."
"Well looks like we've got gold to work with," Grian said sighing. "We could scam-I mean make some money," Scar replied, his eyebrows wiggling around.
"Scar!" Pearl said smacking him. "First thing you do is try to scam someone!" "Well haven't you two made some fun friends." Pearl and Grian turned around to see an old friend leaning on the rocks.
"Martyn!" Pearl yelled out, running out and hugging him. "Oh it's so good to see you. Where have you been?"
"In the void," Martyn replied causally shrugging. "The void!?" Grian exclaimed.
"Hey you can't say much!" He said pointing at him. "Hmm touché," He mumbled before laughing
"Mind introducing us?" Impulse asked, scratching his beard. "Oh right, Impulse, Scar this is Martyn," Pearl said smiling. "He's a friend of ours from the Evo server!"
"Martyn don't run off!" Another voice shouted. A smaller female rushed over, wearing a large witches hat
"Sorry Shelby, I got excited," he said sheepishly scratching his head. "Oh this is Shubble, I've been helping her out with some jobs around her empire."
"Nice to meet you all. You guys didn't get a letter from Pix about a job did you?" Shelby asked, holding up her letter.
"Yea we did," Impulse said holding up his. "Huh so that's…" Scar counted on his fingers. "Six of us, where are the other two?" At that moment, horns rang out from the festival. The six of them slowly went back up to the grounds to see what the commotion was about.
"Introducing Princess Gem of Dawn and Scott of Chromia!" An announcer rang out. Scott shook his head, adjusting his fedora on his head.
"Was that really necessary?" He asked, tying up one of his many lama friends in the pens. "I know," Gem said sighing. "A bit too out there for my liking."
"If it was Oli I'd be fine with it," Scott said chuckling. "Agreed. Now we need to find Pix and ask him about the letter."
"We should at least pay tribute to the fallen empires," He said softly. "A lot of my population are from Rivendell, and I'd like to respect the ruler."
"That's a good point," she said sighing, rubbing her arms. "You miss them?" He asked softly.
"Yea," she said, playing with her pink dress. "I miss a lot of them…" She glanced up at the banner of her former kingdom and academy, Crystal Cliffs.
"Gem!?" She quickly jolted looking over to see a dwarf and avian, who looked a lot like Pearl looking at the two.
"Oh shoot!" She said, bolting in the opposite direction. "Cover for me Scott!" He stood there confused, watching the two chase after her.
"Get back here missy! Where have you been!?" The avian shouted flying after her. Scott laughed, a little confused before glancing at the tent representing Rivendell. He sighed going over, glancing down at his hands before kneeling and muttering a small prayer. He shut his eyes for a moment before-
"Scott!" He jumped up and yelped, turning around to see Shelby standing there laughing. "Don't scare me like that Shelby! Sensitive ears!" He pointed to his barley hidden pointed ears before laughing with her. "Is this about Pix's letter?"
"Yea how'd you know?" She asked crossing her arms "Cause Pix also sent me one too." He nodded before noticing the other three guys behind her. "Ello strangers. Scott of Chromia at your service."
"Can I try on your hat?" The wood elf asked with a smirk. "Scar!" The avian squaked at him. "What it's fancy!"
"Don't give it to him, you won't get it back," he said. "How dare you accuse me of such a thing Grian!" Scott laughed before pulling out an extra.
"Here you go," he said smiling. "Yay!" Scar said taking it and putting it on. "Oh Scar, it even looks good on you," Grian said shaking his head.
"He looks so shady," The half elf said laughing. "I'm Martyn by the way." Scar laughed, leaning over to Scott. "Why don't you step into my office and we'll discuss some deals." The four of them laughed brightly.
"Scott help!" He looked over to see Gem caught by the two and lifted by Pearl. "Watch it Pearl I'm wearing a dress!"
"Is this where you've been this whole time?! We've been worried sick about you!" Impulse scolded. The group laughed once again, before the sun set over the mountains. They jolted hearing fireworks go off.
"So pretty!" Pearl said putting Gem down. Grian nodded before glancing over at the bridge. "Hey Scott how well is that bridge lit up?" He asked.
"Umm I'd say well why?" He asked. "Cause there's a bunch of mobs heading straight across it!"

SORVUS HEADCANONS
Tumblr media
bro their talking phase was INSUFFERABLE. like. GENUINELY JUST PAINFUL for everyone to watch. corvus looked at soren like the sun shone out of his ass and soren looked at corvus like he was his whole world. they were the last people to realize they were dating
soren goes all out on everyone's birthdays, he adorns the entire room with confetti and lights, and plans all of them (even though he's always a little late on the surprise aspect of it), and makes sure everyone learns fun dances and songs for the person. he went over the moon for corvus, asking the people to write corvus personal cards and he even wrote one himself. HE WROTE CORVUS POETRY AND IT WAS ACTUALLY! VERY GOOD!
but who goes all out for soren? who looks after him on his birthday?
CORVUS.
while corvus was the last person opeli expected to request a hundred feet of colored paper streams and a stack of jelly tarts, she gladly helped plan the party
corvus was never known for having a good sense of humor, but with soren, this blond man laughs so hard he punctures a lung. this leaves corvus beaming for the rest of the day
soren had always helped claudia dye her hair and style it on different occasions growing up-- and as she grew older, and well, you know what happened, he had forgotten how fun it was to do someone's hair. doing corvus's hair, styling it in different ways is his favorite thing to do
CORVUS IS SO TOUCH-STARVED, SOMEONE SHOULD HOLD HIM ME THINKS
around a month after the final battle, corvus walks into soren's room to find him furiously blinking away tears, and throwing a frame underneath his bed. soren had tried to greet corvus with a joke, but his voice broke right before the punchline. corvus led soren to his bed and held him as he sobbed over the loss of those he loved
WHENEVER THEY GO ON MISSIOnS people always ask "how do those two get anything done?? how do they even get along?" it's just the matter of soren saying whatever's on his mind, and that grounding corvus enough to focus on the mission instead of his thoughts. it's a win-win, your honor.
look me in the eyes and tell me that soren isn't a flirt
now look me in the eyes and tell me that soren doesn't get flustered when someone finally flirts back
because the first time soren had dropped a playful nickname on corvus, calling him "dear" after asking him to pass the salt, corvus replied with calling him "love" and SOREN EXPLODED INTO THE REDDEST FACE
soren isn't as concise with picking up certain cues as corvus is, but it's so clear that he tries. whenever corvus gets overstimulated, soren is so smooth and casual with telling the noisy crowd, "hey! me and my buddy gotta go check on something, we'll be back, man." and then they just sit in silence for as long as corvus needs
soren's tendencies of getting ahead of himself in battle might've changed, but they never truly left.
in dangerous situations, soren throws himself into battle, not expecting any serious consequences-- but sometimes, he doesn't get so lucky. he was in a coma for days, and after he woke up, he learned that corvus had been talking to him every single day and sleeping in the hospital with him since then
SOREN FELL FIRST BUT CORVUS FELL HARDER YOUR HONOR

Good Girl (13th Doctor x f!Reader)
Tumblr media
Synopsis: You had trouble when the Doctor said a certain phrase
Words: 2.1k
Warnings: praise kink
The first time she’d done it, it was like your brain had short circuited. You froze, not sure what to do with yourself. Your skin felt overheated and your breath caught in your throat. Your fingers clenched and only later would you find the half moon imprints on your palm left over from the bite of your fingernails.
“Good girl.”
The murmur of the Doctor’s voice, typically quiet, echoed in your ears. It rang through your head. She wasn’t even looking at you, already distracted. All you’d done was make a suggestion, wanting to help her as much as you could. It had been said softly, barely more than a whisper, not something to be heard by another person. You weren’t sure she’d even meant to say it.
A nudge from Yaz’s elbow had brought you back, rebooting your brain. She slipped her hand through your arm, guiding you after the Doctor as she prattled on, spiralling off from your initial idea.
“You okay?” she asked, keeping her voice quiet.
“Perfect,” you replied, not needing anyone to know what had happened.
The second time she’d done it, you knew she hadn’t been talking to you. After a long adventure with entirely too much running, she’d agreed to take you all home. She’d been at the console for longer than usual, hands stroking over parts of it, mumbling to herself.
“Good girl.”
The pride in the Doctor’s voice when they landed was palpable. Your knees turned to jelly and you had to grasp on to some of the railing to stay upright. Butterflies fluttered in your stomach and your mouth turned dry. You couldn’t tear your eyes from her, despite her back being to you. You were surprised by how much you wanted to see her lips form the words.
“Come on, you lot,” she said, barely offering a glance over her shoulder before bounding out the doors.
Ryan clapped you on the shoulder, pushing you forward with a soft shove. You stumbled over your own feet, trying to reconnect your brain to the rest of your body. The fresh air helped clear your muddied mind.
The third time she’d done it, you’d been curled up on one side of the sofa, late at night, alone with her on the other. A strangled noise fought its way out of your throat, no matter how hard you tried to keep it quiet. You pressed your thighs tightly together, your book lying forgotten in your lap.
“Good girl.”
The Doctor’s voice was rough, tired, like sandpaper, and you could feel it scrape against your skin. You’d been reading out loud to her, a quiet murmur in the late hour. She’d asked you to stop, her praise given for your silence.
Her eyes turned up to you, widening barely a fraction of an inch. You felt your cheeks heat up and you ducked your head. She wasn’t meant to have heard, you didn’t want her to have heard. Your fingers tapped against the pages of the book. She shifted, the sofa cushions compensating for the change. A warm hand landed on top of yours, stilling your fingers.
“I should probably go to bed,” you said, the words quick on your tongue, “it’s late and I’m sure you have something wonderful planned for tomorrow.”
You stood, abrupt enough for her to fall back from you. You can’t bear to look at her as you hurried out of the room.
The fourth time she’d done it, you were treading water, struggling against the roiling waves of the ocean. Your hair was plastered to your head and adrenaline was still coursing through your veins. Your laughter cut off and you thought the sea might turn to steam where it touched your skin. You shivered, her arms holding on to you, keeping you from drifting away.
“Good girl.”
You’d always been good at following instructions. Jumping off the cliff at the Doctor’s shouted command had been one of the wilder ones you’d followed but you trusted her with your life. Still gasping from the rush, the words had come tumbling from her lips. Water drops clinging to her skin, her eyes were bright and her smile was wide.
She was so close, her arms around your waist. Your hands were resting on her shoulders and having her so close as those words came from her lips was both heaven and hell. She was watching you and you were finding it hard to catch your breath.
“I do appreciate when people can follow instructions,” she said, still grinning that beautiful grin, “surprisingly rare but a good skill to have. I wish everyone had your skills. Good skills. Brilliant skills. Brilliant person.”
“Thank you.”
A wave buffeted you both. She grinned, letting you go and making her way to shore. It took a moment for your brain to kick back in, to remember how to use your arms and legs appropriately. The cold water was the best thing for you in that moment.
The fifth time she’d done it, you knew she did it on purpose. Your teeth sunk into your bottom lip and your breath stuttered in your chest. Hands resting on the counter either side of your waist, caging you in, her eyes were dark, tongue darting out to wet her lips as she watched you.
“Can I try something?”
You hadn’t heard the Doctor come into the kitchen, turning around sharply. You were the only one in the TARDIS, the others back home with family relaxing, and you had assumed she was busy doing her constant repairs. But there she was, hands on her hips, looking at you with those eyes you found it hard to say no to.
“Sure,” you said, not sure what you were agreeing to.
Her steps were slow and steady, almost predatory, as she approached you. You froze, not sure what to do. It was as if she was pinning you down with one look. Her hands came up, trapping you against the counter. She lent closer, her breath ghosting over your lips.
“Good girl.”
The words were said with purpose. Enunciating each syllable as if they were a loaded gun. She watched your reaction, her own breathing becoming heavier, chest brushing against yours. Gaze dropping to your lips, something in her seemed to shift.
“Interesting,” she murmured.
“What is?” Your words were little more than an exhalation of breath.
“Your reaction to being called a good girl.” Her eyes swept down then back up, “you thought I wouldn’t notice but I have.”
You pressed your lips together, embarrassment rising in you. You thought you’d been doing so well keeping it under wraps. You’re been trying so hard.
“I notice everything about you,” she continued on as if not saying something sanity smashing, “I wonder if you’d have the same reaction if someone else called you a good girl.”
You made a strangled noise but shook your head, heat creeping over you. It was almost impossible to believe you were having this conversation with her, with the Doctor. Her gaze rested on your lips again, eyes growing molten.
“Yes, that was the noise that made me begin to realise,” she said, more to herself than you.
With a featherlight touch, her fingertip grazed over your lips. You didn’t mean for it to happen, but you whimpered, eyes fluttering closed. You heard her breath hitch, fingers stilling on your skin. You couldn’t bear to open your eyes to her, to let her see exactly how she was effecting you.
“I hope you don’t react this way if other people call you a good girl,” she murmured.
Your knees felt as if they were about to buckle. Your fingers grasped the edge of the counter, clenching painfully. Your breathing was ragged and there was a persistent throb between your legs.
The fingers were removed from your lips. You tensed, not sure what was going to happen next. Warmth grew closer and a pair of lips brushed against the shell of your ear.
“Good girl.”
With a strangled moan your eyes shot open. You released the edge of the counter and grasped her face between both hands. Pressing your lips against hers was electrifying. Every nerve ending was standing to attention and you were gasping into her mouth. She took a step closer, her body pressing against yours and it was too much and not enough and your head was spinning.
Strong hands pressed against your lower back, those powerful arms encircling your body. Her tongue swept into your mouth, taking charge as you whimpered, clutching at her. It was better than you’d dreamed and surpassed your hopes, hot and intense and desperate. She was kissing you like you were the air she breathed and she’d been starved for too long.
She lifted you until you were sitting on the counter, legs caught either side of her hips. Your fingers slipped into her hair, tugging on it. The moan that rumbled through her chest had you losing any semblance of control you had. All you could do was kiss her, wanting to feel her everywhere.
Her lips pressed to the soft skin behind your jaw, gently nipping at it. Your head was swimming. Her tongue was tracing patterns down the column of your neck and you held on to her, needing more, always more, encouraging every scrape of teeth against skin.
She kissed you again, slower and deeper, taking her time to explore. You were putty in her hands, turning into a mess as her tongue stroked along yours. Her fingers gently skimming along the skin of your back, worming under your shirt. You arched into her, feeling that same electricity run along your skin. There was something about her touch that had you addicted, needing more, needing it forever.
By the time she drew away you knew you were more puddle than person. You whined, trying to pull her back into a kiss. She chuckled and it made you feel warm all over. Those eyes of hers were still smouldering and her lips were kiss stung. Hair in disarray and colour high on her cheeks, she looked more beautiful than a sunrise. You wanted to kiss her again.
“Fascinating,” she murmured, running her fingertips along your lips again. You kissed them, watching the way her face lit up.
“Is it?” It was hard to concentrate with her standing between your legs and her fingers on your skin.
“I don’t think you understand exactly how fascinating I find you,” she said, her voice molten, “you’re always surprising me in new ways.”
“I am?” It was like the world was shifting underneath you.
“Just when I think I have a handle on you, you do something so wonderful I can’t help myself. I want to know everything about you. I want to praise you.” Her voice dropped an octave and you shivered, “you’re so good.”
Your legs instinctively tightened around her. A look of delight lit up her face and it made your heart miss a beat. She was so wonderful.
“Is it like this with other people?” she asked, fingers traced patterns over the top of your thighs. It was making it hard to concentrate on the conversation.
“Is what like this?” you asked.
“Does this happen with everyone who praises you?” she asked.
“No.” You bit down on your lower lip, “just with you.”
“Why?” Her head tilted to the side, eyes sweeping over you again.
“I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I have a bit of a crush on you,” you said, “only you.”
Wonder lit her up from the inside out. You could see how her eyes sparkled, brightening from the smoulder she’d been directing at you. A matching grin spread over your face as she continued to look at you as if you were a galaxy spiralling before her eyes.
“Kind of leaving me hanging here, Doc,” you said as the silence continued to stretch.
“Oh, right, yes, of course. I think you’re amazing. The bee’s knees. The cat’s pyjamas. Just the best. Absolutely brilliant. Mind blowing. You blow my mind,” she said, “and I can’t stop thinking about you. You’re always in my head. I’d tell you to get out but it’s quite nice having you in there. You can stay. I’d like you to stay.”
“Doc?”
She looked at you with such hope in her eyes. Your fingers, still tangled in her hair, gently tugged her closer.
“You can just kiss me again,” you told her.
You weren’t the only person who could follow instructions.

Happy Sunday, everyone! Thanks for the tags @heartstringsduet, @sznofthesticks, @theghostofashton, @carlos-in-glasses, @three-drink-amy, @bonheur-cafe, @lemonlyman-dotcom, @freneticfloetry for the tags! At risk of sharing everything from the Carlos character study and the Time Loop AU, here's way more than seven sentence of something that was born out a conversation with @strandnreyes many moons ago.
“I’m just nervous,” Carlos mutters out, his voice void of any type of certainty. TK’s eyes glance over at Carlos’ hands and notices just how clenched his fingers are wrapped around the steering wheel. His cold heart thaws, just slightly. He reaches out and delicately, turns Carlos’ face towards him.
“You don’t need to be,” TK says softly, warmly. He smiles and Carlos, for some reason, believes him. “How about, you and I go some place private,” TK places his hand around Carlos’ thigh, squeezing it to let him know his full and undivided attention is on the man in front of him. “and I help you calm your nerves.”
Carlos can feel the spools of desire begin to unravel within him. All he can do in response is nod and begin driving towards Sunrise Chalet Inn.
“What should I call you, sweetheart?” TK leans back in the passenger seat, reaching into his breast pocket for his carton of cigarettes and his lighter.
Carlos responds with the answer he’s given every person in Hollywood since he first touched ground. “Carl,” Carlos says. “Carl Reynolds.”
“Oh wow, you are new to this,” TK answers, his voice full of mirth. “One, never give your full name. Two,” TK chuckles before saying. “Carl Reynolds?”
“You don’t believe me?” Carlos asks, falling into a cadence that he didn't even know there was there to be unearthed.
“You don’t even sound like you believe you,” TK replies, smiling around the cigarette in his mouth.
open tag + no pressure tags under the cut :)

After screaming about Scar and Pearl for roughly an hour, i have been convinced to share some of my thoughts. Which may or may not hurt. ALSO: secret life spoilers ahead, be wary. (all of the below entries are copy and pasted, and may not make sense altogether. some go with others, but maybe a little more of them are alone)
While Scar and Scott were half fighting with each other (Scott was trying to shoot him) he was talking about how he chose Pearl and their team over him, and Pearl and Scar were stuck together in the end, the two most wronged by their partners in Double Life (Martyn is up there, but he didn't really have it bad because he has always been a free roamer, unless he has someone to devote too) but Scott, the one who was talking to Scar about this, was also the one who left his soulmate alone. Maybe Scar saw that Scott was to blame. Maybe he saw some sort of hope in Pearls eyes that he wasn't going to tell Scott he was just playing both sides. And maybe Scar figured that she needed someone. And he could understand. They were quite similar, after all :)
Not a copy and paste but thinking about ship names (or duo name) whether platonic, qpr, or romantic, and a dear friend of mine said Moonflower, or Scarlet moon (i am a Moonflower girlie myself)
grian can go to Hermitcraft knowing that we are reaching the end of Hermitcraft (LAST SECRET LIFE SESH RECORDING was 9 days before the end and we have 5 now. how many minecraft days can our weirdo blobs fit) and he thinks, I can finally talk to scar about 3rd life because he's a winner now he remembers if we're doing backwards winners curse, and then be goes to talk to scar in scarland, but stops because. He's with Pearl. And the two of them are laughing and crying, but Grian can see just how close those two winners are so instead he turns and walks away, knowing that he's safe from the watchers with Pearl even if it hurts so badly.
AND AND. specifically. how they won. because it's not like, oh we can talk to each other and get answers from each other, its that it was the exact same method. Scott killed himself both times, and both Scar and Pearl were alone
grian can go to Hermitcraft knowing that we are reaching the end of Hermitcraftthey were both treated wrong by soulmates, (Grians cheating, Scott leaving Pearl), AND OMG that hurts so much more in that paragraph i wrote before cause what if Grian's like, i deserve it for how i treated him, because he knows that he unintentionally uses other players just so he can survive in the games (LAST SECRET LIFE SESH RECORDING was 9 days before the end and we have 5 now. how many minecraft days can our weirdo blobs fit) and he thinks, I can finally talk to scar about 3rd life because he's a winner now he remembers if we're doing backwards winners curse, and then be goes to talk to scar in scarland, but stops because. He's with Pearl. And the two of them are laughing and crying, but Grian can see just how close those two winners are so instead he turns and walks away, knowing that he's safe from the watchers with Pearl even if it hurts so badly.
quoting a friend (not the one who helped with the names) as a reply to my earlier idea of grian angst: "GRIAN THINKING HE DESERVES IT AUGH I LOVE THAT. the two soulmateless people becoming eachothers soulmates !!"
my reply to my friends words (the bit one line above this one), and the thing that really hit my the most: "no no not soulmates. that's two bittersweet for them. no they want something more fluffy, like tilly or jellie. Something like 'partners.' or 'Lovers' but never soulmates. Because really, as much as how they were treated hurt. their soulmates lead them too each other. And well, if you have a soulmate that isn't romantic, it's only fitting if they lead you to the person for you that is, whether they mean it or not.
Help i need sleep but the token semi straights are slapping me with swords-

(Read it on AO3)
For @tw-anchor-down's Full Moon Round. Pairing: Stiles Stilinski/Derek Hale Rating: Teen and Up Words: 5620 Summary:  Eli has trouble with his shift, which wouldn't be so embarassing if he wasn't the only one in the family who hasn't found his anchor yet. Then his father gets kidnapped. He's a Stilinski-Hale, though. Was he really expecting to have an easy life?
"I still think you should come with us."
His dad lingered in the doorway like a bad habit he couldn't shake. His eyes were achingly hopeful - something Eli considered one of his dad's greatest weaknesses: seeing more potential in someone than truly existed.
"I made my choice, Dad," Eli stated with perhaps more edge to his voice than intended. It wasn't the effect of the full moon, just the exasperation of this short exchange between them slowly developing into a monthly routine by now. "Just go, have fun. I'll be fine."
His dad nodded with that tight-lipped smile and head duck combo that let Eli know just how reluctant his father's compliance was. It didn't matter much in the end because he was soon disappearing into the woods with two of Eli's siblings on his literal tail and one riding atop his back, while Eli was left sighing wistfully after their retreating forms and enduring the mockery of his own human-looking fingers.
"All wards are up," His tata announced cheerily once the front door's lock slid into place, and he emerged from the kitchen with two highly mounted bowls of popcorn. "So. What are we watching?"
Eli shrugged dejectedly, grabbing one consolation bowl for himself. "What about that new superhero movie with the dude who can manipulate time?"
"Now you're talking my lingo," His tata finger-gunned him as they made their way towards the living room.
"Don't say 'lingo'," Eli grimaced, then pointed to the bowls, "Only two?"
"Your sister's already called dibs on the scoop."
Sure enough, Tally was sprawled out on the couch - looking like a Greek depiction of hedonism - with a tube of ice cream mixed in with jelly beans at the ready. Apparently, four years was enough time to get accustomed to a life with siblings.
"Hey, make space, peasant," Eli ordered as he grabbed hold of his sister's ankles and tossed them off the couch.
"Na-ah, dogs aren't allowed on the couch," Tally grinned, placing her feet back up.
"A dog joke? That's very original."
"You're not my boss," Tally smiled devilishly as she popped a gummy bear into her mouth, "And you never will be because you're not the next alpha in line. Deedee will inherit the power."
"Seriously?" Eli grunted (mostly to no one) and turned to his father with open arms and a face that screamed 'Do something!'.
"You gotta fight your own battles, kiddo," Was his tata's helpful reply from the comfort of his ensured seating. The family's armchair was always reserved for him and Dad, and courageous be the person who breaks that rule.
Eli huffed indignantly, standing directly in front of his sister and blocking her view. "I'll throw popcorn in your hair."
"I'll catch it in my mouth." Tally retaliated, trying to scoot lower to better see the TV.
It was basically a challenge at that point, so Eli couldn't be blamed for throwing a handful at her and then seizing the opportunity to settle onto the couch when she flailed to catch the popcorn bouncing off her face.
"That was cheating," Tally accused petulently, "Tata, Eli cheated!"
"Tallytab, just share the couch with your brother."
Tally glared at Eli with such ferocity even a werewolf would envy, and so Eli very maturely stuck his tongue out at her while their tata searched the new movie up on MetvX.
"You know," Their tata started in that fake-nonchalant tone that set alarms off in Eli's head, "It sure would be better to run in the wild than hang out with your old man and your little sister."
Eli didn't answer at first, partially because it was true, but mostly because they both knew the exact reason why Eli wasn't joining the others on their run. This was the same old topic, and he was getting kind of tired of all the pestering.
"I don't want to ruin their night."
"You wouldn't," His tata reassured, like always.
"But I did," Eli countered, stubbornly refusing to make eye contact with his father, "Twice. First, my powers didn't even manifest and they had to jog beside me and escort me the whole time so I wouldn't twist my ankle. The second time my powers did manifest, and what would you know? I lost control! And almost ate someone's cat. Raw."
"Yucky," Tally grimaced while the movie's intro began to play.
"I am better off here within the wards," Eli mumbled with finality, and thankfully, after a few seconds, his tata conceded and turned his gaze back to the TV.
And Eli definitely didn't spend the entire movie thinking about how cool it would be to run under the moonlight.
***
His parents always insisted that Eli was a late bloomer. In all honesty, Eli wasn't sure if he wanted to believe that because 1) if it turned out he wasn't actually a werewolf (with a spark for a father that was more than likely), it would be pointless to fool himself and 2) if he was indeed a werewolf but without an anchor to stabilize him, maybe it was better for his abilities not to manifest at all. It was embarrassing enough that his three younger, non-human siblings were already masters of their powers, while he - as the oldest child - was falling behind.
His "brooding" ("He inherited this from you, Der! It's your fault!") was interrupted by an all-too-familiar voice cutting through the general ruckus of a high school's lunch period.
"Oops, better watch out next time, guard dog."
Dominic's words were seeping with derision, drawing the entire student body's attention - and thus Eli's and Hikari's eyes, too - to the group of jocks parting the sea of teenagers as they made their way across the cafeteria. Although Eli was part of the same team, he was considered a "last resort" most of the time and so couldn't sit with the star players (they said so), not that he had any desire to abase himself like that. That clique was dedicated solely to competing with and bringing down anyone who posed a supposed threat to them, and that was why Dominic deliberately rammed into Mars's shoulder while passing him, almost sending the younger boy's tray clattering to the floor. It seemed that two months had brought no change on that front.
Eli and Hikari nodded to each other before quickly gathering their trays and joining Mars and his friend Rain on the other side of the room.
"Good reflexes," Hikari complimented as they settled opposite the two sophomores.
"Still not good enough to make team captain," Mars mumbled, his fingers absent-mindedly drumming atop the table.
"Don't worry, the others will eventually realize what a dick he is, and then they'll pick you as their new captain, for sure. You'll be unstoppable." Eli comforted with more hope than actual conviction.
"Not as long as he has his following," Mars shook his head, his nails turning pointy for a second before returning to their normal shape.
"How do you do it?" Hikari asked, eying the group of jocks with disdain, "I would have sliced him open with my katana by now. I might still do it. What's stopping me?"
"The law?" Eli asked, to which Hikari rolled her eyes like their statutory rules were a particular inconvenience of hers.
"I can't lose control," Mars answered the original question, "That would diminish any chance I have against that douchbag. And you know how much trouble I could get into."
Unfortunately, they all knew. Their school was extremely unsympathetic towards supernatural creatures - a result of humans trying to adapt to cohabitation with the supernatural in the past decade with more adverse success than not - meaning that the smallest slip-up could get you behind bars or sentenced to excessive community work, and that was the favourable scenario. A family of werewolves already had to leave town because of the backlash they faced from the community, and Mars clearly didn't want to bring their family to the same fate.
"But you've only been a werewolf for what? Four months?" Hikari continued, digging into her mashed potatoes with gusto, "Your control is impressive."
"He's just good at everything," Rain interjected in half-amusement half-irritation, "Lacrosse, self-control, maths. And here I am, still unable to figure out my powers."
"Yeah," Mars grinned back at his friend, "Otherwise you could tell me if I'mma ever win against that fuckin' scrub."
Rain looked ceiling-wards like this wasn't the first time this conversation happened, and Eli could seriously understand their struggle. Obviously, he didn't know the next thing about psychic powers, but he had first-hand experience with the frustration that came with not having a handle on your superhuman nature.
"How did Derek teach you control so quickly, anyway?" Hikari inquired, and Eli once again remembered why Mars refused to mingle with his friend group at school.
"He told me to find an anchor," Mars stated simply, then pointed to the wireless earbud in his right ear, "Back in my town, me and my friends would go to the basketball court after school hours. Some of them were art students from around the block so they would bring music and like, get buck wild with the moves, man. It was crazy! And the music reminds me of that time."
"Before the bite," Eli finished the other's thoughts.
"Yeah," Mars nodded dolefully, "Derek said that I could use music as my anchor. Ya know, to remind me that I'm still in control of my body and shit. Just like when I'm dancing."
"What are you listening to?" Eli asked, expecting some heavy metal to channel all that anger.
However, when Mars offered the unused earbud to him, Eli realised he shouldn't have been surprised to hear Dua Lipa's Levitating blasting at full volume from the device.
"These songs are so old school," Eli remarked as he gave the earbud back.
"Yeah, and they are still slammin'," Mars replied confidently before explaining: "Gets me into a good mood. Better than the techno shit that's so hyped right now."
"I guess," Eli shrugged.
"You'll get the hang of it," Mars said, voice much lighter, "Like Derek says: it takes persistence and belief."
"You mean stubbornness and spite," Eli corrected, prompting Mars to laugh and the conversation to drift to different topics.
In the following three days, Eli tried to rely on his own tunes to call his wolf forward without any noticeable progress. His powers seemed unwilling to show themselves after that one catastrophic full moon, and all he got from his music therapy was back pain (from trying to lift the family car) and a twisted ankle (from jumping out of his second-floor room). For a whole week, the only thing he could think about was how fast his siblings would heal from these injuries, although, finally having an excuse to warm the bench at lacrosse games was a welcomed repercussion.
***
"Bye, have fun!" Despite the cheery goodbye, his tata hadn't come back into the house yet, which could only mean one thing: Eli's parents were shamelessly making out on the front porch, which, first off, ew, and second, the movie now couldn't be started lest they risked getting grounded for a week.
This will take a while, Eli thought as he got comfortable on the couch.
"Why don't you go?" Tally asked nosily as she was prone to do when she was overcome by boredom.
"To be a burden? No thanks."
"But you have powers!"
"Do you see them anywhere? 'cause I don't."
"Three full moons ago you did that parkour from roof to roof, that was cool. And! And you slept in the lion's cage at the zoo."
"It's interesting how you remember all that but you couldn't recall this afternoon where my pop tarts disappeared to." Eli groused, hoping his parents weren't using tongue or this would be a long interrogation for Eli.
"Would it help if I punched you?" Tally suggested, making Eli wonder if his family was a bad influence on her, "Pain's s'possed to help."
"You punching me with your noodles arms? Yeah, totally gonna work."
It was Eli's fault, really, letting his guard down, because the next second, Tally reached over the couch and punched him square in the arm with all the force of a fierce primary schooler.
"Ow, what the-"
"I guess it doesn't," Tally pouted, before settling back into her corner, "Or you're just a loser."
"Thanks," Eli said while rubbing his arm, "But I'm not the adopted one."
"No, I am. Which means our parents at least wanted me."
Eli shot his sister a death glare, unsure how so much evil could fit into such a small body. "They wanted me too! I'm the oldest, which means they anticipated me the most."
"Weren't you a surprise?"
"Okay, let's just start the movie already," Eli grumbled, deciding that getting his ass whipped by his tata was still a better choice than his present torment.
"I just don't know why you're scared."
"I'm not," Eli denied rather weakly.
"You are. You're scared to go on runs."
"Finding an anchor is hard, alright?!"
"But it isn't," Tally argued, clutching her unicorn plushie tighter, "When I get mad, I just think of a nice place and the anger goes away."
"A nice place?"
"Like that," Tally pointed towards the kitchen, and Eli immediately knew she was talking about one of her drawings they had on the fridge. The one with the cove on it.
"That calms you down?"
"Yeah," Tally affirmed, "When Rony exploded my dinosaur plushie with that fireball, I was really angry at him. But then I remembered what the kid in that cartoon said about anger, and how it's normal, but sometimes you can't do anything to change what's happened so you have to focus on something else. So I did what he did and imagined a place where I was happy. Like that beach where my parents took me once. I liked it, we collected a bunch of seashells."
"The ones in your room?"
"Aham," Tally said, looking at her plushie instead, "Mom said that life is like the ocean, and we are just tiny seashells in it. And that waves come and go, like bad feelings. So when I feel something bad, I just remember the waves and I know if I don't fight it, it will pass. And I'll be happy again."
Eli didn't know what to say, he was mostly just stunned into silence. Thankfully, that was the moment their tata came back to the room, hair a tousled mess and lips slightly bloody, a pink flush colouring his cheeks that Eli wished was from embarrassment.
"I'll be, um... down... in a sec," Their tata excused himself as he ran upstairs, no doubt into the bathroom, and Eli made sure to put this memory later onto the list of 'Reasons why my future therapist will side-glance me'.
It was a small solace to know that Tally shared his misery.
***
The elevator jostled as it came to an abrupt stop, stuck between two levels, and soon descending into darkness before the backup lights flickered on.
"They shut down the power," Audie noted, pressing the emergency bell in vain.
"Really? I wouldn't have figured it out on my own," Eli sassed, carding through his hair in frustration, "Just so you know, I'm blaming you for this."
Audie glared him down in response, having already mastered her look of alpha reproval at the age of 16, and Eli was once again dreading the day she would take over the family territory. Eli was nevertheless right: his sister had been the one to insist he drove them to the hospital as soon as Melissa's call came in. Apparently, vampires had been secretly feeding on half-leg-in-the-grave patients until Melissa noticed the bite marks belonging to a person who had previously shown signs of improvement, and Eli's parents shortly arrived at the premises to confirm her theory. The vampires, for obvious reasons, weren't thrilled about the deputies now monitoring the halls, and long story short, the whole nest showed up, Eli's parents were kicking ass, but the bloodsuckers were hauling people out of the wards with inhuman speed and wiping the witnesses' memories, and so here Audie and Eli were. As reinforcement.
As if.
"Would you have let them fight alone?" Audie berated, her voice almost as threatening as the yellow glow of her eyes.
"Our parents can handle it, that's what they do."
"So you think this isn't your responsibility?"
"Since when is a vampire attack our responsibility?" Eli snarled, unable to unravel his sister's point, "The adults should handle it, with the cops! And they had it under control."
"Yeah, as much as a fucking wildfire," Audie hissed, her breaths coming quicker with every new scream her ears were able to pick up on, "Our parents are out there and who knows what is happening to them! Innocent people are getting used as some kind of all-you-can-eat buffet, we are stuck in this goddam elevator, and you say you don't care?!"
Audie's words came out as a near growl by the end, and Eli recognized the telltale indications of an impending panic attack. His sister's shift usually came along with the fear, and that was one of the reasons she had been home-schooled last year - more out of embarrassment than the possibility of hurting someone. Eli felt horrible, both because he had somewhat contributed to their messy situation and also because he was lost for what to do. Their parents knew how to deal with the panic attacks, but now Eli felt ashamed that as an older brother he never learnt how to help his sister. Audie might be the next alpha in line, but Eli was her big brother, and it was his job to look after her.
Audie growled again with fangs elongating and claws sinking into her palms painfully, and Eli contemplated getting closer to her before barely discernable words were audible around her heavy breathing.
"Alpha... beta... omega..."
It was like a chant she kept repeating despite the interruption of screams from outside. Audie clutched her triskele necklace - a smaller version of the family talisman - while attempting to regulate her breathing and not relenting until her face was devoid of wolfy features. Suddenly, all sounds ceased past the doors, and the normal lighting returned as the elevator jerked back into motion.
"We're moving."
Audie opened her eyes, tucked her necklace back into her shirt and steadied her stance against whatever was awaiting them downstairs.
"Get ready to fight," Audie commanded, her voice leaving no space for disobedience, "We are Hales. This is our legacy. We protect people."
The words appeared to calm her down, and Eli had no wish to fight her claims. He took a deep breath instead.
"I'll protect you," Audie promised out of nowhere, just as the doors opened to a crowd of disoriented and terrified people.
Alongside his sister, Eli felt unexpectedly secure.
***
"You can do this," Their father repeated but Eli wasn't even sure the message was getting across to his little brother. Rony had curled up on the floor a few minutes ago, face hidden behind his knees while he rocked rapidly back and forth, and didn't show any indication of abandoning his chosen corner in the family basement.
"Ican'tIcan'tIcan'tIcan'tIcan't..." Were the words on a loop that Rony whispered with his hands stubbornly covering his ears. Audie was kneeling in front of him, struggling not to touch Rony after that one time the boy screamed at the contact, but their sister was evidently getting more riled up by the minute.
"Yes, you can!" Audie pressed, despite the futile incentive, "Rony, you have to focus. You have to find Tata."
"You're the only one who can do this," Their dad affirmed in a softer tone, not that it mattered. He was just as, if not more, wrung out than the rest of their family, so his encouragement registered more as a desperate plea rather than a confident boost.
It all went to hell when their tata was running away from the nest of vampires. He had concealed his scent and heartbeat to hinder the nest's manhunt, but his plan had backfired when their dad failed to locate him as well. Now their tata was taken and their other father was clearly blaming himself for losing sight of his mate, and Eli's little brother who was only 13 and barely having started working on his magic was the only one with the means to salvage the situation. The problem was that location spells weren't an easy trick for beginners, especially those under immense stress of possibly losing a parent.
"I can't do this, he's gonna die," Rony muttered under his breath, further upsetting every else in the room.
Eli could feel the waves of worry wafting off Mars when he leaned closer.
"He has no confidence," Mars noted to Eli, "Like when he does math. He has to feel like he knows what he's doing to make it work."
Meanwhile, their dad was rumbling lightly and taking loud breaths in the hope that Rony would follow his example.
"You've done this once, Rony," Their dad said after a minute of useless attempts, "I saw it. You did it with Tata."
"But he was here then, and now he isn't..."
Eli felt so powerless - a state that was becoming aggravatingly regular. The only thing he could think about was the responsibility he had as the oldest sibling, how he had to do something. This was about their family, for crying out loud!
"Hey, Rony," Eli sank to the ground much to everyone's surprise, and truly, he shared the sentiment. He would have also liked to know what he was going to do next. "List me all the Star Wars movies in chronological order."
"What?" Audie whisper-shouted but Eli just pushed her face away.
“The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, The Clone Wars, Revenge of the Sith, A Star Wars Story from 2018 and then the one from 2016, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker, and A New Order from 2026.”
“Awesome,” Eli said a bit stupefied, biting his lip as he racked his brain for another one of those rants Rony was prone to, “Oh! Who's the most commonly appearing character in the Marvel comics?”
“Wolverine.”
“What was the first PG-13 movie?”
“Red Dawn.”
“Where did they film the Lord of the Rings?”
“New Zealand.”
“How many movies are in the Fast and Furious series?”
“21.”
Throughout the impromptu quiz, Rony’s heart rate began to gradually settle, and Eli could see Audie's curious eyebrow raise from the side.
“What?” Eli cracked, turning to his sister with an irate look, “I pay attention.”
“Except in school,” Audie replied, but their bickering was short-lived when they noticed Rony's grateful eyes blinking up at them.
“How…?”
Their father was rubbing his thumb against the back of Rony's neck - a soothing gesture and subtle pain leech wrapped in one - and he gave Eli a silent nod as the ghost of a smile tentatively returned to his face.
“If you can remember all of these things,” Eli turned to Rony with a proud smile, “Then you can also remember a location spell.”
Rony stared ahead with unfocused eyes as if contemplating the truth of those words, before rising to shaky legs and addressing the room with a hesitant but determined gaze.
“We’ll need the keys from the jeep.”
***
"You know, for an ambush, it feels kinda like a trap."
"Duck!"
Eli dropped to his knees at Hikari's shrill warning, a dismembered hand quickly joining him on the ground as a vampire hissed above.
"My point still stands," Eli commented, taking a few seconds to assess his surroundings.
He saw Malia's water gun discarded on the side as she was reduced to fighting with her claws, and there was a blast of magic knocking his father somewhere into the far-end walls.
"We need a new plan," Eli grunted as he kicked a looming vampire in the groin and sprung to his feet.
"Do your thing. I'll cover you."
With Hikari's assurance, Eli tried to get a good look at the building's outlay past the nest of vampires swarming the place. There were around ten of them, but the biggest issue had to be his father's adamancy about not killing a single one, only scathing them with holy water and the first rays of sunlight. They timed their attack to the early morning for that exact purpose, not that any light could penetrate the old establishment. In its heyday, it must have been some mythical forest-themed dark ride, which was ironically on-point for their town, but half of it had collapsed into itself and now there was debris littering the base floor where Eli's pack was fending off bloodsuckers left and right. Since the supernatural became a daily addition to the local government's life, the town had to allocate large portions of its funds to defence and covering up tracks, so wastelands like these became the perfect hideouts. Eli now wished they had torn this place down decades ago.
"Let's go up!" Eli shouted, dodging to the side and aiming for a hill of rubble.
"Why did I agree to this?" Hikari muttered under her breath but kept cutting limbs off the occasional vampire as they both climbed their way up towards the roof. Eli even witnessed one grow a new arm out of the severed-off flesh and scrunched up his nose in distaste.
"I'm totally with you, Eli, but you do have a plan, right?" Hikari asked, right as they reached the building's wooden structure.
"Yeah, totally."
"Why did that sound like you don't know what you're doing?"
"Just keep them off!"
Eli continued his ascend until he was perched atop a narrow beam. He balanced against the nauseating prospect of seeing his pack fighting for their lives down below and accidentally caught sight of his father throwing fire blasts at his own family with burgundy hues colouring his eyes. His tata was still under the vampires' mind control, it seemed.
Thankfully, Eli secured his posture on the timber, the roof almost grazing his hair.
"Can you do it?" Eli wished for his friend's help, but Hikari was too busy deflecting vampires as they jumped up to the higher levels.
"You gotta do it, Eli!"
That was an absurd request, seeing how the world was spinning around Eli and he had a serious worry he might faint off the beam.
"Punch through the roof!" Hikari roused, having figured out the contingency plan Eli was going for.
"I can't! I don't know how to transform!"
His heartbeat was fast, too fast, his ears feeling like they were stuffed full of cotton. He felt useless, obsolete, like a deadweight next to Hikari's strenuous work to keep him safe. His family was counting on him, he had to bring the wolf forward, yet, he had no idea where to start.
This was Eli. This was all he ever was. A letdown.
"You did it once, Eli!" Hikari's voice broke through his self-deprecation before she kicked a vampire off the wooden frame.
"Yeah, and lost control."
"Not the full moon!" Hikari grumbled with a look over her shoulder as she reassumed a fighting stance. "It was in first grade! I got lost in the woods!"
"It's just a hunch but maybe this isn't the time to discuss your attempt to find the fairies' kingdom," Eli commented, squatting out of a vampire's swing and punching him a few feet downstairs.
"Yeah, I was dumb, not the point," Hikari hissed, hitting a vampire with the back of her katana and sending him tumbling into another beam. "You found me, Eli! You used your nose and found me! The only reason I got home was because you had your night vision!"
"I was a kid!" Eli argued, looking at his hands and remembering that one dreadful full moon. He hadn't just jumped around on houses and howled at the moon like Tally assumed, he pierced Audie with his claws. He tossed his own father into a tree. He was dangerous. "I couldn't hurt anyone!"
"Stop being afraid or we'll fuckin die!" Hikari shouted, eyes burning with the flames of irritation and fear, "Your family will die, Eli! Do you understand that?!"
Eli's gaze lowered to the ground floor where his siblings were fighting as best as they could, putting themselves in danger despite their father's order to stay behind. He noticed the sheriff shooting special bullets at the half-dead creatures, and Parrish drenching them with the last remains of his holy water beside Mason. Kira was keeping two vampires occupied, while his father was desperately working on getting through to their tata, getting tossed into a nearby wall for his efforts.
There was no telling when backup would arrive. His family could die by that point.
Eli felt a surge of something - a kind of power not unlike the pull of the Moon.
He clenched his hand into a fist and punched upwards, the roof giving way under his knuckles. It hurt, of course, but the strength cursing through his body nearly numbed out all pain and healed his bones before he could really complain about them. He repeated this action a few more times, hearing the wood crack under the pressure and then jumping from the height as the roof began to collapse. Parts of the building's structure shattered around him as he landed in the centre of a ring made by the light filtering through the hole.
Eli immediately sensed a vampire's faltering steps.
"A little light won't save you, boy," One of the vampires taunted, although he made no move to approach the cascade of sunlight.
Eli raised his head and locked eyes with his sister's shocked expression right in front of him. Then, she let her eyes flash back at him while their dad screamed at Eli to find cover.
"Just wait for it, Dad" Audie smirked, and as if on cue, Eli let out a piercing howl.
It was like a shockwave, with the others following him and making the building shake with the vibrations of their battlecry. The humans and the vampires covered their ears, except Eli's tata, who sagged back with the force of it and looked up at Eli with yet again amber eyes above slightly parted lips. He was back.
"Fuck yeah, kid! That's what I'm talking about!" His tata cheered, not wasting a second to gather their dad into the light circle just as the rest of the pack hurried under the protection of the Sun. His tata let the sunlight bounce off his skin and moved the rays around the room like bright, yellow strikes which the vampires fought to evade. It made the scene look like a cheap-quality disco club. "Let's rattle!"
Eli roared with unfamiliar confidence and with their tata on their side, the pack managed to prolong the battle at least long enough for Rain and Tally to finish the circle of mountain ash outside. Before closing the barrier, their tata formed a light shield around them so the supernatural members of their pack could escape while the vampires remained efficiently trapped inside.
As soon as they were outside the mountain ash circle, the local vampire leader appeared on the abandoned amusement park's site, quickly succeeded by Mars and the supernatural council's secretary pulling up in the jeep.
"Is my timing right?" Mars asked with an uncertain sweep of his eyes.
"Perfect, kiddo," Their tata said with a relieved sigh.
"Where are they?" The vampire leader asked, to which Eli's dad pointed to the half-collapsed building.
"They are all alive," He also emphasized which the vampire ruler acknowledged with a grateful nod.
As the leader and the mage secretary went to handle the ragtag nest, Eli pulled Hikari close to his chest and uttered litanies of gratitude to his best friend.
"You were awesome, too," She said in response, pulling away and ruffling Eli's hair in fondness.
"And now?" Eli asked, still breathless and elevated by victory, just as his dad stepped up to his side.
"Now?" His dad repeated, pulling Eli into a half-hug, "Now we go home."
***
His body cut through the current as rows of trees swam past him, leading to the denser part of the forest. The wind abated here, allowing him to hear the noises following his run and alerting him that he wasn’t alone on this special night. Between the branches, the Moon bathed the preserve in guiding light, and soon enough, he stumbled onto a wide cliffside overlooking the expanse of their dark-clad city. Above the clamour of the nightlife below, he heard six familiar heartbeats catch up to him.
Eli's eyes interlocked with his father’s red ones beside him, flashing back yellow in carefree joy. He felt his pack - his family - all around him, and like a thick blanket of fog on an autumn dawn, peace descended to surround him.
He let out an ecstatic howl, his father and siblings following suit, and even the human members' terrible imitations of a howl brought a smile to his face. His tata honked the car on top of that, and their synchronized song filled the alley before climbing high among the stars where his ancestors, undoubtedly, watched on.
The twinkling sky was disturbed by storm clouds gathering somewhere in the distance, but there was no fear in Eli's heart. As Tally had said, the waves would come and go. And Eli had his family to anchor him down.

fuck it's sunday. thank you @cold-blooded-jelly-doughnut @carlos-in-glasses @carlos-tk @heartstringsduet @bonheur-cafe @lemonlyman-dotcom @birdclowns for the tags today. and @lemonlyman-dotcom @reyesstrand @theghostofashton for the tags yesterday for inspiration weekend... i did not do that because i've been hanging out with my sister all weekend so maybe that works. this snippet will almost certainly be binned/ rewritten by the time i come to post. these children are far too emotionally aware. but i'm running out of things to share so we move 🫡
“Do you want to talk about it?” Ana asked quietly. She wasn’t looking at him, instead had her head tilted back to staring at the stars. The moonlight hit her square across the bridge of her nose, shadowing half her face and lighting up the other half in a way Carlos had never seen before.
Carlos didn’t reply. He wasn’t sure he could even put words to all the feelings swirling inside him.
Ana hummed in acknowledgement of his silence. She wasn’t going to push him but she wasn’t going to let him stew in it either.
“Do you think those are the same stars that we see back home? We see them from one angle back home and a different one here?” She asked, nodding to the surprisingly clear night sky. “We all see the same moon because it’s so big or so close? So, when do the stars change? Do we have to go further than Missouri? Further than North America?”
Carlos hunched his shoulders against the gust of wind that blew underneath the blanket.
everyone got to this well early today so have a big fat smooch and an open tag 🫶🏻

The Who x You - Breakfast went wrong...
It was 6:30 in the morning and you were hungry, so you went to the kitchen.
You noticed someone there... he looked like a stranger.
But you decided to go over and make sure... Wait... it was John.
"What are you doing?". At that moment the spoon fell out of his hand.
"JESUS CHRIST" he looked seriously scared. It's the first time you've seen him like this...You noticed that he was mixing cereal with... jelly.
“I understand that you like drinking with Keith, Pete and Roger, but to confuse jelly with milk?" You were surprised even though you had seen worse things.
For example, a few days ago you saw Moonie trying to kill Roger with a plastic knife.
With a fucking plastic knife.
You thought nothing would surprise you. By the time.
"Why are you doing that?" you asked and John showed you where to sit.
"Let me start with the fact that after the last drinking, Keith threw up on my bass. And he left the flakes in the night, and as revenge I wanted to drown them in jelly."
He explained and you laughed. "and I seriously thought Keith was the master of revenge".
"Well, now I will take this title away from him."
He smiled and finished what he started. Suddenly Roger entered the kitchen. Half asleep.
"Hey. Did you sleep?" you asked Roger, and he almost fell to the floor.
You belayed him until he sat down at the small table. "I didn't ask anything..." you said.
"he couldn't sleep. He was afraid that Moonie would come to him again with that plastic knife" John said, placing the bowl next to the microwave.
Roger practically fell asleep at the table. You rubbed Roger's back a little. "Poor Roger... We have to start locking Keith in his room at night. It'll be safer that way."
"Roger, I've got my revenge on that little bastard for trying to stab you with a plastic knife.".
"what have you done?" the singer asked, then you replied, "he mixed Moonie's cereal with the jelly."
Roger, less sleepy, got up to look at the bowl. "Not bad, buddy. This fucker will get you too." Roger stated, and the bassist replied, keeping his face calm, "He won't get me if we lock him in his room at night."
And at that moment Pete walked into the kitchen. He didn't look tired. He functioned normally, did not drink anything and slept at night.
He took the box of cereal and tried to pour it into a separate bowl, which none of the three of you noticed.
He wanted to pour in the cereal.
He poured out the laxative pills...
"Hahaha... very funny. Why did you want to poison me? He asks you, squinting his eyes slightly. "Oh god. It was for Keith. I wanted to take revenge on him. Leave it and just sit down. We are waiting for him."
Pete sat down, talking with you about Moonie. "There's even a key box with the key to his room," said Pete, slowly understanding the seriousness of the situation.
What if Moonie does something worse?
Nobody knew that.
John stood there, pretending to be doing something at the microwave. That he's warming food or something.
And finally our wonderful drummer came, full of joy of life.
"Good morning everyone!" Moon said happily. You and Roger looked at him displeasedly.
After all, it's all his fault.
Keith walked over to the counter and looked into his bowl. He acted shocked for a moment.
But then he did what what no one expected.
He walked up to John and pulled his ass pants down with great force.
John screamed, kicked Moonie in the balls, pulled his pants up and then screamed again, "WHY DID YOU DO THAT?".
"Sorry, but you won't take away my title of best joker"
Roger, you and Pete almost fell off your chairs laughing.
Moonie took the box of cereal tested by then unaware Pete. He poured it into the second bowl.
Plan B.
Moonie starts chasing John around the house, you take one of the laxative pills and put it in Moonie's water bottle in his room.
You've been waiting for quite a long time. After 3 minutes it dissolved. Now you just shake, you leave his room, you signal to John, and John throws Keith over his shoulder and pushes him into the room, locking it.
You and John give each other a high five and head to the kitchen.
Roger and Pete were to secure/remove all sharp items. So that the situation with Roger doesn't happen again. When everything was secured, you could let Moonie go.
John stood with his ass against the table, Roger went to put on something normal, Pete was sitting in the bathroom, and you were talking to John.
Keith took ketchup from the table and poured baking soda there.
He shook it and left it on the table.
And he walked happily towards his room.
A moment later, you made everyone (except Mooni) fries. You took ketchup, unaware of anything, and poured it on everyone. John, Pete, Roger and yourself.
Keith started laughing at his satanic act.
Roger got up and went to Moonie's room. ''Idiot, look what you did''
Moonie laughed even more. Roger kicked him hard in the shin, leaving Moonie's room happy :)
Moonie: *screaming* I'M GOING TO SHIT.
