#merlin witcher crossover

This isn't Captain Marvel related, but I know you like Merlin. I checked the timelines of both shows, but what do you think about an AU where Merlin and The Witcher (show) exist in the same universe?

I don't know if this makes sense, it just haunted my dreams during a nap today and I can't stop thinking about how funny it would be if Merlin met Jaskier during an adventure and he made a song about his magical greatness without naming him specifically (for anonymity sake), and then Arthur trying to figure out who this wizard in his kingdom is. Gwaine would be loving the song while drunk in a tavern and Lancelot would be trying to hold in his laughter whenever he catches Arthur humming the tune of the song.

Ooh what a fun crossover!

I can totally picture it where Camelot is a kingdom that neighbors the kingdoms shown in The Witcher. Jasiker would casually cross the borders in and out of Camelot whenever he pleased, performing at taverns but also perhaps being invited to perform at a banquet hosted by Arthur. He knows how anti-magic Camelot has been, but once he meets Merlin (and naturally gets caught up in some shenanigans that threatened Arthur's life) he can't help himself. He loves the challenge of using his music to change people's minds about people (just look at how good his PR was for Geralt).

He writes a song about the great, powerful sorcerer Emrys who protects the king from all manners of evil. He doesn't even have to stretch the truth much for a good story.

I think Lancelot heard the song first during his travels. He instantly knew who it was about, but couldn't be surprised that Merlin ended up in a situation to get a song written about him. Gwaine loves the song, and probably sings along to it whenever he hears it.

The first time that Arthur and Merlin hear the song, they both panic for different reasons. Merlin because he is convinced this is going to get him caught and Arthur because apparently a powerful sorcerer was following him around and that makes him very paranoid.

I love this idea and would love to dive into the other implications of an AU where the two are in the same world!

Random thought: Why do I usually see people say Arthur is at the bottom of the lake? Ya know, when Avalon is an isle? Not the lake? Was it not clear enough in the show?

Also, is it just funnier that he’s at the bottom of the lake than the boat actually managed to sail all the way to the isle?

I just think jokes about Arthur sick of eating apples and seeing apples and damn, Gwaine would have have loved this place because of all the apples are kind of funny.

And I just think it’s kind of funny if he’s leaving through the mists and gets lost in the mists, too foggy. Like: Merlin! Damn, I walked back to Avalon. Merlin! Ugh, I walked in a circle again! Merlin!!

From there, you can pick the character-reader relation, open the list link, and find all the fics you're looking for! If you're confused, play around with the links. You'll find what you're looking for.

If you're looking for crossover fics, pick one of the fandoms in the crossover. At the end of that list there is a Crossover Works link. You should be able to find the fic there.

other important notes:

some lists are short and list all the characters and their works without having extra links. These are easy to navigate.

reader traits such as male!reader and autistic!reader are listed next to the fic title and DO NOT have seprate lists.

I tried my best to sort out all the crossover works, but this was already a huge project and some probably slipped through the cracks. I sorted everything to the best of my abilities, but it would have been impossible to read through every single work (and I'm unfamiliar with most of these fandoms). Dialogue I think, and fluff. And I think I can usually get their voices pretty spot on fairly quickly usually.

Details, I have to really think about putting in details. And I write quite slow.

17. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

Love it as long as a translation happens either within the fic, or in the author's notes so I know what it says. I use the Vulcan language a fair bit in my Trek fics.

18. First fandom you wrote in?

Technically it was Harry Potter before I knew what fanfiction even was. But it was Supernatural when I knew it was fanfiction I was writing, and it was the first fandom I posted fic for. My first fic: Acceptance (Supernatural)

What fandoms do you write for?

Used to write for The Witcher, Supernatural and BBC Merlin, but not anymore. Currently writing for The Untamed and Mysterious Lotus Casebook (mostly the latter). There's one Love Between Fairy and Devil ficlet in there somewhere. I can't see myself making the space for anything else soon :')

What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

One Ignorant Bard and His Witcher - The Witcher, geraskier (3.1k)

What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I have a terribly hard time writing fics that end angsty, the best I can do most times is bittersweet. That being said...

It will never be the same (1.5k) - Jiang Cheng returning to the Jiang Ancestral Hall after Guanyin Temple and speaking to his dead family. The night after Guanyin Temple, Jiang Cheng finds himself standing in the Jiang Ancestral Hall. Some things, long realised but unspoken, finally get said.

Found (34.5k) - Lan Wangji's angsty boy winter, set mid-canon during the 16 years wwx is dead and brimming with OCs. I really wanted to wallow in what made him the man he is during those years. Naturally I sent him off to a village beyond the Jianghu and gave him a boyfriend. It's incredibly angst filled and the ending is hopeful, but still sad by my standards.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I'm a hopeless sap! Too many of them are happy endings!! Given my current MLC brainrot, I'll have to say it's the three post-canon liansanjiao fics I've written with them being soft together and at peace <3

I have a special soft spot for Foolish though, because Jiang Cheng deserves a happy ending story ;-;

Do you get hate on fics?

I'm not popular enough for hate hehe

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

YES!! It took a lot of work but now I do! Sometimes very explicit, sometimes not. It's mostly chaotic and soft and at times emotional. Laughter and banter during sex is cocaine to me and it shows.

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Sadly, no

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not as far as I know

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Have gotten a couple of requests to translations into Russian and French, but none of them ever went through as far as I know

What's your all-time favorite ship?

You can't do this to me I refuse to pick ;-;

What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Oh, there are too many, but the one I'm most invested in rn is a postcanon MLC fic where difang manage to save Li Lianhua's life and very many Feelings are had.

What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue is what I've been told. Specifically, I think I do a good job of finding each character's voice. This is something I've been consciously working on and I think it's been paying off, especially the last year or so!

What are your writing weaknesses?

Plot!! I cry every time I need to plot anything. That's why most of my fics are mostly just Vibes

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Ohhh I'd love to do that though I haven't yet. I think it would mean fewer people would read it, but that has never stopped me from writing a thing >:)

First fandom you wrote for?

The first I posted was a Witcher fic, but the one I started writing first was BBC Merlin. It still has a chokehold on my psyche

Counting down the hours - a numbers update!

Since the update yesterday evening, THIRTY more creators have signed up for another THIRTY EIGHT offers … including a signup for Goncharov, NINE new write-in fandoms, and FIVE more folks willing to work in any fandom.

Sherlock has managed to tie up fifth place in the listed fandoms, sharing the spot with Teen Wolf. And the tenth spot is now a 4-way tie between Merlin, Original Work, The Sandman, and The Witcher.

So many. Too many. At the moment, mainly cdrama related ones, with Nirvana in Fire being my most prolific fandom.

4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

I was moderately popular in the Witcher fandom, so a lot of these aren't very representative of what I'm writing atm

Shining, (The Witcher) in which Jaskier is, unbeknownst to him, a dragon. Simmering, Mourning, and Vibing (from the same series) are respectively second, third, and fifth on the list, so I'm discounting them (and other works in the series in the top-kudos-ed) on the ground it would be boring if it was just this series.

Haunted and Haunting (The Umbrella Academy), in which Klaus died age 13 and spends his afterlife looking after his siblings.

Shang Qinghua’s testimonial to why you should NEVER TRY TO CHANGE THE PLOT [System, help!!], (SVSSS), in which Shang Qinghua tries to a slight plot change and ends up with a husband

Barmecide, (The Umbrella Academy), in which all of the Hargreeve siblings die except Klaus, and it's only after death they start to bond

On Reflection (SVSSS), in which the author shoves the characters into a small, enclosed space and makes them talk about their feelings

I try to! Mainly because it's so lovely that people leave me comments that I want to also interact with them and thank them? The only exceptions are if I don't really know how to reply to them, if they're a bit mean, or if they've left a thank you on every chapter of a fic (beloved!!!) in which case I'll reply to the last comment

6) What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

erm... I have no idea. Probably one of the NiF ones. Lin Chen tends to suffer a lot at my hands.

7) What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I also have no idea. Like I've definitely written fluffy ones! but how to quantify what's the happiest??

8) Do you get hate on fics?

a couple of times, but I either ignore or block. Thankfully not habitually

I don't, I tend to be a 'fades to black' kind of author

So many crossovers. I think the craziest might be 'Percival from Merlin switches bodies with Luther Hargreeves from the Umbrella Academy'

Yes!!!

A Russian translation of Plausible Deniability (the Magicians), a Chinese translation of Shining (The Witcher), a Russian translation of tho' it were ten thousand miles (SVSSS), and a Russian translation of you could cut ties with all the lies (that you've been living in) (NiF)

That's so many words of translation and I am amazed that people have done it!

So many co-written fics. Mainly with @thebansacredbanned and a couple with @luzzeagain

14) What's your all-time favorite ship?

This 100% changes all the time, but probably my favourite it Mei Changsu/Lin Chen/Jingyan, where Jingyan sometimes represents justice.

15) What's a wip that you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Hoarding or Barmecide, both of which have wonderful readers but are different from what I've been writing in the past few years. I will get back to them! One day...

hmm depends. Maybe characterisation? especially in Nif? Dialogue perhaps

I don't know how 'pretty' my writing is tbh... and also I have a propensity to plan these huge epic AUs that I then don't have enough time to finish writing (since they tend to be for exchanges)

I've done it! I think you need to either be fluent in the language of know someone who is and is happy to beta. not against it, but I think it needs to be done respectfully and not using google translate

...it was possible the Bible. I wrote a poem about god... Discounting that, I think supernatural or Dr Who. It was possible a SPN/DW crossover.

If we're counting unposted ones, then I handwrote a Star Wars fic when I was like 8. Make it into a little book and drew the cover myself! ...it's never going to see the light of day

i'm usually a 1 fandom at a time gal but currently i'm writing for BTTF and Shazam and less frequently for the Witcher and Lord of the Rings!

SO i used to respond pretty frequently but then i spent a while writing in a very very tiny fandom where every single comment was cherished & i got out of the habit of replying bcos in my mind once i've replied to a comment it's 'finished' so living them unreplied to meant i could enjoy them for longer. and then i got out of the habit!! these days i tend to only reply if i have something to say but i am grateful for all of them <3

im not gonna link any of them but in my Merlin days i did write multiple fics about my OT3 killing each other. im fine thank you for asking.

huh i feel like this is harder to measure than the above?? hmmm. scrolling back through my recent-ish works, it isn't kind is pretty unabashedly fluffy.

ehhh i've had some rude comments but i wouldn't say hate

these days not so often!! have ended up in a string of found family type fandoms. but yeah i got uhh 65 fics rated E on the ao3. most of them are m/m occasional f/f or f/m.

im more into fusions which is a different thing! but have on occasion written crossovers.

yeah actually, had a fic taken once by someone who was habitually translating fics into a different language & posting them without acknowledging the original. i think they got reported but i don't really remember who it shook out!

yeah quite a lot of times! u can see translations of my fics on ao3 here. disproportionately russian? i assume there's just a lot of russian fic translators out there!

im monolingual so i don't think i'd do this without assistance from a native speaker. i've actually published (like, professionally) a piece of fiction w some dialogue in another language and to my eternal gratitude some of my tumblr followers assisted me with the translation <3

Assuming The Witcher and Merlin took place in the same universe, I can see Minnia and Jaskier coming through Camelot, performing at the tavern everyone says Merlin's always in. At the same time, some evil warlock/mage is tormenting Camelot, and he’s setting up Minnia and Jaskier to take the fall for his evil doings. Nella sees the real culprit while out looking for wherever Merlin has disappeared to, and asks for Minnia and Jaskier's help to find Merlin. They agree, if she and Merlin promise to help clear their names.

(Side note: I really like this crossover idea and hope maybe I’ll write it someday.)

18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? It's something I would attempt if the character demanded it, but I would try and find a native speaker to help so I didn't make a mess of it.

19. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Melanie Rawn's Dragon Prince because I hated something that happened and it had to be re-written on my mum's typewriter. I cannot recall how old I was. Actual stuff I posted on the internet? It was either extreme ghostbusters or digimon, and is thankfully lost forever.

I try to respond to every comment provided its not hate, I ignore hate. I want people to know that their comment is truly appreciated from the bottom of my heart. Comments are food for the writer's soul.

Probably either The Void (TOS Star Trek) or Forever (SPN) or most of my SPN Endverse fics.

Not too much, but it happens every so often. Why people can't just exit a fic or not interact with it if they don't like it is beyond me.

Sure do. Um, explicit and M/M but the specifics vary depending on pairing and fic. Been getting more detailed and more adventurous with it over the years though.

Ohhhh boi have I ever written a crazy crossover XD

Convergence - where I brought many many fandoms (and even more ships) together in a story with an actual plot.

Its not my only crossover, but it's by far the craziest.

Not that I know of.

Not that I'm aware of, but I have been asked if some can be translated before, just never heard from them again.

In a way with @lizzy0305 who started Fragments ages ago and then I finished it because we both knew she wasn't going to finish it.

Theres a johnlock fic that could be the first wip i never go back to.

and an SPN and a Stanner fic that both could stay wips forever, but honestly it just takes one spark in my brain and the right mood and I could finish any of these, so never say never.

Not sure really. My fluff is extra tooth rotting? XD Also once I get used to a character their voice is easy to channel I suppose.

Feels like everything when you're trying to write a damn fic XD um, maybe not putting in enough details into a scene.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I often use Vulcan language in Star Trek fics, I think it adds to it. However I get that it can be annoying to not understand a piece of likely important dialogue cause its in another language. It doesn't bother me though.

Technically HP when I was teen, before I knew what fandom and fanfiction were. But when I was in the know it was Supernatural.

How can I just pick one? I'll pick a multichapter and a one shot that I love.
