Hey I know this is a horny blog or whatever but a couple years ago I took a horticulture class and my professor majored in soil science so she was always talking about it and whenever I see you posting about it (which is seldom!!! Post more NOW) it reminds me of her and makes me smile because she was super nice and let me pet her hog in class.
that’s actually SO cool!!! how was the pet hog bc that’s cute asf… tbh. soil science is just so contextual sometimes i don’t wanna just start going on… but when i was little for some reason i just LOVED digging holes. you know that movie holes?? that was me. it was fun.
in my hometown, about 4/5 feet down you’d find a horizon with huge chunks of crystal clear gypsum!!! i’d crack open the lil pieces and they were literally like gems to 7 year old me
"I'm glad she (my younger sister) got the better genes. I'm glad she's not me."
Yes, I was referencing to my MH but also my medical issues.
Is this how Michael felt about his younger siblings? Is that how Natalie felt? Is this what Carmen was feeling and, simultaneously fighting against his whole life?
Siblings trying to protect (parent) their other siblings is such a wide scope. Very interesting...
They were all trying to be good for Donna and the idea of their absentee father. And, later in life, they wanted to protect and provide as their adult selves - to be good enough for each other. To prove that all that hardship wasn't for naught.
Who knew a burned out white male would speak to this Black woman...? UGH
Clawdeen and Venus's family! (Gen1 as Gen3's parents)
I made these a bit rougher than I normally would, and I didn't shade them because I want to make more of these line ups, and if I worried about shading, I'd never get these done. I mean, "Flora's" hair alone, took me so long. It took longer than anything else XD It was fun, but god it was time consuming.
SO, lets start talking about Clawdeen and Venus family!
Clawdeen Wolf! (Both she and Venus kept their maiden names) Achieved her fashion designer dream, and is now happily married with two kids. (Said kids were born via plant magic. Like, grown in plants, like a fairy or something)
Her outfit was intended to be like a mix of gen3's Selena and gen1 Clawdeen. Her boots, which looked cooler in my head, are intended to have a purple galaxy effect in the wedge. She also has a pair of lower heeled boots for busy days at the office when she has to do a lot of walking. Clawrisa's fur coat was a gift from her for her 14th birthday.
Venus Mc Flytrap! She works as a professional garden designer/landscaper, in her spare time she gardens lots of food, which she donates to shelters and the homeless. She also rocks out in her band, the Elementals, whom often do charity events. Married to Clawdeen, and mom to Flora and Clawrisa. (Punkmompunkmompunkmom)
Flora Mc Flytrap! A plant monster like Venus. She shares Venus's love of the planet and Clawdeens love of fashion. She's very outgoing and relaxed, and loves a good spa day. She loves giving her friends self care days. (let it be known, the doll came out after I drew all of this and came up with this, so...there will be both visual and description inaccuracy's. XD) Her pet is Lilian, the plant Chihuahua. (I know it's supposed to be a cat, but it has Chihuahua every, kind of looks like one, and it rides around in that pot like it's a little dog in a purse XD) (aW MAN, I FORGOT HER BABYHAIRS!! uggg!)
Clawrisa Wolf! A werewolf like Clawdeen. She's the younger sibling of Flora. She's a bit of an athletic nerd, with a generally positive attitude. Known for her curiosity. She loves hanging out with her cousin and best friend, Lorelei (gen3 Draculaura)
She has a pet wolf (normal wolf) named Moon, whom is just a puppy.
Chewlian! Venus's pet outgrew his pot, and now lives in his own greenhouse that sits behind the family house. He can also move on his own, using his roots like tentacles. Despite his terrifying appearance, he's never once tried to eat the kids or the other family pets, in fact, he makes a pretty good babysitter.
look. in no way was Always Watching a good movie, let alone a good marble hornets movie. unfortunately it is also true that the Alex Kralie missing poster lives in my head rent fucking free and i can never forget about it
Now that we know that Manny will get some kind of focus episode(s) in the near future, I’ll jot down some of my theories on how his left horn got broken.
Established Facts
Some information courtesy of Shea Fontana’s Twitter that will help inform these theories:
Manny “was raised by his grandmoo and grandbull”
Manny wants to be a veterinarian
Upcoming episodes will reveal that some currently established characters have invisible disabilities
Manny’s new iteration was designed with a conscious effort not to equate being large with being a jerk
Theories
Currently, the theory I find most likely is that Manny was involved in some kind of accident or targeted attack that both broke his horn and killed his parents, thus explaining why he’s been raised by his grandparents. This incident could have thus left him with lasting trauma that gives him nightmares, which could be something Twyla sees and helps him with when she enters his dreams in “Boogey Nightmare”. As seen with Lagoona’s strained family, the show isn’t averse to portraying unfortunate familial circumstances that real kids that watch the show have to live with, so having lost both of one’s parents fits in my opinion. Maybe the accident/attack somehow involved an animal (the equivalent of hitting a deer?), and it ties into his desire to be a veterinarian?
Second theory is that Manny’s effeminate mannerisms (you all saw the way he ran does the stairs and squeed in “The Case of the Missing Squeak”) made his father abuse him for not being masculine enough, to the point of breaking his horn. Eventually his father lost custody and Manny lived with his grandparents since. I find this theory less likely because it feels a bit too much for the show to delve into, even with the above point (especially with how Toralei’s mother & Heath’s fathers are most certainly getting improvement arcs, so an unredeemed abuser feels out of place).
Least compelling & interesting theory was just that Manny was bullied by monsters even bigger than him and they broke his horn. Shrug.
This is an outdated theory now that I’ve gotten to see Manny some more and learned that he was specifically designed with a conscious effort not to equate being large with being a jerk, but I figure I’d include it here for AU fuel and posterity: in the past, Manny used to be more like his G1 counterpart, a bully. Eventually he got into a fight with someone that could hit back, and his horn was broken. After some kind of wake-up call, he turned himself around and became a kind academic.
