Christmas eve is in two days, so I thought I'd drop my favourite christmas candy recipe!

Tjong! A homemade minty candy that won't freeze your mouth off ;)

(Please note, this recipe is best done with atleast two people, and you'll need a pair of nitrile gloves each. It also involves touching fairly hot candy, so be careful)

One set of this recipe requires:

4tbsp syrup (light)

4tbsp water

1,5dl sugar

1tbsp butter (approx 50 grams)

Peppermint oil (to taste, my family does about 5 drops)

Food colouring (optional)

Pour in all the ingredients (minus the peppermint oil) into a pan, and heat to 145°C (293F). Add peppermint oil and food colouring of your choice to the molten mixture. Make sure to watch the pan so it doesn't boil over! Then pour the molten sugar onto a well oiled baking tray, waiting for it to cool down a bit.

Put on a pair of nitrile gloves and start forming the candy whilst it's still warm. Stretch it out and fold it into itself over and over again to fill it with air. The candy should get noticeably lighter, usually pastel. Once it's starting to harden you pull it into a long thin worm, grab a pair of scissors and start cutting it. Wrap it in baking paper or powdered sugar once you're done, so it won't stick, and voilà! You've made tjong! Delight in your tasty treats.

This recipe can scale to any amount of tjong you want, but I highly recommend getting atleast one more person to help cut any bigger batch. The candy cools really quickly otherwise.

According to an article in GamesRadar, IDW's My Little Pony 40th Anniversary Special comic will be 100 pages long and feature three separate stories, and will be released on July 12, 2023.

The comic's three main covers each represent one of the stories, and were respectively illustrated by Keisha Okafor, Amy Mebberson and Rose Bousamra.

Synopsis: “Forty years ago, Butterscotch, Blue Belle, Minty, Snuzzle, Cotton Candy, and Blossom cantered onto shelves and into the hearts of children everywhere. Now, join IDW as we celebrate decades of ponies, toys, and friendship! First, from Sam Maggs and Keisha Okafor, travel back to the '80s in a story about four young girls, their My Little Pony toys, and the power of friendship and imagination as they try to save their horse barn from closing. Then, a story from Jeremy Whitley and Amy Mebberson, where Sunny Starscout and her pals learn more about Equestrian history and a place called Dream Valley. And finally, from Tony Fleecs and Brianna Garcia, in 2023, an aunt and her My Little Pony-loving niece have to rely on some dusty G1 toys for entertainment when the power goes out.”
