Teen Titans Masterpost And Reading Guide -

This is mostly a passion project of mine about my favourite team in DC Comics The Titans ! The general consensus I have seen on this website is that their history is confusing and people don’t know where to start so …. This guide includes ALL ( worthwhile ) pieces of Titans Media .

Ok so this is heavily inspired by @bitimdrake ‘s guide so check that one too !

Just to preface this is all my opinion and you can really start wherever you feel like it if you want to ! Sound Good 👍🏻 Good

TEEN TITANS

Ok so before you begin the og TT series you should read

- Brave and The Bold ( 1955) #54 and #60 if you want to read right from the start chronologically!

The Original Team of the TEEN TITANS was a series that ran through the 60s beginning in 1966 - 1973 and having a comeback in 1976 .

The OG series consisted mostly Robin Wonder Girl Kid Flash and Aqualad with many a cameo from other teens.

You can either read the OG Series but its completely optional it’s pretty outdated and silly but it’s a fun ride even then . In my opinion its best to leave for after you have been endeared to the characters .

If you really enjoy the Silver Age Teen Titans there’s also Showcase #59 before Roy joins and a story in the 80 page Flash Giant ! And after reading issue #20 you can also read #83 of Brave and The Bold.

After #31 theres TBANB #94 and after #34 theres World Finest Comics #205 ( read at your own discretion - totally optional)

Aswell as BANTB #102 and #149

And the utterly delightful Teen Titans lost annual & A story ( worlds oldest teenagers ) in the 80 page Flash giant.

All optional ( they get really weird)

Alternatively just read TEEN TITANS : YEAR ONE .

NTT is arguably the seminal run and its best an absolute mustread . ( at it’s worst ….)

- DC PRESENTS #26 ( totally optional)

- THE NEW TEEN TITANS Vol.1

#1-40

- BEST OF DC #18 ( optional again.)

- Tales of The New Teen Titans ( miniseries #1-4 included in the NTT Omnis)

- read the 1st annual after issue #25

- By Issue 40 the series rebrands To TALES Of TEEN TITANS

This continues on from issues #41 to #58 it runs alongside NTT VOL.2 but is set 6 months before .

Read annual 3 as Part of Judas Contract !

- NEW TEEN TITANS VOL.2

#1-49

- TT Spotlight Miniseries !! ( SO GOOD SERIOUSLY)

- There’s also a drug awareness special at some point ( it’s its …. Certainly something)

NEW TITANS

By this point they remembered that “hey these guys aren’t teens anymore ” and thus renamed it to NEW TITANS . This series started off well enough and quickly devolved into arguably one of the worst runs EVER.

New Titans #81 is part of War Of The Gods and Annual 7 is part of Armageddon 2001 ( don’t bother ) annual 8 is part OF YET ANOTHER EVENT . Again don’t bother .

It’s pretty much highly recommend giving it up at #70 regardless .

#50 - 100

- running alongside NEW TITANS by 1992 was TEAM TITANS a series so awful I cannot recommend to you in clear conscience but if your a completetionist ( trust me I get it ) It’s there and Donna shows up alot !

The last decaying remains of NT walks on like a zombie on acid but by #100 all of the NTT crew is gone ( well most ) and leave to be replaced by an all new government sponsored Titans team lead by Roy . ( look I love this team but you seriously don’t have to keep reading)

Ok so I am aware that they aren’t strictly Titans series BUT PLEASE TAKE a minute to read

The Arsenal Special!! Its a short single issue and BRILLIANT !! It informs a-lot of his character later on as well as of course the actual Arsenal Miniseries.

ALSO THE TEMPEST (1996) a absolute must read also informs basically everything about Garth and arguably his best story ever … just take a minute and read these if you want !! Before the Titans (1999)

Ok so in the 90’s DC decided to start the TT from scratch ( huh see how long this’ll last )

This all new team was comprised of 4 half alien teens and a freshly deaged Atom. It didn’t last very long and while I am fond of it AGAIN you don’t HAVE TO read it

( you can also read the Beast Boy #1-4 miniseries prequel . But uh unless you really love Bette it’s not worth it )

Ok so I basically consider post OYL TT ‘03 to be a totally different team because… well it is . All of the NTT crew leave and are replaced by a handful of cameos and eventually like Rose Wilson and Kid Devil and because at this point half of the YJ gen is well…dead . It was pretty awful at this point though I find the character interactions endearing. This series remains like that until N52 .

After all the bullshit THEY ARE BACK TOGETHER AGAIN YAY !!!! To bad there’s so much shit going on OUTSIDE of the Titans that ends up fucking over the characters. E.G Bruce dying so Dick has to go be Batman and …. Hell . Fucking Rise Of Arsenal. If you know what happens in that book well yk that Roy ends up relapsing and going down a much darker mindset .

Series swings between being really good and being a mischaracterising MESS.

But Amanda why did you put it’s end at 23 when Ik for a fact that goes on for #38 issues ????

TITANS ( 2008 ) : VILLAINS FOR HIRE

So at issue 23 DC had the genius idea of taking the Titans and …. Turning them into a mercenary and hitman group lead by Deathstroke himself ( why ? I wish I fucking knew.) Filled out with hitman and villains and …. Roy who was now really dark and #edgy . Whatever It was bad and a wannabe secret six .

#23-38

However they’re was almost light at the end of the tunnel …. Jericho ( Joey Wilson yes he IS ALIVE ) seemed to have plans to assemble a new TITANS team and reunite their family and Roy well it seemed he was on a path to redemption he was almost there close to moving to recovery and healing and he could do it with—

N52 . POST FLASHPOINT TITANS.

The N52 was bad isnt a particularly outrageous statement but IT WAS EXTREMELY fucking bad in relation to the Titans . Bluntly put None of it ever happened and the only titans ( TEEN TITANS ACTUALLY) that had ever existed were the TT2003 guys . Just them. Fab Five never existed. NTT never existed.And all of the other og TT guys were …… WALLY never existed. Donna was a one note villain Garth never existed Dick was …. There I guess.. ROY was a dumbed down alcoholic with no purpose other than to gawk at how cool and oh and ahh at Jason Todd . ( KORY …… truly just awful what happened to her )

You can read the TEEN TITANS N52 . I guess .

They have 2 series . Read at your own peril ( scott lobbell shouldn’t of been allowed to touch a pen )

REBIRTH

- TITANS HUNT ! - WALLY IS BACK

-TITANS VOL.3 is exactly what I wanted in the first half and then falls on it’s ass and burns like a trash fire . recommend stopping at #20

Do not read this comic . Awful would be overselling it . And if you do ? THAT IS NOT DAMIAN . The series starts with Damian leading alot of the OG NTT guys and then it later just becomes Damian + Emiko + Ace and a couple other guys like Crush .

A solid adaptation of … most of the characters please don’t go into this show and come out expecting the same from the comics . Did a lot of good for Terra’s character and influences ALOT of public perception. Just … don’t be annoying about the comics after watching this .

Last: recently finished MDZS vol 2, my Goblin Emperor reread (audiobook), The Monster Baru Cormorant, and Lockwood & Co 3

Current: I'm almost finished Saint-Exupery's Wind, Sand and Stars, as well as O'Loughlin's Hidden Mercy; I'm in the midst of my Grief of Stones reread, The Thief audiobook reread on my commute, and I have both naruto and trimax on the go as my library holds come in (vol. 38 for naruto and 3 for trimax)

I also have partially read, but currently on hold, The Raven King (i was being TOO emo about it and needed to not have a meltdown so we are on temporary pause while i recover), and The Way of Kings (kaladin is blorbo but man bsanderson is a worldbuilding guy and i am a character driven narrative guy, so the pacing is killing me. i ought not to complain HOTE is just as long and sometimes as repetitive but like....it's about EMOTIONS so im irrevocably in love w it), and The Count of Monte Cristo (i got overwhelmed by library holds and havent had a chance to pick it up again yet)

Up next: I picked up a whole whack of holds at the library today after work, so in the next lil while I'll be starting The Bells of Nagasaki (nonfiction), Station Eleven (fiction), Conflict Resolution for Holy Beings (poems), and Strange Practice (indulgent vampire read), in addition to my ongoing manga adventures

i ALSO promised Rae I'd finally start on Hogarth's Bloodladders trilogy while getting my tattoo done since im gonna be sitting there for hours with only my left arm available and thus an ebook is my best bet

im also waiting for MDZS vol 3 and Baru Cormorant 3, but the holds probably wont be in til october given the waitlist

Chapter 4: Emilio the Player

Oh, hey. We're starting back with Brad instead of with Vash or Wolfwood or the girls.

"Something must've happened to them." Do I want to know? I probably don't want to know. Am I gonna find out anyway? Of course I am.

I still don't know who Emilio is. But it just occurred to me that "player" can also mean "actor," and Puppetman thinks of what he is doing in terms of a play, so that might be it.

Puppetman is talking about winning, but Vash has already lost. He has lost so much already. This isn't a fight where Vash comes out on top. It's one where he tries to survive while somehow keeping the core of his being intact. But I'd hesitate to call the bare basics of getting through this a true "win" scenario.

Ugh, Vash with the girl he accidentally shot. I love how his coat is just... going nuts behind him. What is physics? It doesn't matter anymore. Coat is now a part of him and it reaches out both like a defensive shell and like grasping claw, ready to tear apart whatever threatens them next.

Oh, good. I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't know who the heck Emilio is.

Autistic-coded Shen Jiu headcanons

I'm autistic, and since learning I am, I've started seeing it in a lot more places, and finding different ways that we mask and hide and pretend that we're neurotypical (or at least a palatable neurodivergent). And then I started seeing it in original Shen Qingqiu.

Different ways Shen Jiu can be interpreted as autistic:

• he's constantly! masking! because he's afraid of people seeing him without his mask up, and being misunderstood again (yet, even when he's masking, he ends up misunderstood anyways because he doesn't understand subtext like neurotypical people do)

• he prefers to be alone, so he can stop masking and just relax. he can just be himself. this is why his peak lord martial siblings find him "unsocial," and they complain about how he never "invites them to tea, how stuck up~"

• he HATES subtext. just speak straight to him and literally, don't assume he knows what you mean. also hates when people assume what HE means because they are looking for subtext that isn't there.

• he hates word games. they make him tired.

• book hyperfixation. his special interest is knowledge. he read all of the books on Qing Jing Peak to become the head disciple (pg 14, vol 2, official eng TL), so it makes sense that after he learned to read, he absorbed everything he could!

• he makes little noises at the start of end of his sentences. um. mm. mn. nmn. hmm. mm? mhm. etc. so many different ways to add little noises!!

• his love language is physical touch. BUT DON'T TOUCH HIM!!! (his hatred of men being due to implied SA makes this especially painful, bc he can't understand that he's even loveable because he Fears Touch)

• when he's stressed, he wants really tight, deep pressure, but doing that would need to be touched, so he can only calm down when he's in the Warm Red Pavilion and can trust people to hug him tightly without touching him in ways he doesn't want.

• he HATES schedule changes or unannounced/surprise changes to his plans. he needs to know what's happening at all times. if you surprise him with a sudden change to a schedule, he will have a meltdown.

• control issues. he needs to be able to trust whoever is in control to maintain control so nothing happens to him that he doesn't consent to, and if whoever is in charge is incompetent, he WILL throw up. a reason the peak lords think he's spoiled.

• he stims. a lot. he loves gently stroking the soft, smooth wood of his qin, flicking his fan open and closed repeatedly, loves fanning himself.

• only likes certain foods. if they're not sweet, or his Preferred Foods, he will not eat. this is another reason why his martial siblings think he's picky and a spoiled young master.

• his meltdowns are either to shut down and shut everyone out, or he explodes and has a qi deviation while berating the other person who caused his meltdown. if he were left alone, he wouldn't get distracted from his cultivation enough to cause it, despite his twisted meridians.

Anyways. I love autistic Shen Jiu, and I have so so so much more to go on and on about each one of these and how other people could help make him feel safer, or more accepted, but for now, I think that's long enough haha.

“Abu Afak and Asma bint Marwan were both Jewish proselytes from the Arab tribe of Umayya b. Zayd[1] in Medina. Afak wrote a poem against Muhammad to show his disapproval of Muhammad’s murder of al-Harith b. Suwayd b. Samit. Muhammad responded to this poem by asking, “Who will deal with this rascal for me?” Salim b. Umayr, a follower of Muhammad from Afak’s same tribe, volunteered and killed Abu Afak who apparently was a very old man.[2] Similarly, Marwan displayed her displeasure with Muhammad and his followers for the murder of Afak by writing a poem criticizing them. Muhammad responded in a similar way as he did with Afak by again asking, “Who will rid me of Marwan’s daughter?” Umayr b. Adiy al-Khatmi, a Muslim from the same tribe of Marwan, volunteered his services and went that very night and killed her while she was sleeping. Muhammad’s response to this assassination was, “You have helped God and His apostle, O Umayr!”[3]”

Synopsis: The Riddler, occupying an observation room at Arkham Asylum, expresses his annoyance with the inept psychiatrists' repeated attempts to pierce his psyche, and decides to give them what they want: the story of his life, how he became a criminal, and why he repeatedly opposes Batman.

As a child, Edward was a cipher, ignored by even the playground bullies at his school. Hungry for attention (especially with ignorant, unloving parents), the young Edward began his "career" in the sixth grade by cheating at a solve-the-puzzle contest - by sneaking into the school the night before the contest, he was able to practice solving the puzzle, and easily won the contest. Edward's fame proved to be fleeting, however, and the young boy realized that to keep the attention he so craved, he had to turn to his true talent: cheating.

After graduating, Edward became a deliveryman, a job he found extremely tedious. Out of boredom and greed, he began stealing from his clients, but even this could not satisfy his ego. Eventually, he donned the alias of "the Riddler", and started sending riddles to the police foreshadowing his future crimes. The Riddler's early career was fraught with many difficulties, missteps, and a narrow escape from Batman, but nevertheless, he managed to accrue a respectable amount of loot and two loyal henchwomen named Query and Echo.

With Query and Echo, the Riddler came to the crowning caper of his early career: a raid on the Reservoir Street depository that completely misled the police and left him with two million dollars. Once again, Batman narrowly failed to capture him, giving the Riddler a more impressive reputation than ever. Now overconfident, the Riddler planned an even bigger caper: stealing a set of Stradivarius violins from both a private collector and a public opera. Unfortunately, Batman quickly put an end to this caper, handing the Riddler his first unqualified defeat.

As he recounts his humiliation at Batman's hands, the present-day Riddler begins to have a meltdown. In a fit of psychosis, he breaks the one-way glass between him and his doctors, only to realize that his doctors had left on lunch break; he had been telling his life's story to thin air all along. Orderlies rush in and subdue him, leaving the Riddler near-catatonic and muttering "no one there…" on an endless loop.

Into the Anthill pt 29 - Heroes Reborn

The Heroes Reborn event is set in an alternate universe created by Franklin Richards to save the heroes who sacrificed themselves facing Onslaught. I really wanted to skip this, but since the characters are still the real ones (just reality-warped with fresh amnesia) I couldn’t. It wasn’t really worth worrying about since Hank was in almost none of it and Doom brought them all back after only a year anyway.

My one positive note here was that I liked his Heroes Reborn costume a lot more than the one he wore when he got back.

Avengers vol 2 #1-4, 7-12

Hank Pym is introduced as the lead scientist in the lab on the newly founded Avengers Island. Since his previous lab assistant Vision was now a member of the Avengers, Hank created a new robotic helper to work alongside him: Ultron. Ultron would continue to upgrade himself to a new, more capable body each issue to better assist his father, but after Janet hit him for trying to be affectionate toward her and scolded him for calling her “mother,” his disposition grew cold. When Vision’s body was damaged and brought to Hank to examine, Hank tested out his new “micron gas” to shrink down inside him. Ultron-4 attempted to trap him inside by cutting his escape cable and told Jan he hadn't seen Hank all day.

S.H.I.E.L.D. eventually confiscated Vision’s body, unaware that Hank was still trapped inside in his Ant-Man suit and fighting for survival against Vision’s internal defenses. He found that Vision’s memory data was being downloaded out, generating copies of his old enemies to fight the Avengers. Hank was able to stop this and escape by shutting Vision down completely, but this caused a meltdown that nearly destroyed the Helicarrier. Reunited with the Avengers, Hank discovered a crack in the universe from which the real Thor appeared with his pre-Onslaught memories mostly intact.

Heroes Reborn: The Return vol 1 #4

Dr. Doom, Mr. Fantastic, Iron Man, Bruce Banner, and Ashema the Celestial worked with Franklin Richards to return everyone to their home dimension, allowing Ashema to preserve this world within her for eternity. Doom tried to steal Franklin’s power on the way back, but he was stopped by the heroes and their journey was successful.

Avengers vol 3 #1-4

The heroes who had been displaced by Onslaught and believed dead were doing their part to settle back into their lives when, all at once, Avengers all around the world were attacked by Asgardian monsters. Captain America, Iron Man, Giant-Man, Wasp, and Thor decided to gather together every possible Avenger to make sure they were all aware of the situation. Thor, who had discovered Asgard abandoned and the Rainbow Bridge lying in pieces, believed the monsters had spawned from places where the shards of the bridge had fallen. Turns out Morgan le Fay was in possession of the Twilight Sword and the Norn Stones, and she used their power to transport the Avengers back to a medieval-England reality warp. Scarlet Witch and Wonder Man channeled the power of every Avenger to defeat her, but Simon appeared to die in the process and Vision’s body was badly damaged.

Several days later, the founding Avengers met with their new federal liaison to reduce their roster down to a more manageable number yet again. Cap, Thor, and Iron Man signed on, but Giant-Man and Wasp returned to inactive membership again. Scarlet Witch, Warbird, and Hawkeye filled out the roster while Justice and Firestar were brought on as reserve members for training.

so i just finished it. not really spoilers below the cut but i’m gonna put it there just in case. read at your own discretion i guess (it’s to do with the fic i’m writing atm which will go into vol 2 of the show eventually)

i’m on the brink of a meltdown after vol 2 but i shall still be continuing my eddie fic ‘more than a feeling’ well into vol 2.

in short, i’m going to fix it under the means of an extra person (i.e. you, the reader) is an extra pair of hands on deck which may or may not be able to help change a couple of things in the plot to come.

there is still a while to go before the fic will even reach the timeframe of vol 1, it’s going to be a slow burn, and i will only be making minimal changes to the key plot right up until about two thirds into vol 2 (if you know, you know)

What I meant with the 2 days later title card was simply it was a weird cop out and there are just so many unanswered questions that left me personally really disappointed. Now I know s4 and s5 go together, there are obviously things unanswered. However nobody but Dustin reacting to Eddie's death? Absolutely disgusting, we could have finally had an emotional Steve and Dustin moment but nope. Also I wanted to see their reactions to Max and how they got out of the UD. It was so underwhelming, all the theories what could have happened in vol 2 were so good but we got this lame ass time jump. I'm not even mad that Eddie died really, I'm in the minority with this one because I saw it coming and tbh I'm not overly attached to his character. Also the time skip just shows ST is more action based than actually letting the characters breathe and process their emotions in a normal, human way. Everybody, but Dustin, Lucas and El were smiling goofing around as if not two of their friends just died it was so weird to watch.

As for Steve and his plotline this season I wouldn't even be so mad at Stancy if his other relationships wouldn't have suffered because of it. They forced this in such an uncomfortable way I had to skip certain scenes lol. It's a crime we got a Eddie/Dustin hug before Steve/Dustin one, simply because the writers made Steve so mad at being the babysitter this season in favor of Stancy. Robin, Steve's bestie, pushing Nancy to persue Steve while knowing she has a bf and was also probably aware how badly things ended, was literally so OOC just for some Stancy time. Then Nancy jumping in before Robin, so Eddie could give his true love speech to Steve while we both know Robin is Steve's platonic bestie, but the relationship had to be watered down for the dead ship. Those are the reasons why I had a huge problem with it, they could have incorporated Stancy without fucking up Steve's greatest relationships.

I get Steve's perspective, she was his first love and I get why he said what he said to her in a moment of grave danger. What I don't get is Nancy not shutting it down immediately, this girl, in my opinion, never truly loved him the way he did and his dream of a huge family is her biggest nightmare. So why did she kept flirting with him while she has a boyfriend? I'm just sick of this war between the two guys which ended in s2 and was completely unnecessary to revive. Let Nancy be single next season lol.

Like you said it didn't make sense because Steve's arc in s3 was all about getting over her and moving on. I thought they would continue this trend by him realizing okay he doesn't need romantic love in order to happy, that he can form meaningful platonic relationships and be satisfied. Maybe even figure out his future, college plans etc instead he moved backwards. If Stancy is endgame after s2 I'm going to sue the Duffers lol.

As for shipping the kids in general, I never meant the chill shippers. I ship Lumax, I think they are cute and I hope they get their happy end. I was talking about the people my age and older who absolutely go overboard with it. I've seen people having small meltdowns over ships, fearing what would happen if their ship doesn't become canon. This is extremely concerning to me because those are still 14 year old kids you need to calm down a bit.

All in all the vibes of the fandom are kinda off, tumblr is still the superior social media site tho. Twitter and especially tiktok are the fucking worst let me tell you. The amount of bad takes and gross mischaracterisation of our beloved characters I've seen there made me sick. Especially when it comes to Steve, the people on tiktok really want him dead. Vol2 was out for a few days and we already got Steve dying theories. Mostly they are about oh Stancy is not going to be endgame so Steve has to die to resolve the love triangle plus he has nothing else going on (not my take). Or they theorize after the time jump he isn't needed as the babysitter anymore might as well just die. Meanwhile the Duffers confirmed next season we get to see Dustin grieving Eddie, why tf would they kill off Steve, Dustin's other big brother figure? The Duffers love Dustin they wouldn't do this to him. And to reduce Steve to just the babysitter when Dustin and Max view him as more than that is so disgusting. Okay I'm gonna stop now lmao I got way too heated with this.

Yeah, I think the time jump was a little…. Unfulfilling? Underwhelming? Idk what to call it exactly, but to go from the intense chaos and carnage of everyone fighting vecna to just “lol here’s two days later, no we won’t elaborate about anything that happened in those two days”, that was frustrating. It would have been honestly more realistic to see someone else other than Dustin mourn Eddie, for sure. I know going through every character individually would have taken a bit, so I get not doing that, but they couldn’t show how Steve Nancy and Robin felt after reuniting with Dustin only to find him holding Eddie’s body? Idk maybe they thought that would’ve been too emotional or something, but it hasn’t stopped them from making us weep over deaths and loss before lol so….. yeah. I agree with you, that could’ve been handled a lot better.

As far as Eddie’s death, i feel similarly, aside from personally i just got super attached to his character like a lot of fans bc he was just so easily likable. But, you’re right, it was pretty obvious where they were going with it! I didn’t understand why some people were acting as if this blindsided them— upsetting? Yes absolutely, but it was set on a direct crash course to that outcome since e1 of this season.

The way everyone acted after losing Eddie and losing Max only to get her back hanging by a thread, I can understand the frustration seeing only a few characters upset, but also people do mourn in different ways. And maybe that’s a reach from me to assume the writers would go that in depth with characters’ emotions, but if we’re being real here, lots of folks mourn differently for an endless list of reasons. Some of them might have mourned in private, some might have bottled it up completely. Maybe I’m projecting; when a childhood bff lost their sibling when we were teens, we went to the funeral and cried and mourned but immediately after, my friends wanted to go bowling. It was a little jarring but that was when I realized people mourn in so many different ways. Sometimes people need distractions as they process emotions. That’s totally valid, but I wish they would have at least insinuated that they mourned in their own ways. Idk.

I can imagine Steve would have felt he had to hold it together for the kids’ sakes, y’know? He does everything he can to be strong for them, even when he acts like babysitting is a nuisance and a drag. But, of course, I could be reaching like I said lol. Either way, there should have been more signs of loss among more characters, not just a few.

Also yeah, I definitely agree it was odd how they kept pushing Stancy, even when Robin knew how hard that all hit Steve, and how far he came from the breakup. But at the same time too I wonder if it just had something to do with whatever pull the UD might have over them? That’s probably so far fetched and I could be reaching to try and justify it lol but idk. Still, really odd.

AND SERIOUSLY!! At this point Nancy needs to just be on her own. She clearly doesn’t know what she wants, and whether that’s due to trauma messing with her emotions or god knows what, this back and forth between Steve and Jonathan is getting old, and it’s not fair to just reduce those two down to “who will Nancy pick!!!” when their characters are so much more than just that. I agree, I don’t think Nancy loved Steve the way he loved her either. Personally, I loooooved Nancy and Jonathan’s characters so much this season, and I realized it was because they were apart. Not that I want them to break up for the show to continue pushing Stancy, but to me they’re insufferable as a couple, and clearly neither of them are fully happy or okay. They could use a break from each other imo, but not just for anyone to fill the void with anyone else’s company.

I didn’t even mind that they continued with Steve’s antics of always being a major flirt, and him regaining confidence to date again, even if it’s all casual stuff. It was a nice sign of normalcy imo, not that him being alone would be abnormal, but idk to me it felt like a continuation of part of his character, and the growth of him realizing he didn’t need romance with Nancy. Idk. I agree with you though, they should’ve continued to focus on his own growth and could have taken it in soooooo many more directions that didn’t involve trying to rekindle Stancy. I hope it’s not endgame too lol. I love their characters separately, but like with how I feel about Jancy, I feel similarly about Stancy. It’s unnecessary and these characters all have so much to offer on their own and in platonic relationships, idk why romance has to be pushed with everyone, especially those three. Longing for an ideal love for each of their situations? That i get. But this constant back and forth between the two ships is so tiring lol.

And my bad if I worded that weird as far as the kids go!! Listen, I’m a sap for some of the sweet and wholesome Mileven moments throughout the show, so I get it. Same with Lumax, and honestly even Dustin and Suzie are precious and I love the nerdy, long distance bond between the two of them. But when people go off the rails for ships with the kids, it’s…….. concerning. You’re absolutely right. They’re all are or are around 14 and to be a grown ass adult violently fighting strangers on the internet for a ship that that isn’t canon or is unpopular……. Is weird. To say the least. And I will say this: as far as Byler goes, I can understand younger fans wanting a mlm pairing they could relate to and feel some sort of representation from, but if you’re 18+ sending death threats to others over this ship, or any ship, it’s extremely concerning for sure. They’re kids. And I agree that Will is definitely not straight, that’s clear as day, but when adults our age are so intensely involved in a ship involving children, any children and any paring, it’s just weird. It doesn’t sit right with me at all.

Tumblr definitely is the best bet out of all of them as far as fandom communities go, I definitely agree. Somehow this clusterfuck hellsite has become the best experience on the internet for social media again lmao, never thought I’d say that but, it’s a lot nicer here than most everywhere else. Still, no matter where you go, there will be fans who take things too far, unfortunately. Also that’s honestly gross that people on TT are acting that way?? Like what in the fucking world? I stay far away from fandom shit on there, unless it’s something like silent hill where there’s maybe 10 fans on the entire site lmaoooo. Anyway.

I agree, and I felt that way too when we were waiting for vol. 2 and we were all worried about Steve. That’s when I realized they had to be playing it up, but of course it’s not like I knew for sure till the finale dropped, but I kept wondering if they’d be that cruel to leave Dustin abandoned if both Eddie and Steve died, or if one died this season and the other the next. I’d like to believe they wouldn’t do that, but like I always say, I could be wrong lol. I’d hope they wouldn’t give two older brother type figures just to rip them both away in the end. That’s too much trauma on top of everything these kids have gone through imo. Of course, real life isn’t so forgiving, but I’d hope they’d realize how important Steve is to the show, the characters- especially Dustin, and to the majority of the fandom. He’s way more than just the babysitter at this point, and I hope to god they don’t fuck that up in the end.
