“Yes, it is true. Those that gather at various towns are more welcoming to guests. For those that choose to settle in a more recluse location, usually outside of towns in the forests and mountainsides, they simply wish to be left to their own personal communities.

"It's important to know which areas are already inhabited, as well as learn how to find the signs of occupied territory. If you find yourself in marked territory, you would do best to find a way out as soon as possible. Some do not take too kindly to strangers."

“Being out here, it is nothing like Mezagosa! The largest town in the continent, located in the very heart and center of Paldea, has a bustling economy that relies on things such as tourism and transportation of goods. Some of the communities outside town borders have their own economies that rely on similar things, but places like Mezagosa are fun to see and explore. I surely hope we have a chance to visit while we are here!"

Prince stares off, wide-eyed and bewildered at Maria’s explanation. It looks like he’s trying to contemplate everything she’s said…

"A-ah, my apologies! I'm sure you did not come here for an historical or geographical lesson. Prince gets enough of that from me back home. I am a ‘mon well-versed in all things Paldea, and I would love to share some of its history! Feel free to ask me more specific questions later if you wish to know more…!”

(I didn't fully address the original question in it's entirety, but I promise that I wasn't avoiding it! I wanted to at least TRY to keep this post trimmed as I could, so I figured putting more specific details under a Read More would be the best way to go.

As you might have read in my World's Page, this world of Paldea is different from that which you would know from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. For starters, there are no humans! In this world, Pokémon make up the entire population of Paldea, whether you're in a town or out "in the wild". Without a natural bond with humans, Pokémon rely on each other to get by.

Pokémon you would find "in the wild" are not considered feral Pokémon, but rather individuals that prefer life outside of heavily-populated towns and areas. This is the "danger" that Prince was referring to; a lot of those that choose a more solitary life do so from preference, and as such don't take kindly to outsiders. At least, not complete strangers.

In addition to solitary individuals, some Pokémon prefer living outside of towns, but still wish to gather in groups to build their communities. Again, it's all preference! These groups could be compared to the groups of Pokémon you would see in the wild in Scarlet/Violet, but more the size of a small community.

The real "danger" that exists in this Paldea region fully depends on the group you find. Some might be willing to let you pass, others may demand payment to move through their territory. Others may straight up attack you for trespassing! As Maria said, however, it's important to be able to tell what areas are occupied. Though the characters have mentioned being away from Paldea for some time, I assure you that Maria is more than capable of navigating these areas with ease!)

The Power Blue variant was a uqiue variant to SSC that was sonsered by Autism Speaks, and only given to Splat and Double Dare Trigger Happy (along with their vehicles.)

This makes it the worse variant, why?

Splat and DD.Trigger Happy, with the implied autism with them being both Power Blue, are the two most STRONGLY present stereotypes for the autistic community.

Splat: Very intelligent, gifted individual, but also outcasted by her people for her special interest until it befits them. Very verbal. (Think gifted child), and humanoid.

Trigger Happy: Non-verbal, talks in mostly babbles, hyperactive, non-humanoid, very prone to violence. Crazy.

Would have this been a problem if it wasn't just them? Maybe not. Then again… considering Autism Speaks (even at the time) agent towards shunning the Autistic community and eraticate them….

I know that generaly the art is rebloged to this blog when someone else finds it good and worthy of being here and I don't want to push my drawings on people when they might not like them

Prince stands on Maria's back as she speaks with the Darkrai and waves to Vanta. He smiles to them and squeaks out a little, "Hi." Meanwhile, Maria holds her paw out, bearing a small golden coin.

“Whether a market accepts coin or trade varies from seller to seller. For individuals or small families, either method of payment would likely be accepted; Using coin or trading an item of equal value can often mean the same! For example, a specially-cooked food item traded for numerous food goods such as berries or vegetables would be considered equal. Note, though, that the seller reserves the right to decide what trade is considered fair. Alternatively, simply using coin would often mean just the same for those families or individuals."

Maria: “As for larger markets or shops, much of what you see along the main streets of Mezagosa or Levincia, they will only accept coin. Maybe you’d get lucky to find a seller there that would be willing to trade, but finding something of value to trade with them would be a feat in itself!”

"If you are looking to purchase something from the region or if you are in need of supplies, I am certain you would be able to find something to trade if you do not already possess it. Many Pokémon help cultivate the land to keep a cycle of life running."

((For those with a keen eye, the coin looks a /lot/ like a Gimmighoul coin- this is intentional! These coins serve a different purpose in this Paldea, and look a little different. The square hole is designed to save on material used to create the coin. These aren't necessarily "Gimmighoul coins taken and repurposed", this is what the currency looks like! Gimmighouls collect what would be the equivalent of "loose change", and when hording enough, they would evolve into Goldhengo, as in the games.

Regarding the last part Maria mentioned- this is a nod to random items found on the ground in Scarlet & Violet. However, lore-speaking, things don't randomly fall on the ground- but rather nearby societies, whether towns or personal communities (Refer to this last post for more details on that!), work to keep the land fertile. That way, berries are always growing, trees are always present, and resources are natural to the lands.

Some personal communities would be upset at someone trying to take their resources, but some are willing to trade as well.

TLDR: The economy of this Paldea is very robust and flexible for what the people need!))

Early production deep-dive - Part 5: The first theme opening

Some of the newer phans might not know this yet, but the theme opening used on the show was actually the second version written and produced!

The first theme opening had Guy Moon’s vocals, who was the composer of the show, and had to be scrapped and rewritten because the channel wanted to include more of Danny’s story in the intro. The song that inspired the style of this first version was called, believe it or not, ‘The Invisible Man’ by Queen.

“Butch Hartman: Bob Boyle and I were in Korea in July of 2000. [...] Well, I thought I'd heard every Queen song there was up to that point (I'm a huge fan) but on comes this song called "The Invisible Man". It's a great song and it's all about, yes, a man who is invisible. The lyrics were cool, but the coolest part of the song was the awesome bass line right at the top. I wish I could sing it for you now, but, hey, computers aren't THAT great yet. Long story short, I listened to the song over and over, just really digging on the bass line. And the more I listened the more I thought, "Man, I'd love to use this song as a theme song for a show someday'. Seriously, that's what I thought. Anyway, about 18 months goes by, I pitch "Phantom", it gets going and now we need a theme. I wrote a bunch of lyrics and gave them to Guy Moon then I played him that awesome bass line. I said" I don't care what music you use, just give me a bass line like this". So he did. It's definitely not an exact replica of course, but it's most definitely the same flavor. And my lyrics? Well as many of you know there was another theme for Danny that was written before the current one. This one was a lot more vague about who Danny was and didn't really explain his origin. I thought it was awesome, but the Network wanted me to explain Danny's origin in the title so I had to go and rewrite. This version of the theme song was shared with the public in late July of 2003, during a Nickelodeon panel at the 2003 San Diego Comic Con. The schedule section for the 2003 Con shows which of the crew members went there along with Butch.

I'm so fucking excited to get all this outstanding work done, and for tax season to fuck off. I cannot wait to have more time to play games with pals, go out with friends whom I haven't seen in a few months....go to some random meetups to meet new ppl and create new connections (and perhaps snag me a new person wink wonk LMAO).

I later found the marshmallow mashed under my slipper and had to stand on one foot for a bit while Jon helped clean up the sticky mess
