Saw Tommy on Broadway and it was really cool and good but also the stage version of Tommy fucks with the story in some truly bizarre ways. The specific one I wanna point out is that they set it following World War II (like the movie) but they want to have Tommy’s dad come home right after the war so he can kill Tommy’s mom’s lover (like the album) which means they have him come back in 1945 so they can’t do the album’s “1921” because it’s after WWII but they also can’t do the movie’s “1951” because they decided to have it be 1945. So what’s their solution? They make it so that it’s Tommy’s mom’s birthday and she’s turning 21 years old (so she can say “got a feeling twenty one is gonna be a good year”). And she already has a 4 year old child at this point so she had Tommy when she was 16. This is never acknowledged

In the new documentary, The Stones & Brian Jones, Bill Wyman talks about Brian Jones' efforts to write a song (with Michael Aldred). And we actually get to hear Brian's voice and melody in a quick outtake. Wyman laments that it was never recorded as a finished song. However, fans have noted that the melody is very present in Jones' soundtrack for the 1967 film, A Degree of Murder. I've put the two clips together, so you can hear the progression, from outtake to soundtrack.
